    If something goes wrong, you can always depend on American Home Shield to come through and fix it. The experience I had with them of fixing my two bathrooms, the shower was leaking and one wouldn't come on. The tech was on time. He was knowledgeable about the situation and took care of it. And everything is working perfectly. He did an excellent job.

    The tech who came for the washing machine-dryer combination was great and American Home Shield's service has been good. Like most people, I don't like to get a whole lot of marketing emails. But in the case of AHS, I would like to see a few more emails marketing-wise such as suggestions for maintenance. I saw a couple of years ago that they were running some type of special deal on air conditioning maintenance. Most people let their air conditioners go but most of their appliances go until they won't. There could be a major cost involved or they might even need to be replaced. But that could have been avoided with maybe regular or better maintenance. So one of the things that I saw that one time was a great idea. It saves AHS money in the long run and it's less hassle for us because no one wants to deal with a totally inoperative appliance, especially air conditioning. But I haven't seen it since so that's too bad.

    I did a claim for an air conditioning unit, and American Home Shield was very responsive. Also, the repair company came on time, gave us notice, and kept us up to date on when they would arrive. They were very efficient and polite. They had to order a fan, and I was really worried that with supply chain issues, it would take weeks, but they were able to get the part in two days and install it within the same week. They fixed the problem quickly, and we haven't had a reoccurrence.

    Ryan, the tech, confirmed that there was nothing wrong with my AC, which I thought was the case, but it's been so hot recently. It was an excess amount of condensation. Ryan ended up looking at both units, and I was very pleased with him. My wife also said she would have felt comfortable being at home, if I weren't here, with Ryan. He didn't give off any weird vibes, and he was knowledgeable and looked at you when he talked to you. He seemed like a person you could trust.

    I've had American Home Shield for eight years now and have always had really good service. This is the third house I've had, and I heard horror stories when I moved here to Elizabeth City eight months ago. When I say horror stories, it's regarding people having to come down from Virginia, and you don't always get the best service. Other people have had issues with it, and I said, “Well, I've never had a problem, so I'm using American Home Shield.” The first time I needed them, I was a little apprehensive making a call because of what I'd heard. But Ryan came right out, and we were very happy with it. So I will be renewing my policy within the next week. It expires the end of this month, and I'm getting a lot of notices from AHS that it's time to renew.

    During the quarantine, anytime that I called with any issues, American Home Shield did a great job of getting technicians out here to fix my refrigerator, my disposal and my dishwasher. I've had wonderful success in the three previous years. It's been over the last couple of months where it's been a little frustrating. I have had air conditioning problems for the third time now in the last six weeks. The response time from the subcontractor, United Air Temp, has been okay. But the wait time in order to get to be able to talk to the subcontractor has been extensive at times, which has been frustrating.

    I have a current open work order for some toilet issues that's over 10 days old right now. I still don't have a person scheduled to come out here and take care of those things for me. I'm not happy about those right now. Yesterday, when I called back to try and reschedule, the rep told me that she was going to route me over to United Air Temp. I told her, “That's not who I need to talk to. I'm calling about the toilets.” She said, "That's who takes care of your toilets, too." It was very frustrating because she didn't even know that that was not the process. But I understand that sometimes they get folks on the phone who don't know how to help and that they're going through the process of learning their job.

    I'm still pleased with American Home Shield. I am a single homeowner and not having air conditioning eight days while I'm waiting on a technician was not fun. But I understand that I'm not the only customer. Also, trying to find a good workforce right now is not the easiest. When you do have somebody that's willing to come to work, it may take a while to train them and get them up to the standard that you want them to be especially if you're trying to get back to a standard of where we were before covid and how we delivered services. It's gonna take a minute to re-educate people on what that looks like.

    The garbage disposal wasn't turning on at all and the contractor went in there and took it apart. He cleaned it up and now, it works even better than it did before. People should look into signing up with American Home Shield. They're great. I'm in the process right now of trying to get my mother to get this insurance thing with them too.

    My dryer wasn't heating and the contractor called me on Tuesday and said that it was probably the heating element, which I figured it was. The guy said that it would probably take about three weeks to get the part in and I asked if there was any way we could expedite that because I work in the hospital and I have to wash my scrubs frequently for work. He said he would check and called me back later on that day, and he said they could come out Friday. His boss authorized something where he was able to get the heating element quicker.

    I’ve had significant issues with AHS in the past in terms of when I moved into this home two years ago. They continued to bill me for the American Home Shield coverage of the people who had lived here prior to me. Despite frequent complaints, despite challenging charges with my bank, they continued to bill me. The prior homeowners had not notified them of their departure. So, they had not given them the change of address. Even though I kept telling AHS about it, they just continued the problem. But there are times that they are very responsive with repairs and coverage, there are just some broader issues in terms of how they're managing their operations. Rooter King Plumbing was professional for my recent claim. They did the job and were on time. They did the work properly and fixed the problem.

    Every time I call in, I always have to pay a large sum of money to get something repaired. Whenever I explain what I wanted to have done, as a consumer, I don't understand it. That's why when I called them, I explained what I wanted to do. I said, “I want my AC to be covered. I want my hot water heater to be covered.” I want it to make it to where if I have any repairs, I'm not going to be out of pocket. And they said, "No. We cover the AC. We cover this. We cover that.”

    So at the time that it's time to get stuff done, people are coming out and it just comes out to be that they only cover the bare minimum, which leaves me as a consumer with a cost. My hot water heater was an additional $600. I had to replace my AC unit, which was $6,000 and American Home Shield only gave me $1,000 towards that. They were going to fix it. I could have fixed the problem and it still would have cost me $2,000. And it would only have been warrantied for 30 days. And if it went out again, that would have been another $2,000 or I could have made the decision to go ahead and replace the unit because it was so old.

    One of the things AHS says is, "If we can't fix it, we'll replace it." My AC unit at this time was so old that it was patching it. And I understand they gotta be in the market to make money. But living in Texas with the extreme heat that we have here and the issue that the AC was having, it was better to replace it. I made the decision to go ahead and replace it versus keep throwing money at an old unit. So, I'm not pleased with it.

    I've had other small issues and there were no issues with them. But when it comes to the larger issues, that if I just took the payment that I was making, the months I've never used the warranty, I would have had the money to pay for my AC unit straight up. The $60 I'm paying AHS a month, if I put that money aside and something happens, I can cover what they cover. 6 years times 60 is what my account would have been.

    This is my second time with AHS. The first time was absolutely horrible. I had a microwave and they told me to pull it out before they could fix it, but the technician told them that it was not fixable. We went back and forth for about six months and they said they weren't gonna do it. I canceled and then I got them again in January. I had a claim for my air condition on the Fourth of July weekend. The technician that they sent came on that Saturday and they told me they would call me on the 5th to tell me what was going on. They did not call. I ended up calling him on the 12th and they said they will see what American Home Shield has to say. Then, they finally came out but I had to pay an additional $180 because they said the piece was not included. Do I like AHS? No, but I have no other home service to use. If you can find someone else, get someone else that's more credible.

    American Home Shield's service is fine, except for when their operators don't articulate your problem correctly and you have the wrong service provider that comes out. I've had it happen a couple of times. The clarity of some of their operators are very difficult. Sometimes I couldn't understand what they're saying. And it's very frustrating. So, even though they're speaking English to me, I don't know. On a couple of occasions, I said, “Please. I can't with you. Get me somebody who I can understand so we can get past this.”

    I called about my mini-split systems. It's heating and cooling. A lot of times you'll see it in beach houses. Or when it's hard to put a regular heating or cooling system in, you'll see a mini-split system. Or in my case, my entire house has them because they were more efficient than the regular gas, air push system. I told AHS there's water leaking out of one of my mini-split systems. And I made sure they understood mini-split. It’s not a wall air conditioner unit. They're not the same. They're nowhere near the same. They sent me somebody out here who thought it was a wall air conditioning unit and they don't service mini-splits. So, that's another couple of days or weeks that I have to wait for a new one because it's the summer season.

    They got somebody out here quickly. And the second group that they got out here knew exactly. They were in here five minutes and fixed the problem. But they wasted everybody's time. They wasted the whole time of another company who doesn't service those. Other than that, it's fine. None of the above would stop me from subscribing to AHS again today.

    I've been with American Home Shield for a little over a month and so far, services have been good. The process in terms of starting the claim was really good. It was really efficient. I went through a representative because it was my first time. But in the future, I probably would do the claim through their IVR or online portal because I would rather communicate that way. Once the technician from the Frog Pro company came out, it was really quick. He came in and said, "User error." I needed to clean off my air conditioning unit. He was here for a few minutes. But he also told me about a free service that I could have. If you get a code, you can get a free AC or HVAC check.

    I called to schedule the service but I couldn't get ahold of anyone at the Frog company and no one was answering my call. So I called American Home Shield today to escalate this and I haven't heard back from the supervisor yet. But it's only been a few hours and they said someone will call me back within 24 hours. So that's no reflection of American Home Shield. But someone should honor what this man told me. The guy that I spoke to today and in the past sounded a little scripty. I can tell when someone's reading a script or when they're following a script versus when it seems more authentic or conversational.

    The exterior wasn't cutting on, so the tech replaced the thermostat. I had another problem with the outside unit not cutting on and AHS sent a different contractor. He said that the thermostat was not correct. So AHS sent back out Discount and they replaced the thermostat again. When they initially put it in, the settings were wrong and from what the second technician told me, it was from that that my electric bill tripled. I have 1,000 square foot house and it was $400. So there were certain settings that they hadn't done initially with that. I had to make sure when the first tech came back and put the new thermostat in that the settings were done so that my electric bill was more normal, and he did. The young man was very polite and I got no complaints with him.

    Service with them has been pretty good. I had a claim for the air conditioner and the contractor came in a timely manner and fix it. They had to order a part but it came in the next day. I also had a range problem with the overhead fan. The contractor came in a timely manner to see what the problem was. They ordered the part but it took a almost three weeks to come in. But once it did, the techs did the repairs.

    My top washing rack was inoperable. The rep was very easy to work with. I told her my concern and then she set up the payment and the appointment. Within 24 hours, I was contacted by the company that was coming up. The tech gave me his name, the company he was working for, and when he would be at the house. He was thorough and let us know because had to order a part that wasn't readily available. He gave an estimated timetable of when the part would be in and that it might take a while because parts were on backorder. He told us when it was in and when he'd be available to install it. The part has been installed and we're using the dishwasher at regular capacity.

    From the get-go, I liked that American Home Shield answered questions. The representative was answering all my questions regarding everything. She broke everything down, and then she explained it. She was very neat in explaining all the tiers that they had and different things. American Home Shield sent someone who fixed the door. The gentleman was fine. The only thing that was kind of iffy was that the company called me because they wanted to verify what he did.

    Then, Accord Appliances came out, but they were not really great. Yesterday, I waited from 12:00 noon until 6:00 PM for them. They didn't send me a text saying they weren't coming until like an hour after 6:00. Today, I called them and they're busy. I've had a bad experience with that company. I'll be patient. It's just not nice to wait for six hours and then get sent a text, “Oh, I'm not going to make it. Do you want me to help you on the phone?”

    The initial issue with the air conditioning unit was that it wouldn't turn on. The tech that came out was so good and professional. He was Johnny-on-the-spot. He had the part on his truck, which is a good part. He fixed it in no time. It was really a blessing. I'm sure glad I have American Home Shield. We submitted the claim online and it was super easy. It's wonderful because you go in and make a claim and then American Home Shield assigns somebody right away and you get an email. It's so much better than doing the claim by phone.

    Having American Home Shield is a good way to plan homeowner's expenses because then you can rest assured that you're not gonna be blindsided with a big expense. You can keep your house up and running at the best possible level of quality. We recently had something go wrong with the dishwasher and it was covered.

    The old appliance broke and the waterline started leaking. American Home Shield sent out servicemen to take a look at it. At first, they ordered the parts. But the parts were coming from near around Ukraine and they were delayed. They ended up ordering a new dishwasher. The service company was awesome. But it was a three-month issue and it was a poor experience making the service calls and asking for updates with American Home Shield. I sat here for six weeks waiting to hear from somebody. When I called them, that was when they informed me, “We can order you a replacement. We sent you an email.” But I never got that email.

    The air conditioning wasn't turning on, and the techs figured out the problem. They were professional. They had to come back a second time, but it was resolved. I had a previous claim to American Home Shield before that. I did not have a pretty good experience with it because our refrigerator broke down and the person they sent didn’t fix the issue. He was supposed to come back to fix it again. He had to order some parts, but then he never answered the phone after a month. I was without a fridge for like two months. I had to keep calling and see what the issue was. They’re trying to get ahold of the same person because he needed to fill out some paperwork. It was a pretty long process. It took them almost three months to get a new fridge for me because they couldn't fix it. AHS could have contacted another company to try to resolve the issues instead of waiting for one person to come from the same company.

    My outlets weren’t coming on in the kitchen. I contacted American Home Shield by internet on the app. I like the app. New Generation came out the next day. It was a tripped fuse, but you couldn’t tell it was tripped. It was labeled the wrong room, too. So, I didn’t mind. I was hitting the wrong fuses. I felt so stupid. I wasted $100 for somebody to come out here and just push a fuse. Overall, me and American Home Shield had problems. Their program is okay. They get the people out here, but when it comes to replacing something that can’t be fixed, they're horrible. I went without a stove for three months during the holidays. I had to get to a point with them where I had to scream that I wanted a supervisor because I got little kids in here, and I couldn’t feed them. We’re ordering out every night, or using a microwave because they took three months to replace my stove.

    Bill's Appliance has done a really good job every time they have to fix anything in here. Their schedule is really tight, and they try to make it faster than they can. They have the other parts that they need for the job too. I like American Home Shield’s service, but because we live in a really remote area, sometimes it takes a few weeks when we need something. There aren't many vendors that do the job so we have to wait for the only vendor that takes this kind of a call for American Home Shield.

    Our bathroom was flooded. CNJ came out and diagnosed what the problem was. But we still needed the plumber to come out a couple of times later because the toilet was running and it was flushing automatically.     I have coverage in case anything major breaks down. There was water leaking in the back of the freezer that was piling up and becoming ice on the bottom of the freezer, and it would leak out.     The refrigerator would freeze but wouldn't get cold. I went online to submit a claim with AHS then I hadn't heard from them for about a week, so I called them to follow up on it. I got an email that the contractor was Master Pro and that if I hadn't heard from them in 48 hours, I should reach out to them. I had to keep calling them just get them to even set up an appointment. And every time I called them, they would either not answer or put me on hold, and kept telling me they were busy. Then they were having computer issues and it took me almost two weeks to get them to schedule an appointment. So I wouldn't recommend them.

    When the tech came out, he replaced the control panel and after he put the control panel in, the refrigerator started to leak. I called American Home and they told me they would get the tech back out. But they wanted to walk away from my claim and I had to keep going back to American Home Shield to get them involved. I didn't like the fact that I had to continue to go between them and AHS, back and forth, to get my problem resolved. In the end, AHS sent someone else to fix the issue.

    AHS is outstanding. I've never had a problem with them and they've replaced different things for me for minimum service fees. Recently, the microwave quit working. I submitted a claim and I got a email that A&E was going to show up. It also had their phone number, the time, and the date of the appointment. The first time they were supposed to show up, my wife stayed home and they didn't show up. And at 6:00 at night, they finally called me and said they would need to reschedule it. I kept doing automated updates and they kept pushing the time back. And eventually, the technician from Sears called up, said that they were overbooked, and that they would have to come back on Monday.

    The first tech who came out was a young man and he was respectful. He opened the door to the microwave and looked down at the nameplate. He saw that the part number was there, but the upper half of it was worn off. He didn't even diagnose it and just left. I called him back and he said he couldn't order parts. So, I came home and I found the part number on the internet. I compared it to the microwave part number that was there, then another tech came out. The guy troubleshot a couple of switches and that still didn't fix the issue. So, we ordered new parts, which came yesterday, and we're waiting for him to come back to complete the repair. This second tech that came in was a complete professional and very knowledgeable. I couldn't ask for him to do more. But we don't know what's going to happen the next time when they come out on the 17th.

    The refrigerator wasn't cooling, so I called American Home Shield and told them I didn’t know what was going on, but maybe there was a leak in the freon. I got an email back from American Home Shield and it wasn't even 24 hours. They said that they had assigned it to Premier Appliance Repair. I got an email from Premier and they said that somebody would call. Sure enough, somebody called on Monday, and they assigned somebody. They asked me some questions and I gave them the answers as best I could.

    They had a guy come out within two or three days and the freezer was working fine. It was the bottom section so he pulled it out. He looked at it and said there was no leak in the freon. The motor was running. I said, “Inside the lower compartment, you can adjust the temperature to the factory setting. Then you can either go to the left to make it a little warmer, or you can go to the right to make it colder. But the only way I can get this refrigerator to work is if I crank it way over to the right to make it as cold as possible, then the motor will run.” He said he knew what the problem was. He turned it back to the factory setting, whacked with his fist right where the temperature selector is, which is center of the refrigerator top, right underneath the freezer in the refrigerator section, and the motor kicked right on.

    He said I had a bad thermostat and he had to order a thermostat but with supply chain issues, it would be a minimum of two weeks. I cranked it way back over to the right. I waited exactly two weeks, but I didn't hear from him, so I called Premier and asked what was the deal. They called me right back and said the part should be there within a day or two. A couple of days later, they called me and said, “The parts here. Let's go ahead and schedule the repair.” The whole process took about three weeks. The same repair guy that was there the first time came back. He took the thermostat unit out and put the new one in. It took him 15 minutes to take it apart and put it back together, and it's been working fine since then.

    The kitchen sink was backed up. The tech was awesome. He came out in the heat, and he let me know that he was on his way. He came earlier than they had projected him to come. He asked if it was okay if he came earlier. He came all the way from San Jose to Bakersfield on a weekend. So I was very pleased with that. Overall, the claims process is good, except that it's hard to understand the person that you're talking to because they're not from here. I've only asked American Home Shield once to have a particular company out of Los Angeles not come back to my home because I didn't find their technicians to be very good. They didn't seem to know the job, and they wanted to refer it to somebody else. So I don't allow that. But other than that, it has been a wonderful experience.

    AHS seems to be a worthwhile monthly expense regarding their premiums. Each time I called them out, they have corrected the problem, may it be a stove or a refrigerator. We recently had a plumbing issue. We have galvanized pipes here and there were these pipe leaks all over the place. They had to replace quite a few different pipes in the utility closet, including a water heater. Water was coming out from everywhere and it was a big mess. The techs appeared to do a very good job and they came out twice to fix the problem. They were personable and professional as well.

    My air conditioning unit went out and stopped blowing hot air. The gentleman from Harbor Air said that it was the coil. There was some work that needed to be done to the coil and it was not covered under my plan. I had to pay out of pocket and I wasn’t too pleased about that. Also, I feel that there's too big of a gap in the length of time to place the call and get service. It used to be within the day or two days but now it's a week. I had to have my air condition serviced and it took almost three weeks to do the diagnostics and for the parts to come in.

    When my refrigerator went on the blink back in December of 2020, I placed the call to get it repaired and the part was backordered. I was told it was gonna be about two weeks. Then, I was told six weeks. March came and the part never came. I was frustrated. I asked for a replacement. The gentleman who I spoke with, the manager, was very rude and disrespectful to me as a customer. It ended up an aftermarket part was put on the refrigerator. Then I get a call in July of last year and they asked me if I was still waiting for the part. Prior, if the part was not repaired, they would replace my refrigerator. I don't know what the deal with the program is now. I came very close to canceling my account with American Home Shield as a result of that and I wouldn't recommend them.

    American Home Shield sent A-1st to fix my air conditioning that wasn't working. The central air wasn't coming on with the thermostat at all. They had to go out and fix it for me outside. The tech was excellent. He said he had to do some Freon and he fixed the piece and he also changed the air filter on my furnace. My central air is working fine now.

    When I called AHS on the phone to do the claim, the rep told me that I would get an email confirmation. She told me the name of the company. Then she told me that they would call me and set up an appointment within the next couple of hours when they could come out. Right after I did the call with American Home Shield, they called me that next hour and told me they would be out the next day between 10:00 and 2:00. The tech was here at 10:45. I referred American Home Shield to all my colleagues and my family members.

    Our air conditioning wasn't working. I ended up calling the contractor because the initial response was that they would come in a few days. We have individuals who have health issues who can't be in extreme heat in my home. The representative at American Home Shield said they were going to call and have my claim expedited. They said they did and I ended up getting in touch with somebody at Climate Masters who said that we were on the schedule for that they and they would be here. Everything worked out just as we hoped.

They called my husband and showed him what was causing the issue and they were able to rectify it. So, we were very pleased. AHS is great for dealing with tenants and getting quick repairs.     Recently, our central air went out. American Home Shield had a reputable company come out and check on it for us. The technician was fine. The problem today is trying to get parts, and that is not anything to do with the technician or AHS. It's just the way the country is right now. Unfortunately, we don't have American companies making parts. I've gone through the same thing with my microwave and dryer. It's a nightmare right now trying to get things fixed. You can get a technician, but they have to come back when they can get the parts.

    But as far as AHS and the technician, I've been very pleased. I've recommended it and had two more people take out AHS because of my recommendation. Because you never ever know when that surprise visit of something breaking is going to happen. I’d rather pay the premium. It's like home insurance. You pay that premium for the what ifs. Because it can happen to anyone. And it always seems to happen at the worst possible time. It's nice to know that for a small deductible, you can get a company to come out and do your repairs. That company has already been vetted by AHS. They have a contract with someone who has been in business for a while.

    I tell all the young couples that don't have money and retired people that they're on a fixed income, that is the way to go. You plan and they will take it out by the month. It's right out of your checking account if you want them to. And that way, you know what you're going to pay, you budgeted for it, and you don't have all those big surprises. And they have been very good with me.

    We bought a house two years ago. In the first year, we had the microwave and stove go out and AHS replaced both of them. They could not get the parts, so they replaced them both. And they allowed me to take a check for the amount that they could have replaced that identical device for. And I was able to go and get an upgrade by using their money. I was happy and they're happy because I got a brand-new product and I'm still playing insurance. So, that worked for both of us. They’ve been very fair with what they work with you.

    The toilet was clogged up and the water leaked through the roof. The guy from Infinity Plumbing came out and made sure there was no further water damage and that the plumbing was okay. He was professional and since the service, everything has been working properly. All in all, AHS saves me money on a few things. But I have an issue with the upstairs AC problem that's still not resolved. A couple of people came out to check it out and we sought out a second opinion. The company said that they thought this unit may need to be replaced but I never heard anything else back from American Home Shield after that. My wife and I called a couple times but we got no solution and it's been about two months. Usually, everything's resolved whenever we have claim.     This is only my second time doing a claim and we did it through American Home Shield’s online service. It was fairly good. I loved it. Once our claim was filed for our water heater, they told us that because it takes precedence over several other things, whatever other issues that people have, they would get us within the next cancellation. So, we were scheduled two days out. Then, they called us and said that they had a cancellation so they can put us in even earlier.     The house is not brand new and anything could go wrong at any time. A plumbing issue can be very costly. The protection we get with American Home Shield is not too expensive. The value is great for what it offers. It's also a good thing we can do a claim online ‘cause sometimes it takes a while to get to a representative. It’s a time-saver. Recently, there was an issue with the lights in the kitchen and there was another issue with the light in the bedroom. Then the main light stopped. The contractor did a temporary fix, but they said it might stop working again at any time. The only way to fix it permanently was to replace the whole unit. It took them time to process and to order the light. Eventually, they replaced it and there's been no issues ever since.

    I'm having an AC issue and I just had a company come out Friday. Then my AC goes out again Saturday and I called back to get somebody there. But the problem is, when you call, it always go over to a foreigner and you can't get in touch with American representative. American Home Shield told me I had to pay for a different company to come out. But by the time they got somebody, it ain't gonna be till Monday or Tuesday before they get out. What bothers me is because these contractors that they're using, especially the 247 people, they don't call you. They just text you. I asked them to call me. I'm a truck driver and I can't text and drive. Finally, I got somebody to call me back that evening when I was home. But they still said they can't come till Monday.

    I've been having the AC issue for the past six months and every time the contractor comes out, the AC starts working again. They said, "Well, we can't find nothing wrong with it and everything." I said, "Well, there's something wrong for the unit to just keep stop working." It's 16 years old. I told them, "There's something wrong. This is what y'all are paid to do.” Then they said, "But we can't find nothing wrong." Then they leave.

    I like American Home Shield. When something breaks or needs repair, I just call them and pay the fee and they assign me to a contractor and the contractor comes out and takes care of the problem. It's very convenient. United Air Temp came out for the AC unit. The tech replaced something and it started to get cold within like minutes. We were just standing there watching the temperature go down from 91.

    Overall, AHS is convenient and reliable. The only gripe that I did have with the AC people is that it was steaming hot and I called back to see what my appointment time was and the rep said from 8:00 in the morning to midnight, but he's going to call. I called American Home Shield to ask why would they refer me to a contractor that's on call and I have to sit up and wait from 8:00 in the morning to midnight. The contractor came around 1:00. So, I was fine with that. Other than that, I've been satisfied with the service.

I called back to American Home Shield, and they contacted Billy's Air Conditioning. They're gonna come back out on Monday to check what the problem is. We have been customers of American Home Shield for 20 years and so far, they're very much customer service oriented. They fixed all of the stuff we had them fix.

    Every time I've called AHS, whoever they said they were going to call, called within hours sometimes. Then they'd come out and do the work professionally and courteously. When I needed an appliance repair in the kitchen, I called AHS and within less than a day, the techs called and scheduled an appointment. The next day, they came out, identified what needed repair, ordered the part, and came back less than a week later to repair it. They repaired two different appliances. One had no problem then they had to come back and fix something else. But that wasn't on them. Something else broke and fell under it.

    My ice cube maker was broken. The tech came out and he diagnosed it pretty quickly. He replaced it in over 30 minutes. He was very helpful. He explained to me how the water filtration system works. So he had to replace my filter and then he showed me how to do that also. He did a really good job.

    Our water heater was getting flooded every other day. So, we would have to suck the water out of it with a Shop-Vac and then restart the water heater. So, we had to get a whole new water heater.     The turnaround when AHS advertises is 24 to 48 hours but that's not true at all and when the technician turns in whatever they found at your house, they don't even bother to call you. You have to call them to find out what's going on with your claim. I got a claim right now and I had to pay three deductibles to get my dryer, which they're finally gonna replace. They replaced the heating element the first time but a week later, the door stopped working again. The contractor came back out and at the time, the heating element went out again. The tech told me he had to order a part for the door. On the third time they came out, they decided to replace it. But that's three deductibles I had to pay.

    Also, my plumbing issue just got addressed. I have paid them three different deductibles to come out here to check my washing machine, where water was coming from under. They checked it out when they checked the dryer and they said the washing machine was fine and I needed a plumber to come out. The plumber came out and he didn't see any leaks. It has totally messed up my flooring now. When the guy came out this last time to check my dryer, he opened up my water heater door. He said the bottom of it is rotten out. They told me they're gonna replace the water heater and it's gonna cost me $900. They take out the 125 deductible every time I make a claim immediately but they can't send anybody out here to check my appliances or do anything for me for weeks. That makes no sense to me when they advertise 24 to 48 hours.

    Everything went pretty well with my most recent claim to American Home Shield. Backyard installed a new pump. They still need to come back and make some adjustments to the control, but the guy asked me if it was okay to wait a little while because he was just leaving on vacation. I said, "Yes, it's okay." I'm fairly certain he'll come back.

    As far as AHS, I called their customer service at one point and I spoke to someone who was probably someone from out of the country. I asked for a supervisor and it seemed like all they knew was talking points. So, it was a little frustrating to talk to them, but it got worked out. Also, there was a little dispute in the price, but the contractor straightened that out. Overall, AHS saved me a bunch of money just now.

    The dishwasher wouldn't run through a cycle. It never dissolved soap and it looked like there might be water that went through. I called AHS's number that was on the policy that our Realtor had given us and there was somebody on the phone right away. They contacted Heritage Appliance Services and they gave me the number and said if I hadn't heard from them in 24 hours, I was to call them. I didn't hear from them in 24 so I gave them a call and the man found the claim right when it was. That was a Friday and then it was the three-day weekend with the 4th. He said he would try to come out in the afternoon.

    He came and he knew exactly what had happened. The motor had to be primed. It had frozen up because it hadn't been used. He got it started and it worked great. I wasn't expecting anything until that Tuesday, the fifth of July, but he came on that Friday and was just real helpful. He was a nice guy. If I didn't have the warranty and if I had to call somebody myself, I would call him back. He seemed to really care about getting it done. It was a real good experience for us, being the first time we had to call for something to be repaired in our own house.

    I had a plumbing problem and American Home Shield sent a notice saying that the plumber was coming out from this company but when I contacted the company, they were out of business. I called the 800 number and talked with an agent. She said she would try to get in contact with someone in my area and if she can't get with someone by midnight, then I'm free to find someone on my own and they would reimburse me. I didn't hear from her so the next morning, I got someone but it turned out that the home warranty wouldn't reimburse me. They said that they don't know who it was that gave me that authorization but that the rep I talked to wasn't authorized. I was disappointed about that but other than that, it has been good with AHS.

    American Home Shield seems to be fairly good. I did two separate requests. One was for a dryer that they eventually had replaced. The problem was that something was leaking, and it was causing a short. It just stopped working. The other request was for a dishwasher where there was a leak. The repair people came out after a week, then it took a week to get the parts. All in all, it took two and a half weeks to get the dishwasher fixed, and now, it seems to be working fine. A home warranty is like any insurance. You don’t appreciate it till you need it.

    I just had a repair for my central air and I had to pay $600 for two pounds of Freon in addition to the 125 for the call. That’s a lot of money to come out of pocket. If I needed three pounds, that's almost $1,000. I don't understand why American Home Shield does not include Freon in the plan. Since this has happened, it’s not cost-effective but prior, it's been working for me. The only complaint I had before was my refrigerator icemaker wasn't working, and they refused to repair the refrigerator. I just bought a new refrigerator, and I think they should reimburse me for at least half. I paid $150 for the service call, too.

    As far as submitting a claim and speaking to someone about a pending claim, the hold time is way too long. On average, you may be on hold for at least 20 minutes. When I needed service last year, I was on hold for about four hours just to get information about the stove that they repaired. The stove was so old, and they no longer made parts. So, I had to choose a new stove. It was a daunting task getting that done, but the person who finally picked up and helped me was excellent and very helpful.

    Our air conditioning unit was not cooling and I made a claim with American Home Shield. I like to have a confirmation that the information was processed and I could go in there and see that the claim was submitted. My problem with the whole thing was that initially, they gave the work order to another company. That company never contacted me and I could never get through to anybody using the phone number that was online that I saw in the work order. I called American Home Shield back and they were able to get in touch with the company. The company was going to be delayed with the service.

    I then got connected with Comfort Heating & Cooling. They were excellent and they responded faster as far as calling me to set up an appointment time. They were able to come on a date but it was going to be a day when I was actually headed out of town so we agreed upon a date when I would be back. They were able to come out that morning after I got back from vacation and they got me going. It didn't take them long.

    American Home Shield does a good job of responding and the technicians have generally been very good. However, it takes so long for someone to get out. For example, I have no water right now and I haven't had for three days. There's no deal for emergencies. They don't seem to care if you're without water or electricity. American Home Shield needs to have contractors to have an emergency type crew that can get out to the house because going without water for five or six days is not much fun. I called them on Tuesday about this water leak, and they sent somebody out. But they discovered that they couldn't do anything with it and would have to have a leak detect company come out. Now the leak detect company won't be out here until Sunday afternoon, so that's a bummer because I've had to turn the water off to the house.

    My dishwasher was making a funny noise. I heard a drip underneath the kitchen sink. When I opened it up and looked underneath there, it was wet. I called American Home Shield and they sent Poe's Plumbing out. They looked at it, and they determined that it might have been backed up, but they couldn't find any leak. They couldn't determine what exactly made the water overflow but thought it might be an issue with some grease and recommended I run hot water periodically through the drain to mellow out any grease that could be in there. I was sitting here watching the whole time and they did a good job.

    I had a problem with an oven, which was an electric stove, and I had a problem with a ceiling fan. I submitted a claim with AHS for both and I learned that they should be separate. But if you're having two electrical problems, why would they be separate? It doesn't make a lot of sense. But for the most part, I haven't had any complaints with American Home Shield because they seem to stand by their advertisement and philosophy that if they can't fix something, they'll replace it.

    Everything was resolved on my electrical issues but we had to go back and forth and I had to end up coming out of my pocket to finish what I wanted. I understand when they said they were going to give me the basics but my thing is, as a consumer and I have a product that go bad, I should be given the option of having the same thing or something pretty close to what I had go bad. For the ceiling fan, they only authorized the repairman X amount of dollars to put back a basic fan. The first repairman opted out and they had to send another one out here. And the problem was, he said his organization had gotten to the point where they didn't like always having to get into it with the customer because the customers stayed ahead. He said he should be able to get it, which I agree should be the fact, but American Home Shield didn't see it that way.

    The AC unit that's outside, one of the central units, started shaking and making horrible grinding sounds. That was when it was 105 degrees. We got a wall unit and put it in, because all the air completely stopped. When the repair guy came out, I told him that it stopped because it was making a bad grinding sound. He said, “It might be your fan that's going out," but he never changed that. He said the compressor was bad so he changed that. A week later, the unit did it again, and it completely stopped working, so the repair guy had to come back out again and replace the fan. Now, there's something on the grate on the top and I don't know what that is. I also don't know if I'm gonna have to do a recall on that. I'm waiting on somebody I know who does HVAC to come and take a look at it. Because if it's just rigged up, the repair company is gonna come out here for the third time and fix it completely.

    I did the service request through a representative on the phone, and it was fine. The rep helped me, and even the second time I had to call back for a recall. I wanted to make sure I was not stuck paying another deposit when from the beginning I said what was wrong. American Home Shield reassured me that it was a recall and they were gonna come out. The repair company was not very happy about it, but if the issue would have been fixed from the get-go, I wouldn't have had to call again. Home Shield was very good with helping me and getting them to come out. My contract’s coming to an end, so I'm getting ready to go ahead and redo that. My mom should be signing up as well. Because I told her about all the different plans that there was.

    I've been with American Home Shield for two years and the service is fine, including my most recent service. Thanks to them, they've replaced everything in the air conditioning system. My air conditioning company that comes to service has been trying to get me my new air conditioning system for four years. Since I've had AHS, they keep patching the old one up, telling me, "Hey, this has got some years," but I just wanted the air conditioning to work. So, this last session, I thought they would say, "Well, this thing is just kaput," but they didn't. But it needed a new motor. So now, we have a brand-new motor and everything's working fine. I like AHS. They're very responsive. I realized all the air conditioning people are swamped this time of year. And twice that I had air conditioning problems, AHS booked someone immediately and they've been out there the next day. I appreciate that because it's hard to live here without air conditioning.

    A couple of times, I had to cancel service but when I looked at my statement, it looked like I was charged for both of those. So then, I called American Home Shield. They said they'd have someone call me, but no one ever called me. I'm thinking that it got cancelled. I didn't remember seeing it on my credit card. So, I'm kind of confused. On my last service, I didn't realize for my pool that the pool pump is covered to be fixed but not replaced. I had had this pump serviced now about three times. I’ve been paying for it. I should have just bought a new one. They sent me some paperwork on that as to why I can’t get a new one. Now, I’m a few hundred deep into fixing it, and I have to go and buy a new one. I should have never done that. It's not so great with it so far.

    Other than that, everyone that I’ve had out for service has been great. It’s just a big company. So, it’s a little tricky. When I call, some of the people may not have English as a first language. So, sometimes, that makes it tricky. I just figured out, for the serviceman that’s coming tomorrow, how I can make an appointment online. It was really easy. So, I’m gonna do it that way from now on because calling in, sometimes there’s a bit of a language barrier. It said that I was being charged $100, and then I got another email that says there'll be no charge because the same thing had been fixed on the pool within the last 30 days.

But he said it was not a plumbing issue and that it was an air conditioning problem. So it's not solved yet and it's messing up my wall.     I've used American Home Shield several times since I've been signed up with it and it's been good. I like the fact that I can call them, they send an electrician out, and I only pay my deductible. The parts and labor are covered. That's a big plus in my book. We were recently having an issue. It turned out to be an electrical issue. We got an electric dryer and we thought the dryer wasn't heating to dry the clothes. But it turned out to be it was a breaker that needed replacing. The representatives that came out were very helpful. The only complaint is it took about five days before they got somebody out.

    I've had American Home Shield with both houses that I've owned and I've only used it twice. But each time, it's been a really good experience. When I made my recent claim, it was about 4:00 in the afternoon, and then the next day before 8:00 am, the place called me to set up an appointment and they had availability the next day. The guy came out and fixed it within 45 minutes. It was something to do outside and it needed two pounds of Freon. They charge $170 for the pound. But with American Home Shield, they only pay $10 per pound. So I paid $320 out of pocket.

    American Home Shield is expedient. They got people that are knowledgeable about their job. Recently, my dishwasher wouldn't work. I called AHS, said I needed somebody to come look at my dishwasher. The tech came and diagnosed it. Something was burned out that couldn't be replaced. It was sent in for a replacement, he came and installed the replacement.

    I haven't had great experience with the service people. When I first got here, my refrigerator went out. That was right before Christmas and AHS sent the guy out. He said it was fixed and two days before Christmas, it broke down. So, I wasn't gonna have any service. I had to buy another refrigerator to put in the garage because my kids were coming down for Christmas and so I had all this food. The tech came back and fixed it a second time. It was 35 days so I had to pay another $100. I was like, "Wait a minute, this guy keeps coming back to fix this refrigerator." I asked the rep and she said, "We have to get him to cash it out." I asked, "Would you if you know you can keep coming back and fixing it?”

    After the fourth time he came, I was like, "Don't send him back." AHS sent someone else and as soon as the tech came, he said, "Oh wow. The other tech was putting antifreeze in and it was leaking. That's against the law. He doesn't have the part for this refrigerator. So he had to cash it out. AHS gave me $1,400 and that is not going to buy a thing. So, I had to put money with it.

    My air conditioner went out on July 5th. May Heating and Air has to be the worst air conditioning company in the world. They were really nice but when the tech came the first time, he was there 10 minutes and he said, "Oh, it's fixed now. Give it six hours to get cool." It didn't get cool so I called back. He said that I had to get put back on the schedule which meant another six days.

    He came back and he said he fixed the problem. He said he was putting a motor in it because the motor had gone bad. A few days after that, the AC did it again and it was 90-something degrees in the house. I had to call back and the guy said, Well, I can't find out what's wrong with it. It must be internal, because it had clicked on.” And so he left, and somebody came back because the unit did it again five times. For the whole month of July, leading into August, I was without air. I'm spending money and my electric bill doubled.

    The guy from May Heating and Air said, “Oh, it's antifreeze.” I said. “That's funny. You all been out here four times.” And he's like, “It’s antifreeze now.” Okay, so I paid him an additional $119 to put antifreeze in it. The guy from C&C who actually fixed it had to take antifreeze out. He said it's over antifreeze in there and I just paid the week before to get antifreeze. C&C was amazing. The tech told me what the problem was. The AC came on and the tech waited a minute. When he heard it click, he went back in there. He said the other tech put the motor on but they didn't do something with it. So, it was burnt and it couldn't work.

    I was frustrated with American Home Shield. In Texas, I had no problem with them. This time, I called and I could not really understand the lady rep or she couldn't understand me. I wanted somebody to be a little bit more sympathetic. When I told her, I said, “Hey, they just left and it's about to be the weekend. And I've been here for three weeks with no air. I had to leave.” And she was like, “Well, we have to wait 48 hours before we could even schedule them to come.” I said, “What? It's 90 degrees.” She said, "We have to wait and give May Heating and Air another chance.". That was frustrating for me to have to do that twice. I had to go speak to a supervisor.

    I've had good and bad experiences with AHS. For my heating and my central air unit, Long Lane came out and serviced both of them. They were excellent in getting it done in a timely fashion and I have not had to have them come back out for my heat. But I did have to have them come back out for the second time for my air. I've also had them come out to replace a part of my stove and oven. They're always on top, especially if it's something pertaining to heating or cooling. They come out as quick as they possibly can because they understand the urgency due to the weather.

    For my plumbing, I've had the worst experience ever. I've had one plumber come out to me and he fixed the toilet and sink in my bedroom but he was not able to fix the kitchen sink because he didn't have all of the parts. He's supposed to come back. I've called AHS numerous times and paid twice for a plumbing service. I still have a leaky sink that no one has come back out to completely fix and I have ruined the underneath of my kitchen sink. Eventually, I'm going to have to replace it. I also have mildew and mold on the walls underneath my sink. Every time I call, it doesn't even say that I have an open service request for plumbing so I would talk to somebody and they would say they were gonna call the plumber. Then they would call the plumber and say that the plumber is gonna reach out to me. But no one reaches out to me.

    I had a problem with the vendor who had my oven. They couldn't get the part and they told me they were going to notify AHS. But they never did and I went over 30 days without a stove. When I put in a call to that vendor, asking them to reach out to me, I got a text message saying, "We can't get your part.". I never got a phone call. AHS just settled it now and had me send them a card. But I told AHS that I went to Lowe's and priced what a five-burner stove would cost me. They gave me enough for the stove, the tax, and the removal.

    Recently, the tech who came was really good. He explained to me what was going on with my refrigerator. He tried his darndest to figure out how to fix it and he said it's impossible. So, he was going to notify AHS. Two days later, I got a card to go get a replacement. The only problem with that was that AHS didn't give me enough money to buy a fridge. They gave me $1,255, and I ended up spending $1,530. I didn't even get a refrigerator like what I had before. I had an ice maker and I don't have an ice maker on this one.

    So far, I'm really pleased with American Home Shield’s service. I just had two instances where I had to call them. One was for the refrigerator and the icemaker. They came right out, got it fixed, and resolved the problem. So, that was great. The other was for my AC unit and it took a couple of visits. I was without any cooler for one of them for about a week but they came in, got it cleaned up, got it taken care of, and they were very nice about it. The only thing is I was looking through the new contract, and I know they have to be super thorough, but some of it is a little confusing. With this small print and all next to each other, it was hard to see what things were covered or not.

    American Home Shield sometimes assigns contractors that I might not be 100% comfortable with if I were to try to find a contractor on my own. They can improve on 2 things. Number one is clarity on what's included in the coverage and what's not. The website has information out there but I've heard stories about people who have older air conditioning unit that needs the freon that they don't make anymore or is expensive, and something like that doesn't get covered. Number two is the contractors. I had one contractor come and tell me that I needed a new furnace.

    I read a lot of reviews on the plumber that I recently used to fix. That went fine because the guy came in on time and did his job very efficiently. But when I looked up the contractor that American Home Shield had assigned me prior to them coming out, it was a company that had rebranded from their prior company. The reviews on the prior company were atrocious online. 1 star out of 5 for the dozen reviews that were out there. It talked about them being in cahoots with American Home Shield.

    I called American Home Shield that morning before the contractor came. I said, “I’m going on record saying that I'm not comfortable with who you're sending because of the reviews I read.” They said they would try to get a supervisor to come out, but I don't think they did. The guy that came out did fine and got the job but it makes me a little uncomfortable to know that there could be some arrangements that American Home Shield has with contractors to try to find work that conveniently is not included in the warranty.

    I have always had good luck with AHS. I have three homes listed under the policy. Recently, I had an AC problem. They got right on it for me and assigned a repair service. However, it took almost two weeks because with it being the summertime, they are booked. And there are not that many people in this area that are under that contract to do. But the company that came out was good. There was one that we had last summer that AHS had assigned to me that I won't use again.

    The air conditioner stopped working and was blowing hot air. Rather than replacing the whole thing, which you can buy a new air conditioner at Home Depot for about $3,000 to $4,000, Honesty Mechanical, the assigned contractor, wanted $3,547 to rebuild it and that 3,547 was coming out of my pocket. They showed up in a timely manner but their price was way too high. I told AHS that I wanted a second opinion and the gentleman that I spoke to was a little hard to understand, but he was extraordinarily good. He scheduled the second opinion company to come out and they said it was $1,600 out of my pocket. I am not saying that anyone is trying to screw anyone else over, but maybe they are.

    This other company also called me back and said that with American Home Shield, you have to repair an appliance even if it is over 20 years old. He said there was the part that they could modify that would then go on our air conditioner and make it work. They said that the only way that you get a whole new air conditioner is if there's no way to repair the old one. As years go by, people come up with new parts and pieces that can be generic and fit all sorts of different things. So, by American Home Shield requirements, the techs are required to repair an appliance instead of replacing it. That is really stupid because the new parts will be too strong for the old motors. So then the old motor’s going to die and then I'm going to have to pay to update the old motor as well. It's a vicious cycle.

    In the end, I decided that I'm going to have to repair the ACs because unfortunately, without American Home Shield covering a replacement, it's going to be about $17,000 to replace the two units on the one home. So the repairs are going to be about 2,000 to 3,000 with the other company and I'm just going to have to pay for that.

    I also have a broken down refrigerator and AHS is giving me enough money that I'm going to be able to go out and get myself a brand new refrigerator. They've also done that with dishwashers and several other different things. But when I had three air conditioners die all at the same time, they don't want to replace an air conditioner. They lie when they get you to sign up and say that the air conditioners will be covered. It turns out that they're only covered if you agree to pay out of pocket to get them modified. They're old air conditioners that still use Freon and now Freon is outlawed. So, you automatically have to change the air conditioners to a new type of air conditioner. So why not just replace the whole thing instead of making you pay almost as much as what you would pay to buy a new one over at Home Depot or Lowe's. It's ridiculous.

    We've only put in one request for service this year, and that was not very long ago. We were told that somebody would come in a couple of days. And we were contacted and said it would be another week. That didn't sit very well with us. My husband dealt with the person that came out. He said they seemed to be very knowledgeable.

    American Home Shield has too many people that cannot be understood. Both my husband and I have some hearing difficulties, but everybody has an accent that it's very difficult to follow what's being said by most of AHS' employees. Also, I'm extremely disappointed because of what we went through. We were contacted several times during January. Our renewal date was January 28th. Several times before that, we were contacted. The one time, the man said that since we would be upgrading to this new service that AHS had, we could have $100 discount. I told him that I would check with my husband and he could call back in a couple of days. It was getting towards the 28th so I called in. The person that I spoke with in AHS' sales department apparently must have been new.

    Calls and calls and calls, trying to collect the $100 that we didn't owe. They repeatedly called and wanted to have their $100. Very upsetting. And we were told many times it was being taken care of, and we’d get another call. I'm disappointed that AHS would be that low as to treat customers like that. We had been a customer for a long time.

    Someone came out a little over a week after I submitted a claim. He was not able to remedy the issue with my refrigerator. Kasey's Appliance came out next but they weren't able to remedy the issue either. They had the same diagnosis. American Home Shield sent someone else out here and they came over yesterday. They let American Home Shield know the same thing.

    Before the third tech came over, I was telling American Home Shield that the first two gentlemen that came were already saying that the refrigerator was not repairable. The second one was also saying they can repair the seal system if the home warranty wants them to repair it. However, because the refrigerator is almost 15 years old, it's not worth repairing. I talked to two supervisors at American Home Shield and instead of them even sending the same company back, they sent another company and they say the same thing. The tech tried to repair it but whatever he was doing didn't work. I'm waiting to hear from the home warranty and I'm going on a month now.

    Another thing was I needed to make sure my policy with American Home Shield was not automatically renewed because I received an email from them saying, "Your policy will be automatically renewed." I called to make them aware not to renew my policy. After a lot of conversation with the representative, they finally transferred me to an individual who told me that she could not put that on the computer. I have to wait 60 days prior to renewal and that wouldn't be until May 1st of next year. I was not very happy with that. That's not right and they're setting up the consumer so they forget to call 60 days prior. I consider that to be a fraudulent activity.

    It's hard to get in contact with anybody in American Home Shield because you have one number to call and that number automatically takes you to a representative. The representative is the same person that you call for your ticket for whatever problem that you have. They are trained to talk to you and try to resolve this problem themselves. You're consistently bantering back and forth with them then they'll put you on hold, come back and say they can't get their supervisor. It took me more than one time until I finally got to a young lady named Porsche and she was the one that told me that I have to wait 60 days prior.

So, that money's gone but when I did need them, the part was only under $100. Using them is fine. You never know what kind of repair you're going to have, and it's covered by them.     The unit wasn't cooling off. The thermostat was set on 74 and the temperature in the house kept reading 81 or 80. The tech from Comfort First came out and he diagnosed the issue fairly quickly but he had to come out a second time because it still isn't where it's supposed to be.     When you get a service through AHS, it takes longer because you have to go through them, then they have to call somebody in your area. When the air conditioner shut off, we submitted a claim an the techs came out. They said it was a fan and the repair took four days. It took a little longer than I would have liked because it was so hot. At first, they came out and they had the wrong part. Then we got another one and they put it in. After that, we flipped a breaker and the AC came back on.

    I put a service order towards the evening and got an email stating that within the next business day, we would be contacted by a plumbing company. Someone called later the next day in the morning and was able to squeeze us in that day. The tech was very friendly, on time, very knowledgeable, very thorough, and courteous. He was worried that the pilot element would go out so he rearranged his schedule to get us in the next day to put that hot water heater in. That was really great. The girls at work would say that their refrigerator went out and I ask them if they have American Home Shield. I explain to them what that is and tell them that they need to sign up.

    D Barretto's came out for a problem we had with a backed up drain behind one of our appliances. We had water coming from a backed up drain behind our washing machine under a wood floor and then seeping through it. The tech came out twice. The second time, he thoroughly snaked it. It seems like the snaking procedure he did solved the problem. The drain appears to be cleared now.

    I like that we have American Home Shield available because I don't know what we would have done on some appliances if we didn't have some type of policy. I'm satisfied with the work that we've gotten done. We're getting value for what we pay. It's just the communications network is really miserable. We're getting call centers overseas where there's a big time lag. Then there's a real communications breakdown between Home Shield and some of the vendors they use. On some of the calls, we've had to wait a week and then they get rescheduled. There's no one to communicate with in between because some of the vendors they use are part of the old Sears network. There's no number you can call directly to reach anyone. It goes to another call center in some other part of the world. It doesn't mean that you don't get service. You just don't get reassurance that you're reaching someone who's going to do something until it really happens.

    I've called American Home Shield two times for some plumbing issues, and it was pretty easy. They sent us emails and notifications and let us know that the company will give us a call, then they tell us when and then a date and time. The first time I called, it was something related to my water heater. The water wasn't hot enough and we wanted to know if it was working properly or something needed to be fixed. The contractor that came was good. There could be some things here and there that could be better, but the warranty only covers certain things, and it worked out. Overall, I would definitely recommend American Home Shield. It would be a good warranty to have.

Advanced Appliance Services came out and the tech said that this particular pipe wasn't welded properly or was loosening up.     I called American Home Shield twice. First, I had an AC issue. The technician found the problem and fixed the unit. For the second call, it was for plumbing. That's almost two weeks now. The contractor called me and gave me a date. Then they called me after two hours and told me they could not make it. They gave me another day but I told them I couldn't do it that day. I told them, "I'll be off Friday. Tell me the time and I'll be at home all day." They didn't respond.

    The next time that I called them to be here, they sent me a message and told me that I had to talk to American Home Shield so they can make another ticket. The company already charged the $125. They need another ticket to charge again. I called American Home Shield and told everything that happened to the rep. The rep told me, "I get it now. I took a note, and I gotta call them and see what happened. I will get back to you." But I never heard from them and it's been a week. American Home Shield always answers me and gets the people to do the job. Usually, the other people that I use always call. But these ones don't call. They just text. With the text, it was a little more difficult for me.

    The water wasn't coming out like it's supposed to. The tech came and showed me that the reason why my water wasn't coming out was because there was trash and dirt that filtered through these lines and it had clogged the line up. He showed me everything and was telling me that you couldn't clean this line out. So, that meant that the faucet wasn’t any good. It was a special faucet my wife had ordered when she got the bathroom done. We got a new faucet and the guy we had was very to the point and was a cool person. He was a young guy with very good manners.

    The AC was turning on, but it was not cooling. The tech responded quickly to our request. He was at my home the same day I opened the claim, which was great. He was able to repair it. He was also very detailed. He inspected all the components on the air outlet. And he was professional and answered all of our questions. The service was great.

    I know it's not part of American Home Shield's policy but some recommendations for ac preventive maintenance would be great. Because instead of waiting until the AC is broken, maybe we can also do something in advance to prevent the disruption. But I like that as a customer, I can have access to a larger network of providers. Also, I feel more secure to open the door of my house to someone coming in because it’s someone that's coming through American Home Shield and not a stranger. I also have a confidence that whoever is working on the repairs is going to do a good job because they are somehow under the umbrella of a larger company.

    I had two claims with American Home Shield. I had my stove looked at and I had the garage door opener. The experience I had with technician who came for my stove was very ugly. He wouldn’t give me the opportunity to tell him exactly what was going on with my stove. He said that he couldn’t find anything wrong with the appliance so I asked for a second opinion. The second company that came out found what was wrong.

    It was the same thing on my garage door opener. The first guy that came out there said that the board on the opener was bad. Apparently, that guy quit. Another guy from that same company came out and said that my board has gone up because my garage doors were unleveled, which was not true. I asked for a second opinion and the next company that came out replaced the board. I wouldn’t be without American Home Shield. Their service went smoothly, except for the contractors. But that worked itself out. I also like the idea that you can do claims online.

    We put in a claim for our refrigerator over 3 months ago. Service came and said we needed two new control panels (GE Monogram). AHS only approved one. Refrigerator still not working properly, service came out again and said the other panel needed to be replaced. Waited another month only to hear they were unable to obtain the part. Called AHS, they said they would send out the tech to take our panel out and refurbish. Okay with us because we just want our fridge to be fixed. Fast forward another two weeks. Nothing. No work from service, no word from AHS. We called yet again. They said they would give us $400 which would be the cost to refurbish. Of course we said no to their measly check and said just refurbish the part. Still waiting....no one has come out to get the part from our fridge to refurbish, AHS said the service people need to call us, the service people say AHS needs to call them (which apparently they haven't).

    Going on month 4 without a fridge at this point. Still no appointment. No calls. We have had to call both the service people and AHS several painful times to get this situation resolved, to no avail. My conclusion at this point is that AHS will continue with this charade for as long as they want without having to replace what their contracted rate is for this appliance. Unacceptable. Absolutely 100% unacceptable. Very unhappy customer. Exactly how long do we wait before they tell us they can't fix the appliance and they will just replace it as advertised? I'll answer that, FOREVER.

    We had work on a furnace and on a fridge in two different places. It's very difficult to get through American Home Shield every single time. It's a long wait and when you get someone, it's a day before anybody calls you back to say that they assigned you to someone. Then you got to wait for that company they signed you to to call you back. Sometimes, it's a two, three-day process.

    We've experienced some contractors that have been good. The ones who worked on the HVAC have been horrible. We call American Home Shield if we have an issue with any of the contractors and they listen, but we don't see a change. They give the standard language, but I don't see anything. They call me and say, "I apologize," or, "I'm gonna give you back some of your money because you had to wait." I've been on this plan for five or more years because I was hoping that it would save me money in the long run. But a friend of mine told me about the service that they were getting from Amazon. It's cheaper and it sounds like they've had much better experiences. I'm seriously considering that one.

    I've had three different things come up since I have signed up with American Home Shield. The last one was very good but the first two were very bad. I told myself that on the third one with the pool, if it wouldn't go according to how I felt it satisfied me as the customer, I was gonna eliminate it since it was not worth me paying the $50 something a month. Recently, my pool pump went out. I added the extra coverage for that just to have it. The company we used called me right away. As soon as I hung up, within a half an hour, the guy called. He came out, answered all my questions and fixed everything. I have a job where I live on the road. I have to have people to be able to go in there when I'm not home and be able to take care of things. That was a very good experience.

    My very first attempt to use American Home Shield was over a year ago where I had a garage door problem. They said, "Give us 24 hours, we'll contact you.” I said, “I can't wait 24 hours. My car is stuck in the garage, and I can't get my door open. I gotta catch a plane." My wife also had to get to work. I told them I had a door company that could come out right then and at least get my car out. That wasn't good enough. I realized that we need to use the people that signed up with American Home Shield but there could be a clause that says to waive that a little bit in case of emergency. I ended up paying for that myself. That bill came to 350 bucks. It bothers me that there's not a little more flexibility in the program.

    The next thing that happened was my home air conditioning. My air conditioner is not that old. It was about seven years old. But when you live in Florida, you're using it all the time. In Florida, the average lifespan of an air conditioner is seven to nine years before you have to start replacing major things. What American Home Shield wanted to do was send somebody out and replace the parts. I was being told the parts were gonna take somewhere between 10 to 13 days. I couldn't have a 95-degree weather and wait for these parts to come in. I got my person who could come out right then. It ended up that I foot the bill for $6,000 because I needed a whole new air conditioning unit. American Home Shield didn't pay for it because they wanted to wait for their guys to come out, take two or three major parts totally out of there that would have cost probably $3,000 and wait 10 days for them to come back.

    Water wouldn't stop running in my washing machine. So, it kept filling up the machine. The doors would bust open and flood the laundry room and other parts of the house. The process with American Home Shield took a little while because they were backed up but it wasn't horrible. It took two weeks for a technician to come. Once he came, he did a diagnosis and knew exactly what was going on. He needed to order a part and once that came in, we had to wait another couple of weeks for him to change it out. He did that pretty quickly.

    I had another claim for my AC that was not cooling. That went well. It got flushed and little maintenance things got done. Having AHS gives me peace of mind that all my appliances are covered. I've never had an issue that wasn't resolved. I'm satisfied. Everybody's been nice and they do what they need to do.

    Some of the contractors are very good. But some of them take a little longer. In the past, I would sit on hold sometimes for over an hour to speak with somebody at American Home Shield. I've used their chat feature, which is a lot better. Before that, they'd call you back rather than having to wait on the line. Sometimes it can be frustrating when things aren't covered. But they have a pretty expansive coverage policy. They're pretty clear of what they do cover and don't. But it takes some reading sometimes.

    One of the eyes of my stove went out and American Home Shield sent out LA Appliance. A guy came and he wired my stove but he put the eye back in and the stove caught fire. I called the company back to have them fix it. One guy said the stove couldn't be fixed and it had to be replaced. I tried to let the company know what was going on because they were taking a long time. I tried to file a complaint with the supervisor but the lady there would never speak to the supervisor. She was unbelievable. I kept getting the runaround and I couldn't ever speak to anybody above that lady. Every time I called, I kept getting her and she was very rude. I tried to get a supervisor's name and number from the technician that came out and he didn't give me one.

    I told American Home Shield about what happened and it’s noted on my contract to never send LA Appliance to my home again because I don't want to deal with them. Even if I have to wait a little longer, that would still be fine. That aside, the other contractor that American Home shield sent out for my claim was very good. They were very nice and courteous. They let me know what was going on every step of the way. They explained everything to me and gave me some tips to prevent the situation from happening again. American Home Shield is very good and I would recommend them to anybody.

    For our plumbing issue, the plumber said that he needed to require some parts in order to fix that. So we were waiting and waiting. The part didn't come to our house, they didn't come to him. We called him many times. We called AHS many times. AHS told me many times, I had to talk with the technician. Because he has to report what was going on. They said they have not received the report. It was back and forth.

    We told American Home Shield that we are going to be out of the country from May to July. We need that to be repaired before we leave. They said, “We are going to try to do our best.” But he didn’t repair that. Before we left, the tech told my daughter that he wasn’t going to repair it because American Home Shield didn't approve.

    If we wanted to repair it, we had to pay $250. Because if he tried to fix it, if it's something that's going to be broken more, American Home Shield is not going to be responsible for that. So we had to pay. I said, "I am not going to pay in advance. When I come back here, I am going to call America Home Shield." When we came back on July 22nd, we called American Home Shield. I said, “I cannot wait more than four months. You have to find somebody to do that.” They found another contractor and that person went and fixed the faucet at once. We had another issue. The air conditioner was broken since Saturday and we called American Home Shield. They gave us a contractor. That technician went today. After 20 minutes, he left. I am not really satisfied with AHS.

    The air conditioner was not coming on. My son called American Home Shield and submitted a claim that the air conditioning was out. When the air conditioning guy came out the first time, he went upstairs, hit the breaker. The air conditioning came on. It worked for two hours and went off again. He thought that it might trip again, and that they would call for an electrician. When the electrician came out two days later, he hit that same button again, came on. Before he could leave, it was back off. I just called them back this time because it's not on again. And he would answer once I called them back. He called me to let me know he was there. I talked with him while he was talking to my son. But soon as he left the house, he never returned the call again. The air conditioning guy came today and said that all the electrician needed to do was change the condenser. The electrician said that he put a whole new breaker in there. But it's still not working.

    The air conditioner went out, and the tech repaired it a couple of months ago. Then it went out again, and they find out now that it needs a compressor. But there's a portion now that I have to pay for them to come back out to fix it. They told me I had to come up with $1,000 in order to get this compressor fixed. But my past claims were good. I'm satisfied with the American Home Shield. It's worth having the warranty.

    I had a policy with American Home Shield a couple of years back before covid came, and I had to terminate my contract. This past year, I reactivated it and they have provided me with a new air conditioner this year. They have also sent out a plumber for me twice. The last time, the plumber came because I had a slow leak underneath my sink that I was unaware of. That leak has destroyed a quarter of my living room wood floor, all of my kitchen floor and kitchen counter.

    I like American Home Shield because you know that you're getting qualified technicians. I also find the service better now than when I had it. The response time is good and so are the technicians. This last one, I had to pay out of pocket for something that wasn't covered. But the plumber was excellent. I would recommend American Home Shield to my friends and relatives. The plan is affordable for me and so is the service fee. I've had six technicians come out and I'm pleased with the service. My house is more than 37 years old and I have things in it that’s breaking. I feel better especially now that I'm retired and on a fixed income because I have the home warranty.

    The turntable in my microwave only worked when it wanted to. Also, sometimes, the microwave would work fine but it started very frequently giving me an E11 error and would stop and sometimes, it would take atrociously long to heat things. I requested a service from AHS through the dashboard online and it was very easy. They told me it was Sears coming out and gave me their phone number.

    The tech who came out was really nice. He had this tool that he put in the microwave and he showed how it worked and explained everything to me. He was very thorough with everything. He said that with all the issues, without any information on the microwave, he couldn't order parts or anything to fix it. He said the only real option would be to replace it. I contacted AHS and we immediately got a notification letting us know that they recommended a replacement. We had to call the appliance purchasing center to discuss it and then we got a Lowe's gift card and we purchased a new one.

    I'm pleased with American Home Shield. My AC has been out for about two weeks now in one of my rental properties. I had somebody check it out for me as well, and they found out it had power. So, when the American Home Shield electrician came out today, he said, "There was power, but the compressor is bad. And that's what was kicking the breaker on the AC unit." He wrote his report that I do have power, and the compressor's gone out. In the meantime, I went on and got a unit put in. I'm in Texas, and it's been over 100 for almost 40 days now. What I would like to do as a resolution is whatever they were gonna pay for that compressor, I would like to be reimbursed for it.

    When the AC guy came out last week, he should have known that the compressor was out when he came out versus saying the breaker was just bad and turned around and left. He should have known that when he came out the first time. That delayed it even more because he came out on the 25th, and today is August the 3rd. By the time the correspondents get back to AHS and they dispatch another AC person out, it would have been this weekend or next week. When he came out and that breaker was tripping, he should have disconnected it and then cut it to see if it had power.

    He could have run a test on the compressor and would have known the compressor was out. He left and didn't do that, and that's causing American Home Shield more money because they already had sent an electrician out. If he had gone on and determined that while he was there, the electrician wouldn't even have to come out. As far as American Home Shield, they are just going by what information they receive. Maybe if they had received some different information, they would have acted differently. So far, AHS had taken care of me.

    American Home Shield is great up until you have a claim. I've been dealing with them all day and I’m kinda frustrated about it. I came back from a long trip and the AC wasn't working. The contractor came out on a Friday and fixed it. It worked all weekend. Then they came back and said, “Well, we needed to fix it with the permanent part, not the temporary part.” I told them that everything was working fine. They said, “Yeah. But that's short term. We want long term.” So they went back in and replaced it Monday. But it quit working.

    I had to do a recall with American Home Shield. The contractor came back out and said that the compressor was shot and that they needed $1,385 to replace the compressor in a 26-year-old system. American Home Shield said that I could do that or they would give me $920 cash-out and I could get my own person. I asked them, “Well, what part are you paying?” They said they couldn't disclose it. It didn't make sense to me. They won't do the replacement. I told them that their advertisement said, “If it breaks down, we will replace it.” That was what they sold me on and that's why I'm paying that monthly fee of $67 a month.

    When I called their contractor back and asked, “Well, what are you replacing it with?” I wanted to find out if it’s a Bryant or something else. They said that American Home Shield was not covering that and that they were just covering the compressor only. They said most of the 1,385 is for the Freon because American Home Shield is going to be paying $10 per pound of the Freon. But it costs $225 a pound. So off the bat, it’s almost $1,000 just in Freon and then they're gonna put a new compressor in a 26-year-old system. It doesn't make sense to me.

    I had somebody come out for a second opinion. I paid them to make sure I'm not getting ripped off here. The tech came out and said it was shot. He said, “Well, I’d put a Bryant in it. But you have a 26-year-old unit. You have to replace it all.” He said it was $3,000, which I thought was reasonable because he was doing the downstairs and the furnace coils.

    The washer would spin the water out and the dryer wasn't drying. I told American Home Shield what was going on with my appliances and they set it up for Tate Appliance company to come out. The first time that the tech came out, the dryer was good, but the washer still had an issue after a couple of days. I called Home Shield back again, and then they sent them back out and he corrected it. So it's still working now.

    I love American Home Shield. I called them two months ago because we had a gas leak and they got right on. They got somebody out to us within the 24 hours. They looked at what needed to be done and came back and fixed it. When the gas company came out to check, there was still a small leak. I called the people who American Home Shield sent out, and they came right back and fixed the problem. Recently, we had to call American Home Shield because our AC went out. We called them at 2:00 in the evening, and somebody was out Thursday and fixed the problem.

    I like AHS's service. The response is pretty fast and the technicians seem to be very experienced because they make quick fixes. I recently had an AC claim because it wasn't blowing any air at all. Same Day Air Repair came out in four days and it turned out there were two capacitors that were burned out.     Our central air conditioner wouldn't cool. AHS didn't have an app for the phone, so I had to get on the website. It was easy to get on it, but once you submitted your claim, it was like it went into a big black tunnel. There was very little to no communication. For instance, the website didn't give me a status if the claim was opened or assigned or pending review. At first it said it was open, then it said it was assigned to a vendor, and it was closed the next day.

    So I had to call and I got somebody who couldn't speak English. I had a really hard time understanding an accent and when I was telling them that the website said my claim was closed, they said it wasn't. When we got that straightened out, they sent in a text message and an email that said my claim was assigned to Foxcroft and that if I didn't hear from them within 24 hours, I should call them. So when I didn't hear from them, I had to call and left a message. But I didn't hear back from them for 24 hours. I called them again, left another message, and they finally called back. They said they were not going to be able to get here for these many days and they were difficult from the get-go. So it was just a back and forth until I got their tech here.

    Their guy said I was out of Freon and that he was going to turn the thing back in but AHS wouldn't get back with me. He said that if he turned it in that day, it was going to be four months before the whole thing got resolved. We asked him about the Home Shield company and he was telling us that if it was him, he wouldn't pay for the service. He gave us a really bad vibe. This Foxcroft company also went to my mom's house and they told her the same thing. So, we thought that AHS was a scam and I called them to cancel. But they bounced me right over to the retention group. The lady asked what could she do to keep me as a customer and again I was talking to somebody who had poor English so it was difficult for me.

    She told me that she would send someone else out here for a second opinion. But I told her that those people were not coming back to my house because I didn't trust them and I was not paying a $125 call out fee. I already paid that and after that Foxcroft company went to the home warranty people, they came back and said the issues were preexisting conditions. So, I asked the retention lady to explain to me what part of any claim was not going to be a preexisting condition. My house is 20 years old, so if I submit a claim that my refrigerator that doesn't work, they're going to send a contractor out here and every single time he's going to say it's a preexisting condition because it's old. I haggled with them and she admitted that if an appliance is old, the issue is preexisting. So asked her what was the point of me continuing to keep my plan with American Home Shield.

    She then told me that they could send someone out and they wouldn't charge me the $125 unless that contractor said the same thing. At that point, I was already $500 in with AHS but I decided to go with that. She also told told me that she had had so many customer calls about Foxcroft and that they were no longer an approved contractor with Home Shield. But within 15 minutes of hanging up with her, I got back online to see if she had created my ticket to send somebody else out and she did. But it still went to Foxcroft. I had to call again, got a different person, and told him that I did not want those people in my house. I also told him that the lady I talked to before said they were a non-approved vendor anymore but he said that was not true. So she lied to me.

    Then, my claim was assigned to a new contractor by the name of Frog Pro. They got back with me within 24 hours and were at my house within two days. They told me it wasn't a preexisting condition, that the evaporator coil there had a leak which was why it lost all of the Freon. They said they were going to go back to the Home Shield people and tell them what they found. They told me that it could either be fixed or it could be replaced because of its age. These people took care of me. They also went right over to my mom's house, who was 80 and is a little bit disabled, and they took care of her, too. They explained it all to her and they were wonderful. After that, American Home Shield confirmed that we could have our units repaired for this much or they'd replace them for this much. We decided which way we were going to go and got Frog Pro on the phone with us. They are going to be at our house tomorrow and my mom's on Monday.

    American Home Shield sent Ace Appliance for a refrigerator. It turned out that there was a broken gasket in the compressor line. The technician came out, diagnosed the problem pretty quickly and repaired it in about 30 minutes. He added some Freon as well since some of it had leaked out. We hadn't had any issues since.

    I called over the phone when I did the claim. I didn't have any issue with scheduling. They were pretty prompt. I spoke with somebody right away. Also, they had a pretty quick turnaround time. From the time I called them, they scheduled somebody the following week and they got somebody here on the day they said they were going to.

    The issue for the plumbing was great. But for 10 days now, I've been trying to resolve the issue of the hole they put in my kitchen wall. And the contractor that American Home Shield assigned is out of business. Their number has been disconnected. So, I've been working on this since the 27th of July to try to get this fixed. So, I called them back again today, and they said that it would to another department and they would get back with me. But they fixed the plumbing right away and did a good job.     We like American Home Shield. It has always been people that we like that come out. They're always helpful. They thought the garage door was fixed. So, even though we have to go to the company now, AHS told me to reach back out to them. The same company is coming out free of service next week, because the garage door is still acting up. It's a good company. I like them a lot. They've made it easy. And they said, “We'll be back out next Monday.” So, I've been happy with the service.

    The only part that sometimes is frustrating is when it’s something not covered. We had our garage door worked on last week. Apparently, because you don't always know what the issue is gonna be, you pay your $100 copay but didn't see that didn't even apply to what was wrong with the garage door. But that doesn’t happen every time. But now, we're dealing with an air issue. So, if it's not working better, I may call. Some stuff, if it’s an appliance, it's not an issue. But if it's a bigger thing, and if the air doesn't start cooling the house, I will have to read up on the fine print so I know what AHS covers.

    I read the contract and it said as far as garage doors go, it ends up being not very much. Because the thing that goes up above is not as expensive as a garage door. A way to figure out more easily what exactly are they gonna be able to help me with. Because when I call to have something looked at, I have no idea what's wrong with it. We may have an idea. But I could have called someone local who worked on garage doors and probably saved some money. When you're online and you click garage door, since I'm already logged in under me, maybe having it come up then what they cover. It’s like a reminder. And a bit more in terms where it's easier to understand.

    Drain Doctor was here for the garbage disposal today. The garbage disposal wasn't working. It wasn't getting electricity. It took them two minutes to figure it out. The tech had to play around with a reset switch. He was here for about five minutes and had to keep playing around with the circuits and the reset button to get it right. Then finally, it worked. Everything’s been fine. But I’m not too wild about the initial fee that I gotta pay. A couple of years ago, we were paying $50 when we call in and they sent somebody out. But now, it's up to 125. That's gotta be a little rich. I don't like that.

    Our air conditioner was not running. It was shutting off and then starting back up again. I went to American Home Shield's website to make a claim and that was really easy to get around. It's a lot easier doing the website than it is by phone. A few minutes after I put my request in, I received a message that White Sands was going to be contacting me. As I was reading that message, White Sands called me.

    The technician was good and thorough. He showed my husband what he was doing wrong with putting the vinegar down the hose. He also showed what the problem was. The air conditioner was shutting off and then coming back on was due to the fact that the overflow was too high and water was overflowing and not running out right. He repaired that for us. Everything is operating beautifully now and we have air. Living in Florida, you have to have air. We've had American Home Shield forever. The biggest complaint I have is when you have to call and you get put on hold forever. That's the only downfall. Other than that, I gave people their number and I also told them to go ahead and contact the home warranty. They did their service great.

    I don’t like American Home Shield because they always try to patch stuff instead of just fixing it. I’ve had it for five years and every time something goes on my unit, they want a patch. This last time around, they wanted to repair a compressor instead of replacing it. It was gonna cost me $1,600 in Freon. I said, “Forget it. I'll just go ahead and buy a new unit.”

    The contractors that come out suck as well. They say they fix stuff. But when you call them back, it's not fixed. Like my garbage disposal. They fixed it twice. Replaced it. I didn't know what they were doing but it's still not working. It works for a little while, and the next thing I know, I gotta call them again. For the garage door, the guy came out and fixed it. Now I'm having a hard time trying to reprogram the garage door opener. I don't know what's going on with that.

    It takes a long time to get something done because I report the thing, and it takes a few days to get somebody out to look at it, and they have to order the parts. The tech had to go back and get it approved and order the part, and come back and install. The guy did a good job. I liked the guy that came here. He was nice to work with and did a good job. But it would take almost as long if I tried to fix something myself. I don't like when I call into their recorded line and talk to one of their representatives. They're obviously from somewhere outside of the country and very difficult to understand. Also, once it was a sump pump that I got a bad service on. American Home Shield sent terrible plumbers out. But it got resolved. It was fast.

    The very first claim that we did was with our pool. The guy said that it wasn't covered, but it should be and American Home Shield ended up covering it. Recently, my air conditioner stopped blowing cold air, and we had a service assigned to us at first, but then that company couldn't come out quickly enough. We asked if we could move it and American Home Shield moved it to a different company, which was great. That company came out, and we thought the problem was fixed. I received a survey and gave them 5 stars, then later in the day, my air conditioner stopped working again.

    We had to call them back, and they couldn't come back out for a few days. That was a bummer because we were out of air conditioning for five days in Las Vegas in the middle of summer, but that wasn't really to do with American Home Shield. It was more with the company. A few weeks prior, we had the same problem with one other air conditioner, because we have two units, and that went perfect. The people came out, fixed it, left, and everything was good. Some stuff, I understand, is not as urgent as others, but sometimes, it seems like it takes a long time to get people out. I realize the vendors that American Home Shield assigns have other customers, but for an air conditioning issue, you gotta fix that right away, especially if it's in the middle of summer.

    With AHS, I have the assurance that I can make a phone call and get some of the service repairs that I need done to my house. And those are done, most of the time, in a timely manner. The only time it wasn't was when I had my air conditioner go out and it took so long for me to get good service. It took over a week just to get a service call and get anything updated for me to get a company to come. But other than that, the service has been great. I recently had a claim for an appliance issue and the tech who came out was really good. American Home Shield's customer service reps have been very good, too. The last time I called them was when the air conditioner person did not come and I ended up getting someone to assist me.     Precision came out to repair an air conditioner. It was cycling on and off. They told me Daniel was coming out. He was phenomenal. This was the second time I used my home warranty for the same issue, and the first time, the AC guy came out and told me nothing was wrong with my air conditioner.     All South AC Heating and Refrigeration finally put the system on on Wednesday. They couldn't bring the new equipment. They had to take the door to the attic down and bring it back. They couldn’t put back onto one side of the trimming but they came back and put it back. They did a great job. But I'm disappointed with American Home Shield. There was another time that air conditioner was broken again. I had to pay close $500 for the freon.

    They had to replace the water tank and I had to pay $500 on it as well. They said that I needed to meet the state code. I don't know if I want to keep American Home Shield any longer. I've had it going over 17 years. They have come three times, twice for the air conditioning unit. They couldn’t figure out what was wrong with the air. It was blowing but not cooling. They said they couldn't fix anything they couldn't see. That was why I called for a recall from American Home Shield and they brought All South AC Heating and Refrigeration. The heat was hitting over 100 degrees a day. This been running probably early June and I just got it fixed this week. That's a long time in between. I wouldn't recommend American Home Shield because it took me three months in the heat. I was disappointed. I could have saved enough money to replace my thing without having to call them and without having to wait for so long. You're gonna die waiting for them to come and fix an issue.

    It was efficient as far as getting my order placed, but it's all automated, which some people prefer that more than others. But it took close to two weeks before I was able to get a technician out here. We were fortunate in the sense that the air conditioner was still functioning, but there was a clog in the water drainage hose that was not right and caused some small issues. But if the air conditioner broke, we would have been sitting for almost two weeks with no air. American Home Shield was four days later than normal than what was normally scheduled was because they had some technician shortage. But once the guy came out, he was very good.

    I received a text message yesterday from AHS saying that they tried to run my debit card for this month's payment and that it wouldn't go through because my card on file was no longer good. So, once a year, it seems like the debit card has to be replaced. That's the problem they ran into for renewing. I called them last night and I was on hold for 40 minutes but nobody ever answered. It's hard to get ahold of a live person when you call AHS.

    I had a washing machine last year. Before that, I had the stovetop. It was leaking gas and I had to pay for some of it, but American Home Shield paid for the top. It was corroded. They had to put in copper. I did the ice maker once, but I decided not to do that again because it didn't hold up. The roof was replaced. Recently, I didn't have hot water. The tech came in, checked the pilot, and that wasn't it. But he cleaned out some kind of burner assembly. And if that didn't work, they would have to replace the whole thing, because I can't see through it. He did it quickly. Tried lighting it, but it didn't hold, and he had to come back. He came back within two days, so I was glad. I should have asked for something closer. I had to wait four or five days for hot water, and they came on a Tuesday, and came back on Thursday. So, I appreciated that. So far, it has been holding up. Maybe it just needed cleaning. That was good. Everything got handled.

    I like American Home Shield's service. I like that AHS addresses my problems. Also, they sent out some good people. The first time, I called about my washer and dryer. I didn't know they didn't do both at the same time, but they took both requests at the same time. I didn't like the fact that they did all that work and found out it wasn't good because they spent some money on my washing machine. So I got all these new parts here, and the tech had to trash the washing machine because he said he couldn’t do anything with it. I thought maybe he would check the whole thing out, or he could have before ordering all of that.

    Other than that, the first company was good. They came, put the little piece in my dryer. Dryer working good. I ended up getting a new washing machine. I already got the machine and I sent them a copy of the bill. They're not gonna give it all back to me. But they're supposed to give me so much back to cover what I paid. That's what I'm waiting on.

    The recent electrical claim was supposed to have been toward the ceiling fan. It wasn't working. The contractor came out and the tech said the motor was gone in it. So, they ended up putting another motor in it and another cap over it, but it was smaller than the one that was up there. At one point, he told me that someone would come out and patch it up. But I just bought one that fit.

    I was satisfied only because when they first came out, they tried to do more than one thing. I also had a kitchen light issue. They asked about it. And I told them I didn't call about that. But if it was something they could do about it, fine. He caught himself somewhat fixing the light, but he told me the light was gone. He told me the motor was gone in the fans, and he ordered another motor. But he had to close the case first. Something he said he had to do and wait for American Home Shield to get back with him before he could address the ceiling fan and the motor. They got back with me and came back out. The guy gave the indication if I wanted to have both done, he would do it for me. But one of them I would have to pay for. But I'm all set now.

    Hero’s Plumbing did do a really good job with the garbage disposal. The gentleman who was the service guy was great. It was a very good experience. We've had American Home Shield policies before as a family. My husband and I have had it. My mom had it. But she just bought a new home, so she has a new policy again.

    The issues that we had run into with American Home Shield is that, for instance, my husband and I had a plan, and then we had an active leak in our basement. It was a Friday and we couldn't get anybody through Home Shield to come out until the following Tuesday. We told them, “We have a active leak. We need somebody out here, like, in the next two hours.” That was just ridiculous. We ended up having to go with somebody and paying out of pocket. It wouldn't work to use Home Shield because of the time lapse. Another thing we ran into was that some of the local companies won't work with Home Shield because they have such a hard time getting paid. When you find a contractor you like and then find out that they don't work with Home Shield, it's a bummer.

    My refrigerator stopped working. The AHS rep I talked to was tremendous when I called. She agreed that there was no reason I need to wait two weeks. She said, “Let me look up what company got assigned.” She said “I'm reassigning you to a new company. You should hear from them shortly and they'll get you taken care of.”

    The greatest thing I've ever seen on Earth was the new company called me in the first 15 minutes and then asked me if 15 minutes from then was fast enough. I fell off my chair. In all my life, no repairman shows up 15 minutes after the call. The tech was great and was 100% perfect. He texted me and showed up. He said what he found. He said he would locate that part and he would text me again or call me. He said he believes he’d be back in a few days. He was Johnny-on-the-spot. He found out it was the timer. He came back with the part a few days later, replaced it, and it's worked ever since. The tech did a great job.

    The AC unit was turning on, but it wasn’t blowing anything out through the vents. I had a technician from another company already come over to diagnose the problem. So that way, whoever American Home Shield sent out, they would already have an idea of what was going on. American Home Shield sent Amazing Comfort and they found out that it wasn’t the blower motor, as the original company had said, but rather it was the squirrel cage bolt that came loose and fell down. So it was a quick fix. The tech took about 20 minutes. He was great. He was very punctual, and courteous. He gave me a heads-up call when he was about 10 minutes away from the house, which helped me out. I didn’t have to ask him to put on the booties before walking through the house, he just automatically did that. He was very professional, and efficient.

    I put in the claim to American Home Shield and initially, the company that they sent responded right away that day saying they would come out. But they never showed up. We waited a long time and we called the company back and they said that they were waiting on some parts to be ordered. But they never told us that. So, we waited another two weeks but we never heard from them. We kept calling them. We got ahold of American Home Shield and told them that the company was not answering our call. AHS got ahold of them and they said they would be out on Wednesday. Wednesday came and went and they didn't show so, we called American Home Shield back and they got ahold of the company again. They finally came out and replaced some parts that were not the parts that we needed. So, they did not fix the problem. We tried calling them back but couldn't get ahold of them.

    We talked to American Home Shield and they said that we would have to either have them come back out or pay another $100 to have a different repair person come out and that they would eventually reimburse us for the first one if they didn't fix it. It’s a frustrating policy that they have. The repair has been a long ongoing process. But we finally got Sears. They ordered parts and had them shipped directly to our house and we had to wait for all the parts to come in. So, that was another two weeks. The initial order that we put in to fix our stove was probably the end of May and we just got it fixed last week.

    I had a situation with a plumber who came out when there was a TOTO toilet to fix and they did it immediately. They did it well, too. But they had it as a closed out deal and yet, it was not. They did not put it in the record that they still had to to give me a kitchen faucet and a bathroom faucet, and install them. And it had been since the beginning of April that the plumber had not turned the report in. Every time I called or texted them, they'd say they'd look into that. But they didn't take my calls or respond to anything. I called American Home Shield at least 15 to 20 times and they kept telling me that they'd expedite it and send it to the contractor division. Also, when I couldn't find the number for the retention department, I couldn't get anyone to give it to me when I called in. I told them to have them call me and there was no call. I had to go buy my faucets myself and hire my own plumber to go out and do it.

    Aside from that, I bought a policy for the garage doors and paid a lot for it. I filed a claim when the garage doors were not opening because the radio waves that they open up on were opening when they weren’t supposed to open. The contractor said they were picking up somebody else's and that that was not covered. But the problem was with the motors and they are covered. I kept calling AHS and it went nowhere. I had tenants moving in so I gave up and I paid $1,000 for three new motors for my garage.

    Besides that, there has been a lot of other things that have been excellent with AHS and I've been exceptionally happy with them. If they couldn't fix something, they were going to replace it. In fact, they've replaced air conditioning units and refrigerators. I also had an appliance issue where Simon Appliance came out and did a great job. All in all, American Home Shield has been better for the last four months. They've been more responsive and I appreciate that. They've been very polite as well and I feel like they stepped it up.

    I recently had an AC claim to American Home Shield, and the process was fast. The only thing is AHS is somewhat a little expensive. On every request, you gotta pay a fee. Also, if you request a service, they should give you more months of warranty. They only give you one month. One day, I had to pay like double the service because they gave me one month of warranty. If something breaks around one month and a half, I had to pay another 125.

    There was a leak and it was dripping from the top floor to the lower floor. It took the plumber about two days to come out but he was great. He went in there, diagnosed the problem and recommended the solution. However, American Home Shield's coverages have declined from when we first started using them to what they are now. A lot of the coverage goes up to a certain point, then we're stuck with paying the rest of the repair. On the plumbing coverage, if a pipe bursts, that's supposed to be covered. But the plumber said, "You have an old pipe, so we got to do all this extra repair." American Home Shield covered just the replacement cost of the piece of pipe and labor. But the additional work was out of pocket and that usually runs a couple hundred.

    We've also had that happen with an air conditioning unit. One air conditioner was over 3,000 and another one was over 5,000 where we just had to replace the whole system because their coverage says they'll repair the AC, but in reality, they don't. They'll just go up to a certain point. It's one those fine print details but that's not specified upfront.

    Some rats chew through my AC wire on the outside of the house but they did it in such a fashion that it really destroyed all the wires and the AC wouldn't turn back on again. So I called American Home Shield and paid the 75 bucks. I know that they take a little bit of time to reach out to the techs, so a minute later, I gave the contractor, Crispy Air, a call and told them the ticket number through American Home Shield. Then they started the process and a couple of days later, the tech came out first thing in the morning. Two hours later, he rewired it all and the AC was back up.

    I've also called AHS before and it seemed like there are a lot of exclusions. For example, with this AC claim, I had to pay out of pocket since AHS wouldn't cover it. It’s considered force majeure. Then the last time I needed techs to come out, it took two weeks before they came and did some inspection. After that, I needed to have a float switch changed, and it was considered maintenance. So I've called three times and only one time did AHS cover anything.
