    I had a refrigeration problem and the first contractor didn't work out. The tech would always say it couldn’t be done and the insurance does not cover. But I called American Home Shield and they said they would send another contractor. That second contractor did a good job. They were able to fix the issue for me. Still, AHS should rate their vendors and send the right one at first. But I was given a refund for the fee. When the first contractor showed up, the charge was $100. But because the guy didn’t do any work, when I called AHS, I got a refund right away.

    When our hot water heater was leaking, we paid the $75 fee for somebody to come out and look at it. American Home Shield sent out a contractor they work with. The gentleman did a great job. He was able to get it repaired for us. So it was a good experience. But I did find it tedious that I needed to take my phone and film the problem and then have the interaction recorded for the agent to be able to relay it to the contractor. I haven't done that before, so that was a little challenging. I would have rather just been able to call and say, “Hey, I have a problem. Send the contractor. Have them look at it.” But other than that, it was fine.

    There was leakage in the main bedroom and the hot water heater is in a particular closet in that main bedroom. So when the techs came out, they said there was some pan that was full. And they had to drain the water to stop the leak. They ended up having to turn the AC off to prevent the leakage in the bedroom because there had been four leaks. And while they were out there, the plumber mentioned something about the hot water heater. I then called back and got another claim for them to come back out and look at that. It was going to take over a week for them to come back but my brother-in-law called to see if they could speed it up because my sister was due to deliver any day, it was hot in the house, and it was uncomfortable. So they came out the very next day. They were on time and did everything they needed to do.

    The fee keeps going up every month. We started at about 65 bucks. Now, we're up to 80 something. But the reps are fast. They work on the issue and I get results in a couple of days. We had to get our refrigerator replaced. It wasn't even a good two years old, but it needed to be replaced, and American Home Shield replaced it. The first contractor that came out worked all day. He was determined to get it to work again, but he said he couldn't do anything with it. So, the second one came out and said it was unrepairable.

    I was highly dissatisfied with American Home Shield. Whenever I would put in a request for a work order, 9 out of 10 times, they would tell me that the item is not covered. It's not like I call every month. I was wasting money so I canceled it. It wasn't serving a purpose for me to continue working. I had issues in the past with the ceiling fan, my light fixture outside, the doorbell and the lights over my sink and outlets. They just said it wasn't covered under the contract and I was paying close to $100 a month. So, I'll just pay out of pocket. AHS should cover what they say they're going to cover because the contract makes it appear as if it weren't covered. Also, the people that they have contracted, some were good but then some would put you off forever. And you need the person to come on and fix it if you have something broken down, not wait a week or two.

    Our clothes dryer wouldn't come on, and the day after I submitted the claim online, someone came out and diagnosed the problem. The part was ordered, and it was in within a couple of days. The repair people came back, repaired our clothes dryer, and everything was fine. This is only the second service I've had with American Home Shield, but so far, both services have been satisfactory, and the timeframe, and how it was handled. One part is not satisfactory though. AHS keeps going up on the price too much. The second year I had them, the price took a huge jump from I paid originally. I called them and got no satisfaction. This year, it has gone up twice, and they didn't notify me. Not one time have they ever sent me an email or called. It just showed up on my credit card, and that's a big downside.

    The air conditioning system went down, submitted a request on the AHS website. Initially, they referred another company, but that company had some pretty horrible reviews online. I had already used Eagles once through American Home Shield. I knew that they were good, so I just called to ask them if they could change the vendor to Eagles. The owner of the company was great. Answered his phone right away and made a plan to come out the next morning.

    AHS has got to stop recommending vendors that have bad reviews. They needed to do a better job picking their vendors. The second thing is, we just got a price increase. Got a letter. Maybe there could be better communication around that. There's a lot of fine print and a lot of stuff that's not covered that you would think would be covered. Maybe they could clean that up a little bit and not make it so strict sometimes.

    So far, I'm very satisfied with American Home Shield. I am just having trouble with one of the service requests I made. I have a service request open on July the 5th and after about two weeks, a technician came to my place. He saw the problem that was related to my ceiling fans. He told me that he will provide feedback on that to fix that issue. Later on, he never responded back. I, again, called American Home Shield. They rescheduled. Somebody came again and after that, no feedback was provided. I contacted American Home Shield. They asked for feedback from the technician. Yesterday, I learned that American Home Shield did not even receive the feedback. Then they opened an expedited service request. A customer representative from AHS told me that I should expect something by Wednesday. Other than that, I am always getting good feedback.

    I've been calling American Home Shield about a whole bunch of stuff. My issue is I can't always understand customer service and they don't understand the way we speak and the comments that we make. They're so regimented to just keep going and it has to do with being from another place. When I did a claim, I got a text that said who would be the contractor. Bestway repaired my tub that was backing up and two of my sinks that were leaking around the faucet. In this instance, I didn't have to call them. Instead, they actually called me to schedule an appointment. Sometimes you would have to call these people and they act like they don't know they got the notice and I would just be mad.

    The one that came out for the service was interesting in the fact that he was not your typical guy. He was very nice and respectful. I showed him what I was having an issue with and he was able to rectify it. I liked that he took the time to explain to me what was going on and why. My sisters, cousins, and females usually stay in the room with the tub and they always use the bathroom there. Hair clogged up the tub. The tech did as much as he could and the tub is working fine now. I was really excited about it. The tub is wonderful and I'm no longer embarrassed.

    I've been with American Home Shield for years. I had gone to one other company but they lied and didn't do replacements. When I came back to American Home Shield, it was $43 and after a year, they went up to $53. My problem is not that they went up but that they didn't tell me anything. Recently, I had to act like a fool because they went up to $70 and nobody said anything. What American Home Shield does not understand is that I put enough for my bills in my account. Everything is zero until I get ready to pay bills again and I move money around. When I called the American Home Shield, the lady I spoke with told me they were doing the increase because they have to account for everything going up.

    On the whole, I'm satisfied with my results and I love what I receive from American Home Shield. I've been with them since 2000 and they've replaced the HVAC, bought me a brand-new refrigerator, and done the AC. There were some things that I needed the warranty for like the plumbing and this and that. It really helps and it's worth it. What I always do to make myself feel good is when technicians come by the house, I ask myself, "If I have to pay the contractor directly, what would this have been?" I'm actually getting value for my money.

    American Home Shield is very good. Just make sure you stay on them as far as watching when they get ready to charge you after your year. The only thing I'm not satisfied with is the folks not understanding the concept of me putting enough money on my account and the fact that American Home Shield is drafting me. Other than that, I am a big proponent of telling people to get American Home Shield because I don't want to be bothered to fix things.

    The air conditioning system in our old home had two separate units that covered the home and both of them had to be replaced. I was very pleased with how the replacement was handled. In one instance, the evaporator coil needed to be replaced but it was sitting on top of a furnace that was the same age as that unit and I elected to replace the whole system and take an in-lieu payment for just the evaporator and was very pleased with the way it worked out. I've always been satisfied that I was treated fairly and given fair compensation.

    I've had my American Home Shield for 20 years and I love them. It's reasonably priced and very dependable. When I file a request for a service, it's timely and efficient, and has been for 20 years. We bought a house in Clinton about 2001 that had the AHS warranty on it for the first year and we kept it ever since. We sold that house and moved to Brandon and selected them to cover the new home we're living in. I have purchased another home that I am renting to my son. I will call AHS and speak to them about covering the other home because I am very pleased with them. All I've received from them is very good service.

    My problem starts with my central AC unit becoming inoperable. The unit was displaying an error code indicating a blower motor fault. I contacted AHS, they collected my $100 fee, a technician came out and confirmed the problem as a defective blower motor. He leaves and nothing happens until I log into their website and notice AHS has CLOSED OUT THE REPAIR! After spending hours trying to reach them, they made up an excuse for believing the repair had been done. I asked the overseas agent why the order was closed out and they indicated they wished to do business with a different vendor, however, no new item was opened.

    I am 70 and in frail health and this house is now uncomfortable to be in. I beg the agent for an expedited process and she admits AHS cannot find another authorized contractor. She give me a list of authorized contractors; none were doing business with AHS at the time. She admits AHS felt the repair from the initial contractor was too expensive (this blower motor alone is about $1200 because I looked it up online). The agent contacts the original contractor, they hang up with the agent and call me directly on another line while I am talking to the agent. I put the contractor and agent on a speaker and the contractor tells me they were ready to perform the repair in a timely manner but were removed. They said they will not be doing business with AHS anymore and wished me luck with the AHS process (all within earshot of the AHS agent).

    This is making for a very stressful situation, so I plead with the agent to allow me to contact my normal HVAC company. After some days (during which I was never contacted), I call back and am issued an approval to hire an outside contractor, which comes with several stipulations. Mostly, they have to contact AHS and I have to pay for the repair out-of-pocket. The requirements are forwarded to the contractor who completes the work satisfactorily. I then submit the paperwork through their channels and wait for my check. Nothing happens. I contact the approval company to find the contractor didn't call until 2 weeks after the repair. The contractor claimed they couldn't reach the number given until later (there are lengthy wait times).

    AHS is refusing to pay using the excuse the contractor didn't contact them in time. I have been on the phone with overseas agents supervisors (clearly reading from a script) and they are unmoved. The fact I had to take over all of the responsibility for the repair from AHS meant nothing to them and they refuse to refund $2136 of money they told me to pay out. Please do not be lulled into a false sense of security off of their slick advertising!

    Sometimes, you don't have the money to fix something that's broken but you could call American Home Shield and you don't have to pay all that money upfront. Recently, a contractor ended up replacing the parts that they needed and the unit is working okay now. I would recommend American Home Shield ‘cause when I call, they follow up on the call.

    The first guy before Sears came out to look at my washer because it was shaking real bad. This is a brand new house. He put in a report that the floor was weak and that the washer was unleveled. That guy didn't do anything and left. He was awful. That was Sanders Repair. We called back and complained because that guy didn't fix anything. We had Sears come out. We spoke to another one of the reps at American Home Shield, and the reps told us if the claim was different than what Sanders Repair sent, then I wouldn't have to pay additional because I had paid for that man to come out here.

    The Sears guy came in and did something in the stabilizer in the washing machine. He said my floor was right. They took the front part off. It was the weight inside the washing machine. He said sometimes that'd be worn out. Sometimes it'll be off track so you have to line it back up. He looked at the weight, looked at all the stuff, adjusted the weight again, and put it back together. The washing machine has been running decently ever since. But the washer is still leaking a little water in the front so there might have been the piece that he's supposed to been ordering. He said he was going to make his notes and send me a copy of the invoice, but I never did got it.

    Sears was great. I'd recommend every time American Home Shield is gonna send somebody out, to send somebody like the repairman from Sears. I'd also recommend American Home Shield because overall, I haven't had any mishaps from them. Sometimes it was a problem getting the techs out here whenever they did. But most of my stuff, they've been able to fix it for me.

    I enjoyed the guy that came. He was very cordial. The problem was that ice stopped. He took things apart. He defrosted it with a steam cleaner and eradicated the problem. It was worth $100. American Home Shield didn't have to pay any parts like they did the previous fix. It seems we had refrigerator problems all of a sudden in the last two months. But they didn't cover the freezer unit and that upset me. It didn't make any sense at all. I told them I wasn't happy with the fact they didn’t cover the freezer because that cost us $450 to have it fixed. But for the refrigerator freezer, they covered both of them so we had those fixed. The one unit cost a little bit of money a couple of months ago because there were a lot of parts that had to be fixed on that one.

    Usually, it takes American Home Shield a week to have somebody come to the house. When the contractors come to the house, 9 times out of 10, they don't have the parts. They have to order them. Those usually take about two weeks to come in. The total turnaround, usually, to get something repaired is one month. If we went out of pocket and had it repaired, somebody could probably come within 48 hours and they could fix it, if not immediately, within a day.

    We've had American Home Shield for a long time. The main reason we've had it is for the AC unit. Once upon a time, we had to replace an air conditioner and that was $6,000 before we had American Home Shield. The last time we had the AC repaired, the contractor with American Home Shield had to replace a condenser which was a couple of hundred dollars. But they charged me an ungodly amount of money for freon. They don't recover the freon and won't use the freon I have. But in another case, American Home Shield replaced a dishwasher. We called them and they ended up repairing it once. That was $75. They came back, repaired a second time, and it needed replacing. American Home Shield was gonna give us a GE dishwasher. It's a $400 or less dishwasher. I opted to buy a better unit, a Maytag. It still cost me $500 on top of the credit American Home Shield gave me, which I found out from Lowe's that I could have gotten it for $100 less.

    American Home Shield has been good. It can defray large costs of repair and replacement. Recently, the heat pump and the furnace were not working properly. That started in December. The people who came out before Four Seasons Heating and Cooling worked on it off and on for six months but they could never get anything right. We froze all winter. In the past, there'd been a problem with the burners for the furnace. It would get rust in them and it plugged up the holes, so the burners didn't light properly. There are four burners in there, and if any one of them doesn't light, none of them will light. I tried to tell them and they've had to do this twice before. They take it out, clean it out, put it back in and it works. But nobody would do it.

    Finally, I got a guy and showed him a receipt from where I had it done a few years ago. I said, “This needs to be done.” We got the furnace back, but it's also a heat pump. With the heat pump, things were not working. He said, “I got everything running. I'm going to put you on the heat pump, no furnace. It's not that cold right now and that should work.” Our heat pump ran 24 hours a day, nonstop, for 17 days, and we couldn't get warm. I kept calling and telling them it was not giving us heat. We were running the fireplace eight hours a day trying to keep the house warm but it kept blowing cold air.

    They finally came out and told us what were wrong. They went through it and finally said, “We're done. We're not doing business with American Home Shield. We can't fix it.” American Home Shield sent out the Four Seasons guy. It took him about 10 minutes then told us the circuit board in the heat pump was burned out. I told him they replaced the one in the furnace. He ordered it. About five days later, he came back and popped it in.

    One of the other problems was the thermostat was not talking to anybody. They weren't communicating and it read the wrong temperature. Everything was screwed up. They put that in and this was during the heat spell. All of a sudden, we had air conditioning and everything was working fine. I told him it was not reading the outside temperature. He said it had to know when to be the furnace and when to be the heat pump. They had never even hooked up the outside sensor. It didn't take him very long to completely fix it. But everything was fine. We haven't had to use the furnace since then because of the time and the weather, but our air conditioning is working well and the heat pump comes on if it's too chilly in the morning. We're very happy with them.

    The problem was never with American Home Shield. The problem was with the initial contractor. They thought it was the board in the furnace that was burned out. The repairman said, “They'll be getting back to you in a couple of days. They'll have to order it.” After two weeks, I was calling but they were not calling me back. I got ahold of the direct line into the scheduler, but her mailbox was full and couldn't take any more. It took them about a month to replace that board. But when I called American Home Shield, I got through them. The three times I called and told them I couldn't get in touch with the contractor, within less than 24 hours, they suddenly decided to get in touch with me.

    American Home Shield gives an option of covering your appliances up to $6,500 and when you have a $9,000 range that you're gonna have to replace, it's nicer to have that bigger coverage. I've gone online and I see there's a service request button. But at the time I was trying to place the one for my dryer, there was no service request button. I was a little frustrated. But now it seems like that's been corrected.

    Their techs have all been good. I've been very impressed. I've had Appliance Wizard come out twice. The first time was for my exhaust fan in my house. It was determined that it was an exhaust fan that was discontinued and they could not find parts for it. So I needed a new one. It took me a while to find one that would fit 'cause we have a custom hood. Then the second time was recently when they assessed my dryer that went out. It was not working. They were great.

    American Home Shield has been very good. We had a line backed up in the wall and started leaking into the wall. We had the plumber out and got it taken care of. They had to come back. The leak was in the wall and was not easily accessible. The way the sinks were configured, he couldn't snake it through the sink. Since there was water leaking into the wall, we had to open up the wall and dry it out first. I had to have a remediation company come out and dry it out, then the plumber came back and cleared the drain. I've had several previous repairs with American Home Shield and they're good to work with. When things go wrong, you pay the $75 deductible then they cover the rest of it. Our washing machine that came with the house was bad and they replaced it with a brand-new one. They came out and worked on our air conditioning. They've come out and done the plumbing.

    The refrigerator stopped working so I called a technician. He came and was trying to fix it. It started working. Two days later, it happened again. It got defrosted. I had to throw out all the food from the freezer and the refrigerator. The water was all over in the kitchen and everywhere. I called for the technician again. When I came home, it started working. I didn’t want to bother, so I called and canceled the request. A couple of weeks later, it happened again. This time, when it started working again, I didn’t cancel.     Our AC wasn't cooling down inside the house. It was extremely hot and I didn't know if it was because it was 100 degrees outside every day, and maybe just the house was hot. But I noticed my electric bill was over $500, which was double the price what it was last year. So, I had the guys come out and check the AC. I got a call from their office introducing themselves and setting the appointment. The office called me and the appointment was a week and a half later, in between 12:00 and 4:00. Around 4:15, the office called me and said the guy's been held up at another place, taking a little bit longer. So he wouldn't be able to get there until about 6:00. So they called and gave me a heads-up.

    It turned out there was a leak in the outside compressor and it was technically repairable. But the part that needed to be repaired was on a year backorder. The tech said that the AC is still barely working so that's why it's 90 degrees in the house. But I could have a couple of weeks to a couple of months. During the process, it took so long to do anything. It took a week and a half for the techs to come out. After they came out, it took another week to get it approved through American Home Shield. Then, it took another week after the approval for them to come back out. So, two days before they were finally able to come back out and replace the AC unit, it completely went out. It was crazy hot for two days. It sucked. But the guy was awesome.

    I had AHS probably about five years ago. Then, when we purchased this house about two years ago, they offered for the one year. So, I ended up purchasing the two years up front and then I just renewed. I just re-upped another one. But the last time I had them, I used them three times on some plumbing issues. I liked the convenience of it.

    My air conditioner stopped working. The issue was that the drain pan in the main unit was clogged. It wasn't draining. So then the AC turns off. Submitting a claim was easy and I almost immediately got a phone call from Comfort First Heating and Cooling to schedule an appointment. I never had a problem with American Home Shield. I had a problem with Sears, which was the first vendor that they sent out. They came out initially and did the system.     We had had some moisture which damaged some drywall up around the ceiling and the walls and a corner. It was suspected that some of the condensate water from the air conditioning system was dripping off the ducts or running down and dropping off into the wall, causing the damage. Two technicians came out and the second one was able to resolve it. They found a couple of things that needed to be taken care of, and they did it.

    There's a drip pan underneath the unit to catch condensate and that was drained. That pan apparently was tilted. If there was any condensate building up, it was going to one corner and overflowing and it was running down from there. There was also a vent line that he thought needed to be extended a little bit higher. That was part of the trap assembly for the drain. The first fellow was a little larger, so he had a little more trouble climbing around the ductwork ‘cause it's very congested and extremely hot up there in the attic. He made a couple of thoughts about what it might be. Then he said, “I've got a fellow that's a lot smaller than me, and he'll go places where billy goats won't go. He’ll find it.” Moises showed up and they went right to work and cleaned up everything behind them. American Home Shield still has to follow up with me on the damaged drywall but other than that, they have done what I would have expected them to do.

    I called American Home Shield and normally, they can schedule a technician or whatever person. Last time, they did not take long to find me a professional that I needed for what I needed and for the time I needed it. There was a leak in my house and American Home Shield covered covered the part that needed to be replaced but they did not cover the plumber part, which was a bit weird because we pay a lot of money monthly for insurance. They did not go over the plumber part, like the excavation because I had a leak in the front of my house.     We had one issue with AHS and it really rubbed me the wrong way to the point I'm thinking about canceling it. They have been great for everything that we have. But with our air conditioner claim, they said we should have known about it and there was no way that we couldn't know. So, they denied the claim. I got on the phone with them. They said, “We will send out somebody else for a second look at it, and verify.” I told him I didn't want to pay another $100 deductible for somebody to come out and look at it. I was told it wouldn't be, and that they’d waive the charge. They sent somebody out. But then, I got a past due notice that I owe them $200 because they didn't properly mark down that they wouldn't charge me. So, I paid it.

    They still denied the second claim. They said I could submit a research report and have them go back in and pull the phone logs if I really wanted to. But they probably still weren't going to go ahead and waive that, because that should have been the terms of the contract, and I should have been smart enough to understand it. They were extremely rude at that point.

    Every single tech that we have come in contact with has been fantastic. When they denied our air conditioning claim, EMS out of Austin, Texas was the air conditioning company that they sent out. We liked the guy. He was straightforward, said it shouldn’t have been denied, that they were trying to get out of money and gave us a couple of workarounds that we could do. We ended up replacing the unit and they cut us a really good deal. So, we ended up going direct with their vendor. But we’ve had them fix a refrigerator, a washer dryer, a dishwasher, and the air conditioning unit. That one time with the air conditioner was the only issue we’ve had.

    The biggest issue that we had was we had a clog in our sewer line, so it was overflowing into the house, and they had no way to expedite it. We had to turn off the water because all drains, like running the water, were overflowing our toilet. We couldn’t run any water whatsoever. We had to secure the water. First, they gave me a couple of people—one was close and out of business, one didn’t take American Home Shield, and then another one was gone for the night. American Home Shield said they would expedite it, and then came to find out there was no such thing. What we ended up doing was calling an emergency plumber out. I asked American Home Shield if they would reimburse us and they would not. So, that was the one time it didn’t work. I really wanted to provide my feedback on the water experience, but they have no way to provide customer feedback.

    AHS is great for non-emergency stuff, the stuff that you can wait for a while. We had our AC go out over Labor Day weekend when we first got the house. Because of shipping and the holidays, we were out of AC for three weeks in the middle of summer. But American Home Shield saved us money on a new air conditioner. When it works, it’s great. But those times when it doesn’t, it makes you question why you were putting money into it in the first place.

    The bad thing about having a home warranty is if you've got an issue, you can't get anybody right then and there out at your home. Our air conditioner went out two days ago and I even went ahead and paid another $100 to get emergency repair. American Home Shield tried to give me a company we had before on something else. I told them, "We've had problems with them. I don't want them anymore. I couldn't even get ahold of them."

    I had to pay $650 out of pocket to cover the repair costs for the garage door opener. Including the deductible, it would have been 750. It was not covered by my AHS warranty. But other than that, my claims for the air conditioning and the washing machine earlier last year went well.     I've been with American Home Shield for 16 years. When I renewed this last year, number one, I did not receive my contract. I repeatedly asked for my new contract. Number two, they did not let me know that the fees for repairs would be going up. I would have known that if they had sent me the contract because on the contract, it will tell you that when you need a service, you have to pay the fee. I had a specific contract before, and they said that that contract was no longer available, and I would have to go into a different kind of contract. It's an annual contract that I renew, and I pay upfront for the entire year. Usually, they charge me on the day of when my new contract would start. They did not this time. They charged me right then and it was about a month before my contract was up.

    American Home Shield sent the contract to me online, and I printed it out. But I told them I wanted a hard copy in the mail. I've requested a hard copy in the mail every single year and I've never had a problem getting it. But this time, I seem to have problems in getting the contract, of them taking fees early, and them not telling me of the fees that you have to pay when you need a service. Not only that, you're paying a bigger warranty because the warranty goes up every year. You're paying X amount of dollars for the warranty, and you're paying a fee to get something done. Where is the savings?

    I want them to be upfront and tell me why they changed something and why can't I have the same contractors I've always had. When I bought my home, it came with a year of American Home Shield. I decided to keep the contract, and renew it every year. One year, there was something shady going on. I separated one year from them then I came back because I found that the other companies were worse. The service with American Home Shield has been great. It's nice to know that I have coverage if I need it. But it's also nice when they're transparent. I haven’t had problems with getting service but it would have been nice to know why fees and other things changed.

    The companies that I've been dealing with have always been wonderful about doing things and very quick to get the service completed. They have to put up with a lot of stuff, too, but they're always very gracious and wanting to help. I would use those contractors for further business if I needed something done. I recently had a plumbing issue and I explained the problem to American Home Shield. They sent someone out who fixed it. They were very knowledgeable and gave me good information for future issues.

    I've only had one issue with them over the years regarding a dishwasher. This dishwasher kept having issues. Their contractor would come out, and they would fix it. They were pouring money into it and I was wondering why they wouldn't replace it. They had replaced the motherboard in this dishwasher and if you had to purchase it, it would be three grand. They could buy a dishwasher for 600 bucks. Finally, the dishwasher decided it was going to die. American Home Shield had somebody come out. They had to process a claim for me to get a new dishwasher. That took two and a half months for them to decide they were gonna get me a dishwasher, that they weren’t gonna look for parts somewhere. They would allow me to pick out the dishwasher then I had to wait for that. I also had to wait for the repairman. That was ridiculous.

    We've had a couple of different claims with American Home Shield. The latest one was the dryer. It was making a noise and wasn’t drying right. Somebody came out and took care of it right away. When we call and make a claim, American Home Shield tries to schedule somebody to come out. We live far away on an island, so there isn't always someone who's handy. But it's never a big problem. They always schedule it. The person always shows up on time. They always make whatever correction they promised to make. There’ve been some minor hiccups, but they've always made good on it.

    The contractor came and fixed my faucet upstairs and my kitchen faucet, along with my garbage disposal. They did a wonderful job. They put the little booty on over their shoes and got the trash up. So far, American Home Shield's service is good. If you are not gonna save $75 every month going into a saving account that you're gonna have strictly for paying bills and getting this fixed, then you need to give it to American Home Shield. They’re worth your dollar.

    We had a stovetop that cracked. The workman came and looked at everything. He ordered the stovetop. It was covered and I kept getting messages from Sears asking whether or not the stovetop had been delivered. The only thing that I could access was something about the appointment and I wanted to reschedule another appointment. I tried to leave a message on American Home Shield's website that the stovetop had been delivered. On the day of the appointment, the repair guy's truck broke down, so they had to reschedule. But it was a bit of an inconvenience. It was another week.

    Again, Sears asked about whether or not the stovetop arrived and I tried to respond to them. I tried to get ahold of the repairman who had sent a text that he had broken down to see if I could let him know that the top had arrived. But his message box was full. The new day arrived and the man came and replaced it. A day later, another stovetop arrived. So, there I was with AHS' website trying to access somebody to let them know that we had another stovetop.

    Finally, I got a live chat and the guy was argumentative. He said, "Well, you ordered it." I said we didn't. And he said, "I'm sorry for the inconvenience, but you did order it." I said, "Why would we do that and how would I do that? I have no access to ordering and stuff." It took me a long time to finally reach a live person who was very nice and helpful. The live chat guy said, "Here's a phone number. Call this number." I asked who I was calling and he said, parts recovery.

    I went through the phone tree and they said, "Parts recovery is closed. If you need help, here's an email." And they rattled off an email so fast, I couldn't even understand it. So, I called back, tried to access other options on the phone tree, and it was ridiculous. They were all like, "We're away from our desk or we're temporarily closed." But I reached the live lady who helped me. So now, we're waiting for UPS to come by and pick up the stovetop. She placed a request for them to come by and pick up the stovetop. American Home Shield has been good, helpful, and responsive. Their co-pay is a little more expensive than the other company, but that's okay.

    American Home Shield selected a service contractor, and they asked that I email or call them, but I could never get through to that person. I tried for four days. I called the number and also emailed. No one ever got back to me. I called American Home Shield again and asked that they select another appliance person. The rep said she would try to contact that same service person. So she put me on hold and she called and they said they will come out the next day. I didn't want to work with that contractor anymore because I'd been reading some reviews and they got some very unfavorable ones. I asked her to send me another one. It was a week later and that person came and reported that the refrigerator couldn't be fixed and AHS needed to sign off so that I could get another refrigerator.

    I had to go through Lowe's with the voucher that American Home Shield gave me. I haven't bought a refrigerator, and when I looked on the refrigerators, I thought, "What refrigerator costs $8,000?" The selection Lowe's had with the price range I had and the limitation of the height that I needed determined what type of refrigerator I could really get, and I was surprised. I found a refrigerator, but I'm not satisfied with it. If had a bit more money, I would have selected another brand. I’m not working, so I couldn't afford to come up with another $1,000 to put with the $1,000 AHS gave me to select the refrigerator.

    I was without a refrigerator for a month and as an elderly person, I had to have someone help bring in ice every couple of days. At the end of five weeks, the problem was resolved and I've got a refrigerator. However, what I had to go through to get it after I paid my money has been an experience, and Lowe's was no better. They took their good time in getting one. I also asked that they change the way the door swung open from right to left. They were due to deliver two Saturdays ago and the gentleman called me half an hour before he was supposed to get here. He didn't have the refrigerator, then it took another week before they brought it. Now, I have the gentleman coming tomorrow to change the door so it opens the way that I requested it to open when I purchased the refrigerator. It's time for my yearly service contract renewal, and just today, the young lady called. We went over the price, but it's something else.

    The first person that came in was communicating by the language app and didn't know a little bit of English or Spanish. He took pictures of the dryer and its barcode. He was insisting for me to sign for him to start the procedure but I couldn’t communicate with him and at the end, I told him to leave because he was wasting my time. After that, I called AHS again. I told them that I needed somebody who speaks English or Spanish and they kept insisting on bringing that gentleman back again.

    After I insisted three times that I could not accept that, another gentleman from another company came out. He knew what he was doing and ordered the part. He told me that once the part got here, I should call him and he'd make an appointment. And sure enough, after a week, he came out again and took care of the problem. Everything was hunky-dory. He was the same gentleman that came and took care of my washer and if anything happens again, I will make sure that I will request that company.

    The refrigerator was not working. It had started to not cool. I called American Home Shield's number and talked with a customer service agent. The agent was nice, but he was difficult to understand because of his accent and he talked over me. I was trying to explain things and he seemed to be rushing the call. But it was fine. American Home Shield has a way to take over your phone by your permission and they can view the issue with you. You're able to take a smartphone, they send you a link, and they're able to look inside the appliance, in this case, the refrigerator. He wanted to see the silver information on the inside of the refrigerator. It had the model, serial number, etc. so I did do that.

    It was odd that two days later, I got a phone call from customer service saying, "We need for you to tell us the cubic capacity of the refrigerator." I asked the person, "You could have called Ashman Appliance, the same service people that came out and asked that question. You assigned this person to us to come and they came and assessed the situation. I can't answer this question because I'm at work." The other part of that situation that bothered me was that they had taken a screenshot via my phone when they asked me in the initial phone call. I said, "Why can't you use the information from the serial number, look that up, and find the cubic capacity of this refrigerator?" He said, "I didn't get a clear screenshot."

    It made me to have to take an hour when I got home from work to try to figure it out. I went online to check what the cubic capacity of my refrigerator was. It dawned on me to call Ashman Appliance. As soon as I called and talked to the gentleman who came and assessed the situation, he remembered me immediately. He recounted my address and told me my refrigerator has 22 cubic capacity. I called American Home Shield back and let them know. At that point, they were able to open up a portal and allow me, as the customer since 2005, to go in and select the new appliance from their portal. They've completed that part of the deal. They've done what they said they would do. They replaced my refrigerator with an updated, very similar but more modern refrigerator. I am, at this point, happy they have brought that in.

    I'm a customer, and all I want to do is go through American Home Shield's process and their channels. If they've got smart technology where they're able to take over my phone via a link and see something in my house, in my refrigerator, as well as take a screenshot, I shouldn't be called again and asked about this appliance. That was a major source of irritation, especially since they've sent someone who was an expert. They could have called him instead of calling me. They could have looked into the file.

    My air conditioner wasn't working. The techs checked it and said, "We're gonna tell AHS you need a new air conditioner". They ordered the new one on the 30th of June and it came on the 27th of July. When the techs put it in, I turned it on and it didn't work. So I called American Home Shield and they sent another technician. They pumped more Freon into the system, charged us for it and when we checked later in the day, it still wasn't working.

    When I got home from work, I called the contractor and told them it still wasn't working. Then I called American Home Shield and told them it still wasn't working and they had charged me for the Freon they put in in. American Home Shield said they would need to check on that. They didn't think that was right and they called me the next day and said, “We'll be sending a check to you. That should not have been charged to you.” So I was okay with that. They sent another technician yesterday. He hooked up and put more Freon into the system, and he says, “Oh, it's holding. It's good. You'll have no problems.”

    I ran the AC last night and it wasn't very hot. When I got home, it was 73 in the house. This morning, at 10:30am, the temperature in my hallway was 78. The thermometer that I have in the kitchen was 79.5. I turned the air conditioner on set at 69. At 3:32 this afternoon, I checked the hallway temperature and it’s still 78. The kitchen was at 79. I also have a little thermometer that I point at the air handler and right now, it's 78.8 coming out of that.

    I don't think it's working. But I know, if American Home Shield sends them again, they're gonna pump more Freon into the system. I think there’s a leak in the system and it needs to be checked. I also had a refrigerator go. It took 30 days to get that. The refrigerator is in and working fine. Up until these two claims I was extremely happy with American Home Shield.

    When I had my first service call, I didn't realize how much the service pay was and that I had to pay for someone to come out. The rep asked if she could charge $125 to the account we have on file and with it being my first service call, I was taken aback. They could explain that a little more in detail.     I've been very happy with American Home Shield and with everything that they've done for me. Most recently, though, Quality Service came out for the refrigerator and they don't know what's wrong with it. It took almost two months to get the part and then, they were here four hours fixing this big thing. It worked for less than 24 hours and then, it wasn't cooling. I called them and it was five days before they could get anybody out. They had me turn the machine off but I knew they were gonna have to see it running to see what it was doing so an hour before the tech got here, I turned it back on. He arrived and he was looking like, “What do you want me to do?” I told him it got up to 68 less than 24 hours after they fixed it and he said to call if it happens again. Less than 24 hours later, it's up to 68 again and I called. It’s gonna be next Wednesday before they can come out. But other than that, I've recommended AHS to all of my friends because they've been great for us. We’re building again now and I plan on using them again for our new build.

    American Home Shield outsources their customer service and I don’t know if it was a lag as far as communication, but I had an existing problem from last July that was just fixed this July. So, it was a whole year. I wasn’t happy. I was always over-promised and under-delivered. But this past issue that I had, they did give me the service that I was accustomed to prior to the last issue. My washers had flooded. So, a piece on a hole needed to be replaced. They also cleared the drains for my plumbing. So, all of those things were addressed and done in a timely manner. The issue that I had for a year was my oven. It didn’t work, and it finally was fixed on this go-round. So, I was without an oven for a year.

    AHS should improve on their communication and make sure that the escalation process that’s in place is followed. The escalation, for me, never came about. No resolution ever came about. So, I feel that there’s an area of opportunity, that if something needs to be addressed, someone needs to take responsibility or accountability for a problem and make sure that it’s handled appropriately. A year is too long.

    I had somebody arrive within 20 minutes of me requesting service with AHS for my AC. The tech that came out was great. He already installed one of my other ones and he was always the one that helped me. Easy to get ahold of and work with. However, last summer, my AC had to be replaced completely and it took four months before I got a new AC in. It was a very stressful situation because it was so hot. But part of that was not all on American Home Shield, but their follow-up and follow-through could have used some help. It wasn't very good for them to keep on track with all of this. I had to constantly call and try to figure things out. But aside from that, because of the situation our country is in, part of the problem lies in getting those parts and pieces from other countries and other places. And that part is understandable.

    I love American Home Shield's service so far though at one point, I thought about getting rid of it because nothing was breaking. But they’re very responsive. And so far, it's been very good as far as when I needed it. They have always been there. My home central AC unit went out and I've had it repaired three times. It finally had to get replaced. The hot water heater went out and it was repaired. While the plumber was there, I also had him fix a leaky faucet that I had. I haven't had any problems with any contractors through AHS. They've been doing very well. When I told my sister how the plan works, she signed up with AHS and I learned from her that she could make some repairs herself but keep the receipt and get reimbursed. I wasn't aware of that. I probably could have taken some of the stuff on myself.

    Xtreme Heating & Air Conditioning came out to replace my thermostat. But I've had back and forth with American Home Shield for this specific problem. Xtreme Heating & Air Conditioning got their service request on a Friday and they came out to see me the next Monday. Apparently, in my area, this is the only company that services my kind of air conditioner, which was why I had to go around and around to get the right person. But the repairman was great. He identified the problem, went and picked up the replacement part, came back and had it fixed within the same day.

    At one point, I was supposed to get a cash in lieu offer for the same problem. That never made it to me, and I could never get ahold of anybody that could tell me anything about it. I opened a new ticket thinking that would help, and that was what helped. I had to go back and forth because people weren't understanding that I needed a specific person, an authorized repair tech. There's a disincentive for these repair companies to work on systems that have special needs because they have a higher cost of repair, which looks bad on their numbers. If that can be addressed, my problem wouldn't have been as severe as it was. But every time I was able to get ahold of anybody at American Home Shield, they explained very clearly the parameters that they were working under. They've done everything that they have promised me they would do.

    The air conditioner was running hot and the tech let me know what he did and said we needed refrigerant. He did very good. The AC was cold for about a week but after that, it went away. So, I called American Home Shield and told them. They said it might got a leak in it. So, the tech is gonna come back today between 1:00 and 6:00 and check to see where the leak is coming from.

    I've seen some of the news reports with troubleshooter Diane Wilson, where people have had issues with American Home Shield in getting stuff fixed. But I've enjoyed having them and they're really good for the money. Their website is pretty user-friendly for making payments, submitting requests, getting feedback, and getting status updates. I submitted a claim and I originally thought my issue was with the water heater. AHS sent out a contractor and they were useless. They talked on the phone with the people who made the tankless water heater and they said it needed a couple of parts to replace in the water heater which would take six to eight weeks to get.

    So, they passed it back to American Home Shield to get a second opinion and that was when Proven Professionals came out. Their tech said there was nothing wrong with my tankless water heater and that the problem was the shower itself because everything else in the house had hot water but the shower. He was knowledgeable and professional. He explained things and let me watch if I wanted to learn how to do something to be handy around the house. He was changing the cartridge in the shower handle and I learned how to do that, but that apparently wasn't the issue because he replaced the cartridge twice and it didn't work. So, he's going to replace the old handle in the shower now, which will require him to cut a 20 x 20 hole behind the shower. Hopefully, that'll fix the problem and bring hot water back to the shower.

    I went online and submitted a request for the refrigerator wasn't cooling properly. I got information on who was coming as well as their phone number. A tech came out and he said it needed some Freon. He put some Freon in the refrigerator. The refrigerator started throwing codes again for the defrost system. The tech came back, looked at it again, and said that the compressor was bad. The guy told me, "What happens is when these new compressors go out, you replace it one day, it can go bad two days later, it can go bad two weeks later. It doesn't matter. They're just going to keep going bad." He put in the request for a new refrigerator. We just put a brand-new one in place.

    When Royal Flush A/C first came out, they discovered that the new unit that was put maybe two months ago was installed wrong. There was a leakage from the outside and I asked the tech if that was due to the installation being done improperly. He said yes and that I needed to reach out to Air Majesty, and I did. I was without air for almost a week. I was about to have surgery and I could not stand being in this hot house. So, I went round and round in circles with American Home Shield. When I called back, they said that Royal Flush was assigned the job and that I was paying for the coolant, which was $580. I asked why. It wasn't my fault that the installation was done improperly and it leaked all the Freon out. That put a big damper in my pocket because I had other bills to pay.

    Royal Flush A/C knew their job better than the young men that installed my unit. They were some young guys and since they were working in that field they knew what they were doing. When I called Air Majesty, the rep said that it's been two months and if I would’ve had problems, I would’ve had it right then and there. My son was telling me that Royal Flush said that I can get my money back from Air Majesty. When I brought it to their attention, the rep said they would send one of their technicians and if they did something wrong, they would cover everything. But they need a work order from American Home Shield.

    The plumber came and fixed my plumbing issue. But the guy that came to patch it didn’t want to do the patching. He said the plumber didn’t cut the right piece. He also didn’t remove the water damage. He wanted to charge me $26. I’m waiting for American Home Shield to assign someone out. I had a problem with my heater and that was a big expense. When we changed the boiler, it was not working. I had to pay $4,200 out of pocket. They said that the boiler is only covered for $1,500. They also changed the air conditioning system and I also had to pay $3,700 out of pocket. Also, some of the contractors are good, while some are not.

    I still have an appliance problem and this goes back to 17 July. I put in the first claim and Frig Wiz came out. They found they could not fix it. They had to order parts. We were down for a week. When the parts came in, they came back and put it in. Things worked great. Last Saturday, the refrigerator quit again. I called American Home Shield and asked them to get Frig Wiz back out. They said they would do that. Next thing I know, I was talking to Elite 360. I talked to the CEO of that company who said, “I don't know why they assigned me this work. They need to get Frig Wiz back out because I don't do closed systems." He called American Home Shield but nothing was resolved.

    I talked to American Home Shield again. I asked them what was so hard about getting Frig Wiz out. They said Frig Wiz was not showing in their system. We played that song and dance Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday. Yesterday morning, I called and said, “If you are gonna do it, tell me you're gonna do it. If you're not gonna do it, don't sit here and lie to me. You said you were gonna contact me on Tuesday within four hours. Today is Thursday and I haven't heard from anyone.” The young lady was apologetic.

    Sometime last night, an email came in that I just saw this morning. East Electronics was going to be here between 6:30 and 10:00 this morning. I got a text message from East Electronics. I responded to the text message and tried to call them back. They don't have a voicemail setup that you can leave a message. I sent them an extensive text. The bottom line is I still don't have refrigeration. It's been back and forth, and it has not been a good experience.

    I had one experience that said there wasn't anything wrong with the thermostat, but it was faulty. That was with a different company. I told American Home Shield the only qualm I have, that if somebody puts in a thermostat and they have problems with it, AHS should send the people back out that put the thermostat in. That happened to me. The new company came out and the man said, "What? Nothing wrong with it." But it was faulty. So, I called AHS back and told them to send the original people out here. They did, and the tech fixed it, and it was faulty.

    AHS always works with you. If you have a problem, they help resolve it. They're very professional. And the technicians that they send out are top-notch people. They know what they are doing and don't try to get more money out of you. I wouldn't exchange AHS for a million dollars. They saved me a lot of money. I'm a handicapped senior citizen person and I have to support a mentally challenged nephew who's 48, so every little penny helps. And they had helped me the past two years. I tell everybody how wonderful they are.

    I made my first claim, and I'm so disappointed. There was water leaking out from the bottom of my one toilet, and the other one is humming. I told the guy who came, and while he was there, he said, “Oh, we can fix that.” He started screwing something, and now, it's even louder. Someone was coming back out, but I got COVID, so I had to cancel my appointment and reschedule it. The lady said, “Oh, well, unless you give me a credit card for $195, we can’t come out.” She took my credit card to charge it $195, and I said, “What is this $195?” She said, “It's what's not covered” I asked, “What isn’t covered? You're not telling me.” She said, “I think they're going to put a seal on the one toilet and probably replace the thing that you flush.” That should be covered.

    I pay American Home Shield each month, and there's a $100 deductible. What's that for? Now, they're charging me $195. I don't understand what American Home Shield is covering. I put in a call to them and I was ignored. I asked them to have someone call me back over a week ago, and no one has called me back. Maybe once they see that I'm so dissatisfied, someone will call me.

    We had a very good service and a terrible service with American Home Shield. The last repairman was phenomenal. He came and fixed the dryer and the dishwasher. He knew what he was doing and was time conscious. He was the one who uncovered the previous call we placed for the dryer. The person created a fire hazard in our house, and we didn't even know. The reason we called back was the dryer was heating the clothes in the dryer to the point where you couldn't take it out with your own hands. You have to get a tong to get them out. The last repairman bypassed the part that was damaged. He clamped it, took a picture and showed it to me. That was why it was overheating it and making the terrible noise like a drum.

    The worse was when we had the plumber. We called for a leakage in the faucet. He took our very good faucet which they don't make it anymore, so I cannot just go and buy to replace that particular one. The faucet was $400 and he replaced it with $50. On top of it, because he was using a saw, he cut the gypsum. Now, the sink is damaged. To make things worse, he put what he called the lip as a stopper, which did not match. He said, "It's temporarily. I'll be here in a week and I'll fix the cut on the sink." Needless to say, he never showed up. Later on, we called another plumber for a completely different faucet. He came and told us there was no reason to remove the faucet. He showed me that was not necessary to even replace it. Now, we're stuck with three different faucets and the damaged sink.

    American Home Shield is expensive. We pay almost $100 a month to be part of them. They should absolutely verify who they're sending. That's why I'm paying that much money, and that's why I'm staying with them for 20 years. As a consumer, I can call the list. I have a booklet. In our neighborhood, the homeowners association distributes the list of plumbers, electrician, etc. With all the money that we spent paying every single month, that will come the same price to hire a plumber come.

    The companies they use and send to make repairs are small time 1 or 2 man run companies. I had a huge issue with my ac, it was spilling into the condo below me - it was a true emergency in the middle of summer. They sent people with ZERO experience. The repair man just kept dumping water in my ac and watching us pour out... It was a rental, I had to put my tenant up in a hotel. I had to travel almost an hour. Everything they sent me less and less qualified repair people. Every time I called I had to explain the whole story over and over. They don't take notes? It took over 2 weeks, 3 companies and 4 repair men to figure out that the person on the 1st floor's condensation line was backing up and pouring into my unit (3 floors share the same condensation line). Meanwhile their ignorance cost me thousands of dollars in missed work, gas and motel fees for my tenant.

    Point - they deal with small time companies that don't have the experience to deal with big issues.. and they will NEVER replace anything, just fix it temporarily till it breaks again.. They have horrible customer service reps that lie. Save your money, cheaper to pay for the repairs yourself. They end up being cheaper than the hundreds of dollars they charge for a yearly contract of incompetence..

    My air conditioner went out in the peak of summer a couple of weeks ago. I went online and I did the service request on a Friday. I was responded to on the same day that it'd been assigned and the company that I was assigned to. Then, they called me Monday morning and let me know that somebody was headed out that day. The guy was very professional and knowledgeable about what he was talking about. He showed me exactly what was going on and replaced the faulty part. He was there for 25 minutes, and 15 of those, I was asking questions. He made the work look easy, too. Our AC was not necessarily down-down, but it was not cooling, and he was able to get it fixed right away.

    The claims process works pretty fluidly with AHS and there are no real hiccups or snags in the whole process. But sometimes people need something done and they don't realize it because they didn't know that AHS does that. So if they have a more interactive way of seeing what do they offer, what's covered, what's not covered, the different types of policies and making that easier to understand, people will use them more even when they don't need a repair and just need more maintenance. That saves AHS and their clients money. I love the service and I'm not getting rid of it. It's a smart idea, AHS is very professional, and they do it right.

    I called American Home Shield to submit a claim for the air conditioner. Greenway came out and we had to pay for Freon. But they didn't do anything. They came out twice. All they did was take our money. We were without air for four weeks and it was 100 degrees. We could've called somebody else to come to fix it. It was ridiculous. When Fletcher came out, we had to do Freon again. But they did a remarkable job. I called American Home Shield and asked if we could be reimbursed for the first Freon because Greenway never fixed it. They didn't reimburse us. All that we did was pay out money for service. American Home Shield is terrible. This is not the first time that American Home Shield took four weeks to come and fix something. I was gonna leave them last year but I gave them one more chance, and they did it again. I'm done. All they're doing is finding people contractors, and we can do that ourselves.

    I like that with American Home Shield, I can get things fixed, repaired, and replaced. I only have to pay the $75 they charge. One contractor I had was Lake Water and my experience with them was good. I had three different plumbing issues and it took three weeks to get them fixed because, each time we had to get authority authorized by American Home Shield. After which the tech came back out and fixed the issue. He requested a second authorization and when he got it, he came back and fixed that too. It was the same for the third one. Everything seemed to be fixed well so I'm happy.

    There have been a few contractors that I'm not happy with and I probably won't use them in the future. When I call in a claim, I ask American Home Shield to give me the name of the contractor they are going to refer. If American Home Shield gives me one of those that I don't care for, I tell them I don't want that person or that company and they look to for another company for me.

    The main problem that I had with American Home Shield is they are still living in the 19th century and this is the 20th century. They won't cover some items. For example, they will only cover a microwave if it's built into the stove. Nobody does that anymore and that has not been done for tons of years. That does not make sense. American Home Shield needs to change with the times. The other thing is they didn't cover tankless water heaters for many years. I have that. I was checking the home warranty online some months back and I saw that they have a new plan where they would cover the tankless water heater. I increased from the plan I had to the new platinum one.

    I've been with American Home Shield for about eight years and they have been great to me. When I get a catastrophic event at the house, which I do from time to time because I have two properties and I had major damages to both, they were quick to respond. I didn't have any problem. I had a little bit of a hiccup with the last one but it wasn't their fault. When I informed them, it was resolved quickly.

    One Friday, I went home and the AC in the attic was making a strange sound and it wasn't blowing cool air. The techs from Piedmont Mechanical were outstanding. But prior to them, AHS sent out somebody else and those guys sucked. They gave me a timeframe from 9:00 to 5:00. I work 20 minutes from my house so I said I could go to work and then when they give me a time when they're gonna be there, I'll be home. Except they gave me nine minutes to get home and they were serious about that nine minutes, too. They were there in nine minutes and gone. I got a Ring camera. So I could see what time they got there. They didn’t call and say they were outside so I could tell them I was five minutes out and I would be there.

    The contractor told American Home Shield they would be back later on in the day but they came out on Saturday. They diagnosed the problem and then told me that the parts would be in on Tuesday. And on Tuesday, they would schedule another appointment to come out and get the work done. In the meantime, I had to buy a wall unit, knock out my screen and put it in. Tuesday came but they did not call me at all. So on Wednesday, I called American Home Shield and told them not to send these guys back to my house. They didn't call me so they didn't care about me. I didn't want them in my house. American Home Shield called Piedmont right away and they scheduled me for Friday. They came out, diagnosed and fixed the problem and I was up and going on Friday.

    AHS is outstanding and they should keep up the good work that they're doing. The only person out here before was this guy from Costco and it seemed like he wanted to rip me off. He was telling me he heard that they were no good and wanted to change out my whole AC unit for thousands and thousands of dollars. I said that I got American Home Shield so, if something goes wrong, they'll come out and fix it. But he said he heard some bad reviews about AHS.

    I was having problems because sewage was backing up into my home. It was leaking all over the floor, the carpets, my bathroom, my bathtub and my toilet. I called American Home Shield on a Friday but I didn't hear back from Mr. Rooter until Monday. They didn't come out until that following Tuesday. They snaked the line to try to clean it out. Initially, there wasn't an issue with it, but I wasn't home to use it. Whenever I got home on that following Friday, I was washing clothes and it backed up into the home again so I called them back out there. They ran a camera to go underneath the house to see if there was a problem. But I haven't heard back from them. They haven't told me anything. I don't think that they were very knowledgeable about what they were doing. They haven't resolved the issue at all.

    I thought that the first contractor did well until I figured out that he didn't do anything to help the situation. He went in through the first cleanout then said, "I can't get to that part of the house so I'm gonna need to get on the roof, but the roof is not covered by American Home Shield.” $322 was just for them to get on the roof to do the cleanout. It irritates me because it shouldn't matter where they go to do a cleanout. It shouldn't matter if they have to go on the roof or if they have to go down to the neighbor's house. Whenever he got on the roof, he said I just had a backup and that was a problem. I trusted him. But as it turned out, it wasn't the case.

    I had to call Mr. Rooter to tell them about the situation. Then they told me to call American Home Shield to get them to have a recall for them to come back out. Whenever Mr. Rooter came back out, the plumber said, “We're just gonna run a camera but a camera’s not covered.” It seems like I'm getting screwed on every level here with American Home Shield and Mr. Rooter because American Home Shield can't find anybody in my area to do it, even though there are 200 licensed plumbers in my area.

    Whenever I requested a contractor from my area, they gave me an entire list of things that I needed to do before I could get somebody to come out to my home. They had to be licensed. Before they could do an work, they had to do an evaluation. Then they had to contact American Home Shield to see if American Home Shield was going to cover anything. If you try to contact somebody, that might take a day for them to get it authorized. I had already been through that process for four days just to get somebody out there even though it was an emergency situation because the sewage was backing up into my home. I had to spend an extra $200 to go get something to clean the carpets to get all the sewage up, to clean my toilets and my bathtub. I'm already in this $700 at least and it hadn't fixed anything. I don't feel that American Home Shield is doing their due diligence to help me in any way possible because they're not covering anything that's needing to be done.

    The problem with American Home Shield is that whenever I call, I can't speak to anybody that's in America. I don't know that they can resolve anything by talking to a representative unless I get ahold of somebody in American Home Shield that can do something for me. It takes so long for me to get through to someone. Then they put me on hold and all they tell me is, "This is what's in the contract.” Then they'll just read me paragraph and paragraph within the contract. It doesn't resolve any issues that I have. I'm thinking about dropping American Home Shield.

    I like American Home Shield. Our AC went out and somebody immediately came out here and got it fixed. They were awesome. They got really good customer service. When I wasn't here, they'd still inform me that they were on their way just so I could let my husband know that they were coming. They would always give me a heads up before they were on their way.

    As far as AHS, I haven't come across anything that wasn't covered but I noticed that they pick whoever comes out and does a service. I think it'd be better to have more than one company be available to come out and fix the appliances because if it's only one company, they could be booked like when our AC was out for five days before Bean Appliance could come out here and get it fixed. Other than that, I recommend AHS all the time, especially for new home buyers. I always tell them that it's really cheap. The evaporator coil that we just got replaced was supposed to be like two to three grand, and we just paid $50 a month. So, it was awesome that they can do that for you for only $50 a month.

    Sometimes the service of AHS is good, sometimes it's not. They refuse to replace certain items or cover certain items that really should be covered. We had an air conditioning system that we had to have checked out. They sent South Placer Heating and Air. They told us what the problem was and said there was about $900 that would be covered and there was about $3,000 that they had to do that was not covered by American Home Shield. We wound up having to pay the extra money. I don't think that was right.

    Plus, it's been almost a year and a half now we've been working on a kitchen stove that they haven't been able to find parts for and have never done anything about it. We've gone back and forth for months. They should have just replaced the kitchen stove rather than making us wait. We have another refrigerator that's been on repair right now and the repairman said it's about $850. We thought they should have just replaced the refrigerator rather than paying $850 to repair it.

    We called American Home Shield because our unit wasn’t cooling. Repair people came out and they did something with the condenser. They worked with my husband. Everything was supposed to be good but the unit was still not cooling. We called back and the repair people had to get a part. We had to wait for the part to come in then they came out right away and replaced the part. We were good to go.

    But while we left the air running that weekend, it never cooled down. I called and today was the fourth time the repair people came back. Also, even though they replaced that part, the machine was making a noise. The repair guy went outside and he checked around that little bit then he went down. He checked the furnace and said that was good. Whatever they looked at downstairs is showing 53 degrees. He went back outside and he checked. There was too much Freon and it was bypassing the condenser. He said that he's fixed that and that the unit should cool down. It's been about four hours. I have the AC set down to 64 and it just won't go down past 73. It's not as hot out as it had been but it still should be cooling to what we want it to be cooling to.

    The repair people will need to come back out. I chatted with American Home Shield and they said that they haven't received the report yet. Once they do, they’ll decide whether or not they'll have somebody come back out again. That will be then the fifth time that the repair people will come out. I just wish that they would fix the problem.

    American Home Shield's claim process seems okay. I just do it on my phone. There might be a better place if I actually go on the computer. Last night, I put in a request for somebody to come out and they automatically went ahead and charged me $125. This was a recall situation so I had to call. They said they would cancel my request and put it in as a recall. I just wish there was an easier process to do that so I wouldn’t have to go in, put in the request then call and talk to somebody, have them redo it, and sit on the phone with them while they do it.

    I have two central air units. One of them was blowing air, but it was not cold. I submitted a claim with American Home Shield and they've been very cooperative. It’s just that the repair people have come several times and every time, it seems like it's working. Then the next day, it's back to the same situation where it's not cooling again. They were here today at my house and hopefully the repair works. So I'm keeping my fingers crossed on this one. I also put in claims for other products and I've had very good experiences, except for when my washer broke. The techs came and said it needed a part. So they ordered the part. Then, three weeks went by and I still had no washing machine. So, I called American Home Shield and asked what was going on. They said the part was not in yet.

    After over two months that I didn't have my washing machine, they got my issue resolved. But during that period, I called American Home Shield several times. I was angry and I got disconnected, accidentally or intentionally, several times in my calls. For two times, it was them who disconnected me and at certain points, I got very frustrated talking to them. In the end, I was told by the repair company that the part is not being made anymore. So finally, I got the machine replaced. All in all, it's been a great thing for me to have AHS and the warranty helped me out big time. I've had to fight for some of the stuff, but I've gotten everything.

    The microwave would shut off and just stopped working. My wife submitted the claim and then she met with the technician. She said he was very, very helpful and very personable. He was able to assist her in any questions that she had. He said it was a dead microwave. There was no turning on. We had some breakers that we had to flip. He tested the outlet the microwave was plugged into. But it was just the microwave would not turn on anymore. So it was recommended for replacement.

    This last time, a really good company helped us with our furnace. They were really spot on, fast and efficient. They knew exactly what the problem was and they took care of it right away. But AHS's service is inconsistent. I've had some situations where I've had to call them or they have called me and I have a hard time understanding the person that I was talking with on the phone. They had such a heavy accent. It appears that AHS must farm out a certain amount of their phone calls.

    I had a credit card issue and somebody had fraudulently used my credit card. So, my bank was in the process of sending me a new card. During that time, I got a call from AHS and the person was very irate about the fact that my monthly debit had not gone through. I realized right away when she called that it was because they stopped everything on that credit card. She couldn't understand that I had to wait until I got my new credit card to reinstate my monthly debit. She was really rude about that.

    It depends on who you talk to at American Home Shield. You might get somebody who is really knowledgeable about AHS and how business is run. And then again, you may not.

    Our AC flooded one of the bedrooms. The drain pipe got clogged up, so it caused the water to back up, which then went over the side all over the grounds, distorted the drywall, went under the wall and into the office and then screwed up the carpet. I tried to turn it into my homeowners insurance, and they wanted a $4,000 deductible. I said, “Wait a second. I thought it was only $2,000.” The guy said, “No. It's $2,000 plus 2%.” I couldn't afford that, but luckily, I had American Home Shield. The service person they sent out was awesome. He wasn't supposed to be there until 3:00 or 5:00, and he showed up at 11 o'clock in the morning.

    The service person was in and out, and he was very polite and informative. He unclogged the pipe then told me exactly what was wrong and how to keep it from happening again. He said every other month, I should put some Drano into the pipe that I thought was supposed to be an exit pipe. He said, “No. It'll go into the tray and kill any mold that might be growing there because of the high humidity. It'll also flush out the system.” Overall, I liked American Home Shield’s service. My plan expires on the 26th of September, and I have a couple more issues that I need to have somebody come out and look at. My wine refrigerator quit working and my icemaker is not working properly in the refrigerator as well. I’m definitely gonna jump on that before I lose this warranty.

    I still have an AC problem. They want me to pay them $5,000 but I don’t have $5,000. The guy came out but he didn't want the home warranty company to pay. He wanted me to pay out of pocket. He rudely walked in here from the get-go. He said I needed a drain pan. The drain pan they said was leaking and was missing the hangers to hang it in the attic. But my air conditioner been working all this time. It just went out recently. The guy looked at it. He came out twice to tell me the same thing. He was trying to tell me whoever did the repair the last time should come out and fix it. I told him I’ve got a warranty now, so they could come out and fix it.     I've been with American Home Shield for a little while and besides the copay going up, it's good service. It just continues to go up as the payment goes up. The co-payment, when I started with American Home Shield a little while back, was like $65 and now, we're up to $82. My washer went out and we were waiting on parts. So, this same exact company with my refrigerator, two days later, went out. I called American Home Shield. I had to pay $82.19 again. They sent the same company out. I thought that was a little bit over the top. I understand the policy but within a week, that could have been added since I was still waiting anyway. I thought that that was a little much.

    AHS is good when you need it but at the same time, if that would have happened a month later, suck it up. It wasn't even a week and we were still waiting on parts. The washer was fixed after the refrigerator. So, I don't see why they couldn't have added that to the ticket as one service call. They come to the same address at the same time. That had sort of thrown me.

    American Home Shield was great. They sent the people out because something kept tripping the electric switch. The techs said that there was nothing wrong with the unit and that it was an electrical issue. The job got transferred to an electrician. He came out and said they were wrong. He replaced the breaker just to make sure it wasn't going bad. Two hours after he left, it did it again so that was definitely not the problem. The techs came back and they put in a kill switch so that if it took too long to start up, it wouldn't overwhelm the breaker. When the other guy from the AC place came the second time, it took him 10 minutes.

    In the end, the techs fixed the problem and I haven't had any other trouble. Everybody I dealt with was very professional and pleasant. American Home Shield gives me peace of mind. I can pay the $100 and someone's going to come out and fix whatever the issue is or let me know if they can't fix it. I like that I can put in orders online, which is very convenient. I've recommended the home warranty to a few people.

    We got water back up into the tray for our HVAC unit and it was the same gentleman that has been out two times before who came when we filed a claim through our home warranty.     I had an issue with my dishwasher. It was a valve that was broken, and then the dishwasher poured out gallons of water. The tech looked and had to order a part. That took a few weeks. But then when he changed the part, everything was good. It did, however, cause some damage to our floor, so we had to go to the homeowners’ for that. But the dishwasher's working well now.

    I've had a couple of appliances in the past that couldn't be repaired and AHS replaced them immediately. They usually get the service person out right away. It has gone up quite a bit. When we first got it, it was 54 a month and now it's 74. But I like the fact that they pay the service person the basic 125 and we don't have to pay anything else. That's my favorite thing about it.

    Everything was turned off because it was a cool day and I remember turning the air conditioner off to conserve energy. Then, I went out to water my flowers and I realized the compressor ran all night even though it was turned off. The inside pipes in the inside unit were all frozen up and the guy came and did work on it. He took a picture of the part that was faulty and fixed it. I was very satisfied with the tech. He was excellent. He was very professional and explained everything that he was doing. He took pictures of everything on his phone and showed me the part that was burned up. He went to the truck, got a new one and showed it to me before he put it in. Then, he showed me when he put the new one in and took the old one out. I was very pleased with that guy.

    American Home Shield’s website was easy enough. I'm 64 years old and I'm not that good with computers but I don't have any problem with asking for service. The only thing is I had to wait three days in 90-something degree weather for somebody to come. But I realized that it's summertime and they're all backed up. It's usually a prolonged wait but that's the only issue I ever had with them. Because whenever I call, somebody does come. I've never been dissatisfied. Even if I had to call them back, they always fix whatever. AHS is worth it. I like it. I'm happy that I have it because it's peace of mind for me.

    I am very upset with AHS. My mom's dryer wasn’t working in her washer. My mom is almost 90 years old and she was trying to take clothes to the laundry to do them. The tech fixed the washer. But with the dryer, they said that the cord had burned and that was what the problem was. But that wasn’t it. I had to have an electrician come and change the cord and fix that. We paid for that. After we got it done, the dryer was making a loud noise. I called the company that came out the first time. The tech came back, looked at it and said, “I’m gonna write it up. The washer and the dryer should be replaced.” We waited. Over a year or so later, we’re still waiting for the dryer to be replaced.

    She also had a ceiling fan that went out. The tech wrote down that we needed some ceiling fans. He wrote down two but only did one. When we called and asked, he said, “Oh, no. I did say the one.” He also never came back. The dishwasher, she's just using it to put dishes in because it wasn't working. They said that they would replace it. They told us to go and look. Some days, it's hard for my mom to get out. So, I told them, “It would be better just go ahead and get one and send it.”

    They sent one out. But the guy had the wrong parts. They told me I'd have to call somebody else to get that done. I ended up having to get somebody to come put the dishwasher in. Then they also sent out a technician for the appliances because her stove wasn’t working. It took forever to get the stove replacement. But they finally got that in. I'm very dissatisfied right now that my mom is paying AHS money every month. Plus every time we call them, that's $100 for the techs to come out.

    I had an AC problem and the claim went fine with American Home Shield. They assigned me a contractor. I didn't like the contractor at first. I opened the claim on a Friday. So, they gave me a time that they were going to come out on Tuesday. It was supposed to be between 10:00 and 2:00 or maybe 1:00 and 5:00. When the rep called to confirm, she said, "Oh, no. It's going to be between like 5:00 and 9:00 PM.” I was like, "No. I have it right here on my phone. You sent an automatic text message." She said, "Well, we came in this morning to over 70 calls. So this is when we're coming." Then it got late like 8:30 and they hadn't called or anything yet. I was like, "They're not coming." So, I called American Home Shield back and said, "I just want a new contractor." I also looked at the reviews of them on Yelp and they have like 1-star.

    Then the guy called at 9:15 and he was really nice on the phone. He said, "Can I come by?" And I said, "I don't know what you're gonna see, but you can try." He came by and he used his cell phone out there for light. He said, "I know exactly what it is. It's gonna be super easy to fix. I'll be back tomorrow between like same time in the evening." Then I didn't hear from him. So, I called the office. I said, "I didn't hear from him yesterday. I thought he was coming out." The rep said, "Well, he doesn't make the schedule." The office of the contractor was super rude. The technician was so nice and that was the only reason I was happy. When they got the part, he came back out the following week. There was kind of a delay in the service on the contractor's end, not American Home Shield. But I would use them again. I would also use the company again, Standlee, but only because the technician is who you deal with at your house.

    We're pretty happy with American Home Shield. The only downside with American Home Shield is that we have to wait 24 to 48 hours. But I suppose this time of year, that's to be expected. But the process is easy and quick. We just call in within that time frame and then somebody's here. The contractor that came out for the AC did a good job. They were quick. We had two repairs that weren't too difficult and both times that the tech came out, he had exactly what he needed to fix the issues. So we were up and going. He was able to fix the issues really fast without ordering parts.

    My air conditioning is not working. The man from ATR came out on the 25th, and he got it started and then it broke. I tried to contact ATR. The man called me last week. But I called back to American Home Shield because I shouldn't have to wait this long to get somebody to come out and repair their service. They already had him out. But you cannot reach them. The man gave me a receipt and he said, “If you have any problem, call us back. And we'll come out again.” But they don't answer their phone. So I've been waiting two more weeks. We don't have air at all in my house. I had to go buy air conditioner and fans. This is the worst service I ever had with American Home Shield. Overall, I haven't really had a problem with American Home Shield. They have a lot of people that are not speaking English real well. But they do satisfy you much as they can. But you really can't understand some of them.

He wrote me an estimate. So, right now, we just need to get a whole new system. Then, I called AHS and it was set up for a plumber to come out. When the second guy came out, he was very nice and polite.

    I've had a headache with AHS for the past month now. There's little to no help. I spent over four hours on the phone with them now to finally get through to what is the right contractor to fix my washing machine. It's been a god-awful mess. The customer service reps were not helpful whatsoever. I put in an escalation claim, where they sent me to a different department. The first few times I put that in, I got no callback. I had to go through the wringer again with the customer service folks. They should provide the customers with a callback number that they can reach out to the escalation department or even just a general email address. They weren't able to provide me with anybody's name over there on the other end, which was dissatisfying. Then, through my four hours on the phone, I was explaining my frustrations to one of the customer service reps and he actually hung up on me. That really pissed me off.

    The first tech allegedly couldn't work on our washer ‘cause they needed two people to work on it. The second guy said that there was no problem, even though we showed him a video of where it was leaking from. Then the third one, I got an email yesterday that the parts were being ordered for the replacement. They need to expedite the process. It was just way too much time. I don't know much about how to fix a washing machine but based on the pictures and videos and all the evidence that we were showing these professionals, it seems like they should have been able to do it. It seems like American Home Shield was negligent to the contractors they're sending out there and just feeding their excuses. If I like to get a home warranty once this one lapses, it will not be with American Home Shield.

    American Home Shield acts quickly. I've had great service on small appliances. But my AC has been a nightmare. The company that they sent out has 2 and 3-star reviews on Google. Their technicians are horrendous. They duped me into spending $400 on Freon and that wasn't the fix. So, I had to call then file a complaint. AHS had to send out a different technician. Because that technician and I got into it on the phone and they refused to respond to me anymore. The new technician came out and said I got a irreparable issue and it's got to be replaced. After I had already paid $400 for new Freon, why was I charged $400 for Freon if the system's not repairable?

    I've had small repairs on my AC in the past. But this is the first time that AHS had to do an actual replacement. Considering I've paid AHS $6,000, $7,000 since I've been there and this is the first big ticket item that's come up to actually need replacement and I'm not feeling 100% confident in the coverage. And I didn't use the vendor that they chose because of the horrible reviews. And the vendor told me that AHS would pay $980. But when I did the cash claim for reimbursement, AHS said, "We'll give you 830." I don't understand if they're willing to pay 980 to US Air, why wouldn't I get 980? Having a choice of vendors to pick from would be a significant change that needs to happen especially if somebody's had a bad experience. That's something that AHS should consider.

    I like American Home Shield. That's why I’m still keeping it. On our most recent claim, we had a second opinion contractor go to the location today and met my tenant. They have not given me feedback, though. My tenant has given me feedback that the technician couldn't do much because it was like the system was frozen. They spoke that the technician should come tomorrow so that they can turn off the AC and let it defrost so that he can properly identify what the fault might be.

    The first technician they sent there gave thousands of dollars of bills. My own out-of-pocket fees was about $2,700. A brand new air conditioning system doesn't cost even up to that. So, I requested a second opinion and that was who went there today for the first time. I got them send me something saying it's a bill. The information I got from my tenant was that the air conditioner was frozen and the tech couldn't identify exactly what was going on without the air conditioning going through.

    Every other job with AHS has gone very well, and I've paid all the bills I'm supposed to pay. It's just that some of the third-party contractors they send sometimes don't have their interest in mind when they meet their clients. When they come over to my house, they don't represent AHS very well with the attitude and the services they give. Some of them give their best when they come. Also, sometimes you run into some agents who know the culture of American Home Shield but sometimes, you run into some who don't understand.

    The call centers are definitely abroad. So, it takes a long time. They ask for a lot of information before one can even say what the big problem is. I wish the call centers were in the States, but they’re not. Also, I have to call multiple times, because the issue isn't resolved the first visit. The contractor just came back out to fix the problem. Right now, they came to fix my dishwasher. They fixed it. But it’s now doing the same issue that I had in the first place. So, I’m waiting for next week. They may need to come back out.

    A lot of the problems that appliances were having, American Home Shield should have just switched him out after multiple visits. I was without a washing machine for close to two months, because they expected parts to be ordered, a whole new drama, a whole new transmission. If the rep had switched it out, meeting a customer without a washing machine for two months with two kids, shouldn’t have been the case.

    The contractor took over two months to get my grandma's AC working in her house. Because the people that American Home Shield sent out had to order the part. And they tried to say they were waiting for AHS to contact them to verify that they could purchase the part that she needed to put the AC unit. That was ridiculous. Somebody is doing my granny wrong. But my claims here have been fixed. One was an electrical problem I was having. I told the gentleman what the problem was. The man tried to tell me there was nothing they could do. That's not on my warranty. He wasn’t even in the house two minutes. AHS did an investigation, but they never got back to me on that. The latest thing now is my washer and dryer. My dryer went out. I spoke with the gentleman yesterday. I knew exactly what it was. It was the heating coil in the dryer.

    We spoke yesterday at 2 o'clock. I told him what it was, which was the heating coil.” Gave him the ID number, model number, and name over the telephone when he set up the appointment. He came this morning. He said, “It’s the heating coil. Unfortunately ma’am, I don't have one. I'm gonna be in Houston all day today. So I'll get back to you tomorrow morning.” I have a load of clothes that need to be dry. I told the gentleman, “See if you can get back today.” Other than that, I have been with AHS and I knew exactly what I was looking for. And just like the little hiccup today, I could just call and tell them what happened and they would have sent someone else. But with that, they wouldn't do that. That someone else that they assigned to my case will eventually get out here until tomorrow.

    We had to use AHS for an air conditioning issue. It was a 100-degree day and they got someone out here quicker than I could have on my own. Plus, I didn't have to go through the phone book and call around 30 places, which I had to deal with a garage door because that was something that wasn't covered. So, I found out the hassle when you're trying to find your own contractors. It could get a lot more difficult and AHS seem to send people that know what they're doing and are professional.

    The techs who came for the AC were very nice and friendly. There was a good mixture of professionalism, yet chit-chatty too. They were also able to get there a day earlier than initially thought. They had something clear up and they called me immediately and bumped me up. Everything about it was an enjoyable experience.     I did an appliance claim online to American Home Shield. The bottom part of the freezer wouldn't open up. The website was fine, but some of the questions that I needed for my service weren't on there. So, I ended up putting one thing but it didn't have that part on there for me to elaborate more on what was happening. The options are very limited. When I put the refrigerator, I really didn't have an option for the freezer. The type of freezers they have now are the ones that open up like a cabinet. Mine was a bottom drawer part and now the top part. It wasn't enough for the technicians. They didn't have enough questions. So when they came out, then you start explaining it to them, and to me, they're not prepared.

    When I did the claim, I received a text stating that AHS found someone. I have it in the text and they also sent it out in the email that my service has been submitted. When the tech initially came out, he introduced himself. He did inform us of the company that he was coming in for. I also received a call and a text from them prior. Then when he came out, I started explaining to him that the freezer wouldn't open up. I said, "The reason why you didn't have more information is because the site wouldn't allow me to elaborate exactly what is going on." He didn't do anything on the first visit. He told me to cut the freezer off and let it defrost. Then after it would defrost, I should call them back and they'd come back out. I defrosted the refrigerator and called them back.

    By this time, I couldn't reach anybody with the company. I was at the hospital at that time and I called American Home Shield and I said, "My food is being ruined while I'm waiting on them to come back out." The rep said, "Well, there's nothing we can do about your food." I said, "Fine. But I don't want to put in a new ticket. I'm just letting you know this ticket needs to stay open because I did everything they told me to do. And I'm still waiting for them to come out." He said, "Okay."

    The next day, I called and told them, "The refrigerator, my food is being ruined. I can't get reimbursement. One of your guys is coming back out." The rep scheduled me for someone to come out. The person who came out got the water out of the bottom of the freezer and he turned it back on, and that was when I realized the whole refrigerator is not working. By that time, 24 hours had passed. The refrigerator was not cooling. I didn't call American Home Shield. I called the company back. I said, "The refrigerator is not cooling. I need someone to come out." It took them a few days to come back out and then only to tell me that they need to order a part because something had gone out in the freezer. So, I was like, "So is that what's causing the whole unit not cooling?" He said, "Yes." I was like, "Well, I tried to explain this to you guys." They didn't listen to me.

    They were very nice. Every time they came out, they always explained. I don't have anything against the company. I think it was just from me initially putting in my request because I wasn't able to give out enough information. American Home Shield's website didn't allow me to give much detail. With the delay as far as the problem is resolved, I lost food and I was told that I couldn't get reimbursed for the food.

    The icemaker is broken and we can’t seem to get it fixed. I made my initial claim in December but the techs didn't come out until a lot later because they were backed up. When they did get out, they fixed it and then, it didn't work. They fixed again and it didn't work. The metal piece that's in there that turns keeps on freezing. There's something wrong with the temperature because you can see where the ice is melting and it freezes the whole bottom. The last time the techs came out, they replaced the flap but the icemaker is still not fixed so I called them again. It is making ice but people have to dig in their hands in the freezer. It doesn’t dispense. And I'm particular. The first time the techs came, I bleached my whole refrigerator. I'm still worried about the germs. So now, we're living with it because it's still not fixed.

    I've had every part changed. There is a tray that folds out and it was replaced twice. Then, they replaced the flap on the door. It has to do with the temperature because before, it said the temperature was off. But the people are great. I like that each time they come out, I'm not paying another $75. It is annoying that they can't get it fixed but I don't blame American Home Shield. I blame the company that they’re sending to fix it.

    The AC was accumulating water on the bottom. The tech cleaned out the plate that covers the water. It was good. The one that I had a little complaint about was the last one that I asked for help with, the plumbing. I ask everybody that is going to do something at my house to give me at least one hour because I live 45 minutes away from my work. I was at work and the tech called me, "I'm 45 minutes away." I said, "That's fine. I'm on my way." Then after that, I got home and I had to wait 45 minutes more. I lost pretty much time of my work just sitting there waiting for them. For now, AHS is fine. But it got a little higher this year. For now, I can afford it. Once it goes too high, it's gonna be difficult. I was looking for other quotes, but I stay with the people that I already know.

    When we signed up with AHS, it was $500. The next year, we got a premium notice and it was 700. I called them and the lady said they could come up with something a little better. So, they took 100 bucks off. We had to use AHS on our air conditioner. We also used them on our garage door opener recently, too. When the tech told us what was wrong, AHS paid for the opener. But we had to wait for three weeks for them to get there from the day we called. They told us we had to get the new springs and they put on new rollers and that cost us $650. So, we paid for it.

    It was an inconvenience not getting there for at least three weeks. But they came on a Friday night and they had a call from Wichita. They had just finished a job. They got there about 7:30 and they left 9:30 and they had to drive all the way back to Tulsa, which was a four-hour drive. They had made seven stops that day. Ours was the seventh one.

    I like that American Home Shield will have someone come out and repair things when things break down. I just don't like the vendors that they had. I had a refrigerator and stove went out. I had to call American Home Shield three times in order for me to get another vendor to come out because the first vendor I had wouldn't answer my phone calls, never tried to reach out to me and let me know, “Okay. We just got a contact. You got a call from American Home Shield. And we need to come out and fix this.” I never heard anything from them. Even today, I have yet to hear anything from them.

    Last year, I had an electrician come out because the electricity in my house went out in my other house. He told me I owed him X amount of dollars. I paid him because I was in the middle of lunch and I didn't have time to debate with him. I think American Home Shield should follow up with their vendors. Other than that, they're doing their job.

    I initially had the tech come out to check the oven because it wasn't working. When he came in, he said that the ignition box was not working. He had to replace it. So he replaced it, which should have had the oven working. I used the oven for the first time last night to cook a pizza. The pizza was supposed to take 22 minutes to an hour and a half and I had to turn it up to 425 degrees in order for it to cook. But overall, it was a smooth and easy service.

    American Home Shield has been satisfactory for the most part. I have two claims - one is for my air conditioner and the other one is for my refrigerator. The claims process as far as American Home Shield doing their part was simple. It's just a long process because you have to try so many things before things can get fixed. With the refrigerator, American Home Shield sent someone out to do it. However, whatever they did didn’t fix the problem. Then that person was hard to contact or get in contact with. But American Home Shield got another company to come out and were they able to get a result from there. I love Luke, the technician for my air conditioner. He was very nice. He checked everything and was very thorough.

    The only problem I have is talking to the people from American Home Shield when you're trying to explain to them the problem. I had a lot of problems that happened at one time. I don't know why but they need to mess up all together. One of them was my sink. I told them that I had a leak then I had a problem with the water. They kept sending someone out for the water but they said it was not an issue that they were fixing. It was something else. When they sent another man out for the leak, he said they didn't send him for the leak, they sent him for the water. I also had an issue with my stove where they didn't cover the rewiring of someone putting in the new stove. They just covered the stove itself. Those are very inconvenient things.

    In the past, American Home Shield has been a little questionable. Most of our issues ended up being air conditioning related. There would be two weeks we’d be waiting for an AC part then they’d realize that wasn’t even what they needed. But in the last six to eight months, they’ve got some new vendors they’re working with. Our most recent year and half has been much better. We've had expensive parts and we've been able to have quick service, within 24 to 48 hours. Rivers Reliable has been great for us. They were able to come out and fix the AC and even did a band-aid fix so that it was temporarily fixed for a week and a half until they could get the parts in.

    American Home Shield schedules the service calls fast so I like that. I had an electrical issue and according to the technician, that was more of an upgrade. A microwave was put in when the home was renovated and the wattage is different from the breaker so it trips at times. The technician advised me that American Home Shield would not cover that because that's considered an upgrade and they would have to put in another breaker. But that’s something that should be covered.

    I have these lights over my Jacuzzi which aren't the regular lights were I can just screw the bulb and put a new one in. I couldn't get them out.     Getting through to them took a little bit of a wait which I understood. My issue was a water heater. I was unable to get ahold of the initial contractor they set up. Then they told me, “Oh, it's 7 to 10 days before we could even schedule to come in and talk to you. I said, “Yeah, that's unacceptable.” So I called their customer service guy back and explained to him. I go, “I'm venting so don't take this personally. I'm just telling you. This is not about you, that the vendor you have is horrible. And please sign me up for somebody else.” So they did and those guys were out within an hour.

    The contractor did well. But their issue with American Home Shield is that they charge a $150 come-out fee and AHS only allows $100. They said they were denied by Home Shield. They were like, "They're not gonna let us come out.” And I'm like, “You're here. You've already ordered the water here. Why?” They said, “Because of the difference in the cost.” I said, “Tell them I'll cover it. I don't care.” I put $100 down, and then it ended up being $150, but I wanted the problem fixed. AHS needs to work with the contractors a little bit on their first consultation. If their people are not willing to do the job for American Home Shield, they need to find another contractor.

    My washing machine would not drain. I called American Home Shield and it was very easy to get through. They told me Sears would be coming. The technician looked at the machine and said he thought it was a pump. He had to order the pump, and it’d be another two weeks before they came out. That was the only thing I did not like. It took me a month to get my washing machine repaired. I want somebody local. American Home Shield contacted somebody here in Shelton who fixed it before.     We used American Home Shield a couple times and one time we tried to use it, they denied the claim. That was a pain. It's hit-or-miss with American Home Shield. Some of the contractors will pass the claim off to someone else, or say, “I can't do that,” or “It's not covered,” if they don't wanna do it. That’s an issue we had with a plumbing issue.

    American Home Shield is good especially if you have an older house. It helps. I like that they've simplified the process of submitting a claim. That can be done online. But it's a pain if you wanna talk to someone. That's not very helpful. Also, the fine print is where things have gotten screwy. We made sure everything in the house was covered including plumbing. We ended up having a water leak. We had a guy come out and try and figure it out. In the end, he didn't completely find the leak, but said, “It's outside of the foundation, so it's not gonna be covered.” It was maybe 6 inches outside of the foundation, but it was still before the shutoff. That, normally, is inside the foundation.

    It's little things like that that we wish we could have appealed to someone. They said the only way to appeal is to get another contractor out there. Also, one time, our heat wasn't working. It was going to be cold, which was why we had our heater on. But it wasn't considered an emergency because it wasn't going to hit below 40 degrees for the night.

    We bought this house, and the water heater was old and ready to go. So, our house flooded because the water heater was leaking. We took care of that, then American Home Shield had someone replace the water heater very good. I had very little issues with American Home Shield or All American Plumbing, but when they replaced the water heater, unfortunately, they must have touched the gas valve. Because the same day, after we had hot water for half a day, I could smell gas in the air. We had a gas technician come out for an emergency call, and he determined that there was a gas leak at the valve where the natural gas was being pumped into the house. We had to have the gas shut off. So, they had to come back and replace that part of the valve that was leaking and broken most likely as a result of extending the water heater, because none of us messed with the gas line.

    The customer service was fantastic. I absolutely loved every interaction with American Home Shield and All American Plumbing, and I would not go to any other home warranty. I even had a billing question, and that was answered to me so competently. I had to carry some cost myself, because something was not covered by my plan. I inquired about why this cost suddenly fell on to us, and it was laid out for me so well that I wouldn't even want to argue about it. It made perfect sense. I felt very well-taken care of, and I absolutely agreed to the terms that I initially signed, so that was very good all around.

    Our pump burned out. American Home Shield has sent this particular company before, so I was really comfortable with it. We watched the tech put the new pump in and we discussed it with him in person. It went really well. As far as American Home Shield, I have had problems with them in the past. If I was in conversation with someone and they're asking about American Home Shield, I would be sure to emphasize that they got to understand AHS only replaces like with like, and sometimes, they take forever trying to repair an old thing like years ago on our heat pump. We finally just bailed on using them and bought a new heat pump. It was ridiculous. The months dragged out with them trying to fix the 16-year-old piece of equipment that they should have just replaced. They're not in the business of giving you new stuff very often.

    When we first moved in, we got AHS because it seemed like the prudent thing to do. There was a period of almost 10 years when my husband's job was in a different state, and I wasn't always here, but I always had someone in the house. What American Home Shield provided was if there was a problem, I didn't have to figure out what plumber or electrician to call. I could just make one call to AHS, and they would find the vendor that could fix my problem. That part was very helpful. They were an easy source for finding a vendor and generally speaking, they've got good people that they pick to come out and do stuff.

    I had a little tornado come and it lifted the vent off my roof a little, and I didn't realize it. A few weeks later, my water heater busted while I was gone.     I am disgruntled with American Home Shield. I have an air conditioner that has not been working since June, and American Home Shield has not done anything yet. They went from Mister Freeze to so many people, and then they did everything that they need to do. My own technician came in and said, “This needs to be replaced.” Now after a month and a half almost, they said, “Yeah, it needs to be replaced. Now, we need to order equipment.” I still don't have air conditioning.

    Mister Freeze HVAC was called for more than one location and pretty much, the script is the same. The tech came into the location where I have a tenant, and he was telling her that the air conditioning had valves that leaked. He said also that there was a capacitor that needed to be replaced among other things. Then he said that he needed to fill it with Freon. That is not covered by American Home Shield. AHS covers $10 of about the first three pounds. I asked how much Freon my system needs and he told me, “Well, it needs 10 to 15 pounds.” I said, “Okay. 10 to 15 pounds at your price that you are quoting me, that means it's about $1,800 or more.”

    He was extremely rude and arrogant in a way. He was telling me, “Oh, I know what I'm what I'm doing.” I said, “I didn't question that. I'm just asking, how much this system takes in in Freon, the 3.5 ton air condition?" So he said, “Okay, so if I tell you 10 to 15, does that make you feel better?” I said, “No. It's not that if I tell you 10 to 15, it makes me feel better. I wanted to know how much this takes.” He said the capacitor was leaking. I said, “Okay, so if you're telling me that this is leaking, is it only leaking from here, from this valve? So if the valve is fixed and the capacitor is fixed?" I also said, “Okay, go ahead and fill it with Freon, and I will pay for the Freon. What is your guarantee that this system is not leaking from somewhere else?” He wouldn't answer.

    He said, “We have to fill it with Freon. And then we will determine if it's leaking from somewhere else.” I said, “Yeah, but I am gonna be spending $2,000. And then the Freon will be just gone in a couple of days or in a day. What is assurance that there is no other leak other than this one that you are seeing right here on the condenser?” I actually drove to this property to speak to him. It happened that I was in the area. I was 15 minutes away. I said, “Okay, so why don't you go ahead and fix what is covered under the home warranty?” He said, “No, I'm not fixing anything.” He just left. So, I had to call American Home Shield. They sent another company. The guy from Plumbers Inc came in and said, “No, there's nothing wrong with the capacitor. The capacitor is working. There is a leak here. I'm gonna fix the leak. But then there's Freon that we need to complete.” I paid like $250 out of pocket for Freon.

    American Home Shield is the worst company ever. You call their customer service, and you cannot even understand what they are saying. They don't understand you. They have a script that they learned in their training. When you call, you wait for a day or five and then you say, “Okay. Well, I would like to escalate. I would like to speak to a manager.” They will not transfer you to a manager. They'll say, “Oh, I will transfer you to a lead, but the lead is gonna tell you the same thing.” Indeed, the lead is saying the same thing.

    I told them, “When I bought my home warranty, and I asked you about what is covered, you told me everything is covered on the air condition. You did not disclose to me that the Freon is not covered and it's expensive. And we only covered the first $10 of the first two or three pounds.” At the same time, they said, “Well, you're supposed to read your contract.” I said, “But I bought the warranty and I paid for it. And then you send me the contract. You did not send me the contract before.”

    Another issue is that a lot of these vendors that they send out come up with what they call modifications and non-covered cost. Apparently, American Home Shield does not pay their contractors much. So, they tried to make it up from the consumer. American Home Shield wants to exhaust all efforts. They brought in somebody to do an isolation test and they filled it with nitrogen, and they left the nitrogen for a week. They came back after a week, and they said, “Yeah, it's all leaked out. Now, the condenser and the coil need to be replaced.” During the process, the unit that they were working on was the upstairs unit. When the guy was in the attic, he messed up also the downstairs unit. They admitted their mistake, and they came back and fixed it but until today, I don't have air conditioning and temperatures have been over 100 degrees.

    I had a drip and I thought it was with the air conditioning unit. So, I originally asked AHS for the air conditioner man, but when the air conditioner man came out, he said it was not an air conditioner problem. It was something up in our pipes, which was under the floorboard. So I rescheduled and AHS sent the plumber with Metropolitan Plumbing. The plumber was a very nice gentleman and he was polite. He looked at the dishwasher because that was where I thought the leak was coming from. He pulled the little thing out of the dishwasher and took everything out of the cabinets. He said there was no water there and that if there was a leak there, he would see water either under the dishwasher or in the cabinets.

    Then we went downstairs and he looked at the water dripping. He said it was dripping from up there and it might be a pipe just under our floor. He said it must be small, but it must be constant, because the wood was rotting. Most plumbers that I know, if they need to cut some wood to get to the pipe, then they cut the wood. But that little fella said that he didn’t do that. He said that he would write up the report and send it to American Home Shield, and they would send somebody.

    He said I would get a call from them saying that they could get somebody to cut the woods. But I talked to American Home Shield and they said they don't have anyone to come out and cut the wood out so the plumber can get to the pipe. So I've not been helped yet. I had to give up $100 for no reason at all for the tech to come out and tell me that they need to come and send somebody to cut the floor. And now I'm rethinking the whole American Home Shield process because they can't help me and I'm going to have to get somebody on the outside to come in and cut the wood so a plumber can get to the leak.

    At this point, I'm ready to cut AHS off. It's so frustrating when you try to pay for service so you’ll be covered then when something happens, you're not covered. Aside from that, I'm paying them a monthly fee which they take out of my account, but every time I call them, I got to pay 100 dollars. That's wrong and $100 don’t grow on trees.

    I had some issues with my garbage disposal, a leaky faucet, and the toilet needed some internal repair. When I initially called in to AHS, the representative asked me what the problems were and I explained them to her. We went through each problem with a video recording of what the issues were then she came up with the company that would be doing the work. Then, they called me to set up an appointment for it. The plumber was very knowledgeable and professional. He had to leave and come back because the part that was needed for the toilet was at another location. So, he went to pick it up and came back. In the end, all three issues were worked out. Before this, we also had was an electrical issue with the stove and the techs came out and repaired that as well.

    American Home Shield did a good job when I used it. The tech replaced a part that was not working in the washer. He had to order it. It was kind of strange, though, because they called me beforehand, and I gave them pictures and the model number. I sent them all the information and they said that if they had it, they would be able to service it faster. But it didn't work out that way. It took about a week for them to come back out. People call and say they're gonna be here and they're gonna be there, but it'd be nice to be able to view the queue somehow. It'd be nice to know they got the part and would be out this day. You can anticipate what's going on.

    We've used American Home Shield a couple of times and it's been great. The most recent one was when there was a water leak behind the washer hoses. The tech checked everything out, we changed filters, and it's been fine. Everybody that has come out has been really good.
