I like American Home Shield that's why I've been having it for almost 13 years. When I call for a work order, it's simple. They go in and take their $75 payment. I get to talk to the contractor. I wanna talk to the contractor so I know the information is going from me to the contractor, which means that he's getting firsthand information. When I had the guy come in for the refrigerator, I told him exactly what the problem was. He looked at it and said he had to order a part. He came back and within 15 minutes, he was in and out. It was the same thing when we had the problem in the bathroom. I told the guy what the problem was so he had a good idea. He went in there and knocked it out. I also like that I don't have to spend all day waiting. When they say they're gonna be here between this time, they're here.

We wanted new locks on the doors and locks. The Turnkey lock people came out after a couple of days and they did the work in half a day. There were a bunch of doors that had no locking capabilities and they put locks on those. The best part is they made all the locks the same. We have one key to our front door, all of our back doors, and our garage. Everything's been great with the locks and my wife was really happy.

My hot water heater went out and the tech from Bissett Plumbing came out and checked it. He said it was not getting any power so they sent out an electrician and he had to order a part. I've had a couple of other claims. I had an air conditioner that was 22 feet in the air and I couldn't get anybody to replace it so I had to pay for that myself. Then, I had a couple of things with the dryer, but they fixed that. Also, one time, the first guy that called me had a four-hour window and I work so it was not going to work for me. I'm 30 minutes from where I live. I told him he was gonna have to narrow the window down a little bit because I can't miss all day at work just waiting on him to get here. He did and it all worked out.

Everything with American Home Shield has been good so far. My oven was not working. I did the claim online, and then I called the provider and they set up a call right then and then they ordered the part and they came back a week later.

My air conditioning system downstairs had gone out. The techs determined that it was the compressor and that there were a couple of items that I would need to purchase that were not a part of what American Home Shield called compliance items. There was also the Freon. Early August, I called American Home Shield and upgraded my service. I made this service request later. The problem was they could see that my plan had been upgraded to platinum but the rep that put it in didn't do something correctly. I spoke with Stephanie and she said, "Either she didn't save it or she didn't do something right in the system, so it wasn't showing up... She put the dates wrong."
I said, "No, I talked to her. She was very clear, and we were very clear about the contract that upgrade and what I needed to do and it was extended and so forth." I didn't want to be penalized for that. I got off the phone with the understanding that this was done correctly. I took the picture in the portal and she didn't send the contract. Stephanie said she would be making the changes as we spoke.
I was recording the conversation and she told me to go ahead with my claim. I said, "I've got one out there, but the man's confused, because you all are telling him I did not have platinum, and you're telling me that I did." She said to have the service company call American Home Shield. I did that. I didn't hear back. During my conversation with Stephanie, I told her that sending the service company an email does nothing. I said, "I've got the documentation that it was upgraded with the date, you all are telling them something else." Stephanie said "No, no, that's because it hadn't been corrected. But it's corrected now. And when he calls, it will show that you have the platinum."
When I called the tech, American Home Shield still hadn't called and he was a little frustrated himself. I called American Home Shield, and at this point I said, "I'm done. This is ridiculous. No one should have to go through this. If your staff is unfamiliar with the process, then don't put your paying customers through this. It's extremely frustrating. And I'm still in an 85 degree house, and I'm still paying you all. It's very frustrating."
I called back again the day before yesterday, and a gentleman said that the issue was taken care of but the service company would have to call me. I said, "You are the ones that told him one thing, so I feel like you all should let him know." The gentleman said he would send the service company an email to let them know. This was the day before yesterday. I would never ever recommend American Home Shield. I've got platinum service but had the worst customer service experience.

The dryer was not drying so a technician came in and fixed it. He was efficient and in and out in no time. He knew exactly what to do. American Home Shield is there if we need it. We've been paying for a couple years and probably have paid more in than we've gotten out. But I like the reassurance to know that things will be taken care of. They've been prompt. We went online at 1 o'clock AM and the technician was out at 8:00 AM the next morning. They've redeemed themselves. On a previous claim, I've had some difficulty with getting someone on the phone.

There were a few things that I was kind of confused about with American Home Shield. I had some problems with my garage door. I thought they would cover that, and they didn’t. Then I had to pay cash. Other than that, everything that they did fix, the majority of the time, everything’s been fine. When my dishwasher went out and they couldn’t fix it, they just replaced it.

I had a claim with AHS for a new water heater. The tech from Pipe Solutions did an excellent job. Professional. The timing was perfect. He did everything right. I also had another claim put in for my AC. The name of the company was Champs Heating & Cooling. The guy that came out was David. He had to add Freon to my system because my air conditioner wasn't cooling the house properly. He was very professional. He did a good job, too. I'm very satisfied with Champs Heating & Cooling and I'm satisfied with Pipe Solutions.

When it rains, the AC leaks out of the return air event. This is the third time I've called American Home Shield to look at the same thing. They come out to fix it and it would be okay for a couple of times but when it rains, it would start up again. I've had air conditioning people and roofing people out. Nobody can figure out why it was leaking. It's a rental property in Arizona and I'm in Texas so I asked the tech from Above Par Heating to call me. He said that he saw some things up in there that he went up and put some sealant in that he thinks may have been the issue. He seemed like he knew what he was talking about. I talked to the tenants and they said it's not leaking but we'll see over time if they actually got it fixed.
American Home Shield has always been really good. This was the only thing that we've been having. Other than this, they get people out there right away and they get my issues fixed. Whenever I call or go online and put something in, I'm contacted within that day and there's usually a tech within the day after that out to take a look at the problem. Some problems require a little more time, especially these days with the shortages, shipping issues, and trying to find parts and stuff like that, but they've been really good. I'm very happy with American Home Shield.

I've been with AHS for two years now. The first year, I was not pleased with it. I had a lot of trouble with getting through to anybody, through customer service. There were a lot of discrepancies between my policy and my payments. It took me almost five months before I was able to rectify that issue. Since then that I've been able to rectify, it's been a better relationship.
But AHS definitely could use improvement with the customer service component of it. You speak to one representative, and then if they have to get back to you, they're slow in responding. The second thing is that if you call about an issue, either the people are not taking notes or it doesn't seem to reflect on your account. So, when a customer calls in, there is a repeat of the same information several times. Also, there's no real consistency in regard to their packages. I had to have a water heater replaced. That was one of the issues that I had a problem with. But most recently, my microwave claim went smoothly with not a lot of complications.

My washer was leaking and I need a part replaced on my boiler. It turned out that a pipe was rusted and it needs to be replaced. But when the individual came to check it out, he said that our expansion tank was bad and leaking, and it caused the rust of the part that we need to replace. The expansion tank was covered by the warranty but because the rusted pipe was secondary to the expansion tank, it wasn't covered and the tech said the charge was going to be $652. It was a $60 part and to have it replaced would be $652? That was extremely high.
We had the people who installed the washer, Boomer, come out and they were only going to charge us $300 for that. Had we not already had Boomer come out to know what they were trying to charge us, somebody somewhere would have thought that $652 a normal price to pay and it was not. 300 was even too high for what needs to be replaced and it's almost double what the company that American Home Shield sent out said. So, we'll have to find somebody else to replace that part.

I've used my American Home Shield policy three times. And this was the first time they did what I asked them to do. In my bathroom, I had a light fixture over the primary mirror, in the primary bedroom. I called because the box was pulling away from the wall. I have a buddy of mine who did a lot of carpentry DIY stuff. He said, “You need an electrician to fix this ‘cause of all the wires.” That was the issue. It was pulling off of the wall and just needed the techs to come fix it. They were kind, transparent, and worked quickly.
AHS claims to be very specific in what is covered versus not covered in the two times I had used them previously. I have them for a catastrophic failure. I had a plumbing issue. It was a valve flow meter and they couldn't fix it under AHS. They told me they would. But they said, after conversation, that they wouldn't be able to cover it. So, I had to spend more than an annual policy to get it fixed. They're super responsive, which I appreciate, but they're bad in about 500.

Every time I came home, water was on the floor. My AC unit would filter out. My claim went very well. Once the tech got here, he knew what the problem was and he put a new pump on and one of those big pipes. He said the unit was stopped up and he had to put a new pipe. He also put a new filter in and sat there and watched the unit do the filter and it worked. He advised me to clean my filters out every six months. He did an excellent job. AHS is very efficient. I'm glad I got them because they are very good.

The garage door wasn't going up and down properly. It would go partially down, it would stop, then it would return up. It wouldn't function properly. It seems as though there was an issue, and so we called for help. I reached out to American Home Shield via the internet. I received an email from them immediately upon us requesting it. Then, I called and made an appointment with them for the company to come out, and they came out in two days. The gentleman worked in the heat and got it rewired. He was a very kind young man. I hope that if I have another problem with the garage door, he'll come back out to fix it.

Originally, I had put in a work order back in May for my AC that was not blowing. American Home Shield sent a company and it took a whole week before they could even come. They said they had replaced the compressor and that they had put in Freon into the system. Not even 30 days later, I had to put in another work order because the AC wasn't working again. That same company came out the next time, and then they said that the compressor fan was broken and all this other stuff. American Home Shield at first denied the claim and tried to say that we sabotaged the system, which didn't make any sense as it's 100 degrees outside. But that's what the original company said when they came.
I told AHS that I needed another opinion so Anytime Cooling came. They did a good job. They were there when they were supposed to and took pictures of everything. They were able to get everything approved for them to fix it. They got the parts ordered. But, only certain stuff is covered by the warranty. As soon as I found out that I had to pay my portion, I paid that part so they could fix the air conditioner. They replaced the compressor area outside, and then they did some upgrades to my furnace too.
Everything is working pretty well but the other day, the fan wasn't blowing. So, I might have to have an electrician come because the problem might be electrical to where the fuse is blowing.

We've had issues with this refrigerator in the last couple of years. And every two or three months, we’ve had to call American Home Shield out, and a contractor would come out, order some parts. He was out in a day. It was on a Friday. And that Monday, AHS sent me an email saying they would buy a new refrigerator, and we had a new refrigerator in two weeks. The last time, the guy was, “I've replaced everything on this refrigerator and it's still doing the same thing.” So, I'm assuming they reached out to AHS, and they sent us an email and replaced the refrigerator, so I’m happy.

A refrigerator couldn't be fixed. American Home Shield replaced that refrigerator but I had to write a letter to them before they could replace the refrigerator. I’ve been with American Home Shield for three years. They are good about sending people out, but some of the people are not vetted. I talked to one, and he told me that they do everything in fixing in the house. I asked, “What are you licensed to do?” He said, “We don't have a license. We just specialize in everything.” I've also noticed that they've had technicians that come out that have no idea of how to fix appliances. I had one guy come out for my dishwasher that was backing up and filling up with water. He broke the track that the dishwasher went on. American Home Shield sent several guys out. Nobody could get it done. After several guys came out, one guy finally came out and he knew exactly what it was. He fixed it right then.
American Home Shield had one guy that was fixing the icemaker in the refrigerator. The company who was doing that closed down. I didn't know they had closed down. I called the line and heard a message saying they were no longer open. I called American Home Shield and they sent another guy out. I said, “All you have to do is replace the icemaker. It’s already determined the icemaker doesn't work.” The guy that they sent out was the guy that broke my dishwasher off the track. When he showed up at the door, I said, “You can leave the part. I’ll pay somebody else to put the part in.” I wouldn't let him mess with a $5,000 refrigerator when he broke my dishwasher.
Recently, the air conditioner drainage was backed up. American Home Shield sent the air conditioner guy out twice. They blew into the things but the blowing was backing up into the bathroom sink so a plumber came out. He couldn't get to the work in a position where the drain wants to do it. He wasn’t of a mind to do the work. American Home Shield sent over another plumber. He looked around and said the line that it was connected to probably has the thing that goes on the roof. A third plumber came out and put something into the bathroom sink. That cleared that drain for about a week. He said that somebody probably needed to get on the roof where they have those things on the roof and run something down the line. But American Home Shield doesn't allow them to get on roofs, so I ended up calling and paying $314 for somebody to come in and do what they weren't allowed to do.

There was a time when I was going to cancel and AHS put me through their retention department. They were going to put a $200 credit on my account so I agreed to keep my account. I ended up having to do a service call so I used one of those credits that I was given. When I did the call, they confirmed that they saw the $200 credit on my account and that I would be able to use it for the service call. Then they sent the guy out and he fixed everything. But then I got a bill for $100 saying that I never paid for the service. So I called about it and the guy assured me that it was a mistake, that he saw that I had the credits, that I shouldn't have been billed, and that he was taking care of it. But I haven't had a chance to call back and see if it was really taken care of.
Also, the thing that frustrates me overall is that there are all these different loopholes of what you have to pay out of pocket, so for the most part, I go back and forth between thinking if the warranty is really worth it. I also have my frustrations with trying to get an itemized list from anybody so that I can compare whether I feel like it's been worth it or not, based on what my home warranty had to pay out of pocket versus what I've had to pay out of pocket. The only reason I even stayed this last time was because they were giving me that $200 credit, so I wouldn't have to pay the service fee for two more times at least. All in all, I've had my good experiences and my bad experiences, but it seems like most of my good experiences have just been them trying to make up for the bad experience that they’ve caused.

When Tri City came out, they fixed the problem and then caused another problem, but they came back out and fixed that problem. The claim was for my dryer. The belt had broke on there, but nothing was wrong with the heating. When he came and fixed the belt, the dryer wouldn't heat anymore. So, they had to come back out. I had to call for them to come back out and he put a whole new heating fan. He was nice. He was good. He was very professional. As far as American Home Shield, they were professional. They sent someone out. It wasn't like, "Oh, you got to pay this. You got to do that." I was satisfied.

I had a water line leaking on my refrigerator and the techs had to come out three times. Sometimes it takes American Home Shield a while to get a person out here. Other than that, my experience was good.

When I talked to the representatives about the AC claim, I said it would be best for us to pay more money to replace the entire system including the AC and a heat furnace and they said they can give me some cash-out which I can use for the system. But later on, they didn’t give me that because the technician claimed that the repair was complete. They did a coil change but the AC still wasn’t working. We ended up paying for the whole thing ourselves to install the furnace and AC. Other than that, I like AHS, though.

American Home Shield has a quick response time. I've used it once or twice, only for the dishwasher. We had a problem with it and the guy came out and wasn't able to repair it and they ordered a new one. They called me the day before, told me they were going to deliver it the next day and called me 30 minutes before they would show up. They came to deliver it two days ago and it was missing a piece. They said they would send it back and get a different one. So, I'm still waiting on to get the new one put in.

If I have a problem, I call American Home Shield. And if they can't fix it, they will replace it. That sounded good to me. I don't want to spend a lot of time on appliances. So, cut out all the middle people. Recently, the garbage disposal wasn't grinding. When you hit the switch, the motor wouldn't even come on. I called AHS, told them my problem and they found me somebody. I was getting ready to go on vacation and the first people that AHS hooked me up with would come during the time that I was on vacation. So, I called back and they were able to get me someone sooner, which was wonderful, and they handled the matter right away.
It was a young lady. I was impressed that they sent me a woman because you usually think of plumbers as men. And she was very professional. She explained the process and what she would do as she was doing it. She ordered another part, which she went and got right away. So, it was wonderful. The whole experience was less dramatic as it would have been normally. It's worth getting the plan because you won't have to worry about your appliances.

When we had a plumbing issue, the contractor who came had to come back. They didn't have a part. We've had American Home Shield for nine years, and we've had previous repairs. When they cover it and send a good service provider, it’s cost-effective if it’s an expensive repair. However, we have had problems when they tried to get out of covering something that should have been covered. I spent a lot of time on the phone getting it resolved. They ultimately agreed to cover it but it was frustrating and hard to get through to people and to have consistent communications. One person would tell you one thing then one person would tell you another thing. We have stayed on with American Home Shield because we ultimately have been able to resolve the issues, even though it took more effort than I would have liked on my part to get it done.
American Home Shield gotten better over the years. There have been at least one service provider who I thought was awful, was out for their copay, and had no interest in serving people. I asked American Home Shield not to send them to me again. Most recently, they were able to fulfill that request. An opportunity to review providers would be a benefit to the customer because some of the providers are not in it for the right reasons.

Our AC was running more than it had in the past and our bill had more than doubled. The techs checked everything and said our Freon was actually good. The tech did a great job and he was very professional. The office was texting me as the job went on. The tech and the office checked back with us a week after. AHS is a good company and we've had a good experience.

When we went to check our AC unit in the attic area, it looked like it was stopped up and sludgy in the drain pan. So, I had to call AHS and I talked to a representative who put the claim in for me. She was helpful and I didn't think she really knew how to describe the problem, so she just put down leaking. The techs who came out were helpful as well. They unclogged the unit and made sure that it was working. But because of all the sludge that was sitting in the pan, it rusted and they recommended to change it. They wrote to American Home Shield which sent over a thing saying I had to pay 965. Then they ordered the part. American Home Shield said that the drain pan getting rusty didn't happen in the 20-something days that we were allowed, so therefore, it was a preexisting thing.

Our AC was not functioning and we put a request in. It took like a month or so for technicians to come out and that was not the best part of things. We needed the AC because of the heat waves. Part of the process was me putting pressure on them. Apparently, they were managing some internal stuff. Another reason for the delay was because we had to travel. When the techs came, they did a diagnostics of what was going on. Basically, the AC was too old and they advised us to replace it. They helped out in the whole process and they were very good overall.
We've had American Home Shield for almost three years. What we like about it is that interface-wise, it's super simple and the claim people will come in and help out. In most cases, they solve the problems. I have two properties with them, one in Cambridge and another one in Vermont. That has been a pain. I filed a couple of claims and they haven't been able to solve it. There are not many providers up there that will help out in the coverage. I had to go through a different way to solve the issues. That aside, everything has worked out on this property. I recommended American Home Shield to a couple of friends.

The guy from Gibson Air came out and once he checked the AC, he left and said, “Everything's fine. If you have any more problems, give us a call.” Nothing was fine though. Either he kept the fan on the unit outside off or it wasn't working, because it wasn't getting cooler in the house. It was nighttime, ‘cause we were the last people he saw, and we had no recourse until the next day. We called Gibson Air the next day and said, “Hey, look, the guy left. The house is hot.” “Oh, well, you probably need a compressor.” We said, “Okay. So, are you guys gonna order it or what?” “Oh, he probably ordered it.” “Okay. How long is this gonna take?” “Five days.” We called our homeowners insurance to see if somebody was gonna help cover our expenses, because we can't live here. They didn't cover it. American Home Shield didn't either. We figured, “Okay, they said it’ll be a week. We'll get a hotel room for a week.”
My wife, my dog and I ended up being in a hotel for two weeks. After $1,000 on that, we couldn't afford it anymore, so we camped in our garage, trying to manage. Finally, the guy came out, put the part in and said, “It's working fine, but it won't stay on. We'll need an electrician to come out.” So, we had to pay another $100 for an electrician to come out and say, “Oh, it was just a loose wire.” He tightened up the wire, and the thing worked.
The technicians that have been sent out were cordial, but they were not informative. We didn't get good information from the first guy at all. He could have told us when he left, “The condenser is bad, and we're gonna have to order a new one.” We had to call Gibson Air back and they didn't reassure us on anything too. We were constantly calling them to find out what was going on, and they were telling us, “Oh, we haven't heard from them yet.” “Oh, we're not sure.” “Another week.” It ended up being three weeks. We also had to call American Home Shield, ‘cause they didn't call us either, and found out from them what was going on with the part. Because then we found out that they ordered the part, and it was not expedited.
We were hot, and the lady from some foreign country said, “I wish I could help you. Hahaha.” I don't need that, and I don't see the hahaha. I’m totally dissatisfied, and I would never recommend American Home Shield to anyone ‘cause we're not getting any resolution. I'm still wondering who's gonna help us here, ‘cause we've got an old AC unit. This is the seventh time we've had somebody out for this AC unit. We've been displaced many times, and it's getting ridiculous. Are they gonna resolve the problem? Get a new one? What are they gonna do? This is not fair for us to have to shell out thousands of dollars to stay someplace because they can't get the parts in. It's over 110 degrees out here daily and we have to try to live in that.

We put the claim in to American Home Shield for the garbage disposal and about 15 minutes later, we got a call. The contractor asked us if they could come that same day. We were home, so we said yes and they came about three hours after that. They looked at the garbage disposal and tried to fix it but they couldn't. So, they immediately replaced it, cleaned up after themselves, showed us how it worked, made sure we were happy with it, took the old one and thanked us, and left. They were very pleasant and it was a great experience. It was all fixed and done in six hours all together.
The repair guy was very nice, polite, cleaned up after himself, and respectful to me and my home and my husband. It was a very easy process going through the computer and then him contacting us and getting it all squared away and done. Everything was great and I would highly recommend AHS. The only negative thing was that they have our name spelled incorrectly on the website.

I wish I could give this company 0 stars - they are not even worth the 1 star. I purchased a home warranty through American Home Shield in May 2022. I placed my first and only request with them in early July - it is now August and I am awaiting them to fix the problem for over 7 weeks now. They have THE WORST customer service I have ever experienced. The customer service representatives have a strong accent and are difficult to communicate with. They have long wait times to reach someone and never have a manager available. All they do each and every time that I call is tell me that a technician has been requested and will be in touch with me.
Yet the technician never calls me to schedule an appt. Instead, they either sit on it and cancel or cancel right away without notifying me. So I have to go through the process of calling them all over again to ask on the status of the request, since no one has called me, as promised - only for them to inform me that it has been canceled because they do not service the needs of my request.
Why on Earth would they assign a technician that cannot fulfill the request!? Why do they not inform me that it has been canceled? Why is it not reassigned without me having to call again asking them to fulfill what I was charged for? They charge me $100 per request, in addition to a monthly premium, only to never fulfill the request. It's maddening!
So then this arduous process has been repeated all over, from the beginning, almost on a daily basis for 7 weeks in a row - all this for just ONE service request. Then they tell me that a technician has been assigned and will be in touch. They never are and the customer service representatives do not understand my request. Or tell me that it has been assigned to a technician that a previous customer service representative informed me was canceled - which is it?!
So essentially this company gets away with charging for service and then not delivering any ANY service, apart from lip service. I do not see how this is even legal. After calling multiple times and waiting over a week for a manager to get in touch with me, the manager I spoke with informed me that they are not responsible for any delays in service nor are they willing to refund me for the service I am paying for and not receiving. Bottom line: THIS COMPANY IS THE WORST! I STRONGLY RECOMMEND NOT PURCHASING.

The air conditioner wasn't cooling. Absolute Refrigeration came out and inspected the unit, but they just recommended that I put a new unit because, I guess, the type of adapter that these older units have has gone out of place. So I just got one new air conditioner for now, and I'm waiting to get the other one.

The technician was very knowledgeable and professional from what my tenants told me. Really fast, knew what he was doing, and was able to fix the garage door in a single day rather than replacing any parts. We never had any issues since then.
Communication has always been very fast with AHS. Every time there's an emergency, I always get less than 24-hour response that a technician has been assigned. And they always contract out some good contractors depending upon the repair, and I really like that. I just renewed my contract.

American Home Shield’s phone service is awful because you don't get anybody. And when you get somebody, it's outsourced customer service and they don't do well. They don't understand when the customer is not being taken care of. I had claims for the dishwasher and the toilet and the experience was awful too. But the experience with the technician from Prolectric Electrical was good. He came out, got the part and then came back and put it on, and he was done.

When everything is smooth, the website is good but when there is a problem, it doesn’t give you what is the problem. It gets stuck saying, “You can’t submit the claim,” kind of thing. I have to call the phone number and raise the ticket but calling is very different. You’re confined to particular hours of the day, which makes it more inconvenient to raise a ticket when the website has a problem.
Also, 60% of the time, the contractors are good but 40% of the time, there are problems of various kinds. One guy gave an appointment at 9 o'clock but he showed up at 8:30. He asked me to let him in and he picked up a fight. That's really ridiculous. I was so busy dropping the kids and my work. At 9 o’clock, he started complaining about all kinds of weird things.
The second one was the AC unit repair. I had to pay the full price and I was trying to ask what was the reason. The third scenario was a contractor came and said that they couldn't do anything about the problem I reported and I have to go and talk to AHS. When I talked to them, they keep sending the same guy. After the third attempt, I told them to not send the same guy. A lady who came from the insurance side helped me to resolve the conflict between the insurance guy and the contractor. Also, I had to go through the loops of trying to talk with them. When I go to the website, it says that the case is closed and there was no pending case but the problem was not fixed. Finally, the contractor came and fixed it.

The last experience I had with American Home Shield was horrible. I put a claim in because I heard my outside condenser motor go out. My unit is 19 years old. American Home Shield sent a contractor out and they tried to get me for a brand-new unit condenser when the unit didn't need it. They wanted to charge me over two grand for the upgrades. I ended up buying a motor myself and putting that in. My unit has been working fine ever since. I'm getting ready to cancel American Home Shield. In the past, I paid the $75 as far as the upfront fee and my ice maker is still messing up. I've done that three times. I also had problems with the hot water heater and I ended up shelling out $700.

American Home Shield was a surprise to us from our son and so far, it's been great. A contractor came out for a heating repair and they seemed to be very nice. They had to order parts then they came out and fixed it. However, it was a faulty part that they got. They said it wouldn't be able to be repaired again until the end of this week. I just got a phone call this morning and they said they will be out. The part came in and they will fix it tomorrow. They were upset that the one that they put in didn't work, but they're seeming on top of getting it fixed. The coordination was great.

I moved back to my house and I called American Home Shield a couple of times because I had some issues. Technicians came out and took care of things. They were good. All of them were very reasonable and gave me information as to what happened and what was wrong. I was satisfied. The only problem I have is that each year, American Home Shield raises the price. I started off paying 59 and now, I'm paying 79.
That aside, I have told people that I have this plan with American Home Shield. Generally, they couldn't replace everything. When my air conditioner went out, I had technicians come out to check it. It was some coils. They had to call and make sure what American Home Shield was gonna cover. They then had to do the outside and they had to do the whole thing. The whole process took four days. Another claim I had was for my sump pump. I had technicians come out and they couldn't fix it so they replaced it. That was a good thing.

My experience with American Home Shield has been good the majority of the time. But sometimes, it's frustrating. I was having some issues with my AC unit and having to deal with the folks overseas can be a challenge in trying to get to somebody that can take care of the situation better. When I need to speak to somebody that can handle something, I would like customer service to get me to them instead of going by the script. That was pretty irritating. But stick to your guns and they will somewhat do what you ask of them. Other than that, American Home Shield has taken care of me through everything I need. The AC issues got resolved.

When I'm in a bind and I don't have a washer, it's difficult that AHS will get back to me in 48 hours. But it ended up working out. The techs came a week and a half later. The contractor said that they're going to put in a request that it's not repairable. That was on a Friday and I had to wait 'til Monday to get some news. That Thursday, I was able to go purchase the new washer.

A tech came for a service request we made and he had been there before. He was always very good. I had another claim that I was not happy about. We have a Jacuzzi that has a heater on it. The pool man told me that on this particular model, some of the pipes inside are iron and they're rusty. American Home Shield sent the same person out twice and I’m not particularly fond of him. He said it was a little bit dirty when he looked at the pool heater. A year or two later, I called because the issue was getting worse. The pool man thought he could change the pipes. But the tech that American Home Shield sent said the issue had nothing to do with the rusty pipes.

The service of AHS has been very mediocre. I wouldn't do it again. The vendors don't want to work for them. You get crappy service. I tried to get an electrician to come out. It took me a long time. The only thing that was good was I had a guy that came and changed my locks. He was great. The other claim I had was when I needed a refrigerator that was broken to be serviced. The house has a gazebo and it was in the gazebo. I told the person who was booking it that I had a gazebo. The guy came out and then he found the compressor was broken. It turned out that it didn't come under the warranty because it was not in the main house. So I never got it fixed. They refunded my 100 and whatever dollars that I paid for the guy to come out. I was grateful for that. But the woman I spoke to wasn't from this country. She didn't know what the word gazebo meant, apparently.
AHS is not totally bad. It's just that when I did the dollars and cents, it didn't make sense for me to renew it. I almost did, but then I thought I'm paying the additional 100 bucks. The good part of it was that American Home Shield was responsive. It's just that the vendors were like, “Yeah, we'll come out.” I felt like I didn't have a high priority. I had to track down the electrician. It wasn't until I told the electrician that I might have another gig for them, which was to put in a hot tub, and do it on a 220 line, then they came out. They didn't really want to address the warranty issues. They weren't taking the American Home Shield part of it seriously.

The techs that came were professional and on time. They communicated well and they let us know what our options were as well as what they would do. Everything was fine. The only thing was the vendor submitted the claim and American Home Shield said they didn't get it. We had to resubmit it a few days late.

The day before we called, the AC stopped cooling. The gentleman who came in was very professional and did what he needed to do. He found what was wrong very quickly and took care of it. He made a recommendation that we needed to think of a new AC unit at some point soon. The units that we have in the home are not very efficient and they are not cooling the house properly. My wife was very happy with the service. American Home Shield is well worth it.

A week prior to Fix-It Now showing up, the condenser unit just stopped turning on. So, we weren't getting cold air. The guy who showed up replaced the contactor inside the unit, and then now it's working. I went online to do the claim to American Home Shield. I didn't find it difficult at all. I got an email saying that my service ticket was waiting to be issued. The next day, it said, “Issued to the contractor.” The guy troubleshot it and he found the problem right away. He had the part in his van, so he got that fixed right away as well.

I had a claim for the AC and it was simple submitting the claim online to American Home Shield. Then, I had another claim for my garage door, which was a complete rip-off. Garage door warranty says the spring was covered, and then the track assembly is not. So what all is entailed in a track assembly? The rollers or just the track itself? I got charged $124 for it plus $75 service call fee.

My air conditioner needed maintenance. It was my understanding when I set up the appointment that they do maintenance. My unit is underneath the porch and there were a lot of twigs and stuff that had been blown into it by yard people. But that's not a service that's normally really provided. Other than that, the tech was really nice and sweet. He cleaned up and the AC looks better. Depending on the age of your home, it matters to have AHS.

Our toilet gasket was broken and then we had two slow draining sinks and they were fixed the same day. I did my claim to American Home Shield by internet. It was pretty fair. It was much easier than having to wait on hold or having to speak to somebody especially if you're busy and on the go.

I haven't been happy with American Home Shield recently. I had a plumbing claim. One of the plumbers came out. He told me what was wrong. Then he was supposed to call me back, and it's been a week. So, I ended up having to call American Home Shield back. Before it even was taken care of and it's been like a week and my issue still hasn't been fixed, I feel like the price is a little bit too expensive. AHS should improve on their vendors. They should also improve on their customer service and the language barriers of the customer service personnel that they have working for them.

We filed claims for a hot water tank, a refrigerator, and a dryer. The refrigerator is being replaced, the dryer was fixed, and the hot water tank was replaced. The process went pretty well with AHS and so far, I haven't had any problems.

Our heat pump started not putting air out. We was able to get the claim straight and got everything heading in the right direction with the rep. The tech told me it had a leak in the coil and they replaced it.

American Home Shield has sent Professional Plumbing here a few times, and they've done a good job. They put in a garbage disposal quite a while ago and a kitchen faucet. I'd rather have them than anybody I've ever had here. I’m very happy with them. They had to go check the lines underneath the sink. The Sears guys thought the line was plugged that was why the dishwasher wasn't draining. Professional Plumbing took off all the hoses and made sure that there was no blockage anywhere. Nothing was plugged.
The first service guy with Sears could have went in and dug into the bottom to see what was wrong but he didn’t do that. He left it as being plugged so the next guy tore into it. They ordered six parts. I finally got the parts, and Sears wanted me to know how many parts. I tore into it and counted them up. All of it was there. They were supposed to have been here today. But they called me yesterday afternoon and said that they couldn’t make it because something came up. It’s been over a month for that. It sucks. Now, they said they’re gonna come on the 19th. I don’t think the first guy wanted to dig into that part because it was a lot of work.
The service has been terrible. Sears needed to completely check everything when they came, but they didn’t go into where the water is pumped out of the bottom. There was water standing in there for a couple of weeks because they didn’t do anything about getting the water out. The next guy came, got all the water out, took the bottom out, and ordered a bunch of parts. I don't understand why it takes so long to fix the dishwasher. American Home Shield should have just replaced it if it's that much messed up on it. It seems a waste of time for us to be without something for over a month. I can’t believe they can't find somebody to take that guy's place. American Home Shield is good most of the time but I get disgusted when people don’t follow through and get things done.

I have multiple properties and with a home warranty, it’s a benefit not to have to line up service for everybody. I can just make one phone call and then AHS gets the service provided. The claim submission process is pretty straightforward but I had a billing issue where I was speaking to someone from another country and they weren’t understanding what I was saying. That was a little frustrating.

I was frustrated when my AC first went out. I had put in for the upgraded package so that my AC unit could get serviced and this was before my AC had gone out. But I was like, “Oh, it's kind of making weird noises. Maybe I need just a tune-up or whatever.” So I purchased the upgraded package that had a free tune-up in it, put in for that, and they never assigned me anybody.
So when I called back and I spoke with a woman, she told me that the program was no longer happening and that I had to pay the $100 to have my AC fixed even though I had put in before the program had ended or the promotion had ended. I kept asking if I could speak to someone and she told me that she was the only one that could help me. But she was not helping me so I was very frustrated. But I knew my AC needed a tune-up so I ended up paying the $100 and having somebody come out.
Recently, my AC unit was acting up. The tech tried to just do Freon and it didn't work. So they tried again. The tech said, “You're going to need a whole new unit.” So he did everything and it was really easy. Aside from a slight hiccup when my AC unit first went out, AHS was quick to respond and push everything through. So I was happy with that part of it. The tech stayed in touch and let us know where we were with the AC unit getting delivered. He was fantastic.

There wouldn't be any cold air blowing out when I turn the thermostat on and the gentleman from Myers did a good job. He did a claim on the upstairs unit last year so I was familiar and comfortable with him. There were a couple of blown fuses and there were a couple of parts that he had to put in there. He also put a new thermostat in because the thermostat was reading faulty as well. It was a good experience. The only thing I dislike with AHS at the moment is I would like to just make a one-time payment and not be billed monthly for a service contract. Also, when I make a claim, I know it's $75 but some of the other competitors that I've looked at are a little bit cheaper. Outside of those, I haven't had any issues and they've been able to remedy the issues each time.

Our unit was leaking water. After making a claim to American Home Shield, I received the name and phone number of the contractor. I then received a text the next day from the contractor. A gentleman came and he was very nice. He fixed the unit. To prevent it from leaking water, he opened up the line. He also said the unit was low on Freon and he added a pound. He left and another problem arose. I turned on the unit and it wasn’t really blowing any cold air. I told the gentleman that but he said he will reset the unit and it should work, but it never did. I’m still waiting for him to get back to me. He says he needed a part. I just checked with him yesterday and he had no update for me. I’ve been a week already without an AC.

The repair person for our refrigerator came and then put on a new plate to control the water and ice. But the plate he put on there for the push buttons is a different color than the refrigerator and it bowed out. So it doesn't match nor does it look good. I wasn't there when they came out but my wife was there. They told her they didn't have another one. When he put it in, he said, "That's the way it goes." You can look down through the back of it. It shouldn't be sticking out like that. But everything else we've dealt with American Home Shield has been fine.

The repairman had to order some parts so it took a little longer 'cause the parts had to be shipped to us then they had to do a second visit. But American Home Shield is worth the money. They have top of the line people. I would recommend them to anyone. The only thing I don't like is that it takes a while to get technicians out here. Once you submit the claim, it takes a couple of weeks or sometimes a month to get someone out. If I had an urgent problem, it would suck. But aside from that wait, they're honest and professional people.

I would recommend American Home Shield. They are reliable. Any time I have a claim, it's taken care of. When there was a water heater issue, it messed up something in the bathtub area. A contractor came and fixed it. They were able to assist me.

Our air conditioner wasn't cooling our house. It would run all day and it still wasn't cooling the house. I called American Home Shield to make the claim and Ramsey Air came out. The tech took a look at it and checked it. He said the compressor was going out and he needed to replace it. He came back out after he ordered the part and now everything's fine. I would recommend American Home Shield. The only thing that I didn't like was when I first signed up, they said if I was referred by a friend or if I refer a friend, then we'd both get an Amazon gift card but we never got our Amazon gift cards. We called and tried, but we never did. Otherwise, the service was great.

I've tried to use American Home Shield twice. The first time was for the AC because it wasn't keeping up in the summer. A guy came out, spent 10 minutes, and said, “Have a nice day.” I got charged 100 bucks. American Home Shield said he's not gonna do anything because the AC was dirty and there was a wire that was showing. Everything was still running. I called someone else out there. They came, cleaned the unit, and fixed the wire. I spent 250 bucks and it's been great ever since. That was my first not-happy moment.
My second not-happy moment is still in the process. The refrigerator, the icemaker and the water from the fridge stopped working. I replaced the filter but that didn’t do anything. Techs came out and they were great guys and very helpful. The first time they came out, they saw what was going on and they said they would have to order some parts. A week later, they came back, replaced the icemaker mechanism, and replaced the hose for the water. That worked great. But the pressure wasn't there and I figured it was just a filter issue so I bought another filter. The pressure was back and it worked great that day. The next day, I woke up and the refrigerator was not working again. This happened over the holiday weekend.
The guy came back out Tuesday and said that the line was frozen and that they were gonna have to order a new door. He added that my communication will be through American Home Shield from that point on. That was fine. I received an email and American Home Shield offered me $342 for a fridge. I asked, “Is this $342 and I get my $100 refund? ‘Cause I’ve already been charged $100 for this visit, right? Or is it $342 and I still get charged $100, so really, it’s $242?” They said I was not gonna get the $100 refunded. Essentially, what they said was, “Your choices are we can give you $342 or you can wait for the door. And the door is gonna take up to 25 weeks.” We had a couple of emails back and forth.
Finally, a rep called me either yesterday or the day before, and her stance wasn't any different. I said, “Fine. Order me a new door. Get the stupid thing fixed. If I have to sit here and wait for six months, then so be it.” I asked her what was gonna happen in six months when this thing was not fixed. She had a hard time explaining that to me. In my mind, it's time for a new fridge if you're gonna make me wait more than three months for a part. $342 isn't gonna buy me a fridge anywhere close to what this one is. I've already checked the prices. It's gonna be at least 1,200 bucks and that is the entry line. Those aren't even in stock right now. If I really wanted something now, it's gonna be more like $1,500 or $1,600. Once this fridge gets fixed, I'll be canceling American Home Shield.
Another thing is my dryer has been causing me problems for the past two months. I'm contemplating about not wasting my time calling American Home Shield because who knows what's gonna happen. Technicians are gonna show up and come up with some fine print ** that says, “Oh, because of blah, blah, blah and the fine print, we're not gonna do anything, but we're still gonna charge you the 100 bucks. Have a nice day.”

My AC wasn't working and the guy came and looked at it. He said I'm supposed to clean the coil every year and that it's my responsibility. The tech called AHS back and AHS called me and told me they don't cover maintenance. I asked the technician how much it will cost to clean the coils and I ended up paying $400 to get that done. Then, I called to speak to AHS's rep to find out why my premium went from $59 to $75.99. I told them I find that was really excessive. I don't mind if they want to raise a $10 raise but about a $20 increase is a big swing. Also, every time I call, I have to pay a $100 deductible. But AHS dedicates a rep right away - somebody will give you a call and they will come and find out what the problem is and fix it. In the past, they fixed my washer and my fridge. Whatever the cause is, if it's fixable, they got it fixed.

My refrigerator wasn't making any ice. Repair people came out and they did a good job of assessing the situation and thought that the unit was repaired. It began making ice but what we failed to realize was that the refrigerator really wasn't cooling properly overall. We went on a vacation and came back. We noticed that while it was making ice, certain things weren't freezing properly. I called in to report that issue. American Home Shield set up a claim and it had to be a separate claim causing me to have to pay an additional fee. It then became problematic because they wanted me to get my smartphone and do a video, which I didn't want to do because it made no sense. The people have been out and they already knew. That was just pushing my buttons and I was having no part of that. That aside, I have no issue with the repair people. They've been nice and accommodating.
This claim experience has been weird. I almost would like to separate it because the experience with the repair people was stellar. But with the people over the phone, not so much. They need maybe some more sensitivity training with respect to people who are having issues. While on the phone, the young lady was asking if I looked at my contract and I'm like, “I don't need to look at my contract. What are you talking about?”

I had claims for my dryer and refrigerator. The timer knob on the dryer was replaced but the refrigerator is still not repaired. The first time the contractor came out, they didn't have the part so they ordered it. They came out a second time and put that part on but there's something else going on with the refrigerator now so they had to order another part. The part has been delayed. Other than that, the techs are nice, respectable, and professional.

I got ahold of American Home Shield and told them what was going on with my washer. They had me do a face-to-face conference with them. They listened to the dryer and it was obvious that there were issues. They then had the contractor in touch with us. They let me know who was going to be contacted, which was Bay to Bay. That company also reached out. We got a phone call from the tech and a text when they were close. They stayed in contact very well. For one charge, my washer was fixed within five or six days. The great thing about having American Home Shield is getting someone to come out quickly for service.

I have American Home Shield for three months now. They've been good. I already had a problem with my oven. But it was fixed. It was mostly the operators. It’s the same thing with the dishwasher. It had a switch like a light switch. We didn't know that. So, we spent too much money on just getting it troubleshooted. We paid 75 for them to check it. And everything else is theirs. That was it. They were quick. But I don't know why the contractor is called Air Kool. It sounds like an air conditioner. I had to ask them three times. Also, the customer service is from the Philippines or Mexico. It's hard to understand. Communication is a big barrier in that. Other than that, AHS was good at it. They get things done. I like the company.

Service people came for my swamp cooler as it needed to be serviced. They called me one day and they came out two days later because they scheduled me and they got it done all in one day. They disconnected the water and some of the parts were just lying there. It needed to be put back together again and made operable so that I could save on my air conditioning bill. They did a great job and I was very pleased.

The AC unit was blowing and coming on but it wasn't cold. YAZD Mechanical came out and fixed it. They were quick and everything was good. We've used American Home Shield before for some of our other houses. I like doing everything online. It's quick and easy. I've never had a service not covered so, that's always nice.

When we had a plumbing issue, the tech that came out was wonderful and courteous. He was masked. He had the booties on. He found that there was an issue that he wasn't really sure about, so he called one of his partners out. Came to find out the partner didn't need to help, but he wanted to be sure. So, he went out and got the parts that we needed, came back, and fixed it. We haven't had any issues since.

We got American Home Shield because about two years ago, my water heater went out and that cost over $1,000 to replace. We figured we'd do it with one of these extended home warranties, and if something else goes to crap, it'd be covered. American Home Shield worked for the air conditioner unit. I used their website and it seemed easy enough. It asked me what the problem was and to describe it. A day or two later, a guy called and set up an appointment. He came and told me that the drip pan for the AC unit was too small and its drain pipe had become clogged. It overflowed and flooded the attic. It drained through and ruined some of the sheetrock. He had to get a new drip pan that fit, connected it and cleared out the pipe. He also said he had to put some new insulation on some of the ductwork because it had gotten wet.

When the AC broke down, a contractor came out and fixed it. But even though they fixed the AC, it took a month and several phone calls on my part to get them to do something. They ordered a part. It took two weeks to get there. Houston is hot. I came down there one week and had to stay in the hotel. I couldn't stay in my own house.

When I called American Home Shield about my issue the first time, they said that they couldn't find a leak. It was with the dishwasher. The man who came said that it was not leaking and it was coming from the pipe. I called back again, and they sent this other guy out and he said he couldn't find a leak but when you put your hand under there, there is a leak. It's a very slow leak. I got a pan under there, and it's collecting the water. Now, they're saying there's nothing wrong with it. So, I'm not going to call about it anymore. I wasted $200, and it's still leaking. I have not discontinued American Home Shield, and I probably won't. I'm just not very happy right now.

I’ve had to request service with American Home Shield on this same unit four times. The first time I requested service, it was online. It was easy to follow and I'm fairly technically savvy. You don't have to be to follow their website. The thing was when it was a follow-up request, the website still acted as if it was a new request and wanted me to pay $100. I tried several times and I kept getting to the place where it wouldn't let me go any further without saying I agree to pay $100. Once you pay that first $100 for the same service, it's not supposed to be charged anymore. I had to call American Home Shield. They were very prompt and very helpful and very understanding.
I called the contractor to come out to do a tune-up and they did. I started having problems with one of the units and they came out. That was a new service and I understood that. But once they came out, they changed out one of the parts that was preventing the unit from running. The guy was helpful. But he was a little bit hard to understand. He had a little bit of a thick accent and my ears are not as good as they were when I was younger. That aside, he was very attentive and professional.
The issue was I've had to call them out three times because what seemed like the problem was fixed turned into either another problem or there was more than one problem that wasn't discovered on the first visit. The technicians were helpful but they didn't find out the answer during the first couple of visits. I'm getting a little bit frustrated. I'm having them come out a fourth time to handle the problem where the air conditioner runs. It turns on and off for a while. I can hear it trying to run but the fan won't run and the unit gets really hot. I explained that the last time. When the technicians came out, they told me that everything looked fine. Here it is in the middle of August and it’s stifling here in Georgia. My housekeeper showed up today and it was 79 degrees in our house. I can't turn the thing off.
American Home Shield is always responsive and very timely in responding to any requests, whether it's online or on the phone. I've had other appliances repaired by different companies through the home warranty and the service providers that they send out have been very professional and knowledgeable. The one that I'm dealing with right now with the AC unit is a challenge and would be for any of them.

I've had a good experience. They fixed two bathrooms. They changed something upstairs. The second one downstairs had the toilet flushing automatically. They fixed that but sometimes, it's still flushing automatically.

American Home Shield is well worth the price. They've managed to come through finally. My experience has been that some of the technicians that are sent are less than perfectly experienced and don't make the best decisions. Every now and then they don't reach to a standard, but my standards are high. But the follow-up technicians usually are spot-on and correct the problem. The Lindsay Company did well. We've got a continuing plumbing problem. But it's gonna require reworking all of the sinks in the entire house.

My AC was not cooling and it wasn't doing anything. I called American Home Shield and they were very accommodating. Techs come out and identified what was going on. Their people had to order a part. Once they got the part, they came on out here immediately and it took them 20 minutes to fix the AC. The only thing is on the part between their initial visit and getting the parts and getting them back out to us, we didn't get any feedback. It was two weeks and nobody called to say that part was ordered. We thought maybe they had forgotten about us.
That's not the first time that we had that experience where techs had to get parts and we didn't know what was going on. When I got my refrigerator done, I didn't even know that the part was being sent to my house because nobody told us. There's a disconnect there. Once a person comes up to the house, looks at what has to be done, and orders a part, they need to tell us, “We got your part. This got to come from blah, blah, blah. We'll let you know when the serviceman will come out here to do the repairs.”

The capacitor on my air conditioner went bad and when I submitted the claim, it was kind of automated. At first, it wouldn’t accept my card and then I called back and everything went fine. Then, within an hour or two after I submitted the claim, somebody called me and said nobody could come out that day. They would come out the very next day. It went perfectly fine. Choice Plumbing, Heating & AC came out and the techs were pretty awesome. They fixed everything outside, came in, turned the AC on inside, and went to the exterior walls to make sure that it was blowing out.

The tech from May Heating and Air came out the first time and checked the antifreeze on the AC to make sure that everything was cool and that the Freon was not leaking out. Nothing was working. So, we changed the batteries and then, the AC froze. So, I called back and the contractor came back out. The other guy did the same thing and told me I might need a valve. But the problem was my couch was in front of the vent. The second time, the AC worked fine. The two technicians who were sent out were awesome. I liked the speed of repair with American Home Shield. I didn't have to wait a long time. It's a good company to have and it’s a good insurance to have on your home.

I've been with American Home Shield more than eight years now and their service was way better than now. Recently, I had a garage door problem and didn't want to wait for the claim. I called someone else. They told me that we probably needed a new keyboard for the garage. But since I have the home warranty, I thought why would I go and pay out of my pocket when I could pay American Home Shield 125 then their contractor would come and do it. I did that and a guy came, checked the wires, tied them together and it started working again.
I called three or four times for my dryer and washer. Every time, they needed a new claim and it took forever for their contractor to come. I also called for my water heater during Christmas time. My kids and I stayed almost two weeks without a water heater. We had to go somewhere to have a water heater when all American Home Shield needed to do was to bring a new one and put it. That was a big pain.
I've had some bad experiences and some good experiences but overall, we get the problem fixed. I still tell my friends about American Home Shield. The problem is with the new companies American Home shield is dealing with. But still, the wait is not funny and the prices keep getting higher and higher. It used to be $50 every month and we used to pay $75 every time a contractor comes. From $75 to $125 now, still I’m not getting a good service. I have a problem and after a month, they say “It's been a month. You have to pay a new service fee.” I will pay if I'm calling regarding different items. But it's the same machine. It’s the same issue. Why would I have to pay? It was going to be 31 days instead of the 30 days. But it's not fair to pay only for one day. Before, even if it's three months after, since I called before for that item and the same item didn't work, their contractor used to come for free.

AHS will not honor their agreement with you as a consumer. Even though you have it in writing they come up with very creative ways to try and deny a claim. The vendors they send out to your house don't have your best interest in mind and only serve as a means to try and discredit you and give AHS reasons to deny claims.
I bought a house 3 weeks ago and my inspection reports came back very clean and any items not clean were taken care of prior to me taking ownership. The plumbing was never an item of concern on my inspection. I wanted a home warranty just in case so I would not have to give up too much of my time as I am busy in my career and life and was hoping this home warranty would be a way to buy my time back.
In my case I had a leaking shower valve. In the mailed agreement they sent me per section F.4 Plumbing a faucet, shower head, shower arm, valves for shower, tub and diverter, etc... would be covered and per section C.4a - d I should be covered for normal wear and tear, rust, improper good faith installation, and system installation where components were not properly matched, as well as insufficient maintenance of the covered.
AHS sent out one plumber who didn't even look at the shower valve, but stated the problem was the pex pipes in my house and he only trusted copper pipes. Pex has been approved as building materials in my state and county for some years. Without looking at the shower valve or even helping to turn off the source water at the valve he left and told AHS that the only solution was for them to authorize him to replace the pipes in my entire house to copper... of course AHS denied the claim. This plumber they sent blatantly misrepresented the cause of the leak.
I still thought AHS would help and asked them to send someone for a second opinion. This plumber was equally as bad. This plumber was talking, texting, or shopping on the phone the entire time they were at my home. They had to borrow my tools to perform their inspection, cut a hole in my ceiling they said AHS would take care of, and then said the cause of the leak was bad grout... the grout which is not connected to the shower valve and no water source hooks up to according to this plumber somehow caused the leak. Because grout and caulking is not covered by AHS they denied my claim based on the feedback of the two plumbers they sent that did not have my best interest in mind, but only to give AHS fraudulent information so they could deny my claim.
I did call the manufacturer of my shower valve and they offered to replace the valve for free as they have a wonderful warranty on all their parts and are a very highly rated faucet supply company. That phone call took around 15 minutes. AHS has kept me busy on the phone for house. Please save yourself trouble and avoid this scam company.

My air conditioner wasn't blowing cool. AHS told me that a contractor would call me and they called in about half an hour. They told me when they would be out, and they were out exactly then. The tech had to change the condenser and something else. Everything's working beautifully now. Their service was very good.

My air conditioning upstairs stopped working. The service company was really quick and their guy knew what he was doing. The fuse was too small to support and that was why it blew it out. The guy fixed everything the same day. Everything went well and the unit has been fine ever since. I like American Home Shield.

My microwave, ceiling fans, washer and dryer, and disposal broke. American Home Shield contacted me the minute I filed a report and I've been very happy with their service. The first provider that came out was a plumber and electrician. He couldn't have been more professional or kinder. I've had a plumber I've used for 30 years and I had just renovated my kitchen with this current house. He changed the pipes out, then I had this roaring sound for 30 days. When I described it to the provider, they knew exactly what it was. They described the noise and the repairman came and fixed it instantly. And I was so impressed, after using the same plumber for 30 years that my parents have used, and they missed it and they didn't fix the problem.
A gentleman came out on Sunday morning. My washer broke and my dryer only heats on one cycle. He said it was the age of the appliances and we could either repair it or replace it. He's going to come out and repair both items. I'm a single woman and don't have any help anymore. For me, having American Home Shield is a win-win. I love them. They're amazing. I was a realtor and used to use them. A lot of times, I'd write contracts and people would ask for the warranty with this company. I've told five of my friends about them and everyone is getting the same warranty.

I love American Home Shield. They said a lot of things that they would do and I took them up on it and I didn't have any issues for a while. Not long ago, my oven got locked up and I couldn't get it unlocked. I called them and they got ahold of somebody and set up an appointment and kept me informed when the person was coming and how long it was gonna be. It was great service.

I had some people come out and replace a gasket in the main pool pump. A couple of weeks later, a water feature pump failed and I called them back out but it wasn't covered under warranty. When the tech informed me of that, I went and read my contract closely, and that was what the contract said. I didn't read the fine print in the contract well enough to know that, because it wasn't the main pool pump, so it wasn't covered under warranty. But overall, American Home Shield has been good and they do what they say they're going to do.

A tech from Frog Pro Services came out and told us that the compressor had shorted to the ground on the AC unit. He said it needed to be fully replaced and Frog Pro Services wasn't happy with his decision so they sent out a higher-up technician. He came and said that the Freon was mixed inside the unit. Someone put in different types of Freon and he said that the whole thing needed to be replaced.
My husband went out there about an hour and a half after he left and noticed a hissing sound coming out of the AC unit. The guy had opened up the gauges and left them open for all of the Freon to leak out of the AC unit. They estimated that we would have to pay $1,300 to replace the Freon and we weren't willing to pay that. Also, they wanted to charge us 4,000 for the replacement and that doesn't make sense. They were trying to upcharge us, they lied, and they leaked out all of our Freon to get us to have to purchase through them. It was a really unenjoyable experience and we had to go out on our own and figure it out ourselves.
We didn't like the service provider that American Home Shield chose for us and we would have had to pay more money to get another service provider. We didn't like that. The people that I spoke to were overall nice but the service itself sucked and it really didn't benefit us very much. We didn't get any resolutions from American Home Shield.

Two weeks ago, my air conditioner went out. I called AHS and it took a week for someone to come out. Then, One Source came out and the gentleman was rude. I asked a few questions and he told me that he couldn't do anything. He said it was frozen outside and that I have to cut my air conditioner. They should have told me that before. Then, he said the air conditioner was blowing out hot air so I should have had it off anyway and I didn't like his tone. I was not happy with how he was talking to me. That was last Wednesday.
He was supposed to turn in the diagnosis, which he has yet to do so I have not received any service. I've called American Home Shield three or four different times to ask if it can be switched to someone else. I shouldn't have to wait for almost a week. I was not that happy with that. AHS told me that what they do is give the company 48 hours, which would have been last Friday. I shouldn't have to sit in the heat for two weeks and a week of it is on the warranty company because they didn't send anybody else out here.
When I told AHS that I did not even want that company coming back to my house, she told me I didn't have a choice. One Source had to come back or I will be charged more money for someone else to come. I was not comfortable with that but if that's how they do things, then I don't have a choice. I said I did not want that same technician and she said they won't have the same technician.
If they are outsourcing this work to these different companies and giving them 48 hours, I don't think the customer should have to pay if they do not adhere to it in 48 hours. I shouldn't have to wait for another five days. At that point, AHS should be speaking with that company. I'm waiting for someone to call and since it's the same company and we have already bumped heads, then I'm not comfortable with them coming back to my house. However, I did have a service technician come for my dryer and the washer who was very professional and phenomenal.

I love American Home Shield. But I had one bad experience with a roofer who told them that he couldn't reach me. But I got the problem fixed without having to use anybody and AHS reimbursed me my $100.

For my refrigerator claim with AHS, the waterline was hooked up. The repairman came out and tried. He said, “I just gotta have this fan and I don't know if they can get it.” But they couldn't. So he helped me with what to do for the refrigerator that was brought in because it ruined my floor. He was very knowledgeable and great. Explained everything and picked up his trash. My AC went out as well and they got that fixed, too.

The outlet for my refrigerator freezer and the freezer I have out in the garage quit working. I also have a gas fireplace upstairs where the switch was not working. In one of the switches in the garage, the tech had to replace a GFI outlet that was exclusive to a freezer. He knew his stuff like the back of his hand and was able to identify and isolate the issue.
With American Home Shield, I do have one problem. That was when I called in a thing and I paid my deductible twice because I had the electric guy come out to fix something and then I also had the appliance guy come out to fix my washer and dryer. He was able to fix the dryer, but with the washer, he said, “This thing is just shot.” Otherwise, the home warranty has always been excellent.

My freezer door wasn't closing very well and water was leaking. A technician came out quickly and he was nice. He removed the old items and cleaned up because water was stuck. He also ordered some parts. He replaced the door adjuster and after that, it was okay. When I have some emergency situation, American Home Shield sends a technician to me instead of me looking for one. That's convenient.

We’ve had AHS since we bought the house over 11 years ago and I love them. Making a call and submitting a claim works great for me because I can explain everything in my own words, write it down, and have a record of it. For my recent claim, they had to replace the compressor on our air conditioner. It took about three hours from start to finish. It's working perfectly now. Their tech was fantastic.

American Home Shield’s customer service is amazing. I've gotten both my AC units replaced. It’s totally worth it and I renewed last month. I have no regrets. The contractor wouldn't touch the appliance until I have a valve to cut off the waterline in the back. So, I'm currently in the process of trying to get that done to see if I could get it repaired. The guy who came out was great.
My only complaint is the AC vendor who was bad. They only sent people who spoke Spanish so I had to call the dispatcher and translate between them. They repaired everything but it doesn't even look like they installed it. They came over one time just to check another vendor’s work and they didn't even finish the job. The guy left without telling me he was leaving. They were lying to me saying that the warranty was denying my coverage. I called and there was no record that they ever called.
I had to work with the AC vendor the entire time for one of my units. But I refused to work with them on the second unit and AHS allowed me to outsource. But I still had to deal with them again because that outsourced company was too high priced. So I had to get one of the vendors within the warranty coverage. AHS said they were the only ones in my coverage area. Luckily, this last time, the upstairs unit went out and they have a new vendor so that guy came out. And he was better than them.

I like my service with them. The claims process has been great and the techs have been excellent. They were able to repair my issues. It's a relief to be able to just give AHS a call. So far, it's been really good because within the same day, they usually get somebody lined up.

Their rep answered all my questions and she was very prompt and pleasant. Other companies were like, “Go to our website and look at that.” But, I've had very good results with them. We called for a rekey on our doors and we were extremely happy with what the tech did. The ease of getting her here was awesome. Also in our house was a keyless keypad thing which isn't covered under our home warranty. The tech changed the code on that part as well. So, we were very happy.

The issue with the swimming pool pump was resolved but the claim for the refrigerator has been going on for five weeks. We did a virtual call with the contractor and they ignored everything we said on that call. So, it was a complete waste of time. So, American Home Shield sent someone else who told us exactly the same as what the person said on the phone. They still ordered the wrong part, and it’s still not being fixed. We're away for a few weeks as well, so we can't get it fitted till we’re back from vacation. So, it's been a bit of a nightmare. Sometimes, it takes longer than you think to get things resolved. Last time, the air conditioning took a long time but it was in the middle of COVID, so it was understandable.

My AC wasn't working. A day after making my request with American Home Shield, someone reached back out to me. Techs came and fixed my AC. They had to order parts and come back. Before American Home Shield, I had HSA for a year. I switched to American Home Shield and I get a little bit more benefit.

It had been three years since we've had the furnace checked and we had cracks in the manifold. So, we called AHS and had a company come to check it. We had to have a new furnace put in. Then recently, we had water on the floor and we had another company come out. The problem had something to do with what the company that put the furnace in did. They took some refrigeration type part that had to do with the air conditioner out of the old furnace and put it in the new one. The part didn't work in this new furnace and we had mold in there. On the other hand, our old air conditioner was from 1996 and whatever this panel thing was in the furnace, that was what made all the water come on the floor. American Home Shield paid for us to have a brand new air conditioner and we had to pay for this new part for the furnace since AHS didn't cover that.
And now we're waiting. We have to bring the wiring up to code, so the last contractor that came out is coming out today to bring the wiring up to code and that we have to pay for ourselves because AHS won't cover that. But I'm not complaining about that because I've gotten a brand new furnace and a brand new air conditioner. I've had to pay out of pocket, but I still think I'm ahead.

AHS worked great for the first 10 years, then during COVID, I couldn't get my washer fixed or my dryer fixed. Instead of American Home Shield taking care of it, I kept getting turned to the Philippines. So, I dropped them. Then, I decided I'd give them another try in March and so far, so good. They fixed my fridge and my microwave.

With AHS, it's so much nicer and more convenient to be able to make a phone call and they do all of the searching. Also, they've replaced my oven and then, my dishwasher twice. They came out and fixed my air conditioner and they even replaced one of my well pumps when it went bad once. The only problem that I have is I can't type in on their website what's wrong. My washing machine wouldn't turn on and I knew it was the start button on it but I just had to put down whatever they had on there. I would have been happy to type in what I think is wrong with it. But they got on the ball right away when I contacted them. They had somebody respond to me immediately.
The tech from Sears I that worked with me has come to fix my stuff many times and it worked out great. The Sears people that have worked with me before on others claims are pretty good. I've also had Jones Appliances contracted out here and they were very good about it, although the part that they went to get took a long time to get.

American Home Shield is doing well. I called them when the washer died. They sent out a technician. The appliance is from 2011, and to fix it, it would take two to three hours. I said, “With American Home Shield, if they can’t fix it, they replace it.” He said he would put the claim in and that was what he did. American Home Shield said they will pay for the washer to replace it.

The built-in microwave wasn’t working any longer and the contractor replaced it. The service was great. We've had American Home Shield forever everywhere we've ever lived and we've always been extremely pleased with them and their contractors. People should sign up with AHS as soon as possible. We’re able to get somebody to come out to our house and do repairs quickly through AHS versus us just calling a company out of the blue. I'm assuming there's some sort of service level agreements at AHS’ side with their contractors. Recently, the condensate sensor was tripping on our AC, so the unit was shutting off. We made a claim and the submission process was very easy on their website. Then, the techs came out within two business days and I was very satisfied with the work that they did. Everything's running really well right now.

I love American Home Shield. I did try about two weeks ago to enter a claim and it refused to allow me to do that. I have not tried again. I'm just extremely busy, but I couldn't understand why it wouldn't allow me to do that. Other than that, I'm tickled to death with their service. I just bought this house in February of 2021, and there were issues already with garage doors and air conditioners and they have always made everything right. Everybody's been very professional. Everything, for the most part, has turned out okay. On my garage door, it's taken about four times but I think that's on the people who are coming out just resolving the one issue and not figuring out if there are more issues. I finally have a nice garage door and I'm tickled to death with that.

My air conditioning unit on the inside runs water every time the air goes off of it. I have to put a bucket in there and it runs water into the bucket. When the guy came the first time, he arrived 15 minutes before the appointment. He replaced a pipe and did some more stuff. He thought the unit was fixed, but the next day, it started doing the same thing. So, I called American Home Shield and I called the company back. They sent the guy back today and he was polite. He was very professional and he seemed to know what he was doing. He diagnosed that the pipe wasn't the issue, then he went to the next thing to see if it was the issue. He concluded that it was something else that needed to be done and that he needed to tell the company to get approval from American Home Shield to do it. He then left and said that as soon as he gets the approval, they'll let me know and let him come back to repair it.
Before this claim, I requested for a service on my garbage disposal and I had a rough time. It took me three to four months to get my reimbursement and it was awful. I faxed the invoice to one fax number and they said it was a wrong number. Then I sent it to another fax number but they said it was also a wrong number. So, I sent it to both fax numbers and I emailed it.

The contractor for the AC was very good, professional and knowledgeable. It took a few times to figure out what the problem was but they finally did it. It was a month-long process. Luckily, it was working a little bit. So I got a little relief, but not so much.

The toilet was plugged in one area then the toilet was plugged in the other way. The toilet wouldn't flush because the water intake valve had gotten blocked. The techs had to replace that valve and now, it works fine. The techs were amazing and I loved them. I would recommend them highly for any plumbing needs. They were responsive and quick. They came out the next day and they explained what was going on. They cleaned up beautifully. The problem has not reoccurred. We just had three different problems. Get it American Home Shield.

I've had American Home Shield in all my homes for over 25 years and usually, nothing is covered. We've called them out maybe 20 times and twice, the claims were not covered. There was always a reason why it wasn't covered. They should have more fine lines on what things are covered.

I cancelled American Home Shield. They kept band-aiding the issue. They say, "If it can't be repaired, we'll replace the item." But that's not so much the case as it is with big items like water heaters and air conditioners. I had to pay out of my pocket to get those replaced. For the little things, like a stove repair and a clogged drain, they do okay with that. But I'm paying a monthly fee and a service fee. When I combine those two together, I could add that to the cost of my service call when they come out to replace it. I was paying for something that sounded good, but when I needed them, they weren't there for me. I'm done with them. I'll use another avenue and instead of paying them, I'll just pay it myself.
American Home Shield could improve on quite a few things. Their automated system is horrible. They don't ever give you the option of talking to a real life person. Sometimes that's needed. The automation recordings skirt the issue. It never gets you where you need to be. Also, some of the contractors are bums. I had a service call for an issue that I had in my home and I ended up telling the guy to get out of my house because he pissed me off so bad. I ended up complaining to his company as well as to American Home Shield. I also can't understand the people that I speak to at American Home Shield. My experience with them has been horrible in that regard too. American Home Shield's a great idea. It's just that it's a business and they're there to make money. Unfortunately, they don't tell you everything. You have to read the contract carefully. You almost have to be a lawyer to get through all the jargon.

There was leaking all over the basement. I did a service request and was impressed with American Home Shield's claim process. They gave me the name of the contractor and the time of the appointment. The contractor was very thorough and efficient. They pointed out some general information for my benefit as a homeowner and they answered random questions I had. The issue was something was clogged but it wasn't something that was easily remedied. They were able to unclog it and show me how the sediment had built up inside something. They also showed me how I can do the maintenance.
I'm very pleased with American Home Shield. I've had more than one claim and everything has gone smoothly. My experiences have been very positive. There were quick and informative responses. It's super easy to make a claim on the internet. I get an email and/or text from their contractor and they come out. I would definitely recommend this home warranty. If I could afford it, I would also get that same warranty on another house that I own. It's worth it.

American Home Shield has done what they were supposed to do so far. I've had some electrical issues, a garage door opener stuff and a doorbell issue. With the electrial issue, the contractor tried to come out, looked, and basically turned around and walked away, saying, “We don’t cover that.” And then American Home Shield said they don’t cover it. So, I was like, “Okay.” On the other hand, AAA Action Garage Doors was the best. The guy was on time, very courteous, professional, quick and knew what he had to do.

When I call AHS, they send somebody and they respond within an adequate time. If they see it's something they can't fix, they let me know and they order the part. When the parts come in, they come back and fix my issue within a reasonable time. Also, if the problem is something they can't pick, like when my dishwasher went out, they replaced it. Recently, my air conditioner was acting up and it wasn't cooling like it should. The tech checked but it wasn't anything major. It was something he could fix.
The vendors have been very courteous, helpful, and understanding. They work hard to do what you need done. For my garage door, the man was very tactful and helpful in selecting things that needed to be done. So, I'm very satisfied with them. I highly recommend AHS because they're true to their word.

We had some heavy rain come through the week that I put the claim in and water came through. It started leaking through a straight line in the ceiling. I filed a claim through the website and it was very easy to use. They assigned Tina Webb and they advised to give them a call if we don't hear from them within 72 hours. Tina Webb and they were very friendly and efficient. When I told them how much water had been coming in, they prioritized getting over here. They got over here and did the work quickly. There was a slight delay between when they first came over and when they came back to fix it but the guy secured the area even though he couldn't start the repairs.
I've also had to submit two other claims. It has been wonderful to be able to count on AHS to manage issues as they come up. Their service has been really lovely and the monthly rate and deductible are reasonable. I wish the deductible were a little bit lower, but given what they've ended up being able to do for me, I have no complaints.

Our breaker box was worn out. When you turned it off and on, it would not stay on. That one in particular was for the hot water heater and not having hot water stinks. I went to American Home Shield's website to do my claim and I was given everything I needed like the name of the contractor and the phone number. The only problem was I gave them the wrong phone number and there’s no way to edit that information. I had to call the contractor, Moen, to give them the right number. The repair people came out and did what they needed to do very quickly and efficiently.

The techs came out and changed the capacitor in our AC unit because it kept flipping my electrical box. When they looked at it, they looked at the fuse first, my thermostat next, then went out to the extra unit outside. They ran a bunch of tests with those meters and gauges to tell them all the readings, and the tech said one of the capacitors was out. The capacitor still popped for a second like it was doing before, but it didn't trip the electrical box, then it's worked ever since.
We've had somebody come out five times and haven't had any issues and yet to be in hassle. Every time something needed to be repaired, it got fixed. When something need to be replaced, it got replaced, and there was no additional cost, so far, for us. We've recommended American Home Shield to other family members, and most have also had positive experiences with the company.

I was having a problem with my fridge, so I put in a request for service. AHS had someone come out. The part that they needed to fix was not made anymore, so the guy recommended that they replace the fridge. American Home Shield gave me credit for $1,300, which I thought was very nice for a new fridge. I just chose to spend an extra $100. They gave me a nice brand-new fridge. It was a very good experience. Everything was smooth.

The AC wouldn't cut on. And when it finally did, it blew out hot air. I got the name, address, and phone number of the contractor. And they called. The tech came out, asked me to turn the breaker back on for him. He looked at it, told me it needed wiring and that they would escalate it back to American Home Shield. And they assigned us to an electrician so they could rewire it. He told us there was something that was wrong with the AC. So, they sent out the contractor again. They told us each time what the problem was. The first time, it was the fuse box. There was something wrong with that one, so they replaced that. They actually fixed the AC. AHS is a good company to go with.

I wasn't getting any cooler so I contacted American Home Shield and they set it up for Comfort First to come out. They came out and identified that there was a motor and an electrical component that had to be replaced. The tech was able to replace the motor and had to come back to replace the other part to make it to where it would turn the fan on and off. It took a week from start to finish because he had to wait on the part to be shipped. But Comfort First was awesome. They were easy to work with and very professional, personable, knew what they were doing and took care of the work, and left the house clean. I was very pleased with the experience with American Home Shield.

We have two AC units. One downstairs and one upstairs. The downstairs unit wasn't cooling, so I put in a service request. The AC guy came out and put on what he called a kick start which was supposed to help the compressor start. That worked for a few days, and it was cooling again, then it is stopped working. So I put in another service request and he came back out and said the compressor was totally shot. He told me that it would take 5 to 10 business days to get a new compressor from American Home Shield, and even then, the home warranty doesn't cover Freon, so we ended up spending over $1,000 to fill up the Freon.
The unit was replaced in 2018, so it was fairly new, but the AC guy told me that the new compressor would probably fail again because the previous guys who installed the unit didn't clean the lines properly. All that stuff got into the compressor and that's why it malfunctioned. Also, all that stuff would still be contaminated and would contaminate the new compressor. He suggested that we just get a whole new system. Once I agreed to it, they did it the same day. The claim process went smoothly, but I feel I was pressured to get a new unit and shell out $5,000. I've only used American Home Shield twice, and I wouldn't go with them again. There's another service, open ticket, that I'm still waiting for them to complete, and it's been three weeks. That's on a new faucet.

The AC wasn't cooling and Myers Comfort Specialist of Montgomery came in. The tech was awesome and he explained everything. But the AC still isn't fixed it. It's going to be $1,400 on my part to repair the coil and I'm upset with that. The plan I have doesn't include all of the costs to repair the system. But I’ve referred a couple of people to Home Shield. I tell them it can't be beat. For $150 a month, you know you're protected and it's easier to pay 150 versus $1,000 or $2,000 for something.

I would recommend American Home Shield. Recently, one of the air conditioning units in a room wasn't functioning and there was another one that not enough air was coming. A contractor called right away. They came and discovered that the one that was in one of the rooms didn't have a connection. For the other unit, they fixed it. They closed another one to have more pressure in this one.

American Home Shield has Advanced Appliance come out to replace a bad compressor. They put the new compressor in but didn't clear the line and actually braised for 4 hours or so because they didn't clear the line and contaminates were leaking out before my eyes. Of course this caused the new compressor to immediately go bad as well so Cody said they would come back to (Try something else). Long story short they called a week later to say I needed to replace the system.
I got my neighbor involved who is a Top HVAC guy who became disabled, well then everything changes after he spoke to them after they admitted basically that they messed up and would make it right. 4 weeks later I have to have American Home Shield send a new company to fix Advanced Appliance mess but they haven't scheduled anything yet and it's very hard to speak to someone in US. They keep saying it's a process but I've been without A/C for most of the summer and ready to toss this company.

They are one of the shadiest companies I've met so far. I received a phone call today from someone from their team and they hung up on me. I called them back and they informed me that they had called because I had a past due plan with them. I've never used them, my mother who passed away in 2021, had them as a provider. I told them that the plan would need to be canceled and after asking me if I was selling the house or would need their services and receiving a no answer to both they then told me I still had to pay the balance of the contract since it's beyond 30-days in order to cancel it even though they've never sent me a letter, e-mail, or called me to let me know what is going on with an account my deceased mother had with them.

Been an awful experience, should not take 6 months for an appliance to be fixed. First vendor was a no show, was charged for the no show and now I have to follow up with customer service to get the charge reversed.

Everything in my garage and outside my outlet stopped working. One of the prongs for when you plug something into the wall had broken off. We called the techs in and they removed that piece and reset something. Working with AHS is very easy. I had to follow up with customer service afterward to modify the work order and they were very friendly. They helped me out again. Everything was quick. Definitely go for American Home Shield.

I made three calls to American Home Shield. One was for a ceiling fan that my sister said blew up and the electrician couldn't find anything wrong with it. It's still working. The second call was for my gas stove. I was having issues with burners and techs came out and told me what was going on with that. Nothing had to be fixed or repaired on either one of those. The water heater recently developed a leak and I was very pleased with the plumber that came out. It took a little while that I was without hot water. Other than that, it was a good experience. I just bought new appliances and I didn’t buy extended warranties on them. I feel a little bit better knowing if something happens to one of those, I can rely on my home warranty. the only thing is it’s painful to pay $100 and find out there's nothing wrong with the appliance.

I've been pretty satisfied with American Home Shield. I just had an air conditioner worked on. I scheduled the service and somebody came out and fixed it. I had them come back out for some reservice on it, and it seemed to be fine. The techs were polite and professional. AHS is convenient when stuff does break down. I just make a claim and they schedule and get someone out there. I've been happy.

The pilot light went out on our water heater. My nephew tried to light it numerous times, waiting 10 minutes in between, and it would light but it would not stay lit. The tech came out Friday and vacuumed it out. He said it was dirty and that was the problem. He said that it'd be hot in about 30 minutes but he said I'd need to have it vacuumed once a month. He'd been 180 miles to a meeting that morning and it was a three-hour drive for him. Then it was three hours to get back, so it was 4 o'clock before he came and he acted like he was in a hurry to start his weekend.
I have been getting a new storeroom put in all that Friday afternoon and it came in filthy dirty. And the pilot light was out again. I talked to the contractor, A-1 Plumbing, on a Friday night then, a lady called me on Sunday. She was really nice and she told me that the tech would call me the next day. The email they sent also said the next day. A-1 Plumbing also informed me that they have to go through certain procedures with AHS and that was the first of many procedures. So, I'm going five days without hot water over the weekend and it's going to be tomorrow morning before the tech could get out. The next procedure is to check the thermal coupler or the gas valve.
When I was married, we had three thermal couplers go out then we found out it was a fault in that particular year of water heaters. And though the unit was still under warranty, we ended up getting a new hot water heater and just had to pay for the labor to put it in. But this lady at A-1 Plumbing told me that we couldn't get a new hot water heater unless our unit has water in the pan. She said that was the only way AHS would approve to replace it.

The tech came in and took a look at the washer and attempted to see what the problem was. He was able to detect right away and said that it needed to be replaced. It couldn't be fixed. He put in his notes and said that he would be notifying American Home Shield that it needed to be replaced. Within hours of that, American Home Shield notified me that the appliance would be replaced. They gave me my options of I could purchase or I could use their company. They sent some pictures of the washers that I could have chosen from. I went around to several places and I was able to get the washer and dryer from Home Depot at a reasonable rate. But I still haven't sent them a copy of the invoice.

The AC was not cooling. It got up to 89 degrees in the house. But AllTech came and they were able to take care of the issue during the week. They were really good. If you have any concerns about any appliances going bad, you want to have some peace of mind with the cost. I recommend getting American Home Shield.

My freezer wasn't working properly. My food was defrosting in my freezer. When the tech showed up, the first thing he did was move the freezer out away from the wall, set the back cover off down below, and found a dead mouse in the motor. He said, “Well, that's why your fan’s not working. It can't work with a dead mouse in there.” So he got rid of the mouse. Then the fan started working. He cleaned all the mouse droppings out from behind the refrigerator. I gave him some cleaner and a rag, and he cleaned the floor up for me and then put it back. Within two days, all my food was rock solid again in my freezer. For what he did, it was well worth the $100.

I did the claim online for the first time and it was easier, except the contractor that American Home Shield selected called me the next day like they were supposed to, but gave me a three-week window before they could fix my AC. It was a three-digit heat wave at that time. I waited a week but it got too unbearable so I called AHS. At first, I went to AHS’ customer service and the rep didn't wanna help me at all. So, I told her to turn me over to the gentleman so I could terminate my contract with them. I said that I was not gonna wait three weeks for air conditioning. She refused to switch to another contractor and said I couldn’t do that. I asked why I was paying them every month for something that I was not getting so, she switched me over to the department that cancels the contract.
I talked to a nice gentleman and he referred me to another contractor who came out within a few days. It was a week that I had to wait but it wasn't that bad. I told my friends about it and one of them had a son-in-law that had a portable AC unit. So, he brought it over. The first contractor irritated me. I researched him online and found out he had horrible reviews. So, I didn't want him working on my unit. The tech from the second contractor, Multnomah, was good. He came out and went right into the problem, resolved it quickly and told me what was wrong with the unit. Then, he told me that I had to pay for the refrigerant, which I totally spaced. I didn't remember that. But I went back and checked my contract, and it was true. So, I paid for the refrigerant, which doesn't get covered under my American Home insurance, and everything went great. The AC has been working great ever since.
I canceled American Home a few months ago. Because I arranged to have my air conditioning system reviewed for $99, which was a special that they were throwing out, and that never occurred. The guy never showed up, never called and never did anything. I called in and AHS wouldn't help me on that, so that was when I terminated the contract. But I'm in my 70s. I've been in the house for 30 years and I don't plan on going anywhere. So, I thought about it and I said I’d better get back on it because it's a better deal than you thought. So, that was when I rejoined. And then, this happened. It could have gone more smoothly at the beginning so, that was a customer service issue. I’d dealt with a lot of these companies and people over the years, and that's not a very good friendly reaction.

We had two techs out last week for the dishwasher that wasn't draining and they had to come back twice. The first time, they replaced the motherboard but when I ran it, it still didn't empty. The second tech who is better than the first guy took care of it. The contractor, Astro Appliances, was courteous, efficient and quick. Also, AHS did the new thing where you can add additional things. What's really nice is that the warranty covers the Freon in the air conditioner. We did a happy dance for that.

I had Select Home Warranty and my deductible and premiums were cheaper. But they required, every six months, service maintenance records. I was tired of dealing with it and wanted something that was more cut and dried. American Home Shield seems to be a whole lot more cut and dried. I understand caps. They'll only pay so much. I don't expect them to go in and replace everything in my home that could possibly be wrong. But at the same time, if I'm going to pay for some type of coverage, I at least want it to be substantial enough that the coverage is helping me with not having maintenance on every item in my home every six months because for blue collar folks, that's not reasonable. American Home Shield works out for me because I have older stuff. You're gonna pay one way or another, and I prefer to pay a little bit of time and a service fee as opposed to coming out of my pocket with big chunks.
Recently, I was getting water in a place in my home that was unexplainable. I couldn't figure out where the water was coming from. It could be the shower drain, the valves from the shower, or the pipe leading up to my showerhead. A plumber came and saw right away that my shower drain was bad, so he took care of that. This is the second time the contractor has been in my home, and both times, they’ve been great. I did this claim over the phone because all those boxes weren't available to be checked online. I wanted to make sure that I went into very much detail to avoid having to file multiple claims in case it worked to be more than one thing. I ran into this with an electrical claim and I didn't claim everything that needed to be claimed on there so I had to go outside of my warranty and get some other things done that would have been covered had I known how to fill out the request submittal in more detail.

We used American Home Shield at our first house and we use it now in the second house. It's proven valuable. Recently, our dryer started squealing bad so I called AHS. A contractor came in and replaced the parts that needed to be replaced. It was a quick fix and there was good communication. We had a claim previously on a washing machine and I also had a good experience.

We've had plenty of issues with the claims with American Home Shield. Our fridge has been worked on five times and it still doesn't work. We just keep trying to submit it and the contractors come out and don't do their work. We also had washer and dryer issues. They never fixed that. So, we just bought our own washer and dryer. It's the contractors that AHS are selecting and then, they're not doing anything about it. When we bought the house, AHS came with it and because of the ongoing claims, we paid for another year.

My outside unit stopped working. I called American Home Shield for a claim and it was automated. They then called me back and they were very helpful. American Home Shield sent something saying who was going to do the service at my residence and they gave me the phone number as well. When their service guy came, I told him what the problem was. He knew exactly what it may have been and went straight to it. He was good and did the work in an hour.

I called American Home Shield and then they contacted Advantage Pool. Then they set up an appointment and came out and fixed the pool pump. They did a great job. Everything is good. I've had both good and bad experiences with American Home Shield. They've been really good with the pool stuff. But they were the worst when it came to replacing my air conditioning system. It took forever. Finally, I just purchased it out of pocket because it was ridiculous how bad it was. So I would never recommend American Home Shield for anyone if all they were interested in was their conditioning system.

I had some problems with the dishwasher. It was making some type of noise, like a pump was going on somewhere on there. I made a claim with AHS and the tech fixed that. Afterwards, I had a problem with a clip and he had to make a return visit for that, but he got everything fixed. So now, when we turn on the dishwasher, you can hardly tell it's running. He did a very good job and I haven't had any more problems since he came out the second time.

American Home Shield's service is great. I like not having to worry about coming up with $12,000 for a new AC unit and it's very easy to do business with them. I also always get somebody out in a timely manner and they're always good. They either fix the appliance or replace it and we've had two washers replaced so far. We recently had a claim for a bad switch in our attic. It was burned out and not working, so the techs replaced it.

I've called in claims both times and I didn't have much of a wait each time. The first time, my dryer had messed up and they fixed it. The second time, I had to have a complete redo of my clean-out pipe for my plumbing and the warranty didn't cover that. So I had to go through a different plumbing company. I've had AHS for about a year and a half and the thing I like about the service is the flat rate for the deposit.

I got a plumber, Cory, who had been to my home before when he worked for a different company. He had been there to repair my well pump but he was there this time to unclog the main drain. And it was a very good experience. He provided excellent customer service. I followed American Home Shield’s directive, which their video initially showed me how to unclog the sink. I did that and I put it back together but the clog was in the main drain. So, he made sure that everything under there was connected back because I didn't do it correctly since I'm not a plumber. He made sure the drain was unclogged and let me know what had caused the clog so that I could be proactive in the future about what I choose to scrub with. Cory is very good at what he does.
Paying monthly, I feel like I'm paying it forward in the event that I do have a problem. So, I like that about American Home Shield. The vendors that I’ve had were excellent. I've not had a single problem with any vendor and then they have all communicated effectively either by text or by phone call. I also have a pool and I had a plumbing leak. AB Nation Pool came out and did an excellent job as well. They communicated to me when they had been out. Everything was accessible from the outside so once I established with them that my mother who was 82 was always there, they came out. They let her know when they're on the property and did what they had to do and left. When I went to the website, I could check and see where they made the request for the materials they needed. When they got in, they came out promptly and put them in. My pool has not lost any water since.

When the repairman came out the first time for the AC, he thought he had solved the problem based on what was happening. He told me to monitor it and see if the house started to cool. I left it on for two days, and the temperature never went down. It constantly ran. I called the American Home Shield back, and they sent him back out. He did additional tests and found that something needed to be replaced. American Home Shield called me and told me what the repairman said. I had to pay an additional $400 for parts that weren't covered. That didn't make me happy, but I did it ‘cause I needed the air conditioner and it was cheaper than having to pay $5,000 for a new unit. He came back out, fixed it and my air conditioner has been working fine ever since. The only question I had was why was my deductible so much higher than my family members who referred me. They said it was because of the freon. I get free freon and they don't. Otherwise, I'm enjoying American Home Shield’s service.

I had a good experience with them. I had a leak from the rings that they put on the bottom of the bowl to stop it leaking from the floor. The tech came on time and fixed it. He was very nice.

The system had been off for a while and when we turned it on, it didn't work. I made a claim with AHS via my app on my phone and it was very easy. Then, I called and the tech from Turner Electric was there the next day. He was presentable, represented the company well, and was very professional. He was at the house for less than 20 minutes, fixed the problem, and the air conditioner is getting cold again. I'm an electrical engineer and with the way this guy represented the company when he came out, I would recommend them to my general contractors. That's how well of a job he did.

The AC's compressor went out and the contractor replaced it. It took two weeks to get everything completed because they had to order a part. The company that American Home Shield sent out was excellent. I would recommend them to anyone. They were anything you could ask for.

I'm waiting on American Home Shield to schedule an appointment for me. The icemaker line is broken. The contractor did reach out to me, but these are the contractor that came to my house one time and they said they did not come to my house, trying to get the money. So, I told AHS that I did not want those contractors back. So, they gave me another one. I was hoping to keep the second one that came to my house because they did a pretty good job. As far as our AC unit claim, I was gonna call for that today. On a Monday when they fixed it, it started working but today, if I put it on 69, maybe in the next 45 minutes, it will go back up to 70 by itself. Other than that, United Air Temp did a pretty good job. They got the job done. The tech was very professional.

The process took longer than expected. Unfortunately, my heat pump is a Lennox that can't use interchangeable parts so we had to get Lennox parts. It came initially within a week. That was great, but once the contractor started playing with it, they were turning up being another part that ended up being required with the motor. They got it ordered. Once that was done, everything was taken care of satisfactorily and it cost me 100 bucks total. That's hard to beat. At this point, I'm happy. Vail Heating & Cooling was fantastic. They would call to check with me.
I also submitted a service request to American Home Shield for a roof leak. They said they’d be working on getting a technician. A couple of weeks went by but nothing happened. I followed up with them, and it turned out they were in the same position as everybody else. Even companies I know and trust and work with locally couldn't come out till November. It was a leak so I just had somebody do it ‘cause it couldn't wait in this case. American Home Shield said they were sorry and and credited back my service request fee. Everybody's fine and happy.

The contractors are great. However, there were a couple of situations where American Home Shield was not able to assist and not being as timely so I ended up taking care of myself. They haven't been as valuable as I hoped them to be. My sister asked me about it last week and I advised her. We have Consumer Reports and sometimes the consumer reporter will say, "Don't dive into these warranty companies. Whatever money you would pay to them, put into a separate bank account." That's what I advised my sister. You're still going to have to pay the deductible and you're paying that monthly fee. I'm giving American Home Shield another month or two. After that, if I don't feel the value then I'll drop it.

I use American Home Shield for my home and my kids’ homes. It is costly, but I can sleep at night knowing that if the air conditioning goes out, somebody comes the next day. The tech that came out from Highway was awesome. He was very informative. He told me what the problem was and what he did. Overall, I like AHS' follow-through. I had an issue with the pump of the swimming pool, and I told them nobody came out, and then I had a phone call within 30 minutes from the company.

I’m liking AHS so far. It seems good. I like the fact that when something goes down, I can put in a claim and have someone come out for the repair. Recently, I needed a new part in my tank. The guy came out and he got it done in 10 minutes. So, that was really appreciated. He was also great.

I've had AHS for over a year now. I had one occasion to use it and they responded quickly. It was an air conditioning problem here in Oklahoma. The tech came and fixed it and was in and out really fast.

AHS gets the job done when I need it. I last used the warranty for the door of the microwave and the process was great. The techs resolved the issue that day. I'm comfortable having the warranty. If anything breaks, I know I can get it fixed.

The first time I used American Home Shield, it wasn't a very pleasant experience, but the second time was. It was for the AC unit. I don't live at the house. The tenant does, but he didn't have any gripes or concerns. Whenever I put in a request, they have up to 24 hours to respond. That means that your AC or fridge could be down for 24 hours and then you have to wait for a service rep to come out and deal with it. So, it could be five days before something gets looked at. If they chopped that time of acceptance and dispatch to a worker into about 12 hours, that'd be cool.
Other than that, I liked that I didn't have to call 32 people to check up on things and payment was automatic and I didn't have to have two service people come out and look at something. I didn't have to pay that deposit twice, too. But let's say if an AC tech comes out and cannot fix the issue and I need to get dispatched to a different company, I would have to pay the $50 service fee again to a different company and hopefully, they can fix it. I had to deal with that on my first AC issue. I had to pay that deposit twice.

The service has been pretty good. Recently my air conditioning unit had a leak. The techs had to replace the fan which had burned out. They resolved the problem right then. I've had previous claims as well with a hot water heater with a pilot that keeps going out. American Home Shield has sent somebody three times and the techs just relight it and it ends up going out again. I'm disappointed in that as it's an ongoing problem and I'm still getting charged for it. I've paid the deductible each time. I thought that if it was the same problem, you didn't get charged for it.
Also, AHS could have a more timely manner of someone getting a hold of me after I send in my claim. Other than that, I've had good luck with the technicians. They have always been really good.

This is the second time American Home Shield didn't repair something for me. My stove went out. They said the mice ate the covering off of something and they wouldn't make it good. They came up with an excuse that there was grease in the microwave and they didn't cover it. I will never use them again.

The tech Myers Comfort Specialist of Montgomery sent out for my AC claim was cool. He came right in and checked everything out. He said he knew exactly what it was and all it took was a few minutes for him to get everything situated.

In the last two years, this was the fifth time that techs had to come out for our refrigerator. Last year, they replaced that thing that freezes up the top of the refrigerator. They replaced it twice. This year, they replaced a part. The fourth time they came out, the fridge on top, got frozen up. The guy said, "The guy put the part in wrong." So he changed that. It froze up again after two weeks. The same guy came out. He was really pleasant. He knew what he was doing. But he said, "It's showing the same numbers up on top that it showed the last time. So I need to change the same part again plus the circuit board.” We had to wait for a week for the circuit board to come in. He called us and he came and replaced both the parts.
So far, it's working. It hasn't frozen up again. Hopefully, now that he put the circuit board and that little thing, it'll be okay. 'Cause he said those types of refrigerators should last 15 years. AHS responds the best they can. But when it comes to refrigerators, that should have priority as getting out here because there's food that will go bad that can't be replaced.

I had a plumbing issue and American Home Shield sent Bestway. They were great. As far as AHS, some of their people are better than others.

I've had American Home Shield for years on my home as well as my rental property. I was with this home warranty when the service fee was $35, which was a million years ago. I got away from them then I went back because they seemed to cover the most things and they seemed to stand by the work and the program. The contractors tend to be on the ball too. I also liked the way that they have a setup where you got all these feedback options and surveys. I used them when there was an issue with the air conditioner at my rental property. Everything must have gone pretty well because my tenant didn't complain.
One issue I have with American Home Shield is when I call, sometimes the rep does not always confirm which property is in question so they sent contractors to the wrong house before. That's a waste of time and money. The last time we did this, we had to do a credit. The credit process worked fine but then you would have to reapply and get a contractor to reschedule for another thing. I didn't like that part as I don't have time for that.
Other than that, American Home Shield does what they say they are gonna do. I've had all kinds of stuff going on between the two homes and it's been great. I've tried other warranty companies intermittently just to see and it was horrible. Some programs out there play with the service fee then they question whether they can do certain things. I don't like that. American Home Shield is solid and I wouldn't go with any other company. I've been around the block a few times and I've done this for a minute. They charge a little bit more than the others, but you get what you pay for. I've already recommended the American Home Shield a couple of times to a co-worker and she used them.

American Home Shield sent Accord for the icemaker that was leaking. It was initially scheduled on a Monday, and nobody showed up or called. I tried calling the number that was associated with Accord Appliance. Nobody was picking up. They have their own chat option for an agent, but that was not working. The entire Monday and Tuesday, I tried to reach out to them, but nobody was there. Finally, somebody called me back on Wednesday saying that the technician was coming on Thursday, to which I asked the person, “What the heck happened on Monday?” All of their technicians were busy. It would have helped if somebody would have called us so that we could have gone on our day and done other stuff instead of waiting for the technician to show up when nobody did. The guy that called me Wednesday did not even say, "We're so sorry that that happened."
On Thursday, the person arrived. He was young, very professional, straight to the point, and fixed the issue. I was not happy with Accord but I was very happy with the technician. He said the refrigerator that we have, from the factory, always has a chronic issue with regards to the ice maker. It's how it was engineered and how it was designed. He showed me the old icemaker and then the new one that he was gonna replace it with. It's working like it's supposed to now.
I also had this exterior lighting installed. It was an option that for homeowners, you get a discounted rate. An electrician showed up and gave me a quote for about 149. I mentioned to him, "I saw on AHS website that there's a $40 discount. Would that be taken after this?" He was like, "Yeah." So I said, "Okay. So that'll be 109 then.” He installed this and texted me the figure. Afterward, I got a call that it was 189 after the $40 discount. I was not happy. I sent AHS the picture from the electrician that gave me the quote. So, I will never pick that option for AHS that says, "These are the other option. $79 to vacuum two rooms," ever again. As far as communication with AHS is concerned, I'm very happy. I just wish that they were more helpful with that light hookup but other than that, I'm very satisfied.

The fan was making a whole lot of noise. Sometimes, it'll work well, and sometimes it wouldn't. My husband submitted a claim to American Home Shield. They sent McAtee for it, and they fixed it. One time, we called for my other property and we paid the money for it, but the person never came. It was for the air conditioner. We dropped American Home Shield and we went to another company, but we weren't satisfied at all with them. So, we went back to American Home Shield. The last time we had problems with the AC, we called AHS and the person that came out did an awesome job. They just had to wait until the piece came in and they rushed it in so my parents could have air. We've always gotten good satisfaction with American Home Shield.

American Home Shield doesn't take forever to get a contractor out when you call. I like that. When I call, I get a response. It's not like I gotta leave a message and wait. There's always somebody there to answer and take my information down. Then I get a call back and let me know when they would be here. They give me a time frame for when they will be here, and they're here. Sometimes, they come early because of another case they may have finished up earlier. Recently, I called and made an appointment for the AC that was making a lot of noise. In two to three days, a repairman was out here. He identified himself and let me know where he was from. He came to check my air conditioning unit. Then we went on around and checked it out. After that, I asked him to check the thermostat inside, and he did so. He solved the problem.

I had a claim to American Home Shield where Pronto Plumbing came out. I had a slow leak in the tank. It was coming from the bottom of my tank. I guess it was rusted out or worn out. I called AHS and we took pictures. The process was easy. All I had to do was hold my camera and take pictures, and the representative guided me on how to take the pictures and what pictures she wanted.

My AC wasn't cooling my house and was intermittently working. The tech came right away but at the time, the AC worked and he didn't find anything wrong with my system. Two days later, it went out again. Apparently, with American Home Shield, you get 30 days to recall for the same issue, so I called them. They sent another tech out from the same company and he fixed it. AHS is an awesome company.

In two days, Sears was there, after the claim setup, and the issue ended up being the vent hose was clogged up. Overall, I like American Home Shield. I don't have to worry about big things.
