    American Home Shield is a great company. I love their company. They honor their contract. I try other companies along with American Home Shield, and I noticed over the years, that when I call American Home Shield, it's less complications. With other companies, the process of filing a claim, getting the work done, getting the contractors out, it's a lot more difficult. So, I started cutting off the ones that wasn't effective, and AHS just was the last one standing. I got a great relationship with them. Their contractors are professional. Even if they are not, AHS will send you out one that is. They get the job done on time and correctly. So that's who I'm sticking with. Hopefully, they keep up with the good service that they've been providing for me and other customers.

    AHS got a new company that came out, but the process was very tedious. Just getting the contractor out was like pulling teeth. I had them for four months before I even canceled them because I didn't have issues. Three months went by when I finally had an issue. It was terrible. I said, "That's money I threw away." So if I'm gonna continue, it's like having insurance. You don't want to wait until an incident occurs to realize that your insurance is not reliable. Too late, that money is gone. It's very valuable.

    Ambient Air said a bad thermostat made the unit freeze up. They put a good thermostat in and everything is fine. The second claim didn't go well. My add-ons to my contract were a septic pumping and my pool. I specifically upgraded to whatever they said. I asked, "I'm planning on having someone come out and pump our septic tank. Is that included?" They said yes. So, I paid the $125, made them set the appointment. The septic people came out and told me it would be $150 for them to remove the lid, and it was another $400 on top of that to have them pump it.

    It clearly states on my contract that pumping the septic tank is included. We had to write them a check and we are out of our pocket $550 on top of the 125. It's no different than having someone come out and do maintenance on the air conditioning. That's included, right? So, they will come out, schedule to come service your air conditioning. And my septic service was to be included as well, which they did not cover. I hope that AHS does the right thing.

    We've had some good service but AHS will want to negotiate with you over something in that's already in the contract that's supposed to be paid for. I'm not going to renew the warranty because I have to keep calling and calling. It's not worth it. I'd be better off sticking the money in a savings account and just having it when it's time to fix something. It's very frustrating. AHS didn't used to be that way. In the last two years, it's been a fight.

    I've referred family members and it's the same thing. They're fighting to get service. We're showing the contract and it's stated clearly what's covered. But AHS is trying to get out of paying by saying, “Well, this additional work needs to be done and so you have to pay for that.” For the air conditioner, I called an outside company to come and tell me that what they were saying was not true. I had to pay an attorney $160 to write a letter to get them to do what they're supposed to do anyway. They did it as soon as they got that letter from the attorney.

    I'm very unhappy. For years they were very good. The techs would do the service. I've never had to have anything large done until the air conditioner went out. It was a battle because they didn't want to pay for the big-ticket items. I wish I had never referred American Home Shield because now they’re just terrible.

    I used American Home Shield for one service and it must have taken me about an hour to work with the representative to get the appointment set up, which was ridiculous. The rep was having issues with her system so, she had to reboot it a couple of times, and when I gave her my Visa card, that didn’t go through twice. So, she had to reboot that again. Then later on, I got a notice that they were not able to process my payment. So, I had to go online and I had to re-enter the information again. But once I got past that, it worked out good. There were two toilets and one was running regularly since we purchased the house. But the other one completely stopped filling up. Or it would take two hours to fill up the tank. In Omaha, the water is very hard and it created some problems. So, it was two systems that were replaced and now, everything’s fine. I saved money but the repair took a long time.

    I like American Home Shield well. They're typically good to work with as far as scheduling contractors. If I have any issues, they take care of that right away. Their coverage is good too. My recent claim which was for an AC unit went well. It was the thermostat and the tech just had to do a minor fix on it. Anybody would wish that they covered a little bit more especially where AC repairs are concerned because it’s still quite pricey if it's a major unit issue. But still, their coverage has saved me a few thousand dollars.

    American Home Shield has been great. The same can be said about their timing and they get people out as soon as possible. The process of paying the claim could be faster but some things take time. I'm okay with it. My washer went out and they sent someone out. They actually had to come out twice because the first time they came the manufacturer said that what I was hearing was normal. I made a video for him. I then had to do a second video during which I was yelling because I could not be heard because the bearings had gone out in the washer. They finally said that was not normal. They told me they were gonna replace the washer and they would send us a check within 21 days. I haven't received that yet. I had a TV go out about a year ago too. American Home Shield did well and it was about the same process.

    My air conditioner was not working and the techs that came for it were great. The issue was resolved the same day. I had a previous repair a couple of years ago with my air conditioner as well and that was fine. When you have American Home Shield, you don't have to pay a huge out of pocket.     The recent experience for a plumbing issue was excellent and it was taken care of. I waited a day or two and it was very successful. But the previous one was horrible. I had a plumbing issue and the guy said he was not gonna put the snake down because it looked like he would cause more damage. He didn’t know how old the pipes were and we didn’t have the thing that’s in the kitchen or laundry room that they could put a snake through to get rid of the stoppage area. He also said that it wasn’t covered. So, the contractor didn’t resolve it and they wouldn’t.

    I called American Home Shield and they said they didn’t cover putting those in there. I said that they knew what my plumbing was before I bought my house, so that was supposed to be covered. Except for getting a trap, they said that I would have to pay for that myself. I said that there had to be another way to do it and they said no. So, I just hired my own plumber from my previous home and he took care of it in five minutes. I was so upset because the guy that was sent out didn’t look around for it and at the time, I didn’t even know what that was. I do now.

    I ended up calling back and saying I want my money back. The rep said they were not doing that and couldn’t do that. I asked to talk to a supervisor and I was told I couldn’t talk to her. It was a bad experience and I almost said I didn’t want AHS anymore. They sent me out a plumber who was very substandard the first time. But this time, four years later, was okay. So, maybe they’ve improved, I’m happy that it turned out good because I’ve been paying for AHS for five years. So, for it to work once, it’s a nice thing. It gives me peace of mind.

    I had American Home Shield when I was in California because it was recommended by my co-workers. I also had it in New Jersey and here in Maryland. Compared to another home warranty, American Home Shield covers more. It's pretty laid out what they cover. Also, they fixed everything that I asked for most of the time or replaced it. I'm pretty happy with them and I've been pleased with what they offer. I had a run-in with one of the vendors and American Home Shield was able to switch them out right away for me and get another vendor. I would recommend their company to others. Most recently, I had a plumbing issue where my toilet wasn't flushing as well. Technicians came out quickly and they diagnosed the issue. They knew what it was and in 10 minutes, they were done. They gave me tips on what to do to flush properly. They provided excellent work.

    American Home Shield seem to take care of the things that I need taken care of but you have to hold and wait in line to get through. The washer locked up and it wouldn't open. So, the contractor came and fixed it. Then, they fixed the dryer and they're working on the dishwasher. The claims process with AHS is reasonable and better than most companies that I've dealt with. The tech who came out for the last three calls told me he does all he can and he does. He tries to work me in because I'm not always home.

    There was a leak and there was ceiling damage that occurred in my home. I contacted AHS to have a roofer come out because that's where I assumed it was coming from. The field adjuster stated that it could be the HVAC system that's leaking because of where it's placed above the ceiling. I contacted AHS and Orr HVAC did an inspection. They inspected everything up in the attic and stated it was not coming from the system. They couldn't find any indication of a leak.

    I'm right back with the roof and AHS sent someone who said that it was just one little area of a nail that look rusted to him. He figured that's where the leak was coming from. I had other roofers come outside of who AHS sent and they're saying that the ridge vent is lifting up from high winds during the storms, which is pushing water through and causing the damage. That was overlooked by the tech AHS sent and had it been more thoroughly inspected, I could have gotten the issue with the ridge vent resolved through them. Now, I'm coming out of pocket for something that he said was from a nail that wasn't sealed.

    So far, I like AHS. Their service has been very good. Usually, they assign the technician or somebody to do whatever needs to be pretty quickly and seems to be doing the work. I had two appliance claims, one was a dryer that needed to be fixed. The technicians fixed whatever part they needed and it works fine now. The other one was a washer. First, they thought they had to fix something or replace a part, but then they determined that they couldn't. So, I got a new washer from American Home Shield.

    The first time I had service with American Home Shield was great. The second time was less than satisfactory. The representative that was representing American Home Shield was pretty disrespectful to the gentleman who came to our home to do the technician work. His English wasn't perfect and she just made a bunch of snap assumptions like he spoke Spanish, which he didn't. He's from Africa and there are 54 countries in Africa and he's living in this country trying to do his thing and I didn't like the way that the woman that was on the phone treated him. It was in regard to my garbage disposal repair.

    As far as the technician, he did what he needed to do and didn't take him long and did what would appear to be a good job. So, I was very satisfied with that. It was just the American Home Shield customer service representative that took care of me. She needs to take some sensitivity training. She was questioning my integrity, too. That made me a little bit upset.

    I had a claim to American Home Shield on my old dishwasher, so I had to buy a new one. AHS got me somebody for it. Some of my claims with American Home Shield are a little weak. A technician came for my faucet, but he wouldn't do the faucet unless I got somebody to come out and do the sink. I had to pay because I had a leak in it. I had to pay $1,500 to get somebody to come out here and dry it.

    The water heater in my house broke all of a sudden. There was a leak in my water heater. I called and filed a claim with American Home Shield. They sent one company. They came and just took a few pictures. Then I got a call from American Home Shield saying that the water heater was not covered. The failure was because of water pressure. I said, "How can someone figure out if it is related to water pressure?" Just by taking a few photographs, how can some company say that it's because of water pressure? They did not check anything. They did not bring any equipment to check the water pressure. AHS said they would do a second opinion through Assurance Plumbing. Initially, they did not come out. They just did a video streaming thing. After that, they sent the diagnosis report to American Home Shield. Finally, when they came, they did a good job. Everything worked out well.

    American Home Shield is a great service. They're always on time and they never let you down. Recently, the water pipes were hammering every time I would flush the toilet. At first, I couldn't decide how to put the claim in because there weren't any box that would explain the problem other than "toilet problem." In this case, it wasn't specifically the toilet, it was the piping of the water that goes directly to the toilet. It could have been a little bit more explanatory to be able to describe it. But other than that, they fixed everything.

    For four years we've had AHS. Recently, they were supposed to fix a leaking toilet. It was a flapper, which we know how to do, but we'd already paid the $100. It wasn't a float-type toilet. It was a newer one that has the sensor and the sensor went bad. So, they replaced that. They were also supposed to fix the leak in our water hose pipe that's out back of the house that's connected to the house. But they said they couldn't do it because it was outside the house. It wasn't recessed. I was like, "Who has a recessed hose pipe? That doesn't make any sense to me. It is part of the house's plumbing." They said, "No, we don't do that." Then, no one ever called me back from American Home Shield to let me know what was going on. So, I called my son and he figured it out.

    There was also an issue where they supposedly fixed a leak in our bathtub last year. In the middle of the night, whatever they did, didn't fix it and it just busted loose. I woke up to hot water pouring out. They didn't do emergencies, even if it was their fault. We were talking about a $400 water bill. It was doing it for two hours before I woke up. Thank goodness we have good drainage because after two hours of the bathtub running could have flooded the whole house. There were also a lot of positives, though. My washer broke right after I bought it and they replaced it. My hot water heater also went right after I bought the house and that only cost a few hundred dollars.

    The contractor came out and they thought they fixed the problem with the air conditioner. But it wasn't resolved. So they came back out and found out the part was messed up. The tech fixed it and that was it. It got fixed on about the third try. But everything worked out great. They were a great company. American Home Shield is really good about forwarding the request to whatever company is supposedly coming out. They always tells us as the process goes on that you've been assigned to a company and they should call you, but they always leave the number of the provider. So you can always contact them. I like the way they do that. But they may want to remind the company that's coming out that they need to contact the consumer. Because there were a couple of times that the company called the day that they were gonna come to say that they were coming.

    Our washer has this filter thing way at the bottom that you have to pull out and clean. We didn't even know that existed and we've had it for 10 years.     I'm very dissatisfied with AHS. We had an issue with the air conditioning. The techs flushed the pipe supposedly. But it's leaking more now than it was before they looked at it. I had another issue regarding the oven. I have issues with the provider they use sometimes. They seem a bit shady because they're hard to get ahold of. You finally get ahold of them and they say they ordered the part. Three weeks out and you’re going on back and forth and having to keep calling and checking. Also, they don't waste any time at all taking the $100 upfront fee. But when it comes to getting the services actually done, the providers they use, sometimes they schedule them out so far in advance. When the appointment finally comes, you gotta wait. Either they're late or they give you this bogus time frame, between 10:00 and 4:00 and they're like, “I could do 8:00 and 12:00, or 8:00 and 10:00" and then they may or may not show up.     My roommate came home and there was water all over the floor. We weren't sure if it was the tub or the toilet. I didn’t want to let it continue, so I called American Home Shield. They assigned me Evans Plumbing. They were amazing. The technician came and he was prompt and he let me know when he was coming. He listened to what problems I was having. He diagnosed it and told me what was actually going on. He fixed it and said if there were any issues, he'd come back and fix it again. I haven’t had any problems with that toilet since he fixed it.

    I’ve had other contractors in the past where they say they fixed things, and then I have to call them back, or I have to call someone else to come fix it, and I haven't had that issue. AHS is definitely worth it. They do good work. A lot of people are wary about scams of home warranties but AHS is not a scam. They vouch for their business. If there's a problem, techs will come out, diagnose it and not gaslight me and say that I don't know what I'm talking about.

    The guy from No Problem Heating & Cooling who came last time and serviced my air conditioner had me so pissed off I couldn’t even see straight. The guy was like, “Ugh. Smells like water down here.” He said, “Your air conditioner’s dirty,” and then he said, “There are two burnt wires in the capacitor, and the compressor is bad.” He was rambling on and on. He said, “Oh, you're gonna get denied.” I said, “You're the one writing the report.”

    American Home Shield denied me. Meanwhile, this guy sent me an estimate for a new furnace to my email for $9,000. I called American Home Shield back and I said, first of all, I don't think there was any water in the furnace. Secondly, I know my air conditioner was dirty because we had all those storms. I felt like he rolled it up in such a way that I would get denied so that I would use his company to get new stock.

    I told them, “I will cancel you today unless you send somebody else out.” They sent out Budget Heating & Cooling. He didn't even look at the furnace roll. He looked at the air conditioner, which was what was not working. He saw one burnt wire and, right away, he said, “You need a new capacitor.” He put in a new capacitor and had it working in 15 minutes.

    I also had a guy who did not know what he was doing. My air was out for five days because I had to wait for them to send the company. Then this guy kept going back and forth. He also broke the piece. So, he had to order a piece. We were on a whole another three days without air. I was aggravated. He installed a new blower motor inside the furnace. One of the other things that No Problem Heating & Cooling wrote down, “Your blower motor is loose.” I said, “Oddly enough, the company before you installed that blower motor.”

    Also, when you're calling customer service, and you're already frustrated, the last thing that I want is to speak to someone that I cannot understand. It drives me nuts. Also, when you're without air or heat, it would be nice to have a few more companies available. But I had an air conditioner guy come out. He was on time and was very nice. I asked him if I could get a handle because my handle was broken on the dryer. He said, “Let me see what I can do.” He got a handle and he brought it to my work.

    I don't like that when an appliance breaks, American Home Shield doesn't match it. I put the best appliances that I could buy and they put inferior products in. Recently, they had Aza Repair fix two appliances at the same time, the refrigerator and the microwave. The microwave stopped completely, and the refrigerator wasn't cooling properly. The settings kept changing. The techs came out the next day, and they were quiet, did their business, then left. The refrigerator is acting up a little, but it's staying cool.

    The contractors show up on time. However, the issue right now is the washer and dryer. They came and looked at it. Now, they're saying they're waiting on parts. We've waited probably five months for parts to get this thing repaired. There was another claim for the refrigerator. The contractor was only able to do the repair that the warranty would cover. We're discussing whether we're going to change home warranty companies or not. We have a pool and American Home Shield won't cover it. That is why we need to figure out what we're going to do next to get somebody to cover everything, plus the pool.

    The first time the techs came, the head guy was from Ukraine but he spoke English. He was very efficient and knew his job. He knew exactly how to take the unit apart and it was not even 15 minutes for everything. They diagnosed my unit. The lower drain hose broke and he had to order the part. Four days later, they contacted me to replace the part and it worked like a champ.

    AHS is a lot better than what they were 15 years ago. Everything was a lot smoother this time. I was able to do the claim online one, two, three instead of calling up.

    The American Home Shield rep said that the AC already has been addressed, so I would have to pay an extra fee for the second visit. The AC was serviced one month back, it has gone down again. So, I said, "Let's cancel the American Home Shield policy for me, because I have other options as well." When I said that, she acknowledged and said, "Okay. We will service the second service for free for AC." And the company who came for the second service was very good and experienced. Although he was old, he did his service very good. The first AC company who came, that guy was young, and just did everything in five minutes. So, it was not a surprise why my AC broke down in 30 days.

    I had four people come out and fix my AC. Every time they came, they would say the unit was working great and they leave after 10 minutes. After which, the unit wouldn't work again. I liked the first guy that came out. He was honest and he said he could not fix the AC when it was working. It would go on and off, on and off. I kept calling Home Shield to let them know that the unit was not getting fixed right. They said someone would call us back but no one did. I had no AC and it was the heatwave. I was ready to cancel my warranty with Home Shield. They seem to send people that don’t really do anything.

    In the end, I called the first guy that came and said, “Can you come back and fix it? I won't go through Home Shield.” He came out two days ago. I thought it would be good to have someone who already saw it look at it again. I paid over $2,000 to get the AC fixed. I have this insurance policy that does me really no good and I bet my life they won’t reimburse me.

    I currently have two active policies with American Home Shield. I like that when something goes wrong, I have a number I can call that normally comes out and fixes it right away. I don't have to search around for a reputable repairman in the area and that particular appliance. Peck General Construction came out to repair two things. We had a washer dryer where a dryer belt broke and they had to replace the belt, which they did right away. They did a great job on that.

    For the refrigerator freezer, they replaced the compressor and a circuit card. Two days after they finished the repair, the thing stopped working. I tried calling them back. They never answered their phone. I had to go through American Home Shield. It took about a month to get Peck to come back out to the house. Turned out that there was a problem with the amount of refrigerant that they had put in it. So, they redid the refrigerant and it seems to still be working. The technicians who came out did a professional job. I'm satisfied with the work that they did. It just took a lot longer than it needed to. I’m also 99% satisfied with American Home Shield.

    My claim was for the microwave and the dryer and AHS was quick to send someone. The tech did a good job with the dryer. The top of the felt strip was coming out so he put a new one in. I'm just waiting on my microwave as I didn't hear anything about it. So I ended up purchasing one myself and emailed the receipt and information.

    The only thing I had a problem with was with talking to a representative or someone who is taking the calls. I couldn't understand what they were saying.     My fiance, Teddy, has a couple of houses and he’s a big advocate of Home Shield. I asked him, “Why is my house under this?” He said, “They’re gonna help you so much.” For me though, as long as you keep your foot on their back, you’re good. The last company Home Shield sent the other day has not been doing so great, and it’s been taking me since July till yesterday to get somebody to send a different service provider out. I bought a new air conditioner unit and they never installed it. They just set it on the flat. I didn’t realize it because when I turn wall unit on, it’s coming on. I thought, “Why is it not getting cold?” I paid for another service myself to come out, and they told me that it had never been installed. That’s when I went back to Home Shield to let them know. Overall, the service hasn't been beneficial at all, and I should have done it myself. I would probably do a better job.

They're not fixing things, or if they can't fix it, they're not replacing it like they originally agreed to.     I had my AC go out and while American Home Shield was very understanding and quick to approve of the claim, they had to ship parts. The shipping of the parts was taking over two weeks. Meanwhile, I have no AC at the house and I live in Arizona where it's over 110 degrees. I tried to see if there was some type of alternative plan. Unfortunately, there wasn't so I had to get a hotel. I had to do other means while waiting for the parts. If the part is over a certain amount, they ship it out instead of letting the contractor purchase their part and get reimbursement while it's on hand here.

    I was recommended American Home Shield because they are of more value for what I pay as far as coverages go. I had 2-10 before but the coverages were better with American Home Shield. I have a couple of gripes with the home warranty but overall, I'm satisfied. The tech I had for my AC was very quick and professional.

    Our freezer had stopped working and the plug had stopped working. I didn't know that the plug was attached to another plug that had the trip button and the trip button was off. It was a stupid mistake on my end and the tech was knowledgeable. But there are a lot of stuff that American Home Shield says they cover and then end up not covering. Our water heater broke and they told us it would take three weeks to get a new water heater, so we ended up having to buy a new water heater so that we could get hot water. We almost canceled our membership after that. We’re still frustrated.

    I like that American Home Shield offered the warranty also on appliances that I have and the different options. I haven't had any issues with them as far as when I need service. It's been timely, and I get who I need. My hot water heater went out. The techs said the electrical line was too short. They refused to put the new heater in until I got that extended. I was able to get somebody to come and do it that day to extend the wire, but then it was a couple of days before they could come back out and install the hot water heater. They replaced it and I like that it works.

    American Home Shield’s timeliness has been good. If I request for service, I get a notice back that says 24 to 48 hours. But usually, it's back within an hour. Somebody's already provided and then, I communicate with them. I've used AHS for the fridge and the ice maker and the second time was for a dryer timer. Both were done great. So, I had no issues. The tech from Razorback Appliance was awesome. He was friendly and courteous. He was an older individual but he was willing to work with when I wanted him to come out. AHS is a little pricey but I’d recommend them.

    My first bad experience with American Home Shield was when my microwave went out in 2020. It didn't get repaired until 2021. One guy came in during covid. I told him to take his shoes off. I could tell in his face he was pissed. He told me he'd fix it and I would hear from the company then he left. He didn't check anything. It was not even five minutes that he stayed here. They called me and said that it couldn't be fixed because it needed to be lifted up. American Home Shield sent another company. The two women that worked were very sweet. However, when they put the parts in, the parts were no good. They said they would be back Thursday. But no parts came in, so they didn't come back. It took them about a month and a half.

    When it was time to renew my contract, I told them I was not going to do it. They were not fixing my microwave and I had to get somebody else to come on. The rep said he was gonna give me a discount and he'd make sure that my microwave would get repaired. I asked who was gonna refund me my $100? He told me the first time I have something broken, they were gonna deduct the $100 that I spent. My air conditioner went out last week. A repairman came last Friday to repair it. He said it was a little wiring. But the woman told me I had a deductible for $100. I asked, "Do you have anything in writing that I'm supposed to have $100 free?" She said no.

    I called American Home Shield again when I couldn't open up my garage. They said they were gonna send me somebody. The contractor came out yesterday. They told me what's wrong with it is not on the warranty. I have to pay $250. My car has been in the garage since it went out. When you get these warranties, they don't send you anything to show what's covered and what's not. It's not good service. American Home Shield can do better than that. I've been telling folks about American Home Shield and I already know how they're gonna treat the ones I've sent to them.

    I've had a very good experience with AHS. For my recent claim, anytime I tried to wash, the washer would overflow into the garage and flow out the garage. The technicians that came out were two guys, an older guy and a younger guy. He was teaching the younger guy. They did that snake thing and the drain where the stack was. He checked to see the sewer and he said the sewer was plugged. So, he did both of them. They were in and out of there in split second. They knew exactly what to do and it was over. It's now functioning great.

    American Home Shield is a complete scam. I had a plumbing issue that ruined my downstairs. The tech fixed the commode and found some of the water had leaked. I didn't know that they weren't gonna fix the hole but the guy told me they were gonna fix it because he had me take pictures. So, I have no confidence in Home Shield whatsoever. Plus, before that, my air conditioning went out. I got screwed over. My wife was bedridden and I had somebody else call Home Shield for me. I couldn't take care of my business so I found somebody who could but I should have called them first as that's how I ended up spending $10,000. Home Shield told me, "Go to hell." I'm trying to get somebody else right now.

They came out pretty fast within three or four days, but then they had to order parts. That took about three weeks.     American Home Shield sent the dishwasher, and they have some rules where they can't replace with additional hoses. First, they sent it where the vendor came, and he checked. As per the rules, they can't put the additional hose. I understand. But there is already an additional hose with the old dishwasher. And he said, “Call it. They will send some plumber.” I spoke. And they sent some plumber. He said he took the address during the long weekend. But he said he didn’t have the order. Again, I followed up with the customer representative. He spoke to him. And that day, he said he’s not covering my house area. So, it has been one week he took to tell that he’s not covering that area. I was upset. AHS put one more order to somebody to come and install the dishwasher. I need to follow up with them today. It has been four days, I didn’t see any progress with that.

    I'm not satisfied with American Home Shield because I just put in a work order for my AC unit and I still haven't heard back from them. The guy came out and saw a wire was loose and the same wires were touching other components, and the board needs to be replaced. But I haven't heard from anybody about that. Before I called, Home Shield already closed out the job without the company even telling them what was wrong with the unit. So now, the company is waiting on Home Shield to close out this job so they can come in here and charge the hell out of me. The AC company was supposed to be sending over what parts they needed to order. But that was three days after they came out here.

    When I had a water problem flow, the plumbers that came out were excellent. It was just the Home Shield part of it dragging their feet and making it go over 30 days. I had to call them and I also had to wait on the county to come over here and check the water pressure and the water lines. When they got back to me, they told me that it had been 30 days and that they could no longer do anything about my water heater. So I had to send them another $100 for the plumbers to come out here, and they replaced components in the water heater. It’s running okay right now.

    I love American Home Shield’s service, and I would highly recommend them. I call this number I have, tell them what I want and they’ll say a contractor will call me back. Fortunately, the plumbing is the only thing I’ve had an issue with. I had had another service and had them out to fix my bathtub. I already was paying a monthly fee to them, then they said, “It’s gonna cost you thousands of dollars to fix this. It’s really too hard to fix.” It’s in a bathtub that I don't use very often, so I let it go for a couple of years.

    I got the guy out from American Home Shield, and he said, “Oh, this is normal. This is easy.” The other guy didn't want to do it, or he was too stupid to do it. The guy from American Home Shield said, “This is a Moen faucet. This is what happens to them all the time.” He had the part, fixed it, and it was done. I was pleased with that. I'm also having trouble with my toilets, and they have come out several times. As a matter of fact, they're due to come out today, trying to fix it, but maybe there’s not a fix for it. It’s not anything major, but they have really tried. As far as I’m concerned, that’s just fine.

    I sent in a claim and the plumber would not call me back. He would not pick up. We finally got connected and he was supposed to come, but he came at an earlier scheduled time, so we couldn't meet. After that, I called American Home Shield. I asked them if we could change the folks because these guys were not responding, and I've always had that issue to reschedule. But they said they couldn't do that and that it's in the policy and to give them one more try. I gave them one more call. But then at that point, American Home Shield had put in something where it was a redo.

    The gentleman at the plumbing company said, “Because it’s showing as redo, we cannot come out. Because it dings us saying that we already came once, and we didn’t fix it, and now we’re coming back.” So then I called American Home Shield again. At that point, I was pretty frustrated.     The only problem I've ever had with them was when it came to my air conditioning. Whenever it gave up on me, it was always because it needed Freon and AHS was paying some ridiculous amount for a pound of Freon. That meant that as a consumer, I had to pay 90% of whatever the cost was. This was outside of the tech visit. As a result of that, I stopped doing business with them and started with another company.

    I was with the other company for a little while and then I received something from AHS. Depending on which plan I signed up for, they offered unlimited Freon. I decided to jump with it and I was under the impression that my service visit cost would be $75 per visit for whatever went wrong. I called a couple of weeks ago because my garage was acting up. the tech fixed the garage and I'm happy. But was told that the visit was going to be $100, which didn't make any sense to me. Also, the cost of the monthly payment went up by 50%. I called to cancel based on that and the person I spoke with sent me to the retention department.

    I explained to the rep why I wanted to end the service. He offered to waive the fee for the service call and offered to give me a lower cost per month when my contract renewal was up. When he sent me the new contract, it still had the same price. The other day, I received the bill for the service call fee that he supposedly waived. I was under the impression that the rep I had spoken to had been untruthful about everything. I contacted AHS again and the rep assured me that it just took some time for the changes to appear in their system. She said I should just ignore the email that I received for the service. At this point, I'm just waiting to see if they keep their word. For the experiences that I've had with them outside of air conditioning, I was pleased and satisfied.

    I have the warranty and I used it when our AC stopped blowing cold air. It was only blowing hot air. I did this claim through the American Home Shield website and that was perfect. It was very easy and manageable. I was given the service provider and their contact information. We received a text message stating that they will call us. But most of the time, we have to call the service provider.

    Doctor Cool was the contractor assigned to us and their people were very professional. The only concern was the time delay, especially when you're going through a hot summer. The time could be a little bit faster for service because I was without air for two weeks in 120-degree weather. The first time they were out here took a week. The second time took about another week. The first time they came, they added Freon into the system. When the AC stopped blowing hot air, I called them back out. The second time that they came out, they said it had something to do with a thermostat in the attic that was causing the AC to not give enough Freon to the system and causes it to continue blowing hot air.

    I had to call for service again because the breaker's popping on the AC unit. It's been popping since they fixed it. We thought it was just because of the heat but it's getting worse and worse. I did a little research on it and if I keep continuing flipping the switch, it can actually burn down my house. The issue is still ongoing. Any time a service provider comes out, they need to really diagnose the problem and find out the issues and not just continue patchwork until the very last resort. That aside, I would recommend American Home Shield. My daughter is gonna buy her house and I told her that she needs to make sure she gets American Home Shield services because coming out of pocket is very expensive for a new washer and dryer and stove.

    I called American Home Shield when I had a problem with my dryer. The next week, midweek, American Home Shield had somebody come out only to find out that some of the parts I needed weren't replaceable. The repairman opened up the door of the dryer, looked at it not even for two minutes and told me the lint trap was bent. He went to go order that part first which was not even what I called about. I called ‘cause it wasn't getting warm and drying. Then he came back and said they didn't make those parts anymore. He went out to my driveway, made a phone call, came back and told me American Home Shield was gonna replace it. The very next day, I already had a new dryer ordered. That process was very fast.     We had a furnace go out at my rental property. American Home Shield sent a contractor and they replaced the heater. Also, the air conditioning unit started malfunctioning and I asked the same people, "Hey, do you guys do service to weatherize?". They're like, "Yeah. Your unit looks pretty old but we'll be able to do it". Sure enough, I started having issues. When the unit really started to fail, I called AHS and they sent another company called Chronister Enterprises. The blower motor kept going out because the air conditioning unit was failing. I called again for the entire summer and said, "Can you guys please take a look at the air conditioning unit?" The guy was like, "Nope, that's not it. Your tenant let the filter get sucked into the thing." That didn't sound right. My tenants went through the entire summer with a newborn baby in the house with no air conditioning.

    Finally, I called AHS and I told them, "Look, these guys are not working. And this other company, that was amazing. I don't want this other company to work. Can we go back to the other contractor, JP Plumbing?" They said, "But your current contractor has already accepted the job to replace your unit". I said, "No. I don't trust them." and that was it.

    JP Plumbing was wonderful to work with. They were informative. I had to get the blower motor exchanged twice. There was some coil that was freezing or not freezing and dumping a ton of water, and that's what was going at the blower motor. Any technician should have said, "Oh, we can't just keep replacing this part and charging for it. We need to replace the reason that it's breaking in the first place" which is what the previous contractor did not do. So, I love JP Plumbing and heating.

    AHS has been pretty good. They've been responsive. There have been a couple of issues where a contractor was not calling me back and they got in touch with him right away. I wish that we didn't have to outsource the call center, but that's the price of doing business.

    The rekeying guy was great. But every time I call American Home Shield, with the exception of the rekeying, the contractor they have always comes out constantly looks at his watch. He has 15 minutes to actually do the service call. He often claims that he couldn't do the work, it's not covered. And ends up leaving without doing anything. And I spend $75, and it's not resolved. It has been a disappointment. Even though it was free to me, I'm still paying $75 for somebody to come out to do nothing.

    We've had a policy with AHS for six years right now. We have three houses now that are under AHS. The last time they came out to our house, was for the capacitor. They also went to one of our rental houses. The time when we had air conditioning off completely at the house, that took a total of three weeks in July and it was really hot. It was four days before they could even get out there.

    We also had an issue with one of our built-in refrigerators in the springtime, where it took five months to get taken care of because they kept on saying it was a wine cooler. I sent them a verification that they had worked on it a year before. It specifically stated it was a built-in refrigerator on their work order. I sent the model number in and stats on the manufacturer on it, stating it was a refrigerator. They continued to argue that it was a wine cooler, even though every piece of paper we had shows it was a refrigerator. We made 40 phone calls to them. It was a debacle.

    The first guy that came out looked at the product and said, “Oh, no, that’s a wine cooler.” He turned around and left. Didn’t even look at anything. They refused to have somebody else come out besides that one guy. The second one looked at the information from the first service call. It was the same thing. I said, “I want you to open that refrigerator or open the door on that and you look inside. You see what products are in there, and you take the model number, and you will see it's a refrigerator.” He would not do that either.

    We called somebody else who had worked on it before ‘cause we had the work order. They said, yes, it was a refrigerator. We sent that copy in. I was very upset about that. They also have very poor service. The wait time to get a service call is sometimes extremely long. There are also so many disconnections. Even after 20 minutes, all of a sudden, the line would go dead, then you'd have to start all over.

    I had my dishwasher worked on recently and it was perfect. The tech showed up when he was supposed to and he was awesome. He didn't have the part so he called one of his buddies. They didn't have a part either. He said they've been trying to get parts for a while. He tried another thing. He kept looking until he found the problem and fixed it. It was exactly what anybody would ever hope for. He said that the brain was not functioning properly and that he needed to put in a new motherboard. The dishwasher works 100% now. The tech told me that he works on old machines so if I have any further problems, I can actually ask for him specifically.

    One of the stove burners remained on and we had to turn the breaker off to turn the stove off. When R&D Training & Technical Services came out for their initial check on it, they had to order a part. The turnaround time was pretty good and then they came back out and fixed it. I haven't had any issues with AHS but the pricing is a bit much. They went up on the deductible that I have to pay when I file a claim.

    When the contractor came out, they examined the refrigerator, and they had to order the parts. So, something that I did towards the first of the month didn’t end up being finalized until the end of the month. They just ordered the parts for the refrigerator. I was without a refrigerator because it wasn’t getting cold. But the freezer part was somewhat cold, so I had to transfer everything from the refrigerator part as much as I could to the refrigerator part so that it would have some coolness. And once they called and said that they would bring the parts, I had to unplug the refrigerator in its entirety for 24 hours, and they came out that Monday. So when they came out that Monday to put the parts in, by that Wednesday I still didn’t receive any ice. So, I called them back and they said to do the recall. I did that, and they called back and asked me what was wrong with the refrigerator. And I told them that everything was fine as far as the coldness but it still wasn’t making ice.

    Fast-forward to yesterday, I had to call it back in after putting in a new water filter because he said that could have been the reason why it wasn't making ice. So after that was in for 24 hours, and still to no avail making ice, I called back yesterday. He called back yesterday, and said it wasn’t a recall, but we had to call the order in because they had already ordered the parts for what they thought was wrong. But it still needed more work. So, I had to pay the additional $75 for them to come back out.

    He called today to see if he would come tomorrow. And we had to do a Zoom tomorrow for the ice maker, for whether it would be the ice. But I’m afraid it’s gonna be the same thing than it was before, that they didn’t go through. We couldn’t get it to go through on his end when it came through on my end. He was like, “Well, we’ll just send a technician out.” But I had to wait another week for that. I paid the additional $75, and they still have to do a Zoom tomorrow between 1:00 to 5:00.

    The power was going out in the hall and going up the stairs. The tech came out and checked the breaker and several things. He said that it was the switch plate or the thing when you turn on the lights and he had to replace that. We did the claim with American Home Shield on a weekend and he came that Monday and assessed it. Then, he had to get some part but it was done very timely. I've had American Home Shield for almost 20 years off and on and this is the third home that I've had them. I've heard people complain about them but I've never had an issue personally.

    So far, I am liking the service of AHS. I'm comparing it with the one I had prior to this one, which was 2-10 Home Warranty, which I did not like. I left them and came to American Home Shield because their contractors were lousy. I'd have to call them back. Each time I called them back, I had to pay more money. However, I found out when one of the 2-10 representatives called that American Home Shield uses the same contractors.

    But the thing that 2-10 didn't do that American Home Shield does is follow-ups. I appreciate that they do surveys so that we can express any deep grievances that we would have against the contractors, if they did a good job or not. Because the AHS plumber had to come and do the job that one of 2-10's contractors should have done on my toilet, which was simply changing the flap. He pushed something together and left. Weeks later, I was having the same problem with my water flowing again. I did have to coach the plumber that AHS sent a little bit. But he went on and did what he had to do. Once I told him that it was more than just raising the lever inside the tank, that there was some other problem going on, he put a new floater in. I haven't had any problems since.

    I also appreciated their monthly fee, for one thing. It was less than some of the others. Even though when you have the service call, you pay more then. But still, it's a better idea because you may or may not have to have a service call, which means you may or may not have to pay the service fee. The monthly fee was reasonable, too. I am very pleased with AHS.

    I connected something and the breaker was knocked out. I restarted it and the issue happened again. The third time it happened, the breaker wouldn't come on. The tech was awesome. He explained that there was a wire that was put in and it was too thick. When I put in the outlet, it was connecting wrong. It was an older wire so that also affected it.

    But my experiences with AHS have been aggravating. We have a furnace that broke back in February and I've been trying to get the contractor scheduled since April. The contractor has been non-responsive and AHS has been escalating for the past couple of months. No one has ever gotten back to me. I end up calling and I get the same response every single time.

    Every time I tried to wash something, I'd have to come back, check, and push "spin only with drain" to get it to finish. The purpose of buying that larger drum was to be able to wash my comforter. But it was constantly going out of balance. I put in a claim with American Home Shield and a technician called me and asked me a number of questions to make sure what my situation was. What I was happy about was after speaking with me and having me describe the issue, giving him the model and serial number, he ordered the parts. The parts were mailed directly to my house, where I retained them until the technician came. The technician came, took one unused part back and sent it back to the factory. I made sure on the receipt that American Home Shield was not billed for that part. Appropriately, they were not. The other two parts were installed, and my washing machine is working fine.

    The technician was extremely professional. He let me know where he was at and when he was gonna be here. He was on time and wore a mask that entire time. He explained what his process was, what he was gonna do, and what was wrong in a way that was in plain English. I didn't have to know how to fix a washing machine to understand how he fixed it. I would recommend that technician and the service that I received. I was extremely satisfied with this particular call. I had a technician come install a ceiling fan, and he installed it dangerously so that the rotator caused the fan to blow up. This was fantastic in comparison.

    I like American Home Shield. They are good at what they do. The coverage is good. They act fast. If I have an issue, they do their best to solve it. The contractors that they assigned have been great. If there's an issue and they need to come back, they come back. Everybody's always professional and pleasant. But I don't like the fact that the prices keep going up from where it started. When I first started American Home Shield, it was $49. I know there's inflation, but it shouldn't be increased about $40. The more you use it, the higher your rate goes.

    The AC was cutting on and off. It wouldn’t get all the way cold anymore. When the technician, Brian, first came, he thought it might just need a cleaning. He cleaned it and looked it over to make sure the coils were operating. By the next day, the motor had completely stopped. He came and replaced the motor. Now, it's been back to normal, where it's not cutting off anymore. It's getting as cold as it used to get.

    I already had someone replace the water heater before I got American Home Shield. The leak happened again. When the people from American Home Shield came, they said it was not the water heater, it was the AC line. They quickly were able to diagnose that and left. I called American Home Shield back and they sent out someone to fix that AC line. It got quickly fixed. Before I had American Home Shield, I was sitting there spending a lot of money replacing an entire water heater, and that wasn't even the source of the leak. I was also finding my own technician. I did far better with the American Home Shield technicians than I did.

    Another claim with American Home Shield was for our dishwasher that needed to be repaired. Someone came and said that it needed to be replaced. American Home Shield wanted to send a master technician and make sure that it was broken but I never got contacted about that person. The dishwasher has been sitting broken. We have been hand washing the dishes since we put that request in. Other than that, they always send excellent technicians. They're always on time and seem to be reputable. Brian, in particular, is always excellent. He's the one that’s usually been sent whenever I do the tune-ups or when they send emails out to have someone come and look the unit over before the season starts.

    AHS is worth the money but it would be nice if they covered fireplaces. We had a check out to do annual service on our air conditioner and the tech said there were some issues with it. We called AHS and they sent somebody to look at it. The unit had a couple of capacitors that were going bad and they changed those out. AHS was easy to use and the tech was great. We'll probably switch our annual service over to their company when our contract runs out.

    I have a duplex, and when I call American Home Shield for a tech to look at the AC, they always look for one unit only. I’m not sure exactly what I need to tell them so they can look at both AC units. The problem is I wasn't directly at the property. I put the resident’s number because it’s a rental property, and they contacted the resident. I put both numbers, but they only contacted one. Overall, I did not have any issues. The one they checked on, they did a great job, but they did not check both units.

    I've never been more frustrated than when I'm dealing with them. They find any loophole to get out of fixing things. I had the contract pulled up and it was actually for something that we tried to fix before. We put in a request two months ago because tubing didn't match on our AC unit when it was installed. They said AC unit is working fine, not fixing it. Now the AC unit is completely broke because of the tubing not matching and they won't cover it even though I found three parts of their contract that says it is.

    Representatives don't help, escalation department is just the same people saying they are not covering it and they don't let you speak. They constantly interrupt you and don't listen. Also they don't call back. "We'll call you back in 24 hours" mean you are calling back in 48 hours with an AC unit that has been broke for over two weeks because they are unresponsive and so are the people they ask to come out and "fix" things. Save your money and just fix things yourself or go with another company. You'll be happier.

    I filed three claims with American Home Shield. The first one was for my garbage disposal that quit working. A guy came out and got it to work. A week later, it was leaking so technicians came back and put a new garbage disposal in. It cost me $200 because every time they come out, it’s $100. I could have bought a garbage disposal for a lot less than $200. After that, my ice maker wasn’t turning on it. It needed something and the technicians that came fixed that. That was another $100. I paid American Home Shield a lot of money in three months' time.

    When I first signed up with American Home Shield, that was $59. That was only for one month because for the last two months, they charged me 71. If they tell you it's going to be $59 a month, it should be $59 a month and not have no hidden fees in there. If it's only just the one month that's going to be $59, they should say that. I probably would not have minded paying $71 a month. But they were deceiving me with the $59, which means a lot to me. That’s bad business practice. On the whole, I’m happy with what American Home Shield has done but I don't know if I'm gonna keep paying them $10 more than what I should. Today, I was looking around to see if I could find some better prices.

    First off, to whomever is reading this, I urge you to read the fine print on your contract with American Home Shield (AHS). I didn’t, and I paid the price...literally and figuratively. My error in judgment cost my family over $1,000. So, let met give you some advice. Don’t believe everything the sales agent tells you over the phone. I got the PremiumPlatinum plan for $54.99 during one of their promotions. We have a 60-year-old house, so I worried about our furnace and AC breaking down. I thought it wouldn’t hurt to have some added protection. The agent told me numerous times that I would be covered “no matter what happens”. All I would be responsible for he said was the $125 service fee. Well, in my 2nd month of my 2nd year with AHS, I finally needed them for a very minor job, a leaky faucet. I thought this was the perfect opportunity to see what exactly AHS could do for me.

    As it turned out, nothing was covered. According to the contract, which I foolishly did not read word for word, AHS can deny payment for something that wasn’t properly installed or missing parts. (See Section A, paragraph 2, line b!) In the end, I paid $345 out of pocket to the plumbers, $125 for a service fee to AHS, and $654.38 for a year of coverage that got me absolutely nothing. Given that many old homes have appliances, fixtures, or whatnot installed by licensed and unlicensed contractors often incorrectly, this is a convenient out for AHS. Yes, I'm sure there are people they do help, but I'm willing to bet there a great many people like myself that ran across the same problem with them. Our shower and faucet unit came with the house. It had been working for years. How would I know that the handle was wrong or a screw was missing? We had never had any problems with it. I'm telling you, that's just not right. It's not right, and it's not fair. AHS contract ONLY favors AHS!

    American Home Shield's service was lousy up to the last one where it was very good. I just always had a difficult time dealing with them, getting calls answered, getting responses. And they have to get somebody who speaks English. Every time I say something about me, AHS just blows it off like, "Okay, all right. Well, we'll check into that." They don't check into anything. Every time I call back, it's very difficult and they are obviously reading right out of a book. They repeat everything that I say three or four different times. I've had one good experience with AHS. I think it was an air conditioner I called them for. The guy came out, took care of it and was timely and the best experience I've ever had with AHS. Everything else prior to that has been a cluster. It took them five months to fix my dishwasher.

    They got the parts that they needed and they forgot about it. And nobody from their service ever followed up. They marked it as complete. And I had to argue until my face was blue that it wasn't complete. They called me a liar, that they were already out there and they took care of it, but they hadn't. They finally found out that they hadn't. So, it has been poor.

    American Home Shield came very highly recommended. If anything goes wrong with my appliances and it's anything that can be fixed, American Home Shield will have it fixed. If not, they replace it. So far, so good. I had somebody come out here not too long ago for my icemaker and it was very nice. He was prompt. I have never had a repair guy be as friendly, as nice, and as considerate as this guy was. The ice maker in my freezer was leaking water. Because there was a hole, it was dripping water down into the ice cubes. When you get the ice cubes out, you bring chunks of ice out. He had to replace something. He was in and out of here within 25 minutes at the most.

    My upstairs unit is three to four years old, which is fairly new, and reliable. It's on a slit. There are two thermometers. The temperature is higher than what it was set at. And I could feel the air was humid. So, I did my troubleshooting. I shut down the system, threw the breaker. I went upstairs and checked the air handler and saw if water was building up. I didn't see anything. Reset it, let it go back. It still did it for two days. That night, I filed a claim with American Home Shield. Because usually, there’s a lag of 24 to 48 before a technician can come. The owner called me the next night. I walked him through it. He said it was a busy week. But that company is outstanding, so I dealt with it. I don’t want to just go to another company and have them screw up. And it was the third time I used that company.

    The technician came, did his troubleshooting. The only thing he saw that was a concern was the drain pipes from the air handler, the water backed up. So, he blew it out, cleared out the stoppage. He doesn’t know if that was what causing it or not. He did what he can. Since then, it has been running like a champ. He told me to monitor it and see how it goes for 24 hours, and call him back if it fixed it.

    The owner, every single time, called me the night before, and walked me through what the issue was. I get an opportunity to brief the owner on what's going on before a technician even comes out. And this kid, every single time, he jumped right into it, and was more than willing to sit there and talk to me about it. He was clean cut, professional, enthusiastic, very knowledgeable and patient with me. And he has always done an outstanding job. Their company has been the best ones I've found in dealing with probably 30 HVAC companies in this area for years.

    It's hit and miss with AHS. The service that they provide on their end always sound great, but then all the contractors who'd come out would say that they couldn't do the service needed. It has been an absolute nightmare to get anyone to touch my oil furnace because it's a radiant floor system and the thing is ancient. It has all cast iron pipes and would require that you get under the floors. The techs said that they couldn't get authorization to get under the floors or to change over to the other system. So I put a different work order in, but they didn’t even show up for it.

    My husband and I don't have the time to be searching around for vendors. It's easier to call someone, and the experience we had with American Home Shield was very good this time. Other experiences I've had, it's very hard to get through to anybody. We're on hold for so long. This time, we had an AC unit that didn't have enough refrigerant in it. The tech was out within two to three days, and he was a very accommodating and nice guy. He said he could have come the next day, but I wasn't available then. The first day he came, the AC was frozen solid with ice, so he had to let it defrost and melt. He had to get something, then he came back and put the coolant in with a sealer for any leaks. He said we have to see if that holds because it may not. Now, we're waiting to see if it continues to work.

    The AC compressor stopped. It took more than five days before the tech came which was way too long. It was over 100 degrees every day and it was humid. The contractor was too busy. They came all the way from Pasadena which is a two-hour drive. I wasn't happy with that part but the technician did a fine job. To make somebody wait that long in that type of heat is not worth what I pay every month for American Home Shield. They also charged me $300 more just to clean the grates on the condenser. That should have been included in the service.

    Having American Home Shield is convenient instead of trying to find different contractors to work on different things that mess up at the house. We've used them twice and the service has been great, so far. Recently, the AC unit was not cooling to what we thought it should be cooling upstairs. We had a contractor come out the first time but they didn't find anything wrong. We kept seeing a 10-degree difference upstairs than we did downstairs and we were having some hot days. We had the contractor out one more time. The tech went up in the attic. He told us nothing was wrong with the system but there are some things we could do to help the situation better. We're gonna work on that in the wintertime and see if we can get that done.

    My wife and I are very satisfied with American Home Shield. We have not had a situation yet that we've run into that they could not help us. The customer service is outstanding. The first time that I had to call them back, they didn't hesitate sending somebody out. The guy that came was very helpful and I did not have a problem with what he was telling me. They were very respectful too.

    We put in a request for service at the beginning of June. Before them, somebody else was assigned. They came in once, they never came back, they started coming. The problem was every time they would come, we have to wait a week. When they come back the next week, the guy would just leave, come back. I would have to call them. Something else broke or it needed another part. And it was like that since the beginning of June. By the end of July, I've had enough. Every time they would come, it was the same thing. It was, "No we need another part." The one time that he said, "It's fixed." He ran it for a bit. And I once used it that same night, it started leaking again.

    It started leaking to the bottom and they couldn't figure out. And he told me it's an old machine, a washer, and the part that they needed would not fit. It was two months, and I said, "I need to have it done. If it cannot be repaired, you need to let them know because that's what Home Shield has told me, that it could not be repaired." I didn't care what it was. I needed a working washing machine. And nobody could say that they could not repair it. They said, "We're gonna keep trying. We're gonna go back out." So, every time, it was make an appointment, wait for them to call me to set up a date, then they come, "Oh, we need to order a part." And it was like that week after week. They said that they could still fix it. He said, "We're not able to fix it in almost two months." Why would I wait?

    In the meantime, I have no washing machine. It did not make any sense. It was obvious they could not fix it because they have tried and tried. But at the same time, they would not recommend to AHS to have it replaced. I got fed up. AHS said, "There are others. We can send somebody else." I said, "You guys don't understand. I have made you aware because I called over a month ago." I called AHS also to tell them, "This is what's going on. I need to get to the bottom of this." So, I called both AHS and J.E.T. but nobody wanted to find a solution because they could not come to a solution on either part. I pay every month, I've had it for years, and I just needed this problem solved. I don't care if you replace or fix it. I just need something that works. At the end, he said, "We'll find somebody else."

    So, let's start from zero after almost two months. I said no. I ended up that I just got rid of it. The guy would just walk out because he barely spoke English, which is fine. The company would call and say, "Okay, wait for them to contact me to set up an appointment." And the appointment would always be for the following week. I just had to go to the store, spend the money and buy a new one. That was it. And they said they would give me a credit, but they would have to send J.E.T. back in for them to, again, give a diagnostic. I said, "Forget it. I don't need it." So, they just reimbursed me my $120 and that was it.

    We have American Home Shield on three properties and on the 1511 Lawton, Oklahoma property, it was a challenge. We would call and there would be a delay in contacting a service representative or a contractor to come out. When we would call to do follow-up, we got the same message that somebody is working on it but their response is very slow. There was a plumbing issue at one of the houses in Lawton and it took forever to repair. One of the companies that was being used, WFM, out there in that area, was dependable but they stopped doing business with American Home Shield because there were payment issues. So, we’ve only used AHS twice in 60 days. But prior to that, the service has diminished over the years.

    We've had AHS for about 11 years in our house at 1511 and probably twice as long as the Lawton home. And within the last five years, we put it on our other house in Lawton. The plumbing issue was the worst because there are no adequate contractors in our area that does business with American Home Shield that can take care of our needs. We had an issue with the garage door here recently that, although there are several garage door repair people in Lawton, we had to wait about a week because they contracted somebody from Oklahoma City, which only comes out once a week to service that area.

    A gentleman came out and looked at our washing machine. He came on time and did his job. When he was done, he let me know when he was done. He didn't talk you up but he did what he had to do. After he took a part, he said the issue was the activation switch on the door. He replaced it and the machine seemed to be working fine. We were satisfied when it worked.

    After he left, my wife started washing. When you open the machine, it would stop and when you close it, it would not start back up again. We tried a few times. If I pushed on the door and added pressure to it, it would stay running and go through the cycle. If not, as soon as you come back and sit down, you would have to get back up and press the door so it could start again. After a few minutes of that, I called the service department and they said to call American Home Shield and make another appointment. I got online and booked another appointment. We're waiting for the service company to come back out.

    When I first signed up for American Home Shield, they covered the septic tank. But when they renewed it, it was automatically dropped, and no one advised me of that. So, I had to pay out of pocket for the septic tank. But when I called to try to get it added back on, they refused. I'm gonna call back, because I got conflicting information from two different people I called. If they are going to drop somebody extra policies they have, they need to let me know. If they are no longer gonna carry me, they should have told me that at the beginning, like, "This is something temporary that we're doing." Apparently, my warranty was an old one and now they have a new one. The lack of communication on the changes to the company and the policy and the warranty is what I did not like, because that was the whole issue.

    A month later, my washer broke. Within a day, AHS assigned a contractor. They came out within a day. The tech fixed it the same day. Because I've had other warranty companies where they try on all these parts and they don't know what they're doing, and the end result is I've taken all this time off work, and they still ended up having to replace whatever the item was. So with this, I did a virtual with AHS, gave them the model number. The company called me, asked for the number verified and what was going on. They figured out what it was, came with that part and backup parts just in case. And the guy was here in an hour, fixed, done.

    I would have had to pay for somebody to come to assess the problem. Pay them just to come look, that's 100 and some dollars. Once they assess, they would have left, came back with a part and service fees. I paid $100 for my deductible. It's like car insurance. You pay it all year, whether you need it or not. But just in case, you need to pay it, because you might need it.

    American Home Shield's customer service line is quick. They get a person out as soon as possible. But when you're dealing with air, they need to come quickly because it's a manufactured home and those things get hot. A two or three-day span is not good. Certain things can wait, but not with an AC claim when it's blazing hot. We were sleeping in 90 degrees temperature.

    The thermostat doesn't stay like it's supposed to. This was the third time they came out and I told them it was the thermostat too. But they only fixed the problem that they saw. They put freon in again and there was some little part that needed to be fixed. The thermostat costs $50, $60 but we don't know how to put it in. They need to fix the issue right the first time. Every time they come out, it’s $75. They should look at it correctly and get it done in one visit. The AC is working now but there are times where the thermostat will adjust. It's 25, 30 years old. I don't have any money right now to call them back out ‘cause that's $300 I've spent for them to come in back and forth.

    The AC broke last summer in the midst of the humidity and I kept calling AHS and complaining, "It should not take this long." This time, when we had it done, our downstairs one also went out all of a sudden. So, we called back in and made a claim. When the second company came out to look at it, they said that something had been taken off of the unit. They had to do an investigation and they ended up repairing the unit. But the same company who was fixing the upstairs ended up fixing it. The second company wouldn't touch it. The downstairs one got fixed relatively quickly after the issue arose from the second company. But the upstairs one took three months to get fixed.

    Lockhart Plumbing came out for our plumbing issue recently. They were great. The tech got the job done. But in the beginning, I had an issue because I kept calling and no one was calling me back. But he was calling my husband's phone when I was the one who made the claim. My husband wasn't telling me. So, I couldn't blame that on them. But the tech did an excellent job. He found the source of the problem. When we had an issue with it because something arose the next day, he came out the next day and fixed the problem that he thought he had totally corrected. That went great.

    We had air conditioner issues. The upstairs area would not get cool. The claim process took a while 'cause there was a lot of back and forth between the contractor and American Home Shield. They came out and told me, "The refrigerant is leaking. We charged it up. Here's your bill." I asked, "You're not going to do anything to stop the leak?" They said, "We'll just have to come back out." They came back out and said, "Yeah. It's got a leak. You want to charge it up or what?" I said, "No. I want it fixed." They said, "We'll just have to condemn it. You have to have a new unit." I had to wait on equipment to get ordered. The equipment came in and it was the wrong equipment. They had to order the right equipment and it took time again.

    They showed up, put it in and did that. After they changed all the equipment, the space still doesn't get cold. Because it's not necessarily the cooling portion that is the issue, it's a ductwork issue. So I keep going back and forth on what the issue really is. For some reason, American Home Shield thinks that in Texas 95 is excessive heat, which it's not. If it's not over 95, it seems to work. But as soon as it gets over 95, it doesn't work. On their online submissions, you cannot enter comments. You can only put in one issue per thing. So if I have an air conditioner issue, then I just get to pick that it's not cooling. But the follow-up with AHS has been good. They've checked on me through the process.

    The last service related to the air conditioning was good. But the service related to the plumbing before that was poor. The repairman identified the issue and said he would come back with the appropriate new faucet. It was at least about a week's wait. He was supposed to be there at 8:00 or some reasonable time and he showed up at the end of the day. So, I tried to wait around for him. He said he was sorry but he forgot to bring the faucet with him and he would have to come back another day. The issue has not been resolved. Other than that, generally AHS's service works. The copay is reasonable.

    The ac wasn't putting out cold air as it should have been. It was working. It just wasn't working as efficiently. So, I had somebody come out and double-check it to make sure why it wasn't putting out proper air. I spoke with a person from American Home Shield. It was short and to the point. I told him what was going on, and he said, "We'll take care of it. We're gonna pull out your 75 bucks right now." The tech went through and troubleshot everything. He made sure everything was working properly. He let me know, "We changed filters in it. They were already good, but we changed them anyway," and that was it. But he came to the conclusion that it was hot enough outside that the ac wouldn't run that efficient at the time.

    We've always gotten great service from American Home Shield. We've gotten some people at our office to sign up with them. Sometimes getting people out is a little bit longer than we like, but that's not American Home Shield's issue. Recently, the AC unit in my son's apartment stopped working. It was blowing, but it wasn't cooling. Sometimes when an AC is out and it's 110 degrees outside, we want them out quickly. But it usually takes a couple days. But other than that, we've had no problems with the contractors that have come out.

    Back in June, the AC wasn't getting cool. I called American Home Shield and after several weeks, they sent Alltech out. They said it needed a new compressor so I had to wait about a month to get a compressor. They put a new compressor in and I had to pay for the Freon, which I understood was the way it was. Then days later, it was not getting cold, so I call them back. They've been out probably about 10 times. Then they said it was the coil. So then I had to pay another $500 for more Freon because they said they lost the Freon when they changed it. Now it still doesn't work. They said now it's the compressor again but they got a brand new compressor, but it was bad, and I'm still waiting.

    I love American Home Shield. They are super simple, quick and gets the job done. Typically, within a day, I have someone out when needed and it's a flat rate. When I bought this house, the previous owners didn't take care of the garbage disposal. So, it locked up. An easy way out of it was for the plumber to replace it, which was great on my end because all I had to pay was 75. A week before that, my oven went out, which also came with the house. So, it came in handy because, ultimately, I only had to pay another 75 and that company said that the part was about a little over 150. So, it's awesome to only have to pay 75 and to know that the items are either gonna get fixed or replaced.

    A tech sent out by our previous warranty provider fixed our garage refrigerator but it lasted about four years then it happened again. Donnie from Superior Appliance was sent out by American Home Shield to look at it and he found the same issue. The defrost fan went out and the refrigerator was freezing over. Donnie did a great job and was very thorough. But it was difficult to get in contact with the scheduling people. Eventually, they got back to me and right now, the refrigerator is not fixed yet, but they know what part to get. Donnie is ordering a new fan for it, if he can find one for Samsung, which is very difficult to find parts for.

They did great work and told us what the problem was and how much it would cost to fix it. They didn't pay for the repairs because of the age, so we didn't even use the end service.     The one through California Appliance Repair was okay. But we had somebody out for the washing machine and it was horrible. And the response from American Home Shield was not satisfactory either. They sent a repair guy out. He said he fixed it, and he left. I went to use it and it still wasn't working. It was having some issues. Not that the power was out. It's just it had some issues about running the cycles. So, I called them back but they couldn't even send him back. Because that was within minutes. So, they couldn't send him back that day.

    And we didn't hear from them. My husband finally had to get ahold of AHS to say, "What the heck's going on?" "They ordered a part." "How do you know what part to order? Because you had just been out here." He knew what part to order. So, we had to wait a week to get the part. He came out and he installed that, but it still didn't work. And they said it would be another week for a new part. We waited three weeks until we finally said, "To hell with it. We'll just get a new washing machine." I always feel like they hire or do the least possible to try to just get through something. They need more of a sense of urgency that when people call, they need something done.

    It was 120 degrees, and I couldn't get an air conditioning repairman to come out. So, I called one on my own. Because I couldn't get through to American Home Shield and it was super hot. But they wouldn't pay for the repair because I didn't go through them. And I said, "Well, I couldn't get through and it was really super hot." That was the only problem I had, and that was a couple of years ago. I've just kept it all these years because it has come in handy. Especially the house that we owned before was built 70 years ago. And my husband passed away, so I had to have somebody to repair things. It seems expensive for the times that I've used them. But you never know what's going to break.     I did not like American Home Shield the first year I had them. We had an issue with our refrigerator that we called in in March. Through the first contract, they couldn't get it fixed. They kept sending this incompetent company to our house over and over again. I kept complaining to them and telling them the company they sent didn't know what they were doing. They were looking up on YouTube how to do it. They made the refrigerator worse than what it was before they came in. Every time I tried to call customer service, they were all busy. I could never get anybody other than the first person. They said, "You have to talk to the people who we sent over." Every time I called them, I couldn't get past the dispatcher who couldn't let me talk to anybody in charge in their company, and I'd have to talk to American Home Shield.

    It wasn't until I renewed where I told American Home Shield, "I would only renew if you fix my refrigerator, but you got to send a different company." They sent a different company and it appears that the gentleman who came over from the different company fixed the refrigerator. But it was about seven months with a broken refrigerator that I couldn't get fixed. For the contract, American Home Shield should have offered the replacement on it. But they didn't which was very frustrating. I'm glad now that it is fixed because we liked the refrigerator but American Home Shield needs to address having better response to their customers and also on how issues are escalated. It's so unsatisfactory.

    The AC wasn't working. The air handler was on but it was not blowing cold air. It happened on a weekend and Yantra said they would come out on Tuesday but I asked them if they could expedite it. I was off on Monday and they were able to fit me, which was good. If AHS could have a contractor in the AC industry that works on a weekend and they wanna charge extra money, I would pay to have a faster response on the weekend.

    American Home Shield provides good quality and rapid help. They helped my parents out with an air conditioner, a microwave and a washing machine. I would strongly recommend them to others especially if they are retired and don't have a lot of income coming in because it's easy to afford the $65 a month, but it's hard to afford $500 to fix something. Recently, the switch on the toilet wasn't working. I couldn't shut it off. There was also dripping coming from above. I called American Home Shield and a plumber came out and fixed it. But there was a washer missing. They thought they replaced it, but it was still running a little bit. As soon as I called them, they immediately rescheduled an appointment to come fix it again. They're coming back again today. I would highly recommend them. Even though it ended up having to be repeated, it wasn't their fault. They had no problem repeating it. In fact, the second time I repeated it now, I don't have to pay my $100 again.

    I've always taken American Home Shield as I moved on to another location. The people are usually very genuinely nice. I had T.J. Plumbing out here and the young man that came out was excellent. They need to get more of him. He went above and beyond and helped me move the refrigerator. I've tried other warranty companies and American Home Shield seems to be the most consistent in terms of repairs and getting it done eventually. I don't like that I have to wait a long time to get things repaired, though. When I submit a claim, they would send a tech somewhat delayed and even when they send a technician out, the tech has to order the part for whatever is needed and they take a long time to repair. I recently had a washer-dryer claim and it took over two months to get the actual repair done. But when you look at the other warranty companies, it's about the same or maybe worse in some cases.

    Sometimes the order is not placed accurately as well. If I have a problem with the upstairs and downstairs bathrooms, I'm smart enough to know to bring that up on the call. If I do it that way, I don't have to pay for several services. But we had situations where we did that and the agents confirmed it to find out later when the technician came out that the order was not set up correctly according to the way they said it would be. Getting that fixed was a nightmare because, when the technician came out, they don't want to do the additional work because it was not on the work order. I called real time to get the other issue added and no one could help me. I made several phone calls to try to get it rectified.

    They ended up charging an additional fee because I had to have another technician come out to repair what should have been on the original work order. Getting someone to credit back that $75 is a nightmare. I had to reach out to their corporate office after tons of phone calls. Then, someone was calling me at 12:00 midnight my time for resolution. It's like they don't have a process for resolving something if it gets broken and the people were very robotic and scripted.

The Sears guy came out and assessed the dryer, and concluded that it was something internally wrong. He fixed it. He explained to us what the problem was.     LA Appliance was assigned to our claim and they didn’t call the day that I got the email. They didn’t call the following day either. I reached out to them and they scheduled a virtual appointment the following day. I was told they were going to submit for approval to Home Shield and once they got approval, they would contact me. It was about a week and a half later that they contacted me and scheduled an appointment for another week. The date of my scheduled appointment, they called to reschedule because they couldn't come out. Meanwhile all that time, I've had no washer and I have four kids at home. I had to go to the laundromat or go to my older kids’ home. It was just a mess.

    I was very upset and frustrated. I contacted Home Shield and let them know what was going on. I spoke with a gentleman and I asked him how they picked their contractors. He said he had no clue. It’s just sad that Home Shield had somebody like LA Appliance representing them. The gentleman was very kind and understood my pain. He tried to see if there were other contractors that they could assign my claim to that could come out. Antares Appliance would be able to come out on Friday. I took my chance on this contractor and I'm glad I did. Their guy called me, came out, and looked at the washer the same day. By Friday, he already knew what was going on and submit it to Home Shield. They approved it and on Tuesday, the part came in. On Wednesday, the tech was here and fixed the washer. Throughout the process, the tech updated me.

    The air conditioning unit is blowing air but not cold air. Mr. Freeze was assigned to me but nobody has called. I called last night and I held on the line for 15 minutes. Finally, a recording came on to say, “Leave a message.” I had a claim before that for a different air conditioner that was leaking and that one was fine. The service person came and cleaned the unit. He said it was the drain backing up. He fixed that and it hasn't leaked since.

    My washer was leaking and I need a part replaced on my boiler. It turned out that a pipe was rusted and it needs to be replaced. But when the individual came to check it out, he said that our expansion tank was bad and leaking, and it caused the rust of the part that we need to replace. The expansion tank was covered by the warranty but because the rusted pipe was secondary to the expansion tank, it wasn't covered and the tech said the charge was going to be $652. It was a $60 part and to have it replaced would be $652? That was extremely high.

    We had the people who installed the washer, Boomer, come out and they were only going to charge us $300 for that. Had we not already had Boomer come out to know what they were trying to charge us, somebody somewhere would have thought that $652 a normal price to pay and it was not. 300 was even too high for what needs to be replaced and it's almost double what the company that American Home Shield sent out said. So, we'll have to find somebody else to replace that part.

    The service has been good so far. Everybody that has come to my house has been wonderful. I had to get my air conditioner replaced and that was $7,000. AHS did not cover any of that so I don't know if I got scammed. The techs were coming out to fix it for the second time and they had all this stuff in front of me and I got nervous. I bought a new air conditioner 'cause I was told to. Come to find out they billed me and not Home Shield. But that was the only part I did not like. I was told that was covered.

    The recent claim for my washer and dryer unit combo was great. The Appliance Connection tech fixed everything and he was super nice and very respectable. He didn't tear up my house like some of the other techs. He also fixed everything that previous people had broken or just put back together.

    Our air conditioning system stopped working. American Home Shield sent Northern Air and when came out, they checked the different devices and found that it was a switch not activating completely. So, it wasn't turning on the outside cooling units. They replaced that device, and it has been working fine since then. The tech did give us a call. They also called when they said they were heading out. They were here about 20 minutes after that. So, we had plenty of notice, and it wasn't unexpected at all. They were right on time right when they said they would be. They did a good job. They weren’t really loud and noisy. They didn't track anything through the house. They explained what happened, what was wrong with the piece, what they replaced, and went on their way.

    Every time I came home, water was on the floor. My AC unit would filter out. My claim went very well. Once the tech got here, he knew what the problem was and he put a new pump on and one of those big pipes. He said the unit was stopped up and he had to put a new pipe. He also put a new filter in and sat there and watched the unit do the filter and it worked. He advised me to clean my filters out every six months. He did an excellent job. AHS is very efficient. I'm glad I got them because they are very good.

    My air conditioning system downstairs had gone out. The techs determined that it was the compressor and that there were a couple of items that I would need to purchase that were not a part of what American Home Shield called compliance items. There was also the Freon. Early August, I called American Home Shield and upgraded my service. I made this service request later. The problem was they could see that my plan had been upgraded to platinum but the rep that put it in didn't do something correctly. I spoke with Stephanie and she said, "Either she didn't save it or she didn't do something right in the system, so it wasn't showing up... She put the dates wrong."

    I said, "No, I talked to her. She was very clear, and we were very clear about the contract that upgrade and what I needed to do and it was extended and so forth." I didn't want to be penalized for that. I got off the phone with the understanding that this was done correctly. I took the picture in the portal and she didn't send the contract. Stephanie said she would be making the changes as we spoke.

    I was recording the conversation and she told me to go ahead with my claim. I said, "I've got one out there, but the man's confused, because you all are telling him I did not have platinum, and you're telling me that I did." She said to have the service company call American Home Shield. I did that. I didn't hear back. During my conversation with Stephanie, I told her that sending the service company an email does nothing. I said, "I've got the documentation that it was upgraded with the date, you all are telling them something else." Stephanie said "No, no, that's because it hadn't been corrected. But it's corrected now. And when he calls, it will show that you have the platinum."

    When I called the tech, American Home Shield still hadn't called and he was a little frustrated himself. I called American Home Shield, and at this point I said, "I'm done. This is ridiculous. No one should have to go through this. If your staff is unfamiliar with the process, then don't put your paying customers through this. It's extremely frustrating. And I'm still in an 85 degree house, and I'm still paying you all. It's very frustrating."

    I called back again the day before yesterday, and a gentleman said that the issue was taken care of but the service company would have to call me. I said, "You are the ones that told him one thing, so I feel like you all should let him know." The gentleman said he would send the service company an email to let them know. This was the day before yesterday. I would never ever recommend American Home Shield. I've got platinum service but had the worst customer service experience.

    I've used my American Home Shield policy three times. And this was the first time they did what I asked them to do. In my bathroom, I had a light fixture over the primary mirror, in the primary bedroom. I called because the box was pulling away from the wall. I have a buddy of mine who did a lot of carpentry DIY stuff. He said, “You need an electrician to fix this ‘cause of all the wires.” That was the issue. It was pulling off of the wall and just needed the techs to come fix it. They were kind, transparent, and worked quickly.

    AHS claims to be very specific in what is covered versus not covered in the two times I had used them previously. I have them for a catastrophic failure. I had a plumbing issue. It was a valve flow meter and they couldn't fix it under AHS. They told me they would. But they said, after conversation, that they wouldn't be able to cover it. So, I had to spend more than an annual policy to get it fixed. They're super responsive, which I appreciate, but they're bad in about 500.

    The guy from Gibson Air came out and once he checked the AC, he left and said, “Everything's fine. If you have any more problems, give us a call.” Nothing was fine though. Either he kept the fan on the unit outside off or it wasn't working, because it wasn't getting cooler in the house. It was nighttime, ‘cause we were the last people he saw, and we had no recourse until the next day. We called Gibson Air the next day and said, “Hey, look, the guy left. The house is hot.” “Oh, well, you probably need a compressor.” We said, “Okay. So, are you guys gonna order it or what?” “Oh, he probably ordered it.” “Okay. How long is this gonna take?” “Five days.” We called our homeowners insurance to see if somebody was gonna help cover our expenses, because we can't live here. They didn't cover it. American Home Shield didn't either. We figured, “Okay, they said it’ll be a week. We'll get a hotel room for a week.”

    My wife, my dog and I ended up being in a hotel for two weeks. After $1,000 on that, we couldn't afford it anymore, so we camped in our garage, trying to manage. Finally, the guy came out, put the part in and said, “It's working fine, but it won't stay on. We'll need an electrician to come out.” So, we had to pay another $100 for an electrician to come out and say, “Oh, it was just a loose wire.” He tightened up the wire, and the thing worked.

    The technicians that have been sent out were cordial, but they were not informative. We didn't get good information from the first guy at all. He could have told us when he left, “The condenser is bad, and we're gonna have to order a new one.” We had to call Gibson Air back and they didn't reassure us on anything too. We were constantly calling them to find out what was going on, and they were telling us, “Oh, we haven't heard from them yet.” “Oh, we're not sure.” “Another week.” It ended up being three weeks. We also had to call American Home Shield, ‘cause they didn't call us either, and found out from them what was going on with the part. Because then we found out that they ordered the part, and it was not expedited.

    We were hot, and the lady from some foreign country said, “I wish I could help you. Hahaha.” I don't need that, and I don't see the hahaha. I’m totally dissatisfied, and I would never recommend American Home Shield to anyone ‘cause we're not getting any resolution. I'm still wondering who's gonna help us here, ‘cause we've got an old AC unit. This is the seventh time we've had somebody out for this AC unit. We've been displaced many times, and it's getting ridiculous. Are they gonna resolve the problem? Get a new one? What are they gonna do? This is not fair for us to have to shell out thousands of dollars to stay someplace because they can't get the parts in. It's over 110 degrees out here daily and we have to try to live in that.

    My stove was replaced and the techs were very helpful. They completed the job and answered all questions. I had to pay out of pocket because of the tubing that all the gas line was in. I was told to contact American Home Shield and that they will cover the cost. I like my service with American Home Shield. It’s an easy thing. I make a payment and techs come out.     Originally, I had put in a work order back in May for my AC that was not blowing. American Home Shield sent a company and it took a whole week before they could even come. They said they had replaced the compressor and that they had put in Freon into the system. Not even 30 days later, I had to put in another work order because the AC wasn't working again. That same company came out the next time, and then they said that the compressor fan was broken and all this other stuff. American Home Shield at first denied the claim and tried to say that we sabotaged the system, which didn't make any sense as it's 100 degrees outside. But that's what the original company said when they came.

    I told AHS that I needed another opinion so Anytime Cooling came. They did a good job. They were there when they were supposed to and took pictures of everything. They were able to get everything approved for them to fix it. They got the parts ordered. But, only certain stuff is covered by the warranty. As soon as I found out that I had to pay my portion, I paid that part so they could fix the air conditioner. They replaced the compressor area outside, and then they did some upgrades to my furnace too.

    Everything is working pretty well but the other day, the fan wasn't blowing. So, I might have to have an electrician come because the problem might be electrical to where the fuse is blowing.

    I've been with AHS for two years now. The first year, I was not pleased with it. I had a lot of trouble with getting through to anybody, through customer service. There were a lot of discrepancies between my policy and my payments. It took me almost five months before I was able to rectify that issue. Since then that I've been able to rectify, it's been a better relationship.

    But AHS definitely could use improvement with the customer service component of it. You speak to one representative, and then if they have to get back to you, they're slow in responding. The second thing is that if you call about an issue, either the people are not taking notes or it doesn't seem to reflect on your account. So, when a customer calls in, there is a repeat of the same information several times. Also, there's no real consistency in regard to their packages. I had to have a water heater replaced. That was one of the issues that I had a problem with. But most recently, my microwave claim went smoothly with not a lot of complications.

    Water was coming inside and the plumber told me that he needed to dig in there to fix it. But he said that it was outside the house. I called the city and their people came to my house and dug a big hole outside. They replaced everything and I thought everything was gonna be done. But the problem is still there. I called the city again and their people brought a camera inside. They showed me that the problem was in the house. It’s a tube that is not down and that was why the water was coming inside.

    I need another plumber to come in and look at the problem. But American Home Shield has not sent another one. I called many times and nobody gave me a solution. The city also told me that when a plumber comes, he would have to call the city. They can come over here or they can explain what is going on over the phone. I really hope that American Home Shield can fix this. I pay a lot of money to them every single month and I just live by the Social Security.
