The first claim that I filed with American Home Shield was to fix the garage door. They sent a technician out here, but they were unable to resolve it. I had to call someone on my own to get it resolved. That experience wasn't very good. Recently, I was having an AC issue. The first contractor that came out made some adjustments but it didn't fix it. We had to call back and they came out a second time. Now we're waiting on a part. We're still unresolved at this point.

American Home Shield is very responsive to any problems that I've had so far. I had an electrical problem where my lights outside my garage didn't have the right voltage. They had 90 volts go into them instead of 120. AHS sent out an electrician that went up in the attic and found some things where someone had installed a switch to a photoelectric eye, but they had done something wrong with the way they installed it, and he repaired it and got it right. Also, my air conditioner was acting up to where it was coming on constantly. When it was cool outside, it was still coming on and trying to cool the house. They sent a guy out and he went up there and fixed everything that needed to be fixed and now it's working great.

I've had a policy with American Home Shield going on a month and their service is excellent. They already paid me over $2,000 for my dryer and refrigerator. It was giving the technician some code and he couldn't figure it out. He said that by the time he fixes it, it's not going to be even worth it. So, he got in contact with AHS and they immediately sent me an email. They gave me options if I wanted cash or to buy it from their appliances. They have a list of appliances as well but they didn't have the ones that I had. So, I chose a Lowe's gift certificate for the same amount. They give you the same amount it's worth, not depreciated either from day one. So they gave that to me for both and I'm doing good. That was the best choice that I made.
I love warranties now. It saves you money and if you've got kids and things break down, this can help out with things going bad. They’ll send somebody out. The warranty helps clear out all the setbacks and it's peace of mind. Right now, I'm totally satisfied with them. I haven't had any ups and downs and they came through in the clutch, immediately too. I only paid once. I could have scammed AHS and then dropped their policy. But they're a company of their word and they stand by it. So, I will always stay with them.

I had a very good experience with them. The techs came early and they fixed an aircon. I'm a senior with low income and I like that I have somebody who can help me with my appliances. They're very professional and they get right back to me.

A leaky ice maker created a giant build-up of ice and the repair guy pulled it apart and redirected the feed. It didn't leak after that. He put some extra sealant around the areas that could potentially leak and he was done probably within an hour. I have a ton of appliances so it seems like something's always breaking and they're not even old. So, it's frustrating. I have a standalone ice machine and the company came out. The guy is super nice and has been out here before. He diagnosed it and ordered the parts but the parts were hard to get. They followed up with me a couple of times. So, that's been very good. But it’s been two months waiting on parts for this standalone ice machine. It's not American Home Shield's fault. They have been good. It's the supply chain or the shortage of parts for this particular appliance that are annoying.
American Home Shield is an added level of protection that I like. They're very responsive and usually gets somebody to give me a call to come check it out right away. American Home Shield at one point sent a guy to fix my stove and he came and diagnosed it and said he was going to order the parts. Then, a month later, he said he doesn't fix those. I don't know why he did that but what that did was put me so far behind. American Home Shield was good about getting somebody else to come out here. So, the only negative feedback I've ever given American Home Shield is about that contractor. That was a very just unacceptable move right there.

When I have a claim, I call and I hope always to talk to Tristan or some guy that's really good. I set it up and they call and send someone out. I know American Home Shield uses different people, but I didn't realize they use different companies. I like it for them to all come from one place. Still, I've had excellent care. The last guy that came out did the refrigerator, stove and microwave, and he was great. The person that's coming to fix the dishwasher is from a different company, and I also really like him.
Having American Home Shield is good. I've never had it before, but a lot of people here have had them for years. So, I just decided to trust that because I've been in my house 40 years and it was time I get a few things fixed. All my appliances aren't 40 years old. I've just never had to deal with it because I always had a husband that could fix it or it was a quick fix. It wasn't something broken.

I had American Home Shield when I was a renter from 2007 until 2010 and once I become a homeowner, I got them as well. I don't have any complaints. Stuff breaks and it's easier to pay a $100 service fee than it is to pay a $200 service fee to a company and then to also have to pay for the parts. With AHS, I pay a $100 service and I’m covered. It seems though that lately, it takes a little longer to get service done than it used to such as getting the technicians in here. But I’m happy with AHS. I've used them for years and I will continue to use them.

My garage door would not go back and forth and the contractor couldn’t come out until three days. They were booked but I understand that. The guy fixed it and it’s working fine now. It was just a broken piece.

American Home Shield was quick to assign a contractor to come out, but it has been two weeks that I haven't heard back as to what would happen next. I submitted a claim for a washer, dryer, and dishwasher, but the dishwasher had to be a separate claim. Two or three Mondays ago, Whirlpool came out and said they had their claim for the washer, not the dishwasher. But AHS said they would come out for the dishwasher, and I said, "No, they didn't look at the dishwasher. They looked at the washing machine." And Miss Appliance came out and saw the washing machine. But no one has come out to look at the dishwasher.

We’ve used American Home Shield a handful of times, and we’ve only had one bad experience. That was with the person they contracted with, who was writing up an offer for an AC unit and telling us our AC unit was broken and needed to be fixed. We had a second opinion come in, and we’re still using that same AC unit instead of spending almost four grand out of pocket. It was a terrible experience. But the rest have been great. Recently, I had issues with the dishwasher. It smelled bad, and it ended up being having to do with the dishwasher and the garbage disposal. There was tubing from the disposal to the dishwasher and the way that it was put in was incorrect, so water and food was sitting in the tube. That was the issue with the smell. The guy fixed the tube, cleaned it out, and the smell was gone.

We had a little gas leaking. It was quite an old water heater, so it was time to replace it and American Home Shield replaced it. The process was very efficient and nicely done. American Home Shield had to ship the water heater to the contractor. Once they got it, it was the next day they put it in, so I'm very pleased with the service. I've been pleased with American Home Shield's service coverage as well.

The benefit of having American Home Shield is I only have to pay $100 for someone to come out and fix something no matter what it is and it's totally covered under the home warranty. That is a huge plus. Whenever I have a problem, I need to set up an appointment with American Home Shield and I am able to do so because they are open 24 hours a day. I go to their app and it has at the top where I can do a service request and I just hit that. That's easier for me because there is no telling what time of the day it is or where I'm at. I'm asked if the claim is for the kitchen, washer, or dryer. I just submit and that's it.
I called for service because when I came home one day from work two weeks ago, there was no cold air. I called on a Saturday and a tech came on a Monday, which was a holiday. He was there around 8:00 in the morning and assessed what the issue was. He went to the attic, which goes through the garage. He said there was a leak in there. He's going to locate the leak and then put some Freon in. But he didn't have what he needed so he's coming out tomorrow, which is Wednesday, to do that.
On the whole, I have not been dissatisfied with the service at any time that I have requested service from American Home Shield. My daughter has a house and she also has American Home Shield's service. My other daughter who is purchasing a home will be having that service too. That's something that our family is having.

We had a problem with our dryer. We called American Home Shield and had a representative come. Everything turned out well and the problem was resolved. There was one other claim we had for a compressor of our heat pump and that went very well too. Having American Home Shield is very convenient because we have multiple kinds of appliances in this house and the home warranty seems to be able to cover that spectrum. We're happy.

I saw some black smoke on the top of my wall. The gentleman who came out said that whoever mounted the microwave supposedly didn’t mount it correctly. And I said, “Then why it looks like it was a fire thing?” And he said, “That’s part of the grease.” ”Grease? I don’t cook with grease here.” He said, “But when you use the microwave or the stove, and then you got steam, it converts to grease.” He couldn’t do anything for me. If he said that it was done wrong, American Home Shield would not suggest them to fix it, which sucks. Because if that’s the case, then the person who mounted it did it wrong, and I’m paying all this time for the insurance, and it’s something that could cause more problem later, which it can, yet he didn’t do anything.
It would have been nice if they said, “You know what, this is not done right. We’re gonna fix it right so you don’t have a fire.” It’s funny because I've been using that microwave since 2017, and I’ve never had an issue until somebody pointed out that I got smoke coming out of the top. And I thought, “I hope it's not a shortage.” But you can see screws on the thing. He didn’t open that. And he said, “If you would unscrew that, you’ll see all that grease in there and stuff.” But there’s no piping going up to the roof. So, why didn’t they do that? I hired a professional to do it.
One time, AHS declined my claim. And in my first house, my ceiling in the master bathroom looked like rain came in, because my paint was bubbling between the wall. The contractor came out because I had roof damage. I had to hire a roofer, but he wouldn’t fix it. So, I called AHS, and they said they couldn’t do anything about it. Why is it that I’m paying all this money, and they receive it?

Our initial issue was the refrigerator was not making ice and not getting cold. I tried to submit a claim previously but it just got botched up. The technician wasn't able to come out and that was through GE. That was canceled but the money was refunded back on my card. Then we submitted a claim and Sears came out. Sears was amazing. He said parts needed to be ordered and they would be delivered directly to me. Once all the parts came in, someone else would be back out within a specific time frame. The appointment was scheduled for the follow-up repair and everything was met. So far, the refrigerator is working fine.

I had a claim with AHS for my water heater. The pan had broken due to a rupture in the tank. It turned out to be way too old. They diagnosed it with it being wear and tear, the pan being ruptured and needing to be replaced. As far as how it went, the first gentleman that came out was useless. He gave me a quote, didn't give me any of the information that the second guy that came out gave me. But overall, as a company, I wasn't satisfied with the overall experience.
From the time we made our claim to the time we got our repair done, took us a month or two. After the repairs were quoted, I found out that only $600 out of a $1,900 repair was going to be covered by American Home Shield. So that made us really frustrated. We were like, "Why do we have American Home Shield?" It's not even half of what the repair was. They offered me a cash-out option, but the lady who explained it to me, because English wasn't her first language, had a hard time and really couldn't give me much information in regard to how that works. I learned it on my own reading over my contract.

I had a great experience with them. I was having trouble with my remote for the garage doors. A tech came and he diagnosed what the problems were and fixed it all up.

My air conditioner went kaput. I called American Home Shield on a Monday and the contractor was here Tuesday. They had to get a part. So by Friday, I had air conditioning. I do my claim by phone because I don't wanna do it online. I usually get through and they figure out who they want to send. But they're also very cooperative when I tell them, “Okay. This is who came before and I really liked them. Could you call them even if they're not top on the list to be called?” If the providers were really helpful when they came the last time, I usually ask for them again. The only problem that I had was when I had a leak in my laundry room and it ended up being two calls instead of one. It turned out to be two different copays. To me, it was one problem. But they said it was two.

A guy with UKH came out right away and assessed the problem with my washing machine. He said what the problem was. He had to order the part, which he did. It came within a week and he came back to put the part in. He realized that there was something going on with the transmission on the washing machine because it still didn't work after putting in the part. He said he had to get back to American Home Shield to let them know what the cost was and what he had to replace. It would be left up to them as to which way they want to go if they want to repair or replace.
I didn't hear anything for a few days so I called American Home Shield and the information that they had was the guy came out and repaired the washing machine. I told them that he put a part in but it didn't work. He said he had to talk to American Home Shield to get another part to see if they would cover it and that he or American Home Shield would get back to me with whatever the decision was. I already called the guy and he said that he notified American Home Shield of what the problem was and that I needed to speak with them. The young lady told me that the washing machine had to be replaced.
That process worked fine. American Home Shield sent me a link and they let me know how much they were paying for the machine. Anything over what they were paying and if I wanted a better grade, I would have to pay the difference. I chose the gift card and I purchased a washer. The process all in all took about three weeks.
I've had American Home Shield for quite a long time and I like them. The only real problem I have is some of their employees do not speak English very well and it's very hard to understand them. I had one young lady and I had no idea what she was saying to me. I had to keep asking over and over again. I told her I needed to be connected to where I could leave a survey and she hung up on me. It's very difficult to deal with someone that you don't really understand.
Other than that, I have the home warranty for both my houses. My son owns a home and he has it with him too and so do quite a few of my other relatives and friends. Everyone says the same thing and sometimes they cannot understand American Home Shield's employees. If it's being sourced out and it's going to the Philippines, they don't have the access to transfer calls like someone would be able to do within the United States. That causes a problem because then we have to hang up and call another number and go through all of the processes over again. Every time, you get a different person.

For my recent claim with AHS, the garbage disposal was busted and B&L fixed it. I hate the website of AHS, though. Because you get to pick a date, you don't get to pick a time. If that day works, it works. If it doesn't, you're ** till later. I had a washer that was supposed to be fixed. They were supposed to come on the 1st. But they didn't. Now I have to wait till the 20th. 20 days later, I'm still without an appliance.

It's nice if we have something major that breaks, AHS comes out and helps. But in the past, they would send us the bottom of the barrel and it wasn't good. I had an issue with my faucet and they sent out somebody who ended up doing damage instead of fixing anything. He was an extremely lazy person that I wish he would have never come. They sent another plumber out here and they were wonderful. They fixed everything and they got that issue resolved.
It was a little bit of a struggle to get everything to their attention, though. I had to get my attorney and he wrote them and explained to them. Then, I talked to Kimberly and she was wonderful. She understood everything and she took care of it. I was happy with the result. Recently, we got Zen Appliance and they were wonderful. The tech came out and repaired our microwave. That works wonderfully. For our dishwasher, he said it should be replaced. AHS gave me the money that it would have cost to fix it to go towards a new one.

I would turn the AC on and it would only blow out a strange smell in the one room that I'm in. Then, when I would turn on the bathroom vent, there would be another strange smell in the bathroom. But there was no smoke. So, I told the gentleman that we just recently had siding done so I wasn't sure if anything had changed and he explained that the AC unit does not pull in air. He described it to me and checked everything but could not figure out where it was coming from. As I suspected, he would not be able to smell it when he got here because I normally smell it during the daytime. So, he just told me to contact them or American Home Shield if it happened again.
Rob, the tech, was super fantastic. He was one of the most professional, kind and super patient individuals that we ever encountered where he literally stayed around long enough to let me run not only that AC but the vent in the bathroom to wait and see if it would continue to emit any odor. I never had anyone who spent that kind of time. He said he had to fill out some paperwork so that would allow him some time to do it. He came back in and did a thorough assessment. He went from the very top floor all the way down to the cellar. Then he went outside to check the AC with a flashlight. I have never ever experienced anything like that. We've dealt with a lot of vendors before and some were greatly disappointing where I've asked for an advocate because they were so horribly bad. But this one, by far, was amazing. He kept us updated even when he couldn't come and would apologize for having us wait. He was just unbelievable.
We had to pay several costs for AHS to realize that the refrigerator freezer was irreparable, but they replaced it. They've replaced our washer as well as our dryer. And they continue to surprise me even though the monthly fee or the annual fees have increased significantly since we've had them. On several occasions, I’ve decided I did not want to keep American Home Shield and I wanted to go with another organization. The fee has almost doubled now since we started with them. So that is a great disappointment. But as far as coverage, they have protected us since we purchased this house in 2016.

Sears was wonderful when they came out for my refrigerator. However, the contract said it’s for 30 days, which I didn't think was fair that they wanted to charge me again another $100. So, it took a while, but it was resolved.

The AC was leaking. The contractor had to get parts and come back. They had to put in something with American Home Shield, and get the parts. It needed to come to them, and they needed to schedule with me to come and put it in. The guy that put it in ordered a certain size because in the little closet, it's a tight space. He didn't get the exact size. But he was able to do some things in the area to get it to work. He took care of it.

American Home Shield has worked for us. Recently, I submitted a claim for the dyer. There was a piece inside it that was sticking out. A few minutes later, I got a note telling me that a vendor was assigned. I gave them a call, and they came and repaired it. It was done almost instantly. I was very satisfied.

It took a little bit of time to get the door person up to fix the garage doors. Then when he got here, he didn't have all the equipment. So he had to go back and order. But he came back up and did his job. And in today's world, that wasn't too bad. With AHS, we got some things done that we needed to get done without having to pay an arm and a leg for it.

American Home Shield always takes care of the issue eventually but there's a time delay before something gets fixed and that's my biggest complaint. Usually, somebody shows up within a couple of days to take a look at the issue but what scares me is if the air conditioner or the furnace goes out in the wintertime and the summertime.
I had a washing machine claim and they got a part only to find out there's another part that's causing the problem. At that point, they realized they're gonna get another washing machine for me. The process took so long that we took our clothes over to my sister-in-law's house for a week or two to get it taken care of. Also, it sounds like they had to go through AHS to get the parts, whereas it could have been done quicker if they would have gone to town and found somebody who got the parts in hand. It seems like sometimes it could be done faster.

Our claim for a kitchen disposal that leaked under our sink went quick. American Home Shield replaced it. It leaked and we're replacing the island now. But waiting for the product to officially die or not work and continuing to replace it is not very helpful, like with the air conditioning unit.

When you call, AHS answers and they don't make you wait forever to get someone to come out. I had the toilet flap repaired and the process was pretty good. The techs were very courteous and professional. I would not exchange AHS for anything else. I've referred some friends to them.

The kitchen sink pipe was busted and then another pipe under the house was busted. Altstadt Hoffman Plumbing was wonderful. They were my second opinion after Next Plumbing decided to not do anything. Altstadt was out there the next day and had me fixed the next day after that. I had been waiting three and a half weeks after Next Plumbing. I fought for three weeks with four different people that I spoke with before AHS finally decided to help. But now that they resolved my pipe issues, it's good.

The experience was fabulous. The girl with American Home Shield was amazing. She found me and gave me my contract number. She did everything for me. It was less than 15 minutes and she had me ready to go and with an appointment. The only setback was we were going through a heatwave, so I had to wait several days before they could have the appointment. But once the repairman showed up, he fixed the issue within an hour. I have an older unit and thought he was going to have to order parts and that it was going to take even more time after that. It didn't. I plan to continue every year because that was amazing. I am so pleased and I appreciate American Home Shield. When I Googled them, it said that they rated top. I'm surprised because the guy I bought it from was kind of seedy.

My shower leaked upstairs and in order to get to the shower, they had to open up my ceiling here in my front room. I asked if they were gonna be able to put that back and they said that they would. They would send a handyman here to patch up the ceiling after the job was done. After the job was done, the technician that was here to cut the opening told me that he called AHS and told them that they have prepared the shower and they had cut the opening, but they were ready to close it up. But I never got a call from them about it so I decided to call to see when they were gonna send someone out to patch the hole up. They told me that they didn’t have anyone at the time to do it, but they would send someone out here to do it.
I called again and they put me on hold for a while and told me the same thing again - they don’t have anybody to come and patch the hole up but they would get to it as soon as they could. They wanted to give me money back because they couldn’t find anyone to patch up the hole. They gave me the runaround and they never got to it so I had it done myself. I would not have gotten the shower fixed by them if I had known that they weren’t gonna cover the hole back up. Also, they’ve been out four times for the toilet and it’s still running water. AHS needs to educate the people that answer the phone or take orders. Don't tell someone that you're going to send a handyman to patch up a hole and then say that you didn't even say that. I'm very dissatisfied with them.

My AC wasn't cooling any longer. You can turn the fan on but there was hot air. I reach out to the contractor once my service was scheduled with them. I did that in about 24 hours. It was the middle of the summer and they had 88 calls that day. It probably won't be that week before they came but they ended up coming within 72 hours after that call.
The techs were top-notch and communicative. They told me that they would send me a tracker for me to know where they were at. They showed up when they were supposed to and did everything. They cleaned up and told me all that was going on. My unit is old and I needed a part that is discontinued. They had to order the part through American Home Shield. That took long and I was without an AC for a good 15 days. Once they had the part, they scheduled a visit within 24 to 48 hours. The part was received on Wednesday and I was serviced on Friday. The AC is perfect now.
When you have a home warranty, you pay one small fee and you get serviced. It could have been a big bill for me. The cost savings is the biggest bang for my buck. Also, customer service checked in quite often, so that was good to know my claim just wasn't forgotten. American Home Shield had already replaced my refrigerator.

My roof got fixed, and that was great. I appreciate that because I had a hole in my roof. Also, my air condition stopped working. So, someone was out today looking at it. It’s a good process.

I had issues with the Samsung refrigerator ice maker and with the Samsung dryer. American Home Shield sent someone out, and after a week, they came back and put in the recall replacement part for the Samsung ice maker. However, they didn't bring what they needed for the dryer, so I'm still waiting on that. The technician's been very good. I liked that they've come back out. I would have liked that he'd come out the time that he came out with having both issues resolved, but that didn't happen.

We love American Home Shield. The reps are very knowledgeable over the phone and gave us things to do to help speed up the process. Our overflow bucket was filling up with water. The techs had put in a Safe-T-Switch to prevent that from happening or shut the machine down when it's causing those issues.

My experience with American Home Shield was a little rocky at first but it has gotten better. Once they stopped sending the horrible company everything started getting fixed. Our first issue was with the dishwasher that broke. There are nine people that live here at the moment. We called American Home Shield and they sent somebody out. It was another three or four months before our dishwasher actually got fixed because they had to order parts and then come back. At first it wasn't the right parts and they had to order more parts and then come back. The dishwasher ended up breaking a couple of months later and American Home Shield replaced it.
When our air conditioning unit went out, American Home Shield sent the same company five times. We just had somebody come out yesterday again. It's a hit or miss with whoever comes. The company that I hated was Sears and I told the home warranty not to ever send me Sears again. That was for the dishwasher. American Home Shield listened and haven't sent Sears back ever since. For the heating and cooling, we have an older unit, so I know there are going to be problems. American Home Shield was quick to get somebody out here for that. They have been very attentive and they call and check up. They ask if everything's okay. I like them. Once the train kept moving and we were on the right track, we were good. We just bought a second home and we're about to do the home warranty for that house as well.

I've only had good service with American Home Shield. I’ve had two appliances replaced. There was no arguing or confusion. When something breaks, I don't have to worry about it. I know that the person that's going to come is represented by an agency that's going to have my interest. I've not had a problem with the contractors every time they've ever come out. If they needed to come back out, they always came back out. Recently, my air conditioning stopped working. Apparently, there was an electric line that had burned out. The guy that came out took care of it and called me often.

American Home Shield sent Honesty for an AC repair and they did pretty well. The guy was very friendly and professional. Unfortunately, we went on vacation, felt the air, got it fixed, and it went back. So, I'm not sure if it was 100% fixed and we had to call back out to just check it again. Other than that, the guy went above and beyond.

The short version: my A/C has had problems for 3+ months and has been fully dysfunctional for 6 weeks. The AHS assigned contractor has been ludicrously unprofessional and barely communicates. The license he showed me is expired. He doesn’t answer the phone. His criminal arrest has delayed my service. After 6 weeks of delaying (not providing service) the company brought the wrong part to my house and diagnosed one additional broken part-I think it’s likely they intentionally broke the part or invented the extra problem to scam AHS. AHS refuses to assign me a new contractor and their cash out option is about than 1/3 what I was quoted to fix it with a different, more reputable, company. Read below for long version.
I had a first inkling of A/C problems in May 2022. A/C wasn’t keeping up with the heat on the hottest days. Called AHS. They scheduled a tuneup for $75 which took weeks to get. The assigned techs charged refrigerant and masked the problem (I have an evaporator coil leak). They did not assess for a leak. July 24 my A/C completely stopped working. They sent a new tech to diagnose for $75. Two guys came. One stayed on my bottom floor and creeped out my girlfriend and talked to her about his divorce and custody battles while the other guy went two stories up with me to the attic. Without opening the system at all they diagnosed the coil leak. They were in my home <5 minutes.
A week later I finally got a diagnosis from AHS and the ETA was Aug 9th. I had bought window units to provide some cooling totaling $1300. My dog got an ear infection then later a UTI from the heat which I spent around $300 on. On August 4th I called to schedule an appointment. A new person answered and said they don’t schedule an appointment until they have the part. I called on August 8th for an update. The phone didn’t ring. I got a message indicating they blocked my number or the number didn’t exist. I tried again the next day. Same message. I contacted AHS about this. They told me to keep trying despite not being able to contact him either. Same thing for the next few days.
Finally AHS sent this to contractor relations to change contractors. They took a week and the contractor finally contacted them back via email. I later found out via public record that he was arrested by county police in the area on august 11th for “illegal use of telephone” which likely explains why he wouldn’t contact me and why the number AHS has on file is now a new number (the new number is a text message app number that he has never responded to). AHS required him to provide a manufacturer's ETA for the part. He told me the 18th of August. He wouldn’t schedule an appointment. I still had exceptionally poor communication from him.
He finally scheduled an appointment with me on August 24th (one month since the 2nd request for service that summer). He didn’t show up. I’m in military and I was on a shift that required me to sleep during the day. I sacrificed most of my sleep to make sure I could be up for the appointment. He didn’t show up. He told me he’d come the next day (still only communicating very unprofessionally through email). He didn’t show up and I sacrificed sleep again. He stopped responding again. For the 3rd-4th time I asked AHS to be sent to contractor relations, which still got me nowhere.
I asked about a cash out option. They offered me $1179. Another (reputable) company quoted me $2800 to fix the issue. I tried one last time to contact my contractor. He said, at 11pm on the 28th of August that he would come on the 29th of August. He got rude with me based on the fact that I had asked for timely service. He blamed me for the entire situation. Nervous about his credentials based on the unprofessionalism, I asked to see the business license. He provided me with an EXPIRED license.
A different employee showed up with the grandfather of the guy I had been in contact with. He’s in his 80s (he told me) and mostly sat in the car and never came inside (my issue is in the attic). The techs spent 2-3 hours at my house, the majority of their time was spent at the outside condenser (where the compressor is) despite the fact that my problem was the evaporator coil (in the attic). I was asked not to hover while they worked. Every time I asked for an update they asked me to wait. Finally after hours of no communication they came in and told me they brought the wrong evaporator coil and also that my compressor was broken. I think it is likely they broke it to get more money from AHS. The next morning I discovered a medical injection needle with an unknown substance in it where they had parked their car (possibly drugs).
The AHS cash out option for the coil and the compressor is $2069. The estimate for repairs with a REPUTABLE company is $5000-$7500. I have told AHS about all of the issues and problems numerous times. I have called them every step of the way-probably 50+ times in 6 weeks. Their employees are usually incompetent (or aren’t allowed to actually help me) and sometimes dishonest. I have been promised calls back 7-10 times and never once has AHS called me. I have had people tell me they are “personally” going to work on something for me and they don’t. Notes that they say are on my record do not exist when I ask a different rep about them later.
Escalation department never offers any solutions, only apologies and (seemingly fake) empathy. I have also been called a liar by an AHS rep. They continue to refuse to assign me a new contractor despite the one they assigned having an expired license and he’s under criminal investigation. Despite that he’s taken 6 weeks to bring the wrong part and then likely intentionally breaking an additional component, and despite maybe leaving drug needles on my property. My only other option is to pay $3000-5500 out of pocket after already losing $2000+ on this issue and issues related to it.
The stress of this has me not sleeping at night. The other people in the household are frustrated. I have spent so much time, money, energy, and tears on this issue. AHS employees can’t or won’t help me. I would be VERY wary of this company because it won’t give me the flexibility to choose a good contractor and has resulted in making more problems than it creates.

I've been trying to get a wall unit and it's been a year. Technicians came out promptly every time I called and they tried to find parts for the oven. It was just that the manufacturer was out of stock. Also, American Home Shield's compensation was a third of what they really cost on the market and I couldn't get that price. I couldn't afford to get a new oven on my own at that time. That was frustrating and I had to go almost a year without an oven.
I have been contacting American Home Shield every month to get the status. Last month, they decided to double the upfront rate. That way, I could go out and buy my own oven and just submit invoices to them. I'm due to get the oven replaced next week. That aside, I had a problem with my air conditioner recently. One of the sensors went out and technicians came out and fixed it.

The motor on the air conditioning had failed and they set up for somebody to come out in a very timely manner. It was quicker than I expected. We’ve been very pleased with AHS’s services. They always respond as the contract requires and do what they’re supposed to do.

We've had American Home Shield for a year since we bought the home. Their service could be better. They had done a repair on the AC, and they did it incorrectly. We were completely unaware of it until the AC went kaput. AHS they took a while to get somebody out. I put the claim in on a Sunday and I didn't get anybody out here until Friday. The process shouldn’t be longer. Make the contractor move quicker on the claim.
Also, we weren't aware that if there were any prior repairs to something and it was done incorrectly, it comes out of our pocket. So, AHS only covered AC, but we had to pay 850 out of pocket so that the company could maneuver the stuff that they had already messed up from the previous repair. Was it our fault? We bought the house like that. So, I don't see how that's fair. We got the warranty just in case something pops up and we should have been covered. So, it took us two weeks to get an AC and we live in Texas. It's hot. So, no AC and three kids and three dogs was a nightmare.

We have an air conditioner and it was making a noise. I submitted a claim in the portal which was very self-sufficient and easy to use. Somebody called me back the next day. I got one of the better contractors I've had with American Home Shield in terms of explaining to me each unit, what the range should be and where mine was at. The tech was very thorough and super nice. I just explained to him that I felt like one of the units might be making a noise. He said, "No problem" and that he would check each one of them. He had this thermostat that said what the output should be and there were four different levels. He screenshotted each one and showed me what the range should be and what my range was. I highly recommend using them going forward. He said everything was functioning.

American Home Shield sent Whitney Holdings out who reviewed my unit. They're recommending that it get replaced so American Home Shield is currently awaiting paperwork from them in regards to that. I have a big house with a lot of appliances and a pool. All that is covered. My AC would run for 20 minutes and stop. I called the techs on a Wednesday and they came out on Saturday. The tech didn't fix it all the way the first time and he had to come back on Monday to clean out the drain. But I've used that contractor before and they've always been pretty good.

My service is good with American Home Shield. I've had two claims and both were handled professionally and in a timely manner. I logged in to my account. I put in a request for the roof leak. AHS set me up with a contractor and within 24 hours, a contractor contacted me, came out, and viewed what I was talking about. He asked to provide the service the following week. So, it was timely. Everything was done in a timely manner. The technician was very pleasant and knowledgeable. One time when he said that he would be there, he was quiet. I didn't even know he was on the roof until I got up and started moving around my house because he got there at 7 o'clock in the morning.

We started receiving an error message in one of the thermostats so I opened a claim with American Home Shield. We are dissatisfied with how everything turned out. The company that was sent to us, Mister Mechanical, put in there that this was a pre-existing issue. Therefore, the claim was denied. They are saying American Home Shield is the one that is saying it's a pre-existing issue. There's a lot of back and forth. American Home Shield is saying that they're not going to cover anything to repair the issue which is a little disheartening to us since we're brand new owners to this house.
I asked them to give me a precise diagnosis then what it would cost to repair. They're saying that one of the units is also leaking oil. We are trying to figure out how much does that cost. Even that, they're not telling me. They're saying, "It depends how much you need. Each pound is this much." I feel they're giving me the runaround. They're saying they need to come back and do another inspection that is gonna cost me $75 per hour, and it can take up to three to four hours to do it. I'm not finding them very trustworthy. Today, we had someone come out for the dishwasher and the refrigerator. My husband told me that that got resolved. For the refrigerator, one of the parts went bad, and they fixed it for the freezer. For the dishwasher, apparently, it was something that needed to be turned on and it's working.

I am not happy with American Home Shield. I had an AC that went out and three techs came out. They said they didn't work on the system that I have and it was going to take time to find somebody to work on such a system. It took four months before American Home Shield got the right technician out there to be able to fix it. When you call customer service, their phone system is broken because it always goes back to the same company that would say, "I've already been there. It needs to go to somebody else because I couldn't fix it."
I also had a plumbing issue and American Home Shield sent a contractor out that said that he put a pipe in to try to fix this clog. He never had any equipment. He said I needed something that's over 30 feet. I never saw him put a cord in my system to push 30 feet. I got an actual note in the mail that said if it's beyond the scope of American Home Shield, I might have to do that on the outside. A week later, a contractor called me and said that he was going to come out. He's going to try to go deeper than 30 feet to see if there's a clog. He ended up fixing it.
I also had a problem with both my refrigerators going out. I have one in the garage and one in the house. I asked the technician if he could do both the refrigerators at the same time. They were able to do that. It took a couple of weeks but it was no big deal. The first time the technician came out, he diagnosed the refrigerators and they needed Freon. He had to order a part to put on, weld on, and put more Freon in each refrigerator. But that was not the problem. Both refrigerators still went back out. I just called on one refrigerator the next time. The technician came back out. There was something about the service board inside the house refrigerator. He replaced that and it started working for a week and it went down. Another technician was sent after that and he was really good. He had the part in the car and he went and got it.
The next time I called on both refrigerators, the original guy that came out said he went to the garage refrigerator and he said that he moved something around and it started working. I'm still at a half capacity of cooling in my garage one. He ordered another part and fixed my house refrigerator. That is working but my secondary refrigerator in the garage is still not working properly.
Every time I have an issue, I don't have an easy fix. It takes a while and it depends on the technician. One technician carries parts and seems to get it done while another technician that Accord Appliance can send out could be three weeks before they get the part and come back out to fix the issue. I call in and ask if it could be sooner and they are very busy. That was crazy.

I enjoy that I pay my fee every month, and if I need to call somebody else out, I have that additional amount of 75 bucks. The one issue that I have is I didn't know that the plans had changed, and a portion of my service was not included, and I had to come out of pocket when I didn't realize that there was a change. I didn't read through American Home Shield's email to see that my plan had actually changed. So, lesson learned from that. But I like the services. It has gotten more expensive than what I can afford, but I can't afford not to have it.

Sometimes I like American Home Shield, but sometimes I don't. The coverage is fine. It's easy to get on the list. Lately, they've been able to assign me a contractor quickly. But after that, it's between me and the contractor, and not all contractors in the past had been as good as GE had been. Until this time, GE Appliances has been that perfect. We were scheduled for last week but the person that they had scheduled to come called in sick. They didn't provide any alternatives and just put us at the end of the line. Now, we're not going to get our dryer even looked at until the 23rd of September. We needed it before the end of this week.
The problem with American Home Shield is once I pay them the $100 and they assign somebody, they take themselves out of the equation. They don't help me get my stuff fixed if the contractor doesn't come through. I have to beg for additional support but there's no way to do it. If I try to get through the system to do it, it sends me directly back to GE.

So far, I like the service. Sometimes, they try to give me cheaper products than they're supposed to but I just refer to my policy then they're like, "Oh yeah." Also, I had a plumbing company that was really bad. They've been in my house twice. The first time, they were terrible and degrading because I'm a woman. They were trying to talk through my boyfriend and it's not his house. So, he was like, "Well, let me get the boss. They said, "Oh, no, you're the man. You're the boss." I'm like, "What?" I eventually told that man to get out of my house because that's how bad he was. But AHS still sent them again. I was really happy with AHS up until that point.
Recently, my AC's blades weren't moving at all and the casing was really hot. So, I shut it off immediately and put in a work order. I was really happy with the techs. They got out really quickly. I've been having problems with the air conditioner every year. AHS finally replaced it.

My air conditioning was not blowing cold air. The first time Shamanski came out, a capacitor had blown and they replaced it and everything was working fine. A week and a half later, the unit stopped blowing cold air again so they came back and it turned out the original technician had not tightened up all the wires so the wire had come loose. They fixed that and the AC has been fine ever since that.

I had a bathroom issue and it took a while for the plumber to come out but I think that's not an issue with American Home Shield. It's an issue in our community. Once the technicians were here, the issue was resolved very quickly. We've been with Home Shield for years. They can find somebody that can come and fix whatever our problem is. I don't have to go around and search.

The air conditioning wasn't working. The tech got out the next morning and he did excellent work. He answered all my questions and did what needed to be done.

The latest service with American Home Shield was okay, but the air conditioning service was a whole mess. Home Shield sent the company to our house to do an estimate on the air conditioning and what he did is tell us that the air conditioning needed to be changed. He said that he added the Freon, and he charged us $1,200 right there without getting authorization from Home Shield. When he came back because the air broke again, he said that he was not able to continue working because he didn't have the capability to do it. So, another contractor was sent. He wanted to just replace the motor or the compressor, but we had another consultant that we pay separately and the first one said that the system needs to be replaced because it was too old.
This other contractor wanted to charge another $1,000 for Freon. And there was going to be just a warranty for another 30 days. So, they were charging me more than $2,000 more. We didn't want to spend more money in an air that we didn't know if it was good or not. So, we end up getting $900 from AHS and we spend over $13,000 in the air conditioning. So, we are not happy because of that. Now what I'm trying to do is to get my $1,200 back. I'm disputing that charge, because I called several times to Home Shield and they explained to me that in order for a contractor to make this charge to the customer, he need a previous authorization from them and he didn’t even do that. He's fighting the dispute. He's really lying, saying that we refused the repair and got the cash. And that's not true, because he say he was not capable to do the repair. So, it’s a whole mess. I've had deal with this for three months now.
Also, the last time they repaired the washing machine, it didn't last long. We were out of the city. When we came back, the washer didn't work. But the 30 days were over, so we had to pay another $100. And it took long time for them to fix it. So, we're not happy about it.

The AC was inoperable. I had a good experience with the rep. The techs were knowledgeable and professional. They had everything with them and they fixed it in under an hour. So far, things are good with AHS. They fixed the issue in a timely manner.

A part went out in the hot tub. The tech did the work within 10 minutes. He was excellent. There was a situation when there were over 30 days to get something resolved and American Home Shield said that I had to open up a new service request. That wasn't a good thing, but it worked out.

I just purchased the home and upgraded the locks on the exterior doors. Realty Rekey rekeyed them all to the same. Jared was the guy who came out and he showed up on time and was fast and very thorough.

We’ve had American Home Shield for years. If something breaks, it gets repaired. It's a little pricey because we have a pool and spa. But everything goes up these days. We like them, except the last time the guy came out, it hasn’t been fixed. The tub stopped working. I need to call to have them come back out. He said he had everything in the car. It wouldn’t stay down or stay up. So, it worked for a week, and that was it.

I had an issue with the AC and the AHS rep was very helpful when I called. There were two technicians who came. They had to take out the compressor and order the compressor and come back and install it. They were great. They showed up on time and were professional. They got the work done quickly and works great.

I was not using my air conditioner in April and May because I lived by myself. So, during that time, the ceiling fan was sufficient for me and I never turned my air on. But my niece was coming in from Dayton, Ohio and it had started getting a little warm. She was here the end of May so, I decided to turn the air on maybe a few days before she came. I noticed that it was not cooling. I called American Home Shield and the young man came out. He said my Freon was gone and that I needed a coil. But in the meantime, he also told me that somebody needed to come and turn my system around because it was so tight in the back. They ordered the coil for me and the young lady from Myers told me that it was a backorder, so it would take about three and a half weeks for it to come.
The part came probably a week and two days later. So, it came early. The technician came out and worked downstairs for about two hours. He was able to get back there but I would check on him. The air started working for two weeks and it shut off again. Another technician came and he said I had a leaking valve. I asked him if it was outside of the unit and he said yes. In the meantime, I talked to American Home Shield.
I have a system that's inside my garage. When the people that we purchased the house from bought the house, it was an unfinished basement. So, they renovated it. They have a den and fireplace in there as well as an office and a walk-in closet. They didn't turn the system around and we've never had a problem with that. So, I was telling my brother about it and I said that there was no telling how much it was gonna cost to get it turned around. He told me that we could let Eric, a friend that we know, just make us a door. And I said that was a good idea. The study is large enough where he could make me a door there. So, Eric came and, after he checked everything, he came up and said that the system was facing my den so he would need to cut a door right there. So, when the technician comes, all they would have to do is just stand right here. So, he did the door.
I called Myers and American Home Shield, and let them know that they have better access to the system. So, when Myers came back, the guy came out and I was thinking he was gonna bring the valve with him. But they didn't order the valve and I understand why. They wanted to make sure if there anything else they need to do. So, it took quite a while longer. The guy came out and checked everything, and was here for over two hours. Everything was working and the only thing that happened was I had gone out and I saw I had a little leak and some of it had gotten on my carpet and we couldn't figure out where the water was coming from. So, I was taking pictures so I could send it to my brother. My niece had come back from Ohio. So, that was part of the pipe which is not in. I called American Home Shield and Myers came right out and the guy saw what happened.
Everything is good and I've had no problems. The manager came out the next week and I was surprised because I knew everything was completed that Saturday. I told her what happened and that everything was fine. I had AHS a few years ago and some things happened back then and I left the contract. But it was taken care of. I talked to the supervisor. Everything I was talking about was in their notes and the supervisor saw everything. So, he sent somebody out the next day and everything was taken care of. But I didn't pick them back up. I thought about it later on and I said I needed to get American Home Shield. And I'm very much satisfied. I would recommend it. They're honest and professional. I always call in when submitting claims and I know I'm talking to a representative of business, but they are so down-to-earth. They're nice and I like that.

My central air conditioner stopped throwing cold air. The fan stopped blowing completely and there was something else that the contractor had to replace. We were in the middle of a heatwave so it could've been worse. It happened on a Friday and the contractor didn't reach out to me until Tuesday. But they came on Thursday and then, it was a week for the part and they came back within that week. So, it was fine.

American Home Shield's service is good. They are responsive and I've had a number of open cases that they've taken care of. Sometimes it takes a while to get a contractor out. But that's understandable when all the furnaces or air conditioning units are breaking.

The fan was going but it wasn't making the normal noise an AC would make. The house felt warmer and it wasn't cooling appropriately. That was when I made the claim and once I did, American Home Shield sent me the generic company name and their contact phone number. They were fabulous. It's super hot so I didn't have high expectations over them getting back to me quickly. But within two full business days, they were out. I told the repairman what happened. He immediately knew the problem. He diagnosed it, fixed it, and was gone within 30 minutes.
However, I still have very mixed feelings about American Home Shield in general. It took me three plumbers and five months to get somebody to fix something else in my house. I called multiple times. They did their best to have their customer service reach out to these plumbing companies. Clearly, the plumbing companies have no integrity, but my biggest problem came from the fact that American Home Shield said, “These contractors are our partners so can't speak poorly of them. We're not going to stop working with these contractors.”
The very first plumber that ever came to my house for a leaky faucet told me that I didn't know how to turn my faucet off. That frustrated me. I refused to have them come back to my house, which led me to the second plumber who came out and was nice enough that he needed to order the parts. Because I felt like American Home Shield has blacklisted me as a customer because I was so irate after that first plumbing experience, I tried to contact the second plumber multiple times myself only for them to never return my phone call. They came out in the beginning of April. In July, I finally called American Home Shield and it took them a lot of work for this company to put me back on their schedule, not show up, then I finally got assigned a third plumber.

We bought the house and American Home Shield came with the warranty and it expired after the year. I have a good experience with it, so we decided to keep it. The sewage device broke or something got stuck in there and the repair guys were able to reset the trash disposal. They did a good job. They came in and took care of things. So, I have no issues with them at all.

AHS has sent people out immediately and they’ve covered what I needed to have covered. For our recent claim, the AC was not working, zoned properly, and didn’t seem to be working in specific areas like it did in others. There are two units and the one that was for the areas that were too warm was not coming on. The serviceman came out and he determined that the units were working properly, but he felt some of the vents needed to be turned down, in order for more cool to go in the other parts of the house. I disagreed with him a little bit. But that does cool the areas that were warmer. So, I'm waiting to see if that actually works. But he was professional in the way that he treated me. He looked everything over and saw where the units were, and how they were operating.

Having American Home Shield is like anybody buying insurance. If you need it, it's great. I had a very minor claim for a washing machine, and it went fine. I called it in and they said that somebody from the place that they set up will be contacting me. Everything went well.

We like American Home Shield. They’re quick in acting and whenever there’s a problem, it’s usually resolved within a couple of days. I’ve had no problems with replacements and the contractors they use. The ones that we’ve had out here have been almost outstanding, professional and courteous. Most people probably do claims online but we don’t go that way. We do it by phone and the one concern would just be the translation where it’s very hard to understand.

I have a water leak and I submitted a work order for it on the 3rd of this month. The company American Home Shield sent out didn't come out until the 7th so I was actively leaking water into my ceiling. When the techs came, they cut holes in the ceiling, saw the leak, and said, “We don't work on that, HVAC does.” They left and there was still leaking happening.
The HVAC company that American Home Shield contacted didn't work on that type of HVAC because it's geothermal so they just canceled. I called American Home Shield today to ask if they were gonna schedule somebody else. They hadn't done that yet. No other providers that they had worked on that type of unit. The whole time they were doing this for the last nine days, I'm still leaking water all under my ceiling which is destroying it. I was told, “We don't pay for that. We only pay to fix the leak,” even though them not sending out a qualified person the first time is why I have thousands of dollars of damages to my ceiling.
I have used American Home Shield for three claims in the past and there were no issues. The online system is very user-friendly. Generally, the representatives, are hard to hear but the online system is great. You put in the claim and the system charges you. You then get a text and you usually get a service provider the next day.

I like AHS very much. I have them on three homes, mine, a rental property, as well as my mother's. My mother's air conditioning went out and they fixed it. I highly recommend them.

After I did a claim, a technician came out the very next day. He checked everything out and figured out what the issue was. He had to replace a pump that’s in the very bottom of the AC and unclogged some pipes. He had to go figure out where he could get a pump. He called a couple of places when he was outside the truck and he found a place that had it. He told me it would take him about an hour or so to go and get it and come back. He did and he replaced the pump. To unclog the pipes and do everything, that took him a couple of hours. Once he did all that, everything worked really well. I was very satisfied and I would recommend American Home Shield.

The contractors have all been good and very informative. They educate me about what's wrong with the problem and how to prevent it. The only thing with AHS is people try to get you on the price but you get what you pay for most of the time. I would recommend them.

We're very happy with American Home Shield's communication, promptness and good work. I had the AC worked on and the tech couldn't get the part for four days, which seemed like three months in Florida in August. But that wasn't the person's fault. Everything was perfect and ultra-professional.

I’ve been renewing my contract with American Home Shield for the last few years. I have never had a problem with any of their services. They've been very diligent with making sure my requests are met in a timely fashion. I'm very pleased.
The electrician who came out was very professional. He made the trip very easy for me. He spoke in layman's terms for me to be able to convey the problem to Georgia Power. The fact that he followed up and sent an email to me so I can show Georgia Power made the transaction even more easier. Based on what he provided to me, Georgia Power came out the same day to correct the electrical issue. As a home owner, I appreciate the fact that I don't have to be burdened with electrical stuff because electricians are expensive. I pay my fee to American Home Shield and they go ahead and take care of it for me. It is something that I tell all of my friends about. I even have my mother who lives in Louisiana on a plan for that same purpose.

The button broke on the icemaker and it stopped working. The GE individual called me, came around, identified the issue and ordered the part. Then, he came back and replaced it with no issue. The icemaker is working great right now. I like it that when I put a claim in, American Home Shield responds as fast as they can and they have also fulfilled the expectation of my obligation. I haven't had anything rejected. Everybody has been professional and has shown up when they said they're gonna show up and been knowledgeable.

There were a lot of things that appeared to be covered when signing up with American Home Shield. Later on, you find out that they're not covering stuff. That's frustrating. I just placed a claim about my sink, which was supposed to be covered. But a component in my sink is not covered and I find it to be a bit deceiving because it's a sink and I'm assuming that it's everything that goes with the sink and not just part of it. That aside, my other claim went well. But American Home Shield should cover what they say that they cover and they should be a little bit more transparent.

I've been with American Home Shield for many years and there have been times that I'm wanting to cancel but my house is 18, so I know some things are going to be quitting on me and it's better to keep my policy with AHS. The only thing is the list of vendors that you're able to choose from has gotten shorter. Also, you have to go through a lot of prompts to get to a customer service rep. Customer service isn't the way it used to be. You're frustrated and you have to hit a button and have to keep repeating things over and over, but that's just the way of life right now. It’s okay.
On the recent repair that I had, I was set up with a vendor, and then all of a sudden, it got canceled and set up with another vendor, and it was one that I didn't like. When I called, they told me those are the only two people I could choose from, and one couldn't get to me for weeks out so I had to choose the vendor that I didn't like. It turns out I got really good customer service from them.
A few years ago, I had flooding underneath my house and so I had a lot of contractors that we had gone through American Home Shield. Our pipes leaked so we had to repipe our house. We had to stay at a hotel. It was a horrible thing that happened, but in the end, my daughter's bathroom had to be redone, and underneath, all the old stuff had to be taken out. It was bad but it turned out to be good.

The lights went out and American Home Shield said they don't cover fixtures. I was surprised that they didn't cover any of that nor did it cover my garage. My motor thing wasn't covered either. Checking the air conditioning when the summer comes in is supposed to come with American Home Shield but that's never done. If the techs come out to check the air conditioner, I'm charged for it. But most of the time, the AHS service is good. I get what I pay a month and I break even for what I paid for the year. I've been filing claims every month for the last three months. I had a pipe that was clogged up and the contractor came out to unclog that. Then, it affected my dishwasher. So, the repair guys came out for that. All that needed to be done was unplug then turn it on.

The claim was regarding our garbage disposal. My wife saw a leak underneath the kitchen sink. And it appeared like it was a slow leak because it hadn’t stained a lot of the wood underneath. It didn't get on the main floor. But it got soaked up into the wood underneath. The garbage disposal was never broken. It was just there was a slow leak coming out of it. I have a bad back, and I can't bend over and get inside there and look. My wife has bad knees. We can’t see where it's coming from. That's why we called American Home Shield.
It happened on a Friday night, and it was late on a Friday night that we figured out what was going on. The tech didn't come out until it was almost a week. It happened on the 26th. He came out on the 31st. It had to dry out. We put fans in there and dry out the wood before he got here. And I removed some of the wood so he could get his body underneath there.
When the tech came out, he pointed out that the latch underneath the garbage disposal wasn't snapped in place. He twisted it and it fell into place where it wasn't in place before. And he tightened something up. It's not that old of a garbage disposal. I said, “It was done by another plumber. We didn't put it in. It was done by another plumber.” So, I'm surprised because it started leaking not too long ago, and we've had it for a year or two.
He said, “Could’ve shuffled it when you put a load on it.” So, I asked my wife if she filled up the sink and turned it on. She told me she did. So, maybe it shook. But that he fixed it. He seemed to be very knowledgeable. And it has been doing very well. We've replaced some of the wood under there. I painted it, caulked around there. And everything's fixed.

The AC was short cycling. It was turning on and off in very short intervals and then eventually, it just did not run at all. HCS Mechanical came and replaced a part and the AC started running wonderfully. But last Wednesday, it started short cycling again. I've resubmitted a claim to follow back up with that and I've not heard anything yet. The first reaction was very good but the follow-up is really slow.

I've been telling everybody they need to get American Home Shield. Recently, I noticed that when I went to get garbage bags out from under my kitchen sink they were wet. So, I pulled the basket out and it was wet under my sink. I called and a tech came out, looked at it, and replaced something in the sink. I dried it up, but it looked like that piece is still leaking, so I put in another request. I got online and looked and it said, “Is it still leaking?” So, I clicked on that and went through everything.

The water was not going out of my tub then it was leaking somewhere. I made a claim with AHS and at first, it wasn't submitted correctly. When the first tech that AHS assigned said that he was coming out, I told him that my tub was not the type of tub that he thought it was. So AHS didn't bother to send him over because it wouldn't have done any good. They got somebody else to come out and he hadn't called me before he came, but he was the right type of guy to check it out. He told me what the problem was and then he vacuumed out the tub. But he said that this was not under this AHS claim and it was not the type of job that they would do. It was more extensive with how this leakage was going, so he punched out the tub. So it's working now and it's not leaking anymore over there. Everything went well and the tech did what he could do for that.
I was satisfied with AHS because this wasn't my first claim with them and everything has always worked out fine. And if I decide to do what I need to do, I'll call Home Shield for whatever I need. I also had a problem with my refrigerator and the tech who was sent out was Johnny-on-the-spot. When the guy came out, he immediately assessed the problem, told me what it was, and I got a new refrigerator.

I recently put in a couple of claims. One of them was very well. The request went in. The contractor came out quickly. They corrected the problem. And they're very clean and good. But the first request I did took a very long time to get completed. It was for the AC, which I put it in March of 2022 to try to get a jump on it because it was tested and it wasn't working. I called back in May. AHS told me that they couldn't provide service. I said I was not looking for service. I was looking to review what was going on through my policy.
AHS only has one provider. So, when I called in May to try to change, someone told me that they would fulfill my request. And they redid it. I noticed that was the same provider. The first time I called after two months of not getting any response or getting anywhere, if there was another provider, AHS would have provided it, or they would have called them and say, “You need to get in touch with them.” They said, “They have to cancel the request, and then we can input it again.” But they input it in with the same provider. Don't they have that information?
When the person finally came out in August, they said they are the only provider in this area. AHS did do it with them, but the tech made a comment like, “If something happens next year, try it earlier in the season because I'm the only provider and I'm the only one who does AC, that maybe if you do it off-season.” I said that was exactly what I did, yet he still took six months to get out here. But I knew if I called anybody else, they would have been here.

I'm happy with American Home Shield. I'm not happy with their AC contractor that's supposed to come out to my house. I had them come out August 25th because my air conditioner was not working. They sent out Rose Air Conditioning and the guy came. He was there maybe 20 minutes and told me it was all done. He put some freon in and everything was working fine.
I didn't need the air conditioner again until this past week. I'm in California and it was hotter than the hubs of hell. On Sunday, I turned the air conditioner on. It worked for 20 minutes then it started pumping out hot air. I called American Home Shield and they referred me to Rose. I called them on Monday and left a message. They never bothered calling me back. I called them on Tuesday morning. I talked to the woman and told her I'm 69 years old and I needed my air conditioner. She told me they've got one contractor for all of Sonoma County and they were in Napa County. She said, "I'll call you later and set up an appointment." I've not heard from them since. I tried calling them yesterday and it rolled over to their voicemail. Here it is, Thursday. It's supposed to be almost 110 degrees here but I have no air conditioning. I'm not a happy camper. The first time in August, Rose AC was there the next day. They were right on top of it then. Now they're dropping the ball.

Anytime I have any issues, I give American Home Shield a call. Sometimes I get a little frustrated by the ticket system on the website. We had a recurring issue that Ace Plumbing had to come out multiple times for, and the system didn't allow me to reopen that ticket on the website. So I had to call every single time and tell them it was the same problem and have them reopen the ticket. But when I call, the customer service people are great in helping get things set up. We've used a couple of different services trying to think what's the best way. We've had problems with HVAC, which is a different company than who does our plumbing. So the contractors they work with have been great. I only spent $100 per claim, but the plumbing company had to come out five different times until they finally got it fixed. But we would have spent way more in service fees and everything if we had had to call the plumbing and HVAC people individually.

American Home Shield's rep was the one who informed me that my brother was entitled to the free rekeying. And she asked me if he had it. She's very nice. The tech was, too. He was excellent. One of the things that I was concerned with is that on one of our tickets, the representative that came out did not have whatever he needed to fix the stove. He does have to come back though to replace those. But he should have those parts when they're in that business of appliances. We got a lot of things on our plate when we're moving into a house. That would be one less item that we'd have to handle. Otherwise, he was very nice.

There was an issue in my laundry from the outside. I contacted American Home Shield by phone and spoke to a representative. They were glad to assist me with my concerns. From what I was told, the issue wasn't covered under the warranty. So, they just let me know what the issue was. It was a foundation crack. As of right now, I had to pay someone to come out and fix it.

I like talking to people rather than machines or using computers. It's always nice to be able to sound off with a human to make sure that you're getting your information right. Push this button, push that button, those things are frustrating. I was surprised at how the process went. And I got a letter that something was denied, but the work was done. So, I was confused. But when I called, American Home Shield straightened that out for me. So, I was glad somebody was informed enough to explain it to me. The company that AHS sent out to do the repair was great. It was a water swamp cooler. They replaced the pump. And so far, we're satisfied.

The tech came out for the washing machine and it had to be replaced. We had to pay partial for the replacement because American Home Shield gives you the value of the wholesale. We’re waiting for the replacement to come. There was a little mix-up with the delivery but that wasn't through American Home Shield. That was through the other company.

We had a leak that was coming up underneath the grout of our tile. We didn’t know where the source was, and we assumed it had to do with the dishwasher. We made a claim with them. The guy came out and he was able to visualize. He unscrewed the thing, but apparently, whoever lived here before kind of jammed it in there. The guy didn't feel comfortable pulling it out. I was right there watching him, he did give effort but he didn't want to damage any of the surrounding islands, which I understood. Based on his assessment, whatever was causing it was not sourced by the dishwasher. So, it sounded like it was from another type of plumbing. I didn't open up another claim with AHS because I opened up five, and 125 a piece racks up. So, I signed off on it but he was professional and timely.
For Home Shield, the issue was derived strictly from the dishwasher. So, there was another appliance that we had added to it which was the washing machine for the clothes, and that was sourced out from a company called Lone Star. They were able to find that it didn’t have anything to do with the washing machine either. They said, most likely, it’s in the line of the plumbing. We're kind of stuck back to square one, but it wasn’t due to the lack of competence of the contractor they sent out.

A leak underneath the sink in the kitchen was discovered by an exterminator who came to spray our house. The repair guys came here within the same day we made the request to American Home Shield and did the repair. But we had to do a recall request because there was still a leak. It was not as noticeable but it was a leak. The guys came out and replaced the fasteners and the pipe part. Now, we have to get our wood panel away from the sink restored because that got wet in the water mitigation.

I've had a great experience with American Home Shield. Everyone that came out was able to fix the problem. Someone came out for a recent claim we had and he replaced a fuse that blew out in our AC. That was good.

It took two months for American Home Shield to get me a part for the AC. So we pretty much blistered for the entire summer. I had to pay for a hotel room just to get relief. I had surgery, and it was 100 plus degrees inside my house. I paid over $1,000 in window units that didn’t even work in the house. American Home Shield's service contractor didn’t care to help us with anything. They just said that the parts weren’t ordered and that was it. They didn't care that my children and I were suffering on a daily basis. They didn't care to help us with getting units or some kind of relief. Everybody took their sweet time.
I was telling American Home Shield that the service contractor that they sent us said that they could get us our parts and unit in a week. But American Home Shield wouldn't accept that. So we suffered until American Home Shield went through whoever they go through rather than letting the people that you sent to us take care of it. That was wrong. They should be letting the people that they send to us use their parts to get it done quicker instead of looking all over through one particular person or place that they do. Because there are other options out there. I had to go pay for hotel rooms for weeks at a time but I got zero reimbursements. I got zero help from the warranty that I paid for my home. That wasn't right. I was very disappointed.

Those people at American Home Shield don’t listen. I get frustrated when I’m talking to them. They just get my money and tell me something totally different. I’m gonna go somewhere else. We started getting this flooded area in a part of our living room so I thought the problem wasn’t fixed at all. The lady at American Home Shield told me I told them the claim was for something else. I would never set a claim online again because they don’t have all the components there. That was why I put the other thing out onto the technician when they got there. He went in and supposedly checked it. Ever since the plumber come out, they did a thorough check. He said one of the pipes was busted. I asked him how did he know and he said there was brown spot on my wall.

Our recent use of the American Home Shield was for plumbing. Before that, our garbage disposal went out. I've had a good experience with American Home Shield's customer service. The tech who came for the plumbing did a good job. He was quick to solve the problem and it was just a relief. American Home Shield offers good service and their price is reasonable on a monthly basis. It's worth the investment if something goes wrong.

It took a bit to get the appointment for the central vac, but we finally got it. And he was very professional. American Home Shield denied the repair because the tech would have to go under the house to repair some pipes that are there. He would do that, but I would pay for that part myself. Other than that, AHS has always been very responsive. There have been several times that I've used their service and they got a contractor for me right away and everything went smoothly. I recently had to have a new air conditioner, and that was covered by them. So, I'm very happy with them. I've just renewed. And I'm getting more coverage.

We're still waiting for American Home Shield to approve our claim for the AC unit. They're supposed to contact us and let us know something either by today or tomorrow. Other than that, the techs were good. They also fixed the plumbing issue I had. I used to be with another company that didn't help us get anything done. We had a lightning strike close by the house and our transformer, which is on our other garage door, blew. It also affected some of the electrical components for sensors for our garage door. Manually, it could be raised by holding the button and keeping it pressed but none of the automated functions such as the keypad or the remotes would work. I filed a claim with AHS over the internet through my account on their website, which I find much easier than speaking to them on the phone. The individuals often have an accent and while they're very polite, they tend to paraphrase what you're saying and are not really solution experts. Ace's Garage Door Repair & Installation came out on a weekend and I was very fortunate the repairman who came out had been out here a few years ago. He was not only familiar with my system but also with the components that failed and he had them on hand.

Service has been great. They're quick. I get an appointment the same day. I had a leak in a pipe that was caused by a nail. We were able to get that patched up. The tech was very informative. He didn't try to high ball or low ball, and told me exactly where the issue was and what it would be to fix it.

I noticed only the top heating coil was coming on in my oven. There's a little guard down below that protects the bottom heating element and when I lifted it up, the heating element had broken into three parts on the left hand side. I called AHS and AT Appliances came out. When I first got contacted, they were going to do a video-type appointment so I could show them everything. I told them I had all the information and that I had taken pictures of the part number off the back. I emailed it to them and I also sent a picture of the broken element. When the gentleman came out, he thought he had the right part but the lady at the office gave him the wrong part number. It took a month and a half to finally get everything taken care of and that was mostly waiting on the part to get delivered. But the tech was phenomenal and very polite. He knew what he was doing.

Overall, AHS has been good. The benefit of having it is being worry-free because I'm not a handy person and I don't need to worry too much about things happening in my home. For my recent claim, I saw the water coming through from one of the bathrooms, on the third floor to the second floor. Two guys came. They checked and they found that it was the ceiling and one of the toilets was broken. They cut a hole over there. They said they still needed somebody to come here to fix that hole.

I submitted the claim for the AC that was running nonstop and not cooling over the weekend. The contractor offered me an earlier appointment but I was out of town. They came the next day I was available. My husband thought the techs were really thorough and they did a great job. AHS has been prompt. They're great.

I woke up one night and pulled a cord in my fan. It was really hard and it came out. I called American Home Shield and paid the $100 deductible. These days and times that deductible is not bad because if you want a professional to come out and do your stuff, that would be tremendously high. You want to have your stuff done right. Repair people came and fixed the fan perfectly. There was a claim where I got the plumbing done and I paid the $100 deductible for the plumbing. I was told that I didn't get the gold plan but the next best to gold. They charged me an extra $75 because my plan didn't cover the part.

My air conditioner was acting up and wasn't getting cool. I called American Home Shield and got right through. I got a very nice customer service person who was very professional, friendly, and everything that you would want from a person when you call somebody. They gave me everything I needed. Someone then called me back within five minutes. The tech that came was very professional and nice too. He said the issue with the air conditioner was something that can be fixed. He was saying he needed something. He said, “Within half an hour, it will be getting cool again.” And it did. I haven't had problems since. Everything’s been good.
American Home Shield is excellent. I call them for anything and they send professional people. Techs come and do what they’re supposed to do. One time, they sent some guy and he couldn't fix the issue. He spoke to the owner and the owner of the company came and fixed the issue. It was great. I’ve never seen anything like that before.

We've had a really good experience with American Home Shield. It has saved us thousands of dollars. We had a garbage disposal that went out and we called and paid the automatic $100 service charge. It was a Friday and the contractor came out on Tuesday and replaced the garbage disposal. The tech had a garbage disposal in his truck and he replaced ours in less than an hour.

I decided to stay with American Home Shield because I knew, one of these days, my air conditioner will out. It would break down every summer and we would get it fixed. It was just a small thing. And I knew since it was old that eventually it would take a crap. And it did. SE Electric fixed my AC unit. Everything went fantastic.

My dad is a retired plumber and he noticed a small leak coming from the faucet. I noticed condensation under my sink and it started a couple of weeks before. My dad said I probably needed a new gasket. I live with my girls and I don't know anybody. That's why I have a home warranty. I called American Home Shield and put in a claim. They asked me exactly what was going on and I told them.
When the tech came, I told him where the issue was, what had happened, and explained again that I had wiped everything down and couldn't find anything. He looked and he ran the sink a little while. Very shortly, he says, "I don't see anything, but that doesn't mean that there's not one." He went out in his truck and got another faucet and put it in. The tech said, "I don't like doing just a gasket because it could be other issues or something with it." The tech and his companion explained to me how it works because it had little gadgets on it. They're getting fancier and fancier. He gave me the soap dispenser that came with the new faucet too. He took the old faucet and asked if I needed anything else. The faucet is 100% better. It's perfect.
So far, American Home Shield replaced the sink and they're replacing the dishwasher. They're pretty good. My dad has them too. On some things, it's cheaper to have the warranty than it is to call and hire somebody to come out and do the job. With my new house, it has had a lot of issues. We had the hurricane and my home insurance doesn't cover everything. Other than the AC issues or plumbing issues, American Home Shield has been really good.

A & R Complete Services replaced the fan motor that got seized up. They did good. The plumber came out fast and had the parts so he fixed it the same day. We've always had good luck with American Home Shield. I gotta call them though to make sure that the coverage for the pool is continued. They said they had made an error and took it off, but they called back and said they fixed it.

All of a sudden, the refrigerator and the freezer just stopped working. So, I called American Home Shield to let them know that. When Arrowhead came out here, the tech changed something and said, "Well, that should probably do it. But give me a call if it doesn't," and it didn't. I called him and he came back out here and he said that he thought it was the compressor. He said he was going to make a phone call and see what American Home Shield is going to do about it. I got a call stating that they were going to send a different repair company out here, which they did.
The guy came out today and he said he doesn't know if it's the compressor or not because he said that every time he plugs it in, it blows a circuit. He ordered this other part and that's going to be in supposedly in three to four days and they're supposed to come out here next Wednesday to put in that part and see if that's gonna help it. At this point, nothing's fixed but as far as personality and when I'm able to call, they're pleasant and I get somebody out here within a few days. It might have been four days when the first guy came out, and then this guy came out after another four days. I would tell others to go with American Home Shield.

I love American Home Shield's service. It doesn't hit your pocket when something goes wrong with things. I have an HVAC system and somehow, something went wrong with it. It was telling the outside unit that there was no Freon in it. Techs came out a couple of days before they were able to set up an appointment. That was more so because of my work schedule and their schedule. They had to replace a part. They ordered the piece and that took about two weeks. The repair was excellent once they did it. It took a while to really cool the house down but it didn't take long for the tech to do what he had to do and get the unit running.

It's really hard getting anything done with them. Mr. Roto-Rooter came out for a water heater. It failed. I got called in back to work and they came out and they gave the home warranty a quote. I chose not to have them pay Mr. Roto-Rooter in getting something done out of the warranty. I told them that I was gonna take the cash in lieu of the payment. I had a tripping bathtub faucet and American Home Shield sent out Mr. Roto-Rooter also. They fixed it and later on sent down some guy to do the drywall to patch up the hole they put in the wall to get to the access.
It's just really hard to get ahold of American Home Shield. For the water heater, I'm still waiting to get that cash in lieu of payment. It took me two phone calls to finally have them forward to their claims or their payback departments. Both times, they put me on hold for over a half hour while they were trying to get in touch with Mr. Roto-Rooter to get the quote. I was there when Mr. Roto-Rooter called it in and gave them the quote. I didn't know why it was taking so long. I still haven't seen money from them.

One of my air conditioners was running but the fan wasn't running so it wasn't cooling the house. I put in a claim on a weekend and the contractor called me at 8:00 Monday morning and set the appointment for Tuesday. It was pretty quick. The technicians that came fixed the air conditioner while they were there and it's been working fine. American Home Shield has always been very good and quick.

The top of the stove worked but the oven part wasn't getting hot. It just happened out of the blue and I called American Home Shield. They got me in contact with the company and told me they would reach out in two days. The company did and we scheduled the appointment. The tech came out, diagnosed the problem and said that they had to order a part. It came in that Thursday. The person who came out and did the diagnosis called me back, set up the appointment and came right back out. He was a very timely person. The oven works now and I have no problem at all. My co-worker has been in his home for a little bit and I told him to purchase AHS, and he did.

My ceiling fan was shaking. I did the claim through an automatic system. I had to call back later and speak to a actual person because I wanted to check to make sure my account was still updated, because when I was going through something, they had me to call in about my account. But everything was fine. They called back within 10 minutes and set up a schedule. The contractor came promptly. The techs were very polite and fixed the issue that I had. I was very comfortable with them being around.

I called American Home Shield and they sent a guy out four or five times. I was without air conditioning in the hottest part of the summer in Texas and I was without heat two weeks in the coldest part of the winter in Texas. The unit never worked right. I called American Home Shield and told them not to send them out. They sent Cool Effects By Larry and the guy did a great job. He repaired the unit and put a new thermostat. American Home Shield took care of everything and did a fantastic job. I highly recommend them to anybody who needs it. I bought a house two years ago and had one small repair. AHS got right on it and I just extended it and kept it going for the last two years.

The outside unit had stopped working. I called American Home Shield and got an automated system. The first time, somebody came within a day. The second time, it took about four days. The first timeline exceeded my expectations.

The air condition quit blowing when I filed the first claim. It was a week before anybody could get out, and they came out and replaced two capacitors. It was working when they left. Shortly afterwards, I was sitting outside and I heard it making a bad noise when it kicked on and off. So, I immediately called American Home Shield to get the contractor to come back out and check it. And when they did, it was a fan motor and a control board that they had to replace. My only complaint about the whole situation was that first week of waiting because it was very hot. Other than that, the contractor was very professional. They worked quickly. I liked them. I would go back to them again. I've recommended AHS to a lot of my friends.

So far, we’ve been pretty happy with AHS. They get the contractors out pretty quick. We had to have a heater replaced in our previous home and it still ended up costing $1,000 but they explained everything - what wasn’t covered and everything. Considering we got a whole new heater and new ductwork, $1,000 really wasn’t bad. Recently, they had to replace a part of our oven in our new home. Also, they couldn’t get the part for our spare fridge and they sent me a $1,200 Lowe’s gift card to replace it.

The refrigerator was not cooling properly. The claims process with American Home Shield was very smooth. The tech was also fabulous. He came on time and fixed the problem very quickly. The contractor that AHS sent out came out and another employee who works with him. They looked at the two units. With the unit on the main floor, they put some device on it and it started blowing. But, the next day, it stopped working. Instead of going back through American Home Shield, I just called someone else and had them come out. They ended up having to put another piece on there to make it work. Now, it's working.
They said that they couldn't repair my unit in the basement. It was out of Freon and they told me what it could possibly need. It was, "You could look at it and get it repaired, or you can compare it to get in a new unit. Then based on that, can decide if you want to get a unit." I said, “Okay, the coverage was extended to me through the previous homeowner. So, it should be on the coverage.” He went on to explain to me that the coverage that they had had just started in July, and there was a great possibility, because of that, that it was considered a pre-existing situation and my claims would not be approved.
He said, “You’re gonna write up our findings and call the 1-800 number, and they’ll give you an update.” That was what I did. However, I had some communication challenges because of the speech barrier with the person that was a customer service representative. I was trying to get them to tell me why it was denied, and they just kept giving me a generic response. I was like, “I hear what you're saying, but what you just said to me means nothing to me. I need you to articulate what that means.” And they couldn’t. I derived that this must be scripted. It’s like my conversation wasn’t engaging. I asked one question, but I still kept getting the same answer. I got a little frustrated at that point. I’m very dissatisfied with AHS. I’m thinking about switching with someone else.

On my house in California, American Home Shield is quick in responding whenever I have any problems. The contractors go there and fix things. And if they say they're gonna do something, they do it. The AC took about six months and finally the contractor said they couldn't repair it so AHS gave me a portion of the money to buy a new one. A new one cost me $6,000 and I was given 2,000. But the home warranty with AHS in my house in Miami is horrible.
There were three appliances, which included the dryer, the washer, and the refrigerator. The refrigerator and the washer were fixed but not the dryer. The company that did it put it as completed and when I called them, they said that the tenant told them that it was working. I called my tenant and I was told it was a lie. The company said they were gonna come back and they never did. So, I communicated over email with Linda, who in the past, helped me with the house in Miami. But it has been about two weeks now and she hasn’t responded. And I left a message, too, so I don't know what's going on there.

AHS has been good so far. We used them once. The fan motor ended up blowing. The repairman came out and fixed it. It was satisfactory.

The lights on my freezer weren't working at all and on the refrigerator, they were flashing like a strobe light. It started about a month before I called in the claim and the tech had to check the lights and figure out why they weren't working and not working properly. He checked all the boards and ordered new ones. He came back two weeks later with the replacement parts and fixed everything. He was very professional and had a wealth of knowledge. He did a great job. He was clean and didn't leave any mess. About 15 years ago, a friend of mine had a bunch of rent houses and he had American Home Shield on a rent house and he had very good experience with them. I gave it a try on my own personal house and I've been extremely happy ever since.

So far, the only thing that I don't like about American Home Shield is their honor to complete their contract. It was a process I had go through to get my microwave fixed. Astro did a video log of the microwave. I had to FaceTime and they just inspected it that way to see what was wrong. They said that it was irreparable based on the information that I gave. So then, I had to contact American Home Shield and tell them what they stated. I called back about three more times to get to the right department and say, "Hey, my microwave's not working. They're saying that it's irreparable." They had me do my own measurements. I felt like somebody should have seen the microwave and at least did the measurements for everything.

I've had American Home Shield for a very long time, and I've been relatively pleased but I've been more pleased lately than I had before. I can get ahold of them. It used to take forever to get somebody. I did submit a claim to them for the air conditioning. I was having a problem with it, and somebody came out, and it was some kind of a part that was needed. My part for it was going to cost me $2,000, so I wasn't really happy about that. They did have some kind of a buyout, and they sent me $315. They got the check right away. The unit was 20 years old, and there wasn't any sense in putting good money into bad, so I just went ahead and replaced the whole shebang. I had a swimming pool motor that they had to put a part on. They came right out and got it taken care of. I'm satisfied with it. I would recommend AHS. You pay that monthly fee, which is pretty stout. Then you pay $75 when somebody comes out to inspect it and fix it.

This is the second time I had to call the electrician out about the same issue. Same thing with an HVAC person. It never got resolved. But the first time the contractor came out, they said it was a HOA issue, and they didn't do anything further. This time they came out, they said, "We need to investigate why this isn't working." They submitted an update, American Home Shield approved it. They came back out and were able to find the source of the problem, which was in another unit. So, they were great. They found the problem and fixed it.

I've had some instances with American Home Shield where the correct contractor hasn't been sent to my house. I’ve had a contractor sent who didn't service my area. Then, I had another contractor that was sent to me to look at the dryer. It was a new dryer, and it ended up being a sensor that got replaced. The guy looked at it and said, "Well, I know what the problem is, but American Home Shield won't pay me enough money. So I'm not going to do the work." He marked down that he had completed the work. I got charged twice for that. I had another contractor that then came out. He said, "I know what the problem is. It's a sensor. Let me take it out." He also cleaned my vents out, but he didn't have to do that. It wasn't part of the service. He was very good.
About two years ago, I had an issue with the faucet on my bathtub. The contractor came out and took about two and a half months to diagnose what the issue was and then made a big hole in the wall and kind of left it that way. They eventually replaced the hole but they had to send a new person out from that company who then replaced the valve mechanism in the wall. Then I had to find somebody to fix the drywall. I've had other people that come out that have been very good. I've had some ceiling fans replaced. My air conditioner went wrong and nothing was done about that. I had to go and buy a whole new air conditioner. So, there are some things that worked very well, and there are other things that a lot of times are not as I would have expected them to be. Overall, there are more pros than cons at the moment. It's just for bigger issues, it tends to be more difficult.

I was with a warranty company and my claim was never assigned to one of the contractors in anything less than two weeks. Depending on what the claim was, that could have been really detrimental. I would eventually end up having to find my own contractor and then having to submit a claim to get reimbursed. There will always be a front-end cost, which is fine. But that’s just like in the gates part of the headache-free process that's usually associated with having a home warranty where somebody else does it. And so, it's great not to have to do that.
I met with contractors and asked them who they work with here in Manhattan, Kansas. A lot of responses had been American Home Shield. With American Home Shield, my claim went incredibly smoothly. As soon as I submitted it online and when the page refreshed, the claim was already assigned. That fact alone made it a great decision to switch to this home warranty. The rest of it was just streamlined or worked as any of the flyers said that it's supposed to. American Home Shield is terrific. I used their contractors before, out of my own pocket on different things. They're always professional, on time, and they fix what's broken.

Our hot water heater quit heating the water a day or two prior to us submitting the claim. It was on a Saturday because we had to wait till Monday to get someone to come out. But they texted me right away to indicate that they would be at our house between 12:00 and 3:00. We were very satisfied with the contractor. They ended up showing up early. They gave us a call letting us know they were on their way. They had all the parts needed to make the repair to our hot water heater and we've not had a problem since. So, we were very happy with them. We've had a good experience so far with American Home Shield.

For my recent claim with AHS, my microwave blew. They sent somebody out here from this appliance keep-up, and the guy said, “You need a new microwave. This cannot be fixed.” American Home Shield said, “Fine.” The model they were going to send me was a lovely model. But they kept saying that GE keeps back ordering it and this has been going on now for almost a year. I called on July 5th. They said, “They moved it back to October 24th." I called again a couple of weeks ago. She said, "Now they've moved it back to November. We have no control. It's the manufacturer.” I couldn't believe it's taken all this time. I also had somebody come out a week ago. My icemaker went. The tech came out here and put it right in. It’s working fine. I also had an issue with one of the burners on my stove, and they put that in, and that's working well, too.

My last claim was quick. The techs just flushed out the outside port to the air conditioner. They said it had algae in it. It was fixed. The water that was pouring into the pan did not come back. We also used AHS back in 2011 when we owned our other house. They are great.

We get a lot of good things done for a very reasonable price with American Home Shield. When the thermostat was not working, techs came very quickly and they did a wonderful job. The unit is now working great. I asked them about my attic fan. Once the air turns off and the temperature starts to drop, the air in the attic space takes a while to cool down. The techs said that was not their area of expertise.

The air conditioner wasn't cooling. We had 110 to 115 degrees temperatures, and you gotta have air conditioning. So the contractor came out, and the tech cleaned. It needed cleaning really bad and it has been working good ever since. He did a good job. That's the only time we've had to use American Home Shield's services, and we're very pleased with it.
There's a plumbing contractor that used to do work for this other company. The wife said, "We left that company, and they're a very good company. They're in the magazine monthly up here at Lake California. Very good service." But they went to AHS, and they're a good plumbing company. We were happy. And she said, "Well, that was the only one we were happy with." But they left.
When I called the AHS, I got another guy for plumbing. That was something I didn't expect, because a lot of the Realtors, right away, they don't give the people a choice, the same with us. They said, "Well, the other people pay for your first year, but they always go to the other company." I don't understand why they don't give them a choice of your company. They probably get a commission for recommending other companies. Other than that, we've been recommending AHS to friends because they've been very pleasant and easy to work with. We've been happy so far with their service so we'll continue to stay with them as long as they give us good service.

Appliance Avenue was a lot helpful compared to the previous guys, GM Appliance, who were very difficult to deal with. It didn't seem like they wanted to fix my washing machine that was leaving residue and lint all over my clothes. When I called back the fourth time, they canceled it and didn't bother telling me. The first tech that came in came from GM Appliance just pushed some buttons and didn't even bother checking or cleaning anything. He just said, “Your water level’s not rising. You need a new valve. I’ll order it. It'll be here in a couple of weeks.” The second tech came out, installed the valve, and told me everything should be good to go. We washed the clothes but it was the same thing. It kept leaving lint and residue all over the clothes.
I opened the claim again. American Home Shield sent out GM Appliance again. The guy came out, opened up the top of the machine, looked around, and said, “There's lint stuck here. You need to get it all cleaned up.” He recommended a product. I ordered it on Amazon. He told me to run it once and it should be fine. I ran it three or four times. I finished the entire product and went a few more cycles. But again, it was the same issue. I called American Home Shield and reopened the claim. I was waiting for a few days then when I didn't hear anything back, I called American Home Shield again. They said the request was canceled by GM Appliance and they were moving it to another vendor because GM Appliance was unable to repair the issue.
That was when the other vendor came in. The lady called me and said, “Can you explain what’s going on?” I explained to her then she told me they'd send me a tech out in a couple days. The tech came out and did the same thing. He said, “You need a new valve. Your water level’s not rising.” I wasn't home at the time but my wife was there. As soon as the gentleman left, my wife called me. I immediately called Appliance Avenue and spoke to the same lady. I told her, "When the very first guy came, he said the same thing. The valve was the issue. The water’s not rising. They already replaced the valve.” She said, “Let me find out what's going on.” She called American Home Shield and apparently, there was no fix to it. She was very helpful that she got them through to approve me for a newer machine. Her customer service was excellent.

I did my previous claim for the AC online on the American Home Shield website. When I had an issue with the unit again, I tried to send in the claim online but it would not let me. It said it took the claim, but it would not take my payment for the deductible so I had to call the 800 number. I called the customer service and the rep informed me that they were doing some upgrades to the system. So it was just timing.
When the tech came out, he asked me what was happening. I told him that the air conditioner was not cooling and I noticed it the day before, and that what I did was I went to the breaker and cut everything off and put it back on. The air came on but come to find out the air conditioner did not come back on. It was just the fan that was blowing. He asked me to try it on on the inside and I did. He did a diagnostic. He asked me how old was the system. I told him it was 12 years. He told me that the motor was rusted. He said it was more than likely just wear and tear. But the air conditioner works now.
This was the second time that I made a claim with American Home Shield. I was very displeased with American Home Shield because of the way I was treated when I put in a claim for my upstairs restroom and the bathtub downstairs. The tech informed me that the manufacturer of the commode that I had upstairs had recalls on them and that it was a very common issue with them. He told me that he would be coming back out to check the Jacuzzi. I ended up getting was a notification from American Home Shield saying that we damaged the commode. I called them and said, “What do you mean we damaged? That is porcelain. There's nothing that I had that I can hit and crack porcelain.” I explained what the tech said, and then they denied my claim. They never checked my downstairs Jacuzzi. They never worked on it. No one ever came back out, and so to this day, I still don’t have it fixed.
As far as American Home Shield, I do appreciate them taking care of this AC. But I did not feel like I was treated fairly with that. The individual that I spoke with at the time said that there was nothing that they could do about it and I was out of luck. So I left it alone. But American Home Shield should follow through. Other than that, I've always been a fan of American Home Shield. For the price that you pay, it’s worth having. The mere fact that my AC system and my disposal were repaired, the end justifies the means.

The dishwasher in a rental property I have wasn't working. The contractor had to order a part, but it came in sooner than expected. It only took about three weeks. I was expecting it to take months to get the part, with everything being so slow these days. My daughter's the tenant, and she was very happy with the service person that came out.

Our refrigerator was leaking water and it wasn't getting cold. The first guy that came put a relay on there but that didn’t work. Lake Appliances came out, took off the relay, and put on another one. That didn’t work either. Quality Services then came out and took off that second relay and put on a third one in. But that didn’t work. Quality Services told me I needed a compressor. This refrigerator has been the worst thing that ever happened. We’ve not had a refrigerator in over a month. I called Thursday or Friday and they told me that the part was ordered on August 31st. It could take 8 to 10 business days.
On the whole, I would recommend Home Shield because they respond when you put in a request. But I’m assuming that these guys around here don't know what to do with the refrigerator. It’s Home Shield’s fault that they don’t know their product, telling them the incorrect information, and Home Shield just assuming that the information is correct.

I needed a new air conditioning unit and I ended up paying for it myself. American Home Shield only wanted to pay $900 towards it. It was $16,000. It was 21 years old so it needed to be replaced. But for everything else, American Home Shield has been wonderful. They just replaced my refrigerator. A couple months back, they replaced my dishwasher. I'm very pleased with American Home Shield. I've had good luck with them. Sometimes it takes a little bit longer to have somebody come out, but that's not their fault.

There was no water pressure in the kitchen and the water was coming out like a fine stream. Then, there was a leak downstairs under the toilet. The repair guy fixed both of those and he replaced the faucet. The repair guy was nice and he told me to give him a call if it didn't work out or if it stopped. I told him that if it's working fine, he wouldn't hear from me. He made sure that everything's working fine before he left. I like that when you call American Home Shield, they appoint a person for us and then send them right out. If we don't hear from them, we have a couple of numbers to contact them. So, the service has been good. People would be pleased with the company.

I've been using the air conditioning for more than one month and everything was fine. But one day, it looked like it was causing some icy things on all sides. The guy who came over said it was low on refrigerant. Then he checked everything and recommended me to clean the filter. So I cleaned the filter and everything was good to me. The person was very good, knowledgeable, and professional.

My showerhead was leaking. Fadden Plumbing reached out to me the day I submitted the request with AHS, which I wasn't expecting, because, usually, it takes a few days to schedule that. Someone came over and they were great. They fixed the leak properly and it all went well.

I love American Home Shield for the simple fact you got appliances that go wrong, and you pay that monthly fee for a reason. You call them up. They send somebody out to fix your appliance without stress to you worrying about coming out of your pocket paying for a new unit. Whoever they contracted out to come perform the job, both the companies were very professional. My recent claim was in reference to the heating coil on the dryer. The contractor came out, had to order a part and come back, and fixed it. It went smooth.

I cancelled my previous home warranty provider and called American Home Shield. I had a nice chat with a woman. She explained to me everything that they would do. My first claim went off smoothly as it could. The washer broke. It was going through the wash cycle but was not going through the spin and drain cycle. I filed a claim with American Home Shield and received a notice saying who my repairman was to be, what his phone number was, when he was supposed to be here, and if I hadn't heard from him within 24 hours to give him a call. I gave him a call and it turned out he was very close in New Buffalo, which is about six miles from me. He was supposed to come on a Wednesday and he did. He was here for about 20 minutes and the problem solved. He was the owner and he not only repaired the unit but also detail by detail explained to me what my problem was, explained how he went to fix it, showed me the part that was broken, showed me the new part that he was to put in, and put it in. It was excellent.

I made a claim that my dishwasher was no longer working. Bonita’s Way determined that our dishwasher was no good. We ordered a dishwasher online. The dishwasher was delivered here. When Bonita’s Way put it together, it was all damaged. When they took it out of the box, it was completely crushed. I called the other day on Monday, and I spoke to somebody, and they said they were gonna have somebody come out and pick this up. But no one has contacted me and no one's come to pick it up. We also ran into another potential problem when the dishwasher was taken out, the pipe was cracked under the sink. When we turn on the sink, it's leaking on the floor. We're going on two months now and I still haven't resolved the issue. I talked to American Home Shield and they said that they're reaching out to some Spirit or whatever place. But I haven't heard anything from them.

We have American Home Shield on our new house and I like it, or I wouldn't have switched from our old house to our new house. It's less money when we had to have repairs. The deductible is usually equal to what a service call would be, and I'd have to pay for the repair besides that. Recently, our air wasn't working. The water was backed up and there's an automatic shut-off. It happened on a Friday night and the contractor was there on Monday. Things have been fixed in a timely manner. So, I'm happy.

American Home Shield's service is convenient. If I have a problem, I like going online and not having to go through too many people. I check a box on what my problem is and then, they find a professional. They have a lot of Facebook pages in town and the people who have hired some people who have messed things up. Thus far, I haven't had any problems like that. The repair guy I have now is good. He was working on the dishwasher and he is in the process of fixing the dishwasher right now.

I tried to submit the claim online multiple times. I tried to change to a different credit card and a bank account but it wasn't going through. I had to call. Other than that, the tech was very professional. He went upstairs to find the problem and resolved it very quickly. Shortly afterward, the problem recurred. I called and the tech came back immediately and re-flushed the system.

I need coverage for things that will break down, especially the older they get. American Home Shield is doing a pretty good job right now. They are very reliable and I like them. One of the vent things in my dryer got messed up and techs came and repaired it. They were good and professional. The dryer is working better now and it's not trying to close up.

I feel good about American Home Shield, and I plan on renewing. Recently, my air conditioner unit gave out of freon. I was taught the difference between the plans. I came out of pocket more than I would have liked to but I'm glad I have American Home Shield when it happened. I appreciate what was done. We were getting a lot of rusty water coming out of the bathtub. When you first turned it on, it was black and brackish, then it would be brown, rusty water, and then it'd go clear after a while. It was almost like a sediment. So, Ace came out the first time and once their tech opened the valve, it wouldn't shut. So, he put a valve on it, drained the system, flushed it, and it seemed to be fine. The guy explained everything he was going to do, told me why it needed to be done, and when he was done, he cleaned up and explained what it was.
But we went on a little trip and when we came back a few days later, it was doing the exact same thing. So, I called back the company and they got right back to me. They scheduled a time and gave me a timeframe on when their tech could be there. The same guy came back and he always showed up within their timeframe. This time, he brought two extra people and they looked on the issue together. That way, he already knew what was going on and could walk them through it so they could figure out what it needed. They weighed all the options and called American Home Shield. After all that, they came and said that I needed a whole new tank. So, Home Shield paid for the tank and the install, then I paid for some updates for the code since the tank that was in there was put in the '90s.

The contractor recently came out for a refrigerator. I had visible smoke coming out of the bottom of it. At first, I didn't get a phone call from the company for a couple days. I tried calling the company, but I wasn't getting ahold of anyone. But Friday at 6 o'clock, someone called me. I couldn't get to it because we have a couple of small kids and we were making dinner. They left a voice message and said something about an appointment available for some time the following week. But when I tried to call back to confirm, I couldn't get that for a couple of days again. So, I called back American Home Shield. I said, “I need some help. I don't really know what's going on.” They were able to get ahold of the contractor and confirm it was for the following Friday, that it was on the schedule, and someone would come out. I didn't know that that was happening.
The contractor was professional. I did the video call to assess the situation. That was also very easy and the person was polite. They did what they needed to do. And the person that came out was professional and able to make the solution. They were able to identify it right away. That was nice. But I still have a leak. And they ordered a part for me. I have the part at my house. I'm still waiting for a phone call from American Home Shield. I called them today and they said someone would call me back.

Our AC was turning off at a certain time at night and there was water condensing. The tubes were clogged and it was tripping the sensor alarm so it shut down the system. The techs came and they were very informative and diligent. Everything went perfectly.

I had to have Freon put in my air conditioner and I had to pay like $80 a can of Freon, and I needed like eight cans of Freon to put in. I paid about $800. The AC is working well now.

My water heater burst and did water damage to my walls. American Home Shield said they couldn’t replace it until everything is fixed and then, I got two letters from them saying that it was denied. But someone else told me that I just have to call and reopen it to let AHS know that it's been fixed. The communication with AHS needs to improve. You do the claim and you're on your own. You have to wait until the company calls you and sometimes, they don't call until you call American Home Shield to follow up.

I called in about a refrigerator on about the 18th last month. It's a Dimchae refrigerator and it's made in Korea. The first tech who came out couldn't understand the language on it, so he couldn't do anything with it. Then, another tech called me on the phone and said he didn't understand it either. So it was no use for him to come out. Then I got one that's coming out tomorrow, supposed to be the jack of all trades, and we'll see what will happen. I've used my AHS warranty before and there's never a problem. I had claims for my air conditioner and a freezer and the techs fixed that. The service is pretty good and I have no complaints with them. But this time, it seems like it's taking forever for them to figure out the right person to come out and do it.

I wasn't happy that I had to wait six weeks to get my air conditioner repaired. I was still a bit surprised that I had to pay 500 bucks on top of the Home Shield deductible. But that was mostly for the lost refrigerant, which Home Shield only pays at $10 a pound, and it actually cost about $175 a pound.

My whole fridge wasn’t working properly. I did the claim through Home Shield and explained to their rep what was going on about the fridge, and he came over. He looked at it, and he said he had to order parts for it. He ordered the parts for it. I thought he fixed the problem, but apparently, he didn’t. The freezer is freezing, but the top part of my fridge is still acting up. My fridge is not getting cold, and everything inside is not getting cold as it’s supposed to. American Home Shield did fine about sending out somebody to repair it.

The faucet was leaking and American Home Shield sent someone who fixed it. They jumped up in price like 20 bucks. Everything jumps in price. I just wasn't expecting a $20 jump. I was expecting $5 or $6. Other than that, everything's good. I like the option to pick and choose my items versus just a blanket that is, “Okay, this is what we're going to cover. If you want to do this, it's extra.”

My refrigerator, initially, it’s not getting cold. Then, it just went out. It’s been repaired through American Home Shield. The technician was very professional and kept us informed about everything. Having AHS takes the worry out. Being able to just call and have things done and not have to look for a technician is a convenience for me.

The drainage pump went out on my washing machine. My wife set up the claim and American Home Shield reached out the next day saying they had somebody in the area between a certain time. The guy showed up and fixed my washing machine. He carried parts in his van to fix my stuff. So, we didn’t have to wait.

Our AC system quit working. It stopped blowing, it was freezing up, and the inside air handler and ductwork filled with 20 gallons of water poured into my house. Ace Heating & Cooling changed the capacitor and vacuumed out the water. Was supposed to submit to AHS a quote to replace the air duct. But they never did it. The AC stopped working again, and then it started growing mold on the blower fan, and then they submitted a claim to AHS for it. AHS denied the claim because, now, it had bacterial growth. But it had a growth on it because of the 20 gallons it was dumping inside my house that they never submitted with AHS before. So, I am not really happy at all about the whole situation. I'm really pissed. The interaction with the techs was okay, though. The first guy barely spoke any English, but then the second guy was okay.

The toilet wouldn’t stop running. The young man that came out was courteous, cordial, and knowledgeable. Very professional. He did something inside the toilet and replaced a valve. So far, so good. The problem had stopped. We're satisfied with this tech.
