American Home Shield is a home warranty provider that offers service plans throughout the contiguous United States. It offers three home warranty plan options, priced from $29.99 to $89.99 per month, with either a $100 or $125 service fee. In addition to normal wear and tear, plans cover breakdowns from rust, insufficient maintenance and faulty repairs, which are often excluded from home warranty coverage.

We've had a positive experience with American Home Shield. They are a bit challenging though. If there is any issue, the customer service tries to resolve it. But sometimes, things get misunderstood with their personnel. But overall, we've been able to use it for quite a bit around the house and we're grateful for it. We had our dishwasher break and something else with our pool that happened that they repaired, and some smaller plumbing issues. We have enjoyed the technicians, especially for the pool. They are very knowledgeable. One of the plumbers that was sent out, while he fixed the problem in the immediate situation, didn't put things back correctly so there are some issues now, but nothing awful.

My dishwasher was leaking water. The first company that American Home Shield sent me that I paid $100 for never showed up. I reached out back to American Home Shield, then the company called me back. They said they were sorry and that we could reschedule. I told them I didn't trust their professionalism. American Home Shield sent Sears. Sears was terrific. They had me videotape so they'd be ready when they came out. They came quickly and brought the part. It was fairly quick. However, I'm not quite satisfied with American Home Shield because there's another issue that I was totally not satisfied with. It was with my electrical system. They denied me the coverage. Now, I've got to pay for somebody to come and switch out the switches for my low-voltage electrical system. They don't have to replace it, just fix the switches. I don't understand why they wouldn't do that and I have to pay for it.

My dishwasher wouldn't shut off, so Paul's Appliance replaced the control bar at the top. I had a real good experience. The only thing is the time. It was about a week before they came out and the repair man had to order a part. It was another week that the part came in, then it was another week before he could get back out. Other than that, he did a great job, and it's working fine now.
I like having American Home Shield. I don't have to worry about my appliances, and if there's an issue, they have someone come out. It's just the price has gone up, like everything else. Also, I had to reschedule a service one time, and it was hard to get ahold of anybody by the phone. I've learned now that text was the best way to do it. Another thing is I live out in in the country. I'm about 50 miles out of Bryan–College Station, and my mailing address is Anderson, but American Home Shield always sends somebody from Montgomery or somewhere else, which is further away than Bryan–College Station. Paul's Appliance is in Bryan, but there was a company that AHS sent out and they were out of Montgomery. I've had good luck with them, too. The guy did great. Overall, I'm pleased with American Home Shield.

For the most part, I'm pleased with the service and the claims process through American Home Shield has been good. But at times, I've had issues with them. When they send some of the contractors out to fix things, the contractors will decline jobs. And as a consumer, I have to take off time for work to be at the home when the repair needs to be made. So, there's been times for the same issue that I had to make multiple trips to my house. I got very frustrated and I called AHS and told them not to send anybody else out to my house that's not able to make the repair on the spot. I understand sometimes they might not have all of the parts but AHS sends multiple companies out. But in the last two calls that I've had, the companies have been good.

I haven't been pleased with my service with American Home Shield and I’ve been following up on their part as far as what they say they're going to reimburse you for, and then I haven't been reimbursed. So, I cancelled my policy. They gave me incentives to keep my policy by offsetting some of the cost. They told me they would cover a repair. They even talked to the roofer and the roofer told them what was wrong. The roofer said that he got prior approval and then, he did the work. But AHS wouldn't reimburse me because they said that they didn't give prior approval. We have names and dates of who we talked to and whatnot. So, it was stressful. AHS’ service is marginal at best. I had another claim that they paid on but the contractor said he knows how to work the system with them, so he was able to get it covered. But that’s not good, either.

The belt on my dryer broke and I submitted the claim to American Home Shield online but I ended up calling too because they wanted me to take a picture of the model so they can give all the information to Mr. Appliance. The tech quickly figured out the belt was broken, put a new belt on and away he went. It took him 15 minutes. I had to pay 100 bucks to American Home Shield and for Mr. Appliance to come out and you're gonna pay that whether you use a warranty or not. It's the way it works now. I've been using AHS for a couple years now and they replaced my washer because we couldn't fix it. They also fixed my dishwasher. I got AHS a couple of years ago because I have a furnace and AC unit that was 25 years plus. Last year, they fixed my AC unit a couple times. It's like two life insurances for your appliances so you don't get hit with a huge bill.
When my washing machine died, AHS told what the model was that I could get for free. Or if I wanna step up to this model, I could and it would cost me X. It was a nice option to have. We ended up taking the free one, because that was available. My wife didn't like the nicer one so we just took the one that came and we've had it for two plus years, and it’s working fine. When I started, the cost was 48 bucks a month for the plan. I've used it a couple of times and now, it's 60 bucks a month. So, over the last two years, it had gone up 12 bucks a month. Just like your car insurance, use it and the price can go up. But if you have an older house or older appliances, it's a no-brainer.

The dishwasher wasn’t working properly. Once we opened it up, there was water at the bottom that didn’t drain out. The contractor repaired that. They also noted that the handle wasn’t working properly so they replaced that. They had to order a part for the dishwasher, and it came within days of the initial repair work that they did. I was satisfied with the service, in getting somebody else to repair it then having new people come and repair it.

I'm not liking American Home Shield. The only thing I happen to have problems with is my air conditioner and if they can replace the part, there's no problem, and I do that for $100. But if it has something to do with Freon or cleaning, they will charge me fully. The customer service is not that bad, but they still can't do much for you. I really thought it would save me money on my air conditioner because I have two units, but it is really terrible. But the young man that came out for the air conditioner was very thorough.

The washing machine was off balance. It wasn’t spinning and wringing my clothes out. I called American Home Shield and they sent somebody around right away. The people they sent were professional, courteous, and got the job done.

Our dishwasher stopped draining. I filled out a claim request form on the American Home Shield website and they let me know via text message that they were sending someone out and they had assigned Chaney Appliance as the provider. After I got the text message, a tech came in about 48 hours. He was perfect and I would hire him for another job any day. I have an old dishwasher and they had to order a part, which sadly was on backorder.
After four weeks, Chaney Appliance came back and said, "It seems like that date went from backorder to no date at all." That's when American Home Shield stepped in and they were able to get the part. Within two weeks of them ordering it, Chaney was able to replace the old parts in my washing machine and get the unit up and working. They were very proactive and quick. American Home Shield is great.

We had the service last month and it was excellent. It took four to five days after we requested a service. There was a leak on the water heater, and a sump pump that was not working. The tech fixed that one as well. So, he fixed everything on the same day. He was nice and knowledgeable.

My refrigerator stopped cooling. Everything went great. The tech was very professional. He diagnosed the issue to be the compressor. So, they had to get somebody who is certified for heating and cooling. Two hours later, a tech replaced the compressor and it's been working really well since they fixed it.

The heat was not switching over. There was something you have to adjust so that the heat is supposed to click on. American Home Shield is great. I went online and made my payment. In the next 24 hours, they were reaching out to me. They got me connected with a service company. The company called me and told me to set up the time. Everything was efficient and quick. It was incredible. The techs came on time and they took out the filter. They said it looked like it might have been there for two to three years. They ran a test and the unit started working. It’s been working ever since.

My sink was backing up and I needed a pipe fixed in the basement. The process with AHS was smooth. They sent someone out right away. The tech was very knowledgeable and professional. He remedied the problem. AHS is saving me money.

About seven times that the AC would turn on or turn off, I would hear this weird clicking sound that sounded like an electrical thing. Whenever I would turn on my light in my kitchen, I would hear that weird clicking sound. So, I thought it was a circuit breaker issue. I contacted American Home Shield to come and investigate, give me a diagnosis, and then hopefully fix it without costing too much. It was just an old smoke detector that hadn't been replaced, so every time when certain things were turned on in my unit, it would aggravate the smoke detector. A gentleman came, replaced it, and was like, "Hey, test it as much as you want. Turn the light on 20, 30 times, turn the AC on and off, see if you get any noises." Ever since then I've not had a single electrical problem. I'd recommend the gentleman's company and definitely use them again.
I've only used American Home Shield to get new locks on my door and for the electrical work that ended up being a replacement of the smoke detectors. Both of those experiences were great. I'm looking forward to continuously work with them. They contract with some really great people. I had some excellent customer service from the people that I've worked with. I'm grateful for having this warranty because I didn't want to have to pay for stuff out of pocket myself.

The technician did what he did and it didn’t take him long to fix the appliance. It’s working fine now. I've had previous services from other home warranty places and when I needed them, there was a lot of damage because they didn't show up. Or when they did, they were delayed. So, I switched to American Home Shield. Ever since I've been with them, when I need assistance, they show up, complete the job and I don't have any problems. They have good customer service. I had a little problem and when it came up, they aimed to satisfy the customer. It's one thing in having a person come out and service your house. But what the company does to try to keep their customers is another thing. And when problems come up, that's what I'm looking for. I need you to be able to fix my problem and that's what I admire American Home Shield for, that when I have a problem, they are there to solve that problem.

Our microwave was malfunctioning. We called American Home Shield and requested a service technician come out and review it. The service technician was in touch with us by phone and then the service technician requested. He told us that he would be talking to GE. We went on to the computer and selected the appliance to replace it. It was a very easy process. They came back and installed a new one. They were very professional. They called us in advance to let us know they were coming. They also called us when they got here. They did the installation in 15 minutes and were friendly and professional. They left and took the old equipment with them.

I have a problem with my fan and American Home Shield sent Certified Electrical. It took them a couple of days to come out. They did very well. I had a problem with AHS on my water heater, though. The customer service was pretty slow. It took somebody 45 days to come out. They could give better service, and the contractor should not overprice parts and labor. They have overpriced the parts and labor of what it is supposed to be.

My washing machine's timer was not advancing. Getting ahold of them was very easy. The contractor was excellent. The techs diagnosed the issue and ordered a timer. AHS did a very good job.

My air conditioner completely stopped working. It was working one day, then the next day, it wasn't. I submitted a claim then Fast Response Heating & Cooling called me and said they had available appointments at such and such time or day and they said they will be there within the hour. So, that particular day, I was able to turn around and go meet them. The tech replaced a little tube of something, and the unit worked for the evening and the next day. The day after that, we noticed that it was not working anymore. So, we shut the system off for 24 hours just to be sure it wasn't getting freezing, then we turned it back on and same issue. Nothing was working. I called American Home Shield, and they said they would get in touch with them and resend them back out.
Fast Response reached out to me, but I was at work when they called and could not be there within the hour. They rescheduled, and again, I was at work when they called. They have never been able to schedule a time to come after 5:00, and I don't have time at my job to take off work. I tried to see if they could do an evening appointment, but they couldn't guarantee me one and I have not heard back from them since then.
My brother had American Home Shield, and he was ranting and raving about how awesome it was. It is a good coverage to have for homeowners or home renters to just ensure, when issues arise in your house, you're covered. You're not panicking, wondering how they're gonna make it happen. Everybody needs that, and I recommend strongly that people have it.

We had something we were trying to get repaired. Once we had the person come out and paid the fee, they said that it was not covered due to the particular way that it broke. That's in the policy, so that's understandable. I asked the company who came out if they could go ahead and fix it especially because we had already paid $125 to have it looked at. They came back and said, “We can't fix it because that's a conflict of interest. We were sent by American Home Shield." I had to call someone else and pay them again to come and evaluate it. That was a waste. I didn't understand why, if it's something that's not covered for whatever reason in the policy, we can not use the company that's already partnered with American Home Shield since we have to pay out of pocket anyway. But when I had called American Home Shield’s customer service, one person said, “Just call back to the company that came out.” So far, I haven't been totally pleased with how that panned out.

We used American Home Shield twice and it came through fine. Everything was fixed. The service was fantastic. We had repairs done for a water leak, a pipe leak and an air condition leak. The techs were very professional and got it done.

United Air Temp came out to fix my AC that needed a new coil. They had to order the part then they came back to fix the part. There was something else that was wrong on the heat side, so they came back and fixed that. I love them. They've been the same people whenever I've needed anything done. They know my system, they know me, and they also service other units in my neighborhood. I am well pleased with American Home Shield and I recommend them to everyone. I'm about to go change my plan to a different one than the one that I have now. I like the combo one which covers a lot. But the newer one covers roof.

The AC unit was not working properly. It would stop and it would work sometimes. Eventually, it ended up being that the motor for the fan was not working properly. So, the tech changed it and everything is good now. The first time he came out, he came in the next day after I submitted the claim with AHS, but he had to come back because he didn't have the part that he had to replace. So, he set it up on Friday, but he ended up having to come on Monday.

American Home Shield has sent someone out a bunch of times to fix my refrigerator. Finally, it got fixed with the last company that came. The previous company kept on telling me some issue, and then the guy came out from the second company and fixed it in a matter of one time. The first company sucked. I told the tech what it was, and he kept on telling me it was this, it was that. So, I kept on paying for no absolute reason.

In the first couple of years, we had major issues with our furnace and American Home Shield had it fixed to the point where it runs but it's not the most efficient. Usually, there is always the contractor A & J that comes out and they've been pretty good. They've always been courteous and kind. They cleaned up after themselves. I'm not really fond of American Home Shield's online portal for claims. I'd rather speak to somebody so that I know that my issue is going to be addressed. Other than that, everything's gone through. It's been nice to only have to pay a little bit out of pocket rather than thousands.

So far, AHS is good. They covered everything. They didn't give me a new dryer, but that's fine. They fixed it. It just broke again. I just had to get a new one. Mr. Appliance of East Texas was very good. They changed the fuse and did a whole tune-up on my dryer. They tuned up my dishwasher when it was messed up and it's still working. But AHS doesn’t cover digging a new well. They just cover the well pump.

American Home Shield in general has been okay. I like the fact that I have that coverage just in case I need it. But I'm also leery of using it because if a unit goes out, they won't cover stuff. There are policies that they have in place that I don't agree with because it leaves room for a lot of loopholes that their contractors like to exploit. That's not their fault. It's the actual company they contracted.
There's a lot of stuff that AHS doesn't cover. I work in the automotive business, and I deal with auto extended warranties, which work in the same manner that AHS does. So in this situation, say we find a bad part which was the cause of the failure, but it caused damage to another part. In a lot of cases, even with extended warranty companies, they will cover those parts because it happened as a result, more like a collateral effect.
In AHS, when I first used them, I had an electrical issue that was determined to be a problem inside of the walls to where they would have to open the walls up to get to the problem. AHS will cover the actual repair, but they will not cover the demolition of the wall or the reassembly with new sheet rock. So, I ended up with a $2,500 bill to fix the electrical stuff. I ended up not even using the warranty for that because it would have just cost me a lot more money to do that. And I ended up finding another way to get it fixed, which I wasn't happy about because I pay 600 bucks a year for this warranty, and it upset me that that was the situation.
More recently, I had to file a claim for my washer. And the process in doing that, they just give the contractors much leeway on situations like that. Because I had to wait over two weeks for this contractor to fix the washer. They had to order a part. I'm mechanically inclined. So, I don't just take what people tell me. I do research on things and make sure that what I'm being told is factual. I found that part to be available here in town within a day.

When I submit a claim to American Home Shield online, they send me an email saying that someone would be coming out from such and such a company. The contractor would call, set up a date and then they would come. When there was water leaking from something that was in the basement, the tech came and showed my husband the issue. It was something you could either turn off or up, and he showed my husband how to do it and then left.

American Home Shield covered items and I liked the speed at which the items got fixed. Sometimes, you have to wait for parts. But that’s not the repair person’s fault nor is it the home warranty’s. I had a compressor go out on my fridge and that would have been the cost of the fridge. It turned out to be a wiring issue and that was covered. American Home Shield also had my washer fixed a couple of times with no problems. They’re there. But there is one thing that does not make sense. They covered my refrigerator freezer but would not cover my standalone freezer downstairs.

Dobkins was great. AHS had sent someone else out for my claim and they said I needed a new air conditioner. This guy from Dobkins said he didn't know that particular kind of air conditioner because he said that it was complicated. But he got it running. It was all good. But we had a difficult time this last time because they kept getting the address and the zip code wrong. Everybody thought they were going to Lompoc instead of up north. It was human error and nobody wanted to own it. It took three phone calls before I could get them to get it right. It was very aggravating.
Another time, when the air conditioner guy went out to do my mom's air conditioner, AHS was gonna send somebody out but they said they couldn't do it, so they ended up calling somebody else. But when we called them, we had to pay the $100 upfront. So I paid the $100, and the next thing I know I was getting a notice in the mail saying that my account was gonna be terminated because I owed them $100. I told them, "I did not cancel the 100." They finally told me the truth, someone from their office canceled it. But when they've got it together, it works great.
They also came out and put a new cooktop in my mother's house. They've also done plumbing. But that plumbing, since they don't do any of the outside-of-the-house plumbing, that hot water heater cost me 800 bucks. They bought the hot water heater, but I had to pay for the labor. Then the tech said, "Do you mind if I turn your sprinklers off?" I said, "No." But he didn't tell me he was turning them off permanently. So he cut the pipes to all my outside water, so we had no water outside at all anymore. Then, they charged me to put it back together. But that had nothing to do with American Home Shield, it was a deployment outfit that they sent me. It's been a good experience with AHS.

American Home Shield has been great. I called them for a clog in the line that had to be flushed out. The drip pan was full of water. The contractor texted me and called to set up the appointment. They called when they were 20 minutes out. They came, fixed the problem, and were gone within an hour. It was the claim that went the best. We had filed three claims in three weeks and the other ones are not going so well.

Our AC stopped working. Within a couple of days after I called them, a tech came. He switched out a part and the AC worked. AHS was easy to deal with and it was a good experience. They give us peace of mind.

The claim with the locksmith was successfully done but this time, we're still trying to figure out what American Home Shield is going to cover because I'm trying to get Frog Pro Services to fix or test out the heating system in my home. They just got back to me saying that they added them again but they have not called me to get a date to come back out. Sometimes, I had to call continuously about the same thing and a lot of the issues are band-aided and not taken care of. AHS sends someone out but it gets aggravating because they could just fix it right the first time.

I've been with American Home Shield for three years. They've always been responsive. I expanded it to another house. I've suggested it to other people. Everyone I've talked to has been thankful. I've heard terrible things from other people about this company, but I have had nothing but good business. I've used multiple things with Budget AC. Every time Budget has come, they've done an excellent job. They're excellent with their website, telling me when they're coming, following up. I use quite a bit of services through my home warranty service and Budget is one of the best.

The switch of the kitchen didn't work. The tech changed the reception outlet and everything worked fine. I had a good experience. Get AHS right away. When I call, they always recommend which company to get. I get that company and right away AHS covers it.

I had a water leak. So the contractor came and looked at it. They repaired it and then left. In the next day or two, they came out and patched the ceiling area. They were nice. They worked together. The only issue I had with American Home Shield one time was to repair our air conditioning. They sent one contractor out and he took the information. Every time I tried to get somebody to help, they kept saying there was something like an order that was supposed to be coming from the contractor that came out to American Home Shield. So I went around that for a couple of months. Then I just did a complete new order because I could not get anybody. It was frustrating.

Our water heater wasn't working anymore and American Home Shield said it was due to wear and tear, which they're notorious for doing. They only paid for the water heater, the labor, and the disposal and I had to fork over $684 in addition to that. I had to pay for the permit for the State of Nevada, earthquake straps, drain pan, sediment trap, waterline modification, and temperature pressure modification. I was dissatisfied with them.

The contractor put the wheels back in the tracks and greased it up a little bit. But right now, the garage doesn’t work. I have to have the door replaced because they didn't fix the issue to begin with. So, it caught on one of my cabinets in the garage and tore the cabinet off and bent one of the panels in the door. It’s not covered through American Home Shield. So, we’re gonna have to pay out of pocket to get a whole new door.

Everything has been great. We’ve had a lot of service calls in the last year and a half for different things going on the home. The work has been really good. Nice Guy Appliance was amazing. They came out when the stove igniter went out. They did an amazing job. The tech was really clear. He had a part on hand. He put it together very quickly. Our kitchen is fully remodeled and he was very respectful of everything. So it was a really good experience.

The tech who did the key was very prompt. But the plumber still hasn't come. He's looking the correct faucet but he still has not come out. He offered me a different one but it was too small so I told him, “No, that won't work. I need one with a larger neck.” It's been three weeks at least.

The tech initially thought the problem was the AC unit capacitor. He put a capacitor on it and checked the gas. He then said, “We really need to check it with it running.” He turned on the breaker and it wasn't working. He then said that something was wrong with the breaker box. But when the electrician came, he reset the breaker and said that they were good breakers. He said things should be fine. We turned the air conditioner on and that was it.
The AC techs were supposed to come back and recheck the gas but I haven't heard from anyone. I was hoping that they would call and say how the thing is going. I just have to contact Home Shield and ask them what they're gonna bill me to have the electrician come out and reset the breaker.

The bathroom kept leaking and I was constantly hearing water drain. There was also a leak in the shower. Their website was easy to use. They gave us the name of the contractor right after I submitted the claim. The techs were great. I had multiple problems and it took them a while. They ended up pulling a small tape measure from one of the pipes inside the toilet. For the leak in the shower, they had to bring a part to replace it with. It hasn't leaked once since. It’s an older home so I'm surprised they got it to work at all.

I had an AC issue and it was 84 degrees in the house. It was very easy to contact AHS. The contractor called me and told me that they had the service claim and that the tech was ready to come. I asked them to make sure they call me 30 minutes prior to him coming and he did exactly what was requested. He was very professional and he introduced himself. He kept me updated as far as what the issues were with the AC. I've been back with AHS for a couple of years and it's a great company. I shouldn't have switched in the beginning.

I had to use American Home Shield a couple of times, and it worked out excellently. It was for a leak downstairs in my rec room in the basement. The tech took care of it and he helped me out with my sump pumps. He checked them out, and also my toilet. He did a good job and was very professional. Overall, with having AHS, I'm able to have someone come right out and take care of an issue when I have it. I didn't have to wait long. They were very receptive and took care of my problem.

Not too long after I had spoken to American Shield, the lady from the air conditioning place called that same day. I also got a call from the person that was going to come out for the air conditioning unit that made a lot of noise and wasn't doing its job. The gentleman came in and checked everything including the thermostat. He went outside and worked on the compressor. He came back and had replaced a capacitor. He did a very good job. I was very pleased. My neighbor also has American Shield. We're both very happy because she had to have work done on her air conditioning unit also.

My recent claim with AHS was about the AC. The compressor had blown. It was good. The techs were knowledgeable and able to answer all the questions that I had. They took a required photo of the issue. But when I called American Home Shield, they didn’t have the technician's report yet. I contacted the contractor and they said, “We’re gonna submit the reports later on today.”

Applifix worked on our clothes washer. It was trial and error. It took the tech longer than expected because he was thinking it was one thing, he replaced that part, and then that didn't work, and then he had to order another part. Once he figured it out and got the right part in and installed it, we were good to go. He did his best with what he had. I called American Home Shield by phone to file the claim. For me, it's a lot quicker just calling them on the phone instead of trying to go back and forth through email.

Ice wasn’t passing through ithe refrigerator. The contractor came out and then, we had to wait a couple of days. They didn't have the part with them so the tech had to get it. They said they would give me a call back when they would be able to get back out. But then a few days later, I got an email about the new appliance program. They didn't have the part needed to repair my refrigerator and they were going to give me a new one. It took a while but the replacement came sooner than they said it would. I like the fact that it's not a big problem when I put in a claim. AHS goes ahead and addresses it right away.

I have a leak in the hot water heater. I called on the 24th, and it's still not replaced. Water is all over the place. My carpet's ruined. I'm waiting for a plumber to install it. Allegedly, the hot water heater has not been delivered yet. Also, I asked for an itemized receipt for out-of-pocket costs, but they have not provided that. It was $1,080 extra. American Home Shield is too expensive. I'm paying $100 a month for this service.

The old motor in my pool died. I called American Home Shield and the contractor showed up in a reasonable time. They looked at it and the whole thing didn't take more than six hours. It was done. We have a one unit oven and microwave, and the microwave had gone out. This was the third time and Omega Force was the only company that was available that could have two technicians come out to pull the unit from the wall. They called us to go over what needed to be done and did the video call. They asked us if we tried turning the unit off and on from the circuit breaker. When we did that, the microwave came back on. They told us to put a cup of water in the microwave to make sure it was getting hot. It was and we haven't had any problems with the microwave since. Omega called us three different times afterwards just to double-check and make sure the unit was still working before they closed out their order. I really appreciate that. American Home Shield is worth it.

With American Home Shield, I don't like that I never know who I'm going to get, but I get that. The scheduling process, sometimes it takes a while to get someone, but for the most part, when I get someone, they do a good job. That's what I like about AHS. My air conditioner was leaking water, and it was a mess. It was coming down out of the upper part of the unit then running into my drain that I have right there by it. A guy came out, unhooked a little tube and unclogged it, hooked it back up, and it was fixed. He was great.

The techs went out to check the air conditioner before the season started and to do a minor repair to a stove. Both of the techs were great and very professional. They knew more about the issues than I did and that's important. I was happy with the service and so far, having AHS gives me more peace of mind because these items in my home are expensive. For me to replace them, it'd be very difficult. So to shell out $100, when something happens, is a lot easier than shelling out $5,000.

American Home Shield's service is very good, and it saves people money. Recently, my furnace went out. I didn't have heat, and the vendor that they sent out is one that I was very happy with. They fixed my furnace right then. I've been using them for years, and anyone else, I don't let them touch my furnace.

So far, I haven't had any problems with American Home Shield. I had a claim for the AC unit. The technician went up and down the steps to check if there was a noise. He went up in the attic to check it. He got everything working and told me if I have any problems, I have until November to let them know if they have to come back and fix it again.

I am extremely frustrated with AHS regarding the handling of my request for plumbing service to my home. Another claim and another time it is taking a month or more to get this claim remedied. I called their vendor PCast plumbing on August 16th privately, because water was coming from my clean out each time I used my kitchen faucet. They felt there was a clog or stoppage in my sewer line located within the foundation of my home. I then had an outside plumber come in, for a second opinion, and he determined that the problem was leak within the wall. I placed a call to AHS asking to send a vendor out and PCast was sent again under my contract. They insisted the problem was a clogged sewer line, even though the problem only presented itself when using the kitchen faucet. No other faucet in my home caused the issue.
AHS denied my claim saying the problem existed outside the foundation of my home and as such was not covered. I appealed this because the line PCast said was clogged, did exist within the foundation of my home. The decision was reversed. I asked for a second opinion, and APlumbing was assigned. Anywhere Plumbing called me to ask what was going on and when I explained to them, they determined without coming to my home that this was a stoppage. The request sent by AHS said "leak" and not "stoppage", therefore they would not come out to address my problem.
At no point was I told this was stoppage and not leak. As a layperson, I can only go by what I see. At no point during this time did AHS tell me I had to change my request from "leak" to "stoppage". AHS sought to remedy this by creating a new work order for the same issue. They asked me to pay another vendor fee of 100.00 for the same issue, and told me it would be reimbursed, as this would be used as my second opinion. This was approved.
The request was made as "stoppage" to MPlumber. They came out and said they felt it was a broken pipe for kitchen sink drain line. Again I called AHS to get a resolution on September 15th and was told they had not received a report yet from MPlumber. I had Trinity call them while I was on the line, and she came back and said it would be sent within 24-48hours. That was a week ago.
I still had not heard back, so I called yesterday, but no one could help because I was told the system was down. I called again today and spoke with Destiny who said the report was still not in and that she would escalate to get to the bottom of things. She called MPlumber again while I was on the line. She came back and told me MPlumber said they did not send a report because they came to the conclusion that my issue wasn't covered. I was livid because this is not the vendor's decision to make.
When I got off the phone with her, I called MPlumber directly to find out why they were making a decision that was not theirs to make, and Brittany informed me that she never said that to Destiny. Brittany told me a report was sent to AHS on September 16th, but she would email it again since AHS was claiming it was never received.
Within 2 hours of that call I received a decision from AHS, saying my plumbing issue was only partially covered. Reason for failure was roots. I am flabbergasted because the report left with me by MPlumber says, "broken pipe in ground for kitchen drain line." It also says the cable used came back with mud and roots. This was a blatant lie. My husband and I stood by the entire time the plumber worked and roots were never pulled out. I can only surmise that this was a money grab because the receipt left with us is completely different than the report allegedly submitted. With this new report, I am expected to cough up over 5,000.00 to the plumber. When I called, I spoke to a very rude representative who told me my only remedy was to get a second opinion. Are they serious??? I asked to speak with someone in a supervisory capacity and was placed on hold for 30 minutes. She never came back to the line, and I was hung up on afterwards.
I want this decision reversed, and some explanation why I am getting conflicting reports from AHS and their vendor. It seems like AHS uses a tactic of trying to wear a client down, instead of paying for repair costs. Had I accepted the denial, that would've ended the claim altogether. They were wrong, and I believe they still are. I have asked them repeatedly not to send MPlumber to my home because of past issues I have had with this company.
It is abominable that I pay for a service and every time I need help, it's like pulling teeth with no anesthesia. It is downright disgusting that I can't speak to anyone who seems to know what they are doing, and I have to hear roosters crowing in the background. I am really considering canceling my plan with AHS because enough is enough, and I am fed up with how difficult they make it to settle a claim every time. I am being made to jump through hoops just to get them to honor my contract. I expect to hear something from someone or I may have to pursue legal avenues. If I don't pay my premium, my service is terminated, but if I need service AHS can drag it on and on.
If AHS is supposedly the best, I may as well put money into an escrow account for repairs because they have shown me that they are reluctant to pay each and every time I make a request. I would steer clear. They talk a good game and their commercials make it seem easy, but it has certainly not been my experience whatsoever. I should have heeded the reviews I read.

I had a leak from a toilet upstairs that was going down to the lower floor. It was as soon as I got the notice, they called to schedule a time. The contractor got out there within a day or two. They were professional. The initial plumbing that they did didn't work. We thought it was one or two problems. So, they tried the first thing. I called them back within two days, and they came out again the next day. They’re responsive. Sometimes, American Home Shield's policy for replacing items gets blurry. At this point in time, it's after the third time we're fixing something, then it's replaced. I know that's in the contracts. But I'm not clear on that. Making that a bit clear will be good.

American Home Shield used the plumbing company SDL Plumbing. They came to my house three times. One time was to assess the problem. They said I needed a new faucet. The guy did a faucet replacement. He didn't hook the holes or the valve right and it caused a leak under my sink. My wood is rotted out. I called SDL and let them know. They told me it was my fault that I didn't check their work. I told them that they caused the damage to which they said, "You should have called us before now." But how would I know the water was leaking until I knew it was leaking? I didn't know that until I looked under my sink.
They told me to contact American Home Shield to see what they would do. In my contract, they're saying that American Home Shield is responsible for any kind of issues after the company comes out. I don't think that was on American Home Shield. It's SDL Plumbing that I got a problem with. They were pissing me off. I would like the SDL to fix the damage that they caused. I got it priced and it's gonna be costing $300. I just didn't feel like I will be responsible for that. It wasn't there before SDL came out and did the work.

The toilet wouldn't flush. A plumbing company came out two days from when I made the initial online request, which was fine. I didn't need it to be immediate because I have other bathrooms in the home. My mom handled the work call for me because I was at work. She thought they were professional and did a good job. Our refrigerator stopped working late on a Friday night. I put the information online and they processed that immediately. The only issue was just how long it took to get somebody out here. But once the tech realized what was happened, he put in a claim and it was approved immediately. Our appliance was repaired that same service call.
We also had an outlet in our kitchen that was not working. The repair for that was perfect. AHS gives peace of mind that if something happens, we can call them and they'll send out the right people. We'll be able to get our issue resolved without starting from scratch or spending a small fortune. It's definitely worth it.

I've had very good experiences with AHS and everything they've done. I had a claim for a garbage disposal that wasn't wired correctly to begin with but they fixed it. I can make a phone call to American Home Shield and if the service is covered under what they do, it’s only $85. I like that and I'm enjoying my experience because as a first-time homebuyer, it’s convenient, especially the things that we've been calling about. The sensor was off on the garage door and I didn't want to touch it myself and further damage it, so I made the phone call. It was better to spend the $85 than have me do something and it’d be messed up. It was probably 10 minutes worth of work, which was totally fine. It was great. So, we were happy about that.
I appreciate what AHS is doing, because for somebody who is in their first home, and is a part of something to where they can give encouragement to people to buy homes, what they are doing makes that possible. And it makes it more comfortable for somebody to purchase a home, because it's a big commitment. What AHS does is not that expensive. I'm glad that it's in place so people can use this resource.

Stuff was backing up into our shower and our toilet wasn't flushing all the time. The guy who came out was from South Carolina and didn't know the different laws in different counties in North Carolina. In our county, we're responsible for the drain while the state town is only responsible for the drainage under the road, not what comes from the house to the road. And where that plumber was from, the homeowners are not responsible from their out. He said that he couldn't legally push the drain out into the main like that or he could get in trouble if he was caught. And when he came out and checked our drain, he said that it was clogged, but that was not their responsibility. So, he didn't fix the problem. My husband went out and was able to unclog it himself. I told AHS that they sent somebody from South Carolina and we live in North Carolina with different rules. Next time I call, they should make sure they send somebody local, from North Carolina.

I've appreciated the services with American Home Shield. I've been liking the service since I had issues resolved timely and quickly. We had an issue with our washing machine and we were able to get a new washing machine. I filed a claim. They sent someone out. They determined it could not be fixed because of a parts issue. Then I was given multiple options on how I wanted to get a new washing machine. Through the online process, I was able to pick the model that I wanted all within the claim amount. There were other options, too. I could pay a little more for a different model, but I just chose the one that was covered by the claim amount. I've been happy with the replacement ever since.
I had American Home Shield previously where I lived before. And when we moved to Tennessee, I forgot to re-sign up. I went with another home warranty provider, and it was a disaster. I said, “I gotta get back to some people that I know and trust.” So, I went back to American Home Shield. I've been extremely satisfied.

American Home Shield covers a lot of things in the house, like certain parts of the dishwasher, and little details that they think about that other home warranty companies don't cover. Recently, the contractor fixed the stopper to one of the sinks. And there was an issue with the garbage disposal. There's a plastic thing that got in there, made it rattle around. It made a noise. But that was easily fixed as well. We’ve used J&L Plumbing before through AHS. We’re familiar with their quality of work. The guy was very thorough, knowledgeable, and friendly. It went well.

My AC wasn't blowing air. It happened on a Saturday, and then it was Labor Day weekend, which really sucked. But Tuesday, as soon as we woke up, they had already called to schedule an appointment. The contractor came out that day and the tech was fine. AHS's service is great.

I've been with AHS for three years now and I don't like their service. They speak English, but you cannot understand them. I don't know what country they're using. The first year we had it, our HVAC went down the week before Christmas. I live in Washington and it was freezing. It took them seven days to get a repairman out. There weren't any repair people available in my area.
Recently, the overflow of my hot water tank was leaking. I called them. I paid my $100. But they started giving me the runaround. They finally got me hooked up with an appointment and it took them two days to make the appointment. The company called me to tell me that they were coming out, wanting to know what the problem was. They proceeded to tell me that if I had to replace a water tank that the codes in Washington have changed and it would cost me $1,500.
With my HVAC claim, the tech had to put refrigerant in it and that cost me 100 bucks. My dishwasher was as old as my house and it was going to go. I said, "What's the policy when it goes?" They'd repair it. The problem is there were no parts to repair anything. So they would have to replace it. But you would get no choice in what goes into your home. They would buy it and ship it to you. Then they would tell you who to call to have come in and put in.

I had an issue with the ceiling fan in the bedroom. The tech didn't have to do anything but it still cost me $100. All he did was switch it back on. My son did not know that the switch at the top was off. It was the same with my dishwasher when I had someone out. The fix was just a matter of pushing a button. But it was $300 for each one of them.
I have also reached out to AHS because they had charged me for a service that I didn't get. They finally reversed the payment. Also, when our wall oven went out, they said it had to be replaced. But it took 11 months to replace it and it wasn't their fault that the wall oven and microwave weren't available. They sent us what they thought the old unit would be worth. The new one was almost three times as much ‘cause we upgraded.

I’ve never had an issue with American Home Shield. I love them, and I've had them for years. Protection is always there, and they’re always there to help. Sometimes, they’re gonna send people to check out something more than once, but I get it because they have to try to fix it before they can get somebody a new one. One of my stoves was completely done, and they ended up not being able to fix it, so they paid me out to get a new one. The process was not longer than a week. It took longer to get the check. It’s been longer to get a response of what they wanted to do. American Home Shield is great, and I’ll keep them as long as I have a home.

The claims process was smooth and easy enough to use. The technicians were knowledgeable and professional. They took care of the issue. But we had an issue with our computer and American Home Shield doesn't cover the screen damage. It only covers electrical damage. So I'm a little disappointed with that because I still need my computer fixed. So the electronics coverage is a little lackluster. But as far as the home repair stuff went, I like American Home Shield's service.

I was disappointed at the beginning because they couldn't fix something that I needed to fix. But that was a couple of years ago and other than that, I was pleased with the service. Global HVAC Services recently came out for the AC. The techs got out here in less than 24 hours, which is good because it was so hot that day. The gentleman that came and fixed it was very courteous and I was really impressed and pleased with his work and very confident attitude.

I’m satisfied with AHS because since we've been here, they have covered everything except for the hot water tank and the sewage ejector. However, I'd like to know what is covered and what's not ahead of time. That way, we know what additional we have to get through AHS to get covered. When our sewage ejector quit working, Plumbing Enterprises, at first, quoted us $2,600 to replace it. Then they came back with $15,000 to replace it. We had to go with another company on our own. We were told it was not on the policy.
AHS has done the repairs but we've had to replace everything on our own. There have been several issues where we've had to come out of pocket. We had problems with our garbage disposal. We had a company come out and look at it. They said that wasn't covered and charged us $400. We’ve had issues with our washer and dryer, which we just replaced the washer and dryer completely. We've had problems with our stove, our AC, and our hot water tank. We ended up replacing them on our own. The previous hot water tank was installed by the homeowners themselves. When the plumber came out, he said we were going to have to get it replaced. Certain parts of it were not covered by AHS. To get it up to code with the county, we had to come out of pocket for $1,800.

I used to have American Home Shield it at my other house and it was great over there. My air conditioner wouldn't come on. Once before, I had where they came out and the water line going outside was leaking. But since they came out, I put bleach in there now so that wasn’t it. But it wouldn't come on. And four or five hours later, it came on by itself but it wouldn't come on again. I checked all the breakers, and that was when I called AHS. It was easy submitting the claim.
The gut that came out was good. We talked about it. We looked at a few things. I told him what all it was doing. And we came to the agreement that the thermostat was the only thing that would control both inside unit and outside unit, so decided to swap out thermostats. He seemed like he knew what he was doing. The ac works great right now. I've told several others that they ought to get AHS.

American Home Shield is fairly pricey. I have two contracts with them. They should offer discounts. Recently, my tenant called me and said the air conditioner was not working so I called American Home Shield. When I asked my tenant what the problem was, he said the capacitor was faulty.

Right Tech was great. They were quick. The only thing they did is charge me for the refrigerant, but I think that's standard if you need refrigerant for your AC. Our AC is doing great now. American Home Shield could do a little bit more coverage on the refrigerant. I wasn't thinking I was going to be paying too much out of pocket. It was like $500 for the refrigerant.

AHS is great. I've been with them for a couple of years now. They're not too expensive. They're fast at responding to work orders and getting people going and trying to fix things, if they can be fixed. We had a plumbing issue in one of my rental properties. Within minutes, I had a plumber. Within a few days, the plumber came and fixed the problem. So that was really appreciated.

I sent in a claim for my dishwasher and my microwave. The technician was on time. He had to come back because he had to order a part for the microwave. He was really nice, and quick. It was a pleasant visit. Everything went very well. When you have to make a call to American Home Shield, the $100 isn't too bad to get my stuff resolved.

I like that when I use American Home Shield, it's pretty straightforward and quick to get service. Techs came out for my water heater a couple of times and also my air conditioner. They're responsive. When my water heater went out, that was replaced. American Home Shield has been pretty good.

I came home and noticed a leak. Went online and placed a call with AHS. The next morning when I woke up, there was an email saying someone would be reaching out to me and they did. The company didn't have an available space until Monday and it was a Thursday night. I said, "What if I paid overtime?" They said, "Yeah. We can have someone on Saturday." I opted to pay for them to come on Saturday because I didn't want the pipe bursting. They said it would be 8 o'clock and they were there at 8 o'clock. Two guys. Super nice. In and out, did their thing. They were gone in under an hour. They were so nice and everything was taken care of.

Our air conditioner quit cooling. I called AHS and I had to pressure them a little bit to get somebody out there sooner. They finally got ahold of somebody local. It was great. They came out the next day. The guy was really good. He's someone who we had used in the past. The air conditioner person checked everything, got it working and it started back. He had to come out a second day. He checked and it was an electrical light switch that had messed up. So he replaced it, five minutes and gone. However, they didn't seem to be in a real hurry to get anybody out. They were just gonna wait and let the system go, cut a ticket and then find somebody. The first time I had done it, they were taking too long. They had pulled the 75 out of the account and they were just waiting around to get a technician.

I like that AHS sends me emails. One of the things when I first moved in, there was so much paperwork involved and so many different things happening. When I signed up with them, I put the folder away and then lost track of who they were. When I needed service again several months later, I was like, “I can't remember the name.” So the emails that they sent me were helpful. I went back and found them that way. The techs that came out for our recent claim were also amazing.

I went online and described my problem with my AC unit, and American Home Shield made an appointment with an AC service company. They showed up and took a look at my problem and fixed it. The service people were nice, friendly, respectful and did a great job. The problem resurfaced and I contacted AHS again. They set up another service appointment with the same repair people who came out and fixed the issue, and there hasn't been a repeat issue since. AHS schedules good, quality repair people to come out, and that speaks volumes.
I’ve had different things replaced this year or fixed. I had my oven door replaced the last time and it was just 100 bucks for that. Then, I had the AC service and the repeat issue, which was just 100 bucks too. But there’s a monthly fee on top of that. So, at some point, it adds up. But it is convenient. And it’s insurance. It gives me some peace of mind.

Our pump stopped working and it had to be replaced. I called and submitted a claim to American Home Shield. They sent a guy out and he replaced the pump. He was really great and it didn't take him long to do the work.

I put a claim in for the dryer that wasn't putting out any heat on Saturday night. The repairman called Sunday and came out the next day. I told him what was wrong. He already had the parts that he thought he might need which solved the problem. It was the second claim. I'm satisfied at this point.

I had two claim experiences with American Home Shield, and one of them got resolved quickly. For the second one, I was gonna call and follow up because I haven't heard back on my AC repair. A guy came out as scheduled. I gave him the symptoms of what's been going on. He went into the attic right away. He figured he knew what the issue was and sure enough, one of the motors in the attic burned up. So, the thing that was closing, whether it goes upstairs or downstairs, was halfway open. That lack of pressure was causing the compressor to shut down and then not cool. I opened it all the way. So, that way, whether you turn it on upstairs or downstairs, it’s gonna cool the whole house, but at least it'll work. I’m appreciative of that. The guy said, “We're gonna have to order this motor.”
They gave me a callback about four days later. It was over the weekend. They said that the home warranty had declined the coverage and we can order it from them directly. I said, “Well, the home warranty didn't notify me that they declined the coverage.” So, I called the warranty company. They said, “No. We didn't deny the coverage. They didn't give us the information so that we can continue with the claim. So, we're waiting to hear from them.” So, they said they were gonna reach out to them. They called them and asked them for the notes and said to call back in a couple of days.
I called back in a couple of days to the home warranty. I didn't call the vendor anymore. They said, “No. We still haven't gotten the notes. We're gonna call them back in a couple of days.” I called back in a couple of days. They said, “No. We haven't heard anything back from them.” At that point, I had a trip, so I was gone for almost two weeks. So, when I came home, I asked my wife, “Did they ever come by and fix that?” She said, “No.” I said, “All right. On Monday, I gotta call.” It still gotta get repaired.
Medallion came out for our plumbing claim and they did well. They came in, identified the issue really quickly, and saw that the unit had to be replaced because it was dead. The AHS representatives were good. The only issue I had was they had me do a live video chat with my phone. There was a huge lag. So, once we did that, they took their pictures, but I couldn't hear anything they were saying. The rep had to call me back. That was a little buggy.

I reached out to American Home Shield recently for an electrical outlet problem. They’ve had to send someone out repeatedly for the same issue. This latest time, I'm not sure if they're gonna cover it anymore. I have to call them back. It's still not repaired. I also had to use them for my pool equipment, which they wouldn't cover because they said somewhere in the document they don't cover the repairs of critter chewed wires. Other than that, I had them come out for a plumbing issue that they repaired.

The service could be better. Every time I call them and I pay my fee, they can't find contractors for two or three weeks and I'm sitting here stuck. American Home Shield should have their own deals that they can send out and do and everything to help people out. These other places that already have their clients built up and everything can't take on anymore. I sat here for three days without an air conditioner. They called me yesterday and said somebody will be out here on Monday. There should have been somebody here to get it fixed instead of leaving us in the heat. One time, they had this plumbing company come out and the guy didn't know diddly-doo. I told American Home Shield about it and they sent him right back out but I sent him packing. But other than that, the companies they've sent out were very good.
Also, I was told to call an outside contractor for a claim and they told me to send a copy of the invoice and my check and put these numbers on there that they gave us. I did all that and I sent it in. They told me that within 21 days, I'd receive a check back but it's been a month and a half and I have no check. They called me yesterday and told me they finally found the invoice and the check and within 21 days, I ought to have a check.

We had AHS several years back and decided to go back to them. We like their coverage packages. When I've worked with various people on different things in the house, it's always been a positive experience. The most recent service request was for our microwave. The techs looked at the problem. From there, they did a preliminary search with their local suppliers to see if there was a part available. 'Cause if not, it immediately would bounce back over to American Home Shield for them to check their national suppliers and see if they had the part.

On Thursday afternoon before Labor Day, we realized our air conditioning unit wasn't functioning properly. I did a claim online with American Home Shield then I called and told the lady from there that we wanted to be really careful not to get a certain company that we had gotten in the past. We had a real problem a year or so ago with a company that came and did the wrong thing and we went for several weeks without air conditioning. The lady told me that she would make a note that a senior technician should come out to take care of the issue.
American Home Shield sent somebody the next day. They said he was gonna come between 12:00 and 2:00. But the man called that morning and asked if it was all right if he came at 8:15, which it was. He came on in and quickly identified the problem. He had the part with him to fix the air conditioning unit. He fixed it and was gone in 10 or 15 minutes. Before he left, he checked to make sure that we were getting cooling and we were. That was the quickest resolution of a problem and the best service that we've ever had with American Home Shield. We've had American Home Shield at our prior home and when we moved here. It's just like any other insurance. You hope you don't have to use it, but it's nice to have it when you need it. It was very good.

Anytime my claim with AHS has to do with Sears, it's quick and they're very good. Sears has been the only one that responds professionally. I can't say the same about if it's for my air conditioning or my water heater. I had a hot water heater go out. I had water spraying all over the wall because of it and it was ruining the plaster on two walls. I said, "I really need this done right now." They said, "It's Friday." Nobody that they contracted with that could do that work could get out because it was the weekend. Depending on who American Home Shield is contracted with, that will greatly affect the time that it takes people to get out.
I ended up having to call the fire department because I couldn't get my water shut off. Not only was I out of water, because it had to be shut off completely, I was out of hot water. Couldn't do anything, couldn't bathe, wash clothes, run water, wash dishes. They finally approved a guy that was not contracted with them. He had to go through the wringer to get that done. But they finally did and he came out. He put it in under an hour and was fine.
We were right in the middle of a heatwave, 111 degrees when my air conditioner went out and they couldn't get anybody out there for a week and a half. I ended up having to pay for that myself. They wouldn't approve the guy that I had, who was a licensed heating and air guy, who has been the one who has checked up on my unit over the last 13 years.
AHS should contract with people who act as professional as Sears does. AHS is working with some people I would never use outside of going through them because I don't think the people they're contracting with are professional. Because of that, I've been shopping around to not be using American Home Shield any longer.

It's been a great experience with AHS. The motor of our spa wasn't turning on for our recent claim. You had to try 10 and 12 times in a row to get it to turn on. Sometimes it would and sometimes it wouldn't. The techs determined the problem and they had to get a part. They had to return. They were great. They were not the first pool company that AHS sent out on that issue. Watertight Pool was the first one that came out but I do not recommend them.

My refrigerator wasn't getting as cold as it should have been. The contractor came out and found out that it was the compressor. It took them two and a half weeks to get everything done because they had to order some parts for the refrigerator. Got the parts, they came back, and fixed it, and my refrigerator is working wonderfully. The guy that came out and analyzed it was very professional, told me what was going on, explained to me, and was very courteous. The second guy that came out to fix it, same thing. That was my first experience with having to call American Home Shield but it worked exactly how I anticipated it to work.

I’ve had a couple of things that I wasn't extremely happy with, but overall, AHS has been okay. West Coast was great. They came out for the oven. However, I had a fan that wasn't working and AHS sent out an electrician. I had to pay the $75 and he said that he couldn’t figure out what was wrong with it. We called and they said, "We sent out another one to see if they could figure out what was wrong with it." They said that there was power, so it might have been a battery, but then left without doing anything. I ended up paying two $75 co-payments for people that couldn't help me. Long story short, it was a battery that none of those electricians found, and all we had to do was replace the battery.

My washing machine was leaking so I called that in to American Home Shield. The tech that came kept saying, “If you're washing and you keep opening this little door, that's why it's leaking.” But I just wash my stuff in there, shut it, and it washes. I don't keep opening the door. He told me “Why don't you put the soap inside the machine?” But that's not the way those machines are made. He was basically telling me that what I was doing was causing the leak. I kept telling him that it was just my husband and myself and we wash once or twice a week. This was a new problem.
What frustrated me a little bit was he said he did a cycle and the washing machine didn't leak. He said to take a picture. I told him, “I wouldn't pay $125 to have somebody come out here and tell me that I made it up... It's leaking right here.” Somebody else was sent out and I told him exactly where the machine was leaking. It took him a while but he ended up finding it. He didn't have the part so he had to order it. A week later, he put it in. The whole process took about two and a half to three weeks.

I've had other services done by American Home Shield and it has been good with my AC. Recently, I had an issue with my garage door. And me being the customer, I should have looked at my contract. But I wasn't home to even look at my contract. I mentioned that my garage door was broken. And the representative that took the information should have gone outside the box to ask additional questions as far as the garage door, not just taking my word on that. I paid my $100 for my deductible, and when the person came to my house, it wasn't my garage door, because the motor is fine, which that now I know, that is what will be covered for the garage door. It was the spring. So, I paid $100 on top of having to pay $249 out of my pocket.
What I could have done was gone outside of American Home Shield and looked for someone to fix my spring. But I called back because I was upset about that. First I spoke to a lady named Ruby. It was a language barrier, trying to even understand what she was saying. It was getting on my nerves. And I asked to speak to a supervisor. Later on that day, a supervisor named Juliet indicated that she was going to refund me my $100 back because of the miscommunication between me and the representative. Because she said that the representative should have asked additional questions. And in the future, when I call on a claim, to look at my contract, which is understandable. Now I know to do that.
I was waiting on my money to be refunded, but I never received it. I called back several times, and I was told, “It takes 12 business days.” That was crazy. So, I called back the following week, only to find that the representative told me that it was because it was a concession. But there were notes on my file indicating that I am going to be reimbursed my $100. She got on my nerves. I called back the same day that morning and spoke to Leonard, and he specified that because of what has happened, I would receive an email.
I was gonna cancel, and he was in the retention department. And he indicated, because of my troubles, that I would receive an email indicating that I wouldn't have another payment until January. I have yet to receive an email. When I call back, I'm going to make sure that I'm not charged October, November, December, because that was what they were told that they were going to do. I'm waiting to see, with this situation, that they keep their word on what they said, that I don't have any money withdrawn out of my account until the 1st of January. For them to reimburse me back the $100 like they should, that should have been like a drop in the bucket. But the guy in the retention area indicated that they would waive for three months, that to me, is providing excellent customer service. But we will see if they keep their word like they said.

Having a home warranty helps with costly purchases like if you have to deal with appliances or plumbing needs. I've been pleased with American Home Shield so far. I used the warranty when my oven needed another burner. A young man came and put a burner in. He was pleasant, very nice and professional. My oven has been working fine ever since. American Home Shield is a good product to have and I would recommend it. I’ve been getting good service. In the beginning, I had a claim for a leak and that didn’t really go very well and I was very disappointed. But the technicians came back and corrected the concern that I had.

When we've used American Home Shield to call out repair people, they've been fairly responsive and delivered decent quality people. They had a contractor come out to repair a microwave because the only button that worked on the thing was to add a minute. The contractor told us that there was no way to repair it and they didn't make parts nor the microwave anymore. They measured the hole and the microwave and provided that back to American Home Shield.
American Home Shield then went through their purchasing department and they had lost all of those measurements. They wanted me to measure the microwave and the opening. But I'm not proficient at measuring appliances and I know that's a specialized skill. I advised them of that and they said the homeowner is responsible for it. That wasn't the agreement we had when I’d spoken to them in their customer service.
It resulted to them sending us a microwave that was less than a cubic foot saying that was a replacement for one that was over 2 cubic feet. They sent us a surround that’s supposed to go around the microwave and make it look like a built-in microwave that had no way of matching up. As I've come to find out, when you choose the right-sized microwave, you'd be provided the surround pieces that match up to it. American Home Shield didn't have a grasp of that from start to finish and now, they wanna charge me a restocking fee for their mistake and their error. It's infuriating. But the repair people they've sent out have been very competent and very good.

A-US Air came out and looked at our furnace unit. When they went back, their guy called me and said it was a coil issue. I called American Home Shield to see why that happened or what it is. The guy put in the report that it was a wear-and-tear code and he tried to upsell me some products. He said, "We need to change the coil. But I'll tell you what, it's much cheaper and better for you if you just change your condenser fan and your coil and if you want to do your furnace too." That was strange.
Initially, I was gonna go with another third party to do a second opinion but I reached out to another company, told them what was going on, and asked if I just change all three of my units. They didn't think it was a good idea. They said, "What the person is trying to do is say that that item is no longer this and they had to modify it, which is true. So, they're gonna put it as wear and tear. But in reality, it's not wear and tear. It's just your unit broke because it was being worked."
The A-US Air guy called me back after I was done talking with the other company. He said they were gonna give me a 14 SEER unit. My current SEER unit is 11 or 12 and it's not working. It's not pushing out cold air. That person didn't even put in an emergency stopgap. he just said, "I know it's leaking a little bit, but let's put on some Freon and lets at least get your cold air going." He was trying to mislead me with misleading information. After that, I didn't want to deal with A-US Air.
In the end, I paid out of pocket and just changed all three of my AC units and that cost me 24k. I had First American and they were not the best. Someone referred American Home Shield and I'll be hitting two years with them. But now, maybe I don't want them anymore. The contractors they're sending me have been pretty subpar.

Everything's been fine with American Home Shield. When I was talking to a rep, I mentioned that we wanted to get the house rekeyed and that we had a clogged toilet. They were able to get those work orders set up and out to the right people. It was really quick and easy. The rekey went well. A guy came for the clogged toilet and got it fixed lickety-split. We're happy with that.

I've called AHS about my hot water heater. But they wouldn't replace something, even if it's recommended to be replaced until it fails. They said, “No, we won't do it. You have to wait till it breaks.” But recently I had a number of small things that needed to be done and the tech from #1 R & R Electrical Allstar took care of them fairly quickly. He's been here before. This was his second time. He's really good.

American Home Shield takes care of maintenance work within two days of me filing a request. The dishwasher was not working because of an electrical issue. Also, the AC stopped working. And there was some plumbing. So, I put in a maintenance request. AHS will have the vendor reach out. And they would schedule an appointment. So, it has been efficient and quick. The techs have been very friendly. They would leave a work request form, which is helpful. They would leave their contact. They've been good to work with. The only hiccup I've had is, one time, my work request went to the vendor’s sandbox. So, they didn't see it. I had to be the one to follow up with the vendor after two days not hearing from them to get a scheduled appointment. Everything else has been good.

One of my rooms was not cooling like the other rooms. In a couple of days, a repair guy came out. He couldn't resolve the AC issue and there was nothing he could do. American Home Shield didn't cover what needed to be done. But I actually called before to see if it was covered and they said it was or they could do something about it. But in the end, nothing was done. Since I've had American Home Shield, I've only had to use them twice. They're usually quick. The first time I used them, they solved the problem.

Initially, the AC unit would not turn on. When it did, it would go off immediately. Whoever did maintenance on the unit for the last couple of years just continued to do Frankenstein repairs. The contractor that American Home Shield sent had to start from the beginning to find out what needed to be done. They were awesome. They were right on it. They came back and did little things here and there three times until they got it right. That would have been done over $1,000 easily but it was only a $75 deductible so it was good. They also walked me through how to take care of small things around the AC unit to prevent stuff like this.

The plumber let us know that American Home Shield could cover my new toilet and right then and there, we set up another appointment for him to come and install the new toilet. It got done super quick. He was a super cool guy. He was really, really nice. American Home Shield always offers awesome service.

The ice maker wasn’t working and the contractor put the wrong part. American Home Shield replaced the whole thing. The AC still makes a funny noise when it shuts down. The tech said it’s okay and so far, it’s working.

My wife recently got American Home Shield on our home and she was telling me about it. My grandmother left a house and my wife said that it was old like our house and that I may want to look into getting a home warranty put in there. I wound up getting the basic plan with American Home Shield. When we went there to do a cleanup, we noticed the ceiling was leaking. When we flushed the toilet, it came through the ceiling and caused some real damage towards the floors. A tech came out and he showed me where the crack was at in the stack pipe.
The tech's professionalism was pretty good. He seemed on point with the leak being where he was. He didn’t know how far the actual pipe went down because it was a cast iron pipe. It scared my mom because he told her that they may have to knock the chimney down. She didn’t want that. She wanted to go with another plumber to get another opinion. I gotta pay 125 every time a tech comes out and I don't wanna pay the 125.
The tech said that he would get with his supervisor and American Home Shield would reach back out to us. I was told that the issue seemed to have happened before I even submitted the plan. They sent a quote for 2,300 and that was not covered cost. I wanted to get it done but I could not afford it right then. I would have to put that on hold until I'm able to get my money to start working on that.

My dishwasher wasn't working at all. American Home Shield connected me with Leader Entities. The tech was professional, and he did a good job quickly, and everything works. My experience with AHS was pretty seamless and seemed to work out pretty well.

The washer wouldn't spin and techs came and fixed it. And then the washer made a loud noise. Techs came and fixed that too. Two of the turning knobs were broken and I wanted those to be replaced but the techs didn't bring them. I called American Home Shield and the said they're gonna call the maintenance. But I didn't receive any callback. I'm tired of that. I call this and that and back and forth. I'm thinking that maybe they need do this as a new thing. I will add that one to the electric things that need to be fixed.

The service of AHS has been fine. For my recent claim, the techs came out then diagnosed the problem and ordered the parts. When the parts came in, it happened to be the same technicians who came back to repair the product.

AHS has been very responsive in taking care of everything that needed to be taken care of. Recently, my dishwasher was leaking and my refrigerator was not closing properly. The techs had to get parts for both the refrigerator and the dishwasher and they had to come back. Everything is now working great.

There's a huge difference between other home warranties and American Home Shield. Some warranties are just shielded behind different small print in their contracts. Every time you call them, they say, "Show me the maintenance for the last six months on the heating unit," or they just bring random stuff that if you missed a simple thing, they deny the service. With American Home Shield, when you tell them what's broken, their contractor comes in and tries to fix it. You're an owner and you're not going to have every single maintenance service across the board on every single month. What you expect from a home warranty is to cover that part, and American Home Shield does it precisely. Recently, Brick Street Plumbing came out for one of the pipes that was broken in close to the garage area. The service was excellent. Everything was performed within the day. They took a look, fixed the problem and left within an hour and a half. I was very happy with the service.

The igniter on my oven broke and American Home Shield sent a guy out but he didn't have the parts. So, he came back after he ordered it in. With having AHS, I don't have to do the repair myself.

We had an issue with the icemaker and then, we noticed that the freezer was not freezing. I called AHS and they got National Platinum Service out here. But I didn't get a phone call to set up an appointment until I finally called them. AHS told me the contractor should be calling me to set up an appointment but the contractor said they don't do that. That was a miscommunication. But they were fantastic.
They had to replace the heater so they ordered it, came back, and put it in. About a week later, we noticed the icemaker wasn't making ice so I called them back. The guy was here a minute and he said he couldn't figure it out. He went to the back of the fridge and pulled a little junction box out of the bottom fridge and said something was shorting out. It wouldn’t allow the icemaker to make ice. Then, he said I got a short in the refrigerator and there was no way to fix it. He put it in with AHS and AHS wanted to get a second opinion. The other people they sent out said that the fridge has gone bye-bye and now, we just have to replace the fridge.

I have cancelled my contract with American Home Shield. They put me through so much grief over trying to get my air conditioning fixed that it was unnecessary what they did to me that I was not happy about it. They ended up doing the right thing. They tried to tell me that my contractor recommended that I get a new furnace, which was a lie because I talked to the contractor several times. And they assured me that they do not make those types of suggestions. They come in, check out the appliance that's broken and they report back to AHS how much the parts cost and that's it.
I got a call from AHS telling me that my contractor recommended that I get a new furnace. And with buying a new one, it would cost me $2,400 out of my pocket to do the upgrades to go with this new furnace. When the contractor gave me paperwork, listing the parts that needed to be paid for and replaced, which came to $825 which I paid out of my pocket because I could not be in here with no air conditioning. It was July.
After all was said and done, and I went ahead and paid the bill, I spoke to someone from there who informed me that I had another option. If I disagreed with who and what repairs they were willing to pay for, I could have taken a payout for how much they were willing to pay to get my air conditioner fixed. And they would have had to just give me that amount of money. But if that was one of my options, it should have been one of my options upfront instead of putting me through hell with arguing with people and them telling lies on the contractor over and over again, and telling me that I had no choice except to get a new furnace and pay $2,400 out of my pocket. It was ridiculous.
The air conditioner worked for a month and a half. I ended up having to call AHS again, because something else went wrong. And it appeared like it might have been the same problem. But when I called, they told me that I had to pay another service fee because it was past 30 days. I eventually did do that. When I tried to call and put in a service order, they told me that my air conditioner is not eligible for service, which was not true. So, I had to wait until they went through whatever they had to go through to decide to send somebody out here. And after all was said and done, they sent somebody out. It was something different that had to be fixed. They fixed it, and it works perfect now. But it's obvious that they're trying to save money. So, they're not willing to hold up their end of the contract and just do what it says, either fix it or replace it. So, it was not a pleasant experience.
I just got to the point where I decided I didn't want to have to do that every time something went wrong. It wasn't appropriate. There were a couple of people that I talked to through my process. They were nice people. But in the final analysis, if I had to keep arguing and fighting to get my things repaired, that's not what I wanted to do every time.

The service person showed up and listened to what I had to say. He inspected the microwave and said that it could be repaired, but they might not have the parts. So he said he would go and make his report. Subsequent to that, AHS approved a replacement, which is supposed to be put in tomorrow. The process took a couple of weeks which was a little longer than I thought but I’ll give them the benefit of the doubt at this point. We also had them do a complimentary check of the AC and that went well. I wondered if the techs would try to sell me something or upgrade me, but they didn't. They just came and did the inspection.

The tub was not draining and the first plumber AHS sent out said he couldn't go past 4 feet. AHS sent out this other company, Emergency Plumbing, and they said they blew air but the drain is still not fixed. I also had a claim for the dryer. The contractor came and fixed the fuse. They said the reason the fuse blew was the pipe or vent needed to be cleared. I got somebody to clean the vent and I tried to dry clothes but they weren’t drying still. I called AHS and they said they’re gonna send the contractor out again. The guy came again and he didn’t do anything. He just told me to come over and feel the dryer getting warm. When he left, I tried to dry clothes and it was not getting hot enough to dry the clothes.
Now, AHS is supposedly gonna contact the contractor again and they’re supposed to contact me. It’s been three days and I’m still waiting for the dryer people. AHS is doing their job but the people who are supposed to be doing the repairs are not doing it. Also, they haven’t contacted me when they said they would and I have to keep reaching out to them.

The contractor went out a couple of days after the call. He was a good technician. He was spot on. However, I'm skeptical about American Home Shield. The initial thing with the hot water heater was two to three weeks past. You pay all this money, and when they come out, you gotta pay an initial $100 and wait forever. It happens often. I recently had a washer that went out and it took me a month and a half to get it replaced. They ordered parts, which came the same day that they decided to buy a new washer and installed it. So, the part came a day after.

The dishwasher quit working and the contractor, Crockett Appliance, did a great job. The first time the tech came out, there was glass stuck somewhere and he cleaned it. The next time he came, the dishwasher wouldn't work at all. There was a part he needed to replace and he didn’t have that available so he ordered it. He came back the following week and replaced it. And everything is working fine.
I've had American Home Shield for three years. It was awful during the pandemic trying to get stuff done. I had complaints when it was the pandemic and people weren't working and you couldn't get through. It was horrible. But so far, AHS has been fine. I like them a lot. I recommend them to everybody, especially older people up here. You should have that because can't fix it if something breaks in your house, which was why I got it. We're older and retired. If my air conditioner or something breaks, I don't have the money to get a new one.

I had an issue with my refrigerator last year. The people took time. They were not calling me back like they were supposed to, to give me an update. I had to call all the time. And any time I would talk to somebody, it seemed like the next call, I would have to start all over again and tell my story. There was no continuity of care. But it finally got resolved.
One time, a guy came to my house and fixed my microwave. When he fixed my microwave, he told my son because I wasn't home, “I fixed it, but there’s something I'm gonna buy and fix it there.” I waited and I called, “You came to my house. You told my son there was something you were supposed to bring back.” But he said, “I fixed it already.” I said, “Why did you tell him that?” But so far, I haven't had a problem with my microwave. But I'm not happy right now with my recent claim with AHS because Gulf Repair came and did my oven and the tech said he was supposed to order me a knob ‘cause one of the knobs broke. He was supposed to let me know. It's been two months and I haven't seen the knob.

Sometimes, the selection of American Home Shield's contractors isn't good. They use second class contractors. Sometimes, it takes a while for those people to get back to you. But right now, the reps' time for picking up the phone is much better than it was a year ago. Before, you had to hold a long time, even an hour, before someone picks up. Now, they say 10 minutes and usually, it's much less than that. The negative part of that is most of those people are from another country, so sometimes, you have communication issues.
Every renewal, American Home Shield is changing their contract. They're eliminating some form of coverage. They don’t cover faucets now. Sometimes, icemakers are part of the refrigeration. If the icemaker goes out and you have American home Shield, you expect it to be paid. But that's not covered anymore. It hasn't been for a couple of years. Sometimes, you don't find out it's not covered until you have an issue. Other than those, American Home Shield is okay. I’ve been with them a long time and I’ll stay with them.

A technician came to do the pre-season check for my furnace then he came back to fix my AC that was not working properly. He did what he was supposed to do. Overall, he did a good job. American Home Shield is okay and so far, I'm satisfied.

I like American Home Shield. A lot of it was pricing, but reviews and what the package included. But I'm not confident I would get something comparable to what I have. But that's always the case with any warranty program. I have had good techs come out. On one situation with my AC, a tech didn't do something right. And even though it was well outside of that 60 days, the second tech said, “Hey, no, that other guy did it.” And the other guy wasn't contracted with AHS. So, they okayed this guy who knew what he was doing to fix it. It all ended up okay. I was a little concerned, but we worked through it. The technician quality, overall, is very good. He was right out by 2:00 the next afternoon, and I called at 10:30 at night. I didn't speak with a live person. But I was impressed.

My shower faucet kept leaking after the water was turned off. Technicians came the next day and they were respectable. They were great compared to the last company I had. They solved the problem with no issues and everything was perfect. They finished the work in about 30 minutes. So far, American Home Shield seems a lot more professional and prompt. I had a different warranty company before and they were just trash in all the ways possible. They would schedule me then set it back because they didn't have technicians. American Home Shield, on the other hand, seems fine and their coverage is a lot better. I like their plans and it's only $8 more than what I had.

Once I submitted the claim for the microwave door that wouldn’t open and close and paid the fee, it told me that my claim had been submitted to GE, and that somebody would be calling me to get more information. Then I got a message saying that I had an appointment set up, that that person would be in the area. It gave me a window to pick, so I picked a date that worked for me. A repairman called and told me when he was coming out. He couldn't fix the door. It had to be replaced. They had to order a door to fit it.
I just recommended American Home Shield to a friend of mine for their home. I was telling them about my microwave door and how the guy came out and replaced it. So far, it's been a positive experience. I've had to use the service twice, and both times, I haven't had any issues. There was no runaround. They sent out a contractor and did what they said they were gonna do.

There was a freeze up and the drain pipe for the heat pump was kind of clogged. The tech from Air & Water Solutions cleaned that out and he cleaned the coils.

American Home Shield is a good group. I'm just quizzical as to what does it cover and does it charge the same for everything or is it different prices. I thought I knew what they covered, and I thought it was a $75 deductible. I didn't know $81 for plumbing. I noticed $75 for AC, because Heritage AC came out and did a job for me. The lady that I talked to when I placed the request said something about certain things that are not covered. It depends on how you use it, then they wouldn't be covered.
The first time, All Out Plumbing came out to do my toilet. And they did a good job as opposed to the previous ones that had come out here. They were not professional enough. So, I asked for a different one, All Out Plumbing came out, did my toilet, did a great job quickly. I was pleased. I had a problem with my sink faucets. They were leaking. Another crew came out. First one was Michael and this other kid came out this time. Did a good job, quickly, better than it was before. He ordered a part for my faucet. And that's pending, but I was pleased with the boy that came out.
There was a bit of misunderstanding. I had requested AHS. I gave them all my information. All Out called and checked, but they mentioned AHS and they were All Out, a clerk, and we got into a discussion that was not nice. She was too rude. I thought AHS called me again. But they did a great job. I'm very happy with all that. They were quick and thorough. They took responsibility for the problem and made sure they diagnosed it correctly. And I was very pleased with them.
A year or two ago, I requested some service, and I was not pleased with the professionalism of the plumbing group that came out. They're into my toilet and they're professional. They would tell me, "Your chain is about to break. I would recommend that you get it replaced. We don't cover it, but I recommend you replace it." That's what a professional would do. The first one that came out didn't tell me anything, just put it back on. Several months later, the chain finally broke because it was already rusty. And I wish that the guy had told me back then. I could have them fixed then or gotten another plumber. Other than that, I've been very pleased. I've recommended AHS to many people. It's always good to have a plan where they come and fix things and deductibles apply. Because people who do this kind of work are expensive nowadays. So you never know. Just a bit of protection you got.

It took a couple of days to get the plumber out to fix the kitchen sink. A couple of days and not being able to wash dishes weren't very convenient. Other than that, it went smooth. The guy who came out was very polite and got it fixed in a timely manner once he was there. Having AHS, when the heater goes out or if there are issues with something, you can just pay that $75. My co-worker's daughter just bought a house and I suggested AHS. Luckily, she got it. Not even a week later, they had a mainline break which AHS covered.

The toilet continued to run water. It was not sealing so I had to cut it off by hand. Every time you had to flush it, you had to turn it on. A plumber came and took care of his business. My sister and her husband have American Home Shield due to me. I also recommended American Home Shield to my nephew, and he got them.

The contractor replaced a fan in my heat pump. It was very quick. They looked at it and did some routine maintenance on it, which wasn't covered by my policy. They thought it was fixed, but in the process of inspecting everything, the motor went out. When they put it back together, that was when the fan stopped working outright. It was working when the tech left. He said it might go anytime, but because it was still functioning, he couldn't replace it yet. A few hours later, it outright died. I let him know. He told me to call American Home Shield and let them know. All they did was extend that call so I didn't have to pay another $75 deductible for the contractor to come and visit. He ordered the part and he had it fixed the next day. The ac now works like a champ.

AHS gets things fixed right away. We usually call over the phone to submit claims and it's easier to contact them that way. Schubert's Appliance came out recently for an appliance claim and they were real quick.

I've never had any problem with the contractors AHS sends out. Recently, my AC didn't work. I called on a Monday and the techs came. They got the parts and they repaired it on that Wednesday. $100 deposit is nothing compared to what it would have cost us for this problem.

My air conditioner was blowing hot air. I did a claim and the first guy that came was really mean and rude to me. After that American Plumbing and Heating came out and their tech, Marcus, was really nice. But he couldn't fix the unit. On the whole, the Home Shield warranty is awesome. Out of about everybody I've come in contact with, there were only one or two people that were rude.

We had a leak around that air conditioning unit in the closet and that caused damage inside the house. But we have that handled separately. The tech came out and he figured out it the condenser release somehow was blocked. He cleaned it out and put an automatic shut-off valve so it wouldn't happen again if it overflowed. The next day, it shut off. So, he came back out and said it was just a faulty switch and put a new one in, and it has worked fine ever since. Happy Bear has been great.
There have been other companies with American Home Shield that I haven't had the best. Most of them were good. It was just Iceman Cooling and Heating that I had an issue with. The tech was there working, but he entered my house without knocking when I had gone in to get him a drink. I have big dogs and, luckily, they happened to be outside when he sat down at my cupboard and hanging out. It was odd. But I talked to the owner of Iceman Cooling & Heating and we straightened it out. I let him know about this one technician.
The only thing that's hard is when you want to talk to somebody, you feel that it's tougher to discuss something versus, "You just got to pay your $75, and then we'll talk to you." I would just like to be able to discuss things with people first. A little more customer service end. "This is the problem that we're having. Yes, I've read my contract." But can I talk to somebody and say, "What is the best thing to select?" Especially when it's not clear. Sometimes, it's cut and dry and you know exactly what to click. But when you have questions, I wish I had a higher level of customer service for that.

I love American Home Shield. I've had it in both of my houses that we bought and I never had any problems. They always do very quick service and their customer service is great. They are awesome. I told my sister about them when she bought her new house up in the mountains and she got American Home Shield. The tech from Dockside Plumbing was very professional and friendly. He got the work done, took all the old parts and got it cleaned up. He was excellent. I like him a lot.

So far, I like AHS. They always get back in a timely fashion when you call in for work orders. Recently, the ice in my freezer was stuck. But then we had the guy work on the washing machine to stop a leak and he fixed that. He kept me informed when the product is going to be here and when he's gonna come back. He was very professional.

There was a problem with the seals around the toilet and the repair people were out there a couple of days later. They were nice but they left the bolt that holds the toilet down sticking up a little bit. I’ve never seen it like that. But the toilet works wonderful. It's fine and I’m happy. American Home Shield is 100% good. The only problem I had was with my refrigerator. My refrigerator is garbage. It’s over 12 years old and the guy came out and said that it was some kind of switch. Also, it leaks to the bottom and he said that kind of refrigerators just leak. I don’t have any of the vegetable coolers and I just have two racks in that fridge. He wanted to replace a switch and it was gonna cost $300 and I said no because I knew it was gonna clonk out. And it did. The temperature goes up and down. It was just the fridge at first, but everything in my freezer, too, went.
American Home Shield wouldn’t replace it, because the guy said it needed a valve. He’s the expert but I wouldn’t see putting $300 into that piece of junk. So I argued with AHS and the guy said something about if the people say that it’s not worth fixing, they would give whatever it would cost to fix it, and then I would take that and go get a new fridge. When the people from the refrigerator called AHS, he said that was not the way it goes. They were gonna fix the fridge. I called him back and told him he was not gonna fix this fridge because that will take the $300 away if something else goes wrong. And this fridge was gonna clonk out anyway because it was old. We argued about it and then, I just finally told them I didn’t want it fixed. I will find a way to get my own by myself. And we left it at that. Nobody has called me back since for that.

My service with American Home Shield is fantastic. We haven't used them a lot, but they're great whenever we did use them. Recently, we had a problem with the air conditioning unit, the icemaker on the refrigerator, and a leak in our faucet. The first two claims went great. Techs came out and they fixed them. The air conditioning unit was serviced two times. The techs had missed something. The company that American Home Shield had come out was lovely about coming back and fixing it again. We're in the process of the leak claim right now. It hasn't been completed.
Since I have American Home Shield, I don't have to try and search for a repair person. It’s all in one place and I can just put a claim in and somebody calls me. I assume that American Home Shield is concerned enough about their reputation that they're contracting with good and reputable businesses. So far, the ease and the response time are great. All the businesses that they have used have been lovely.

A-US was sent by American Home Shield and they replaced the part to the AC unit. They fixed it. They did really well, and it was in less than an hour that they fixed it. I'm happy with their service. I originally had gone online to the AHS website, and I submitted a request. I was having problems with it, so I called in and spoke with one of their representatives, and they were able to help me out with that. AHS is a really great benefit to have just in case anything breaks down in your home. I've been referring them to my family.

American Home Shield has been very responsive. My AC needed servicing according to H&B's inspection, and it took about three weeks. They said that the delay was because the part was on backorder. Eventually, they came out and they took care of it in about a little over 30 minutes.

I called American Home Shield in January for two toilets. The plumber serviced one, but it was way overpriced for just replacing the part. For the other one, he was attempting to replace the part and provided reasons why the toilet needed to be removed and a new one put in. What he said and what I thought were two different things. What he said was that I shouldn't use bleach tablets in the toilet because it erodes the parts. What I believe is that he didn’t want to do the job. When he was lifting himself off the floor, he tore the toilet rim. He said he would come back and replace it, and to mention his name when I would call. That was what I did eight months later. When I called to request service, there was some pushback because I waited to follow up. They would come and do it, but they would charge me $600. They said that employee was not with them anymore.

It’s hit and miss with American Home Shield. I understand that they’re in business to make money. But sometimes it seems they try to find reasons not to cover items. For example, my dishwasher doesn't clean dishes properly. Some days, it works. Some days, it doesn’t. If the technician is there, it runs properly. When they press the button, they say there's no mechanical defect. I got to put up with it until it truly doesn't run. If I wasn't paying what I pay each month, I would have just replaced the dishwasher on my own. If I have an electrician come, they’ll fix some items but not the others. Again, I chalk it up as a loss. Most of the contractors that have come have been good. However, sometimes, the customer service reps are very difficult to understand. Even explaining things that seem rational and straightforward, the workers don't always seem to understand that. That could be annoying.

I called American Home Shield. They were Johnny-on-the-spot. The tech was very knowledgeable. He told me everything step by step. And he had to do something else. He told me the exact amount of Freon that he had to put in it. And told me that if I had any other problems, to just reach back out to them and they would do an all points inspection. That was the first time that I had to use AHS. Because the Freon was not extremely low, they could not check for a leak. And the tech said, most likely, if it ran all of the time like I told him it did, that is what caused it to get low on Freon. But he was informative, professional, and nice. We laughed. He's the kind of service person that you would feel extremely comfortable with and about as a single person.

I had a clogged drain pipe on my AC and when the techs came out, they took care of it within five minutes. But initially, AHS sent me to a company that doesn't service this area and they sent me to the same company twice. They canceled the service because they don't service our area, so I finally called AHS about it. Since the repair, the AC's performance has been good.

The evaporator on the refrigerator didn’t work and the contractor came to fix it. Everything’s up and running now. The only thing I don’t like is that American Home Shield keeps wanting to access my phone to look at the things that are bad, and I don't normally have time for that. Every single time I've used American Home Shield, their technicians come out here, they look at the issue, and they gotta go back to get the part, regardless of how much information I've given them. Nobody carries anything on their trucks anymore. So going through all that process, which is about 45 minutes of my time, is not something I want to do every time I call. Other than that, everything else has been good.

American Home Shield originally denied a service request to fix our air conditioner and we did not understand why. They wouldn't give us a good reason and wouldn't connect us with anyone who could. So, we filed a complaint. AHS had the AC company come out and they performed a diagnostic and determined that they needed to order a compressor. They called today and told us that the compressor will be in next week. So, they scheduled an appointment to come out on Thursday to fix it.

Foxcroft came out three times for three different issues. The most recent one was for an electrical problem. One of the switches in our second air conditioning, which is up in an attic, blew out. Once they got here, they said that we needed to call an electrician. They did fix it until the electrician came out. As far as American Home Shield, they've been very good. I'm very pleased with them. Sometimes, when I'm trying to call customer service, there are long hold times. Other than that, they've been pretty good at helping me.

American Home Shield's service is fantastic. I've had one problem and it was taken care of right away. My plumbing started leaking from an upstairs bathroom and it went down into the light fixture below and blew it out. That was a mess. The holdup was the people AHS called. They had so many customers that they couldn't fit us in. They got out five days later. The issue got fixed right away. They did a good job and they were very professional. They kept bringing me up and showing me everything. I was very happy. I'm a very satisfied customer of AHS.

Two years ago, I told American Home Shield that my AC is not getting cold and that there was something really wrong. They sent a servicer who did the repair. The techs changed the Freon and a cable and I paid a lot of money. This year, the issue happened again. Because of that experience with American Home Shield, I had a company also check the unit for maintenance and see what was wrong. They also switched the Freon and the tech said if it happens again, the air conditioner needed to be changed because it's really old and there's nothing that can be done.
I called AHS and they sent a servicer. The tech said that the unit is really old and it needed to be switched. He said he would talk to American Home Shield. Lo and behold AHS comes back to me by email and said that the problem is not from natural wear and tear so they won't cover it. AHS just does not want to honor the contract, plain and simple.
Also, they have always sent bad companies. The guy they sent for the AC two years ago was very rude and he started dismantling my dishwasher. I said, "What are you doing?" He said, "Oh, I'm here to service." I'm like, "The problem is not the dishwasher. It's the air conditioning." He said, "I'm sorry" and he put it back. But then, the dishwasher started leaking. He pretended that it was not leaking and goes to my air conditioning and did the test. In half an hour, he was done. They charged me almost $1,000 for a little wire and Freon.
On another service for a leaking water heater, AHS sent a servicer who was quoting me $2,000 for water tubes on the ground that needed to be changed. So, I asked, "What does that have to do with a little drip on the reservoir?" They're taking advantage of consumers. Anybody with the money would have just said, "Okay, fine. I'll shell out $2,000. Come do it." I was so sick of American Home Shield and the servicer that I got a third party from Yelp with good reviews. That tech charged me $150 for everything and changed the reservoir. He told me that the company AHS sent was just trying to take my money. There wasn't anything wrong with the tubes. I didn't even call back American Home Shield 'cause I was just so pissed. They are awful and it was a really bad experience all around.

American Home Shield has been good most of the time. I had one incident that I was displeased about, but I've called them on several other occasions and I've not had any incidents. I recently had an issue with my dishwasher. The contractor had to order a part. That was the first time it took as long as it took. I had to wait two and a half weeks for it to be resolved. I called them twice on an issue that I had with my garage door opener. The contractor did something. A month later, I had what I thought was the same issue. I called them again. I paid the fee for them to come out. They said, "We don't take care of that part." I was unhappy about that because it seemed like if they had told me that when they had come before, I could have at least saved the $125 for them to come back out to tell me they don't do something.
When you call for service, it's 24 hours that someone gets in contact with you. But sometimes they say they can't come. With the dishwasher, they told me they could come between 3:00 and 5:00 the next day. I told them, "I have a doctor's appointment tomorrow between 3:00 and 5:00. Can you come earlier than that?" They said, "No. If you can't take that, we can't come for till Friday." I said, "I'm gonna call American Home Shield. I'll just get someone else to come because if that's the only time you're going to give me, I'm not available and I have to wait for five more days. That doesn't work for me." Then conveniently, they were able to come earlier that same day. That is bothersome to me.

I called American Home Shield for a rekey service and their rep was wonderful. She got me hooked up with the key company and I was able to book an appointment right away. The tech was great and very efficient in what he does. There was no mess and he completed the job in a timely manner. Updated on 10/05/2022: We have been without air conditioning in our top floor for over 3 weeks at this point. They ‘say’ it is approved but our service provider says different. We have been unable to get answers that is needed. Also with their lack of approval our unit has leaked all of its Freon requiring us to spend an additional $700+ because our contract only pays for a $10 per pound. (If you use them check your contract.) Freon is approximately $125 per pound. Is it common for a warranty company to be so slow in approval?
Original Review: Our upstairs air unit became inoperable. After calling their number several times and speaking with representatives who were unable to transfer you to someone who could answer, they only gave platitudes. We were told numerous times our problem was in the authorization department and would be expedited. That was two weeks ago. The last customer representative informed me she was in Columbia South America and could not transfer me. It is 98 degrees and my upstairs in uninhabitable and no one could give me information. The contractor that was sent to our home on the first service call did give us a couple of days of air but we were required to pay $300 for Freon. We can have him return again but we would be required to pay another large amount while we wait on "authorization". At this point their timely manner is a falsehood.

American Home Shield is great. However, I'm not too pleased with the last contractor who brought in the washer. I called Home Shield and they gave me a number to call. I called and told the contractor my problem. This was on a Monday. The rep said, "Well, we'll not get it there till Friday." I said that that was a long two weeks. Then she said, "That's the only way we can do it." And she said I could speak to her manager. I told the manager the rep was very rude on the phone. The manager told me and explained this to me and said the contractor only goes to my area two days a week and the next available one is Friday. So, I'm still waiting for my washer.
But with AHS, I'm very, very satisfied with them. They return your calls and they do what they promise to do. They take care of everything you ask for, so I'm really pleased with them. I even told my friends and one of my friend joined two weeks ago.

When I had some toilet problem, I called it in then a plumber came out, fixed it, and told me everything about it. I enjoyed what he said. I would tell people to try American Home Shield and take a chance on it. It's good.

Dealing with AHS has been rough and submitting a request was kludgy. When the contractor never showed up, I took care of the issue in a different way. I was supposed to get a refund on that and that took months. So, it locked me out of my contract that I'm paying for every month when I didn't have any access to anything. That's ridiculous and that thing needs to happen faster.
When I contacted the office, the gal who manages the contractor side immediately said to do a refund because they couldn't do the job. But I had to call and bug people about my refund. AHS said they were waiting for the contractor but I told them that they weren't because the contractor already told me that they didn't. Besides that, I don't mind other minor things. Depending on where you live, things could be a little off and AHS could also do more on their website. But the last experience I had was wonderful and the contractor who was contacted was very professional and straightforward.

American Home Shield sucks. They raise my rates 10% a year. I recently filed a claim for a pool pump. They fixed the bad bearing in the motor, but they refused to fix the plumbing. They said it wasn't due to normal wear and tear. This is the second time with pool equipment that they've refused a portion of the service. Once was on my pop-up system, which is part of the plumbing, and now, another plumbing, although they say they cover all the plumbing. As soon as I can find a new home warranty company, I will drop American Home Shield and pick up the other company.

My compressor went out and AHS sent Heat & Cool Care. They cleaned the compressor, made some repairs, which seemed to fix things. But 36 hours later, went out again. But, the guys that came out were wonderful. They explained everything. They talked to me about the capacitor and things I didn't even know about. When they came back out, they did some other adjustments and it still continued to be a problem. The part of the unit that's in the house, where the furnace is, the water pump was not working. I had a water leak that was occurring. But they got it up and running again. We bypassed using the water pump and I had a bucket that the water would go into until they could see if they could find a compatible pump.
But then my compressor went out again. It was on its last legs. I said, "Is this repairable?" The tech said, "No. Really, it needs to be replaced." He showed me the date of installation on my original setup and it was 1988. So it had lived a good life. The decision was made to replace it because this was just going to keep happening. The temperatures are 105 here and no air conditioning. They installed my air conditioning and heater, 'cause it's all one unit and a new compressor. They took care of all of that. They've exceeded my expectations. I'm more than pleased with the work that they've done.

I would tell others AHS has proven to be handy for us. I had a claim for the air conditioner several months ago and All American Services, the contractor, was good. Most recently, the washing machine was not spinning and it took two weeks to get the repair done.

The AC at my son’s condo wasn’t turning on and he called American Home Shield. He called last year for a similar issue and did not have a great experience. But this time, it was much better. The contractor was very professional, clean and knew right what to do. I purchased a thermostat and asked him to put it on. And everything’s been great.

The techs fixed my freezer on my refrigerator. They also came out to do a maintenance on my air conditioner. Both times, they were very friendly and the service went well.

American Home Shield takes care of business and they're one of the best home warranty companies. I had a good relationship with my title rep. I told her that I was a real estate agent and I recommend American Home Shield. I had two plumbers come out and they couldn’t fix my issue. But the last plumber I had was really great and fixed the issue in 20 minutes.

For some reason, my AC stopped cooling. I was afraid that it was a coolant problem. United Air Temp came out, looked at it, and it looked like something was shorting it out. They were able to quickly diagnose it and fix the air conditioning unit. So, my experience was really great. It was a good deal. As far as American Home Shield, I like the ease of making a call and the appointment was established that day. Everyone came out on time. Also, regular payments to American Home Shield prevented me from having to make a big large payment. I just had an opportune time.

I like American Home Shield's referral plan. It's easy. People come out, they're professional, and they resolve my issues. They've been very helpful in all aspects of service. Budget AC Heating & Plumbing was one contractor I had and they did fine. American Home Shield is excellent and I’ll refer people to them.

I had an issue with my washing machine. The techs had the part that they said was the problem. They repaired the machine but a week later, it started acting up again, and there ended up being another problem. The website for the repair people wasn't allowing me to reschedule. I hate that everything's completely automated these days. So, I had to call American Home Shield and tell them what the problem was. I wasn't supposed to be charged because it was within 30 days. Otherwise, it was fine.

When I submitted a claim with AHS, they told us who was going to come. Then Coulee Locks called us themselves and told us that they would come and gave us the guy's name. He showed up and was very good. Everything was functioning lock-wise.

I've been having the same problem since I moved to the house. There was no hot water heater since August 8th. We had an inspection in July and it was good but when we moved, there was no water pressure. I had the guy named Steve from Home Inspection Shield and he said he didn't wanna do the job. You have to get into the ground because the ball valve and the water valve were not working. That was why we didn't get any pressure. He would have to break the cement in the ground and he didn’t wanna do it.
I called Roto-Rooter and the guy that came did the whole thing. He got in the ground and put new stuff in there. We then had water but it was cold. I had to pay out of pocket $1,500 for the Toto-Rooter guy to do that job. I asked Home Shield if they could call someone else. I was told that Steve was the only one that works out of my area. But that's not true because they later called Adrian. Adrian come out three times. He was very good and we like him. He could clearly see that we didn't have any hot water and he was reporting everything that he saw. Home Shield didn't wanna give us a hot water heater that’s 1,600 and something dollars. They were going by policies and procedures.
Home Shield had Adrian keep coming out. He had to order different parts that we needed for the hot water to work. He would get something and see if that worked. When that didn't work, Home Shield would have him try something else and order another part. It was a bunch of drama. We just got hot water this past Monday. I'm debating if I wanna keep Home Shield.

American Home Shield is pretty good, except I'm still right in the middle of trying to get one repair done. Ace came out and checked it out. Having the warranty gives me peace of mind that if something were to go wrong, you only have to pay the little deductible.

American Home Shield is a good company. They always send somebody out quickly. A plumber recently came out, looked and said, “It's not the water heater.” It was the AC unit so we got switched to an HVAC company. A repairman came out and fixed it. He was thorough. He said that something was clogged and he unclogged it.
