The shower began dripping. I couldn't get it to turn off. I replaced the valve stems and the washers in the spigot. That seemed to work okay for a while. Then it got to the point where it got back to I couldn't get it to turn off completely. I kept messing around with it trying to make it get better. I put in a request to have American Home Shield send somebody out. I got a call from Yamaz Plumbing. They had me send them a picture of the old valve stem. I took it out when I replaced it several months ago. They ordered the part that was needed and came out on the morning that was scheduled.
The guy was right on time. The thing that needed to be replaced was where the valve stem goes into the water pipe. There's a a brass seal in there. I could not get that to come out ‘cause I didn't have the right tool. He had the tool, pulled that particular piece out and replaced the valve stems ‘cause it's a two-handle faucet. He was in and out in less than an hour. It would have cost me more than the charge to buy the tool that was needed.
The best thing about American Home Shield is I can make an application for a service online and get it scheduled. The second best thing is I could either take a picture or a video of what is happening and send it to the person who's been assigned the repair. In this case, it saved an extra trip and hassle because he was able to identify exactly the part that was needed based on the pictures that I sent him. He was able to order the part and bring it with him. That made it very convenient. The only downside to American Home Shield is it's one thing one visit.

AHS is good. They do what they say they are. For my recent claim, the dishwasher wasn't working. The techs came out and they repaired it. They took care of it. They were excellent.

I like the consistency of AHS's service. The contractor showed up when they said they would. The tech found the problem with my dryer and fixed it right away. He change some kind of sensor on the door out and it works just fine. He was nice and very professional. If you're a homeowner, get AHS.

Once, I had a little problem. But the people that worked for American Home Shield were probably not up to the test. But everybody else I spoke to gave me a good service. When I place my request, they do it right away. But the person who comes to do the job, sometimes I get a little problem.90% of the contractors do the job. But recently, I have a guy who came in and told me he would come back, but he never called me back. And he tried to tell me something that was not right, because I had an idea of what he had to do. So, he told me, if something broke, I had to leave a piece of it for him. So, I didn’t like that. But 90% of them were very kind and good. I would recommend AHS.

Somebody had come out and indicated that the electronic motherboard of the oven needs to be replaced. But they no longer make that part, so the only thing I can really do at this point is to replace it. American Home Shield offered me to go shopping on their site to buy a new one with a certain budget. They also offered me cash in lieu. But I haven't decided yet.
The claims process is good. It's not that hard to use. Initially, I was making phone calls, and then it was easier to go online and put my request in. Then I got a contractor assigned to me and I could contact the contractor directly to make an appointment. Rather than waiting for them to reach out to me, I would reach out to them. Usually, I get an appointment that's reasonable. It seems like if you're more proactive, you get an appointment quicker. If you wait for the contractor to call you, they may call you when they feel like it.

I like American Home Shield’s service. However, there was a plumbing leak and that messed up the ceiling of another room. And it took them almost two months to get that fixed. They kept saying that the person that did it did not send the right information. I called the person who did it and that person said it was sent several times. So, it was a miscommunication. The AC is heating now but the day that the tech from Air Max Heating worked on it, it was cooling.

The oven stopped working. The tech came out and determined that it needed a new element. He ordered the parts right there. About a week later, the parts showed up. The contractor was scheduled to come back out to install the parts, and they did. We've been using the oven ever since. It’s worked like a champ.

At first, we were noticing that the clicker was not opening the garage door and there were two contractors that ended up coming out to fix it. The first one just looked at it and didn't attempt to do anything. He said that our clicker appear to be damaged, like ran over by a car, which was completely false. So, Judy, the homeowner, made a complaint to American Home Shield and continued to complain about them and got another company to come out. The second contractor was a lot better. They were awesome. The guy looked at our opener and saw the model of it, and saw how old it was. He said it needed to be replaced. They were old and terrible units. American Home Shield is good and reliable.

The oven that I had stopped working. The first appointment that I got, there was like an emergency and the technician wasn't able to get here. So it was like a last day like the day of cancellation from Sears. Then the second time they were supposed to come out, which was like almost two weeks later was their next available, they schedule you between 8:00 and 5:00 with no warning of the time, and the day of they said they would be coming, I think the window was like between 2:00 and 4:15. I had to leave my house at 5:00 to go to my son's football game. And so they had not gotten there by like 4:30. So I called their customer service. And basically, they said like the driver had like a few more stops. And so they weren't gonna get to my house until like after 6:00. And so we had to reschedule that appointment.
The last appointment, which was like another two weeks later, they made it within the window of 8:00 to 5:00. The technician was great. They were not here very long before they put in the order that says that the panel had died and that there wasn't a replacement. And then like later that day, I got an email that I could get a new one or get like an $800 Lowe's card. I ended up getting just replacing the range completely. I already have it installed. So that whole process only took like a week.

The temperature gauge in the garage was reading a 0, and there was some part with the tankless water heater that the repair man had to fix. He seemed to do his job well. The only thing with American Home Shield is it gets a little confusing on the contacts. They should pick a point of contact instead of multiple. If I reach out and my wife reaches out, it confuses them, and I get that. We’re both getting updates, but sometimes, they’re not in sync.

I had to call somebody for my garage again. The contractor came out about a month and a half ago, and they didn't do a good job. It still wasn't working, so I had to call another guy. He came and I ended up putting new openers in because they're just too old. This other guy didn't even say anything about that. He should have. He told me they were old but they can still get the parts. I asked how long it would take to get the parts. He said a couple of months. So, when it broke this time, I called them again. The guy said that it's the same thing and he had to get the parts. and I said to skip it. So, I ended up just buying them myself. It should have been fixed all the way. AHS responds quickly but I don't think they're covering the issues all the way that they should. They should cover a little better.

American Home Shield sent me a plumber because the water was not coming out of one of the sinks in my master bathroom. He was too lazy to take the cartridge out of the faucet and told me, "You just have to change it." It's fine to change that one but what do you do with the other one? The faucet is different. If they change, they have to go with a new one. I will have two different kinds of faucets. He turns around and tells me, "I can change the other one for you as well, but it's gonna cost you $350." That's not the reason for me to get American Home Shield. There's nothing wrong with their service. It's the problem of the plumber they're using. I am not happy right now.

I requested AHS for a service to fix three sinks and a toilet in my house. The techs came in professionally, knew what was needed, and fixed the issues quickly. I'm totally satisfied with my experiences with AHS. Having them takes a lot of the stress of trying to find someone to fix a problem in a timely manner and not get overcharged.

Our upstairs unit was only blowing warm air. American Home Shield sent two guys out in two different companies. The second one was a follow-up or a second opinion. There was an issue with the downstairs unit as well. It made a lot of racket. It sounded like a bearing going out. The air conditioning company said AHS would not warranty anything because it was making a racket. It has to be broken. So, there was nothing. He suggested we could change the filters, and went on with that. I said, “The one upstairs is blowing hot air. And we just noticed it.” And we said, “You need to understand that our two boys who moved away from home, nobody’s been out there in several months until my wife went up there to do some crafts in one of their bedrooms and realize, “Hey, the AC is not working.” And we need to get that fixed when they come on to visit.
The first guy said the upstairs unit was low on Freon. But he said, “Look, it's gonna cost more to fill it up with Freon than it is to replace it. I'm gonna run it past American Home Shield.” That was when the second company showed up. And they came out and said, “It's a few pounds low. We're gonna put some Freon in it.” He asked me if I had a deductible. I said I don't know. And he said, “I'll put the Freon in it.” And that was it.
My wife got a phone call a couple of days later. It was a survey of how their business went. Those guys from Texas Heat and Air were a bit sloppy. I mentioned to the guy that the downstairs unit still made a racket. He came in, opened the door to the lower unit, the closet that it sets in downstairs, and started taking that cover off. It has several little screws around the outside of it. He had a battery-powered drill. The man just about rounded off every one of those screws with that drill, getting the screws out.
When he got through, he couldn't find anything. So, he was making a racket. Put the cover back on. And he looked at me and looked at that vacuum cleaner sitting there beside the AC unit, shut the door, and walked off. He walked out the back door, and shut it rather firmly and they left. I used to be an electrician, and one of the things that my boss always said was, “Before leaving that house, make sure you put everything back and cleaned it up.” It's not the end of the world that he didn't put the vacuum cleaner up. I can do that. And I did. It's just something that I noted.
He also asked me, when he was talking about a deductible, if I had someone that we would pay for. I said, “I don't know. You have to talk to American Home Shield.” And he said something about, “Since I already put it in there, I'll have to eat it.” And I said, “Look, I don't know. I don't expect you to eat anything.” And he just went on.
If we had had to pay 1,200 bucks, which is what him or his buddy was suggesting for Freon, I would have been upset. But we didn’t. He put the Freon in. I asked him if there was any need to try to chase a leak. And he said, “No. There’s no leak.” The first company said there was a leak in the system somewhere. Obviously, it’s slowly. I can try to track it down, or I can put some stuff he described that never leaked, that would seal a hole. And he said, “But I need to call American Home Shield.” And I waited, and waited. Never heard from him. This other company showed up. I asked him and he said he wouldn’t put anything like that in my system. It’s not worth it. I didn’t want to get into a debate with him about what another company said. So, he put the Freon in and went on. We’re satisfied for now. The air conditioners are both cooling.

We've replaced our refrigerator, the washing machine and the air conditioner. We used American Home Shield fairly heavily. The biggest downside with using it is largely pandemic related. When our fridge went out, they didn't have anybody in the area to replace the fridge, so we could get a credit to go to Lowe's and find a fridge. The first 13 we looked at, they had a model out on the floor but weren't in stock. We’d gotten a $2,500 credit. But the fridge we ended up getting was 3,400. So, it hadn't caught up yet to cost and availability. That fridge needed to get repaired and it took three weeks because they had to order the parts.
The same thing was going on with the washing machine. It was almost a month. They spent almost $800 on the time it took to repair it and getting the parts but the brand new one we bought was 550. It doesn't make sense to spend more to repair something than it would cost to replace it. We ended up pulling it out and bought a new washer-dryer.

RR HVAC came and fixed our air conditioner. They were great. A service technician also came out to fix the washing machine, but it was a problem with the pipe in the wall so he wasn't able to fix it. We're gonna have to have somebody else come out and clear the pipe that's in the wall. We have another guy coming out today to do a dryer vent cleaning. He's with ProService Connect. So far, we're satisfied with American Home Shield.

I called American Home Shield for an AC issue, and the representative I spoke with was great. The tech was very focused on his job and he got done really quickly. We didn't think the AC was cooling enough, and he put some Freon in it.

When you have a home warranty, you are able to get your appliances fixed. The bottom of our dishwasher was filling up with water and it would leak out. It would throw a code and it wouldn't work. Techs came and they've been great. But now, the dishwasher is still filling up with water. I'll be calling them today.

I did a claim to American Home Shield for the hot water tank. There was no hot water. The technician was very professional. He had to come back out because he had to order a whole new water tank. AHS also replaced a few appliances in our home. We really haven't had any issues with them.

The was very nice. He said that my hot water tank that was making a popping sound was not broken. I told him, "I don't want to come home and have my basement flooded. Tell American Home Shield, if they won't pay for the whole thing, I'll pay something of it so we can get it fixed.” The guy said he was going to call them that day and I have not heard anything from anyone.

Mack’s came out and fixed our issue. The tech came back three times and each time, the part needed to be fixed. We had good contact with them. He’s a young guy. Overall, American Home Shield is good.

I filed three claims with American Home Shield within a week. The claim for the air conditioning unit was a wonderful experience. The repairman was terrific. He said it was a bunch of wires, and whatever it was, he fixed it. He was up on the roof for at least an hour. He couldn’t be nicer. For the pool claim, we're still waiting on the pool heater. But the contractor was great too. I would recommend them in a second. There was something wrong electrically and they said they don't handle that. I had to hire an electrician and they have just fixed that. The pool company said the part needed to be replaced. That's what they're going back to tell the owners. The owner called me even yesterday because he knows the pool is the most important thing to me.
However, I'm on a little bit of a toss-up with the garbage disposal guy. I’ve used him before. He said it's electrical work underneath. We ended up getting a garbage disposal. I bought a new one on Amazon because he said, “We don't do that kind of work.” I ended up paying $225 for the garbage disposal. The thing that aggravates me is that I get the Philippines when I call and they try to get these American names.

The washing machine stopped working properly and started leaking water everywhere. R&S Home Maintenance came out in a reasonable amount of time and they had a good work ethic.

My air conditioner wasn't working. The tech came and told me I needed an electrician instead. The electrician replaced one of my fuses and told me that I needed a new box. Two weeks later, my air conditioner went out again because we had a surge and that hit my electrical box again. They should have replaced the box. Other than that, the electrician was nice.
Three years ago, the AC techs had to put Freon in my AC and I had to pay $500. They came back the next year and said that I needed a new air conditioner. It cost me $1,700 which AHS should have paid. That's not right. I've also had a hot water heater issue and the tech's answer to me was, “We’re turning up the heat because it doesn't hold the heat anymore.” He has it at the highest point which is illegal where I live. He told me AHS told them that they're not supposed to replace it until it's totally rusted out and leaking all over my floor. But they have been good on other things they have had to replace.

I had trouble with the fridge. The first time that American Home Shield scheduled a person, he didn't come. He said they don't work on that type of refrigerator. So American Home Shield changed me over to this other guy that did come out. He was a real nice guy but he didn't even work on the refrigerator. He didn't have the parts to fix my refrigerator. So I'm waiting on parts now for him to come back on October 25th. With my AC claim, it went fine but it was something loose and the tech just put it back on. He could have just serviced it while he was there, but he didn't. That was $125 waste. Every time the contractors come out, I have to pay $125. So, I'm not happy with American Home Shield at all.

Only hot water came through in my shower and not the cold water. I had that problem before and the cartridge had to be replaced. I never replaced it in that particular bathroom and I didn't even know what the problem was until my house guests were showering. I called Home Shield at about noon. The service company called me right back and said they would be there between 1:00 and 6:00. A man was out here the same day at around 2:00 and fixed the issue. That company was fantastic. The man knew what he was doing and he had the part on his truck. I was very pleased. I am very satisfied with Home Shield. Every time I called them, they had people come out and fix the problem. This one with the shower was exceptional. My son has Home Shield too.

American Home Shield gets good people out here. Our refrigerator quit. There’s a thermostat in there that’s supposed to keep ice from building up in it. It went out, so the ice built up and it stopped the fan, and then it stopped cooling. I requested service on a Friday, and we were going away for the weekend. The guy came out on Monday. He was nice, and he was only here about three hours. He melted the ice and replaced the thermostat. Our refrigerator was repaired that day, and it's working great.

I called American Home Shield for the dryer. The young man that came out was absolutely delightful. He was so professional and kind. He disconnected everything. He had to order a part. He came back when the part came in but they had sent the wrong part, so he had to come back again but he took care of it. Submitting the claim is not hard. It's just getting somebody out here sometimes takes forever. Then sometimes some of the people that they send out are not worth it.

I've been with AHS for 20 something years and at first, I didn't like the service. But it's gotten better. I've had some pretty costly things that needed to get done and they got done, so that's a big benefit. But I don't like paying the monthly. Aside from that, I recently had an issue on the hot water tank and we got it resolved.

We've used American Home Shield three or four times and everything's been smooth. We've been very satisfied with them. They've replaced an appliance of ours because it was broken. We requested for service recently when we had a stove that had some issues. The contractor scheduled the service and fixed it.

We had to have two technicians come out for the dishwasher because the first one that American Home Shield sent out didn't fix the problem and didn't communicate it well. I had to put in a request for another technician. The issue ended up just being a piece of glass in there that he was able to take out. American Home Shield was not very clear when they called back about what was going on. So it wasn't just the vendor or the tech that they sent out. We had to do a lot of follow up in order to get this resolved. So better customer service would be great if we're paying for this service monthly.

American Home Shield is great. They’ve saved me from some costly repairs. A repairman had to come out twice recently ‘cause the wire burnt out on my dryer. It needed to be a little heavier gauge. He fixed that.

There were outlets that were not working in a particular part of the place. I submitted the claim and then it took a while for me to get somebody scheduled. I was just sitting idly for a week without outlets that worked. But the tech from Washington Electrician who came out was awesome.

For the first request, it was very good. The first contractor that they assigned was very helpful and got everything fixed. But right now, I have an issue with a leak in my house and the first contractor that AHS assigned said they didn't have availability. So, I called AHS again yesterday and they assigned another one. I'm trying to reach that contractor and they don't pick up. I called again today and I was told by AHS that I should wait 24 hours for the contractor to contact me. But if they don't respond after I call them three times and I'm not even able to leave a message, then AHS should be able to transfer my service to someone else.

The AC was blowing but there was no cold air. So the contractor came out, and they realized there was a leak in the coil. So American Home Shield ended up replacing the whole unit. I have a safety net with AHS. If something does go wrong or break, I don't have to figure things out on my own. I’m paying for the service and I can call somebody.

When we call, AHS sends someone out. They've never replaced anything for us, but they always send someone to fix an issue if it's fixable. The contractors know what they're doing. Recently, the heater was making a lot of noise. A repairman came in and made some changes. He was able to repair it the same day. The only complaint I have is every time we call in, it's a problem. I had a pipe that had a leak in it, but AHS doesn't replace stuff like that. They say if it's not something that's happening on a regular basis, they don't fix it. It's like I don't even have a home warranty when I get issues like that.

I had a plumbing issue. The process with American Home Shield was fine. The repair company had to come out twice. They tried to repair the part and that repair did not work so they had to replace it. If any repair person comes out to attempt to fix a problem, and that very same day, it goes out again, I think that you are due a follow-up the next day by that repair company. Unfortunately, I had to wait back. I was put back in line. They came within two days, but I felt like they should have come right back out.

The pool equipment was failing. The claim process with AHS went smoothly. But they sent one of the vendors that I didn't like. So, they changed to a different vendor. Other than that, it went well. The tech knew what he was talking about. I like AHS. Every time I have an issue, they send somebody right away and they take care of it.

There was a loud, ear-splitting whine on my AC, so I had to shut it off. We recorded the sound, then a guy came out and replaced the fan motor. It took time to get the part, but the claims process was very good. I like American Home Shield's prompt service, and I'm happy with them.

My toilet was cracked, and it was leaking water. I asked for a contractor to come out. They reviewed it and told me that I needed a new toilet and what my options would be. They could give me a toilet that would be the same type of toilet and they could install it themselves, or I could buy my own and they could install it, or I could do it on my own, or I could find another company to do it as well for cheaper, but that the home warranty probably wouldn't cover it because it's not normal wear and tear for porcelain to crack. I ended up getting my own toilet and installing it with my dad and my boyfriend.

So far, the service has been pretty good. The only thing is they seem to be charging me the top rate. I thought I made it clear to them that I live in a condo and the top rate includes roof repair and stuff like that, which is handled by the condominium association so I shouldn't be charged for that.

The garage door opener malfunctioned and AHS got it scheduled with a repairman pretty quick. The tech who came out was knowledgeable and courteous. They were a nice company and I would like to use them again if I ever have issues. We will most likely renew our contract with AHS at the end of the year when it comes up.

I had to get a new water softener. But that wasn't covered. They also charged me right away one time, but then, the person couldn't come. I had to call someone else. I also had an issue with the electrical that wasn't covered. But I also had some things covered. Recently, the key that I had wasn't opening up all the doors and the tech from Realty Rekey was awesome. It was great.

The coil on the AC had been leaking for two years and it was leaking out Freon just enough. But it wouldn't do well. I called AHS and the techs they sent out were very good. But we had to wait for the coil. In the meantime, I had to go to Dallas for a colostomy and I was gone for two months. But during that time, they were great, waiting on the coil from American Home Shield. Then we got it fixed the other day, so it all worked out okay.

One claim was good, one claim was bad. I signed up for an HVAC maintenance and paid the $150 for the two units to get serviced. That was on a Thursday. Friday morning, I got a phone call from the company it was assigned to. I wasn't able to get to the phone. The message said, “We've scheduled your service for Monday from 1:00 to 6:00. Please call to confirm or cancel.” I promptly called back to cancel ‘cause that wasn't a good time or day for me. I left a message, but no one called me back. I called again at 4:30 that Friday and left another message saying, “You scheduled this appointment without even talking to me. I'm not available. I need to change it. Call me back.” Nobody called me back. I called on Monday morning because they were supposed to come that day between 1:00 and 6:00. I left another message, but no one called me back.
At that time, I reached out to my local representative, Lisa. She also tried to call the company to reschedule. She left a message. She never got a call back. At 4:30, I got a text from the company saying that the person was on the way. I told them that I wanted a phone call but nobody called me back. The person showed up. I happened to be home. When he got here, he didn't know what he was even here for. He did an okay job, but it was supposed to be for heating and he didn't even check the heating. When I questioned him, he said that he was just doing the spring maintenance. It wasn't a good experience at all. I texted that number back and called that company back, but never once did I get a phone call from the company.
The Realtor bought my policy and apparently, they were given a discount from Coldwell Banker. I got a phone call from American Home Shield saying my account was past due for $125. I told them this was given to me by the Realtor, and that it was paid in full. After multiple phone calls, it turned out that the discount that they were given wasn't applied. Lisa helped me get that taken care of. She also helped me get a plumber schedule. I had a great experience with that plumbing company, but it's not been a very good experience with American Home Shield at all.

The last two calls I had with American Home Shield were not covered. I don't know if I have the best policy or not because I understand they no longer offer the policy I have. Neither one of the people who came didn't do anything at all. One came to look at the doorbell and the outlet, and then the other one came out for the garage. They said the spring on the garage is not covered, which is the main component that operates the garage.

Royal Flush AC came out, checked the air conditioner, checked all the systems and determined that there was a leak or loss of Freon. Put in four pounds, which I paid for, and then told me that, if the same thing happened again with the AC, that American Home Shield wouldn't cover it. But AHS is excellent. They have good service. They're polite and professional and they have good contractors so far.

I had two claims in the same week, one with my stove and the other with my washer. Both required parts and I'm in the position of waiting for parts for both. Both of my contractors are excellent. But I would love the opportunity for there to be a mobile app as that would make it much more convenient to put in service orders. Also, both my washing machine and my stove went out at the same time and I was unable to select two on the online service. Once I selected one, all other options are grayed out. That has put me in a position now of spending money twice for issues that could have been addressed by the same service person.
The same tech came to my house twice in one week. That's not the best use of my time or my money. If I had made a phone call and made the reservation, I would have been able to do two. But if it's more convenient for me to use the online service, then I should have the same option. Other than that, everybody has been very responsive.

We had a roof issue and an AC problem. The roof contractor was fine but AHS only had one contractor available for this area. There is a cap on what they will cover and so the tech said, "Hey, you have a cap of 1,500 bucks, which American Home Shield will cover, and it's gonna cost you more." He quoted above the average price. I couldn't ask for quotes elsewhere and present the quotes to them. If I had to hire somebody without asking without contacting AHS, I would have ended up paying two-thirds of what I paid, and the job would have been done.
I paid 1600 bucks on top of what AHS would cover which was upsetting. At the end of the day, we saved a few bucks but the job was done nicely. The contractor overpriced the job but they were good at what they did. AHS has worked for us somehow and we definitely save money. Also, their response is fast.

I used my policy a few weeks ago when we had problems with our garbage disposal. The process was really easy. I got a call pretty quickly to schedule an appointment for somebody to come with their contracted services. We were followed up the next day by that company and they took care of things. They were very polite and knowledgeable. They gave a ton of advice and tried to keep our things working properly. It was a good experience. With AHS, it's good to have peace of mind knowing that if anything's gonna go wrong in our home as we're living in it, that it's going to be taken care of.

The AC unit was totally broken and it wasn’t covered by American Home Shield. I just had to buy a brand new one and replace it. I paid the whole 9,000. I bought a new home and took out AHS in May and I probably wouldn't do it again. All they ever fixed was just the refrigerator because the refrigerator icemaker did not work.

My furnace started to leak when we had extremely high temperatures outside. I called American Home Shield and they set up an appointment with Whitney T Holdings. Two guys came and they determined that the drain pipe from the AC unit that's hooked up around the furnace was clogged. They went out, bought new piping, came back, and repaired it. They were missing about a foot or two so they used my existing piping there. They pieced it together and then left. They didn't even wait to turn it on to see if it was working.
A couple of days later, my AC unit was on and it was clicking off. But my furnace was running and it started to leak again. I called them back two days later and they said it was my AC unit. It was never my furnace. The man told me to make another claim for my AC unit. I had to pay another $125 deductible. The guy came out and he was putzing around for about an hour or so. He was not understanding why it was turning on but then turning off. He thought that it might have been the condenser on the AC unit. He said, "Maybe we'll get you a new unit out of this too." A couple of days later, he came back and said it was a loose wire. Everything's working now with my heat and my AC unit.
I made another claim where Whitney T Holdings should have told me it was my AC unit and where I didn't have to pay another deductible. My husband ended up calling American Home Shield and he wanted to know if he could get a refund on that because it was actually the AC and not the furnace. The furnace was originally leaking water but we didn't know it was coming from the tubing that is from the AC unit. They dropped the ball on that.
American Home Shield is great and I like them, except for one time. I called them and asked them if I could go with a different company because I never heard of Whitney T Holdings. I gave them a referral and they denied me on that. They said they already contacted the contractor. I said I wanted to go with people that I know.

When we were initially buying the policy with American Home Shield, I asked the rep on the phone, "If we buy the house and there was an underlying issue that we didn't know about, is that something that you guys will cover?" He said yes and listed off some examples. The next time I had called American Home Shield, I asked the woman on the phone, "One of your guys was telling me about what you guys cover and what you don't. If some outlets aren't working and it turns out they never worked, do you cover that?" She said, "Absolutely not. That would be fraud." I said, "One of your salespeople told me they would cover that." She just wrote it off. We were told things by certain sales reps on the phone that were blatantly untrue and we didn't realize till after we moved in the house.
When we first moved in, we had a plumbing claim which American Home Shield didn't accept. It's more of a hit or miss depending on the contractor. Anything that isn't an appliance has been disappointing because I'm not entirely sure what they cover until we've already sunk some money into it. The times that American Home Shield is good is when it's an appliance. The ice maker on our fridge stopped working. We brought somebody out. I talked to him over the phone. He said, "We normally send somebody out, but you're so far away. Can you do me a favor and take a quick video showing me what it's doing? Take some photos, send it to me." Within a week, they had somebody come out. The part was replaced, and all we had to do was pay the American Home Shield dispatch fee. That went great.
We had a similar experience with our washer. A part had broken and the clothes were coming out dirtier than they were put in. We submitted a claim and somebody came out quickly. They checked it and told us what was wrong. When they shipped a part here, we called them, and they came out and fixed it. But other things had been hit or miss. We did a claim for a problem we were having with our tub spout. American Home Shield contracted out a plumber. He showed up to the house and told my wife, "This is a problem that exists in the home. It's not something that they cover at all." He wrote it off as a pre-existing issue, and they didn't do anything.
We had filed a claim and someone came out to check on our electrical because an outlet was broken. He checked the outlet and saw that the voltage seemed normal, which was strange because it wasn't working. He turned on a light switch, checked the voltage again, and noticed that it changed. He flicked another light switch then I heard him say, "What the hell?"
Apparently, whoever owned the house before us wired it up in such a way that the outlet was doomed to stop working. What he told us was American Home Shield would cover the outlet repair. Then, we got a quote for how much wasn't covered. The only thing that American Home Shield said was access. I tried to get them to clarify what access means. They'll fix the outlet, but they're not covering the access for the repair. They're not covering the work trying to get into the wall. The guy told us that he's gonna have to cut into the drywall to fix the junction box. They gave us a quote. They said, "It'll be $178 for them to come out and fix it." That's the charge for the access.
It seems like some of the contractors American Home Shield hires out try very hard to just write it off as something they don't cover. The transparency of what they cover versus what they define as things they cover is questionable. I would like more details on what they cover or not cover because I hate to pay the $100 dispatch fee to have them come out to tell us, "That's not part of your contract."

Our refrigerator was not cooling and it just stopped altogether. American Home Shield sent out Sears. Their techs looked at the refrigerator and ordered a bunch of parts but they never came back. Another company came out and they looked at the refrigerator. They realized that it was shot and that there was no way to fix it. We went from there. They did a good job. Of the things that American Home Shield covers, I don't like that they take so long and they give you the runaround whenever someone doesn't show up. We waited months before they could assign someone new to us and to get the refrigerator fixed. I'm dealing with American Home Shield right now for another claim.

Our air conditioning unit was making a lot of noise then all of a sudden, it stopped working. A gentleman came out and assessed it. He told us what needed to be done. He told American Home Shield in detail what things needed to be done and what needed to be replaced or repaired. My experience with this home warranty has been very good. I had a situation recently on my refrigerator where the guy came out very quickly and took care of it. The refrigerator is working without any problems at all. 90% of the time, I’m very satisfied.
I've used American Home Shield since 2006 and I've been pleased with them. Initially, there was some miscommunication. My claim was declined because it said that we were only clients for less than a month. Come to find out that for that particular contract, we have been a client for over eight and a half years. In the end, things turned up to our total satisfaction. I feel comfortable with this home warranty and I trust that I would not have a home - whether it be my own personal home, a rental property, or investment property - without having American Home Shield. I've always carried it.

My water heater busted on a Saturday and nobody could come out that soon, so the contractor came out Monday, assessed it and gave me my options right there on the spot. And they installed it on Wednesday. I couldn't have had a better process. I'm having problems with other contractors right now. So, in comparison, everything was great.

American Home Shield came with our house when we bought it, and we've just kept up with it because there's value in it. My dishwasher flooded. The tech did a great job. The dishwasher is working great. I've only worked with him through American Home Shield when he fixed a few of our appliances, and he’s very friendly and quick, and does the job and it's fixed.
AHS is something that you want for your home in case something happens with one of your appliances, like when our dishwasher flooded our kitchen and someone was able to come out and fix it. We didn't have to go and buy a new one or pay a repair person to come out and do it. We just went through our warranty. It's easy to call or to go online and schedule service and get what I need fixed in a timely and efficient manner. And the workers that come out are usually great and get everything finished quickly and efficiently. Also, I like the reminders that I get to do things, like to make sure to have the AC checked every half year, which is nice because I don't always remember that.

I've been satisfied so far with American Home Shield. I’ve only had them for three weeks and I've made two requests. And each time, it has been easy to request online. They have somebody scheduled within a couple of days that comes out. They came out to take a look, diagnose, order the part, come back, install. They called me that the part was in and they could come. The freezer didn't defrost in time so they came out, couldn't do it, and came back the next day. So we're pleased with the whole process. It went well.

We've been very pleased with American Home Shield. We've had two air conditioning issues and they did a great job with that. Most recently, there was a valve in the refrigerator that gave way and was leaking. Keilly's Plumbing came out and replaced that valve. There was another valve that was replaced on an outside faucet and I had that faucet replaced as well. The contractors in both cases were excellent. American Home Shield has always been very proven for us.

I had an electrical claim and one for the overhead raised microwave. I tried to submit my claims online, but American Home Shield's website wouldn't let me select different claims depending on the appliance, so it made me have to call in. When the tech came out the first time, he troubleshot the microwave, changed out some things, and thought he fixed it. But the next day, it did it again. I called AHS, they sent him back out, and he did his repairs. The microwave hasn't had a problem since.

Accord Appliance recently came out and plugged in my dryer. They were good. American Home Shield had sent out one that was terrible. Other than that, I've had American Home Shield do some other things, and they were good. They seem to respond. I like their regional rep, Karen. She's on top of things.

The service of AHS has been very good so far. Recently, the techs worked on the dryer and fixed it. They seemed to be very professional. I also had a claim for a repair on the washing machine. With AHS, I like being able to call somebody and knowing you're gonna get somebody to come to do it instead of having to go through the yellow book to find somebody to do it.

The service is usually pretty good, but we've had issues with a couple of companies and some having to fight to get our stuff fixed. The water heater broke and the first company AHS gave us just straight didn't do anything. We finally got another company and AHS had to charge us twice for it. We got the other company to replace the water heater because it was three days still within warranty and AHS wasn't willing to work with them. My family was without hot water for about six weeks in the spring, when it was still cold out.
Then this year, we had an issue with a fridge. The first company that was sent out wanted us to do some stuff and then call them back. We did exactly what the tech wanted us to and then he said to wait three weeks. When the tech did that, he closed out the claim and by the time we called back, it had been closed for more than a month. We had to pay again to get the fridge fixed. The service is still a net benefit but I have to spend entirely too much time on the phone fighting with the company to get the benefit that I'm already entitled to based on what I'm paying.

My HVAC was having issues. I used American Home Shield and had someone come out. On the phone, I described the problem. They said, “Sounds like we just need to flush it or drain the pipe.” When they came, they actually were on the phone with another person, made it like a whole big thing, and then said, “We can handle this. I just talked to the insurance people.” When I talked to American Home Shield later, they told me, “We can't cover the damages or the issue with your machine. You're going to have to pay out of pocket to replace the entire system.” I was flabbergasted. I was under the impression that it was covered, that it was easy, and it wasn't going to cost me any more money except the service request.
One thing that was disappointing was how long it took for them to believe what I was saying and then, second, to send out a second opinion, and then, three, to help solve the problem. Eventually, I was able to get an appointment with Cecil & Sons. I explained what happened on the phone. They were very happy and communicative. They listened. They said, “We'll do an assessment. We’ll check X, Y, and Z.” They checked the fluids and the pipes. They tested the fan and they were able to solve the problem in under 30 minutes and literally said, “The issue is the condenser and this part, it's full. So, you have blockage here.” They were able to snake the line and let the water run through. Within, an hour, the ice had melted. The HVAC system was working as it should.
However, I had an issue back in February and I had scheduled it with AHS. There was an issue with a different contractor. When I went back to confirm if the problem was ever solved, I realized it was still an open issue. Reaching out to them and not hearing anything back from a different contractor and everyone was just saying, “They dropped the ball. You should have done it within this time frame.” So, that was something I didn't get my money back for and, eventually, just gave up and pulled out and I did a completely new service.

I've been with AHS for about two years and I'm not crazy about the service. The plumbing service is terrible. Every time they come, they want to modify it because it'd be easier but then they want to add me all these additional costs. It was ridiculous. Also, they never could come out the day you need them. It could be days. One canceled on me and then they had to come out the following week. They said the tech had COVID but another person came out Monday. Then, I got another person that came out on Tuesday. It was a mess.
So last time, I found my own plumber on the outside and they fixed it for $89. But I had a refrigerator claim and the tech from Demand Justis came promptly and did the job. He had to come out several times. The first time, it was the control board and I asked about my ice maker. He said they have to order the parts. Then, there were four different things he had to do to it but he did it all and as soon as he got the parts, he called me right away. Also, the pool service was great. The pool company they use is Clearwater and we were happy with that one. They came out right away.

My icemaker wouldn't work. The contractor came out and they said they had to order a part. When the part came in, they came to put it on, but they said they didn't need it because two wires had come loose in the back. So they fixed that, and ice was coming out in the glass. After all the ice was emptied, the icemaker was making ice but it wasn't dropping it in the bin. So I had to call back and have them come out and adjust it to make the ice fall in the bin so it would dispense out of the dispenser. The contractor was very helpful. They did what they could do. When I called them back to come back and fix that second problem with the ice not falling into the bin, they said I had to get another claim and I did that. Then they came right back out and fixed it. Everything's fixed. They were very pleasant. They were fast and very neat. It’s a very good experience.

American Home Shield answered whenever I called. Whenever I put in a request for a repair, I got a call back or an email saying, "We have set it up. Someone will be in contact with you shortly." Sears came out for the last repair we have for the dryer and the stove. Both were very well. They called before they came to let me know. They asked before they got there exactly what was going on and then when they got there, they did the repair. I have had no problems since then.

I went through American Home Shield to get the claim processed for the AC. They engaged the contractor who came out and did what they needed to do, and it was fine. I ended up paying a lot of money for Freon, which I realized was part of the contract. But AHS lived up to what they promised. Sometimes though, there is too much of the band-aid approach, recognizing they don't want to replace equipment. But there are certain incidents where I've got to have folks come back out for the same problem over and over again before it gets resolved. But that's part of the underwriting on their end.

My hot water heater was leaking and it needed to be replaced. The work ethic of the techs was great. They were out within two days. They had to get the parts and the heater itself so the process took five days. But watch what you're signing with AHS. One thing I was dissatisfied with was when my air conditioner broke down, it needed Freon and they only paid for 10 gallons. I ended up having to pay $600 for the rest of the Freon. Also, when the hot water heater went down, I ended up having to pay $459 for permits that they needed. Other than that, I've never had a problem with AHS. Their customer service is great. Even when I do my claim online, immediately get a referral number and who's going to be doing the work. The one time I couldn't get somebody to come out within four days, they sent me to somebody else. They honor a lot of the things.

American Home Shield had assigned me a plumber but my husband said we didn't need a plumber. I contacted American Home Shield and they gladly took off the claim and reused it. They got another AC company who came out within the next day. The person they sent was very nice. He came in, knew the problem right away, and fixed our air conditioner. American Home Shield is a very good investment.

Kern Key Services did a new key for my house. The tech was quick and professional. I currently have a claim on my dishwasher, and I'm not happy with the way that American Home Shield is handling it. It's been over a month. They had a technician come out who did analysis. I had to wait for the report to come back. That took a couple days. Once the report came back, I didn't agree with their assessment on it. I was there when the technician did his services and his testing.
The only options I had was to have another technician come out which required me to pay another $85. They came out, came up with a completely different assessment and said that a part was broken by force. It’s a brand-new house. I told American Home Shield it was impossible for him to make a determination without taking any parts apart to look at them. But American Home Shield stood by the vendor. That makes no sense how they came up with that. Then it was back and forth. American Home Shield tried to call to get an update from the company about how they made that assessment. Then they told me to call. I called the company. They said, “It is what it is. This is our report.”
My dishwasher is still broken. No one's saying anything. It's clearly not broken by force. It might have had poor maintenance done before, but it's still only a three-and-a-half-year-old dishwasher. Now we're back with the first guy. I sent him pictures of the part the second guy said was broken. He's gonna make a new report. I have to wait for that report. I asked American Home Shield how I’d cancel my contract ‘cause I was so frustrated with them. But the last two representatives that I talked to were extremely helpful, had a very positive attitude and was willing to help, which changed my perspective on their company. But because of everything else, I wouldn't use them again.

American Home Shield is a great company. They are fantastic and easy to deal with. Their website has always been easy to manage and understand and it's quick. Filing a claim was very easy. It took about two minutes to fill out the form and get the claim submitted, and then another 30 minutes before I spoke with the company that they requested to schedule an appointment. The tech that came out was fantastic.

I called American Home Shield originally for a checkup. Once they told me they could only do one furnace at one rate, I would have to have two different rates. So, that would be $75 apiece since I got two furnaces in the house. I said, "It's not getting hot. Just send the person out to fix it." So I figured, I can just go from there. He's gonna tell me what's going on.
The technician came out, introduced himself and I told him what was going on. I said, "Well, I'm a first time homebuyer. All this stuff is supposed to be new and I'm not for sure if I'm working it right. I'm not getting any heat." He said, "Okay. Where do you want to start?" I said, "We can start in the basement." We went down to the basement. First, he looked at the thermostat and he went down to the basement. He opened it up, looked at it, made a few adjustments, and then closed it back up. Again, he said, "Let's go back to the thermostat." He came upstairs. He said, "Okay. There's nothing wrong down there." I said, "Well, I'm not getting any heat." He said, "All you got to do is turn it up." Then he turned the thermostat up. He said, "Did you turn this up?" I said, "No. 'Cause usually, when I got it on 74 on my car, I can't take it. It's too hot." So he said, "No. This is a house. It's not a car. You got to turn it up."

I had an issue with my dryer and my washer not filling up properly. The repairman explained to me how the washer worked. He broke it down to me very clearly. For the dryer, it needed a belt and he fixed it. He explained to me what I could do to preserve the life of my washer and dryer. He did a great job. I'm glad that I got AHS. They didn't give me any hassle. Once they got the 125, their contractor came out and did the repair. I didn't have to jump through any hoops.

The tech did a great job. I told him what was going with the AC unit and he diagnosed the issue. It was a bad fan motor. He replaced it and the unit kicked on. He gave me something to look at in the future if I was looking at the AC unit itself. I like that with AHS, some of my household appliances are covered if they ever go out. I've had them come out with plumbing issues and AC and everyone they’ve sent has been pretty good.

The mechanism on the garage door opener broke. I reached out to American Home Shield via the internet. The turnaround time was extremely quick. The tech was out the next day. He called the same day. I lucked out. They had a cancellation and it worked out well. The only thing is having AHS is kind of expensive. I've used it for little things, but I pay 600 and some dollars a year for it. I’ve been paying for it for a number of years.

I've been happy with American Home Shield. Sometimes, the people that they send aren't the greatest and they've had to send somebody else out to fix the problem. But they're doing the best they can. They can't always be responsible to make sure that the people that come out here are professional. I did a claim for the air conditioner recently. We went to the bank, got a loan for $3,000, and gave it to the repairman. His name is Chris. He said that something else needs to be done upstairs. It's a relatively new unit. He wanted more money for a coil. I called over there a couple of times but I haven't heard a word from him. It's been weeks.

There was a problem in the appliance. It was not working with. Mr. Appliance came, they diagnosed, probably to change the part, but that didn't fix the problem. So, they had to submit the claim to replace the appliance. They explained to me everything, what they were doing, and why it will fix and why it wouldn't fix. Everything's good now. I got a new dishwasher and it's working fine. Fixing my dishwasher took a lot of time. And at a time, I was having some challenges in reaching the right people in the claim process. But at the end, it was fine. It was a good experience. American Home Shield is good. I recommended one of my friends and they signed up as well.

AHS is a rip-off because you think you're getting something fixed. My AC unit is down and I've had to pay for the refrigerant which is $1,800. AHS pays $10 a pound and they keep fixing our unit and it keeps breaking down. They tell me they'll replace it but they kept fixing and fixing. Also, AHS sends companies who don't know what they're doing. They sent one company out to put a motor in my AC unit a couple of years ago. The guy put an interior motor in an exterior unit, and in the last two months, the water got in. The next guy came and said, "No wonder your AC is down. They put an interior motor in and this is an exterior unit.". So, he put the motor in. The motor has been good since that.
But AHS's techs don't come to fix anything. It can be 500 degrees outside and they'll look at the unit but not bring parts. I've worked in maintenance for 40 years and we've never sent a worker out and not have any equipment for him to take. Why would AHS schedule a guy to go out if they don't check and see if they have the parts? My washing machine broke down and the guy said, "I gotta order a part." He came back and said he couldn't get the part and AHS is going to pay me money so I can replace it. He can just go on his computer and see if he can find the part while standing in my laundry room. This is the computer age.
As soon as AHS fixes my AC unit, I'm dropping them.

AHS could return phone calls in a more timely fashion. It's not a timely manner to get things done. It took three weeks to get somebody over to look at our air conditioner and they wouldn't give me any answers why. Then, the contractor didn't fix it right and had to come back and do it again. But the techs were really nice.

My refrigerator quit working. I put in a claim with AHS and they sent Sears out and determined what was wrong. There are no longer parts available, so they replaced my refrigerator. They did a great job on this one. I had another claim that took a little ironing out, but we finally got it squared away.

A few of the electrical outlets stopped working. So I called American Home Shield to let them know, and they said that Sunbelt will be the one that they would send out. They came out and looked at it. But they couldn't fix it because of the fact that they said I probably needed a new electrical grid and they don't do that because it's not covered by my policy. They could do it, but it would be totally on me.
Overall, American Home Shield is good because this is not the first thing that they fixed for me. The hot water heater had gone out and it was a long drawn-out process. They had to have the company that dries your walls. American Home Shield told me that their suppliers did not have the water heater that I needed. So I told them. "Okay. Well, what if I buy it? Then what?" They said to me, "Okay. If you can find it and buy it, that's fine. We'll reimburse you up to $700." That was good. But the installation for it cost me $1,000. That was quite a bit out of pocket. But at least it was fixed.
American Home Shield will send somebody out to do what has to be done. But one thing that they don't do too well is that they don't keep good records. When they first signed me up, I gave them the exact address of the place and they didn't copy everything down. They didn't put it down the way I told them. So when they would send people to come, the people would always call me back and say, "Well, we don't know where you are." They had the wrong city and they didn't put that it was unit 12, which is a set of mobile home parks. So you have to have all of that information for them to get that address properly. It took me a minute to get that straightened out. Also, it seems that the service doesn't cover what I need to have covered. But they will come out and try to assess the problem.

We have an older AC unit and it had a leak. The first tech put a pump in it and a week later, we were still hot. The second tech did the same thing and it got hot again. They realized that the issue was with the copper things that go on the fan outside. The tech put something and it's been fine ever since. Every time the techs came back, they always put more Freon in. Repairs are very expensive and AHS is a good hedge to have something that covers your major appliances and all the crazy things that can happen.
But I wish they could get people out sooner. It took them a while to get the people to do the job because the AC contractor was so backed up. Other than that, AHS is a good company. They do the right thing.

The benefit of having a home warranty is when something does break down, I'm able to rely on them to send a proper vendor out to do a repair service and to take care of whatever's broken. I had a claim for my gas furnace. Whitney Holdings, LLC was assigned to my claim. Their technician came an hour and 15 minutes after the appointment window. He never even bothered to call saying he was going to be running a little bit late. By the time he came in, he went downstairs, looked at the equipment for about five minutes, and determined everything was working without even doing a thorough check. He got up and left and closed out the work order. Once I saw that occur and the fact that there legitimately was a problem, I'm like, "I'm not going to deal with that kind of unprofessionalism, especially dealing with that kind of a mess."
I made a request to the AHS customer service to switch the vendor and not even bother having Whitney Holdings come through. I also even made the recommendation that they look into considering maybe removing them as a vendor because they have a lot of very bad reviews and complaints on the Better Business Bureau website. I'm surprised that they're even using that company to do business with with their customers. It was completely ridiculous. They got it in the notes.
Customer service was really awesome. Once I voiced my displeasure with Whitney Holdings, they said "You gotta make a new ticket and be charged the $75 repair fee again." But it wasn't my fault that the company was doing shoddy work. Customer service refunded the 75 from them and we were able to start fresh. They got Detroit Heating and Cooling out and everything worked out from there. I was able to get everything I needed fixed properly and with professionalism as well.
Detroit Heating and Cooling technicians came out and they were completely awesome, especially the technician that came out two times because of the issues that were going on. He took his time and was very thorough. He made sure everything was up and running really well once all the parts came in. When they did the first repair, the unit was working great. But then it crapped out again. I called AHS back up and said the technicians needed to be re-dispatched. They realized there was an additional problem that was causing the first issue. They were able to get all that situated. I'm very happy with Detroit Heating and Cooling. I highly recommend them in terms of the service that they do and the excellent customer service that they provide.

The chain broke and the garage door would not open and close. The contractor said that something inside the motor had broken. They said they could fix it but they would have to order the part. But the system was over 20 years old, so the tech recommended I replace everything and explained to me that American Home Shield would not cover that because it could be fixed. But I chose to go ahead and replace everything and they did an excellent job.

My last service call was good. I got my washer fixed in a timely manner and the tech did a great job. I was pleased. But one time, I had my air conditioning fixed and I was double charged. I was charged for air conditioning and heat but the AC was the only thing that needed to be worked on.

American Home Shield is a useful thing to have. Our thermostat wasn't reading correctly so I submitted a claim. The process was easy and then we got info on who the contractor would be. We scheduled the appointment and the guy who came out was really helpful. He took a look at the unit, tested how it was doing, listened to the concerns that we expressed, and replaced the thermostat that wasn't working for us. Now we're in good shape.

I like AHS very much. The plumbers came out recently to fix my sink. They were very friendly. Everything’s been working fine. I have used AHS three times already. Recently, our air conditioner wasn't working. The tech was knowledgeable. He was able to resolve it that day. It was quick. I like knowing that I only have to have a service fee paid in most instances to get the service done. So, it's a bit of peace of mind. Overall, it’s a good experience.

My wife and I went out to a concert on a Monday and around that time, the neighborhood’s landscapers were coming through and they were doing edging and weed whacking. When we got home, the air conditioner was not working. We have an ecobee system and ecobee said that the air conditioner has not been working for about four hours. The house was quite warm. For the rest of the week until Friday, the AC did not work. The amount of troubleshooting I did was limited to just checking the circuit breaker and seeing if something tripped. Then, I made a request to American Home Shield to have somebody come out to look at the AC because it wasn't working.
On that Friday, the technician came out. He was very kind. We spoke briefly. I led him to the air conditioning unit outside. He identified the problem in about a minute and a half which was that the control wire running from the house to the outdoor AC unit had been cut by a weed whacker. I believe this was done by the neighborhood’s landscapers. He asked me to turn off the system. I did. There's a light switch we use to turn off the whole HVAC system entirely. He went about stripping the cable and tying the severed ends of the cable together correctly. We turned it back on to test and the test confirmed that it worked. He went out to his truck and got some electrical caps to cover the joint cable. It's one cable with two wires. He fixed the wire and the cable, and it's been working ever since then.
I paid the $75 to have AHS send somebody out. I used their website. It wasn't difficult. Other than their website just being somewhat outdated, it was fine. I did get a call a few days later from American Home Shield. They said that my claim was denied for some reason, which was odd because the repair had already occurred. They seemed to think that additional work was needed, but the system has been working since then. So, there was extra confusion. Other than that, so far, AHS has been a good deal for me as a relatively new homeowner. All of the technicians that have been sent out on their behalf have been willing to talk to me about what they were doing, and sort of helped me educate myself about what kinds of repairs they were doing.

Able Heating and A/C replaced the chip in the fridge. They did a great job. Kumar was an amazing technician. I told a friend American Home Shield’s great because they came through when I needed them. The only thing is the phone calling app is so finicky. The automated AI does not work. It'll keep asking you the same question ‘cause it doesn't understand. But once you get to a person, they're super helpful.

The guy from United Air Temp was superb. He knew what he was doing. He knew where he had to go. If I have my way with American Home Shield, I'd rather have United Air Temp come out. They've been very good. Every time they send people here, they're very professional. With my recent issue, it was on a weekend. The supervisor himself came out and get it fixed.
I've been with American Home Shield for a very long time and I've not had any bad experiences with them. I've had a couple of instances with a couple of the contractors they sent out that I wasn't thrilled about. But the good thing was American Home Shield showed up and rectified the whole thing. For most cases, I go online and do my request, and so far, I haven't had any concerns with them yet. I'll advise anybody who needs a home warranty to get into AHS. Every time I call, I get a quick response and it's been great.

Ament’s was amazing. The gentleman that came out explained how the process was. I chose to do an upgrade, so I got the cash reimbursement. When I originally reported my leaking hot water heater, American Home Shield sent the referral to a contractor in Chico. That contractor canceled but nobody bothered to tell me. So that was an issue and now I have secondary damage that I have to address. But everything else has been great. So far, American Home Shield has been pretty awesome.

AHS has been really good to us. Our air conditioning went out and the techs came right out and fixed it. However, their call center is outsourced and that makes it a little bit difficult. But they've come right out every time we've had any problems.

Our AC was not starting. We called American Home Shield and technicians were out in 24 hours. They were very good and our AC is working fine now. Having a home warranty provides a lot of comfort and peace. American Home Shield is very efficient and prompt. But there are a lot of things that are sometimes not covered that we don't know about until the actual thing happens and there are a lot of out-of-pocket costs. We've had that in the past where we did not know that we have to pay for all these things and we ended up not getting the work done. I wish there were more things covered that are mentioned.

I've been having issues with the bathtub not draining and then the garbage disposal sounded it was dying. The technician had come out the week prior because I was having a water heater issue, so I knew he was coming out. After my first experience with him, that person was fine. But after he left my house this last time, he mistakenly sent me an inappropriate message, which I haven't been able to figure out what to do because he has to come back out and replace something and I don't want it not to get replaced. So I'm kind of between a rock and a hard place at this point. I haven't reached out to American Home Shield directly because I don't know what to do or how to go about it. The entire thing is very uncomfortable. So when the plumber comes back out to switch out the garbage disposal, I need to have someone at my house with me because I do not feel comfortable being alone in my house.

This is the first time we used American Home Shield and it was absolutely wonderful. They sent Sunbelt for some plumbing and then electrical work. When the plumber couldn't fix it, he said it was electrical. Then he took care of it. Home Shield then notified me, “This person's coming out.” That was a plus. They were very knowledgeable and professional.

When I called for a claim, I saw a leak from my tank. But when the repair guy got there, he checked it out and it was not leaking. But he did a superb job. So, I told him to try to change out something in there, and he did. He put the flapper in there because it's been in there for some years, and he did fine.

I did an AC claim online to American Home Shield, and it was very easy. However, since I have two AC units, there was no way for me to put down two AC units. Both of them were having issues but I could not figure out a way to put in the claim for both AC units. So, I know I had to make a phone call. I told the lady that helped me that it was both units that were having issues. So, it was very easy to navigate. I just couldn't find a way to put two AC units as opposed to one.
As far as the contractors, nobody was picking up when I called the phone number that AHS gave me. It went straight to voicemail, and I guess their voicemail was full and I couldn't leave any voicemails. So, I had to call AHS to reach out to them to contact me and they were pretty receptive after that. They called me the same day and they arrived at my house the following day.

I recently called American Home Shield for a repair and they said it wasn't covered because it wasn't per code and that it wasn't going to be worked on by the tech. I bought the house three years ago and I didn't make these changes. Before people sign warranties, a person from the company should come out and go over that home to see if there are things that are not under code and they won't be able to cover unless actions are taken. And move on from there. I do things correctly. I can't help who the previous owners were. But just when I get sold on a home warranty, I get promised that if this appliance breaks down, then they'll replace it or fix it. Then, when we call, it's not covered. They should have told me this before I did this contract with them. There's a lot of stuff that's not put out there while you're doing the contract with home warranty companies like American Home Shield.
Money Saver Plumbing, the contractor, came out right away but they weren't punctual. I had to leave work early because they said they were gonna be at my house a certain time. And I told them I couldn’t be in my house at this time because I have work. They asked if I could be a little bit earlier. I told them I would be home. And I was home but they weren't in my house and I had to wait. I could've stayed at work longer. As soon as the techs walked in, they looked at the washer and said that AHS was not going to approve the job. I asked why I was paying $125 for them to come out here for five minutes and tell me they are not gonna do the job.
I called American Home Shield and they said the contractor shouldn't have told me that. They were not the claim adjuster and they don't approve jobs. I told AHSI just paid $125 for the contractor to come out here and tell me that they weren't gonna do a job. I was very disappointed. Maybe American Home Shield can have people call in through Zoom and show them the area and say what’s covered or not covered. Or this is what's missing and they’ll send a tech. Or that they can work on that and they’ll send a tech. I don't make $125 in two hours. It's frustrating. They sell you something and don't tell you everything. Then when you need what they sold you on, they don't give it to you.

The fan of our AC wasn't running correctly. It was making a noise. It was getting warmer in the house so, I called AHS. The rep was professional, courteous and understanding. I had American Home Shield for 17 years on my rental property. I sold my rental property in February of this year. And I signed up with AHS a month later for this house. We moved into this new house and we replaced something with our heater. We replaced the garbage disposal. I was gonna get a homeowners warranty. This house is only six years old. And thank God we did.
I started the process in May because my water dispenser wasn't dispensing. And the contractor didn't come out. They made me take a picture. I said, “Okay. I'll put my cup under here. No water's coming out. What do you wanna take a picture of?” And he said, “Okay. We’ll order a new line.” I called back the next day. They said it would take a week. I said, “No, there's another problem here because things are freezing up in one of my drawers. So I think the water line is fine. I think there's a temperature problem in my refrigerator and it's freezing the line.” Because I would put something in a part of my refrigerator in a drawer, and it froze.
They came out, looked at it, and said, “It's going to need this temperature control thing and we're going to have to order these parts." They did that. But that didn't fix it. And they did something else. They came out three different times, welded stuff, replaced parts. At that point, I had thrown everything out of my freezer twice because it has thawed. And I've thrown everything out of my refrigerator twice because everything in there had frozen.
I just about had it. And this guy was going to leave and my husband said, “You're just gonna leave without our fridge fixed?” He said, “Yep. I don't know what to tell you.” Now, I kept getting water in my drawer, and because of the waterline had frozen, the water tank had frozen and cracked. I told him that. So, he knew what to do. He knew he had to order a new water tank. That's all he had to do. He left here, went back and told the owner of the company that we were rude to him and that we weren't letting him leave until we fixed our fridge. That wasn't the case. We just asked him, “Why are you leaving if you're not going to fix our fridge?” So they chose to discontinue servicing us. AHS said they had to get ahold of a GE person, so in the meantime, we're not running water through our line so we're going through tons of bottled water. That was another three weeks before the GE person could come out here.
I said, “Dude, I can tell you what's wrong. You just need to order the water tank.” But he came out here and undid everything, saw the cracks in the water tank. And it took another two or three weeks to get it so we just got our fridge fixed three months later. Thank God we only paid one deductible, and they got me a GE person.” But that first vendor, I would not use them.
Our AC didn't work. That became a nightmare. The people came out and we tried to fix it. It broke on a Saturday when it would be 100 degrees. My husband was driving through the neighborhood and saw an AC repair people and they brought him here. I said, “We can't do that. We actually have homeowners warranty. We have to call and we use their preferred vendor.” This vendor told us what it was, told us it was a $1,300 part and they could order it for us. I said, “Hold on. Timeout. I have to use my homeowners warranty.
AHS sent a guy out with a training. They were both young guys. I heard them on the side of the house and they were trying to Google the problem. He said, “What you need is Freon.” AHS paid $10 a pound, and it's $100 a pound and I needed 4.7 pounds. It was $496 out of pocket. I said, “Wait. This is not what this other repair facility said. They said it had nothing to do with Freon, that it's a part. But you're gonna make me pay out of pocket this $500 before…” And he said, “What I'll do is I'll put nitrogen in there. We're gonna go do another job. We're going to come back. And if it leaks or doesn't leak, whatever, this is gonna be the determining factor.”
So, he determined at 5:30 at night when he came back that it needed Freon. Within an hour, my AC was not blowing cold. He left. I called and said, “This is not working out. I didn't think it was a Freon. It's just part ‘cause of this other company told me.” They said, “We won't go back out and fix it. We have technicians out with COVID. We don't have time to fix your problems.” It was because they didn't know what was the problem. I wish we called the first place and asked what was the part it needed.
Nonetheless, I got permission to call out our original vendors. AHS had two backups. Both of them said they were overwhelmed with AC problems. They couldn't take us on. I got verbal permission to go through an outside vendor. We're gonna get the vendor that we had here on Saturday. They know what the deal is. We already paid them diagnostic of $70 for coming over on a Saturday. They put the $1,300 parts. Everything was fixed.
I still tried to fight, which I have been so buried and swamped with work, and my husband having surgery, that I haven't gone back to go fight for my $500. Because they misdiagnosed the problem. I got a refund check of the $1,300 from AHS. Did not get the diagnostic for my original people. I did not get $500 out of Freon. I was told by AHS that was my problem. I could go back and fight. I need to go back to the people who fixed the $1,300 parts and ask them to put something in writing on the dates that it did not need Freon, and go back to them and tell them they misdiagnosed, and try to get $500 back, so I’m out $500.
That’s my only two claims with AHS, and so far they've been a nightmare. I love talking to them. But when I call in and I get the Philippines, “Thank you, ma'am. Let me see what I can do, ma’am.” And they would not comprehend anything I say. I would escalate and yell, and I could not get my blood pressure up when I call in. But every time I do, I'm beyond frustrated. I finally got to someone in the States who told me, “Sorry about your issues. Let me see if I can get some of your monthly expenses waived.”
At this point, I'm just glad both my things are fixed. But that woman promised me the world but never would reply to an email and I couldn't have her phone number. I sent her my claim, thinking she would process it for me. She never did. She never even said, “Kelley, I'm sorry. I'm not the contact for you. You need to contact this division or you need to email this claim.” So, my claim just sat there for three or four weeks. That frustrated me.
I need to have another clamp claim and feel good about a vendor that AHS will recommend. I know it's a good company. I just think they have some flaws in their vendors and their call service. If I'm going to recommend AHS to someone, I'm going to tell them about my experience. I'm going to tell them how good AHS was and how bad the vendors are in Colorado.

The garage door opener was old, the door wouldn't open, and it was jumping. So, I put in a work request on Saturday, then the gentleman came out on Tuesday to look at it. He said he could replace it, but he had to order parts. So, he ordered parts on Tuesday, and he was there on that following Friday. He put everything in and within two hours, the job was done. Since then, the performance of the garage door has been beautiful.

It's convenient to have American Home Shield when stuff breaks. But within the past few years, it's gone downhill with some of the vendors they have. My dishwasher has been broken since July. The same vendor had been ordering parts, but that was not it. They ordered another part, but it was broken. They switched technicians too. One technician said I needed a new motor. They sent out a different technician who said it was not the motor, it was something else. He took the new motor back.
The previous technician came back and said it was the motor. Then, the other technician came back and said, "It is definitely the motor." He went and did something under my sink. He forgot to put the drain plug back to the drain. I wanted to go do dishes and it flooded my kitchen. That was when Nussbaumer Plumbing was called. The guy from Nussbaumer and I were trying to figure out why they were there. I told him, "You were there within the past 30 days to remove a drain plug for my garbage disposal." The vendor who messed up the drain wasn't able to get somebody over to my house. It was gonna be a week.

American Home Shield saves me a lot. The service is convenient and quick. They get back to me right away. I've done claims for HVAC and electrical and the process was super easy. I did everything online then they notified me in less than 24 hours. The technicians were both professional and polite.

American Home Shield is easy to deal with. When our ice maker stopped working, the contractor that came out was very helpful. They weren't sure what was wrong and had come out a few times. They changed numerous parts then it finally started working.

They should lower their fee. Every time I call them, it's $100 plus whatever the cost of the contract is. Other than that, AHS is doing okay. Recently, I had plumbing issues and the techs were here a day after I put in a request and they took care of everything. Our toilet in the guest room was continuously running and the plumber replaced a couple of gaskets.

I had a contractor come out for the garage doors. They put some bolts on to reattach and then the tech ended up charging me $400 to redo all the wheels and maintenance to the track. The tech was nice but he was very pushy to get me to buy more. But they've been out two more times, so I've paid a total of $300 in my deductible. I should have just bought a new garage door at this point with how much money I've spent because I’ve spent over $1,000 between what the tech charged me for and my deductible.
When you try to get American Home Shield on the phone, it’s next to impossible. I complained about Diamond Garage with my first interaction, and they tried to charge me when they came out again for another $400. I'm not very satisfied with American Home Shield because I had someone come out recently for a leak in my ceiling and he didn't do anything. He was a very nice guy, but he said, “I think it's your AC line.” Then he said he was gonna follow up but he never did. That was another $100 out of my pocket with no resolution.

We hate American Home Shield’s service. We had multiple repairs, and we had a battle with whether or not it was covered. The coverage wasn’t clear. They should have had a little broader interpretation that was more homeowner friendly. The contractor, Aladdin’s Plumbing was professional and tried to help us. They understood what was going on and they thought it should be covered to a certain percentage. They were surprised too that we were getting denied coverage. But they don’t set the policy, AHS does.
When we moved in here, we initially had problems with the garage door sticking. AHS said the garage door wasn't covered. We had a problem with a gas leak as well as with our spa heater and AHS said both weren't covered. Then we had a problem with our plumbing. The plumbers made a repair and it didn't take, and they said it was covered to a certain percentage. The plumbers came back and fixed the problem. Then, we got a letter saying none of the plumbing was covered. So, this company has not helped us in any way. It has been a complete waste of money and energy and emotion. They have too many exceptions for things around the house and definitions of what's inside and what's outside. For us, it's all part of the home. If you’re going to do a homeowner's policy, you should cover everything that's on and attached to the home.

My recent claim with AHS was for the ice maker. Everything went fine. GE came out within a couple of days. We had to wait for some parts to come in. They scheduled me for an appointment. They fixed it. The techs were very pleasant. It's easy to put a claim in and get things done with AHS. However, some of the vendors that they use, that if you are using a warranty company like AHS, they won't come out when you have a true emergency. They will make you wait to service you like a regular appointment. For example, I had my toilet backed up, and both my toilets were stopped up and I had no toilet. It was on a Friday night. They put the claim in and said no. They told me if it was a regular complaint, they would have been out there that same day. But because it was a warranty, they wouldn't see me until Monday or Tuesday. I ended up having to call Roto-Rooter and pay their price.

The air conditioning was giving trouble. It was not turning off on its own. It was also a combination of issues with the air conditioning. But the contractor was able to get it completed. I fully appreciated that. The young man that came out was extremely knowledgeable with what he had to do. It was great service and interaction. Everything is operating very well. I really liked American Home Shield's full coverage. There were some initial coverages that are normal for other people to do, but American Home Shield covered roofing and additional appliances and that won me over.

Water was showing on the flooring and we initially called a plumber, thinking that it was a pipe. But when we started digging a little bit more, we discovered it was the AC. It was great to know that the process was simple. We had to cancel to cancel the plumber and schedule the AC person. The whole process was easy, which makes things a little less stressful for the homeowner.
The technician came two days later. He did what he needed to do. He was not rude nor disrespectful at any time. He was punctual. But he didn't go the extra mile with cleaning. I had to open up everything again because he left the wet towels behind rather than getting them out. I didn't expect him to wash them but he should have gotten them out before he sealed the closet or the area. The technician was not necessarily the one that I would recommend. Also, when you're talking about water, neither the plumber nor the AC repair person was available within 24 hours, much less sooner than that.

AHS required us to go to our investment property where we don't live and do a video call in order to get any service. It was really inconvenient for us. I also didn't like how it took a long time to get techs out. Other than that, we've had no issues with their contractors.

American Home Shield has been doing pretty well and I like them. Whenever you need them, all you do is call and they’ll make the appointment for somebody to come out. When service people come out, they assess the issue then they fix it. I've had some real good service people some that could have been better. Other than that, everything seems to be smooth riding.

American Home Shield always comes to your rescue right away. They never delay anything. They're right on the ball. I'm happy with them. Recently, my furnace needed a new blower motor. A guy came out from Budget HVAC, and in no time, he ordered the part. Then he came back a couple days later when he got the part and fixed my furnace.

The refrigerator needed repair and the contractor came and said it was a compressor, and they had to order the parts. But they didn't do the installation. They had to call another company so Sears came out and said it was not the compressor. It was just a fan and the tech would have to order the parts. All of these involved no refrigeration for three weeks. Sears came out, put in the fan and said it was all done. It worked and they left. Everybody was good. It’s just the first company that came out didn't know what they were doing and they misdiagnosed.
All the reps from American Home Shield have been very helpful. But I had repairs done on a washing machine and the techs came somewhere between 7 to 10 times. They kept replacing parts and they reported that it was a lemon. But AHS wouldn't honor it. They would not give me my machine nor repair it. The repairs didn't work. I got to have a washer and dryer, so I just bought new ones. They kept telling me it was repaired, and I kept telling them it was not working. In the investigation, everybody who bought that particular washing machine had the same issue and Whirlpool was aware. That was the only time I had a horrible experience with AHS. You have to come out 10 times for a repair of the same item, you've got to know. And the repairman who was the same one said that he put in the report. AHS just didn’t honor it. But it’s all good.
My daughter came out of American Home Shield and got somebody else. I asked her if she was crazy and told her to get back in. A friend of mine is building a new house and I told her all of mine are covered by American Home Shield. Everything she has is automatically going to be covered to start with but once her insurances run out, I'll tell her to get American Home Shield. I didn’t like any of the others.

Our AC went out Monday and we contacted American Home Shield right away. They say they couldn't get anybody else here until Friday. We want it because it was hot. We needed to see if the contractor could make it sooner. But it was going to be three or four days. My daughter called American Home Shield back and they were very helpful. She asked if there was somebody else. American Home Shield contacted several workers that do work for them. They gave her another number and the contractor was able to come the following day or two days later. They said they had to order a part. They found it and we didn't have to go too long without it. They were able to come back the next day. The technicians were really quick and very professional.

We own several apartments or condos. One of the tenants who is an elderly lady with a very sick husband called me and said the AC went out and was not working. So, I called American Home Shield who said, “Please pay the $75 fee.” And they sent a company. They came and checked. And they said there was a part that was hard to access and the warranty company would not cover it. And the part was supposed to be replaced would cost me $700. So, I told them, “I need a second opinion.”
So, since the couple was uncomfortable, and it was extremely hot a couple of months ago in LA, I called another technician who was recommended to me to go and check it out. He said their finding was wrong. They never went up to check the system of the roof. The Freon was a little low. And the fan that cools the compressor malfunctioned. So, he replaced it for me. I paid $500. He got it fixed. It’s working fine. Had nothing to do with the other part that the first contractor had claimed it was not working. That part in the AC system works perfectly. And their analysis was either wrong or they were a bunch of thieves trying to make some money. If I went with that company that AHS recommended, that would have cost me 650. And they would say, “Oh, that wasn't the cause.” I would have had to pay 1,500 to 2,000 to get that AC fixed.
I went back to AHS. I said, “You need to reimburse me for the amount that I paid to this other technician since your other technician was not able to detect and fix the problem.” They refused after a couple of times. So, they didn't pay me for that claim. And I was very upset. I'm still with AHS, but I was very unhappy about that claim. I’ll shop around for other warranty companies.

I usually make a phone call when I make a claim to American Home Shield and it seems easy. In a day or so, you usually hear from a contractor. So, it works well. My upstairs air conditioning unit was not cooling but the expense of refrigerant was not conducive for me to get the repair done because I had to pay for the refrigerant, which was over $1,100. The coverage only allows $10 per pound. So, I had to wait until I got the money to pay for the refrigerant and by the time I had the money, I ended up having to put in a new request and pay another $100 deductible. The refrigerant issue is an issue with the world and it has gone out the roof all over the place. Even I sell refrigerant in my company and it's crazy how expensive it got. So, it's not like that was an American Home Shield issue.

The freezer side was freezing, but the refrigerator side wouldn't get cool at all. A repairman came out, diagnosed the problem, and sent the information back to American Home Shield. They realized that it wasn't worth fixing. They replaced it.

AHS increases the deductible yearly, all the way from $50 to now $99 and some change a month, but the service doesn't improve. We used them recently because our garage door was stuck in the down position. Someone came out, diagnosed the problem, and said that American Home Shield doesn't cover the wheels on the lift of the door. So, AHS charges you this deductible, then there's a fine print in the contract of what's not covered and majority of what people come out to fix is in that fine print. For this claim, we had to pay $100 deductible for the company to come out, then we paid them an additional $150 to fix the problem But I liked the service that the people provided. They only can provide what they can provide but they fixed the problem.

I got a couple of things happen recently, and so far, the people that came to do the repairs have been fine. I had a leak under my sink, and the plumbing company repaired that. They came very promptly and fixed it in just a minute. It was wonderful. Another one of the things that happened was my air conditioner got a hole in the pipe and the Freon leaked out. I have not finished that claim yet, but it was a little disappointing because American Home Shield doesn't cover the Freon. That's been an expensive problem. Overall though, I've been pleased with American Home Shield. We bought a home that was about 15 years old, so it was definitely the right thing to do to get the coverage. That's proven to be a very wise decision on my part.

The tech who came for the AC that wasn't blowing cold air was good. They had to send out someone else because she wasn't able to help me that day. But she was very professional and polite. The second person that came out the next day was able to resolve the problem.

A filter was connected to the furnace and the contractor said it wasn’t working. They didn't thoroughly do their job and just took me to the cleaners with my $100 that I paid for the deductible. They turned around and blamed it on the plumbers. I had the plumbers come out and they said it was the heating and cooling. They did the same thing. So, I paid $100 for a heating and cooling, and $100 for the plumber, and both of them did not solve anything. But the last guys I had come out for the plumbing was excellent. Two guys were sent out that had 19 years of experience. I was amazed. They did a good, thorough job. They said something about a line that was frozen and they took care of that on the inside as well as the outside because there was a problem with it leaking. They did a wonderful job.
I understand things have gone up in society and I'm an educated individual but the copay is extremely high. I have a friend that has American Home Shield and she pays 60. Maybe she has a different policy but paying $100 every time somebody comes out is a bit excessive. I'm already paying with 55.12 a month. And then somebody comes and I gotta pay $100 deductible. I'm not sure what my money is paying for. Especially if I get a service that's not a service. Also, it’s very frustrating that every time I call American Home Shield, there's a language barrier. I have to talk louder. I have to repeat myself over and over again. I don't like the way the phone system is structured. Even when I try to pay my bill, I have to go through changes because it doesn't let you go directly to pay your bill. You can't pay your bill a few days early. You have to pay it on that exact day and that's not how I pay my bills.

The toilet was continuously running. The Shining Plumbing Knights got back to me very quickly and set up an appointment. They came out and we thought it was done but the following day, I noticed it was still going a tiny bit. I called them back, they scheduled to come back out, and they fixed it. It's been perfect since. The warranty has been fairly good, but there are parts they don't cover. I had my water heater done and they had to replace it. The way it's advertised, I thought I was only going to be out the service call but then there was a whole bunch of things they don't cover. I ended up paying 1,200 bucks more for the uncovered things. But other than that, it's been reassuring knowing that the warranty is there.

My garage door opener is covered by AHS but the garage door is not. The electronic that connected to the remote was not working. I tried that on three different remotes, so I knew that there was something wrong. United Garage Doors came out. He said, “First of all, even though it is part of the covered part, it's not covered because of the condition. This occurred because of the weight on the door, which was out of balance.” It didn't make sense because I had another company put a long bar for stabilizing the door itself over six months ago and everything was working fine. So that gave me a red flag to say this guy either wanted to mislead or he didn't know what he was doing. Turned out that he wanted to repair with out of pocket, about $800 for me to pay them to replace the springs on the garage door, and then replace the electronics, which would be covered.
That was when I called AHS and asked for a second opinion. With no hesitation, the second guy from Sam's Garage Doors looked at it and said, “Yeah, your springs are out of balance, but that's not a big deal.” He replaced that electronics and got the remote working. I paid him out of pocket. But it took him only five minutes to adjust the springs. There was no need to replace the springs. He was awesome.

My AC went out. I put in a ticket claim with AHS. It took the techs a week to get out. But AHS tried other companies to see if they could expedite it faster. But apparently, no one had availability prior to Air Pro Master. The AC has been working great now. AHS is worth it to have, but you need to stay on top of the people because they will not necessarily call you back. You have to follow up. Also, everybody sounds like they are in a different country, so there were some language barriers at times.

We had a water tank claim. It needed a part and the repair guy fixed it right away. Everything's been great with American Home Shield and it’s great too to have a company where you just pay per month and then have a deductible and you are able to get repairs done.

Someone came out and couldn't fix my washing machine. He said somebody else was gonna have to come out. Another person came out and he worked on the washing machine. He ordered parts then put the parts in. He said, “Ma’am, this is not gonna work, your appliance.” In this life we go on through the day, you can't help what's going on. American Home Shield sent a new washer but it was broken. The guys saw it. I declined it and sent it back. American Home Shield will send me a new one and that's fine. It is just the time thing. Every time you call, they say, "Okay. We're doing this. We're doing that.” But nothing has been done. Other than that, I would highly recommend this home warranty.

I used American Home Shield a couple of times. They scheduled a person and everything worked well. I did a claim two times for my refrigerator. The guy that came was very helpful and took care of the issue. American Home Shield so far has been something that you know that you can budget better that way. You know that you're going to spend this money on that. But eventually, things will break and the home warranty will cover that.

My HVAC system was leaking water inside the house and I had a stopped-up drain in the bathroom. The techs were professional and they took care of the issues. But I had to call the tech who fixed the AC because a couple of weeks after he left, the system did the same thing again. He had to come back and replace the pipe instead of just unclogging it. I'm pleased with American Home Shield. With them, there are expenses that I wouldn’t have to pay out of pocket.

The claim submission is pretty great. The only thing that I seem to have trouble with when calling American Home Shield is the scheduling. But other than that, it's been really good. It is very useful, especially if you're not from the area and you don't know who to contact and who's reliable. When the home warranty came with the house that I bought, I was really happy to be able to call a service that they backed up. If I wasn’t happy with whoever came out to do a service, they sent somebody else. So for that reason, we wound up keeping it. It is much better than a guessing game of trying to pick out a service provider.

Once AHS approved the claim for my AC unit, the repair was done within a couple of days. But the processing took a very long time. The claim was reported on August 8 and it was finished after a month.

We've had American Home Shield on three houses now. If something breaks down and they can't fix it, it gets replaced. Instead of it costing me $7,000 out of pocket, it will only cost me the original service charge plus my yearly fee to have the warranty. Their technicians have always been friendly, courteous, and respectful of our home.

The washer was deemed to cost more to repair. So, American Home Shield went ahead and replaced it. For the most part, the process was pretty easy and straightforward. I went to a website, I had options for up to the amount there that they approved to pay, and the options were good. It was equivalent. They got good machines. We ended up picking the GE and there was no cost out of pocket. Overall, AHS has always been pretty straightforward. They repaired and replaced items since I've had the service.

We clean our filters all the time and we have preventative maintenance done on our unit. But we came home one day, and it wasn't working. The capacitor had blown. It happened on a Saturday night, and I put in the claim. I called the contractor on Monday, and the next available appointment they could come out was Wednesday. So they came on Wednesday and they fixed it. They were phenomenal. The technician did an awesome job. He was very nice. He was quick and to the point. He explained what the problem was and reassured me he could fix it right away, and he did. Overall, American Home Shield helps you when you need it most. Home repairs are super expensive. I was thinking the worst with my AC, and it only cost $100 to fix it.

We had problems with our ice maker. It took several days to get the techs to come. It went fine once they got here. They took a few trips 'til they finally figured out what was wrong, and then they ordered some control board to go in it. AHS is really difficult to do business with. They look for reasons not to have liabilities and I'm not terribly happy with them. They should quit being so militant with their denials.

American Home Shield has been great. I like the convenience of being able to submit the claim online and to be able to have a contractor immediately assigned to take care of that issue. Our dishwasher wouldn't drain. So, I called American Home Shield up. We've had Tristate come out to repair our laundry too. So, I knew who they were. It was a little difficult getting them on the schedule. I had to call American Home Shield and it was almost four days and I was tired of waiting around. A dishwasher is really important in the household. I didn't really want to keep washing by hand. I called Tristate and I couldn't leave any messages. So, I called American Home Shield and said, "I can't get them on the phone. I don't know what to do. Can you assign me someone else?" They said, "Well, since you did it online, I can't cancel your contractor." I said, "Okay. Well, can I?" He said, "Yes. You have to go onto the website." I said, "Okay. Well, can you walk me through it?" He told me that he couldn't. He didn't know the steps to cancel it.
I said, "You should know your own company." He was like, "Well, we see different things than you do." I said, "Well, that may be true, but I'm sure you have -- in training, you have been taught, 'Okay, this is what your customer is going to be seeing. This is what you say.'' So, the man was real standoffish with me. He's like, "Okay. Well, I'll send them an email to try to set up an appointment." I said, "Okay. Well, how long am I supposed to wait?" He's like, "Well, you can always cancel it." I said, "I can't cancel it. There's no way." Long story short, we got on the schedule, they came, they looked at my dishwasher, he ordered a part for it, and then came maybe about five days later to install it, and he was in and out. Everything works perfectly. So, it was only that little snafu about scheduling.

My breakers had jumped off and May Heating and Air, the contractor, came. I hated to have to pay them 125 just to flip the switch. Still, with American Home Shield, if something major breaks, I’d have the money to fix it or buy a new one. I wish though we could call somebody closer to the home. These last ones were way off. But they came and didn't say a word. They were very nice.

Our garage was making a noise. The techs came out the next day and fixed it when they were here. Everything’s fine now. Whenever we have a problem, we get it taken care of right away through AHS. The dishwasher wasn't spinning correctly. The tech that came out was great. He was gonna order a part, but it was old that he couldn't order it. So he recommended replacing the dishwasher. I called American Home Shield after he left, and we went over my options. I went with the Lowe's gift card option. But recently, I had another claim for a stoppage, and American Home Shield denied the claim for a reason that I don't particularly agree with.

I had an issue with an appliance and the contractor couldn’t repair it so American Home Shield eventually offered to replace it. The tech has been here a couple of times and seems to be knowledgeable. He came out and looked at the piece that he put in and did a videotape. The process took less than a week. It would be nice to have a vendor of choice and if you could do multiple claims in sets. I gotta put individual claims when my washer and dryer was out, which was 125 bucks a piece, whereas it's usually done in a set. On top of that, you’re paying 65 bucks a month now just to maintain the warranty that you seldom use. It gets kind of expensive and I'm contemplating canceling AHS.

It has taken over two months that we're living out of a cooler. It's frustrating that everything's taking so long and that American Home Shield doesn't cover anything else other than the repairs. They don't cover loss of groceries either. I've spent $300 on ice. Other than that, AHS has saved us money. It paid for itself because the repairs were going to be so expensive on the brand of compressor and replacing that.

When I had the regular minimum service with American Home Shield, it didn't help very much because I still had to pay out of pocket for nearly everything I called in for. I called in for the HVAC when it wasn't blowing cold air. I had to pay out of pocket for that. I called for a leak on my kitchen sink, and I had to pay out of pocket for that because it doesn't cover the drain. So, it was kind of negative until I upgraded to the premium service, which wasn't that much more expensive, and it's worth it. So now, I'm a bit happier with their service. I had put in a service request for our oven. They fixed that, and then they recommended the true root cause solution, and now there's a follow-up request that they took care of on their end and there's going to be an electrician coming in. So, it's been pretty good. The technicians that have come out were quick, friendly, prompt, and they arrive on time.

So far, I’ve really liked American Home Shield. They were proactive and told me what was part of my package that wasn't going to cause a claim. I just moved into the new house, and they said that people like to change their locks. That was nice that they brought that to my attention. I had my house rekeyed, and I didn't have to do anything for it. American Home Shield has also been following up with me, so it's been great.

We were having our lights, every time the AC would come on, blink. I requested service and American Home Shield sent somebody out. The tech replaced a part. I liked the contractor's professionalism and quality of service. They told me what was wrong and I put my husband on the phone because he knows more about this stuff. We have outdoor lights that are photosensitive. For some reason, ours wasn't working and it was a requirement for our HOA to have it working. Ours was staying on 24 hours a day and it was only supposed to come on at night. A tech was out there within a day or two and fixed it. He put in a new sensor. He was great. I’m getting what I paid for with American Home Shield. It’s not extraordinarily special but it’s pretty much exactly what you get in your contract. This home warranty gives a little bit of assurance as far as not having to track down repair people and things like that. They do a lot of that, which saves a significant amount of time. There were some instances where they were just unbelievable and other ones that were frustrating. But we were able to work through it.

The tech came and did a good job. He assessed the issue with the microwave and stated that the board had gone bad. He had to get a part to replace it, then I got a response in a couple of days stating that the part is no longer available. So, I had to get a new microwave. American Home Shield sent me an email with options to pick various ones. I picked one, scheduled delivery, then delivery came in a couple of days. It was really quick, and the guy who came in and put it in was very professional. This was my first time using American Home Shield for anything that was broken, and it worked out pretty well.

We haven't had any issues with American Home Shield. We recently had a claim where we needed a new motor and a motherboard. We had to wait three weeks for the parts to come in, but they had to be ordered. It's fixed and all is great. The gentleman that came was great. He also came back when the parts came in, and he was proficient and quick and did a good job. It's been a good decision to go with AHS.

This home has a dual AC system in it, and the one in the attic was out. The tech got up there, diagnosed it and then he fixed it within 40 minutes. American Home Shield kept their word and fixed my problem.

I'm not liking American Home Shield. The only thing I happen to have problems with is my air conditioner and if they can replace the part, there's no problem, and I do that for $100. But if it has something to do with Freon or cleaning, they will charge me fully. The customer service is not that bad, but they still can't do much for you. I really thought it would save me money on my air conditioner because I have two units, but it is really terrible. But the young man that came out for the air conditioner was very thorough.

I needed a new garbage disposal. The AHS rep was really professional and the contractor was on time. They completed the work and replaced my old disposal with a new InSinkErator one which was the same one I had. In the past, I've had problems with contractors that AHS sent who weren't very good but this last claim was great.

The first time I turned the heater on in the winter, it came on. But then the next day, during the daytime, it warmed up outside. So I didn't need the heat on. Matter of fact, I had to turn it to cool because it got too warm in the house. So then the second night, I went to turn it to heat but it wouldn't turn on. I called American Home Shield and I got a pretty prompt response. The contractor came out the next day. As soon as the tech got there, I was explaining to him what happened and I flipped the switch to heat and the heater turned on. He explained to me that this sometimes happens in the beginning of the season when you're turning it on. But he did go up there and he checked everything out and said it was fine. So I was comforted with that. A different HVAC company came out when I had an issue with the AC unit, and the contractors all seem to do a good job.

All the servicemen have had integrity and were very nice. They were very thorough. Recently, something was wrong with my toilet. The tech had to take it apart and replace everything. He showed me the parts and that they needed to be replaced. I was so amazed because he lifted the toilet all by himself. He did good work. Also, a tech did the refrigerator and the dishwasher. He had to come back because it went out again and the issue happened to be another part. But he has it working.

The heat was not switching over. There was something you have to adjust so that the heat is supposed to click on. American Home Shield is great. I went online and made my payment. In the next 24 hours, they were reaching out to me. They got me connected with a service company. The company called me and told me to set up the time. Everything was efficient and quick. It was incredible. The techs came on time and they took out the filter. They said it looked like it might have been there for two to three years. They ran a test and the unit started working. It’s been working ever since.

Where we are and what we’re doing, American Home Shield is worth it. I consider having them as advanced payment for when our air conditioner goes out. Recently, the microwave kept blowing the circuit breakers so I got ahold of them. Something Great Solutions came out, replaced a door part, and got us up and going. It was super quick.

American Home Shield never gives me any hassle. I pay my money. They send service. If they need to replace something, they do it. I love them. They're awesome. With AHS, I have no stress and no worries. I just call them up or create a ticket online. They respond quickly. The technicians are out here. If they say they're gonna replace something, they come back within a reasonable amount of time and they do it.

The gentleman that lived here apparently never used the dishwasher. So the first few times I tried to use it, it wasn't cleaning anything. I called in and American Home Shield told me several things to try and it didn't fix it. When my appointment was initially scheduled, I called on a Monday and a technician was supposed to come out on Friday. I waited here all day long Friday. He never showed up. So, I called AHS. They told me which company it was.
I called them and they never got the orders from AHS to come out. So, there was a miscommunication there, but they put me in for the next Monday, so that was right off the bat. When I called AHS back, they were honest and said, they put it in but somehow it never got sent out. The contractor came out and the whole piece was broken. The tech said he knew initially what it was. He ordered it and it came in the next week. He came back that following Monday and fixed it. In and out of here in less than 30 minutes. He was great.

The plumber called me asking if they could come early. They came in and completed the work. I'd refer others to American Home Shield.

Our microwave was malfunctioning. We called American Home Shield and requested a service technician come out and review it. The service technician was in touch with us by phone and then the service technician requested. He told us that he would be talking to GE. We went on to the computer and selected the appliance to replace it. It was a very easy process. They came back and installed a new one. They were very professional. They called us in advance to let us know they were coming. They also called us when they got here. They did the installation in 15 minutes and were friendly and professional. They left and took the old equipment with them.

Recently, they fixed my dishwasher and my dryer and the tech was a very nice man. It took one week to order the parts and they were here when they said they were gonna be. There's only been one time when AHS didn't come through for me. They told me my stove was broken because of not normal wear and tear, which I thought was ridiculous. I asked for a second opinion and both times that I did, they came through for me.

Our dishwasher stopped draining. I filled out a claim request form on the American Home Shield website and they let me know via text message that they were sending someone out and they had assigned Chaney Appliance as the provider. After I got the text message, a tech came in about 48 hours. He was perfect and I would hire him for another job any day. I have an old dishwasher and they had to order a part, which sadly was on backorder.
After four weeks, Chaney Appliance came back and said, "It seems like that date went from backorder to no date at all." That's when American Home Shield stepped in and they were able to get the part. Within two weeks of them ordering it, Chaney was able to replace the old parts in my washing machine and get the unit up and working. They were very proactive and quick. American Home Shield is great.

I call American Home Shield when I need them. I used them one time for my AC unit and everything worked out well. My AC would come on but it wasn't blowing cold air. Service people came and looked at it. This happened on a weekend and the service people couldn't come out until that Monday. They told me that some type of board needed to be replaced and they replaced that. Everything came back working again. But the AC went out again. A service guy came back and the fan wasn't blowing outside. He cleaned the fan and that was it. I'm glad what he told me was actually right. Everything was good. American Home Shield should keep hiring good workers.

The washing machine was off balance. It wasn’t spinning and wringing my clothes out. I called American Home Shield and they sent somebody around right away. The people they sent were professional, courteous, and got the job done.

American Home Shield has been great so far. We moved to a new home and they set up a locksmith to come out and change our locks for free. It was part of their service. We recently had a dryer break. It was almost smoking and starting on fire so, I booked the service appointment through the AHS online web portal. The tech came out and assessed it. And AHS is sending us a new dryer because it couldn't be fixed.

The belt on my dryer broke and I submitted the claim to American Home Shield online but I ended up calling too because they wanted me to take a picture of the model so they can give all the information to Mr. Appliance. The tech quickly figured out the belt was broken, put a new belt on and away he went. It took him 15 minutes. I had to pay 100 bucks to American Home Shield and for Mr. Appliance to come out and you're gonna pay that whether you use a warranty or not. It's the way it works now. I've been using AHS for a couple years now and they replaced my washer because we couldn't fix it. They also fixed my dishwasher. I got AHS a couple of years ago because I have a furnace and AC unit that was 25 years plus. Last year, they fixed my AC unit a couple times. It's like two life insurances for your appliances so you don't get hit with a huge bill.
When my washing machine died, AHS told what the model was that I could get for free. Or if I wanna step up to this model, I could and it would cost me X. It was a nice option to have. We ended up taking the free one, because that was available. My wife didn't like the nicer one so we just took the one that came and we've had it for two plus years, and it’s working fine. When I started, the cost was 48 bucks a month for the plan. I've used it a couple of times and now, it's 60 bucks a month. So, over the last two years, it had gone up 12 bucks a month. Just like your car insurance, use it and the price can go up. But if you have an older house or older appliances, it's a no-brainer.
