It offers three home warranty plan options, priced from $29.99 to $89.99 per month, with either a $100 or $125 service fee. In addition to normal wear and tear, plans cover breakdowns from rust, insufficient maintenance and faulty repairs, which are often excluded from home warranty coverage.

When water was leaking in my garage because of my air conditioner, I requested service through American Home Shield. The repair people gave me a call, explained who they were and came out as scheduled. Once the repair man came out, he told me that the condenser was clogged and it was leaking water too. He poured some solution in the drain hole. He also told me what to do to rectify it in the future. He told me to take 12 to 15 ounces of bleach and showed me where I should pour it each month so I wouldn't have that problem again. I put the bleach in the 1st of October, and that problem hasn't occurred.
I have been promoting American Home Shield even to people I meet. I heard a guy one day talking about their refrigerator that went out and the things he needed. I said, “Do you have a home warranty?” He said he didn't, so I said, “Having a home warranty is the best thing that you could ever do, because even though you get new appliances, you don't even know when they're gonna go out.” Most things act up the day after the warranty goes out, and one starts with paying the service charges only.
I told the guy, “I got a new water heater.” It went out right on the holiday, and I explained to him my experience. I said, “If I didn't have American Home Shield, I will be coming out X amount of dollars.” Most people don't have that kind of money sitting around. I said, “It was well, well worth it.” He said his friend suggested he get one, and I said, “Hon, you better listen to your friend because you can be paying out astronomical prices for service charges.” So, he said that he was gonna join.

I've only utilized American Home Shield once, but it was good. It was for my HVAC, and the claims process was really easy and smooth. The person that came out was nice as well, but the cost was a little pricey for the work, because it wasn't covered. It involves a clean out of it, and that's more of a maintenance issue than something wasn't working.

I had American Home Shield before but I left them, and I went somewhere else. But I found out that American Home Shield is the best. I came back to them. I had one experience with them where the technician wasn’t able to complete the job, and they had to send out another technician. Aside from that, every time they send out a technician, they handle the job. They do what I need them to do. They got my washer, my garbage disposal, my air conditioner, and my refrigerator running.
This last time, when the technician said that he was not able to complete the job, I called American Home Shield, and they said they had to wait for the technician to contact them. I said, "He's already said he can't do it. I'm sitting over here with my washer not done.” The customer service representative should have the authority to make a decision and put another order out for me instead of waiting on the previous technician to contact them and tell them that they couldn't do it.

Having Home Shield is good because when you have a home, things break and it's best to pay that instead of having to try to pay it out of your pocket. Every time I call Home Shield, they get somebody out here to fix my issue. My last experience with them was when my air conditioner went out. This was about four weeks ago. The day I called, the contracted vendor didn’t come out. The guy was e was mean too as he was probably at another job. The next day, he didn’t come out either. I called him and he said they were gonna be here. That morning the next day, he was here. With my air conditioner, I could understand that. Being here in Texas, it was hot during that time. A lot more people’s air conditioning units probably went out too. The guy fixed the air conditioner. He was good and did everything. There were some ants that got up in my box cabinet. He put another switch on and sprayed some stuff in there to keep the ants out.

I couldn't get the garage door to come up. The tech got out there pretty fast and he was pretty quick with putting it in. He was very nice. If I had any questions, he would answer them.

The AC wasn't cooling enough and the thermostat died. I called American Home Shield but until now, it's not repaired yet because we're still waiting for the part. The contractor is supposed to come on the 1st of November. When something like this goes bad, it's convenient that I can call someone right away. It's just a matter of American Home Shield finding a good contractor that will repair right away.

The top of my glass range broke. The guy that replaced it did a phenomenal job. But we had problems when we were trying to get our air conditioning fixed. I've got really, really bad COPD. So getting too hot is not a good idea. The AC went out Sunday morning and it was summer in Arizona at the time. We tried to contact American Home Shield but there was no answer. My wife left a message and still nothing. Come Monday morning, I called a local company, and even though American Home Shield didn’t cover it, absolute total props to them. For 890 bucks, they replaced a bunch of crap, refilled my AC, and replaced the lines in my AC. I had to take that one on the chin. I’m not amused about it, but that was okay.

The motor on the refrigerator side of my mother's Frigidaire went out. Somebody had to come and replace that portion. He was excellent and knew what he was doing immediately. On his first visit, he knew within three minutes what the problem was, and ordered the part. I got an email that the part was ordered. Then the hurricane hit us, so we had to wait an additional week. They rescheduled, and the tech was here and he installed it. As far as American Home Shield, we've used them twice in the time we've had them. We had a claim for the washing machine and that went as smooth as the refrigerator. The service was excellent. A friend referred us to AHS and we've referred at least 10 family members and friends who all have their service.

Our hot water heaters weren't heating anymore and it was replaced with new hot water heaters. But they leaked, causing severe damage to the walls and the floor throughout the night, which led to us having to tear out subfloor. Eventually, I had to foot the bill for removal of the walls. It was all water-damaged at that point. And the contractor came out and were great. The repair guys helped out with no questions asked. They went above and beyond by ensuring that there was the least amount of stress possible on the home, my wife, my kid and me. The service was excellent. I've had a good experience with AHS so far. They provide immediate response. It’s user-friendly and more of a hands off approach. I filed a claim one day and literally the next day, I had plumbers here.

When the oven was pre-heating, it made a big loud boom sound so I decided I wasn’t going to use it anymore. I called American Home Shield and the rep asked what kind of stove it was and said they would send somebody out. The tech was nice. He came and did his job within no time. He looked at it and after I told him what was going on, he knew what the problem was. He told me and explained why it was doing that and what it was doing, and then he fixed it. Everything is good so far and I don’t hear that boom.
I've only had one experience with AHS but everything's been smooth sailing. When I call, they come. But one time, I couldn't get anybody. I had a sewage problem. My sump pump had gone out and the person they gave me to call didn't answer anything. So, I had a big issue with that. My son went out and got me a sump pump and he put it in himself. That was the only issue I had where there was a problem. But other than that, I haven't had a problem.

The old hot water heater just let go and I started trying to use American Home Shield’s online app when I submitted the claim but it kept giving me a problem. There was no way to get past one certain point and I had to go and use their little site helper and call them from there. When the repair guy came out, the diagnosis took about five minutes. And when the new water heater was brought in, the guy started about 4:30 in the afternoon and by 6:00, he was finished. He did everything himself and then, he took all the trash away. I thought it was gonna take longer.

The Lindsay Company needed to unclog a sink and it took them less than an hour. American Home Shield has been okay so far. It's a fair price, and they've been responsive. However, I'm in the middle of another claim, and this one is taking a bit to resolve.

We left the house a couple times, and when we came home, our garage door was open. We just thought we forgot to close it, but then one day, my dog was barking like crazy and looking outside. I looked and the door was open. It was opening and closing by itself.
I liked the guy who came. He was good, knowledgeable and figured out what was going on. We needed a new computer board, and he had to order it, then we got it installed when he came back. He also told us to unplug our garage door opener so it won’t be opening on its own while we were gone, ‘cause we were gonna be going out of town the next day. All in all, it's been a good experience, and I haven't had any problems.

We've had no trouble with American Home Shield’s service. There was a small part that wasn't working on our AC, and it was easy to request for service. The tech was nice and prompt, and it worked out really good. He had the part, and he fixed the AC. Everything was good.

I just submitted a claim online to get my dishwasher serviced. American Home Shield sent a tech out and it was smooth. They came in, were very polite and got everything set up. I like having a peace of mind that when something goes wrong, I know that it will get fixed.

We had a problem with our dryer and the claim process went very smoothly. They contacted us and we scheduled an appointment. They showed up in the correct amount of time and they were able to fix the issue. The tech was very nice. With AHS, I have a secure feeling knowing that the appliances are covered.

When a repairman got in touch with me for the dryer, he wanted me to do a video. I said, "My dryer is not heating up. I don't know what kind of video I could take to show you that it's not heating up.” Then he gave me a date that he was going to come out but didn't show up. I had to keep calling American Home Shield. They told me that the parts were already with the repairman and that he would get in touch with me but he never called me back. But when the repairman came in, he did everything that I needed done. He was efficient. This was the first time that it took so long to get my claim serviced but I'm not gonna hold it against American Home Shield. They called him and kept telling him that I needed to get my service done. After they called him and told him he had 24 hours to get it done, I got a call from him telling me he'd be out the next day. I was very dissatisfied.

I did a claim for some electrical work and that was great. I’m feeling extremely satisfied with my service. Prior to realizing we could use American Home Shield, I had two other companies that couldn't figure out the problem. American Home Shield sent guys out and they figured out the problem. Based off of what the deductible was versus what I paid prior, this home warranty is definitely well worth the money.

The garage door would open, but it wasn’t closing. I put the request in to AHS and the next day I had an appointment for the following day. It turned out that there was a wire that was broken, so the techs repaired that. Then they replaced the sensors and it worked out really well. For the most part, the techs that AHS send out have been great. I’ve had other claims where the vendors haven’t been the best, but you can’t pick and choose everybody. I had Sears before this and they suck straight out. But in terms of the market, the guys I had recently are the best in the market.

Kenny, the tech, replaced my showerhead that was leaking. Also, I told him about the toilet rocking. But I was trying to call back because it's still rocking. He said a flange might be broken.

I called AHS and they were able to get someone out the next day. Then the tech was able to diagnose and repaid the problem on the same day. I've had AHS for many years and the only problem I ever had was on big items like air conditioning and refrigerators. I'm also upset that they're going up in the price.

The drain in my bathtub was broken and it wasn't draining right. It had a built-in drain plug and it was broken off so PF Plumbing had to take that out and fix that. Then, they got the drain unstopped. They were really nice and they did a good job. AHS has been amazing on some instances but they have not been real great on the heat and air. It would take three weeks. I'd be calling every day and I wouldn't hear from anybody. At two different times, what the contractors did caused water leaks in my ceiling through several rooms. The last company was better. They fixed the problem, although it took them three weeks to get out here. They did a good job but the other companies AHS kept sending me were not. Also, their reps keep saying the same prerecorded line every day that they have to check it but they never do.

I went with American Home Shield because my nephew and a neighbor recommended them. I live in a condo and I have some older units. I thought it would be a wise move in Texas to have coverage for air conditioning. I called the home warranty for a claim and they let me know what company it was that was going to show up. The service company was good and they showed up on time. There was mold that had built up and condensation was building up as there wasn't any place for it to go.

I filed my claim with AHS for the furnace and it was really easy to do it online. Then I got a text message that Rapid Heating and Cooling would contact me the next day. But I got a message within 20 minutes and their tech came the next day. The tech who came out showed up right on time and he was there for about four hours since there were a few things that had shorted out that he had to replace. But he replaced everything and we haven't had an issue with the furnace since. He also explained to me what he changed, what he looked at, and the general locations of where they were at. The service was quick. I figured I'd have to wait for a few days, but that didn't happen. So, overall, the warranty is a good investment of money. Spending the $70 a month and $125 to file a claim is worth it.

It's very difficult to deal with the people who answer when you call American Home Shield. They will not give you a direct answer. If you want to speak to a manager, they tell you that's impossible. Also, they're foreigners. In fact, when we got the service people out there, they indicated that they also have difficulties dealing with them. The call center is a pain in the butt.
When we had a claim for the AC, the contractor was excellent. They diagnosed the problem and made a repair and it worked out okay. But the bigger problem was the unit was shot and needed to be replaced. We ended up purchasing a new system but it was not through American Home Shield. I would get $625 back off the old unit, wherein the company that American Home Shield recommended to install it gave me a bid of over $10,000. I can purchase a unit cheaper than that with installation and a factory warranty. But they wanted to sell me the most expensive rated unit that they make.

I had some issues with plumbing and American Home Shield wasn't able to assist. For any type of claim that I file with them, I have to pay $100 to file it, even though they take money out of my account every month just to have the service. When I filed the claim for my plumbing, no one even did anything. They just had someone come out and diagnose the problem, and that was it. It was not helpful at all. I also filed a claim against my refrigerator and came to find out I had to pay $100 just for someone to come out and look at it and then not even fix it. I'm going to discontinue my plan. I don't need it. I thought it would offer me more than it has. American Home Shield is a waste of money.

We like the service with American Home Shield for now. When my house needed some repair, the people they sent came in as scheduled time and did the repair. I'm satisfied with their service. Our electric stove wasn't really working properly for a while. I called American Home Shield and they sent 3 Boys. They came and ordered the parts and put them on. Now, it's working better.

American Home Shield has been very good. It’s a reasonable trip fee. When they didn’t correct the issue, they came back out and didn’t charge me another trip fee. I had a good job at my own personal home and up at the duplex too. All in all, I’ve been very happy with what I paid and what I’ve gotten out of American Home Shield.

When something gets damaged, I put in a request and AHS has been very helpful for me. Recently, the refrigerator was not working and the techs didn't find a part. AHS ended up giving me a new refrigerator.

I told the American Home Shield rep the problem I was having and also told him that I did not want the $75 fee taken out of my regular account for this particular service. I gave him another credit card number. When I got my statement, they took it out of the account I told him not to. The rep was really good. It was just a misunderstanding and I left it as it is as it was no big deal. Other than that, it was fine. He had me video the garbage disposal so he could see under my sink. He saw exactly the kind of garbage disposal I had so he could send it to the plumber. The plumber would become prepared when he came here. That’s the purpose of doing that.
The plumber came all right. He brought a garbage disposal. I just let him do the work and I didn't even look at it when he finished. The garbage disposal fit but it was a mini version - something for maybe a singles apartment. I was shocked about that. But I didn't make a big deal of it. Eventually, it was explained that there was bad plumbing under there. Before that was even mentioned that, I knew the plumbing needed to be redone underneath that sink. By putting a heavy-duty garbage disposal, probably would just make the plumbing even worse.
American Home Shield has come through on all types of things. After 10 years, I only used them mainly for a clogged sink and for my hot water heater one time.When I first started, the fee was a lot lower. They then start charging a $75 fee. If I do something major, like my hot water heater and I looked at the cost of that, the plumber said that it would be much more. When I called American Home Shield, I told them I prefer the plumber not to do it. I would prefer to buy my own. They sent me a check and I went to Home Depot. I bought a water heater and had it installed.
I recommend American Home Shield. They come out and they're prompt. I had a plumber come out one time years ago and I didn't like his attitude. They never sent him again. They sent another plumbing service and that was fine with me. When I call, technicians show up and they fix things. If they can't, Americna Home Home Shield will do a replacement. With my water heater, they sent me money for it. I don't use American Home Shield that often. But when I do use them, they're dependable. It's just in years, I don't have issues with anything so I pay them more money than I would if I paid to have a service done maybe once or twice a year. But they're like an insurance thing. When the price went up, I did not cancel them. If I cancel any service, that would not be one of them.

American Home Shield sent Alpha Heating and those people are excellent. I love those people. It didn't take them that long to fix my problem. Overall, my experience with American Home Shield has been great. I've been with them a long time, and they have done a really good job on my house.

The service from AHS is pretty great. Mr. Service was awesome when they came out for an appliance claim. Their tech was in and out in less than 10 minutes and he knew what he was doing. He replaced the parts and the appliance has been working great. But the last experience I had with AHS is not too great. There were two valves that were replaced and it was explained to me they were $75 each, which I was fine with, but I received a bill for $267 that they did not explain to me whatsoever. I still haven't heard any feedback. Their call center is more geared to help people get service set up and not to deal with any issues that the customer may have. But I would recommend AHS.

The pool manifold had a crack in it, which prevented the pool from filtering the water. The techs who came out were excellent, prompt and very professional. They identified the problem. They were very good and reliable. It’s corrected now and I was able to go swimming. I've been with American Home Shield for a number of years and I added the electronics portion, which is new to their contract. I highly recommend them to quite a few of my friends who are homeowners.

I had a heater and air conditioning replaced and it was covered under the warranty. I’ve had American Home Shield for 20 years and the service has been phenomenal. I love every minute of it. AHS is a great thing to have and everybody should have it. It takes the worry out. I would have spent over $10,000 to fix my heater and air conditioner.

American Home Shield's service is good. The benefit of having it is that I don't have to find a contractor and it’s one flat fee for anything that goes wrong with the large amount of issues that could go wrong in the house. I had some electrical issues with a switch and a light in one of the bedrooms in my house. I opened up a ticket online and American Home Shield sent an electrical contractor within a couple of days and fixed it. It went smoothly.

The garage door wasn't working properly, and so it was not closing properly. I had it unlocked and pushed back up. Then I had to physically close it down and lock the door to be able to use it again. A technician came through American Home Shield and he looked at everything. There were some parts that were broken. So, he had all the parts replaced and was able to fix the issue quickly. I submitted it to AHS and they told me they could cover it.

I had a clogged drain. The tech that came out was good. He came in and I explained what was going on. He took a look at it and from my description of it, he knew exactly what to do. He was here for about 20 minutes and was done.

A contractor recently came out for a 1990s era dryer. They said, “This is too old. Let's see what we can do. Best case, we fix it and you have warm clothes. Worst case, you get a new dryer.” I had that knowledge going in. And the same situation was passed on to us with a situation that we had with a ‘90s era refrigerator which it was replaced. Same situation, but it was replaced instead, no questions asked.
Some techs had more of a go-get-them attitude than others. I've had one who's more individualized, but he was about the money. And he called. The company was closed. AHS treats the company a dime a dozen. You call there, and you don't always get the best customer service from people. When you get service, you get it. You call on Friday, and we can't get through. And that was him. He was unsure of what to do. So, he charged me. Me needing services right then, I was, “Okay, I'll pay you. Just get my lights on.”
I called right after then to say, “Hey, why did I have to pay this?” And they told me, “Well, you shouldn't have had to pay anything.” And the situation was remedied, but that was after I paid. And I had to make contact with the person who charged me wrong, did me wrong. It all started with them not answering the phone. AHS has been rude and all in some ways, but I've had a refrigerator replaced. I still have a ‘90s era dryer, but it works. And I know that if it falters at any point, I'll have one close. They work as an insurance plan should. It's worth it if you value your appliances. I wish I had them before I replaced my hot water heater.

American Home Shield did good job. Initially, there was some confusion between the technician and with management. I already paid the $100 deductible when I reported the issue, but when the technician came, he insisted that I pay another $100. There was some problem in communication there. Other than that, everything went well. They replaced my AC in a week's time. Overall, American Home Shield is okay, but the deductible is too high. That's the only drawback.

When I first started out with American Home Shield years ago, they had a quick turnaround time for the service. It's not like that anymore. Sometimes, when you put a call that you need help right away, they can’t always meet a time frame that you require for them to come out. I called them for the toilet and the half-bathroom downstairs but I didn't wanna wait that long for the repair guy with the time frame that he would be able to come out. So, I got somebody else. Then, I canceled it out with AHS. The rep was very pleasant and helpful when I called.

My dishwasher just stopped working. I talked to someone wonderful at American Home Shield. The technicians who came were wonderful, too. They fixed the dishwasher.

A repair guy came and said that the Freon in my AC unit was extremely low. It kept freezing my AC. That was after we bought the house. The repair guy got everything taken care of.

When my upstairs bathroom was leaking down into my kitchen, I spoke with a representative from American Home Shield and it was not good. There was a language barrier more than anything, but I wasn't happy with how many times it took the plumbers to come out to find the leak. The first time, it was the same company, just a different technician. The second time, it was a different company altogether, and then the third time, it was a different company again. None of them would open up the ceiling. They would just stand in the kitchen and listen as if they were doing an ear test and tell me that I didn't have any leaks. Eventually, I started getting yellowing in my ceiling, so I knew I had a leak somewhere.
The third plumber found the problem. A seal in my upstairs bathroom was leaking when the commode was flushed, and he fixed that, but then he left my ceiling open. I just got someone to come back to fix it, and they called me a while ago and said they'll be out tomorrow to close up the hole that's been there for two weeks. I hope to see them tomorrow as they promised.

American Home Shield is better than another home warranty I used to have. When I call them, their contractors come out quickly and handle my case. However, I'm still waiting on American Home Shield to give me my microwave. They said they are waiting on the man that they sent the microwave to. But it's been a while.

I called for my breaker, and it was easy to get through to American Home Shield. The electrician changed the breaker. However, I've had American Home Shield since four years ago, and at this moment, I want to cancel the service because they increased their price. They have not received my cancellation though. I need to talk to customer service but I haven't had a chance to do it.

I had two service requests gone out. One was for the appliance and the other one was for the wall unit AC. I had a wonderful experience with them for the kitchen appliance. It got replaced so that was very smooth and easy. But the wall unit AC is a completely different story. It's an opposite 180 degrees. The claim is still open since August. I had somebody come in Friday and the guy sounded like a scam. He was trying to charge me $1,200 on top of whatever they were gonna charge American Home Shield to fix it. It doesn't make any sense. According to the policy, if the unit is not working, either they fix it or replace it. There are no in between charges.

The toilet was moved from another bathroom some time ago and over time, it didn't work correctly. The repair people came in and switched out a part and it seems to be working fine now. Everything was quick and smooth. They came out a day or two earlier than scheduled. So, that was super for us. American Home Shield wasn’t able to repair things and some of our stuff took 90 days to get parts in but things have been better lately. So, I like that they seem to have local people to do the work. People should have AHS.

The tech from Industrial Doors was wonderful. I'm very happy. He came when they said he would and did the work very efficiently. The claim to American Home Shield was about the garage door opener and they ended up having to replace it. I was only charged the initial $100.

Our AC went down and when we filed a claim with AHS, they covered it very well, except it was 111 degrees and took forever to get the claim covered. It took two weeks, but we have a new AC unit now. Other than that, I like the vendors that AHS sends out but the vendor we have for appliances is horrible and I would not recommend him to anybody. He doesn't get back with anybody and it took four months to fix our ice maker. So if I had to do it again, I would drop the appliance protection on my warranty around here. I also do not like that I could never get ahold of anybody at AHS.

I've used American Home Shield for several different things. When I bought the house, the refrigerator was supposed to stay, and they moved it out. When they did, they broke the ice machine hook-up in the wall. When they brought it back, they didn't hook it back up, but they shut the water off to the house, which I had no clue about. Then my painter came a couple of weeks before I moved in. I said, "Come in. Paint everything before I move in because then you don't have to worry about painting around anything."
My painter turned on the water from the street not knowing that this was broken and flooded my downstairs dining area, through the wall and carpet. I called American Home Shield to get it fixed, and I had to cap the hook-up in the wall because it was leaking. It took the plumber four days to come out and he wouldn't touch it. He said, "Well, I can't touch it because you capped it." Was I supposed to leave it leaking for four days? It already leaked for a week. So, it's still not repaired.
I changed services to Choice Home Warranty. My seller purchased my policy for me, and they did not include my pool, so when I went to renew, I asked for a pool quote. Choice Home Warranty came in $300 a year cheaper, so I went with them. They included my pool and gave me all the same coverage that my American Home Shield warranty did.

We've been satisfied with American Home Shield. Everything we've had that needed repair, they repaired with no problem. When there was a stuck water filter on the refrigerator, a contractor came out did what they were supposed to do.

I like AHS but I was disappointed with their service one time. When one plate of my stove was not working, which was a big one and the one I needed the most, they let me wait for the parts for over three months and it was a hard time for me. But recently, I had an issue with the AC and it was taken care of quickly.

The first conversation I had with American Home Shield went well. The rep put me on a plan that was to my benefit. Everything, I thought, was going smoothly. When I called in my first claim, that was when it went to hell. I got the full plan that covered my roof but when it came down to me calling in the claim for my roof, they said that I didn't have that plan. That messed up my whole billing cycle and it was a complete mess. They ended up switching me from a 12-month plan, which was what I signed up to, and with the new term, I lost two months of service. It went downhill from there.
I called in to get the semi-annual checkup for the HVAC. Cutting Edge came out to do that. The tech did a great job. She gave me her statement and let me know the things that I needed to repair based on what she found. It was four items. She told me that three of the items were not covered under my contract with American Home Shield. A couple of days later, I called in to American Home Shield to file the claim and paid the service fee. A guy came out three or four days later, and he said that he was in to do something to the heat pump. I said that was never in the conversation. He said that was what American Home Shield told them. He also said it was not even covered. The guy didn't do anything because he was confused. I was confused too. American Home Shield said that I called in for the heat pump but that was not what I called in for. I looked on my statement online and that was what they put in, a heat pump. I don't know where that came from.
Cutting Edge came yesterday. I ended up paying out of my pocket to get the water safety switch because they said they don't do that either. I'm at the point where I'm waiting for American Home Shield to return my service fee because Cutting Edge did nothing. Cutting Edge spoke with them and told them that there was no work done. I will not be renewing with American Home Shield. Their customer service is disgusting. They don't cover what they say they cover. It's misleading. I wouldn't recommend them to anyone. They shouldn't even be in business with that kind of service that they do provide.

Setting up the request online is a good option. The techs were on time but they had to order parts. So, it was two visits. AHS is a good service but they've increased my rates which I don't like. I would like it to be back to where I was paying.

The tech was awesome. Even if American Home Shield doesn't send him, I try and request him. He looked at my washing machine, but he couldn't fix everything and I had to end up getting a new washer. American Home Shield told me that they would send me a Lowe's e-gift card, but being that I had been without a washer for a couple of weeks, and it's four of us that live here, I needed something right then. So, I went to Lowe's on my own. I had to send American Home Shield my receipt, and they just reimbursed me up to the amount that my washer was worth. I've had American Home Shield for a while, and I like it. When I first had it, we were living somewhere else and I sold that one. I have it at this property also. I heard some people talk about it, but it works for me and my husband. My brother has them now too. He lives in Oklahoma, and I got him to become a member.

My water heater started leaking. Moreno Plumbing came and said that the tank was leaking and that they would have to have American Home Shield send them a tank, which they did. They sent a premium tank, which is an A.O. The State Water Heaters do not last. I’ve had two of them, and they do not last. I’m very pleased that American Home Shield is using A.O. Smith because those are premium water heaters.

I went online and did a claim, and it was great. It was very easy and convenient, and the repair people took care of the work. However, I flush the toilet sometimes, then being the washroom is right next to it, I'll hear something like "shh" for some reason. It's not something that should be going on, and I was gonna call, but I haven't had time to.

American Home Shield always takes care of the issue. Every time, they're very friendly and I'm able to communicate with them. Sometimes the phone calls take long, but they're patient during the wait. Whenever we do a follow-up, they're very patient also. Recently, the freezer wasn't working properly. American Home Shield was gonna send somebody else, but they didn't deal with the brand of my fridge, so they had to look for a different person. They gave me their number and their name, and we contacted that same day. The repairman explained everything when he came. He left his card for me to call if I had any questions. The service was good. I was very satisfied.

We had free lock-changing services as part of our AHS contract. Their contractor Acco was super responsive. But every time I call AHS, it's a very long delay and it's very hard to reach someone live. They're always pushing us to the automated system and I don't have a lot of confidence in that so I try to reach someone. From that standpoint, it's been very disenchanting engaging AHS.

I like the monthly payments. It makes me feel better. If something breaks down, I don't have to worry about an immediate heavy expense because it's taken care of in advance. I can call them up to pay another $100-some that somebody will come and fix the problem. It's been good so far. My most recent claim was because I turned on the heating system and nothing was heating the house. We have a baseboard heating and no air was coming through the baseboard. I called AHS to submit a claim. I worked with Central Jersey Heating and Cooling last year and they were very good so I requested them. The tech called me immediately. He called me in the morning when he was on his way and he was able to fix the problem when he showed up. I'm very happy with that company. But I just realized my monthly bill went up from 95 to 120 with no conversations from them. I'm gonna give them a call because no one let me know.

I had a lot of water on the kitchen floor and I thought it was a water leak from the refrigerator. I called American Home Shield and shared with them what I felt the problem was. They told me the name of the company they assigned my claim to, then the company texted me and asked me if I would take a picture of the hose. I sent it to them then the technician came out. He was very friendly and professional. He did what he had to do and he said that the problem was with was some kind of valve that had broken up. It took him about 30 minutes and he was done. I have not had any problems since, so I'm pleased with them.
I've also been pleased with my experience in calling American Home Shield and speaking to various representatives. However, there was one time that I called because my microwave went out and I was not satisfied with the vendor they sent out. It's a built-in microwave right over the stove and it took that vendor over a month to figure out what the problem was. Then they had to consistently order parts for the appliance and they sent three different people out, trying to come up with the solution to resolve the problem. The final time that they came out, which was the fifth time, I told them that if they didn't fix it that time, they couldn't come out anymore. But they repaired the microwave that fifth time and it's been working fine since.

AHS is a great investment. I called them for the dryer that stopped heating. The rep gave me some number to call but when I called that number, they couldn't even find my claim. But a repairman came. I was at work so I had my son to go over there to meet him. When I came home from work, he was leaving. But he got out the vehicle and told me that it was fixed. There were a couple of things he said that he had to repair.

The freezer was leaking water on the floor. I put my claim in with American Home Shield and they assigned a company and somebody was supposed to come out. But the contractor called me the day before and said they couldn't come until five hours after they were supposed to. I told them it wouldn't work and we needed to reschedule. They scheduled me for three more weeks away. I called Home Shield and told them it was not gonna work. Home Shield assigned me somebody new, GM Appliances. They came out immediately and fixed the issue on the spot.

I no longer have coverage with AHS. It didn't happen all the time but some of the contractors that they send out are not as knowledgeable as they should be. Our refrigerator kept messing up for some reason and Norrod, the last person who came out, fixed the problem. At least I think they did, because it started to make noise again. The company before Norrods Appliance didn’t put the back seal of the refrigerator right so it was causing the refrigerator to freeze up, form a condensation and an ice build-up. And the other contractor had been out a couple of times to fix the problem. I contacted American Home Shield and told them that they should reassign because the other company didn't complete the job correctly. I had to call another contractor out but I never heard back from them.

Our two properties are with American Home Shield. I had a couple of issues, and they were resolved. A burner on the electric kitchen range was not working. The contractor initially thought that they had to replace that burner. But eventually, they found out that the main controller was not working. So, they ended up replacing the main panel. They took care of it.

I have two units. One's a 5-ton for the downstairs and the 4-ton for the upstairs, and a little switch stopped working. The technician found the problem immediately and had a solution because he had the part on hand. He immediately fixed it so we had a great outcome. I had an awesome experience but American Home Shield’s service is expensive.

I've had American Home Shield for several properties. I've been happy with them. The most important thing is they seem to pick decent techs. Recently, they dispatched someone for our refrigerator that wasn't cooling. Based on the initial diagnosis, they thought it might have been the compressor. They had to get approval from American Home Shield, and American Home Shield pre-approved that compressor. That was nice. Sometimes, some of these places won't do that based on the initial input from the homeowner. I've had other incidents where I lost the compressor and an AC system, and either American Home Shield was gonna fix it or give me $500. I took the $500 and replaced the whole thing versus just the compressor.

We had a claim for an electrical issue and the electrical contractor never contacted us and closed out the dispatch. I contacted American Home Shield and they resolved that situation immediately by assigning a new contractor. They will be out next week. Our service with American Home Shield has been fine so far. The failures that we've had have been covered and fixed in a timely manner. When all of our downstairs heaters failed, they ended up replacing all of them which was great.

There was a pipe that was making a horrible noise. My claim was assigned to Allstate and their service personnel was nice and lovely. They have a terrible rating but it’s probably because people don't get what they want. Their tech came and did something. It wasn’t my hot water heater that was leaking and going. My condo is an older one and it never had a water pressure regulator. The water pressure was about three times what you’re supposed to have. And because I didn’t have a pressure regulator, there wasn’t anything to repair. When I called, it wasn’t covered because it wasn’t something that was broken. It was something that I didn’t have. I got a pressure regulator from another plumber. I still am gonna need a new hot water heater. That one is leaking on top. Also, the tech from Allstate looked at another sink that was backing up and did something to make it quit doing that too and he didn’t charge me anything.

When we bought this house 27 years ago, it came with a one year warranty, which was American Home Shield. They did a good job of covering things that went out. So, I just figured the house is getting older and these things need protection. So, it seemed prudent to buy it. I also have it on a rental house. It also covers the cost of appliance repair. Recently, the washing machine would not drain and the pump kept running and growling. So, the contractor came out and fixed it. The only thing that could be better is quicker service. It took longer than I had hoped for them to get out here to fix it. But they were fine. They got it finished the same day they arrived. It started having some of the same symptoms again a couple of days ago. But it cleared up after we turned it off for a while and turned it back on.

One benefit of having a home warranty is when you call, you pay your fee and someone comes out within so many days. It’s easier instead of just having someone say they’re gonna do something and not do it. With American Home Shield, we know when we go through a service company that they have contracted through local vendors where they can come out and service the clients.
We called American Home Shield for our range top which was giving us a problem as it would not heat. A technician came very quickly. He was very knowledgeable and professional. He looked at the problem, let us know what was going on, and was gonna contact the office back. We should be hearing something from the company.
I would recommend friends and family to get American Home Shield because it’s very helpful and it alleviates a lot of the stress of trying to get things done and having someone fix something. With the problems that you may encounter, there is someone that you won’t have contracted with. And it’s much easier that way. American Home Shield does an amazing job. This last time, we got the information and we were trying to locate who was gonna do the installation because we were going out of town. We just wanted to make sure what would be done so that someone could be there.

The dryer was not functioning correctly. It functioned, but the door was odd and it would turn off. Express Appliance got out within a week. They ordered the replacement part. They did a virtual conference first. You can schedule that anytime. Then they diagnose the problem and mail you the part. As soon as the part is available, you can schedule a repair. It's super helpful. I have multiple kids so trying to schedule time for having a person show up between four-hour window is not ideal.
I like not having to worry about any of the appliances breaking down and being down for very long. The idea of losing a washing machine is horrific. However, I'm stuck with the contractors that American Home Shield hires. Some of the contractors that they employ are better than others. Luckily, I have a lot of GE appliances, and I enjoy the GE appliance contractor that comes out. It's been the same guy every time.

The power had gone out on the AC. It was working fine up until that point. They had worked on it last year and replaced the solenoid out. They troubleshoot it there on the spot and the condensing outside wasn't working. The tech was quick and professional and explained what he was doing. The AC works fine now.

My overhead microwave wouldn't start. I would put the time in and it would go for two seconds and then stop. The contractor showed up the day the microwave was delivered to install it. However, it took a month to get someone out here and then get it ordered and get to us. When I originally filed the claim, it was about two weeks before the contractor could come out to look at it. Then they said they were just going to order the control panel, took a few days, and they came back and said that they couldn't order the control panel ‘cause it was no longer made. So, they had to order a new microwave and that was three more weeks. But I would recommend AHS. They weren't bad.

My refrigerator has been broken since July of 2021. The contractor came out and it was determined that they were gonna order parts. Months went by and I kept calling the technician and American Home Shield. AHS said they were waiting for the technician and the technician said that AHS is ordering the parts.
I kept calling and I can't remember how many times they sent people out. Finally, I had a big fit and on July of 2022, I told them I was over it. It had been over a year. That was the first time AHS sent out Ano Appliance. Ano said I need a plumber. A plumber came out and fixed the water hose and we lost a whole another load of food. AHS recalled the Ano guy and he said the refrigerator needed a new part. He said that they would send out somebody else with the part and they would fix it.
On September 29th, I talked to an AHS rep and he said that if the technician cannot fix it when he comes out that day, they would buy a new refrigerator. The technician came out and he couldn't fix it. I went and bought a refrigerator and called AHS to get the reimbursement. But the rep said they never authorized it. I had a couple of calls and some supervisor did call me, but she was rude and hung up on me. She wouldn't authorize me to get any reimbursement and I still have the old refrigerator with the broken part. I told them to send out the technician and they tried to send out the first guy that didn't fix it. I told them I'm not having that contractor and they said I got an email that they were sending a Kenmore technician, but I never heard anything.

I called American Home Shield for the washing machine and the refrigerator freezer. Calling AHS is not a problem. It's just when there's an issue with something, sometimes the people don't speak English that well, and it's hard to get things resolved. Other than that, the tech from Ventura had very good communication. He tried different things to fix the issue. It didn't work out. So, we had to go with the replacement.
I had a technician at my Goodland address come by for the plumbing. When he was here, my son said, "Oh, by the way, the diverter in my shower isn't working right." So the technician said, "I have to come back anyways to do the kitchen sink. That's got to be approved. And as long as you get it in before that, we can add it on." I called it in the next morning and the Home Shield person put it on for the wrong house and issued a recall for the house in Neptune instead of Goodland. By the time it was straightened out, the other thing was approved. So, they couldn't add it on. I'm a little bit miffed about that. They said that I would have to pay another $75. When the guy was there, I called the next morning mostly because it was a Jewish holiday and I'm not supposed to use the phone on holidays. So, I called the next day but then they don't want to approve adding it on.
Apparently, if I would have called the day before, it would have been added on. But since I waited until the next morning, it wasn’t. I called that night. The holiday is over at nightfall, but they said that the department is closed and I had to call back in the morning. I've been on the phone with them already for two hours about it, and they were saying, "Well, the vendor told you the wrong thing. And we'll get them on the line. You talk to them and we'll be listening in." I don't want to do all this stuff. I like that vendor, too. That's the Acrown Plumbing. They're excellent. They do really good work.

I have three different AC units. I have two in the basement and one upstairs. The tech looked at it and he said that I had a problem with the Freon in one. He was able to turn two of them on, but they only worked briefly. It went out after he left. He told me that I have to have the heating unit checked before having it serviced and turning it on. That was it. As far as American Home Shield, they have people come out immediately if I need to have something serviced really quickly. When the situation won't be resolved immediately, they do have somebody come out to explain to me what transpired.

The part that makes our washing machine turn is plastic and it went out. My wife called in a claim with American Home Shield and they gave us Tri Country Appliance. They're good and we always try to get them to come out. They examined the washing machine and found out what was going on. They told us they had to order the part. When it came in, they came back and fixed the washing machine. My experience has always been excellent with American Home Shield. Get the plan.

I called that 800 number. And American Home Shield said, “What major components,” in this case, plumbing, and told them I had two issues. One is the master bathroom sink. The handle wouldn't turn the water on and off properly. The other issue was in the shower. We thought it was clogged because sometimes, it would smell. They checked for that. The person listened and was engaged, and seemed to do a good job. The shower is done. Because they checked it for clog and they just said, “Periodically, if it smells again, you might want to put some non-harmful bleach to subdue the smell.” And the other one, they have to order the hardware, so they're supposed to come back and finish the job and change the faucet and the handle. They will call me when it comes in and schedule the repair.

The first year I had American Home Shield, I loved it. The second year seems to be a little bit less worse because I've only called for one service call. I had a claim for the AC and the tech seems to say that I'm low on Freon. But at the same time, the AC system is a closed loop. So, if it's low on Freon, it means that there was a leak somewhere. From what I can tell, they didn't repair any leak. They refilled Freon for the AC but never fixed any leak. So maybe I was upsold.

I needed to get a dishwasher replaced because the parts weren't available. I had to spend hours on the phone with AHS trying to get that processed and it took over a month to get that processed. Then I had a couple other service calls. One was a plumbing problem and the plumber they sent out was not very good. He ended up making a mess in the bathroom and AHS ended up having to hire a different plumber. Then, they had somebody come out and look at the roof. He did a pretty good job, but I had a question for him after the fact and he never responded.
So, I think AHS gets the cheapest people they can find to come and take care of your stuff that may really not be the best people that you would hire personally if you had the choice. As far as the hassle with the dishwasher, that would have been enough. But everything else on top of it made it enough that I didn't want to renew anything with them. We had them at one point at a rental home about 10 years ago and they were very helpful back then. They had some people come out who knew what they were doing, and they took care of everything promptly. But they changed and I don't know what happened.

A tech did some work on my garage door and it works better now. He was very nice and cooperative. He explained everything to me. I’ve used Home Shield in my other home and in this one too. We love the service so far. Every time I've called, I got answers pretty quickly and everything was taken care of. Our AC was out and a technician from A-US Air Conditioning of Texas came out two days later. It was a good response and is very efficient. Also, the tech was awesome and very courteous. He got the job done.

I had service with American Home Shield for 14 years. They've been amazing. But I'm having little problems with my appliances. I've been trying to resolve it for two months, and it hasn't been resolved. My oven broke. And it's backorder, so it's not their fault. The manufacturer don't have inventory. So, I've been waiting and waiting. Another thing is, my AC broke two months ago. The contractor came out, but he's saying one thing, while AHS another. We're trying to resolve that. But prior to this experience, AHS was amazing. I just want better communication.

I just had a furnace replaced and installed by Greenway Heating and Cooling. AHS did a really good job of keeping me informed on the status of everything and how much I was going to be out of pocket for. I was really surprised that I really didn't have to do a whole lot of coordinating and calling contractors. They pretty much assigned those and did all that for me, which I had seen really bad reviews on some people who used AHS before and I was concerned about how mine would be.
The furnace was installed last Monday or Tuesday and it appears to be working well. The techs cleaned up all their mess and they didn't leave anything behind. I paid for the difference and that was it. It was fair. I had a little bit of out-of-pocket expense but it was nowhere near the expense that I would have had had I not had AHS.
I would recommend AHS if people could afford the best plan that they offer. The problem is when people go for the lower plans, they're out of more money when it's time to fix something and they're under the assumption, "I have insurance and it says that you guys cover this." But you really only get the bang for your buck if you go with the highest plan. I understand sometimes that may not be feasible for a lot of people to pay $75 a month. I'm on the highest paid plan. I'm a single mom and I don't have a handyman that can just come and fix things up. I don't have money laying around like that either. This home warranty really helped to not put me in a hole and put me behind on my bills.

Texas had a storm and I had a couple of shingles that was lifted. It caused a little stain, so that was a leak on the roof. So, AHS sent out the techs and they did the repair. They were very polite, professional, and quick. Having AHS is the best thing ever.

I'm on the fence about keeping AHS because I've hired a plumber before and it was $50 for them to come and the fix would be less than 100. There was also the time before when they said that the garbage disposal couldn't be replaced. So, I had to pay for it out of pocket and they assured me that the replacement was top of the line but when I looked it up, it was not a good product.
Recently, the plumbing was blocked and it caused an overflow. I would have preferred to be able to use my plumbing within a 24-hour period, so having to wait sucked. But once the plumber got out, he was great.

We called American Home Shield for a refrigerator that was no longer getting cold. The repairman who came did a wonderful job. He was very helpful. American Home Shield ended up having to replace it because they could not get the correct replacement part.

I'm an apartment manager, and I talk to a lot of people who are buying houses. I tell them always to get home protection. I got American Home Shield because I had a maintenance man that bought a house and he got that. I'd never even heard of a home warranty, and I'm a lot older than him, but I've never owned a house. They bought the home warranty, and the next day, he said they had poop coming up in their bathtub, but it wasn't theirs. He was so glad that he bought the protection, so when we bought our house, I said, “We better get this.” We're not always 100% satisfied with American Home Shield though. There are times when it takes forever for somebody to come out. Sometimes if the cost is cheap enough, we go ahead and pay for stuff because it's more trouble than it's worth, but all in all, we know if there's a big, massive problem, it's gonna be expensive and at least we got that in the background.
Our pool started not holding water, so it was draining. We have a pool cleaning company, and they told us that the filter was cracked and we needed to replace it. Instead of going through American Home Shield, we asked them and it was gonna be $1,800. We said, “Okay. We’re gonna file with American Home Shield.” AHS had Villegas Pool Service come out and they replaced the cracked filter. However, we had to call American Home Shield numerous times about it ‘cause we kept not hearing from anybody. There should be a better response, when you have a problem, of them letting you know when somebody's coming in, that they are taking care of the problem. ‘Cause we pay our $75. They take it out of our bank account, and we don't hear from them for a week or two.

I called American Home Shield up and told them I needed a repair. I talked to customer service. Everyone was very pleasant and service was good. The contractor has been out here before for the washer. Same thing happened the last time, it wouldn't go to the wash cycle. And once it's turned on, the water runs, but it wouldn't wash or go anywhere past wash. They replaced the same part twice. It just took too long. I had to go without doing my laundry for almost two weeks. But the contractor was great. I've had excellent service with AHS.

I had a problem in my laundry. The socket that my washer is going in was not working. So, I tried to look at my breaker. I turned it off and on and came back on, but it was still not working. So, when the techs came, they found out that there was something they had to change at the breaker. They had to go order that part, and then they came like in two days. Everything's working now. It was my first time using American Home Shield, and it was a good experience.

The first company that American Home Shield sent out said they couldn't fix the problem because their tech didn't wanna risk anything. With the second company, the guy who came out was really nice. He tried to fix the problem the first day, and then he couldn't fix it. So, it was replaced and that happened really quickly. I was very impressed.
We've just had American Home Shield since March, but we had it before for several years when we had a house in Spokane, and it was very nice. I'm thankful that I have AHS because my husband just passed away and then my water tank went out. It would have been a heck of a bill and a headache. Having AHS makes my life a lot easier. Financially, I might have to drop it someday but I'm gonna try to keep it as long as I can.

It took forever for my refrigerator to get fixed. It took forever for my AC and I still didn’t get it fixed. I went with an independent contractor on my own and got my AC fixed. It was fixed in no time but I paid out of pocket. I'm waiting on American Home Shield to send me a cash-out check. I sent the invoice in to them on September 9th, but I never heard anything back from them. I called them the other day. The lady told me that they were processing the 26th of September. If I didn't get an email or if I haven’t heard anything, to resubmit my claim and my receipt of what I paid for my AC.
I was thinking about dropping American Home Shield and going with someone else once they give me my cash-out. The experience has been horrible with me not using them for all those years, and when I had a issue where I needed to use them, it took forever. The customer service representatives don't want you to speak to anybody. Every time I decide I want to cancel, they're transferring me over to the cancelation department. Whoever I speak with from the cancelation department was more concerned and was trying to help me come to a resolution and solve the problem versus me canceling the contract. But the customer service representatives weren’t doing that. They were smart alecks. I didn’t even understand some of them ’cause they’re foreigners.

I got the AC got repaired but the appointment took a while. We had to wait for three weeks without the AC and it was pretty hard at that point of time. It was that peak wave time and we were surprised that we were not able to get an appointment for the AC as expected. But when the tech came out, everything went well.

My air conditioner wasn’t getting cold. I submitted a claim with AHS through my portal and it was pretty easy. Then, I was told I would be getting a call from the contractor and when they came out, they were professional. It turned out that I needed a new coil and after the repair, the AC has been functioning perfectly.

I had two claims prior about the AC. I had people do a temporary fix and I wasted a lot of time and money prior to Best Tech coming out and just changing out the whole AC. But when he came out, everything seemed pretty smooth. It was good for the most part. He had one recommendation and I didn't follow it, because I just didn't have the money at the time. His recommendation was to try and change out the furnace also.

My garbage disposal was not working. The tech found out it was all kind of rusted and rotten out. So he put a new one. I like that having American Home Shield is convenient. If something breaks, you just have to make a call and pay $75. That’s much easier than looking for whoever. Also, their vendors are good. I'm really happy with American Home Shield.

I filed a claim for some water leaks. The plumber knew what he was doing and got it done in a fair amount of time. The contractors seem to get here as quick as possible. It would help if they had service on a weekend. But other than that, it's okay.

Legacy 4 was very good. I had a water heater that went out on me, and they came out, looked at it, and decided what was wrong. They went back, talked to American Home Shield, and it was replaced. It took about a week in order for the part to be ordered and for them to go back, pick that up, and then install it. They were extremely professional, very nice, and everything is fine. I would use them again. I've been with American Home Shield for decades. Even my mother and father before me. I'm very happy with them. It's a great company, and I have told other people about it. I always tell people, "Go with them."

We have had American Home Shield for over a year now. This was our first time filing a claim. When we called to request service, we were initially told that our 2nd refrigerator was not covered, while it clearly states in the contract that it is. They scheduled our appointment about two weeks out and gave us a 4 hour window. At the end of that window, we received a call that the technician was running an additional hour behind. They showed up an hour and twenty minutes after the specified window. The technician made a quick diagnosis.
The company called the following week to schedule the repair appointment, which was going to be two weeks out. Today was supposed to be that appointment and we got a text at the end of our 4 hour window stating the technician had car trouble and would not be able to make it today and will be coming in two more days. While I understand this has more to do with the repair company, it is extremely disappointing that AHS does not use a more reliable contractor. This will now be 3 days someone in our household has had to miss a day of work.

Texas Gulf Coast Service came out for my icemaker. The guy was cool. He told me what was going on. I showed him my things and he fixed it. He sent away for a part. I got the part the next day like he said I would. The service is okay but AHS has to communicate a little better. When I ordered my service, I asked, “Is there any extra funds needed to be paid out?” They told me, “No.” Then come to find out there's a $125 fee which needs to be paid.

I like to use the app of AHS instead of calling in to submit a claim. It's a lot simpler for my life too. For my recent claim for the washing machine, Schubert's was wonderful. They always get out within a couple of days if they can. I'm very satisfied with AHS. I would 100% recommend them.

My refrigerator wasn’t cooling so I called American Home Shield and told them about that. They did a claim and they texted and emailed information over to me. I got a picture of the technician that was coming before he was even here so I knew who I was expecting. He came and he was very professional. He told me that he was going to have to order the parts. Three days later, he came out and put the parts in. I haven’t had a problem since.
When I lived in California, my cousin had a warranty with some other company. When their air conditioner went out, we went through hell and high waters to get the air conditioner fixed. I said, “I would never go through what she went through.” My friend has American Home Shield so I knew that that was a good company that’s why I got the home warranty. I already told my co-workers to get it too.

American Home Shield sent Ashman for a washer issue and they couldn't fix it. The techs were really good and efficient. They did everything they could to fix it but they say they couldn't because of one of the parts. So, they are replacing that. I'm still waiting for the replacement. I called in today because I accepted the replacement before and they haven't sent any updates on when I'm gonna get the washer. Overall, having AHS is convenient. I like their service.

American Home Shield has worked out good for me. It saves me a lot of money on the repairs. I had two plumbing issues recently. One, the commode was wobbly. Also, it doesn't have enough pressure when it flushes. The other one is a shower issue. One of the faucets, whenever we put it between hot and cold out, it made a loud noise. The techs were good and professional. I recommend AHS to others. Hopefully, they're getting some help from AHS as well.

We submitted a claim for the pool heater that wasn't coming on. Expert Pools came out, found out what the issue was and resolved the issue for us. They were fantastic. They had quick response. The issue was resolved within seven days which is why I moved to American Home from a previous home warranty company. I'd recommend American Home Shield with the caveat that it bothered me that every claim requires a $100 fee when there are multiple issues that need to be addressed. The website is intuitive but if you have multiple issues, you can not submit those in one. If you have a plumbing issue and there were multiple plumbing issues, you have to open a claim and pay $100 for each claim as opposed to listing all the problems and paying the fee once. That seems a little unreasonable to me.

The companies that American Home Shield is using are the dirt cheapest they can find, which I'm not horribly surprised about because they’re trying to make their money. We're not getting the cream of the crop. Also, sometimes, I would like a little more communication. I had a problem with the freezer and so I go through a video chat to get it fixed, and then they determined that it just needed to be replaced but then no one told me about it, so it wasn't until I called up and asked, “Hey, what's going on?” They were like, “Oh, we closed that order.” I called American Home Shield and then I got an email that day. Other than that, so far, I've had AHS for a bit over a year and it has been helpful. At least up to this point, it's paid for itself.

We needed an air conditioning repair and the first company that AHS sent out really couldn't diagnose the problem. It took them four visits until finally, I called AHS back and got a different company. And they pretty much figured it out on the first go. AHS seemed to be quick to respond but it’s a new house and this is the fourth time we've had an air conditioning issue. So I can't quite understand why that keeps happening. Also, the last repair took almost 10 days to resolve, so we were a little irritated with that.

I was getting ready to leave the house one morning and I tried to wipe the burners off. As soon as I touched it, flames jumped up and I started screaming. It was red from the glow from underneath and it was a glass top. I told my daughter to find the circuit breaker so we could turn the stove off or turn the gas off. And we did. If I wouldn't have done that, the house would have caught on fire. When a plumber came, he turned the gas off. I told him that we hit the circuit breaker and found which one it was. So, we're not going to turn it back on at all. Then when the guy came to see what it was and I turned it on, he said he got shocked and saw a fire. Stuff got burned on the stovetop when that fire shot out of it. So, American Home Shield replaced the whole stovetop. I called the plumber because it wasn't long enough for the replacement and he came out and did it. And it's been fine ever since.
Everything worked fine because of how much money I would have had to pay out of pocket. You pay your $100 so they’d come out but with the stove, I had to do it twice because when the contractor said it was fixed, it wasn't. They brought out one stovetop, then the guys told me it was too wide. It wouldn't fit in there. But it would have if they would have tried, but they didn't know anything. They couldn't do any plumbing. I paid the $100 restocking fee. I could have just kept it and told them to take it back. When I paid for the next order, that was when it got fixed.
Having a home warranty is great. My refrigerator was messed up and I got a new one because the contractor couldn't fix it. It would freeze up and I had to wait till it thawed out, unplug it, get all the water out, and then plug it back in. When all the ice was on it, it wasn't working right. They kept coming back. It wouldn’t work and the ice thing wouldn’t make ice. Whatever part that they needed, it didn't exist anymore. So that was almost a year and then, I got a new refrigerator.

When something occurs at your home, it's immediately worth it to have American Home Shield. If your air conditioning went down or your heater, any number of big debilitating expenses were to happen, you built in the safety of having the warranty. Recently, our air conditioning stopped functioning. This was the first time that I had an issue with American Home Shield. They initially gave me someone who took the job but never called me and didn't return my calls. I called multiple times and said that the contractor wasn't active. American Home Shield reassigned me to a different company, who was then fantastic. They called me and were there the same day. They gave me advice about how to maintain my air conditioning.

I moved into a new condo and wanted a rekey done. There were five keys that got redone and there were no issues. The techs were pleasant, nice and provided amazing service. I liked the fact that they were fast and efficient. They got the job done and knew what they were doing.

The guy came out. He told me that he could rebuild the faucet instead of replacing the whole thing. But he rebuilt the whole faucet and it started leaking even more. It stopped, and it started again. I called them the next day directly instead of talking to American Home Shield. I said, “It's still leaking. What's going on?” And they said, “I'm gonna call the technician and then he's gonna call you back.” I got sick and wasn't able to follow up. But I've not been happy.

Everything was fine when National Platinum Service came out for my claim. There was water leaking under the drawer in the fridge. It took them a week to come out, because they needed to order a part. Once they had the part, they came out. The tech was able to quickly fix it and resolve everything. What I like about AHS is I can get on the website to file a claim. If I need something serviced, I can just do it on the website, 24/7.

The guy from Pro-Tech Plumbing was great. He was personable, knew what he was doing, and was in and out within a reasonable amount of time. He was very helpful. We like American Home Shield’s service very much too. We just had one situation where I called and reported that the water dispenser and the icemaker weren't functioning. In fact, it was making a grinding noise. A young man from National Platinum came out and said, “Well, we'll order the part. We'll take a couple weeks.” They ordered the part, and the young man came back with it, but he found out it was the wrong part.
Another part had to be ordered, then he came back a second time and repaired my refrigerator. However, he's gotta come back a third time because the repair didn't go that well. We found out a day later that the water was working fine but the icemaker isn't working. I got a call today, and I haven't responded, to set up an appointment to bring another part to fix the icemaker. Other than that, our service has been good. Each service call’s $100, which ends up saving us money even in spite of the fact that we're paying $700 a year toward the home warranty. We're happy with it. We've been with them for several years.

The air conditioner stopped working, and then it started working back again. It was like intermittent problems. So I called American Home Shield and they said that Burleson was contacted and would contact us to set up a time. Then the tech came out and he said it was just the drain. He was very good and attentive. The air conditioner is working the way it should. With American Home Shield, I like the security and the idea that I can just pick up the phone and they usually have a contractor that can handle anything I have. I like the assurance that it's going to be taken care of.

There were some plumbing leaks in the refrigerator, we didn't know whether the pipe was connected or not, and there was some stoppage. The techs fixed everything and things are all good.

When we first began our service, everything was covered. Now, we have to be very careful because we've found that some things are not covered. Other than that, AHS is pretty good. Not having to pay total price for repairs and parts is beneficial. The last tech we had was fine. Service could be improved though if we didn't have to wait on the parts.

American Home Shield is good. When our AC was freezing up, we called them. Two guys were sent out here, and at the time when they came, the air was cooling. Because you would have to turn the air off, let it unfreeze, then go back and turn it back on in the inside. The two guys said that they couldn’t find no problem and our AC wasn’t low on Freon. They said everything was working and that they are phasing these older units out, and that was it. Obviously, everything wasn’t okay, because our AC kept freezing up. So, I called back and told American Home Shield that we were still having problems. They sent someone else out here, and they discovered the problem was the fan. They replaced that, and we haven’t had other issues.
I liked the second time the repair people came out. They were more professional. The first people that came out rushed in and out of here, and it was two guys at that. The guy that came out the second time said that we were good on Freon also, but I rate that guy very good. He was very professional and thorough. He said what he was gonna do, and he was up in our attic for a good while. He didn’t just rush in and out of here.

A.R.T. Heating & Air came out for the AC and it had something to do with the coil and one of the parts outside. After they fixed and cleaned the coil, it worked. I would recommend American Home Shield.

American Home Shield has been very responsive for me. I recently had to use them quite a bit. I had some issues in my kitchen. The first electrician couldn't be out for a week and a half. I called AHS. They immediately got somebody else that could come in before I had to go out of town. My next thing will be my AC heat pump, because I was going to replace that before the shelter-in-place hit. I had it scheduled. They had already been out, checked it, confirmed it, and we're good to go. But everything stopped. They have also done my water heater. They've done so much in here. And they've been great. I have utilized them, and I'm happy with them. I would recommend anybody. It's a comfort knowing that’s there. If something major goes out, I'm not gonna just lose it. Go for it.

My air conditioning unit had gone out. So, American Home Shield sent someone who looked at my air conditioning unit, and he saw it was something simple that could be fixed. He fixed it, and the air conditioner started working immediately. Overall, I like how quick and efficient American Home Shield is. They have great service.

American Home Shield sent Sears to fix my dryer. I didn’t have a dryer for three weeks, but the guy was good. The part came in within two days. The appointment to get it put in took forever, so the whole process was almost a month.

It's so overwhelming to think about finding a good service person. They select one for you and that's good. One of my complaints is that when you call them after hours, you get a foreign person who's always very pleasant and is always following the script. But there are times when I have no idea what they're saying. I have to make them say it several times and my hearing is perfectly normal. They need to vet their people a bit better. Once in a blue moon, I've gotten people who gave me advice, and one time, that person was right. It was so great because I would have never thought to check whatever she was telling me.
Not all the contractors are as good as others and we've had spotty experiences. We've been lucky that we've mostly had good service but occasionally, people are not up to the job. In the last year, everything has been fine. Recently, a Sears tech replaced a fuse that had blown in our microwave. He was able to take care of the issue.
One thing I haven't done is calculate how much money we have spent on American Home Shield versus what it might cost to call our own people, and how many times have we been asked to pay additional. Recently, we had to pay additional because my air conditioner was so old they had to retrofit. They couldn't fit the new air conditioner into the old air conditioner's housing. It was over $1,000 and that came as a bit of a shock.

I purchased my brand-new home and I'm a single parent. I had to protect myself and my investment. I've had Home Shield for about eight years and it's good. I used their service when I was having my three toilets were backing up. I went online trying to submit a claim on the website. I ended up having to call to submit the ticket. I got it submitted using the automated system.
I got an email from Home Shield telling me the name of the company and the phone number. The company called and told me who they were. They said they received the work order and that they would be out. They would contact me about 30 minutes prior to their arrival at my residence. They also told me I needed to call Home Shield back because of the way that the work order was written. It would only cover one toilet. Since I needed three of them looked at, I had to speak to a person and they had to adjust the work order for all three toilets. That was pretty easy and I wasn't on hold for an extended period of time.
My brother let the technicians in when they came and they were pretty professional. They relayed information to my brother well. My brother called me on the phone while they were here. They snaked all three toilets. Two of the toilets were flushing just fine. The toilet in my master bedroom had to be snaked a couple of times before it started to flush fine. I was told I needed to replace all three toilets and get one that has a bigger valve and has more pressure when flushing. The one in the master bedroom is probably used more. They wrote things on the invoice. The only thing was some important information on replacing the toilet was left out like, "If you need to replace the toilet, this is what you need to get. This is what I recommend you do."

Our water heater had a leak, so we had to get a new one. But I'm going to ask the tech for a refund for $200 because he didn't hook it up properly. If he doesn't I might be calling American Home Shield back in the hopes that they'll agree that they charged me for a service that wasn't done properly. I also had a hard time getting back in touch with the plumbing company and it was frustrating. I then called American Home Shield because I figured the plumbing company might be more responsive to a company like American Home Shield than just a consumer, and had a really hard time explaining to everybody over at American Home Shield what was going on.
They were reading off of scripts. I understand it's a big company, they hire a lot of people that are dealing with a lot of things, and they have to standardize stuff. But there was very little flexibility or ability to problem-solve on the fly. I had to escalate to a supervisor from the person who answered and even he had a hard time. I had to just yell at him a little bit to get him to do what I needed or just get him to understand that I was not starting a new claim. I just needed them to get the guy back out here. It took a lot more than it should have just to talk to somebody who was able to do a minimal amount of critical thinking and problem solving to get that done.
When I finally had the contractor back out, the guy confirmed that the water heater was not hooked up right and that I'd need to get an electrician out here. So, I had an electrician come out and hook it up. The service was ultimately provided and we have hot water now. Plus, I got it all done for cheaper than it would have been just paying for a new water heater out of pocket. So, I'm not about to cancel the service and I'll probably recommend AHS to people.

My water shut-off inside the house was not working. I had a shower in the basement that I couldn't get to turn on and off properly. I reached out to American Home Shield on a Wednesday and they set up an appointment. Heros Plumbing called me and they came out the next day. They had everything taken care of in less than an hour. American Home Shield seems to be pretty good and I am very satisfied.

AHS is a little bit more expensive but it's better quality than other companies. I had a claim when the air wasn't cooling and True Air Solutions came out. They told me when they were coming and when they were on their way. I wish they hadcome on sooner. I had to go for about three days without air. But the tech was really nice and quick when he came out and he got the job done.

I like American Home Shield’s service good, except my last call. I had a problem with my refrigerator and I moved it. It took the techs about a month to come so I had to use another refrigerator and I couldn’t have both refrigerators in my house. The techs told me they couldn't fix it because it wasn't in the house. But it should have been covered. For the most part, AHS is a good company. My AC went out and they replaced that. They also assisted with fixing my roof when it had a leak.

My dishwasher was leaking and the contractor had trouble getting it fixed. They've replaced the door and a bunch of stuff. They just didn't replace the right thing. But they've got what should be the right thing now ordered. Normally, I'd be frustrated by this point because they’ve been out six times. But they're doing what they can. The tech took the door off and we could see where it was leaking. So so it made sense what he ordered every time. But now, that's not leaking anymore. Apparently, it was leaking in two spots. They replaced one so now the other one is being replaced.

It took longer to get the oven into our wall. It's gonna be installed on Monday next week. But there was a complication, I called American Home Shield, they made it happen anyway. They rechanged the submission to replace it, and now, everything's smoothly going. The fact that I've been working on it since July is not a big deal. I just want them before Thanksgiving. I will get reimbursed for everything, and I'll be done. So, I'm happy.
I've had a few things happen recently. So far, I've felt good about all the contractors that have come to the house. They've always been on time and polite. And they have scheduled appointments so quickly. There were some loose wires in the wall. Because they were loose, it burnt out my ceiling fan, too. The contractor thought it was just a ceiling fan, because they looked at everything, and I kept saying, "No, it's the switch, too." They replaced the ceiling fan and it was working, but the next day, it stopped working again. I called, the contractor came back and looked at it and said, "Oh, no. Okay. We missed this. This is our bad." And they just replaced it and fixed the wiring.
A couple of times when I was calling, it was hard to understand some of the people I talked to. I got some people from the South, which was nice, and in Georgia, but I could understand them better. I got someone with a thick accent and it was very hard to tell. My sister said that they've got some of their call services overseas, and so that's what's difficult. I called back and got somebody else, and that was when the people understood me.
I know they read lists. But when I was trying to fix the whole problem with the oven, because the parts weren't available, so they said I had to get a new one. It was ridiculous. The thing is only four years old. No one could find the parts to fix it. I called three times and said, "I don't understand why the oven that you guys are suggesting isn't available, but you want me to go another route. But I'd rather take what you guys are suggesting." But God knows when I would get it.
That was when I got somebody who spoke good English, and they got it through, and she understood what I was saying. She said, "Hold on," got another sales associate, and the two of them gave us 15 minutes, came back and said, "We've got a great deal for you. We just have to get our manager to approve it." Making sure that if they can't understand, when I ask for a manager or somebody above them, and they were, "Uh, I don't know." So, I was, "Okay. I'll just call back later." That happened, but that was the only time. The other times have been great. I've done all the surveys for American Home Shield, too, on the phone. And even they tried to help.

Our AC quit working. Setting up the request online was convenient and quick. I heard from the techs the day after. They had to order another system. AHS is a good company. We've had to use them at two different homes and they've come out like they were supposed to and they fixed everything without an issue.

I tried to call American Home Shield before to get answers, but I was on hold for over two hours. When my downstairs bathtub was clogged and I had low pressure in the upstairs bathroom sink, I just did the service request online. I only had to pay $75 for a plumber to come out, but it took the company eight days to come. I called in the week before the initial appointment and they couldn't get out here until the following week, but then the technician that was supposed to come had a family emergency. So, they had to reschedule and that took more days. When the technician came though, he removed the clog.

When I bought the house, American Home Shield was what the previous homeowner had. I filed a claim on an appliance and they took care of it. I decided to renew it every year. Everything's worked out great with this home warranty. They've always been fast and responsive. If a major appliance goes out, I'm not stuck trying to buy a new one for $3,000 or $4,000.
The washing machine broke right after a major hurricane hit my area. It quit spinning and it wouldn't drain. After filing a claim, I got an email with the number and the name of the business and the person that would be showing up for the service. The tech was great and he was able to fix everything wrong with the washing machine. He had to replace some parts in it. The machine is still working today.

It makes it easy that I don't have to call my brother in law or somebody to come help. I can just call American Home Shield and somebody will come out and fix it. The heating element on my dryer had gone out. And the contractor also checked my washer to see why it kept leaving white spots on my clothes, and they figured it out. It was because I've got calcium in my water, and they were able to repair the dryer. The tech was super nice.

American Home Shield has been perfect. I've used them a few times. I did a claim for a pool issue recently. It ended up being mostly my fault. The contractor cleaned out my filters for me which I paid additional for. The good thing about having American Home Shield is when I call for my pool, I have the same company.

I've tried to call American Home Shield several times and I get put on hold for an hour. I had two open items. The motor and the impeller on my pool were apparently broken. My pool service guy came out and he said it was making a lot of noise. He was going to replace the O-rings in it and he said it was just all coming apart on the inside. So, he said, "It's going to stop. It's going to break down quickly. And so, you better get it repaired or else you won't be pumping your water to the filtration."
You can never get to a representative at American Home Shield. That's the frustrating thing. I did the claim online. The tech from Coast 2 Coast was very professional, very friendly, and came out the next day after I put the claim in. I was out of town when the service was provided but when I came back, it was running properly. The motor had been replaced. So, whatever he did, he did it the way it was supposed to be done as far as I could tell. I wasn't looking over his shoulder while he installed it. My pool guy said it looks fine.
We moved into this house about three months ago and the sellers had an existing claim with the home warranty company for parts for the ice maker and for a drawer. And I called to follow up on that claim and gave them the number and the information because the sellers had left. We had bought the house. The claim was never addressed. We were told they had ordered parts but we never heard anything. So, I called the company that was supposed to be handling the parts and they said they never received the parts. So, I did get ahold of somebody at the home warranty who said, "Well, the parts were sent out." I said, "Well, look, I'm in the middle here. These people say they weren't received, you say the parts were sent out." They said, "Okay. Well, we'll put in a new order in for the parts." That was probably six weeks ago and I haven't heard anything. I've tried to call back.

American Home Shield is great. I would recommend them. Recently, the dishwasher would not go through the cycle. The repairman had to put a control board on that. The other issue was there was an eye on the stove that had quit working. The repairman was wonderful.

I have a LiftMaster myQ and the logic board went out. I went through American Home Shield and the techs replaced the garage door, but didn't put a myQ in it or LiftMaster. They went with a Chamberlain. The garage door opens and closes like it's supposed to. However, it's tied to the security of my home. So at the end of the day, it wasn't compatible. I couldn't remotely open and close my garage door from a remote location.
I called and talked to a representative and they specifically said, "We've done our end of the bargain. It does its primary function. It opens and closes." I said, "It's not it." I said, "American Home Shield, their mission statement is to provide a compatible or if not better product if something doesn't work. I pay for that service. I pay for the professional opinion of you guys because I'm not a professional.”
Number One Garage Door Opener company came out the second time and they said, "We got to talk to American Home Shield. Sometimes they don't pay for the compatibility of the myQ." I said, "Do you have a myQ system?" He said, "Yes, we do. But American Home Shield goes with the basic models." I said, “I wouldn't have known that any difference had you not said something. Because had I known that when you came to install it, I would have stopped you. That's not my profession.”
I called back to talk to customer service. They merely told me it does its primary function. I asked to speak to a manager. He said, "I see both sides of that. Number one, we held up our obligation by it opens and closes." I said, "Yes." He said, "But I also see your side because it wasn't the same system that you had in there previously. We'll do a three-way call with the Number One Garage Door Company. We'll set it up. If they have one, we’ll have it switched out. Not a problem."
But, I'm still having to go through these people today. They were supposed to come back today. They never did. I contacted my ADT and alarm.com. They tried to shoot a signal to see if they can remotely do it from their location. It's not compatible. So my concerns are that now I want a garage door that's compatible with what I had before and I'm having this runaround to try to make that happen.

We live in a much older house and having American Home Shield provides peace of mind for us that we're not going to have to pay 1,000s of dollars out of pocket, that we can keep that and have a co-payment, and have somebody out to fix whatever is wrong. Plus, living in a rural community, sometimes it's not easy to find people to come and fix your problems. We used American Home Shield's service when the blower motor went out. They sent someone out and they replaced it. Everything's great. Our tech was a super nice guy. He came in, did his job, and left everything just like he found it. He had the parts on his truck so things went fairly smoothly.

The ice maker wasn't working. I called American Home Shield and their reps were okay. They sent Cooper Appliances, and the tech was excellent. In regards to when I signed up for my pool, AHS told me that the pool heaters were covered. I told them I had an electric Heatilator, and they told me it was covered. Then when they came out, the gentleman came and he said how much it would cost. American Shield came back and said that is not covered under my policy. They got to be more upfront with people that it all depends on what kind of heater you have. They gave me my $100 back for the service call, but I was under the impression that if something happened, it would be covered. That was part of my initial reasoning for going with them. Then I found out other companies would cover something like that and for cheaper rates than we're paying now.
I'm really considering after my year going with somebody else because of what is going on, especially with the garage door. The spring broke and I thought everything was covered. It turns out that I had to pay over $400 for the technician to do the work. They paid for the spring, but they didn't pay for the labor work. I'm really not happy with AHS. I'm gonna do my time with them and I'm gonna go elsewhere for that reason. I was misled. They said, "Oh, you didn't read your contracts?" I never got a contract delivered to my home. I can go online, but I don't want to go online. I want to read it. I want to see it in writing. I wouldn't recommend anybody to them. There are other companies out there that are cheaper and do better. They cover more at a cheaper price. I don't want anybody else to get suckered into what I got suckered into for a year. It's a year contract. So, I can't even get out of it if I wanted to.

The water in the toilet just kept running and running. The techs repaired something right then but they also had to replace the tank. With AHS, it's nice to not have to worry about the little things. Some things they fix but some things they don't. I thought my swimming pool was covered and it is but they're telling me I have to buy the grid that's at the back of it and that's $400. I was very disappointed in that. They said it was maintenance but it isn't because it's something that I have to do once in a great while.
Other than that, the only time I've ever been unhappy with a vendor was when I was having problems with the furnace. The tech was so busy trying to get me to buy a new furnace from him and was attempting nothing to fix what was wrong and kept giving me excuses. When I complained to his company, they sent another guy who didn't fix it either. I ended up getting another company.

The fan and the blower stopped blowing so the AC didn't even come on. You can hear the clicking noise. We called American Home Shield. When the techs came out, they said it was frozen up on the outside. There was no Freon. They fixed the part that holds the Freon to keep it cool. The techs were good to me. They did their job and left. Overall, AHS has great people. They have great customer service.

I called American Home Shield for an AC issue, and the representative I spoke with was great. The tech was very focused on his job and he got done really quickly. We didn't think the AC was cooling enough, and he put some Freon in it.

The motor of my pool was bad. I called in a claim and did the automatic thing with American Home Shield. The technicians that came were great and they replaced the motor. They just had to go to Tucson, pick something up, and bring it back. It was done fairly quickly.

My washing machine wouldn't spin. Something had worn out and the techs had to order parts. It took a little time but when the part came in, they came back and fixed the machine. I've been recommending AHS before I even got them because I heard so much good about them and so far, I haven't had any issues at all.

We used American Home Shield for a garbage disposal claim. I filed a claim with them, and they asked what the problem was. They got an in-network plumber. I scheduled with the plumber, and then it got taken care of. The plumber was nice enough. He got the job done. Overall, AHS met expectations.

We had a stoppage behind our washing machine, in the plumbing line. I like submitting a claim online with AHS because I tried to contact somebody on the phone and it took forever. But Wilcox came out within three hours.

When you have a home warranty, you are able to get your appliances fixed. The bottom of our dishwasher was filling up with water and it would leak out. It would throw a code and it wouldn't work. Techs came and they've been great. But now, the dishwasher is still filling up with water. I'll be calling them today.

Somebody had come out and indicated that the electronic motherboard of the oven needs to be replaced. But they no longer make that part, so the only thing I can really do at this point is to replace it. American Home Shield offered me to go shopping on their site to buy a new one with a certain budget. They also offered me cash in lieu. But I haven't decided yet.
The claims process is good. It's not that hard to use. Initially, I was making phone calls, and then it was easier to go online and put my request in. Then I got a contractor assigned to me and I could contact the contractor directly to make an appointment. Rather than waiting for them to reach out to me, I would reach out to them. Usually, I get an appointment that's reasonable. It seems like if you're more proactive, you get an appointment quicker. If you wait for the contractor to call you, they may call you when they feel like it.

Water was stuck in the washer. It was the same thing as the previous issue. I had a wonderful service and American Home Shield fixed it. They were nice about it and fixed it right away. The only thing I don't like is that the prices went up, like taxes. That's normal, but it hurts on my budget. But I got to deal with it. I'm paying monthly and I still have to pay when I call for service. Other than the service, I've been very happy. The times I have to call, the service is great. The people that come out call me before they come. And they come within the timeframe. So, the people they are using are awesome.

Having my warranty with them is easy and convenient. But some of the vendors are not so good. We have one we don't want to see again. Other than that, my experience has been great. I had a claim for a washing machine and everything went well.

I appreciate American Home Shield for the convenience of having someone come out to check the unit. The cost of them coming out is not a lot. I called them for the AC unit that was leaking. The technicians who came were on time, courteous, asked if I needed them to wear a mask before they walked in, and introduced themselves by name. One agent was being trained. The senior tech introduced the agent and explained that they were gonna be trained, walked me through what they were going to be doing and what part of the house they would need access to.
They reviewed everything, immediately saw something that was a concern and addressed it. They let me know they could repair it at the time. They showed me where the issue was on the inside of the house and the outside unit. They shared that because of the age of the unit, I will need to get a new unit. They followed up with me the next day to let me know what the estimate was and what the estimate included. The guy was great and I'm most likely gonna reach out to him when I'm ready to get a new unit. But it would be nice if American Home Shield could give me different heating and AC cooling companies in my area to where I can research and see which one I want to go with.

We've replaced our refrigerator, the washing machine and the air conditioner. We used American Home Shield fairly heavily. The biggest downside with using it is largely pandemic related. When our fridge went out, they didn't have anybody in the area to replace the fridge, so we could get a credit to go to Lowe's and find a fridge. The first 13 we looked at, they had a model out on the floor but weren't in stock. We’d gotten a $2,500 credit. But the fridge we ended up getting was 3,400. So, it hadn't caught up yet to cost and availability. That fridge needed to get repaired and it took three weeks because they had to order the parts.
The same thing was going on with the washing machine. It was almost a month. They spent almost $800 on the time it took to repair it and getting the parts but the brand new one we bought was 550. It doesn't make sense to spend more to repair something than it would cost to replace it. We ended up pulling it out and bought a new washer-dryer.

I called American Home Shield when I had something that broke. I had repairs done on a washing machine, an ice maker and my garage door. I got upset one time because they didn’t really help me my air conditioning. I ended up paying for it myself. Nowadays, service is not what it used to be and there are so many things that you used to get before. I've enjoyed the technicians that come out. You can ask them questions and go into detail explaining it to you. But I haven't found that with American Home Shield. I see the commercial where they fix everything and that hasn't worked that way for me. So, I've gotten disgusted with AHS over the time that I've been with them. I hope it improves.

I live on an island, and what a lot of companies miss is that because of the geographical location and the situations with island life, we can't rely on the local professionals. I have to rely on American Home Shield to cast a broader net and get more contractors available so that I don't have to wait. I have had a couple of claims with them, and they were prompt. However, I recently had a plumbing issue and a roofing issue that happened at the same time, and it's been seven weeks since I first got the claim started. There's also been a lack of response coming on the customer service end. I wish it was different. Prior to getting the plumbing and roofing issues resolved, I'd had really good experiences with them, so I wrote a review that's out there now giving them really a glowing report.
With the roofing, it was supposed to be a repair of a leak. I ended up having to get a contractor to replace the roof and even though replacing the roof would take care of the leak, I was denied coverage. That was a major disappointment. I was told it would be covered by three different people I spoke with, then three days ago, I received a letter from the insurance that my claim was denied. That was very misleading, and it doesn't look like I can appeal it or do anything more at this point. It's the typical insurance kind of a bait-and-switch.
With the plumbing issue, we had their plumber come out. We had a leak going on, so I had to do some prep work before they would replace the toilet, then there was a medical emergency with that plumber. It's been three weeks now, and they've not been able to get anyone out here to install our toilet. So, that's been another big frustration. Overall, the follow-through has been poor on American Home Shield's end of it, and they need to be more responsible in customer response. Still, their service has been much better than the other two home warranty programs I've been involved with. I'm fairly satisfied with it.

I had some plumbing and appliance issues, but with the appliance, the contractor American Home Shield gave me said they'd take 24 hours, and then the contractor took three days to come to the house which caused some water damage to my wall. I asked the plumber about it, and the plumber said that American Home Shield will not pay for my wall.

A duct had come loose and my air conditioner stopped putting cold air into the home. Service people fixed it in just a few minutes and everything worked fine. I was very satisfied. Since I have American Home Shield, I have somebody to call if something tears up. I'm on a fixed budget and I can't afford to buy a new refrigerator, washer, dryer, freezer, or air conditioner. But I can afford to make the monthly payments.

Our dishwasher worked one day, then the next day, it didn't. We filled it up, did everything we were supposed to do and pressed the "on" button. I looked back later and the dishes hadn't been washed. I poked around and tried to press some other buttons, and then read the manual. At that point, I thought, “Uh-oh, I don't know what's going on here.” So I went online and called American Home Shield in. The techs from Sears were very friendly, and they quickly figured out what was wrong. The motor was burnt out, and they had to order a new one. It took 10 days to 2 weeks for it to come in, but that was nobody's fault. All in all, I was quite happy.

I filed three claims with American Home Shield within a week. The claim for the air conditioning unit was a wonderful experience. The repairman was terrific. He said it was a bunch of wires, and whatever it was, he fixed it. He was up on the roof for at least an hour. He couldn’t be nicer. For the pool claim, we're still waiting on the pool heater. But the contractor was great too. I would recommend them in a second. There was something wrong electrically and they said they don't handle that. I had to hire an electrician and they have just fixed that. The pool company said the part needed to be replaced. That's what they're going back to tell the owners. The owner called me even yesterday because he knows the pool is the most important thing to me.
However, I'm on a little bit of a toss-up with the garbage disposal guy. I’ve used him before. He said it's electrical work underneath. We ended up getting a garbage disposal. I bought a new one on Amazon because he said, “We don't do that kind of work.” I ended up paying $225 for the garbage disposal. The thing that aggravates me is that I get the Philippines when I call and they try to get these American names.

RR HVAC came and fixed our air conditioner. They were great. A service technician also came out to fix the washing machine, but it was a problem with the pipe in the wall so he wasn't able to fix it. We're gonna have to have somebody else come out and clear the pipe that's in the wall. We have another guy coming out today to do a dryer vent cleaning. He's with ProService Connect. So far, we're satisfied with American Home Shield.

I sent in a claim online when the refrigerator stopped working. Their website is very user-friendly. I got the name of the contractor and their phone number. They came out and cleaned the coil on the back of the refrigerator. It was excellent. American Home Shield has always been quick to respond. They've always sent out reliable contractors for any issues I've had. When I forgot my contract number, I was able to log on to their website, easily found the information I needed, and I submitted my claim.

The was very nice. He said that my hot water tank that was making a popping sound was not broken. I told him, "I don't want to come home and have my basement flooded. Tell American Home Shield, if they won't pay for the whole thing, I'll pay something of it so we can get it fixed.” The guy said he was going to call them that day and I have not heard anything from anyone.

The AC unit stopped cooling and it came up with a fault code on the inside display. I was told the name of the group the claim was with and they reached out to me. They told me the name of the service technician who would be coming and when they were gonna come. I got good service. They replaced a capacitor that failed.

At first, we were noticing that the clicker was not opening the garage door and there were two contractors that ended up coming out to fix it. The first one just looked at it and didn't attempt to do anything. He said that our clicker appear to be damaged, like ran over by a car, which was completely false. So, Judy, the homeowner, made a complaint to American Home Shield and continued to complain about them and got another company to come out. The second contractor was a lot better. They were awesome. The guy looked at our opener and saw the model of it, and saw how old it was. He said it needed to be replaced. They were old and terrible units. American Home Shield is good and reliable.

I like American Home Shield’s service. However, there was a plumbing leak and that messed up the ceiling of another room. And it took them almost two months to get that fixed. They kept saying that the person that did it did not send the right information. I called the person who did it and that person said it was sent several times. So, it was a miscommunication. The AC is heating now but the day that the tech from Air Max Heating worked on it, it was cooling.

I did a claim to American Home Shield for the hot water tank. There was no hot water. The technician was very professional. He had to come back out because he had to order a whole new water tank. AHS also replaced a few appliances in our home. We really haven't had any issues with them.
