Most of the time AHS is good. But they were really horrible to us when it came to our refrigerator being fixed because they kept having someone come out. The tech wouldn't fix it because when he comes out, it works. We told them every time that it works intermittently, and we don't know why. We talked to another refrigerator person who said it sounds like we know what we're talking about because if something works and then doesn't work, it's usually some loose connection. We paid $100 but we never got a text. The techs came out twice and one time, they came out and the refrigerator worked, so they just walked away. The tech was really rude to my husband and he wouldn't even leave a receipt saying he was out. That was very upsetting.
We asked AHS, “Why can't you send another company out?". They said they couldn't and they had to send the same people. I said, “That's ridiculous. So, they're working for you, they're not doing the job, and you're gonna keep sending them out? That's stupid.” I don't like to pay $100 for something and then find out that if it doesn't work, AHS is not gonna send a new person who might be more professional and also maybe more knowledgeable.

The contractor checked my AC unit. They said that the air needed to be replaced, and then they came with the pricing to fix it or to replace it. They never told me that they could fix it, but I found out that it could be fixed. I went with a replacement part. The house is hot so I tried to find out myself what was the next step. I called the contractor and they said that the actual decision has to come from Home Shield. I called Home Shield and they said they were gonna send me a quote. As soon as they sent me the quote, I made a payment, and I sent the payment.
On Friday, I didn't hear anything from anybody. I called Home Shield on Saturday and they said the department is closed. I called on Monday and they couldn't help me. After Home Shield said that they were looking for the part, I called the contractor and they said that they have the part and they have an appointment for this coming Wednesday. It's not good that I had to wait and I had to be the one in the middle. I don't mind doing it, but American Home Shield should at least tell me that I'm the one that needs to follow up.

American Home Shield’s website is very good. It’s awesome. The AC was not cooling at all and the techs changed the thermostat. The service was done in a timely manner. It's a rental property and the renter said things are getting cooler.

The air conditioner wasn't cooling right and causing a drain clog. It took less than a week for the technician to come out. But it's the third time we've called on it. The technicians were pretty pleasant, but it was more of a Band-Aid. This third time was a charm. It'd be ideal if the consumer had the ability to pick and choose what contractor they use.

The service has been good. I don't have to worry about trying to find somebody last minute. I do the claim submission online and it rolls through. They usually get a tech out within 48 hours and usually, the problem is resolved the first time they come out.

I had American Home Shield send somebody out to take a look at some electrical issue we were having in our basement. A couple of the outlets weren't working. I explained what was going on. It took five minutes, and the tech figured out right away what was going on. And as it turned out, it had nothing to do with an issue, it was more of flipping a switch.

The contractor came out to fix my heat pump for the 20th time. The same company, C&R Plumbing comes out every year because they can't fix it and they just rig it up 'til the next time. When I made the claim, I told AHS not to send them out but they said it was the only company they had. That's a lie because I fussed about it last year, they sent a guy named Bob. I've had nothing but trouble with American Home Shield doing what they're supposed to be doing.
I used to love AHS. I've had them for years and recommended them when I sold my house. I've lived in this house for almost two years and still haven't got my air conditioner fixed because they keep sending the same people out. I got Freon put in my air conditioner last year by another company that they sent. The tech said he put Freon in it. I called him after he left and told him it still wasn't working. He said, “Oh, give it time.” But I haven't heard anything since. I complain to AHS and they don't do a thing about it. They just want your money. I shouldn't have to pay to keep having these people come out. That's over $130 every time I call for the same thing. That's not what their contract says.

I had my electrical work done by American Home Shield and that was fine. I did this claim online. When I was looking for a phone number for them, the one that I found wasn't working and it sent me to a different company. That aside, the electrical issue was fixed in 20 minutes. When I talked with American Home Shield about my ductwork, that was not a good experience. When I asked them to send a different contractor out here for a second opinion, they refused to do it. They took the tech guy's word that came here. I canceled the warranty and I would tell others to find someone else.
Thank you for sharing your feedback Shelley. I'd like to apologize for not meeting your expectations. Please know that our team will be using your feedback to prevent this from happening again in the future.

We have a house that's 2,750 square feet, and put two air conditioning units in when they built it. One runs the bedrooms, and the other runs the living room, basement, kitchen and my office. The back air condition unit for the bedrooms went out and just blew hot air. So, I called American Home Shield and scheduled an appointment, and looked back through my emails that I had received from AHS and I said, "I wonder if I can still get my tune-up on the AC unit for the second one." And they said I could still do that. I had to pay the other $100 for that.
The contractor was the same one I had out two years ago to work on the first AC unit. And they were professional and did a good job. They were here within a day and a half. This time wasn't very quick getting out here. It was a week out. The techs checked the good one out first and they fixed the other one. It was a capacitor. Both of the units ended up being just a small piece the techs had. The first one didn't have it on his truck, but somebody else met him that day and brought it to him. And the second one had it with him. Both units are working fine now.

The only thing I'm upset about is that they had told me the warranty would cover all of my things, including if I had a computer that had a problem. The other day when I went to create an account, the rep said that's not true. But I'm still not dissatisfied with AHS. Most of the time, my experience with the techs has been good except for one time when they said they came but they never did. I'm still waiting to get refunded for that, because they never showed up and nobody has contacted me about that either. The rep said she put a claim in but that was not the truth. Other than that, customer service is very quick and AHS gets a contractor out really fast.

I had a claim for my faucet. It took the techs a whole weekend to get here. That was a bit annoying 'cause my kitchen was flooding. We purchased a new faucet instead of it being covered through AHS. 'Cause it'd take us 7 to 10 days to get one. The technician installed it. He was great. If AHS could get stuff that's needed faster, that would be a great thing. Other than that, it's great to go through Home Shield than having to fork out hundreds of dollars up front.

They put me in contact with Rentz Residential. They called me the next day. They came and had the issue resolved within two days. Based off what symptoms I told them, they had it diagnosed before they even got there. And the guy just did a short test to confirm that was what it was and he fixed the parts very quickly. AHS has excellent service. Use them.

I tried to get ahold of American Home Shield's customer service rep the other day when I did the report and it said it was an hour wait on the phone. This has been the first time there was a real problem. AHS could get better contractors. Out of the three contractors, two of them seem very good, and the other one has a terrible rating, which is Consolidated Heating & Air, who didn't even bother calling us. I had to get ahold of them after three days. We were not very happy with them and they only had a 3-star rating. My wife got a call yesterday afternoon from Same Day Air who are the ones who said, "We're sending it back because we can't get to it for two weeks." And now, my AHS home page says they are still assigned. But we don't even have anybody who knows they're assigned to do this. Also, AHS needs more customer service people just so you could talk to one. We were paying $35 a month when we first started, and now, it's 70.
I'm so sorry for the problems you've been experiencing. Please reach out to us at consumeraffairs@ahs.com so we can discuss further.

My first year with AHS was awesome but this past year has been horrendous as soon as I renewed. Their deductible has gone up from 75 to 85 without any notification and that wasn't what I agreed to. I agreed to the same terms as the first one. I also couldn't get ahold of anybody ever. I've spent an hour on the phone every time I call and speak to somebody from India n a voice message deal. They read off the screen and they said they could help me, that they'd have to escalate it, but then no one ever called back. I've told them to call me back four times.
Then, when you call, they read back the same conversation you've already had. They also couldn't transfer me and said they were going to write an email. Then, they made me stand on the phone while they were writing their email. There was no listening or understanding. They always say that they reviewed my contract but I don't even have a copy of my own contract, so how do I even know what's in the contract? It's ridiculous. So, it's like I paid them money for a warranty but nothing's ever done, and I feel like I wasted my money.
On my recent claim for my AC, there was supposed to be three options. They were supposed to be able to pay for the repair and I was supposed to go to get a second opinion. Or I was supposed to take the cash value. I called them to take this cash value and they said that they couldn't do anything about it. They said my claim was pending and not even approved yet. So, it's been miserable. I just got off the phone with A-US, the contractor that they sent out, to just come fix the AC, and I'm going to have to pay $2,200 out of pocket to have them fix it. All in all, I would tell other to go with somebody else, not AHS.
Are you still in need of assistance?

Things have been good. I tried somebody else and they weren't as thorough as American Home Shield, so I came back to them. Recently, my air conditioning didn't keep the place cool. The technician was very knowledgeable. The service call was on a Wednesday or Thursday. And AHS said that the technician would get back to me within 24 hours. They did. But what they did is on Friday, they called and just left a message and said, “Your appointment was scheduled for Monday. Somebody would call you on Sunday for a time.” But they didn't even say that. They just said, “Your appointment was on Monday.” So, I called them back and said, “Somebody just scheduled the appointment for Monday. They didn't call me. They didn't do anything. They didn't give me a time.” And they said, “We booked the appointment. And then we'll call you. The technician will call you the day before to set up a time.”
The fortunate thing is I'm retired, so I don't work. But if I had a job, I don't know what kind of person can have a job, and the technician would call and say, “I'm gonna come see you on Monday. I'll give you a time on Sunday.” If I was working, it would give me no time to plan a work schedule to ask for a dayoff or maybe I could get off early. He called me up on Sunday and said, “I'll be there between 7:00 and 11:00.” That wasn't convenient for a consumer that had a job.
I've had some back and forth with them over the years on some of their repairs where they've had to do A, B, C, D, E, F, G, before we got to Z. And sometimes, they spend more money and consumer time trying to nickel-and-dime things before they replace it than to just go ahead and replace it. We had a dishwasher a few years ago that leaked. AHS sent a technician out six times before they redid the dishwasher, which was a pain in the butt. Because every time the technician came out, somebody has to take off of work. Somebody has to be there. And they gotta schedule this. It was that back-and-forth feedback that I had to end up going through. Other than that, there’s a benefit of knowing that I have somebody that would come out and do some repairs.

My pool was losing water every time I would use the pool pump. I rapidly received a return call from the pool company and I explained what I was experiencing. I also told him I had an issue that wouldn't be covered that I'd like to see a bid on. They made arrangements to come out and make the assessment of what was going on. They had to get a part and come back out. But they got it in before the holiday which was phenomenal. I've never had a problem with American Home Shield. They're very simple.
The only challenge I ever have is with what's covered. Other than that, the pool company was phenomenal. It was a husband and wife duo and they were awesome. The wife knew exactly what I was talking about and understood everything I said. They replaced the part that had an issue and I've had no problem since then. So I'm very happy. I definitely recommend AHS. It's one of those things that it pays for itself. It has covered many things.

For the most part, service has been good and AHS was efficient. This last time, though American Home Shield was fine, the communication with their contractor A&E was terrible. There was nobody I could talk to. They ordered parts on a Monday, and the appointment was set for Friday. By Thursday, I hadn't received any parts. was trying to call them and say, "Do you still need to come out?" I didn't wanna lose the appointment because I want the washer fixed. But there's no way to contact the contractor. You either accept the appointment or you cancel it. This went on for days. There were text messages and an email now and then, but not a human being. Eventually, they couldn't fix the washer so AHS gave a $500 credit. It doesn't cover the whole thing, but it's better than nothing.
Wow! Thanks so much for your feedback. We appreciate your business.

The people that AHS sends out are insured, honest, and reliable. But I pay them every month, then when I called for a service, it cost $75 and I didn't like that. I called them on a Friday because I was having an air conditioning issue where my house wasn't cooling evenly. They sent a person out to work on it on Monday and he fixed it. He went up in the attic and rerouted the flume. Then, I was having some vibration in the air conditioning system, so he went out to the compressor and tightened some things. He also put some wedge Styrofoam in some areas so it wouldn't vibrate and he tightened some things in the unit in the attic. Since then, the AC has been working great.

My experience with American Home Shield has been good. When our roof was leaking, I looked at AHS and called them. They sent somebody. My experience with that guy too was very good. He came, looked at it, fixed it. We requested the ducts to be worked on a few months ago. Somebody came. He said there was a misunderstanding about what they cover and don't cover. We explained what we wanted. The guy said, "AHS doesn't cover this. But since I'm here, let me look at what you guys really need." Because we thought we needed to clean the ducts. The guy went up, looked at it and told us, "Your ducts are clean." I've seen situations where that kind of contractor would come by and say, "You have to do this." The guy said, "You don't need to waste money on hiring somebody to come and clean it for you."
I had faucets that were leaking in the bathroom. I called AHS. The customer service was very good. They were always very helpful when I reached out to them. AHS is good with telling me that somebody would call. They would give me the information of the person that would call. Somebody would call from that company or text. It's always within one day or two days. The tech came, looked at the faucets, and told me he needed to buy some parts at Home Depot. Came back, got it fixed.

I had a problem with the sewer line and I didn't have any ability to use any bathrooms. When I made a claim, AHS was unresponsive. Three days later, I was still trying to get ahold of the plumber. They finally reassigned someone but in the meantime, I had to hire my own plumber to come. I called around and found someone that came out the same day to help to at least alleviate the problem to where they at least restored services again.
There was a lot of back and forth because AHS have protocols involved. They ended up sending people out that refused to scope the plumbing to see what was actually going on and didn't want to see video evidence. They ran a snake instead and drew their own conclusion from that. When they ran the snake, there were some evidence of roots and that automatically disqualified everything. It didn't matter that the pipe collapsed and that it didn't have anything to do with the roots. So that was not so good. They walked away and said it wasn't anything that they covered. AHS ended up not doing anything. In the end, I received a sizeable settlement from my homeowners insurance that took care of the problem. But AHS should have fixed the plumbing because the homeowners insurance didn't fix the plumbing part of it. They fixed everything that it damages.
Other than that, AHS has been great. If there's just regular normal stuff happening, they're a good company for that and that's why I kept them. I've had AC maintenance cycle done and had the AC repaired recently. It broke down on a weekend, so I had to wait for service until Monday. But on early Monday, the guy from Hansen Mechanical came out because I left a message on a Saturday explaining that it was an urgent situation. I told him that I have an 88-year-old in the house who's in hospice care, and that I've got fans to try to deal with it, wetting her down every hour and so forth to keep her cool. So, they responded to that and the AC was fixed before noon. The issue ended up being the condenser, so he replaced it.

My AC was blowing, but it wasn't hot or cold. We submitted the request to American Home Shield on a Friday. And the contractor came out Monday. They did whatever they did with the machine. Now we have cold air. Sometimes it takes a little longer than what we would’ve liked for the repairs. Also, sometimes the repairs would be a lot more costly had we not just had to pay the deductible. And it just makes it more affordable to fix things. It has been worth it. I recommend AHS to everyone.

My Kenmore dishwasher needed to be recycled and to have some buttons pushed that I didn't know about. Not long after I submitted my claim with AHS, the tech came out and he was amazing. He was very nice, and he knew exactly what he was doing and what buttons to push. He was a very nice gentleman and because he was so new to this country, he had a place on his cellphone that I talked to and his phone translated it to his language. He understood some of what I said but just to back it up and verify it, he used his translating phone, which I found fascinating.

We had a plumbing issue with our septic lift pump behind our house that pumps the sewage to the street. American Home Shield called one guy. He came and left, and never came back. I called American Home Shield again, and they sent a second plumber out the next day. They resolved the problem. But it was a mess for about a week and a half. We've had American Home Shield for about six years and the premium keeps going up, up, up. It has more than doubled in price from when my wife and I bought the house. But their service has improved. There was a time when we first had it, I would be on the phone for 45 minutes before somebody can take my call. Now, customer service has improved. So, that's a good thing. But sometimes when I call in to get a service, I cannot understand 90% of what the person is saying. They're foreigners. They're always friendly and they want to help, but I have a hard time understanding them.

I'm really upset with American Home Shield. I've been trying to get my oven fixed. It's leaking gas and I haven't had an oven since May. I have put in all kinds of requests and they've been sending people out. But it's not getting fixed. The first repair person told AHS that it was not repairable and they should get a new stove. But, they started ordering parts. They sent a specialist and for him to get the parts, it took three weeks. He repaired it but when I used the oven for the 4th of July, it was still seeping out gas.
I had a supervisor call me yesterday and they all said the same thing: “We're gonna get somebody out there.” I've called the gas company and done everything I could possibly do. We even had the bath cut off and I had to pay an additional fee for the plumbers through AHS to come. They said, “You gotta get the person for this oven to come back ‘cause that's where the gas smell is coming from.” I had to pay the $125 and the reps said unfortunately, they couldn't reimburse me for that. In the other times I've used AHS, I've never had this problem. I am very angry.
Thanks for bringing this issue to our attention. Please know that I'd like to look into this further. Send your contact information to the email sent to you and I'll be back in touch with you soon.

With the exception of when it's a holiday, American Home Shield have always come through in a pinch. I've been very pleased. When I had a sink stoppage in the kitchen, I did the claims process online and then Chase from Patriot Plumbing came out. I've used Patriot Plumbing before. They're the guys that normally come out when I screw something up.
Chase has been out on occasion. He's always very friendly and professional. He always presents himself well. The fix must have taken all of eight minutes. I knew what the problem was. I knew it had to be snaked, and he came in. He said, “All right. We're gonna put the P-trap back on because that way, we can fill it with water and we'll know when I get the clog.” Otherwise, if there's no water and they’d have to put it back together again, and then try and run the water. So he put it back together very quickly, and filled it with water. The clog wasn't too far down. All he did was drop the snake down and did his thing, and bingo! It was done.

Sometimes American Home Shield is really good, and then sometimes they're difficult to deal with. But the process on all occasions is very slow. In 2019, I had a leaky water agent and Home Shield replaced it. It was done pretty quick. But then recently, it leaked, and it was still under warranty. Home Shield wasn't too helpful in the whole process. With what I paid them to do, I could have done it myself and pretty much did a lot of it myself. But Plymwr Plumbing was very receptive. They had to change it out. The additional costs were out of my pocket, which I found out later that it was something that I wasn’t supposed to pay. But both of the technicians were great. Jimmy did the assessment and then Matt fixed it. Matt explained everything to me and helped out a lot. So I didn't have any problems with the plumbing company. But it was the going back and forth with American Home Shield. We called them six times to get it all sorted out.

The air condition at the second floor of the house wasn't working. It was just blowing hot air. I couldn't get through American Home Shield. But both the website and their response were good this time. However, AHS should let us pick our vendors. The contractor called me. And it was done within two days. They diagnosed the unit. But they couldn't find anything wrong with it. It took 15 minutes. Once we restarted the system again, it stopped a couple of days later. It blew cold air. But it stopped blowing hot air. It's weather related at this point. If it reoccurs, I would call the contractor back out again.

The master bath was not draining and the toilet seat had a leak in it. I sent in a claim and the contractor came out the next day. They were able to schedule with one of my kids to meet them out there. She mentioned that the tech kept telling her what he was doing. Everything was good. My only exception is the individual forgot to put the drain cover back in the master shower. But it was nothing more than putting a couple of screws. So I took care of it myself. It wasn't a big deal.

The last person that was sent here by American Home Shield was wonderful. It was an air conditioning claim and he checked it and did everything he could from the inside. He looked at the filters and everything was good. But we had one incident that wasn't good. The guy that came did a lousy job and we still had to pay. AHS should have reimbursed us or put it down for a free job but they didn't give us anything. It was difficult dealing with them that way. Other than that, we're happy with them. They've been okay.

Recently, my dishwasher wasn't draining and the buttons weren't operating properly. I had two different techs and they were both excellent. The first one looked at the dishwasher and cleared the clog. But then my dispenser wasn't working properly. So, he had to order a new one and he said that his office would call within the week to have another tech come. They had the replacement within two days and they were back within a week. We've been pretty happy with American Home Shield up to this point. We just had an air conditioner replaced and we ended up paying the people that came $5,200. I was a little taken aback by that amount. Also, American Home Shield has contracted with some people that didn't look very professional. Some of them came and looked like they just crawled out of bed. Their clothes were not suitable. It may have been a uniform, but it was shirts out and not clean. Their work was not good quality either. I've let American Shield know about that.

American Home Shield has been pretty nice. I like the warranty. I've been able to use it several times on some items that had broken. So, I really enjoyed it. I had a contractor come out last week and they fixed a leak I had under my sink. But then I noticed yesterday that the leak started back. So, I ended up turning that water off and called American Home Shield. I told them they need to open that claim back up, and they did. They're coming back out tomorrow.
The only thing is that when I have problems with my air conditioner, I normally end up paying out of pocket because it takes so long for American Home Shield to get somebody out here. My AC went out yesterday so I put in a claim, and whoever they gave the job to said they can't get out here till Monday. But we're gonna have a heat index over 100 degrees starting tomorrow. So, I ended up calling a local AC place and they're gonna come out here today. But that's out of my pocket.
Wow! Thanks so much for your feedback. We appreciate your business.

So it was a good experience.
The only problem is that I've been waiting since June for the air conditioner to get fixed. I called the last company that did the work, and the gentleman said, "Okay. I'll get back to you," but never got back to me. So I had been waiting for American Home Shield to call me. The young lady said that one part came in and that she's waiting for the next part. When the tech came out for the AC, he identified it as being just a little low on Freon. He fixed it. It was a great experience. He was informative about the job. He explained things in layman’s terms. Overall, American Home Shield is great. However, they turn out volume calls to these organizations. So the guy that was supposed to fix our refrigerator never fixed it. It just keeps on doing the same thing. So sometimes the repairmen do shoddy work because there's so many volume calls.
There had been a couple of times when American Home Shield didn't pay for the repairs because they only pay the contracted company a set rate. So when they come out, they come up with other fees and things of that nature. We were considering leaving American Home Shield because of that. It seemed like we would pay the $75 service fee, but the actual company would come up with additional fees, like $1,200. But this last experience was positive.

American Home Shield is still dealing with one of my air conditioners right now. They're trying to go through the approval process because it needs more work. But the claims process is pretty simple. I just go online, put a claim in, and then they will assign a vendor usually right away. But there's one vendor that I don't care for that they use, and I got him this time on the air conditioner. My air conditioner was broken, and it took them about five days. But they told me if I pay them $150, they'll come out earlier. So, I did. I ended up paying $250 because I have to pay a $100 deductible to American Home Shield just to get them to come out earlier.
The experience that I had with the vendor that came out for my dryer was horrible. It took a month to get my dryer back. The guy called the repairman, but instead of coming out, he asked me what the error said. So, I told him. Then he ordered a part and when they came to replace it, it was the wrong part. So, they had to order the part again. But when they came out, it was the wrong part again. This happened four times and it took about five weeks for them to fix the issue. I had two more parts shipped to my house. It took the guy an hour and a half to finally get my dryer to run. I called American Home Shield and complained. I told them, “I don't want these people coming to my house again for anything because they took five weeks and kept getting the wrong parts.” So American Home Shield needs to listen to their customers about the vendors they use because some of them are not that great.

Because I had my family and we didn't have any air conditioning in the house. South Texas was getting over 100 degrees, so that helped out. The tech from Bertech Heating and Cooling was great, efficient, punctual, fast and very informative. He went outside and checked the outside unit. And walked me through the process and didn't mind that I was there. Everything's back to normal operations. It was a great company to work with. I've been a long-time customer of AHS in different homes. Their service has always been good and top-notch. The only thing that I don't think American Home Shield is appropriate for is a 10-year or younger home. But anything older than that, it's very appropriate. We had a washing machine drain that was plugged. The tech came out and tried to run a snake through it and put some chemicals through it. But it didn't seem to work. He suggested that he'd come back. And this time, it was gonna be $1,000 to use a water pressure machine on it, where he was gonna blow through the line. I asked him, "This is a washing machine line. It's PVC pipe. I don't know if it's gonna handle that." He said, "It will, and it'll solve the problem” for $1,000.
I went in and I ran a little water through this washer to see what would happen. True enough, it drained. It was fine. So I called them. I said, "I’m canceling an appointment that we have." The lady said, "Okay. I have no problem. You haven't paid for it yet." But I probably would have canceled that anyway whether the drain had worked or not. Because we were moving, selling the house, and I didn't feel like spending $1,000 on a drain. That was a lot of money.

Then when the workman gets here, they're actually not very good, but that only happened maybe twice over the years. Most of the time, the workmen that they send are pretty good.
We had a repair on a dishwasher not too long ago. The guy that came out explained what was wrong with the dishwasher. He said that the fix was probably not going to last long and that he suspected that within the next year we would have a completely broken-down dishwasher that couldn't be fixed and would need to get a new one, but he had fixed it so that it’s been working so far. American Home Shield covered the issues that we've had. The other day, we had a new wax seal put on a toilet and we weren't sure if that was covered or not. We called them and asked. They said, “Yes, it is covered.” A guy came out and did it, and it's been fine. AHS seems to be doing a pretty good job.
We appreciate the fantastic review and are glad we could be of service. If you have any further needs or questions, please reach out to us again.
Sincerely,

It was super easy to navigate the website of AHS. It has my information. I logged in and then I said what my problem was. I went down to plumbing. I said my faucets were leaking. I didn't know that two faucets are one unit, so I said, "It's two faucets," thinking that it was two different problems. I got a call the next day the Fourth of July from whatever plumbing contractor and the tech came out on the 4th and the tech fixed it. The tech was a nice guy. He knocked on the door and I have a security system so I could see who he was.
My left handle had a bigger problem than the right handle. He had to take the handle off and he had to replace the washer because it was completely deteriorated because I have hard water where I live. But when the tech replaced it, he may have done it too tight because now I don't have any water pressure in my shower. He's got to come back out and adjust that water pressure a little bit. I reached out the next day and they said, "Okay, we'll be out."
I've been with AHS for six years now. I had one plumbing issue that they couldn't deal with. It was a leak in a pipe. But when I had a refrigerator that produced ice and it froze up, they had somebody come right out in 48 hours. The tech had to replace a component and it got replaced right away. If my washer's not draining properly, somebody comes out right away. Or my dryer's off-kilter, somebody comes out. I've had them come out for numerous things and it's always worked well. I'm very appreciative because I'd rather pay a $100 deductible than pay $400 to a plumber or $400 to an electrician. My hot water heater went out in October and the plumbing company that came out, I only paid $750 instead of 2,000. So, that was a big deal. AHS does what I need it to do and it's not expensive too. I'm pleased with AHS.

AHS did well by me several years ago. I owned a home in Delaware and I had American Home Shield. It's a little questionable now. There was some change from the last time we had them. Number one, there's a service charge now. $100 you put down every time you call and request something. Number two, I requested rekeying service and they came out. They said, "You have different kinds of locks, double locks. So, we're gonna have to charge something else." Not only did they get my $100 service fee, but they also charged me $800, to rekey everything. That was not good. Considering changing companies or getting a better explanation of what I should expect on these calls. If my AC is making a lot of noise, I don't see why that couldn't be something that could be covered. What it needs to do? Blow up or stop functioning before somebody comes out and does something?

This is the second time I have done it. The contractors that American Home Shield use are very prompt. My air wasn't cooling. I submitted the claim online on a Saturday and the people came Monday. I don't like calling people because I got to stay on hold. AHS had their website categorized where if it's electrician or plumbing, it's separated and have a lot of things to choose from. And I could just choose from it. So, the website is user-friendly. And the turnaround time is quick. I have done it on a Friday, and people have contacted me the same day. I was shocked because it was a holiday at Tuesday. I didn't think nobody was working, but they came on. And they were there at 12:00.

I like AHS because if anything needs to be repaired or something, I have somewhere to go and I don't have to search for information myself. They're usually really good about letting me know who's coming and what kind of service it would be for. I like being able to have one direct company I can contact. I am very satisfied with their service. They usually have a quick turnaround time and there's a lot of services that they cover that some companies don't always cover.
I had a shower nozzle that wasn't working. AM PM Plumbing came out and replaced a part that goes inside it to make it turn on and off. I submitted this claim online and I like doing the website because it's faster. I don't have to stay on hold and it gives me the option to describe what the issue is. I like the ease of doing it online. Also, I liked the tech. He described what he needed to do and what was done and he was in and out real quick.

But American Home Shield is like an insurance policy. You pay for it and hope you never need it, but if you do, you hope that it will cover whatever needs to be done. So, I have it just in case. My refrigerator's switches for the crushed ice and water no longer worked. They wouldn't push in. So, I was stuck with just getting crushed ice and I couldn't get water out. The tech had to order the part, came back and did that in a timely manner.
I had one problem that was never settled to my satisfaction. I have a mobile home. So, the tech moved the inside vents. They were 18 inches from the wall. So, I had him move them closer to the wall. And he said, "No problem." He went underneath the house and tried to connect them and he said that the ductwork was rusted out and that he could not get a connection to them. So, I called American Home Shield because they would repair or replace ductwork. The people they had come out, one person said, "They are rusted. They need to be replaced." Another person came out and said, "No, this workmanship from the contractor--" because they were underneath and trying to connect them and they couldn't.
They couldn't connect them because they were rusty and so brittle. There were a bunch of pinhole types in them where the rust had eaten through and there were bigger holes like a size of a quarter. But AHS said, "Oh, okay. So, we're not gonna do anything with them." So, I had to pay for that replacement to the ductwork myself because they refused to do it because their people said, "Oh, it's poor quality workmanship," when it was rusted. AHS gets the lowest-paid people. If it's something like on my refrigerator, it doesn't matter. But with my ductwork, it cost me almost 11,000 to get that repaired. It should have been covered under warranty but they refused to do it.

I just finished submitting a claim with American Home Shield for a garage door torsion spring that broke in half. The contractor fixed it. The tech seemed knowledgeable and quick. When he came, he said it's not covered. I showed him the contract. So, he took a picture of it. And he installed the torsion spring. But after the repairs were done, AHS called me back and told me that it wasn't covered. But I have a contract that they sent me that says it is covered. I said, “I'm not paying $200 out of pocket when the contract clearly states it's covered.” They said the contract they sent me is for the renewal. So I said, "Why would you send me a complete contract if it's for a renewal?" If I knew it wasn't covered, I wouldn't call for a claim. I explained that to the girl, and she said, "That makes sense." They said they would just hold off on the claim until my new policy renews and charge then. So, they made it right.
The only thing I wish AHS would do is instead of just assigning me a company is give me a list of companies. Because some of these companies that they send are from far away. So, the scheduling is always off. AC Overhead is two hours away from where I'm at. Other than that, AHS still took care of whatever I needed taken care of.
Thanks Enrique. We're thrilled to hear that you were satisfied with our services. Your feedback is appreciated, and we look forward to helping you again.

I submitted a claim with American Home Shield for my air conditioner. The contractor had come out. At first, the company tried to get it replaced, but they just kept fixing a bunch of stuff. It took a while to get it finally complete from beginning to end. They had put something in backwards. But they got the ac back to working cold. Austin Heating & Air had good technicians. There was some communication in the beginning. The receptionist were more the ones with the attitude versus the other guys. They would cancel me as a customer because I was confused. And they said, “You know what? I'm gonna call AHS and just cancel your ticket. And you can go somewhere else.” But I didn't wanna start over. So, I bit my tongue and just apologized if I was in the wrong and tried to move forward. Because I was already a couple of repairs in.
Once the summer started again, the ac would work good in the lower heats. But once it started to get the 100s or 90s, it wouldn't keep the house cold. So, I reached back out to send the contractor back over. I'm waiting for an estimate, but I got approved for a replacement. Hopefully, that's good news for me. And just moving forward, I just gotta cover the cost of the crane, which I don't know how much yet. I would have hiccups with any insurance company. But at the end of the day, I've been taken cared of.

I've had American Home Shield for a long time. And I would not not recommend them. I never had a bad experience, with the exception of the one-time way back, but they corrected it. And everything is hunky-dory. Recently, my dryer stopped working. So it was either the control module or the belt itself. It wouldn't spin. I open it, light would turn on. I hit the start button, and I could see everything light up. But it wasn't communicating. And I could see the counter countdown too with the time.
I love the website. It's very easy to use. But for other things that I've dealt with AHS in the past with, they recommended people I would not allow within a quarter mile radius of this house. And with another experience, I had to call in and say, "No. I don't want them. I want these people." I should have the option to refuse, and let AHS recommend somebody else or I type in who I want to come. Other than that, their website generates immediate results. I like the gentleman that AHS recently sent out. He knew what he was doing. Very courteous and clean. He answered all my questions. And I discussed a couple of scenarios with the dryer. He recommended everything that I hoped he would. So I was very, very pleased with Brooks.

The air conditioner broke and I submitted a request online on a Sunday. Then, I got a call on Monday morning from the contractor, Blue Sky, and I talked them into coming out later that day. They did and fixed the problem. The tech got the job done in 30 minutes. We got lucky it was the very first thing he checked and he happened to have the part in his truck. Before, we have had to wait a long time for parts. But given the past three years of supply chain challenges, it's somewhat to be expected.
The only thing with AHS is when I submit a request online, they systematically assign a contractor and they keep trying to send the same pool company out. That company is awful and have lied blatantly. The wrote things up to where it wouldn't be covered by warranty and I had to spend time and effort to get a second opinion out. The way around it is to call in, submit the request, and tell them I don't want that specific company. It would be nice if AHS gave us options with the contractors.

We just purchased a home in Elkins Park. An older person had it before so the things are really beat-up and outdated. They haven't been maybe serviced. A couple of my friends have American Home Shield and recommended it. We got it. I thought by having the warranty, I can just call up and someone comes out and see about it. I gotta pay and then I'm done. But I don't really understand the warranty. What's the purpose of having the warranty if you have to pay before and you still have to pay when techs come out? A gentleman came out and we had paid $100 beforehand. I figured that was probably what it would cost if I had called somebody out anyway. The gentleman just used a plunger and the tub was unstopped.
As far as the people coming and doing the work, they do what they are entrusted to do. They do well and they're pleasant. They're very helpful and they understand the problems. They come right out too. For example, when the man came in for the tub, he said, "Make sure you hang up the shower thing where the water comes out. Let it drip. Because water stays in there, they back up." That was a helpful hint. So when we shower, we let it hang. We see just what he meant because all the water drains out of that. But I don't understand the copay thing.
Our furnace still works. The problem this morning was the filter had not been changed in two years. I appreciate the tech coming out to tell me that and to get some new filters. But again, even though the thermostat worked, it was busted up. The little plastic screen in the front broke out. I don't want the busted thermostat in my home, so I had to pay for it to get a new one. We got a new one this morning and that was $190. When I gave the lady the work order, I gave $100. In total, it cost me $290. I'm paying the warranty out of my mortgage and when I call to get things done, I pay. And then when techs come out, I pay. That's a lot of money.

We were out of town and my dog sitter shut my door to the hallway, which made my house hot. We thought it was the air conditioner, so we called American Home Shield while we were out of town so it would be fixed when we got home. All I did was fill out the form online and I talked to AHS that afternoon and had the appointment set up for the next day, so it was simple. It ended up being just the doorway was shut, so everything cooled down. But the contractor went ahead and did a service on the ac while they were there because I asked them to.
I used AHS a lot in my first year I had it because I just bought a house. And the last year and a half, the air conditioner was the first time I've used it again. But everybody AHS sent out has been great. The warranty saves us money in the long run. We pay the fee upfront, but when we have an issue, it's covered other than our deductible fee. So, it makes it a lot more affordable for someone who can't shell out $4000 at a time.

In the early days when we first subscribed to Home Shield, when we called the 800 number, we got a customer service rep that answered the phone and the service was A+. Now, we have to press buttons for departments and what we're wanting to do. Then, when we do get a customer service rep, they seem to want to do a good job and work hard at it and they're very nice people, but oftentimes, I have a hard time understanding what they're trying to say. That gets to be a problem.
Other than that, when we've had major items like air conditioning units and water heaters that got bad, Home Shield has stood behind them and replaced them. The most recent claim I had was for the side-by-side refrigerator/freezer in our garage. A switch went out and the unit was not as cold as it needed to be. Somebody told us about AHS and we got them and, sure enough, they were great. I probably spent more money per month than what I get out of it, but if something really big ever happened, it would be good to have. I've never had a problem other than with the vendors they use. I have had to deal with having trouble getting them to do a service at a certain time, but that's really not American Home Shield's problem. I recommend them. I've even sent people to them.
I had a recent claim with Flash Garage Door for my garage door that quit opening. I wouldn't expect them to come as fast as they did. I still smell a little bit of an odor in our master bath, but it's not as strong or as bad. I was told that it would take a few days for it to go away completely but it's a huge difference. I contacted American Home Shield and I told them, “Okay. I'm worried, ‘cause I just bought a house on April the 21st, and my appliances, some are having issues and whatnot.” I did tell them the HVAC is one of my biggest issues. They got me into getting the platinum plan, which is the topmost one. They told me, “No, no, no. With this plan, we can have your HVAC system checked. It's a free tune-up and whatnot. As soon as it's June the 8th, go ahead and call us back. We can make your appointment.” They told me that twice through the phone which was recorded. When I called on June the 8th, they tried to tell me, “Oh, no. We no longer have that service and blah, blah, blah. It's only certain months.” So, I made it a big deal. I tried to get them to review the phone calls. They said they would call me back. They never did.
Two weeks passed. I tried to call again and I think this was a supervisor that I spoke to. They said, “Oh, we no longer give that service at all.” They advertise free tune-ups for the platinum and unlimited refrigerant, but there's no reimbursement. There was nothing but issues. It started off really bad. It had me pissed off because I had already gave the first payment, and yet they couldn't reimburse me. I tried to call them back. I tried to get them to cancel my contract to reimburse me, but it was just the whole runaround.
The whole process took them about three weeks. They had somebody come out and check my HVAC system, but it was pretty much what I had done already. I got that temperature thing tape. It's a silver tape. So, they pretty much just came out here. They checked everything and they just put more tape on my furnace. It's upsetting that we're paying this much for the plans, but you don't get all the services because they don't tell you when they discontinue services. It was a pretty bad experience.
I'd like to thank you for bringing this to our attention. I apologize for the difficulties you've been experiencing and would like to discuss this more. Feel free to contact me at contact number.

A plumber from Pristine Plumbing came out because I had a leak under the sink, and he just said, "Well, all I have to do is tighten it." Yesterday, I saw water again, so I panicked and I called American Home Shield and they were on it. They got the plumbing company, and the plumbing company called me right back and made an appointment. I'm very happy with American Home Shield.
Pristine Plumbing was very nice. I first put the claim in on a Friday night because that's when I saw the water. I called the next day because I know it was the weekend and the man was very nice. He said, "Okay. You know what? We're all booked up today, but I have some time. So, I'm gonna come out just to at least stop it." He said, "That's all you need. Just don't use the sink." It worked out. They called, and I had an appointment. I like the plumbing company. I also used AHS to change my locks. They're very good. A guy came out and changed my locks. AHS is on top of it. Even when the water came and I went online to book it the first time, right away, I got a plumbing company. So, AHS is excellent. I'm very happy. I'll be using them forever.

The last contractor that American Home Shield sent out solved our problem. We thought we had low water pressure, but in reality, all we needed was a filter changed down in my basement where the water softener was. We had the filters but I couldn't get the casing off that holds the water filter. They got it off, put in one of the new filters, and we ran the water. It ran brown for a minute. After that, there was no more low water pressure. I couldn't get the housing off that holds the filter on there, but they were able to get it off. My wife said that she enjoyed talking to the techs, and she said that they were some of the nicest guys she ever met. She's happy with the water pressure. We used to cut the water on, and you flush the toilet, and the water stops in the sink. It's not like that anymore.
Wow! Thanks so much for your feedback. We appreciate your business.

I needed the seal that goes around the refrigerator replaced because one of the magnets on the refrigerator side slid out. They crack and get old after a while so it wasn't sealing the refrigerator properly. I called American Home Shield and they had a tech reach out to me. Instead of him coming by, I told him I just needed the new parts ordered and sent him the part number in a text. He replied back and said the parts were ordered. Waiting for the part took about two weeks.
The tech came out and brought the two boxes in and looked at what the issue was. He pulled all the stuff off and he had a little blow dryer heat it up so it can fit in the seals properly. The little trays on the side of the doors were cracked so I had it on top of the refrigerator because it doesn't stay in. So he took a picture of that and told me he was gonna see if he could order me a new piece. He gave me some additional information that I didn't know about when it came to my warranty stuff. So, he was good. He did what he had to do and was gone. He was fast and was not playing games.
I called AHS before about replacing my air conditioner but I didn't wanna use what they recommended. The guy came, went up in my attic and looked at the air conditioner. Then, he went over the different options that they have. I had gotten other quotes from two other people and I get it that they're supposed to be lower than everybody else because of the warranty. But the company wanted to just use the bare minimum of what I could get. There were some things that they were missing so I just didn't go with it. The air conditioner didn't break anyway. So, I haven't gotten a new one yet. But AHS is good and they follow up.

I had an HVAC unit on the main floor and another one on the upstairs floor. They weren't working right because my house got up to 80 degrees and above 80 degrees inside. I’ve called American Home Shield in the past because I'm 76 years old and I wanna make sure I do it right. But I filled out the form online this time and it was a Sunday evening. It wasn't in the middle of a business day and the next day, I thought I might have to call them up because nobody has called me yet. And presto, I got a phone call. The contractor said they could come out that day and check my HVAC. It's in Atlanta and it's been very hot for us, especially for somebody my age. They came out and were spectacular. This was the nicest company.
The man's wife called me to make the appointment and she asked if I would like her to call or text when they're on their way. I told her to call and if she doesn't get me, to text. She called and got me and said they were on the way. I told the owner of the company that I'm gonna tell my neighborhood about them because they are absolutely wonderful. And I've told a lot of people about American Home Shield also. Whenever I’ve needed them, they've sent somebody out and the people they send out have done such a good job. I've more than gotten my money's worth, even though the price went up from when I first started using American Home Shield till today. One neighbor signed up with them because of me. It wasn't long after that before she had a problem and she was happy with them.
A relative who had used American Home Shield told me about it and had it at the house she was at before, and then she moved into the house she's in now. When I was telling her about the people who did my HVAC, she said she was not sure she was gonna stay with American Home Shield and I asked why. She said she was glad I’m doing good with this and I asked if she wasn’t happy. She said she looked at the ratings of the people that AHS sent and told her husband to call AHS because she wanted a company that has a higher rating. When she got the companies that had a higher rating that came back to her, they said it was gonna be five days before they could come. And I thought that was ridiculous when she had an HVAC problem also. And then, the other company did come.
The company for my HVAC wasn’t a big known company like some of these people that do all the multi-advertising on everything but they cared and were good and responsive. I was extremely happy with American Home Shield. The people came within 24 hours and checked everything. They replaced what needed to be replaced and it didn't cost me.

Any time you talk to somebody on the phone, it's from a foreign country somewhere in Asia. And I've noticed when American Home Shield made a mistake and charged me a service fee, they have no way of refunding the service fee. So you have to fight for it. They say there are no refunds. I have a policy for my mom and for myself, and the price on my policy after the first year had a $30 price increase, which I wasn't too happy about. I threatened to cancel and they gave me a credit of 75 bucks towards the next bill, which will cover the increase. AHS is definitely not my favorite. I had Old Republic and they were a lot better.
One thing that is good about AHS is they give you an option for your whole house for electronics. It's an add-on through Allstate. I've already had to use it twice for a computer and a speaker. It's definitely worth its weight in gold. So, that's the only reason I'm keeping AHS right now. Because if you try and get that anywhere else, it's 100 bucks a month. And I only pay an extra 15 bucks for the whole house for that. I have a 2013 MacBook Pro and the motherboard went and they approved up to $1,300 to get it repaired. So, that's good. The 2013 Mac is probably only worth 500 bucks.
Wow! Thanks so much for your feedback. We appreciate your business.

I had plumbing requests for the toilet and for the garbage disposal that was leaking. They sent something to track the contractor, Dave & Sons Plumbing, and the tech called me to ask if we could take them coming at 9:00 in the morning. They came the next morning and the tech gave some insight about what went on. He was knowledgeable and he seemed friendly. He fixed the toilet and the garbage disposal but there was a pipe behind the garbage disposal that started leaking, which we didn't know about until later. I called AHS at 10 o'clock on a Friday and the rep said that I should call him back in 30 minutes if he didn't call back. But according to the text message I received, they don't do weekends or holiday weekends and it was over the 4th of July weekend. Then, they called and asked if the tech could come that Monday, July 3rd.
AHS could be better with the follow through. We had a service in December where a contractor came out to look at our ventilation system because something broke. The tech looked at it and said he'd get back to me but they never sent any paperwork. It was over the Christmas holiday and I tried to follow up. AHS emailed the contractor a couple of times to get a report. They never came back out and they didn't fix anything but they took our $75. Then, the rate went up. I didn't report it back in a sufficient amount of time and it was my fault that it didn't go through. But the contractor never came back to do the work and we never got a recommendation. I didn't like that. I'm gonna switch to another company that offers a lower monthly rate and a lower rate for service.

JJ's Fire and Ice's tech asked me questions about what was happening. He diagnosed the issue and said there were broken parts. He told me that he was gonna get the parts that he needed and came back and fixed the unit. I plan to be with the American Home Shield for 60 more years.

I've had a policy for two years and I've never been helped. The most recent claim I had was when the whole power went out in the garage without any breakers being blown. My wife was sweeping the mudroom in my house and my garage is attached to my house. She used an outlet that's in the garage to plug the vacuum into and all the power to my garage went out. The company that came out let me know that they have to do something and that they would submit the work order. The tech was a very friendly guy. But my claim was denied. Every time that I've needed something, it's either not covered or nothing is done. It's $60 a month and it's a waste of money. I already have a company coming out today that's local to me, which is another thing too, ‘cause I live in Niles, Michigan. Every time AHS sends someone to me, it's from Kalamazoo or Grand Rapids. So, the wait times suck. And I have to correspond with that too. The customer service is top-notch, though.

It was 80 degrees in our home but the unit was never shut off. It was reading weird and it wasn't cooling effectively. I called AHS's office and the fellow from Continental Heating and Air Conditioning, Alex, showed up in the afternoon. He was the best service call we've ever had. He fixed our AC and I watched him, talked to him, and learned a lot about the system. He pointed out that there were some pipes that the previous contractor should have tightened more. He put a capacitor in the unit and charged me $235 for a chemical rinse where he took the top of the unit off, rinsed inside and outside, and dirt came through it.
But I've been really frustrated lately because they've been trying to refund me $75 for something back in March when I had a problem with water closets. AHS had originally assigned Kaiser Plumbing and I didn't hear from them for a week. I called the tech and he said he was busy. I called AHS and I got the A1 Septic handyman guy. He came out that night at 8:30 and fixed the problem. But I kept getting an email from AHS that there was a charge due. I called and got ahold of a rep but it kept dragging on. I asked to speak to a supervisor but we didn't go there. The rep called back later and transferred me to a supervisor. I listened to the music for a while but the music stopped and the phone went dead again.

I was without AHS for about a year and a half around 2019 because the service became so poor. There was a delay in getting an agency out when I made calls to them and they didn't have any company that was closer to service me. Also, the coverage was not what it said it would be. On the last repair they did, I had to spend about $800 out of pocket. It was a hot water heater issue and I could have got it done cheaper not going through the warranty company. The straw that broke the camel's back was when I had a service and they needed to reimburse me, which took them every bit of six months. They said that they would reimburse me within 30 days but I had to contact them 10 times and I was getting the runaround. Then, we were fully into COVID and I couldn't get a person on the phone.
But I've been back with them now for about a year and this time, it's a completely different experience. They're able to find someone closer. I put in my service request and they promptly assigned it to someone. I was able to call the people, get a repair scheduled, and they were able to repair the refrigerator. Also, I had a service call that I canceled and they have refunded the fee. I was very pleased with the service this time.

The first time that I scheduled with them, they were unprofessional and stopped answering the phone while I was trying to confirm the appointment. I didn't like them, but American Home Shield sent them out anyway after I told them I didn't want them to come out. Astros did fine when they came, but my issue with them was when they sent out the two technicians. One of them kept on talking to my mother about needing a new water heater and sending me a quote. He was there for a water valve, and I feel like he sabotaged my water heater, ‘cause the very next day, I had a gas leak out of nowhere.
American Home Shield sent Lindsay's and they were great. Whenever I call back, I ask for them, but there's a language barrier when I call in the claims and the AHS reps need to listen. Although they put the claim in and everything went well, they ignored what I didn't want and it caused me another issue. I had to have the gas company come, and I couldn't stay home. It was leaking from the bottom, nowhere in the pipes or the plumbing stuff. I called in on Friday and the repair people were there on Monday. They replaced the unit. I've had to make two claims, and one of them was okay. I had an air conditioning unit that gave out, and American Home Shield got someone out the very next day. We're in Texas, so timeliness really matters. It ended up just being a power line issue though. The other item that I raised was quite a different experience, but it was with the contractor that American Home Shield contracted the work out to. We had a broken dishwasher, and it took a month for them just to get parts to repair. They ordered parts and pushed the first appointment by a week, then they got here and it wasn't the right part. They didn't even know what the problem was. They had to do another week, and they didn't get all the parts they needed, then it was another week. It just kept going on and on.
American Home Shield discounted the service charge that they require for calls and they also worked to try to expedite some of the parts. However, there was a shipping issue, so it ended up just staying on schedule. American Home Shield did a decent job trying to manage the issue with the subcontractor. My only gripe is they're contracting bottom dollar suppliers, which would make sense because they're an insurance company, but it ended up being a very poor experience with that particular vendor. The fact that they have an arrangement with that subcontractor and haven't let them go feels like they're keeping them in business. I can see quite a few 1-star reviews in the last five months about this company, and every one of them is coming from someone who had an American Home Shield warranty.

I filed a claim for my garage door that didn't work. There were some automated emails and texts about who to expect a call from which is important in these days when there are so many phone calls of places I don't expect. Those are important parts about establishing communications with a vendor that gets assigned. The repairman was a very friendly fellow. He showed me what was going on and how to help that not to happen again. He took a look at what was going on and assessed the situation. He filled out his paperwork. The sensor problem I was having was apparently more sensitive than what I understood. He was non-judgmental. I went into lots of details, and he was very kind with that and answered all my questions. When old systems which don't run the most efficiently go bad, it hurts to replace them, but American Home Shield goes ahead and replaces them.

This particular instance was pleasant, but I've also had unpleasant experiences with American Home Shield. I had some electrical work that needed to be done and the electrician gave a recommendation. However, American Home Shield didn't want to fulfill the recommendation and said that if I wanted to pay another deductible, they'd send out another electrician to get an opinion. A repairman came and said the same thing, that the whole system is shot. Then I get another email from the American Home Shield saying I owe $480. By that point, I was confused. Why was there such a difference between $2,550 and $480?
I was calling about that and trying to get an answer, but I never got an answer. I was very frustrated. I couldn't understand the girl very well, and I asked to talk to the supervisor. Apparently, they don't have supervisors there that could assist. I ended up calling the second vendor who told me that American Home Shield was not going to replace it. They wanted to fix it that was why it was only the $480. American Home Shield ordered the part a couple of days ago. The vendor told me it would be two to three days.

Each month, American Home Shield would charge me. I was gonna cancel because I have been with them for three years and never used the service. Then when I wanted to use the service, they said there was another $125 that I had to pay. The lady called me back and a contractor came out. What was wrong with my refrigerator was that my icemaker wasn't making ice. It was popping. It was also leaking water. The guy said he fixed the leaking water part. But he said I needed a filter and that I have to go out and buy my own filter. If they come in there to fix it, they should be able to supply the filter too. I am gonna have to order the filter and screw it in myself. That's 60 something dollars. He also didn't speak good English. He was trying to understand me and I was trying to understand him. For a minute, it was a mess. But the service was good. When he did, it wasn't long.

American Home Shield has been good. I had to get a new dishwasher. I had to pay out of pocket because I upgraded the replacement so it wasn't all covered.
Thanks Elizabeth. We're thrilled to hear that you were satisfied with our services. Your feedback is appreciated, and we look forward to helping you again.

The gas company said I had a gas leak so they shut off the service to the house. I filed a claim with American Home Shield and they contacted me back almost immediately. They provided me with a different provider at first, which I didn't have a good experience with. I worked with Mega Star before, so I asked for them. They are always great. The repairman came out quickly. He had to go under the house. First, he isolated the inner line from the outer line. He determined there was no leak in the house. Then he went outside and pressurized that line. He determined that the leak was in the yard. However, American Home Shield wouldn't cover it. I'm gonna have to pay $3,700 to have it fixed.
The service from American Home Shield has been good overall. I've had their contractor out to repair my air conditioner several times over the years. But I am disappointed that something like this on my property is not covered. I don't expect them to cover the entire yard but that's a significant thing and it's not the kind of thing that goes out. This gas pipe is 75 years old. I don't see why they can't cover that.
Thank you for sharing your feedback Ronald. I'd like to apologize for not meeting your expectations. Please know that our team will be using your feedback to prevent this from happening again in the future.

My water pump on the pool went out. I made a phone call to American Home Shield and told them what the problem was, and they asked me some information, took my credit card information down, then sent me a message saying who the job was assigned to. I called them up and they made an appointment to come out at the time. The guy who came here was good. I like him. I work in my house, and he was out there in the backyard with the pool. He came back and just told me, "It's fixed." I went out there, looked at it and it was working, and it's still working right now.

American Home Shield's service has definitely improved. It's been decent this year. At first, it used to be a lot of calling them, but this time, it was quick. It's more about the contractors though. Some of the them are not good, while some are. I recently requested service for my dishwasher and my AC. The dishwasher is fixed, but with the AC, the first guy was not very good because he did not know what he was doing. However, the second one was good. The guy had to come multiple times because the parts were not here, but I was okay with it. He is supposed to come today, so we'll see how that goes.

My air conditioning wouldn't work and it was 90 degrees outside. The temperature was rising really quickly in my house. I just had to click one button on their website and they knew who I was. They said they'd get someone working on it as soon as possible. I made the claim at about 11:00 at night and at 8:15 the next morning, the contractor set up the appointment. The tech was the owner of the company and they were at my house at 11:30. He had the part needed in his work van. AHS has saved my butt numerous times. But they are inflexible when it comes to payment dates. They only take the payment out on a certain day of the month. Other than that, they've been great.

I just had my AC replaced through American Home Shield. I did a couple of claims because we were trying to figure out what was going on. The first time, we thought the problem was fixed. Within a couple of months later, it went out again. Finally, they got a second opinion and we were advised to replace it. I had to pay out of pocket for almost half of it, but they kept the claim open for me. So, when I got the money to replace the system, it was super easy for me to do. I just filled out a form and they were able to have the contractor come out as soon as the part was ordered and received. The two technicians were so nice. I had a good experience. They were super respectful. They stayed until the service was complete. As far as American Home Shield, I like that I only pay $75 for service. I've only had a few claims but most of them have been fully covered with the exception of replacing my AC.

One of our air conditioners wasn't keeping up with the heat. The turnaround time for the claim was really good. I highly recommend the contractor. I was very impressed even with AHS 'cause they gave me a window. They also sent me an email saying when the tech was about half an hour out. That was great so I didn't have to stick around all day. The tech was very professional.

I was impressed that the workers came within 48 hours to give us an estimate. So far AHS has been great. Everyone's been really good on the phone. They've been able to tell me if what happened is under warranty before I pay for the fee. We had an electrician one time who was very good. Everything has been covered.

We don't have to worry about unexpected costs when things break down around the house with American Home Shield. Their claim process is pretty painless. They're fairly prompt. It's as what they say, as far as the stuff that we've done. We have not had any issues with any of the technicians over the years too. They've all been good. When our dryer quit working, a tech came out and got it fixed. It's doing well now.

We've had a good experience with American Home Shield. Sometimes things move a little slowly. But in the end, they do everything that needs to be done. When something happens to the things that we have insured, they either get fixed or replaced. That's why we keep the warranty. With one of the claims we had, they replaced the whole unit. I have three units and something wasn't working. With the other one, they just did some repairs that needed to be done. The contractor was Gra-Tac and I'm happy with everything that's going on right now.

I was not happy with my warranty. My daughter had American Home Shield and she was pretty happy with them, so I decided to change. So far, the service has been great. We had a problem with our stove. I called American Home Shield and they sent somebody out that was professional and knew what he was doing. A part had to be ordered so he ordered the part and when the part was delivered to our house, he came back within a week and fixed the stove. This home warranty is a great benefit. They're dependable, reliable, and they don't seem to give people the runaround.

American Home Shield fixed my things and I don't have to worry about them. I have an insurance policy to fix my stuff because I'm 72 years old and it's hard sometimes for an older person. Sometimes I can't understand American Home Shield's customer service when I call in because they sound like they're from a foreign country, but I do make it through. That's my only complaint. The people don't talk plain enough. That aside, I've never had a problem with the people that came out.
