American Home Shield is a home warranty provider that offers service plans throughout the contiguous United States. It offers three home warranty plan options, priced from $29.99 to $89.99 per month, with either a $100 or $125 service fee. In addition to normal wear and tear, plans cover breakdowns from rust, insufficient maintenance and faulty repairs, which are often excluded from home warranty coverage.

American Home Shield sent me a plumber that didn't do the right job and the guy was not even set up to do everything. I had to hire somebody else who was very expensive to get the job done right. Right now, I’m gonna send the claim in and see if AHS is gonna take care of it or not. But Tony from Cactus Garage Doors was great with his attitude, professionalism and service. I had a claim with AHS for the microwave too and that was taken care of. AHS takes care of the small stuff but not the heavy-duty stuff. I had a hard time. The perfect example is my air conditioner. I had to hire somebody a lot better than they had. There's one company I use but AHS can't use them because they're too busy. And the communication with the Philippines was terrible. I couldn’t get anybody in the United States.

Whenever I put in a request for a job with American Home Shield, the contractors that they hire usually a two-week wait. The length of time is just ridiculous. For instance, I had repairs on my dishwasher and that took forever. Now, I have a call waiting on the refrigerator. There's a part that needs to be changed and the refrigerator is dripping water. A tech was scheduled to be here yesterday but his truck broke down. I called and asked if there was another contractor that they could send but I never got an answer. That's my beef with American Home Shield. Also, I don't call plumbers anymore for American Home Shield because they don't pay anything. I just pay the plumber myself. I had another claim for my washing machine and the tech did a great job. He diagnosed it right away.

The contractor was working on a washing machine that I had. It wouldn't drain and they had to order a part. The first part that came in was the wrong part. But it wasn't their fault. So they had to order a new part. When the new part came in, they repaired it real quick. Overall, American Home Shield is very quick on responding to my needs. I'm pretty happy with them. Their vendors are very good. But I wasn't happy about the price increase. It went from $50 to $70 with not much notice.

Our AC stopped working. So the tech came out and looked at it. My wife was at home when the tech showed up to do the work. She said he was very friendly and got everything fixed for us. The AC works better than before. We've had pretty good experience with American Home Shield. Anytime we need to get something done, it’s pretty quick and efficient.

It's been fairly simple and easy to submit a claim with AHS. They get right back to me and give me the information of the person that’s supposed to come out and fix my problem, so I haven't had any issues so far. Recently, my stove wasn't working and they sent someone out. When they first did that, they thought it was the stove that had to be worked on, but it was not. I needed to call back and get with an electrician as it was an issue with the line. So the electrician resolved the issue and he did a good job. He was professional and nice. AHS is a good service.

A repair person came out because my shower was not working upstairs. The water was not coming out. Also, there was a leaking faucet in the downstairs bathroom. The repair person told me that the faucet downstairs would have to be replaced and they were gonna get back to me on the shower. They called and told me that it was gonna cost me $1,000 for them to go in and fix the shower upstairs. I didn't have $1,000. They told me that the claim was still in to replace the faucet.
I didn't hear any more from them until I called them in the last part of last week. That was when I was told that they closed out the order because the leak in the faucet downstairs was coming from the shower downstairs. Nobody ever told me that. It was only when I cut the faucet off that the water still drips. Even when I take a bath, it starts dripping. I was pissed off because the ticket was closed out when I was waiting on the repair people to come back out to replace the faucet. I was told they can send somebody out again but that will cost me again, which is not fair.
As for the shower upstairs, I had someone out. They looked at it and had it fixed. They were out of there in 15 minutes. I had to pay an additional $100 to get that done. I'm going to look into another warranty company after this situation. I had a big situation with my refrigerator a couple of years ago. It took two weeks to get my refrigerator fixed and I lost a lot of food. I also had to buy a lot of ice to preserve what I had. I was not satisfied with American Home Shield then.

American Home Shield responded rapidly. And someone came in the day or the day after or the next day. So, we're pleased with the work. Also, the technician's work ethic was good. He came fast after we called AHS. He was able to help us.

Our dishwasher hasn't been performing well. The techs ran tests on it to see what the issue was but that yielded no results. So, the tech said it was probably an intermittent outage. AHS's service is okay. The value for us has been good for the past couple of years. But looking forward, we live in a rural setting so our coverage isn't great. We have more issues with more things on the property than what they cover. Also, we're so far away from people that there aren't that many contractors who service our home. So, we've had issues scheduling different contractors for the issues we've had. Most of the time, we've ended up coming out of pocket anyways.

A technician came out. I had the door off to show him what the problem was. He looked at the problem. It was done quickly. He had me come outside and showed me what he did. He unscrewed the pilot light, cleaned it, and put it back on. It wasn't leaking anymore. He lit it for me, came in the house, and tested to make sure there was no CO2 readings in the house. He gave me a receipt copy of the paperwork that was saying that he did the job.

The tech took three weeks to come because of the part. I had to call the contractor a few times to track the delivery, then they fixed a time for the tech to come out and the guy came on that day. Once he was there, he fixed the problem of the gas pilot on the heater. He was nice and knowledgeable.

There have been plenty of times when I let them connect to my phone so they can take a video of the problem but when the tech shows up, he'd say he never got any of that information and I would have to start everything from scratch. Having to make multiple visits is frustrating. But other than that, the service has been good. I appreciate the fact that the fee covers just about everything we need. We're glad to have it and that's why we keep renewing it.

American Home Shield is the better option regarding price. They've done their due diligence and I appreciate what they do. I've had a lot of work, but they've come through. They’ve been able to fix my leaks, my stove, my refrigerator, and my washer. Whatever I pay on a monthly basis has definitely gone a long way. That's why I kept them in the loop and I'm glad I have the service. In case things get ruined and I need repairs or replacements, they're gonna cover 90% of the cost. I got to pay but 6 G’s between my stove and others because of that.
I called recently for the door sensor on the washer that didn’t want to work. It wouldn’t wash or do a cycle because it wouldn’t lock. The contractor that came out was excellent. They explained the process, how they were able to get approval of the parts, brought it in, waited about a week or two then the install happened. I'm happy ‘cause the washer is good. It took a long time, over about a month, because the parts were hard to come by. But they kept contact.

The last claim I had was simple. I had a bathroom sink that started, all of a sudden, leaking water. When someone would turn it on, it would cause water to start seeping out from the top then go on to the floor, which is wood. The sink couldn't be used anymore, and it's for most of the guests that come into the house, so I needed to get it fixed. I called American Home Shield first to make sure that it was covered, just to be doubly sure, because the language was a little weird.
I was confirmed twice that it was completely in the realms of my coverage and I could use the service, then I told them they can go ahead and get me in touch with NW Sundance, because they were the people that were going to do it. NW Sundance called me that day, then we set up an appointment time. They came to the house and fixed the problem in 15 minutes. I wasn't in at the moment, but I talked to the guy on the phone afterwards and said, “How did it go?” He said it was perfectly fine. It was quick. Definitely choose American Home Shield if you like people that get what is needed done. I've used them two other times, and everything got fixed, or at least they tried to solve the issue within a very reasonable timeframe.

American Home Shield's reps are polite and prompt. I had a plumbing thing recently and on the day that the tech they assigned was supposed to come, I stayed home all afternoon waiting for him. Then I got a call that the guy was sick and it had to be changed. But I told them that I couldn't do that because I was going to be on a cruise. So they came on out that day and fixed the leaking underneath the half bathroom sink. They were very nice and polite. And if I asked a question, they would explain it to me.

I like that the vendors that American Home Shield sends out are professional and friendly. I liked their response. But I don't like my last experience when I called them out to look at my dryer and they replaced it because they said it was caused by the flood but they wouldn't cover it. I paid $100 for them to come out here to look at it and do nothing.

I submitted the claim online and then I heard from A & E Services, which I assume is Sears. They came out and looked at the oven. But at the time, the oven was not doing what I had said it was doing. So, they left and didn't do anything. Then within the next week, it was doing it. I called them again, and another service person came out, and they replaced the thermostat. But it still didn't keep the temperature. So then another person came out. That person looked at it and felt that it was a control panel. So, he ordered a control panel and that was about a month ago. There's still no sign of the control panel. When I contacted American Home Shield again, they said they had until the 25th was when they thought it would be in from backorders. But it never arrived. I called Home Shield again this morning. They contacted Sears, and Sears had 72 hours to decide whether they can get the part or whether my oven would have to be replaced.

My husband and I own two homes and both homes are covered by American Home Shield. The last time I had to use the warranty, a screw fell into my garbage disposal. My husband and I had both looked and didn't see anything in there. A tech called and said he was coming. He was very nice and he took the screw out of the garbage disposal. We had to pay the $100 fee when nothing really was done. Overall, American Home Shield is an excellent service to deal with. I have peace of mind if something goes wrong.

There were a couple of weeks delay before the contractor came out for the dishwasher but it wasn't like we had an urgent issue. And they were able to fix the problem without replacing it. I'd recommend American Home Shield.

The motor of the door opener quit working. I submitted the repair request online and it seemed like AHS improved their website a lot. Then, I got the contractor's phone number and name. I got a text message as well. When the techs came out, they were amazing. They not just replaced the motor, they also did lube on the other side of the door, and they went above and beyond. Since they came out, the door opener has been working as it should.

For our claim with the oven, there was so much gas coming out of the igniter. The tech replaced the part. Everything's functioning perfectly now. But for the dishwasher claim, it took a month to get the board.

I had a standard service call to check the heating system before the wintertime because if something breaks and it's not maintained, American Home Shield won't cover it. There was one technician and he was very thorough, professional and responsible. He went over everything with me.

I ordered a stove, and a company delivered it yesterday. When I purchased it, they said the people that delivered were gonna install. But when they came in, they said they couldn't install it. I have it sitting in the middle of my kitchen floor now. I was on the phone yesterday with the people, and they said I have to get my own plumber to install it. When I purchased the oven, they even charged me for installing it. When American Home Shield said they closed the claim, they had enough money in there for me to get it installed. They said that's all they can pay. They're not gonna pay anything for me to get a plumber because it was already figured out in the agreement.
I'm not pleased. This is the third time that they sent a person out here to fix the oven. They sent a technician out here, and he said it just needed a part that goes around the oven door. It took him about two weeks to come and put that on. But the technician that came to put the insulation around the oven door said that wasn't a problem. He had to change the power light. He put the power light on and put the seal around the door. On another claim, a contractor came in to fix my faucet. I was very pleased on that. They don't give you an 8-hour window. They give you either one from a 2 or 4-hour window. You don't have to be at home all day. But all these other ones, they give you an 8-hour window. You're stuck at home all day. If they say 8:00 to 5:00, they might show up at 4:45.

American Home Shield did a good job. I had a washing machine that the pump went out and it wasn't pumping water out. The guy was friendly. He ordered the part, came back, put it in. It was good. The garage door before that, the guy was knowledgeable and helpful and even increased the other garage door thing for me as a courtesy. My wife said the technician this last time was real nice. We like the peace of mind knowing that if the house gets older and some of my items need maintenance, it's not gonna break the budget.

I called AHS on the phone to submit an AC claim and the tech from J&J Mechanical came out two hours later, which exceeded my expectations. I've been with AHS for a pretty while and I like it.

The technicians they send out are not the best. Most of the time I've had service, I've had doubts about the skill level of the technicians. They didn't identify the problem correctly once. Then they identified it and I had to get another service provider. Somewhere in that process, a technician caused a problem which was just disconnecting a wire. So, they had to come back and fix that.
I've also had issues scheduling online which is very frustrating. I do not like to call anybody on the phone and I've had significant issues multiple times where I had no choice but to call. It's frustrating when there's an online capability that doesn't work.

We enjoy the peace of mind that comes from if something goes wrong with something that falls under the coverage with American Home Shield, we know what we're going to pay. One of the things that we like too is, depending upon the thing that's wrong, if there are other things that fall under the umbrella of that vendor, then we can chuck those in as well, which we did recently. The value added is great. Hobbs Central Appliance recently came out. My wife was the one that was on site both times when they came and she said they did a good job.

American Home Shield has gotten better from when I first had them. Their response time, getting here and getting a resolution done, I've noticed improvements in that area. I get a call back usually immediately within the first day and set up an appointment. The contractors are good too. They're nice and courteous, and they explain what's happening. I've been using American Home Shield for years, and I would continue to use them and recommend them.

Amazing Comfort did well with our AC claim. They came out the next day after I filed the claim. The AC was leaking gas and they took care of it. They're nice people and I'm dealing with them again. They're getting ready to put a generator in my house that they referred.

The service is great. I had their warranty on a different house and never been an issue. I had a claim for the air conditioning. It would turn on and then it would turn off suddenly. The customer service of the contractor was bad. Whoever answered the phone was rude. I don't like their customer service. But the technician was very, very professional. He was on time and he was able to fix the air conditioning fast.

American Home Shield has been good the couple of times that I've used them. The techs have been absolutely wonderful too. I had a repair on a dryer, and they ended up having to replace it because the repair was not going to be worth it. I was very thrilled with that. The benefit to having American Home Shield is I didn't have to go out and purchase a new dryer. The $108 is a fair deposit, versus paying the market price for the replacement or even repair of an item. I like it. Now, my refrigerator stopped cooling, so they're doing a repair on that.

I have recommended American Home Shield to a number of people. If I have a problem, I make a call to them or put it on the site, and they send someone out. They come out within two or three days. There was only one instance where a repairman came out and he was a complete idiot. He said there was another problem, which was not true. I called American Home Shield out, and they sent someone else out. That guy found the problem in five minutes and fixed it.
We also had two different electrical issues, and a guy came out and fixed both of them. For the plumbing issue we had, the company that American Home Shield contracted with was willing to come out and help me if it was a Lowe's contract. I told them it's American Home Shield and they said they'd get to it when they could. I called American Home Shield back up and said, "This company you've tied me with is more focused on Lowe's customers than they are your customers, so you need to send someone else out." The next day they had another guy out here.

The service is not what I thought it would be. I called them out and they went out to fix my faucet that was broken. They charged me 125 and said they couldn’t fix it. Then my sink stopped up and they just plunged it out, which cost me 125. They said I would have to buy a sink and then call again to pay another 125. I thought they’d fix everything. I'm disappointed with that. But it’s too early now. That’s just one time.

The motor in the back of my refrigerator was freezing. AHS gave us what the company name was and when they were gonna show up. They provided excellent service. I recommend AHS to everybody.

I like American Home Shield. Recently, a technician came out and repaired the icemaker. He had knowledge of what he was repairing. I’m also glad because American Home Shield didn’t hesitate. It was not a long time waiting to get a technician to come out to fix it. I like the turnaround time for service. They are true to their word on getting me satisfied with it. So far, I had two technicians who came out back to back. Both knew what they were doing. I wish I had them a long time ago.

I'm not happy. I got a new hot water heater but it cost me $1,000 and American Home Shield took $100 out of my debit card. The plumber wanted $1,200 for the water heater. I got him down to $1,000 'cause I had cash money. I had no hot water for four days, so I had to get it put back on. The plumber said American Home Shield was slow on getting out the water heater. I had no water on Saturday morning. I called them up. I couldn't call them back till Monday because they don't work on weekends. I called them back Monday, and they told me they'd be getting it out soon. Then they called me on Wednesday morning, said it was coming in, and they were gonna be putting it in.
I'm almost about ready to drop American Home Shield. They told me I was only on the gold plan. I need to be on the platinum plan, but they would not switch me over to the platinum plan until next year. On the platinum plan, I would've paid a lot cheaper for this water heater. I've been paying them 30 something dollars a month for a while. This is first time I had to use them this is what happened.

I requested AHS to service my refrigerator, then I used them again for my microwave that was not working. I requested the service through my app and it was very easy. Then, the techs came and fixed it so fast. I really liked them and everything is perfect now.

I had two claims to American Home Shield recently. One was a microwave, which took a while, but they had to order the part and they fixed it. The technician took the old one with him and did a great job. He was very friendly and nice. The other one is my air conditioner, and we're playing phone tag on that. The first inspector said that it was broken and it was broken because there wasn't enough air intake for it, which was not true. I disagreed with that, so I had AHS send out another inspector who said, “No, it's just broken air intakes.” They're supposed to be replacing it, but I'm waiting for a callback from them. I haven't heard from them for about four days.

Service has been okay. I had a leak on my toilet and the techs fixed it. I had a pretty good experience with them. I'm managing 10 different units so we use AHS quite often. It minimizes unexpected expenses. I know it's $700 a year and it's not going to be a lot more than that. Also, there are some limitations on the coverage but those are things I know ahead of time.

I showed my plumbing issue to a rep through a video call. It was a water heater problem in the garage. The tech that came was nice. He told us what pipe was bad, which was good, and the problem. It was too old. Everything is very good now. I'm very satisfied. American Home Shield is great and people should get it. If something breaks, the home warranty covers it.

American Home Shield is good about getting people out. I can call in and get something repaired quickly. And instead of having to pay $500 or a $6,000 bill depending on what it is, I just pay the $100. AHS sent Mr. Rooter Plumbing before and I wasn’t happy with their work. But the guy they sent this time was good. He was on time and fixed it quickly. He was professional compared to the others AHS sent in the past. So, I was more pleased with them this time.
Most of the techs are good. I liked the ones that are local. But this Mr. Rooter was out of Abilene, which is 90 miles away from us, and I'm not sure why AHS sent somebody 90 miles away when we got people there in the town where I live that does work for AHS also. That didn’t make a lot of sense to me. Also, AHS keeps going up on their rates, and I guess everybody is. But after a while, it will get to where what I'm paying yearly is gonna not be worth me keeping it from what I could just pay out of my pocket.

We're not very happy with AHS right at the moment. We had a man come out and check the refrigerator twice. He ordered parts and installed them but the refrigerator is still freezing everything that's in it. It's costing us a lot of money to replace this stuff, with inflation and the price of food. When my wife tried to call, she was getting the runaround. She was told she had to resend all the information she had sent them and this was after the second repair. If we have to keep replacing the food and or replace the refrigerator, that's gonna be a major bite in our budget. I don't think AHS is cost-effective.

The garage door wouldn't open anymore. Come to find out it was a busted spring. When I read my policy, it said everything with the garage door and the track were covered. But it says nothing about the spring not being covered. Make sure you know what's covered and not. Other than that, most of the vendors have been okay.

When the contractor came out for the AC, they replaced something. But then it started to make this really loud sound. So I had them come back out to look at it because it sounded like it was gonna break. It was working when the tech got there. So there wasn't really much he can do. But I recorded it when the AC was doing it so the tech could hear the sound. He said that sound is normal when it's overheating. My baby was sleeping the whole time when this guy came. He was very quiet and did what he needed to do and explained to me the best that he could. He was great. The unit is working, but it still makes that sound occasionally. Overall, I had great experience with American Home Shield. Everything has been really quick. Everything has been fixed. All the contractors have been great.

We had a lot of old appliances and it was time to cover them. We've had American Home Shield for less than a year. We had an issue with our dryer as the start switch broke off. Sears came out and they were fine but it took a long time to get the part. That aside, our dryer is working normally now.

We want protection over the cost of fixing things. American Home Shield is a good plan and they have a quick response. When a part of the garage door opener went out, they replaced the part. That took the tech less than one hour. Check out this home warranty.

The washing machine was running continuously unless I unplug it from the outlet which began the week prior to me calling 911 Appliance and having them come out. They were quick to respond and it turned out there was some circuit board issue. The tech had to order a part and he came back a couple of weeks later and replaced it. Everything's working ever since. The contractor was excellent and I’d refer them again. My in-laws had American Home Shield and they had an issue, and AHS took care of them and thought it was something that I probably should consider. It's been a great experience so far.

The toilet was leaking. The contractor said the wax ring under the toilet had basically dissolved. So they put a new wax ring under it, but there is now floor damage. But overall, everything's good with American Home Shield so far. Anytime I've had a problem, they've been very prompt with getting somebody out there to fix it.

The toilet tank was leaking and AHS assigned Kintex Plumbing to my claim. They had come out before for other work that I have had with American Home Shield, and they're always fast and professional. This time, my experience was nice and easy. Overall, I'm happy with AHS. Anytime I have an issue, most of the time, they can resolve it.

American Home Shield is happy to take your money, and provide horrible services. First you pay your 100 bucks to have them diagnose the problem with a contracted company, and then the fights begin. AHS installed a water heater in 2019, it started leaking 3 weeks ago, I called, paid my $100, a plumbing company came out, and had to get permission from AHS to fix the problem and that’s when the games begin.
The heater was still under warranty, so ahs says that we have to deal with the brand company and that company says bring the water heater to a Home Depot store and they will switch it out. Why did ahs take my fee when they can see it is under warranty and they knew they won’t do anything.? So anything ahs installs, if it’s under warranty, you have to deal with the brand owner, AND if it’s installed incorrectly you have to pay for that also. They picked the company who installed incorrectly! I called a plumber and quote for new water heater is 1800 bucks. AHS quotes 2500 to fix their screw up and that is not including a new water heater. No one will call you back from this company, there is no manager to discuss, and obviously their services and policies have nothing but protections and clauses that benefit them. Do not waste your money.

My water heater was leaking and when Bear Plumbing came out, they said that the water heater itself was covered but they said that I needed to bring it up to the current code and so I needed some extra plumbing and reconfiguring. I ended up paying almost $3,000 out of pocket. Also, the guy ended up pulling my phone out of my hand and giving himself a 5-star review on my phone. He said he was the owner of the plumbing company. In the couple of times I've called AHS, they said that things weren't covered or I ended up having to pay out of pocket for things. I don't know if it's worth the monthly fee or if I'm better off just paying for repairs out of pocket.

Our garage door won't close. The techs did an adjustment. A home warranty is easy to call. You can get your money back but not all but at least you have something covered. I hope that AHS can cover the whole amount instead of just a portion. Usually, you pay more than half of the cost.

I like AHS. But what's been a frustrating part of it is getting contractors. For example, we've had a couple of times where we've needed an item repaired, and we couldn't get a contractor out for quite a few days. Most recently, we had our washer stopped working. I called them, put the service request in, but they weren't going to be able to have somebody come out for almost a week.
Then I've had to try to secure somebody on my own, find out if they contract with American Home Shield, and then call back American Home Shield and ask them, “Do you guys contract with this person? Yes or no?” and try to do it that way. With my washer, it was going to take too long for the repairs, so we ended up just buying a new washer. The fabulous part of it is the coverage. We recently had to have our AC replaced. We only had to pay 3,000 out of pocket and they covered the rest for a completely new AC. It's also given us great peace of mind. I wouldn't trade AHS. I'm really happy that we have the service.

I didn't see that much of a benefit to the home warranty. They don't cover this and that and half of what I wanted to have done didn't get done. The frustrating part is the person saying that somebody would call me within 24 hours. But 24 hours went by and I didn't get a call. I figured I’d give it an extra day but 48 hours went by and I didn't get a call. I called up and they said it's gonna take a little bit longer since I live in such a small town, which is true. I get that. I gave them some more time but I didn't get a call.
I called back again and they said I need to go out and find somebody and then I can tell them and they'd reimburse me. But that's asking me to do their job. They said they'd look into it again. They finally found somebody and the first thing they found was great. He took care of the problems and he was very nice, cordial, and respectful. But if I think about how much the service cost versus the benefit that we got out of it, it's kind of lopsided to cost over benefits. I didn't renew it. Also, there seem to be different products with different pricing. If I were to get American Home Shield again, I would know a little bit better and ask for the other package which includes more.

We had a microwave repair done through the contractor. I put my request with American Home Shield in the evening one day, and the contractor called me the next morning to schedule. They were out within two days at the most. Gary, the guy that came out, was timely, friendly, and had good communication. He explained everything well to me. And the microwave is working again, so he did his job.

I recently had a plumbing issue, and I was expecting to have to wait several days, but it was solved very quickly. The repair people came the same day and they were great. It was much better than I expected, and the fix was really easy. Overall, we were very satisfied with that service. Keep up the quick turnaround.

I like the service generally. Some of the things that have happened were not their fault. Like it took a long time to get my wall oven replaced. My granddaughter put a Shrinky Dinks in there. The oven was fine, but it did damage to the microwave above. It took close to 10 months to get a new one because it wasn't in supply. So I had to keep calling and calling and calling. But Home Shield is pretty good about getting me a person out here. It's dependable. It's nice to have someone like a retainer that you can get to fix stuff when stuff gets broken. The claims have been easy to submit. Everyone I've worked with so far seemed to have taken care of my claims in a timely manner.

All American Plumbing & Rooter came out to service three of our toilets. The mechanism inside one of them was not working. On the other one, you had to hold down the handle for a while before it would completely flush. Another one was clogged. They came the first day and replaced two of the mechanisms inside two of the toilets. We thought everything was fixed with all of them, but afterwards, I realized one of the toilets kept running. I called and asked if they could come back because one of the toilets was not fixed. They said I had a submit another request through American Home Shield for them to return before they could put me on the schedule. I did that. They weren't able to come two days later, but they fixed that toilet completely. There were two other issues going on with it that they had to fix that they didn't realize the first time that they were here.

The hole underneath my sink was all soaked and there was water on the ground. We turned off the sink but we could still hear water, and still, there was water. So, I called American Home Shield and unfortunately, we always speak to people from another country. We never get to speak to Americans. Other than that, somebody came out and he was like, “Oh, it’s your faucet.” They ended up ordering a faucet and when they came in to put it in, the faucet was defective. It was not their fault. They were like, “Oh, my God. I'm so sorry.” They were really nice guys. They got another faucet, came in, put it in and everything was good, but then, when you turn the right thing on for cold water, it was doing hot water and the other one was doing cold. I know the guy was training somebody who is learning to plumb. So, I called and I said, “I think the guy accidentally did it backwards.” The person said, “Okay. Well, we'll have him come back out.”
When the original plumber came back out, he said, “I'm not understanding what your problem is.” I said, “Okay. The right one’s supposed to be cold. The left one’s supposed to be hot.” He said, “Well, this is correct the way it was hooked up.” I was like, “What are you talking about?” On the very front of this faucet, it says that it's supposed to be the opposite because normally, that faucet would be sideways. So, you'd be pushing the handle away from you for hot, and towards you for cold as a safety thing for kids but because my bath is so close to the sink, you couldn't do it so they did it the other way. I was like, “Okay. Can you do me a favor? Can you do it the way that we would know it? Because we're gonna hurt ourselves.” He switched it. He said, “I'll do whatever you want.” It's been working fine. The company was really good to work with.

My fan wasn't turning in the unit and it wasn't cooling. I did the claim on the American Home Shield website and I liked it. The first few days, I didn't hear anything. It was on the third day that they confirmed the appointment. They said the contractor, Mikes Clean Air, will be calling me within that day and will be setting up a time. They then came out and fixed the unit. The tech was very professional and nice. He took his shoes off and he handled the situation. My sister was very impressed. She called and told me how good he was.
My cousin applied with American Home Shield first and she was so impressed. My husband passed away and she knew I was by myself, so she recommended the home warranty to me. That was back in 2016 and I've been with them ever since. Go with American Home Shield. I'm very positive with them that they'll do a good job. Techs come right out and they solve the problem. One time, they did refunds for me and I purchased something else. I really appreciate people coming in and helping me out because when you're by yourself, it's hard. American Home Shield are good people to deal with and they were very friendly and professional when you call.

The heating and air conditioning contractors that come to the house are very good. But the ones that come out for appliances are the mom-and-pop type shops that are just one or two guys, and their service is not very good. Silver Star was the second one that came out. The one prior to that was 5 Star. They don’t answer their phone. I have to text them and it takes them three or four days to get back to me. And their time to come out was a six-hour time slot.
Silver Star came in for a second opinion because the washing machine is still leaking. They said that it what was causing the leak is the top of the washing machine that opens up when you want to pop it open. There are three cups that water come into, and those three cups are mounted inside the top of the washing machine and there's rust around the top of that. And the only way to repair that is to replace the entire top of the washing machine, which the warranty company said it’s not covered.
I don't like American Home Shield’s customer service on the phone. For instance, when the first company came out, they never called me. When AHS sent the information, they said that, “You'll be in contact with them. If they don't call you, call them.” But when I called them, they didn't answer the phone. If I left them a message, they would not return my call. So, I called AHS back. I said, “Is there another vendor you can provide? This person is not getting back in touch with me.” “No, that's the only vendor.” That's not true because it makes them not 5 Star. They're not professional, and not informed, or they're just lying.

We filed a claim and we have used American Home Shield for a free HVAC tune-up for the season. My boyfriend said they were quick and everything was good. It was the same company that came out for our service call as well. They could have been a smidge more thorough, but I'm not an HVAC expert. They said that it was just the batteries in our thermostat that needed to be replaced so we had already replaced them, and it was working fine by the time they got to the house for the service call. It took some time for the new batteries to kick in. But after they told us, we just dealt with it. I've told a few people so far that I know American Home Shield, and to get a home warranty. AHS came with our house and it's a good peace of mind to have to know that it's a backup in case unexpected expenses occur.

The air conditioner wasn't producing cold air and the fan wasn't turning. American Home Shield said that if you didn't hear anything within a few hours, I could give the contractor a call. So I gave them a call and the rep got me scheduled right away. They were all busy at that time. When the guy came out, he fixed it. He said the capacitor was bad and he changed that out and was on his way. It works good now. They were very professional, and on time.
I had my heater done last year for preventive maintenance scheduling. The preventive maintenance guy came out, checked it, and cleaned it. It was fine. It's easy to make a claim with American Home Shield. It's also affordable. But I couldn't get on the website to schedule my free HVAC for air conditioning. I tried calling but I couldn’t get ahold of anybody.

I had a problem with a garbage disposal and the plumber who came out thought it was an electrical issue. American Home Shield sent an electrician out and he found a problem. But it wasn't electric. It was in the garbage disposal and it's all fixed.

AHS is very difficult to deal with and they cut corners to save cost as much as they can. Their customer service reps just give you a canned response and you can't get past the person you're talking to to get to anybody else who can make a logical decision. The companies that they want to assign are awful, too. The contractor that we had, Governor's Electric, was a one-off case where they were really great to work with. But for the other ones, when you look at their reviews online, they are the worst of the worst. Then, you can't tell AHS that you don't want this really awful company coming out to your house. You don't have a choice. So, they pay you a nickel on the dollar to hire your own company to fix the problem.

My water heater was about ready to rush out and pop. I did a claim via the internet as I have not gotten a phone number for American Home Shield. And because it was on a weekend, it took a few days altogether to get the issue fixed completely. I didn't have any hot water and I didn't take shower for about five days. But that was okay. That wasn't their fault. When the repair people came out to check, they took the copper pipe off and it burst and water sprayed all over the place. The unit needed to be replaced and it was only a very short period of time before I would have had to clean up a mess in the garage. The repair people did a great job replacing the unit.

American Home Shield covers pretty much from A to Z, including plumbing and hot water heaters. You can select what you want to cover. You don't have to do A to Z. It all depends on the homeowner or the renter or whatever is needing to have things fixed. I had a couple of issues here recently and they have been taken care of. The technicians have been very pleasant and professional. They know what they're doing and get things done in a timely manner. The only thing is I'm still waiting for a part for one of my items that the provider’s getting. It’s just delayed in getting that fixed on my garage. Other than that, my experience has been very good.

American Home Shield had Royal Plumbing out twice for two different cases, and the most recent one was when we had a copper hot water line with a pinhole sized leak in the middle of pipe. I did the best I could to stem the water coming out, then it took Royal Plumbing about a week to come out. There was a bit of a delay because of elevated service, but they called me and let me know. The plumber who came was pleasant. He told me what he was here to do, and he had to run out and get parts after he looked at the water line. When he came back, he did the job right the first time and fixed the issue.
The claims are very easy. There's no hassle. However, the original price that we were quoted was about six months, then after six months, it went up about $10 a month without any kind of notice. 10 bucks a month isn't that big of a deal, and Comcast seems to do the same thing over and over again as well, so I’m used to it. Other than that, I would recommend American Home Shield. My father has it now for his house.

American Home Shield seems to be pretty decent for a warranty company. Sometimes it takes a long time to get people out or they need a part and it takes a couple of weeks to get it, which is annoying, but overall, I'm satisfied. Also, their online portal doesn't have enough selections in the dropdown. I live in an older house so I have things like a boiler instead of traditional HVAC. There have been times when I had to call them over and over to remind them that the people that they're assigning don't do the service that I need and that's a little annoying.
Recently, my dishwasher was completely dead. AAA Appliance came out and replaced a fuse. It worked but the next day, it was dead again. They ordered a control board and it's been working ever since. I like AAA Appliance very much, although I felt like they should have known that replacing the fuse wasn't going to do it. It took a few more weeks for the control board, which was frustrating, but it happens. The service is worth keeping. It's not perfect, but it's good enough. I like knowing that if I have something major, I'm paying insurance to have it covered.

When I submitted my air conditioning claim, I call the American Home Shield number and it was that easy. Then, they contacted an air condition place, I paid the service fee, and that was it. The tech from American Air Condition and Heating Co. was an expert. He treated my home and me with respect. He gave me a rundown of what he was doing and how he was doing. I was well-pleased with the service that I got.

Whenever I have an issue at home, I put in a ticket for it and American Home Shield gets a service technician to fix the problem. They've been doing what they said they were gonna do. Also, the techs have been professional and they fix the problem. Having AHS as a warranty gives me a rest of mind where I know I don't have to worry about a lot of out of pocket expenses.

I have two properties rented out with tenants and I have them both covered on American Home Shield, plus my house. The air conditioning suddenly went out, I called, the AC guy did a good job and fixed the problem. The AC is blowing cold again. Everything was terrific. My tenant was very happy. American Home Shield is a good company. My mom also has her condo covered on it and we had the refrigerator repaired. It was very well done. I would recommend AHS.

American Home Shield has been very responsive and problem resolution has also been high on the list as well. We've been very happy with them. It has proven to be very useful. Things invariably come up owning a home or a condo and it's been good. Our centralized system was not cooling properly and the techs were very professional and timely. They were on site less than an hour.

We raised an issue with our air conditioner recently. A service person came, went directly to the AC, and identified straight away the issue as to why the AC was turning off. He did a lot of clean-up. He cut the pipe and removed all the trash in the pipes. He repeated it and he showed me. He told me I needed to take care of my AC every year. He showed me other ways we could do yearly maintenance and how to change the air filters. He told me and showed me clearly where the issue was. We were very happy about his visit. The person was very friendly and he educated me about a lot of different things.

The air conditioner wasn’t cooling. I did a claim through American Home Shield's web portal. I've used it several times. I've had AHS for almost four years now, and they're a great company. I never had any issues with them at all.

I submitted the claim because my upstairs heating system did not work. Amazing Comfort came around four times and it was a different issue every time they came out. Initially, they said it was a relay switch. Then they said it was a motor and it took three weeks that motor got in. By that time, I spent the whole summer without air and I had to call them to follow up. When they brought that motor in, it was an aftermarket motor and it was so loud that I couldn't even sleep in the house. So, I told them at that point that I couldn't have this motor. They said they'd see if they could do something and that they'd talk to someone, But nobody did anything. When I called them back, they said there was nothing else they could do and that they closed that ticket out.
I had to call in another ticket to AHS and pay another additional fee. It really didn't make a lot of sense to me about why I had to start over when in fact the contractor had not completed the job to my satisfaction. But the rep gave me some extenuating circumstances, which I didn't quite understand. At that point, I was so frustrated with trying to get some air conditioning and I just went on and paid another $70 to get the process started again. I also told the people at American Home Shield that I didn't want Amazing Comfort coming back to my home. Then, I got TC Homes. Their tech said it looked like the motor was an aftermarket one and it was not positioned right. So, they ordered another one, came back another time, and installed it. Since then, I haven't had any problem.

I've used AHS once for the dishwasher. So far, so good. The tech called and said he was on his way. It didn't even take him an hour to get it fixed because it was a drain or a plug.

I had lost three different lights in the house. I had tried to flip the breaker myself, but it didn't work. Jim Conrad Electric came out and did a good job. They said that my breaker had gone out on me. They replaced the breaker for me. I'm happy with that claim, but not with the other. J&J Pumps came out here. I told American Home Shield they're known for being rip-offs. American Home Shield wouldn't cover what happened because J&J Pumps said it was a pre-existing condition and tried to get $23,000 out of me. It wasn't a pre-existing condition. It had happened while I was away. My mom and I had gone out of town, and when we came back, the water was shooting out of the ground. It was something that was supposed to be covered, but American Home Shield only would let me use the biggest rip off people in town. In order for me to be able to pay for it, I went with the trustworthy people in town, Dearman Pump, and I got by with $9,000 instead of the $23,000 and some change.

I noticed a smell and when I opened my water heater door, I saw there was water everywhere. It was shooting out of one of the pipes. Thank God, Arsenal Plumbing came the next day and fixed it. They replaced both of the pipes that were leaking. The same company had come to fix my toilets that another company never fixed. They do a good job. I asked for them ‘cause I was happy with their work. The first company that was ever sent out by American Home Shield didn't do anything. The guy didn't touch it. I kept calling back and saying they never fixed the job.

The appliances that Gary Appliance Repair came over to look at was my refrigerator door, my stove and my washing machine. The techs were very nice, professional, got straight to work and looked at the problem. They fixed the washer that day, had to order a part for the refrigerator, and then had to submit the issue with the oven to American Home Shield.
American Home Shield gave me options. Unfortunately, the options that they gave me were all sold out. I couldn't do anything with any of them. I didn't want to lose or have to keep when I'm already fighting about one other case. So, I just took the gift card from Lowe's and I'll get the oven replaced and let them know or send them proof of purchase so the new oven can get covered.
They should not put limitations on their offers to individuals. If they've already deemed that the stove is not operable, leave the offer and let the person be able to get what they want. I really liked the first stove that was on the list. And then, you're already stressed trying to figure out, "I can't get this one. What am I supposed to do?" So, I wound up picking up the e-certificate because at least I can get it when I want to.

American Home Shield did good. They're a very good company. The service people that I've spoken with are knowledgeable. AHS got me to some good companies that I went though. It has been reliable. You should look into it. Recently, the freezer blew out. The contractor told me what was wrong. They had to order the part. It came in. They had to set up another appointment and got it done.

Water was running across the floor in the storage room. The last company that came rectified what the first company did not. The one I had a problem with was Whitney and the guy tricked me out of $100. He made the problem worse. I called AHS back and complained about the problem not being fixed. So, they sent the second company out.
The second tech was efficient and on time. He diagnosed the problem and corrected it in a timely fashion. He was very cordial and he explained what my situation was. He also took pictures of what the previous contractor did which was wrong. He talked to his dispatch who gave him the authorization to correct it. He did that and explained to me that everything was warranted. I highly recommend him.

There was a capacitor on our AC that blew out on the condenser outside. I submitted a claim online and the AHS website was very simple to use. They assigned Air Max to my claim and they were great. Then, the service tech who came out was Blake and he was awesome.

The tech who came for my plumbing issue was good and I'm happy with him. The furnace guy was really good too. An electrician also came for my cooking range and washer. He fixed the washer and he order parts for my cooking range. Half the job is still pending for three weeks. One day before the 18th, the tech called me and said he would be coming on the 18th. But he didn't show up. From that day up till now, I have not gotten any calls and nobody has shown up.
I am not happy with Home Shield. I call and reminded them two times. I told them, “I want to talk to your manager. Your service is like this.” This was the first time I called them for my repair. Home Shield said the mechanic was backed up. Was there no other replacement for that? Nobody is going to cover that work? I was told the mechanic was going to call me and that Home Shield was trying to set up something. But up until now, I still have not gotten any information.
Home Shield has my card number and they immediately deduct my deductible. I have to clear those conditions and after that, I get a hard time. The gas cooking range is really dangerous because that automatically turns on. Home Shield is giving us a response but they are not taking any responsibility. The first two times I requested to talk to your manager or supervisor about this issue, they didn't give me one. But the receptionist who took my call was good.
I was with Consumers Energy and they were a lot better than Home Shield. They never gave me any hard time. Their monthly payment is also the same as what I am paying to Home Shield. Now, I'm thinking to move back to Consumer Energy. Home Shield should improve their service. If they don't have anybody or somebody is coming late, they have to give us an update. They don't call me back to say, “Okay, our technician is coming this time.” “Our other technician is backed up and we are sorry for that. And we are sending somebody else.” If I am not picking up the phone, they can send a message. They have my phone number.

A1 Mitchell's Heating & Cooling is very honest. They have worked on my unit before and they've been doing a very good job. Recently, the unit wasn't working again. They had some adjustments to make to it. Another time, they had to put freon in it. However, American Home Shield hires people that can't speak very good English. It's very difficult to understand them. Sometimes the phone will ring and ring but we can't get ahold of them when we have a problem. I'm very unhappy about that. Also, it takes so long for them to get in contact with us. We have to keep after them to get results.

The base of the toilet was loose and it was leaking. We called American Home Shield and the contracting company came out and fixed it. They got it resolved within a week. The condo is located 15 miles from Sacramento, California and sometimes, it's hard to get somebody who wants to come out to Woodland to fix anything. So, we end up having to wait a little bit. But other than that, I don't have a problem with AHS.

We've been customers a long time, and I find it easier to get the service by phone. Recently, there was something with the garbage disposal. The guy who came showed me what was wrong and took care of it. He was in and out, and everything was good. We've recommended American Home Shield to all our friends, and a lot of them have signed up.

I have been with American Home Shield for over 20 years for different policies on different properties and there's a lot that can be improved upon. I signed up for well pump coverage and it did not get added to the policy. When I needed it, I couldn't get it because they didn't believe that I added it. But I don't have any control if I asked the agent to add it and they didn't. Also, the wait time over the phone is extreme. My mother and father are 93 and 94 respectively and they don't know how to use the computer. It's criminal that the wait time is like that. That aside, I can't imagine not having a home warranty. It's just not very user-friendly. As a business owner also, I prefer to err on the side of the customer even if it cost me money. In the long run, it will pay me because they won't be talking smack.
I had a claim for a spa repair and the technicians that came out had been out here before. This time, the technician was absolutely fabulous. He got everything installed. But the parts were bad and he had to take them all out. He ordered new ones and came back. He wasn't angry about it. We would use them again. But there was one thing that he didn't fix that I need to call about. I'll have to put in a new service order for it.

I’m very satisfied with American Home Shield because every time I have a problem, it takes a little time, but their contractor comes here. I called them recently, spoke to the agent and explained to her the problem that I was having. The garbage disposal was not functioning. The electrical company came and fixed the problem. The garbage disposal switch was not on. The electrician turned it on then he reset the button. That was when it started running. He explained to me that next time, if that happens, that's what I have to do.

My dryer stopped getting hot. I called American Home Shield and the guy came out and said the thermostat had went out on it. He was very friendly, and professional. He let me know everything he was doing, and he showed me what was wrong and when it was fixed. Since the day he left, everything was working perfect.

I was made aware once the plumber came out that the screws that hold the water tank and the bowl were already somewhat old to where the seal that is between the bowl and the tank was already worn and torn out. The plumber was able to repair it in a timely manner.

My washer stopped working and the techs came out and fixed it. I would recommend American Home Shield if you're a homeowner. I've never heard of some of these places that AHS has contracts with though. They should look for more local places that we're familiar with.

My fridge needed repair. I scheduled for service online and got a call the next business day. A person came out and ordered parts. This was followed by an install once the parts came in. The only delay was for parts as they're hard to get. That aside, the technician was among the best that I've ever seen. I also had a claim for my Ac and that was an easy repair. There was great scheduling and the people were professional. I have peace of mind with American Home Shield in case of a major issue. All was well.

The back wall on the inside of the refrigerator filled up with ice. It turned out to be some thermostat and a fan that wasn't working properly. It took the contractor a couple of trips to fix it. But I was pleased with them.

I had a claim about my garage electricity not working in my garage. I have no electricity out there and techs came out. In the claim, it said telephone wiring. I kept calling and letting them know it was not the telephone wiring but the electricity. One tech said the lines were cut and American Home Shield denied my claim. But that wasn't true. I was really shocked about that because I thought I would have some electricity in my garage. That's a waste of $100 for me and I didn't even get the issue fixed. I let it go but I'm not happy about that claim and with the tech because he seemed lazy and he didn't want to do anything. I had the same contractor out here before and it was a different person and they were great. Other than that, I'm happy about the rest of my claims. American Home Shield is 100% worth it. The coverage makes me feel peace of mind because if something breaks in my home, I know I can depend on them to help me.

AHS is great. During the summer, it takes a little bit longer for AC units to get looked at. But other than that, they come out within a couple of days and they take care of the problem. I had a claim when there was a loud noise coming from the AC unit. Comfort First Heating & Cooling came out and troubleshot it. Then, they ordered the part, came back out, and fixed the unit.

We had several things worked on. We always called American Home Shield on it and we have always had good service with everyone. They always have good people out here. They have always been professional with the refrigerator. We've had just about all of our appliances at one time worked on. They’ve replaced a a couple of ceiling fans. So, it has been wonderful. Our stuff is old and they’re good about working on it.
Recently, the water on the washer wouldn't come in at all. The tech was a very nice young man and he has been here before to work on our clotheswasher, and one other time to work on something that we had. He looked at the washer good and tried to fix what the trouble was. He was and polite and went out and talked about looking for parts. He came back and said those parts were not available. It was an old one and we've had it since ‘95. After that, we had a choice if AHS would replace it or us to go out and get one. So, we went over to Lowe’s and bought one, and submitted the bill to AHS. They gave us back $400 something on it because we paid 700 for it. Everything was all right. Go ahead and get AHS. It's great service.

American Home Shield needs to have a plan in place for people with special needs for holiday and weekend times. When they need help with something in their house, they should have a list of contractors who will work with them on holidays and weekends. Also, if AHS is going to tell you that they're going to have somebody get back to you within a certain amount of time, they need to be aware that they have told people that and keep track of it somehow. And if they give you a number to call the repair people, they need to know that somebody is going to answer that phone call, if you call that repair. Because a lot of times, if you call the number, it goes to an answering machine. If you call Friday before they close, and they don't check their messages before they close, you don't hear from till after Monday.

I put in a claim for the hot water heater but it was never approved by American Home Shield. I told them that the home was new to us. The contractor came out and checked where the water heater comes out. They saw two little wires that had caught fire. Because of that, we were rejected because they said we had caused it. I told them we recently moved in here and those wires had to be replaced because it was not letting the spa heat up. They said that my policy doesn't cover the replacement of the wires. I was very dissatisfied.

My heating system wouldn't turn on, so I didn't have heat. The tech repaired two items in the mechanical room, related to the boiler. He had to get additional parts at one point, but that was the same day. American Home Shield has, for the most part, been responsive, so I haven't looked into any other vendors. Sometimes, there are things that are not under their control, like getting an appliance or part and waiting for that. That has nothing to do with American Home Shield, but just the supply chain. Currently, I have a leak in the pipe in the attic and they didn't have somebody to recommend, so they gave me authorization to look for somebody locally. I'm trying to set up a plumber to come out.

We've had a couple of things come up and so far, the service has been good. Ameri-Tech Locksmith came out very quickly for a rekey and did a great job. I just had to make a service request this morning for a roof leak.

We've been with American Home Shield for 20 plus years and we are thinking of changing. It becomes so difficult to deal with them at a consumer level. We had a water heater problem and they didn't give us enough money to replace it. Also, they put us off. The repairs were way too far out and I'm not just talking about COVID times. The last couple of contractors locally has been great and there were no replacements needed but when there's a bigger issue, it's a huge problem.

I am submitted the service request for a 2+ yr old AC unit. I did complete inspection 1 yr back and no issues found. I purchased the contract with AHS in Sept 1st week. They activated the contract in Oct. I created a service request after 10 days activation as I see my AC unit power was tripped. They sent the technician for inspection. After inspection, they sent the additional payment request for the cost. I agreed to pay as I am aware of my plan coverage. After 2 days they completely denied the service request. I spoke to 3 different customer service members. Each person said, different reason. Very poor customer support team. They said some technical terminology, which common people will not understand. They said as per agreement policy #### this was not covered.
Finally I understood that request was rejected because, "This issue would have identified earlier by doing some regular check up". I really don't understand what should I check for a working unit? They also thought the issue might be exists before the contract (which is technically 40 days before). Very disappointed with the service. Never recommend.

Be VERY cautious when signing up with American Home Shield. Read ALL their fine print. They will auto-renew your contract without any notification. I called in 3 separate times to cancel the policy, but mysteriously they had no record of my calls and continued to charge me. I finally had to do a stop pay on my credit and then they had the audacity to send me a $200 bill for cancelling. Worst company ever to do business with.

My refrigerator wasn't cooling at all and I lost everything in my freezer and the refrigerator. American Home Shield scheduled two people with me and the first person who came couldn’t fix it. The second time, I called him up and the guy said he told AHS to take him off the list because he got in a car accident and he couldn’t fix it. I had to wait again for another person to come. When you explain to a person that they can't repair the refrigerator, they should know. I explained to the lady that this refrigerator was only done by Sears the last time it happened. Finally, the same guy that repaired it the first time came out. He tried to fix it but it didn’t work and he told me I needed the compressor again. It took three days but it’s working now.

I like American Home Shield pretty well. We've extended it usually every year from the initial purchase of our home. We've got some great use out of it. More recently, we had a couple of hiccups with our service requests. The last we heard was that I got some text that said, "Oh, we're assessing what your cost will be." So, I'm not sure what they're doing and what they know or what they don't know. They did the plumbing. We got through that, but we had another service request. As they always do, AHS quickly identified the contractor to complete the work. The problem we were having was with our front door camera. It's hardwired into the wall, like an interior of the house, but it has like the doorbell. It's not Ring, but it's a doorbell that works off of our Google camera system.
I had notified the contractor in advance and said, "Hey, you know what? It wasn't just the electrical. Actually, it's the electrical that's in the wall that's causing our camera not to work anymore. So if you have someone who is familiar with Nest, that's the brand that we have with our camera system. So if you can have someone who is familiar with that to come and do the project, that's the issue that we're having." They said, "Okay. Great. We do have someone who would be familiar with that."
They sent a technician over, and he was not aware of what the problem was. So, I explained to him what had transpired with me talking to the actual company. Then he said, "Well, I'm waiting to hear from my company because there's a chance we won't be able to work on it because of the camera system." I said, "Well, they didn't mention anything like that, but let me know how it ends or what the outcome is." He said, "Well, actually, our company is working with your home insurance to determine whether or not we can work on the wiring because now for whatever reason, it's not capturing our images anymore. We've got with your homeowner's insurance, and they said no, that we couldn't work on it."
We've left that. I said, "Okay. Well, I guess that's the outcome then. But I don't want to lose my $75 because you guys knew what the issue was and can't work on it, and our home insurance company has denied the claim. I had a claim for the garbage disposal thing on the kitchen faucet that wasn't working. A tech fixed the problem but he didn't connect the dishwasher pipe back into it and left it openly hanging. Luckily, I saw that because if I had the dishwasher on, my whole kitchen would be full of water. I called the tech back. He came back and fixed it. I also had a claim for the garage door and that was great. The tech was top-notch. American Home Shield is working well for me. Occasionally, you see some not so great guys coming in and working on things. But overall, I'm happy.

I'm getting to the point where I wanna shop around. American Home Shield have fixed things, but mostly no. I'm getting charged every time somebody comes out here, but there's no guarantee that they would fix anything. I called somebody for my shower, it didn't get fixed. I called somebody for a sink that didn't get fixed. I called someone for my washing machine. And the contractor was supposed to come back and fix it. They said they're waiting on parts, but nobody's coming back. They're personable. It's just that they're not returning like they say that they're going to. That is my biggest issue. It's very irritating.
The only issue that I may have had with one was I was trying to get something done with my HVAC, and it didn't seem like the tech had a clue as to what was going on. Which was very strange, because this is what he was supposed to be doing for a living. Other than that, they've been really good and personable and respectful in the house. My real estate agent said that American Home Shield was a good service to have. That it is if it's the proper insurance and if they're following through like they're supposed to, but I don't feel like I'm getting that portion of it at all. So, I feel like it's a waste of my time and money at this point.

My washer wouldn't function, because the lock was broken and the door wouldn't lock. The tumbler wasn't going around. At the time I called, I talked to an agent, but she didn't schedule the service over the phone that day, because she didn't have anyone on the computer in our area. She had to look it up then call back later with who was gonna work on my washer. When the repair people came, it was okay. I was at work that day, so my sister was the one who dealt with them. Overall, I would recommend American Home Shield. I've had good experiences with them.

The toilet in the main bathroom was leaking. Somebody showed up and fixed it. I also had a claim for maintenance on the outdoor AC unit and that was very good. Techs came, checked everything, and made sure the unit was working fine. American Home Shield is nice. I'm not paying much for the fees and that's why I got it. I'm concerned about the prices outside. American Home Shield provides some good benefits on that.

The fan was making a whole bunch of loud noises and my husband called AHS to come and look at it. Affordable Appliance came out and it was the first time they were able to fix it in a timely manner. For this particular claim, AHS did okay but in the past, they did not.

The door switch on my oven was not working properly and it wasn't making the oven think that it was closed. So, it wouldn't turn on. The techs came and ordered the part. Then, a few days later, they came back and fixed it. Everything is fine and the oven is working properly now and we're all happy about it. American Home Shield gives me the assurance that if something is broken in the house, I can call them and with a fee or with deductible, I can get it fixed. It saves me a lot of money that way. The vendors are all good, call in a reasonable time and get the stuff fixed. I highly recommend American Home Shield. It's something that everybody should have.

Everything went fine. The contractor came in and asked me what happened and why I needed some work done. So I told them that my water heater gave out. It was a thermostat inside the heater that needed to get replaced. The tech replaced it for free. He was professional and got it done in a timely fashion. So I was happy with that.

I put a claim in to American Home Shield and it was pretty fast. They sent me a confirmation email, and then they told me when somebody would be coming out, and then the day of, the guy texted me, “Oh, I’m 10, 15 minutes away." He showed up and fixed the problem with the washer.

They replaced the whole water heater with a new one. This time, the response was quick. It was easier than the last time I did a claim for a refrigerator.

I've had a couple of repairs recently for my refrigerator and my dishwasher. Both went very smoothly and within a very short timeframe with no interruptions to my daily routines. I have tried a few of the other warranties companies and I inevitably end up going back to American Home Shield every time. They offer better coverage, customer service, representation and repair service. They are also more cost-effective.

There are times that we have problems with American Home Shield. A contractor is supposed to be coming to come check our pool pump, but they haven't got back to us. For the claim on the fridge, six technicians came until finally, the sixth one fixed it. It needed to be replaced. The fridge is working, but when it's hot, the ice machine’s not working right.

Wherever the American Home Shield call center is, the people that you're talking to can't transfer you to people at your American Home Shield if you got an issue. They've got to have somebody they can transfer you to that can at least give you guidance on what to do besides call every day. Then, you're on hold for 40 minutes. The pandemic is over, but these companies don't answer their phones. When I had an issue with my refrigerator, every time I called, they would say they were waiting on a part and I needed to call the service provider. But I've called them and they said I had to call AHS. I went back and forth for a long time and it took about three months to get a part. Then finally, they replaced the product. Other than that, AHS has been great on everything else and when I called about other issues, their reps have been wonderful.

The air conditioner compressor had a leak. The techs had to replace the compressor and put in new cooling fluid. They were prompt and did a good job. Everything's working great now. For the most part, AHS has been really prompt in responding to our problems. We're satisfied.

Axis Appliance came out when the icemaker was broken and the oven was not heating up properly. The first tech fixed the icemaker when he came out and they had to get a part for the oven. Then, the second guy came out and he finagled with it for a while and got the oven working fine. I'm very happy with the claim experience.

The guy that AHS sent out was very polite and beyond professional. He came out for a brand spanking new dryer from Best Buy that quit working after about two weeks. Best Buy refused to do anything about, so we thought we'd give AHS a call and they got it fixed. Also, we heard back from the contractor within an hour of making the call and that was impressive. I wasn't expecting it at all.

Service people came out for our sink. There was an issue with the plumbing and a temporary fix. Apparently, there may be some other issues there. That aside, we've been happy with the work done. We are going through another issue right now with our dryer. It's been six weeks and it's still not resolved. That's over a belt. The first company was not communicating very well. They had the belt on order but seemed to not be able to get this. That's not going too well. Other than that, everything seems to be okay. With everything that we had done, American Home Shield has been beneficial so far.

My toilet was dripping into the basement and it turned out the wax seal was broken. I called American Home Shield to put in the claim. I had to do it online once when I had to do my dryer. It was just the knob that you turn and we did the video online. It was cool, me doing that, but that was for naught because it ended up being a disaster zone. After that, I was ready to leave American Home Shield. But they redeemed themselves with Joy Plumbing. They came in, did their work and responded quickly. So, they were a good vendor for AHS to use. It didn't drag on. This time around, American Home Shield came through like they're supposed to. That's what I pay for and what I paid for works like a charm.

Having American Home Shield, there are certain things I don't have to worry about coming out of my pocket to fix. However, it wasn't that good at the beginning ‘cause I had a microwave mess up. They told me to go ahead and buy the microwave then send them the receipt and they’ll review it and pay me up to a certain amount of money. I didn't wanna go through all that, and I just went ahead and bought the microwave. Everything else has been good. I recently had a plumber come out, and he was on time and did something easy.

The most recent claim was for the air conditioner would not turn on. A tech from MJS Mechanical Services came out and he was a nice man and seemed to know what he was doing. I have told others about AHS. Years ago, my hot water heater started leaking and AHS replaced it with no issues.

We had an issue with our refrigerator. The tech said that the refrigerator needed a new part. They ordered, and then they replaced that part, but it didn't fix the problem. I'm a little frustrated right now because we've had a broken refrigerator for two weeks and we still haven't gotten it fixed. I'm trying to get them to come back so they can hopefully authorize the replacement of that refrigerator.

I sent in a claim through the app and it was pretty easy to navigate. It had a decent amount of options to select from. It was pretty straightforward. Then I got a notification through the app, an email, and then the contractor called me. They were quick and nice. They were pretty cool. They knew exactly what was going on. They said the regulator went bad. They repaired it.

The AC stopped working and the tech replaced the condenser on the day that he came. I’ve only used American Home Shield twice and I don't know how great they are when it comes to emergencies, because usually, they’re air. The last time my water went out and I had no water, it took a couple of days before they got somebody. But the vendors are good.

The air conditioner wasn't blowing cold air. It would come on, go off, and then it would not come back on. I called American Home Shield's service line. I was very pleased with the service. I was very pleased with the customer service rep and everything was on time and I had no problems at all. The contractor was very nice. He took care of the problem. He was in and out. Something else was wrong with the unit, and he checked and fixed it. He was very professional and nice. In each house that I've owned, I've always had American Home Shield. You better get it because it's gonna pay for itself with your breakdown of the largest claims. I always tell others it's better to have something and don't need it than to need and don't have it.

American Home Shield is fine and the biggest thing about having them is getting somebody to come out and look at your stuff. I had a claim for my AC and the techs were able to do the one thing that they needed to get done. They went and came back another day and got a piece of insulation for a hose.

American Home Shield has been responsive. When we make a request to have somebody come out, they come out and take a look quickly. So, that's nice. Recently, the contractor came to take a look at our electrical panel and some of the electrical that went to the pool lights as well. The panel is old and some of the breakers that have been put in look like they're not in securely and a bunch of the wiring coming into it isn't being secured with clamps and to code. And the pool light is not turning on. There's a GFCI outlet that has the pool light and the spotlight downstream from it, and it keeps tripping. So, there are some faults happening on the lines with the pool light or the spotlight. They came to take a look at that. They said that the home warranty didn't cover pool equipment. So, they made a recommendation to do work on the panel, but that was not approved. So, no work got done.

The contractor came out to work on our air conditioner and we decided to purchase new air conditioners. The last claim, they came out to fix the air conditioner. It was unable to be fixed because it was messed up and it's old, and we were having difficulty. It was just a short time from the time that we had decided to get new air conditioners. I enjoy working with American Home Shield. It takes a lot of stress off of me. And as far as Texas Heating and Air, Tim was a great individual to work with.

American Home Shield is there when I need them. I won't have to worry about understanding how to fix multiple, different things that might go wrong with appliances and other things in my residence. They have good contractors that come out. It's like a one-stop shop. You contact them. They send the right person out. They fix it. Recently, I've had a plumber to come out and refix some line on my refrigerator. He was in and out in 10 minutes.

The service provided by Comfort First Heating & Cooling was really good. The guy that came out was training a younger guy. He knew all about what had happened. He said right away, "If it didn't work for two days, it froze up." He said it was way low on Freon. He also said, "We can come out regularly and just service it." I have a contract with them now. For $16 a month, they'll come out and regularly maintain the HVAC for me. He said, "If anything goes wrong, then it doesn't fall back on you with your warranty company because you have regular maintenance done." Techs also came out for my dishwasher as well. They were also really good.

Our hot water tank went out on us in our house and the plan that we have covered that 100%. We didn't have to come out of pocket except for our deductible. Then, within two months, our furnace went out. So, AHS sent a guy out who we absolutely loved. There were some major components in our furnace that had gone bad, so they ordered the parts, got them out here and got it fixed. And it cost me nothing more than my deductible of 125. The contractor who came out was great. It was the owner himself that was out here and that guy was honest and nice.
Other than that, I'd recommend a little bit more transparency for other customers of AHS. We got lucky since our plan covered some of the permit process but from what I understand, some of the plans don't cover that. So, some customers get caught off-guard and end up coming 800 bucks out of pocket on a job. Also, if you're going to replace a Bryant home furnace, replace it with a Bryant home furnace, not something from China.

I had a leaky showerhead and the contractor came out to see if they could fix it. They changed the washers on the stems of the shower handles to stop the leak and they were in and out within half an hour. It was easy to request service and the only issue that I had was on the day that they were supposed to come out, I went back into American Home Shield to see the scheduled time that they were going to come and it wasn't listed there. When I called United Air Temp, they said that they had scheduled me as an emergency visit. So, it was from 8:00 to 12:00 midnight and they were able to accommodate me and gave me a short timeframe. That way, I didn't have to wait around for them the whole day.

I like American Home Shield. They're really professional. I had a dishwasher claim that A & J Sales Enterprises came out for. I submitted the claim by phone and they came out in a couple of days. They had to order some extra parts and they replaced that. It started acting up again yesterday and we called them. They said that they’d replace one part but the second part is no longer available because they no longer make it. They're working with American Home Shield right now to see about replacing the whole unit itself if they can't get that part.

The gentleman took a video prior to coming out, and came out and had the right part, and changed it. It was very prompt and good. I pay $75 if there's a problem, but it's peace of mind knowing stuff breaks and I don't have to worry about it. We're happy.

We like AHS very much. We get preferred service and quick callbacks. Everybody who has worked on our house has been very professional and has done a good job. Recently, we had a leak underneath the sink coming from a cracked garbage disposal. The tech was great and he took care of that problem. We also had an issue with a toilet that was just running. He replaced some of the fittings there.
The only thing we've had a little problem with is scheduling our routine maintenance. Other than that, anytime we've had an issue, it's been super simple. It's the first time that we've had a home policy, and it's a really good peace of mind. We've had an issue with our garage door and with our toilet. We've also had one with a hot water heater. We also took care of our HVAC system through AHS. We also had a plumbing and a microwave issue and the tech also fixed the microwave which is amazing. He ordered the parts and fixed it and didn't just put a new one in there. We liked that they fix things and did not just throw them out and fill the dumpsters.

We had a real good guy that came the first time. His name was Raj, and he fixed our cooktop and our washing machine that needed a component in it. Then he went over to the dishwasher, and he said, “Well, we need a seal down here. Let me get that seal and I'll come back.” He did that and then came back. But he said that it was still not working right. So he said, “Well, it’s the motherboard on this. And they're gonna have a hard time finding the motherboard for it. So it's gonna take you guys a little while, but you'll probably end up getting another dishwasher.” He wrote up the problem and then we never heard back from anyone.
We would call American Home Shield and say, “What's the deal? The dishwasher needs to be fixed.” They said, “Well, he was out there. Didn't he fix it?” I told them, “Well, he put in a certain part, but he said that wasn't the reason. It needed a motherboard.” There was a runaround for the longest time. We'd call American Home shield and then they would call the contractor and then the contractor would say that they got the part. We would wait for a couple of days and then call back. But the next contractor would say that the part was not in.
Somebody at American Home Shield finally got to the bottom of it and said, “You guys don't have the part. You've been saying this for the longest time to us and to the customer, and you must not have the part.” So American Home Shield got ahold of another contractor, ALUS Appliance. Then American Home Shield said, “Here's what we're gonna do. We're gonna get you another dishwasher. Because the one you got, we can't get the parts for it.” So they let us pick one out online. Then they got ahold of another contractor. They came as soon as the dishwasher got here, which was perfect. They hooked it. They were great people. We really liked them a lot. ALUS is one of the cleanest contractors that I've seen. When the tech came in here and laid his tools out, he made sure nothing hit the floor. He had little containers for everything and he put a blanket out. He pulled that dishwasher out and even cleaned the bottom of the floor underneath it.

The tech who came out for the pool pump was fantastic. One of the problems as it turns out has to do with my gas company and that's a separate issue that he can't fix. But he was great at being timely, professional, personable, and knowledgeable. He answered my questions in addition to fixing what he had to fix. He also came out the same day we put the request in and he also had the part that he needed in the truck. He did it right then and there and all was good. We are very happy.

I noticed the ceiling water damage. I did a claim with American Home Shield and a contractor reached out the same day which was a Sunday. They resolved the problem. We had to have them come out a second time because I noticed further staining. Then the condensate backup drain was leaking again, so it meant that they didn't clear the clog right the first time. The first tech told me he didn't see any problems when he was there the first time, but to call if it happened again within 30 days and have them come out. The other tech couldn't believe that the first tech didn't see it. But they fixed the problem and everything is working as expected. It's the smoothest warranty process I've had with the company.

In the utility sink, water was shooting all out of the faucet and the whole thing was vibrating when I used it. American Home Shield sent a great contractor. I like that whenever I need anything done, I can call AHS and have it taken care of without having to go through different people giving me quotes and the whole nine yards.

I've had American Home Shield for such a long time and it's a good service. The price is reasonable. I don't have to worry about things. If something happens with the oven or refrigerator, I call the home warranty and they get a contractor. It's usually one or two days, and they come out and fix the appliance. When my refrigerator stopped making ice, someone came out and repaired it. He had to get a part in his vehicle and the repair all happened in one day.
American Home Shield is what I expect it to be. They're prompt and they do what they promise they are going to do. They are dependent on individual contractors. They have to rely on the fact that when they send the contractor, they are going to do good work. That's always been the case so I've never been disappointed.

American Home Shield sent The Lock shop to change my locks. I also had a claim on the stove. Something with the motherboard on the LCD panel went out. A tech came out, and then they had to order the part. He already had scheduled to be out two weeks later and he showed up. Everything's perfect now. So far, AHS has been great. I like that I can just go online, hit schedule, and then somebody calls me and schedules an appointment. AHS is a great company so far.

I put in a request for my mother to American Home Shield for the air conditioner. It was making a loud noise. When I called them, the rep said it had expired. He was good because he said it was fine and I could call my mother. So, I did. My sister was the one that set my mom up a long time ago and she happened to put my name on it. I didn't even know I was on it until I had to call. The guy said no contract was renewed and it’s under a new contract number. He was helpful. The techs came and I made sure my brother was there to understand if something was wrong with it. It was good.

We had a leak in the steam pipe and this developed last year. I did a claim online with American Home Shield and I paid the $100 service fee. I was called soon after to set up an appointment. Within a week, I called back and I was told the claim was approved. Techs came out and looked at the issue. Four or five days later, they came out again and they replaced the steam pipe. It was about six-foot length that came out of the boiler. It was corroded and it was starting to leak. The techs were very good and responsive. I used American Home Shield probably three times in the last two years and everything has been well. They replaced the full hot water heater last year, which was a big job. I'm glad I had the warranty. This is a good investment. I'm happy with American Home Shield.

We had a claim with American Home Shield in reference to our air conditioning unit and it was actually twice as a result of the first issue. The gentlemen that worked for the company were very professional. They worked all day and hard and got the job done. We ended up having to get a brand-new upstairs air conditioning unit and it works perfectly. AHS was able to assist in our needs, just paying the deductible. That helped and they gave us a little bit of portion toward the replacement. I was hoping that we had a little bit more but it is what it is. It would help as well if they give out a newsletter that provides an understanding of what my policy covers and what it does not cover.

The dryer wasn't drying, the dishwasher was backing up and wouldn't get clean and the icemaker stopped working. North Pole Supply came out and fixed them. American Home Shield is worth it, especially because I didn't have to do three separate claims. I only had to fork out $100. People should get AHS.

Everything's been good with AHS and the vendors they send out were professional. When my dishwasher didn't seem to be getting any water in it to wash the dishes, I made a claim and they responded right away. Then, the techs came out, got the part they needed, and came back. They ended up having to replace the pump and the dishwasher is working great now.

I had a claim for the air conditioner and it took the contractor five days to come out. But the technician was real good.

I sent in the claim for the AC online. It was easier and faster than calling. It was pretty simple. Then they sent an automatic text to my phone and email at the same time telling me, "Hey, we got you set up. Technician is on his way." So it was great. When the contractor initially came out, they fixed the AC. But then it went out again in a week. They promptly responded and came over. They sent different technicians the next time. They looked at it and ordered the part on Thursday. The part came within that Friday. They came back Monday morning and fixed it. I haven't had a problem since.

I have people always have problems on weekends. I've had the furnace. But I also had one hot water tank go out on a Friday morning of the weekend of Memorial Day. So, my tenants were out of hot water for three days. They just call somebody or set something up without watching to see if they're open. And I've had that happen in the past when I needed somebody out there on another Saturday and I couldn't get anybody there. The air conditioner wasn't working. So, American Home Shield sent somebody else that only works Monday through Friday. There are people open 24/7. And there was one time when they did that. I called them up. and they said they couldn't. They are not going out until Monday, and I needed somebody out there ASAP. So, they said they would get back to me.
But considering these are rental units, the nice thing about it is somebody calls me about anything. All I need to do is go on my phone and go on to AHS' website and tell them I need help. $100 later and it’s finished. There was a gas leak. The first thing I did was I called the gas company and they went out there to check it out. And they said there was a leak in a connection with the furnace. They turned off the furnace and they turned off the gas. AHS sent out a furnace person, found the leak and got the furnace working. It cost me $100.

The service was good and quick. I had my air conditioning worked on and the issue ended up being a lack of freon. I had to pay a lot more because of that but that's okay. That was in the contract. Also, the tech I worked with was good.

The AC wasn't cooling the house and it turned out it was the condenser that had gone bad on the unit outside. We made a claim with AHS and there was a two-day wait before the techs were able to squeeze us in their schedule. But they were great. The gentleman that came out had been doing air conditioning work for 25 years, so he knew what he was doing. It took him about 30 minutes and he had the part in there. The air has been working great since then. With AHS, it's good to know that I have somebody that knows the type of technicians it's going to take to get the job done and I don't have to hunt for them.

I can sum up my recent experience in one word - great. The claim was for a gas furnace that wouldn't light. A repairman showed up the first day and figured the problem out in 10 minutes. He was very informative. The biggest problem was waiting for a part, which is everybody's hassle in this day and age. I waited about four days.

I'm having a few issues with one of my properties. It’s not American Home Shield per see but more their service providers. Someone came out to do some work and they didn't know what they were doing. They didn't complete the diagnostics and I wound up having to pay twice for someone to come out. The problem still is not fixed. I'm supposed to contact someone else this evening. That aside, American Home Shield is okay.

My air conditioner went out and AHS sent Air Majesty. The tech said there was a wire loose. He put it back in place and it worked. But two days later, it was back to not working. I called on a Tuesday for them to come back out. They told me that the techs would be out either Friday or Saturday. But someone didn't finish the paperwork because the techs didn't come out. So I went without air for a week. The tech from Air Majesty came the following Tuesday and he said, "You're low on refrigerant. That'll be $195." And so I said, "Okay."
The tech also said, "You need to clean the outside of your air conditioner from lawn mower dirt and debris. We charge $390 to clean it." I couldn't afford that. When I was talking to the guy at Home Depot, he said they would do it for $49 and they would do a 10-point inspection. The tech did that and he told me, "You have a leak. The refrigerant doesn't evaporate because it stays in there. If you're needing to fill it up." He showed me stuff that was disjointed and also talked about how the furnace had cracks in it and that carbon monoxide could come out and kill me in my sleep. He pointed out a lot of things that weren't brought to my attention by Air Majesty. The tech went up to my attic and saw my furnace. So he would have had some inkling about the situation.
I've asked people about their home warranties and so I toyed with the idea of leaving AHS. I pay $66 a month and I felt that something fell flat with this situation.

Contractors usually fix the problem. But this one, I don't know what's going on with it. They have come three times, but the problem is still the same. My dryer wasn't drying up good. I keep putting it on on. The tech came. He said he fixed it, but the problem wasn't solved. So, I told him again. He said he would change the timer on it. It's worse than it was before. It makes a weird, loud noise. Plus, I can time only one cycle. I could dry now if I put it on time, I put 40 minutes time. Otherwise, none of the other cycle is drying up. Even if I put it on jeans or extra hard, it's not working.
American Home Shield is supposed to send somebody again. That has been 10 days ago. They said, "Somebody will call you for service again." But nobody called yet. I wish they could handle this situation better than they did. Because I'm not drying my clothes anymore. I'm having a hard time. That noise is bothering me. But last year, I had a problem with the roof. They fixed it. I had a problem with the heat, they did it. I recommended AHS to a couple of people.

My dishwasher broke. I put in a claim online and American Home Shield had Sears call and ask me for information on the unit. They took things like serial numbers. I even sent them a picture of where it was broken and what I felt was wrong with it. Sears then ordered the parts so that it was here when they got here. The part was here when they got here, and then all they had to do was put it on. So, it saved them a trip out, and then they didn't have to come back because they didn't have the part. I am a lot more comfortable with American Home Shield using Sears as their main supplier of work due to the fact that I had had another home warranty company and they kept sending people out that were at the bottom of the barrel as far as people that were working on houses.

The last experience we had went well. I've only had one experience where it was a nightmare. But that wasn't this last one. So, overall, we're happy we purchased the product and been a part of it. I noticed the pilot light on my water heater went out one time on me. I was able to get it relit, but it went out again and I figured there was a problem. My dad and I are relatively handy, but I knew we had American Home Shield. So, I didn't want to do things that would cause problems for me, in case there was something bigger. So, I called American Home Shield and they responded quickly. We had a contractor assigned and he was very good. He was friendly, informative and got it fixed up as quick as anybody could and everything has been good since.

No matter what happens or who AHS used to get something fixed, it's always a very small company because they're never in a company car. It's their personal car with some tools in the back. They appear to cater to a certain demographic. I don't care who fixes my stuff. It's just a strange coincidence that no matter what it is, the people speak the same language. Sometimes it's difficult when you're trying to explain something and their English isn't very good. But I can deal with that. They're hard workers. They get the stuff done. They appear to have a good knowledge base on it. Skill set wise, the guy was fine. He had all the tools and got the job fixed.
The biggest problem I have with American Home Shield is the time it takes to do stuff if something breaks. In most things, they will get your stuff fixed. But for what we pay, plus the copay, they aren't fast enough. Our refrigerator went out a few weeks ago and it took three weeks to get somebody out before it was finally fixed. Three weeks to get your refrigerator going when you have a warranty that's supposed to cover that is excess is too slow. So, I was not happy with that. If they could just speed up stuff, it would be a lot better.

We called American Home Shield for the refrigerator. We had to wait for some parts. It took a week or two. But the tech was able to get it fixed.

The issue that I constantly run into with American Home Shield is they're sending people out who either don't wanna do the work or do the work kind of half-assed. They don't complete the work or it's just horrible quality. One of the service calls I've made was for the dishwasher. Water was not coming out of it into the sewer line and a plumber came out and looked at it. He said he couldn't do anything and that we were gonna have to get a second opinion. That means I would have to pay for another service call. I called American Home Shield and told them they need to send another plumber out. Another plumber came out and he said the issue was a little cap that was in the disposal that wasn't removed.
I've also had an electrician come out and he had to replace two electrical components switching off the light plates. Three weeks went by and I never heard from him. I called back and asked what was going on and they said he completed the file. They called him four times and said I can call him. I shouldn't be calling them. But he came back out and fixed it. I also had a pool person and he was a very nice guy but he said he would order the motor and that has not been ordered. He has not called back. We have no idea what's next on the pool so I have to call them back. It's been a very horrible experience.

The first time we used American Home Shield, we wanted to get our ducts cleaned. They said with the program I had, they couldn't do that. Then our refrigerator was going bad. It was just making a loud noise, and it wasn't cooling. That was when we had a very bad relationship with American Home Shield and the company that was assigned to us. We had a couple of claim issues going on with them. However, American Home Shield made everything fine. They sent some new company out to fix our refrigerator.
I have been telling everyone about how good American Home Shield is. Recently, our washer wasn't working. The water was coming out, and it was stuck. It would just run and run. Sears couldn't fix it. It was outdated. They brought out a new washer and took the old one out. They were very nice and careful. The old washer was very heavy compared to the newer ones.

We had a water heater issue and we were up against the wall as far as timing. When I called American Home Shield, they sent someone out. This was the weekend, so they had someone here on Monday and that was the Bear Plumbing. The gentleman came, assessed, and returned with his report to AHS. I'm quasi-satisfied with the report because, as I read the contract, it appeared to me that the water heater was within the terms of the contract to be repaired. However, they denied. It's dubious language. When I spoke with their representative, they were going to refund me part of the payment. I later received a letter saying that they didn't find anything wrong. So, I haven't heard any more about the refund of the payment. But all other areas of their performance was good. They were efficient.

The first time I had to call American Home Shield out, they didn’t do anything. They said my contract was too new and they weren't gonna fix my air conditioner or heater. So, I have none at all right now. Still, I highly recommend them. It's nice to have something just in case something goes wrong in your home.

One of the knobs on my stove, when we had turned it to turn on, stayed on and you can’t shut it off. I had to power off the knob. Ramco came weeks later. They never showed up with the part that supposedly they were ordering. They never followed up. They just went and shut off the valve. I contacted American Home Shield and it was tedious. They have their way of following up. They said they were going to have to try and reach Ramco. I told them I've done it. I've called every day. Finally, I spoke to another lady and she was on it, calling me every day. They had to submit that the contractor wasn't doing their job. They closed it out then put in another ticket. Sanchez Appliance Repair came out quickly and was on it. The gentleman was nice. He replaced two knobs because there was another one that was already faulty.
This is my second year with American Home Shield. I have three accounts with them on three different homes. They're expiring any day now. My husband and I are discussing whether we're going to renew or not. On this claim, it wasn't American Home Shield. It was the contractor. On the other call on another home, I didn't have any issues with the contractor at all.

The tech was awesome. He broke down everything to me. Everything has been good with the service. Without the warranty, the cost would me more than what I can afford. So, I don't have a problem paying the $100 deductible.

I probably will look for another home warranty. When Sears did the repairs, they left me what they were going to invoice American Home Shield for, and it was only $95. Is American Home Shield making money off my $145 copay?

I bought the house on the condition that the person selling the house would have insurance to replace anything that went wrong in the first year that I lived there. And it was American Home Shield that they used. Sure enough, I had a furnace, air conditioner, and hot water heater go out within the first year and they were taken care of.
Recently, the water heater's bottom had leaked. There was a hole in the bottom. All the water was leaking out. It was 10 years old. I submitted the claim, and within two hours, the company called me and made an appointment. The next day, the contractor came and checked everything out to see what was going on. The contractor was professional and respectful. They cleaned up their mess when we were done. I’d hire them again. It went pgood, except American Home Shield called me and said that I had to take a check because I would have to get it installed myself. Somebody said, “Well, you don't have enough room.” I don't know why, because I had a 50-gallon heater in there, and they put a 50-gallon heater back, and it fit in the same place.
My expectation when I bought this insurance years ago was that they would be willing to help me when I had a problem. But all I got was, “We'll send you a check because we can't do the work. So, you have to call a company, set it up, and they'll install it. You pay them, then we'll pay you after you prove to us that it was done.” I’m not sure that the person that I talked to was even in this country, from the sound of his accent. I am very impressed with the contractor, but very unimpressed with American Home Shield. I am debating whether to keep my insurance with this company.

It's important that American Home Shield gives good training to the people that handle the communications. Because I spoke with the insurance, and my wife explained what was going on, and the person that was abroad didn't understand or could not connect to understand what was going on. He mentioned it was the AC. So, they brought another company first. It wasn't AC. It was the water heater. A lot of people may work for the insurance, but they don't own a house or their house are different or they don't know the different kind of heating and AC systems people have here in America, so it's important to let them know.
Finally, this other company called AHS again, and they called Liberty. They worked on the issue. They had to come back two more times as a recall because the issue was not solved. Finally, the issue is solved and we're not experiencing any more issues with the baseboard heater and the heating system that we have in our house. It's working better than it was before. Liberty was very professional and courteous. For me, plumbing is like neuroscience. So they explained, they took the time. The third time they came, they were at least five hours working. Not a complaint, they brought different technicians until they found the right guy that solved the issue. They tried some things, they didn't work out, and they tried again. So, I'm very happy with the way they proceeded. I'm happy that we have the insurance, because they attended very quickly and smoothly. I'm very happy with the experience.

American Home Shield is a one way communication to me. They are very aggressive, and there's no compromising. Nobody cares what to do. I am just with them because I am so busy I don't have a time to shop for it. If I have a time, I will definitely change. I have a monthly invoice for $75. But all of a sudden now it's 97. I called them back and they said, "This is our new prices." I said, "Well, did you not even think of speaking to a customer and telling the prices are changing by 20%?" They told me, "Oh, if you want, you can stop the services. Thank you. Bye." But the team that takes the order of anything broken is very good. The reason they're good is because they're sitting in the Philippines. If they were sitting over here, they will be the same like everybody else.
The problem with the contractors is they are backed up. Once they receive a request, they have to do their own scheduling. So if there is something urgent, forget it. You will not get a service. By the time you call and somebody comes in, it's a three-day turnaround time. The main issue I have with American Home Shield is the person you are talking to. In any organization, if you are not satisfied you go one level above. But in American Home Shield, there is nobody. The person you are speaking to is the ultimate god. That's the only final person you're going to get to.

I had to do five or six calls for the fridge. I was getting redirected to three companies that didn’t work with the brand. Even on the voicemail, those companies were saying that they do not work with a Kenmore fridge. After calling and explaining that this company I was getting redirected didn’t work with the brand, American Home Shield would send me to a different company that also didn’t work with the brand. I finally got with a representative that put me with Sears. After that, they ordered the parts and two weeks after, they did the work. It wasn't supposed to be two weeks after, but they changed up the schedule from September 12th to the 26th. They had a technician issue. I spent May until this month to get the fridge fixed. It was a long, tiring experience.

My air conditioner quit blowing cold air. I did a claim and I was not the most impressed with Home Shield but things were good with the gentleman that came out to work on the air conditioner. The turnaround time was one day, which was quick. We were surprised.
