The agent that I am dealing with as a renter is unprofessional and doesn't follow the law. I get a 24 hrs notice for any showings and she's texting me at 7pm for a next day showing. She's using the fact that I'm the sister of the seller to try and do whatever she wants. She also asked for keys (I have dogs and it's illegal to ask). Telling me I have to leave the property. Shady dealings all around. Kaija ** doesn't deserve a realtor license. She's pushing us out early bc she's pushy and obnoxious. She also said bc I won't allow immediate viewings that Zillow pulled the listing. Sorry but my lease trumps zillow.

Our house appraised a high amount and we priced our house relatively low so we could sell quickly due to moving. Every time we lowered the price of our home, Zillow would under estimate (zestimate) our home significantly. This site is a scam and gives buyers false sense of appraisal.

During my home buying experience on Zillow I highly encourage anyone that chooses a house off of Zillow to view the property first before seeing the property on the inside with the realtor these Realtors are posting pictures from when they first were built, not current pictures. The pictures on Zillow looks good but in person they look nothing like the pic. They look inhabitable.

I'm pretty sure if these realtors that list these properties visited these properties they probably wouldn't want their names to be attached to these inhabitable dumps m, I have visited 10 or more properties and none of them look nothing like the pictures on Zillow. One of the properties I visited the front door was wide open. I think that Zillow should hold the realtors that post these houses accountable for being misleading so for me right now I wouldn't even give Zillow one star. It's more like a zero. I just encourage you to not go by the pictures go by the property then get in touch with the realtor if you like it. Thank you.

Zillow is disgusting. After notifying me that they published my review of a no-show real estate agent in CA, they told me to edit my review, which they pulled after the real estate agent responded. Her response was a shuck and jive word salad that basically repeated what I had already written, i.e. that she was a no-show! My question to the real estate agent as we were arriving to the property, before she hastily claimed to have postponed our appointment, was about the very flood maps that Zillow showed for the property that we wanted to view. These Zillow hacks consistently post homes that are PRONE TO FLOODING for upwards of half a million dollars, and they are doing this in my community in AK! Right now, there is a burned out property that has been raided by druggies that is listed on Zillow for over $600000!! Zillow is a scam company and should be shut down.

I can not reach anyone on a phone call, unless it is someone trying to sell me something. I have used the help/support email over, and over, and over at least 10+ times and have not received a single response. On my Zillow profile page, seven, yes seven years of sales just not showing up. Millions of dollars in sales. I get calls all the time from Zillow trying to sell me premier agent, but they don't have the time to respond to an issue. WHY would a Realtor pay for their service when they don't call back or even acknowledge that you have contacted the support.

When contacting a customer service rep ... that is a nightmare. Long response delays, responses that do not at all address the issue posed, the agent are pleasant in their response tenor but fall way short of being able to solve an issue or even explain a good work around the issue that YOU are experiencing.

I set up the parameters on Zillow for the type of rental I want, the price and location. It is one thing to send me notices of rentals a town over, but it is another thing to send me rentals for double and more above the rent I can afford. They even ask if you want to stretch your budget. If I could stretch my budget, I would. Does Zillow make more money if someone rents an apartment above their stated amount? My email is filled all day long with Zillow telling me about apartments way over my price limit. I opened another email address just to send them all to because the few I want just get lost in the flood from Zillow. In addition, I would ask the landlord or realtor a question through Zillow and never receive a reply.

Finally, after months and months of no replies, I realized 99% of the answers were that the recipient does not use Zillow for communications. Good to know! The search for an affordable rental in this market is daunting. There have been listings that were misleading about the rent or availability. Even worse is to find out that not only do you need to cough up first, last, and security deposit, you have to even pay the realtor a month's rent. It is not always apparent that the listing realtor gets a fee from the renter. I use Zillow because I have. It is safe to say that Zillow does not have the best interest of renters in its marketing methods.

I've literally been searching for 6 months now full time at that and the number and volume of incorrect listings is disheartening to say the least. The people literally play with their listings on that website in terms of how frequently they change the price change. The availability most of the sites are not real that's listed in. By that I mean the properties themselves are in a state of repairs so much to where it couldn't be running anyhow and I guess that's why they continue to play with the listings. So this is just a warning. I hope wherever you end up at that you are successful in your search but I'm pretty sure it will not be with this website.

The new algorithm considers the price at the last time of sale, or so their autobot states. That's ridiculous. We put in over $100k in renovations and the market has gone way up in the last few years. There's a house on the next block that is showing $50k more than mine and it should be burned down. I was also told I would have a dedicated account manager.

However, once the leads started coming in, it quickly became apparent that they were not qualified. Many leads were already working with other agents, while others were just browsing and had no intention to buy. When I raised this issue with your team, I was met with poor excuses. I repeatedly contacted my account manager, but my calls went unreturned, and when she did respond, it was days later with unhelpful responses, claiming they would look into the matter, but no action was taken.

As the poor-quality leads continued, the level of service from my account manager deteriorated further. Eventually, I managed to speak to a supervisor who informed me that my account would be canceled due to dissatisfaction. Despite this, I was recently contacted by Zillow, attempting to offer me another service, which I declined.

The landlord failed to mention that he was a registered sex offender, however he did tell me that he had been incarcerated when he was young therefore in the lease it states no firearms, no ammo.

I personally do believe in change. Out of respect I did not question, never give the benefit of the doubt. Always protect yourself. Do a background check. He is a registered sex offender, who paints a picture of himself as being a Savvy businessman. The lease that I did in fact sign has many loopholes to protect him but at the end of it screw me out of money once I learned of his crime. Less than 36 hours after signing the lease I had already moved out and asked for my money back, realizing that that was not going to happen so willingly.

Just some information for those of you renting. The landlord is supposed to provide you or disclose any information in reference to sexual offender in the area, even more so if you are renting a room /apt. in the same dwelling as the sex offender. You should most definitely be made aware of this before signing the lease. I was only made aware of that there was time spent in prison. Not fully aware of the severity. Being a mother of two young adult children, and one with a history of being the victim I quickly got out of there. If I had been aware I would never have signed the lease or even tempted to go any further with moving in. So for your own protection look into the people that you're renting from... And the saddest part of it is, he continues to do this sort of thing racking up money from unsuspecting and trusting individuals like myself keeping deposit, just to tell you that you should have asked.

Not only do they have scammers on their website. They have landlords that don't want an application through them. So the landlord messages you their own website to have to pay yet again another fee to do the same thing that you paid for on Zillow. Therefore if you ask me Zillow should not be asking for any application fees if the landlord wants an application fee of their own let them be but to put one here and then have to pay one for each one I apply for is ridiculous. We became Zillow Premier agents 5/29/24. Our first experience was a showing "no show," that was double booked with another Zillow agent, at the same property, 30 minutes prior. Agent support could not explain how this could happen. We agreed to paying $800/month for 4 leads who Zillow said would be verified pre-screened, pre-qualified leads that are ready to buy and are requesting to book appointments. This lead counted as one. With multiple calls, emails, and an escalation to supervisors, Zillow still has no explanation how this happened. They have now credited $250.00 for this one lead. In 2 months, we have had 2 bookings, both no shows. 2 calls were customers who already have agents, 2 calls were customers who requested to speak with listing agent only, 1 who pushed button to speak with for sale by owner, and none who were pre-qualified or ready to buy.

In addition, we had multiple messages that we had missed a Zillow connection call, though our phones did not ring. We connected two phones to our account to ensure that we didn't miss calls and troubleshooted re-uploading app, resetting phone options, etc. and could still not answer calls once they did ring. Each of these went against our answer % rate and showed as missed or declined. When we received other calls they repeatedly failed to connect though we answered every time. We reported this multiple times through calls and emails and requested a refund. Agent support assured us that they were working to resolve and app was being updated and problem was being reported to their engineers then committed to follow up but would not return calls nor have ever provided compensation. Each failed lead was a missed opportunity to connect with a potential client which is impossible to put a price on.

None of this was due to our phone system or lack of understanding how to answer. Our phone works perfectly for our other lead system and agency calls. We wanted to do this review in case any agents are considering becoming a Zillow premier agent. Don’t waste your time or money. We have looked at reviews on a lot of different platforms and a lot of them have had a similar experience so please be diligent to see if what we are saying is true.

No complaints about the usefulness of Zillow for buyers, sellers, landlords, tenants and, of course, realtors. I wonder, however, whether Zillow and similar applications also created exceptional laziness among realtors? I have tried countless realtors both as buyer and seller. The first thing that realtors do is to set you up with automated notifications.

For the most part, these have nothing with what you really want. More seriously, it seems that realtors now expect their clients to go through Zillow, which I do at least five times per day, and for clients to choose what to see. No initiative at all on the part of the realtors that I have encountered in the past ten years. None apparently remembers our preferences, nor pick up the phone to suggest a property that may interest us. I wonder what realtors are paid for when they do not apparently scan daily the automated listings that they themselves had set up for clients?

The truth is that I really resent the hefty commission that realtors get merely for getting you to sign papers that probably you should not have signed in the first place. Lesson number 1--do not sign any paper committing you to a single realtor for any length of time. Lesson number 2--even if you do not have the slightest intention of becoming a realtor, get a certificate and keep it up to date. If you only buy or sell a house once every three years, you would have already made a tidy profit with commission, whether you are the buyer or sell your own home.

I am a licensed Realtor. Zillow has taken all the buyer leads from all agents, and makes us pay to get those leads. It used to be that the listing agent was in the "contact agent" button. Now if a consumer clicks on that link it will send you to any crappy agent who wants to pay THOUSANDS of dollars per month to receive leads. Same thing with Realtor.com. The National Association of Realtors is totally corrupt and makes us pays hundreds of dollars in dues and then they sell your consumer information and Realtor's personal information to make money off of all of us.

Look at a listing, then scroll down to see who the listing agent is and then call them direct. Do not click on "contact agent" on any website. There is no criteria to becoming an agent who will sell you your largest financial asset that you own. Consumers, do your research. Also, Zillow Group owns DotLoop. Your agent / Realtor uses DotLoop for your transactions. It is a cloud-based platform for electronic storage and signatures. Realtors are forced to use DotLoop, our brokers make these decisions. Because Zillow owns DotLoop, your private transaction details are not private.

Zillow can read all the documents - here is a quote from an article about it "Does Zillow have access to your transaction data? If you use Dotloop, Zillow just might. When Zillow acquired Dotloop in 2015, Dotloop offered a privacy guarantee – which stated that Zillow wouldn’t have access to any user data without permission. However, in mid-2020, that changed. Now, you have to opt out of Dotloop data sharing with Zillow. So, by default, Zillow has access to your Dotloop transaction data dating back to 2016. With your transaction data, Zillow can improve their own tools – like Zestimate and advertising." Zillow does not care about the consumer. I hope there are more lawsuits against NAR, brokerages, and Zillow. The entire industry is corrupt!

I applied to rent a home through Zillow, used the Zillow online application. Zillow asked me for my Social Security number, date of birth, all personal information, for proof of my income, etc. I applied to rent a home. I paid for Zillow to get my credit score, and it came back at 817 points. I proved I had large income this year due to selling a property, in addition to two other incomes. The rent for the home was about $3,300 a month. I easily qualified. I stated my reason for moving was I want to sell my house and rent a house. The potential landlord came back on me and said I have to sell my house first and pay him one year's rent. His listing says month to month rent, no mention of one year's rent upfront.

So, concerned Zillow had given a private party all of my personal information and the landlord changed the rent to yearly rent, one year in advance, I contacted Zillow about it. Zillow came back saying they are keeping the home for rent in Zillow, blamed me for giving out my personal information. I filled out the Zillow application, did what the Zillow application told me to do. I did not personally give anyone my information. Zillow blamed me so it can keep the account, pretended I gave someone my personal information. So, I put in fraud alerts with all three credit reporting agencies and notified both the potential landlord and Zillow that I put in fraud alerts.

The problem is Zillow showed a private party, not a rental agency, my credit score, income, etc. and then the private party rejected my application showing like 3 times. The income needed to qualify. So, I see it as potential identity theft situation, and Zillow simply told me not to be giving out my personal information. I would not recommend using Zillow's online rental application as the information goes not only to rental agencies and apartment complexes, it goes to private parties. The only other reason the potential landlord would ask for about $40,000 from me at one time, for a whole year's rent, is he saw I had money and wanted a lot of money at one time. Zillow should have taken his ad down once he went from listing a monthly rental to a year's rent at one time.

Their initial promise of delivering two viable leads per month was enticing, but what they conveniently neglected to disclose was that these "leads" could potentially be realtors, FSBOs (For Sale by Owner), or individuals already associated with a Zillow agent. This lack of transparency is profoundly unethical.

I've been using Zillow for quite some time, and while I appreciate the platform's efforts to help people find the right real estate agents, I'm deeply disappointed by its review policy. Zillow's refusal to publish negative reviews is a major drawback that undermines the credibility of the platform. In my recent experience, I had a less-than-satisfactory interaction with an agent, and I wanted to share my honest feedback with the Zillow community. However, to my surprise, Zillow rejected my negative review because I hadn't formally hired the agent in question. This policy essentially silences the voices of individuals who have had negative experiences with agents, preventing them from warning others about potential pitfalls.

Transparency is crucial in the real estate industry, where significant financial decisions are made. Buyers and sellers deserve to have access to a complete picture of an agent's performance, including the good and the bad. Zillow's current review policy only serves to create a biased, overly positive image of agents, which does a disservice to users. I believe that Zillow should reevaluate its review policy and consider allowing reviews from all perspectives involved in a real estate transaction. This would not only enhance the platform's credibility but also empower users to make more informed decisions when selecting an agent. In summary, while Zillow is a valuable resource for the real estate market, its refusal to publish negative reviews is a glaring flaw that needs to be addressed. Let's work toward a more transparent and user-centric review system that benefits everyone in the real estate community.

Instead, I received a call from Zillow trying to hook me up with a buyer's agent. I told the Zillow Agent I did not want a Buyer's Agent but wanted the Listing Agent to answer a question I had for them. When I asked her for the Listing Agents contact information, I was told by the Zillow Agent, "You'll have to research the Listing Agents information yourself." The site is good for looking at what inventory of homes may be available for purchase, but not for contacting anyone with a question about the property.

Inaccurate information and $35 monthly fees for applications that never make it back to applicant. For example, why do applicants have to have 10 landlords run a credit check on them when they can simply tell the landlords their credit standing and save all the 10 application fees? Also, Zillow.com makes you pay $35 for unlimited amount of rental applications you can submit in a month period. I've done this for 3 months and not one application made it back to me. Why is credit the only criteria for rental denial? This is an evil scheme setup by Rental industry such as Zillow.com where the majority of applicants scramble over their applications in an attempt to get a place to live. In the process, numerous run to credit checks can damage their credits further and waste their fees for the applications they know will get denied anyway based on credit alone - even without eviction record. This is a violation of civil rights and should be declared unconstitutional.

If you put too much detail, which is often necessary to tell the story, they will say it doesn’t comply with the guidelines. When you try to pin them down and ask, they are onerous, obstinate, and won’t tell you why it doesn’t comply with the guidelines or what needs to be taken out. Often, upon reading the guidelines, you find the review does comply. The rules and guidelines also aren’t applied consistently. My neighbor who maintains nothing around his house who has less land, less square footage (3800) who pays similar taxes, who lived in the same community almost as long as I have so no home sales, has a home valuation of !! $261.00/sq ft. When I called their customer service no one answered, when I wrote and complained I got the ** answer that their algorithm is deciding it. I'm an engineer with masters and a computer/software test professional. If both homeowners have access to the SAME form to describe their home features, if both bought around the same time and pay the same taxes, and if one is much better house with tons of renovations...how come the better home worths almost 30% less in SQ FT. The only explanation to this is intentional manipulation.

Potential consumers should give zero credence to Zillow's home value algorithm. It's far from accurate... sometimes being 40% or more inaccurate. For example, my home is valued by Zillow to be 41% less than my neighbor's house, despite my house having over 400 more square feet of living space, twice the garage space, and my house being new (neighbor's house is about 40 years old). The irony is that the County's tax assessment shows my house being valued at 19% MORE than my neighbor's house. Assuming the county's tax assessment is more accurate than Zillow - relative to value comparison - Zillow's estimate for my house is about 41% less than what it should be, assuming my neighbor's house is accurately valued by Zillow. I have contacted Zillow multiple times to get them to re-evaluate home value listings in my neighborhood in light of the discrepancy noted above. Each time, Zillow responds by saying that they stand behind their algorithm - even when there is obvious flaws - and they have done zero investigations. Don't trust Zillow!

First & worst experience with Sado ** at Zillow. Let’s begin with the fact that he does not answer the phone, I’ve called numerous times during the Refinancing process & not once has he picked up the phone, I can only get through to him when he needs information from me. Sado was extremely confident with the appraisal being waived. Here is a text directly from Sado regarding the appraisal, "Ok so No Cash to Close, not a penny out of pocket. We're paying off/consolidating the Mortgage and the Main Student Loan of 33k. All in all about 671 as your new Mortgage Payment going forward. All the while, no appraisal needed."

A couple days later it seemed that we needed an appraisal ordered after he stated that it wasn’t needed. He told me that Zillow would waive the $500 appraisal fee. The appraiser popped in & within 2 hours of the appraiser leaving (on a Saturday) I received an email from Sado with the revised docs with a higher estimated payment. My question is how can docs be revised if the appraisal report wasn’t even in yet, I mean the appraiser just left & within 2 hours I get an email with revised docs. I attempted to call Sado several times afterwards & again he Never answers.

I was fed up & switched to another financing company called Octane which gave me a better interest rate & most importantly answers the phone when I call. I proceeded with Octane & terminated the relationship with Zillow. A week later they sent me an email with a $500 appraisal charge. I called Sado (of course no answer). He then texts me apologizing for being busy. I explained why I’m terminating the relationship with Zillow & he then told me that Zillow was only going to roll the Appraisal into the loan when he clearly stated the appraisal would be waived. Sado doesn’t seem to communicate well at all! Telling someone that Zillow would eat the appraisal fee then say it was only going to be rolled into the loan so I wouldn’t need cash to close has deception & scam written all over it. Dalisha **, the underwriter at Zillow also assured me that the appraisal fee was waived. She is another one that does not answer the phone under any circumstances!

I will never again use Zillow for anything in the future. Everything mentioned here is exactly what occurred. I have the entire text thread as evidence yet Zillow keeps denying my review & tells me I should alter it. Zillow, please state which part you find illegal & if it is regarding an appraisal waiver attempt then Sado is guilty. How is it logic for my review to be flagged when this is exactly what happened! The only reason I put one star - there is no negative stars. This is a big scheme. Our office is a real estate office. They talked us into purchasing the leads. Few years back it was making sense. But now.... First of all they lie about market share that you are buying. When we decided to spend $1,000 per month they said that we were buying 30% of market share for a given zip code. So, we were getting some calls until everything came to a halt. We called our rep and he said that we don't have 30% anymore. They said that somebody purchased more. But there was an opportunity to buy more market share and they talked us into spending $1,600/month for 54% of market share. This was automatically putting us into position #1.

Well, few months later our name disappeared again. We called in with the questions and we were told that this market is no longer at 100%. Now it was guaranteed 3 slots at 100% each. After few more sales pitches they talked us into purchasing 70% of market share for $3,200 per month. Few months later our name is again nowhere to be found! So, we called again and this time we are told that this zip code is outperforming and they "ADDED MORE INVENTORY (?????)" and if we wanted to still have our market share/presence we would need to add another $3,000 in addition to $3,200 per month.

Well first of all this is constantly changing rules game/pyramid. But here is the trick how 'MARKET OUTPERFORMING' - they connect us with clients who are trying to buy the property that is already under contract! they also connecting with clients who want to work exclusively with listing agent. There are tons of fake calls/connections. They are connecting with people who already have an agent and their agent simply is out of town today or have a family function and cannot show today. AGENT! HOW ZILLOW NOW SOCKS IT TO THE HOME SELLER (without a realtor)- FSBO

    From Zillow

"Moreover, earlier this year, we added new options to sort listings on Zillow. Listings are filtered into two categories: ‘Agent Listings’ and ‘Other Listings. You can easily toggle back and forth to find great homes in each category."

FROM THE HOME OWNER AS SELLER TO ZILLOW

You might pass along the, Forcing "Other Listings", now a reality, puts all FSBO home sellers at a major disadvantage. I research homes for sale all the time and missed that extra step completely, as it does for most others. By not even showing my home is for sale in the satellite roof top view, everyone thinks nothing more is for sale on my block with a realtor’s listing next door. If only the realtors know to look for the FSBO sellers grouped together, like shooting fish in a barrels, separately, and apart, then I understand why. I have zero response from my advertised open house last week, and multiple calls from agents fishing for a listing. It all looks like an intentional concept to support complaints from realtors having to find or contend with FSBO’S at the expense of the FSBO (home owner). You must now be excluded from the Open House listing and forced to hit a button tagged other listing to see your open house ad.

No one sees the FSBO ad, and this Zillow change, puts the, "home owner for sale", and the “Home to Buy Researcher”, at a tremendous disadvantage! Then, there is the always maligned Zestimate to contended with… My home is for sale at $459,900.00. New to Zillow, Zillow has made an offer to buy my home at $443,000. We closed on time and everything went smooth and I would sell a house through Zillow again if the need arises. I did try other sites too but I found Zillow to be the easiest one to do business with. I would recommend them to anyone.

Without Zillow we wouldn't have found our house or wouldn't have found it in time. We had told our agent to remove a certain city from our search list as we were frustrated trying to find a home. Zillow still remembered our search criteria and emailed a new listing in above mentioned city within minutes of it going live. We immediately called our Realtor, toured the house and placed a winning offer all within 6 hours of receiving the email from Zillow. We are so thankful for Zillow or else we would've never bought our dream home! It's worth mentioning Zillow's information and data WAS accurate. Forever grateful for this website.

Zillow was able to resolve the issue to my satisfaction.

    Original Review: Aug. 9, 2021

Recently I need to report incorrect price history on my property listed for sale showing up on Zillow. The issue is that it shows a price cut, highlighted in red right below the price, the price cut was a reference from a prior unauthorized and withdrawn listing, which has a totally different listing ID. All other Websites (Realtor, Trullia, Redfin, Coldwell Banker, etc...) does not have this obvious indication. This creates very misleading market indication.

During the past 4 days, there have been multiple attempts to reach out to Zillow from my current real estate agent, previous real estate agent, and myself via phone calls and emails, and there has not been any response. On the contrary, a live customer rep from Realtor.com answered a call on Saturday and took action right away on the call. I was so impressed with Realtor.com customer services. As the largest real estate website, Zillow really needs to improve customer services.

Tried to work with Zillow to have the company purchase my home. The advisor/agent handling the sale was horrific! She did not respond to communication from me after telling me to reach out with any questions. Although Zillow made what seemed like a decent offer at first, the contract was full of vague fees and an extravagant holdback fee (fee kept for 30 days after sale) even though they were buying my home "as is." The advisor completely cut off communication with me after I let her know I was sending the contract to a real estate attorney for review. They don't want you working with an outside agent and they really don't want you consulting an attorney for advice. Unless you want to sign your house away, don't do it!!!

A couple of weeks ago I found out that I can sell my home to Zillow, and they have a program that will allow me to purchase a new home through them, and do this as an "all-in-one"! Amazing! They call this Zillow 360. Well, the program sounds amazing in theory. What they should've called it was "Zillow Wasteyourtime". After getting a preliminary idea of what they would offer me I signed up for more info on the program, and was contacted very quickly by someone, and urged to setup an evaluation on my home (this is how you find an actual amount that Zillow will pay you for your home). I made an appointment online for a date 11 days out. No problem. I sent an E-Mail with questions to the agent who had contacted me, and this is where the issues began.

The agent would answer some of my questions, but only after multiple E-Mails. She asked me if I would like "Zillow Home Loans" to reach out to me, a day AFTER saying that she would request it already. Then once Zillow Home Loans (ZHL) contacted me, it only got worse. I got mixed information from the loan officer and his assistant about his availability. After a few days of E-Mails and questions we scheduled a call. He called me an hour late, in the middle of dinner. We scheduled a second call, he called an hour EARLY this time and left a voicemail saying he would be busy at the appointment time and he would call 30-60 minutes after it. He never did. Despite this I still scheduled a third appointment with him, and this time he called almost TWO hours late.

It really shouldn't have surprised me at all that the Zillow evaluator simply no-call/no-showed on me the date of our appointment. I'm not sure why I thought I would have a different experience with that... but I learned my lesson. This is a terrible company with an "okay" website. A lot of the houses are out of date and they don't have enough filtering options. But it's fast and I like the lay out. After this, however, I will be using realtor.com for my house hunting and zillow can miss out on the money they would've pocketed by having me as a customer.

I attempted to use a different address but Zillow requires you to "claim" the property before photos can be downloaded. Also the photos of the properties posted are permanently recorded on the entire web. Not just on their site but the entire web. Even after the listing is removed a person can simply type in the address and photos from Zillow appear. This is a terrible security problem. Make sure not to expose, in any way, the layout of a home. I also wonder if Zillow is working with building departments to attempt to catch remodels done without permits. Not safe or private.

I submitted an offer to Zillow on one of their homes last Friday. The offer was initially declined but when my agent asked them to counter the offer, they called back and accepted it since the house was on the market for a while. The only change they had was the Earnest money had to be submitted to the Zillow attorney and not per the original offer. My real estate agent asked them to submit the information and I would forward the Earnest money. The next day, my agent called back and asked them to submit the ACH information so we could proceed with the sale. Again, Zillow confirmed with my agent verbally and via email that the offer was accepted and I would have the information the following Monday.

In between that time and Monday morning, they accepted another offer from a buyer and sold the house that was agreed upon via email and verbally (in Georgia, a verbal agreement is valid). When confronted, Zillow's response was we had poor communication internally and 'sorry'. This is unacceptable and bad practice. My agent has reported this to her legal department and is notifying the state. If at all possible, avoid buying a Zillow home. The same thing may happen to you also.

Helpful for identifying houses on the market, connecting to information about neighborhoods, and getting a general feel for the market, but the listings were almost always out of date, and often connecting to talk to someone/view a home only resulted in waves of automated calls. Definitely need to work directly with a realtor, Zillow is only a first step.

I have now listed two properties in the last years since Zillow started charging weekly. Both properties were mid-advertised using a mapping tool that improperly located my rental in my city's outskirts. It takes them a full week to correct the error because Zillow refuses to correct a known error. I'm losing potential clients by the hour. Please fix!

All my past sales have been wiped off from Zillow profile. They sent an automated email stating that this have been restored on Jan 21, 2021. However, only 3 of my past 9 sales have been restored. Now, I can't even add my other sales. It wipes off right away. I have sent 3 online requests, called and left them Voice Message, nothing worked so far. Zillow unjustly and dis-proportionately acted on my case. I feel like I was not treated fairly. Thank you!

I would like to take legal action against Zillow. Although they claim they use data and algorithms to provide “Zestimates” they cause harm by not investigating swings in their own programs. They literally overnight changed the value of my property in a 16 newer house community to half its value for no reason or explanation. They did not respond to a complaint directly through their system. A house in the neighborhood just sold which is almost identical to mine for well beyond what they paid originally 6 years ago. So there is no rhyme or reason. It’s frustrating to an owner and to neighbors. They should not be allowed to post just irregularities. They should have to provide reasons for changes especially those beyond a few percentage points. Shame on them.

I admit I was lured in and thought everything was legit. I started the process and talked with someone from Zillow over the next few weeks and scheduled an appraiser to visit my home. He was very nice and professional and completed it. After that I just waited and my emails went unanswered for a few days. The guy finally calls me back and brings someone else on the line to tell me about some sinkhole activity in the county I live in. Let’s be clear, not anywhere near me but rather in the county. He then proceeds to tell me that they weren’t going to proceed and tries to sell me on a local realtor that “word with them”.

There aren’t enough words to describe how pissed I was. It was all a huge waste of time an resources not to mention the lost money from calling off work to meet the appraiser. Don’t you think they would do research before providing the initial offer? I mean it makes sense to me but I guess they don’t have any sense. Then to make it worse you try To sell me one of your local realtors??? I shared my thoughts with Zillow only For them to respond back with excuses and then try to give me what if scenarios... Unfortunately I don’t deal with the what I’d rather reality. The reality is that Zillow failed to do what they offer. They failed to value me or my time.

    Zillow provides two services:

    1. Free home search tools to homebuyers

    2. Paid lead generation for real estate agents

The majority of the reviews on this site clearly are from the former group, reviewing the latter group. But they're just rating the excellent agents that are not affiliated with Zillow, outside of paying Zillow for those leads. The issue is, the paid lead generation (aka Zillow Premier Agent), in our experience, is a HORRIBLE service for real estate agents like ourselves, and Zillow itself treats its paying customers (at least us and many other agents we've spoken to) terribly. So the ratings on this site are deceivingly positive, when the truth is that Zillow itself is destroying the livelihood of agents like us by not being upfront about their lead generation service.

We invested over $36,000 into Zillow lead generation and got nothing for it. Only after being locked into a contract for 6 months, did we find out that LEADS ARE NOT EXCLUSIVE. Agents, read that again. The leads you PAY FOR (in SoCal they're often $800+ per lead) are NOT exclusive to you. You have 30 days to get the lead to proactively opt-in to an exclusivity agreement with you—if they don't respond or decline the invite, they go back into the pool for other agents.

As we all know, leads are often unresponsive in the beginning, so this system is designed for failure. This allows Zillow to make money on the same lead sent to multiple paying advertisers. I don't know about you, but if I had known that upfront I NEVER would have signed up. The contract doesn't mention this anywhere, neither does the sales representative. Neither does the website training documents, or the onboarding manuals/conversations you have with your account rep. You are left to figure this hindrance out for yourself, and once you do, they refuse to let you out of your contract for any reason.

On top of this, the majority of the "leads" you get are people who think you're either a Zillow employee, or the listing agent. They very often already have agents representing them, and are just calling for info on the property, not because they're interested in hiring a buyer's agent. So you're paying hundreds of dollars to talk to waste-of-time tire kickers with absolutely no intention of ever using you. In a response to my BBB complaint, Zillow claimed "We provide agent-ready buyer leads to local real estate agents and in that process, these leads remain exclusive to the agent we connect them with." This is objectively false on several accounts. The leads are not agent-ready, as explained above, and they're not exclusive!

In my opinion, Zillow is destroying the real estate industry through deceptive practices. It's ironic, since Zillow can attribute its success directly to the realtors from whom it originally "borrowed" the MLS listings that realtors have to pay for the privilege to post to. Now, Zillow is opening its own brokerage, literally stepping on the heads of the industry professionals they used to get to where they are in the process. This company, in my opinion, does NOT have agents' best interests at heart, and in fact deceives them with false promises and lack of transparency relating to the severe limitations voluntarily implemented by them in their own system. Let this be a stern warning to any other agent thinking of investing, you could easily end up like me—out almost $40k with nothing to show for it.

Liked a Zillow listing for property for sale. 5.4 acres in Folsom, LA. A Zillow Rep. connected me with an agent who knew nothing about property and said he would call me back. No call back. In the meantime, the Zillow Rep texts me to see if all went well. I reply no help at all. He asks to connect me with another agent and does and this agent says it’s a FSBO so he cannot help either. Get another text from Zillow Rep and I relay info given to me by agent and he then asks again if he can connect me with an agent????

I ask if I can speak with owner who listed it and he says there is a number on page and I call it to find out this person is in Memphis, TN and he has an “equitable interest” in the property but not owner and “the owner very hard to reach”. I ask about seeing property and plot lines and he has not gotten back with me. When you go to the approx. location as shown on Zillow no for sale sign so no way to know where it is or owner. Does Zillow verify property it lists??? What a waste of time!!!

My condo building has 72 units and 8 are the same largest model. Zillow has the value of these larger units far below market. The condo adjacent to mine they says is valued at $557 per sq ft while my unit they have at less than $400! My unit has over the adjacent one, HVAC, over 180 degree view over water and to Mt. Rainier. It is top floor, has no posts, has ungraded cabinets, clear story windows and 10' ceilings, and much more. The comps they use (condos in neighborhood and this building) do not have these upgrades. This situation would not a bad thing but my unit is for sale and their value could seriously affect my sale price.

Do not, purchase leads from Zillow. The sale people remind of a timeshare salesperson. They are very pushy and will say anything to get the sale. The Zillow reps do not provide you with a detailed information to make an informed decision. I spent $3000 with Zillow and received the worst service imaginable. I only signed up because I heard it was different. It’s not different spend your money elsewhere. Zillow is a pure waste of money and time if you’re a Realtor looking for a good lead source. I will never use Zillow again, ever. If I could make it happen I would not allow them to use my listing or my information. DO NOT PURCHASE LEADS FROM ZILLOW!

I saw a few new builds on the Zillow site. We called to see if available. We were told it was, until we disclosed we had an agent. At that point, the home is no longer for sale or the price has jumped from the price on the site. I understand the seller is trying to make a profit, however it’s unreasonable to say the home is no longer available after you just stated it was, because you do not want to split the commission. I have never seen such ever before!!???

Okay, 4.5% in fees no problem with selling your home with Zillow ~~~ BUT, beware of the added bogus fees for things like Landscaping, when I live in an HOA community that takes immaculate care of the property? Or, that my sump pump doesn't work, yet it is a 4-year-old home with a new sump pump that I tested with 2 buckets of water myself. They had this guy come out for two hours to inspect the home, yet he stated that the sump pump was bad without asking for water from my husband so he could legitimately test the pump. So, like anyone that rebuts these bogus fees, I replied to the Zillow Group about these bogus charges. They emailed me with their reply, asking if I could prove my sump pump works, so she could remove those additional fees.

She wanted a video of me putting water into the sump pump to see if it was in working order, yet your inspector never did what you are asking me to do?? I decided not to video this process as it was requested of me because after reading reviews on Youtube and here that this is common practice to tack on these bogus charges that basically increase their cut and decrease my bottom line. Some families may be desperate to sell, but don't allow Zillow to take away from your bottom line.

Updated on 03/02/2021: Zillow is a loosely built, poorly designed and horribly maintained website that has no criteria for posting properties, screening real estate agents, checking for the validity of information or correcting major errors. I have tried for over a year to find a waterfront, vacant lot property in northern Michigan, Northern Minnesota or Northern Wisconsin. All of these areas have literally thousands of waterfront properties for sale but you will not be able to find one, learn FACTS about the property, find a WILLING agent to represent you or buy one. Why? Reread the first sentence above. At least one third, and probably closer to one half, of the properties they emailed me are NOT WATERFRONT PROPERTIES.

I provided them with feedback on DOZENS of their errors and the errors were NEVER corrected and their search engines got worse and not better. They did not care. Eventually, more than half of their postings had so little information that I was FORCED to push the "contact an agent" icon to put up with numerous calls from, texts from and emails from agents who had NEVER seen the property, were unsure where it was, were not interested finding information about the property or providing assistance of any kind. I was not looking for a home or a huge tract of land for which the sale would make them thousands of dollars for doing little if anything so they were not interested. I reported these to Zillow and surprise, they did NOTHING.

Why would a Realtor let a website put their contact information on their website if they had no intention of trying to sell it? Many of them have other jobs or are stay at home couch potatoes who are not Realtors is my guess. Several of them had no knowledge of standard Real Estate practices. Since my search was not limited to one area, so I could not find and hire a LICENSED REALTOR who belongs to the National Association of Realtors (NAR) to do a MLS search and send me the MLS listings. When it became clear that I was going to have to drive up there with my camping trailer next summer and look for a property by myself, I decided to go to Mexico next winter and see what I can find along the Baja coast.

If you choose to have an account with Zillow.com, you will be supporting this scam of a business and become part of the problem. If we can kill Zillow and their website, a real business could enter the market and provide real services for a small monthly fee that would actually help you rather than increase your frustration level to a 10+. Out-of-control Capitalism is killing this country and by allowing companies like this to stay in business we are complicit.

Original Review: I've been looking for a small acreage on a waterfront in a far away state. I find that Zillow is not well organized and not motivated to assist buyers. Zillow allows properties to be listed with very little information and/or incorrect information forcing potential buyers to contact one of Zillow's listed agents who often know little or nothing about the properties or the sellers. These agents refuse to answer any questions that I ask in my initial contact email forcing me to either ignore them and look elsewhere or talk to them on the phone.

On the phone I get sketchy answers at best (as noted, they often have never seen the property or seen a real MLS listing). These agents want to provide a Zoom or FaceTime "showing," without ever answering your question(s). If you have unlimited time to entertain these agents going through three or four "showings" every weekend, good for you. I do not have unlimited time. I want the agents to answer my questions to see if the property fits my criteria BEFORE wasting my time with the agent's hard sell "showing." It is impossible to do this.

I have given Zillow more than a dozen complaints about the horrible listings they allow. Not one has been changed. My saved searches always contain the "waterfront" criteria. About a third of the properties Zillow sends to me are not on a waterfront. I get to waste my time going to the Zillow website trying to determine if the property has this deal breaker criteria. Apparently, Zillow is in business for real estate agents but I cannot see how either Zillow or the agents to whom they cater actually make sales. Their horrible customer service is off putting at best and almost always crazy making.
