I purchased the Whirlpool Ultimate Care II Quiet Wash August 2005. The machine worked for 6 months and then it wouldn't advance to the next cycle. Whirlpool Customer Service sent a contracted repairman who told me I needed a new timer switch. I never heard from him again.

After a number of calls to him, that he never returned, Whirlpool continued to give me numbers of repairmen to call. NO ONE was willing to drive as far out as I live b/c it wasn't worth their money or time. Now my warranty was about to expire but yet for 4 months I had been complaining and yet to have anyone fix the problem.

I explained they would need to extend my warranty for 4 months and they said that would be fine that all my calls had been recorded. Finally someone came out and fixed it but I was told they weren't aware that my warranty was extended, it was never recorded by the CSR I spoke to! 1 1/2 months went by and it breaks again.

The repair company made their first trip in September and continue to return every week to 3 weeks! I have seen this service man 7 times in 2 months.

Any washer that breaks twice in less than 2 years is a lemon! Sears won't back up their product and I havn't gotten anywhere w/ whirlpool yet....still trying.

Bought a calypso washer, it was a disaster. Bought it because of Consumer Reports' recommendation. Sears repairmen was at my house today told me the black smear i was getting on my clothes after the wash was due to a defective washer plate -- to fix it he had to replace the eclectronic board and the u-joint and the plate for a total bill of $480. I told him the electronic board was fixed about 3 months ago and also the u-joint.

Do you guys really test these products? This washer is a disaster a nightmare -- my clothes are coming out more dirty than when i put them in. You guys really blew this one and this was high end.

We purchased a Whirlpool Calypso washing machine about three years ago and have had nothing but problems with it ever since. Within the first year the circuit board had to be replaced and even though it was under warranty it still cost us about $125. We constantly have problems with the FL code and then of course the washer ceases to function. I usually have to retry the load 3-4 times before it actually completes a cycle. This is a big waste of time, energy, and water. The only way I can get the cycle to finish is to change the cycle to quick wash.

We are going shopping today to replace this product.

We puchased the Whirlpool Clypso washer and dryer ($1800.00)in 2001 and have had nothing but TROUBLE since the purchase. The first year, 5 service techs came to repair my washer due to black and brown residue/marks left on my supposedly washed clothes. Not one technician could explain or fix the problem. I did everything to using liquid detergent, powder detergent, using only Tide HE detergent, and rinsing the washer out weekly with vinegar and bleach. After numerous complaints and pictures of destroyed clothing, and still no solution to the on-going problem,

Sears returned the washer and replaced it with another Clypso. Within 6 months, the same exact problems occurred along with replacing the water pump twice within 1 1/2 years. Needless to say, we also purchased an extended warranty through GE on both the washer and dryer, and that too was a disaster. I have received nothing but problems with the GE warranty along with the continued problems with the Whirlpool Clypso washer and dryer. We have always been loyal Whirlpool customers.

August 2001, bought the new highly touted Calypso (overpriced) washer and dryer. Junk. Dirty streaks in clothes, water pumps replaced, problem codes, dryer wont dry..... now doesnt work at all. Both were relaced shortly after 1 year, and all the same problems exist. Have had too many service calls to count. What a mistake this was. Have had to throw away clothes, or reduce them to yard work clothes, been without the appliances several times waiting for service, and the shear agony of wondering what our clothes would look like when they are removed each time they are cleaned.

In January 2006 I bought the Whirlpool Fabric Freshener from a local Best Buy store. The product received rave reviews in both Consumer Reports Magazine and Good Housekeeping. There is an accessory which must be replaced every six months, the water filter cycle cup. I ordered this part in May 2006 and nearing four months later, Whirlpool still cannot fulfill my order and cannot tell me anything about when the backordered accessory will be in stock.

Basically the product ($299), which I did love, became USELESS after 6 months. Whirlpool has TERRIBLE, UNRESPONSIVE customer service which I wouldn't recommend to my worst enemy. Let Whirlpool go DOWN THE DRAIN!

I purchased a Calypso wash machine in May 2006. I noticed right away that the way the water rinses out of the machine is very odd! It has a shake down drainage system. It's like washing your clothes in a bucket and with a sieve and you would bounce the sieve up and down until most of the water is out of the clothes. The problem with this method is that all the dirt and lint floating on the top of the rinse water is now lying on top of the clothes on the top. The machine does save water and spins the clothes almost dry but the biggest problem is the dirt left behind.

I had my husband take pictures of a shirt which was a perfect example. The shirt was black and all the lint was stuck to it! It looked disgusting and now my family is wondering what else their clothes have on them!! I have called Whirlpool about this highly advertised product and all the woman that answered the phone would say was: We can set an appointment for a service call. I ask if they (Whirlpool) doesn't have a customer satisfaction guarantee and she said: No. I feel helpless in this situation. I am now trying to deal with the appliance store that sold me the washing machine but I really think Whirlpool should do something about this.

I bought the Whirlpool Calypso Washer on 10/28/2004. After the 1 year manufacturer warranty expired, it has started to break down repeatedly. It has had two water pumps replaced so far, and has broken down 6 time from this year (2006). The last two times I've only had the machine working for one week. I have the GE service contract, and they repair it, but will not honor the Lemon clause in the policy. This washer is non-functional and in my opinion NOT REPAIRABLE. It is a faulty design. I found a class action lawsuit against Whirlpool and Sears (I bought mine at Western Appliance), but for some reason it ony applies to washer purchased before 10/15/2005 so I missed it by 13 days!

I've been without a washer for weeks on end, and it requires expensive and time-consuming trips to laundromats. It causes great stress to constantly deal with this. The last failure caused LOTS of water to drain on the floor which subsequentlly leaked through and destroyed the ceiling of the downstairs bedroom.

Just purchased a Whirlpool Duet Washer and Dryer from Lowes in October 2005. The price paid was $800. I have been noticing a heavy musty odor coming from washer and could not find anything that would have caused it. Found it today. The inside of the rubber lip is crusted with black mold.

I noticed all my towels, once they get wet after washing, had this horrible smell. Even after using bleach for colors it is still there. This is a health hazard and feel like I want Whirpool to replace my washer with a different model if the problem cannot be fixed.

I had a l2-year old washer that I replaced the Whirlpool with and never ever had a problem such as this.

My 4 year old Calypso Washer started staining my garments (randomly) about 6 months ago. I was unsure for a while if my children or spouse had something on their clothing that might have caused the stains. After intentionally washing new white items, I found the washer was indeed the culprit. I had service done in the amount of $272.09 by the same repairman that had performed prior warranty work via Whirlpool and the next day new stains again (these resemble faint black oil marks). I have had untold garments ruined, lost hundreds of dollars of clothing and been aggravated by this products inadequacies.

Three weeks ago we bought a new stackable Whirlpool washer/dryer combo. From the first moment of installation, the dryer hasn't worked (no heat). Obviously, it is defective and should be replaced. However, Whirlpool's staunch policy is that they don't replace, only repair. So, we sit and wait and wait for their local contract service guy to (1) diagnose the problem, (2) order the part, (3) have the part shipped, and (4) get around to installing the part. Assuming that the diagnosis is correct and the repair is successful, this whole process will take a total of 5 weeks.

Why in the world should a consumer have to wait 5 weeks for a brand new, out of the box appliance to work the way it's supposed to?

I am sending this letter to file a complaint regarding mold in my Whirlpool Duet Front Load Washer that was purchased in February 2004. There has been a musty smell coming from the washing machine and, for months, I could not locate where it was coming from. The smell has been located and it is coming from under the rubber lip to the mouth of the drum. There is mold all over the inside of the rubber lip that is not noticeable unless the rim is pulled back entirely. Regardless of me keeping the washer door open and wiping down the inside of the washing machine after each load, the mold has still continued to grow. This is a major health issue not only to my husband and I but also to our young child.

This is a defect in the system and should not be happening on an appliance of this caliber. After doing research on this product, I have found that there have been many complaints regarding the same mold issue on the rubber lip. I would like to know why there has not been a recall on this part? I would also like to know what you are going to be doing to fix this situation because, again, mold is a major health hazard. Just to inform you, there was a class action lawsuit regarding a similar issue with the Maytag Neptune Washer.

When I talked to Whirlpool Canada, they said that there was nothing I could do except replace the rubber lip at my cost and they wouldn't gaurantee that it would not happen again. This is a potential health hazard and should not happen. The least they can do is recall the rubber lip on the Whirlpool Duet Washer.

My Whirlpool Calypso washer, less than 2 years old, has already had a pump replaced. It also has the smell of mold. I threw away several articles of clothing, not to mention rewashed many loads.

The repairman said the washer will continue making mold because of the metal and plastic components, so I needed to wash the washer at least once a month. The washer has been washed 6 times this week and still stinks.

I purchased a Whirpool Super capacity washing machine on 15July2005. Since May 15th 2006 the unit has had three service calls ranging from replacing the water pump, transmission and clutch assembly. Once these repairs were made, two days later the repair man had to come out once again and repair an electrical connection inside the unit. Then three days later the unit began to leak water.

Best Buy home service was contacted once again and could not provide service until 02Jun2006. The service technician came out and determined the appliance needed a new tub seal and two other parts. Since then two of the three parts have arrived but one part is still on backorder. This is unacceptable as I have four people in my household and I need to be able to wash laundry.

I purchased a Whirlpool washer (model # LSQ9659) in Dec. 2003. When the machine was one month out of warranty the spin cycle started making a loud slamming noise. I called the dealer who sold us the machine and they sent a repairman to our home. They had to replace the drive block. I phoned Whirlpool and at first was told that since the machine was out of warranty, I had no recourse. After a lengthly phone call, they agreed to pay the dealer directly for the repair. Now, one year later, the machine started to make the same loud slamming noise during the spin cycle. I again phoned the dealer and they sent a repairman. He diagnosed the same problem, a bad drive block, but because of the way the machine was spinning, two other parts, the basket drive and motor coupling needed to be replaced immediately. The outside basket is nearly worn through because of this.

I had a $207.00 repair bill for a two year old washer that retails for $500.00. Plus, I will need to replace the outside basket in the not-too-distant future. When I phoned Whirlpool I was asked if the machine had been repaired. When I told them it was, they told me it was out of warranty, and they do not pay for repairs to a machine that is working! I checked my warranty and could not find anything to that effect. The customer service rep that I spoke to would not let me speak to a supervisor because she said that is their policy and there is nobody there who will override it.

I have a washing machine that I will not put any more money into as soon I will have the cost of a new replacemtnt. There is obviously something very wrong with this washer and Whirlpool won't stand behind their product. If it were a different problem each time, I would be a little more understanding, but I certainly would like to get more than a year out of a washing machine at a time without having to pay for these costly repairs.

I purchased a Whirlpool Duet washing machine in August 2005. It worked for 3 weeks, and then stopped working due to a computer problem. I called Whirlpool to schedule service under the warranty. The technician came a week later and stated he needed to order parts. Two weeks have gone by, and the part finally came in today. Apparently, Whirlpool had the parts on back order.

The service company cannot send someone to install the parts for more than a week. My brand new washer will be out of service for more than a month. In the meantime, I will miss three days of work for service calls and I have to take my family's wash to a laundromat. I feel like I really got the runaround from Whirlpool customer service, which made several misrepresentations to me. There is probably nothing I can do legally, but I would like to caution people against buying a Whirlpool product. They think it is acceptable customer service to (1) sell a defective product, and then (2) take a whole month to fix it. Disappointing and frustrating.

I purchased a Whirlpool Calypso washer on 7/6/04. Early on I noticed it was causing pulls on towels and pulling the fibers from bathroom rugs. Thinking I was doing something wrong I contined trying different wash selections but the problem continued. In February, 2005 I called Whirlpool asking what setting to use for washing towels as the washer was ruining them. They had no real suggestion but said to try gentle. Who ever heard of washing towels on a gentle cycle? In April,2005 the unit would not draing the water out and it was leaking on the floor.

The washer was repaired with a new pump. I was told the original pump was defective. It is now June, 2004 and again my washer will not drain and it is leaking water on the floor. I am waiting for another new pump as well as a new U-joing. I have complainted to Whirlpool. Their response is it will be repaired. I let me know I did not like the washer and for the price paid I would like another model. That was not an alternative. Please do not purchase the Whirlpool Calypso, you will not be happy.

Each time the malfuctioned when I trip was upcoming and the laundry had to be done. Each time I have gone to a relatives home to do my laundery. Just this week I purchased an extended warranty for the washer since I am sure this is going to happen again. I am angry about having to spend more money on an extended warranty but the cost of one repair would be well over the price of the warranty and I do not feel that Whirlpoool would do anything to compensate me.

I purchased a Whirlpool Duet Washer/Dryer last October, $2,000, and was very pleased UNTIL this Spring when I started washing my delicate, light weight, clothing. The washer is beating my clothes to death. I have read the manual and use the delicate/casual and even hand wash cycle but they are coming out flimsy and wrinkled.

I have had to resort to having my light weight summer clothing dry cleanded. I do not trust the washer. My no iron clothing has to be steemed on the highest iron setting just to get them presentable. I cannot believe the damage this washer is causing.

Have had my new Calypso washer since 4/17/04. Three weeks ago, I'm washing clothes and I get this LD message on the control panel. Apparently this washer has a serious pump defect. Repairman has been out twice and hasn't fixed it. Parts are now on order. I haven't had to go to a laundromat in 30 years and I've been twice in the last three weeks. I am not happy. And I have no idea (nor does the authorized repair center) when I might expect to have the luxurey of a washer in my home again. I had my last washer (inexpensive Kenmore) for 16 years with never a service call. I gave the set to my son when I got the new Calypso set (very expensive). He is still washing clothes at home and has offered me the use of my old washer. I'm too embarrased to accept.

Lint all over the last load of clothes that was in the washer before it choked. Incredible inconvenience. Laundry is something you do at home while you are doing other things at home. If I have to go to a laundromat, then I am not accomplishing the other tasks I could be doing at home.
