We went for a Viking refrigerator instead of other brands because of the configuration of the appliance. Some of them didn't have the ice maker and water dispenser on the outside and that's what we were looking for, basically an upright side by side. Overall, the Viking refrigerator has been very good but we had a problem with the ice maker. We had a technician come out three times until they finally got it fixed, and it's working fine now. I like the room in the refrigerator and the freezer, as well as the overall appearance and the way they organized it.

We moved into a new house and my wife originally wanted a Sub-Zero but we couldn’t afford that so she decided that the Viking was the coolest looking, most durable, best line of refrigerators to look at. We got a new model and we’re really happy with it overall. We like its look and the solid feel. However, there were just a few cosmetic problems with it. It was a new model and they hadn’t worked out the bugs. When they installed the handles on it for all the different doors, screwing the screws too hard puts a dent in the stainless steel. But if they don’t do it hard enough, they loosen and start falling off. Also, there’s a bar handle and these connectors that they have to screw on don’t match the surface of the fridge very well. When they put it on, there’s an 8th or 16th of an inch gap between that little thing and the handles if they don’t put it on right. They finally figured out how to do it and got new parts.
We’ve had to have the repair guys come out four times for those handles and ended up replacing a whole front piece of the refrigerator. The freezer is the one that we got to pull right from the middle. If we pull from the side, it screws it up. We were pulling it right and it just came out. Their staff didn’t give us any hassle. In fact, the last time the handle pulled of, it was past the one year but they always call someone to come out and fix it which we really appreciate. They kept doing whatever it took to get it right. The last guy that fixed it put some super-duper glue where the screw goes in and since then, everything is good but we had to go through all that rigmarole. Viking needs to work out the handle for this model and make sure when people put it on, it doesn’t dent the surface stainless steel because that takes away the beauty of the whole thing.

When we bought the house, we requested for Viking appliances. We wanted to get the big 42-inch refrigerator but our realtor failed to tell us at the last minute that they ordered a 36-inch model instead. But even though it's not the model I liked, I love its quality. The aesthetics, as far as the door hinges, doesn’t get in my way. It was well-thought out and well-engineered. I also like the option that the temperature is different in certain compartments. However, I don't like the freezer part. As far as the stovetop, we had a choice in that. We got the eight-burner stove and it is phenomenal. It also has a conventional oven built in. All in all, I like Vikings appliances because I can buy a certain model and it has options that come along with it.

We built a new home last year and we liked the Viking products that we’ve had in our other home. The quality of the refrigeration from Viking is great. The only thing that I have not liked about it is they’re not very deep, especially the shelves, because I was used to a deeper refrigerator. But it’s great as far as the performance. I have the Viking All Refrigerator and I like that our freezer is separate. Their team members were great and we ended up buying all of our appliances from Morrison in Midland, Texas and Kay there was absolutely wonderful.

Viking DDSF036 SS Counter depth side x side. The door was opened on the fridge side and one of the glass shelves shattered into little pieces. I called Viking to replace the shelf, no problem. Now 2 months later after my credit card was charged months ago and jerking me around they are telling me that they can't make or get the shelf. Needless to say, I will NEVER buy another Viking Appliance again. Now I have to go out and buy a new fridge because this part isn't available anywhere and YES I have tried everywhere to find it.

My friends introduced me to Viking Refrigerators and we specifically bought this brand because we heard how good they were, but now I feel that their customer service is terrible. I've only had my refrigerator for not even a year and it broke four times now and it has taken at least two to three weeks to get it fixed every single time. Nobody at the Viking dealer would pick up the phone, so it was hard to get in touch with somebody. When I finally do, the only way somebody would call me back is if I was rude and talked to the manager at the place that I called. It was a horrible experience. I couldn't be more upset about it. I was told that the door would keep breaking at the part where they fixed it, and that I won't get a new refrigerator. I would trade this refrigerator right now if I could afford to.

Thank you for your post regarding your Viking products. We are truly sorry for the issues you are having. We will have a customer care representative contact you shortly to see how we can assist.

We bought a new house and all the appliances in it were from Viking. A lot of our friends with high-end homes also have either Viking, Sub-Zero or Wolf, and a lot of them are getting serviced. I also had a lot of problems with the first refrigerator, and when I would call up Viking, people picked up right away. Carter's Appliances, one of their authorized repair contractors, came out to service, and they were awesome and super-nice, and came out right away. They had to come out a bunch, but they were great.
However, we had to throw out about $800 worth of food because the problems happened three or four different times. They had to change the motherboard in the ref. Then the bottom of the refrigerator, where the coils are, kept freezing. The ref also had a problem where there was so much ice, so the coils got pushed into the plastic, then the ice started melting, and all the food had a smell to it. It was frustrating to deal with Viking about this, but they did replace the ref. They gave me a new one, and that's been perfect. I like the pizza box storage on the bottom.

We had a lot of problems with our old refrigerator. It was a nightmare so I didn't want to buy that same band. I wanted an American made refrigerator so I went through a whole lot of options. We owned other Viking appliances so we looked at them at a store. We bought the Viking ref from an appliance store in Minneapolis. They were very nice. They didn't scratch it during the delivery and the delivery guys were very friendly. There were no issues. The Viking ref is not a regular refrigerator. It's built in so it fits a very specific size and it matches the cupboard, so it can't be easily thrown away. You got to fix them. Another thing I really like about it is I installed it myself and bolted it into the wall. They gave me the directions and showed me where and how to bolt it into the wall. It has a lot of nice lighting.
My wife noticed that it doesn't get any mold in it because it has an ozone generator so she doesn't have to sit and clean it up. That is the absolute best feature of the Viking ref. The old ref was always moldy and yucky inside and we hated it. There was no egg holder in the door of the Viking ref. They provided a closed egg container where one had to take it up the shelf, open the cover and take an egg out. That was just a pain. So I made really nice trays that sit in my doors. Viking might want to consider doing that because the other company did that.
The ice maker tends to run too much ice that it overflows. When you open up the door it dumps the ice out into the cabinet. But that is little bit of a pain compared to my old refrigerator. It's interesting because it's the same exact brand of ice maker my old ref uses. They should improve their icemaker because they buy it from the ice maker company. I hope that Viking is better, but I don’t hold that hope. The most important thing will be to determine how long it lasts without giving us any trouble. They were a good company. We're very happy with the refrigeration from Viking.

I was selling the house and wanted to use some upgraded name. I've known Viking for years and it seemed to be a better deal. I replaced the GE appliances with Viking. But unfortunately, even in the short time that I had it, we had problems with the oven and refrigerator. And the more I talked to people about it, the reputation has really turned bad like Viking is pretty poorly made now. Knowing what I know now, I would never buy a Viking again unless I hear that they've really improved their quality. However, I like the refrigerator's Dutch doors where it's open on each side. Their team also had good follow up on the service I needed.

When we went to shop for appliances, the first time we saw the model from Viking Refrigeration I had already considered it. I did some research. It is supposed to be a quality name and it was a model that was on sale. It was affordable and would do a good job for us. The refrigeration is fine. The retractable filter is what I like best. But then I was a little surprised that we would have problems with the water dispenser and with the tube in the back of the ice maker so soon after we bought and installed it. Fortunately, we had to have it replaced under warranty. Overall, we've been very happy with Viking.

We were told that Viking was the second best among appliance companies. We couldn't afford the best, which would be Wolf. Wolf would've been probably double the cost. Viking had good reviews and their products look good. We went to Trail Appliances, the distributor, and the salesperson showed the Viking products to us. We liked the products and bought several appliances in the same make, including a gas stove, convection oven, and dishwasher.
Trail Appliances tested the refrigerator before they left. There was a problem with it, so they didn't install it. They replaced it immediately. It was really good that they tested it. Other dealers just put the appliance in, then you find out that it doesn't work. So far, the Viking refrigerator that we got is really good, and I'm happy with it. We like its looks. Everybody's complimented me on it. It works better than my previous refrigerator. I like the excellent ice maker. We'll need that in the summer. The good thing about it is that it keeps fruits and vegetables for a couple of weeks, especially fruits, compared to my previous fridge where I'd have to throw it out in three or four days.

I went with a Viking range, so I figured I might as well make it all the same brand so I got the refrigerator. Now we're regretting it to a certain degree. It was installed in November of last year and since then, we’ve had the repair guy out here three times already. So we’re not too pleased with that. One issue is that it doesn’t seem to make ice. We have to go out and purchase ice and put it in the dispenser. A guy checked and replaced the part, but a week after, the dispenser is not even filled halfway. We just had one or two levels of ice.
Last month, the tech also came out because the refrigerator was above 60 degrees, and we had to trash most of the food that was in there. The condenser was all frozen, so he took the whole thing apart from the freezer section ‘cause that’s where the condenser’s located and had to unfreeze everything. I asked him if this is a common issue with these refrigerators and he said the higher-end seem to have the same issue and they're constantly replacing these parts. So that was not a good experience.
The repair people are nice and do a great job. They could only fix the refrigerator so many times before the thing goes out again. The refrigerator looks nice, and our son says that it’s the biggest smallest refrigerator he has seen because it looks huge but when he opens it up, it's small on the inside. But it's a downer. We bought refrigerators in the past from other dealers and we’ve never had issues like these before. For a unit that we paid over $10,000, that’s not good.

Thank you for your feedback, we will look further into this situation.

We liked the Viking double oven that was available, so we got the Viking refrigerator to match the oven. I like the lights inside the ref. They're pretty cool. However, I did not have a very good experience with the Viking dealers. I had a lot of issues with Allstate Appliances, but the person I originally worked with there is no longer with them. But I've had good experiences whenever I've called in to Viking for problems. We had our handle going off, but it's been fixed since then. The guy that came out to repair the handle was nice and good, and I really liked him.

Thank you for feedback, Viking is so glad to hear you are happy with your new product.

I have a couple of issues with our Viking refrigerator. It seems to freeze at the top and the condensate at the bottom overflows behind the fridge. They fixed it and were willing to fix the floor but it would be inconvenient. The support team never changed the ref and if there's something wrong with it or a piece of the equipment, they send me a part within a week with no questions asked. I had good service but didn't have a good experience with the refrigerator. The product needs a bit more work. However, I like the class and look. It's a nice classic-looking product and has the same feel as a fixed coating of stainless steel but it looks industrial quality.

Our last refrigerator broke so we went to P.C. Richard. We were looking for one that would fit the space that we have. It's somewhat unique because it's wide and shallow. Aside from the dimension of a Viking refrigerator, we also liked the look and had heard good things about the brand. Initially, I was very happy with it but I'm disappointed that the ice maker and the whole control board broke. I had a refrigerator repairman here to look at it and that's going to be $1,600 to repair. I could buy a whole new refrigerator for that. So now I don't have the ice maker and the water in my refrigerator working and it will have to stay that way until the whole thing dies because I don't want to spend that much just to repair that.

Please be assured that our top priority is to ensure you receive the best service and product possible. Our goal is to deliver the highest quality product that exceeds your expectations. As a result of these efforts we are standing behind our products with an industry-leading warranty and would be more than happy to fully support any warranty repairs in accordance with the terms of warranty.

We owned a Viking before in a prior home. We felt it was certainly well-built, had quality, and was reliable so we wanted to do that again. I like the ProChill Temperature Management that they put in their refrigerators. It seems to maintain the cooling and temperature so appropriately that the food stays good for a long time. So we’re happy with the way it works. Also, their team went efficiently and the installation was adequate. However, we didn’t like the fact that we couldn’t get the refrigerator fully clad in stainless steel. We had to go out and get panels. And since they’ve been installed, those panels vibrate and make noise and we don’t know how to fix that. But we’d still recommend it, they're above average.

We have Viking range, oven, refrigerator and microwave but after spending money with a Viking refrigerator, we're not very happy. The icemaker doesn't work really well and the drawer that the ice goes into is always sticking. We can't always push it in its place perfectly. The seal around the freezer door has been giving us problems ever since it was delivered here. Even after resetting the temperature in the refrigerator section, we've had issues of things freezing in there, and it's not been functioning.
We've been calling the dealer we bought the refrigerator from, and they've been coming out. But for buying quality stuff like this, it's not what we expected. My Bentley doesn't give me this type of trouble. It's worth a lot more money but it's on the same par. It's that type of quality we're expecting. Nevertheless, our experience with the dealer was great. They've been great. I think they're Viking-approved repair people trained by Viking. They came on a timely fashion but I expected the problems to be fixed.

We did a kitchen update through a local company here in Columbia called DKB Kitchen Design. As part of our package, we had originally purchased a GE refrigerator. We had real serious problems and couldn't get any satisfaction with the GE refrigerator. We went back to DKB and explained the problems we were having and documented it for them. They volunteered to take our problematic GE refrigerator back and trade for a Viking Refrigerator.
The Viking refrigerator has been doing the job but if I had one issue to complain about, it’s the icemaker. I tell our guests not to put a glass under the icemaker because the ice comes out so hard that I’m afraid it’ll shatter the glass. I contacted Viking about that at first and I got some cryptic response about how we can have a serviceman come out and look at it. And I told them I don’t think a serviceman can change the design of the icemaker. But other than that, we've had it for a year now and we've never had service issues unlike with the last GE refrigerator. It also matches all the other Viking appliances that we have. It does what it’s supposed to do.

I bought a Viking refrigerator due to the warranty on it. It works fine and I like its aesthetic features. However, I don't like the filters since they need to be replaced more often than I would like. Also, I made superficial dents in the bottom freezer drawer. It’s not noticeable, but I have to replace that single front panel so that I could get rid of it. The panel costs $1,650, which is more than half the cost of the entire refrigerator. Viking uses an outside manufacturer for that piece, and they’re ripping anybody who needs to replace that because they figured they need it. It's absolutely absurd and highly annoying that it’d cost that much money to fix the little dent.

I like my Viking refrigerator, and its style. It fits my needs with all the drawers it has. I like that the freezer doesn’t dry things out and there’s never a freezer burn. When I put something in it, it does not taste like the refrigerator. Also, the ice never tastes funny. I don’t care how old the ice is. It’s perfect. Those are the important things. However, the drawers were cracked. I had a bottle of soda explode in it, and it flows on the top shelf. It’s leaking, and there are only two of us living in the house so it’s not from overuse or abuse. The repairmen have been coming out fixing everything, and the drawers are now fixed and the leak is gone. When we have a problem, we call the dealer and they send someone out, and now they escalated it so someone from Viking comes out. They’re responsive.

We had a custom kitchen built in Texas that I’ve had Viking products. Of the high-end brands, they were the least expensive and they were very reliable. But the quality of their refrigerator is not great at all. I would’ve been better off going to Home Depot. We’re on our third fridge from Viking. The first fridge we bought, we were told that it was a floor model, brand new, so we bought that one. It was shipped to us and we installed it. Three months later it broke. I called the Viking service tech. There is only one service tech in the Colorado area, so it took a while for him to get to me. He opened up the back of the fridge and said that it is a used fridge and it’s not under warranty. He looked up the serial number and he found out that that fridge was actually already warrantied by Viking and it was supposed to be destroyed.
Then Viking West Coast and Viking East Coast, the two corporate offices got into a pissing match on who was responsible for it. So we were caught in the middle of food that wasn’t cold… while they tried to figure out who was gonna warranty it because Viking West Coast said it’s already been warrantied and it's not their problem because we bought it from an East Coast dealer. It eventually got up to one of the VPs at Viking corporate and they said Viking East Coast will take care of it.
They sent me a replacement refrigerator that the shipper dropped off the back of the truck. And then we rejected that fridge. Then they told us, “I’m sorry but that was the last fridge in North America.” The next fridge was on a set of containers coming over from China. And that’s when I found out that Frigidaire made their fridge. I told them I’m not paying an extra thousand dollars for a Frigidaire then. We eventually got one that was supposed to be going to one of their preferred dealers to market. It was a new fridge - a new model, because they weren’t making the old model anymore. And it’s been working ever since.

Viking is supposed to be the highest quality of appliances in the market, but I am very unsatisfied with all these issues with our brand new appliances. I had heard of Viking in the restaurant business and people seemed to be impressed. The quality of the product is excellent. The space is perfect. For the size that it is, it holds a lot of food and we're really happy. When we build the new house, I'll probably buy two Viking refrigerators.
The only problem we had, and this seems to be not specific to Viking, were the people. We like trying the new things on the market but things that last, and so, we were very pleased with this purchase. But the salespeople weren't prepared. There's more of a market here in San Diego but their salespeople just weren't ready to sell it. Either they were too busy or weren’t educated. We bought this unit in 2005 for a new kitchen with all new appliances. My problems with this unit are numerous and varied. At first we noticed that the interior plastic parts, such as drawers broke easily. These are very expensive and there is a real gap between the cost and the apparent value of the parts. Next, mechanical and electrical parts began to break down. We needed a small fan, available online for $8 and that took all of 10 minutes to replace, that cost several hundred dollars. We have had sensors go bad for similar costs to repair, and now the freezer won't get cold enough to allow the ice maker to produce ice. I would never buy from Viking again. Their products are flimsy and delicate despite the high price. I am willing to pay more for quality, but I didn't get that quality at Viking.

A Viking fridge was part of our home purchase. We were able to pick out the refrigerator that we prefer within some limitations. We could pick the fridge with or without the ice dispenser on the door but we couldn't really change the size because we've already locked in the design of the cabinet. Still, we had the option of picking one from three different vendors. I like the size and the overall layout of the one we ended up with.
The quality of refrigeration is okay, however, there's a lot of temperature differential within the interior of the refrigerator - the top shelf might be 34 degrees and the bottom shelf might be 41 degrees. The reason I know the temperature now is because the temperature that it was set to wasn't anywhere close to what it actually was. Hence I bought a little wireless thermometer that I could put in the refrigerator to tell me in real time what the temperature was. Just from putting that in different places in the refrigerator, I found that there's more difference in temperature than I would've expected. I haven't worried as much about the freezer although we had a number of service issues. With these service issues, it took three or four service calls to finally get the problem sorted out.

He told me to try it out and that if I didn’t like it, they would take it back. The refrigerator was making a noise and that was bothering me. We had a GE for 16 years and it was fantastic so when I started hearing the noise, I figured I made a mistake. We have called somebody to come and check it out, but they said everything was okay. I don't know if they adjusted something but after that, it’s been working pretty good. I like the bottom drawers of the refrigerator. It’s like a long drawer and has a nice size since I can put a lot of stuff in there.
On the other hand, the toe grille was not put in properly. One side is lower on the floor and the other one is higher. Even though we try to screw it in, it doesn't do anything and it just keeps coming down. I was thinking of calling the other day about that because it was bothering me. However, the quality is not the best. Our Sub-Zeros that we replaced were older models and they were built better back then than they are today for both. The temperature is not consistent and some of the settings aren't correct. The freezer will go anywhere from 10 degrees above zero to 10 degrees below zero even set on a fairly high setting. We were remodeling our house and I needed a bigger refrigerator. Viking was one of the better ones on the market so we got their 48-inch refrigerator. We also ended up getting all Viking appliances (a range, a hood, and a stove) because I wanted to stay with the same brand for resale purposes.
However, we’ve only bought the refrigerator in November and in February, the mechanism that defrosts the coils in the freezer went out, and trying to get that fixed was not pleasant. I called Viking on a couple occasions and they said they had three contractors for us but two of them didn’t service refrigerators down in South Florida. The third company sent a guy out and he said he’ll defrost it. I told him we’ve been defrosting it every other day for a month while waiting for him to come out. He said “Well, I got to try this anyway and if it doesn’t work then call us back.” He defrosted it and two days later, it was icing over again. So I called the company back and they said I needed to replace the mechanism that defrosts it. They have it back ordered and I had to wait another month for them to get the part. I spent two months with a $10,000 refrigerator and I had to take a heat gun every other day and defrost the coils in the freezer so I wouldn't lose everything in it.
After the mechanism went out, my husband read on forums that our refrigerator’s issue is a common Viking problem. And the tech they sent out didn’t speak English, which is fine because I speak Spanish. I kept asking, “Well, what is actually the problem?” And he said, “Well, it just needs to be defrosted.” He wanted me to sign all these forms and I said, “Look, I am not paying for this because this should be under my extended warranty that I paid for.” He said I had to sign it and that’s the only time I got him to tell me what he thought was wrong with our fridge. When I had to call back, I told them not to send the same guy but they did. He had no social skills. He didn’t even introduce himself when he showed up and left without saying anything. I had to track him outside the driveway and ask if it was already fixed. He said, “Well, just watch it. If it frosts over again then you’re gonna have to call another service ticket on it.”
Though the Viking dealers were nice and helpful, the service could be way better. The number that I was provided for servicing in my purchase packet was redirecting me to the store so I had to call them and try to find servicing for it. I sat on hold trying to get someone for almost an hour to answer the phone. If I’m gonna be on hold for a long time, they should send my call to a voicemail and call me back. Other than the mechanism going out in less than a year, everything else has worked beautifully. The refrigerator keeps my fruits and vegetables fresher way longer than the last refrigerator we had. I liked that I always have space in it, and I also love the other appliances that we bought. I wouldn’t recommend the refrigerator for the price, but the other appliances, I would.

All of our appliances are Viking, which is a high-end brand. But I guess Viking is new with refrigeration. The quality of the refrigerator we got from them has been horrible. It does not hold the temperature. It freezes everything that it's not supposed to freeze in the actual refrigerator side of it and it's very loud when it makes ice. It doesn't have any special feature other than a normal refrigerator. It doesn't even have the water feature. So we're having some very big issues with it and would never buy a Viking again. But when we had a couple of other issues with the refrigerator not having some proper framing, the team members at the Viking dealer have been very good to work with and have shown up on time.

We like the refrigerator that we got from them. Its size and all its shelves are my favorite parts of the refrigerator. It has the filter and it can make ice cubes. The only thing not in our refrigerator is the water dispenser, you can't get a glass of water from it. But the stove is what we fell in love with first. When we had problems with it, the guy that Ferguson sent was great.

Our Viking refrigerator's bottom drawer doesn't work so well. We had our care person come out and he replaced the wheels, but he had to order them so it took a number of weeks. Two of the shelves broke inside the refrigerator and one of them was on back order. That took over a month to get replaced. This is a fairly new refrigerator and it's having a lot of problems. Every time I open the bottom drawer, the wire basket comes out from where you put the hook on. The product has not lived up to the name, and I chose Viking because I thought the name was associated with value.

Although, Viking was giving us the regular refrigerator without the ice dispensing part in front so I requested for a switch. I like the refrigerator's ice part and that the vegetables and fruit trays allow me to check the moisture control - this feature allows the food to stay fresh longer. We had to change the filter once and my husband had spoken to somebody at Viking to find out what filter was required. We ordered the filters through Viking and had been replacing it since then.

We've had, at least, four service calls and we're due for another one 'cause more ice is accumulating at the bottom part of the freezer. Having people service a call has been a huge inconvenience 'cause I have to be there. The window of opportunity is like from 12:00 to 4:00. I don’t like Viking appliances. I’ve had issues with the ice maker ever since I bought my refrigerator. They came out one time and replaced it because they said there was a fly in it. After they fixed it, it worked for about six months. And then I have to always pull the bin out, empty it out, clean it out and put it back in so it could work again. Now it doesn’t work at all. I’ve called Appliance Masters and they’ve been out many times. The repairman comes and he says nothing is wrong with it but I still have an issue. At this point, I have no warranty on it but I need someone to come out and actually fix it. I ordered the part to change it myself. The dealers were nice. But as far as when I emailed them, I got absolutely no response.
I’ve had my dishwasher for seven years and when I turn it on, it runs over three hours and I have to open the door and see if it’s clean or dry. I never know how long it’s supposed to take. I never knew from the beginning because it never ran a full cycle. When I open it, I see all this water and soap in the bottom. I wash my dishes by hand. The water is sitting there. I have to spoon it out or cup it out because it starts to smell after a while. It’s a big issue for me because I’ve never been able to have a full cycle of clean dishes.
When I called this last time to get somebody to help me with my appliances, the repairman told me he gets a negative call every single day and he’s always apologizing to the customers when they call. Consumers like me don’t know who to contact to say their complaint to. The sales guy was telling me that he gets this kind of call every single day. Generally, I’m easygoing and I don’t really like complaining about anything. But when it comes to a point when somebody’s so top-notch, I get very disappointed because of the name.
Viking has a name like Mercedes-Benz. I was thinking I was getting the best and I was very wrong because if Viking was so great, their appliances would work properly. And even if I get a lemon, I understand that at least it could be fixed when someone comes out to check it. I was disappointed. I would not recommend Viking to anybody. I would not recommend the places I called for service for Viking. They just can’t fix it. I used to have a GE and it’s in my garage now. It works a lot better than Viking and I’ve had that a lot longer.

Also, during the purchasing process, I had a horrible experience as it took forever to get the fridge purchased. It was not a streamlined process. And when we were having this horrendous noise, we ended up having to go back to the store two or three times before they would finally send somebody out. Viking Refrigeration is supposedly one of the best brands in the market and my wife likes them better than the others. I’m a hundred percent satisfied with the quality. We had issues that I didn’t expect because of the price of my refrigerator but I’m not gonna say it’s a bad or terrible refrigerator and they replaced it so I cannot complain at this point, although this is mostly what I feel should not happen.
Our Viking refrigerator is huge and the freezer is on the left side while the refrigerator is on the right. My wife, three adult daughters, and I are very careful at home and don’t beat up our kitchen appliances. But the drawers are breaking apart and the shelves and door shelves were disintegrating which is really weird and that I would not expect from a refrigerator with a price tag that Viking has. I assume they crack with the cold. I was very surprised and I really expected a little bit more. So I called the warranty and they sent me new ones.
I had an issue with a microwave that Viking ended up fixing, though I wasn’t happy at all with the first company that came. Then I had another issue with a cooktop and the company that came to do the repair was very good. When I buy appliances with a price tag of Viking, I expect their life to be longer. The problems we had are not terrible and would not keep me from buying Viking again in the future, but I was disappointed that I had much more issues with the microwave and cooktop, that I did not expect with luxurious appliances such as Viking.

We had purchased a Viking range and dishwasher about four years ago. We had a commercial refrigerator but didn’t know that Viking had refrigeration at that time. We got rid of the commercial one and I looked up Viking and found this refrigerator. I love the lighting in the refrigerator. I've also never had a freezer on the bottom. I don’t get into the freezer nearly as much as the refrigerator so I love that feature because I don't have to bend down to get into a crisper. The space in it is amazing. I've had the side-by-side where the freezer is on one side and the refrigerator is on the other and they're just wasted space. This French door is very easy to clean, too. I take a soft-butt towel and use a microfiber towel to dry it and I've got the surface cleaned in two minutes.
We had been with Sears for years for our appliances. We've been in our house for 24 years so this is our second round of appliances now. We had 10 more brands and I wanted something on a higher end. It took me six months to pick something up because I read reviews and Viking had great ones. We decided to switch to Viking for our kitchen appliances just from appearance and reviews. The downside was there wasn’t a store near us where we could go in and put our hands on the product so we ordered through a store that was an hour drive from us. But, their customer service is great.
The first dealer that we contacted was closer to us but they weren't as willing to help us over the phone as far as measurements because we were going from an electric to a gas range. We ended up in the Silt. Their staff did all the measurements and how the gas line had to be in. He went above and beyond over the phone and worked with my husband on it. We ordered not one, or two but three times, went back and forth with Viking and three different appliance repair guys. Final analysis is that Viking no longer makes same seal and the "replacement" seal DOESN'T FIT! IT DOESN'T WORK! We have pulled our hair out trying to find someone whose fridge maybe blew up or fell out of the back of a truck just to nab the $100 seal from original fridge and have it snapped in 10 minutes. We complained to the company we purchased it from and he said it was the seal. The continuing leakage from the refrigerator ruined our hardwood floors. We finally had a rep come out and look at the refrigerator and believe it or not we got a new one after this continuing over a year. The ice machine in the freezer went bad so he ordered us a new one while he was there. The ice machine that was self standing the board went out after 4 years and it cost almost as much to fix so we threw it out. Now our freezer only freezes halfway. We spent a fortune on our Viking refrigerator in 2008 and have not stopped repairing it since the day it was installed. You name it, it has broken. Sometimes the same part two and three times. Yesterday the entire fridge/freezer stopped cooling - again - and I am sick at the thought of either repairing it again or having to buy a new one. The items that we've repaired or replaced: condenser (twice), fan assembly, compressor (twice), evaporator, door hinges and numerous electrical components. The ice maker went out @ 2 years ago and rather than replace it for @ $600, we've done without ice. In addition, the functional components inside the freezer and refrigerator are both poorly made and ridiculously expensive to fix.
Currently 2 of the 3 sliders to support the crisper drawers are broken and they only have replacements for the left side! Is that nuts or what? We've removed the drawers entirely. No choice, you couldn't put the drawers in anyway. And now no produce can be placed in this area because it freezes solid. The wheels on the freezer tray broke off within 3 years of purchase and I had to rig something up to make it usable. My design is better than the original one - pretty pathetic. Our warranty on parts has been great except for two things: They never have the warranty parts in stock. Can't give you ANY idea when they might be available and you have to pay labor fees for the repairs.
I'm okay with repair fees. At this point, I'm numb about it but I'm incensed that they can't even find or deliver parts they WARRANTY for a $7000 appliance. What's the point of a warranty at all under these circumstances? It's not like you can go 3-4 months without a refrigerator guessing when the parts might arrive. All in all, Viking repair representatives have been polite but display a lack of knowledge about the products. The warranty department and the repair department often tell you two different things and we spend a lot of time going back and forth between the departments. I've written and called Viking senior management for years about this refrigerator and have never, not once, gotten a single response from anyone. To say it's been discouraging is an understatement. I'll never buy Viking again.

Viking should be ashamed of themselves for ripping people off like this. Now my range will only work at 350f and the control that I need is $1,400.00 for just the part and viking has done away with their service company, now they sub it out to a local repair shop that knows nothing about this line. The ice maker which freezes the water every three months and stops the ice maker from working and has to be thawed is a joke which the repair guy told me it is a known problem but still will not do anything about it.
My floors were also ruined from that problem. The ice will not come out right and gets clogged or you get one cube or 100, no in between but then the rest will come out 10 minutes later on the floor. Spring on door has broke. Now the latest is no water on the door and the high temp alarm keeps going off. Several weeks dealing with this problem, we noticed the HA symbol flashing--the alarm inside fridge. The temperature inside the fridge was constantly fluctuating. Were we leaving the door open? We read and followed all troubleshooting steps.
After a can of soda water exploded inside, we decided to give the dealer a call where we purchased the unit. A maintenance man was sent (a company that works for Viking products) diagnosed the problem and ordered a part. A month later, not hearing back, we called and was told Viking does not supply that part for purchase?? What??
The maintenance company told us to call Viking direct, so my husband did and the woman was extremely rude. She told him to have our dealer contact her, so we did. Few days later the dealer (a very reputable kitchen design center) contacted us. She made a marathon of phone calls to Viking and was able to convince Viking to give us a new fridge. Well we received our new fridge 2 weeks ago and guess what? Yes the same problem! Temp goes up and down and now this fridge will not even allow us to set a certain temperature inside the unit.
Also, looking more closely at this unit it almost looks used. Could it be refurbished? The alarm is constantly being displayed with the HA 52 degrees symbol. Here we go again! We call it the HAHA sucker alarm--you guys bought me. Humor is always good but it's really painful considering we paid $3,500 for a beautiful looking but dysfunctional unit.
Also looking closely at this unit it almost looks used. Some little wear inside. Could it be refurbished? Hope not! Viking has not been supportive at all and neither has Ferguson from where I purchased it. If a company sells a product, you would think you would have backup, especially since the appliances are so expensive. I have had problems with my Viking stove - won't lock. Problems with my under counter ice maker, problems with my wine cooler and problems with my stove. I keep living with them because they were so expensive and they look good - they just don't work well! I've learned my lesson. I will never deal with Viking or Ferguson again.

Professional series Viking refrigerator, range and microwave. What can I say. The fridge has leaked many times and has now ruined my hardwood floor near the fridge. The door racks started cracking within months of purchase and the warranty does not cover those parts. The light in the water/ice dispenser does not work as well. I am told there is a fix for the ice dispenser which is the source of the leaks for over $250 including the service call. I am told (the light bulb is good) that to fix the light switch is another $300 dollars as the whole assembly needs to be replaced.
Let's say this, I bought top of the line appliances and I'm sure any appliance at Walmart would have better quality. I am going to go out of my way to inform everybody I can to never buy a Viking appliance. Unfortunately I also have a Viking professional gas range and a professional microwave. The microwave display no longer works either and I not covered by warranty. These appliances cost well over $18,000 and I am so disappointed. Please protect yourself from significant disappointment and do not buy anything from Viking.

I bought brand new Viking "Professional" line 48" refrigerator and 48" Oven about 4 years ago. Since this was for a major renovation to our personal home, we decided on what was easily the most expensive appliances we've ever purchased. I liked that they are American Made, and figured that certainly Viking would stand behind their highest end products, and I wouldn't have to wait weeks for replacement parts from overseas (if I ever needed them). What a BAD DECISON! Since installing the Oven, we've had to pay for replacement of the main circuit board in the oven two times.
Now for the Refrigerator: DDSB483DS6. This is the most expensive yet, WORST appliance I have ever purchased. (I'm a builder, remodeler, and property manager- so believe me, I've purchased many refrigerators in my career). The Ice Maker has been replaced twice. The chute where the ice drops from the ice maker to the door does not accept the shape of the ice, so it constantly gets stuck- and definitely DO NOT USE the crushed ice feature as it will freeze and clog this chute! The next hour or so the ice in the chute then melts and drips into the small holding tray which does not drain into the pan below the fridge, so it overflows and runs down the front of the fridge and onto the floor. Further, the pan below the fridge has continuously filled up to overflowing since day 1. To address this we had to create a calendar reminder to empty the pan every 3 days. If not, the water overflows onto the floor!
Needless to say, my wood floor in front of the fridge is completely ruined. Over multiple service calls by the Viking Factory recommended repair company(s) to address this, we've purchased a recommended $500 heater element designed to evaporate the water from the pan, and multiple other expensive suggested repairs- all to no effect! It got to the point that I had a drain tube installed from the pan that leads the water outside the house!
The latest unpleasant experience began in September 2015. The new Viking repair company (exclusive appliance Svce 770-888-9555- they are awesome!) representative came out, saw the issues and determined that there has been a defective gasket within the door. He explained that this is what has been causing the problems all along. We disconnected the water line to the fridge in order to stop the leaking (therefore, no filtered water or ice since September) while we waited for Viking to provide us with the replacement gasket. Furthermore, this representative made a few calls to Viking on our behalf to explain the cause and ultimate damage caused by this defective part. He took and submitted multiple pictures and written explanation of the damaged floor, and filed a claim on our behalf to have Viking pay to repair the damages.
While we waited for the claim to process, the Gasket was finally delivered about 6 weeks later, only to discover that the replacement part was DEFECTIVE as well!! We were then told that the entire manufacturing run of these gaskets are defective, so the new expected delivery date for the new gasket will be 8 weeks later. Ironically, the same day we received this information, the Viking Claims Department contacted me to tell me that Viking had determined that the damage to my floor was not caused by the defective appliance!
LONG STORY SHORT, Viking Appliances are the WORST I have ever owned, and even worse, Viking could not care less, and is apparently unwilling to stand behind their products at all. This is the first review I have ever written on a public forum, but if it helps even one person from suffering through this very expensive, horrible experience, then it was well worth my time.

Refrigerator Model VCFF136DSS2. Almost four years old and of course the warranty runs out 6 months ago. Started two years ago with the water filter holder. The cover for the filter has a clip that breaks easily. Viking store sold me a replacement and it broke within six months. I drilled a hole in the front and put a screw into the frame and it works great. Our biggest problem now is the fridge quit working. Only the lights work. Viking said to replace the front computer board. $922 and two weeks later that did not work. Now Viking does not know how to fix it? Local repairman asked me to call Customer Relations. They said a report had to come from repair man to the Regional Service Manager. Going on third week with no fridge. Family is not happy. Viking said they will call me once they decide what to do. Parts are Whirlpool.

48" Side-by-Side Refrigerator AND VICU165 - 36" wide cooktop - To say I've been disappointed in Viking products is an understatement. When we began building our house we wanted a great kitchen. We chose Viking professional products. We purchased them about a year or so before we actually installed and moved into our home. Within the first 3 months our water dispenser in the door of the fridge/freezer froze over and completely quit working. We had a repairman come out... it worked for about 3 more months and we have not had water in the door since because we couldn't get anyone out to repair. Within 8 months the drawers in my fridge began cracking... nope, sorry, you have to pay astronomical prices to have those replaced. Within the first 2 years one of the shelves in the door came crashing down when we opened the door. Again, nope, sorry, that's your problem attitude from customer service.
Now, our cooktop is horrible. We have the 36" all induction with 6 burners. We NEVER had all 6 working at one time. We call a Viking, get a repairman out... it works for about 2 weeks. Then we are back to 5. Slowly but surely others started going out. We call, we email, we call some more and finally get someone out there. He "needs parts." He's going to order then come back. No, we never hear from him again. We start calling, emailing, calling again. They send another guy out... he needs some parts. Meanwhile, all of this is taking literally years between the calling and emailing. The burners never get fixed. The last time they sent out a repairman, he again did not return. We called again and were greeted with a sorry, your warranty has expired, it will cost you an insane amount to repair. Right now, we are down to 1 burner that sometimes works and sometimes doesn't.
I will NEVER purchase Viking again nor will I EVER recommend their products. Pitiful customer service.

I Bought a new Viking gas cooktop, fridge and microwave in 2012.The cooktop arrived and the top was warped and it wouldn't seat on the stone counter. First Viking tried to blame the dealer for improper storage but after 2 months I got a new one. The Pro Fridge came with the door opening the wrong way (I would have to stand in the living room to access the inside). Six months later I received a new fridge because they couldn't reverse the door. Within 6 months in 2015 three of the door shelves broke and fell down. All of them broke on the same end and I received new ones under warranty. In 2016 the fridge is leaking bad and we discovered a block of ice around the condenser. Had to dethaw it and reprogram the settings for $ 250.00. I’ve got a KitchenAid fridge that has been trouble free and it cost 1/10 the price. These appliances are supposed to be the Rolls Royce of kitchen products! I will never purchase another Viking product again.

My 3-yr-old Viking refrigerator RDDFF236SS stopped cooling on Oct. 20, 2015. We lost everything in the fridge and freezer. I have discovered online that countless people have had this same thing happen with this same model. Our local repair person told me it's the compressor and other sealed parts, so I had to go directly to Viking. The Viking authorized repair shop can't come out until Oct. 28!
Like others in reviews I've read with the same problem, we are "camping" in our own home with camp coolers and daily runs for ice. If the repair person can't fix it on the visit tomorrow, I'm contacting Viking again to request they buy back this lemon, which I had to do with our Viking stove a year ago, after the oven failed three times, two of those on successive Thanksgiving Eves -- not the holiday tradition I want. I finally insisted, on the third failure, that they buy the stove back at full price, which they grudgingly did after many, many phone calls. Now I have a Wolf range and couldn't be happier. I will never recommend Viking to anyone -- in fact, I actively tell people not to buy Viking. (I do want to say that the people at the authorized repair shop couldn't have been nicer about the Viking stove each time they had to come out.)

Then, the water line busted & flooded/damaged our house which we had to file insurance claim.

I purchased a 36-inch built in fridge and a 36-inch built in freezer several years ago. The fridge broke multiple times as in I have been through distributor service. When they stopped doing service, I went through 3 certified Viking service providers, two of which are no longer Viking reps, one which looked at the model number and refused to work on it, then back to the distributor Gateway Appliance for their advanced service tech multiple time. I had the door hinges, compressed pump, coils, refrigerant lines, all replaced and none of it fixed this piece of junk. It wouldn't cool properly, the back would freeze, then drip water. I couldn't use the bottom drawers, it would cause food to spoil in this wet warm/cold influx. Having severe allergies to mold I had two hospital visits and had to use my EpiPens both times just because I opened the fridge.
Months and months of requesting a new fridge or mine to be repaired properly I was granted my request for a new fridge. Yeah, happy dance right??? Nooo, not in the least. I was assured the new fridge would look exactly like my old one with one exception - the door would be thinner in depth. Get my fridge and by this time the one I have is a mess... not cooling. Oh and I am 2 weeks out from my last hospital ER visit. It's Friday after 5... there is no one I can call. I accept the fridge wondering if I got the wrong model. I call, leave a message to Viking on Monday. The fridge is not remotely the same. The handles are 6 inches different in height, the grill at the top is different, the grill at the bottom is different, the door handle is thicker. Sigh.
Today the guy calls me back... it's been a week. He offers to let me purchase a matching freezer at a discount. Wtf. If the fridge was fixed it would match... so why am I paying $5300.00 more for a matching freezer?? This is a nightmare. $85002+$5300=$22,300 for a fridge and freezer, not including install. I will never buy Viking again and that's a shame because I spent $$$ at Viking. I have 2 Viking microwaves, 3 Viking dishwashers, a Viking trash compactor, a 6-burner Viking range with a griddle and convection ovens, a Viking hood with heat lamps and fans, a convection oven, a warming drawer, an under the counter beverage center. And under the counter wine cooler, and a two drawer under-counter refrigerator. I'm moving soon and it will be Wolf/SubZero or Miele. Just because of this.

Side by Side Refrigerator/Freezer Model FOSB 5422D - Beautiful built-in refrigerator freezer with ice dispenser in door. VERY expensive. Major design problem with icemaker. The basket holding ice has a metal part that connects with a plastic part to propel the ice into the dispenser. The metal part quickly destroys the plastic part, rendering the ice dispenser useless. All this within the first four months of use. The replacement ice basket has been on back-order for seven weeks. If and when it is replaced, I have no reason to believe the new part will enjoy a greater life expectancy unless Viking changed the design. If you intend to dispense ice from your freezer, be very wary of buying this model.

When I renovated my kitchen in 2007, I purchased the Viking Professional Series dishwasher, fridge and gas top stove. I'VE HAD NOTHING BUT PROBLEMS WITH ALL OF THEM. After spending $11,000.00+ for these three appliances (that came highly recommended by the salesperson at a large, high end appliance store), I expected a good quality product to don my newly renovated dream kitchen... WHAT A HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT!!!
Initially, the appliances all Sat in their boxes until my kitchen renovation was completed about 6 months after my purchases. Several months after installing the appliances, the DISHWASHER broke... the water would not drain properly. Viking repair man fixed, then happened again about a year later. I asked Viking rep to replace product since same issue was re-occurring and appeared to be a pre-existing problem. I was told no; that since the dishwasher was still under warranty they would send another repair man. Fixed again... then same thing happened again within a year... except now (even though they Sat unopened in boxes first the 6 months) the warranty was over.
I was told the diverter valve needed replaced, and it would cost over $600.00 to repair!!! I was beside myself, I called Viking and said this was ridiculous since this was a pre-existing problem and I should not have to pay for repair. Well we all know their response... "Can't help as no longer under warranty." A frightening and dangerous feature of the GAS STOVE TOP is the design of the on/off knobs. I am all of 110 lbs, and sometimes when I lean forward to stir a pot on a back burner, the pressure from my body will actually turn the flame from the front burner on!!! Also, periodically when I turn one burner on, one of the burners that is off will make a clicking noise.
The REFRIGERATOR water dispenser broke after the first year. Later had troubles with the ice maker bar getting stuck in the "on" position, and more recently the clear plastic on the large pull out drawer cracked. Finally, the other day the refrigerator just stopped working - like it went into a defrost mode - ruined all frozen foods, and most of the refrigerated items. I called the store where I purchased the Vikings to see if maybe the refrigerator was still under warranty - they said no. I mentioned all the troubles I have had with these products, and the sales representative said they stopped carrying Viking products. I think that says it all!!!
The repairman came, said it was the poorly designed freon line which was directed into a drip pan (for cooling purposes) causing the line to rust/corrode, and consequently leak the freon. He was surprised to see this since he said, running the line in this manner was stopped years ago. The repair was estimated at $600.00 to replace the line, but possibly $1000.00+ if other related problems were found. The repair man said probably better to cut my losses and go with a more reliable refrigerator like GE, Kenmore or Whirlpool - rather than throwing good money after bad. Like many I want to repair since cheaper than buying new... but based on reading these postings, and past repair experiences... I'm afraid of getting burned once again. Being stuck between a rock and a hard place. :(
I would NEVER, ever recommend buying these overly expensive appliances built with their cheap parts, and poor design features. I feel like I spent a lot of money and never received a good return on my hard earned dollars. Should be illegal. Guy who mentioned a class action suit may be on to something.

Wife and I bought a house with a beautiful kitchen. We saw the Viking professional line in the house and it seemed like a blessing... until we moved in and the nightmares began. Two months into our living there, the dishwasher and refrigerator, both 2006 models have already broken several times. Little things are broken all over the inside of the fridge. The freezer does not seem to defrost and I've manually had to chop out ice from the pan inside, which is nearly impossible.
Dishwasher cannot get dishes clean at all, leaves a deposit. We've been using citric acid and scrubbing inside of washer by hand... no effect. We know an appliance repairman and he has a policy of not touching VIKING at all costs. Our nearest repairman who says they will fix is miles and miles away, and gives a "no guarantee" disclaimer on all things related to Viking. Another guys asked us for an up front retainer and our credit card before he'd even start and when we said no (seemed shifty) he said good luck because nobody wants to touch them. My parents had a GE refrigerator for 40 years. Our last fridge was Maytag and was 1/8 the price, no probs. Had a $200 GE dishwasher in old house that did a better job and no breakdowns for 10 years. Luckily, my son is an engineer and he took all the shelves out and took the inside back off in order to find the poorly engineered problem and caulk it. His repair worked. Also, the clear parts of the drawers all cracked. This is obviously a quality control problem, but when I contacted them, their response was that the refrigerator was out of warranty. The refrigerator has doors that did not line up properly from the time it was received brand new. Viking already replaced the door on the frig side, and they have sent out techs to fix the alignment problem, and they sent their head guy. None of these efforts fixed the problem. Viking replaced the motherboard on the refrigerator too. The shelves and doors and drawers all have broken multiple times. Food freezes, milk freezes, we have wasted thousands in spoiled food because of this faulty refrigerator.
Viking is now pulling the "it is out of warranty game" although they promised me they would extend the warranty since they wanted me to allow them to fix the original Pro Series Refrig when they should have replaced the lemon appliance from the start. Don't trust them. Make them put it in writing. Better yet, don't let them constantly repair their junk, and make you live through inconvenience in a kitchen you paid $25k for their top of the line Pro Series. Insist on a refund or new replacement, otherwise you will be constantly living with techs and once the warranty expires they will say you are all on your own.
Viking replaced the double ovens, and the two dishwashers. Amazing no more problems and no service calls since the original junk was removed from my home. It should be noted that we replaced the dishwashers with LG, and no problems. In fact our CA home has Sub Zero, Fisher & Paykel and Miele, and they are all twice the age of this Viking junk that is in our AZ home and no problems. We also have Kitchen Aid in our TX home and no problems. Our Viking problems over the past 3 years since building our new home has caused huge inconvenience, and the problems are obviously correlated to the poor quality control that allowed such defective appliances to be sold. As with all the other Viking problems, once the original appliance has been removed and a different one installed, we have zero service calls.
Why would Viking Customer Service fight me on this? Viking had a great rep who did such a good job of trying to correct the problems with all of their other appliances, yet they now will not acknowledge the multiple times their techs have been out and in fact they recently stated there has only been one functional service call. Apparently Viking does not keep good records or they don't consider replacing an entire door, or replacing the motherboard, or replacing cracked drawers, or fixing a constant alarm, or fixing a freezing of milk problem, or replacing cracked shelves, or replacing broken rollers, etc to be functional service calls.
If Viking will live up to their commitments they made to me I will gladly let other consumers know but as of this writing they are ignoring me and leaving me with a broken refrigerator, one that was broken from day one, and hiding behind a warranty expiration date. I called who they claim is the head of all customer service, but she would not speak with me and the receptionist told me someone else is actually the head for my region. I do not want to speak with a regional head, as this is a matter that Viking's Chief Quality Officer needs to be made aware of. Viking if you care about your customers you will have someone contact me immediately to remedy this horrible situation.

Whilst waiting for the part to be delivered tomorrow I said we must open the doors because as we have been told if a fridge is not functioning the doors should be open to prevent odors etc. As I opened the bottom drawer the fridge started to topple on top of me... my reaction was to try to stop it. However a 2 inch jut out in my counter caught the top door and prevented it from falling on top of me.
Everything crashed out of the fridge and I was surrounded by broken glass etc. We tried to push it back in place but it is on wheels and the disaster was about to be compounded... trying to hold it in place we called the local fire dept... Our Viking range has racks that are impossible to pull out. In our other home, our GE Monogram has beautiful ball-bearing shelves that glide fully in or out with ease. The Viking fridge has shelves and compartments that are all cracked, even though it's pretty new. It beeps once in a while for no apparent reason (the door is CLOSED! ); it's slow to make ice, and has no ice or water through the door. Seriously? So I turned off the fridge and turned it back on, and it seemed fine. That was 3 months ago.
Now it does not stop beeping, and the fan does not come on. We replaced the thermistor, the powerboard and still it’s beeping. Viking has now told me it is no longer under warranty and so I'm on my own. They can't understand why it beeps. I've had 4 different technicians come out and they are at a loss. Viking does not want to speak to me, since I am not a technician, and have no warranty. After spending $25K on "high end", "top of the line" appliances my response, JUNK, JUNK, JUNK! I should have stuck with Sears or GE. What went wrong: 1) MW door needed to be replaced out of the box. Kept sticking closed and would not open. Had to have it serviced. At least it was under warranty; 2) Wine cooler fan motor stopped working within the first month. Needed to be replaced. Replaced under warranty; 3) Beverage center relay needed to be replaced. Had I been able to buy one from a supplier it would have cost $45 dollars. NO I had to get the part from Viking $475.00!!! No Warranty. 4 year old appliance. Beverage center door seal had to be replaced after one year. Under warranty. 4) $5900 Refrigerator! EVERY interior drawer CRACKED AND SPLIT after 4 years of operation and had to be replaced for $500 dollars!!! It's get WORSE. The freezer door rusted after one year. Had to be replaced. Thank g-d it was under warranty.
Came home to a refrigerator in cardiac arrest 5 years after being placed in service. Alarms going off. Food spoiled. This was just after spending $200 shopping for the week. Turned out the 3 phase rectifier was toast. No warranty. $545 to replace it. Then one day later alarms going off again. Serviceman comes out finds coolant level low. Can't find the reason. Says there is a small undetectable leak. Fills the system. No WARRANTY. $400 more dollars; 5) $2500 dollar under counter "professional ice machine". Pump stopped working. Next the temp probe stopped working. Fixed under warranty. Then the temp probe went out again. I finally unplugged the unit and there it sits today unplugged. More junk. Contact Viking. Response, "YOU'RE ON YOUR OWN". No nothing! JUNK STAY AWAY. DO YOURSELF A FAVOR NEVER BUY A VIKING PRODUCT.

Both our built-in freezer and refrigerator were purchased brand new with extended warranties. Freezer constantly breaks down and the technician cannot fix it right away and they have to keep coming back to change parts and still it take 3 to 4 weeks sometimes to fix it. That is why I purchased a spare Kenmore freezer used for $200.00 and it works better than my $5000.00 dollars Viking freezer, it does not break down. The refrigerator is falling apart. All the drawers are all broken or cracked from change in temperature and the warranty does not cover bad quality products. In short my recommendation to all Americans is don't buy Viking, it is a very bad company with a big line of bad products and bad customer service. My previous built-in refrigerator and freezer was Thermador and I did not have any problem for 24 years.

Professional Refrigerator/freezer model #VCFF236SS002 - Purchased an existing home with barely-used 2012 Viking appliances. Within a week neither refrigerator nor freezer were holding temperatures. The shelves in freezer were also easily off-track. Took 3 days to reach Viking Corporation since it does not take calls on weekends or holidays, nor after 5pm ET. Once connected to Viking Corp service rep I learned that the appliance is under warranty for 30 more days. But the approved service provider/distributor for the state of WI is in IL, and the first available diagnostic appointment was one week out.
The company rep at LV Distributors in IL gave "a 50-50 chance" that the service tech would be able to repair the refrigerator on the first visit, and could not estimate the time it would take to obtain necessary parts, nor when a tech would return for 2nd time. Calls to local high end appliance sellers & Viking owners about alternative service providers were fruitless. Reading Consumer Reports and other posts from owners in same circumstance makes it clear that this $3600 appliance is a bad choice if one wants a reliable, sturdy appliance.

If you buy a Viking fridge you most likely have been duped into buying a fridge built by someone else with the Viking name on it. Certainly hate my Viking Pro 48. Many of the parts are not unique to Viking and the overall quality is poor. The ice makers seizes up and burns out. Viking did not install a heat trace to keep the water line from freezing. Every time the power goes out, the ice maker seizes up. Bad news. One new ice maker per year. I would not buy it if it was the cheapest fridge on earth -- let alone spending $10 grand on it.

We have a Viking refrigerator and have had the repair person out several times to repair the many problems. I tried to get another repair person out here but they tell me I am in his area and no one else is to repair my refrigerator. This repair person's experience is a 1 from 1 to 10. I stopped calling him and started to repair the refrigerator myself and I have no training at all. I have replaced the strip across the top. I have replaced one of the thermistors and now I need to replace the other one. I have replaced the freezer fan, the refrigerator fan. The alarm is starting to go off at different times day and night. I have had water drain all over our wooden floor several times and it's starting to show water stains now. I have had to take everything out of the Viking and put it in the GE in the garage. So, I can unplug the ice in the defroster outlet in the freezer.
We have had several problems with our microwave, now the numbers will not show up and the part cost $210 dollars. I have put up with this problem for several months. It takes the oven a long time to heat up. I have spent several thousands of dollars on Viking products and what a bunch of ** their products are. The repair person that did come out said the Viking products keep him busy. He told me that he has less trouble with the GE Monogram and he thinks they are the best. I'm about ready to take this refrigerator to the dump and get a GE.

We purchased our Viking 48" built in in 2005 and during the next two years, had (11) service calls to either fix the ice maker or the temperature control module. The ice maker never functioned properly and we finally replaced it at a cost of over $550. Their service rep. actually argued and yelled at my wife on the phone because the item was out of warranty. How in the hell can any company stand for that type of customer relations and expect people like us to recommend their products??
But there is a light at the end of the tunnel and there are some companies that still know the business of good customer relations and that is Wolf / Sub Zero. Point in fact, my double oven control unit went out. We called the Wolf service center and asked them if there was anything they could do for us to minimize the cost of replacing the module at $760.00. They immediately said that they would waive the cost of the parts but we would have to pay a service fee of $125. DONE DEAL. By the way, the unit was ten years old. I tell this story to everyone who will listen, perhaps Viking will, someday. To be fair, I did find out that there was a recall on the refrigerator door pins that could break and the door could fall off. I called and they were very nice and will cover the replacement costs and parts 100%, which they should on any safety recall.

Thank God for an over 25 year old Hotpoint fridge that we have had in our garages in several homes across the country but has never has had a problem. In the year 2000 my husband and I bought a home and shortly after began an extensive and costly kitchen remodel. We spared no expense and believing we were buying the best, we bought a Viking refrigerator. In hindsight, it was our worst decision. Almost from the very beginning we began having problems. The ice maker stopped working, the door accessories and drawers began to crack to the point that one of the condiment containers has a huge hole on the bottom rendering it totally unusable. Certainly not the quality you'd expect from such expensive appliances.
When food started spoiling we knew we had a big problem and called Viking for help. By then, of course, warranty had expired but they recommended a local service company. By the third visit with no resolution we knew we were dealing with an incompetent repairman and my husband, at this point beyond frustrated, practically threw him out of our home. We never got any satisfaction from Viking.
And it's incomprehensible to me that after spending thousands of $$$ on a beautiful, state-of-the-art refrigerator I am forced to make ice in plastic ice cube trays and keeping milk, cheese, cold cuts and veggies in my old GE in the basement because the temp is never cold enough no matter how we adjust the settings. Last night I opened the door to put something away and felt warm air. The Viking finally conked out. So, this morning my husband and I are debating who to call. And as I google Viking, I came across your reviews and, can I say, I am shocked by the hundreds of negative stories I have spent over 2 hours reading, stories so similar to mine.
So now I don't know what to do. Do I dare spend possibly $1,500-2,000 in repairs which may or may not fix the problem or do I ditch the Viking and take the loss? One of our dilemma is that our kitchen was totally custom therefore the Viking is tightly wall mounted with molding and trim all around. Would I be able to find a non-Viking refrigerator that would fit the same dimensions? I am so angry. This is certainly not what one would expect from a company like Viking. I am open to join a class action suit.

I came to find out this is the biggest and worst scam to rub people of their money with nothing but a heavy chunks of metal. I have had problem with my gas cook-top where I had it repaired 4 times. It kept clicking and the technician said the board was bad. Changing the board resolved it for a day and then he said the ignition parts are bad so he changed them. This started again so another company came and fixed it somehow and said the wiring was bad. After all this the cups around the burners changed color.
Refrigerator does not dispense water and leaks in freezer and freezes all the time making it impossible to dispense ice and only way to get ice is to carve it because it is clumped together. Microwave oven does not heat as much as $150 microwave and has been corroding inside. Oven stopped working during Christmas time and took 6 months for them to figure out what was wrong with me being on the phone for hours with Viking executive offices. Vent unit has four settings which one has never worked.
Viking does not take any responsibility for any of the problems you get. Standing behind their products is a news to them. I think their policy is sell, run and hide. I do have a Whirlpool Refrigerator that has spend most its life of 21 years in the garage with harsh temperatures but is still running like the first day. I would not buy and would discourage anyone that I care about to stay away from these products. I bought these items from Number 1 Appliance and they said these come with 10 years of warranty but each time I called the warranty company they told me that problem is not covered. My under the counter ice maker died after one year and I did get the distributor that I bought it from to give me a new one. My wine cooler came in with the lighting system not working and so did my 6 burner stove. Several of the eyes on the stove wouldn't ignite. The locking mechanism for self cleaning quit working too. Well, in the event that a Viking representative would ever read these reviews, I thought I would add our experience. We have a 48" side by side professional unit which, thank heavens, the previous owners paid for, not us. I would definitely give 1 star if we were the ones out $11,000... The day we moved in there was a puddle of water on the floor under the freezer side. Since that day - 6 months ago - we have had a technician out 4 times for the same problem. He has tried multiple solutions. One day the freezer just quit working. So much ice had built up inside that the fan broke. Now the second fan has broken. The contents of our freezer have just melted for the second time.
We eventually said, "Forget the ice maker! Who needs ice?! Just disconnect the water from the freezer!" And today, again, the freezer is dead and water is puddling on the floor. It's a mystery to us, and obviously the technician. Since we can't afford to replace this beast - and don't really want a gigantic built-in space with a tiny-looking regular fridge in it - we are going to buy a freezer for our garage and just use the fridge side! Maybe I can use the freezer to store extra light bulbs and paper towels...I will never buy Viking!

NOTE TO REALTORS: STOP telling people that Viking Kitchens are the best! You are doing everyone a big dis-service. What do you know about appliance quality? You only know that Viking looks good. Our Viking Fridge costs $9,999. It's beautiful on the outside, but for that amount of money, I also expect it to keep the food cold, and it cannot do that.
NOTE TO CONSUMERS: If a realtor tries to sell you a house with an "All-Viking Kitchen", tell her your offer to purchase the house is contingent on the sellers replacing all of the appliances with another brand! That should get the realtors' attention.
A Viking refrigerator is like a Ferrari car. It looks beautiful, and your neighbors will drool over it every time they visit. But only you and your mechanic know the sad truth: Your Viking Refrigerator and your Ferrari need major servicing every 6 months to keep them running. You have to keep a Sears Kenmore refrigerator in the garage so that when your Viking breaks, you don't lose $1000 of food. You have a Toyota Corolla in the garage so that every time your Ferrari breaks, you can still get to work.
If you are independently wealthy, and you have a housekeeper who can be at home every time the Viking repairman comes to visit, then buy Viking. But if you must take time off from work to stay home and wait for the repairman, keep in mind you will miss 3-4 days of work per year.
Summary: Viking Refrigerators are very expensive to buy ($9,999) and even more expensive to maintain. The first two years, while it's still under warranty, you'll say to yourself, "Whew, I'm glad it broke under warranty!" and then the warranty ends and it keeps breaking and keeps breaking, and then you think, "How did I get into this mess?" Small repairs are $300-$500. Major repairs are $1500 to $2000.

We are now in year two of our new house. And in year two of HELL in dealing with our completed Viking Kitchen. Since the install we have had problems with the two dishwashers, refrigerator, double oven with griddle and microwave. We have had numerous technicians that Viking sent come and "fix" the problems. One dishwasher leaks. The tech could not find the leak "but since it only leaked the one time, that shouldn't be a problem". It only leaked one time before he came out, and that is because we stopped using it. We have hardwood floors and a basement. Thankfully I was home when I spotted the puddle of water.
We haven't had a working ice machine since about 6 months after install. They have been out to replace countless times. Still not working. Each time we open the freezer door, water drips onto the hardwood floor. The griddle and oven heating temps are not accurate. The griddle from front to back differs about 300 degrees and side to side about 350. The oven cooks far better on the left side then right. The tech came out replaced a few things and said all was fine. We still have food that is uncooked on the right side. The next tech that came out suggested I stand there and rotate whatever food I am cooking so that it cooks evenly.
Each time I called Viking, I got the run around and lip service. The answer is "we will send out a technician." Seems they think we all stay home and have time to wait around for someone to show up. I have repeatedly asked for them to remove these appliances and refund my purchase price, to which they always say let me give this to my supervisor. And then we never hear from anyone. IN MY OPINION, THESE ARE NOT QUALITY PRODUCTS. I have and will continue to tell anyone and everyone not to buy VIKING APPLIANCES. THEY GOT 1 STAR ONLY BECAUSE I HAD TO SELECT ONE. OTHERWISE THEY WOULD HAVE RECEIVED A NEGATIVE 5 STARS!!!!!

I had a Subzero in my other home for 20 years and this never happened!!! So during this beautiful Sunday I'm inside scraping ice and cleaning up water. Someone has to be accountable.

I purchased my Viking side by side 'built in' refrigerator in 2011... I have had ongoing problems... The dealer sent out a technician with a list of problems we were having... Water freezing within the door to dispenser, rattle within the grille, door hinge catches and pings when opened and closed. After a couple of times with dealer technician, they sent me to a local authorized Viking repair business. Numerous technicians were sent out to work on previous problems and then we started adding additional problems... The back wall piece that ice tray connected to came loose, and again no ice or water dispensing. Auger motor broke.
As to date, 2014 I am still contacting technicians to repair my frig. I just contacted Viking direct and wanted to know what can be done! She apologized and apologized and yet said that Viking will not take any steps to review and/or replace my messed up refrigerator... I was so displeased. The Viking appliances are high-end and I paid quite a nice ticket price for a kitchen full of Vikings... And being American made, which is why we chose Viking. We thought they would be a service quality company. Not the case in my experience. I would not recommend Viking appliances.

10 years ago we bought a 42 inch side by side frig. Service and repair began regular visits from day three and it has been a terrible experience. There are too many issues to list here, but if any one cared I would be glad to share the "rap sheet". The original dealer was Sewell Appliance in Sandy Springs, GA and the service company was Hadco. One of the frustrating issues was that many of the diagnosis discussions did not make sense. Cause and effect, symptoms and solutions, etc. are not always rocket science. Many ill-fated service calls have been endured. Once again, details available upon request.
We have lost contents several times and constantly put up with. High temps, iced up element, overflowing drain pan, on and on - we now have a small back up fridge plus TWO $160 freezers to rely on. I have no confidence in the Viking fridge. I'm surprised they are still made. I curse the day we saved $700 by not buying a Subzero. What do I want? I would like to have a qualified Viking rep look at my service records and admit that this is not normal. In the meantime, I would never have a Viking product and am seeking ways to publicize my opinion until Viking would step in for some sort of acknowledgement.

Have problems with this since 2008, with the little square pipes that connect from the refrig section down into the freezer freezing up solid with ice. When this happens the refrigerator warms up as it cuts the circulation from the freezer to the refrigerator. I have tried modifying the ducts to no avail... This is a crappy design, never seen anything like this. I've had GE appliances that are almost 50 years old that "never" ice up... The VIKING is defrosting, but it looks like the cycle is too short to warm the ducts properly - either they should be tied physically to the coil for warming or changed to teflon so ice won't stick....
IT'S IMPOSSIBLE TO GET DATA OR SERVICE BULLETINS from VIKING, and their STAFF are clueless.... These appliances are of such poor quality, how do they manage to market this junk? Class Action? Consumers' Reports?? Someone needs to shake these guys up.... The basic design is good but the product delivery is awful...

This is the one and only online product review I have ever written, and in spite of the many that precede mine, I feel compelled to chime in and advise other consumers to avoid Viking refrigerators (and dishwashers too, for that matter) like the plague!! We spent 2 1/2 yrs. on a complete state-of-the-art rebuild of our official historic landmark Victorian, to which we returned in July, 2007. As a Realtor who specializes in the sale of luxury properties in the San Francisco Bay Area. I had been recommending top-of-line Viking products to clients who needed to refurbish and stage their homes for resale. Today, I feel badly for ever having done that!
We have a built-in custom paneled upper/lower Viking fridge that acted up immediately. Within a matter of months, the fresh produce in the lowest pullout semi-froze and had to be discarded. I believe (but am not certain) that special heater was installed under warranty to prevent this from happening again. Before the year was out, another problem (forget the details) and was fixed. Then, right after the warranty expired, the contents of the freezer melted and we paid for the installation of another heater...
At some point thereafter, water from the fridge started pouring out onto the hardwood kitchen floor. Thank God we were in town when this happened and able to towel up the leakage for a few days until another heater could be installed. The entire bottom of the unit was frozen solid, and the floor boards immediately against the unit had warped.. Under duress, Viking paid for this repair. Finally, within the past year, the cooling of the refrigerator compartment ceased and we were without refrigeration for 4 or 5 days before -- you guessed it -- yet another heater could be installed (the cooling ducts had frozen).
Additionally, we got a recall notice for the defective front door. The dealer who enthusiastically sold the Viking appliances to us stated in response to my expression of distress & disgust: "Demand a replacement from Viking. They've had nothing but problems with those refrigerators (and dishwashers) -- they suck!" I requested a replacement, without success... As for the dishwasher, while all the interior components had to be replaced and I must basically hand wash everything and use the unit for sterilization purposes only, at least it's performed better than the refrigerator. Enough said!

I have filed numerous complaints with Viking regarding my Designer Series all freezer, model # DFFB304. My complaints get addressed for about five minutes and then lost in cyber-space. Viking has mastered ignoring the customer and blaming everyone else who has ever touched the freezer instead of their own poorly engineered/manufactured product. I have now had three separate Viking repair professionals at their recommendation identify the problem. Somehow, Viking is holding me liable on an install issue that was done by one of their authorized dealers who is no longer in business. They probably went bankrupt as a result of selling Viking products.
Condensation builds up in my freezer as a result of a failure in an interior heating element in the doors which is supposed to create the "seal" effect when the doors shuts. Now, my freezer doesn't shut properly, the interior unit is warped and I have nothing but condensation that eventually freezes inside the freezer and leaks all over my floors. Someone at Viking needs to take responsibility for their faulty product. I have a twelve-year warranty that is supposed to cover the failed parts, but I feel like Viking is going to drag out their BS until the 12 years pass. My next plan is to get a consumer advocate attorney involved and hold Viking responsible for their own poorly designed product. Designer Series should state "Poorly Designed Series!"

The Viking model I purchased was: DFSB423. It is a side by side and we had custom wood panels made for it so it would blend into the cabinets. It worked fine for the first year and then all of a sudden the gaskets on the doors would not connect with the outer shell of the fridge (Frame). So I had them replaced... and NOTHING changed. After the third or fourth visit from the official Viking fridge repairman, I was told there was NOTHING I could do to stop the fridge from leaking. There is a factory flaw with the foam filler process when the unit is put together... so basically what happens is the shell (frame) where the gaskets are supposed to seal gets warped because of this manufacturer flaw with the foam, which causes condensation and leaking all over our wood floors. Fabulous!

So far we had replaced: bottom set of fans, gaskets, computer panel, ice maker, and door hinge. The refrigerator freezer unit door still swings open by itself, always have to hold on to it otherwise it can hit person behind, which happens. Interior plastic bins all show signs of cracks. Water evaporating fan has stopped working on one of the units. Water breeds mosquitoes unless you clean tray by removing from panel screws.
Today, second time in the past month that the unit started beeping because freezer and fridge temperature reached high temperature, meaning refrigerator stopped working because unit iced over inside. As I write this review a few days before Christmas, the refrigerator randomly decided to stop working. Convenient now that I have a turkey and all of the other items to make Christmas dinner.
I am so frustrated with this brand. After you spend the amount of money these appliances cost, you expect them to work. The authorized repair reps are idiots. Our repairman actually once told me that the refrigerator was leaking water all over the floor because we put leftovers in the refrigerator and bacteria crawled into the drain line and clogged it up. Um... what???!!! The refrigerator leaked on two different occasions and warped our wood floor. The repairman moved the refrigerator and scratched our wood floor.
The oven took hours to cook anything - even a simple meatloaf. The shelves slid out once the door was open. The temperature fluctuated +/- 15 degrees. He told us that was normal or the food would burn. No. Just no. The burners on the gas range only light halfway around. The vent just stopped working. The dishwasher leaves dishes wet. Ice maker replaced 2x, then when it stops working after 30 days, I am told it only has a 30 day parts warranty. Thirty days, are you freaking kidding me? Now the Viking Dishwasher is out and again. Oh Viking had lots of trouble with their computer boards, but now on newer versions, all is good, yeah right. Imagine my surprise to find that we couldn't get same day service for such a serious problem. Only after contacting Dave and Donna from RiverBend and Co, where we purchased all of our appliances, did we finally hear from a service company. They came out 2 days later. Since the parts are so expensive for this appliance, they are not kept in stock. Not only were we charged for the new part over $500, we had the honor of waiting almost 2 more weeks for the part to arrive and a service person to come back to install it. A horrible 2 weeks, but at least it was after the holidays and the refrigerator was able to be repaired.
October 28, 2013, I came home from work to an alarm. Our freezer had defrosted again! By the middle of the night, the refrigerator alarm was going off. We lost everything for a second time! I called VESCO, the company who repaired our refrigerator the first time and they had no availability to send someone out and were not very interested in our situation. They recommended I call HADCO, and after 24 hrs received a response that they had great news - a serviceman would be in our area in 8 days! I think that is unacceptable. I started searching online to see if other Viking owners had had similar experiences. There are thousands of us posting similar reviews online about these refrigerators. How about some lemon laws here. I called Viking directly and the brain dead receptionists can not get me to the right person. Why? Because they can't fathom why someone with a California phone number lives in Texas. Gee, if you want to be elite Viking, you might want to consider that your customers have multiple homes in other areas. I regret buying a Viking Dishwasher (POS does not even have heated dry), Viking Range (delivered broken), Viking Microwave (over priced Kitchen Aid) and Viking D3 Fridge (Broken on Delivery). I have yet to get a customer service rep to call me back. No one is empowered to make a decision. I will be buying Wolf/SubZero next time.

When I remodeled my kitchen, I chose a Viking refrigerator because I preferred its interior to the Sub-Zero and because I thought it was a reliable brand. MY VIKING REFRIGERATOR IS HORRIBLE. It has been nothing but problems. Initially, the tray on the bottom needed to be emptied multiple times daily (more than a quart) so that the water would not leak onto the floor. Additionally, there was a tremendous amount of condensation inside the refrigerator. I was told this was normal. If the water is not draining out of the bottom, I know I have a different problem. The part that regulates the temperature needs to be replaced because the refrigerator is freezing everything in it. Even when that is working, I cannot keep fresh fruits and vegetables in this unit because it does not regulate the temperature uniformly. Parts of the refrigerator freeze even when I have it on the lowest temperature.
I have recently resorted to turning the refrigerator off at night (the frozen milk will be thawed enough by morning to use). That also stops the alarm (which is to alert me that my FROZEN refrigerator is too warm) from going off in the middle of the night. When the door sagged so badly that it was getting to the point that it looked like it was going to fall off, I had to have two repairmen come to take it off and realign it (an expensive repair). My refrigerator was not a part of the "door falling off the refrigerator" recall. The ripping gasket was replaced (all repairs have been done by factory authorized repairmen) with an authorized replacement part that was of much smaller dimension. The new factory replacement part was not thick enough to reach the refrigerator because of the design of the door itself. The plastic form of the door bows out further than the gasket, so it is now impossible to get a seal.
Most recently, the shelves on the door fall off. The repairman told me I need to replace the door because it has warped. After years of throwing good money into an expensive "high-end" unit, and having replacement parts installed that are poorly designed for my unit, I do not have any confidence that Viking has engineered a replacement door that is well supported by its hinges, will close with a seal, and will not warp. I would have liked this on my original refrigerator. It is a basic expectation. More importantly, a new door will not resolve the poor refrigeration system or the water on the floor (Another basic expectation... a non-leaking refrigerator that reliably will not freeze your food, and not have excessive condensation on the interior).
How can Viking get away with duping consumers into spending so much money for such a poorly engineered product? Get The Word Out... Consumers Beware!!!... Don't go near Viking refrigerators unless you want to throw away thousands of dollars in repairs, throw out frozen lettuce, ruin your floors from the leaking water, and replace the refrigerator, cabinets and trim when you throw out your Viking refrigerator because you need a refrigerator that works reliably and don't need a house sitter to mop up the water that leaks daily.

I have Viking refrigerator (48 by 84) with a diagnostic of internal leak made by authorized expert. Non-repairable. Still under the warranty (12 years sealed system). Viking Service Manager at the distribution center received the expert's report on August 29, 2013, but ignored it. After I contacted them on September 23, 2013, they started to interpret the warranty in different ways. Also told me to contact Viking customer service by the phone. I stay without a fridge till now. I had a meeting with the Service Manager. He apologized for the delay (about a month!) and asked to wait again. To show his work he provided me with the email sent by him to the Regional Service Manager and the reply. General idea - let's make her go back and forth while we get Viking on the same page. Then offer her to buy a replacement unit at 6160 + 15% tax, 50% of the actual retail price.

10 years ago we did a remodel of our kitchen and game room after saving up for eight years to pay for it. I convinced my wife to purchase the Viking refrigerator over the Sub Zero which she really wanted. She had purchased a Viking range at our old house which she loved and we moved it to our new home. After it and the new refrigerator were installed I felt that it was perfect and I was proud of the fact that we were able to afford such a nice kitchen. Well soon after we had problems that everyone here has had and more.
I have been holding back from blasting Viking on the net for a while. Tonight we came home to see water stains in our game room ceiling, coming from the kitchen upstairs right under the fridge. I followed the water line through the drop ceiling up under the fridge. All good, no water or leaks from the line or connection. Then I notice that the drip pan is MELTED completely and is stuck to the floor like TAR. So if you are reading this and you had over heating/thermostat and coolant leaks and ice buildups and gasket replacements and hinge recalls and numerous service calls. YOU better check your drip pan. Did I mention that I work for a moving company and bash Vikings name everywhere I can. Imagine moving furniture for 8 years to pay for this.

We bought a Viking fridge and separate freezer in 2006 when we remodeled our home because they replaced SubZero products and fit into the spaces perfectly. We assumed when you pay for top end products, you get top end products. Instead, we have become used to the freezer leaking onto the floor and a sheet of ice on the bottom shelf. Meanwhile, our fridge has begun acting up and is unable to regulate its temperature. We have been getting up in the middle of the night every night to turn off the alarm and have been dealing with frozen fruit and slushy milk.
We called a repairman out who told us the door hinge needs replacing and the door doesn't shut properly, so a couple of sensors now also need replacing. We are facing a $1300 bill for that alone, and also have to pay an installer to come out and re-level the fridge. Because we have a malfunctioning fridge and are trying to operate in a family home, this is an urgent repair for us. Today we found out the parts are backordered and it will be up to six weeks before they arrive. How is a family supposed to manage for six weeks without a properly functioning fridge???
We were also told the water lines to the freezer are frozen up and we need to turn the freezer off for two days and defrost it. What exactly we are supposed to do with a freezer full of food during this process seems to be our problem. We read some of these reviews while trying to troubleshoot our own issues and hoped we would not end up adding a review to this site, but sadly, you can add us to the list of disgruntled Viking owners who are wondering exactly what they paid for when they bought top of the line appliances and ended up with an unreliable money pit instead. I will think long and hard before spending another penny on Viking products again.

Our builder sent us to his appliance vendor to select kitchen appliances, whereupon a salesman convinced us to upgrade to Viking--there was some kind of package deal on at the time. The first 2 years were marked by constant frustration. The fridge had no shortage of problems (our version had a fridge above and freezer below). The hinges were replaced by a factory-authorized repairman twice (the first time, he forgot to lubricate them, and we ended up with a small pile of metal dust from the grinding metal parts). It took several attempts to get the door to stop swinging 180 degrees. The metal freezer rack started rusting (the factory sent the wrong part for the first attempted repair).
Later, the thermostat failed and had to be replaced (it was actually my co-worker who diagnosed the problem--meanwhile, the distributor denied that could be the issue). At some point, I noticed the plastic door gasket was tearing, but I let that one go. These days, every time I look at the fridge, I can't help but notice that it isn't aligned properly. And of course, we never even thought to look at the Energy Guide sticker, where I was surprised to find it's rated one of the least efficient refrigerators in its class.
The oven arrived with a faulty door. A new one arrived, but the repairman sent it back because it had been damaged in shipping. The second warranty repair seemed OK, but my wife was always unhappy at how long it took for the oven to warm up.
The microwave's "magnetron" failed under warranty and was replaced. But this morning, the microwave started arcing, smoking, and making spectacular sparks from behind the back panel. It's now 6 years old, and I think its life has ended.
I'm pleased to say that we did not roll over and play dead, and successfully argued our case to get Viking to cover all of our problems under warranty (except today's event). But my wife and I lead busy lives, and it's been very draining to be constantly booking appointments, waiting around for repair people to show, and badgering the company. When we first bought Viking, I read all about how they studied and learned from Toyota's quality control systems. All I can say is, they couldn't have been paying much attention on those trips to Japan.

Viking 42' side by side refrigerator - Our kitchen is mostly Viking appliances. The stove and ovens have been good. This is our second Viking refrigerator. The first one was recalled because the doors were falling off. Our choice was to either have the doors replaced or to purchase a new Viking at a reduced price. We opted for the replacement and decided to upgrade to an ice and water on the door feature. What a mistake. The ice machine on this unit has not worked properly since day one. We have had several service calls. The last service call was placed in July.
Apparently, Viking only had a contract with one person for warranty work and that person was not available due to an illness. Viking then sent out another company. They ordered a new ice machine. We did not hear anything from anyone for over 2 months. Apparently the parts were on back order. Now the refrigerator is leaking water. It will take a week to get someone out. At that time, they should have the ice machine parts.
Viking is blaming the service provider in Las Vegas. The service provider is blaming Viking. This refrigerator costs over $10,000.00. I would NEVER purchase from Viking again. Save your money, get an LG or Kenmore or if you need to go big, go Sub Zero. Customer service is a thing of the past, unfortunately. When you buy these over the top expensive units that are made so cheaply now, ask where the service departments are located. If it is not local, then look somewhere else. For $10,000.00 plus dollars, you deserve better. Much better.

Viking is overpriced garbage. The larger oven bottom metal has warped badly. The stove top burners are hard to auto light. The middle griddle has had a temperature control problem since new and now barely heats up. The fridge/freezer condensation drip pan on the bottom overflows every other month. I believe this is because they tried to not use an electric heater for evaporation to save electricity but it is an energy pig anyways. I changed the ice maker which now works fine because it isn't made by Viking. The through the door ice dispenser has never worked consistently even after being replaced. The hood is okay but is a ** to clean properly. An appliance repairman told me Kitchen Aid is much better quality and the parts are cheaper but more reliable.

We bought a house in 2010 built in 2008 that had Viking Professional Series appliances. I should have kept track of all my service calls. So far I have had the refrigerator worked on at least twice, the freezer once, the microwave twice, my ovens do not heat evenly, and the dishwasher now is broken. It starts up, water runs in and then it stops. The computer board needs to be replaced, and it's a $500 part, not counting installation. I am going to buy a new dishwasher and try to sell it on Craigslist for a couple of hundred dollars. It was an $1800 dishwasher. I have posted on Facebook and told everyone I know -- AVOID VIKING APPLIANCES and run, don't walk, from any houses that have them.

This is the worst investment I have ever made!! My Viking refrigerator is a nightmare. We renovated the kitchen nine years ago and I purchased a Viking Range and Refrigerator. We have had nothing but issues with it. Finally, after hounding the company and making numerous phone calls and threatening the lemon law, they replaced it with a new one and shortly thereafter, this one started to do the same thing! The freezer floor builds up with ice and then stops cooling the refrigerator. I have lost probably 6 refrigerators full of food!! Because you have no idea when it stops working.
This last time, I came home from vacation to a refrigerator that was 68 degrees!! Now it has been recalled due to a faulty door that could break off at any point in time! It looks beautiful in my kitchen but it is the biggest hunk of garbage on the market. And I am stuck with it because I cannot afford to replace it at this point. I paid $6000 for a refrigerator and my husband is now on the ground with a hair dryer blowing the ice out of the back of the refrigerator so that it will start working again. I should have kept the old Amana refrigerator I had previously for 15 years - never had a single problem with it! Viking should be ashamed of themselves!!

We live in a neighborhood of $2 million homes that were all built in 2002-03. The builder put all Viking appliances in the kitchens of every home. The refrigerators are 48-inch wide side-by-side built-ins. We had problems starting in year 1, and it continued to year 2, and Viking replaced the entire refrigerator in year 3. We continue to have problems every year, but it's long out of warranty.
I don't know every family in the neighborhood, but the families that I do know are very unhappy with their 48" Viking refrigerators. Most of the Viking refrigerators in the neighborhood have broken down repeatedly. One family hired a lawyer and got the fridge replaced a SECOND time in 10 years. I wasn't so lucky - I asked Viking to haul away the refrigerator a second time and replace it, but Viking convinced me that they could fix it, so I allowed them to send out a repair team at their expense. It took over 6 trips to get everything working again. After 3 more years, it broke again, this time out of warranty.
The Viking refrigerators are beautiful, but they remind me of certain expensive import cars which look beautiful but need a full-time mechanic to keep them running, if you know what I mean. Basically, these units cannot control the temperature. In the winter, everything in our fridge freezes (water bottles, veggies, etc). In the summer, everything gets rotten (milk goes sour, ants come in and eat the veggies, etc). Even when we try to manually override the temp, it won't hold a "good" temperature.
The Realtors LOVE Viking, and brag about Viking kitchens non-stop. Have they ever owned Viking? I doubt it. Now, when we hear Realtors talking about Viking kitchens, we laugh at them - they haven't got a clue what they are talking about.

We did an expensive kitchen remodel in 2008, installing a $5000 built-in 36-inch Viking All-Fridge. In these last 5 years we've had nothing but trouble with it, and had to get service men out here numerous times. Often they were not able to fix it. It seems from the other reviews that we've been having the same identical problems with this fridge: 1.The beeper would start beeping at any time while the door was closed - was fixed. 2. The uber-heavy door is sagging to the left - was worked on, but still visibly sagging, so I don't think the fridge closes properly. 3. Ice builds up on the cooling panel behind the top shelf. 4. Water constantly collects on the shelves, dripping everywhere, and everything is wet inside. Have to keep towels on the shelves to keep them as dry as possible. Have to put in dry towels every few days. Have to take out shelves and drawers to dry out, as vegetables etc. will stink and rot when sitting in water all the time. 5. My vegetables freeze in the veggie drawer, and have to be discarded. Can't use the drawers.
Numbers 3, 4 and 5 have been ongoing for about a year now. More than one serviceman has tried to fix it, and I have no hope that it will ever change. In the beginning the fridge was under warranty, and the "repairs" cost nothing. That soon expired, and we've been paying out of pocket for constant repairs to this so-called "high-end" fridge, which it is not. Our patience is wearing thin. The service people have been very helpful, and really tried their best to solve the problems, phoning Viking, and getting advice from them as to what they should do, but nothing seems to work. We live in Canada, but as Viking has no problem selling their products here, they should also be accountable here when their products don't deliver.
This morning, the repairman came out here once again. Viking has told him to install a new gasket, which is the rubber around the door that ensures a tight seal. He did not do it, and told me straight up to cut my losses, get rid of this fridge, and get another one. Easier said than done, because it sits built into a space especially designed for it. So we are pretty much screwed. I asked him to send me a list of all the repairs they had done on this fridge so far, and I will post it here when I receive it.
There is no warranty anymore of course, but it would be nice if Viking would acknowledge our very sticky problem, take responsibility, and reimburse us for the price of a second hand fridge. This is the first time in our lives that we've had problems with a fridge, and we sorely regret buying it. We will never buy any Viking product ever again, and will certainly advise everybody else against doing so. Had I known then what I know now, I would never have bought a Viking product. Fortunately my other appliances are not Viking, and none of them has given me any trouble so far.

Our Viking Professional Kitchen included an under counter bar fridge. It worked for less than a month before needing repairs. About every three months after that, it would suddenly just stop working. Parts for repair would take up to a month and a half. I tried talking to Viking but they would not accept that this product was a lemon and maintained that it was covered by warranty (so why should I complain). They didn't get the issue was that we paid way more for a high-end product that worked for only a few months total out of the first year. It has been repaired a half dozen times now (appears to be a poorly designed electronics control - not a compressor).
Fortunately, we purchased extended warranty as the same problem has occurred again. Once again, it's a month or more waiting for parts. Our Extended warranty is over this fall. If something goes wrong after that, then we are on our own. I will toss it and buy another brand. No problem with any other Viking products, but based on the terrible Viking corporate response, I would not buy from them again. Wolf /Sub-Zero is a better combination if you are springing for high-end appliances.

Our Viking refrigerator was purchased in 2002. The side-by-side style and drawer system looked great when purchased. In the first year under warranty, the bottom slide-out drawers and hinges snapped off and broke several times. The tracking was replaced as well as the entire drawer system. The motor broke, drawers cracked, compressor broke and the sealer to the door replaced. I think everything was replaced in the first year. Now that it's 2013, every side holder on the door side are held together with duck tape. The ice maker stopped working a long time ago. Drawers lost their handles - all broken off. Compressor is out and the bottom drawer a joke. Doors don't stay closed. The alarm goes off randomly when it wants to have to get out of bed to press the alarm off button several times a day.
We still have the recall replacement hinges for the doors uninstalled as of yet. Apparently, the doors can fall off randomly and hurt people. Viking offered a discount for a new refrigerator if we decide not to get the hinges replaced. However, I am not sure that will solve any future problems. We should have purchased the competitor's brand, which was slightly higher in price. Tried to see if they would offer anything more than the 1 year warranty. Nothing offered except a discount on a new one.

I purchased a Viking refrigerator in 2006 and have had nothing but problems. We've had thousands of dollars of repairs including replacement for several plastic pieces for over $750. In 30 years, I've never replaced an interior part on a refrigerator. Viking said the interior pieces are only under warranty for 30 days. Relays have been replaced, the motherboard, and in October the compressor died and was still under warranty. The part was promised by Hadco and then rescinded. It took well over 3 months for the part to come into the dealer. Meanwhile, I had to buy a new refrigerator. I was supposed to go through Thanksgiving and Christmas without a working refrigerator. After the part was finally sent, they sent a customer satisfaction survey. Why they bother, I do not know. They have the worst product and service I have ever encountered. I will never buy another Viking product. I've shared my experience with everyone I can to spare them my inconveniences.

This is my second review of the Viking 36-inch all refrigerator. Ice formed inside the unit and this interfered with the fan. Water collected on shelves and under refrigerator. The first unit was repaired a number of times. Viking then replaced it with a new refrigerator. Same problems. We insisted that Viking refund money to the dealer and we now have a Sub Zero. Finally, after almost six months, we have a refrigerator that works. While the interior design of the Viking is better, their engineering is poor. I will suggest to the dealer, who was helpful, that he considers to stop recommending Viking refrigerators. I have no experience with other Viking products.
