Well, having just signed up last year for a 5 yr. contract, I am starting to regret it with this company. The central heating unit stopped pumping out heat with only cold air coming out. The first repairman that came to look at it mentioned most contractors do not like to take Home Protection repair calls as they did not pay very much. The heater at that time started to work. Then it stopped, the second repairman that out came said it was the Relay switch, that would be close to $1,000. He said he would let the company know. No one calls me to follow up. I called and this company said, "oh, the relay switch was recalled and not covered." After searching for recalls online and talking to Consumer Affairs 800 number given to me by the heater company, I was told there was no recall and the part had been recalled, it would not have lasted 10 years.
Then my spa started going on by itself last week, I was given a contractor who set an appointment on last Saturday at 8:30 am and did not show up or call. Monday I called and when I identified me, he hung up on me. I called again and no answer. I called THP and the rep Daniele said she would call the contractor and give him to the end of the day to respond. Well this is the 2nd day, and no one has called me back. Oh, the only reason I give one star is that a washing machine came to fix an old Maytag a few months ago and put in a $160. belt and that was covered. I also purchased one year contracts on two rental houses in Arizona, let's hope nothing more than $200 breaks, and I absolutely will not be renewing with them. I have filed a complaint with the Department of Insurance in Sacramento California.

This company is absolutely terrible! Why they claim to be "Consumer Affairs Accredited" makes me wonder about this organization as well. They are scammers, collecting insurance premiums like clockwork, but when it comes to actually paying for repairs, they deny flat out any coverage. Stay away from these crooks. They are in the business to take your money and they very well know that only a certain percentage will create a stink over this, so they refund you your premium or offer some other deal to sole their advantage. Stay away!

I own a pretty decent family home in California. I took on a comprehensive home warranty from Total Home and I was amazed by the coverage I got. Most of every facet of the house is covered in the plan; from plumbing, to repair of my garage doors, built-in electrical appliances like microwaves and several other things. I also had an option to have my extra deep freezer as well. This warranty came in very handy when I had an electrical fault that destroyed my microwave. It is an ideal plan that I would recommend to anyone.

Watch out for a little clause in the agreement, stating 'this agreement does not cover any known or unknown pre-existing conditions,' under which they can practically deny any claim! Typical bait-and-switch outlet, where you seemingly signup for a services at a low (reasonable) price, only to find out that claims are categorically denied. The independent technician sent to our home, diagnosed a replacement instead of a repair. We had to pay $60 for that opinion/ service order - in addition to the insurance premium, only for it to get instantly denied by Total Home Protection adjusters. Customer service (Dispute Resolution Specialists) are rude and incompetent. Stay away for this company and find a better, more reputable service provider.

I was looking online at what other people were saying about Total Home Protection and it seemed more legitimate. I have been with them for two months now and I have filed a claim over the phone. The representative was really good. The recent service I had with them was for my AC not cooling. The contractor came right away, and the AC is running now. Everything was taken care of within a few days. But I’m confused if the people from Total Home knew that we already got service because we keep getting phone calls after from all kinds of different people. They were trying to sell us the program again. Other than that, I would recommend Total Home.

I like Total Home's prices and what was included in the warranty. When I filed a claim with them, everything was excellent. I submitted it over the phone and the rep was great. Then the guy came. I had a modem replaced for my garage door and the work was good. Everything has been working ever since, so I have no problems. I've been with Total Home for four months now and they satisfy my needs. They've been professional too. I would recommend them.

So far so good. I have had home coverage through Total Home for a year now and in the past year needed to use them once. My dishwasher which is or was 3 yrs old at the time was acting up. I submitted a claim and within a few minutes, I was able to schedule an appointment with a contractor to come out the next day. The contractor looked at the damage and diagnosed it as the sub-pump. He set-up a repair date and came back and fixed it, no problems. I was responsible for a small copay. It was well worth it. My dishwasher is working great. It's a great company.

I've filed a claim with Total Home Protection and the phone representative was fine. The technician who came was good and was always on top of it too. He also gave me a few points on how to take care of something else that he thought was going on and showed me how I could fix that. I've had the warranty for about two years now and it's worth the money.

I have had an excellent experience with my home warranty. At first, I was on the fence about purchasing a home warranty but I am so glad I did. About 9 months after purchasing my home, my dishwasher broke. I called customer service and they had a repairman out the next day to fix my dishwasher. This saved me a ton of money, and time because he was right on time. Don't purchase a home without getting a home warranty - you'll really be surprised about how much it covers!

Me and my husband bought a house last year. We had been holding off on the possibility of home ownership because of the additional financial, physical and timely responsibilities of potential repairs. I wanted my own home so I did some aggressive research to find a way to alleviate this stress. I found out about home warranties, and by the time we purchased our home, I was set on purchasing one from Total Home Protection. It made us feel better to know we could just call the customer service line and basically have contractors on call who were ready to work for us. The best part of it was really that all of contractors were thoroughly vetted. This is why getting a home warranty really helped me feel comfortable with buy a home. I have a great plan. If my toilet, pool, or things like my garage door stopping working, I’m totally covered and can get someone to come fix whatever is broken. They are definitely worth it.

Everyone from Total Home Protection has been friendly on the phone when I submit a claim. When my furnace had gone out, I put in a claim and the technician was extremely flexible. He called to set up the time, moved some stuff around and was able to come out that day to fix it. He was very friendly and really professional when he came by as well. However, with the most recent claim that I have, their reps sent over the technician information and when I contacted the contractor, they said Total Home sent way too many claims at once and they weren't able to handle all of them. They rejected mine and Total Home was supposed to call me back, but they never did. So, I lost a day and I had to call them. Now, I’m waiting for a second technician. Still, Total Home has been pretty good. They have reasonable prices too.

I recently purchased a home warranty, and it feels like the best decision I've made in quite awhile. About 2 weeks after I got my home warranty, I had a major plumbing issue that resulted in quite a bit of damage to my floors and walls. Without my home warranty, I would have had to pay for all repairs out of pocket and also find a reputable contractor to come to my house. Total Home sent someone out and got everything fixed quickly and easily. I recommend this company to anyone that's looking around the market.

AHS prices had gone up just enough to prompt me to start taking a look out there. However, knowing what I know now, I would have been at less cost staying with them coming out-of-pocket for the things that have come out-of-pocket for. Things have gone fairly well with Total Home Protection and their responsiveness as far as getting the message out when I need repairs, although it’s only been a couple times.
My biggest concern is having the warranty, as far as covering appliances and stuff, was that I wasn’t aware that there was a cap on how much they cover per part. My refrigerator and microwave got broken and their parts went out. I have Samsung stainless steel appliances in my house. I ended up coming out of pocket for my microwave for almost $200 because Total Home only covers a certain amount for its parts. Something went out on the microwave and it could have been replaced but they refused to replace it because of the chances of it happening again. Therefore, I was only allotted a certain amount for a microwave.
I had no option in saying, “I’ll take the chance of just replacing the part.” Whereas before, I was with AHS and I never had any out-of-pocket cost for anything that went out. After the contract is up, I’ll probably be looking for somebody else only because I don’t want to not be able to have a choice on what I’d like to do with whatever is in my home and the additional cost.

As a new home owner, my home warranty gave me peace of mind. The buying and closing process had already been so stressful, I was actively looking for ways to make the ownership process as seamless as possible. My plan covers repairs for almost everything, including plumbing, HVAC and surprisingly, some appliance repairs. The contractors actually do their due diligence in trying to make repairs rather than just calling in for replacements. I was a little skeptical about the contractors at first because it didn't seem like you could choose your service providers but after using some of Total Home's contractors, I trusted that they were great at hiring contractors. My husband is a handy man, and although he was hesitant about the necessity of the home warranty, he has enjoyed the benefits of having a service on-call to fix things that are a little too beyond repair for him to handle.

I feel so much better now with my home warranty. I am a first time homeowner who takes pride in my home! I thought getting a home warranty was a great option to make sure I keep my home in its best condition, especially because the prior owners did such a terrible job upkeeping it. I was skeptical at first because I thought maybe I could find something cheaper, but after doing some research, Total Home's plan seemed like the best option.
I spoke with someone over the phone about purchasing my plan. He was reasonably honest about its benefits and if it would be fitting for my property. I did not feel pressured, but reassured instead, and at that point, I knew I had to get the Platinum plan. Since becoming a Total Home customer I've enjoyed being able to make repairs to my property without going into debt! My garage door was fixed in a jiffy for minimal cost to me and that built-in microwave that I thought was doomed was fixed. Definitely worth it.

I purchased a home warranty from Total Home for my rental property. I wanted to make sure that I could cover fixes on the property to avoid any delay in renting it out. I recently needed a garage door replaced after it kept malfunctioning. I wasn't sure how bad the damage was, but my tenant needed it fixed right away, as she uses the garage as storage. After THP had a contractor come out to look at it, he reported that my garage door needed to be replaced. He put a temporary fix on it to secure my tenant's belongings. Once the new door was shipped, he came back and quickly installed it. The labor costs for my replacement was completely covered and my claim for reimbursement on my replacement door was processed quickly. I would recommend a warranty for exact situations like this. It could've been such a hassle to have this handled, but it wasn't!

Having a home warranty really comes in handy when repairs need to be done. I purchased homeowners insurance and I thought that was sufficient to cover all types of damage in my home, but I was clearly mistaken. I recently had an emergency situation in which my plumbing was so backed up, it was flooding my house and ruining my carpet. I was very pleased that I was able to call Total Home right away and they displayed such urgency in having someone come out and repair my plumbing system. Once the contractor arrived and assessed the damage, he called THP and they told home that they would cover a major portion of the repair costs. I paid a small amount and my plumbing was completely fixed. Would recommend everyone who owns a home to get a home warranty.

Highly efficient, exceptional customer service and quick assistance whenever needed. My aunt decided that she wanted to come for a visit from North Carolina for an extended stay. She would be here in two days. I panicked slightly because I had not been doing a great job maintaining the guest bathroom in my house. The shower was not functioning well, sputtering water everywhere when it was turned on, and the toilet had a delayed reaction time when flushed.
I called Total Home hoping that they could get someone out to fix up the bathroom, and luckily, they were able to schedule one of their professional contractors for the next day. He was able to fix everything in a matter of hours. He was on time and courteous, and he coordinated everything claims-wise with THP after assessing the damage. I was definitely impressed. I wasn’t sure if I needed a home warranty, but I purchased one on the offhand chance that it would come in handy. The warranty was a God-send because my house needed the roof replaced. In the process of the damage being done to the roof, a few appliances of mine in the attic were also damaged. I wouldn’t have been able to afford to do have any of them plus my roof repaired without the warranty. Total Home sent reliable roofers that beautifully repaired my roof – no more leaks. I was also able to coordinate with them to have someone come out to fix the damaged appliances as well. I would suggest that every homeowner buy a home warranty. I switched to Total Home thinking that I wouldn't have same experience, but I ended up having the same. The recent experience I had wasn’t so well. I had a guy to come out and he was supposed to replace one of the parts on one of my appliances. He told me to call him back and I did but never heard from him ever again. It seems like the contractor's ratings that we get through Total Home are 1, 2 stars. I'm gonna cancel my home warranty 'cause I don’t want it anymore. Angle, a customer service manager and others at TPH are a joke. Three separate service companies, 28 calls to customer service and its managers and a month later still no working AC. Read the reviews and you will see a constant theme of claims denied. My claim started April 16th and involved an AC unit. The first technician diagnosed the problem with the main circuit board stating it was faulty and was not sending power to the blower motor so air would not circulate into the home. OTHERWISE THE UNIT WAS FUNCTIONING AS IT SHOULD. Company 1 had THP ordered a board and it was sent to my home. Company 1 refused to return and install the circuit board due to compensation. A second company was assigned April 26th and never showed up due to the same problem.
Finally a Third company agreed to come out on April 30th and install the new board. The technician did not have the schematics and incorrectly wired the new board causing it to arc and burn out. He paid for a new board and ordered the wiring diagram for the unit from York so he could properly install another board. He spent hours tracing all the wires and found nothing wrong. He then correctly wired and installed another new board, and replaced some other equipment that was damaged due to the first board being wired incorrectly. The system was energized and now nothing worked. He informed me of what had happened and also notified THP.
THP informed me that "the AC Unit lost all of its freon causing the compressor to fail", as well as stating "a short to ground" had occurred and they are not covered under the warranty. THP total ignored that the system was working properly until the main circuit board was IMPROPERLY WIRED AND INSTALLED and that after that the system did not work. I have filed a complaint with the BBB and fully intend to seek legal council after having a Certified AC Technician look at the unit and reach a different conclusion. The customer service managers refuse to help resolve the issues stated above and have and will outright lie about what the technicians on site state to be the issue so THP does not have pay the claim, leaving customers no choice but to request a full refund and letting the legal system handle the rest.

First called Total Home Protection in January. My furnace was not working on the coldest day of the year. It took 2 days for a tech to come, and when he did, he diagnosed the issue and didn’t come back. When I called to let THP know they assigned another in another day. The new technician fixed the problem, but I got a call from them 2 months later that they had still not been paid. They said by the end of the week I would have to pay them directly and seek reimbursement from THP. Finally a week later they paid after several phone calls from me trying to address the issue, and being connected to several different people, each time have to explain the problem again.
Called 3 days ago when my AC stopped working. Three days later, I was told they could not find a technician to come, to call and find my own and get reimbursed. I did this. The technician said that with the unit being 20 years old, and having NORMAL WEAR and TEAR, it needed replaced. THP called me and said they would not replace it due to rust and corrosion, even though the tech told them it was normal given the age of the unit. They are not even reimbursing what I paid to have the service tech come, minus the service call fee. I decided to cancel the policy and the person was extremely rude and condescending, laughing when I asked if I would be reimbursed for the call.
Any metal unit that sits outside all year long will have a certain amount of rust and corrosion, but stating this is not covered is how the company, deceitfully, avoids making good on the policy. Do not use this company! Perhaps not any home warranty company. All three HVAC techs that came to service our appliances have said Home warranties are not worth the paper they’re written on! Save that $40 a month toward paying for repairs when they are needed. We’ve learned this the hard way.

After most of the day with no word, we called and were told there was no notes in our account and that we didn't call them. Of course we got upset about this. Then once we finally did get a technician to come out and look at our furnace/central air .. we were told it is not covered .. really so this was a waste of our money. We feel that we were lied to. This is fraud!!! Plain and simple.

My washing machine was not working. I spoke with a Total Home Protection representative over the phone and he was very nice. He sent somebody to fix it and they could not fix it in the long run. So, I purchased one from Home Depot, which was a little more than I wanted to spend. Then, I sent the claims paperwork to THP along with my receipt for my replacement washer, and they mailed me a reimbursement check within a day or two. Although I had to spend a little more initially, I am happy that I was able to get a better a machine. Total Home Protection took care of it and I was very thankful for their work.
I have had my policy for a while now on both my home and my second property. I've had a very good experience with them. They do what they say they're going to do. I've dealt with other companies that I've really had a horrible experience with. Some of these other companies say they're going to do stuff but there's always some darn issue with whatever it is. I appreciate the fact that THP does not making excuses or make promises that they're going to send someone and never does.

I had my dishwasher for a while now and I knew it would stop working one day. Thankfully, I was well prepared for that day as I purchased a home warranty plan from Total Home Protection. I had heard such great things about them so I had high hopes that everything would go smoothly. I called customer service and they answered promptly and professionally and was able to answer all my questions I had. I told them I need either a repair or replacement on my dishwasher and a contractor came by my house within a day to check out my dishwasher. He thought I would need a replacement and THP was able to cover the cost of a new one, expedite the shipping and have the same contractor return and install it within 2 days. I did not have to shell out any out-of-pocket cash! I am completely satisfied with THP's service. I'm so glad I made the decision to purchase the warranty when I did. Also, I love my new dishwasher!

I'm a first time homeowner and I was used to living in apartments where I'd just report all issues to the super. When I calmed down enough to call Total Home Protection, I was still a little hysterical, but Steve did a good job of calming me down. He quickly scheduled an excellent plumber to repair it. The plumber came at the perfect time. There was very, very minimal damage done to my stuff. And it was covered! Keep up the good work!

Took it out. I Developed a gas leak in my oven, they said it was pre existing. But...couldn’t prove it. They refused to fix it or replace my oven. The gas valve was no longer available. Then they said we will send me a check 133.00 to buy a used one on eBay. Angel the service manager said, “We will get the check to you right away, it won’t take the 30 days it normally does because of the gas leak.” That was 7 weeks ago, still no check so I cancelled the contract and stopped them from charging my credit card again. Total Home Protection do not stand behind their word.

Good if you want to feel like you have protection - but don't expect them to actually pay for anything. Sign up process was smooth. Took my money. Never heard back. Had to call 3 times to get an email with how to file claims or a copy of the plan. No website to file and track claims. Signed up 3 month ago and had 2 claims flied. Both were rejected due bogus interpretation of their own service agreement in direct contradiction to what is written in there: 1. Toilet stop leaking - they said there is corrosion which is why the leak happened and anything corrosion related is not covered. Well - of course there is corrosion after it has been in place for 20 year. Any old plumbing instrument failure can be related to corrosion in some way allowing them to reject all such claims!
2. Water heater turning itself off - Had 2 (!) independent technicians come in and say the gas valve needs replacement and it does not make sense to do it because it is almost the cost of a new water heater. Guess what - REJECTED! They turned into a sediment buildup which is not covered. There is not relation between gas pilot light going off, and sediment inside the tank. Just a way to weasel out! This is after I had to wait 3 weeks for them to find a tech to send out to look at the issues (they commit to 24-48 hours). As I wrote - the name and advertisement makes you believe you are totally protected. The only protection you will get is on the money they took from you - well protected in their bank.

The customer placed a claim for a Water Heater. We assigned a company and were advised by the technician that there was sediment in the unit causing the failure which is not covered under the warranty. The customer got a second opinion technician and the diagnosis was the gas valve, which we reimbursed the customer at our rates.
With the Plumbing claim issue, we were advised by the technician that the angle stops are leaking from the washing machine, they are corroded causing it to leak in the basement. Unfortunately this claim was not covered under the policy as failure from rust/corrosion is excluded in the policy.

My washer broke, had a technician come out. He said motor is out. THP said they will send me a check (which I will have in 30 days) for $300 to help purchase new unit. New washer similar to mine is about $900. When I told him I was told at the time of purchase of the policy that if they can’t repair it (or choose not to), they will replace it. He read me a section in the policy that says they don’t really have to replace anything. They reserve right. My bad for not reading every line; but if you are thinking about getting their policy DON’T. I had a claim last year on a dryer about 30 days after I signed up and the CS rep told me on the phone she didn’t believe me my driver broke right after I bought the policy. That should have been a warning to stay away from them. But I wanted to give them benefit of a doubt.

The first time I requested assistance with a covered repair, I got 3 solid weeks of we are trying to find a tech. After 3 weeks I gave up waiting and found a tech with one phone call, Total Home said if I paid out of my pocket at the time of service, I would get a reimbursement. Within 15 to 30 days, 3 weeks later I was still waiting, when I had a second covered repair needed. I call them and when I was told they had a tech, I was very happy it was the same day, the next day I did not have a tech, so I call them and they lied to me. They told me they had never used that company so they could not use them for me. I had already talked to the tech, and they told me that the reason they were not coming is because they charge a trip fee, and Total Home was not going to pay.
So I called them and told them, so they lied to me again. I was told if I pay upfront I can get it reimbursed, I was already waiting for the last time they promised me they would reimbursement. (It was already 2 weeks) I demanded to speak to someone higher up, they could not do that. So I canceled my account, magically the next day I received a call from someone higher up. That person told me the other person was mistaken when he told me they do not use that company. I said, "No they lied, just like they lied the first time." He spent 3 days trying to let me send out the Tech. I said no at least 10 different times. FYI I am still waiting for the reimbursement from the first fix. (It is now 40 days) and it still has not come, I am also waiting for the money back from when I canceled. They will not give me any idea when it will come.

Mr. Shields placed a claim for a Clothes Dryer on 2/8/2018. Unable to get a technician with availability we offered the customer to go through reimbursement, where the customer would contact their own technician to service the unit. Once authorization was given and we received the reciept, we would send a reimbursement check. We were advised on 2/19/2018 that the customer got his own tech out to the home and the claim was authorized. We received the receipt for reimbursement on 3/8/2018. The customer was advised it would take 15-30 days for the check to process and be received. Another claim was placed on 3/19/2018 for a Plumbing issue, tub and sink were draining slowly. A technician was assigned on 3/20/2018 but there was an issue with the pre set authorization given to the technician so there was a delay in service.
The customer requested to cancel on 3/20/2018 and was given a prorated refund. In an effort to provide good customer service, we offered to reimburse in full which was rejected.

In the meanwhile my heater broke down in the freezing winter, which was obviously covered by the insurance. They spoke to my technician and after listening to the problem they approved him to go ahead, and they asked me to pay him and apply for reimbursement. And now, they are refusing to reimburse me. For the first property a claim was placed on 11/29/2017 for his Heating system not coming on. The diagnosis concluded that the cause of the failure was air in trapped in the oil line at the boiler. The customer was informed, but submitted another claim on 12/20/2017 with the same issue. He was advised at that time that bleeding the line, which is a maintenance issue is not covered under this policy. The customer requested to cancel on 12/26/17 and was refunded accordingly.
The customer submitted a claim for his second property for the Heating system that there was no heat downstairs. The consumer got his own technician out to the home for the issue. We were advised by his technician he had to remove the plenum from the evaporator coil to re install correctly and to close open gaps. He also had to relieve back pressure on the system that was causing it to overheat and cut off the high temp limit. He submitted for reimbursement but the issue was not covered to qualify for reimbursement.
Per our policy these failures are clearly excluded from coverage. Please see the referenced section of the policy below;

I'm an appliance repair business owner. I've been doing repairs through Total Home Protection since the beginning of January. After not receiving payment for almost a month, I called and was told payments were sent after 30 days. Fine. So I continued taking calls from them. After 2 months of seeing no payments, I called again, and discovered they had an invalid mailing address for me. Again, fine. Gave them a valid mailing address. Now it is mid-March. Still haven't seen a payment. C'mon now. I'm trying to give you the benefit of the doubt, but this is getting ridiculous.

STAY AWAY. THEY ARE THE WORST. I had a contract with Total Home Protection as of 7/14/17, I filed a claim on my Tankless hot water heater that is an added coverage that I pay extra for, that started leaking, they sent out one of their contracted plumbers who sent the co. a repair estimate of $1117 and a replace estimate of $2500. The Co. then offered me $500 saying it is a "plumbing issue" which it is not. I said that is not acceptable and was told they would see what they could do about getting more money. When they got back to me they told me they will not pay anything for the claim now because it is not covered because of "rust and corrosion" that is not covered. I talked to the plumber they had come out and he agreed that the corrosion was caused me the leak and not that the corrosion caused the leak.
They still refused to pay the claim but would now pay me $200 to close out the claim and cancel out the contract to get rid of me. They also have a limit for all claims of $1500 but I was told by their salesperson that there is NO limit on what they would pay out to replace or repair a tankless hot water heater and I have him recorded saying so. So as others have seen their salespeople lie and will say anything to get you to buy their worthless protection. The main reason I purchased this contract was for the hot water heater if I know there was a limit of $500 or $1500 I would not have done so.

The problem was with the switch and he had the part in the van with him and fixed it in that first visit. It has been working well ever since. We were with another company before Total Home Protection and they sent a lot of strange people out to our home that I don’t think were bonded or licensed. When we called Total Home Protection again for the air conditioner, I requested for the same technician. We liked him the first time especially after our previous experience with another company. He came out that same day and fixed our claim.
We're happy with Total Home Protection and I recommend them to other people. If things go wrong, we don’t have to stress around trying to find people. Total Home Protection sends people out to fix things and it's a good deal. We pay so much a year and we know what the cost is for the visits. They seem very professional and licensed. They do a good job and come when they say they're coming, and they call right away. I have the same insurance for our other home in California. My review is based on the rude and unprofessional encounter when I wanted to cancel. It is not based on any specific service or claim. Late night on Sunday Feb 11th, I went on a website to get a quote from Total Home Protection. Early morning on Monday Feb 12th, I received a call from Henry ** for a sales offer. The sales call was courteous, and he took the time to answer many questions my wife and I had. Offered a discounted package that costs $3000 for 6 years for two properties under a "realtor program". That was appreciated.
To get the discounted package, at a minimum, put $750 down and pay the remaining balance over 3 payments, and I must sign up for it during the same phone call. As we did not have the time to do the research, we voiced hesitation that it's a lot of money to commit to now. Henry ** said that there's a 30 day period to get a full refund, so we did that, as we can do the research we wanted to after the call and cancel if we don't like what we found. So we paid the $750.
After the call, we begin researching on various websites. Long story short, we quickly found a repeating pattern of similar complaints. We also understand that most people don't leave a review when their experience is positive, so we took all that into consideration, and concluded that the reported troubles are not something we want to waste our future time on based on the negative experiences that many Total Home Protection's customers have.
So after the research, I called Total Home Protection to request to cancel, as it is well within my 30 days, and politely explained why I wished to cancel when they asked. After that, I was automatically transferred to another number without being told, and when connected, it was Henry **. He asked why I wished to cancel, and I gave the same explanation calmly and politely. To be fair, to try to keep me from cancelling, he offered to send someone out to look at my faucet problem (which I described to him during the sales call) right away, which was appreciated. However, he missed the point on why I wanted to cancel, and I continued to reaffirm that I want to cancel. At that point, Henry ** became aggressive, started over talking me, and charged that I "turned from a nice guy this morning to a not so nice guy" and threatened to "inform everyone in the industry so that no one would do business with me".
I have not received any email confirmation that I was charged, though I was charged and have credit card proof, and I did not receive any email confirmation or verbal confirmation by the customer service rep that my refund will be processed. So, in summary, my 1-star review is strictly based on the rude and unprofessional communication from Henry ** when I wanted to cancel. The call was recorded according to Total Home Protection's customer service phone system, so there is evidence of my experience above. I would not have left any review at all if the phone conversation was polite and professional. No product or service is perfect, I get it. In this case, Henry ** lost 35 minutes of his day by talking to me on a phone that resulted in zero net gain, which while unfortunate, is part of the sales job. However, there is no place for intimidation, rudeness, and threats.

I never write any review. Just because I want to help who is looking to have warranty I am writing this time. I been with Home Shield for 10 years with one of my homes and never had problem. This home I was thinking to call same company and add to my policy but Total Home Protection company called me and sold service and salesperson got me for one year with one single payment. You can get your money back in first 30 days but guess what? You are not covered in first 30 days anyway and you dont know how they would treat you. I found out their 30 days no coverage later at the end.
After 40 days of purchase I called them for Cooking range top. Tech came, After an hr call to different persons he said he would have to order parts and left with promise to come back next day. After 3 days when he did not show up I called and he said I need to call company to find out who is going to pay for this repair. Called company and they said, "It is normal wear and tear and we can't do anything about it. If it would been some kinds of damage we would cover but this is normal wear and tear. We cant fix it." I asked the person who said he is claim manager if something goes wrong to my water heater after few days you might deny because would have aging problem too. His response was there is possibility of that.
Long story short they did not cover it and furthermore he said they can deny anything under normal wear and tear and you cant do anything about it. I been with Home Shield company for many years but never had problem single time. Not only this repair I would have to pay out of my pocket. Tech took $45 for service call too. So I lost money from both side.

The first time that I had Total Home Protection come out, they could not fix the microwave. They changed a part in it that didn’t work. And so, the guy who came out to fix it told them that I needed a new microwave because what he was doing to it wasn’t fixing it. Instead of replacing it, they were supposed to send me $100 which I haven't received. My water heater had gone out and they tried to fix it but they couldn’t. They automatically replaced it with one that was comparable to the one that I had or better because it was brand new.
And that’s what I was expecting when my microwave went out. I wanted it to get fixed. It’s special because it’s built-in and has a cabinet around it. It’s really super nice. I had to buy my own microwave and I paid $540 for it. It wasn't replaced but with other insurance companies, it was. Apparently, something in their policy said that if it was more than a certain amount, then they would cut me a check and I would have to purchase my own. I was unhappy with what happened. I called to see if I can speak to a supervisor and he basically told me the same thing. It would’ve been nice if the salesman said something about that at the time of sale. And I would’ve stayed with the previous insurance company that I had.

The THP salesman lied, Period. We eventually got a policy by email. In the fine print it listed certain exclusions we did not become aware of until later. Had we realized this, we would not have purchased the policy to begin with. For example, for water heaters, they cap the benefit at $500 -- nonsense since the cost of replacing a 40 gallon water heater is at least $1500. It also excluded the tank of the water heater... hello? Like it can operate without a water tank? My sad story is that our water heater had a very ordinary defect, that happens fairly frequently in older water heaters--rust and leaking from the tank. They did not cover it of course. We replaced it at our own expense.
But what really angered me, is that they took a whole week in the middle of winter to inform us that the claim was denied. They gave us a vendor to contact --at the limit of the 48 hours allowed in the policy for them to provide an "available" vendor to diagnose the problem. The vendor could not get to us for 3 more days, with a weekend in between. Did I mention this is in the middle of winter in Colorado? By the time they made a determination on the claim, a whole week had gone by. Going to the gym for a hot shower was getting pretty old. During this week, the dishwasher did not run, the clothes washer ran, but only on a cold/cold setting, etc.
Oh, and I gleaned from one customer service representative that they have but a single vendor for this kind of problem in Colorado Springs, a city of 500,000. Should I have read every word in the policy as soon as I received it? Perhaps. But it means we could not rely on any of the information given by their sales representative in their sales pitch. I'll try my luck with AHS next. I have had their services on other properties in the past and had no complaints. I am hoping they still maintain their high standards. PS: I don't blame the vendor, just the insurer.
The customer placed a claim for a Hot Water Heater not heating on 1/24/2018 and was assigned to a technician on 1/25/18. We received a diagnosis that the bottom is rusted out and the tank is leaking on 1/31/2018 which was within the time frame that our policy states. Actually, the townhouse was original built by license contractor and I never change any pipe inside the house. I rent this house to the tenant. I think Total Home Protection tried to make up an excuse and tried to not fix the problem for me. I feel very sorry for this insurance company. If you want to buy insurance from Total Home Protection, you should think carefully that they might not cover the problem for you. I highly do not recommend it. Thanks for reading.
Thank you contacting us with the above referenced complaint. We at Total Home Protection treat each complaint with the utmost respect and use this feedback to better serve our valued customers. Understandably there are two sides to every story and always look for a fair resolution.
The customer requested service for a plumbing issue on 1/9/18 and a technician came out and diagnosed on 1/11/18. The diagnosis was that the upstairs master shower's drain is leaking down into the garage. Someone cut the ABS piping halfway through prior to the tech coming to the home. The technician provided pictures. The customer has the right to get a second opinion and provide a diagnosis for us to review.
This is not a normal wear and tear failure and is excluded from the policy.

I've been having a good experience Total Home Protection so far. I had some roof damage recently and it came down and fried a couple of my TVs since the water got down inside the wall. When I called Total Home Protection, they got a hold of technicians in my area. The contractors came, fixed the problem and then they left. I haven't had more trouble since the repair so that was good. However, I wasn't told upfront that Total Home Protection didn't cover electrical and TVs. They called me to come out to put the new sockets, but I didn't get them to give me some new TVs. I had to buy those on my own so I wasn't pleased with that.

I had a different warranty company serving me when Total Home Protection’s pricing caught my eyes. Their monthly and cost co-payments were lower. I switched to them and recently, I filed a claim because the pilot of my stove wasn’t lighting up. I called Total Home and I was able to speak to someone during working hours. Their reps were doing what they were paid to do and customer service was average. The contractor they sent was excellent and I could tell it was a small business. He was very humble, friendly, and explained the situation. Since the repair, the stove has been doing good. When I need Total Home Protection, they are available right away. But I’ve been trying to call them for the past few days and due to the time that they are open, the call transferred to a third party to handle the call volume, but they could only take messages. That is very inconvenient compared to the other company I had that was available 24/7.

My dryer didn't work one weekend and so I called Total Home Protection. Within a couple of hours, I received a claim number. Not too long after that, I got a phone call from the appliance repair and set up an appointment. The contractor they sent was very knowledgeable. He found the problem and let me look at it. However, he was caught off guard because he needed to take a lot of pictures, something he had never done with any other home warranty. Still he didn't have a problem taking pictures once he diagnosed the problem. Luckily, he had one of the actual part that was bad in his truck and repaired it the same day. And so we were very pleased with the service. Since the repair, the dryer has been working well.

Our refrigerator stopped working and I filed a claim with Total Home Protection. I called their toll-free number and the rep I spoke with was polite, positive, and courteous. When the contractor came out to work on the fridge, there was a problem with the fan and the drain. There were ongoing problems and it hasn’t been resolved yet. Even though the part is here, I’m still waiting for the appliance company to come back and finish the work. My mom has been dealing with them and it has been going on for five weeks.
Total Home Protection did their part and it was just a matter of figuring out what was wrong to get to the bottom of the problem. However, I would have been happy to have the problem resolved more quickly instead of them sending a company that is going to try to do one little thing at a time. It has been tragic not having a refrigerator for a long time, especially over the holidays. I would have liked the company that they contract with to be a little more proactive and to come out and respond to the call.

On December 16th we placed an order to repair our stove; the operator then asked us if there were any other issues that we could submit on this ticket. They sent their contractor out after a week, after we reminded them that no one was sent out. When he came we asked him about the other claims of which he had no idea what we were talking about, we called the warranty company and they said that the operator had placed the claim later on in the week, so we had to pay a separate service charge for the other orders (unfortunately due to their negligence). Now back to the stove; the contractor looked at the stove and immediately told us why did we not call the manufacturer instead of our warranty company. He then went on to look at the stove and told us that the piece is on back order and that it would take about a week to get there. He also told us that in the meantime he would lend us one of his stoves until the piece came in.
We waited a week and he neither had the piece or the stove. We have been back and forth with the Home Warranty company. We called multiple times between "oh there is nothing we can do” to "oh this is horrible we will get to the bottom of this and call you back." We have been tossed around. Now it has been over a month with no part, no service, no stove. Now the stove is getting worse and they don't seem to care. We even asked for a different contractor; they have done nothing to resolve the problem.

I don’t know how they got my information but we spoke on the phone and we came to an agreement of $34 and they will take care of all of my appliances. That was last Friday.
They were supposed to send me a welcoming package in 10 minutes by way of the internet. By today I was supposed to have the contract in front of me and I got 30 days to decline the contract if I want to but I haven’t seen any information. I called up and nobody there was very helpful. I paid $34.50 a month and I haven’t heard from anybody. The first one I spoke to said the claim didn’t go through because it was a plumbing problem. I insisted that it was the water heater. So, I had to recall it again and start all over, which even frustrated me more because when I finally got a live person, she said, "Oh, somebody contacted you," which nobody did.
The contractors that were sent were very professional and really helpful. The issue turned out to be a frozen pipe and one of the vent windows was open. He just closed the window and the pipe opened up not too long after that. Total Home told me that if the issue wasn’t the water heater then I would get a refund on the fee so I’ll have to see.

I bought my first home in September. I found an amazing deal, and decided to go with Total Home Protection. Worst decision I could have made. First, they told me it did not matter if I do my warranty with escrow. It does! We moved in and our AC broke, costing $800. The warranty would have began right away if done through escrow, however, it didn’t start ‘til a month later. Then at the end of October our dishwasher was not draining. The first technician they gave us would not answer my calls or emails. A few hours later they sent me someone new. Then, the home warranty company would not cover it because it was a "pre-existing issue" (some cap was not removed). I got charged $200.
Now our heater is broken. I called in Friday evening and they tried to tell me I could not file the claim because it probably was not working when I moved in. Long story short they decided to take the claim and gave me the info for a technician. Well, I called him and he said he no longer works with them. So I try calling back and sit on hold for 40 minutes. I decide to hang up and try calling in again, but can’t get through because they closed at 7pm. I try another extension. I am then told they cannot help me and I will have to wait to Tuesday to get it fixed. Next technician I called said they do not have my work order and would call back... This company is a scam, and horrible to work with. WHATEVER YOU DO, DO NOT GET A HOME WARRANTY THROUGH TOTAL HOME PROTECTION!!! They do not even deserve one star.

He said when it's time to renew it, I’ll be paying the same price that I paid now and next year for the same thing. It sounded really good. He also told me about the service call which was $48 every time. He was very pleasant and very knowledgeable. Total Home Protection has been nothing but amazing and I'm so glad I found them. I have been with them for a while now. And I wouldn't change my company. Their customer service is impeccable. What's more impressive about this company is when I call them, I wait less than two minutes for a representative to get on the phone -- I've never had that before. Also, when I called them during busy hours, like five in the afternoon or nine in the morning, I had no hold time. Two minutes may be the longest. That to me is everything.
The contractors they have sent out have been great also. In fact, they're automated so the tech doesn't even have to call in. And they do the work right away. I called them for one claim like 10 in the morning. And about two in the afternoon, the technician was calling me, so they can make it that day. Like same day service. It was awesome. It wasn't a big thing. Simply, the dishwasher just stopped and I don't care if they came two days later. But the tech said he has a free appointment and asked if I want to take it. I said absolutely, and he came an hour later and fixed it. Since the repair, everything has been great. They have also repaired a couple of other things for me. Total Home Protection has been awesome that I have actually recommended them to my whole family.

any repairs. Their tactics include not picking up, diverting, stringing you along, long delays, no call backs, bad contractors, creative ways to find loop holes in their own contracts or simply not honoring what their contract stipulates and hoping you will go away.
For everyone that has been scammed by this poor excuse of a business, here are some things you can do to get back at them.
1) file a complaint with the Better Business Burau at https://www.bbb.org/consumer-complaints/file-a-complaint/get-started
2) Call, write the Attorney Generals Office of Pennsylvania (Josh Shapiro) at
https://www.attorneygeneral.gov/
3) Post your experiance on Social Media (Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, etc
4) Call your credit card company and request that they attempt a charge back for non-performance.
5) Tell everyone you know to stay away from Total Home Protection.
Dont just take it and let them scam you. This is what they want and expect. To take people's money with bogus warranty promises and then they use every excuse in the book not to cover what they advertise or what is even stipulated in their contract. Even their own contractors will tell you how this scam works. They think (and are right) that most people will just not bother and go away. That is how they get rich of hard working individuals who put their trust in their scam. Dont let it be you.

I need a home protection for my house but, at the same time, I don't want to pay a lot. I paid for six years one time and it's $1,600. It's good, and also for the long term, since the cost of most of my stuff in my house is new and there's nothing wrong with them. Aside from buying the plan in advance, I also like the application to sign with them for six years. Some people said that if I sign long distance, it is going to be a fraud or this company is going to be closed in two years or my money will go. I didn't think so, because I went to the worksite and I saw that this is a good company. I didn't see anything weird or suspicious. So far, I'm really happy with that.
However, the first time I called, it took 10 days to call again to just put the claim again. It’s really weird because I'm waiting for my disposal being fixed and the lady told me that they’re gonna call me and so will the technician. So, I'm waiting and that means I don't have anything to do. After 10 days, I called again, and they said that there's no claim. The rep just said sorry. I wish that won't happen again. Two days later, Total Home gave me a handyman’s name and I called him but he said that he couldn’t do the work because it sounded like was underneath the house. he didn't go into the house. I called Total Home back and they gave me another name, this time it was a plumber. I called back Total Home and they asked if I was ever told about the reimbursement plan which I wasn't.
They explained to me the plan where I could find myself a plumber and I would have to pay them. But as they were diagnosing the problem, they would have to call Total Home and that was what we did. They said to just fax them a picture of it and send an email. It would take over 30 some days for me to get my money back versus if a plumber would charge me. The problem was fixed but I haven’t gotten any money yet. Also, I am concerned because I emailed them the copy of the bill but no response or anything to that email, so I don’t really know if they got it or if it’s being processed. Few days later I called them again because I had a spark at home and due to this situation everything went out, appliances light bolts and a switch. Then I had a call from the same person: Stacy who asked me for $235 dollars to pay the parts, I told her this was due to the spark, and she said that it was preexisting issue: I called the technician (Rick) and he said it was not a preexisting issue and I was like, "Really... Is this the way you guys operate? This is your own people with an opposite opinion about the same issue."
So I decide to cancel my contract and after 4 hours finally they transfer me over cancellation department which is located in their "restroom." Yes! In the restroom down the toilet if you know what I mean. But when I told them I was recording they just hang up on me. Do not contact this tricky company, they just want your money and then they will wrap you up and then they will set you up. I will never ever recommend this "Company" to anyone if you understand what I am saying. In fact if you feel like me, pick up the phone, call consumer protection bureau, keep records of every single communication, record your calls, write down names, days and times.
This is a piss poor company. Extremely dangerous for your wallet and lifestyle. Managers and supervisors are not professional, and not polite. What they advertise is opposite of their practice. The best way to respond to this kind of companies is through media, BBB, consumer protection bureau and why not through the local newspaper.
If you have WhatsApp, Hangouts or any other, forward your complains to them. Let them know what happened to you. I have 7000 contacts and all of them knows about this poor company. You know what? It will be nice if we can issue a letter to the city of Philadelphia so they can check Chapter 5.56 about revocation of business licenses. We just need 500 signatures.

Submitting a claim to Total Home Protection is an easy process. I just call them and submit a claim. They will usually call a technician within 15 minutes and I get an email within five minutes. It's almost instant. They are super responsive. I would like for them to have a more online presence. If I can go ahead and submit the claim online instead of calling them, I'll be happier.
However, I'm in a pretty tricky scenario right now. I ran into those things that they have under the small print and my issue was not covered. I didn’t know that any claim on appliances or heating that has corrosion is going to be denied. I didn’t read that small print. As a consumer, I'm unhappy that it's not covered. However, from a legal perspective, they have covered themselves with whatever they have written in the contract. One of the reasons I take the insurance to make sure my major expenses are covered. At this point in time, my major expense, which is going to happen for this year, is to replace my heating system. All the claims on that including any temporary maintenance is denied because the technician reported there was some corrosion. I don’t know whether there is anything I can do even if I go to somebody else.
I had a bad experience throughout the whole thing. I submitted the claim a month back. It was on a Monday and they said they’ll come on Thursday. However, it got postponed four times. When they finally showed up, there were three people out there. They looked through it and told me they needed to give the details to the insurance company and that they'll get back to me once they hear back. I waited for a couple of days before I called and told them I'm still waiting to hear from them. That went on for a week until I got frustrated and called Total Home Protection. They told me that the contractors didn't have enough manpower to do the maintenance. The contractors weren't upfront with me. The whole episode took a month. Total Home Protection gave me the option to go through another technician in their list or find somebody myself.
I'm pleased with the new experience. The new process will happen within a couple of follow-ups. I had this tech who came and gave their report at noon. By evening Total Home Protection had a response, even though it was midnight. From that perspective, however, I'm sure the contractor had that info within two days, but he kept saying he's still waiting for the insurance company. Since I had this insurance, I was waiting for these guys to come back. I've had only two claims now. One of them was covered. One was completely denied

I had an email sent to me and I got to the website and put in the information. Then I got a phone call from a gentleman from the Total Home warranty. They were great over the phone and I had already scheduled as far as an offer. The guy had valid answers to a couple of questions I had and it didn’t take a whole lot of convincing because I was looking for something. I've been with Total Home Protection since the first part of this month and for what they were offering me, I can't afford not to have a protection. I've had some repair work done in the recent past and some of it, I've done myself. Being almost 69 years old and going blind, I wouldn't be able to do much more of it myself. So instead of trying to teach my wife to be an electrician and a plumber, it would be easier to have somebody else to do it. The Total Home Protection team was very professional and courteous, and they exhibited concern.

Late Monday afternoon the plumbers showed up but wanted $90 extra to cut a hole in a wall to access the plumbing problem. Cause the warranty doesn’t cover the hole. I said that I would make the hole.
I called the warranty people on Tuesday. Informed them that I had created access to the plumbing. The warranty company said they would contact the provider (TODD COMPANIES). Wednesday afternoon I haven't heard a thing AND I HAVEN'T BEEN ABLE TO USE MY BATHROOM. On Thursday morning I called Total Home Protection 2 times. I have had Total Home Protect for over 23 years on one house or the other. In the beginning I would have rated their company five stars. Although they did send a racist, rude ** guy who behaved totally inappropriate once (witness to this exchange can verify), after I told him not to return to my house they sent an excellent replacement. But, alas, over the years they have slipped terribly in their customer service and their willingness to live up to what I am paying for. About eight years ago was when the decline began.
They tried to deny me a new heating/air conditioning unit. Their own serviceman (nice guy) said the unit could not be safely "fixed" and I could end up dying from carbon monoxide poisoning. After I threatened to take legal action, they replaced it with one of their choice, which I had to have worked on twice in five years (which I paid for out of pocket). Since then, they have gone from bad to worse.
Rather than deal with them, I have been paying for repairs and replacing appliances out of pocket. But recently, my refrigerator needed work and my pockets are not as deep so I tried to make a claim on it (after all I AM paying monthly for their services) but they denied it. I have tried all day to get in touch to cancel my service but, much to my chagrin, my efforts have been in vain. I would not recommend this company to anyone. In fact, I would recommend they run in the opposite direction. Oh, and for those who have raved about dealing with a salesman, I would love to hear from you after you have filed a claim or two or had the (non) service for a while.

I signed up for a Home Warranty with Total Home Protection 8/17/17 and it went into effect 30 days later. I called on 10/5/17 to make a claim for my washing machine. They sent Tarheel Appliance out. I paid my $45 to the tech and he said he'd have to order the parts. On 10/25/17 I received a call from Total Home Protection stating that my claim was denied for Preexisting condition. I called a spoke with a Supervisor is customer service named Jason and he said the $45 is only for a diagnosis and that the tech indicated it was a preexisting condition. He gave me comparisons like you buy a car and it has bumper to bumper warranty but you know that's not true and I explained it's not the same because you are told upfront what the bumper to bumper won't cover.
So then I called Tarheel Appliance and they said they reported it as normal wear and tear. So I called back and got a lady in the escalations dept and told her what the appliance company said and she said, "We determined it was preexisting" so I asked what qualified her to make that decision and that it was their appliance company they sent that says they can't determine that. As a matter of fact when the tech came and looked at my washer we had to turn it on and off before it did anything to show what I'd experienced. She explained it as if I bought a used car and then multiple things broke a month and a half later then I'd feel (feel) as if something was wrong prior to purchasing it and I told her that not the same because if I purchased a used car they always tell you up front that you buy it as-is.
I explained how the sales dept and company misrepresent the product so she then offered me $75 to go away. I then looked up the number to David Johnson, CEO and he said he'd look into the claim and get back with me shortly but never heard back yet. I have filed a complaint with the BBB because if they are gonna make their own assumptions and don't trust what their own technicians say then why use them. It's outrageous. It is now the principle of the point.
I am not dishonest which is basically how I was made to feel. They owe this claim! I will continue to push for what is right and I intend to tell every family member I have that is currently dealing with them to cancel. I have a cousin already that said if they don't fix or replace my washer he will cancel and go with a different company because he had a policy with a different co that paid when his a/c broke so he'll go back with them. I will also post out on Facebook and make sure anyone who knows me knows my experience.

Total Home Protection and its field reps were very deceptive, unprofessional, and unreliable. Sales reps flat out lie to get your business. I have a recording of a sales rep telling me that rust and normal wear and tear is covered, however a couple of months, after I signed up with the company, a customer service representative stated that rust and normal wear and tear are not covered. In essence my claim to have my A/C was denied. I had a home warranty but had to invest in window units and a hotel room due to the fact that I could not afford to pay for a new unit, which I thought would be covered under my home warranty.
A field rep that came to my home stated that the company probably would not replace my unit because they have not "gotten enough money out of me yet". I believe he said this in confidence, however I took that comment very personally. This organization needs to be held accountable for its deceptive, bad faith insurance practices.

I purchased a home warranty from this company effective 4/22/17 to 6/3/18. In June 2017 I had problems with my AC unit, it was not getting cold. I reported this to Total Home Protection. They dispatched a tech form Pacific Air and Heating. The technician put in Freon so I could have some cooling for the meantime but said that the system needed to be replaced. It could not be repaired and he reported that to THP. THP told Pacific Heat and Air to go back out and inspect the ductwork, and the tech did and reported that he did and system needed to be replaced. THP again told the tech to go back out and do a leak test, but the tech refused stating that he did all he could and that the system was not fixable and recommended replacement and reported to me that he will no longer be working with THP because they did not pay him. I called THP and told them that according to their contract, if they could not fix it they are to replace the system.
They looked up replacement cost leading me to believe they were going to stand by their contractual agreement - but only made more excuses. I realized that THP was not going to stand behind their agreement so I canceled my contract. They tried to talk me out of it, hung up on me, argued with me, would not give me information on their corporate office, would not transfer me to a Manager. I called at least 15 times between July 25th and October 2017. I also faxed my cancellation request in writing. I called again on 9/24/17 asking why I did not get my refund of $226.75 - they said they sent the check but would not tell me the check number, the bank it was issued on or when they sent it. They said they would reissue another check and I would get it in 5-7 days. I contacted the Company via their website asking again for my refund on 10/06/17.
On October 9th 2017 someone called stating they were from Retention and to call them back. I am no longer calling I am only responding in writing. I believe they are a fraudulent Company. Although I chose refund, I want two items. First, due to the fact that THP refused to honor their own agreement prior to cancellation, I want my AC replacement cost. Second, I want my prorated refund of $226.75. I ask for both because they not only did not honor their agreement while I was covered, they also have no intentions of giving me my prorated refund. My consumer and civil rights have been violated. I believe this company is fraudulent. I have reported this company to the Federal Trade Commission and the Better Business Bureau in hopes of seeking restitution.

This company is a COMPLETE Joke... I paid $47 and change every month for this warranty. I had 2 appliances stop working during the warranty period. The first was my dishwasher. When I called the company it took a few days to get someone to call back. Then there wasn't a servicer in my area and they wanted me to pay for someone to come in and service. I advised I didn't have the money for that. That's why I purchased the Warranty. Long story short they ended up paying the servicer w/ a company credit card and I was back in business though it took about a week to complete.
When I called regarding my hot water heater it was a Frickin' NIGHTMARE to say the least. Again took 2 days to call me back. I had to contact them. They didn't have a servicer in my area once again and I refused to do the reimbursement situation. OMG did Poo hit the fan? I went back and forth w/ CS and Supervisors. I was lied to twice. Spoke to by CS and Supervisors like a dog while explaining why I couldn't do reimbursement because of being on disability. I was told by a supervisor to stop using the disabled card.
When EVERYTHING was said and done I was out of hot water for 6 days. I finally gave in and decided the ONLY way I was going to get this repaired is if I agree to the reimbursement. I was advised if it was more than $100 the company would have to give permission before anything could be repaired. I called the number they gave me, received a voicemail telling me to leave my info blah blah blah and they would call me back. Meanwhile the servicer is sitting here at $100 an hr doing NOTHING. I called CS and told them this guy is racking up a $100 an hr just sitting here waiting for approval!!! Long story short they weren't going to pay to have it fixed because the servicer advised us to replace it.
After arguing w/ these IDIOTS for 30 minutes or more they finally agreed to pay. He fixed it in 20 minutes and charged us 2 hours for labor because of the crappy way of business this company does. Cost over $300 to fix which is over half of our bi-weekly check which threw ALL of our bills way OFF!!! I was advised I would have reimbursement w/in 10 days... Meanwhile while waiting for my reimbursement I contacted the BBB complaining about the Warranty and the service I received. When I was asked how I wanted to take care of this I advised I wanted my June payment back and I no longer wanted to do business w/ this company. When I called the company after the 10 day period I was told the check had started to be printed but was stopped because I cancelled the Warranty!!! I flipped. I advised I was under Warranty when the appliance broke down that they couldn't hold my reimbursement!!!
The company left me 2 VMs saying they were offering me ALL the payments I gave them for their Warranty & my reimbursement. Via the BBB I agreed to the reimbursement for repair & monthly payments. The company acted like they never said they would give me checks for repair and monthly payments. I sent the BBB the VM the company left me as proof. The company wanted me to choose reimbursement or monthly payments. After months of back and forth re the BBB being the mediator I finally accepted the Repair check. Now that was a month ago and I haven't heard a word.
Tomorrow 10/2 I'll send a message to the BBB re the check. If I don't get this reimbursement check soon I'll be filing a small claims suit and will be asking for $10,000 in punitive damages plus court costs. They have left me no other choice because I REFUSE to allow this company to SCREW me over any longer. FYI this warranty will only cover $500 a year for your appliances. Now get this. The warranty itself is over $600 plus a year. They don't have servicers in your area. I asked the BBB how they can offer a warranty in my state and not have the tools to follow thru? It sounds like FRAUD... BE VERY AWARE OF THIS COMPANY!!!

I never received my updated policy since I could only do the yearly payment for now. I called to go from the $2000.00 policy to the yearly $550.00 and was told that it would be adjusted and updated policy sent out but I have not received anything as of yet.

Have tried 3 times to get things repaired, 1st time they send for air repair service and he left the system with live wires exposed and still broken. Had to hire someone to fix, turned out the company they sent out did not have a license to work in the state. 2nd time was for stove. The controls stopped working. Again they send someone out. I pay my fee, the guy say it's worn out but cannot fix because Total Home says it was not maintain right. How do you maintain the electronic buttons on a stove other than cleaning them.
3rd time paid extra to cover pool filter and pump. Filter needed to be replaced due to age. They sent a company out to do the job, before the company came out he called to see if in fact it would be covered which they told him yes. He comes out. I pay fee. He pulls filter apart, call them say filters are bad. They tell him it's not covered, after being on phone for half hour waiting. Have tried dealing with Total Home and every time I call I get someone else or the last person does not pick up at their number. Says they will call back never do. Service men try calling and get run around every time.

Professional and helpful. Made things clear and easy. Getting home coverage is something I've been thinking of doing so the email was a good reminder and then Nick called and helped get it set up. Thank you for this opportunity.

I am very please with the way Tom helped me. I would recommend my family and friends to him. I am pleased with the coverage and how I was treated. Keep up the good work and great customer service. I like how I was called to check up to see if I could do this and how it all worked out.

Horrible service. We paid them since 2002 and they have never helped. Last year we tried to get them to replace the hot water heater but no one was available for a week! They told me that we would just have to wait so we purchased it our selves. Now in the heat of the summer we are supposed to go 4 days without air conditioning. We have a local service that can fix it today but they won't use them. I will be trying to sue if my pets die. They just take the money and they do not care about their customers. What a ripoff.
