Service Tech, John #**, is the most outstanding tech Slomins has ever sent. There was faulty wiring and a bigger problem than I imagined just to get my outside camera working. John was on time, professional, efficient, and explained in detail everything he had to do to fix the problem. He is "old school" with great work ethics and no attitude. He actually gives the impression that he loves what he's doing. I am going to request him back, by name, if I have another issue in future; for he was, by far, THE BEST.

Slomins is the worst customer service I’ve ever dealt with. The latest window they give for an appointment must start at 2 pm. They do not accommodate working people. They have no late evenings or weekend appointments. The only time they ever have me a weekend appointment was to get me as a customer. I was told at that time they would accommodate a work schedule which they have not. I also have a service contract that covers nothing. Anytime they come up they still charge ridiculous fees even when it was to correct a previous technicians error.

I have been a Slomins customer for many years, and I have never been treated as badly as recently. They have been overcharging Collier County residents by 1% sales tax. The 2024 2025 sales tax in Collier County is 6%, which was confirmed by Collier County and Florida tax website. They rudely informed me I was wrong. They are charging 7% to Collier County residents. I just emailed customer support and see what happens.

This company is a complete rip off. Awful customer service and not worth the 56.99! Unfortunately I am stuck with them for 3 more years!!! I can’t wait to be done with Slomins once and for all! Absolutely the worst company.

I signed up to get a front door camera with Slomins in June 2023. A few weeks later my husband passed away unexpectedly. As a result, I am moving. Called Slomins and they said, "Are you aware you're looking at a $2,000 bill for cancelling a 5-year contract?" After much back and forth that included statements like: "There ain't no one else here you can talk to" and "We all have people die, there ain't nothing I can do about it", "We have elderly people call us all the time who have had losses and we make them pay the cancellation fee, too," and "We'll have the collection agency go after you if you don't pay it" I hung up. Just stay away. Very few companies operate with a level of "customer service" this low.

They are thieves. They took $9450.00 from me to pay for 2 mini splits in my business on May 19, 2025. They took my payment on their iPad and I signed for it. I was told I would have a receipt emailed to me. I never received one. On May 9, 2025 they told me that they can’t do the job because they would need a ladder to install the unit and they don’t do that. They said they would refund my payment. It’s now June 21, 2025 and NO REFUND yet. I’ve called multiple times to hear only excuses. I’ve texted the sales rep that took my payment and no response. I called the sales rep and he would only say that I will get the refund, it just takes time. They took my payment immediately but they can’t refund me after such a long wait. STAY AWAY! They are terrible.

I’ve been trying to cancel my Slomin’s Shield alarm service since May 31st, and the process has been infuriating and unacceptable. Each time I call, I’m told that only the cancellation department can handle it—but I can’t contact them directly. Instead, I’m expected to wait for them to call me, always during standard work hours, when I’m unavailable. I’ve missed multiple calls and have no way to initiate contact myself. Representatives won’t even provide a callback number—just the runaround. This setup feels intentionally difficult and manipulative, making it nearly impossible to cancel. To make it worse, I received a condescending voicemail, as if I’m the one at fault, while I continue getting threatening letters about credit damage. This is how you treat a 15+ year customer?
Slomin’s, your cancellation process is broken, disrespectful, and unethical. I’m not interested in continuing this service, and unless this is resolved immediately, I’ll be escalating to the BBB, CFPB, and state attorney general, and sharing my experience far and wide. Avoid Slomin’s if you value transparency, customer service, or the basic right to cancel your service without being stonewalled.

Don’t let them trap you, run!!! Look for security help elsewhere. Technology is outdated, customer service cannot help! Nothing about this company is about the quality only about the $$$. Supervisor are rude and insulting! Stay far away from doing business with Slomin security company!

The camera is horrible!! It does not record consistently. For example the camera only recorded today at 1:56 p.m. The past few days it records here and there. Also the company does not have a copy of any activity from your camera. They'll tell you, you can retrieve recordings from the cloud but that is useless if there are no recordings. It's also difficult to get someone to assist with the issue by phone. The company is a big disappointment!

My parents had this alarm installed and did not read the fine print. Representative did not point out you cannot cancel the five year contract. My father passed away and my mother went into assisted living. In the past six months, have been preparing the house for sale and it will take me quite some time to have it ready to market. They will not terminate this contract. Do not use this company - you will regret it.

When system was installed they tried to use cardboard as electrical box cover plates. It then took over a month and an act of God to get them to return with the proper materials. I am still fighting with them about a siren but they state that they won't replace it with the proper one. The salesman LUCAS is a complete liar and will ghost you the day after you sign the papers. IF I COULD GIVE -5 STARS I WOULD. STAY AWAY FROM SLOMAN SHIELD.

Bad customer servicer, fail to properly install system and never provided a service to my commercial property in Newark, NJ. Never try to work with me to fix the problem or cancel services, after trying to sell me a product that don't work for my business.

Do yourself a favor, stay away from Slomins! Uses obsolete technology and video camera systems to operate. The video camera human detection system flags everything as "human detected" - rain, animals, dust... And you can never get a live agent in a timely manner. We went with Slomins thinking we'd be dealing with U.S. agents immediately, and that is not the case. Just another foreign call center. I have not had any positive experience with Slomins. The apps are also functionally inept. Regret we're locked in for another 5 years!!!!

Do not let Slomins salesperson talk you through any 5 years contract and expensive to opt you going to regret it. I regret so much talking to a salesperson for slomins. Now they put me in debt. That’s the mistake I made trusted them.

Beware of using Slomins security systems. They tell you one thing on the phone and then it’s totally different when it’s installed. They quote you a price and that price changes at last minute. Managers do not want to speak to you. They are rude. There’s other security companies out there.

I was with Slomins for over 10 years and my alarm system never triggered an alarming situation. Their contract is for 5 years, and they should provide you with the updated equipment for every contract. I had the same keypad for the last 10 years and it broke down a few weeks ago. Slomins does not want to upgrade unless I pay $650. When I requested for assistance, a technician was only available in 7 days. The cost would be $89 for the technician to visit my home. I had no option but to pay that fee. When the technician left, I got an invoice for $0 for the visit with the advice to get a new keypad ($650).
A day after I was billed $128 for the technician's visit, which should have been $89. I contacted their customer service numerous times for the inaccurate amount I was billed. They were not willing to change the amount even though it was communicated to me it would be $89. They were pushing me to sign a new contract in order to provide me with a new keypad, but I was fed up with their inconsistencies. Their customer service is so incompetent and rude. They desperately need to be trained in customer service from the bottom level to top. I ended up cancelling my service with Slomins, paid the amount for the 6 months left on the contract and the amount for the technician's visit. They don't care how loyal you are as a customer; they just want to squeeze every penny out of you.

I was a Slomin's alarm customer for approximately 9 years. Besides having to retrofit some device while I was still in contract and attempting to charge me $90 for it was beyond unconscionable. Then, when I had difficulty with another service of Slomins, their upper management was so rude and insane, that I pulled all of my business, including the alarm, out of Slomins.

Any break or disruption within a home's alarm system means vulnerability. Slomins' suggestion to bypass sensor malfunctions until a service representative can come to your home, & it's days later, is deplorable.

I ended up with Slomins because I had purchased a new home that already had a contract with them before so I took over their contract. To start off I pay for service such as their phone app which is support to give you the ability to arm and disarm from your phone. I’m about two months ago I started having issues with the sensors, and every time I would arm my system. The alarm would go off in the middle of the night and give me heart palpitations, and a fear of panic for my entire family. Constantly having the alarm go off in the middle of the night thinking there’s an intrusion in my home has caused me damage to my health, numerous sleepless nights for me and my family, stress on my pets at home and time off from work only to have people come in from Slomins to replace the sensors but they don’t fix anything.
I’ve had them come in within two months. They came about four times to resolve my issues. Every time I call Slomins and tell them what’s going on nothing is being done. They won’t even compensate a penny. That’s how cheap this company is. They don’t care that you don’t sleep or that you can’t arm the system for over a month. They will not compensate you for their System not working properly! They have a lack of empathy for their clients and zero customer service skills. Today I finally decided to break the contract and pay my remaining dues of $500 just for the sake of me being able to sleep peacefully as I once did before having met Slomins! If you have any issues or concerns, just let you know, they will not help you. No one from their customer service ever helps. Not even the supervisor! So today I say farewell and I’m so happy that I don’t ever have to deal with them ever again! Bye bye crappy service. See ya never.

I had Slomins for the alarm system and it was good. With package theft and break-ins on the rise I decided to get professionally installed doorbell cameras. I previously had Ring cameras that I put up myself. I told the first person that I talked to what I needed. He said - no problem. I wound up getting 2 doorbell cameras and 2 outdoor cameras. There were 3 people that came to adjust the doorbell cameras. Finally the third person told me that the Slomins doorbell cameras will not do what I need them to do. The doorbell cameras show 75% of the sky. They do not show when packages are delivered. When someone rings it, it only shows from their chest to their waist.
I called customer service several times. Twice a supervisor was supposed to call me back but never did. When I finally got a supervisor she told me that it didn't matter that I was lied to about the doorbell cameras and that since they are installed, I am stuck in the 5 year contract. The outdoor cameras do a great job of recording bugs all night. One person even told me I should turn off the notifications at night. This defeats the purpose of having notifications. I want out of the contract because the doorbell cameras are of no use to me. Customer service is a big joke. All they care about is they have my money for 5 more years.

Slomins security systems were installed in two locations of our business. The representative talked up the company and said the company was expanding and was going to have a huge presence in the PA area. He assured us that there was great customer service and techs available to help at any time. Well, soon after installation the troubles started. A few times they just told us to get new batteries for the sensors that weren’t working properly. That worked for one but not the other.
After about 10 months a few of the cameras started going offline then a few months later a few more went out! I believe we have 16 cameras interior & exterior, only half work. This last year we have made many calls to have a tech come out to fix them. They make the appointment and give us a date then at the last minute they cancel the service call. We have to bypass a door when we set the alarm because the sensor doesn’t work. Now with 8 cameras not working and a door sensor not working, we have a very compromised system.
Two weeks ago I called yet again to get this resolved. I finally got someone that was honest enough to tell me no tech will ever show up because they don’t service the Pittsburgh area!!!! I asked her how they could sell a system that cost over 10,000.00 to a business in an area they don’t service. All she could say was she was sorry and Slomins would let us out if the contract early. So basically they sold a faulty system at a premium price and knew we would have no support from the company. Do yourself a favor and invest your money in a company that will back their product and service!

Slomin's applied for a permit that was not needed for a residential installation of an alarm system for $76. I was billed the day I signed up for their monthly service, I was billed the same amount 4 days later because I already had a balance. The balance was a permit fee that is NOT needed in my town for residential service. Now I have to wait and see how long it takes for the township to send the money back and get it credited to my account. My agent who did not inform me of this hidden fee was Jeff. ** is his direct line but I have not been able to reach him about this issue.

It would not allow me to give 0 stars or I would have. I have had this company for 10 years without issue. One payment of $500 was made out of the $675 billed. The remainder $175 was less unpaid accidentally from November and due to this our service was cut off without any knowledge of the past due balance or that service would be cut. We found out when the heat turned off and called to find out why and immediately told them the remainder was accidentally unpaid due to sick kids and covid it had just been an accident, the 1st in 10 years mind you. Yet that didn't matter. The fact that we paid $500 of the $675 billed also meant nothing. We gave the payment that min to a supervisor named Doug who told us we were now active again but we couldn't use our emergency service portion of our contract which is why we have the contract in the first place.
Due to them being to busy that night. Which is breach of contract on their part. We were then told an oil delivery would be made the following day between 8 and 4. The next day at 930 am when checking on the eta I was then told they weren't coming that day. I told many representatives that I have 3 small kids at home including a baby. This too did not matter. All representatives were rude, unprofessional and totally not helpful. I was told multiple times that no one had any way of contacting any driver or any supervisor. How can that be true from a massive company. I was also told by a second supervisor that the first supervisor should have never given us a date of arrival because they have no way of knowing that. Again how could this be possible. Unprofessional, unreliable, disgusting, horrible, deplorable customer service and company. I can not wait to switch to Petro oil who I hear great things about from everyone who has them.

This company is a fraud who preys on elderly people who have no idea about technology and starts billing them without their knowledge or consent. They try to make deliveries when people are not home for heating oil they never ordered and had no idea was even coming. They have been harassing my elderly mother for weeks trying to bill her for an oil delivery and "cancellation fees" even though they don't even serve this area, and she never ordered anything from them. You can't order from this town on their website. I tried it with several addresses, and the entire town comes up as out of their service area. All it takes it asking them for a price- something every other company provides on their websites- and they take your name and email to get the price, and then they sign you up for service you told them you didn't want.
They randomly sent my mother an email that shows a zero balance due and says "no thank you, I'm not ordering at this time"- this email was in her junk mail folder. They hide a "contract" that they themselves type up with her info without the customer knowing it, in the email attachments, where an elderly person who is not tech savvy is unlikely to open it. The email looks like nothing was ordered and it's just spam. But the attachment then has fine print that signs them up for a long-term service contract- the same that the email says no thanks, I don't want it- that you can only cancel my snail mail or telegram within 3 days. By the time the unsuspecting victim gets a bill for hundreds of dollars from them, the customer has either ignored the email or deleted it as spam, because it looks like nothing was ordered.
They are signing people up without permission from them and hiding it in a fake contract and then using that to bill them for services and product they didn't intend to order. When you complain about it, they tell you, "too bad we have a contract" and they tell you they can cancel it now, but you have to pay them even more!! a cancellation fee! They are literally defrauding old people. This company needs to be shut down. They are just no good.

Stay far away! I had Slomins for 7 years in my home in PA. We moved to SC because of job relocation and attempted to discontinue service because there is NO Slomins in SC. We signed up with another company who divides the equipment which is financed $700 and a separate payment for service. Works great! When I discontinued my contract with Slomins after 7 years at $50 a month they said I needed to send them $950.00 which I refused to pay and not one person with Showman's could explain to me what it was for other than you, signed a contract. I have had two letters since that time (6months) and it went from $950 to $2400 and today Aug 5th 2021 $3700 which is now laughable. Stay far away unless you want to be locked into a contract for life.... It's now cheaper to get an attorney which I have done.

We have been with Slomins for almost 2 years. We have their alarm system with a 3 year Contract so we decided to add a cameras. They wanted to charge us 3 to 400 just for 2 cameras, we are moving to different address. I was advise to take the equipment down and take it with me. Upon doing so the representative stated that there would be a one time reinstallation fee of 119.00. Okay but when we called to have the equipment installed the fee turn to 119.00 an hour. How is that and we still have the equipment and still under contract. Stay away from this company. Rip offs. Hidden fees.

I have been a Slomins customer for 7 years and two years ago while moving to my new home I requested a transfer of the service to the new home. The account manager clearly told me that this was not a new contract and seeing we were in the rush with move to a new home, signed us up into a new contract - this after having had an account with Slomins for 5 years at that time. Now when I want to cancel as I am relocating, the company is trying to sneak in a massive early termination fee. Stay away from them as much possible, there could not be a more dishonest experience for a customer that has stayed with the company for so long.

I had Slomins Shields many years ago and was very happy with them. I called them a few weeks ago and they came to my house and were very pleasant but living in an area where we don’t get police protection because it is so safe and I have lived here for 46 years.

We have been with Slomin's for many years. It's an outdated system and if you want an upgrade, you have to pay for everything. Although they are helpful over the phone for issues, they charge now to come to your home unless it's an issue that is on their end. Also, their service is very slow. They will give you a window of time when the technician will come but inevitably, it's after the latest possible time, resulting in my waiting all day for a service call. All this was not true in the past. I'm not sure how reasonable they are compared with others and when I have time, I will research it. Basically, I have a system that is years behind the times but I don't know yet how much it would cost to move over to someone new.

I have been a customer with this company for the last 4 years. I have also expressed multiple times over the years my dissatisfaction with their service and additional hidden fees when you need a repair on their outdated equipment. Do yourself a favor and move with the times. Get a more reliable security system with better technology and cheaper annual monitoring fees. I'd rather pay the "termination" fee today than have Slomins' unreliable protection moving forward. Their app stinks, customer portal stinks, customer service stinks, equipment stinks. The only positive thing I experienced during my time as one of their customers was the pleasant salesmen who conned me into a 5-year contract. Ring, SimpliSafe, Nest. These companies understand the industry and are far more superior when it comes to tech. Do your research before getting stuck in a bogus long-term contract with companies like Slomins.
