I’m having a terrible experience with Sears Home Services. I have a 2.5-year-old Whirlpool microwave/oven wall combo. The microwave started making noise and showing a flashing light near the bottom waveguide. I scheduled a diagnosis appointment that cost $250. One technician came, briefly looked at it, and—without performing any real tests or detailed diagnosis—immediately concluded that the magnetron needed to be replaced. He said it was a two-person job and estimated about $150 for the part and $100 for the second technician, which I initially accepted.

Since then, Sears has scheduled four repair visits. Every single time, only one technician showed up, despite repeatedly stating it was a two-person job. On the latest visit, it was the same technician who did the original “diagnosis,” and he actually asked us to describe the problem again. Shouldn’t there be notes from the first visit—especially when they charged $250 for a diagnostic visit?

The same technician who insisted it was a two-person job then tried to proceed alone, getting his tools ready. I told him I was not comfortable with that, both for his safety and to avoid any damage to the cabinet or floors. He admitted that our case was already flagged in their system as multiple failed repair attempts and said he “couldn’t afford” another failure.

When I reiterated that I only wanted the work done with the proper two-person team, he became frustrated and offered to refund the magnetron part cost and the helper fee instead. He also admitted he wasn’t sure replacing the magnetron would even fix the issue—and if they installed it and it didn’t work, I would not get any refund including the $150 part because it would be considered “used.”

    This raises serious questions:
    • Why are you replacing a major part without any proper testing or diagnosis to confirm it’s defective or that it’s the only issue?
    • Why charge $250 for a “diagnostic” visit when no meaningful diagnosis is actually performed?

    • Why repeatedly schedule a two-person job and send only one technician every time?

Overall, I feel misled, overcharged, and left with an unresolved problem. I would strongly reconsider using Sears Home Services for any future repairs.

I purchased a one year contract with Sears Protect, a Sears Home Service Co for $782.00 in December of 2025. In March of 2026, we were having problems with our washing machine at home in Middlebury, CT. I called Sears for figuring out what's wrong and to provide the agreed upon service for it. The service department representative informed me, after checking with her supervisor, that she was unable to provide the service requested.

When I inquired why not, she informed me that on a previous contract, four years ago, I had requested a service on a washing machine in my office in Waterbury, CT. I could not convince her that that machine at the office had nothing to do with the washer at my home. Consequently I requested my cancellation of my contract and refund of my payment in full for breach of contract and the fact that no services were rendered on the contract. They only agreed to refund my money minus three months service fee. I called my credit card company and informed them of what happened and requested a stop payment on this account which they did.

Unfortunately when the credit card company contact Sears, they sided with them against me and againd re-added the $782.00 fee to my account. I am extremely upset with my credit card company, Bank of America Visa for their unfair decision and for the unfair way I was treated by the Sears warranty company for the way I was treated. Later on I contacted the Sears company and cancelled my contract accepting the deduction for three months of no services provided only to find out that they again charged me a fee for that month after I cancelled my contract. When I called the company they could not find my contract!!!

We had a Samsung washing machine that wouldn't drain. When we opened the drain, nothing came out. Our repairman came, turned on the machine and said we needed a drain motor that would be over $700. He charged me $149 and left. With the water still in the machine, we had to figure out how to get it out. We took a coat hanger to see if it was blocked. There looked like something there and when we pushed the water flooded out. We did two loads and it happened again. We saw something plastic again, bought long pliers and took out a plastic coin that was blocking the drain.

My repairman never looked in the drain to see if anything was wrong. I had actually purchased a new machine after he left, but was lucky enough to cancel it that same evening after we took out the piece of plastic. Had he even looked inside, he would have seen it. I have tried to get my payment back after calling many numbers and getting AI. I finally reached a person and said it would be looked into and never heard back. Still waiting on my refund. Besides not looking at it, he told me I was lucky it lasted this long - it is 8 years old and now running great again - no thanks to him.

Several years ago, I signed up while repairing a washing machine. It ended up the machine could not be repaired. Months later when I attempted to utilize Sears Protect for a refrigerator, I was very disappointed in that although I made an appointment, actually had a phone call from someone about the refrigerator - no one ever showed for the appointment. I cancelled my contract with Sears Protect. Well, let's say I tried.

Every year, I get charged the nearly $850 for my annual fee because I cannot get ahold of anyone to cancel the account. I have to contest the charge on the credit card every year. Phone numbers given either go unanswered or they cannot help me. Address obtained online have letters both regular mail and cerified returned undeliverable. Now three or is it four years later I am still working with my credit card carrier to cancel the payment. Heck, I do not even own the home that is listed on the so called warranty policy I should be getting for the $850. Yep, if they had minus stars, I would give them as many as they allowed.

My gas range has a valve that is not properly sealed and a whiff of gas escapes periodically. I have a Sears contract, I called them. The technician came, identified the problem. He called in then order for the parts, and was told that, that part is no longer available, so Sears warranty would write me a cheque to replace my range. That was April 20th after I made my deductible of $100. On the 4/22 they called and said they found the parts and when it’s received they’ll come and install it.

The parts arrived on the 5/5. I told them, they promised to send a technician on 5/7 between 8-5, I was home all day. No one showed up. I called back when no one showed up, they promised the next day 5/8 between 3-4pm. The tech Will come. They never did. Today is Saturday 5/9. They promised to come between 8-12. No one came. You can’t get to speak to a physical person, it’s all AI recorded. Now they scheduled me for Monday 5/11. I’ve been out of a stove 3 weeks now. If they don’t come on Monday, I’ll call my bank to stop payment on my cheque, and cancel my contract. I would not recommend no one to do business with Sears, they have lost their integrity, you can’t speak to a person, it’s a shame. 🥲🥲🥲

However, that was not the problem, I ordered the motherboard after doing my own research for $55 and installed that myself. The refrigerator now works properly. I can't talk to anyone or find online how to request a refund for the service call that was a waste of $145 and 3 weeks without a refrigerator. Warning - Call a local repair man!! Sears is AWFUL!!

I had to struggle thru bots and AI to get it rescheduled to another 8-5 window 2 of the 3 times and the 3rd time they didn't show I couldn't even get through to them. It took me HOURS to figure out how to find a live person to call to cancel and then they charged me a $25 cancellation (administration) fee. Absolutely no respect for the homeowner's time and certainly did not give us any 'priority' for having a 'membership'.

Apr 16 repair arrived in the morning of the 8-5 time frame. Determined it was the Computer module bad on my Bosch dual fuel stove. We were told we would need to pay for the needed part and the labor to install right then (total slightly less than $800). We paid with credit card. He scheduled the repair for April 23, 8-5 time frame. On April 21, a package was delivered to the house. It was the repair part. This surprised us because we assumed it would be delivered to Sears Home Services. April 22, in the afternoon, we get email a text updates that our appointment for 4/23 would be rescheduled for 4/30 BECAUSE THEY HAD NOT RECEIVED THE PART!!

I immediately began trying to communicate with AI “Samantha” that the part was at my house and to keep the appointment for 4/23. After many attempts of trying to get this understood and being told “no live customer service available “, AI finally said she understood the part was at our house and appt would be 4/30 and would not be there 4/23 as scheduled even though I was telling them this on 4/22…they still canceled the appt on 4/23. Then comes 4/30 and the text updates and tracking indicates the repairman will be there approximately 10, then an update about a delay and would be around noon. Then an update that it looked like would not be there at all, but would let me know by 3 pm for sure. Then at approximately 1:30, update says won’t be here at all (4/30) and gave me 3 choices of Thursdays in May. This entire communication was AI GENERATED.

I did everything possible to convey to AI that I wanted a live agent or an email that was monitored by a live agent. Finally AI told me “we understand your frustration and a you will be connected to a live agent shortly.” That was yesterday and no live agent reached out. AI reached out again by phone and emails with 3 options for May service dates.

I kept saying sooner than May 7 please. I was told May 7 earliest. So it’s 2 weeks and 1 day since I paid almost $800, and no repair and have no idea if I will be put through this same torture in a week on May 7. And of course it is another 8 am - 5 pm time frame and someone must be home waiting. So I will be spending a 3rd Thursday in a row waiting. And all because they delivered the part to me and they did not reach out by any means on 4/22 to see if by chance the part had been delivered to my house. If they had done that OR IF a live agent (not AI) had answered my calls and texts on 4/22 in response to “THE PART IS HERE. DON’T CANCEL!”, my stove just might have been fixed on 4/23.

Assuming I didn’t get the continued “sorry our repair tech is being delayed“ updates like I did yesterday 4/30!!! I would NEVER RECOMMEND this company. It is a Bosch dual fuel stove and our local repair guy was not Bosch certified and unsure he could guarantee what the error code was. He gave me Sears Home Services suggested since he says one of their vans occasionally in our small town. I cannot tell you how frustrating this has been. And AI doesn’t help. They need an option for live person.

On our appointment day, the technicians were a no-show, and after using the telephone-added AI bot to successfully reschedule, we received a notice that the purported available time was not feasible, and to reschedule yet again. All told, we have been without a washer for 3 weeks. It is impossible to reach a live human being (excepting Consumer Affairs). This business model is not sustainable, and I would discourage anyone from using this service. We have learned our lesson and will not purchase any product which utilizes Sears Home Service as a third-party vendor.

I moved from Cinch to Sears because cinch could never find a technician in a reasonable time. Went with sears because the techs are sears employees. And my experience getting a tech to come was much better. But their back end systems and web portal suck. Limited options to talk about your claim; the chat bot only has five categories with canned responses. On my most recent claim it took three calls to get a proper diagnosis. I ended up paying the diag fee twice because their system had no record of the first call. On the third call the tech ordered the required part. Part arrived quickly, but was not the correct part. I knew it when it arrived I can tell the difference between a belt and a pump. This was five days before the scheduled install of the pump so I tried to alert them that the wrong part arrived. Used their portal, thier sms system and the chat bot. There was no way to talk to a human and get this corrected.

I found one of the tech’s personal mobile number in my call logs and reached out to him but he warned me there was little to nothing he could do in their system. Their techs can’t even engage their system on a claim. He was the only human I could get to. The portal even switched my appliance from GE to Whirlpool for no reason. I liked their techs, but thier backend system negates even the best. Gonna buy a new washing machine and drop this contract. Doubt I will ever pay for another home warranty program from anyone.

Sears (aka Cinch) Home Services came out to check my water heater working properly. The technician had no tools other than a cell phone. He looked at it, held the hot water outlet which was warm, and then checked the temperature setting while I was looking for a screw driver to remove the top cover plate. I said top plate because the water heater has two heating elements and one can work while the other does not. I asked if he checked the lower heating element and he told me that there was only one in this unit. The unit is 8 years old and I have physically watched the last repair plumber check both and replaced them because it was not working and they usually fail at about the same time so he replaced both.

This plumber was hired and paid by me because Sears (aka Cinch) Home services could not get a plumber to come out to fix the hot water heater. I had it repaired, paid for it and submitted the bill which we fought about for months before Sears paid me back. I talked to the technician's boss and he told me this guy was a "master" plumber. Then he should know there can be two heating elements and the two cover plates on the front of the heater would have been a clue. So he reported the water heater was functioning mechanically so nothing was wrong.

A water heater with a bad top heating element just does not get the water hot enough while a bad lower heating element just runs out of hot water much faster than normal. Also, if you let a water heater sit unused for hours, you will get hot water for a short time because it rises to the top of the water tank. So Sears decided my water heater was working fine mechanically. I am sure I will have to hire my own plumber to check it out and fix what is broken - which reflects the way that Sears (aka Cinch) Home Services works.

I purchased an LG washer and dryer from Sears about 10 years ago and have maintained a Maintenance Protection Agreement on both appliances since the day I bought them. I also schedule the recommended annual preventive maintenance every year to keep the machines in good working condition. In February of this year, I began noticing water occasionally appearing in the washer even when it wasn’t running, though the machine was otherwise operable. I called for service on February 22 and was given an appointment for March 6, 2026. That appointment was rescheduled twice without any notification — I only discovered the changes when I called the repair number to check the status.

A technician finally arrived on March 14, diagnosed a faulty valve, and ordered a part with the expectation that installation would occur on March 18. A different technician arrived that day, installed the part, and said the machine was repaired. However, within one hour of trying to do a load of laundry, the washer would not fill with water and would not agitate. The repair made the machine completely inoperable.

I called immediately and was told a technician would come the next day, March 19. That tech arrived, retrieved an error code, and appeared unsure of the issue — repeatedly consulting a handheld device. He eventually said another part was needed and that it would be installed on April 1. The part arrived on March 20.

Then on March 28, I received an email asking about the status of the part — only to discover, when I called, that I had no open repair order and no appointment scheduled at all. They rescheduled me for March 30, between 8–5, so I took off work. After waiting all day, I received an email at 4:30 pm stating the repair had been rescheduled to March 31.

On March 31, I again waited the entire day while receiving multiple changing “estimated arrival” emails. At 5 pm I checked my email and saw that it claimed I had requested a reschedule to April 6 — something I absolutely did not do. I contacted the scheduling system and, after expressing frustration to the AI agent, was finally given an appointment for April 1 from 8–5.

Throughout this entire process, there has been no reliable way to speak to a human being. No customer service phone number, no direct email, and nearly every point of contact routes to an AI system with no ability to escalate. I eventually found an online chat on the Sears Home Services website, where I was told my issue would be “escalated” and that I would “definitely” see a tech on April 1 — though at this point I have no confidence in that promise. I have now been without a washer for weeks, have taken time off work for appointments where no one showed up, and still have no clear communication or resolution. Meanwhile, I continue to receive calls from Sears offering to provide maintenance on all my appliances and home services. This experience has been unacceptable, and the lack of human customer service or reliable scheduling has made an already stressful situation far worse.

While it seemed that the technician knew what he was doing, the repair didn't last. Our refrigerator and freezer units failed again within days ruining hundreds of dollars worth of food yet again. We tried to schedule another visit and it was cancelled saying that our address was incorrect. The AI is a joke. We are going to try one more time and then contact a lawyer.

Of course there’s no phone number to speak to anyone. I’m not even gonna bother to cancel. Just let them show up (if they do) and tell them “you’re 4 days late. The window they give us 8am - 5pm, so essentially your entire workday waiting. Tech texts about 2:30 p and says they are running behind and should be there about 3:30p. Never shows up! I text multiple times, no reply. Then I get a text from Sears saying they have completed service and submit my review. Huh? Different tech came to install and immediately noticed the wheels were broken and the groove in the drum. He told us he would install the belt today and be back once the other parts the 1st tech missed were shipped. We called several times but Sears Home Services had an AI only system. We finally had to schedule a tech for a new visit and they want to charge us to diagnose and repair again. The tech also left the felt outside in his rush to put it back. We learned recently that he left Sears and did not order the parts.

I called several Sears #s and after a few hours and transfers, they told us, it’s now past the 30 day warranty and there is nothing they can do. The techs also have an AI system they have to call instead of direct interaction with a supervisor for assistance. Awful experience. Lesson learned, use local tech services and bypass Sears whenever possible.

I immediately had issues with the dryer after delivery. It would not start and in five months. I had eight service calls and Sears would not replace my dryer, I had a Sears store near me so I went to the salesman and he had it replaced but then the store went out of business, then my washer quit and I had the same problem with Sears warranty, each person I spoke to gave me a different excuse as to why they would not replace it or fix it.

This went on for over a year and by now the washer is three years old, I finally cancelled my warranty and bought a new washer, I did have someone else besides Sears look at it and I was told that it was the motor or drive shaft? was out, Sears had told me that they had replaced this twice? Just prior to a long weekend out of town my dryer stopped heating. Sears Home Services were able to come out quickly after my return home. It was simple and easy to schedule an appt online. The day of the appt, the tech was late, past the service window. This was only an inconvenience of leaving work early when it wasn't needed. Tech was great. Was able to diagnose the issue and provide a clear explanation. Was able to offer a repair 3 days later. Thrilled with a quick turn around, I opted for the repair and paid all costs at that time. The day before the repair, I get an automated email that it's been rescheduled for 6 days later. I'm annoyed, I need to do laundry and have consistency in my work schedule, but also understand that it was a fast turnaround, so maybe the part wasn't in yet. The day before the 2nd scheduled repair, I get another automated email rescheduling another 6 days out. I'm now frustrated.

The website provides no help. The number on the website is only AI and directs you back to the website. I reached out to the tech who had called / texted on the original appt. He has been the only positive in working with Sears. He has tried to help, tried to get updates, tried to get the repair moving forward and communicated with me. Today, the day before the 3rd scheduled repair, I get another automated email update pushing it out another 6 days, putting me at nearly 1 month from the initial issue. Still unable to actually talk to anyone other than my service tech, I've cancelled. I expect a refund to issued and issued timely, but based on my experience so far, I feel that will not be the case and I'll be escalating the matter further.

I had no idea it was broken and he was living on pb sandwiches. They missed two appointments. One because a part wasn’t in. Another because they ran out of time. The repairmen work their way toward you sometimes from very far away as independent contractors.

Meanwhile my dad ended up in the hospital and has since died. I made another appointment for him and the service call had been closed out, so the guy got the wrong information about the call and was still missing a part and not enough time to repair anyway! I have the part supposedly coming this Wednesday and a two hour repair between 8-5 on Thursday- fingers crossed. The annual price is outrageous and they claim to have all of these benefits, but fail to mention there’s a deductible for EVERY repair call and the “free” HVAC tune-ups are only available for a limited time each year. Their repair windows also change from when you schedule to when they send confirmation.

My washer needed repair so a tech came out. When he was testing to see if there was power to the circuit board, his meter leads touched and he blew the whole board (which was fine previously). He identified other issues, said it was going to be an expensive repair and he has to call his supervisor. The supervisor said they won’t cover it because we couldn’t find the serial # even though I bought the machine directly from Sears. The tech said to call customer service and left. I called 4 different numbers and they are all AI agents. You can’t talk to anyone. There’s no alternative number, no email, only chat bots and agents with limited options. Then they had the nerve to charge me a $100 deductible on top of the $877 cost of the “warranty”! This is nothing but an expensive scam. DO NOT get suckered into buying it.

Sears Home Services broke me. I’m not being dramatic — they literally made me cry. We needed a basic dryer repair through our home warranty. Instead, Sears turned it into a month-long nightmare while I’ve been caring for a three-month-old baby and trying to keep up with laundry for a blue-collar husband coming home in filthy work clothes — with NO dryer. That includes dealing with constant baby blowouts, washing clothes, towels, and blankets around the clock, and then being forced to put my infant in crusty, air-dried clothes because Sears couldn’t get their act together. I contacted Sears at least two to three times every single week — sometimes more — desperately trying to move this along. They shipped parts to the wrong address, even though I updated the address before shipping. One agent confirmed it was fixed. The next agent said they can’t update addresses and told me to contact Speed Queen.

Speed Queen already had the correct address. Back to Sears. Over and over. Same loop. Same lies. After two weeks of waiting, the parts were finally reordered and were delivered TODAY to our correct address — yet Sears still claimed the technician did not have the correct address. How is it possible for parts to arrive at the correct address, but the technician somehow can’t find it? I confirmed our address with every single person I spoke to. Eleven Sears agents. Eight Speed Queen agents. Nineteen people and not one competent resolution. For the most recent appointment attempt today, I even put our correct address in the special notes section to make absolutely sure there was no confusion. They ignored it completely. On the day of my confirmed appointment, Sears told me I didn’t have an appointment, then said I did, then said the technician didn’t have the address, and then said it was my responsibility to fix it.

All of this happened through chat only, because Sears doesn’t even give customers the dignity of speaking to a human voice. Then — without my consent — Sears rescheduled my appointment THREE WEEKS OUT, despite earlier openings being available. No one called me. If they did, no voicemail was left. I had one missed call — when I called it back, it played hold music forever, with no indication of who was calling or how to reach an actual person. Only today, after all of this, I finally got a phone number for someone at Sears through chat. I texted the number to my husband immediately because we had to reach out yet again, while I stood there crying, holding my crying baby, after receiving the text message notifying me that my appointment had been rescheduled out to 03/19. The tears started coming the moment I read it.

I was escalated four times. No one ever followed up. No one ever called. No one ever took ownership. At this point, you are better off paying out of pocket to have your appliance repaired than using Sears Home Services through a warranty. The “coverage” is meaningless when it costs you weeks of stress, exhaustion, and emotional distress.

This company is disorganized, dishonest, and utterly heartless. Their systems are broken. Their agents contradict each other constantly. Customers have zero control, zero transparency, and zero support. If you’re a parent, a working family, or anyone who actually depends on functioning appliances — run far away from Sears Home Services. This wasn’t just bad service. It was emotionally draining, disrespectful, and unacceptable. I will never use this company again, and I wouldn’t wish this experience on anyone.

The repair company that has come out and is trying to get authorization from cinch to order the additional part to fix the washer is also not getting any communication from cinch to approve the new part and continue the repair. Cinch home warranty is the worst and it's definitely not worth the money and they do not standby the products nor the repairs.

Furthermore - with their automated system - it's impossible to reach this team directly. The agents entering or reviewing the case always give the promise of getting an email in 3-4 days, and I NEVER got an email. Communication Breakdown: Customers report being transferred repeatedly, speaking with reps who can't help, and getting generic or AI-generated email responses, with supervisors rarely available.

Repair Delays & Parts: Ordering parts can take weeks or months, with inaccurate delivery estimates, prolonging appliance downtime.

We have been without a refrigerator since November. We had to buy a small garage fridge to hold us off. What you read about them on line is absolutely true. Our refrigerator is only 3 years old it came with the package when we built our new home. It just stop cooling, we had to give several of our neighbors our food so it wouldn’t spoil. There was no weekend emergency no.

We had a friend from out of town who used to do this kind of work tell us to look in the back and feel if it was hot. It was and he told us to unplug immediately because the new refrigerant that they use now is highly flammable. Thank goodness he helped us stop a potential fire. Sears finally comes out 2 weeks later and informed us it was the compressor and under GE and not warranty co.

Ok GE fixes it and a week later it was broken but now it was something else. Sears comes another couple of weeks and the guy looks at everything and says it’s the evaporator coils and can’t be fixed and it’s because it’s coming from the compressor. He tells us to refuse the parts because it’s not fixable, and that they would recommend replacement. He also recommended looking for one that doesn’t use refrigerant using 600. My husband then called the GE guy that Put in compressor and he says that the young guys are afraid to work with refrigerators with the 600 coolant because it’s flammable.

We call the warranty company on Monday and they have no record of what the tech said, they tell us no it has to be fixed! Now they have to order parts and wait until there’s a technician available. We finally get an appointment and it was scheduled for 8-5 on a Tuesday, updates via app were posted saying when to expect tech. By 6:30 it says you’re next by 8:00 pm no show.

We call next day try to reschedule and we get AI appointment from 12-5 but we’re not getting any updates. We call and get some a guy named Skyler who says there’s no appointment showing and did I mention we also had a part in our dishwasher that was scheduled to be replaced we got the part and the appointment for that a couple of weeks before. That was canceled because they didn’t have a technician in our area. He said he didn’t see the appointment made by AI and there wasn’t anything he could do. He said he could reschedule for the next day both services and by that time we were frustrated that communication between technicians and customers were non existent.

Skyler became unprofessional and decided to play a game and say that his applications just went down he got the dishwasher on the schedule but not the fridge. The dishwasher was working it just needed a small part! We needed the refrigerator desperately. My husband lost his job with the government and has been out of work for 7 months. We have wonderful friends giving us gift cards for groceries. We are not able to take advantage of any sale items we could freeze because they have not followed through. I would never want to deal with them again. So unprofessional, unreliable and lazy. Not one person there went above and beyond to help us. Sears has lost it’s valuable name, it was at one time considered a company you could trust.

I have read so many reviews that align with our experience with this company. If one star was an option I would select it! We simply had a suds code occasionally on our almost brand new whirlpool washer and reached out to Sears Home Improvement unfortunately to speak to Samantha their AI assistant. We got an 8 hour window for our diagnostic appointment and received a quote of 139 for that service. Upon arrival our service technician Scott diagnosed the issue with confidence and gave an updated estimate while confirming multiple times a total quote of 410 including the full diagnostic fee being applied to that leaving a remaining 270 and some change for the service when the part that conveniently had to be ordered came in.

I asked several times if I could get some time to speak with my significant other who works nights about scheduling and pricing but call back just to schedule the service. He confirmed that would be totally fine and collected payment before leaving. When we called back to schedule with “Samantha” the AI robot we were mistakenly scheduled for the same diagnostic service we had already received and after begging to be escalated to a live representative continued going around and around with the robot personnel. The next technician came out and also “diagnosed” we ended paying over 360 for that service because he assured us the part we needed and labor needed to be paid for in advance.

A final tech came out and ripped our washing machine apart finding yet another issue and struggling to take the components apart for hours. He explained that yet another part would be needed to solve the original issue and labor for that would need to be paid as well. When we explained that the original tech gave us an estimate in which we had already overpaid for and none of the diagnostic had gone towards yet, not to mention what he priced us out for that day we were told “he told you wrong.” I asked “what do I do with that and was referred to a multitude of automated service numbers and people who continually threw their hands up when I asked we be refunded since no work had been done no parts had been installed and our washer was left in pieces now unusable.

I cannot explain the frustration, grief and financial strain this company has caused especially around the holidays. All I have asked for is to speak with a human being so I can explain our situation and seek resolution, the final technician was very sympathetic and said we would receive a partial refund check in the mail (who knows?!) We will be making a report to the BBB but based on other reviews I can see that also being another dead end. Shame on Sears!!!! Will never recommend their services and will ensure they never could potentially do any repair work on our future appliances.

Our Thor cooktop - purchased at Lowe's March 2025 - had a few 'teething problems' from the word go, such as the unit not powering on after several attempts for a few minutes, and the largest burner simply not turning on a few times. May that zone stopped working altogether and the powering-up issue got worse. We had to reset our breakers a few times a week in order to get the unit to work (electrician checked - we definitely had enough power to handle this cooktop). Set up an appointment through their app and when a technician finally came by a few weeks later, he said "Just keep resetting the breakers". I told him that was an unacceptable solution (which it is). He reluctantly ordered a heating element for the non-working zone and said he'd be back in a couple of weeks. Of course it took ages as he was fired and SHS decided one instead of three techs for our region of the country was fine.

The next tech, a month later, said that part wasn't the problem - that the whole board needed to be replaced. So he said he'd order that. He came by a month later, according to this appointment he made (which was a reschedule - he got too busy, I guess), and of course the part wasn't there as he'd not ordered it after all, and had actually forgotten our issue until he arrived at our house. He finally ordered the part, but after some emailing Thor back and forth, I discovered the part wouldn't arrive until around January 2026!!

Two more appointments were made and cancelled by SHS, without explanation, the latest to be Dec 1 (today!). I wrote an email last week asking why this latest cancellation occurred, and they are yet to get back to me. Now none of the zones work fully - they all only heat up on one half. That is if I can get the unit to turn on at all. I am going through the holiday season with an unreliable cooktop, and this is the NINTH month of this debacle. Why is Transformco, Sears and Sears Home Services parent company, allowing this to happen? I have tried their corporate number and of course that gives you options that have malfunctioning IVRs. Absolutely terrible service by all departments. And to think Sears used to be the epitome of a good department store.

For a washer repair I waited for four months to have a working appliance again meanwhile paying on their plan! I had to do my laundry at the laundromat without any reimbursement for that cost or gas to get there. The technician appointments were three to four weeks out at a time with no consideration for your inconvenience.

When I finally got a replacement, no one wanted to install it or remove the old one! I have made countless calls, switched from department to department with no end in sight!! They are a joke! Unprofessional and unacceptable service!!!! I will be cancelling them upon next renewal. Disgusting!! I should’ve been refunded for my contract payments during that four months I went without!

Sears Home Services was assigned a washer repair by my father's warranty company, American Home Shield. They came out on 10/31 to diagnose the issue, decided the motor needed to be replaced. On 11/4 they replaced the motor and a switch on the washer door. Two weeks later the washer failed again. They returned on 11/17. The diagnosis was they needed to replace another part. They ordered the part and came for the repair on 11/21. We attempted to use the washer after the repair; when we checked on it 10 minutes into the wash, there was water overflowing out of it. Whatever "repair" the tech made was not done correctly or not fully tested to ensure the washer was functioning properly.

When you call the company to report the issue- insufficient repair, water flooded basement utility room- it is impossible to speak to a human. This is not a company that I would recommend to anyone that wants knowledgeable, effective, and complete resolution of their issues, and the ability to get immediate support when their repair not only doesn't work but also causes a significant issue in the home.

The negative things others have input about Sears Home services, on variou platforms, are all true; e.g., it is not possible to speak with a human, and even their Chatbot is useless, only offering their own 4 or 5 options, with zero 'other' option. I thought they were professional, personable and relaiable. No more. They are a joke, and you will most likely be burned ... In my case, uploaded the Whirlpool cooktop stove model number to the service request online, as a required part of it. When the technician came, the ONLY thing he did was to look at the model no. again (exactly what I had uploaded a week+ earlier), and tell me that parts were no longer available for that model, and that 90% chance that repairing it would require those parts. He then left, billed me the $129, and that was it. They are now the WORST. Period.

I have PAID for a Maintenance Agreement with Sears Home Services from the 90’s. The present Agreement expires 2028. This summer my 1996 Hot Water Tank originally purchased from Sears bursted from rusting. I called Sears for service. Sears was unable to send a Technician right away. We endured two weeks without running hot water.

After several calls pushing to get a Tech. Sears told me to hire my own due to the lack of service assistants & I would be reimbursed. I did so & sent them the bill & evaluation they need to install a new Tank. I had to stay on Sears Services to get someone to get to my home to evaluate what I paid the Tech to evaluate which cost me $265.00 & I have an existing Service Agreement. Still out of HOT water for the whole house to bathe. In my home I have children & elderly family members I kept calling Sears! Eventually I informed them I will be using the licensed Technician who evaluated the Tank stated I need a replacement, to replace the 50 gallon Tank that was bursted on the top & bottom which also flooded my basement.

I sent the bill to Sears prior to the job, no response. I waited weeks for Sears to get the matter resolved. We have to bathe to go to work, etc. I had no alternative but to call back the Technician to get the job done! I sent the bill to Sears $2,330 for labor, purchase of a new Tank & installation. They refused to reimburse me the full amount stating they are the only one that can approve the Tank replacement under the Service Contract I have been paying for, for years! I am disappointed & disgusted because Sears Services could not get the job done, we would have to wait literally a month after going through their process!!! I have sent emails regarding my full reimbursement & Sears Services refuse to respond to my questions!!

I plan to do away with their Service Agreement. Sears Services has failed not just in this example. Every time you schedule appointments for Service they do not show up! They take months after months to get parts to be delivered coming to a Service appointments unnecessarily. The quality service they did back in the 90’s does not exist today! Sears still owes me $600 plus! What is the use of having Service Contracts? People seek other Service Contracts.

This review concerns a standalone Sears Home Services repair appointment, not a warranty plan. Sears took full payment for a dryer repair they never completed. They missed two scheduled appointments without any notice or communication, then refused to reschedule promptly. After the second no-show, I called to request an earlier date, but the earliest slot offered was days later. At that point, I requested a refund. Sears required me to return an unused part at my own expense before issuing only a partial refund. Their own website clearly states: “If you proceed with the recommended repair, the diagnostic fee will be waived.” We authorized and paid in full for the repair, but Sears failed to complete it. Despite this, they kept the $129 diagnostic fee and refused to refund it—even after I cited their own policy.

I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and again cited their own written policy, but Sears once again ignored their stated policy and insisted the fee was non-refundable. I ultimately filed a credit card dispute and won. This was the worst customer-service experience I have ever had—missed appointments, no accountability, and a total refusal to follow their own written policy. Avoid Sears Home Services completely.

They came out and they tried to collect $129 from us for diagnostic however we refused to pay that fee because it was under warranty that we purchased.

The technician stated that the compressor needs to be replaced and would order the part and be back next week, which is November 4. There was a no-show. From my understanding they have rescheduled the appointment for sometime in December as a diagnostic appointment and wish to charge again $129. I have also done some research only to find out that the Sears repair warranty has been transferred to Transformco company and from what I understand, many people have had tremendous problems without being able to get repairs. I have been paying for this service monthly since 2021. When you file a claim, there is a fee (currently $100) in addition to the monthly fees. I have come to realize that parts can be replaced, over and over again, while the issue persists. In my case, my washing machine wo stop working and there will be two error codes that show on the display. The technician would come, order parts and then after a week or two, the parts arrive and another technician would come to install the parts. Unfortunately, the problem persisted causing me to have to go to the laundromat to wash my clothes. When the technician came out again due to the machine still not working and displaying the same codes after four parts were replaced, I was told that more parts needed to be ordered. More waiting and wondering if when these new parts are installed, the washing machine will finally work.

When I asked the technician about when there would potentially be a credit issued for me to purchase a new machine since just about every part on it has been replaced already, he indicated this would likely never happen. Sears will continue to have the technician order parts and replace them, even parts that have already replaced! I realized that this service is all about collecting the monthly fee and dragging things out so that they recoup their costs and then some. This service may be worth it if your appliance was fixed once and for all, but this is not what has happened in my case. This company uses the Sears name, but there is zero customer service and zero accountability. The Sears brand may fool people into thinking that this is the Sears of old that provides value, but the name has absolutely no value at this point in time.

Their website purposely hides links to your warranty, hoping that you schedule for "regular service" out of pocket so that you don't get any benefits from the home warranty you may have paid for multiple years in a row. It was always hard to get any actual service, but was doable if you spoke with multiple call center folks directly to actually get an order synced up and pushed through the system. Now even that garbage "feature" is gone. All client communications are "AI." The "AI" features that they have running the text chat AND the phone center are incapable of even basic support operations.

One week my name and address easily looked up my warranty. The next week there's "no active warranty" even though we've been paying through the nose for premium coverage. They have the audacity to set up the "AI agent" to ask why you are requesting a human contact, and then, after you've wasted your time elaborating on why the algorithm can't help you and hasn't helped you on multiple previous attempts, they tell you they're an "all AI" service with no human agents now. We are truly living in a nightmare future. My family had 40+ years of dealings with Sears, and had their own warranty for 15+ years. I'm a new homeowner customer who has been wrestling with this service for the last 3 years or so. We are all leaving this service and will never do business with Sears or any related company again.

They said, "That's not proof. You could have just made it up." Sears should research their records instead accusing me of not paying. The job would never have been started if I didn't pay. It's home warranty policy. I am a 79-year-old disabled veteran and I think they are trying to take advantage of the old. We are a target these days. They won't call the home warranty company because the company will ask why they did the job without getting payment from the customer up front, which by the way, the warranty company already paid them for.

Then he was suppose to show up a week and a half later, waited all day to get a call at 4: 15 p.m. saying he couldn't make it and would come two days later. Have already paid for one service call that he never even showed up for. Just Absolutely terrible service. Customer service is poor. Tried to talk to a supervisor to be told he wasn't available. I called the service number and informed them that I was going to cancel my coverage. The person I was talking to, told me that they were going to honor my coverage and replace my range. This was October 3, 2025. He said if I don't receive the email with the confirmation and instructions on how to replace my range in 3 days, call back.

It was sent directly to me in an Amazon Prime envelope. When I requested a price adjustment for the overcharge, I was told their pricing is "accurate" and "aligns with their standard procedures". My service tech Tim, is awesome. He diagnosed the issue with my Electrolux dryer. We discussed the previous service that was performed and concluded the replaced parts were not the cause of the noise. I explained to him that I had been complaining since the first year we owned it. The previous techs said the noise was not an issue and basically kicked the complaint down the road until the noise was so bad they decided to replace some parts. By this time, it was out of warranty, and I had to pay nearly $500 parts and labor. When the tech turned it on after replacing the parts, I told him the noise was still there and actually worse. He told me they all sound that way. I disagreed. He left. Over the next 2.5 months, the noise got worse.

When I called to try to speak to a customer service representative, the AI system would not let me speak to a real person, so I scheduled my appointment. When Tim arrived, he agreed the noise was not normal. He looked up the cost for the parts that are needed to actually repair the dryer. The repair will cost $800. He tried to contact someone at corporate to see if there is some sort of price reduction available for me since I had just spent $500 and the problem was still presenting. He made several calls and kept getting the AI attendant. He was finally able to talk to a supervisor. He explained the situation and the supervisor told him since the previous repair was over 30 days ago, he couldn’t (wouldn’t) do anything.

Sears sent me a link to rate my tech. I gave Tim a great review and added additional notes explaining my dissatisfaction with the corporate response. I pressed send and got a message “woops something went wrong”. I’ve tried searching for a phone number to talk to an actual person. Apparently, there is no such number.

So, I must resort to giving a review. Sears Home Services does not care about their customers, are not willing to resolve a misdiagnosed problem, have no way to actually speak to someone, and are unwilling to do the right and moral thing for a customer that spent $2600.00 for a top-of-the-line Electrolux washer and dryer set. Do NOT contact Sears Repair Services for ANY repair. Do NOT purchase any extended warranty of any kind from Sears Repair Services. Call your LOCAL appliance repair company. I will be forwarding this review to Electrolux as well.

I went through CHAT, at first AI, but then transferred to what they claimed was a human. I was ASSURED this issue would be resolved by management. A week later, after hearing nothing, I brought up the complaint to the tech installing the pump. He took pictures of the cost estimate and the actual price on AMAZON for the part. He ASSURED me the issue would be presented to his supervisor. Of course, I have heard nothing. Maybe this policy of Customer Service is a part of why SEARS is in the situation it is in. There is virtually NO WAY to speak with a human about the scheduling or repair process. The only option is to chat with a bot, whether you call or text. The one time a technician actually made it to our house (he couldn’t fix anything because the wrong part had been ordered), he told me that even he, the contractor, is given no way to speak with a human manager at Sears Home Services. Sears Home Services gave us an estimate of the repairs to our Jenn Air stove and required a pre-paid deposit amount ($700 +). When the technician came to perform the work he was not able to install the new pilot lights because of the poor condition of the stove (rusted screws he could not remove). He said I would get a refund for the parts that were not used. The value of the parts was several hundred dollars. The refund did not come. I then wrote a letter requesting the refund, and the company never responded.

I called Sears for an appliance repair. The technician who came out had to order the part for my stove. That meant I had to schedule another repair date to have the part installed. Unfortunately, the part never arrived which meant the technician was not able to complete the job. So that meant another appointment had to be scheduled and the part reordered. The part arrived and the window for the technician to installation was from 8am-12:00 noon. No sears technician has called or sent a text message to tell me of their location or time of arrival. I have been waiting from 8:00am this morning until after 3:00pm this afternoon. This is the third scheduled appointment for my stove to be repaired and it’s still not fixed!

My day has been taken up waiting to have my stove repaired and I’m still waiting. Sears service has no regard for a persons time. This is horrible service for the amount of money they ask for regarding their services repair calls. I’m extremely frustrated, disappointed and dissatisfied with Sears service.

Scheduled an appointment with the bottom right there. I would like to have it delayed a full ten days with no explanation. When the technician arrived, he did less than I did to check it out and give me an exorbitant price, took my $130 for the diagnostic without ever really checking anything. Just looked at it with a flashlight for 2 minutes. 10 minutes total, no answer what was wrong.

If it were possible to give zero stars I would. You pay for a service that when you really need it, they do not show up, they do not call to tell you they are not coming. You receive multiple AI messages through text that someone is coming - then when they do not show up, you are forced to use their AI service when you call back and cannot get a live agent to help you. When I finally found a number that I could get live people on, they were reading from a script and could not help - transferred 9x, spent 2.5 hrs begging for help and finally ended up cancelling the contract in full. They kept informing me the call was being recorded, so I asked that a supervisor pull all the call recordings and review all the lies I was told and then get back to me. Regardless, do not waste your money - in the long run it's cheaper to buy the new appliance then pay over and over for this scam.

Now I understand why Sears is going out of business. Their customer services support is horrible. They rely on AI which is only helpful to a certain point but then cannot transfer to a live agent to handle the more in depth issues. If one is looking to buy equipment from Sears and/or warranty look elsewhere because their go to for addressing issues is, I'm sorry with no real resolution that helps the customer.

Had a technician come in to fix my dryer. Assessed and charged me over $350 for ordered parts. Rescheduled me EVERY WEEK FOR OVER A MONTH. I finally tried to call and cancel and get a refund. The number sent me to AI several times, and when I finally reached people, I would get hung up on constantly, transferred constantly. Took over FOUR HOURS AND TWO DAYS TOTAL. AND THEN, I was supposed to receive an email confirmation for the cancellation and the refund. Never received either and never received my refund. NEVER EVER EVER book with them.

I wanted to thank Sears Home Warranty Services and Cinch Home Warranty Services for wonderful service today for my furnace home warranty. The technician was excellent and I am very pleased. Thank you.

    Original Review: Aug. 18, 2025

I am very dissatisfied with Sears Home Warranty. Sears used to provide good service with their warranty. The technician that came out in the spring to inspect my air conditioner, did an amazing job, and I was very pleased with him. I am charged a monthly fee that includes inspection of air conditioner and furnace. I scheduled inspection of my furnace three weeks in advance. Have a day off of work for the inspection. The appointment was confirmed 25 times over the weekend via text messages that they had sent me to confirm my appointment.

The morning of my scheduled appointment I received another confirmation text message. Then I received a message from Richard the virtual person stating that they could not keep the appointment. I contacted them only to find out that they couldn’t keep the appointment because they said I live too far. I have always had my air conditioner and furnace inspected Under my Sears Warranty. They have a contract with cinch and cinch would not provide service. This is a legal and fraudulent. I was sent a text message stating that my service had been rescheduled per my request. I requested service the day that I scheduled it. I was told that they would come out during the rescheduled day. I do not feel that I could trust them. I am very dissatisfied and would never recommend a Sears Warranty program. I am currently looking elsewhere as I am very unhappy and dissatisfied with Sears and cinch.

The scheduling for getting our repairman to come is very simple and easy. However, trying to cancel a service or repair is almost impossible. The part and repair cost was going to cost more than getting a new dishwasher, and I called almost immediately to cancel the part and repair appointment. I was assured everything was canceled, but the part was shipped to us anyway. Sears is wanting us to pay the shipping to have it returned before we can get a refund. It is almost impossible to talk to a real person, and one service representative even hung up on me. Most of my calls were only through AI, which was completely unhelpful. We are still in the process of trying to get this resolved over a month after the issue.

My machine has been out of order for 3 months! This is so very sad. This is the worst experience I have ever had. Where did the old Sears go. And AI can go away not soon enough, but even if you get to a real person, they cannot really help you. I am about ready to go buy another machine, but that just lets them off the hook.

They sign you up, take your money, schedule you an appointment only for someone to call you and say they are 2 stops away and can't make it that you have to reschedule. That was the 1st straw. I will see if they show up and do my repair. If they don't that's the 2nd straw- believe me they won't have a 3rd straw with me; period.

We have been unable to get our refrigerator repaired for months now and unable to reach anyone other than an A.I. response telling us they are all A.I. now and that there are no humans to talk with. I’ve had the same experience as other reviewers. A repair person did come in May and he said he couldn’t fix the refrigerator nor could he move the refrigerator to try to find out why it was leaking. Then we tried to schedule another appointment and was told that before it could be scheduled we had to have a “virtual” appointment so we scheduled that and waited around for that phone call that didn’t happen in the window of time we were given so they called an hour later when I was at my doctor appointment. I called back the number and left them a message to call me which they never did. The next day I got an email stating I missed my appointment and that my appointment was cancelled. I give. I’m now cancelling the contract.

A con artist is a person who deceives others through manipulation and trickery, often to gain financial benefits. I only needed the wires on the outside air conditioner replaced. My home warranty company assigned Sears to the job on 7/1. It took them two weeks, until 7/12, to come out. When the technician arrived (between 8am and 5pm) at 4:30 pm., he had an attitude. He asked for payment upfront and looked at the outside AC unit. I told him only the wires needed replacing. He stared at us and said, "I need to look at the unit inside." My unit is upstairs in the attic. He went up for about five minutes and came back down. His diagnosis was that I needed a control board part, which he had to order, and he scheduled a follow-up for another two weeks, on 7/24.

On 7/24, my husband and I waited the whole day (8am-5pm), missing work. The tech arrived nearly at 6pm.— a completely different technician who seemed clueless about the situation. The previous tech had not logged any notes and didn't order the part. To make matters worse, he wanted payment for showing up... Are you serious? I had to call the home warranty service, who told him that no payment was needed for this service. I kept insisting he examine the unit because he appeared ready to leave without doing anything. Besides, he had an attitude of not caring. He looked at the outside unit and refused to go upstairs. He made a phone call and said, "Yeah, you need a part," but it wasn't ordered. He promised to order it again, expecting it to arrive in the morning, and said he would return between 8am and 12 pm on 7/25. Soon after he left, I received a text saying he would come back on 8/6.

To make a very long story short, they didn't show up on 8/6 and sent me another message about 8/20. During all this, I contacted my home warranty to assign a different HVAC company to my claim. On 8/8, a different company came out, replaced the wires outside, but discovered someone had cut the wire to the upstairs unit... humm, who could have done that! I didn't need a control board after all! The problem was fixed within 30 minutes. SEARS is a mess! They use confidence tricks to defraud or swindle people into believing false information. Essentially, a con artist is skilled at cheating people out of their money or valuables through deception schemes!!!

My wife had to miss work three times, first two times she waited around for the appointment time which is 8am- 5pm for them to cancel on us at the end of the day. The third appointment got a text from an automated number saying we were not home but yet the picture they sent was not even our house. It said check the voicemail that was left but had no missed calls. There is not a phone number for you to call to actually talk to a person. Before you buy a warranty when purchasing an appliance make sure they do not use this company.

We had service tech visit us to look at our refrigerator's ice maker and water dispenser, it was under service order number ** on August 4th. We were provided a quote for the repairs. The original quote is attached to this email. The parts were $231.21 and the labor was $409.95 for a total of $674.47. The tech said the part will come via UPS and he scheduled us for the repair on Friday August 8th. I asked him what if the part doesn't come by then, he said, "Oh no it will be here by Friday."

Today, August 6th we received a delivery from Amazon. We did not order anything from Amazon so we were surprised by the delivery. When we opened the box we found two items, the refrigerator repair part and a child's lunch box (please see the attached photos). Surprisingly I checked my Amazon account and no orders were placed for either of these items. The smaller package contained the refrigerator part which I found on Amazon, for $44.95. Please keep in mind the technician charged us $231.21 for this part. The other package is what appears to be a child's lunch box (please see attached photo). We never ordered this either. Something is just not right with how this transpired. We are shipping the part back to you, yes in its original Amazon packaging.

When I attempted to get a hold of customer service throughout the day for a smaller window, it’s all automated. Once it got past 4pm, the option allowed an AI customer service rep who stated live agents or supervisors do not speak to customers. What? Then offered a 2 week reschedule. It’s summer and my HVAC is out after it had taken 2 weeks to get this appointment. Absolute garbage.

Absolute worst experience I have ever had with a service provider. They scheduled 3 separate appointments, sent multiple texts in the days leading up to the appointment to confirm/remind me (including day of), and then never showed up, never called to say they would not show up. Just a new text with a new date and a new series of text reminder/confirmation messages which they again missed. Went through this 3 separate times. And now I am getting emails to recover the parts they never delivered. Totally frustrating.
