We purchased this Samsung refrigerator R271 based on the name and also word of mouth from other people, a big mistake. This past Thanksgiving November 2012, we found water under the vegetable bins, then the freezer stopped working. I called the repair service, waited a week for him to show up, then another week for a new compressor. Five weeks later, at Christmas, it was the same thing, except now the freezer and the top portion of the fridge is broken. I called Samsung, only to be told that basically they do not stand behind their products. I will never buy another Samsung appliance again.

I bought an RF266 from Lowe's in the fall of 2007. Unfortunately, I did not buy the extended warranty. Just after the warranty period ended, the icemaker broke. The ice bin is straight across the back, so when the ice is dropping and you pull the drawer out, it breaks the sensor bar. That has been corrected in newer models. Since that happened, we have not had an icemaker for the first time in over 25 years. I called and emailed customer service and never had a response. Next thing that happened was one of the shelves’ front edge cracked. Then we noticed the egg container and butter door had cracked also. This past summer saw the temperature fluctuating from 48°F down to 26°F freezing everything in the fridge. After talking to a couple of different techs, they recommended putting a good thermometer inside and manually changing the temp. All of the techs said that we were looking at $600-$900 to repair this thing and waiting several weeks to have the parts shipped in and maybe not correcting the problem.

Yesterday, the final straw broke when one of the pins holding the deli drawer door broke. As soon as I have some calves to sell this spring, I will buy something that you can actually get parts for without having to wait for them to come from Korea. My wife asked me what I was going to do with the Samsung when I replace it and I told her it was going with all of my other junk steel and sold as scrap or maybe keeping it and storing farm chemicals in it. There is no way I would pawn this piece of work on anyone. Anyone considering Samsung appliances needs to rethink before buying. I have a 15-yr old Whirlpool in the shop that is still getting it on. I wish I had never taken it to the shop but kept it at the house. We just wanted to get the newer style and increase the cubic feet.

Samsung RB194ACW/XAC - I purchased this stylish, freezer on the bottom, Samsung refrigerator in mid-2010. After two weeks, the digital temperature display panel on the front was showing errors in the shape of the numbers and some bars of color were missing. The fridge seemed to be operating okay, but a year and 2 days after purchase, the refrigerator portion of the device began to stop cooling. The temperature readings on the front were whacky-looking and the inside of the fridge was clearly warm and foods began to spoil. The fridge was on and running, but there was no cooling effect. This started on Thanksgiving weekend, with a large family meal on. The freezer (on the bottom of the unit) was still working.

A call to Samsung Canada was very unsatisfactory. I was told, curtly, that the refrigerator was past its warranty and they would not help me. The warranty was two days expired. I called the store that sold it to me. No help there either. I paid a private appliance repair company $340.00 to have the sensor repaired and a new temperature digital panel installed. It took 2.5 months for the parts to come in and three visits by a repairperson. The first two digital panels arrived in the wrong color. Today, less than two weeks following the repair, the fridge is again not cooling. The digital panel says it is 4 degrees in the fridge, but it's very warm in the fridge and food has again begun to go off. The freezer still works. I removed the back protective panel and found the fridge coils completely iced up and the tiny plastic fan that is supposed to move air over the coils is encased in ice and inoperable.

I guess I've been dealt a lemon. I will not have this fridge repaired again. After reading many identical complaints on this and other sites, I realized that Samsung has produced a refrigerator system that has known functional defects - which they continue to market and sell to unsuspecting customers like me. Ignoring customer complaints and providing no follow-up or interest in customer satisfaction is the Samsung way when it comes to their flawed refrigerator design. I will never purchase another Samsung product as a result.

I bought a Samsung refrigerator and a Samsung washer and dryer a year and eight months ago. I don't recommend anyone to buy anything that has the name Samsung on it. I had the refrigerator about a year and the memory board went out causing the icebox part to freeze and the freezer part to be the icebox. It cost me $500 to replace the memory board. Now eight months later, my washer has stopped working. It is a computer chip that has gone out which I'm sure will not be cheap. I wouldn't recommend Samsung to anyone. They couldn't give me another Samsung product for free. I wouldn't bring it in my house. Buyers beware!

I bought a new fridge five days ago, with a lower freezer, model RF4287HARS. It was plugged in by the delivery tech and set to specific settings. The same day, water began to build in the vegetable bin. We cleaned it and shortly afterwards, moisture was building up. Samsung is lame at acknowledging fault and the extended warranty is quick to remind me that the manufacturer warranty is in effect. I will drop this pretty, but lame product made by Samsung, in the store today.

My three-year old Samsung freezer is constantly frosting up and has built up ice so badly that the gasket around the freezer drawer is now completely out of whack and the draw doesn't close properly anymore which only makes matters worse. I had a Sears repairman come to the house and he tried. He said he had fixed the problem; well, he didn't. I paid $2,800 for this refrigerator and did not buy extended warranty thinking I would not need it and could not really afford anymore. It cost me $300 to have a serviceman come to the house and it's still not fixed.

I purchased Samsung 237 French door ref. The shelves are not spaced properly to accept milk or juice containers - the items must be tipped and forced into the shelf space. The shelves are made of an extremely brittle plastic and are subject to cracking. I have had to replace two-hinged shelves due to shattered plastic hinges even though they were never moved from the horizontal position. The crisper drawer is full width and can only be operated when both refrigerator doors are in full open position. I contacted manufacturer within warranty period and one-hinged shelf was replaced with the caveat that this was a "one-time" honor of the warranty and it would not be repeated. Now another shelf has multiple breaks in the plastic due to its brittleness, and we have a poor quality appliance that is out of warranty. Do not buy a Samsung refrigerator unless you have a very high tolerance for aggravation.

I purchased my Samsung refrigerator model #RS265TDBP in July 2010 from Best Buy. In early 2012, the computer board display on my refrigerator couldn't be read. It appeared to be working fine, you just couldn't read it and I had no idea what the temperature was. Since it only had a year warranty, the Samsung Certified Repair in my area came out to fix it at a cost of $200.00. Then in July of 2012, my refrigerator stopped getting cold. The freezer was fine, but the fridge stopped. We again called the Samsung certified person that had done the repairs before, but they said they only issued a 30-day warranty on the computer board (which we were told by another tech was the problem). We decided to go with another repair company that gave a 5-year warranty on parts.

They came out and said there was a block of ice on the fan motor, which caused it to blow out the circuit board and the computer board. Now to fix it was over $300. Now just two weeks ago, Dec 2012, the exact same thing happened again. The fridge got warm, food spoiled, no fan running and the smell of burnt circuit board. We called the company who did the repairs and had them come out again to inspect. Lo and behold, it is the exact same problem. Since they gave us a 5-year warranty on the part, they are paying for the new parts but we still have to come up with the $140 labor.

I contacted Samsung to tell them about the defective unit and see if they could do anything to help as it looks like we are going to have to repair this every 3-4 months or purchase a new one. All they said was it's too old and there is nothing they can do. Really? It's less than 3 years old. Never buy a Samsung refrigerator! My refrigerator is a lemon.

Two delivered within 30 days, and both had a computer issue: I purchased the 25.6 cubic foot French door Samsung refrigerator in November 2012. I had been told by salesmen at two different stores that Samsung was the best refrigerator you could buy. I took their word for it and stopped looking at any other brands. When my fridge was delivered and set up, the delivery man said he was pushing the "power freeze" button to cool it off quickly so I could put my food back in. He mentioned that it would go off on its own once it had cooled down. I noticed that it stayed on -8 degrees for day. I kept thinking there was a problem with the freezer temperature setting.

Finally, I called Samsung and was told that if I unplugged it and plugged it back it, that would take care of the problem. Instead, it plummeted to -8 again, although the freezer was set on 0. I finally figured out that the power freeze button was not turning itself off like it should. Samsung says it should stay on approximately 1 1/2 hour then shut off. Feeling like I had purchased a "lemon," I requested a different one. The store very graciously brought out another new refrigerator. After the delivery men left, the first thing I did was push "power freeze" to see what happened. Would you believe that it also never went off?

Wondering if other people had experienced the same thing, I searched on the internet and found this forum. I am so grateful to have found out the problems that exist with Samsung refrigerators before my 30 days are up. I now have 5 days left to request it to be picked up and my money returned. I have also talked with a few servicemen who have told me that they would never own a Samsung. I will say that the look and feel of the Samsung is wonderful. I don't think it will be possible to find any other brand that I like better as far as the inside set up, durable feeling of the shelves and bins; but looking pretty isn't worth anything if it isn't reliable.

I also had water under the veggie bin and a rock-hard freezer after 18 months of use. After two visits from a Sears repair tech that couldn't fix the problem, I contacted Samsung. They gave me a one-time warranty and scheduled a certified Samsung repair tech to come to my home. I might add that the ice maker is not hooked up. The problem was solved within 5 minutes of him showing up. Check the ice maker light on the top of the refrigerator. If the light is illuminated blue, the ice maker is off, which is what it should be if it is not hooked up and making ice. If you look real close, it even says "ice maker off". You would think it would be the opposite.

Since then, the water has stopped and the freezer is now at a normal temp. I love this refrigerator, and my confidence has been restored in Samsung products. In the future, I will only have a certified tech repair my product since they seem to know what they are doing. I will never call Sears again to repair anything. This was an easy fix, and I should have been told this at delivery. The only thing that I can think of is that maybe the light was on and then got knocked out because of a power surge or something, but I will be keeping an eye on it to make sure it stays on until I can get it hooked up to make ice.

After paying for months for a new refrigerator, which was over $2,500, which is a lot of money to me, after about a year, it started making a noise. I called Samsung for them to tell me that a service tech would come out, but that was not covered under warranty and I did not buy the extended warranty. Well, after I spent that much money, I didn't think I needed to spend additional amount for an extended warranty. Was I wrong? Another $300 for some 18-year-old kid to just switch out a motor. Here we are 11 months later with the same problem, mainly because the first technician didn't fix it right the first time. It constantly freezes up, and water is under the vegetables bins. What a lemon. People, do your homework and never buy a Samsung refrigerator! This one had the ice and water on the outside and the French doors. I was really upgrading, and I had to make payments. Same problem as Ashok of San Diego - the water dispenser on our Samsung refrigerator turned itself on around 2am and kept running, flooding our kitchen. The onboard computer threw error code "PC ER" and shut down the entire machine (except for closing the water valve), not even the light inside would go on when we opened the door. It made a huge mess. We now know from reading this board and from several other sources that there have been numerous problems with ice/water dispensers across many Samsung models. Our model # is RSG257AARS and the unit is just 2 months out of its 1 year warranty.

We contacted @SamsungSupport via Twitter. They were polite but will do nothing to stand behind their product. Granted we just missed the warranty period but this is an established, well documented, and widespread problem, an obvious design/manufacturing defect (just read this board!). Rhetorically, who ever heard of a water dispenser "turning itself on" overnight and causing a flood? Is that not egregiously unacceptable for a one year and two month old, very expensive appliance?

Our trusted, local appliance repair guy says it would cost $600 to fix, as the 'PC ER' code represents a massive electronics failure. He doesn't even want to tackle the job at all because he thinks that even with replacement parts installed, it's very likely to reoccur due to the low quality of Samsung components, and he doesn't want to be responsible. He researched and found that Samsung has huge problems with its water/ice makers.

We purchased the fridge at Lowe's, thinking we were getting a good price relative to competitors' products, given the features and sleek (looking) design. You get what you pay for, folks. Don't fall for the pretty face. I will never, ever buy another Samsung appliance and I will continue to be vocal about my experience in hope that I can persuade others to avoid doing so also.

I spent a lot of time researching refrigerators and when I found the Samsung 21 cu. ft. Bottom Freezer Refrigerator, I was thrilled. I liked the size, the look and it was easy to clean. It kept things at the right temperature. However after about 20 months, we began to experience the same problem that numerous people have complained about. We found a pool of water in the vegetable bins and under them. It was in the summer; so we unplugged the refrigerator and thoroughly defrosted it and put everything back in. The same thing happened, so we took everything out again and this time we waited longer for it to defrost. It did the trick. We thought perhaps it was our fault. Maybe we had overloaded the fridge or something.

Then a few months later it happened again. This time the temperatures were cooler in the house. It took two days to thaw it out. It worked for another few months. Now in late November the same thing - ice is accumulating under the vegetables bins. Water is in the bins. This has to be a lemon and a design flaw. My husband is quite technical and can't figure it out. We don't want to call a repairman and pay $250 to have him thaw out the fridge again. Isn't there anything we can do? We will probably just keep defrosting it and then get a new fridge after only two years.

We bought a refrigerator in June 2012 and it stopped working in November. We used the warranty service and they came out and stated they had to order a part. We already lost $200 worth of food and had to cancel our family Thanksgiving at this point. The part came in on 11/20 and the service company sent us a link to make an appointment. We selected an available appointment on 11/23 and took off work to be there. The service folks (Tech Pro Plus) never came. We looked online and they had changed our appointment to 11/28. After hopeless calls to the service company and Samsung, evidently the service place was closed that day. We went back to the link and scheduled an appointment for 11/26. Again, took work off to be here only to find that they again changed the appointment to 11/28.

Samsung stated they have no control over the service company and that is garbage. Any company you use is a reflection on you! So incredibly disappointed and feel like we've been taken advantage of with this warranty service.

We bought a Samsung 26-cubic ft. French Door Fridge that was manufactured July 2011. It was installed in October 2011. After 12 months of use, the fan motor broke and the fridge vents iced up. This led to the temperature in the fridge going up, and all our food spoiling. We had bought the fridge through Sears, and had an extended warranty. After 6 weeks, Sears could not source a replacement fan motor from Samsung. We have heard that Samsung only makes a refrigerator model for about 3 years or less, then changes it. They rarely make spare parts, and if they do, they are hard to get. We are going to get a new fridge because Sears cannot source a part for our one year old fridge. I'm amazed that such a small part is going to render our fridge useless. What a waste of a fridge, and what a disappointment in Samsung, who we thought would build a good product. This was a $2,300 fridge and should last more than a year, and should have available parts. A very good example of the low quality of appliances these days.

I've eyed this Samsung French door refrigerator for 2 years & purchased from Sears. Because I was space restricted, it was a perfect fit. After 6 months, the paint was coming off the handles. I called & was sent replacement parts. When the tech arrived, the parts were wrong and more were ordered. More handles arrived and when the tech arrived & installed, I mentioned that the freezer was very cold and my ice cream was impossible to even get out of the container. He said that it was running unusually cold and I needed a new circuit board. He ordered it for me, and a new tech arrived to put it in. When he did & plugged it into the wall, sparks came from the outlet and my circuit breakers blew. He said it was a defective part, replaced the original part and ordered another. The new part arrived and another tech with it, the exact same thing happened. He put the original part in and said he didn't know what the problem was.

By now, my warranty had run out and I was pretty much up a creek. So I live with the extremely frozen freezer and stopped buying ice cream. Yesterday, I noticed water in the veggie bin. When I took it out, there were 2 inches of ice on the bottom. The ice maker is not hooked up, so I am clueless as to where it would be coming from. This thing is not even 2 years old. I am so disappointed, I can't tell you. I do not have a warranty and assuming from the 2 circuit boards that can't be put in that it is defective. Sears will do nothing for me. I have not called Samsung yet, but plan on it because of the water. If anyone has a solution, please let me know. We had our Samsung fridge for 3 years in July and the compressor decided to fail, with the warranty expiring after 2 years. However, Samsung organized a repair agent to attend at a cost of $130 for an onsite visit to tell me it was the compressor and that it would be covered under warranty as the compressor has a 5-year warranty on it. That was great so they organized an agent to attend again (Samsung Plaza) to pick up the fridge, so I waited all day and they never showed up. Then the following week, they finally picked it up. After a week of them repairing the fridge, they delivered it back.

They delivered it in the pouring rain, it was windy and they were in a rush. In such a rush, the truck door smashed the side of my fridge. As they brought it into my house, they scratched and dented my door on my house. They broke the wheel underneath the fridge and pushed it along my floor boards. They have now made a mess of my floors by denting the floor boards from my door all the way to where the fridge is located. When they left, I went to shut the door and noticed pieces of the fridge on the floor and as I looked down, I noticed the door on my house was damaged and the massive dents in my floor. I then contacted them straight away to tell them because by this stage, the delivery guys had driven off. I had a 3-month-old baby in my hand at the time. That's why I hadn't followed them out. When I reported it, they were great and shocked about what had happened and were making a case of it.

After many, many calls since 9th August 2012, they finally decided to approve they would repair the damage. I have spent time getting quotes for the door and my floor to be fixed and forward them on. I then had the owner of Samsung Plaza come out to view the damage and she advised she would send me a check for the door to be repaired but had someone she knew who would fix my floor. Since then I have again made many, many calls and emails and really haven't got anywhere. I was advised a repair guy would come 31 October and had a call in the morning to cancel. I then told her that I had the painter coming out to repair the door and needed the check for payment and she advised she would send it in the mail. This has never been seen. I have contacted her chasing the check and the repair guy and always am told, "I'll call you back." I have been pretty patient and it's wearing very thin now after almost months of this. I need help on getting to the bottom of this. In the meantime, I have another Samsung agent attend to pick up and repair the broken wheel on my fridge.

Here's the conclusion to my review. The repair tech came to my home today and saw the blinking light on the Samsung refrigerator. He said he'd have to look this up online. His response: “Your freezer fan is blocked by ice. It will cost $240.00.” The $110.00 service fee would be waived if I wanted him to remove the ice, but if the sensor was broken, that's $80. And if the fan was also broken, another $80. The warranty for the work was only 90 days.

So, I gave him his $110 for wasting my time and sent him on his way, then proceeded to take apart my freezer (unscrewed everything). Once the back panel was removed, it was covered in so much ice I boiled water to melt it and knocked it away from the wires. I checked to make sure my plugs were fitted properly. I took out the fan - it looked fine. 2 hours later, it’s working again; no flashing lights, the freezer and fridge were cold again and all I needed was a Phillips screwdriver. I would recommend trying this first if you have a couple of hours. It will save you time and money.

There is obviously a bigger problem with this machine but I don't know what it is. I have tried for 2 years to get Samsung to fix this for the thousands of folks who purchased this lemon to no avail. Samsung is not going to stand behind this product, so I will no longer be a Samsung consumer!

We bought a Samsung French door refrigerator on June 28, 2012. Only a few days after purchase, spots began showing on the stainless steel doors. I called Samsung and read their suggestions online, which was to use a stainless steel cleaner as well as WD 40, but nothing removed the spots. They grew worse until the entire door was covered. I have been completing service requests with Samsung for three months now. Samsung canceled the first two requests and finally sent a Samsung service company to look at our fridge. The service company said they have never seen it before, and that it was most likely a finish defect. Instead of taking care of the issue, Samsung is refusing to replace the doors, stating that it was a cosmetic issue. As you can see by the picture, it is a serious issue on this $2600 piece of crap that Samsung refuses to repair. I own four Samsung TVs and other items, but I will never buy another Samsung product. Who else has this issue?

I bought this 1 1/2 years ago and after owning it for six months, we had to have the electric panel replaced due to the water filter light not resetting. We replaced the water filter, and we could not get the light to reset and go off. Here we are, a year later, and the refrigerator freezer has quit running. The door is reading "OF." When I called Samsung, the representative told me it was in store demo mode. How it would have gotten there, I have no idea. It is just my husband and me in the house! She told me to hit a couple of buttons at the same time to reset it. Well, guess what? That didn't work. She then told me that a service man would give me a call within 24 to 48 hours to schedule an appointment. I talked to her on Friday afternoon and it is now almost 10:00 am on Monday morning, and I am still waiting for that call. I thought by spending over $2k on a refrigerator, it would last more than 1 1/2 years. What a big disappointment!

I hope you read this before you purchase a Samsung refrigerator. I purchased my Samsung French door refrigerator 2 years ago. After 1 year, it stopped cooling and had ice buildup in the freezer. I would unplug and re-plug the unit, and it would reset. I spent too much money for it to last only 1-2 years. I called Samsung service only to be advised that the compressor, evaporator, condenser, drier, or connecting tube were the only parts covered for 5 years; but scrolling through the comments, it seemed to be the freezer sensor everyone was having issues with. I wouldn't recommend this product to my worst enemy. If you are thinking of purchasing a Samsung refrigerator, please reconsider. You will only have issues, and food and money loss. I hope a class action suit is next because Samsung refrigerators need to be recalled, and consumers deserve their money back.

I've been reading the reviews on Samsung refrigerators and clearly, the model number is irrelevant. They all seemed to have problems. My main issue is the unit doesn't keep anything cold. Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't that the most basic of functions in a fridge? Even though the readout shows 36 degrees, it's closer to 56 degrees. Anything worse than warm milk folks? The good news is the butter is always soft! Aside from this, the unit makes ungodly loud noises. It sounds as though Nolan Ryan is throwing a baseball against the side of it. Of course, the warranty ran out just weeks ago. Samsung has been absolutely no help and wanted to charge me another $250, because I was eligible to reinstate the warranty. Lucky me. I guess I'm out of luck.

The repair person they recommend wants $180 to look at the refrigerator plus parts which could be anywhere from $20 to $250 depending on the problem. There is a sensor to defrost the fridge and send the water created down a drain for evaporation. This sensor fails to work causing water to pool inside either under the crisper drawers or the cool select pantry. If the water is not noticed, it will ultimately flow from the unit onto the floor. Sometimes this sensor will also cause freezing of the fan that keeps air circulating in the refrigerator. Personally, I had this problem repaired on 4/3/12 and today, 10/29/12, I have called Samsung to report that it is happening again. Their customer service stated that the repair is not covered, is out of warranty and they will not pay to replace/repair. I decided to do a little research via the web and after typing in various forms of the following question: water leaks in bottom of fridge, water under food drawer, water leaking from fridge, etc, I have come across over 2,000 inquiries to this question just from the Samsung website.

When I visited other sites, i.e. AppliancePartsPros.com and ConsumerAffairs.com, I saw another 500 plus complaints. So how do we get Samsung to admit this is a defective part and correct the problem for all of us? I slipped on my tile floor because of the water and now have my ankle in a brace. Other folks have complained about flooring becoming damaged, food loss, all sorts of problems because of this defect. I can't afford to keep calling a serviceman out for the same problem and probably lots of others feel the same. Thank you for looking into this matter.

When this particular one was made, the assembly line forgot to put the protective plastic cover over one of the sensors which allowed the sensor to drop down and be cut off by the smaller plastic drawer in the freezer. Repairman said we should get our money back for the service repair since this was a defect when this one was made (even though it was about 5 weeks over the 1-year warranty).

Basically, somebody did not do their job when our refrigerator was made. After 4 calls to Samsung, they told us to send a statement from the repairman and they would refund our service call fee. After 2 months, a message was left that it was not going to be refunded. I talked with the service rep and he said, "Sorry, it's not going to happen." It was fine until March of this year and then to the tune of $200 we had to have the repairman defrost the fan, etc. because it was so noisy. And then I discovered the water was leaking inside the refrigerator under the crisper trays. We thought the problem was solved until May of this year when we discovered ice forming under the crisper trays. Another service call to the tune of $200. And then in July, I discovered a repeat of the same problem. Previously when I called Samsung, I was told that if it happened again, they would do something.

After 10 calls and faxing information twice, I was told that nothing could be done and that refrigerators only lasted 5 to 9 years anyway. I doubt they would want to pay $200 every three months to keep their refrigerator running properly and I also doubt that they replace their own refrigerator that often. Every time you call, you have to give the model number, your name and phone number and then be referred to the executive customer service and repeat the same information. Usually there isn't a supervisor that you can talk to and so you have to call back again and go through the entire thing again. My opinion is that if you have to do this enough times, you finally give up and go away! What a poor recommendation for a company so well known!

She said because the freezer started freezing again, there is nothing wrong with it and it doesn't need a service call. She said that if they sent someone to service it, they would have reimbursed me for the food. I told her to send someone as appliances are not self-healing and there has to be a problem for this to happen in the first place and I am afraid to put anything else in the freezer. She told me I must have pushed a button, such as the child lock button for this to have happened. I have never touched this panel. It is exactly as it was when it was installed. I also wonder why if the child lock button had been pushed, would all the food thaw out? She said they could do nothing for me. No service call, no reimbursement.

Ice accumulates in the vegetable bins. This seems impossible since there is no source of water - we have never hooked up a water line to the ice maker. The flow only stops when I push the water dispensing pad much like if I was filling a cup of water. I have called three different repairmen including the Samsung authorized repair personnel who have not been able to fix the problem. I have paid more than $400 at this point. I am pretty good at repairs and research so after two days with online Samsung support, they recommended to call for service. I could not find anything online to help myself take care of the problem, so I called a local company that I have used in the past. I could not use this company because you have to be a special Samsung repair service, which Samsung only gave me two companies to choose from. They sent out the email service request, which after days, I had no response so I called. I called on a Thursday to that company and received a message that they were closed for the next 5 days for Labor Day. I have never heard of a company that is service-orientated close that many days.

I then called the second company, which came out the following Thursday. I had given the information for what was wrong and they brought out the wrong part and needed to order the new one. Two weeks later, they came out and fixed the problem with a total work time of 20 minutes combined for both stops and $230.00 later, which was a good portion for what I paid for the fridge. After I called Samsung and complained about the first company, they referred me to the second. I still received a call three weeks after the incident that a tech from the first company was at my door to look at the refrigerator. What? Needless to say, I will not purchase another Samsung knowing that I don't have a choice to go with a service center of my choosing. The latest in a long nightmare of disgust (after the Blu-ray player that scratched circles in our discs and ruined them), is the fridge (RFG297HDRS) that decided to turn itself into a waterfall water feature in our kitchen overnight. Water was streaming rapidly from the ice maker exactly 15 months after purchase. Fortunately (well, maybe not) we got a store extended warranty because, Samsung itself told us good luck and Godspeed.

The authorized Samsung repair people from the warranty company changed the ice maker and left. Two hours later and after business hours, the thing started leaking again (not as bad, but pretty bad once it started). Unrelated to Samsung, the morons at Warrantech won't let you put in a new call for service for 24 hours. Insult added to the injury of this regrettable purchase (all electronics and appliances in our new home are Samsung - I loved their monitors from 10 years ago, but that was when they were scrappy upstarts, not bloated Chinese wannabes), lesson learned. My advice is, avoid these and any store-branded warranty, since you'll need it and both are total trash!

I called twice in 6 months on the same problem. The first time was in addition to setting up a contact for an authorized repair person to come out. I was told that the problem was that the drain line was frozen and they suggested that I let the refrigerator and freezer completely thaw and this should take care of the problem. I did this for 4 hours with both doors open. I "may" have solved the issue for 4-5 days, but it returned. On my second call, I went through the same information again. This time I went through with having the authorized repair person. I took the day off to accommodate their "window of availability".

When the repair person arrived, he already knew what the issue was. He did remove one crisper tray and acknowledged that he could see where the water was coming from. He then told me that there is an "upgrade" that is out that will fix the problem. When asked, he told me that it would not be covered by warranty because it was an "upgrade and not a fix". He was here for 10 minutes, which included his paperwork being done. They charged me $76.00 and then proceeded to tell me that the parts and labor would be $116.00; however, the parts are on back-order and so the repairs would not be done until October and this is September 11th. This, coupled with the "thawing" suggestion, tells me that is not a small issue.

So I called Samsung and after 10 minutes on hold as the problem was being reviewed, I was transferred to the "executive customer relations" department only to be told that my refrigerator was past its one-year warranty and there was nothing they would do to satisfy my issue. Is it unreasonable for a product that costs $1300.00 to last longer than 3 years? So much for "executive customer service”! They have my money and they didn't seem to think that they need anything else from me. What they fail to remember or maybe care about is that I (a consumer) will want to buy an appliance again and I have friends that will need to do the same!

I spent $2200 on a Samsung Refrigerator (model RF4287HAPB). As I'm reading, I see the model number doesn't matter - they are all junk. I'd like to submit my experience. Today is 9/6/12. I bought my refrigerator on 9/20/11. On 8/20/12, the screen started reading an error code. I called Samsung, who sent out a repair person. The repair person stated it was from the freezer. It's irreparable because the wires where the malfunction occurred are in a non-removable part of the unit, and therefore, the code is permanently affixed. I cannot operate what temperature setting, or whether I want cubed or crushed ice.

In other words, once a part goes, it affects the whole unit. My part was a freezer sensor affixed with small plastic clips (which a consumer would not know since it's not easily seen). Somehow, it became dislodged and the wires were cut, thus, making the unit irreparable. My spouse is an engineer who has designed some items that most people are aware of and rely on a daily basis. I explained the design to him and his comments were that this was a highly flawed design and structure.

The refrigerator is under warranty, still. I am replacing it with a better model (i.e., not Samsung). I purchased the unit at Sear's and they are replacing it with the cost of a new refrigerator, as to what I paid for the original unit. I'm glad I purchased there since it appears that Lowe's and Home Depot do not honor their customers. I can purchase another brand and not Samsung. I wish I had done my homework before I made this purchase. Additionally, I'd like to add, there is no way to effectively clean the shelves and side doors since it has a multitude of parts and they do not come apart. So, it allows bacterial growth from water and spills. I have kept this refrigerator clean and I don't have that problem. But I can see how it would occur since there are cracks and crevices that water and spills can seep and there is no way to effectively dry them since it's impossible to get any apparatus down there, or you risk breaking it all together.

I am very angry that each time you call, you go through the same information not once but twice. And each person tries to resolve the problem but has no authority to do so. Your training for customer service is outstanding as I believe the reason for going through all this repetition is so that people will get so fed up and just give up... I don't think so! I expect to have this issue resolved. And believe me, after this runaround, I will not purchase another Samsung refrigerator, which I was going to do until I found out how unsatisfactory their response to a problem was. No wonder you have almost 500 complaints registered on the internet!

I have multiple Samsung products and thought I could trust them. I purchased a French Door bottom freezer about 3 years ago (model # RF267ACRS/XAA) from Sears and luckily bought the rather expensive Master Service Agreement with a 3-year extension (a rip-off because the 1st year is supposed to be manufacturer covered). Fridge worked fine for 2 years. Then we noticed ice freezing up on the back panel of the fridge compartment. The fan started making a loud noise, and we called Sears (who owns their A&E service dept they send out, a major conflict of interest) and the tech melted the ice and said he cleaned out a drain. Fridge seemed to work for about another 4 months, then ice was building up again on the panel that stores the "twin cooling system".

Another tech call takes 2 weeks to get problem resolved. A new panel is installed and tech tells us he sees this problem frequently. I also have noticed the problem posted by many people on the internet. I expect that the back panel will once again freeze up. My next step is to contact Samsung to see if they have recommendations or can replace our faulty fridge, but do not expect results as it has been 3 years since we bought the $2600 fridge. With warranties, it has cost us more than $3500. Maybe someone will start up a class action lawsuit against Samsung as this appears to be a systemic quality issue. Does anyone know if one has been started?

We have had our refrigerator for only a couple of years. First the ice maker broke. Then it started making this loud noise that would stop when we opened the door. We had a technician come out and fix these problems. This was only a few months ago. Recently, I had noticed our milk didn't seem that cold even though the temp read 38 degrees. The problem started getting worse so we "reset" the fridge by unplugging it. This made the temp gauge work again and the true temperature was 66 degrees! After having already spent over $300 to repair this new refrigerator, I am reluctant to spend more to get this new problem fixed, especially after reading these complaints.

An hour later, I got a call from the Samsung technical service who told me I put the bucket back improperly and they never heard of this before. The only way to get it out is to break it. Being an engineer, I was surprised a technician would tell me from a phone conversation to break it and this never happened before. I asked directly if this was a technician telling me this. He was someone from the accounting department who talked to a technician prior to calling me. I am shocked that Samsung, which I thought was a quality house, would have an accountant pose as a technician. Unable to reach Samsung, I contacted the California’s state attorney general’s office and they contacted Samsung within a week (complaints are not new to them). Someone from the office of the president called and was annoyed that I did not contact them first.

I noted that they do not want to be contacted; otherwise, the number would be posted online. Instead, there is a bogus number with their corporate address. I was told that I would receive a "full refund." They later indicated that "full refund" was only the price of the refrigerator, not the total purchase price (which included $158.00 in taxes). I've refused to accept less than the full purchase price. I have no refrigeration for 5 months now and they do not care. Something should be done. When Samsung technicians came to my house on June 30th, 2012 and July 21, 2012, they told me that my refrigerator is not repairable.

I am trying to get back my $328.94 that they charged me to repair it the first time (June 30th). This refrigerator came defective from the manufacturer, that is what one of the technicians told me the first time and he said that the manufacturer knows that but they had kept quiet due to a recall or that they have to recall all the refrigerators. At the same time, this technician told me that he was aware of the problem and that they had fixed before, but they did not do that with mine and that is why I want my money back. Because they lied to me. Samsung is bad, bad product, bad reputation. I will ask my children to put this in Facebook and everywhere so people are aware of this problem. Samsung Refrigerator Model # RF263AEBP, Serial # JJ054GBZ400358B, and date of purchase: 04-30-2010. On 3-21-12 on line chat with Samsung: I am having a problem with the middle vent holes inside of the back of the refrigerator frozen with ice. Also, the bottom of the inside of the refrigerator is full of water. I had the same problem back in September and I defrosted the vent holes with a hair dryer (like the Samsung customer service rep told us to), and we wiped up all the water but now the same thing happened again!

Eventually it fills up and leaks on the floor! I had a local repair tech that just became an authorized Samsung dealer but he didn't know what the problem was and he couldn't get through to Samsung. My wife and I are very upset that this is happening since it is only 1-1/2 years old and we spent $1,143.84 to purchase it! It already did cost me $85.00 for the repair guy to come out and he couldn't do anything. Even though the warranty has run out, we don't feel that we should have to pay to have this repaired. Now, it is making loud/soft humming noise and I can't get the temperature inside the refrigerator lower than 53 degrees! Also, I just cleaned out all the water sitting inside the bottom again under the ''cool select pantry'' we have to do it once a month!

It was going to take a Samsung tech several days before they could come out so I called another local repairman and he came out the next day. He spent a lot of time at my home and did figure out what was wrong. The back panel inside was completely frozen up. He had to order (2) parts and come back and replaced a defective inside heating element and also a new fan motor assembly because it burnt out from trying to run while frozen. His total charges came to $314.82. The repair was made on 04-12-12.

Last week, the middle vent holes started freezing up again. I defrosted it with a hair dryer (which is what a Samsung customer service rep told me to do way back when I first started having the problem), but it started freezing up again this week. I am going to call the repairman I had out and discuss it with him. I’m thinking that the refrigerator is either not going into a defrost cycle enough times or the inside heating element isn’t sufficient to do the job or Samsung is selling defective parts. I will let you know what happens and how much more it is going to cost me. This has been a frustrating, ongoing ordeal for both my wife and I. After spending so much money, we expected to not have something like this happen for many years!

From my complaint sent to Samsung: I bought this Samsung side-by-side RS2545SH/XAA refrigerator for my office in 2008. Within the first year, I had to have the service techs in to repair and replace the board because it was causing the fridge to over-cool, either freeze the refrigerator section or leave it uncooled. That was repaired under warranty. In the past year, I have encountered the same issue. Now the board is causing the cold water reservoir to freeze. I have had both our local repairman and yours out to attempt repair. The local reported that it is a common problem with refrigerators and recommended higher temp settings to keep the problem at bay, but wouldn't recommend refrigerators with chips for our next purchase.

Your repairman, while polite, wasn't prepared with the parts in the truck for the probable repair. It took him 3 hours to diagnose and defrost the water reservoir. It would have likely been cheaper for him to just replace the plastic unit. He identified that the problem is likely the board or the heater, but could be the wire that connects the two that is not repairable. It would be an additional $350.00 for the repair and another visit on top of the $302.10 already paid to your tech and $110.00 for our local repair tech. The tech warned that with the replacement parts (which he didn't have with him), he couldn't guarantee that it would be fixed because of a wire built into the fridge could be the culprit and isn't repairable. I would be stuck with the costs and a broken fridge.

I and my assistant Paul ** (ticket **) have made numerous calls to your call center for updates and requests to review this issue and have been met with what I would call polite stonewalling. I feel that purchasing a premium product should come with support. I also expect a refrigerator to last at least 20 years before needing service. I have not experienced either with this purchase and could not recommend your product to others. I will be exploring additional avenues to file complaints against your company including the store where we bought it and our state attorney general. It would appear, in hindsight, that I would have been better off purchasing a basic model that would have cost me considerably less and would have been repairable.

A faulty refrigerator is a health and safety issue and has the potential to kill. The digital thermometer displays the temperature incorrectly. Perishable food items stored above 40 degrees for more than two hours can grow deadly bacteria. Samsung, you should be ashamed. Unfortunately, today it is all about the dollar, and honor and integrity have no place in the corporate equation. I'm not sure why, but I did expect more from Lowes. Next step for me will be a catchy little video on YouTube where I use my Samsung refrigerator as an anchor, pushing it off of a boat with a big blue ribbon tied around it. (Don't worry, I'll make sure not to harm the environment in the process and to hoist it back up and dispose of it properly after the filming.)

When I called service, they told me I was overloading the draw and not balancing the contents properly. Why design a large draw that you are supposed to leave half empty? And why did it not have a warning sign displayed in the showroom model with the above instructions? I certainly would not have purchased the product if I was correctly informed. Not a year later, we had trouble with the ice-maker. Luckily, it’s under warranty and we had a tech out to replace it. Again, the same thing happened a year later. This year, 2012, we noticed a leak underneath which caused a puddle on the floor beneath the refrigerator. It’s out of warranty. We called a technician ($100). After extensive search, we found out that it was the defrosting system. It was not working and we needed a new complete defrosting system ($500) as Samsung didn’t replace the heating part alone. We will manually have to defrost it ourselves in the future, which is ridiculous (back to the stone age). We did not want to put a dime more into such an expensive appliance. I bought a Samsung fridge (RFG296HDPN) from Lowe's and the dispenser is not working right. It locks itself and then no matter how many times I try, it does not unlock, which means no cold water, crushed ice or whole ice. This panel will stay locked for a week or two and then unlock on its own. The lower drawer or crisper came cracked and one of the shelves where the ice maker is located has a thin line crack also. I work and have to take a full day for a repair and when I called them, they gave me a work order number. If they call back and I don't pick up, they cancel it, so I called in for another one. So I have two work orders, and they told me the repair person is waiting on parts.

Now someone named Brittany says that it's cosmetic and they do not do cosmetic. I asked to speak with a supervisor and they say I have to wait for an hour. A malfunctioning dispenser for me is not cosmetic, not on a $3,000 refrigerator that will be a year old in August. I have explained this over and over again when I called and when the technicians called now, they asked me if it's locked, call then when it is. Well, I have on two occasions and they have not reacted. I wish they would put this on their refrigerators. If panel malfunctions, it's cosmetic. I asked if there was a way to reset it and there is none but unplugging it which I have tried and it does not work. It will be two months that I have been trying to fix this. Luckily, we purchased a home warranty, and they fixed it.

Then, the freezer fan is squealing. He was able to grease that out as well. Now, the freezer was freezing up again. It's something about the defroster cycle not working. I had to get a new motherboard. Also, the ice maker stopped working, and I had to replace the ice-making unit. This is a bad product. I checked the class action lawsuit, and my model is not covered. Samsung RS265TDBP broken 2 different ways in 2 years - On the surface, this is a great refrigerator. It's pretty, it's very quiet, it's energy efficient and the ice maker fits nicely in the door, giving you more useful space in the freezer.

Unfortunately, despite the price tag, it's of very inferior quality (and I’ve seen more of the insides of this fridge than I’ve ever wanted to). The ice maker broke just before the 2-year mark (about $80 to buy a new one and install it yourself, although stores have trouble keeping them in stock, they break so fast) and not long after I got that done, the fridge starts making ugly noises, and then gets warm, above 55 degrees (freezer is still ice cold). I took the refrigerator cooling unit apart and removed huge chunks of ice to get it going again. But the refrigerator seems to be permanently messed up now (common problem if you Google, "Samsung refrigerator not staying cold") and it won't get below about 44 degrees in the fridge.

I'm abandoning this $1,200 piece of junk after barely 2 years of service and buying a refrigerator from a reputable brand. I can't see spending another dime on it because research (and personal experience) seems to show that if I pay to fix it, it will probably just break again down the line.

Refrigerator temp is not keeping things cold enough - We purchased a refrigerator (rsg257aars) in Dec 2011. From the beginning, I noticed food smells when I opened the refrigerator door. I adjusted the temp all the way to 34 degrees to see if that would help. Finally, I put a digital thermometer in the fridge to see what temp it registered and it was between 42 and 43 . We put two more thermometers to double check and they also read 43. We called for repair and he told me I can't use analog thermometers to check. I asked him to check himself and he only had a laser one and he warned me that it would register 15 or 20 degrees higher. However, he assured me that my refrigerator was working fine.

I called Samsung and told them, "I need another repairman; do not send me the same person." On 2/28/12, I was speaking with Steve, who told me he was my "personal service advocate" and he would make sure he sent someone else and he said it was "going to work". So while we were having dinner, the repairman rang the bell and lo and behold, it was the exact same person. This time, my husband spoke to him and tried to explain the problem. The repairman could not figure out the problem.

Of course I called for a third time and that repairman called Samsung and between the two of them on the speaker phone, they decided it was the sensor. We had to wait a week for the sensor to be delivered and after the sensor was installed, I asked if he had to check if it worked and he said "no, it is working" and he left. About a half hour later, when I checked the temp, it hadn't improved. I called Steve and left a message and he never called me. Then a woman left her number to verify if the repair work was done and I called her and there hasn't been a callback.

Bottom line is, my refrigerator is not working and my next step is to blog or do a YouTube on how poor the service of Samsung is. I called to speak to a supervisor today and they said there wasn't a supervisor available, so they will request a callback. Something has to be done!

We've owned this fridge since 3/29/10. We've had nothing but problems with it ever since. Every time there's a power failure in our area, the digital panel needs to be reset, which has been a difficult process to accomplish. Last June, our freezer started making loud rattling type noise. I had to have the Defrost Sensor replaced as it was faulty and causing excess ice to build up on the fan in the interior of the freezer. Well, now the freezer is doing the very same thing. I called Samsung again last night expressing my frustration and dissatisfaction with this fridge that's only two years old! Since my unit is out of warranty, they originally told me there was nothing they could do about it.

I told them that's what I was told last June when I called with the freezer issue and at that time, I was given a warranty extension and the repair was made free of charge. This time, after insistence on my end, I was offered again a free repair or a refund prorated of my purchase price. I chose the refund since I've had enough with the issues with this fridge. I paid $899.99 for the fridge on sale from Sears, it was originally $1299.99. I was offered a prorated refund of $719.99, which reflects a 10% depreciation for each year of ownership. I said, "I think Samsung should stand behind their product and give me a full refund of my purchase price since this fridge has been brought with issues for the last 2 years." I was told a prorated refund was my best option.

I now am waiting for the refund check to come in the mail and then go shopping for another fridge. I will never ever buy any Samsung products again. Once I have my new fridge in place, I then have to cut the power cord off my fridge and mail that and the serial number sticker from the interior of the fridge back to Samsung. Their refrigerators should not be allowed to be sold any where.

This is a follow up to a previous complaint I had with a Samsung French door refrigerator model # RF267ABRS. We had found our food thawed in the freezer part even though temp reading was at -2 F. I searched the web and found a repair tip to pull out unit and remove back cover. I did this and found that the coils were covered in lint and dog hair, we have dogs. The fan blade to cool the coils was also dirty and the water sump was full.

I vacuumed as much of the build-up I could out of there, then unplugged the unit and used a small air compressor I have for sport balls and tires to blow out as much dust from the coils as I could. I then carefully cleaned off the fan blades with hot water and dish soap, with a sponge. The blades are plastic so I took my time. It will make a mess to clean up, but it should probably be done yearly, spring cleaning (Mine is about 3 years old and most complaints come after 2 years).

I also removed the water from the drip pan under the coil with the small wet/dry vac I used. I plugged the unit back in and put the cover back. The freezer seems to be working. I will buy a thermometer to put in there to keep an eye on it as I do not trust the readout on the fridge itself. The site I used also said I should remove all items from the unit and let it sit unplugged with all doors open for 24 hours. This is to clear any drains blocked with ice. This will only work if you have a second refrigerator to put your food in to keep cold, which I do not. My issue is that there should be an error code on the readout of the unit that instructs a cleaning of the coils is due yearly, since this is a $2,500.00 unit!

After two years, my Samsung SRS594HNSS two-door fridge started to freeze over on the left inside vent. It stopped working shortly after. I had the fridge for 2 1/2 years. When I contacted Samsung, who put me on to their agent, he installed a kit which cost me with labor $AU250. It took five weeks for the kit to come and it was over two months before the job was done. The fridge is now freezing over again. Samsung said it was out of warranty. I told Samsung that no one would buy an expensive fridge that would only last 2 1/2 years. It has been four months now since I contacted Samsung and their agent and the fridge is now 2 years and ten months old.

I rang Samsung and they said the kit was under warranty and to call their agent again. The agent wants to charge me all over again for the labor. The agent for Samsung said that he had installed lots of these kits and never had any trouble, which makes me think it is a fault in the fridge. Samsung said it wasn't. Why the kit then? The complaints department staff were courteous and helpful. I realize it is not their fault, but a company policy. I had to buy another fridge during the hot Australian summer while waiting for the repair to be done. I am disappointed with Samsung as I have bought their products before including an expensive washing machine. I won't be buying any Samsung products from now on if they don't do the right thing by me.

I bought the Samsung French Doors/Bottom Freezer in June 13, 2011 (Model RF266AEPN/XAA). The first repair came in December 2011. Control panel was iced. The refrigerator was not cooling. In fact, temperature control showed 68 degrees! Then there was the issue of the freezer door. You had to forcefully open it, as though the side rails that supported the freezer seem to lock, preventing the door to open. Then once opened, it had to be forcefully closed.

Now, it's happening again. Refrigerator is losing its cool. It just so happened that I kept the old Amana in the garage. I've had to transfer the items from the Samsung to the Amana. I called BrandsMart USA on Friday, March 16, 2012, where it was purchased since it is still under warranty. They set up for someone to contact me on Monday, March 19, 2012. I am going to look into whether I can return it to BrandsMart USA. The first time it was repaired, the Samsung repairman said they were having issues with these refrigerators. I am going to check with my legal plan to see what can be done. I will not purchase a Samsung anything again.

Samsung and the dealer, Omni electronics, refused to fix the unit, or give a refund. It’s such a huge disappointment! We called the 800# and were told to unplug for 10 minutes and that it would reset. We plugged it back in and it did not fix the problem. I called the 1-800-Samsung number again and was told, "Sorry, your 1 year warranty was up in September." So my 1-1/2 year old refrigerator cost me $421.58 to fix. They had to replace the main board. Even though the back of the refrigerator is sealed, and the warranty says it covers sealed parts, we were told that it didn't include the fans. We were referred to a repair company and were told it would cost us approximately $375 to repair. We looked at reviews on this website and became extremely upset.

Not only is this a common defect for this refrigerator, repairs have failed, having the same problem reappear. Why can't something be done to protect the consumer. I will never buy another Samsung product, plus I read that Samsung is owned by Maytag. What do we do? We've purchased many, many items at Lowe's, where we bought these items. I had purchased the fridge, their stove, dishwasher, and microwave all from Sears in Chesterfield, MO. I spent a lot of money. The French-door fridge with bottom-mount freezer was the most expensive piece. I wish I would have looked at the complaints on their products before purchasing.

The customer service said only that "We are so sorry." over and over but that they will send a repair at their convenience and I will have to pay. "it is out of warranty," they added. I said Samsung must know their product will surely fail after the first year is out. Again, I was told "I am so sorry. Would you like to schedule a repairman?"

Please, if anyone is even remotely considering a product of Samsung, rethink it. The beautiful stainless steel dents so easily and will only last shortly after your warranty is up. Ice maker control displays are constantly showing "off". On 29 Feb 2012, the freezer ice maker is noted as not working.

1 Mar 2012, Samsung support contacted. The support tech doesn't comprehend the spoken word as spoken. Multiple attempts were made before tech could comprehend the word "malfunctioning" and "erroneous" display. I was advised to make sure "the water valve in the wall was on", despite not having one. I was advised to reset the ice maker, which was done, and then was told to make sure the control shows ice maker not locked, which can't be done with piece of crap Chinese display that is malfunctioning. I was advised that the water filter might be clogged, despite good flow from the dispenser. The tech was obviously reading off a check list, and has no clue.

I was informed that the warranty is only 1 year, but they would contact a repair tech if I would have to pay for myself. One year? Seriously? We handed out $1,800.00 for a fridge with a one year warranty, that is essentially useless after less than two years.

If the repair bill is over $300, it's going in the dump. I am done with Samsung and their Chinese made trash period. I get better service, support and warranty out of a pair of $100 boots.

The freezer side of my side by side refrigerator/freezer started making a really weird electronic vibration-like noise. I finally emptied my ice maker and the shelving and saw that the ventilation vents in the back of the freezer were frozen shut. I imagine that the interior of the fan area was also frozen, so I had to empty the freezer and unplug the refrigerator and let the freezer side thaw to room temp so that the vents would thaw and allow the fan blades to turn without obstruction. I did not have the energy saver mode on. The ice in the ice makers was 'snow' and the 'snow' had drifted outside the container box and down the back of the ice maker as well. I lost a whole day thawing the freezer and cleaning up melting ice. I am hoping that the 'thaw' process will mean that there is no permanent damage to my 1.5 yr old unit, but a new unit like this should not be causing me issues like this. It appears as though the rear of the freezer is freezing up as the fan is now making a noise. The noise comes and goes as the fan blade chips away at the ice buildup. I called Samsung and they suggested lowering the freezer temp to the lowest setting. After doing some research, it certainly appears that the coils are freezing up and the fan is hitting the ice. I also assume at some point the fan will fail leaving my refrigerator useless like it has for so many other consumers.

Apparently there is not a fix for this? Many people have spent hundreds of dollars replacing coils then the problem comes back. I also see that a class action suit has been filed because of this problem. Samsung needs to address this issue that they apparently were aware of when selling the refrigerators.

The entire contents were warm to the touch, so it must have been off for some time before I noticed it. I was forced to throw away hundreds of dollars worth of food. No one is open on Christmas. I had a house filled with hungry people and a refrigerator filled with rotten seafood. The only place we could find to eat was a Chinese restaurant (it was like a bad rerun of the movie a “Christmas Story”) till it was all said and done I ended up paying almost $400 at the restaurant.

I called Samsung and they said they would send a repairman over but not for two weeks. I take off work the day of the appointment (I work second shift and the repair shop would only give me an 8-5 window); the guy never shows. When I contact the repair shop they apologize and then tell me he wasn't coming to fix it, he was only going to look at it and that he would have to order parts. Once the parts came I would have to schedule another appointment to have it fixed. I explain I can’t keep taking off work and the woman on the phone assures me that she can get a repairman to make me his first stop of the day. On the day of the appointment I waited all morning and finally had to leave for work just before 2:00. The repairman calls me at 2:30 and gives me an attitude for not being there. At this point I call Samsung again asking for another repair company. I am informed this company is the least busy and if I get another company it will take even longer.

I made another appointment and wait all morning and you guessed it, the repairman shows up again after I have already left. At this point I am furious. I call Sears, the place where I purchased it, and they send a guy out that same week. It ends up being an entire board that is dead (part # da41-00404e). The repairman tells me it would take him 5 minutes to fix it but Samsung does not let them keep parts on hand, they have to be ordered. More waiting. I had an appointment today and the repairman replaced the board and also found a fan that was bad (couldn't tell it was bad until the board was replaced). To add injury to insult the fan also had to be ordered but it was back-ordered.

That coupled with having to make another appointment once the part gets here means I won’t have a fridge until the middle to end of next month! I have a child that lives here part-time who has special needs. I have medicines that need to be refrigerated as well as very expensive formulas. I have been keeping them at the neighbor down the street house but this is very difficult to say the least especially when it comes to feedings in the middle of the night.

This is an update to my previous post on my 3 and 1/2 year old fridge that quit working. I filled out a form from the Samsung site on the issue with the fridge and got a stock *received* form type letter back on the 18th. There was no mention of repairs, how to handle the problem, or if they were going to do anything. When I was on their website, it said the fridge was out of warranty and when I searched for appliance repair dealers, I got 0 results back. After reading pages of complaints all over the web with the same issues (bad ice makers, and the cooling issue), we decided we would not throw good money after bad in trying to fix it. We bought a new top rated GE (which will be delivered next month as we wanted a very specific model) and on 12-23, Lowes hauled the broken Samsung off (to the dump I guess).

After the fridge was gone, later that evening, we get a UPS delivery of an envelope with a generic return address. We have no idea who sent it, instructions, nothing but a part; a temperature sensor that plugged into something. So I google the address and find its a Sears warehouse. I call them and they look up the order number and say it's a Samsung part. So, I get a temp sensor, no idea it was even being sent from Samsung who when I look at my account online with my complaint, says the action was cancelled by **me** on 12-18.

To say this whole thing has been frustrating is a big understatement. In fact, I am not sure a new sensor would have even fixed the problem from what I have been reading all over the internet.

We purchased a refrigerator, flat top stove and microwave in 1/2009. The refrigerator has had an ongoing problem with a loud buzzing sound when the unit comes on. I have called Lowes and Samsung (2.5 hours this morning with Samsung) and I have been told that because my warranty has expired they (Samsung executive customer service) told that there was not anything they could do to offset the repair costs if it is repairable. My first call this morning to Samsung resulted in having an incident number assigned to the call and they gave me a local repair service to call.

I made the call and the person who I talked to (repair) informed me that it could be a number of different problems and that it could cost me up to $300.00 to possibly fix (no guarantee). Service said, sorry, we can't help you. I will never buy any Samsung product again. I replaced a refrigerator that was working fine and this one is a piece of trash. The stoves LED readout is going out but that can be a simple fix. But this refrigerator is unacceptable.

I bought model RS267 LBSH side by side in May 08 from Lowe's. Right off, the ice maker never worked properly and we were blown off by repair (it never dispensed cubed ice and will block up with big chunks). Digital temperature reading seemed to be off. At times, things in the freezer were frozen rock hard and at other times almost soft. Reading the complaints, we should have bought an in fridge temp checker as I know the temps were fluctuating a lot although the in door reading showed a constant 0 and 38 degrees. Today, the unit quit cooling, but the door temps still read normal. We would not have known until the next morning except that hubby went into the freezer for a popsicle and they were melting.

We threw stuff in the chest freezer, and put fridge stuff outside since it's in the 30s here right now. I tried all the troubleshooting (what little I could find) from the Samsung site and nothing worked. After going through the complaint, I feel lucky we got 3 1/2 years before the 60 degree mark. Now, I'm trying to decide whether to trash our good looking but problem prone fridge and buy another. I'm not sure I want to pay for iffy repairs if we can even find anyone here that will work on them. It's the first time I have ever had a major appliance quit working like that so young in its age. This makes me never want to buy another Samsung product again. So I'm now researching for more reliable fridge brands.

This past weekend my daughter was getting ice out of the freezer. My 14-month old son walked over to the side. She shut the freezer and my son let out this blood curdling scream. My husband scooped him up and there was blood everywhere. We realized something serious had happened. His finger tip had been cut off. We had to get his finger tip out of the side rail and rush him to the E.R. where he was then transported to the children's hospital to reattach his finger tip.

Unfortunately, his little finger was so small that they could not attach it. It was cut off clean at the joint above his knuckle. His little hand is maimed. It will never look normal. It was incredibly traumatizing for my husband and I. In a million years, we would never think a freezer drawer would pose as a danger in amputating a finger. This is beyond a faulty product. 7, yes, 7 Samsung fridges since May 2011 and not one has lasted. Tried side by sides and moved all the way up to 4 high-end French door models on sale for half price due to holidays. I can see why they can sell these lemons for so cheap, because they are junk. Nothing but major issue after major issue. Samsung could care less. My retailer was good, but even they kept saying “no way you could get so many defective fridges.” Oh, yes, I can and did. I have the service records to prove it; not that that means much considering every technician was clueless with no idea how to fix it. So they just try one or two things and when it doesn’t fix anything, they just say: “Defective, can’t be fixed.” And of course that’s only if they actually show up for the scheduled service call.

Personally, I think Samsung should pull every model fridge they sell off of store shelves and should not be allowed to sell these obvious lemons to the public unless they learn how to make a fridge that works and one that can be fixed if something goes wrong. Why won’t the gov't step in and stop Samsung immediately? Makes no sense that our governing bodies will not or have not yet, stepped in to the picture and make Samsung recall all fridges until they prove they can make a reliable fridge. Samsung’s are lemons, plain and simple, and should not be allowed to be sold to consumers in the U.S. If other countries want Samsung lemons, then that is their choice; but here in the USA, no way should they be allowed to sell these inferior lemons! Never will I ever go near any Samsung product ever again. Was actually looking at a new Samsung HD TV, but no way will I support Samsung or give them another penny of my money ever!

Hey, Samsung refer owners most of your issues revolve around 2 things. The motherboard which is mounted on the back is prone to have its component connectors vibrate off during transit or moving into place and the other is that the wires slip out of the connectors when they are plugged in during assembly. Unacceptable for a large company like Samsung, but easy to fix and if they spent $50 more dollars on better connectors, vibrate test the unit and train the service reps including sending out a service alert, this website would not exist. So unplug the refer, uncover the component cover and check each connection when you here a click you fix it. If you are uncomfortable with electricity have a repair person check for you.

Even their authorized repair centers say they won't work on Samsung appliances anymore because Samsung won't reimburse them for mileage for the numerous trips it takes to repair a Samsung product, extreme difficulty obtaining parts, and Samsung is an extremely slow payer. Samsung is horrible! I purchased a Samsung Bottom Mount Freezer in April of 2010 from Sears. I was told that it was rated five stars by Consumer Reports. "Best fridge out there" for my price range, according to the sales guy. In August of 2011, my freezer section was heating up. To make a long story short, Samsung told me to deal with it since it has a one year warranty and they don't know how long their appliances last. I called every repair man in my area but no one will work on Samsung because they are so hard to deal with and get parts for.

I ended up with Sears Home Appliance Repair. They are the only ones willing to work on this product. Three weeks later and $500.00 worth of meat spoiled, I get the guy to my house only to find out that my condenser and compressor are broken and heating up. Did I mention that I was also getting water in the fridge part under the cold cut drawer, which apparently was caused by a clogged drain line? Really. How does all this happen to a brand new fridge? It takes two weeks to get my parts only to find out that they were already broken when I received them.

Another two weeks later, my fridge parts come in. Get this. The freezer section caught on fire as soon as the parts were put in by their "certified" technician. He soldered through my firewall and burnt out the whole bottom of my freezer. I am told that Samsung and/or Sears will replace the unit for free and that the fridge section is okay to use since the repairman took out all the bad parts.

Two days later, the fridge caught on fire again. Luckily, I was home to throw it out my front door at 8 o'clock on a Sunday night. My house smells like smoke, all my food is destroyed, and the service woman on the phone had the ** to tell me that I should be grateful that I was offered $500.00 in a voucher to Sears towards a new appliance since their service man did not want to do the job anyway. It took me six days of nonstop phone calls to customer service to get my money back--a full refund.

If I did not take three hours a day out of my life to hound every person, I would still be waiting for those people to review my case. All I expect is a product that works longer than one year, is that so bad? And if, for some reason, beyond my control, that appliance stops working, is it wrong to ask for a fair treatment and a full refund to replace it? I had to work hard to get these "Customer Service" people to treat me like I was a customer. My advice is do not give up. Make them see that they can't keep doing this and get away with it.

I am done with any Samsung appliance and I am done with shopping at Sears. They are unfair, rude and thieves. I am happy to get my money back so I can go buy a Frigidaire. They cost a little more but they work. I was fooled by the fancy lights and options. Now, I am going back to simple clean and reliable. Don't buy Samsung. If I wasn't home, what would have happened to my house when the fridge caught on fire? Buyers, beware! They don't care about you; they care about your money!

I purchased a refrigerator cooling fan on Lowe's Hardware. My Samsung refrigerator has had problems with its ice maker and cooling fan. The model is a bottom freezer with double doors.

We purchased our Samsung refrigerator model # RFG297AAPN, the really large, 2 door bottom freezer.

We had ice maker problems right away. The ice comes out and sprays as the shoot is very large and the ice seems to build up somewhere and when you ask for ice you get quite a bit of water. Samsung sent out a repair tech who replaced the ice maker. It still does the same thing. We have had water build up and freeze under the bins. We have a home warranty that covers the refrigerator but not the ice maker. They fixed the leak but the ice maker still gives water with ice. It is a large refrigerator which is great but customer service at Samsung is hard to deal with.
