We like our Safe Step tub. The installation was pretty good and the crew was really nice. We like sitting down in the tub and being in that much water. The handheld part where you can wash your hair with it while you're sitting down is really nice. The shower part feels really nice, too. The tub's just a little bit too narrow for me.

When the sales rep came out, he did a good presentation. I like the grab bars and I love the jets on the tub. I took pictures and showed it to a couple of family members and friends. They were glad I got it. My heart only works about 20% so when standing up in the old shower, my husband had to get in with me and soap me off and shampoo my hair. It wore me out. I thought it would be a lot better if I could sit down. But right now, I can only sit in it for 10 minutes. I'm hoping I'll get more used to it. I wish the seat was padded though.

I talked to Nick who works for Safe Step, there was an appointment setup for the 13 Jul 2022. My sister had setup the appointment for my mom, but when he called my sister to verify the appointment he was so rude to her, my sister told him maybe his company was not for us. My sister was so upset she called me. I called him to make sure that maybe there might be a misunderstanding. There was no misunderstanding, he was very rude to me right at the start. I told him, we don’t need to deal with him or his company. I suggest anyone wanting a product that Safe Step sells, to look elsewhere!

The salesman was very friendly and answered all of our questions. He gave us a few days to think about it where others that we talked to wanted to do it right away. The installation was very quick. I was surprised that there were two guys. They were here at 8 o'clock in the morning and gone by 4:30, and it was done. They cleaned up everything and it was great. I love the tub. The thing I like best about it is I could just sit in it. I've had knee surgeries and back problems. I can get the water level up over my knees and lower back, and just sit there. The only thing I would change if I could somehow, and I don't know how, is the design of the entrance door. It's kind of in the way. Once you get in, you got to swirl around behind it to close it.

A gentleman by the name of John came out and when we saw the products, they looked pretty decent. John was very professional. He showed us all the parts and how well made they were, and he had a good spiel. But he never showed us a picture of the tub. I had a Jacuzzi tub but I'm in my 80s and I have trouble getting out of the tub. So I told him that I was looking for something I can get into and take a nice, hot soak. He went on about everything then gave us the information on the cost, which was a little over the top. Then, he told me the tub would be delivered to me within six to eight weeks. We met him on the 24th of February and I got a call telling me this tub would be installed on March 10th, which was way too soon because I expected it to be mid-April.

Then, I got a notice on April 4th from the permit department of Yavapai County saying I needed to go in to their site and get my permit so the job could be posted before the installation. But I told them that the tub had been installed already. So the issue here is the construction company, Cavalier Construction Company. They got the permit to install the tub but they didn't submit a drawing or blueprint on how it should be installed.

Now, I had an existing tub which I asked for to be removed and for the Safe Step to be placed in that same spot. But John told me that they couldn't place it that way and they needed to reverse it. In my mind, if you change the existing drainage, you need county approval. But Cavalier did not get Yavapai County approval to change the drainage. Consequently, Cavalier Construction came in on the 10th, pulled out my old tub, and carted it away. They had two men working here all day and they had my master bathroom sealed off completely with plastic tape so I couldn't see anything that was going on.

When everything was finalized, they called me in to look at the tub and I didn't realize that there was an issue. With my Jacuzzi tub, the side of it was a flat surface, but the Safe Step has two openings. One that's held with a little magnet, that narrow strip, and the access panel was blocked because it was butted up to the wall of our vanity in the bathroom.

On the 16th of June, the inspector, Brent, came in to inspect what was done and when he looked over everything, he told me the job is a failure. He commented that they must provide a dedicated 20 amp circuit to breaker panel with breaker identified and that an open tapping into an existing outlet supplied by a 14-2 wire is not allowed. So Cavalier piggybacked the electrical on me and didn't do it properly. His other comment was that they were unable to verify equipment bonding and that the tub must be located as to allow the removal of the access panel and have enough room to service the equipment. I've been working back and forth now between Sierra, the construction lady who oversees everybody, and the senior inspector from Yavapai County, about this. When I talked to the owner of Cavalier, Nick, he said there was no problem. He stated that the tub can be pulled out if work needed, or have the back slab removed.

The representative that came out gave an excellent presentation to me and my husband. He worked with us, waiting for us to get approved for our credit, which we did. They put a $1,000 down payment and we were supposed to put another $1,000. But the rep said, “No, everything's set for the payment.” Then we didn't start paying it until after the tub was installed, which was great. So it was able to get me to prepare for that month it started. Safe Step also asks medical questions in reference to high blood pressure, which I have. So they do go through the list of things and when they check that off, it gives you a discount on that purchase.

The installation took almost all day. But they didn't have issues with putting in the tub. My husband works all day on his legs and he's 66. We have the jets with the tub so when he comes home, I tell him to go in the tub. He said, “If you turn the knob just on legs, it gets the back of your calves,” where he feels like he needs it. It's nice to have the safety of being able to sit down in the tub and not have to stand up. I have a bad knee on the left, and I have a bad foot on the right. I have an unsteady gait. With this tub, you can sit down or stand up when you want. We are enjoying our walk-in tub. It's good.

We need to get them to show me how to do the buttons on the tub again because I couldn't remember everything the installer said. When you press the automatic drain button, it does not work. It did work, but now it doesn't. You can move the thing by itself. However, it’s tension. I called for a service call last week and Safe Step called me but I have not received a call from the company who's supposed to come out and check it. We also got an issue with the lights. But my husband said the lights are working now. Other than that, the tub is functional. But for $20,000, I want my tub to work 100%. It was a lot of money.

I had a very simple conversation with Safe Step's sales rep and the installation was very rapid, though the tub wasn't working for quite a while. They thought it was a pump, they thought it was the switch. Finally, they determined that the electricians installed the wrong circuit breaker. It has been repaired now and the tub is working. I like that I can get in and out of it pretty easily and I have no problems with Safe Step, though I believe the original electricians were not really qualified to do their work.

Safe Step's salesperson came out and did an excellent job of selling me on the walk-in tub. But there are a couple of things that I haven't heard from anybody since they installed. Other than that, the installers were very proficient and they did an excellent job. Everybody’s been extremely professional. I paid $19,500 for my Safe Step and it's a big investment. At the time I got it, I was debating whether to upgrade my truck or get something for my back. I'm glad that I got the Safe Step and I like the jets on it that are on my lower back.

But I have a 40-gallon hot water heater, which is only a year-and-a-half old, and it's not big enough because I run out of hot water about 10 gallons before I can start the thing working right. I've worked a way around this hot water problem though. I get all the hot water in, then I use the handheld shower, and I get nice and clean. Then I turn the heater on. It takes about 10 minutes and I can get more hot water. I also told my wife when I'm using it to not wash dishes or the clothes. But she can flush the toilet since that’s cold water.

Aside from that, the brochure that Safe Step gave me is for an older model. I got the rain shower way up top and I got the handheld shower, and all the instructions I have on that doesn't have those two items. And there are a couple of things that I don't know what they are, like the micro. I’ve got to call the main headquarters and see if they have an updated brochure because if you can operate this tub, you can fly a plane. It’s got a lot of features but there are only three that I don't know what they're for. My wife thinks she does, but the other day, she flooded the bathroom because she forgot to lock the door in.

The salesperson told me so many different lies, it wasn’t even funny. He told me that my water heater would be just fine, but it's not. When I complained that I couldn’t fill up the tub to utilize the jets because I couldn’t get enough water, he said, “Well, how big is it?” I told him and he said, “Well, that should be fine. Maybe you need to have a plumber come out and look at the elements.” I said, “I’ve only lived in this house three months, it’s a new-build.” The person that came out that did the repairs said, “He lied to you. There is no way a 45-gallon water heater is enough to fill the tub up with hot water.” So here I am with this tub that I can’t use the jets unless I buy a bigger hot water heater.

When the little part that covers the hinge on the door fell off, Safe Step sent someone out to fix it. Also, the drain thing had to be replaced. We did that and it’s working. But now, another hinge fell off and I haven’t called them because it gets me all upset. The salesperson also told me that in no uncertain terms would Medicare pay for any walk-in tub, which is not true. The tub is extremely overpriced. It probably is a very good product, but there are others that are equally as good that you could get some help from Medicare. But I enjoy using the tub. I just can’t use the jets because I can’t fill it up. If that part worked, I would be happy. But I should have shopped around and got something cheaper.

But I wish I would have had an extra grab bar installed. The guy asked me at the time if I needed another one and I wish I would have told him, yes, but I didn't. The salesman sold Safe Step with a good pitch, but I'm not real happy with it. The tub has leaked ever since I've had it. I've had them out and I've called and called, and I called three weeks ago. I told the girl, “Hey, look. You told me to pop the button out and I went by the instructions. Well, the top of it broke off.” She said, “Well, we're gonna have to come out and service it, and it's gonna be $179.” One reason I bought it was that there was a lifetime warranty on the tub. But now they want $179 to go out and service it. I don't understand. The tub cost 18,000 and I've only taken a bath in it about 10 times in the past eight months. It shouldn't be leaking. I should be having better results than what I'm getting.

I like the water working as far as aerating. It's good for the massage. But I've never got the aroma therapy to work. I talked to them all about it but I never got any results. They sent me another one of the little containers that had the aroma in it, and I put it but I couldn't smell anything when I'm taking a bath. I can't even smell it. To me, the aroma does not work. If I don’t get any results this week, I'm seriously thinking about taking some action.

Additionally, the salesman said our water heater would handle it but we've got to upgrade our water heater. The sales rep was good and I liked him. My mother enjoys the tub but there are a couple of things that could have been done differently. The caulking doesn't seal well and I'm gonna have problems on my wall behind this. It should have been a one piece that comes up the wall and it's not. It looked good when it was done. But as soon as the water and a body is in there and there's weight, it separates.

The installers came back here and they caulked it again but I'm still having the same issue. They came in, we filled up the tub and they caulked it with the water in it so it had some weight, and they thought that would do it. It's still the same thing though. It still separated. So, I'll just be careful with the water splashing there. But it's hard to wipe it down all the time. The installers were saying there's not much they can do with the caulking. I spent all this money and there's gonna be water in the walls. So, there's going to be some type of mold and eventually, there's gonna be an issue. But I would recommend Safe Step. They did a very good service by putting it in. The tub works well and my mother likes it.

They came in and looked at the area. I was ready to drape off the bedroom but they said I didn’t need to do that. They said they could drape my bed if I would like, and I said they could. They draped the bed very nicely with plastic although it wasn’t necessary. They got to work and it had it done in half a day. They took out our tub and shower unit. It was very professional, quiet and they cleaned up after themselves. It was a good experience.

My mom uses the tub and she talks about it every time she gets out of it. She doesn't use a whole lot of other features except the air jets every now and then. She still says it’s chilly waiting for it to fill up but she's right next to the water heater so the water coming in is warm when it gets to her tub and she enjoys it. She has always liked to soak in a tub and it was just getting more hazardous for her to step into that tub-shower unit. So, it's been a good situation all around. She enjoys it. She'll soak for a little bit and then let the water out and then shower and wash her hair, which is good. It's much quicker for her and it's much safer, and we're pleased because of that. Safe Step has taken a lot of worry off me. My mom still gets around well and does well with most things, so at first, she said she didn’t need it. But now that she's got it, she likes it and thinks positive things after every bath.

We love Safe Step. My husband can take a bath every day, which he couldn't before at all. And I couldn't get out of those regular ones anymore, either. So it's wonderful. The handle fell off right away and they had a service person within the next day. He put it back on and he also saw something else that maybe the installers didn't put in right, so he did that. He said he would be calling me in a bit. I like the lifetime guarantee, I hope every time something goes wrong, I could call them, because I'm old. I don’t know what to do with it if something goes wrong. You can buy the walk-in tub at Lowe's but you don't have the electricians and the installation people, and they don't put them in.

The salesman was terrific. He was good, social and fun to talk to. So, the whole thing was very good and the serviceman was this adorable young guy. I wanted something good and we need the bath. We you get this age, it’s like, “Wow! That’s neat!” You can do your hair and I liked the micro thing. We have scabies on our skin and after everything is said, we love the tub. I'm very pleased.

I saw the tub a very long time before purchasing it because of the price. But at the time, I had a bad knee and I couldn't climb in and over the tub that I had. So, I decided this was the product that I needed to get in and out. But I'm sorry that I made the investment. I’m not happy with the tub. There are several reasons why I'm not. I'm not comfortable with it and there are things that are not working correctly. The water that goes into the tub, by the time it gets up to the level where you can turn the jet on, it’s not as hot as I would like it to be because there's some kind of a control in the tub that only allows the water to be 104 degrees. So, the man's coming over today to check that to see if it is 104. Because I don't think it reaches 104. I want it to be hotter and there's nothing I can do on my end. It's very upsetting to me. Because when I get in my tub, normally, I can make the water hotter or colder just by turning the knob. I can’t do that with this.

You’re supposed to press the electric panel there for the automatic drain. It wouldn't open up the drain so I have to sit there and hold the manual drain open until the tub drains. The gal who’d been working with me has been very helpful and accommodating, and the man is coming today to try to resolve that. I bought the tub and I'm gonna have to use it. But if I had to do it over again, at this point in time, I would not.

I got three different companies that I set up appointments with. At the end of listening to their sales pitch, I liked the combination of qualities that Safe Step had the best. The installer came and it was done. The tub was clean. My only complaint is in the tile on the wall where the old grab bar was, they left the screws in the wall, which is a little unsightly.

Also, my hot water tank was a little too small. They judged that wrong. I can’t fill up the tub with really nice warm water. Dennis was my salesman and he is arranging for a guy to come and do some sort of hot water fix. The guy was supposed to arrive the Sunday before. He says he called me but he didn't call me at the time that he said he was going to call me. I wasn't in the house and I didn't hear his phone call. He phoned me later saying that he had called me. Now he couldn't come. He was supposed to come yesterday.

He phoned today, saying that he phoned me several times. He said the telephone rang but I never heard it ring. We set a time that he will show up, which is for this coming Saturday. Other than that, I like the features of the tub particularly the little bubbles. That was the main selling point for me. It's just relaxing and comfortable. This tub has given me pleasure. Safe Step is a very good product and it was very professionally installed.

I'm a diabetic with neuropathy and I would have to go across town to do and pay for the exercises I do in the tub. Before, my legs were just healing on the outside, not the inside. From the very beginning to the end, the gentleman who came to get the information and to measure for the installation was absolutely fantastic. He told us exactly what to expect and when to expect it. It was a flawless installation. I could not have asked for a better group of people.

When I first got it ordered, I ordered the tan or bone-colored step-in tub. Four days later, I was in my bathtub and I thought, "Whatever possessed me to order a tan tub." I called my original guy that sold it and I asked him if it was possible to change it to white. He thought it was not too late and that he would verify and then send me an amendment to the contract. I waited but nobody ever called me, so I was not sure if it was ever gonna be white. But when the lady called to let me know what date exactly it was being installed, I asked her, "Is it by any chance white?" She said, "Oh, yes, it's white." Other than that, everything was perfectly fine.

I called Safe Step and the reps came out and assessed what they could do. They were perfect as far as telling us what we're going to have and how they're going to do it. They came in when they said they would be here and they came in with their crew. They took out the shower which we had in there. They even had to take parts of the doorframe off but you wouldn't know it. Everything is perfect. The tub fits right exactly where the shower was. They never touched my vanity place at all and didn't have to move anything. It's exactly the way it was except it's brighter, clean and white. So, I changed the colors to light blue as far as the rug. When they were done, I couldn't be happier. I never dreamed that they would get this done in one day and they cleaned up. Everything is beautiful.

Safe Step are wonderful people to do business with and you get exactly what they say. Everything is spotless and you wouldn't even know they were here. They had a close up this window and put a wall. My husband is singing his praises all the time. He loves the place, which is a good addition to the house. My husband loves the walk-in tub. He's in it all the time. It’s got so many jets. It is a miracle how the jets hit the right spot, especially around the knees. So, he's enjoying it because he's perpetually outside. I'm handicapped and when I got hurt, he built a whole ramp for me out the back, but that meant putting a door on and railings out there, and he just never stops. I love a shower and I like to wash my hair in the shower and I'm all rinsed off. But my husband loves it because his legs are bothering him. So, this is the best thing we could have done. It's everything that people could possibly want.

We have a shower that has the regular glass door and I couldn’t help her really get into that. So, I got the Safe Step walk-in shower so that I can put her wheelchair right up to where she needed to be, and she could just get up, twist 90 degrees, and sit down on her shower stool. I really love it. Unfortunately, she never got a chance to use it.

For the walk-in tub, the first time their installers came out, they didn’t know what they were doing. They were talking about digging big holes in the wall to run the power down. I called the young lady that sold me the thing and she had a local crew that was available. They came out and did one small hole in the wall just to put a receptacle in. I've recommended them to several people. In fact, I asked for that same crew when I ordered the walk-in shower. They did an absolutely tremendous job. Everything was about as clean as I get around here. They left it as good as they found it.

We're having trouble with the drain. When you try to drain, it will stop up the tub. But when you try to drain it out, it doesn’t drain out. I called the name on the Safe Step brochure and she told me to pull the drain out and tighten up the screw a bit. I did and it worked a little bit. But then the maid came and she was cleaning the tub that we told her not to bother with, because we think it’s touchy. But she may have stepped on the drain and something happened there. It happened again when my husband got it in last night. He had trouble getting out of it.

I don’t like the tub that much. Once I get in it, it’s fine. It’s just getting in and out. It’s made for a thin person. My legs are just barely on the too fat side to squeeze in that door and close that door. But my husband seems to like it. He feels safer getting in and out of it. It’s easier for him because it’s so short and he’s a small man. However, every advertisement on the television says you get a free showerhead and $1,500 off. But we didn’t get $1,500 off. We paid $20,000 for that tub. But the men that put it in were very professional and fast. They didn’t take up our whole day. It was a nice-looking installation job.

I'm not very happy with Safe Step at all. We had it installed on April 1st, and up until a couple of weeks ago, I was only able to use the tub once. The pipe that was bringing the water in flooded the whole floor. It was not installed correctly. They finally got somebody out there and they fixed that part of it. But then because of being flooded and the water dripped for so long, the mechanism got all shorted out and that didn't work so we didn't have any heat in it and jets and nothing worked in it.

Somebody came in now and they fixed that. They put a whole brand new mechanism and then after that, you’re supposed to have this pump button that you push for a quick drain and that was broken. They said they fixed it, but they said, “Empty half the tub before you can use it.” What good is that? I sit there for about half an hour for it to drain before I can use the fast thing. I would never recommend it. We have well water here so it takes 35 minutes for the tub to fill up to be able to use the jets because it has to go up to a certain level to use the jets. It also takes too long to drain. You also have to have at least between a 40 and a 50-gallon hot water heater. They responded fairly quickly within an appropriate amount of time. But it's still not worth the $18,000 that we have to pay for it. The only good thing that I really enjoyed about the whole process was the salesperson, Blair. He was really nice.

The only thing I had a problem with is in the instructions, it says underneath the door is the white plastic plug. I take that out, make sure it’s clean, and put it back. However, there’s no way possible of putting that back. It doesn't go back once it’s out, so every time I go in, I have to be sure it’s sitting in there when I close the door or it will leak. My wife tried to help me put it back in and make sure it was stable, but it was loose. Other than that, we’re very happy with the tub. All I do when I get in it is I play with the buttons. If people really want a walk-in tub and can afford it, I would recommended they get a Safe Step.

One GFI services two bathrooms. They did not pull permits. They did not have their work inspected by the city. The general contractor's license was expired when work was performed.

The tub needs to be on a dedicated circuit. It is what I demanded, it was what was promised and stated as standard practice for them, and it is required by building code. You're gonna have to do it slowly. The door on the tub has that handle and it needs two clicks. It has one click, then you got to pull it a little harder. You have to force it. I wasn't aware of that and that was where we had the flood. The water came through the door.

We thought the Safe Step salesman was great when he came out to sell us the tub, but he was much less than great when I called him when they were installing it. They were having problems. The installers first installed it in the wrong place. When I went in to look at what they had done, I asked why was it so far away from the wall. It was not where it was supposed to be. It was supposed to be where the old tub was. They said my water lines come up above the floor, and the tub wouldn't sit on top of those water lines. I told them they've got to do something else because I didn't want the tub all the way out, that far away from the wall.

The installer called his supervisor and they were on the phone. Meanwhile, I called the salesman ad he was a totally different person. All of a sudden, our house was constructed poorly, and that was not his problem if we have lousy construction. He was gonna call the supervisor of the installers and see if they could come out and reconstruct our bathroom. He said, “We're not in the business of remodeling or reconstructing. We just install tubs.”

I told him I didn't want a remodel or reconstruction of my home. He sold me a tub that was supposed to fit in the space where the old bathtub was. It was not fitting in the space so I told him he could come and take the tub back. He said they couldn't do that. I told him they could pay for whatever it would cost to fix the installation so that it could be installed where he told me it was going to be installed. He kept repeating the same thing over and over again so we stopped dealing with him.

We dealt with the installers after that. I told the installer I didn't understand why they couldn't put the tub where it belonged. He said a metal bracket right there was stopping him from doing that. I told him to move the metal bracket. He said he'd have to get approval from his boss to do that which was what he ended up doing. This was after about two hours of my mother going berserk because she just spent $20,000 for a stupid tub.

It's way too much money to pay for the product now that I've seen it. I would not recommend to any elderly person to spend that much on this product. It's highly overrated. I was thinking it was gonna feel like being in a Jacuzzi but the jets are not very strong. Also, the tub will not fill up with hot water. We have a 50-gallon hot water tank. The salesman told us it would be plenty but the hot water completely runs out before the tub is filled. We even went and turned the water heater up as high as it will go and t it's still not hot water. It's just kind of warm.

When I used the bath once, it leaked. I called the number that I'm supposed to call for service and they sent someone out. He was a very nice gentleman. He came out and refilled the tub. One of the jets had come off on the bottom. He replaced the jet. But we couldn't duplicate the leak. He filled it up twice and drained it twice, and we could not find where the leak was coming from. I was asking him if it could have had something to do with the foot jet not being in place. He said he didn't think so but now the jet is in place, it's not leaking.

The other big key is that as long as we own the house, it's a lifetime warranty. Safe Step is also a little smaller, which is better for our 98-year-old mother. They did a wonderful job. I was happy from the person who came to the house and sold us on the tub to the guys that installed it. The company was absolutely wonderful. Everybody was very knowledgeable and they did exactly what they said they would do.

They had the tub installed within the day and it works great. We didn't have to do anything on the walls because the tile was still good. It has so much to offer, and I’m really happy with it. I like the way the colors come on the water. The lights, the voice, and the sound, I just like it. It's a great and relaxing experience.

Safe Step gave us exercises to try, and my husband is trying some of them. He puts on his swimsuit, and my daughter helps him into the tub. We have a pool at our home that he won't get in now because he’s afraid. He can swim, but not now. He gets in the Safe Step tub every other night, and the water is really helping him, especially since he has developed an autoimmune skin disease called bullous pemphigoid, which puts blisters on his extremities. He experiences lots of itching too. Now, the blisters are starting to dry up. The water is so relaxing to him, beating up against his legs and arms. He just loves it.

The reps told me our door had to be pushed in and it was doing fine, and then it got too tight. It was also making a loud squeaking sound like it was gonna break, and it would have had I not called then. Safe Step sent someone right out, and the guy fixed it. Not only does the door open inward, it can open outward too. He did a great job with it.

They gave me the dimensions but I didn't realize till I went to get in there and used it how small it was. Also, dirt clings to the tub, even after I wipe it down after I get out of the bath or the shower.

But once they called and got things rolling, it went smoothly. The installer was good about what he was doing. He had to remove a doorway in order to get the tub in there. I was happy with how things went. I was totally satisfied.

I like the tub, but the salesman was not honest and even with great credit the financial company he used is terrible. The interest rate is 7.9% which will cause the tub to actually cost $35 thousand with the payment schedule. The salesman told me that my 40 gallon water heater would be fine, knowing full well that the tub takes 85 gallons to be able to use the jets. He also said payments would be deferred for 4 months. The financial company said 3 months, but of course started charging interest immediately, so at $50 per month interest, I don't feel it was actually deferred. I don't have space for a bigger water heater so I had to go with tankless, which including installation cost me $4,500. I am disabled and thought the tub would help me but all it has done is cause me financial stress. Unless you are wealthy, I do NOT recommend buying this tub!

The experience with the Safe Step sales rep was really good. We were getting ready to sell a house in another state. We didn't really want to make a purchase until we knew what kind of funds we would have left. But he was pushy on, “I can't guarantee this price after a week,” so we felt pressured into making a decision right there. We approved the installation because he also said that we could push out the installation until we had the funds. We felt the cost was pretty high but he said that overall, Safe Step was the best tub over any walk-in tub out there. It was made in America and the customer service was great. For their lifetime, if anything went wrong with the tub, they'd send someone out at no charge.

On installation day, the contractor showed up first, and they got to work right away, taking out a garden tub. But then they had to stand around and wait on the electrician. But the electricians didn't want to run the wiring under the house. They wanted to go around the house. My husband and I said, "For $20,000, you're gonna run the wire in the right way and it needs to go under the house.”

They said, “We can't go under the house because we've had people go under houses and then they get sick and they breathe in all kinds of junk.” My husband talked with the contractors and they called their boss, and somewhere in there, the electricians’ bosses called, and said, “No, you need to run the wiring under the house .” So they had to call their boss to get that approved.

From the get go, I was under the impression that the tub was going to be put in a catty corner. But it was not put in catty-corner. It was put in flush with the wall, which is fine. I just don't think it's aesthetically as nice as it could look. Once they got everything hooked up after the electricians were done, they ran water in the tub and checked to see if everything worked. The door leaked a little bit, so they did some adjustments and then told us to leave the water sitting in it for 24 hours. We did that. I tried to use the tub, but our hot water heater is not big enough to fill the tub and the salesperson said it would be. So I can't use the tub yet because I've got to put in another hot water heater.

The shower worked when I used it. My husband was hurting one day. He decided he’d try the tub anyway. So he filled it as much as he could and let the cold water run so that he could still use the Jets. When I came home, I asked him what happened with the tub because the floor was all wet. He said it leaked. He thought it was from under the tub.

The next day, I used the shower but the raindrop shower kept popping and would pop up, and then leak and spray all over the place. I said, “I'm not going to use the raindrop shower.” I moved it over to the handheld shower and finished showering that way. We called customer service to try to get someone else to fix it and that was Tuesday of last week but no return call.

I chatted. They said, “You gotta call customer service or email them.” I emailed them and they said, “You gotta call them.” I emailed back and I said, “I've tried calling. Nobody's returning my call.” The next day, I got a call after I called again. I explained to her what was going on and she said, “I'm going to have to put in a service ticket and the technician will call you to set up a time for him to come out.” That was last week sometime. Nobody called me the next day or that day.

I got a call from somebody. But he was returning my request for a service call and he was in British Columbia. He said, “Obviously, this got misrouted because I can't help you.” At which point, we contacted our sales rep and said, “This is ridiculous. For $20,000, we ought to get somebody out here or at least a return call the same day to get this fixed." The sales rep could have been more realistic, first and foremost, about the hot water heater. A 50-gallon tank hot water heater is not going to fill a Safe Step tub. You're gonna need something bigger. I also would have preferred electricians who would do the job the right way. I would prefer better customer service. I was told by the sales rep that when clients make a call, within 24 hours, they get a service tech out to take a look at that tub. But that's a lie.

Safe Step had a knowledgeable sales rep. The installation went very well. The installers showed up at the time they were supposed to show up. They did the installation in less than a day and that was including the electrician. The quality of work they did was excellent. As far as the tub, I’m not totally as enthralled with it as I was before I bought it. It's sort of a pain that you have to get into the tub and then let it fill. So, you're sitting there for 20 minutes. We're getting partially wet and I realized there's no way to avoid that. When you're standing in the tub, if the drain is up until the hot water starts flowing, there's not much room to stand in there and you wind up stepping on the drain. You always have to keep hitting the switch to bring it up.

The filler in the back of the tub is where the back of the tub comes up so you can lean against it. It sort of creates a shelf. Where the back of the tub ends, they could have gone back another 8 inches and just made the tub bigger. But there's nothing in that compartment underneath that would allow you to stand inside the tub and not constantly be stepping on the drain while you're waiting for the hot water to stop flowing. So, if you're not sitting down, it's not that comfortable. If it was a little longer, it would have worked better.

It's not a lot of room, but I can push myself up and down with my arm so I can get some arm exercises. I also like the showers in it as well as being able to sit in there, and it does whirlpool around. So it gives me some benefits. I like the jets on my back as well.

There's a couple of things that I wish were different though. Unfortunately, my right knee is affected, and that's the knee that hits the door. There's no jet that hits that leg, and I really need it to do that, but just being able to sit in hot water is a good thing. The other thing is, it’s much smaller than I thought it would be. If I weighed 110 pounds, that would be fantastic. I'd be really happy and I’d fit in it great, but I weigh 230 pounds. So walking in it, I open the door and I have to turn sideways, squeeze myself around the back of the door, then close it. It's same thing with getting out of it. I gotta get towards the front where the shower is, open the door, and squeeze my way around that door again to get out, which is a little inconvenient for me.

I wish the door was a little bigger. It also looks like there's a little splitting in the seam where they put it together and did the caulking, so I’ll have them come back out and fix that part. Other than that, it's a great tub. My grandkids, my family and I use it. Sometimes I have to wait till 2 o'clock in the morning to use it because everybody else has been in it.

Some of the workmanship they did when they were installing wasn't really superior. But other than that, we're pretty happy with the tub and the Safe Step brand.

The operator of the tub was stretching and she slipped off the edge of the seat down into the little hole. She just had shoulder surgery and that made things rougher because I couldn't pull her out with one arm. The handles of the tub were placed properly but she didn't have the strength to pull herself out. So, she got a visit from the local fire department and they were able to step over on the seat and two of them were able to lift her up and out. If there was a hole in the middle of the seat and you could stick a pole in there so she wouldn't slide down, that would be advantageous for her trying to stretch out. Like they do on a saddle, they have a saddle horn.

When the boxes come in, stamped all over the boxes is, “Made in China.” The only thing Tennessee does is put things together then ship them out. The whole thing had shut down too. I got in it, pushed the start button, then it shut itself off. I got out and checked the breaker. The breaker was fine. I checked the reset switch on the tub and that was tripped. I pushed it and it started again. I was back in the tub then it conked out four times. I called Safe Step on a Saturday and they said somebody would get ahold of me Monday. Nobody got ahold of me Monday so I called again Monday. A woman said they'd get it over to somebody and they should be out the next few days. They were there the next day which was good. A friend of mine was thinking about getting a Safe Step tub for himself. When this was happening, he just looked at me and shook his head. But when they came over the next day and changed out the GFI on it there, he said, “Well, at least they’re quick enough.” Those two saved the reputation of Safe Step Tubs as far as he's concerned.

The installers were very professional and nice people. They did a great job and everything is working well but I’d like for someone to come and inspect the tub to make sure it has been put up there properly. The reps were saying something at one point about somebody coming and inspecting it and they haven’t done that so far. But everything else is okay. I like the jets in the tub and that you can take a shower. I love my tub. I took a bath very seldom. I couldn’t take a bath in my other tub because I had to get on my knees and pray to God I could stand up. In this one, I’m sitting on a seat and when I finish, I just stand up. I'm pleased with my experience with Safe Step. I can’t even wait to get home and get in the tub and relieve the stress and the pain.

All the features of the Safe Step walk-in tub are good and the one that has very little mini bubbles are supposed to clean your skin. The finished product seemed like it's a good unit. It's not something I use every day but it's interesting and it's what I thought it was.

The reps from Safe Step came and put in the walk-in tub. They did good but when they picked my commode up, they dropped it and busted it. It took probably two hours along through the job. I checked it out and everything when they left. Then, I waited till all the RTV and everything that they used to seal, which was two and a half days, before I used it and it leaked. I cleaned everything and tried it again, and it leaked again. It took about a week to get somebody to come in and check the leak and fix it. The guy who came in did the right thing. He adjusted the door and I hadn't had a leak since. But this is right off when I spent $20,000, which is not the service I thought I was gonna get. I would not recommend Safe Step to anybody. It was probably two weeks before I got to enjoy the tub.

The installers were professional and pleasant. They left the bathroom pristine. We’re very pleased. As for the bathtub itself, I did not think that I was going to care about the extra features but it turns out that they're my favorite part. The aromatherapy and the micro bubbles were optional. But the price differential wasn't that much and I figured I don't want to have to want to bump it up someday. I went ahead and got them, thinking I wasn't going to care that much about them. But they make it a whole experience. I also really like that they had enclosed the workout video. If I was going to add a feature of some kind, the temp could be improved next year when they sell it. It's so loud and the bubbles are going, it would be nice if music was piped in through the pillow head wrap so that you could attach the Bluetooth and the music would come in close to your ears instead of having to have it on the other side of the bathroom.

We called Safe Step to see what it would cost to get a walk-in, so they made the appointment to come and talk. The guy came and he was here for hours. He gave a spiel and we had purchased the product before he left. All we wanted was an estimate and we were going to check different places, but nobody would give you an estimate without coming and talking to you. So, we didn't even get a second estimate. Plus, he guy wouldn't leave till we said yes. Then, it was about a week or so before they came back. But that was no problem because they had to almost take my bathroom apart to get it in. We knew it was going to happen and we have two bathrooms, so that was not a problem. The guys that came for the installation were marvelous and it took them all day. They were like part of the family.

I love the tub and I spent about an hour in it yesterday. But it doesn't take all that much water. I would use that much water in the shower, and I have used it as a shower also. But I love the fact that you can just sit and enjoy and, at the same time, get a body massage. I needed to spend more time getting to know the controls though. I was standing there and watching the installer. He already had the tub filled up before I went, then he would show me the different things to use. But he was just the installer and he didn't know everything about the tub.

On the first time I got in it, I flooded the bathroom. I didn't close the door all the way and I thought I had the lever down, which I pushed as far as it would go, but I needed to put a little weight behind it before and push it all the way. So, I thought that I closed it and started the water running. It started filling up and when I looked out, there was water all over my floor. But that was okay as I cleaned the floor same time I cleaned myself. Other than that, the walk-in is gorgeous. It's so pleasing and with the water massage, I don't think I wasted my money. It will also increase the value of the house if we ever sell it.

And they busted my electric razor but wouldn't reimburse me for it. I tried to talk to them and all they said was, "That's not in our contract. We have to go by our contract." I said, "Come on now. You can spend $50 or something buying me a razor." They said they would have somebody come out and see the razor and talk with me about it, but nobody showed up. Nobody called back from them. And that was mainly because of trying to get the electricity from my panel to where they had to get it. I have a crawlspace so it was difficult. But they got it done.

I like the product. One of the things that I like about it is it has the microbubbles. After using it and seeing all the oils and dirt come out of my body, it was almost disgusting to see. That really helped me. That was one of the factors that we bought it. And when we saw it work, it was awesome. My wife loves it too. She’s the one who likes to take baths. So, it relaxes her. The tub meets our expectations but we're having trouble with the water temperature. We can't get the water hot enough. We have a 75-gallon water heater, which we were told would be more than enough. We have it cranked up for a very hot temperature water. It's the mixing valve. Safe Step's rep was knowledgeable about everything and she didn't have to go looking through a catalogue to figure out what her answers would be. Their installation team was great, too. They said they would follow the tub’s outline and that went well. But there's a side of the cabinet facing it and when they put up the splash guard, it only curled over half of that cabinet, so it looks very funny. They really need to spend more time in going over how to work the tub before they run out. It was too quick and I needed to do it all over again. Also, the tub they pulled out had a bench seat next to it, so they had to leave that blank. And I haven't been able to get anyone in to do that. It’s a 2-foot-square of tiling and the installers don't do retiling if needed.

Aside from that, by mistake, they caulked one of the drawers shut and I had to chop it open. But they came back and recaulked it. Then one time, when I shut off the hand wand, it didn't shut all the way off, so I thought it was leaking. But it really wasn't leaking because it just wasn't pushed in all the way. But they were very polite about it and they did an excellent job. They also got someone here very quickly and they corrected the problems. Safe Step's customer service has been great as well and so far, I like the water jets of the tub. But they should somehow label the controls better and if they could, they should do it in large type because they're dealing with all these senior citizens and we are a little forgetful.

Three weeks after we called, they sent someone out. And he came in and filled it up. It didn't leak so he left. 30 minutes later, I got in, and it leaked. He said he could see places in the door that could cause the leak. And he has gone ahead and order a door. We waited eight days, and the door came. I called him and told him the door was here. And we've waited eight days for them to come and put it in. They've been putting off getting it fixed. And they're supposed to come today. They have to get that fixed. They are supposed to be here between 12:00 and 2:00 today.

We love the way the tub operates, looks and the shower and Jacuzzi features. It was a good investment for us. Just being able to get in, he said I could go ahead and get in, and take a shower and run it up to a certain point before it leaked. So, I've been doing that. I've enjoyed those features tremendously. But we can't use the jacuzzi features because it makes the tub leak. It doesn’t look like it would be a hard thing to fix. We just need to get somebody on it. It is a big investment and we want it fixed because we need it. I hope they come. We were told that we had a money back guarantee, and that we had a lifetime guarantee. We want it fixed.

They did exactly what they would say from the standpoint of installing it in five hours and cleaning up their mess.

The quality of Safe Step is excellent from what I've observed. There's a learning curve to working it, though. The people who have cognitive problems probably would have a difficult time figuring it out. My wife has so many problems, and I run the water and set the controls for her. There were some minor design flaws with grab bars, where they’re placed. My wife still has trouble standing up even though there are two grab bars. When you open the door or try to get out, one of the grab bars is behind the door. It's useless at that point. So there's only one. When you have problems, you're weak, your arms are not very strong, you need more than one grab bar. So it's always a struggle to get her out. I'm always there to help her get up and usually sit in a wheelchair till she can get dressed, get dried up, and get her clothes on. But other than that, I would hope that they would make those changes at some point.

The sales rep was very nice and knowledgeable. He told me exactly what would happen. He said it would take 14 to 21 days. It was closer to 21 days before they came to put the tub in. But they were in and out in a day. They showed me how to operate it and gave me a video on how to operate it. The only problem I had was I didn't have a big enough hot water heater and I had to get a new one. Safe Step could have told me about it right up front that my tank would not fill that tub. I'm sure they have this problem everywhere because they gave me a $750 allowance for a hot water tank. But other than that, I'm 100% satisfied. Everything was great. I love the tub. I didn't at first, but the more I use it, the better I like it.

The sales representative was very positive. Also, the tub is great. Everything as advertised. I like the wider door, the lower step-in. It has a feature that exfoliates your skin, and that's nice. And it also has a stand-up shower. Another positive is they seem to follow up. Once the tub installed, there is communication from them to their customers. However, the installation was rough. They have one person for the whole state. And it made it very difficult to get us a detailed installation schedule. We waited for three months. But the installer came and did their thing. I've got some maintenance I need done on it. Because when it was installed, they didn't install the speakers, for the Bluetooth. And I'm having the same experience as what I had for the installation. The person that scheduled it told me they would call me this week. There is the rest of today and Friday, but I would get that same thing and never hear from them. So, he's very busy.

Something was clogged on the settings for the thing for the cold side.

I had a filter system and a water softener put in because I thought that was my problem with the tub. But it wasn’t. Safe Step got all that corrected. The door of the walk-in tub doesn't close properly and you need a lot of force to close it. It’s also hard to stand up to take a shower and there's not enough room to put your feet. Otherwise, you're closing the drain. The walk-in tub is so flat where the shower and the faucets come out of and you can't reach your hand over because there's no lip to catch any of the water. These are the biggest things that are frustrating but other than these, everything has been good with Safe Step.

They were nice to us. Before they left, they had put the water in the tub all the way up to the top. They said, “Leave it like that until the next day. That way, we can check for leaks.” We did have a leak and they came back the next morning. It was just something needed to be tightened in the drain. They were very professional about it.

As far as the walk-in tub, I like the lights and the jets. I like everything. As far as Safe Step is concerned, I did not care for the lack of communication with me at all. It was terrible. I received a call from Safe-Step 2 days later (3 Oct) and was told a Maintenance Tech would call me during the work week duty hours. Wow, great service. I called 4 days later (7 Oct) to check the status and was told a work order had not been generated and would be done ASAP. I called again on 13 Oct to check the status of a call from a Maintenance Tech and was told a Tech would be contacted today.

I called again on 20 Oct and was told a Manager would be contacted to solve this problem. A Tech called me 5 minutes later, apologizing, and said he would be at my home in two days. On 22 Oct two Techs showed up, checked the tub and determined the door needed to be shimmed. It took two shims and the door was so tight my wife could barely close it and moisture was still leaking. The Tech wrote a Service Ticket to order a new door.

On 10 Nov I called to check the status of the service ticket and was told once again that a service ticket was never opened. The service person said: "Oh, it was never arranged, I'll take care of it now". I tried to get her to explain to me the process from the initial complaint to the resolution of the problem. I got apologies and was told a maintenance tech would contact me later this week. 41 days later and I am back where I started, waiting for a call from a maintenance tech.

I have been exceptionally patient and respectful when talking to all service people involved. You have tested me and I now have to say: I can't believe the incredible inefficiency this company demonstrates in dealing with customer service. I was once the Director of Operations of a national medical services company, responsible for maintaining the service of hundreds of millions of dollars of our high tech medical equipment in over 300 hospitals in 33 states. Then I don't get the tub filled up with water because I haven't taken that much time. It takes a long time to get water in it. The sales representative seemed to thoroughly explain everything. My bathroom is in my bedroom and the installers had to cut the door on both sides to fit the bathtub into the bathroom. They did a good job except when it came time until I went to use it. It was a bit difficult for me, especially the handheld shower wand that doesn't have enough water pressure. I don't really like the hose that comes with it because it's metal and it continuously grates against the hole that it comes out of and makes that grating sound. The shower wand is also that shiny metal. It should have some kind of rubber grip on the back of it to make it easier for an old person to hold on to it. I also can't change the velocity of the spray that comes out. It's just one fine spray continuously. I was used to another kind of handheld shower that I could twist and get different water velocities, like fine spray or hard spray or solid water.

I also couldn't reach the hand bars that were put on the wall to help hold on while getting in and out because I'm short and I have short arms. I should have been consulted as to exactly the position where I needed those on the wall. Then, in the booklet with instructions, there are so many diagrams and it's confusing for somebody whose brain is not too good anymore. It could have been better for older people because that's what Safe Step aims at. I'm a little disappointed. But then I like that I can get in it instead of climbing three feet over a tub. I also like the shower thing that can be held in the hand.

The second guy called me and I was gonna cancel the order because I was called my last name in the Marines and was kind of offended by the fact that he kept calling me that. The man who called me the second time was very apologetic and said they were going to send me out a gift card. I never got it but that's no big thing. The installers were good. They got here 10:00 am and left at 8:00 pm. They cleaned the bathroom beforehand, so they did a real good job there. When the tub first came, I thought it was small but it was big enough. I felt really relaxed after using it. I'm still experimenting on my Safe Step tub and I don't have the controls down yet but I'm getting there.

We like that Safe Step is made in America and we've got a lifetime guarantee with it. We have the sales rep's phone number and card if we ever want or ask anything. The young man that drop-shipped and brought the tub in place was very good as well. Then a couple of days later, we had one of our local plumbers hook it up. I really like the shower and I like to get in it. It's just a lot of money. But we’re very pleased with it and we highly recommend it.

The installers had difficulty getting the tub, and because they couldn't get it as quickly as they had promised it, they decided to install the one that was a little bit higher quality and I was really happy with all its features. The main person who was doing the main part of the installation had me and the other lady that lives in the other part of the house come in while he demonstrated how each feature worked and he did a good job on that. I like the back massaging thing. That feels really good. I tried out the lights feature one time and it was very soothing as well. There is also an aromatherapy feature, but I did not take advantage of that because I have asthma, and so I have allergies to some of the different scents. Then we had a power outage for about a week and I could not wait to get back in that tub because I had enjoyed it so much. Everything worked well.

The door leaked and I had a terrible time from then on until it was completely finished. Safe Step had to put a new door on it, then had to make the door, and it was sent to the wrong place. It took two weeks to get it completely workable. Then I'm not completely familiar how all the buttons work on to get the different jets on. The worst part is it takes 15 minutes to fill it so you sit there singing a tune or two. But I do my washing while it's filling and then once it's filled, I can use the jets and all the bells and whistles. I've only used it a couple of times and I'm not completely happy with it. People have to get a bigger hot water tank if they choose this product.

The sales reps were very nice and the tech walked me through the installation. The shower works okay until it takes off and goes up into the ceiling as we can't get it tight enough. The side jets work okay too but the microjets, regular jets, and drain don't work. I've contacted Safe Step several times and complained. We had to call back through the guy that we bought it from and they called us back and said that they had ordered a new part for it. We called about the jets again and they came once and fixed those but they still didn't work. They called us again and said they would be here today to fix the drain. I would just like to get it fixed so we can use it correctly.

I'm a hard person to get to sleep but when I get in there and take my bath, it relaxes me so much. I love it and I get in there almost every day. The only thing is it takes a lot of hot water so it's best to do it at night.

We weren't exactly sure how we're gonna put the walls because the tub is in front of a window and the window was still lower than the top of the tub and I didn't realize it was gonna be so high. Frank wanted to make sure he had everything right and that it was gonna mesh. He did a really good job. I like my Safe Step a lot so far and it looks really nice in the room.

They installed the computer and it worked one time. Then the pad went out. They came to install the front panels, replaced the computer that had been ordered, and it's still an issue with the panel. The tub doesn't work and the keypad that's on the back doesn't function. Hopefully, once that gets replaced, it'll function. They're waiting for a part again and again and I'm tired of getting these phone calls and no action. Safe Step should fix it so I can use it. We have a useless tub in the bathroom for over a month now. I've tried calling a couple of different times. You leave a voice message which is not very helpful because nobody ever calls back.

We had to come through the window in the bathroom in order to get the tub in because we have a home that was built in the '89 and the doorways are too small. The installers scraped the window jamb and a couple of places, and it was not fixed. The drywall at the bottom of the tub on the left side was cut and was not patched. The one thing that really concerned me was when I saw how they plugged it in. It looks like the cord was not long enough to reach the outlet so they put another outlet kind of just hanging there and the tub was plugged into it. I asked, "Is that safe?" They said yes but to me, that's not. It was right by the drain where the water goes in. I asked, "What if that leaks there for some reason?" They said it won't electrocute anyone and that it will completely turn off if one drop of water touches it but I don't know. If they would have moved the tub towards the left three or four inches, it would've fit the existing outlet.

I didn't realize that the tub was not quite long enough for me. I'm a tall person and in order for me to get the jets on my back, I have to scoot down to where my hiney kind of hangs off into the seat a little. I also didn't know if we were supposed to get a pillow or if the pillow comes with the most expensive tub. They also had advertised a shower hook-up on the TV, and the guy said that was no longer available. But the Safe Step tub has helped some. My mother had Parkinson's disease and I can feel it coming on me sometimes a little bit. My feet start to get numb sometimes so I've used the jets on my tub a lot to keep that from happening.

Everything was good until they came to install it. They brought the opposite of what I needed. When you walk into the bathroom, the water sewage is on the left-hand side and they gave me a tub that needed the sewage on the right side. They had to order another one and then it took another four days to get it installed. It was kinda stupid not to get it right the first time. Also, their advertisements about having a 50-gallon water tank is a total bullcrap. I think I need at least a 60-gallon water tank because I can't fill up my tub. I have the water turned up as high as I can make it and I can't fill it up without putting cold water. Other than those, the finished product is fine and the price was good. Nobody could compete with that tub pricing.

Safe Step claimed that it was better than all the rest of the tubs but the controls are lacking. I am having them come out on Thursday again because the controls continually have to be rebooted or they don't work right. For the money that I spent, I regret it every day. What they claim and what has been portrayed is different. It's a little tight in there and it's fine as far as the premise of what it is but if I could get out of this and have it torn out, I probably would. I've already signed the contract that I was going to pay for it but I don't think it was worth the $18,000 that they want.

I had a roll-in shower. I thought that would work for my husband. It was a bad install and hated a bunch of things, but I didn't change it for a few years. Someone called me from American Standard for some walk-in tubs. And they were so rude after they came out to my house. I saw an advertisement on Facebook with Safe Step, so I called to get an idea of what it would cost. My mom is 84 and my dad is 87. They've been wanting one for a long time. The rep said it's very expensive. But once they came out and we talked about pricing and financing, I said, “Let’s go. Let’s do it.”

I loved the sales rep. He was very knowledgeable and he went through everything. Safe Step has way more toys than these other companies. The installers were done way quicker than I thought they would be because I was told it would take eight hours, but they did it in four. It may have been easier because all they had to do was take out the roll-in shower. I have a tub in my bedroom, but it's hard to get in and out of it without some assistance. And I’ve fallen in the tub a few times. One time, knocked myself out unconscious. So, I had been afraid of the tub. But now, I don't need any help. And I liked the fact that the door opens in instead of out. I love it. I added backsplash to the whole bathroom to make it look like a brand-new bathroom. It’s a small bathroom, but it worked. I always show videos of my tub.
