The installation went well. They came out once but had the wrong size tub. They went back and rescheduled then got the right tub. The tub is great. I like the micro-bubble thing and the lights are cool. The tub is not cheap but I'd tell others to give it a shot.

We like the tub. It allows us to be able to move freer and be a little more active. My wife can sit in there and soak and have jets on her and help her relax. Overall, Safe Step did a really good job.

I bought a Safe Step tub and it took me two months to get it because they said they had a permitting problem. The inspector came for the final inspection and apparently, there was paperwork missing. The paperwork was the initial permit had never been drawn. So he was upset about that. After the sale was complete, the rep pulled out a flyer that said the tub requires a 50-gallon water tank. He knew I only have a 30 and he had me waived that. The big problem is that nobody works here. Every single phone call has been from somewhere else. I'll send somebody who's 100 miles away.

When the inspector was here, the tub would not fill with water. I got into the tub a few days later and I got it to fill with water. But when I turned the jets on, the thing in the back which is for a scent of some sort went blowing out of the back, hitting the ceiling. It was an explosive thing. My cat still won't walk in that room. I tried 20 times to get that thing to attach. It seems like it's attached, but if you just lift it up, it lifts up. I only have hot water up to my knees. They said in the contract they would turn up the water heater, but they refused to do so.

The worst problem is they've messed up my circuit breaker box, and my disposal and my dishwasher will not stop running. Even when you turn the circuit breaker off for them, they still run. So they've somehow connected those into their wiring. I've had one phone call from Linda and she returned my call even though this has been going on for four months. It should have never been sold to me in the first place. But I can't put my old bathtub back. The worst part is I'm 80 years old and disabled. But they want me to crawl into my crawl space underneath my stairs and adjust my water heater myself. I would do that except I wouldn't be able to stand up again. There's nobody here to help me get back up. They also want me to do the electrical box. But my brother was blown up by an electrical box and he died. I have the trauma of that to begin with, let alone playing around with the electricity.

I gave some contact information to Safe Step online, and within 24 hours, I had somebody on the phone wanting to make an appointment for the sales rep. Then he was here in three days time. So it was a fairly quick response. For the installation, I had been told a window for arrival would be 8:00 AM to 10:00. So contrary to my usual practice, I was up and dressed by 8:00 but nothing happened. At some point, one of the installers called and said, "We're just now headed out." Originally, we were scheduled for Monday but I had received a call that there was sickness among the installers. Then it was scheduled for Saturday at Memorial Day weekend. I was surprised they were going to do it on Memorial Day weekend. But I was told by the person on the phone that they wanted to stay as close to their install schedule if possible.

Two installers were going to give up their Saturday in order to get me installed. So, I called and Samantha, one of the installers, said, "We're just now leaving." She also said, "We need to stop at Home Depot and get some materials and we'll be on." Then they got here and worked together with each other very well and were pretty tidy in what they did. We were dealing with a rainy day, and I opened the garage door so they could bring things in through the garage. It wasn't raining early on in their visit. They did a little scuff up of woodwork getting through a couple of doors into the bathroom, which later my daughter did touch a painting on, and it's satisfactory.

The other installer was Mike, and during the install, he cut a hole in the bathroom wall to a ground fault outlet installed. He tried to patch up a spot. After they worked on and my daughter was looking over the project carefully, we thought the tub had scraped the wall going in. The paint on the wall was messed up. But I happen to have remnants of that paint job. So she fairly successfully covered that for me.

They worked in the garage and after they were gone, there were drilling crumbs where they had done some drilling and hadn't really vacuumed up that floor. So those drilling crumbs have been tracked in. But overall, the installation was pretty good. After they installed, Mike instructed me on the operation of the tub. Tomorrow, it will have been in a month since I had it, and I am not yet finding it to be a relaxing experience to use the tub. It requires a lot of understanding of how it operates and how to make all the whistles and bells. I'm 83 years old. I don't speak technology.

I called Safe Step on Friday of this past week to talk to the service department about five concerns I had. The lady that I spoke with was very patient with me and talked me through some of those things. But when I used the tub again, I still don't feel that there's any heat in the seat or back. Following her instructions, I still don't feel that the bidet is doing anything. Following her instructions, I don't feel that the drain is operating. I've got to hold it open by its manual control for it to drain. I can't just flip that handle and have it drain. I also asked her about the volume control on the speakers. I find it very loud. I spent a lot of money but I'm not getting my money's worth. But I appreciate being able to walk in, and not having to climb over the edge of the tub like I had to with the old standard tub.

Safe Step is very responsive to my problems. I've got an email from the sales rep. He has been responsive when I've emailed him. I've got his service phone number and he was very patient with me. But I would have liked to have been allowed to sit in the tub during Mike's instruction time, but it was full of water, so I couldn't do that. I had a feeling once the installation was done, they wanted to get out of here and back on the road and I appreciated that. The initial instruction period was fairly brief.

I had a walk-in shower and one of these medical stools, but I thought that a walk-in tub and shower would be better and I'd feel safer. I went ahead and spent some money and got a walk-in tub and shower from Safe Step. The installation was very simple. They came in at about 9 o'clock in the morning, and I pointed to them where it was supposed to be located. Then, they proceeded. By 2 o'clock that afternoon, they were done. They explained the operations of the tub and said if I had any questions or if anything out of the ordinary comes up, I can just give them a call, and they would make sure that whatever the problem was would be taken care of. There hasn't been a problem.

As far as the tub, I used it twice before I left. I had to go up to Kansas to my brother. I had to spend a month up there. I have used the tub three times since I've been back, and I have no problems with the tub. I would encourage anyone that is around my age to look into a tub shower combination like Safe Step. I feel more comfortable with having mine. When I get in to take a shower, I feel safer than in just a walk-in shower. I can sit down and scrub my legs and stuff and not worry about trying to stand and scrub a lower part of my body. I feel more secure.

When their rep came out, it was easy going. He gave us the facts and information and walked away from us when we asked him to. On install day, they did a pretty good job. But they had to take the whole frame out to get the tub in and I know they're not wood workers. My wife's a little concerned about the finishing touches. I'm not concerned as much, but that's what she got upset about. Other than that, they were very creative on the electrical. I didn't like what they told me about going down to our main hallway downstairs and putting all kinds of patch panels. They figured a way to go up straight to the attic and back down again and I was pleased with that.

The overall quality of workmanship was excellent. They did a good job all the way around and they cleaned everything out. There's only one little funny little thing -- when you take out the old shower head, you put a cap over it and the stuff they had didn't stick to our wallpaper. It has fallen off. The shower is disappointing, though. It's a battle to get in there. You have to sit down but that was minor. But then the shower curtain, if I pull it right up to the edge, will splatter off the back wall, go down the opening on the door, and put water all over our floor. If I put that shower curtain up to where the tub area is, that's what happens. I have to pull it all the way over to the wall at an angle and it's on top of it. It looks stupid, personally, but if I were to say I have a problem, I'm afraid I'm gonna get the floor wet because of the way the shower splatters everywhere inside, hits that nice surface in front of us, and then rolls down the edge, and I had a puddle.

We're getting used to the tub and we're learning little smart things. I had to point out to my wife that she could heat the seat up so it wasn't so cold when we sat down. She's happy with it now. She likes the jets in the back. She used the rain effect part of it and she had a similar problem with the splashing against the wall which she had to tilt at an angle. We're working out that kind of the issue with it.

Tina came in and showed me the Safe Step. She did a great job of explaining and taking me through the details. But after I got through the machine, I was even more pleased that I picked that one instead of the two others that we looked at seriously. We paid a little more for Safe Step but we're happy with it. I've had my Safe Step now for about two weeks. At first, I was very unhappy. I had a very hurried installation by a young man by the name of Chris. But he came well-equipped, and he had a helper with him. He did a good job with the installation, but he was extremely hurried and did not have time to give me a full explanation. I even told him to slow down. I wanted to understand him a whole lot better than I did. I did that twice during the course of the conversation. But he did go through the numbers.

It was pretty difficult for me to get from the printed information all I needed to know to operate it. So, it's been a struggle to work through it these last two weeks. I kept pushing buttons until I found out what works. I read and reread the directions. It caused me to study the directions very detailed and that's probably good for me to do. But it would be most helpful if I saw a demonstration. The first thing I discovered was that I did not have an adequate hot water tank. So, we had to take out the hot water tank and put it in a new hot water tank to satisfy the needs of my Safe Step. It was pretty easy to go back and see what each knob was for later. Safe Step did a good job in the depiction of those things in the material. But you have to study about it.

I was very upset about not having a good indoctrination into the features of it. I told this to Chris, and the project chairman, a lady by the name of Morgan, but she was not in the office. But over a two-day period, I'd have four calls asking if she called me back so I could make these comments. I called back two days later, which was the week of the Fourth of July, so I knew everybody was moving around and having their parties and picnics. But I didn't get any callbacks when I left messages at all.

I called the maintenance department. I did not get a name from the lady that was there, but she promised to have someone call me back as soon as possible, which I assumed to be in a few hours, but I've never heard from her. I've gradually learned to operate the Safe Step. I'm 95 and I've had to work it through by myself. I love my Safe Step. It's a wonderful piece of equipment. It's hard to get in and out of somewhat, but it does a great job and I hope I'll get better acquainted with it as time goes on.

One of the reasons I put in the step-in tub is it became uncomfortable to stand in my shower and scrub without a handle at my age. I'm not stable. I went with a Safe Step so that I could sit down and wash my body without having to worry about falling. I'm a pretty big person and my first realization is how small the tub is. So, I have to be very careful getting in and out.

The door is delicate, but working around the door to get in is a challenge. Also, they didn't put the drain in the right place. If the drain had been forward and away from the door, instead of right where you have to step in, it would have been much better. It's right under your feet where you sit. You have to be mindful of that all the time. If it was in the middle of the front, your feet would not step on it regularly. When I stand up to get out, I have to separate my legs and get in an awkward position so I can open that door. Also, it would be a little better if you could open the door and stand in front of it when you're drying down with your towel. As it is now, you have to stand awkwardly.

The tub is very expensive. So, you should think it would be a little more foolproof. Sometimes the bells and whistles are a little heavy. The music and the light colors don't mean a whole lot to me. But the movement of the water does. The convenience of having the little handheld shower is wonderful. Overall, I'm very satisfied with the concept and I'm sure that I have the right tub.

I had two companies come out and give me estimates, and Safe Step had more to offer. The installation went well. They did some damage, but they're having someone come out on Friday to fix it, so it should be fine. The bathroom door wasn't wide enough. So, they took off the doorway. They put that back on, but someone's gonna touch it up so it looks better. The tub seems great. It's helping my mom out a lot. I like the micro bubbles. They seem to work very well. I would recommend Safe Step.

We're all very tall people and our knees would have been almost to our chest by the time we got in the walk-in tub. When we talked to the salesperson, he knew that because we were sitting there. He put the numbers down and got one in here but it was so short when I got in it. The man who installed the walk-in tub was super nice and quick on getting stuff done. He said Safe Step had one in stock and we could swap it out so he called me a few days later and brought it up, and had it installed that day. So Safe Step did a good job on that.

The cleaning part is a little convoluted but other than that, the tub is good. We like it. My mom is a little leery of the jets though because they're noisy but she uses it as much to take a bath in as she does with the jets. The little air bubbles have helped her skin more than anything. Those are wonderful. It looks like milk coming into your water because they're so tiny and the molecular part of it. I've used the Wi-Fi hooking up too, which is nice. But we have to turn it up loud to get it over the jets. So, it's almost not worth using. You've got the jet noise in the background, you turn your music and it's like you have to turn it up loud. I hear well and it gives me a headache. So, I just don't use the Wi-Fi with it, which is a nice feature, but it's not usable.

The original installation started eight weeks ago. But the glass and the brackets to mount it were missing. It took them a while to get somebody back out here to try to rectify some of the install issues I saw. We've also got a problem with the caulking. It won't set up on the tub. If you touch it, it's still wet. They're gonna call me back with a date and time to fix it. I can't use the shower and don't wanna try to even attempt that now with the caulking situation being what it is.

Safe Step Walk-in Tubs' rep was there soon. It didn't take long to have him come over and demonstrate. Had we wanted a beige tub, we could have had it sooner. But we wanted white, so we had to wait a couple of weeks. But it came in early, too. The installers laid everything down, laid plastic on the floor to protect it, and kept the doors closed to the bathroom so that when they were taking out the old tub, the household wouldn't be filled with dust. And they cleaned up. We were very satisfied. The tub doesn't drain as fast as I would like it to. But I like the micro and jets. We were very satisfied.

I liked everybody that I talked with and the person who came out got me sold on the Safe Step walk-in tub. He went through all the other brands that they had and he was very honest. He said there were some that were cheaper but I wanted something that was going to last and I wasn't going to have any problems with. It's always good to get a bargain on certain things, but on something like that, I didn't want to get something that was just going to be a constant headache. When the tub was put in, the installer explained everything and went pretty much in good detail.

So far, I'm enjoying using the bathing part of my walk-in tub with the jets and the air. It seems to work really great for me and when I do the clean-ups on it, it works well. It takes a while for it to drain and I'm still trying to figure out some of the other little things about it, but I'll get it. It has enough information that it's easy to go step by step. Also, I have spinal stenosis and I'm diabetic, and with a lot of the things that I tried to do to make things better, this is something that does work.

The Safe Step salesperson was convincing. He was really good. He made me believe that it was of good quality. The installation went smoothly and fast. The installers cleaned up after themselves. It was a really good experience. The Safe Step is an awesome tub. It has all the gadgets like the lighting. We also got that thing that plays music. There are speakers in the tub. So we just play our music from our phones. But the shower attachment could have better quality. After the installation, they didn't attach the pole correctly. So the water started squirting out. I had to go and tighten it but it was really easy to do. When I did that, I noticed that the quality of the shower could be better for the amount of money I spent.

The cost was too high. Also, the salesperson made us believe that we were gonna get more than what we did. Because there's this liquid and they gave us one little bottle that went into the tub. But the sales guy told us that we were gonna get a whole package after they installed the tub. I had to call back in reference to that. Nothing ever happened about it. But that was the only downfall of the whole process.

We worked out a payment deal of 200 and something dollars a month. The techs cut the door so we could get a wheelchair into the tub. The installer was on the phone with me when I ordered the tub and he got all the specifics on the door. The replacement door finally came in and as soon as it's installed and it fits, I'm ready for payments. I like the tub and I'm happy with it but I'm not completely happy until I get a door that fits. I like that Safe Step is all made in the US. Everything that goes into Safe Step is made in the US and I'm not so crazy about China stuff. The sales rep got a little pushy. He was trying to make a sale. He wanted us to make up our mind that day very badly. Also, we were just left hanging for a few months. We were given a time frame, but we were only updated one time. As far as the installation, the last minute, we changed where we were gonna put it. My husband didn't want to put in a lot of extra tile and have to hire somebody to do that. It was going to go in a bigger bathroom and replace a big garden tub.

They had sent a small tub and I thought they were gonna send a big one. They said that was the right one. So, it worked out well because we put it in the other bathroom right where the shower and the tub went. So, it fits perfectly. They had to do some extra plumbing work, but it looks very good and works very well. The guys that installed were very good. I can't complain about them. They went way above and beyond.

Safe Step reached out back to me. Their sales rep was very good. He was very well professional and went over things very thoroughly. He answered all my questions and he reached back to me on several different things of what I should and shouldn't do as far as my hot water heater was concerned. At the time that he came out, I didn't have a hot water heater because it had just gone out. I'm trying to figure out what to put in. I thought about getting a tankless hot water heater but he told me I would be better off to get gas. The gas one was gonna cost me too much money to put in because I'd have to revamp everything and do everything all over. I was wanting to put the hot water heater in my basement. He went over different things like this with me so that I would know what I would be in for.

In the end, I did something that he advised me not to do. I put in an electric gas hot water heater. For the most part, it was not big enough. He told me it wouldn't work and everybody else tried to tell me it would. If I would have listened to him, I've been better off. We get by with it. We use mostly the shower part and the hot water heater has no problem keeping up with the shower. It's when we use the tub part that it doesn't keep up.

That aside, the installers were very polite and nice. I had a few issues due to the way things were when they tore everything out and when they put them back. But they were very cooperative and they did things that they didn't have to do. They did them because I asked them to. They took the shower out. Where it was, it was a bigger spot than what they are gonna cover back up. I had a piece that was going to show that had glue on it. I asked them if they could tear that off because I had a piece that they could put up there. That's what they did.

They did excellent work. I didn't have all my flooring done so they left the flooring. There was a piece in front of the tub that they couldn't cover because I have to put my flooring down and finish it out. The shower was there so I couldn't do anything until they got the shower out. They left me a piece to put in front of the tub so I could finish that up. I asked them if they could leave that for me. I was very pleased with their work.

The only problem I have is the tub is a little small for me. I’m 6’1”, 220. When they brought the tub in to do the installation, they didn't let me get inside of it. I looked at it and I was thinking, “Oh, **.” But I thought, “Okay.” I got it mostly for my wife. She’s on oxygen 24/7. She has a hard time getting around. When she takes a shower, she would get too short of breath. I did the tub for her so it could be more convenient, less stressful, and where she could more or less enjoy it.

Safe Step is fine. I have some friends who are as big or bigger than me. I would tell them, “Use your own judgment.” Anybody that's been here has looked at our tub and thinks it's really nice. I've gotten in it and I take a shower, which is fine. I've taken two baths with it and it works out because you slow the water down a little bit and the hot water will keep up. You just can't have it on full blast. If you cut the water down a little bit, it could keep up. After you get so full with it, take the shower part and just fill it up with the shower part.

The Safe Step salesman was fairly convincing. Our walk-in tub was put in on the 25th of May. The installers were very nice. They took the old one out, put the new one in, and it took about six hours. Our tub had the circulating jets and I like the setting that exfoliates your skin. Overall, the tub is nice. My only problem with it is I have a 50-gallon hot water heater and when I use the tub, it uses all the hot water. Then when we try to rinse, the water is not hot yet.

The salesman did say that we might have an issue with the supply, and we do. He didn't say I would need a bigger hot water tank. He did say that it might not be adequate or it depends on the recovery time of the tank that I have, which is a new tank. If two people wanted to use it in succession, they wouldn't be able to. He should have emphasized that a little bit more. Now, I'm in the process of investigating on getting a tankless water heater. We've only used the tub twice since we've had it installed because of this issue.

Everything was also fine with the installation. They did it quickly. The only thing, the inspection took a little bit because the inspector was not so happy. We needed more fire alarms. They had to come back, but it was not a big deal.

The guys who did the installation of the walk-in tub were great. They were careful with the surrounding apparatus. They were going all the time and they had it in in one day. I've got diabetic neuropathy and weak muscles due to the neuropathy, and the bubbles and the water jets feel so good. It's like getting a full-body massage. When I get in the tub, I'm in there for at least half an hour. We love the Safe Step walk-in tub and we’re in it three times a week. People should get it. I would even let my friends come over and try mine and see if they like it. You get them in there one time and they're going to buy one, especially my golfing buddies. The salesman was very informative and professional. Once I saw his presentation and saw the merchandise, I was sold. The walk-in tub was delivered and the two fellas who installed it did a wonderful job. They got here about 8:30 in the morning. They were young gentlemen and they went right to work. They never stopped for lunch and I was concerned about that. But they kept at it all day. They left at 4:30 and everything was in perfect condition. They worked very hard. I'm in a wheelchair and can't walk at all so, the walk-in tub has been such a blessing to me and it was worth every penny I paid for it. It was much different than I expected. It was much bigger and all trimmed out with molding. My bathroom is a bone color and the tub is that. I've got the jets that help with my legs and my back and that's all I need. The tub drains very fast and fills up fast as well.

I have to tell everybody I see about my tub. Everybody's surprised because it's beautiful and very impressive-looking. The experience with Safe Step was an absolute pleasure. There’s a molding in the hinges on the inside of the door and it had fallen off. So, I called Safe Step. It wasn't hindering the operation but I wanted to make sure it didn't get lost and that I got it back on. The tech was here within two days and he was very nice. It just took him a few minutes to repair it and I was very impressed with that. It wasn't a big deal and would probably take several days but he was here right away and took care of that. So, that says something about their service as well as the product.

The salesperson gave us high expectations as far as the tub and what it would do for us. The first time that the installers were out, they had to come back because we had to have some replacement done on the floor. We got that done then they came back that next week and installed it. But I had to call them back to do some more patchwork. It looked sloppy in some places. I chose Safe Step because of their reputation, but I'm wavering from that 'cause I ain't getting my stuff done. I don't have the shower rod and the curtain yet. We love the tub but we don't get to shower in it much because it's not completed. It wets up the floor a lot of times. The people that came out to set it up were supposed to be ordering the shower rod and the curtain. That has not happened. I don't know what's going on. Nobody has contacted me.

The rep was a good guy. There was one thing he may have said to me, but I wasn't listening, and I wish I was listening about it a little bit better. I have a tall, 60-gallon water heater and a regular sized home one, and it takes every bit of it. I know how to control the warm water and get it hot at the very end, but it takes the entire tank and the tub under careful monitoring not to run into cold water before the tub is full. I like a hot bath. But I can't do it with my existing hot water heater. I can't get it as hot as I would like it.

The guys that installed it did a great job, but there were a couple of things that I had to go back and re-caulk and reseal after I filled it full of water, got into it and moved around a little bit. It might have shifted or leveled. I’m 5’10” and I weigh 250. I wish it was a little bigger. I wish it was about a half size of the seat a little larger where I can move around in the hot tub a little bit. Also, they don't have any railing or anything around the edge of the tub to set anything. It would have been nice to have had a little shelf on that backsplash that you could set soaps, shampoo, razor, etc. But the tub works and I love it. I've never felt cleaner than when I get out of the Safe Step. With a little soap not to get too bubbly, it cleans your skin and makes you feel clean. I'm enjoying it. It was a lot of money but it was a good investment for me. When I get too old, it'll be a very nice tub to be able to get into and get out of and enjoy my bath.

The rep was honest and outpouring. He didn't dissuade me either way to do what I want to get done. He gave me the color scheme or what kind of wall I like and was totally awesome about it. The installers showed me what the bathtub would look like before they brought it into the house. The quality of work was good. I even had some cabinets that were over my bathtub and my showers and they took those out. They brought them all the way to the top.

My favorite part about the tub is that it can blow air in and I get water that circulates. The tub also has jets and a heated seat. There's also an aromatherapy setting I could use and there is a little Scentilla bottle that comes with the tub. The fill-up and drain times are excellent. Also, if you got a small water heater that is not compatible, they'll tell you that you might have to get a bigger water heater. On the electrician part, I had the electrician come in, they thought they were able to use my existing box, and they actually had to drop another breaker box in.

Safe Step Walk-in Tubs seemed to have a better reputation than others. They've been in business a long time. And when the salesman came over, I was convinced that I had the right one. He was very knowledgeable and nice. He was here for a long time and I enjoyed his presentation. The first time the installers came, they brought a smaller tub, and the guy said, "I want you to try and sit in it before we bring it in." I did and it was so tight. So, he said, "I'm ordering you a bigger tub." I appreciated him doing that before he even brought it in. And he brought the other one and I was able to sit in it and I said, "This is perfect." So, they came in and started the installation. I had a lady here that oversaw everything and she said they were nice, cleaned up after themselves, and the installer explained everything to her and gave her the card so I could look at it. I appreciate the way they did it. The gentleman that was in charge was very nice.

The tub is wonderful. The fill-up is wonderful especially because I have the heated seat. I just sit there and play a game and listen to music because I have the surround sound. And once it's filled up, I enjoy it. The only thing is I've got to get a larger hot water tank. Yeah. And they kind of gave an allowance for that when I was signing for it. The rep said he would give me a $750 allowance for another water heater because mine may be too small and it is. So, I have to do warm water instead, which is still good but not as good as it would be if I had the hot water. Other than that, the water goes out fast. I was surprised.

I could get in a tub, but I couldn't get out and someone had to help me out. So, with this experience, my husband would ask, "Are you taking another bath?" I would say, "I sure am." And I'm my husband's caretaker, so I get him to bed and I go in, relax and stay in there as long as I want to. I have let my husband take a shower in there and he loves it. He always said, "Could I take another shower?" He has his own shower. But he likes the tub and I appreciate that because I love it.

But if it was a higher step in front of the door and the door was shorter, we wouldn't have to scrunch over in the corner to shut the door over our feet. If the door was higher, there would be more room for our feet, for the door to slide over. Because we only have an inch. I like the tub.

My wife is 80 and she wanted a walk-in tub with circulation. I liked the way Safe Step made it with the door with the angle on it to go over your knees. It seemed to be the best deal. I was a little surprised at the cost, but that's the way it goes. I was very satisfied with the salesperson and the installers. The sales guy was very informative, easy-going and personable. He didn't really push anything.

The installers said they'd be here about 8:00 and that was the time they showed up, and they were done by 4:00. I was totally surprised because of what they did in that amount of time. It was an installer and his son, and they worked very well together. They had to remove the old tub and replace it with the Safe Step and do the walls. They had to run the electricity because the old tub wasn't a bubble tub. So it had no electricity. They had to change the plumbing somewhat. It was on the same wall, but they had to change it a little bit to do the Safe Step stuff. We picked out the wall that they were going to use for the covering. It was easy. They put down stuff when they had to walk through and put stuff on the carpet. So they wouldn't make anything dirty. They were very clean and concise.

While the son was packing up the stuff, the father explained everything to us. It was real easy. It was a very good quality of work. They caulked everything really nicely. But the remote control got misplaced. So I called the Safe Step line if I need help and said, "Hey, I'm looking for a remote. What would I have to do here?" The lady took my name and address, and we got it in the mail this morning. So it was very quickly done.

I went over to the tub and pushed the on button, and everything came on. With the remote, I can change the settings without having to reach over my wife in the tub. With her sight, she can't read those buttons very well. So I can come in there and say, "Hey, you want the air? You want the water? What do you want? We can take care of it." We got the Safe Step tub with all the goodies. The bubble things are nice. My wife likes everything about it. I call it my bathroom car because I pay less for my cars than I paid for this tub. But we're hoping it helps my kids sell the house.

Safe Step Walk-in Tubs' sales person came out. I liked him. He was very knowledgeable. He explained the tub to both dad and I. And he wasn't a pushy person. He went outside and walked around, and let us discuss whether that's what we wanted to do and go with him, versus somebody else. The installation was interesting, because the unit is already put together. The biggest portion of it was getting it out of the truck, unpacking it, while somebody was on the inside demolishing the shower and tub that was inside. I went back and forth and watched both the destroying of the tub in the shower. I also went back out and watched them put the finishing touches, all the pieces that go on the unit that came in in separate boxes before they took it inside the house. They covered our wood floors with cloth.

The only thing that I wasn't happy about is our hot water tank wasn't big enough. And I had to buy a booster. I thought that they should have put on that booster that goes under the water tank for me, instead of me having to pay a plumber to do it. I ordered the part because it would probably be necessary to do it. But when I ordered the part, I thought I could talk Safe Step into putting it in for me, because they were doing plumbing and putting the tub in. But they wouldn't touch it.

The tub has a fast drain on it. It takes 20 minutes to fill it up, but it takes three minutes to empty it. That's one nice thing about it. I don't have to sit there in dirty water, wait for it to empty out. It has these controls on the tub, and it also has a remote control that you can use to turn the power on the tub. You can turn the heated seat on. You can bluetooth your telephone to it to play music. You can turn the jets and the water on. As you're filling it up, you have to sit in it and shut the door before you turn it on. That's why you want the heater on the seat turned on. But you put your feet down inside of it, and once it gets a bit of water, you can turn on the jets on the bottom portion and you can start letting it massage your feet. It's put together very well.

The installers got here about 9:00. They were done by 5:00. They were gone for an hour and a half because they had to go get parts and lunch and dump the trash. They were very efficient. It was a husband-and-wife team.

The tub has great quality. There's only one sad thing about it. We bought it for my wife because she had back problems and she wanted me to get a bubbler in our regular tub. I said, “How am I gonna get you in and out?” So, we were always thinking about that walk-in tub. We ordered it for her to recuperate, and it took three weeks before they installed it. She never got a chance to get in it. She passed away on June 13th, and it was all for her. She got to ask us to come and give her a shower in it, but she never soaked in the tub.

The experience with Safe Step was positive when I reached out to them. It was prompt. The installation was done in half a day and it was fantastic. I like everything about the walk-in tub except the music because the volume is too low. I have a bad back and hip and the walk-in tub has been making things easier. But you need a one-inch-thick pad or something you can put out over the curve where the seat goes down to the lower part of the tub so that you can scrunch down in there and get fully submerged.

There are some things going on in my life recently and it slowed me down a bit. Before I get any older, I wanted a walk-in tub to help keep me in my house. My Safe Step tub is expensive but it's a nice fixture. I do like it. It's got a panel on it. You can either use your fingers or a remote control. I've got back, neck and leg problems, and it's nice to have a sauna in the house. It's like a sauna. It's very relaxing when you get in. I have a hard time sleeping, and it relaxes me well. They put an overhead shower in it for me too with a rain showerhead.

The rep who came over, Mark, was really congenial. He was really smart. On the scale of 1 to 10, I'd rate him a 9-plus on intelligence. He was very helpful. I'll give him a 10 on being a nice person. He was very good on follow-up. The installation crew was very nice and quick. They seemed to know what they were doing. They could have done a little bit better on the caulk job, but it's all right. Other than that, I bought a remote control with them that didn't work, but they came back four days later, coming through the area, and dropped one off at my house. Safe Step stood by their contract. I enjoy the product. It's probably one of the nicest ones in the industry.

I turned the water on, but the tub wasn't filling up. I thought I closed it properly, then finally, I stood up and noticed that the water was all over the damn floor. All my hardwood floor is gonna have to be replaced now. Safe Step said that they would come out, but I can't believe that there isn't something to stop the tub from flooding my house if the door wasn't properly closed (other people can't either). There should have been a signal that it wasn't properly closed. I'm terrified now, and I don't know if I'll ever use it again. Also, the installers didn’t spend much time with me. One guy was trying to make sure my check cleared, and the other guy was drilling a hole in the bedroom wall. It was a mess.

Once it gets full though, it's fine. I like the microbubbles because I've got some skin irritation on my legs and that helps. The tub drains quickly too. If we're gonna take a shower and we're not gonna sit down on the seat, we have to be fairly thin to get past the door, but we manage to do it. My husband had his 92nd birthday last week and the big thing was the tub. Everyone that came had to go look at the tub, and they asked about it.

We're 80 and 87 years old, and we opted to do a walk-in instead of get a hot tub and take a chance on falling or not being able to get in and out. The sales rep's job was very easy as I already knew I wanted the Safe Step tub before he came. The installation was very good. The tub was supposed to come with Bluetooth speakers and it didn't come with that. But that was probably because the tub was done a whole lot faster than it was supposed to be. When the installation guy was showing me how the tub worked, he mentioned that when it turned on and it was blinking blue, that's when it was trying to Bluetooth connect to the phone. When I asked him where were the speakers because I was going to get my phone and try it out, he mentioned that he didn't see the speakers when it was being installed. He also said that he would have to order those. I haven't heard anything back since then but we got it installed in June and we're still in June. Besides that, I like everything else about the tub and I would tell my friends to get it. It's completely worth it and I brag about the tub to everybody I speak to.

Safe Step's sales rep went through all the steps of telling us about their product and explained some of the deficiencies of some of the other products. Then, they gave us a timeline for the installation of two weeks after ordering, but it took three to four weeks to get the tub installed. The installers were professional and pretty clean. But we had a cast iron tub, so there were little dust and particles that I needed to get. After the installers got done, they filled up the tub and showed us that there were no leaks. And we had to wait 24 hours before we could use it.

At the end of 24 hours, my father got in and it had a leak at the bottom of the door. I went through several bath towels sopping up the leak. I called for maintenance, they came out to do a couple of things, and the tub hasn't leaked since. So overall, it wasn't the worst thing in the world. It's just that you've waited four weeks for the tub and when you get ready to use it, you can't. The other thing is, they were supposed to have an electrician on site to hook it up but there was some sort of miscommunication. The electrical portion of that didn't get scheduled for the time of the install, so there was a delay of a day or two for that as well.

Other than that, the tub is very nice. But I'm six foot two and I would like a little more leg room in the tub if that was possible. I assumed since there are some edging on three sides of it that it had more room where it could have expanded. Also, in the opening that we have, there seems to be several inches on your front, back, and side. So if they would make a longer version, that would be great.

Everybody involved was absolutely pleasant. The installers were really proper. They did and explained everything. So we had a real good experience with the people that we dealt with. The installers had to cut the door open. They tore the doorframe out and then they had to cut into the wall. They put it back but you can see where they cut into the wall. The line is still there where they cut it, which I thought they should have fixed. But otherwise, they did a hell of a nice job. But I hate the tub. It's too small. I'm 6’4 and I can barely get in it. I was told that I'd be able to sit down and be comfortable, but it's hard for me to stand up and sit in it and use the Jacuzzi part of it. I have to sit down and then my knees are up against the front. So it’s pretty much non-workable for me, and this thing drains so slow.

For how small the tub was and considering all Safe Step did was put a tub in, it was way overpriced. Originally, the way it was priced when we looked at it, they were facing the walls and I said, “No. Why would you tear this out when it's perfectly sealed lifetime guaranteed?” I was trying to get them to put the tub inside of what was there because if something happened to my wife, I'd rip it back out, especially right now because it's not efficient for me. I have to sit down to take a shower and use the hand one. There's nothing pleasurable about it to me. It’s just so tight to get in even for my wife. I wish it was a bigger tub and they fixed the wall when they got it out. But otherwise, they were quite professional.

But we've got Safe Step to come back and complete their little bit of flaws that they had when they installed the tub. There are some scratches and along the backside of the tub on the back wall. They had a little filler piece that went in there. They cut it out of a sheet. They left the cutting exposed and sharp.

Safe Step was pretty prompt coming out about a week. The installer was on his way to another job to do and he was close by so he swung in. He put a little plastic strip on there to cover the exposed cut edge. But he left the electrical box that was inside to power the tub laying. I said, “This is not gonna fly with me. You got a board back there, screw it to it.” He ended up zip tying it to some of the fixture under there, which is fine. It’s not flopping around. Underneath the house the electrical cable run from the breaker box to the tub. He just left it laying down. So I said, “This has got to be up. We got too many rats out here in the country. They'd like to chew on wires.” But he just tied it up. They can still chew on it. For the amount of money we paid, I expected a little bit better installation than what they did.

Some of the features of the tub are not accurate. The tub can be used for the back or the feet or both. It does not work on both. There is almost no water out of the foot jets and the back is marginal. The foot jets are not great even when it's on just feet. There are 2 jets that target the back of the calf that are strong and are on the same circuit as the foot jets, but the feet are disappointing. The seat sits too high for me, I can either do my lower back or my shoulders but not both, I am 5'7.

I had them out to troubleshoot the foot issue and I was told it's as good as it gets. Overall very disappointed in this very expensive investment. Maybe a bigger motor for the jets would be an improvement. Last is the drain, it's by the seat instead of by the faucet end so when you shower you tend to step on the drain closing it and filling the tub which causes soap scum issues.

I like that you can get in, you can fill it part way up. I have trouble with my knee. If I just wanna put enough water in it to get my knees in there, I can do that. Go for Safe Step. So far, it's been wonderful. The salesman was very knowledgeable, truthful, and honest. The product seems to be everything he said it was. We're very happy.

Safe Step’s reps did a good job of selling and I was convinced that it was a good tub. After they went in my bathroom and came back out and brought the price out with them, I was a little startled. It was expensive but I decided that probably was comparable with other tubs. They brought the tub, put in the driveway and asked me to sit in it. And I got in it. But I couldn't move my arms out to the side or my elbows out. So, they said I needed the bigger tub. They took the little one back and came back with the bigger one in about three weeks. They took my garden tub out that had all the jets and put this tub in.

The day they came back with my tub, they called me to tell me that they had brought the same one that they brought the first time and they were gonna come and do the plumbing work and the electrical work that day. And they would go back to Kennesaw and bring the bigger tub the next day and finish installing it. They came but they didn't have enough material. And they were supposed to center it on the window, which is in the bathroom and they didn't do that. I haven't even taken a bath yet in that tub and that's been since March 24th when they finished installing it. So, I'm very disappointed. I had to have somebody come back. They sent another person to re-caulk all the caulking and get the footprints out from where they wore the shoes in the bathtub. I asked them to come back and center the tub where it should be and put the third shelf up. I talked to my project manager twice before they came to install it and she just stayed busy all the time.

It’s a good thing I have a shower in that bathroom also but I need a walk-in tub because I have a neuropathy in my left leg. I've had four bypasses and two open back surgeries and rotator cuff surgery. I was looking forward at 74 to be able to get in the tub and relax and Safe Step didn't come through for me. I paid for the tub the day that they finished installing. And they didn't want me to take pictures until they were finished. It just goes on and on.

I haven't heard any more from Safe Step. They told me to call the guy who sold it to me. I called him but he was tired of hearing from me, and he never answered me. And I called back like they told me to, to Tennessee. The installation manager and the service manager told me to call them the next day if that person didn't call me, and he didn't call me. I called them and left messages like they told me to do. And they never called me. I’ve yet to call the Better Business Bureau. I don't want anybody else to have to go through with that.

So, it was a cool interaction. As far as the walk-in tub, I like the jets. I put a call in to Safe Step because the remote is not working and there are other things that I need attention and they said they would have somebody call me to make an appointment.

The installation crew of Safe Step was very good. They didn't waste any time. We live in a condominium and our condominium approved them putting it in. They told me they could get it in in two days. This place is built like a fort. They ran into some problems they weren't expecting. The concrete is so heavy here that the jackhammer they brought wasn't really strong enough to do the job as quickly and as efficiently as they wanted. So they had to tear a little bit extra. But they got it done. They explained to me on the second day when it was completed how to work it. They gave me the manuals and told me that I would have an inspection at a certain time and they asked me to please have the tub filled to a certain level so that when the inspector came he could immediately get to what he needed to do to check it.

Everything went like clockwork. The inspector came exactly when they told me he was going to. The guy was happy with it. He wasn't here very long. He went through whatever all he does. I used it and I had a question about something. I called my salesman and he answered it. I did exactly what he said. I had the plastic-covered instructions out. I'm happy with it. I have good water pressure here and that enables it to get right on what it needs to do.

So far, it looks very nice and easy to clean. The only thing I have a little problem with is cleaning behind the door. Once it's been used and I can clean part of it while I'm in there, there's some of that stuff I don't wanna spray on me when I spray in it. I have to lean over the door and get in behind it to make sure I've got everything out of there. But it's one of those things I'm gonna learn more as time goes on with it.

He made a sale but I wasn't really ready to make a sale. I was ready to find the information from two or three different people, but he cut the corners very sharply and told us what was there.

The installers were very prim and proper. They cleaned everything up and it was like brand new when we walked in. I only use it twice a week though because the electric hot water heater is expensive. I'm thinking about putting a 100-gallon natural gas hot water heater in, that might take some burden off the cost of electricity.

My husband has medical problems and I also have right foot problems. Our daughter who lives with us had surgery for both of her feet. My husband was worried since we're getting older and he didn't want to leave us having to deal with our bathtubs and showers. He wanted to make sure that we could get a shower while we are sitting down and wanted it to be more comfortable for us.

The salesperson that came out was really great. He showed videos and talked to us and explain everything to us. He was very thorough and he answered all the questions. Also, we deal right with the people that are building the product and bringing it to us. The sales guy told us that with a lot of places if you have a problem with the product, you call one person who has to call another person because that is not their deal and it was somebody else's responsibility. We didn't want to deal with any third parties. We know we have one phone call to make to Safe Step and it'll get handled.

The installer came on Thursday and started the work. They were there early at nine o'clock. We left at about 11:00 and by the time we got to Disney World and were checking in, my husband was calling me, saying the installers were almost done with both of the walk-in tubs. They came back the next day and checked on it. The crew was great. They were three guys. It was beating and banging for a little while. I didn't realize how much it took to take out the wall and knock the door then put everything back. I left for three days with things on the front yard and when I came back, both the two bathrooms were transformed. The crew cleaned up everything afterwards.

We had one minor leak in my daughter's bathtub around the door area. When we got back on Sunday, she took a bath that night and that’s when we realized there was a leak. We called Safe Step on Monday and they were there the day after. It was just one man that came back and he sealed up the leak immediately. He checked both of the walk-in tubs, though.

My daughter paid her deposit on her bathroom and the contract’s in her name. She has her walk-in tub in her bathroom and we have ours in our bathroom. It's awesome and she loves it. It seemed like a lot of money for the two of them initially but in the long run, it was worth it. Our daughter works nights and sleeps days. She loves on the weekends to just take a nice, hot bath. She actually used the micro air and she told me how soft her skin is now. She can't get over that.

I love the hand nozzle because I can sit down and do my hair. There's also the room that we've got around it to put things in. It may look small, but it does afford us a lot more room than I thought it did. I've only taken a bath a couple of times since I got the walk-in tub. One of the first things Safe Step showed us was the thing in the back that could hold the oils. It pretty much has everything. My daughter has a place to set up her phone on one of these little holders and she just relaxes with the pillow.

Updated on 04/28/2023: The two gentlemen that were here for the installation were very courteous. They did a beautiful job. If there was any explaining they needed to do, they explained to us. It was a very good experience. The total process took six to seven hours. We just probably should put in a bigger hot water heater. The quality of the work was very nice. We had hot tubs before, so it would have been nicer to have a bigger tub. The gentleman said that if they had made a bigger one, they'd have to put it in before the rest of the house is built.

We've had hot tubs before, and you can stretch out. You really can't stretch out in the Safe Step. The features are fine. The water jets are a little bit on the harsh side for me. The airflow is much gentler. Another thing is that I noticed in their advertisements that everybody's sitting in there with bubble baths, and in the instructions, it says, “Do not use bubble bath.” Other than those, I'm very happy with Safe Step.

Original Review: We have no order number, just dates and signatures. We have received a call asking when would be a good installation date stating the tub could be here in a week or so and we advised that we are ready on 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, & 6 in March. We have not received a date yet.

After changing the elements and thermostat in my hot water heater and still not having enough hot water to fill the tub I measured out 50 gallons and it didn’t fill the tub enough to cover the jets even with me in the tub. The salesman misrepresented how much water it takes to fill the tub. They also said the tub has heated seats. The seats barely get warm and take 20 minutes to do so at which time the heat automatically turns off. The installers were totally unprofessional and sloppy. I can’t believe I paid almost $20,000.00 for a tub that uses way more than 50 gallons of hot water and still doesn’t totally fill the tub. It also takes a long time to fill before you can enjoy the bath. Total waste of money. I feel like calling Safe Step and telling them to remove it.

The sales rep did an absolutely excellent job presenting the product and had everything answered. He's obviously qualified, intelligent, and presents a product very, very well. In today's world, too many people wear masks. He was in the house and he had a mask on. I said, “That's not necessary.” He pulls it down halfway, blow his nose and mouth, and you have trouble understanding him. I gave him permission to take it off in my house. We weren't worried. That may be minor, but it annoyed me. It doesn’t look very professional.

A set of techs came over for the installation and determined they couldn't do the wiring. The house has some odd configurations. But he was a very polite and nice guy. I'm not an electrician but I told him what I thought would work but he said he couldn't do it that way. So he left. Someone called the Director of Installation called me after a couple of days and sent someone over, his partner, and they looked at it and they determined, “Yeah, we can do this. But here's how.” It was actually the way I suggested to start with. I'm not criticizing that. I'm not an electrician and they know what's ultimately best.

Days passed and I had to follow up and say, “Hey, you calling me about this or not?” But his guy's out of town. So a couple more days passed and two guys came over. They were very professional electricians. They must have taken an hour and a half, which I didn't care when done right. Then they left, and this “Director of Installation” had to get “permission” to run it that way to me interprets that you've been lying to me because you had your own company, and to spend the extra money from Safe Step, you had to get permission. Now, that was deceitful.

The second set of techs came over to install the tub and they were super fine guys. They were friendly but not jovial. They were also professional. The product looks great. Everybody compliments it. But there were a couple of minor glitches as far as how it fits. I'm not happy with the tub. The first time we tried to use it, it wouldn't work. I turned the breaker on and we tried it the next time, switching modes through the breaker again. So I called Safe Step and complained.

I talked to the first lady named Sable. She said she'd start a work ticket on that, and they’d get right to it and appreciated my concern. One week later, I called back and said nobody contacted me. I've talked to another lady and she said, “Well, we give the techs 5 to 10 days to respond to a complaint.” I just paid $18,000 for this tub and they were too busy to take care of a problem. They told me that I can use it without the modes. I said, ‘I didn’t buy an $18,000 tub. I wanted all the benefits.”

Then I was referred to someone else who quoted me their policy. I said, “Let me explain something to you. I'm not stupid. I'm a businessman and arbitrator and mediator and I dealt with some networks in my life. Policy exists for one reason. They screw the ability to utilize common sense. No one would listen to me and get the same policy. I don't like that.” Again, they said they were booked out heavy. The attitude from Safe Step is, “We’ll look at you when we choose to.” To this date, no one has even called me after me calling. The tub is rendered useless.

The salesman was a salesman, and he told me things that made it sound like it was exactly what I wanted. When they came to install the tub, the door leaked and they had to make some adjustments, and they thought they had it fixed, so they left. Then after several times of flooding my bathroom, I called them back because I kept trying to figure out now what I was doing wrong, and it wasn't me. They came and readjusted the tub. The repairman gave me some tips on how to keep the water warm and how to use the tub, which I didn't know before. I couldn't figure it out from the instructions. But even now, the water gets cold before the tub gets completely full. It might be a problem with our water heater because my husband tried to use it without using the tub at all, and it just run water, and the same thing happened. It didn't fill the tub and it got cold. So we adjusted the hot water heater. We're gonna see if that makes any difference.

Safe Step had so many safety features that it doesn't really work. It doesn't keep the water hot. If I had an inline heater, then it will be able to keep the water warmer itself without depending on my hot water heater. When I'm in my tub, I can't use hot water for anything else. It takes my whole 80 gallon tank to do it. So that's the big problem right now. Also, they only have the door open towards the tub. Afterwards, I was looking for options and there are manufacturers that make a U-shaped opening, and it looked like in the picture, it had two closures for the door. That would be much better. Even the way this Safe Step tub works, it would be awkward for a big person to get in. I have a cleaning lady and she asked, "How do you clean behind the door?" You have to get completely in the tub and squat down to clean behind the doorway. So it's just awkward.

The placement of my shower for my mom to get in was a problem. So, we have another bathroom that just had a tub, and I said, “You know what? Let's check these out.” My mom is okay to get in the Safe Step, but when you open the door to get in, it hides that bar for her to grab to get in. It's behind the door. So, she tries to grab the door. I go, “No, mom. You gotta go behind the door.” She's 94 so she's not dexterous. I also can't even shut the door. It is so hard to push that handle down to make a seal. I have a hard time. I have to take a towel and help push it because it hurts my hand. So, I wasn't happy about that. That's a struggle, that I don't know how an older lady would do it by herself. It makes it a bit easier for me because I can hang on the outside. And the cleanup is a little easier, but it is hard for her to get her out and to try to grab that handlebar that is behind the door. That's crazy.

Also, we have that overhead shower, but it doesn't reach the seat. So, the shower comes down on her feet. But now she's cold because she's just sitting there in the air. There's no water to run on top of her. She can't get closer. The handheld shower’s great, but she only has one hand so she can't hold it and wash. So, she can't use that tub. I thought she was going to be able to sit there and take her time and wash herself, but she can't do that because she's not under the water so it's cold. I turn on the heated seat. She loves that. I put the lights on and she likes the little dancing lights. But as for her to do this herself, it's not conducive to that. You can't take a shower in there unless you can stand. I have to hold the handheld while I wash her back and she's washing herself.

And she doesn't want that whole tub filled. She can't wash her lower half if she's in a bathtub. After she passes on, I'll probably love it because I would want the whirlpool. Because I have a shower in my other bathroom, so I wouldn't use it as a shower. I would use it as a hot tub. But I didn't need to buy that big thing. I could have just bought a whirlpool bathtub for me. But that wasn't the point. It’s for mom. I wouldn't want someone to spend a lot of money on something that didn't touch anything that I wanted. And that’s sad because the salesman was here and he met my mom. He knew her limitations. I didn't have anything to look at but a picture, so it's not like I could tell. Until you put somebody in it, you just don't know.

I love the bathtub. The tub itself is fantastic. But the installers did a terrible job. They did such a bad job that a second person had to come and clean up their mess, but he didn't do a very good job either. When he left, the rain shower doesn't even turn on now and the shower bar that holds it up to the wall is loose. He left caulk. He didn't clean up the caulk as he should've. That was what I was expecting him to take care of. I've already spoken to their customer service people and they're ready to come back and repair everything and get it right. I wanted to talk to the sales manager and when he did call me back, there was something going on with one of our phones and we kept getting disconnected.

I appreciated everyone with the Safe Step business, except for the installers they sent. They were personable and very kind, and they kept telling me, "You'll be happy. We'll make sure you're happy before we leave." But they did the exact opposite. In fact, they rushed out of here. One was sitting in the car waiting while the other one was quickly going through telling me about the tub and the functions.

The first people that came out and installed the tub said they can only go 48 inches high with the surround of it. But when Tim came out, he said “Oh, we can do different from that.” He used this shiplap on the walls and he did just perfect. The tub is a beautiful product and we're just getting used to it.

The installers came and installed the Safe Step tub. I had considered putting a different ceiling in, but I wasn't sure, and it was left unfinished. But the tub was in. Then after that, I had to have surgery and I was laid out for a couple of weeks. Because the bathroom is right off my bedroom, I didn't want anybody coming back. So I called Safe Step as soon as I felt better and said, "Can we get this fixed?" I got passed on and then they said somebody was coming up on Friday. But it went on and on. Sometimes they didn't return my calls. So I told them, "Look, I've given you plenty of time. It's not a big job to finish this up.” But they kept saying, "Well, we’ll be out Friday." I said, "Could you possibly do it before Thanksgiving? I'd like to share this with some of my friends. It's good PR for you.” But none of them called me back.

The product is well-made and they're very friendly. But the thing is with Safe Step, they were cash payment. When the workmen walk out, they want a check for the full amount. I did that and then I thought afterward, that's not right. Sometimes it's good to do that. I'm not against it. But usually, you’ll have an option of invoicing you in 30 days for the balance. If they told me that they were shorthanded and that they got a lot going on before Thanksgiving and they couldn't do it, then it was no big deal. I understand that. I left Safe Step somewhat of an acrimonious voicemail saying, "You know, this isn't right. Just tell me what's going on. You asked me to pay in full, and I still have an unfinished tub.” They said someone will come out on Thursday.

The rep was very informative and nice. But when the installers put that tub in, they messed up my tile. They chopped up three bucketloads of my tile. If I had known that, I could have got my tile man over here and he'd have got every bit of it and I could've saved it. When I got down there to the bedroom, they had already chopped it up and put it in the buckets and thrown it out. I also had an issue with the door. So I called the rep and told him about it last night. He said he would see what he could do. It's gonna cost me something to get my doorframe fixed. Whoever drove those nails in that doorframe didn't know how to drive a nail. It went all the way through the wood. But the installers were nice and polite. They had to come back a second time because it wouldn't drain. So the other guy came and got it straightened out.

It's nice to get in the tub, but it takes so long for it to go out and I have to sit there shivering and turn the heater on overhead. Also, Safe Step needs another pull bar in there. When you stand up in the thing and try to get out of that tub, you got nothing but one little hand bar up there on the front and you got to hold the pipe the hand sprayer comes out of. I have a very hard time. I have to stand up in it and hold on to that bar on the right and one on the left, and then I got no arm to get out with.

But my mother doesn't have a problem with that because once the water gets up to her feet where she's able to turn on the jets, she washes her feet or scrubs them, and she's using the jet. I like that you can just walk in and out of the tub without a problem. I have three handicap bars and I have where you put the soap. I can move the showerhead and adjust it for my wife, who uses the chair, and for me as I stand up. This walk-in tub has impacted my life a whole lot. It's much easier for my wife. I don't have to really sit there and watch her to make sure she can get in and out without falling. She just slides right in and out and sits right on the commode or comes to sit in the chair and dry off.

I said I wanted a floor-level tub and that he could leave. He said no and asked to show me what they have. So, he showed me the floor-level walk-in arrangement but not really a tub.

The installation was good and the guys were very efficient. The shower curtain was hung higher than I expected though. I have a 7-inch open spot from the bottom of the shower curtain to the floor so I'm trying to get some little things that will shield the water from going out of the tub. Their shower curtain rod is fixed in and I can't move it around. Also, my water pressure isn't high and that's unusual because the water pressure in every other outlet is good. I don't know if that's them or I just need more water pressure or what to do. But I’m glad the installation is over. Safe Step was okay and I got my money's worth.

The sales rep from Safe Step was very good. He was friendly and professional. My only issue was the salesman said that the job would take one day, and that was absolutely false. It took two and a half days because of the plumbing. They had to take out the old shower and I didn't have a problem with that. I only had a problem with the fact that he said it would be one day. I would have felt better if he had said, "We usually try to get it done in one day, but sometimes we can't." What I had to do was rearrange my schedule and that annoyed me because it was last minute. If I had an idea, then I could have planned ahead of time, and then I would have been okay.

The two gentlemen that came to the house to take care of it were absolutely wonderful. I have nothing negative to say about them. They explained the entire process to me. They explained what was going to go on, what was going to be done, and what needed to be done. If they ran into a snag, they told me and said, "This is what's going on. We have to do this." The first snag that we encountered was that the tub that they brought me was too small. They had to call in and order a larger tub. So, that took almost three-quarters of the day.

I like the tub. There is one feature that has to do with the jets that I haven't learned how to use yet. When I turn on the jet, it splashes everywhere. The jets come out from the back and the sides and it always winds up making more of a mess. That's not a big deal though. The other features are really good. I'm still trying to adjust the handle because it always feels like when I'm gonna close it and put a lot of pressure on it, I keep thinking I'm gonna snap it, but I was able to call them and they told me I'm not going to snap it. I just have to pull it in.

Safe Step was by far the better tub of the best three choices that I could find. And I had them come to the house. So, I talked to Safe Step a little bit and they were the highest one. I got them down to where I wanted, so we went with it. The installation crew was great. The two guys tore the old shower out, put the tub up and they cleaned it. They did everything. They kept asking me, “Is there anything else that you know of we can do?” I suggested a couple of things, and they did it for me. They really did great.

We love the walk-in tub. Back when I first got the tub, I weighed 360 and I was scared that I couldn't get in. They brought it to the porch. They set it down. They unpacked it and made me get in it outside the house before they even bring it in the house. They even said that if I didn't like the way it fit me and I couldn't get in it good enough, they’d pack it back up and wouldn't cost me a penny. I could get in it and it took probably two hours for them to do all of that. They brought it on in and started installing it. I would recommend the product highly. It's got that microbubble that puts the microbubbles into the water. That thing is great. I’ve got really bad dry skin, and those micro air bubbles get in and break that dry skin off. It's really great.

I had an old-fashioned clawfoot bathtub and now I have to use a walker, and I couldn't use the clawfoot bathtub unless there was somebody here to help me in the bathtub and supervise it. So, I wanted something that I could use myself that would make me more independent. I chose Safe Step. There were two guys here most of the day, which I understood was going to happen because it involves both electricity and plumbing. They did their job very well. A guy came that evening to check it out, and I gave him a check. It was all very much as I was told to expect. It was done very well. The installation looks great. It's sort of like my trophy thing. I haven't used it as much yet. I had to leave a few days for the epoxy to just set, but I used it a couple of times and it's great. The handheld shower is terrific, so I use that.

I could care less about having lights and music. It’s just not my thing. I just want to get in and get cleaned. I’ve done it without the jets on and with the jets on. I contacted Safe Step because the first time I used it, I had my home health care aide here and I didn't want to use it the first time without somebody around in case they screwed up. What happened was it was draining very slowly. So, she had to use a pot to bail me out. You can't open the door unless the water level is below the level of the door. So, it took a while for her to do that, but not as long as it would have if I just drained it.

I spoke to somebody at Safe Step, and they told me to use Drano, which I haven't gotten yet. I just lifted off the lid on the top of the drain so it flows more quickly then. I'm just going in and using the handheld shower, and not filling it up. I'm very pleased with it because I don't have to climb over this high thing anymore and I can use it myself. My new tub makes me more independent. I don't have to wait for somebody to come around and give me a shower, which I did before because I live alone. I have a home health aide, so I could only get into the bath if I had somebody to help me bathe. Now, I can do it myself.

I like Safe Step. I did a little bit of research, and I wanted the company that was made here in Tennessee. So, that was even a better plus because my mother and father are both from the state of Tennessee. The sales rep who came by was good and thorough. I asked a ton of questions and I even have a picture of me in my tub out in the street because the reps brought it and asked me to sit in it to make sure that it was gonna be okay. It was a little too narrow and the rep sent it back and Safe Step built another one that was a little bit wider. So, everything was good.

I was telling a friend of mine about my experience when I got stuck in the bathtub. I got in the bathtub and I couldn't get out and when I couldn't sit myself over to get out of the bathtub, I said that I will never get down in this bathtub again. And I bought a Safe Step Walk-in Tub after that. Because I was not going to get stuck in the tub and have to call 911 and have them come and get me out of the bathtub. I've told all of my friends to get the walk-in tub now instead of later because even if you end up having home help or long-term health care, and somebody has to come and bathe you, it is easier to be bathed in a walk-in tub than it is in the traditional tub.

Everything went well with the installation team. But I tell everyone that the price that you see on there is just a starting price. You never know whether you're going to need a bigger hot water tank or whether you need your pipes redone, which I had to because they were rusting from the inside. I have two daughters and I love them immensely. But I didn't work all of these years to save money and have a good retirement and investment fund to save it and leave it for them. So, I am using the money that I worked for to make life good for me. I retired already but I'm doing everything to stay in my home.

Quality of life is very big for me. I finally met the man of my life and we loved one another for almost 25 years. After he died and I was in that tub and I couldn't get out, I had a panic attack and hyperventilated, and I thought of how I could get out of this tub. Something told me that one extra day is not promised to us and it's okay to spend our money on ourselves to make sure that we live a good life in our later years. I'm only 66 years old but I want to get to that point like my mother who is 92 years old. She still stands up and takes a shower. She gets in that bathtub. I offered her a walk-in tub, but she told me no. If she ever tells me she wants one, I'm gonna drop the money and get her one.

I've had the walk-in tub for a while and I just added the shower package to it. I just had that little handheld thing and it was just something to rinse off after I've washed up. So I called Safe Step and the guy said that they already got my measurements and could send the shower package out. So, we had someone come and add the shower package to my walk-in tub and I love it, and it's great. Even though I'm just your average person living in the average type house, in the average neighborhood, I got a spa back there. I got blue lights, aromatherapy, the bubbles, the lights inside that change colors and I even put an extra light in my bathroom. I told people I can just get in the walk-in tub and get out in five minutes.

I called the company multiple times over the course of the next two week and never did get a quote. I was told that I was "bothering" and "being dis-respectful" the corporate offices. I have since found a contractor that is doing the work I want done but will avoid Safe Step in the future.

Everybody was friendly and it was great. Everything's nice aside from sometimes, I hold it down too long on the remote control. When the blue light flashes in the middle, I don't know what that means other than it can't recognize anything I've done for the last two minutes.

He was concerned with the safety end of it. It has some of those hand holds that you suction cup on the walls. Safe Step should have those in there. They're not safe. We did not get the door. They talked us out of the door, so we got the curtain. There's still a lot of water ending up on the floor outside. I like being able to stand up. The only thing is we didn't have a lot of stuff put in it. Soap, shampoo, and you almost have to open the curtains. We set it outside and that doesn't work well.

Whoever I spoke to made arrangements for someone to come here and speak to us, and to look at the situation with our bathroom that it needed to go in, and our electrical and water heater. And because my husband is also a military veteran, and he is on disability through the VA, all the things that you have in place for the special things like that, she deducted it from the total cost of the walk-in tub. And she said, “Well, this is how much it will cost you.” My husband put down $8,000. So, there was a balance of 13,000 that needed to be financed. She did it right there. Everything was approved the first time when she came. So, that worked out well. But my husband told me yesterday that he had already paid the tub off.

The rep was very friendly and outgoing. She couldn't tell us enough about the tub because she has one too. And they're like us, all of them love it. She showed us pictures also of customers that she had that have had different health issues with their limbs. And they had great improvement since using the tub with the jets. She was very smart about the tub.

The people that came to install the tub were very knowledgeable and did everything nice. When they came to install the tub, they brought it in and made sure that I would be able to get in and out of it because I only have one leg. They went ahead and installed it, and they were very efficient. It all went very well. The whole family loves it. And being able to get in and out of it, and our little three-year-old grandson likes to sit in the tub and get a shower, and push the buttons for the light. He said it's a spaceship. The deal about his fears about getting his head washed or soap in his eyes, when he found out that he could control the whole situation, it was amazing. And the lights, when you sit on the bench.

I’ve offered for my friends to come and use it here. I have a home health nurse. And when she comes, I tell her she could use the tub any time she wants. And she said she has been trying to talk her husband into getting one of those. I said, “I have the information, if you need it. But you could try it first.” And she said, “I might take you up on that one of these days.” I would love for everybody to know and to have a chance to be able to afford it. Because emotionally and physically, it is a calming, soothing experience. My daughter said, “You turn the bathroom lights on. You turn the tub lights on. And you just sit there and let the jet just gurgle. I don't want to get out of it.” My husband went in there a week ago. And he was in that bathtub for 45 minutes. He likes sitting in there with the jets. He loves it. I'm happy that we got it. I'm 79 and he’s soon to be 85. That was our present. It would be a wonderful housewarming gift for you.

When the salesman from Safe Step came, he told us that the people coming to do this installation would be certified plumbers and electricians, which was a lie. Neither of them was certified in anything. I asked them when they got here and they just do installation work. But the fellas were nice enough. I did have one issue with the way they did the work. They had to run an electric line across the outside of my home to run current in for this unit. I asked them if they were going to put that in a PCV conduit and the guy said they didn't work with conduit. The best they could do would just run the PCV line on the outside of the house.

There are PCVs that are designed so that they can be exposed on the outside but the code says they're supposed to be in conduit. This unit that's installed here is actually contrary to the electrical code. If some inspector comes by and looks at that, he would order that this whole be taken out and it would be up to me to pay to put it back in. That leaves a real bad taste in my mouth. Other than that, they had the work done in the day like they said they would.

But the salesman also told me about how roomy this was and how easy it would be to move around it but the space is so small. They say you can take a shower in there but I don't know how you do it unless you're a contortionist. There's no place to move. I've almost fallen in it twice. And the door is so small, I can't get through it. They said that door's advantageous because I can lean on it and so on but I'd rather have a big door where I can walk through it. The other thing is those water jets in there spray every place except where I need them. I had this terrible excruciating pain and I told myself that hydrotherapy should do something for that but the nozzles in that unit don't strike my body where the therapy needs to be applied.

The way they advertise this tub is absolutely fraudulent and I intend to report this to the Better Business Bureau. I tried to call the guy who sold us the unit but he wouldn't return the call. Then, I tried to contact Safe Step and I was put on hold and I never got ahold of anybody. I can't speak to anyone and I really feel like I've been taken advantage of. I was a lot better off having a shower stall installed in my home. It's just a matter of me expending electrical energy, wasting water to fill the tub, and then getting no substantive relief out of it except a bill for $20,000. It's a $20,000 boondoggle and if I knew what I know now, it wouldn't be in my bathroom. If there's anything I can do to discourage anyone else from buying one, I sure as the devil will do that.

They said to take pictures and I took pictures but nobody came back to fix it.

The only thing is that you have to totally relax to take a bath in the tub because it takes a longer time for the water to run out. But away from that, it is very safe for me because I had two hip replacements and two knee replacements. One of my top reason for purchasing this tub is because I used to step over into the regular shower, and I slipped about an inch. It was so scary because I was home, and if I had dropped in it, I wouldn't have anybody to help me out. Another thing is that I can't use a regular bath to get into. So this is nice for me to sit and let the water fill up and just wade myself in it. So it's more comforting for me. The features are good, like the warm seat.

It looks pretty good. The only thing was there was a shelf at the wall that I couldn't move. I told them, “Well, you guys would have to move that,” and they didn't. They didn't caulk the wall that they put up next to the wall that's in the trailer. They did leave a can of caulk, and I didn't ask them to. It took me several days before I found that, and I called him and that's when he told me that. But I'm disabled and my mother's disabled too, so we can't do it either. So it's like an unfinished job. But he said that I could take some cleaner and get the pencil marks off the wall.

The installers were very nice and polite. They explained what was insured and wasn't warrantied. They showed me how the things worked, filled it up, drained it, and cleaned it, and took pictures. My mother has been able to use it once. It's hard to get her in there. But once she got over being claustrophobic, it went pretty good. The quality seems to be pretty good. We use the micro and the air bubbles in the water and it seemed to work pretty good the one time we used it, and it drained well. It purges itself like 30 minutes after you use it.

My legs are still too big to wiggle in between the door and the seat. It’s just gonna take me time to find the right combination. When I do, it’s gonna feel great. The sales rep did a really good job of explaining what it was, how it worked, and how it helped other people with their circulation. The installers did really well, too. They got it done faster than I thought they would. They had access to the bathroom from an outside door. So, it made it easier. Everything went just like clockwork.
