I like our Safe Step walk-in tub. This is our second one and this one's using Bluetooth. It takes some getting used to and it's expensive. But my favorite feature is the water flow. The installation went well too. The installers were here at 8:00 and got through about 3:00.

We had a sales visit from Safe Step and the lady who came was really good. She told me everything about what was going to happen, the type of people that were coming for the installation, and how many they would be. She said they would be doing it within a day and that was what they did. The installers were very nice guys and their work is excellent quality. The walk-in tub is exactly what we need and it fits perfectly in our bathroom. And we haven't had any issues with it. We like the air and the water jets, as well as the micro bubbles. I usually use the same soft blue light when I'm in the tub. But we switch around from all the different air, water, and bubble, from feet to back. I also feel good about the warranty and I like that if we move, it will move with us at least one time.

We're really enjoying the tub. I was having a lot of pre-cancer type skin issues and it seems like the tub has been helping my skin. The circulation has been good. But most of our friends and family are not going to be able to afford the 22,000 that we paid for the tub. It's just that we had the money at the time from an inheritance, so we decided to do it.

When the installers got here, they couldn't put the tub in because the tub needed to be in the opposite direction. The installer called the company, took the tub back, and it was installed at a slightly later date. We were misled a little bit on the size of the tub for showering. But the quality of the of the people who we dealt with was excellent, except for the salesperson. They fixed it and made it work for us so that we would be happy with it. I enjoy taking my bath, and after I get out of the bathtub, my back and shoulders are much looser than they were when I went in.

My experience with Safe Step has not been good. I haven't stepped foot in the tub. I've not used it. I've had surgery since then. I'm frustrated. I contacted Safe Step, and a guy came by here in Lubbock, Texas. He happened to live in Lubbock, and I thought that was a plus because I had already gotten burned on using a vendor outside of where I live. However, the wrong tub was ordered. It started in September. It was the wrong handle size. So, they had to reorder it. They got the tub in. The people that installed it live in Albuquerque, New Mexico. So, the scheduling has to be around other things happening in this area for it to be installed. It was not, "We got your tub in. We're coming over right now."

The first installer was Terry, and he was very nice and knowledgeable. They came by to look at what would need to be done. He verbalized what he would do to do the demo, which included taking out a shower and the flooring, and taking it down, and then floating it out, and making it level. When the tub was in, I got a call to arrange for a date. Then they had to rearrange that date. They said the original installer was sick and they had to find someone else. They found someone that came over, and he was very nice. But by this time, I was not really feeling well. I was having knee problems. Last week, I had a total knee replacement. And all this was an anticipation of what was gonna be happening. I was trying to get the tub in, try it and get some aromatherapy as well as the jet therapy on the leg.

The second guy that came in worked by himself. I said, "You don't have a helper?" He said, "No. I can do it." He demoed everything. I was not anticipating the damage that was gonna be done. I knew part of what's gonna have to be done. I have pictures. Nothing's happened. It's still in the installation. Nothing has been done to correct how it was installed. I didn't know who to contact. I called the sales guy who said that I could contact him. I left a message. He didn't call me. I called back a few days later. My number would have come up on his phone, and I've never heard back from him.

I didn't like the interchangeable and different contractors. Out of all this mess, there was only one contractor that really knew what he was doing. The other guy was really not a contractor. He installed the tub on two by fours, which added another three inches on to the height of stepping into the tub. He should have known it didn't need to be floated out for it to be level on the ground. His method of leveling it was putting it on two by fours. I went back there and looked at it, and I said, "It's two by fours." He said, "It's up." I said, "I won't fall through?" "No, no. It's leveled. You'll be fine."

I was too upset to even talk to him because it was during Christmas. He was in a hurry to get here. There was something that was wrong that they were anticipating that I had to take care of plumbing-wise. He said, "Well, I'll come back through Houston. I'm going down to Houston for Christmas. When I come back, if it's done, I'll proceed on installing the tub." I said, "It will be done." I made it happen within 48 hours. They had to move hot water lines. I took a picture of where it had been floated out partially, where they had floated out the line on concrete, sent it to the second guy, Patrick, and never heard back from him. He never even acknowledged that he got it.

The Safe Step sales rep wrote down specific instructions for the tub and he drew a great picture. But the installers didn't cooperate. They had to remove a large corner tub in order to put this in. There was this huge hole in the ground and they were just gonna leave the hole even though my contract said that they would fill it. They put a board on top of it and I asked several times if they filled it with concrete and they sort of said, yes. I pulled off the board the next day and saw that they hadn't filled the hole. I stopped payment on the check because they had not done what they said in writing. Then, it took them a month to fill the hole. They didn't get paid until they came and filled it. And it's a lot of money. I wouldn't have done it if I had to do it over again. But my mom is is quite safe with the tub. She likes the idea that she can close it up and use the nice hot water for a shower. She takes a shower first, sit there, and then get out and it drains fast.

Two people came to do the installation and they were good. But it took them two days to install it because one of them got sick. So, it was okay. The service is great. I had trouble with something on the back of the tub because it popped off and air came through, but they came right out and fixed it as soon as possible. The tub fill-up is good. But the drain time could be better. The tub does everything that's on TV. It's making me feel a lot better.

The Safe Step rep explained everything. We sat at the table for about an hour. I don't like how small the tub is where you can hardly move your arms around, but he did explain that it was the only one that would fit inside my doorway without tearing my doorway apart, which made sense so I'm compromising and getting used to it. The installation was great. They were right on time. The three installers worked together. They were very polite. They never took a break. One was doing the electrical and the other was doing the installing and cutting. They were here until three o'clock, and they worked straight through to get the job done. When I looked in there, I've got a nice tub. I got a nice payment, but it's gonna be worth it for me.

The tub helps me so I'm not so tensed up. I don't wanna go back to physical therapy in that water because I can get the same relief right here in my own home now. I had to buy a new hot water tank that is 50 gallons, and I still ran out of hot water. So I have to shower fast if I still wanna use the tub, too. The water goes down pretty fast when you drain it. You can sit there and it'll get down fast enough before you're cold.

But overall, I'm happy with Safe Step so far. I like the jets. I like that the tub drains quickly. It seems to drain faster than it fills up. But the filling up time is not really that bad either.

I've noticed a difference in my skin from the first time I used the micro soothe feature. It's one of the jets that creates the 10 micron diameter bubbles. When my husband had a cold and his ribs were hurting him, he got into the tub and it helped him immensely.

The sales rep was a very good sales person but what he said and what happened are two different things. He said that they will take our toilet out so they can get more access to room, which they did not do, and when they installed it, they broke the mounts to the toilet. I called them up and I told them and sent them the pictures I took. The person up there said that they would have to talk to somebody.

On the preparation, the installer said that they was gonna remove all of the sheetrock and replace it with blueboard, more waterproof. They did not do that until we started screaming at them. They took the rest of the sheetrock out and the installer had to go buy blueboard and put it up. Also, I asked the representative and he said they were gonna have to remove the door, which they did. I asked if they could put up a brand-new door and they said, whatever they removed, they have to reinstall. I told them to leave it alone. They could take the door out and I would fix it myself. Other than those, the tub itself is perfect.

This last time that the Safe Step rep came out, he didn't have to do any presentation because I previously owned a tub. With the first one I owned, it was a lengthy presentation. It didn't need to be as long as it did. But this last one, as soon as he walked in the door, I told him we didn't need to go through the spiel. I already know their tub. So I told him to go in, look and tell me whether they could put this fit. He said, "Okay. Sounds good to me." I got the walk-in tub and their subcontractor was absolutely wonderful. He did an outstanding job. When I had a small problem with my previous tub, all I did was call them and then they sent somebody out. He fixed it and it was all taken care of. Their service was great.

My experience with Safe Step started out really good. We had Jason come to the house and he was wonderful. He sold us the tub. But we had said early on that we were concerned about the fact that our fixtures coming in from the wall were on the right side, but Safe Step's fixtures are on the left side. He said that it's normal for that type of set-up and not to worry about it so we didn't. We couldn't afford the extra 9,000 to have it installed, so we decided we would install it ourselves. He said that everything that we needed to install would come with the kit. Plus, we would have a step-by-step instruction booklet.

Jason was great but he lied to us. Everything that we were told didn't pan out. We had the tub dropped on November and nothing that we needed to install came with it -- no PVC, connectors, tacks, and elbows. We spent thousands of dollars on parts to hook it up and have it done the way that we were told it would come. Also, the instructions did not come with it so we called the local office and asked the rep to send the email again and she did. But they weren't the step-by-step instructions. The only one that had any instructions had to do with the fixtures that are on the tub, which already came assembled. It was not helpful at all. When it comes to the construction of the tub, the way they have that drain, there is so much weight pulling on that drain. We ended up putting metal straps to hold it because that's gonna end up failing. There were a bunch of things that were just really weird with the tub.

We've had a horrible issue with people trying to call back. When the water level gets to the middle set of jets, the door starts leaking. If we hold it shut, which we shouldn't have to do, and it gets too full above the top jet, it gets enough pressure that it seals itself. We're assuming it's just an easy adjustment in the door handle so we tried to call to have somebody come out and adjust that and we got the runaround. They kept transferring me to the California office for some reason.

I finally got through to the Arizona people and the rep wanted to charge me $179 service fee. The tub has a lifetime guarantee on parts that came already assembled. They said that doesn't include the door. But we didn't put the door on, it already came like that. They said it was supposed to have been checked to make sure. It was and it's perfectly level. I had to be on hold to wait for the manager to get on the phone but she was super busy. They asked if they could call me back and I said okay and hung up. But nobody ever called me back. I waited a week before I called them back again and I got transferred to the California thing again. I went back to the Arizona one and same thing, I got on hold for a long time.

I finally talked to the manager and I got fed up with her. We've been lied to from the very beginning. The parts didn't come with it, the drain is on the wrong side, and we were told that we would get everything for this. We have spent not only a couple of thousand dollars on parts but also on plumbing because there was stuff that we couldn't do. They have hex hoses, which frequently fail, and it's behind the wall where you have no access to them. They have a little access panel, but that's not enough to get to the piping that you need to be able to get to if it's up against the wall, which it is. We've had to do so much stuff and I have had it. I said this was the last straw and that was when she finally caved and it's stupid that it took that. We have not been happy and we still haven't gotten anybody to come out for a service call.

The presentation from Safe Step was kinda mind-boggling but we got going on it. Then, we were talking about the cost of what we were getting and it gave me a little bit of shake. But then I was thinking about my knee and we just kept on going. The main thing is my hot water heater is nothing but a 40-gallon, which isn't enough to fill the tub up where you can run your jets. You can take a shower all right in it by standing there but to fill that tub up, a 40-gallon sure isn’t gonna get it. So all I’ve taken so far are showers. I have to get another tank.

Also, the kind of deal that we came up with is I paid him so much down and then he rocked them along when they pulled up. They walked out and wanted me to sign something, which he said was for the remainder. I got the rep on the phone and he asked if I could pay six more thousand. It all was $1,600 and something. That would drop it down to 10,000 left. What he did, which I didn't know he was gonna do, was they got a place to finance. I didn’t know it until I got a mail from the financer with my name on it and then it hit me for $57 and some odd cents worth of interest. I called the rep again and told him I was not paying any interest. He said that if I didn't, he would, which sounded good to me. I called the place and gave them the name of the guy. They knew the guy and he didn't want to set it up. So I said I would get my own loan and if they knock off that $57 and some odd cents, I'd pay the thing off.

When we were signing, there was a lot of fine print there. The rep was throwing papers and I didn't have a magnifying glass. When we came up with the little things, he kind of kept telling me that it was what I got because I signed it. I might have signed it, but that wasn't what we talked about. He didn't want to admit any kind of part on that. Also, I’ve had the tub now ever since they put it in, but I haven't heard a word from anybody about how I like it or do I like it. He said I would hear something by the end of the month but I still haven’t heard anything from anybody. They went and got their bread and they were gone.

I would recommend Safe Step to any old person, whether they've had a stroke or were they’re just old and can't get in and out of a tub, and they're tired of trying to stand up to take a shower.

The installers did a super job of putting the tub in and it looks nice. The installation went well. It took several days to dry and it was probably about two or three days before I used it. The caulk is okay but after a year, I may have to recaulk. The features of the tub work well and the only problem I've had a couple of times is the circuit breakers popped and I've had to go out in the garage and reset it. It takes about 12 minutes to fill the tub and you gotta turn on the heated seating about 15 minutes before you sit down so it stays warm. I've got leg and back problems, and the tub helps a lot when I sit there. It's a lot of money but it's worth it.

I told the salesman the price was too high and he talked to his boss. They dropped the price since I was just getting the soaker tub. But when they got here, it had the jets. They said it was their mistake and I didn’t have to worry about it. If I wanted it, I could have it and if I didn’t, they would take it back. The tub was here about the same time they told me originally it'd be here. So, I took it.

I enjoyed the walk-in tub a lot. I still kinda wished I would have just gotten the soaker tub because there's a little bit of maintenance that goes with it. But it's not a big deal. You pour vinegar in it once a month. Also, you have to have the water an inch above the jets, which was a little bit of information I didn't understand at the time when I got it. I'll probably call Safe Step. There's a one little bitty silver knob that's on the left side, right close to the door and I don't know what that's for. But it doesn't seem to affect the jets. The company treated me very nicely and Mike went out on a limb for me to have it and that was nice. I've never had a salesman try to help me get what I've been wanting for years. So, it was all a great experience and the company did well. So, I tell all my relatives. They know it's a Safe Step.

Their rep made the sales visit enjoyable where I could understand anything that I needed to know about the tub. He measured, told me what they were gonna do, took pictures, and he was right on his stuff. Then, the installers came and explained to me what they were gonna do and how they were gonna do it before they did it. I have never seen anybody that could put a tub in that fast and the quality of work was excellent. The tub has everything that they make, like the micro bubbles, and once you get the seat heated up, it's the best thing. The only thing is my wife says it takes a lot of water. You can slide down in the hole.

The representative for the sales visit was good. He came in and told us about all the benefits and features. We don't make decisions about those kinds of dollar values on the spot and if I had known that was the way the sale was set up, I would have waited before we had the representative come. He said the discounts are only available for now and all this other stuff. Also, we had done a little bit of research, but I hadn't done the kind of research that I would have immediately felt comfortable making that deal. But we talked through it and decided to go ahead and make the purchase that evening.

On installation day, we had hiccups about some of the promises that the sales rep made initially that they later walked back. One of the things we talked about with the sales rep was converting what was then our laundry room and having the unit put in our laundry room. Our laundry room is off of one of our first-floor bathrooms. We took what would've been a half-bath and we were gonna use Safe Step to make it into a full bath. The sales rep said he has a contractor who's been doing this and he'd have him come out. We were promised a contractor who was gonna talk with us about the installation and go over that with us. That was not what happened. It was a separate business.

They were concerned about if it would fit. I said it was not about whether it fit but we were talking about the aesthetics of it, what it’s gonna look like with a few tweaks on our part. I've done projects before where you can make it fit and the aesthetics of it don't look right. They said to not worry about it and that they were comfortable that without the contractor seeing it, he's gonna be able to make it work and I was gonna be satisfied. I was upset. They walked back on an additional visit that they promised. But it eventually turned out as well as we could expect. Everything worked out okay.

My experience was smooth and easygoing, and the guy that came out explained everything really well. What was nice, though, was that my son was here with me. My son is in construction, and when the guy was explaining how things work, my son knew exactly what he was talking about since my son is in construction. I was very pleased with everything that the guy did.

My son and I took out the Jacuzzi whirlpool that I had in. We had everything ready for the Safe Step installers, so when they came in, they just had to bring the walk-in tub in, set it there and hook it up. It was done within hours, and it was nice. One thing I liked was the first guy that came in told me, “Make sure when you get in there, you put the handle all the way down to shut the door, ‘cause there was one lady who didn't shut it all the way and the water kept leaking all over her floor. So, I just gave you some precautions. So, be careful.” The installers explained everything to me, and I was like, “Okay. All right. I see you push that button there. This does that.” However, once they walked away and I got into the tub four days later, I thought, “What did they say?” Still, the installers did everything they should’ve done and I had no complaints about how everything was handled. It went very well.

When I looked at other tub brands, they're a lot cheaper than what Safe Step offers, but I was told that customers don't get all the extra features. I've got arthritic knees, and I got the shower. With the hand shower one, because I have arthritis in my hands too, I like it where I can slide it with that strap there. It makes it so much easier. I used that to wash my hair when I went in.

I've only been in the walk-in tub once. When I was in it, I hit a button because I wanted to see about the lights and there was this noise that came on. I don't know what it was, but I hit the light button to turn it off, and I thought, “Oh my God. That's it. I'm draining this thing. I'm getting out. I'm gonna read the directions again to make sure I know exactly what I'm doing here.” I also thought, "If this thing malfunctions, how in the world am I gonna get out of it?” I can't just open the door, but I could hit the drain thing and drain it. It drains quick. All in all, the walk-in tub is very well made, and I like it a lot.

The rep is paid by commission so he was making sure that the sale was padded. The product was a little more expensive than it should have been. Other than that, he gave a good presentation and he was knowledgeable. I set up a date and that was the day the techs installed the safe step. Watch the budgeting on your Safe Step. Also, I found out after the fact that the installers were just contractors. The installer that did the woodwork was excellent. But I was not pleased with the plumber. The guy who did the woodwork offset the other guy's attitude. He said, "It's all cleaned up and everything.” When I went underneath the house to look and stuff, he left my lights on and he left trash. All my plumbing work was highly insulated underneath the house ‘cause it's in West Virginia and he left it all exposed. I’m back in Nevada so when I fly out in 10 days, I'll be going underneath the house to insulate all that that he didn't do because I didn't have time to do it before I left town.

Safe Step does really high-quality work for most parts of the product and the tub itself is excellent. But it all depends on the team that installs it. They were supposed to be certified installers of Safe Step but they were actually subcontracted. I could have done it myself and saved myself $6,000 easily. That ticked me off. One thing my wife doesn't like about the tub is that it takes a lot of water to fill it up. You get cold waiting for the tub to get full. They could have had a bedsheet for smaller people so that you could add that into the tub to not use all that water. You’re using 80 gallons of water every time you do it. That's a lot of water.

They put it back but it just seemed counterproductive. The Safe Step walk-in tub is fine for someone else but it didn't work out for me. It is a waste of money because it doesn't help my knees. It doesn't have jets at that level.

The sales rep was real professional. But he said that there was a heater in the tub that would keep the water warm for two hours and there's not. The crew went through the installation real fast. My dad said they were about to leave but he said, "No, no, you can't do that. There's still more caulking to do." So, they were going to leave it unfinished. The caulking job is so sloppy. It looks awful. Also, the shelf was put in too low, so all of the water pools there. We're not all that happy. It's very disappointing. But the tub works fine. I like it.

The rep was informative and explained Safe Step very well. I'm still trying to figure out how the installers got all that the trash out of the house. But it went very well. It was a very clean job. Every time I looked as they were proceeding, I still didn't see any trash. I love my new tub. I'm still getting used to it. So, I got to the point where I figured out how I could take a shower instead of sitting there waiting on the water to fill up. I thought that was a lot of water. It would make my water bill go up because they like to charge people on the water bill here. But it doesn't use more water than a regular bathtub or a shower. Also, I like it being heated. I haven't figured out how to let the top showerhead down, but I use the handheld thing. But it's better. I take 30 minutes in the shower.

Safe Step made it look so grand on TV. We wanted that because we had a spa. The husband had strokes, and he couldn't get in our hot tub. So, we decided that a walk-in tub would be the next best thing. Safe Step made it look so grand on TV. However, it's not for disabled people. It's very difficult to get into it. There's not enough room to close the door. We didn't have a chance to try it out before buying it. The husband is disabled. And it's difficult with his long legs to get in it and to close. And we didn't know that it was that small on the inside. So, we just take a shower in the other bathroom.

Nobody told us about a big one until after we kicked out $21,000 on the tub. We found out later that they had wider ones. The rep didn't mention that when he came here for the consultation. I told Safe Step that the guy didn't let us know about the different sizes but they didn't offer anything. But it's all right for regular folks. The wife loves it. It just takes much water. So, most of the time, she takes a shower in there.

The Safe Step salesman who came over went through the whole process, explained everything, and showed everything about the walk-in tub. It was a little pricey, but we thought it was the thing that we should get. When the installers came in the house, they were very neat and professional. They removed the old stuff and upgraded our electrical. They installed the tub a lot quicker than I thought they would. They went through the whole thing and cleaned everything up. In fact, I called the company of the guy who did the electrical upgrade to tell them what a great guy he was. So far, the tub is great and different. When you're used to a full-size tub, when you get one of these walk-ins, it's a little small, but it's very easy to get used to it. Our walk-in has the wand which is where you don't have to stand under a shower head, you can just wand wherever you wanted the water to go, and that works out well.

An electrician came out too and had to run a wire from where the tub was back to my panel box. We purchased the Deluxe tub. It's got grab bars in it. The tub's really good. It fills fast, drains fast, and it has air jets in it. It has lights in it and it plays music. The air jets work well on your back and your legs and the back of your legs. The rep was supposed to have a helper but the helper didn't show up so he was here by himself. It took about eight hours to haul everything in and out by himself. The renovation took about eight hours. We already had a tub shaped like this in there, so all he had to do was take that one out, put this one in and hook up all the water and the drains. He did the caulking but we didn't like the way it was done. So Safe Step sent somebody else out to refinish it.

I've only been in the walk-in tub a couple of times and I kinda like it a lot because it's one of those things where someone will come in and ask if you are ever getting out of there. When I was playing football, they stuck you in one of those old Whirlpools and this is kind of like that. The walk-in tub is very nice. It's got different lights and music and it talks to me and welcomes me into the tub. We have a tub in the house and my wife uses that. But she says it's harder and harder to get out of, so this made sense. I have a walk-in shower but I don't have enough grab bars. I started to lose my balance so I put in a couple of grab bars so I don't have any place to fall. The tub takes care of all of that because you're sitting.

There were nicer styles with some of the other companies but Safe Step Walk-in Tubs install it. They give a lifetime warranty. They would move it to another place if you move. Anything goes wrong with it and they fix it. I couldn't complain with the type of warranty it had, the fact that they installed it. And if I had any problems, I just have to call them and they come out and fix it.

I called Safe Step. They came out and did a presentation in my home. They said, "You realize this is a ballpark figure." They gave me a rough ballpark figure of the least to the most amount. It depended on the type of style you got, kind of work you had, the kind of house you had designed. All of it played a toll. They kept pulling up discounts as far as they could go. So, they brought it down as low as they possibly could.

I put a deposit down that same day. Because I called other companies, I was not getting any of them to give me an estimate. And if they were, "Go to our website." "Okay, your tubs are 10,000, 15,000. But you have to pay for the installer." So, we would have to pay for the installer and wiring. I didn't want that. Safe Step did it all. They did the wiring. They had a certified electrician doing the wiring. They had certified plumbers doing the plumbing. They had the installer.

And there was a head of the group which was the main person. And all the branch people were subbed off of that. One was an electrician, one was a plumber, one was a contractor. All of the experience was there in a four-man team. Everything that they would need, all of the supplies and personnel. It was a team of people that specialized in putting those in. They did all the wiring. They matched the bathroom up perfect with what the Safe Step tub was. There were no gaps. It's nice.

I use the micro stuff to help soften the skin. I use the water jets. I don't use the air jets as much because the bubbles blow bigger. So, if I fill up the tub more, the bubble jets splashed outside the tub, the air jets do, depending on how full I fill the tub. But I put it through all of the cycles. I use all of them, and stay in there because I like to relax.

Safe Step Walk-in Tubs showed me a lot of pictures and told me about it. They went upstairs and saw my tub. They told me that because of my bay window, they would have to build the tub up on both ends and my space where I put stuff would be a little lower, but I'd be able to reach it on the tub and still have the whole view. That was important to me. The installation took all day long, which is what they said it would be. They said, “We'll be there at 8:00. And we'll probably be done sometime around 6:00 or 7:00.”

I had a couple of little glitches, but they were all fixed quickly. I thought I was gonna have trouble staying there until the water got up to my knees, but it's not that slow. I just put a towel around my shoulders until the water gets to my knees. Then I don't need it anymore. It gets hot enough for me. And it's really nice, really relaxing. I'm 76 years old, and I had a hard time closing the tub. But Safe Step came out, looked at it and fixed it. I can now get in and out whenever I want. Also, I like the air and the water circulation. The telephone conversations when I had a question, they made sure that they answered it right away. And if the person that I talked to couldn't, they sent me to that person.

It was really expensive. Because I am old and my skin gets dry, I got the best of the best because I got the stuff where they can get the dead skin out. Then I put lotion on, and my skin is nice and soft. I got a discount because I paid in cash. I paid something from the beginning and the rest once it was installed. I would recommend others to Safe Step. I like mine.

My experience with Safe Step is complicated. When the installers put the tub in, they had to remove the commode next to it. But when they put that back in, they didn't do it correctly. They didn't put the seal that goes around the bottom of the commode so I had water in the basement and in the bathroom. We determined that water was not coming from the tub but we didn't know why it was coming from the commode until I had to get a plumber and he came and told us that it didn't have a seal around the bottom. When I initially called the lady at Safe Step and told her the problem, I said I could not prove why I got the problem since it was not the tub. When the plumber came and saw the bathtub, he said, “It looks like they would have had to take this commode out to get that in. That's when this happened.”

Safe Step might want to tell future installers to be careful about that because there were three men here installing this and they all seemed to know what they were doing. Also, the tub itself is a problem for me. I only weigh 102 pounds. When I put water in the tub, I float. I can't just sit there. I had one of those tubs before in another house that I lived in and the inside was a little smaller. There was not as much volume of water. it's not the Safe Step tub's fault that I don't weigh very much. But I might look for a smaller one next if I were doing it again.

I'm not really happy about that cost part either because I have since seen an advertisement—you get $1,600 off the sale. Nobody mentioned that to me. I'm 90 years old and I hadn’t even thought of that at the time. I didn't bother calling Safe Step later because it probably wouldn't do any good. But considering what I've seen since for tubs, it seems like it was a lot of money. It was about $22,000. I paid more for it than I probably should have or could have.

That aside, I'm very pleasantly happy with the company. The salesperson was wonderful and he checked everything in the house before he sold the tub to me. I liked that very much. I’ve had the tub for several weeks and I've used it three times. Other than the floating part, the tub is nice and I like it. I would recommend Safe Step, especially to bigger people.

Safe Step had to work hard for us because we're very high up in the mountains and the getting lost factor is high here. But they found it, did a beautiful job and left the work site immaculate. They even put in some molding that I bought to finish off the room there and they did a beautiful job. They made the tub to fit our area instead of trying to make the area fit our tub.

There were three that put the tub and all these beauty walls and the tiling up. And there was another team of electricians who did the electricity work underneath the house. They were constantly in communication and checked on each other. They all got together, did what they had to do, and sometimes helped each other lift and do what they had to do. They told me, "Okay, we'll be done today." I didn't believe them. But they did it. They had this whole thing done, including the electricity, in nine hours they were here. They were sweating when they were done. They didn't play around and have lunch and smoke cigarettes. They worked hard. So, I appreciated that.

They were nice boys. They were sharp. They knew what they were doing. And I could tell that one of them was more specialized in the tub itself because he lead the others, "Make sure you do this. Did you do that? Did you check this?" It was a great experience. I was very impressed with them. They went over the tub with me and showed me where the electricity was outside and how it was connected so that I know. It blew me away. The inside of the tub has this anti-microbial feature, and the hydro bubbles are an incredible feature.

We've had good and bad experiences with Safe Step, but we're on the road to good now. Their sales rep was fine but his presentation was rather long and we've not heard from him since he took the check and left. Then, they sent a crew here for the installation that came quite late. It was noon before they got here and they were supposed to be here by about 10:00. Also, the first crew did not do well at all and they didn't seem to get much done. What they did do was sloppy and not anything I wanted in my home. They were here two days and didn't even get close to finishing it. But we didn't want to finish that way anyway.

We conversed back and forth with the project manager and they took care of things. They sent another crew and they got it done. They took out everything the first team did and started over. It was a bad thing for the fellow because our home has a metal roof and metal siding. And apparently, he was the boss of numerous crews and he kept getting calls on his cellphone that he had to go outside to talk to them. So, the installation took a little longer than it should have and altogether, the time it took about a day and a half for the installation to be finished. The walk-in tub looks great now and my husband likes the microbubbles. He also likes the ease of getting in and out. He's not very mobile and it's great for him to have the tub and the heated seat in there. To me, the features are all pleasant.

Other than that, at first the drain didn't want to go down and needed to be adjusted. We called them and they said someone would contact us. But nobody did and this went on for two weeks. Then yesterday, a man came, adjusted it, and got it working properly. Aside from that, the price of the walk-in tub was high and I was shocked when they told us what the price was. But for what we got, it was worth it.

Installation seemed to go fine, but after we started using the walk-in tub, we found some issues. It's supposed to have a heated seat, but that did not work. Safe Step also told us our water heater was big enough, but I cannot fill the tub all the way without it running out of hot water. Plus, the ledges around the tub, they should drain back into the tub when water gets on them, but they don't. Water stands on them without draining away, and there is a pipe that runs up to the shower head that drips down at the bottom of the pipe.

I've talked to Safe Step on the phone, and they said they would have the installer call us. It's been a week and a half, and we haven't heard from him. I scheduled home visits with Safe Step and another company. They came the same day. One was a little early and one was a little late. Safe Step was here second. The salesman politely waited out in his car until the other one left. Safe Step in the long run would be a little less expensive. My husband's a veteran and they gave us a veteran's, discount which kicked the price of it down. Their warranty is a lot better. It's as long as we're alive with it. Another selling point for me was the salesman gave me more user-friendly information about the tub than what the other one did.

The salesman had told us that a team of four people would be here to do the install. A couple came in, introduced themselves, and went about doing their work. It took them longer than they thought it would but they got the install done. But they did not finish to my expectation. They were supposed to clean the tub up and have it ready for use when they left. They did not do that. I had to do my own cleaning to use the tub. I'm handicapped and it's difficult for me to do things like that. There was also some of the caulking that they did not do around the top to keep water from splashing over behind the backing on the tub. I wasn't too happy with that. My husband had to go buy some caulking and get it fixed. I was aggravated about that.

The door that they brought out to replace the one that we had in our bathroom wasn't wide enough to get the tub in and for a wheelchair if and when needed so they didn't install it. My husband bought a door and installed it. When I went to use it, the drain would not work with the remote. I called Safe Step directly and the lady was very apologetic. I got a tech out here and he seemed very knowledgeable. He cleaned that tub up for me so I wouldn't have to do it. But come find out, there is a motor that's missing in the tub. He had to order one and he's supposed to be back out when it comes in to replace it. Two months down the road, the tub is still not working right. The salesman responded the first time but I'm still waiting to hear from him the last time I asked him for some information.

On September 26th, they came out to install the tub, which was about a month after I signed a contract to agree to pay for the tub once it was installed. They got in here about 8:00 in the morning, which is about the time they were supposed to arrive. I told them I had a doctor's appointment that I had to go to. I left and told them my sister would be there to sign off on anything they needed signed off on. They said they would go through the tub system and show her how it works and she could show me when I got back.

I got back from the doctor and my sister told me that the tub does not work yet, that there was a problem with it, and somebody was supposed to be coming out the following Wednesday to fix it. I waited another week. A guy came out and replaced the control panel but it still didn't work. He said, "I don't have the right parts. I'm gonna have to call my shop and they're gonna have to order the parts because the shop doesn't have them either." He came in the following week on a Saturday and said that he was gonna replace the circuit board and he got a new control panel to go with it as well.

He put those and a new motor in, but the motor didn't work. He was thinking that the control board and the circuit board were both okay and that it was the motor that was seized up. He had to go back again. We were working on three weeks after the installation. He came back out again with a new motor. This motor is not seized up. He proved it to me by plugging it into the wall before it went into the bathroom to fix the bathroom tub. He installed the new motor but I still don't have a tub that runs properly. I can fill it up with water, I can turn on air jets, but there are no water jets. There are no micros. The micros were supposed to help with my skin condition and that's three-fourths of the selling feature that got me to buy that tub.

I got the shower install package with it but I'm highly disappointed in the shower because there's no adjustment for the strength of the shower. I have a showerhead that has seven different settings on it so that I can get a massage out of my showerhead or I could just have it like a rainfall shower. The rainfall shower does not get through your hair if you've got hair spray in your hair. It just puts a layer of wetness outside your hair. It's hard to get your hair clean using the shower. They have a handheld showerhead that goes along with the rainfall shower up there. It doesn't have any adjustments on it either. Also, this thing is so tiny. I wear a size nine and it's hard to turn around in the shower. There's no room on the floor for you to stand up and move around on the floor of the tub. It's made for sitting, that's for sure.

There are a bunch of features about the tub that I don't like that they didn't even consider telling me about. It takes an awful lot of water to fill that tub up, 40 gallons. If you don't have a 50-gallon or an insta-hot on your water coming in, you run out of water way before that tub's ever full. You can't get out of the tub because the door is latched shut. If you try and open the door, you're gonna get water everywhere. You can't get out of the tub and go boil some hot water, put it in there with the water then get back in the tub because you have to crawl over the doors which are four feet high.

They don't tell you about the problem with the hot water. Before you can relax and enjoy the tub, you'd be in there for a good hour and a half. I have a 40-gallon water heater, but I have to wait three times for it to get the water to get hot again and my sister brought me six pots of boiling water to add to my hot water so that I could have a hot bath. That's crazy. I was disappointed with that feature. I plan on having an insta-hot put back in my bathroom so that I won't have that problem because that will give me unlimited hot water. But I'm so frustrated with them right now because I still don't have a tub that works.

I'm not happy about the tub at all. The materials it's made out of are a little flimsy. They have these magnets that hold the covers on the places that the repair guy gets in and out of to try and replace stuff and work on the thing. They have magnets to hold that piece of fiberglass onto the tub itself so that it doesn't just fall out. You can see the light right through them. They don't fit very well even with the magnets.

I had their financing company call me because I had it financed and they want payment. I said, "I'm not making a payment until this thing works." I'm ready to call Safe Step and tell them come get their tub because it hasn't worked since they put it in. But it's gonna cost me to have them come and get it. If they can't fix it, they should tell me, come get the thing and pay for me to be able to put my shower back in.

I've been calling Safe Step for at least two weeks now but they have not returned my calls. The subcontractors at least are good about calling me back, telling me what was going on, and keeping me up to date. But as for Safe Step, all they care about is getting a sale. I also had told them I wanted to save my shower doors. They said okay but I can't find the shower doors anywhere. I don't believe they left them here. I told Safe Step I was gonna call the ConsumerAffairs Bureau and report them for their lack of communication as far as trying to take care of a customer after the fact but that didn't get them to respond to me.

My experience with Safe Step has been terrible and I would not recommend them. They sent a contractor that I looked up on the State Contractors Board and they had 1s. It's Burrows Construction company in Henderson and I sent them a bad review. When the installer came here, he even told my husband, "Don't come in here. This is a construction site." I'm an OSHA supervisor. It was not a construction site. There are no hard hats. It's a bathtub. My husband needed to go through the bathroom to get to his meds and the installer had no business stating that to him.

Safe Step was perfect 16 years ago. But now, I'm still waiting. This has been going on since August. They did not complete the installation. They still haven't replaced it or fixed it. When I called them, I told them I wanted this tub out and the proper one put in. I called the salesman because Colleen said, "I don't know what they're gonna do. You're just stuck with it." No, I am not stuck with a tiny tub that I can't fit in. I'm 5'4" and 180 pounds. It ain't fitting that little thing. Colleen was supposed to call me this weekend because it's supposed to be in next week.

Safe Step wanted to do a final inspection. I said, "You are not sending the Clark County out here to do a final inspection because it's not done." They said, "We made it the same one as you had before." No, they didn't. They didn't have records that went back that far, in my opinion. This is a 52-inch tub, but I couldn't even sit in it to take a bath. It is only 23 inches wide inside. You can't fit your arms in there. The butt goes in there, but you have to stand up against the wall and sit on the tub to get the door to close. I have a replaced shoulder. I can't do that.

The salesman came back out here, and said, "I can't believe this. We've never had problems with these people. This is why it's not draining. This is why it's not filling." He also said, "It's gonna cost $6,500 to fix this." I said, "Why do we have to pay for the reinstall? That's not appropriate." I told them supposedly, they have used this company before. But whatever they did, they didn't do it right. A friend of mine is a construction guy. He came over and found 10 things that were wrong.

Everything was very good with the reps at Safe Step. They showed they had experience. One of them had the tub in their home. They showed us pictures and offered us different materials and surroundings on the walls. But there was one thing that my wife was disappointed with. The installation team didn't check everything thoroughly before they started installing. There were two issues. The electric drain didn't work so it was missing some parts there. There was also a broken spring part which they didn't have. They had to end up ordering a special part for it.

After they wired the tub, all of a sudden, there was an electric outage in our living room. The outlets and the light fixture on the ceiling weren't working. We let them know, and they had to come back but they said it wasn't the tub. We would have to get in touch with another electrical company. Fortunately, there are many. Unfortunately, there were a lot who didn't call me back. I would call a bunch of places and leave messages but we were still in an outage.

I was suspecting that the electrical outage was caused by the installation team. They did something, but they kept saying they didn't. It was too much of a coincidence for it to happen at the same time. I've been living here since May 2011 and we've never had an outage in the living room specifically until that day when they were here installing the tub. It finally worked after they came back again to fix it and ordered the parts to install. That aside, the experience is good. It's a nice tub. It's cool that it fills up with the water. It's got the water jets. My wife uses the handheld the handheld showerhead. She's able to move that around.

The installation team was good but they left a mess downstairs where they had to drill through the floor to a pipe. The tub is a little small for me because I'm a big fellow. Most of the time, I use the shower. But if it was a little bit bigger where you stand to take a shower, it would be a whole lot better. Other than that, it's a nice tub. When we had to call a repairman out for a leak, he came right out, was courteous and did his job well. I would recommend the Safe Step tub to anybody if they were interested.

The Safe Step sales rep told us a bunch of stuff that wasn't true about the tub. He made it sound like there wasn't any way that I could possibly be dissatisfied with it. He told us that the lights would be a strobe light and the music would be so great, that it would sync up with our phone and pulsate through our bodies while we were taking a bath. Neither one of those were true.

The installation team was terrible. I was in there watching them install it and the guy said to me, "I'm not used to having an audience." He was telling me some things and I was asking some questions. He said, "One woman didn't listen and she ended up flooding her whole bathroom." He was implying not to be like that woman that didn't listen. He was very rude. I called Safe Step and complained about it. He called me back and apologized.

The construction of the tub is way bad. It's too small. You have to stand up to wash your private parts because you can't spread your legs. You can't get in and out of it because the door won't shut. If you get in, you have to get up on your feet and step on the seat so that you can close the door. For an old woman like me, that's dangerous. When you turn the jets on, they shoot out and hit you on the back. It sprays water all over your wall and all over the floor. It gets water on my medications that sit over there next to the wall and that ruins my medicine. I'm stuck now trying to find a place to put my and my husband's medicine. The drain does not work properly. You have to empty it out by hand, get in and out of it and take the drain cap off.

The woman was trying to help me but it was obvious that they didn't know what they were doing because the guy that she sent out here told me something completely different about how to fix the problem and it wasn't what customer service from Safe Step told me at all. They sent a different guy, and he was a very nice guy. He told me something completely different from what they told me on the drain issue. He took the drain out and put some Quick Tight. It sealed the screw that kept on coming out.

We dipped into our 401(k) to buy that tub. We paid $20,000. My husband's got Parkinson's disease and we could have used that money for a caretaker. Now, we're stuck with a tub that we can't use. If I could get my money back, I would jump on it in a heartbeat. I wouldn't recommend anybody to buy one. I'm 68 years old and my husband's 69. We thought that it was gonna help us because of our arthritis. But everything on it is so hard to work and it's very upsetting to me.

The installation went well, but the installers tried to finish in a day, so they were a little rushed. They had a bit of problem in some of the touch-up work that I had to do on my own. Besides that, I've had the walk-in tub about a month now, and I use the shower every night. I've used also the tub five times so far, and one of the things that I found that is a downside is the amount of water that it uses. In Vegas, water is a problem, and the walk-in tub uses a lot. In a normal tub, I don't think people use as much water. It takes a long time to fill the Safe Step walk-in tub because of that too. It's really deep where I sit and unlike a normal tub, I lean back.

The door of the walk-in tub opens inward, and I'm not a very large person, but I still have to really squeeze myself. Plus, there's a drain that's right close by that I'm trying not to step on. To have the door open without hitting me or without me stepping on the drain would be an improvement for the tub. Also, I called Safe Step about the locking mechanism. I'm a military retiree and when I read their ads through my military magazines, they talk about no energy and lock-free. Despite that, it takes a bit of effort to lock it, pushing the door while I'm handling the mechanism. The walk-in tub has to have a tight seal, otherwise the water will leak.

Their rep was very knowledgeable, good to work with, and it was a good experience. We had looked for them first thing in the morning and noon before they got here. So, that threw them into working also the next day. But that was the only drawback we had with them. They finished 5:00 that first day. They came back the next day 11:00 and finished 6:00. I set up an appointment with the salesperson and they measured things. They looked at my hot water heater and said everything looks good. They promised the Safe Step tub in six weeks and a one-day installation. But the installation took three days instead of one. The installer was a gentleman and his daughter. They caused a lot of damage to my home. When they were going in and out of my front door, the tech pulled my door handle off. He said he'd fix it but he didn't. It keeps coming off. I have ordered a new one which I have yet to try to install. Also, he put his foot through the attic into the ceiling of my front area when you come in through the door. He fixed that but it's totally unacceptable.

My mother is handicapped and I already had grab bars in the bathroom. They had to take those off so they could get the Safe Step in. When they replaced the grab bars, they damaged my wall in several places. There are indentations on the wall. He installed an additional grab bar that is not secure. It wiggles back and forth. I paid for additional grab bars and he placed one of them behind the door. So, when you open the door, it's behind it, so it's useless. My mom is a tiny person so when she tries to lift her arm up for the caregiver to wash underneath her armpit, she bangs her elbows into the sides of the tub. This is a horrible situation.

Also, they had to remove the toilet in order to get the tub in. They did it while we were eating dinner, so the place smelled. I didn't find out 'til later that the tech broke the toilet paper holder as well and didn't tell me about it. That's gonna have to be replaced. Additionally, my wood floor got scratched in two places and there's a dent that broke the wood in one place while they were carrying the tub.

The techs also did not put anything down on my floor to walk in and out through. I have area rugs in several parts of my house. Several times, they walked across the carpet with soot on the bottoms of their feet. Also, when the tech was sanding the ceiling to fix the hole that he put his foot through, he did not cover any of the furniture nor move any of the rugs. So, the sanding got all over everything.

Also, my handicapped mother hates the tub. It's harder for her to get into it than stepping over her tub shower. This tub cost us $21,000 and my mother dreads going in and out of it because the door is still narrow even though she's a tiny person. She also has problems turning and sitting in the seat. The seat and the back heat up but only to the point where it's not freezing when you sit down.

After she's seated, she has to move her legs all the way to the right in order for the door to close. Otherwise, it hits her legs. When I was in there, it was the same thing. I really have to move my legs out of the way. I'm taller than my mom so, when I sit in the tub, if I wanna clean underneath my arms, I could raise my arms and my elbow over the side of the tub so my arms don't have to bang into it. The tub is not safe for my mother at all and it's a real difficulty trying to bathe her. The only other shower in my house is a narrow stand-up one and it's too narrow for anyone to help her. Plus, the tub runs out of hot water. I was very upset about that because the rep looked at my hot water heater and said it was large enough. I do not plan on purchasing a larger hot water heater for this tub. So, that's a problem. The Bluetooth capability to play music works and that's okay. The jets and chromotherapy features are nice, but definitely not worth the money.

I called SafeStep to let them know of the damages and sent them pictures. I have spoken to the person at Safe Step in charge of the service department and she said I should get estimates. I'm in the process of getting estimates but she did not say that after I get them, they would pay for the repairs.

They've got a long way to go with the installation. I'm waiting on walls for the tub and it's been a month and a half. They kinda ripped everything apart and that left me with a mess. So I'm not very pleased with it at all. We had a magnet problem and they sent me a magnet for one of the panels. But I had to put that on. Some of their caulking is not very good. I'm gonna have to recaulk it. There are a lot of issues that I would not recommend Safe Step to anyone. When I call them, I don't hear from them, and then I call back. I called this morning and one of the gals said, "Well, this other gal is gonna call you." I'd probably won't hear until tomorrow or the next day unless I call back.

I called Safe Step and I liked what the gentleman had to say. He sounded extremely nice and polite. I invited him to come to the house and have a talk with us. When he showed up, I liked everything he said, and so did my daughter-in-law. I am 84 years old, and I have twin handicapped daughters, and we're all three in danger of falling. My daughter-in-law works, and my son lives here with us, too. It'd be nice for all of us to have something that we'd be safer in. So I wrote the check, and I put it in Wayne and Patty's name because they're a lot younger and they’re planning on taking care of Wayne's sisters when I'm gone.

The installers were extremely nice. They were very polite and they were clean. And any little mess they made, a few little things they had to do. they cleaned it up before they left. It was just unbelievably efficient and nice. I didn't believe they could get it all done in a day, but they sure did. The qualit of work was beautiful. I had other towels hanging in the bathroom, and they didn't even knock them down. They did very good. They got here by a week earlier than I originally said they could. But it wasn't a problem.

We all love the tub. But it can drain a little faster. It seems like it's a little slow sometimes. But cleaning it has been a dream. You can just wipe it off with some disinfecting wipes or rinse it off and then wipe it off. Then my daughter-in-law does the once-a-month cleaning thing. She did it after a couple of weeks because she said she wanted to see just exactly how difficult and how much of a problem it was doing it. She said it was great. She had no problems at all.

The only problem that we have had has been the cover that goes over the part of the hinges that attached to the tub where the hinge on the door. One of those little things popped off. I called Safe Step and told them about it, and they said they would get a serviceman out here. He came out and he was extremely polite. It didn't take him 10 minutes to get it back on there. He said those things come off all the time and that's been a problem with them. He told us that they've been trying to get Safe Step to change the adhesive glue that they attach them on there with but they can't get them to do it. He brought a new cover and put it in there, and then re-attached it with a different kind of contact glue. There was no charge. It was totally covered. He said it was a lifetime warranty.

The tub has made it easier for bathing in a way, but more difficult because I have a problem with my water heater. It's not big enough. I have to wait about an hour and a half to two hours in between for the water to reheat. The water is totally cold after I get a bath. The next person would have ice cold water if they didn't wait an hour and a half or two hours. So in between, we have other things to do. So I need to get a bigger water heater.

My two handicapped girls absolutely love it when we turn the bubbles on. The little teeny, tiny bubbles make the water look kind of milky looking. It makes it almost thick, but it softens your skin. It makes your skin feel better. The tub can also be paired with a YouTube or Pandora or some other music. The music and sound will come through the speakers on the tub, and one of my handicapped girls absolutely loves it. She is crazy about having the music come out of the tub while she's sitting there and having a bath. The tub also has a handheld shower. I can go ahead and wash her hair and rinse it with that handheld shower.

The installation guys did a great job. We had a tub and then a shower next to it and they took out everything. They put the tub in. They got it where we wanted it. They built a wall behind it because I wanted to build a closet for linens, sheets and towels where the shower was. The tub works great. The only problem I have is that we did not get the shower package. The pressure in the handheld shower wand is really weak. We have plenty of water pressure, but it's regulated by the valve that only allows it to come out so hard. Everything else works fine.

The first time I used the tub, I turned the water on but it didn't get hot. So I called the service department of Safe Step and they sent somebody out that same day. The lines were switched. The tech turned on the water to the cold side and it got hot. The other thing was that the skirting around on the tub was not fastened very well to the floor. It was loose. So they called and scheduled it, and the tech came out and fixed it. In 15 minutes, he was done. I've gotten in the tub several times and put the jets on, and my back feels a lot better once I get out.

My husband and I had both been speaking about getting a walk-in tub but for several years, we just forgot the idea. Recently, I had knee surgery. I'm 77 and my husband will soon be 81. We didn't need to be climbing over the tub in our ages and both of us are beginning to have some medical problems. It would be to our advantage to try a walk-in tub at this time.

A Safe Step Walk-in Tubs representative went through the brochure with us showing all the things that the tub could do and the advantages that each step would have as we age. He asked us how we heard about the tub, how our finances were, and how we would be paying for it if we decided to get the tub. On the installation day, things didn't go as smoothly as I had wanted. We had to have additional wiring done and that brought our bill up to about $4,000 in addition to what we were paying. That should be explained that you may have to get additional wiring or increase your wattage.

Our electrician clearly said to our representative, "I want to be there the day that the tub is installed so I can pull my electrical wiring in to fit the tub." That was understood. I told Safe Step that I wanted them to coordinate it. I didn't want one without the other. It was three days exactly before the tub was to be installed. A gentleman called and said he would be the installer. I asked him if he had coordinated the pull-through of the wiring with our electrician. He said, "No, I'll be doing the electrical wiring." I just said, "I'm sorry, you will not. I paid this gentleman...If he can't come, you can't come." The man said he understood.

I didn't hear from him the next day. I decided to contact my electrician and he said, "No, I haven't heard from anybody, but I'll be glad to reach out." He did and they coordinated the timing. The electrician came and the installers for the tub came. They did a good job as far as the installation and then they did a pretty good cleanup.

The product itself is fine. But it is not worth the money. I told my husband I would have preferred updating the shower downstairs. But I do like bubble baths and the step-in tub doesn't even recommend you using a bubble bath in it. That was a downfall. Another is where the drain is because as you're showering, there's no way I can miss continuously stepping on that little thing because I move about and it messes up. It's enclosed too much. The drain in the tub is in a very inconvenient place. Another thing about Safe Step that would be additional information for elderly people is when the representative comes and before you go and get all excited about these functions and the aid that they may have as far as your particular problems are concerned, they should also tell you that your water bill may increase.

That aside, I like the air bubbles and the little things that come out as a massage. We've connected it to our music and I love just sitting in there and listening to the music. It would be good for the mood change. You just want to really relax and get the lavender smell. I like the different colors that you can do according to your mood as well. I like the purple one because I'm a lavender person. There's a also little button called micro and it's supposed to get the little milky type bubbles that are supposed to help exfoliate your skin. But I haven't seen any difference in my skin in using it. All in all, the walk-in tub is safer for me and my husband. All of the other features are an added little bonus for people who are trying to pamper in their golden years.

Installation took two days, and the installers were very good. The first day, they needed some extra equipment and had to run extra lines, then the second day that they came back, it took the entire day. The walk-in tub has been great. My granddaughter and great, great daughter love it. I've taken three baths in the walk-in tub, and I like the bubble action of it. I have double knee troubles, and it makes my knees feel better for a while. I can't get in or out a regular tub anymore, so using the walk-in tub is a lot easier for me. I enjoy it too.

A crew came in with the Safe Step tub, took it out of the back of the trailer and set it on my driveway. They proceeded to take out the existing tub I had and were very considerate of not damaging it. There were some tilework and other things built around that tub but they were able to accomplish getting the tub out of the bathroom and into my garage. It took a bit of effort. There were three of them and they worked tirelessly. They proceeded to prepare the area where the old tub was for the Safe Step tub, and they brought the tub in and started the process of putting it in place. They asked us where we wanted it, if we wanted it close to the wall or away. They had to take the door frame off of one of our doors in order to get that tub in. And they put it back. We couldn't even tell it was off. They did a great job.

They got the tub all connected after we decided exactly where we wanted it. And they proceeded to build the platform that surrounded the tub and connected to the wall. After that, it was a two-day process, because it took them a bit of time to get the old tub out. The first crew that came in was three guys. And when the supervisor of the group came back the second day, which was on a Saturday, he brought his wife with him and said that she had helped him on numerous occasions to finish the job and that she was very good with the caulking and the final touches. And she was. They finished up the job and he cleaned up everything, took out any old materials or anything that he had, and took off.

I've used the tub five times since it has been installed. I use it at least once a week. Sometimes more. I would have paid twice as much for the tub. I thought it was expensive to begin with. It's much different from what we had. It's much simpler to get into and out of. And it has made physical issues a lot more tolerable. The functioning of the tub on our body is very relaxing. I've almost gone to sleep in the thing. I also like the lighting. I like the soothing feeling of the energy of the tub when the air and the water jets are all working. I have a skin issue so I especially like that micro feature of the tub. I'm happy that we chose the larger tub.

Safe Step had the shortest step that I could find. I had the tub installed and the crew was in and out in two days. On the installation date, they didn't get here until afternoon. Nobody called and told me that they were running late. I could have gone out and gotten some things done if I had known that they were coming later than they said, which was 8 o'clock. That was annoying. And because they were so late starting, they had to come back and work until 3 o'clock the next day. That was two days gone. That was the only real complaint I had. That aside, the crew did a good job.

I am now realizing I need tile around the top of the tub because it splashes a lot. The painted walls are not going to work. I have to get somebody in to do that. overall, the tub works great. It makes it easier to get my son in there and get his hair washed. That is the biggest thing. Also, I like that the tub is new. It makes the rest look old, so now I've got to get somebody in to do the rest of the bathroom. I also like the microbubbles on the feet the best. I feel good. The tub is slow getting filled up but I can take my whole shower and wash off before I get it full. I would suggest this tub to other people.

He was very beneficial in explaining how the walk-in tub works and what the benefits would be for my legs. I asked some questions as well, and he was able to answer. So, the interaction was good. I was at work and by the time I got home, the installers were finishing up and cleaning. My dad let them in and do what they do. But they also showed him how the tub worked before I got home. And then, they showed me. The highlight for me would be sitting down and being able to use the handheld shower because I'm not able to use anything else.

The installers cleaned up. But when I used the bathroom today, our toilet moved. It's not secured and caulked around the bottom the way it was before they took it up. So, the whole toilet turned sideways. My dad will probably have somebody come out here and fix it or caulk it and put it back in place. But other than that, the installers seemed to be okay. We got the top-of-the-line tub. There were three different ones and we got the most expensive. I'm not the one paying for it but it was pricey.

She came once and stayed a good while, but I had a lot of other estimates from different places too. I still hadn't made up my mind, but I called her back again. She came back from Corbin, Kentucky where she was giving an estimate to somebody there. She got her boss lady on the phone, and she talked to me for a bit. They're expensive, but we agreed upon the price, so we went ahead with it.

I had to wait about six weeks for Safe Step to put the tub in, and I'd rather not have to wait that long, but installation went smooth. They did it in a day's time and finished most of it. The guy came back the next morning and finished the clean-up and the caulking. They did a great job, and I haven't had any trouble since they installed it. I'm afraid of falling ‘cause I fell several times, and I like the tub for the safety of it. I also like the jets and the warm water of the tub. I take a bath and a shower more than I used to.

Installing the walk-in tub took a whole day. There were four installers from Safe Step, and they put down things on the floor so that they wouldn't be tracking in and out. They did a lot of stuff outside, getting the stuff ready, then brought it inside. I had one of these tubs that went all the way up to the dome in the ceiling, great big pieces, and they sawed that into a lot of different pieces so that they could get it out of there. They put something else in there so that they could bring in the walk-in tub. They did a good job and it's beautiful, but it's big in my little bathroom.

The tub is really nice, but I'm still getting used to it. If you have very little space when you step in, you might as well sit down. If you don't sit down, you're taking a shower in a very little space for your feet. Also, the spigot that turns on the water goes one way and it turns the water in the tub. If I push it too far the other way, I get all these shower things spraying down on me. It's just something people have to get used to.

I had a neighbor say, "Well, I wouldn't take a tub bath because it's like sitting in your own stew." I said, "No, you just have to have a plan and you have to know how to use it." I have a plan when I get in it, but I was always a tub-bath person. My mom taught me that you turn on the water, get in when it's just right, and leave it running in there. That's when you wash your face, wet your hair, get your hair washed and rinsed, then you sit in there and soak and clean the rest of your body.

I liked the lifetime warranty where everything should be taken care of, where Safe Step would come and take care of it if we had problems compared to some of the other brands. Also, the rep was very knowledgeable. And the installers knew what they were doing. They came in and got it done, cleaned up their mess, explained everything, showed us how everything worked. So, we were pleased with how they put up the wall that needed to be put up to run the plumbing up and the wiring.

We love the micro where we could tell that it does clean our pores out, make us feel cleaner and our skin softer. And being able to take a shower or sit and soak, because we've got the shower feature as well. And whenever it's time to release the water, it drains quick. And it looks like it would be easy to keep clean. The only thing that we regret is the in swing of the door, it wasn't explained that they could get the door to swing out to make it easier to get in and clean. Whenever we push the door in, it's hard to clean the walls behind it, unless we get in and close the door and clean the walls off, even though we can just spray it down and hose it off because it's the surface of the thing.

The panels where you can access the fittings, the little narrow panel, looks like that could be done a bit better. Because we could tell it doesn't fit good and tight if we rubbed up against it and hit that panel and release the magnet. The tub is a bit pricier for what we're getting, just being a tub. But we're pleased with it. If Jacuzzi and Kohler could do them for a quarter of the cost of these, Safe Step probably needs to look at what they could do to still provide a quality product like they are. But not the expense that they charge. We’ve been talking to some people. We almost wish we went with the Jacuzzi or Kohler brand and had somebody help me put it in myself and save $15,000, where if we had to replace it in 10 years, we could just replace it again ourselves. But we'll see as time goes on and it's used more, if it would hold up like they say they would.

I didn't think at first I would like the idea of sitting there while it's filling. But it fills up pretty fast, and the same thing with draining it. I got the overhead shower and the handheld shower with it. While it's draining, I rinse off with the shower. It drains quickly, so I'm not just sitting there waiting for it to drain. I have a very hard job and it really helps my body to relax after I get off work.

We had a tub put in by Jacuzzi, and it was horrible. We couldn't use it. We couldn't reach the controls, so then we went researching and found Safe Step in a few advertisements. Their rep was phenomenal. He understood why we were getting rid of the other tub and they're $25,000 a piece, so you don't get rid of them easily. It was only two weeks old. He went ahead and measured my arm's length. He looked in his specs and he knew that we'd be able to reach it. Then on top of that, before they installed it, he had them bring the tub here and had us physically sit on it and reach for the handles. Who brings a tub in and lets you sit in it and see if you can reach it before they install it? If we couldn't, they said they would just take it out and there would be no charge. The rep went above and beyond what anybody else was offering to do.

The team that did the installation was one in a million. With the previous company that came to install, my entire house had dust all over it. It was left filthy. They broke the molding and the wall. They fixed nothing and charged me the same amount. When these guys from Safe Step left, the house looked the same as before they came in the door. It was immaculate when they left. Time-wise, the installation took less than a day. As far as the tub, everything is reachable. It's amazing. You can play your music in the tub. It’s one in a million. It’s so much better than the other one. They really went above and beyond. Also, compared to the others, Safe Step is less expensive.

Also, the tub doesn't do what it was represented to me it would do. I made a $28,000 mistake. My hot water heater doesn't last long enough to fill it up. After it gets up a little above the seat, it starts getting cold. It is relaxing but the last time I used it, it leaked. I had water all over my bathroom floor.

It's just the price was a little steep for me. That aside, the installation didn't take long. The installers had to go through the wall but they completed that up really well, so I was really pleased with the way they did the work. They had everything in in one day. He didn't pressure us, which was something that I liked, and answered all our questions. During the installation, my mom said it was awesome how they got the tub in here and she was very pleased with the whole thing. But the walk-in tub is pricey and I don't like that I'm always stepping on the draining plug, and plugging it up. The seat is also quite deep.

I called Safe Step Walk-in Tubs and set an appointment, so the man came out and showed me the ropes. I liked it, so I said, “Let's go and get it.” It was nice when I got in there. But I didn't like the water all over the floor. I got a leak on the spray part and it keeps leaking. I ended up not noticing that and I opened the door, and water went all over the floor. I called a couple of days ago about getting it repaired.

They gave me a sprayer. When it was advertised on TV, they said you get the package deal with the shower on top and the sprayer. They never gave me a shower on top. I said, “That doesn't matter. I don't really need it.” But I was supposed to get it and I didn't get it. Other than that, it's a nice tub. Everybody seemed to like it. And the people that put it in was excellent. But I can't use the jets the way I want them to press on my feet. I’d like to use it but I gotta wait until I get this afib done. If I feel afib kicking in, I get stuff, and it's uncomfortable to be in there. I feel unsafe because it's full of water and I can't get out. So, I only go in there if I know I'm good for the day. It's gonna be nice when I can use it. All the jets feel great. I had a good experience with it. I'm very happy with it. It’s just the stuff with the leak. And the tech can fix that part fast. They will probably bring out a new sprayer, put it in.

When the installation was found to be defective after a week, the problem of aesthetics was ignored. We think the buckling of the facia degrades the appearance of the house. Later a tub-hose sprung a leak and caused a flood. The response time was slow. It took 3 days before we could bath. The flooding issue was not addressed, and hopefully there will be no damage to the house. Only time will tell. Then the drain cable seized, which we are trying to deal with. There is supposed to be a lifetime warranty, but no service response, yet, after 3 days. When you have a tub installed in your house and it doesn't allow you to bath and you are insulted by false promises of repair times and unanswered calls, it's just not worth $23,000...

Safe Step seemed like they had the best tub. They came out and demonstrated their product. They showed me how their product was made and what it was made out of, and it seemed like to me it was a better tub than the other guy. The other guy threw me off when he said his tub is what they put on submarines. I didn't believe that. I didn't think they would be able to afford to make a tub out of stuff like they use on a submarine. The only feedback with Safe Step is the salesman didn't want to talk to us after he got out. It seemed like after he got the tub sold, he didn't want to have anything to do with us. They didn't give me a number to call if something went wrong with the tub. I had to figure that out for myself.

When we first got the tub, it wouldn't drain right and I had my wife stuck in there. We were trying to drain the water out. They sent a guy and he fixed it. It's draining perfectly now. The other day, the knob came off the door. Their guy came out, and he put it back on. He said I shouldn't have any more problems with it. I didn't expect the drain not to work when I first got it, and I didn't expect the door handle to come off of it. The guy that fixed it said the guys that installed it didn't do the drainage the same way they're screwing the drainage. They didn't put some kind of light grease they're supposed to put on there to hold them. So far, the tub does not have a leakage at the door. Overall, I'm well-satisfied with it. I like the jet thing. My wife's been using the tub a lot. She seemed to be happy with it. She thinks that the door should have been a little bit wider than it is. It seems that the quality, the material, and the stuff it was made out of are solid.

I've been trying for three weeks to get somebody to come out and look at my Safe Step tub because I got water running all over the floor. I've never been able to get anybody to do that. I made 12 calls before somebody got somebody to call me back. It took about five weeks to get somebody to come out and look at this tub, which is unacceptable.

The problem with the tub is the front end of it. The door wall is lower than the back wall. I put a level on it and it's about a quarter of an inch lower on the front end than it is on the back end. Any water that gets splashed up in there runs across the shelf, down the front of the door onto the floor. I usually take a shower in this in the morning and I have to put a towel all the way across the shelf to soak up the water so that it won't run down the front of the tub onto the floor. I called the guy that Safe Step has that's supposed to fix this. I told him the tub is not leveled and he said that can be fixed. That was three weeks ago. He said, "I can do this next week sometime, and I'll call you and let you know when I'm gonna come out."

And I would go into tiny bubbles, I would have to open that curtain, and I've got a fan there that blows in there, because it is hot. It's like a steam bath. It's refreshing in a lot of ways. The first time I used it, I had the best sleep I've had in a long time. And ever since, when I get out, it's the best sleep I have. I've recommended the tub to anybody. The jets and how they lined up around the back are my favorite features. The walk-in tub seems to be a nice unit. We're still experimenting with it. We've only used it a couple of times but Nancy hadn't been able to get in and be submerged because of the knee surgery she had last week. But we're doing that when she gets her bandage dissolved. Next week, she'll be able to get in the tub. I have lower back issues, so I enjoy relaxing in it. We thought it was gonna be a little bit longer. There are several around our community and probably should have investigated a little more. But I can't fault the sales rep for that. We also got the music, lighting, bidet and microbubbles. The Safe Step rep was a liar. She should have come out and told me that I needed a tankless or a continuous tank of hot water installed before I could proceed with this procedure. Because the water tank I have, which is brand-new, only holds 40 gallons of hot water, and the tub is 100 gallons. So, I didn't have a big enough hot water heater to supply the tank to enjoy the tub.

I have not been able to get an electrical person out here to check the circuit breaker to see if I have enough power. 'Cause if I don't have enough power to power a tankless continuous water heater, then I have to install some breakers in my house. And because I live out in the boondocks, I can't get anybody to answer my call as to buying me one, coming out and installing it so I can use my tub. I've had my tub for almost a month, I used it one time and it didn't fill up, but just a quarter of the way and the water turned ice cold. I have not been able to use it since and I spent 25 grand for the tub.

I expected to be able to use this tub every single day. The salesperson said it was gonna take a month to build the tub. During that month, I could have checked into the electrical and the plumbing. I could have had all of my ducks in a row so that when the tub would get installed, I could enjoy it immediately. Now, I’m trying to scuttle. I’m having nothing but problems. I’m totally dissatisfied. The tub looks nice. But there were parts missing that they had to order and get sent to me, and they said they would send me the part the next day. But I didn't get it for a week, which didn't matter because I couldn't use the tub anyway.

I needed a step-in. I called Safe Step and they sent me this representative here and he talked and talked out here. I've not been able to use the tub though. There is something that was not hooked up right when the installers put the tub in. They wouldn't let us watch them. They kept the blind and the door closed and said they didn't want us to bother them. It made them nervous. My son said he didn't see anything wrong why he couldn't, but he was sitting there in the living room which went straight through to the bath and they shut the door where he couldn't see them. Before they set the tub, they had to put a plywood down.

Now, somewhere beside of the tub and my vanity there, there's a hole. I had carpet in the bathroom, which I shouldn't, but I did and I never had trouble with it. My son said “Mom, a snake can come up in there. You can see right beside that tub. You can look down there and see down in under there.” He raised the side of my carpet up. You can see to the ground. It scared me to death. Also, there's a leak under there and they're not finding it. I've got plumbers here. They told me I'd had to dig a hole because the underneath was too close, and they couldn't get in under there to get up to it where they need to be. So, I had to hire a guy to bring his digger and come back here at the back of my house, going through the bathtub. He dug a hole back there big enough for them to go in under my house.

The guy went all the way under there and he look. He said, “There's water. There's water coming down where they hooked that up, somewhere up there. They've not got that hooked up right, some way or another.” They got up there to try to hook it up. It is hooked up, but there's water some way or another. The plumber called, Scott, the guy that put it in. He talked to him for a minute. The plumber told him what they had found and started asking a few questions. And when he did, Scott told him he didn't have time. He was rude, and hung up on him. My son called Safe Step's customer service and he showed them pictures of it. They had to have a piece of paneling, and they went up to Ace's Hardware and brought in a piece of plywood and put it in there.

I looked at the Forbes list of the top bathtubs and I was not impressed. The thing about Safe Step is they don't submit information for those. They're self-contained. I went to the Safe Step website, read some reviews, and studied the situation that way. TJ was my rep and he was fabulous and really good. I have two active duty youngsters in the military and TJ gave me a discount for that. Safe Step gives you a discount for your hot water heater too. They did everything they could. We were cash customers.

The installation was exactly like TJ said it would be. The crew came on time, which was a big deal to me. They looked at what needed to be done and made some suggestions about the floor. We just bought this house and they found some black mold behind the tub. They were gonna have to take care of that to put up a false wall there. We went extra and got it and got another floor. I'm glad we did that.

The crew told me what time they would be finished and they finished at that time. They came at 8:00 and were done by early afternoon. Even with adding and putting down the floor, they were done in four hours. They were talking about the toilet and we asked them to replace those. They went round the street and got toilets and did that for the other bathroom and this one. Even with that run to Home Depot, they weren't here for more than six hours. They were really fast.

I like the music in my walk-in tub. When you turn on your tub, it announces that the Safe Step is ready and ready to pair with your device. I pair it with my device and I can choose my music before I get into the bathtub. When it pairs, it just picks the music up. You can set the volume on the phone. I leave my phone in the bathroom across from me. I'm funny about electrical appliances and water.

I feel a lot better with my walk-in tub. I like the lights and the microbubble feature is really helpful. My husband had some distortions with the rash stuff and it's really helped him. I had a little discoloration, but not a lot. I had a foot that was giving me a big problem. There's the bidet too, which I never had a bidet before. These things make you feel luxurious. We prepared for our water bill to be really high but it has not gone up significantly.

I take a Safe Step bath three times a week and I really like it. The draining feature is really good. It drains fast. The water never gets cold. It's like a spaceship and so it has temperature control so your water stays the same temperature. It's a spa. It has a heated seat too that you turn on. You just turn on your music, you sit down, and you're heated. When you hit your water feature, you get a back massage with the water. You can do your feet and your back or just your feet or your back. It has a thing for you to turn there.

It has a timer on there and that's good for people who are maybe unable to maybe have caregivers. The nice thing is if you want to stay in there a little longer, all you have to do is reset it. You can stay in there as long as you want. It's a good system. This walk-in tub is worth it. I'm not swelling anymore. I would suggest Safe Step from the standpoint of economy. It's a great upgrade to your home and it adds value.

The only thing is I've got to find a place to get in another Safe Step towel. My husband didn't get one. We have one that we'll use around the holidays. People come over to look at the house, and I go, “Let me show you my new toy.” People go, “Wow!” Most of my friends don't have space. They're getting sold on the showers.

My prediction for walk-in showers is it’s short-lived because you're talking to people right now who are 50 to 65 and still pretty mobile. I tried to look at our house in 10 to 20 years. I do not suggest those showers because who's gonna help you walk in it? A lot of the stuff that TJ pointed out was tested by the Arthritis Foundation. I have arthritis. There's a non-slip surfacing on the bottom of our walk-in tub. There are handrails inside the tub because those do not do me any good outside of the tub if I need to stand up or I need to get out. Those are things that are important.

But it's pretty hard to close it. To shut the door, you have to be pretty strong. Other than that, my husband really enjoys taking a bath with it. Every other day, he uses the tub. He likes the music too. The tub cost a lot, but it was worth it.

The installation was supposed to be on June 20th. But the rep called and said the techs would be here with my Safe Step on the 5th. I asked, "Will you get in touch with the people that are gonna put it in to make sure it's okay with them." She said she would have everything lined up. But I didn't hear anything else from her. On Sunday, I thought someone would call to say around what time the techs would be in on whatever day they were coming. But that Monday at 9:00, the doorbell rang and it was the installers. The installation was a great experience. The tech showed me all the features. We got the tub to match the color of the tile around it and it looked perfect. So far the tub has been a tremendous help to me and we are all enjoying it. I go in there, sit down and turn all the jets on. It's heaven on earth.

Before, when I had the whirlpool tub, we had to step up high. I had to get the eat put across the tub for my husband to sit down and I turn around in the tub. I had to bathe him like that. With the Safe Step, the only thing I do is help him get in it and lock the door. He can bathe himself. He enjoys it because he plays his music or listens to a sermon while sitting there.

The gentleman who came over was very personable and nice. He was not pushy in any way. I said no to his proposal and my husband said yes. And he never says yes to anything like that. So, we got the walk-in tub. The installers were here ahead of time. Four men were working with the gentleman who ran the crew. They were great and knew exactly what they were doing. They came in, took out the old tub, put the new one in and walked us through what we're supposed to do. I was sitting in a chair and the gentleman who was running the crew got down on his knees and showed me the pictures and went through everything to me. So, I didn't have to get up. We expected eight hours and they were out of here in five. The quality was good. The paint was knocked up a bit in the bathroom but we have extra paint downstairs. We can just touch it up.

My husband and I each had the first bath that we've had in two years. We just lived with showers all this time because neither of us could get out of the tub. The features are hard to get used to, but we're hanging in there. I did not lock the door when I took my very first bath. My husband came in just to see how I was doing and he asked why there was water all over the floor. I said I don't know. We just got some wet towels and rugs. It was certainly my fault. Fred, my husband, called the salesman and he asked how we liked the tub. Fred told him we're doing well other than I flooded the bathtub. He said we were learning the hard way. My husband and I are not overweight. But if you are overweight, it would be very difficult to get in the tub. It's small and very squeezy for a big person. The jets are great but it's noisy. I got my tape in here and I'm gonna take a bubble bath and listen, and I could not hear my tape.

They said they'd put a shelf in here, but there's none. They also told me the water wouldn't run that fast enough and they told me to call a plumber. I called the plumber and the plumber said there was nothing wrong with the line. They told me I had to have it in writing before they'd come out here and see about it, and I just forgot about it. We are totally disgusted.

I hate the walk-in tub. It's not what Safe Step said and it costs too much. They charged me $18,173 and it ain't worth it. My friends and relatives came out here and looked at it, and I got negative comments. I wished I had never heard of Safe Step. They told me what to do in the electrical circuit box. Two, we had originally opted for this glass closure. When it came in the box, how huge it was and heavy, we decided we'd rather not have that. We’d just use the shower curtain. The fellow told us at that time that if I called and told Safe Step that we opted not to use it, somebody would come and pick it up. That's been over a month, but it's still sitting in a box in the hall, taking up all kinds of rooms. Somebody was supposed to call me back last Friday but they didn't do it.

The salesman was very thorough. I had very few questions because he pretty well-covered everything. But the installation was a nightmare. What I got is a gaping hole for a door. That was the 10th of May and I've been without a bathroom door all this time. I am not pleased at all. I talked to Chris, the installer, and they had forgotten to bring a door with them. Nobody had a 28-inch right-hand swing door pre-hung anywhere around. I called Safe Step on May 22nd and I didn't hear from anyone from Safe Step until Chris called me two days ago.

They knocked $350 off of my contract to compensate me for the door. But my issue is I don't have a pickup and I don't have a way to pick up the door frame. I called the contractor to see if he could put it in and the $350 will not do it. That's not enough money. $475 is the cheapest quote I've had to put in a door. They've tried to talk me into putting in a six-panel door but all my doors are solid doors so I don't want it. This is not the experience I expected. There are some little hiccups here and there that have got to be fixed, as well. Chris is gonna come back and replace the seat heater, which doesn't work. Also, the drain pops out. When I kick it over to lock it down, it pops back out and it starts draining. And I can't find anywhere that tells me how the aromatherapy thing works.

    Reviewed July 16, 2023

My mom who's 81 is struggling to get in and out of a regular tub. The Safe Step walk-in tub gives her more independence. I have already talked to the company today about a couple of things I'm not happy with. The first one is up to the installers. When they left the house, we realized that one of the places where they caulk did not seal, and it was coming loose. So, I immediately called them. It was maybe five minutes. They said they'd come back to us next time they're in the area. My issue with that is they were five minutes away, and it would have just taken you five minutes to caulk it.

The other thing that I'm concerned with is I wanted to put some things on the walls for my mom to put her shampoo and stuff in. I selected a heavy-duty sticker that goes on to it and then they hook in. I was cleaning the spot where I wanted it to be, and it feels gritty like sandpaper. It's everywhere except in the tub itself. The outside and the inside of the tub are smooth, but anything above the top of the actual tub is not. They said to clean the pipes out with a cup of bleach, a tub of water and dishwasher. I tried some bleach on it. That didn't touch it. It doesn't say in the book to try vinegar, but our salesman said it works better than the bleach. I tried vinegar on it. It didn't touch it.

I tried some Dawn and a cloth, and that didn't touch it. The only place it was smooth is where I started to put the sticker on and pulled it off, and that pulled the grit off. So, I called the company today, and they were supposed to get back with me in five to seven business days. It'll be, unfortunately, the same guys that came out. We have used the tub being very careful about it. So, we have used it. When I called the company, they said, "Well, did you step in it right away?" I'm said, "No. They said, wait 24 hours." We actually waited almost 36 hours. So, we waited longer than we were required to. We've been very careful with it. There have been a few things mom complained about, but they were because she didn't understand something.

Overall, I love the tub. The microbubble therapy is wonderful. All the bubbles make you feel like your legs just wanna float to the top. The rainfall shower thing feels so amazing. Having the handheld as well makes it nice and easy for my mom and me. I'm more apt to shower than I am to take the baths just because I'm always in a hurry. If I'm taking a bath, and my mom would fall, I can't make the water drain any faster than it'll drain, and you can't open the door. There's a lock on it, but the water pressure is pushing outwards. So, pulling the door inward to open would be difficult, but I also love that aspect of it because the water pressure is helping hold the door close making it less likely to leak.

The product is a $20,000 investment, but it gives my mom back her independence. She can get in the tub when she wants to. The light, the ability to do the aromatherapy, and the jets are wonderful. The fact that you can fill it up as full as you can and soak down in reminds me of the old clawfoot tub we had when I was a kid. It's amazing.

As far as the company, they answered the phone when I called. I wasn't having to leave a message and have somebody call back. They were courteous and were more than willing to help me. Somebody is supposed to call me and get this scheduled to fix within the next seven business days. So, I'm really happy with that. Everything that I wasn't happy with is probably a matter of better training their people to have the customer first and come up with a solution or maybe training the consumer of, "Hey, you're gonna feel like this is rough.” It's just to me, if it's rough, it may hold bacteria and stains.

The salesperson answered all questions and with great reassurance. It was typical program salesmanship. But the conversation was excellent and he did a wonderful presentation. He did everything that he was supposed to do in a manner that was acceptable to us. Safe Step has a couple of different features that other companies didn't offer and I got the walk-in tub. The installation could have been better. There's a lot to be desired with the contract people that they assigned after the sale. Safe Step is responsible for their contractors and I am dissatisfied with it. The contractor was not up to professional standards. But Safe Step, the brand name and the sales, lived up to their expectations or advertisement.

It was an awesome presentation by Safe Step. That gentleman that came and did it, did a fantastic job. Answered all the questions, went through everything, step-by-step. I enjoyed that part. The installers did a wonderful job as well. Nice couple of fellas there. They came in, did the job, explained, let me watch. Explained what they were doing, answered questions. Good team there too. My wife joys the tub part of it. It's a little tight for the shower part of it. But I understand that because it needs to be for the elderly. Other than that, everything seems to be fine. We like it.

The salesman explained things well and the installers were great. They had a crew come up here and the guys were very polite. They talked to us about everything that they were doing and they were very knowledgeable. It took them about three and a half to four hours to install our walk-in tub and one of them explained how to use the tub clearly. So far, I like the foot massage and the back massage features of our Safe Step. I just like being able to sit in nice warm water and relax.

The rep knew his business, and we got along with making the deal. They started the installation at 8:30 and was done by 2:30. The tub is safer for my wife. It's got the stuff on the bottom so she won't slip and slide. That was the main thing that sold me. I'm well pleased with the product and I'd recommend it to anyone that's in their disabilities of getting in and out of a bathtub. I should have done it a long time ago.

I love everything about the tub as far as my needs. I would recommend it for anybody. Safe Step Walk-in Tubs's rep was a very good salesman, but he lied to me a couple of times, and I didn’t find out until later. He wanted to widen my bathroom door so I could get my wheelchair right up to the tub. And when the guys came to install, they measured and re-measured, and said, “You're not gonna be able to get your wheelchair in there, but we're gonna widen the door just to get the tub in.” That would have stopped me from even buying it right then and there. But I went ahead and went through with it, and they ended up tearing my cement floor.

On the hall side of the door, I have to repaint my whole hallway because of what they did. My floor, on the cement, they came back and put some cement in those places, but they cut my carpet away from those areas, and I have to replace the carpet right there. If the door had been put in right, they wouldn't have torn that much of my carpet and that cement floor. I didn't realize I would have to remodel the whole bathroom and my hallway. That gets expensive.

When they were installing the tub, the installers kept getting inside the tub with their shoes on. There are places in there I don't know how to get it clean. I don't know what they had on the bottom of their shoes, but I've tried everything, vinegar and all, without using something harsh. And it would be nice to have a clean-looking floor in that thing.

There was a gentleman who was out before then who took down where the tub would be arranged so I didn't have to worry about that when the Safe Step installers come to install. And the installers completed everything that day. The only thing that I have a problem with, because I wasn't sure how it worked, is the aromatherapy. That hole that’s in the back of the tub area where you’re supposed to put some kind of crystals. I had a problem with it until I reread the literature the last couple of days to figure out that it only worked along with the two settings. It tells me that I didn't do it long enough for it to kick in. At least that’s what I got out of it.

The Safe Step rep that came to my house was very courteous. He was presentable and nice. He sat here talking with me and my daughter. He answered any and all the questions we had and never did get upset about it or acted like we were bothering him. He was there for quite some time too. The installer and his little helper showed up at 10:00. He didn't introduce himself to me. But I just let them go at it. I let my son-in-law know to keep dogs in the room because I knew they were going to be in and out. The installation went fairly well. Then he explained and went over the use of the tub, which I'm still learning. There's a lot to take in. There are too many bells and whistles, but I'll get to know them eventually.

When the installers came, we had to take a car out of the driveway so they could back their stuff in to get into the garage. After they left, my daughter told me, "They left the garage door up and the kitchen door open." Good thing she noticed it because we got two little Boston Terriers. One of them would be hell to catch had she gotten out of that garage. Also, we still have flies because they left the doors open. It was horrible. There were flies in the kitchen, dining room and living room. That pissed me off.

When I got in the tub, I couldn't get the jets to turn on. I called Safe Step and told them I was having a problem. Then the installer called me and I told him the problem. He told me he was coming up the next day. He came out the other day and he had to put a new thing and took the thing that wasn't working. He was really nice.

Safe Step Walk-in Tubs' rep was perfect. And the installers did a great job. They got everything done that one day. I like my new tub. The only part I don't like is not sitting in it when it's not filled up. I'm used to having water in it first. But you can't do that with a walk-in tub. And it empties fast. I wish it would fill as fast as it empties. But I like the Jacuzzi effect. I’m happy with everything so far.

This was the second time that I've had the work done by Safe Step and I didn't like the way I was treated. I paid cash for this tub. I was told that if I use my cards, they were gonna charge me 3% or 8% to put it on my card. So, I said, “Okay. I’ll pay.” I also paid cash with the other tub. The first guy that did all the installation did it so fast because he was working alone. He didn't have anybody to help him. So he was simply trying to get everything done as fast as he could. He had to tear into the door and take the frame out. The same thing happened to the other one. But they never fix it up for me. Safe Step finally sent somebody to come and fix it.

I was gonna have to wait for them to come and finish it up. So, I called them up, and I spoke to a person. I said, “Just give me $200 to buy the paint and all the things that I need in order to finish it.” So, they did. They sent me $200 to finish up the job. But that was not the professionalism that Safe Step expounded on TV. I've had two dealings with them now, so I can truthfully say that neither time did the guys act professionally.

The tub itself will work, and it is good. But I don't even know whether I was charged the right price. We paid 14,000 for the first tub. For the second one, the rep started out at 20,000 but I dropped it down to 18,000. But that's not nice either. Safe Step should have a set price for an item like this, so everybody pays the same thing unless they wanna charge one person more than the other. I really don't like the way Safe Step handled the installation.

The sales rep was a good guy. He knew a lot about the product. It took 12 hours to complete the installation. It didn't work according to the specifications of the drawings. They tried to do a skip job on it. I had to call Joe and he got it resolved. My agreement was it was supposed to be a full enclosure. They were gonna take out one shower and put it in a new area, and then they were supposed to cover the wall away from wall-to-wall on the ceiling and wall-to-wall on the back wall and on the side. But the installer thought he was gonna come in and cut into my fiberglass back panel and just stop the whole thing at half. They wanted to just go 47 inches instead of almost the length that they had to go. But that wasn't what the agreement was. It was in writing. Everybody knew about it. The guys that were doing it even had the paperwork on it. But they tried to get away with doing that.

I ended up having to call Joe and he represented me and Safe Tub and he got the thing fixed and got it taken care of. They ended up working the whole day. I had to spend 12 hours over at my shop with my wife, and we're both disabled. We had to take care of that and spend our time over there because we couldn't do it in the house with all the construction going on. It's only an 800-square feet house. It wasn't a pleasant experience getting installed, but I love the tub.

The contractor did a great job. They met the specifications which I and the representative agreed upon. So I was happy and I'm happy with it now. It's like a personal hot tub with all the jets and you can drain it. We like it. But it was a lot of money. So you got to make sure you're getting what you agree on in writing with your representative and your people have to stand up for it. Also, Safe Step should tell customers that they need an on-demand gas hot water heater. I ended up having to spend another bundle on a heater so I could heat enough water to fill it. I assumed that I could have filled it with a 40-gallon hot water heater, but it didn't work. I failed on the very first try. But the tub does exactly what we expected it to do.
