I had a walk-in shower, so I took out the shower and put the Safe Step tub in. My problem is standing too long. My back hurts in having a shower, and I need all the aches and pains to come out with those jets that come with the tub. The gentleman was good. He knows what he's doing. He’s very neat. There’s a nice finishing to the tub, the glass in there. Only that I need to go to the university to get a PhD to use it. Because I have a remote control, and being my age, I’m not too quick on handling gadgets. But as I go along and see my way through it, they give me all the books to read for the instructions. And before the man who installed it left, he called us in and told us what not to do and what we can do and how to do it.

The sales rep was friendly and knowledgeable. He knew what he was talking about. He was also very patient. When the installers came, they knew what they were doing. In a closed place, they've done an excellent job, and to be that close together doing different jobs. I love the seating of the tub, especially the Micro part of it. We feel better, clean and relaxed when we get out the tub. My wife is almost an invalid and she can't get in the shower. I got this walk-in tub because I couldn't hold her up in the shower and bathe her anymore. But now she can get in this tub and sit there and enjoy it. I can help her get out, sit on the commode and help her to dry off. That's why I paid that ton of money for this tub. It's an excellent investment. You got all your different massages and the jets. The only drawback I have with the tub is that it takes a lot of water. I had to install a new hot water heater because my water heater wasn’t sufficient.

Most times, I do the air in the tub and the water gets bubbled and I just sit in it. I enjoy it. Everything's all right. But I do not know how to turn the shower on. They gave me a demonstration but I forgot it. I gotta call them to get it working.

Safe Step's sales rep that came out was very thorough. He went up and measured, and answered our question. We went over some papers, showed his little video, and he had some samples with him. The interaction was good. And then, the installers jumped back out there. They were on time, but they were waiting for someone else because once we've gotten the truck, they were still on the truck until the guy in the pickup got there. And then they came up to start the work. However, they were originally supposed to come the previous Friday but they ended up coming the 30th. They were supposed to be here on the 27th at 8:00 in the morning. I called and confirmed that we still had an appointment the day before. I spoke to Michelle before that. However, Friday came 8:00, 8:30. We tried to call, we didn't get an answer. I left her messages.
Finally, somebody called back later on that evening. They were like, "Oh." When I finally got somebody call me back, they said, "Oh, well, we had called to cancel the appointment because he had an injury and wouldn't be able to work." Later on come to find out, the people they had scheduled for the 30th was who they called. They didn't call us.
They came, put it all in. I went up and saw different phases of what they were doing. They were polite while they were working. Greg, the one in charge, was very courteous, explained what was going on, said this what would happen. When they were done, they cleaned up everything. They even vacuumed around, sealed, did a quick tutorial on how the tub works, and what and what not to do. I was very pleased.
After they were done with the work, my brother was there and they said to just contact the company and they would mail us a receipt. It took almost two weeks to get a receipt. I left a message for Michelle and with the salesman. Finally, someone called me back and he was like, "Oh, that's my department. I'd take care of it." And not even five minutes, it was in my email. I didn't detect a eucalyptus when the aromatherapy was on. But I like that the water stays the same temperature throughout. There are different colors of water.

The Safe Step rep was very informed. He had good presence of mind of what he was doing. Everything was guaranteed for the life of the tub and it was a better product than Kohler's. Also, I was very satisfied with the money that they saved me. The installers were very knowledgeable. However, in their haste, they kicked a pipe loose in the basement and after they left, it leaked. They came back out and put it back together. They're still in the process of fixing the damage. Overall, I like my tub. It has jets, bubbles as well as stuff where I put aromatherapy beads in. Also, it drains very quickly.

The sales representative at Safe Step told us exactly what to expect and we got what we paid for. The installers came in, they started in the morning, and they were done by 5:30 in the evening. They showed us all the features and how to use it. They also gave us booklets. My wife loves everything about the tub. I enjoyed it too.

My Safe Step tub seems to work pretty well. I like the ease of access taking baths and the water jets are kind of neat, too. I got the stand-up shower kit and it seems to be a little more controllable as far as the spray goes. The showerhead should have had a little more distance toward the middle of the tub, though. As far as the installers, they came in and got it done in one day. It was kind of a straightforward installation. They didn't have to move any toilets. I'm satisfied with it. There was a couple of spots there on the caulking that I redid myself. It was no big deal. Overall, the guys did a really good job on the installation. The tub drains really fast. It's pretty amazing.

The workers went in, tore the door open, and did this and that. When they finished, we could see none of it. Then when we start the water in the tub, it's hot. I wish it wasn't like that. The cost is a little high too. But the quality is good.

The Safe Step rep was thorough and very good. But he didn't get all his paperwork done. I got a letter here in my hand now and I was trying to get to mail back to him that I had to sign for him. The installer called the day before and told me what date and the time that he would be here. He was here and was very prompt. He worked very hard getting the walk-in tub in. He knew what he was doing and he didn't tarry long on it. He went right to work and stayed on the job until he finished it.

What we asked for and ordered was too small and we couldn't even get in it and close the door. It was corrected, we just had to wait an additional time before it was installed. We like the tub as far as being in it. We’re feeling relaxed after we get out, so it does the job. Overall, it's a pretty good product.

The installation team came out and did a good job. I had to call them back 'cause somebody had to do some changes on it because the door wouldn't close on the tub and they didn't put in the shower part. They put that in on Sunday. I don't get in it that tub much because it ain't been running right. Since they put the door on and the shower in, it's all right.

The guys who did the installation were superb. Then, we had a leak due to the weight of the tub. Some other guys came out and fixed that issue and they were all very nice, helpful, and friendly. The one thing that we don't like is that the little shelf area behind the shower sets in water. So, if there's some in it, then it'll run down to the side of the tub into the floor. If there's a way Safe Step can fix that, we will appreciate it. But we absolutely love our tub.

The Safe Step had a crew of four guys come in and in half a day, they were done. They had to take out a lavatory and put the walk-in tub in there. They checked everything out before they left and cleaned up. The walk-in tub works and there are no leaks. I've only used it about three times so far and I've had a hard time getting in and out of it because I've had a stroke. The design of the door needs to be changed.

My wife and I like using the water jets and the micro smooth where it's supposed to make the skin softer and get all the scaly skin off. However, when we let the sealing settle for a day after installation and turned it on the next day to use it, we found out the air blower parts didn't work. I called Safe Step a couple of weeks ago and they said somebody would call me, but no one did. Then this morning, I called them back. They put me on hold and called somebody and said somebody would be here Friday, but I'm going to be out of town on that day. I also haven't heard from the guy who is supposed to call me, so I'm not happy about this part.

I've been happy with the Safe Step walk-in tub so far. The installation went really well. They were in and out of here in record time. I got a few little items where the silicone they put for the end is cracked. They need to send somebody out to fix that. Other than that, everything's fine. I've got a lot of medical issues. I had a lot of spine trouble, operations on my spine, loss of use of one leg, and I got a lot of hand problems. I decided to try this walk-in tub to see if it could help me. But so far, it hasn't.

Safe Step was great. My wife uses the walk-in tub feature more than I do. The installers have to tear out of what was there originally. So some of the construction in the bathroom, you could still see in the ceiling where there used to be a wall there. The bathroom looks unfinished a little bit because of some of the deconstruction that never got finished once the install was done. There were some unfinished construction pieces that needed to be done by us or by contracting with a third party. It would be nice if some of that was estimated and included in the initial installation. We also had an issue with the draining after it was installed and we had a plumber come out. There was a little bit of an issue over whether it was an improper install or if it was clogged due to my wife's hair. But we got that resolved within 24 hours.

My experience with Safe Step tub was pretty good. I told the rep initially that I was not sure about having it as I didn't realize how expensive it was going to be. I would have to check out with my bank to make sure I could secure the money that I needed. I ended up getting a home equity loan to get the tub. I called Safe Step to find out if they had scheduled a date and they didn't. I had given the rep a deposit of $100 which was a very small amount. He called me back and said he was waiting on me to let him know. We made arrangements for him to come and pick up the $2,000. He told me he would be here on a certain day but he didn't come. I called him again. After three calls, he finally came and got the other money and we got to go from there.
The installers were here most of the day and they were nice. I was not told that there would be a state inspector that would come after the installation so I was surprised, but that was all right. He checked everything out and he was actually going to fail the inspection. I asked him to send me a copy of the email that he would email to Safe Step and he did. It passed.
The other thing was both the salesman and the installers looked at the 50-gallon hot water heater I had. They said that it was adequate for the tub. However, on the original cost of the thing, they gave me credit for upgrading. That was $750. Lo and behold, we weren’t able to get the water hot enough. It would go halfway and the water would turn cold. I called the service department of the company and they said I should have known to get in touch with a plumber. It said so in the contract. It did say so but I went on the word of the installer and on the salesman. The comeback from the service department was that salespeople and installers didn't know the water capacity. I had to have a new hot water heater put in and it was an 80-gallon capacity.
The tub is beautiful and very mesmerizing when you get in. Now that I have the other hot water heater, I can get the water really nice and hot. On the whole, this is an expensive process. I wish I had gotten better service from the service department like having a return call. That would have been nice. I wish that the installer and the salespeople had not said that the heater was adequate because the hot water heater then cost me another $1,800. If I had known when I started I was gonna pay $17,000 for the tub then I was going to have to do another $1,800 on top of that, I would have thought a little bit harder about having the tub.

We couldn't get Jennifer in and out of the tub and she won’t pick her feet up enough to get in. Now with Safe Step, she just walks in and sits down, and I can give her a bath without having to bend over. She hasn't refused quite as much about taking a bath since we put it in. It is very convenient. We've been very satisfied with it. Also, Quinn, the person that we worked with, was an A plus 'cause he was fantastic.

We had a large Whirlpool that you go up one step then over another thing. It got too dangerous for us. We got a Safe Step walk-in tub and the rep was very polite and friendly. Installers came up on April the 14th. I gave them my cell phone number and we left. They called us a little bit before noon and they were done. It was quick. We really like our tub. I use both the tub and the shower.

I like the discount and being able to deduct it from my taxes was the deciding factor in buying a tub. I enjoyed the customer service all the way through with the Safe Step folks. The salesman suggested the door swing one way. When the installers came, they suggested the door swing the other. They all took care of it very smoothly, but they were not in concert about that. I got the full package which has chromotherapy, water, air, and some kind of aerated thing. I don't find the aerator and the aromatherapy doesn't grab me. But other than that, I'm very happy with everything.

Our sales rep was very efficient and she gave us all the extra things we didn't know about like the microbead and aeration in the tub. That thing was what really sold me. It removes the dead skin cells and all that made me feel very comfortable with buying the walk-in tub. We had other people come and Safe Step was the only one that had that feature. My skin is really soft and nice because of it.
The installation was quick, efficient, and clean. The installers were respectful men and they were pleasant. They made it very easy. Everything was done without having to come back or replace anything. I'm absolutely delighted with the tub and I fit in just beautifully. My husband tried too but he couldn't get in it. He's 6’2” and 250. The tub is made for smaller people than the Americans now. For the standardized tub, America is just gonna have to learn to suck it in a little. I told my neighbors about our tub and they wanted to know how the back massage was. That is especially wonderful. It's a nice soak. I should have done this walk-in tub 10 years ago but the cost was too exorbitant for us at that time. Now, we just have a little more.

I’ve had my Safe Step tub for over three months now and I still haven't had my first bath. The first two people as well as the second two people that came out to install it were totally worthless. I had to pay off on the third visit and the third two that came out were little bit better than totally worthless but it was still not acceptable. I hate it. They'd never talk to me. That was worth $17,000 I ever spent in my life. I’m really dissatisfied with this thing. I’d like to see them put out of business. I hope other people don't have to go through this experience. It was incredibly awful.

The three guys who came out for the installation went out of their way. We had pouring rain and a tornado warning when they worked at my house. They came at 10:00 and there was so much they had to do outside. They were soaking wet from 11:00 until they left here at 10 after 1:00 the next morning. They worked nonstop. They were precious. Also, the tub is of great quality. It has helped with the aches and pains I have with arthritis and the water helps my blood circulation in my legs and my back.

I’m 73 and I don’t get around like I did when I was 20 but the Safe Step tub is very easy to get in and out of, and it does everything possible. The step up was virtually unnoticeable. The tub was so simple to put in and the installers were in and out of the house in one day. We had a roll-in shower insert in our bathroom that was nice, but all you could do was sit down and let the rain hit you. But with this one, the jets and jet system work fine. I've got the deluxe rain shower and a handheld shower. I spent more money than I probably could have but you only go around once. I've got back problems, so the jets seem to help. I'll get in it and fill it up, and I'll run it for the 20-minute cycle. Then I'll run another 20-minute cycle. The jets work on every inch of my body and that's absolutely insane.
The product is excellent. I've seen others and they're not the same quality. The installation went exactly as they planned and their warranty on that product is 100% covered now or 20 years from now. People should consider what they need and speak for references from the company. I've seen others that appear to be, but are not as well built and as well thought out. I have no doubt that it would be helpful at this stage but that price tag put my wife in trauma.
Besides the price, the one thing that held my wife back was that she wasn’t sure how the cleaning would fly because it’s so different than a regular shower or tub. The people who came to install it were guys and they were not probably people who clean things at their house so my wife didn’t feel like she had a good answer in her heart on how that was gonna fly later. And to pay all that money and not have that answer was tough. But in retrospect, that part was almost the easiest thing she has ever done. We had some illness in the family and my wife wasn't sure how well she would like the tub as far as catastrophic cleaning. But it was easier than any area of the bathroom she has ever cleaned before. It was good because she had the opportunity to use bleach. She doesn’t like it much but in this case, bleach was a necessary agent and to have it be clean without a whole lot of effort on her part was nice.

I couldn't get the contractor to verify specs on the product. The tub is higher than what I was told so my design almost didn't fit. They said I was gonna have a shelf space but I barely have anything. They said they forgot to tell me because they have to do the pipes, it goes up three more inches. If you're going to be taking out and putting in a tub, you need to know every single little thing, especially as a bath designer. The salesman came out and gave me his pitch. He decided that the smaller Safe Step tub would go in and would be all right for me. He kind of looked at the area and didn't measure it up like he should have. When the installers first put the smaller tub in, it was too small and I had trouble getting inside it. They got a different tub, took the old one out, and put the new one in. But I'm having some difficulty getting the door closed.
I called the rep about some things and he said they'll get somebody out to take care of it. I must have called them 100 times and they never called me back. They called somebody who's supposed to schedule a maintenance guy to come out. Nothing. I finally got that taken care of, but it was just a treatment that they gave me. I called them and I asked to talk to somebody higher up. Nobody. I want somebody from higher up to call me to talk to me about this whole thing. The amount of money that they charged me for the tub wasn't worth it for all the headaches I've gone through. I refuse to pay them.

Safe Step's walk-in tub wasn't cheap but it would last forever. And if we ever moved, they said we could take it with us. The sales rep was very nice and answered all our questions. Then, the installation was supposed to be on a Monday but the installers didn't show up. So, we called to find out what went on and we were told that their rep had sent them to the wrong place. So on Tuesday morning, they came when they said they would. There were three guys and one of them walked us through all of the buttons and how the tub worked. He was very thorough and I was very impressed with their work.
Our tub has the rain shower and there's the faucet and the handles. I like the handles so we wouldn't fall. And that micro for the bubbles is really good. The heater keeps the water warm and that's very nice, too. I like the remote control as well. It does everything that the buttons do on the side, so it's really convenient. And it floats on the water, so that's good when you drop it in there. The tub is also easy to clean, plus, I like the exercises. When I was young, I used to do the water aerobics and they have the same steps to use.

The Safe Step walk-in tub is pretty expensive. But the quality and the return on what I was paying for the Safe Step walk-in tub seemed to be pretty good. It took about a month or less from purchasing the tub to getting it installed. They turned it around pretty quickly. The product seems good. But I'm completely dissatisfied with the way it was installed. There's a major draft underneath this unit after it was installed and there should have been something put down on the floor from an installation perspective, and the installer either wasn't smart enough or didn't care. His level of detail was completely lacking. He didn't finish installing things and left the floor a mess. He came back to fix one thing but didn't fix the other. So he had to come back. He was not someone that I would recommend to be installing anything.
The 30-gallon water heater is not enough and Safe Step should have insisted that I upgraded the water heater before they even installed the walk-in tub. I spent two weekends working out a system where I could control the volumetric flow rate, lowering the temperature as much as possible for the water coming out, turning up the water heater all the way for a half-hour. But it takes a half-hour to fill up. It's awful for my mom to have to sit in there and wait for it to fill up. So I've got a water heater on order.

My only complaint with the tub is my hot water tank isn't big enough to fill it so I have to get a tankless water heater. When the sales rep looked at the water heater, she thought it was big enough. I thought the same too until I started filling up the tub. Other than that, it's wonderful. I like the directions and there is a little disc I can do exercises on once I put that in the computer and see the exercises. Overall, the walk-in tub is well made.

I was expecting at least 24 to 48 hours for the installation but they had everything here. It was done in a few hours unlike any other installation we've had done. It took longer to install our sink than it did this time. Everything is so simple to use and I would definitely recommend it to anybody. It would be beneficial no matter what age you are. I've had other family friends come over and see it. For the price, it's a great product. It has helped our family. My son was here last night and he wanted to try the tub. He jumped in and got out. They came in and checked out everything before starting. They came in with masks too and they had booties on their shoes so this way, it wouldn't scuff up anything. They laid down mats. They were clean in the bathroom area and made sure to cover everything up. Once they were done, they tested everything and went through everything with us. They removed everything that needed to be removed. They were thorough. The quality of the walk-in tub is excellent. Before we get into the tub, there's a feature that you can heat the seat. My husband has normal aches and pains with arthritis, but he has had a back surgery too, and we try to do a lot of things to manage the pain besides medication. One of the things that we've found effective is either warm water or cold water immersion, so the Safe Step walk-in tub is good for that. The process of installing it took longer than we had anticipated, but the installers seemed like good guys. We didn't mind having them around. This tub is more affordable than going to a nursing home. It's really the cost of a Nissan. But I could finance it through them and it was a 9.9 APR. My payment is better than half of the payment I have on my Nissan.
We love our tub. We like the handle and the jets on the walk-in tub. But the buttons on the little dial are hard to read. My husband takes his glasses off and he can't see those buttons at all. Then it does not open to the outside, so if your walking is impaired or if you're in a chair, it's more difficult to climb in. It's also a little hard to push the handle down even to close the door. So, an 80-pound woman ain't gonna do this.
There's also a half shower curtain that comes up to the level of the tub, which is ideal because you don't want the whole thing hanging down in there with you. But the way that the tub is designed, you've got the whole length of the shower curtain in there across your whole wall that you've only got a three-quarter tub. So, all that shower curtain doesn't wrap around to the front of the tub unless you get it wrapped around the bar. When that shower curtain gets wet and you're sitting there wet waiting for it to drain, it's coming back on you. Other than that, I would still recommend the tub but people should have reasonable expectations and that they would have to adapt to it a little.

The Safe Step rep was very good and did his job, and the installers cleaned up good. I have Parkinson's and the walk-in tub helps my bones and makes me feel better. Safe Step needs to redesign the stopper in the tub though. It doesn’t go down like it should and it doesn't come up.

There were a couple of things that I thought the installers finished but they didn’t and I had to get somebody else to finish it. It was the floor right at the tub where they had taken that part of it. And originally, the installer got the water hose backwards, so hot was cold and cold was hot. But they came back the next day and fixed that. My wife has been struggling a whole lot and we hadn't used the tub that much yet but overall, it was a good experience with Safe Step.

I like the tub because it's got that vibration where you can get a massage-like thing. There's a lot of good features. However, we have a few things that need to be addressed. Our Safe Step tub looks like it's coming loose where they put it up against the wall and we didn't want water going down in between the wall and the tub. Also, with the board at the floor, there's no caulking under it. When we spill water, it goes up underneath that board. There was another thing about a faucet leaking that my husband was beware of. Two of the faucets were leaking up through the stem and we want it taken care of before something bad went wrong.
It's simple fixes. It needs caulking on two of them, but I don't want my husband to go in there and caulk it when I think we have a lifetime warranty on the tub and someone should come and look at it. I left a message and talked to a lady a week ago, and she was gonna put it on their schedule. They were gonna call and make an appointment to come back, but they haven't.
The man that came and talked with us about the tub explained everything to us. The only thing he didn't tell us is how wide the tub was. It's all right for us, but my daughter is bigger than I am. If she had to get in, she wouldn't fit in it. I also told the lady I talked to she needed to tell the company that they might make a lot more sales if that tub was a little wider because at least over half of the population in the United States is overweight.
The lady said they thought about that once before, but they didn't know about going into the expense of doing it. I said, “Well, look at the money they'd make if the tub was wider.” Right now, I have to stand up to lather off. I can't sit because my arms hit the sides of the tub. If it'd been another two inches, we wouldn't have bought it because I would have had a lot more problems with it.

The salesman that sold me the tub was very considerate, kind and thorough. He made me feel like it was a good choice for me. Although the installation was done quickly, the installers didn't leave me with hot water. It wasn't turned on. Because I couldn't use the tub, I had to have my son come out and he helped me with it. I like the tub a lot. It's a pleasure and I look forward to it. I don't use exceedingly hot water, but I feel warm afterwards for a long time. It's a good thing. I considered that it would be a little more economical to buy the tub and have it installed then I thought, "Well, then as far as warranty that could get complicated." That's why I decided to go with Safe Step. All in one. I made a good choice. This was what I was looking for.

I’m getting a little bit of age and I thought a walk-in tub might be a little safer for me. I bought one from Safe Step and I'm really sad that I did. The guy that sold the tub to me was supposed to come back and do an assessment on the guys that would come from Marshall down to put it in. He never did show back up. There was something that he said they'd put back in the wall, but they didn't put them back in the wall. They said that was unnecessary, so they didn't put them on the wall. Overall, I've been very disappointed. The guys didn't know they would have to take the door down to get the tub in. Then I had to show them where they could get their electricity for the GFR plug that they put in for the tub.

We needed to replace our current tub. We called Safe Step and we bought a new one. The rep misrepresented everything though. It has to do with how long it takes to fill up the tub. I'm 77 and I wanted to use it as a tub, but you have to really go in there. It takes at least 25 minutes to fill. I called the water company, and the pressure in the hydrant matches the pressure in the house. He said it only took three to five minutes to fill. It takes three to five minutes to empty. Emptying is not a problem, but filling it is.
I called the company and I got a woman on the telephone who said, "Well, you know what? I'll send somebody there to look at it. And if you call again, I'm going to charge you for it." So, it became a very bittersweet thing for me. I spent a lot of money on this. I really needed and want to use it, but it takes 25 minutes to fill. If I'm sitting on the bench in the tub, to get to the breast line is 25 minutes. I weigh 140 pounds, getting in and getting out is a little tricky, but it's okay. Everything that the rep said to me was really misrepresented. I take great issue with him because I had a problem and he just blew me off. When he came in, "Oh, you need any help? Call us. We'll take care of it." He didn't care about anything when I did.
I had one night where I must have not locked the door well and when I got out of the tub, I had a flood on the floor. So, I cleaned it up. Then I tried it again the next night. I probably didn't latch the door properly. But there were several things that left me feeling extremely upset. In the meantime, I had ordered an insert to my shower because the guys who installed the tub showed me the work that they did. It's taking a very long time to get this organized. They gave me a date that they're going to install it. I'm a little trepidatious about everything. I'm not a complainer either. I wouldn't complain unless there was a valid reason. The filling of the tub is the issue. I really love having it. I love to be able to get in it and do it that way because I can do what I did in the other tubs.
The tub is a soaker. I didn't buy anything with the jets, colored lights or electric panels because I had a hot tub indoors in my house for over 24 years, which I managed and ran by myself, so I understood what could happen with the jets and the pumps and the various things. So, I tried to have a very simple tub and that's what I have now. I have the shower connected to it, which is very nice. It has the hand shower, which is very nice too. But you cannot run the water and then get in it. If any water gets in between that connection with the door, which is I think it has suction connected to it, it's gonna leak. So, you have to be in the tub, latch that door, and then put the water on.
I wrote to the company and I said, "You know what? I spent $14,000 on this tub. I'd like to be able to get in it without having 65 people come to my house to constantly look at this and look at that.” The guy who was the installer came to check the pressure. He said, "Call the water company." I called the water company. The water company came and there was no way that they could make it any better. So, I've been just using it that way. It's one thing when you can run the tub and get into it. Then if you want to add more hot water you can. I love the curtain. It is a great thing. I have a heat lamp above the tub, which has been there for many years. Right now, it's coming in very handy with it.
At first, I was very impressed with how the tub looked. When I got into it, the putty is a semi-permanent putty and I was cleaning putty up around because it wasn't really dry. The way they adhered the PVC pipe left me a little concerned only because I washed it. But my husband seems to think it's okay. Then there was a big blob of putty that was something I had to get off. They didn't get it off. They didn't really clean up the way they should. It wasn't the way I thought it was going to be. Things were not done the way I thought they should be done. I was looking to see if I can find another faucet to get more pressure into it. I called the company. I said, "Maybe if I put a pump on it, would that help?" I had nobody answer me.
I love the product. I can use it as a tub if I bend and soak myself in the bottom part. But unless I put the water up higher, which I'm a little concerned to do, it's not what it appears in the brochure. Safe Step should tell you what you can do, what you can't do and what are the things that you must carefully do like making sure that that door is latched, there is no water in it and that you have to be inside that tub before you run the water. I'm adapting to what the tub will do, but I'm really very angry that the rep did not honestly represent what the things about it that could be a little challenging are.
I had ordered a second item. The rep gave me a price on it and then the next thing I knew, it was $2,000 more. I said to him, "You said this price." He said, "Oh, well, that was without the chair." It was very dishonest. I'm a little reticent because I know when I paid for it with the credit card, he took $1,500 for the shower when he only took $1,000 for the tub. This guy is not clean. He's not direct and he's not really telling you the truth. Now, I was gonna buy a tub one way or another. I had to make this house livable for me at this point in time and then decided to do the second bathroom, and I have a third one to do. So, I'm going to see how the second bathroom goes in, and see if I place an order for the third with Safe Step.

My experience went exactly the way the man from Safe Step said it was gonna go. They got the tub all tied together in one day, and they were out of here. They explained to me what they were doing and how they were doing it. Everything was pretty well done. The tub got a heated seat. It's got lights in it and the little bubbles that come up to supposedly take the scaly skin off of you. It also got a pulsation of the water to give you the therapeutic massage. I'm not satisfied, though, because I really can't take a shower in it like I thought I could. There is not enough room to step back. I got to stand in one spot in this rain thing over my head. You can't stand back and enjoy it. You got to stand right under it, and that ain't cool.

I liked the pricing of Safe Step. The entire buying process was smooth and easy. The sales rep I worked with was very nice. She fought hard for us to be able to afford the tub. She even found this tub with the same features at a lesser cost when it had been cancelled by somebody else after being ordered. All in all, the sales rep was very professional and very courteous. The installation was nice and easy. The gentlemen were very courteous and respectful.
My wife seems to enjoy the tub very much. I do have to do some additional work on the hot water system. I'm going to do a whole house hot water system. That way, we'll have constant on-demand hot water. The fill on the tub was a little more than I realized it was gonna be. Knowing the overall gallon coverage of what it takes to fill the pool up past the jets would be of great help for people making a decision because most people don't carry a 75 to 80-gallon hot water tank. A standard 60 really doesn't cut it. My time is even three-quarters away full or into total cold water. And if you don't have a quick recovery hot water system, it's not gonna be a warm bath. Overall, it was a good experience. People will get a little bit of sticker shock when they see that final pricing on the tubs. My tax man says I can take most of it off on our taxes because it's a medical support equipment.

My mom has a Safe Step walk-in tub and seeing how she so enjoys it, I decided to get one, too. I have arthritis and trouble with my legs that time, so I felt like that would be something that would help me out. When the first guy come out, he was very encouraging but we were trying to get something more reasonable than the numbers that he gave us. And when they brought the tub out, they didn't have the surrounding included in there. From my understanding, the surrounding came with the tub unless you say you didn’t want it. It was a bonus that they were offering that I saw on the web also. But the rep didn't give us an option as to whether we wanted that or not and that was never brought up in the conversation. So, the rep called us back and asked us if we were going to go ahead and if we did, we would have to pay $500 upfront. We explained to him that we thought the surrounding was included and he said no.
In the end, we went on and paid the $500. We didn't pay it at first, but the sales rep had to come back and get it because they hadn't told him he was supposed to pick up the money. So, we couldn't understand why somebody would have to pick up $500. But we felt really bad that we had to issue out $500 upfront like that whereas we already put 2,000 down on the tub. We were also given an interest rate of 29% and I didn't feel that was justifiable when we’re pretty good. I called the loan place and they said that was something that was arranged by Safe Step.
Other than that, the two fellows that came out for the installation were so nice and helpful. They said they wanted us to be really satisfied with the tub and that they didn't want us to do something that we’ll regret later. They were very professional and they did what they had to do. So far, I enjoy everything about the tub. They said that there's something out there that can help you with your skin but we didn't get that feature because the price would have been more than we could afford. I wish that that would be just a normal feature that would be included with the tub. But they said, the more features you get, the more you pay. Despite that, we love the tub and I feel more energetic after using it. I don't appear to be as stiff, too.

Whoever in the future gets an install, they need to know that it's gonna be loud. With this sledgehammer thing going through the wall, we weren't aware of all that extra noise that would take place. I tried the tub once. I'm 5'8", 220. If I was 6'4", 250, no way a big guy could fit in there. It's not made for big folks. Supposedly, we have the top-notch of that particular size. I had to go in there and sit down before I close the door. I cannot close the door if I was standing up. It has to be in my size. But mother fits well in it. I would still recommend Safe Step to others. But with those particular things that we need to know in advance, like, the noise factors, how long it's going to take. I was ready to tell them to pick it up and take it back. I couldn't use it for a week 'cause I could fill it but then I couldn't get out of it until all the water drained out. The issue was something that took about five minutes to fix, but nobody could get there for over a week. But it's working well now. Do the research on the tub. I know the tub’s good, but I don't feel the salesman is somebody who's upfront and truthful. He didn't care about what he said as long as he got the sale. I wouldn't give a dime for him. He is the son of the company’s owner and he misled us on a bunch of things, including on the measurements. You’d think he’d been in business his whole life that he would know how to measure a doorway. They ended up having to put a whole new doorway in. On the other hand, the people that came to the house and installed the tub were very professional, polite, and did anything they could to help.
I went with Safe Step because of what I read on the internet. It was one of the best tubs made out there. I like that it was made in the United States. I didn't wanna get a tub that’s imported in from China. They also put better faucets, whether it's Kohler or whatever it is. I wanted to stay with a reputable company that has a lifetime warranty as long as I owned the tub. It is a bit on the high side, but you pay for what you get. When the Safe Step salesperson presented to me the cost of the walk-in tub, the rep said that I had to sign up right away or I would lose the discount. That kind of salesmanship is tasteless. But that was alright because I wanted that particular tub. The tub is beautifully designed and has lots of lovely features but I don't know how to use it. There should have been somebody to give me a demo. Other than that, I love the automatic features that are built-in. That evacuation of the tubes is wonderful. When everything gets shut down then in about five or six minutes, the tubes get emptied. So you need to step out of the way or you get a little bit of frosting. It's just a wonderful thing to have.
There were these two young fellows who were part of the team. When I was being signed up, the team was supposed to be all experienced workers. They had a rigorous system worked out so that they didn’t waste any time. They allowed themselves potentially three days, but usually only used about two or three hours because they had the work planned out beforehand very carefully. They reported it back to Safe Step. I put them on the phone with my son who's a lawyer. He said, “You’re taking advantage of a 95-year-old woman. She thinks she's getting one tub, and she pays top price. And you give her an inferior tub.” So either they have to replace the tub or make some monetary arrangement. There are several items that I didn't get that I had expected, and they cannot be added. So, Safe Step has to deal with my son because I get too upset about this whole thing. It was $16,000. I actually had a call and an appointment set up with another company and my husband told me just to call and cancel it. I'm still learning to use the walk-in tub. Mine is not draining properly. It's a really slow drain and I actually hurt my hand trying to get it to a 45-degree, so that it will be wide open. I could never get it there and we might just have to call someone to check that part out. It says on the instructions that it's easy for people who have arthritis in their hands, but I don't find it easy. So there must be something blocking it or not working right. I had a phone conversation with support to fix it and my husband tried to fix it by twisting the screw a certain way, and it still didn't do what it should do.
I'm still having trouble with the handheld and it drips. It takes a while for it to stop dripping. If it's in the shower, it's the same way. Otherwise, I've enjoyed it. I've been in it three times. On the third time I was in it, I was very stiff that morning and could hardly move. So I got in the walk-in tub and the jets in the back really helped loosen up everything. It was supposedly my drain, but it wasn’t. We had a snake run down the drain because it had been running sluggish anyway before I got that tub put in there. I made sure they understood that. I thought maybe I had to have my sewer line run out, but another plumber assured me it was not that. It wouldn’t have been just that drain that was sluggish. We would have other issues. The guy that installed the tub, Bowen, came back and whatever he did that time did the job because it goes out fine now.
The first time when I got in the tub, I only filled it up halfway because I didn't have the hot water turned on like I wanted it. But then, I went to get out and my whole place was flooded. It was 10 o’clock at night, and my bathroom, hallway, and going into the living room was flooded. All I could do was throw down a bunch of towels. The guy that installed it said I probably didn’t have it locked right all the way. Now, I’m very careful. Price-wise, Safe Step is high. The tub works fine but I'm not really happy with some of the things they did with the installation. When they installed it, they didn't do a real good job on the caulking. A guy came back and did some stuff. One panel on there is crooked and I showed that to him. It's up on one end and doesn't line up and down on the other end. He said it was supposed to be that way but I still don't agree with that. Also, when they took my old tub out, they tore apart a wall up the sheetrock. They didn't put a piece of surround panel over that and just left that open. It's a mess in there.
Not long after we got the tub installed, I tried to call my sales rep. I wanted to ask him some questions about the tub because he was the one who told me his wife had one and how much they enjoyed it. He's supposed to be the rep and he would be a good person for me to call and talk to about different things about the tub. I sent him a message and asked him to call me but he never did. I tried to call him and went to his voicemail immediately. I still haven't heard from him. I let Safe Step know about this. Kevin at Safe Step told me he was gonna send the sales rep a message and have him call me. This has been probably a month.
It's a little bit disappointing when you spend that much money on something and the salesman treats you that way. With the smaller hot water heater, you get nice warm water up to knee high, and then the rest of it’s all cold. That's the only disadvantage we've got. We went to Lowe's to go ahead and get the inline hot water heater, but I'm not a plumber. They told me I gotta send a plumber up there to get one and to install it. What I really like is the seat warmer. When you get into the tub, the water’s already warmed the tub. My mother didn't have a seat warmer like this. The other thing I like is I just turn the water on the hot water until the cold goes away. Then I will shut it off, let it drain out, get in the tub, and my water is already heated. The handles on this one are great too which I didn't have with my mother's. They're situated just where you need them. I also like where all the jets are situated. It seems to make my legs and my back feel good. Overall, it's a very good tub.

The reps at Safe Step were great. Nick, especially, was very helpful and understanding. James, the guy who installed the tub, was amazing. I liked him a lot. He went out of his way to do an extra good job. I was very impressed with all the people involved. The tub seems to have great quality and it does everything it’s supposed to do. It’s got the handheld shower so I can sit there and rinse my hair. I like that it fills up fast as well as the massage and water features.

Safe Step is awesome. I love my tub. I told my husband before he passed away that we needed a new tub. I wanted one because ours was getting rusty, and I knew we needed one before I fell through the floor. He was like, “No, no, no.” He passed away and I thought I would check in on it. Then, I’ve seen Safe Step on my email, so I thought I would check in on it. Their guy came to my house. I really liked him, and he did a good job selling it to me.
I work in a nursing home and I’m in activity. So, I'm taking people back and forth. I work about six to seven hours a day, and I’m constantly walking. So, when I come home, the first thing I do is hop in my tub. I'm 57, I have varicose veins really bad on my legs, and I had a knee replacement. That doesn't hurt but it does wear and tear. I sit on the heated seat, and then I fill my tub up to about my legs, and then I just let her rip. I just enjoy the heated seat and relax. I would tell others to get Safe Step. I'm telling everybody at work.

He thought it was gonna help him with his legs but it didn't help him any. I enjoy the tub but it does nothing to help my legs like they said it would. They shouldn't say that it's going to work for your legs, your diabetes, etc. when it's not going to do a thing for any of that. My husband and I have bad legs and that was one of the reasons we purchased it but the tub made no difference.

I've seen Safe Step's commercials, and it was time to get something. I couldn't get into the tub. We had a Jacuzzi in the house that we have. My husband had a stroke and he couldn't get in and I couldn't get in. I love a bathtub, so we tried it. I like that I have a bathtub I can get into. We had a repairman come out a week after we had it put in. There were a couple of little things that needed to be taken care of, and he did a good job.
I'm really happy that we got it. I think some of the things you're told should probably be enhanced in different ways. For instance, the seat in the back doesn't get warm unless you turn that on really long in advance of you wanting to get in the tub. I really am not pleased about that. I have the system down, but I didn't, and so it was disappointing. But now, I know that I have to put it on long in advance. I have to contemplate this whole thing and turn it on. It's alright if I get in maybe 10 minutes later or so. Then it's warm.

The man that sold the Safe Step walk-in tub to us, evidently, made a mistake because our shower curtain and rod didn't come. He took pictures and he was even measuring everything. So he would have known enough to know what size it was. The gentleman that was gonna put it in got sick on the first day, which I perfectly understand. He told us when he left the first day that they had one in the warehouse and they would bring the right size. When they came back on, which was a Friday, they said that it was gone and they would order us one. It'd be five days. Two weeks went by and we still hadn't got it so I called in. Somehow, someway, they had not even sent it out. The woman assured me that it would be sent out and I’d have it the next day. The next day, we got a call from a man who said they didn't even have one. They had to order it from Amazon to get the right size rod and it took us about three days to get it.
Safe Step is a good tub. I like all of its features, especially the little bubble thing ‘cause I have problems with my skin and it seems to have helped it. My friends and family would enjoy the tub. We do. But you need a big water heater. We found that out because we had to get a different one.

One salesperson from Safe Step came out then for some reason, the schedule had gotten crossed up and another one came the following Monday. The second rep finally convinced us to go with the tub. He got the price down to where I was interested in. He quoted me and described to me in our bathroom specific dimensions as to where the tub would come. However, when the work crew showed up, they had a different tub than what the salesperson had talked about. The one that they had was two inches taller or wider somewhere. I did learn later on when I talked to a regional manager that the shower feature had a different name. We were led to believe that was part of the package. But as it worked out, it’s okay that it’s not. My wife didn’t like showers all that much.
Other than that, they did get the correct tub a week or so later and got it installed. They were fantastic. They saw the problem and exactly what I was talking about right off the bat. They told me, “This tub won’t fit there that way. We can order you this other tub but it’ll take a week or so to get here.” They worked that part out and their craftsmanship was very good. My wife likes the tub. I did have to go and buy a bigger water heater though. I thought that ours would keep up with it but it didn’t. I just got to installing the water heater about three days ago. My wife's been enjoying the tub sporadically before then but the last three days, she’s been in it every night. The features keeps her happy.
The only negative thing is when they leave, your bathroom’s not going to look like the one on the commercial on TV. If you’ve got tile, it’s not going to be finished. The bathroom is tiled ‘cause I built it that way. The salesperson had me initial and sign on the computer and we didn’t read the contract because it was several pages. He printed me out copies of it and later on when I read it, I realized their construction crew does not paint nor do they do tile. That was never mentioned in the sales pitch. But they worked with me extremely well for me to get the tile up in a way that I can fix it.

Safe Step had a good salesman and made the pitch. Like a fish, I took it hook, line, and sinker. I like the fact that the product was made in the United States. The installation was pretty good. We had one little glitch, but I think it'll work out okay. As far as the tub, you need to learn how to adjust the input of your hot water. If you've only got a 60-gallon or 70-gallon hot water heater, you can't just run it on hot. You've got to kind of play with it with the cold. It took me a while to figure out how to get enough hot water in there.

I like our Safe Step so far. My wife was wanting a walk-in tub because she can't stand up long enough in order to take a shower, and she can't get her legs over the other tub. The Safe Step rep did his job. The installer came in here and went right back there and cut the old shower out, and rolled it in. The electrician was there. They put the electricity again and they fixed the sidewall on it, and it went really good. They were in and out of here in a day. They did a good job.
As far as the product, I'm a little dissatisfied with the length of it because it's so hard for me to try to get into it, and we got the medium-sized tub. I'm a little disappointed that the door is so close. For a medium-sized tub, it's not near long enough. It should be another 10 inches longer. I'm still trying to figure the jets out and getting them lined up and everything to where we know what turns what on. I've turned the heat on for the seat and I noticed that the seat never warms up before I ever get into it. Other than that, they got a good product.

I started looking at walk-in tubs because I'm a sickle cell patient. I have Geriatric Onset Sickle Cell, and I contracted it because I had a blood transfusion. Nothing stopped the pain when I go to the hospital. One time, when I had the pain, my daughter said, "We're gonna take you to the spa, and put you in the whirlpool. And we're going to give you some scents and all that stuff and do some homeopathic stuff and make you feel." I went to that, and I came out immediately feeling without pain. I said, "You know, that tub is wonderful."
So, then, I started looking further. I had a tub at home, but it was just a regular Whirlpool, and when I saw this thing with the aromatherapy dispenser in it and a seat that you couldn't fall out of, I said, "You know, I enjoyed that spa tub so much and it made me feel so much better. I'll probably do better with homeopathic stuff rather than taking all that medicine that doesn't stop it anyway." When my shoulder and arm started to ache, I got in my Safe Step tub. I did the aromatherapy thing out. That misting thing helps, too.
Almost every morning I have some kind of pain because I'm 77 years old and instead of going to the shower, I take my bath in the tub. It still use the same amount of water and I feel better. So, I've invested because the insurance company wouldn't pay for it. I said, "I don't care whether I have to pay for this tub or not. I'm gonna have this tub because it makes me feel better." It takes away hours of pain. I fell on one of my knees before, so sometimes that knee has arthritis in it, which makes it really hard for me to walk if the knee, the shoulder and arm are hurting. I get in that tub and every morning when I get up, I'm feeling good because I took that tub the night before. I love it.
As far as the installation, the plumbers did a perfect job of installing and the water people did great. But when they applied for inspectors, the city sent the inspectors but they don't tell you they're coming. So, if you ain't home, they just stick a thing on the door and go. The company has to pay again for them to come. They did that twice and that was because they wouldn't tell me when they were coming. I didn't know whether to be home or not. They think everybody who wanted those tubs are just sitting there waiting until they come to inspect. Other than that, the installation is perfect. The scents come out right and everything works.
The salesman owns one of those installation companies. I noticed him because he was a little like he was as old as I am. He was such a nice man. He was so impressive. He didn't hard sell me because I told him, "Before you come in here, I want this tub. I'm just trying to figure out if I can buy it and will the insurance company cover." When they didn't want to finance it, he got on the phone and he called some people and he said, "Okay, you good to go. You're gonna get financed." I was happy about that. He did make sure that the company financed me and I'm fine, that payment isn't gonna hurt me at all.

I live in Tennessee and when I saw that Safe Step tubs were built in Tennessee, that interested me. I trust Pat Boone and he was doing an ad for Safe Step, so that impressed me. I looked at every video on their website that they had. I went through the whole thing and was impressed by that too. I called and the salesman came. I had a little uneasiness about him. I kept wanting to ask questions and he kept telling me to let him finish. It was as if he had a spiel that he had to get through and he could not stop to talk to me about my questions, which put me off a little bit. But he sold me the tub so he must have done a lot right to get me to sign the dotted line because it was so much more expensive than I expected.
He did a good job but I told him I wanted to buy a toilet along with the tub. He gave me a price and then, he gave me another price and it was a lot better. He had not included the toilet but it was a mistake. When I looked at the paperwork, I was thinking where the toilet was. So, I called him and I had told him that we've got to have the round toilet and not the long, oblong toilet because the door wouldn't close. He ordered the wrong one and so, I was about 10 days without being able to close the door to my bathroom.
When I called him about it, he got frustrated with me when I was talking about getting this thing switched out. He wanted me to call Jagger, the one that organizes what teams go where. I asked the sales rep if he could help me with it because I was a little hesitant to make a stink about things. He pushed me off so I wasn't happy with him by the end of the whole thing. I said that I couldn’t believe I spent $17,000 on a tub and he was not going to help me deal with this mistake that he made. But the installers were wonderful. I live in a home that was built in 1953 and it was built by a man that wasn't a contractor. So, dealing with an old house like this can be challenging. The installers did a miracle by getting the tub in. It took 11 hours but they were so patient.
I sent an email to Jagger praising these guys. It was Ben, Cliff, and Tanner. They worked hard and they were clean. They played very soft, Christian music. If they took a smoke break, I never saw them and I never smelled it. They only stopped for about five minutes to eat lunch. They worked so hard and got it all in. They had to take everything out to work the tub in to this little corner of the bathroom. They did it every bit, were kind, patient and helped me to have everything put back.
I love the tub. I took a bath this morning. The microbubbles were the things that I was the most excited about. On the second bath that I took, there was a screeching noise with the microbubbles and I turned it off. When they came to switch out my toilet, I told Ben about it and Ben checked it out. He said it was malfunctioning and he would need to come and replace that. I have not contacted anybody about that. I'm waiting to see if Ben does it or if I need to do something. But all the rest of it is fine and it's a fantastic machine.
I was hesitant with getting the tub because I'm so heavy. I was not sure I could close that door once I'm in there. The salesman came up with the idea that I could check that out before they installed it. This was something that the salesman did which was good. He called the boss and the boss okayed that they would bring the whole thing here and let me try it out before they installed it. When the guys came, they brought the tub in and put it in my front room and I got into it, and checked that I could close that door. It closed fine. They took it back out and then started the process in preparing to install it. So, that was a huge deal with me. It put my mind at ease because I had this horrible feeling that I was going to buy this thing and I was not going to be able to get into it.
I'm over 300 pounds and for somebody my size to be able to use the tub and be that comfortable is amazing. So that's one of the best parts of the whole thing. I bought it because my hip was injured and I could not lift my leg to get in a bathtub. It was what made me look for a walk-in tub in the first place. I've given out Safe Step’s website to people.

I invited my sister over when the sales rep came so she could hear his spiel directly because she had expressed interest. Also, I'm a single female so I felt more comfortable having someone here. When the rep started talking and showing me on his iPad the different things, he was knowledgeable about responding to all of my questions. He looked at the water heater. He measured the existing bathtub to make sure that there was ample space in the bathroom for the tub.
The guys who did the installation was wonderful. My house was built in the early 70s and the doorways are extremely narrow. So, not only did they have to take the door off the hinge, they had to take the whole door frame out. The hallway is narrow to be able to pivot the tub in and they had a furniture mover that they were rolling it in on and it was difficult to maneuver. I had a larger one at home. So, they used mine. It made it an even easier piece of work. They were very professional. They were coming from out of town and he ran through the attributes of the tub very quickly at the end of the day. I understand that and I'm not upset about it although I wish it could have happened differently. But there were enough materials that I could read myself. I still had to do some spackling and painting afterwards though.
My experience is on hold but I love the tub. The first time I used it, I ran out of hot water and it was barely over the seat. So, I squatted down in the foot area and turned on the air thing, and enjoyed that. So it’s all good. I couldn’t wait until I could get enough water in it to turn on the top jets. I have a 40-gallon water heater but it's not enough to fill up the tub. So, I'm having to put in a tankless water heater. I'm in the process of getting that done.

The representative answered all the questions we had and was able to provide everything that we needed. The installation guys did a great job. But the only problem was, we’re supposed to have a shower glass door, and for some reason, in manufacturing, the holes were not located in the right spot so they couldn't mount it. They got it corrected. I like the one feature about the oxygenated water where they blow a little air into it.
However, there was one cover that goes over a hinge that fell off after the second use. The other thing that is a little surprising is there's an adjustment to adjust the flow of air or water in the jets. I can turn it up or down but it doesn't have much impact. The guy said that so. We have a Jacuzzi tub and when we change the control on it, we can impact it quite significantly. But that controller is not very good or not working. The product could use a little tweaking to really be top of the line in my mind. I would expect a top-of-the-line walk-in tub would have as good or better control and a higher-quality product.

I like the tub, but I didn't realize that when I got it, the hot water heater that I have is not big enough to fill the tub so I run out of hot water. It's a 40 gallon, and it ran out. So today, I've had a new tankless water heater put in. I had to put in a new water heater for the tub. I haven't been able to use the tub because I can't fill it because it gets cold on me.
I like the jets, but I haven't been able to get the water high enough to enjoy the jets on my back. But I was able to enjoy the jets on my legs. We even had some problems with the flooring underneath the current tub that we had so they had to rebuild the floor underneath it. They did it, and it was fine. I like that I can get in and just soak from head to toe and not be uncomfortable.

The installation guys were okay. They didn't show up ‘til 11:00 and they were there ‘til 9:00 PM. They worked nonstop, without even eating. However, some things that the salesperson told me weren't really true or were misleading. We've got some of the caulk that's come loose. It's hard to touch things and the handle is really hard to close. The hot water temperature where it says 102.5 on the dial, if we turn it to that, it's really cold water. It's not even hot. He said that a 40-gallon hot water heater should be okay. We can't fill the tub with just a 40-gallon hot water heater. We've got to get a new hot water heater before we can really use it.
Then the walk-in was supposed to be half glass door half shower curtain, and the delivery guys broke the glass door. They told me that they had heard that with the glass door, people complained that the water was getting on the floor. We went ahead and agreed to get a discount and to use just the shower curtain. The water gets in the floor no matter what. My husband has called several times with these complaints and no one would ever return his calls. We're not really happy.

Dealing with the sales rep was very good. He was very knowledgeable and everything went very quickly. He knew what questions to ask and it was smooth. It was no pressure and no problem at all for us. I like being able to sit down and soak in a bath after 30 years of not being able to. It's warm, nice and soft. I like the one that clouds up the water and you hardly feel that it's moving the water around on you. But it is and you can feel it.
Since I have no balance at all, that is a wonderful thing for me. It helps a whole lot. It changes my whole outlook on how I do things. If there’s anything I cannot stand is my hair not being clean. I used to wait longer because it was so difficult for me. I couldn’t stand in the shower anymore so I lean against the deep sink and get my head in there, and get my hair washed. That wasn’t fun either. Now, I get in the tub, sit down and turn on the rain shower. I can use the handheld at the same time. So, between the two of them, I get this done very quickly since I’ve got hair that’s very long. Safe Step is awesome.

The Safe Step rep was great. He asked me, “What do you want with a walk-in tub? You seem to be doing fine.” I said, “I am. But one of these days, I might not be. I might need to walk in instead of climbing over. Besides that, I've got a daughter. She's got real bad sugar. Terrible.” And he told me about how those things help people, like the diabetic. He said it seemed liked it helped people that had sugar. He was more talking about helping the blood flow. We got along well. But I'm mad at myself for not dealing with him a little more and maybe got the tub down a little cheaper. I feel like I paid too much for it, but oh well.
The tub had some problems that the installers had to fix. I said, “I don’t know if I made the right choice or not,” but they fixed it. It wasn't their fault. It’s the tub. I didn't get discouraged with them, but it discourages you to pay money like that, and then you start having problems like that. But I'm satisfied with the tub. I like the one that does the little bubbles. It makes the water milky. And those jets churns that water. It will relax you. I got into the tub today and it pulls me down just because of that hot water. I feel great. After getting out of it, it does a good job far as cleaning you out. I've been taking showers in it now until I get a hot water heater big enough to carry that thing. A 50-gallon just isn't doing it.

The rep was very knowledgeable and comforting. He knew his business and didn’t push. He let me have the information and make up my own mind. I like the way that the walk-in tub heats up. It’s very soothing and accommodating. Safe Step might want to mention though that you’re going to need more hot water. It didn’t give me enough and I had to put in a new hot water heater. Still, the experience with Safe Step was informative and fantastic. I'm very satisfied.

She was professional. The guys who came and did the installation were excellent and respectful. I was amazed with how quickly it went and they got it done. I like the handheld shower better than the big shower. The one thing that I don't like is that the seat and the back are heated but the curve in between stays cold. When you sit down, that cold grabs you. I don't like the eight minutes it takes to fill because you're sitting there freezing. I might have done better if I checked out others but Safe Step has probably got the best product out there.

A friend of ours said that somebody in our community got a walk-in tub. So, we were thinking about getting one. We went over to their house, and they had a Safe Step. Then we went online and saw the ads by Pat Boone but we hadn't paid attention to him. It just goes in and out. But after seeing our friend with one, then we started paying more attention online, and did some more research, and decided that that was the one we wanted.
Darla was awesome. She presented all the different things. She explained everything to us. I must have asked her a million questions and she answered them all satisfactorily to us. She told us that we would probably have to hire a handyman because they try and make everything right. But they don't have certain specialties. They don't do tiles. But the installers put it in perfectly. So, we don't need to call the guy to do the tile. It looks like it was made in the house when the house was built.
What happens now is I fill the tub up to 80%, and then the tub runs out of hot water. I have to wait for 15 minutes, and then I can continue all the way. If we had a larger water heater, then I wouldn't have to wait. Hot water heaters, especially in the desert, only lasts for so long. So, when ours gets bad, I'll get a larger one and everything will be perfect.
The product is awesome. It has everything we like. I like the aromatherapy and the bubbles. They can either be water, air, or micro. They make your skin feel smooth. When you put the microbubbles in there, I could stay there for a month if I had to. I'll be 68 in a week and I have a bad back. It helps my back and it makes me feel good. I also like the heated seat, and I love the shower. I wish the tub had a heater in it. But that's something that can wear out also. So, this one will last. It has lifetime warranty on it. I intend to use it until I can no longer use it. If they could put a water heater in it that would last a long time, I'd be happy with that. But other than that, it's perfect. The price is a little high, but you always pay for what you get. This tub is higher than most. But it's better than all.

A family member told me how they enjoyed their Safe Step walk-in tub and I got one for my mother. The reps were very professional and knowledgeable of the product. I commended the installers for a job well done, and the timing and how they cleaned behind themselves, because they got a pile of dust that was produced from tearing up the old tub and that wall. Very good workers. I appreciate them. I referred them a couple of my church members and friends.
I am concerned about the door, and I've found three little chipped pieces of glass that are coming off. I don't know how where it came from. But I see a couple of pieces chipped off that little bar across the bottom that seals it when you close it. I also noticed that it's hard to close. But other than that, from just listening to Barbara and Bill tell me about theirs, until we were able to really use the tub, it was breathtaking. I have to limit my mother's time in it because she is not supposed to be in the water for baths no more than a couple of times a week due to her age. And then, we don't want to become dehydrated so we get in and then get out in a timely manner, but it is beyond what we ever would have imagined. I love the water jets. They’re warm and intense.

I called Safe Step because they were having a $1,500 off and I ended up going with them. The install guys were laid back, very nice, and friendly. But I was a little disappointed with the installation because I had heard that because of the COVID, that they went over every little piece of everything and everything was gonna be spotless and clean when they finished. But they finished with a full tub of water and when I let the water out, it was nothing but guck in the bottom of it from where it came from and we had to clean it all up. It wasn't wiped off and cleaned and all. We had to clean all the sides of it and the bottom. Around my floor was not clean. It looked like they were in a hurry and they had to get to somewhere or it was late.
We didn't realize that the walk-in tub was gonna take so much water and we only got a 15-gallon tank of heater. So, to fill it up, we have to put so much water in it and then wait for it a little while. We have to get a bigger water heater to enjoy it. We really didn't know that and they didn't express that to us. But we plan on getting a bigger heater eventually because I think it's gonna really be good. We really do enjoy the water, different cycles on it, because I've got rheumatoid arthritis and lots of other factors and I can see where different things do help.

But because of that, we didn’t know so we had a guy come out from Safe Step and look at it. He had to come out here anyway and take a picture because the installers forgot to take a picture of the serial number so it worked out well. Perfect example of LACK of Customer Service Skills. I ordered a Safestep walk in tub on 2/8/2021, after the deposit was paid the company called me and we scheduled a delivery date of 3/1/2021. The night before I received 2 delivery confirmation date for 3/1/2021 and they wanted to make sure someone was at home to receive it. I took off work in order to receive it.
3/1/2021 came and I receive a call from the installer that he received the wrong tub. I called the company and spoke to Michelle and James, who informed me that there is nothing on the contract that states they must honor the delivery date and that contractually they do not have to refund the deposit. The customer service is awful. The reason for the delay is that someone failed to provide a product code, my reply was that they had this order for 1.5 months and now they are telling me that no one noticed there wasn't a product code on this order, then they blamed it on the snow storm they had in Tennessee, my reply was that to a degree I could understand that, but then why was I called to confirm delivery versus someone calling, explaining the situation and requesting a possible reschedule.
They then tried to blame the installers for calling me before they had the item. I replied that the installer is not to blame and the March 1st date is the date agreed to with the company.. He then stated that they are not contractually obligated to honor the delivery date, my reply was "if you took the deposit and we agreed on a date, you are most definitely contractually obligated, this is considered a breach of contract on your side."
Bottom line is that Safestep walk in tub are only worried about their bottom line and have no concern nor respect for their customers. I believe that all who have been affected negatively by this company one way or the other should make their complaints go viral. They need to be reminded that the customers are their bread and butter. No customers, no paychecks.
The reason I ordered the tub is because I have an elderly grandparent that lives with me that suffers from dementia and have fallen out of our tub. We ordered it for her protection. I have filed complaints with the Attorney General's office and also the BBB. Mind you.... I took a day off from work to sit and wait on these ninnies.

And I like everything about the tub, although I haven't used that part much. I had a new water heater put in but it's still not enough to fill it up. They're supposed to come back and put a little booster thing or turn up the heat on it. Also, somebody needs to explain better to people that after taking a bath, the jet will come on by itself and blow out the pipe to keep water from sitting in the pipes.

My husband enjoyed it a lot too. It gives you a nice tingly feeling when you get out. It’s for arthritis. We both have some arthritis and I have fibromyalgia. Definitely, it's helpful. I've used the overhead shower, as well as the handheld. I had a problem with that the last time I used it in that it started leaking. The chrome pipe going up to the showerhead started leaking by the wall. So, I had to call in for a repair of that. I'm expecting a call from them this week.
We have a 40-gallon tank and when we asked the installers how much water it used, they said 60. The first couple of times I tried it, I was running out of hot water before it filled up. So, we turned our hot water heater up to the hottest setting, which we did not have set on before. It leaks down onto the floor from there, so we had to put a towel on the floor. There are also a couple of other small minor things that I was going to have them check for me.

But I have developed a problem with the shower when the showerhead popped up out of the blue and started leaking all over the place. I turned it off, put the showerhead back down the thing, and turned the knob to where I thought it would be the tightest. But that doesn't seem to do it because once I put the water on fully, it'll pop right back up again and water goes all over the place. I've called Safe Step twice. They said that someone would call me back within three days to schedule an appointment to come and look at it. That has not happened. They welcomed me to the family and all that, which is great PR, but it seemed like they got our money and now they're gonna ignore us. That's the feeling I'm getting.
Right now we're just confined to using the tub. Since I started using the tub every other day or so, it has helped with the issue of my legs aching. With the walk-in tub, it would just be high enough to get in and we sit her down. The guys who put the walk-in tub together said they were gonna do a thing but they never come back. The one who did most of the construction turned up so he was good. What happened was the light on my China closet doesn't come on anymore. It just flickers on and off all the time. It wasn't doing that until they put that thing by the tub. They had to go up in the attic to wire that some kind of way. That got me worried because I don't want my house to catch on fire with some kind of wire problem. I unplugged the whole thing and I hate that because it's my China closet.
I appreciate the owner that started Safe Step because of his mother. She had Alzheimer's and was somewhat sick. I'm in that boat too. I have a wife that has Alzheimer's and she's legally blind. I need her to get in a tub but I found out that if she gets too wet, it might cause an infection in her bottom part. I can't get her in the tub right now. I got to talk to the nurse and if she says it's all right then I'll put my wife in the tub during the weekend. I ain't gonna let anybody get in that tub but her. Not having the owner's manual, I turned the knob, not knowing what it was, and it blew the thing apart. It needs repair. There was no follow-up contact, just hit and run installation. Mistakes happen but when you pay that much money upfront for a product and no results that were said to be done didn't happen, it's ridiculous. I figured Safe Step would be a good thing for me because I have arthritis on my knees and in my shoulders. I like everything about it. It's a nice setup. The pillow that comes with it is very uncomfortable though. It's not a medical setup. Then, it is totally enclosed on one side. You got the walls and then you got the glass because of the shower. I think it should be enclosed all the way around because when you're in there taking a bath or a shower, you still got that cold air coming in from the rest of the room. But I had to put in a new water heater. The salesman said that what I had might or might not work and he really wouldn't give me a definitive answer. Safe Step has got to be more upfront about it and they got to tell him. It turns out that you need a 70-gallon water heater for that tub and that was why I had to install a 75-gallon water heater. And that didn't come cheap. But when you spent $70,000 on the tub, the last thing you want to do is not be able to use it to your advantage because of not enough hot water.
Another thing is, during installation, the installer discovered once I pointed it out to him that they have a hot water mixing valve on the tub that they set and it tends to feed cold water back into your system. So, it was affecting the hot water on the rest of my house where my hot water wasn't very hot. And the plumber that installed the hot water heater for me had to put a check valve in to prevent that cold water from that mixing valve mixing with the rest of the water in the house. So, that's something that Safe Step needs to think about for a little bit of a design change.

The rep from Safe Step was very nice. He was very courteous and wore a mask. I didn't have to ask him to put it back on or to wear one. He automatically wore one. The people who came to install it was a different story. My husband is 90 years old, and so I asked them to wear a mask before they came in. Even though I put him in his room and shut the door, I still needed them to wear a mask while they were inside. One guy kept putting his mask down underneath his nose. I had to ask them about three times to put their mask back on. But they did an excellent job. They cleaned up after themselves. Everything was great.
As far as our walk-in tub, they told me that a 40-gallon hot water heater would do it, but it didn't. We had to buy another a larger hot water heater. We went to 55. We couldn't get a larger one in to where it had to go. The space inside there was big enough that the place where you put it in, it wouldn't go. Other than that, it has been a plus for me that I don't have as much trouble getting my husband to take a bath and getting him in and out.

We’ve really been enjoying our Safe Step. The installation went great. It was installed January 6th. It took three days. I had tiles around our old tub so that took a while to get down, but I expected a lot more mess. The installers were extremely neat. There was very little dirt, and the product looks great. I love the water jets. I also love the showerhead.

I am not enjoying the Safe Step walk-in tub at all. It has been a nightmare from the day that it was first installed because the guys brought it and the drain was wrong, and they had to take it back. Then, I had a choice to either cancel the order, which I wish I had done, or wait two weeks and get $250 off. My son was here and talked me into keeping it. So, I kept calling to find out whether I was getting it in two weeks. There was a little delay but that was fine. It was finally put in and the electrician made a hole in the wrong place but he fixed it.
I got no manual when the guys left and I had about two minutes of instruction. There were five people standing in my bathroom with masks. So I couldn't understand very much. They told me to leave the tub full because they were coming to inspect the following day, which was a Friday, January 29th. I waited all day and nobody showed up. I called the company as well as my salesman and I got no response. I called city hall and they didn't even work on Fridays. So I called and left messages on Saturday. On Monday morning, I called the town hall. Not only was I not getting it on Monday, I was not even on the list. They gave me the name of Safe Step’s contractor and I called and left a message. Nobody called me until the following day when they were ready. I called again to town hall and got the approval for a Wednesday inspection.
It was inspected on Wednesday and on Thursday, I went into the tub and used the shower trying to clean it. Now, my bathroom is flooded. I am 89 years old and picking up all that water. I tried again the next day and I got the same big flood. I was thinking something was wrong with me. I called the project manager and I said that somebody has got to come to this house and show me what's wrong. One person at the company, Lisa, sent the manual by UPS, so I got that. When the guy came to show me what some of the knobs were for, because I couldn't understand the manual, it was not me that was responsible. There was something wrong with the door handle and that was what was causing the flooding. So he fixed that.
Over the weekend, I tried the hand shower. I got in and now, I cannot get the water. Even if I put the temperature on one or two, it does not go beyond. It was just lukewarm, which is not good enough for a shower or a bath. I called Linda because something was not installed properly. I get hot water out of my sink and I cannot get it on here. So this morning, she was trying to contact the guy to come back here and see what’s wrong with this miserable thing that I bought. The salesman asked me about all kinds of illnesses, which I don't have, but when I read the manual, it says that if I have high blood pressure, call my doctor. I don't even want to know what my pressure was these past few weeks that I've been going through with this awful thing. Safe Step offered me $500 to recommend someone but I wouldn't do it for 5,000. I don't want anyone else, especially a senior citizen to suffer what I have.

I liked the price, too, and I felt a little more comfortable with them than the others. The sales rep made an excellent representation and the installers were very professional. They handled their business and the cleanup was perfect. They showed me how everything worked and went over everything with me. So, I was very pleased. I also like the safety feature for my elderly mom, where she didn’t have to do a lot of stepping up, and the safety features that are involved in the overall tub system. She still has to get used to sitting in the jacuzzi but she loves it.

The Safe Step representative was a very nice salesman. In November, he said that if we signed the contract, it'd be three to four weeks to finish. Four weeks later, nobody called us so I called them. They said that they would have someone call us within the day. We got an appointment for December 31st. That was New Year's eve and we got a call that morning that they couldn't get a crew together. They never showed up.
When we called Safe Step back, they set up an appointment on approximately the 10th and they came out and installed it with no problem. They were very nice. The power drain part was not working quite right, so we had to call them and have them come out and fix that, which they had done. But now, they still have to have the guy come out and fix the hole by moving the glass partition. They haven't called us to reschedule that one. But they have a temporary patch on it, so it's no problem for now.
The walk-in tub is small and confining, even with the shower. Safe Step didn't have stores. So it's all online and through pictures. They gave us the dimensions, but it didn't make sense when we were listening to it and we couldn't actually see it. So sometimes it is better to go and actually look at one and I wish we have done that. We would've bought the bigger ones and it would have been a lot better for my husband. Other than that, we're still happy with it. It does what it says. We use the jets and the lights are silly but I really like them. It just changes to different colors. I love to take a bath and it somehow relaxes me a little bit.

I liked having someone that was able to come out to tell me about Safe Step as I'm not able to move around lots. The young lady was well-versed in what the product was about and what it could do. I went to a couple of stores like Home Depot and Lowe's, and they didn't have the tub. They would have to order them and they would be in in a couple of months. In the case of Safe Step, they would be able to get it done in a couple of days. The lady came out on a Sunday and they were able to install the tub the following Thursday. The only complaint I have about the tub is that when the hot water comes in and it gets the tub half full, it switches to warm water. I would like it to fill up with hot water all the way.

Safe Step's salesman showed me other tubs and the problems with those on video. He did an excellent job presenting their product and getting the measurements done. The installers who put it in were exactly like the salesman said. It took them about four and a half hours. They did an excellent job even though rain was pouring down when they came in. They cleaned up their mess. I didn't realize that a tub like the one I got was gonna be that expensive. But after I watched the installers put it in, I understand why it is. They didn't have to do any cutting to make it fit right with the measurements that the salesman had taken. Also, the financing of the tub was good. I have four people willing to come over and take a bath in it.

It took the major part of the day. But they were done in a day. When they left, they left everything the way that it should have been left, clean and perfect.
Safe Step has two sizes. I went with the bigger size in case I have family or friends that come over to my home and want to stay. This way it makes it more available to them. Consider all the options that Safe Step offers you. I went for everything because you already put in the money into it. I got the additional shower, which I love. And do your homework because there is only so much you think you are going to need now and later. Also, make sure your hot water heater is up to the temperature that you want it because I saw it took a little while to fill. Because it is a lot of water going in there, because I have the biggest tub. But it will definitely be well worth it.

I turned around and I’ve seen the ad and all the magazines that I get I've seen the ads in there and I said, "I'm gonna call." I called and I got a very receptive on the call in. Safe Step was quick to respond and came up with some pricing. And I liked it. It's expensive, but you can look at the quality of the work, it pays for itself. You don't buy a pig in a poke.
Those two guys came in here at 9 o'clock in the morning, and they were out of here by 1 o'clock in the afternoon. Fantastic. They had to tear out the tub, put down a power to that side of the tub, plumbing and everything. And they brought this thing in. It was done fast. I called Safe Step and I said, "If all your installers are like this, you guys definitely have ace material." They were fantastic.
There are so many things I like about the tub. I'm a diabetic, and I've got issues with my feet and my legs. I can sit in there for half an hour, and my legs feel like rubber when I come out. It's so beautiful. I feel relaxed when I take it before I go to bed. And I'm eyeball slammed shut. I'm out like a light. I'm more than happy with the tub. I would recommend it. My daughter said, "Do you know how much that costs?" I said, "Don't tell me how much it cost. I know how much it cost." She said, “You could have bought a stand-up shower for that.” If I wanted a stand-up shower, I would have bought one. I want to sit down. I'm more than happy with the work.

They finally came back here on December and installed the existing one. I'm slightly disappointed because it's the smallest they make and you're crowded in there. I'd recommend Safe Step. But if I had to do it again, I would put the tub in another bathroom where I could get a longer unit that I could get down under the water in.

And I figured your body probably takes eight gallons away. It fills halfway up. It's all hot water. The salesman recommended a tank booster. I went out and bought it. That helps for the showers and the other bathtub, but not for the Safeway tub. I priced out a new hot water tank, but we're talking $1,700 for an 80-gallon. I called to ask the installer what is the next thing that people do. Do they put an instant hot in, a tankless? Or are they putting another heater to the system in the tub itself? He never called me back. But everything else works good. I like the micro cleaning. Also, the quality seems to be good. It drains within two minutes, which is fast.

Come to find out, after they finished and nailed it all back up, they finished it but I noticed that they had cut down the wall by each side frame and across the top. And then, down the other wall. They found out that it wouldn’t work when they got the tub up there. And I found a big gash in my wall. It’s very obvious. It’s a hole in my wall and around my doorframe. It came with a spacer on one side but I didn’t have a spacer for the other side so I had to put that up against the wall. It made it close on that side. Also, I put the tub on a three quarter-inch supply line so it would fill up faster. But it's such a big tub. It’s a lot of water. I got a 80-gallon hot water heater which couldn't keep up with it. If you're going to be in the tub, make sure you bring your phone with you because if it rings and it's 20 feet away, you're not going to get out of the tub fast enough. But other than that, I have no problems with it. I did have a manufacturer imperfection and I called them on it, and I was gonna take a photograph of it and send it to them. I never got the chance. It's kind of scary at first because there are so many things to it. But it works fine. We take showers during the week. We had that installed a couple of weeks or so. Then I called Safe Step in Chesapeake and asked the lady who answered the phone to send a representative out. She said that they would have somebody at our house at two o'clock in the afternoon and then I asked her if that rep could tell me and my wife what the Safe Step tub would cost us completely. She confirmed that we would know the price before that rep would leave our house. So I got involved with Safe Step.
The gentleman from Chesapeake came over here. His name is Keith. He did what he had to do. He said that they were not here to take all of our money for a downpayment. If we decided to have this tub installed, all he wanted was a $2,000 down payment. I wrote him a check and everything was fine. He then said that someone would contact me. It would probably be four or five weeks. That's because they are in Nashville Tennessee and we’re in Smithfield, Virginia, which is about 750 miles away. But the installer was from here around the local area.
The installer from Richmond, Virginia sent out the tub the day he promised that they were coming. They came and they brought the Safe Step tub in the house, set it on the living room, and asked for the person that was going to be using the tub to try and get into it. My wife cannot walk without being on a rolling walker. But the tub that was sent out here had a door that would open to the inside. So my wife tried to step in there. When you step in with the door open on the side, you have to step around the door, and then close the door, which could be a hazard for my wife.
The installer said that he was taking this tub back to the Richmond Area and he would be back here next Tuesday with a different type of Safe Step tub. Then he showed up at my door, brought the new tub in, and did the same thing. What he brought in was one that opened to the right. All that my wife had to do when she was on the outside of the tub was to open the door, go in there, sit down, and close the door with no problem. The installer had her sit in there. Then they installed that tub in about six and a half hours. The installer is the first contractor I ever had in my house that has really protected my house and we are completely satisfied with the Safe Step walk-in tub. A daughter gave my husband Guideposts for Christmas and in that magazine was an advertisement for Safe Step. We now have a Safe Step tub and are very pleased with it. The installer was very kind, gracious and showed us the features when it was installed.
We liked that the walk-in bath shouldn’t leak although the first time we used it, it leaked out the door. We maybe splashed over the door. We had water run through the wall into our bedroom and that wasn't fun. But it was not the manufacturer's or the installer's fault. It was ours. The oxygen was a high selling point for us. My husband and I both have physical problems. He was the first one to take a bath and his fingernails were clean. For a man who works on the farm, that's wonderful. The shower is in the tub so it doesn’t run. The details that the founder has put into it are very worthwhile and pleasing. We talk a lot about it to our friends. We can't seem to get the personal hygiene valve to function though. It works because the guy showed us. We aren't familiar yet with all of the gadgets to turn and so forth, so it's probably our fault.
We have a cover over some of the screws that popped off in the door and the door handle but we consider that a blessing too. The assistant had to saw off a little bit on something and he went out. I said that I wish I would've asked for a small piece that we could take because we had a low old-fashioned stool and sink in there as well as the bathtub. So, we wanted to get the stool and the sink replaced. When the screws popped off, we just said okay. We have a piece for color matching because different companies do different white.
We now have a new stool in there that matches the color, the nice white, and are working on getting a sink replaced also. We would want to have someone come from the company come when we're done with that little chip off there that knows exactly how to replace it. My husband thinks he can glue it back on but we want it done by the professional that knows exactly what to use. Anyway, we're very happy with the walk-in bath.

I knew someone that had gotten the Safe Step a little early last year. I also did a little research and I figured it was the better tub. I’ve been looking at them for a couple of years. I got myself the tub and the installation team was a little bit rough. Despite that, we're satisfied. I got in the tub a few times and so far, I like it. It's nice. The only thing is it takes a lot of hot water. That aside, the tub was a good investment. It relaxes you if wanna get in there on the little bad days. It gives you a little lift.

I had seen Safe Step walk-in tubs and wanted one. The sales reps and installers were very good. The installers told me what they were doing when they were doing it. Using the tub, I feel a little bit better with my aches and pains. I like the jets. I also like the comfort of being able to get in and not falling.

Safe Step was the best thing, which was why I went with them. I liked that they came and finished it all in one day. They arrived early and left late. They did an excellent job. Everybody needs to know upfront though how much this thing is gonna cost. Because there's a whole lot of people that need it that will never get it because of that.

Updated on 02/23/2021: The first review I've ever done was 1/18/2021, and it was regarding what a mistake it was to purchase this tub for practical reasons. That review was written 5 days after calling for service on the tub, which would have made the call on 1/13/2021. 1/13/21 - original call for service. 1/18/21 - I called for status, and was told the contractor has 5 days, not including weekends. 1/26/21 - Still no return call, so I called again and was promised I'd get a call from the contractor. 1/28/21 - No call back, another promise.
2/3 or4/21 - Call from contractor who could only come on Sunday because he is so busy. 2/7/21 - Contractor came, determined the tub to be clean, motor died. He said he would order a new motor. 2/15/21 - Called for status, was told they didn't know if the motor had come in, and that the contractor would call and let me know. (side note - I told the service rep that I didn't know if she would actually do anything, but that I knew the contractor wouldn't call, and I'd be calling back in a week asking for status). 2/23/21 - Called for status, was told the motor arrived on 2/13/21 (2 days before previous call), that the contractor has 30 days, and that they would notify the contractor to call me.
I have received apologies and promises, but not service. It's worth it to note that they set up their timeline as they go. When I called on the 18th, that was the first I was told the contractor has 5 days, and when I called on the 23rd (today), it is the first I've heard they have 30 days. I am recommending to anyone looking to purchase one of these tubs to AVOID Safe Step, as their service is the worst I have ever encountered (Worse even that Verizon service), and to read my review from 1/18/21 to see some of the things they don't tell you when they are selling it to you. I paid for the lifetime service, but the only thing the service department can do is send emails and call the contracting agents. They keep unreliable contractors because they really don't care much, after you've paid for the tub, what you go through to use it.
Original Review: I have never reviewed a company before, good or bad experience, but this time, I feel I must. Spending close to 18 grand on this tub was a big mistake on my part. I have a degenerative condition which causes me pain 24/7, and I thought this would help, and it does, but it's not worth the cost.
1. They tell you a 40 gallon tank is enough hot water, but it isn't, even with a brand new tank. Add 2 grand to the cost of the tub.2. They don't tell you that you sit in the cold while the tub is filling.
3. They don't tell you that if you have long legs, you have to contort your body in order to close the door.
4. If you have any problems, like the plug not closing tightly, the remote not working, or one of the features not working (in my case, the microbubbles), before you get off the phone with them, the first thing they do is expect you to fix the problem, then explain why the problem is your fault and will cost you to fix it.
This tub is probably great in a hospital, nursing home, etc., where there is staff to assist, and rooms can be heated prior to using the tub. I don't recommend it for private homes, or for elderly people living alone, and don't expect support. As stated before, they have a whole litany of reasons why anything that goes wrong is the customer's fault. When the tub was installed, they told me to use alcohol to clean the rubber around the door, which I do. They told me to throw a couple dishwasher squares in once a month to clean it, which I do, even though I've only been able to use it as a tub in the last month because I had to save for a new hot water tank. (The tub was installed in April 2019.)
When I called about the microbubbles, I was told that if there's a clog in the tube, it's my fault, because I don't use powdered dishwasher detergent. Interestingly, she had time to tell me that, but when I didn't hear from anyone after a week and called them back, I was told that the repair service has 5 days, not including weekends, to respond. That shows where their priorities are. I'm glad it's made in the USA, but that doesn't make up for the inconveniences caused by purchasing the tub.
Added note.. In order to submit this review, they want you to upload a receipt of purchase in order to verify you as a buyer, yet when you call them, they only ask for a phone number, which is part of this review, in order to verify that. I'm not uploading anything. They have my phone number. That's all they need. We'll see if this review gets published.

Safe Step did a good job. The sales rep was very accommodating and very nice. I am happy with the tub. The massage on the legs is the best part for me. However, it takes a long time to fill up which is annoying. I think we need to increase the water pressure.

The sales representative was very thorough. He went into the bathroom and took pictures. He told us how everything will be put in place, and how the workman will be very neat and clean and leave everything the way they found it. The installers were very friendly. They told me that they had to widen the door in the bathroom to get the tub in there, so they had to take down part of the frame. They told me everything would be put back in place and look like the way it was before, which was true, except I had to do a little touch-up painting. But otherwise, it was fine. They showed us how the tub worked. It also has a Jacuzzi, which has always been fun. The tub is easy to get into. It's also easy to take a bath or a shower in it. It's very relaxing when you use the Jacuzzi.

I originally suggested with my wife that if we were going to be in the market for a tub like Safe Step's, we should get at least four competitive bids. But there were some features that she perceived to be one-of-a-kind so she insisted on Safe Step instead of examining the other possibilities. At the time we got the tub, the salesman, Lenny, was personable and professional.
The installation looked very appealing. It was a sparkling and beautiful job done by Rudy. He was a very good guy. Under the hood, however, there were some troubles with the installation. My wife was trying to take a bath after Rudy left and all of a sudden, everything turned off in the tub. We thought it was some sort of timer circuit that we weren't aware of but that wasn’t the case. She got out of there and we started messing around with the controls and managed to find a way to turn it off and turn it back on a few times. Once we did turn it back on, it ran for a moment then it sputtered and died. We could not get any power happening with it any further.
We got in touch with the company and told them there were technical issues. Rudy called back and I explained the situation to him. He came out and determined that the tub was installed next to or against an electrical connection from my supply line, down the wall into a box right where the tub was supposed to go there, so my electric power supply to the tub is and was solid. Rudy deduced that he had failed to connect to my power supply. An open circuit occurred between what was in my wall where he attached the device that he used to attach to my electrical wires and run that device to the tub and the tub. Unless I wanted an extension cord coming out of the access panel which would be unsightly and not professional-looking, in order to fix that, he will have to uninstall the tub, reestablish and verify the electrical connection then reinstall the tub.
The problem with that situation didn't stop with the quality of the installation. While my wife was taking her bath and after I took my own, we both realized that it was too small. The tub has to be uninstalled, reconnected and reinstalled, but we're still left with a tub that we feel is too small for us which is a reflection on Lenny's part. We called him and he got back in touch with us within a couple days. He asked, “Did you know that we have larger tubs?” I told him I did not know that.
At this point, we are so nonplussed with our experience and not satisfied with the strength of the water jets. Everything seemed weak and kind of wimpy. Maybe for somebody in their 90s, it would probably have plenty of gusto. But we're not in that age group yet and we were expecting better performance from the tub itself and what is possible with it. I used to be in sales and it was my responsibility to spec stuff out. It would not be the customer’s fault to fail to ask questions. It would be the salesman making sure that his responsibility to educate the customer and ask the appropriate questions in order to close the sale is done.
When Lenny was here, we did not know there were multiple sizes of tubs. We were totally ignorant and Lenny never mentioned measuring to assure the proper size. So, now, we're freaking out. We borrowed $12,600 and paid $2,000 down on this tub. We should have done it with a MasterCard or a Visa instead of a personal check because we are anticipating a refund of the $2,000 subsequent to whenever they get back out here to uninstall the tub.
There was a company that Safe Step works with called GreenSky. They are co-writers of home improvement loans. In this particular case, it was Fifth Third Bank. I called GreenSky while I was waiting for a return call from Lenny. I got in touch with this guy named Ben. I told him everything and that we don't want the product. He said that was simple enough. He also said that probably, the line of credit was issued but has not been tapped into yet. In other words, we had not spent the money that had been authorized. GreenSky went ahead on my behalf and blocked the account. No one can access that money now which is great. If I'm out any money, I'm out 2,000 instead of 14,600.
I've had one conversation with Lenny subsequent to the call he made to me about two days after I launched my initial complaint. I've only spoken to him, since the sale, twice. The second time I spoke with him was eight days ago. He said he was on it and he was working with Rudy. At that point, I was trusting of Lenny. He was calling me back or answering his phone. Then, a week went by and I was calling him but I was not getting any return calls from him no matter how many texts or voicemail messages I left. I never used any expletives in my voicemails or texts. I kept it professional and aboveboard.
While I was driving down the highway, Lenny dialed me by accident. I called him right back and his voice answering machine said, “The number you called is not available.” I never got a call back from him. Yesterday, I called and spoke to Lisa and another young lady. She was very good. I told her I was not hearing back from Lenny and I would like to go ahead and communicate with Lenny’s immediate supervisor. She put in an email to Lenny's boss and said that I can expect to hear from Lenny’s boss within 48 hours.
At this point, I don't think Lenny or his boss know that the financing got approved, but they never got paid for that tub. I don't understand how that tub could have shipped to the installer without payment. $2,000 down doesn't pay for the tub but I don't think the tub was even worth $2,000. I want it out of here. I really do want my money back. I know I can find something for two grand to put in there. I'm not interested in giving them another chance to screw up my life. I perceive this company as having targeted elderly people who might be easier to impress with air bubbles and a weak water jet system. I had a walk-in tub before this tub. I bought it from South Korea and it was under 2,000 bucks. A carpenter installed it for me and I might have spent all of $2,500 putting the tub in including the work to install it. I can't even fathom what kind of tub could cost nearly $15,000.
It seems to me that in order for Safe Step to sell their product successfully, they're going to need to find a way to showcase their product and allow people to get into a tub and move around. The tub needs to be operational so that the customer can figure out whether the jets are gonna be powerful enough for them. Safe Step needs to figure out how to do that.

I knew there was gonna be a delay from the time I signed the contract with Safe Step until I got it fixed. They called me and told me when it was gonna be ready and installed, and I was okay with that. The day it was to be installed, I’d forgotten about it. At 10 o'clock in the morning, I heard somebody knock on the door. Two guys out there said, “We're from Safe Step two install your tub.” They were really nice guys. One was a fireman from Palatka, and the other guy was from Palatka too. They were very neat. They cleaned up. They had stuff right out the yard when they were installing it. They had the tub in the driveway. Then all around the driveway, it had all these boxes. They were pulling stuff out and putting the faucets on. They said they were gonna finish up around four o'clock.
We had some problems with the water cut off on the outside of the house, and I had to call in a plumber. They said that as long as he got here before 4 o'clock, they would be finished up. If he didn't, they'd have to come back Monday. But the plumber came out and fixed it long before they were ready to finish. They finished up right around 4 o'clock just like they said they would. So, I was really pleased.
My great granddaughter uses the tub more than anybody else. She knows how to operate it. She’s seven years old. She’s bright as can be. She absolutely loves it. She knows how to work everything. She loves the changing lights. My wife used the tub yesterday afternoon and she loved it. She didn’t want me to get it. She said I don’t need it. Now she says, it's one of the best investments ever made after my pool.
Kohler runs bigger ads than Safe Step does, but their price is better. Their equipment is probably equal to Kohler's. Safe Step finishes it off very nicely. I had one of those great, big tubs that we didn't have enough hot water. We got two hot water heaters and one is for our bathroom, and the rest is for the rest of the house. It’s only a 30-gallon tank, and it wasn't quite enough. So, I was gonna buy a booster and my son called. I'm talking to my other grandson. He was at Lowe's and he said, “Hey, I've got a water tank up here for 400 bucks, 50 gallons. You may wanna consider that rather than a booster.” So, we put the tank in Sunday, and it's more than adequate for the tub.
They said that the power drain makes some funny noise that lasts about a minute when the motor goes on to flush all the lines. It makes a buzzing noise. Our bathroom is right off our bedroom, only about 25 feet from our bed, and we can hear it when it goes off to drain after somebody uses it. The only time it goes off is after somebody has used the tub. But overall, we highly recommend it to anybody that would want one.

Safe Step wasn't cheap but it's still a better deal. The sales rep knew what he was talking about and he answered all our questions. The gentleman that installed it did the same thing. He told us everything he was gonna do and when he finished, he put us in a room and showed us how to work it. The fellows from the installation team left the place cleaner than it was. They were good guys. If I had a company, I'd like those guys working for me.
My experience with Safe Step was great. I like the shower end of it where I could sit and not have to worry about falling. I use the hose with the handle to shower and I get the job done quickly. I don't need any help at all and I feel safe in it. I use the hand shower a lot and maybe once a week, I fill the whole tub up and do that. I look forward to about 5 o'clock at night, open it up and do what I have to do and relax a little bit. I feel better using it and I'm very pleased with it. The people I showed it off to stopped by the house and thought it was an excellent nice piece of equipment. They liked the way it looked.

We have not been happy. It's the worst experience we've ever had. We have thousands of dollars of damage and we've had nothing but trouble from the first install that didn't happen. Their construction install people were never supposed to been in here in the first place but their install manager went behind our back and that's who he got in here. They did all this damage then partially assembled the tub because we wouldn't sign to say the stuff was done right. They left us with 10 days and there is no way to use the tub or shower.
The saleslady had a woman with her from New York who was the rudest person I've ever met. We find out now that the saleslady has lied to us several times too. She misrepresented the tub and the install contract. She said there shouldn't be any problem if the hot water isn't sufficient which evidently ours is not. I can't believe AARP who we belong to or anybody would recommend this company. We've been working with the finance company and they've been trying to get Safe Step to come in and take care of this stuff or refund the money and take the tub back for nearly a month now, but they've done nothing.

There was a gal from Safe Step who came out to the house and she was fantastic. She knew the things I didn't want to spend a whole lot of time on because I had already done my research online. I already knew I wanted to buy it and I just needed to know how much it was. But she still told me about it and ran through the features with me. If there were things that I wanted more information on, then she played to that. So, she was cognizant of what my interests were as far as hearing about it. She was very nice and accommodating. So, I appreciated that about her. She measured everything and I love that she informed me of what they were going to do and what it was going to take.
Installation crew-wise, there was a piece of it which was a kind of a velcro on the front, and it didn't come with it. Literally, the person who was at my house drove over the next day and brought me the piece. So, they were Johnny-on-the-spot, great guys, easy to talk to, easy to work with and wonderful people. I primarily got the tub for my mom. She doesn't live here, but she comes down and visits. I haven’t technically used it but I need to because it's cool.
It would be nice if the price came down some. It was nice to have the discounts available and I took advantage of all of those but it’s still very expensive. It's worth it but they would have a hard time selling them. But then, it’s not as hard to spend money when you know there's value in it. It’s a fantastic product and it is going to serve me very well. I love the hybrid feature because I have a lot of people that visit me and they don't all want to take a bath, which was why I went with Safe Step. The fact that they manufacture it, install it and service it is phenomenal.

It was getting to be a hassle stepping in and out of the bathtub. I figured a walk-in would be better. I liked that with the Safe Step, it's easy getting in and out. The installation went well. Everybody was courteous and nice and friendly. Most people like the rainbow shower. I like it, but to me, the showerhead is a little bit too large. Also, it takes the tub a long time to fill up. With a regular tub, you just turn the water on and step away for a few minutes and come back and you step in the tub. You can't do that with the step-in tub because you can't leave the door open. I read all the instructions about three times. They explained everything to me. Once a month, you should fill the tub up with warm water and wash it out.
