A friend of ours said that somebody in our community got a walk-in tub. So, we were thinking about getting one. We went over to their house, and they had a Safe Step. Then we went online and saw the ads by Pat Boone but we hadn't paid attention to him. It just goes in and out. But after seeing our friend with one, then we started paying more attention online, and did some more research, and decided that that was the one we wanted.

Darla was awesome. She presented all the different things. She explained everything to us. I must have asked her a million questions and she answered them all satisfactorily to us. She told us that we would probably have to hire a handyman because they try and make everything right. But they don't have certain specialties. They don't do tiles. But the installers put it in perfectly. So, we don't need to call the guy to do the tile. It looks like it was made in the house when the house was built.

What happens now is I fill the tub up to 80%, and then the tub runs out of hot water. I have to wait for 15 minutes, and then I can continue all the way. If we had a larger water heater, then I wouldn't have to wait. Hot water heaters, especially in the desert, only lasts for so long. So, when ours gets bad, I'll get a larger one and everything will be perfect.

The product is awesome. It has everything we like. I like the aromatherapy and the bubbles. They can either be water, air, or micro. They make your skin feel smooth. When you put the microbubbles in there, I could stay there for a month if I had to. I'll be 68 in a week and I have a bad back. It helps my back and it makes me feel good. I also like the heated seat, and I love the shower. I wish the tub had a heater in it. But that's something that can wear out also. So, this one will last. It has lifetime warranty on it. I intend to use it until I can no longer use it. If they could put a water heater in it that would last a long time, I'd be happy with that. But other than that, it's perfect. The price is a little high, but you always pay for what you get. This tub is higher than most. But it's better than all.

The Safe Step rep was a nice man. We mainly got the tub for my mother, so she can sit and relax. It's hard for her to bend over with her legs swelled up because she's older. She could sit in there, and it's like a miniature Jacuzzi. She enjoys it. She's in there every night. She has seen improvements in her health.

Three guys came for the installation and they were nice young men. They worked hard and got it done. I like being able to relax in the Safe Step tub when my back starts hurting, especially my lower back. I broke my heel bone a couple of years ago and I’d soak it. With the water jets on, it feels better.

I can't get my wife to get into the tub often enough. The installer called about two weeks ago. He needed to do a follow-up and we scheduled it for a Monday, and then it was Friday morning, then later Friday we found out that my wife had a Monday appointment for a CAT scan. I managed to get him stalled before he came 120 miles from Phoenix down here. But I haven't heard back from him since to reschedule.

A family member told me how they enjoyed their Safe Step walk-in tub and I got one for my mother. The reps were very professional and knowledgeable of the product. I commended the installers for a job well done, and the timing and how they cleaned behind themselves, because they got a pile of dust that was produced from tearing up the old tub and that wall. Very good workers. I appreciate them. I referred them a couple of my church members and friends.

I am concerned about the door, and I've found three little chipped pieces of glass that are coming off. I don't know how where it came from. But I see a couple of pieces chipped off that little bar across the bottom that seals it when you close it. I also noticed that it's hard to close. But other than that, from just listening to Barbara and Bill tell me about theirs, until we were able to really use the tub, it was breathtaking. I have to limit my mother's time in it because she is not supposed to be in the water for baths no more than a couple of times a week due to her age. And then, we don't want to become dehydrated so we get in and then get out in a timely manner, but it is beyond what we ever would have imagined. I love the water jets. They’re warm and intense.

I called Safe Step because they were having a $1,500 off and I ended up going with them. The install guys were laid back, very nice, and friendly. But I was a little disappointed with the installation because I had heard that because of the COVID, that they went over every little piece of everything and everything was gonna be spotless and clean when they finished. But they finished with a full tub of water and when I let the water out, it was nothing but guck in the bottom of it from where it came from and we had to clean it all up. It wasn't wiped off and cleaned and all. We had to clean all the sides of it and the bottom. Around my floor was not clean. It looked like they were in a hurry and they had to get to somewhere or it was late.

We didn't realize that the walk-in tub was gonna take so much water and we only got a 15-gallon tank of heater. So, to fill it up, we have to put so much water in it and then wait for it a little while. We have to get a bigger water heater to enjoy it. We really didn't know that and they didn't express that to us. But we plan on getting a bigger heater eventually because I think it's gonna really be good. We really do enjoy the water, different cycles on it, because I've got rheumatoid arthritis and lots of other factors and I can see where different things do help.

The rep from Safe Step was informative and very good. The installation team did a good job although we had a problem afterwards. But it was right after the freeze and so, it wasn’t with the tub nor the installation. It came from a pipe that had frozen up and it was on our end. But because of that, we didn’t know so we had a guy come out from Safe Step and look at it. He had to come out here anyway and take a picture because the installers forgot to take a picture of the serial number so it worked out well. I use the MicroSoothe feature and the only thing with the tub is, it’s so large. But it’s no big deal. We were pleased with our experience with Safe Step.

Their salesman told me all the good things about it and everything sounded okay. The salesman is a great guy. He knows everything. Then the installers got here by 8:00 and they were done by 1:00. It has been a great job and I'm very satisfied. The walk-in tub is good to clean up your skin. I have bad skin from my kidney disease and it has helped me to get in there once a week.

Perfect example of LACK of Customer Service Skills. I ordered a Safestep walk in tub on 2/8/2021, after the deposit was paid the company called me and we scheduled a delivery date of 3/1/2021. The night before I received 2 delivery confirmation date for 3/1/2021 and they wanted to make sure someone was at home to receive it. I took off work in order to receive it.

3/1/2021 came and I receive a call from the installer that he received the wrong tub. I called the company and spoke to Michelle and James, who informed me that there is nothing on the contract that states they must honor the delivery date and that contractually they do not have to refund the deposit. The customer service is awful. The reason for the delay is that someone failed to provide a product code, my reply was that they had this order for 1.5 months and now they are telling me that no one noticed there wasn't a product code on this order, then they blamed it on the snow storm they had in Tennessee, my reply was that to a degree I could understand that, but then why was I called to confirm delivery versus someone calling, explaining the situation and requesting a possible reschedule.

They then tried to blame the installers for calling me before they had the item. I replied that the installer is not to blame and the March 1st date is the date agreed to with the company.. He then stated that they are not contractually obligated to honor the delivery date, my reply was "if you took the deposit and we agreed on a date, you are most definitely contractually obligated, this is considered a breach of contract on your side."

Bottom line is that Safestep walk in tub are only worried about their bottom line and have no concern nor respect for their customers. I believe that all who have been affected negatively by this company one way or the other should make their complaints go viral. They need to be reminded that the customers are their bread and butter. No customers, no paychecks.

The reason I ordered the tub is because I have an elderly grandparent that lives with me that suffers from dementia and have fallen out of our tub. We ordered it for her protection. I have filed complaints with the Attorney General's office and also the BBB. Mind you.... I took a day off from work to sit and wait on these ninnies.

The sales guy was very thorough and he made sure we went over everything the tub had to offer and the differences with the other tubs. Then, I was pleasantly surprised that the installers got here so fast and they were done so quickly. They fixed the plumbing and built a wall and I thought it would take longer. And I like everything about the tub, although I haven't used that part much. I had a new water heater put in but it's still not enough to fill it up. They're supposed to come back and put a little booster thing or turn up the heat on it. Also, somebody needs to explain better to people that after taking a bath, the jet will come on by itself and blow out the pipe to keep water from sitting in the pipes.

I've had a problem with my legs and one of them's worse than the other. I had to try to go to the tub, which was hard to do, but I do it. It was hard. I told Bernie one day, “It's hard to get into the tub now.” He went right to Safe Step. We had somebody over here, and he liked what he heard so he decided to go ahead and get it for me. I was here when everything was going on with the installation. The installers were very good and very nice people. As far as the walk-in tub, I like sitting down. You can sit down on that little seat and do your scrubbing and then you can take your hose and rinse off. I've liked it. I probably weigh 153 and I have to really move myself around to get in. If the door could have been wider, it would have been better. But other than that, so far, so good.

I liked that Safe Step is American-made, that it was warrantied for life and that the parts were made in the factory and were custom-built to me as opposed to off-the-shelf. The rep that came out was fabulous and he definitely sold me on it. The installers were here at 7:00 and they left before they even said they were gonna be done. I was amazed. They were able to take the old Bath Fitter and cast iron tub out. They left everything as clean as it was when they arrived. They were very professional. I felt great. I recommend it to everyone because I was very impressed with the whole process. I love how the tub fits into that space. It fits right in with the decor too. Safe Step is the only one that has the shower available with the tub. I also like that it was manufactured here in the USA. We were impressed by the quality of the product. The rep was great too. The installation team was great also. They did the job. They cleaned up after they got done. Very personable. We liked all of them. I like having the jets and also, the micro smooth bubble thing. My husband enjoyed it a lot too. It gives you a nice tingly feeling when you get out. It’s for arthritis. We both have some arthritis and I have fibromyalgia. Definitely, it's helpful. I've used the overhead shower, as well as the handheld. I had a problem with that the last time I used it in that it started leaking. The chrome pipe going up to the showerhead started leaking by the wall. So, I had to call in for a repair of that. I'm expecting a call from them this week.

We have a 40-gallon tank and when we asked the installers how much water it used, they said 60. The first couple of times I tried it, I was running out of hot water before it filled up. So, we turned our hot water heater up to the hottest setting, which we did not have set on before. With it, at the hottest setting, when we're using the tub, we can get enough hot water in to cover the jets so that we can use them and not run out of hot water.

The sales rep was very good. Installation went well too. They did it all in one day. However, what I most dislike about the tub is the fact that I can't use it. There's a part of it that was missing and I called Safe Step about it over a month ago. One lady called me back in two days and said to describe what it is and I told her. "Okay, someone will be contact you." Another day or two, some other lady contacted me on the phone and I described everything to her. I ain't heard a word from anybody since. I'm very dissatisfied.

We got the rain shower too. When I went to use it, that thing shot all the way up to the ceiling. There's a piece on there that has a hole in it, like it should have had a handle and I don't know if that's the problem. I was going to call today try to find out what the heck's going on and I know they'll blame it on the last week of all the snow, but this should have been taken care of way before then. Everything worked fine up until this thing broke and I can't get anybody out here to help to fix it.

The only thing that I'm kind of disappointed with Safe Step right now is that we have a couple of issues that we called about getting addressed. We had glass doors put in and where the glass door comes down, there's a little bit of a gap underneath that probably wasn't caulked on. It leaks down onto the floor from there, so we had to put a towel on the floor. There are also a couple of other small minor things that I was going to have them check for me.

I called on February 2nd to have them come out and I was told somebody would call me in a couple of days to schedule a time but I didn't hear from them. I've had to call four or five times to finally get somebody on the phone to schedule a date for them to come out. I'm most aggravated about the fact that they say they would have somebody call and then I don't hear from anybody. They need to be better at communication. Other than that, my husband loves all of the features of the tub. It's extremely helpful to have it for safety purposes and I really like that.

The installers did an outstanding job as far as putting in the Safe Step tub. But I have developed a problem with the shower when the showerhead popped up out of the blue and started leaking all over the place. I turned it off, put the showerhead back down the thing, and turned the knob to where I thought it would be the tightest. But that doesn't seem to do it because once I put the water on fully, it'll pop right back up again and water goes all over the place. I've called Safe Step twice. They said that someone would call me back within three days to schedule an appointment to come and look at it. That has not happened. They welcomed me to the family and all that, which is great PR, but it seemed like they got our money and now they're gonna ignore us. That's the feeling I'm getting.

Right now we're just confined to using the tub. Since I started using the tub every other day or so, it has helped with the issue of my legs aching. Also, my wife likes to lay in there and let the bubbles on her back, the Jacuzzi effect. I would recommend the tub to somebody that has these little aches and pains that one gets over the years.

I wanted to check out Safe Step. A guy came here and he was very good. I got a walk-in tub for the wife because of her condition. We had a jacuzzi and the steps were too high. She can't step up. With the walk-in tub, it would just be high enough to get in and we sit her down. The guys who put the walk-in tub together said they were gonna do a thing but they never come back. The one who did most of the construction turned up so he was good. What happened was the light on my China closet doesn't come on anymore. It just flickers on and off all the time. It wasn't doing that until they put that thing by the tub. They had to go up in the attic to wire that some kind of way. That got me worried because I don't want my house to catch on fire with some kind of wire problem. I unplugged the whole thing and I hate that because it's my China closet.

I appreciate the owner that started Safe Step because of his mother. She had Alzheimer's and was somewhat sick. I'm in that boat too. I have a wife that has Alzheimer's and she's legally blind. I need her to get in a tub but I found out that if she gets too wet, it might cause an infection in her bottom part. I can't get her in the tub right now. I got to talk to the nurse and if she says it's all right then I'll put my wife in the tub during the weekend. I ain't gonna let anybody get in that tub but her. Safe Step allowed me to further my dream of helping my wife even better. It shows they have a heart and that means a lot to some people. They are not trying to get rich. Not having the owner's manual, I turned the knob, not knowing what it was, and it blew the thing apart. It needs repair. There was no follow-up contact, just hit and run installation. Mistakes happen but when you pay that much money upfront for a product and no results that were said to be done didn't happen, it's ridiculous. Safe Step's sales rep was pretty good. As he went through his little spiel, I, in the back of my mind, knew I was going to want the product and it was just pinching on the cost factor. When the tub was installed, the crew who came out were fantastic guys. They did a phenomenal job and I highly recommend that crew of a father, son, and a cousin. So far, I like the soaking capabilities of the tub and it's easy to get in and out of. It's a good product and I'm very pleased with it.

But I had to put in a new water heater. The salesman said that what I had might or might not work and he really wouldn't give me a definitive answer. Safe Step has got to be more upfront about it and they got to tell him. It turns out that you need a 70-gallon water heater for that tub and that was why I had to install a 75-gallon water heater. And that didn't come cheap. But when you spent $70,000 on the tub, the last thing you want to do is not be able to use it to your advantage because of not enough hot water.

Another thing is, during installation, the installer discovered once I pointed it out to him that they have a hot water mixing valve on the tub that they set and it tends to feed cold water back into your system. So, it was affecting the hot water on the rest of my house where my hot water wasn't very hot. And the plumber that installed the hot water heater for me had to put a check valve in to prevent that cold water from that mixing valve mixing with the rest of the water in the house. So, that's something that Safe Step needs to think about for a little bit of a design change.

My shower blew out the other day, they gotta come back and fix my shower. I'm not happy with what it's doing. For the amount of money that I paid for it, I think it's a little high. When I buy something and I'm not happy with it, I'll let people know about it because it's the only way you're going to fix things. Some people don't do that.

I figured Safe Step would be a good thing for me because I have arthritis on my knees and in my shoulders. I like everything about it. It's a nice setup. The pillow that comes with it is very uncomfortable though. It's not a medical setup. Then, it is totally enclosed on one side. You got the walls and then you got the glass because of the shower. I think it should be enclosed all the way around because when you're in there taking a bath or a shower, you still got that cold air coming in from the rest of the room. Other than those, if somebody asked me about Safe Step, I'll recommend if they want to get one because for the arthritis part, it's a good thing.

We’ve really been enjoying our Safe Step. The installation went great. It was installed January 6th. It took three days. I had tiles around our old tub so that took a while to get down, but I expected a lot more mess. The installers were extremely neat. There was very little dirt, and the product looks great. I love the water jets. I also love the showerhead.

The rep from Safe Step was very nice. He was very courteous and wore a mask. I didn't have to ask him to put it back on or to wear one. He automatically wore one. The people who came to install it was a different story. My husband is 90 years old, and so I asked them to wear a mask before they came in. Even though I put him in his room and shut the door, I still needed them to wear a mask while they were inside. One guy kept putting his mask down underneath his nose. I had to ask them about three times to put their mask back on. But they did an excellent job. They cleaned up after themselves. Everything was great.

As far as our walk-in tub, they told me that a 40-gallon hot water heater would do it, but it didn't. We had to buy another a larger hot water heater. We went to 55. We couldn't get a larger one in to where it had to go. The space inside there was big enough that the place where you put it in, it wouldn't go. Other than that, it has been a plus for me that I don't have as much trouble getting my husband to take a bath and getting him in and out.

I am not enjoying the Safe Step walk-in tub at all. It has been a nightmare from the day that it was first installed because the guys brought it and the drain was wrong, and they had to take it back. Then, I had a choice to either cancel the order, which I wish I had done, or wait two weeks and get $250 off. My son was here and talked me into keeping it. So, I kept calling to find out whether I was getting it in two weeks. There was a little delay but that was fine. It was finally put in and the electrician made a hole in the wrong place but he fixed it.

I got no manual when the guys left and I had about two minutes of instruction. There were five people standing in my bathroom with masks. So I couldn't understand very much. They told me to leave the tub full because they were coming to inspect the following day, which was a Friday, January 29th. I waited all day and nobody showed up. I called the company as well as my salesman and I got no response. I called city hall and they didn't even work on Fridays. So I called and left messages on Saturday. On Monday morning, I called the town hall. Not only was I not getting it on Monday, I was not even on the list. They gave me the name of Safe Step’s contractor and I called and left a message. Nobody called me until the following day when they were ready. I called again to town hall and got the approval for a Wednesday inspection.

It was inspected on Wednesday and on Thursday, I went into the tub and used the shower trying to clean it. Now, my bathroom is flooded. I am 89 years old and picking up all that water. I tried again the next day and I got the same big flood. I was thinking something was wrong with me. I called the project manager and I said that somebody has got to come to this house and show me what's wrong. One person at the company, Lisa, sent the manual by UPS, so I got that. When the guy came to show me what some of the knobs were for, because I couldn't understand the manual, it was not me that was responsible. There was something wrong with the door handle and that was what was causing the flooding. So he fixed that.

Over the weekend, I tried the hand shower. I got in and now, I cannot get the water. Even if I put the temperature on one or two, it does not go beyond. It was just lukewarm, which is not good enough for a shower or a bath. I called Linda because something was not installed properly. I get hot water out of my sink and I cannot get it on here. So this morning, she was trying to contact the guy to come back here and see what’s wrong with this miserable thing that I bought. The salesman asked me about all kinds of illnesses, which I don't have, but when I read the manual, it says that if I have high blood pressure, call my doctor. I don't even want to know what my pressure was these past few weeks that I've been going through with this awful thing. Safe Step offered me $500 to recommend someone but I wouldn't do it for 5,000. I don't want anyone else, especially a senior citizen to suffer what I have.

They handled their business and the cleanup was perfect. They showed me how everything worked and went over everything with me. So, I was very pleased. I also like the safety feature for my elderly mom, where she didn’t have to do a lot of stepping up, and the safety features that are involved in the overall tub system. She still has to get used to sitting in the jacuzzi but she loves it.

The Safe Step representative was a very nice salesman. In November, he said that if we signed the contract, it'd be three to four weeks to finish. Four weeks later, nobody called us so I called them. They said that they would have someone call us within the day. We got an appointment for December 31st. That was New Year's eve and we got a call that morning that they couldn't get a crew together. They never showed up.

When we called Safe Step back, they set up an appointment on approximately the 10th and they came out and installed it with no problem. They were very nice. The power drain part was not working quite right, so we had to call them and have them come out and fix that, which they had done. But now, they still have to have the guy come out and fix the hole by moving the glass partition. They haven't called us to reschedule that one. But they have a temporary patch on it, so it's no problem for now.

The walk-in tub is small and confining, even with the shower. Safe Step didn't have stores. So it's all online and through pictures. They gave us the dimensions, but it didn't make sense when we were listening to it and we couldn't actually see it. So sometimes it is better to go and actually look at one and I wish we have done that. We would've bought the bigger ones and it would have been a lot better for my husband. Other than that, we're still happy with it. It does what it says. We use the jets and the lights are silly but I really like them. It just changes to different colors. I love to take a bath and it somehow relaxes me a little bit.

I went to a couple of stores like Home Depot and Lowe's, and they didn't have the tub. They would have to order them and they would be in in a couple of months. In the case of Safe Step, they would be able to get it done in a couple of days. The lady came out on a Sunday and they were able to install the tub the following Thursday. The only complaint I have about the tub is that when the hot water comes in and it gets the tub half full, it switches to warm water. I would like it to fill up with hot water all the way.

The installers who put it in were exactly like the salesman said. It took them about four and a half hours. They did an excellent job even though rain was pouring down when they came in. They cleaned up their mess. I didn't realize that a tub like the one I got was gonna be that expensive. But after I watched the installers put it in, I understand why it is. They didn't have to do any cutting to make it fit right with the measurements that the salesman had taken. Also, the financing of the tub was good. I have four people willing to come over and take a bath in it.

It took the major part of the day. But they were done in a day. When they left, they left everything the way that it should have been left, clean and perfect.

Safe Step has two sizes. I went with the bigger size in case I have family or friends that come over to my home and want to stay. This way it makes it more available to them. Consider all the options that Safe Step offers you. I went for everything because you already put in the money into it. I got the additional shower, which I love. And do your homework because there is only so much you think you are going to need now and later. Also, make sure your hot water heater is up to the temperature that you want it because I saw it took a little while to fill. Because it is a lot of water going in there, because I have the biggest tub. But it will definitely be well worth it.

I turned around and I’ve seen the ad and all the magazines that I get I've seen the ads in there and I said, "I'm gonna call." I called and I got a very receptive on the call in. Safe Step was quick to respond and came up with some pricing. And I liked it. It's expensive, but you can look at the quality of the work, it pays for itself. You don't buy a pig in a poke.

Those two guys came in here at 9 o'clock in the morning, and they were out of here by 1 o'clock in the afternoon. Fantastic. They had to tear out the tub, put down a power to that side of the tub, plumbing and everything. And they brought this thing in. It was done fast. I called Safe Step and I said, "If all your installers are like this, you guys definitely have ace material." They were fantastic.

There are so many things I like about the tub. I'm a diabetic, and I've got issues with my feet and my legs. I can sit in there for half an hour, and my legs feel like rubber when I come out. It's so beautiful. I feel relaxed when I take it before I go to bed. And I'm eyeball slammed shut. I'm out like a light. I'm more than happy with the tub. I would recommend it. My daughter said, "Do you know how much that costs?" I said, "Don't tell me how much it cost. I know how much it cost." She said, “You could have bought a stand-up shower for that.” If I wanted a stand-up shower, I would have bought one. I want to sit down. I'm more than happy with the work.

They finally came back here on December and installed the existing one. I'm slightly disappointed because it's the smallest they make and you're crowded in there. I'd recommend Safe Step. But if I had to do it again, I would put the tub in another bathroom where I could get a longer unit that I could get down under the water in.

Safe Step's installers were fantastic and professional. I've used the tub a couple of times, and I have to use the buttons on the side. The remote doesn't always work. Also, it takes 14 minutes to fill. I put a booster on my 40-gallon tank but it runs out of hot water. It's a 64-gallon Safeway tub. The large one. And I figured your body probably takes eight gallons away. It fills halfway up. It's all hot water. The salesman recommended a tank booster. I went out and bought it. That helps for the showers and the other bathtub, but not for the Safeway tub. I priced out a new hot water tank, but we're talking $1,700 for an 80-gallon. I called to ask the installer what is the next thing that people do. Do they put an instant hot in, a tankless? Or are they putting another heater to the system in the tub itself? He never called me back. But everything else works good. I like the micro cleaning. Also, the quality seems to be good. It drains within two minutes, which is fast.

Come to find out, after they finished and nailed it all back up, they finished it but I noticed that they had cut down the wall by each side frame and across the top. And then, down the other wall. They found out that it wouldn’t work when they got the tub up there. And I found a big gash in my wall. It’s very obvious. It’s a hole in my wall and around my doorframe. They need to come in and fix it.

I’m tempted to tell Safe Step I’m not gonna pay for it until they come in and fix that. I've been calling them a day or so after they got the tub in. I had an appointment with a different tub company but their representative wouldn't give us a price until we were ready to sign a contract. So I let it sit for a couple of weeks. Then I called Safe Step in Chesapeake and asked the lady who answered the phone to send a representative out. She said that they would have somebody at our house at two o'clock in the afternoon and then I asked her if that rep could tell me and my wife what the Safe Step tub would cost us completely. She confirmed that we would know the price before that rep would leave our house. So I got involved with Safe Step.

The gentleman from Chesapeake came over here. His name is Keith. He did what he had to do. He said that they were not here to take all of our money for a downpayment. If we decided to have this tub installed, all he wanted was a $2,000 down payment. I wrote him a check and everything was fine. He then said that someone would contact me. It would probably be four or five weeks. That's because they are in Nashville Tennessee and we’re in Smithfield, Virginia, which is about 750 miles away. But the installer was from here around the local area.

The installer from Richmond, Virginia sent out the tub the day he promised that they were coming. They came and they brought the Safe Step tub in the house, set it on the living room, and asked for the person that was going to be using the tub to try and get into it. My wife cannot walk without being on a rolling walker. But the tub that was sent out here had a door that would open to the inside. So my wife tried to step in there. When you step in with the door open on the side, you have to step around the door, and then close the door, which could be a hazard for my wife.

The installer said that he was taking this tub back to the Richmond Area and he would be back here next Tuesday with a different type of Safe Step tub. Then he showed up at my door, brought the new tub in, and did the same thing. What he brought in was one that opened to the right. All that my wife had to do when she was on the outside of the tub was to open the door, go in there, sit down, and close the door with no problem. The installer had her sit in there. Then they installed that tub in about six and a half hours. The installer is the first contractor I ever had in my house that has really protected my house and we are completely satisfied with the Safe Step walk-in tub. We bought the middle-grade tub, but when the installer brought the other tub down, it was really an upgrade and we did not have to pay one penny extra.

I got the tub for my wife and she likes taking a bath with the bubbles. So far, we've had two people, my daughter and our granddaughter, come over and take baths in it. We've told them all about it, so they might be interested in one.

My Safe Step salesperson was great. He was very friendly, knowledgeable, and professional. I got the tub for my mom and the installation went well. The crew came in and they took all the precautions. The job took a little longer than what I was told because there were some issues. Other than that, they took care of everything and it was fine. My mom is 88 and the first thing she said was, “When I sit down, it's gonna be too cold.” But the heated seat was warm. She's not really particularly fond of the whirlpool but she liked the microbubbles.

Safe Step looked like they had everything I wanted. The purchase and the installation process were pretty thorough even though the installers didn't do a complete job. It was supposed to be paint-ready but it wasn't. There is a piece still missing off of it and it wasn’t trimmed out as well. They could have done a better job of installing it. I finished up most of it. I like the tub and its features okay. But instead of giving you a CD on exercises to do in the tub, they ought to give you a CD on how to operate it. There should be more details on using it. Other than that, I have no problem with my tub.

When a fella came and talked to us with everything, Safe Step sounded pretty good so we bought it. Everything went pretty well and smoothly during the installation with the exception of a few things. There was a piece of paneling that was chipped. We told Safe Step about it and they said they would fix it. But it wasn't really fixed straight. The repair guy tried to cover up. The panel should have been replaced and they should have looked at the panel before they installed it. They knew it was there. For the money I paid, I wasn't very happy about it.

Another thing was at the end panel on the tub, there was poor workmanship. It's supposed to be fixed but it wasn't. They put screws in there then they covered over caulking and it looked like heck. Also, the top of the door had a crack in it. They had to order another door. And the third time my wife used the tub, the cover on the hinge came off. Those things aside, the tub looks nice.

A daughter gave my husband Guideposts for Christmas and in that magazine was an advertisement for Safe Step. We had been talking about since our bones are beginning to ache and so, it would be nice if we had a walk-in tub. The advertisement had a phone number on it and we called. We now have a Safe Step tub and are very pleased with it. The installer was very kind, gracious and showed us the features when it was installed.

We liked that the walk-in bath shouldn’t leak although the first time we used it, it leaked out the door. We maybe splashed over the door. We had water run through the wall into our bedroom and that wasn't fun. But it was not the manufacturer's or the installer's fault. It was ours. The oxygen was a high selling point for us. My husband and I both have physical problems. He was the first one to take a bath and his fingernails were clean. For a man who works on the farm, that's wonderful. The shower is in the tub so it doesn’t run. The details that the founder has put into it are very worthwhile and pleasing. We talk a lot about it to our friends. We can't seem to get the personal hygiene valve to function though. It works because the guy showed us. We aren't familiar yet with all of the gadgets to turn and so forth, so it's probably our fault.

We have a cover over some of the screws that popped off in the door and the door handle but we consider that a blessing too. The assistant had to saw off a little bit on something and he went out. I said that I wish I would've asked for a small piece that we could take because we had a low old-fashioned stool and sink in there as well as the bathtub. So, we wanted to get the stool and the sink replaced. When the screws popped off, we just said okay. We have a piece for color matching because different companies do different white.

We now have a new stool in there that matches the color, the nice white, and are working on getting a sink replaced also. We would want to have someone come from the company come when we're done with that little chip off there that knows exactly how to replace it. My husband thinks he can glue it back on but we want it done by the professional that knows exactly what to use. Anyway, we're very happy with the walk-in bath.

Updated on 02/23/2021: The first review I've ever done was 1/18/2021, and it was regarding what a mistake it was to purchase this tub for practical reasons. That review was written 5 days after calling for service on the tub, which would have made the call on 1/13/2021. 1/13/21 - original call for service. 1/18/21 - I called for status, and was told the contractor has 5 days, not including weekends. 1/26/21 - Still no return call, so I called again and was promised I'd get a call from the contractor. 1/28/21 - No call back, another promise.

2/3 or4/21 - Call from contractor who could only come on Sunday because he is so busy. 2/7/21 - Contractor came, determined the tub to be clean, motor died. He said he would order a new motor. 2/15/21 - Called for status, was told they didn't know if the motor had come in, and that the contractor would call and let me know. (side note - I told the service rep that I didn't know if she would actually do anything, but that I knew the contractor wouldn't call, and I'd be calling back in a week asking for status). 2/23/21 - Called for status, was told the motor arrived on 2/13/21 (2 days before previous call), that the contractor has 30 days, and that they would notify the contractor to call me.

I have received apologies and promises, but not service. It's worth it to note that they set up their timeline as they go. When I called on the 18th, that was the first I was told the contractor has 5 days, and when I called on the 23rd (today), it is the first I've heard they have 30 days. I am recommending to anyone looking to purchase one of these tubs to AVOID Safe Step, as their service is the worst I have ever encountered (Worse even that Verizon service), and to read my review from 1/18/21 to see some of the things they don't tell you when they are selling it to you. I paid for the lifetime service, but the only thing the service department can do is send emails and call the contracting agents. They keep unreliable contractors because they really don't care much, after you've paid for the tub, what you go through to use it.

Original Review: I have never reviewed a company before, good or bad experience, but this time, I feel I must. Spending close to 18 grand on this tub was a big mistake on my part. I have a degenerative condition which causes me pain 24/7, and I thought this would help, and it does, but it's not worth the cost.

    1. They tell you a 40 gallon tank is enough hot water, but it isn't, even with a brand new tank. Add 2 grand to the cost of the tub.
    2. They don't tell you that you sit in the cold while the tub is filling.
    3. They don't tell you that if you have long legs, you have to contort your body in order to close the door.

    4. If you have any problems, like the plug not closing tightly, the remote not working, or one of the features not working (in my case, the microbubbles), before you get off the phone with them, the first thing they do is expect you to fix the problem, then explain why the problem is your fault and will cost you to fix it.

This tub is probably great in a hospital, nursing home, etc., where there is staff to assist, and rooms can be heated prior to using the tub. I don't recommend it for private homes, or for elderly people living alone, and don't expect support. As stated before, they have a whole litany of reasons why anything that goes wrong is the customer's fault. When the tub was installed, they told me to use alcohol to clean the rubber around the door, which I do. They told me to throw a couple dishwasher squares in once a month to clean it, which I do, even though I've only been able to use it as a tub in the last month because I had to save for a new hot water tank. (The tub was installed in April 2019.)

When I called about the microbubbles, I was told that if there's a clog in the tube, it's my fault, because I don't use powdered dishwasher detergent. Interestingly, she had time to tell me that, but when I didn't hear from anyone after a week and called them back, I was told that the repair service has 5 days, not including weekends, to respond. That shows where their priorities are. I'm glad it's made in the USA, but that doesn't make up for the inconveniences caused by purchasing the tub.

Added note.. In order to submit this review, they want you to upload a receipt of purchase in order to verify you as a buyer, yet when you call them, they only ask for a phone number, which is part of this review, in order to verify that. I'm not uploading anything. They have my phone number. That's all they need. We'll see if this review gets published.

I originally suggested with my wife that if we were going to be in the market for a tub like Safe Step's, we should get at least four competitive bids. But there were some features that she perceived to be one-of-a-kind so she insisted on Safe Step instead of examining the other possibilities. At the time we got the tub, the salesman, Lenny, was personable and professional.

The installation looked very appealing. It was a sparkling and beautiful job done by Rudy. He was a very good guy. Under the hood, however, there were some troubles with the installation. My wife was trying to take a bath after Rudy left and all of a sudden, everything turned off in the tub. We thought it was some sort of timer circuit that we weren't aware of but that wasn’t the case. She got out of there and we started messing around with the controls and managed to find a way to turn it off and turn it back on a few times. Once we did turn it back on, it ran for a moment then it sputtered and died. We could not get any power happening with it any further.

We got in touch with the company and told them there were technical issues. Rudy called back and I explained the situation to him. He came out and determined that the tub was installed next to or against an electrical connection from my supply line, down the wall into a box right where the tub was supposed to go there, so my electric power supply to the tub is and was solid. Rudy deduced that he had failed to connect to my power supply. An open circuit occurred between what was in my wall where he attached the device that he used to attach to my electrical wires and run that device to the tub and the tub. Unless I wanted an extension cord coming out of the access panel which would be unsightly and not professional-looking, in order to fix that, he will have to uninstall the tub, reestablish and verify the electrical connection then reinstall the tub.

The problem with that situation didn't stop with the quality of the installation. While my wife was taking her bath and after I took my own, we both realized that it was too small. The tub has to be uninstalled, reconnected and reinstalled, but we're still left with a tub that we feel is too small for us which is a reflection on Lenny's part. We called him and he got back in touch with us within a couple days. He asked, “Did you know that we have larger tubs?” I told him I did not know that.

At this point, we are so nonplussed with our experience and not satisfied with the strength of the water jets. Everything seemed weak and kind of wimpy. Maybe for somebody in their 90s, it would probably have plenty of gusto. But we're not in that age group yet and we were expecting better performance from the tub itself and what is possible with it. I used to be in sales and it was my responsibility to spec stuff out. It would not be the customer’s fault to fail to ask questions. It would be the salesman making sure that his responsibility to educate the customer and ask the appropriate questions in order to close the sale is done.

When Lenny was here, we did not know there were multiple sizes of tubs. We were totally ignorant and Lenny never mentioned measuring to assure the proper size. So, now, we're freaking out. We borrowed $12,600 and paid $2,000 down on this tub. We should have done it with a MasterCard or a Visa instead of a personal check because we are anticipating a refund of the $2,000 subsequent to whenever they get back out here to uninstall the tub.

There was a company that Safe Step works with called GreenSky. They are co-writers of home improvement loans. In this particular case, it was Fifth Third Bank. I called GreenSky while I was waiting for a return call from Lenny. I got in touch with this guy named Ben. I told him everything and that we don't want the product. He said that was simple enough. He also said that probably, the line of credit was issued but has not been tapped into yet. In other words, we had not spent the money that had been authorized. GreenSky went ahead on my behalf and blocked the account. No one can access that money now which is great. If I'm out any money, I'm out 2,000 instead of 14,600.

I've had one conversation with Lenny subsequent to the call he made to me about two days after I launched my initial complaint. I've only spoken to him, since the sale, twice. The second time I spoke with him was eight days ago. He said he was on it and he was working with Rudy. At that point, I was trusting of Lenny. He was calling me back or answering his phone. Then, a week went by and I was calling him but I was not getting any return calls from him no matter how many texts or voicemail messages I left. I never used any expletives in my voicemails or texts. I kept it professional and aboveboard.

While I was driving down the highway, Lenny dialed me by accident. I called him right back and his voice answering machine said, “The number you called is not available.” I never got a call back from him. Yesterday, I called and spoke to Lisa and another young lady. She was very good. I told her I was not hearing back from Lenny and I would like to go ahead and communicate with Lenny’s immediate supervisor. She put in an email to Lenny's boss and said that I can expect to hear from Lenny’s boss within 48 hours.

At this point, I don't think Lenny or his boss know that the financing got approved, but they never got paid for that tub. I don't understand how that tub could have shipped to the installer without payment. $2,000 down doesn't pay for the tub but I don't think the tub was even worth $2,000. I want it out of here. I really do want my money back. I know I can find something for two grand to put in there. I'm not interested in giving them another chance to screw up my life. I perceive this company as having targeted elderly people who might be easier to impress with air bubbles and a weak water jet system. I had a walk-in tub before this tub. I bought it from South Korea and it was under 2,000 bucks. A carpenter installed it for me and I might have spent all of $2,500 putting the tub in including the work to install it. I can't even fathom what kind of tub could cost nearly $15,000.

It seems to me that in order for Safe Step to sell their product successfully, they're going to need to find a way to showcase their product and allow people to get into a tub and move around. The tub needs to be operational so that the customer can figure out whether the jets are gonna be powerful enough for them. Safe Step needs to figure out how to do that.

I knew there was gonna be a delay from the time I signed the contract with Safe Step until I got it fixed. They called me and told me when it was gonna be ready and installed, and I was okay with that. The day it was to be installed, I’d forgotten about it. At 10 o'clock in the morning, I heard somebody knock on the door. Two guys out there said, “We're from Safe Step two install your tub.” They were really nice guys. One was a fireman from Palatka, and the other guy was from Palatka too. They were very neat. They cleaned up. They had stuff right out the yard when they were installing it. They had the tub in the driveway. Then all around the driveway, it had all these boxes. They were pulling stuff out and putting the faucets on. They said they were gonna finish up around four o'clock.

We had some problems with the water cut off on the outside of the house, and I had to call in a plumber. They said that as long as he got here before 4 o'clock, they would be finished up. If he didn't, they'd have to come back Monday. But the plumber came out and fixed it long before they were ready to finish. They finished up right around 4 o'clock just like they said they would. So, I was really pleased.

My great granddaughter uses the tub more than anybody else. She knows how to operate it. She’s seven years old. She’s bright as can be. She absolutely loves it. She knows how to work everything. She loves the changing lights. My wife used the tub yesterday afternoon and she loved it. She didn’t want me to get it. She said I don’t need it. Now she says, it's one of the best investments ever made after my pool.

Kohler runs bigger ads than Safe Step does, but their price is better. Their equipment is probably equal to Kohler's. Safe Step finishes it off very nicely. I had one of those great, big tubs that we didn't have enough hot water. We got two hot water heaters and one is for our bathroom, and the rest is for the rest of the house. It’s only a 30-gallon tank, and it wasn't quite enough. So, I was gonna buy a booster and my son called. I'm talking to my other grandson. He was at Lowe's and he said, “Hey, I've got a water tank up here for 400 bucks, 50 gallons. You may wanna consider that rather than a booster.” So, we put the tank in Sunday, and it's more than adequate for the tub.

They said that the power drain makes some funny noise that lasts about a minute when the motor goes on to flush all the lines. It makes a buzzing noise. Our bathroom is right off our bedroom, only about 25 feet from our bed, and we can hear it when it goes off to drain after somebody uses it. The only time it goes off is after somebody has used the tub. But overall, we highly recommend it to anybody that would want one.

We have not been happy. It's the worst experience we've ever had. We have thousands of dollars of damage and we've had nothing but trouble from the first install that didn't happen. Their construction install people were never supposed to been in here in the first place but their install manager went behind our back and that's who he got in here. They did all this damage then partially assembled the tub because we wouldn't sign to say the stuff was done right. They left us with 10 days and there is no way to use the tub or shower.

The saleslady had a woman with her from New York who was the rudest person I've ever met. We find out now that the saleslady has lied to us several times too. She misrepresented the tub and the install contract. She said there shouldn't be any problem if the hot water isn't sufficient which evidently ours is not. I can't believe AARP who we belong to or anybody would recommend this company. We've been working with the finance company and they've been trying to get Safe Step to come in and take care of this stuff or refund the money and take the tub back for nearly a month now, but they've done nothing.

There was a gal from Safe Step who came out to the house and she was fantastic. She knew the things I didn't want to spend a whole lot of time on because I had already done my research online. I already knew I wanted to buy it and I just needed to know how much it was. But she still told me about it and ran through the features with me. If there were things that I wanted more information on, then she played to that. So, she was cognizant of what my interests were as far as hearing about it. She was very nice and accommodating. So, I appreciated that about her. She measured everything and I love that she informed me of what they were going to do and what it was going to take.

Installation crew-wise, there was a piece of it which was a kind of a velcro on the front, and it didn't come with it. Literally, the person who was at my house drove over the next day and brought me the piece. So, they were Johnny-on-the-spot, great guys, easy to talk to, easy to work with and wonderful people. I primarily got the tub for my mom. She doesn't live here, but she comes down and visits. I haven’t technically used it but I need to because it's cool.

It would be nice if the price came down some. It was nice to have the discounts available and I took advantage of all of those but it’s still very expensive. It's worth it but they would have a hard time selling them. But then, it’s not as hard to spend money when you know there's value in it. It’s a fantastic product and it is going to serve me very well. I love the hybrid feature because I have a lot of people that visit me and they don't all want to take a bath, which was why I went with Safe Step. The fact that they manufacture it, install it and service it is phenomenal.

Everybody was courteous and nice and friendly. Most people like the rainbow shower. I like it, but to me, the showerhead is a little bit too large. Also, it takes the tub a long time to fill up. With a regular tub, you just turn the water on and step away for a few minutes and come back and you step in the tub. You can't do that with the step-in tub because you can't leave the door open. I read all the instructions about three times. They explained everything to me. Once a month, you should fill the tub up with warm water and wash it out.

They had to create another place for the electric to enter and so, they had to put these little pipes up above the place where the box is. They were talking about it but I didn't know that this was what it was going to look like when I went in front of the house and looked. It was atrocious-looking. When I saw that, I was blown away and not in a good way. I just stood there. I couldn't believe that they did that to our house. If we ever sell the house down the road, it probably would be a lower value now. The trees block it and I got a painter to cover it with the color of the house because they were metal pipes. But even so, nobody else has pipes on the front of their house.

Everything went very fast. They were very good and nice people but I wasn't happy with the way they had to do it. It was already put up there and I couldn't tell them to take it down. They said they didn't have any place else to direct it because we didn't have an attic it could go through. So, they had to go across the way. It goes up and then sideways. But if I had known that that was going to happen in the very beginning when the salesman was here taking pictures of all that and if he had told me about it, I would have just passed on the whole deal.

The salesman sent pictures to the workers and he got all the measurements. But he didn't tell me that was what they were going to do and maybe he didn’t know. I'm not happy with that setup. While the installers were doing it, they could have come up to me and told that it was what they were going to do. They had to bring in electricians from their sources and they could have consulted with me. The other thing is, the tub is too short for me. I'm almost 6-feet-tall and if I get the water level to where it’s going to bubble or the jets are going to go, it goes all over the floor because these are very powerful water jets. So, I have to spend a half-hour cleaning up the floor. It comes up over the top and the sides and even though I have the shower thing inside, it still bubbles over and makes its way outside of the tub.

I asked the salesman if there was someplace I could sit down and try it out. But nobody had one and I ended up spending all this money. Then, they made it sound like they did so much for you because they put up that wall and shower thing. I mainly use it now for a shower because I can't fill up the tub as much as I'd like to. I do but I fill it up low. I would like to sink in and have my shoulders get some treatment and my back but I don't want to splash all over the place. I wish that I had more room and that I had known in advance what it felt like to be in there. Also, every once in a while, the thing doesn't even work right. You press a button and the whirlpool will go. Sometimes, the jets will go and I don't know if it's working right.

I’m very crippled and I thought a walk-in tub would help. The rep from Safe Step presented what he had and explained it to me, and I thought it was right. He was friendly enough. Two guys were here for the installation. There are a couple things I don't like about the tub. The temperature of the water shuts off halfway through it, and I can't turn the water hot enough. It’s kind of small, too. I'm a bit disappointed for the money that I paid. They sent it in this house before I had any idea what the size of that damn thing was. But it does help my knee a lot.

I'm very pleased with Safe Step. It's absolutely a joy. I'm enjoying it very much. I have a little back problem going on. I get in that and sit about 30 minutes, and what a tremendous help. I've really wanted that for a long time. I like all the features in the tub, but I also enjoyed the shower when I went to shampoo my hair. I was pleased with the two gentleman that put the tub in. The installation went very quickly. They were here about 8 o'clock, and by 12:30, they were finished. They were very good. They got in there and got to business, and they took some pictures off the wall when they had to beat up the other bathtub. I was very happy for their consideration. The sales reps were also wonderful, polite and nice as they could be.

The sales team was great and the installation team was very good explaining everything. They did an efficient job as well. Everything was great, except we didn't know they were gonna use our Norwex towel to clean up with. It was hanging behind my bathroom door and after they left, we found it all soiled on the floor. It's an $80 bath towel and it was ruined. It was full of slivers and fiberglass particles. We washed it, but it didn't do any good.

The biggest problem with the Safe Step tub is it's noisy, and it takes a long time to fill up. We have to sit there so long before it fills up so we can use the jets, but we're getting used to it. One of us is the old person in the house and she uses it the most. She likes all of the features, but she doesn't know how to turn on the bidet thing. Other than that, the tub is relaxing. Her knees don't hurt 'cause she doesn't have to get up and down out of the other tub.

I wrote a check to Safe Step for the 14,731. It showed it got deposited the same day, which was the 28th. Then two days later, another check was cashed and they added a dollar to it. It was 14,732. It showed where a dollar was added. I said, "How the hell does anybody add $1 to a check?" But the same check got cashed twice within two days. They cleaned out my checking account, went into my savings, and I was broke for a couple hundred dollars. I didn't check it until Saturday night. I couldn't sleep. I got up, and I checked my account to make sure the check got through. When I saw zero balance, it was awful. It was the worst experience I had my whole life.

I went from Saturday night, all day Sunday, and I called the 800 number on Monday and made an appointment at the bank. I got to the bank and they didn't know how it happened, and so they started to do an investigation. I waited a week. I just got a letter back yesterday and they said, "Sorry for the inconvenience." I called them up, and I said, "Inconvenience? You could be talking to one of my members of the family. I could be dead. It almost gave me a freaking heart attack. I got the money back in my account. But what I wanna know now is, how did one check get cashed twice within two days with a dollar difference?"

This claim department said, "I should get back to my local bank and ask them." I said, "I wanna know why I wasn't protected. I have overdraft protection. But why wouldn't the bank call me and ask me if two checks are wrote, if one check is getting cashed one day, and two days later, a dollar is added to it?” I called Safe Step, and told the rep about it. He said he only got one check. He was pretty nice about it. Then when I called him two days later and told him the money was back in my account, he still didn't know how and now they're trying to blame it on the bank where they have an account. All they're doing is pushing the buck around.

I got rheumatoid arthritis, and I thought maybe the Safe Step might help me with my shoulders. But with my experience, I've not been able to use it because it brings back that terrible nightmare. I'm not really comfortable with it. I'm like shying away from it right now. The sales team was very nice. It was just the experience afterwards with the check getting deposited twice. If anybody asked me about it, I'm gonna say, "Oh, my God, don't use them because somehow they cash your check twice." It was terrible.

Right now, I don't even know how to use all the gauges in the bathtub. I tried to use the shower last night. I couldn't get the top shower working. I can't blame that guy who came to install either because I had a doctor's appointment. I thought it was gonna take three days. I thought they wouldn't be done the first day. I left at 2:30, and they were ready to wrap up, so he went through it very hurriedly. I have not really enjoyed the bathtub at all, so far. I'm so disappointed. When you get in the shower, you have to sit down to close the door or even get in to close the door. You can't just walk in.

The first experience I got in, I got out, my floor was drenched. Then the second time, I watched what was going on. I think the bubbles were too high. I wasn’t explained about the cleaning of it once a month. It was a good thing I read the pamphlet. I wasn't told where I could get any more beads if I wanted any more of that aroma that puts in that little dispenser they have. I don't know if I'm at fault or who's at fault because of the incident with the check episode. It's just has a bad taste in my mouth.

Barry said he's gonna send me a check for 250 for all the aggravation I went through and send me some beads. I've never heard anything from him back on that. Then I did get a callback when I called them. I thought I had a leak, but it was about three or four days later before someone called to see if anybody had called me on it or what was going on. Then he gave me his number and said to call him back if I had a problem. Right now, I'm not happy until I find out what happened with that check.

We're getting older and I do have some aches and pains. I have sciatic nerve. My husband has problems with his knees and back. Having the Safe Step, we don't need to do exercises every time.

The Safe Step rep was very nice. He really explained the product very well. We saw the video. He took a little time. It wasn't a rush thing. The installation was great. It took a little longer because I live in an older house, so they had to do reverse plumbing. They had to come back the next day. It took like a day and a half. They were very clean. With the way they cleaned up, we didn’t have to really do any cleanup behind them. It was wonderful. Everybody was so nice.

I got a knee replaced and my other knee is not in the greatest shape. I'm 73 years old and my wife and I are both developing balance problems. We saw Safe Step on TV and in other advertisements. So we looked into it and called them up. We had the salesperson come over and she did a good job of explaining it to us. The guys did a super job and were done in seven hours from start to finish. They left the place clean and everything's in order. It feels great having the tub, except the hot water heater runs out of hot water before it quite gets full. I gotta figure out something different to do. The heater has only been in two years and it's a 40-gallon. So, it should keep up. I increased the heat on it to see if that will take care of the problem and I'm gonna crank it up every time we use the tub just for that purpose.

We had a shower that we couldn't figure out how to put any grab handles on because the tile is so hard. It was one of the problems the installation crew had. They ruined three bits trying to drill that tile to put the handle inside. So, it wasn't just me. They were the proper bits to drill that kind of tile and it was just hard. So, they put the handle on the edge of the tile as you step out of the tub, which works fine. There was also a strip of tile where the wall was that they had to take out. I gotta find somebody that can saw this tile and make me a couple of three-inch strips so I can glue up there on the wall to finish it out. It's no big deal, other than finding a blade sharp enough to cut this stuff.

The doctor suggested that we get a walk-in tub for my husband because he got really bad arthritis in his knee. I've seen advertisements on TV a lot more for Safe Step than others. Then we went to look at Kohler and stuff and they were all equally as expensive, but I wanted a name that I know I could go back and get service if I needed it because that was quite a big purchase, just as much as a car.

The Safe Step sales representative that came out to us was a lovely man. He explained every facet of the tub, its operability and all the steps. But I didn't like to be rushed into a sale. When he came in, he filled out the form and started asking us a bunch of questions and I didn't realize that he was doing it to actually sell the tub at that time. So I told him that we'd like to think about it and he said that he just filled it out and that I wouldn't get this discount 'cause I was handicapped and I got the money saved on it. We were gonna buy the walk-in tub but he put us on the line. After he did, I asked if he would mind waiting for a moment and I went in and took my time working my budget. He was very nice and he sat there and waited.

I had two young boys to do the installation. They're probably the nicest people you'll ever wanna meet. But they left a mess. I still got goop on my walls and they came back out to clean it. But some of the stuff, they just said that they couldn't get it off. There was still caulk and goop in my tub. We've just been slowly but surely trying to get it out. Also, there were fingerprints all over my wall So I'm gonna have to paint them. My favorite feature about the tub is the air and the water jets together. But I do not feel any different than any other tub. I was expecting the MicroSoothe to be better.

    Reviewed Nov. 9, 2020

I ordered the walk-in tub in August and it was installed in September. The installation went terribly. They broke a line. I’m on the 14th floor and it flooded two floors below me. I finally got the water turned off. I wouldn’t place the blame on the two people who worked on it. But I got work orders and for many weeks, people would say that they would get it taken care of by the end of the week. That went on for several weeks.

I’ve used the tub one time and the water has gone up over the back of the tub. They said that I can get a splashguard from Home Depot. I paid $16,000 for this and I’m not gonna run into Home Depot, spend $5 and install it myself. It wasn't set levelled so the seat remains wet. I'm 6 feet tall and it’s way too small for me. It's designed for someone who is maybe 5’6 tall. For me to use the foot massage is impossible and to sit in it is uncomfortable. So, I was sent this cushion and it's open-cell, which is useless. It can't be used. It's the sponge like you have on the sink.

Closed-cell foam is something that you can get from Home Depot that doesn't absorb water. So, if you were to put that underwater and you also have a seat that one can sit on which consists of cellulose, you have to take it out and wring it out. Then you should put it outside. It's one-time use only. I'm gonna go to Home Depot and get tile sponges, which is the kind of thing that you use to grout tile and you smoothen out the tile, and that is closed-cell foam.

The person who sold it to me was a very good salesperson. She upsold me to different things and that was fine. They make a lot of money on these things and it was incumbent upon me to do a little bit better research. But under no circumstances would I ever recommend Safe Step. I wouldn’t recommend even getting one of these things. It’s a total waste of time and money. I’m not an old person who has to have a walk-in but because I do quite a lot of extensive traveling, I figured that I’ll just throw the money I’m saving on traveling into a tub and a new kitchen as well. It was a huge mistake. If I wasn't having so much stuff with my kitchen right now, I would have more time going to public sites and expressing my displeasure.

Overall, Safe Step did a good job. I was shocked that their installation only took five hours. They protected my floor. But then they stuffed where the shower head was coming out of the wall with a bunch of caulking. I have to pull all that caulking out 'cause once it dries it would shrink. I have an indentation in my wall and I gotta get in there, step on the seat of the tub, pull all the garbage out of there, and do it right.

Also, the finished board that they put up wasn't caulked on top. If I was doing a job, I would caulk it all the way around. I ended up calling the office 'cause they don't answer other lines. The girl there said that they would get in touch with somebody who does the contracting and one of them would give me a callback. A week later, I'm still waiting for a callback.

I don’t like the Safe Step tub but I can’t get rid of it. When I first spoke with the girl, she said they would measure and I'd have a whole year to decide to do it. However, the one who came to measure said he was not going to measure if I was not gonna take it. It was supposed to be with overhead shower but they just put the hand held thing. A senior is not good enough to hold the shower, pull it out, and shower. Also, why do they make the door open on the inside? Another thing is they should not put the button for the jets to the back. They should put it where a senior can get the button. They should put those things to the front or higher. It’s bad enough that I have to go in and turn sideways to close the door, then I have to push knobs at the back.

A few friends have come and looked at it. One said they don’t need to get a walk-in bathtub. Some of my friends are still concerned about the going in and the closing the door. The other one was saying you’re really not leaning down because there’s really no headrest. What my other girlfriend said was, “I’m an old person. I can go into the bathtub, but I am cold while I’m sitting there to turn the water on.” It’s not something you can turn on then go into, like your shower. At least you can turn your shower on, know what the temperature is, and go in. With the the walk-in tub, you can’t do that because your door must be closed or your water will be out.

They were done in about seven hours. They were gone between 2:00 and 3:00. We've got a couple of issues about the tub that we've got to take care of. There's a little leakage at the base of the door. We haven't called about that yet.

The thing I'm most surprised about is it appears that our water tank is a 40-gallon water tank. Before it fills up, the hot water is all gone. If they wanna sell this stuff, somebody might say to the people buying it, "Look, this thing takes more than 40 gallons to fill up. And if you only got a 40-gallon hot water tank, you're not gonna be able to get it tippy top full. So that it comes up over those back jets.” We've got to either buy a bigger water tank or never have over the back jets. Somebody should have looked at our tank. You're sitting in there waiting for it to get to the top, so you can turn all the jets on. Then all of a sudden, the water coming out of the tap is cold. No matter what you do, it's just cold. I gotta figure out what to do about that hot water. But Safe Step's people are wonderful.

We looked at Safe Step's advertisement, and we thought it was a good deal. My daughter has a lot of knowledge about things like that, and we decided that that was the best option. Everybody at Safe Step was excellent. The guy that came in and took all the details was a gentleman. The people that installed it were in and out of here in no time at all. They did a good job.

The only problem is my legs are swelled up, and my feet are swollen on the top of my feet, and I can't get in the tub. I try to get in, and I can get in with the door open, but I can't close it on my feet. The door is very low on it. So, I can't use it. Overall, my wife is ecstatic. She said it was the best thing that ever happened. She loves it. She looks forward to her bath.

I had a tub for the last 12 years but it was really looking awful. I wanted a new one so I read about it and I am thrilled to death that I got it. The rep was very nice and informative. Those guys during the installation were wonderful. The tub looks beautiful. I could sing its praise all day long. It's bigger than the one I had and the quality is much better. I really like those microbubbles. My son-in-law who's had a stroke was visiting. I put him in it and he thought it was great. My husband loves that he gets in it. I feel relaxed when I get out of it. I'm very satisfied with Safe Step. If anybody would want one, I'd be glad to show them mine and talk them into it. Having two tubs, I really see a difference and I didn't think I would. I couldn't recommend it enough. Anybody that needs that tub would be very happy with it.

We're loving it. My sister's coming over this afternoon to try it out because we're trying to convince her to get one. The guys that did the installation came in at 12:30 in the afternoon, and they were out of here before 6 o'clock in the evening. They washed the walls and the floor. I couldn't have asked for a better clean-up crew. I heard nightmare stories. I've had it before where the installers said they were gonna have it all done in one day, and it was a mess. My wife has trouble getting around. I was thinking it'd be easier for her to get in and bathe. She's having trouble bathing. Standing her up and getting her right on the shower's kind of a hazardous deal. I was doing it more or less for her sake and her ease. She didn't like taking a bath or a shower because she was fearful of falling and it’s kinda aggravating to do that. She loves our Safe Step tub. It gets her clean without having to do a lot of stuff and washing. It works out really good. She likes bathing a lot more. It's a lot easier and a lot safer. She goes in and bathes now without having to stand around and try to wash and get around and clean, which is a whole lot better.

The installers did really good. They got 100 on that thing. But they knocked a hole in the other wall. I've called them twice. They're supposed to come out and fix it, but I ain’t heard from them. I’m concerned about it. I talked to Jeff last week, and he's gonna get back and he’ll come out one day and fix it. I need to get that hole fixed in that wall.

She’s 89 years old and her legs hurts a lot. The only thing is I wish I’d known before that the tub is big and it holds a whole lot of water. When the tub was put in, I was told my mom's hot water tank wouldn't be a big enough, that she may have to get another one. The water doesn’t come out cold, but it’s not warm enough either. Still, I'm pleased with it. The installers did a good job. They did it faster than I thought they would. When they put in the Safe Step tub, it's deep, and my mom was a little scared at first, but she likes it now. She has used it four times and I like that it makes her feel better after she uses it. My daughter and my granddaughter have been helping me learn to work it good as well. It seems good.

I feel better when I get out of the tub. However, it is kinda small. I was made aware of the size before I purchased it but I didn't realize it was that tight. Also, I had called them because there is a spot in the caulking where something needs to be done to it. This was over two weeks ago but I still have not heard from anyone yet. It's not a big spot but with all the money I'm paying for it, it needs to be fixed. My husband said there's a potential for leakage. We did not use the tub as told for 24 hours so it's not something that we did.

My uncle told me about tub that they had installed and how good it was. One day I was watching it on TV and that's what made me call in addition to the fact that they were offering the shower with it. I was trying to get them the referral bonus. The representative told me there was some paperwork they should have filled out. He was gonna send an email. But they are in their late 80s, early 90s so they're not good with texting and all that. I would love for them to get the referral bonus because had they not given me their input, I wouldn't have even thought about it.

It's great that I'm able to get the water at least up over my stomach. The only problem I had was the inspection. They told me to leave the water in the tub so they could look for leaks or anything. The inspector was supposed to come the next day but he didn’t. After about five days, I called the number that I could get hold of, and evidently, the word wasn't communicated to the inspector. I had let the water out after seven days so then they rejected it. I had to fill it back up and the inspector came back the next day. He was nice.

I am enjoying our Safe Step. The only feedback is that the shower part of it is not so kosher. For me, it’s a beautiful system except it's a little too narrow. When you're showering, whether you’re using the overhead or the handheld, too much water is going over on the counter. It spills on the counter, which consistently, you have to dry. It would be good if there could be a slope to make one part of it a little lower so the water runs back into the back. It is very good for a bath. Because of the nature of my job, I have to do more showering because I'm one of those essential workers. And that is my go-to shower room. So, for me if you're sitting and showering, it’s a little okay. But if you're standing, it’s not so okay.

We saw Safe Step and we loved everything about it. The sales representative that came out was a great guy. He could sell anything. His name was Frank. The installation was very good. We first saw Safe Step advertised on TV, and then we got a flyer in the mail. I called about it, and then a lady came out and gave us a little presentation. At first, she was a little pushy. But by the time we were over, she was helpful. Because I had some doubts about taking out that Jacuzzi tub and how it was gonna look when they came because the physical size was so much smaller than the tub that was being taken out. I was concerned because we had a window there and it was like, "We're gonna do this, that." I said, "No, this is a nice home and we're not doing that." So, I said, "No, just forget it." Then she said, "Let me talk to our installer and see what we can do."

I really wanted the tub because of my husband mainly, and then I've used it since it's been installed. Then, the lady who was that salesperson thanked me and sent a thank you card. The installers were super. They sent the wrong stuff though. So, we waited. They said four to six weeks. It was closer to seven weeks before they got here. Then, when the fellas got the tub and started to put on the fixtures, they sent for a shower instead of for a tub.

So then, it's a week and a half later. They finally got the fixtures that are just for the tub. Lo and behold, he said they were oil rubbed bronze, but they're a lot lighter. It's not like chrome, that would be an obvious difference, but it does not match like it did. But by that point, I was like, "This is what we've gotten." So, that disappointed me. Because the color of the shower stuff was the exact color to match what we had.

They were also supposed to ship it to my house 'cause he was doing another job about 60 miles away, and when he finished that, he could come and put the fixtures in. But, they didn't. They shipped to his house, which is a five and a half-hour drive from where we are. So we had to wait till the following week to get that put in. Also, the tub's a little bit narrow to get in and out of. We're not tiny, but we're not big people. It's okay for us, but even my husband has a little hard time with the narrowness. But it's great 'cause it saves water.

Since the installation, our walk-in tub has removed a lot of dead skin and I'm well pleased with it. It's easy to get into and you don't have to step over anything. I also like it because of the heated seat and because I can sit down off the seat into the water then just let it go all over me.

I've heard about Safe Step a long time ago. I'm 70. I have fallen in the tub several times and I don't want to do it anymore. I fell and broke my leg a couple of years ago, so that got me scared of everything. We just moved here. I didn't wanna do it before because we were gonna move. And I didn't want a house with no regular bathtub in it. The rep was a nice man, and the installation team was fantastic. I love my tub. I like the safety features. I like the non-slip floor, and the seat. I use that the most along with the handheld sprayer.

The sales rep from Safe Step was a good salesman but when a salesman tells you what the tub is supposed to be like when they install it, then he needs to follow up on the guy that installs it. There should be somebody behind them that's gonna look up at the job and make sure the tub is put in like it's supposed to be put in. If not, it gives the tub a bad name. The installer worked really hard and did a good job doing it but it's not like we were told it's gonna be. It takes 15 minutes for the tub to fill up and we were told the plate that goes around it would have a tilt to it like water gets on it, it would go back in the tub. It's impossible for that to happen. It's perfect level. But we can deal with that.

I got the walk-in tub for my wife because she couldn't get in and out of our other tub and everything about it is really nice. Our favorite features are the air jets and those small bubbles. My wife likes that the best. And the seat’s nice. It heats up. Also, it's nice that they have that temperature control where people can fill it and they don't burn their feet up. It's automatically preset and you can move it wherever, but as far as safe, that switch gives it its name. It’s very safe for older people that don't have feeling and confused about adjusting stuff.

The installers took a little longer than expected to come because they told us it would take one day. And it ended up taking three days. But other than that, it was good. I like the massage jets. I have noticed a lot of pain from my leg has gotten better. I wish that when they're waiting for permanent stuff, they would let the customer know, “Hey, we haven't forgot about you. I am 89 years old and I have been quite ill. I'm supposed to be recovering and I had not been able to get in a bathtub. I felt unsafe so I stopped. I saw Safe Step's coupon in the Sunday paper about a $2,000 discount. I called with the coupon and I asked how much it would cost but nobody would tell me. They said they would make an appointment to come to my house and they would have to see. Their rep finally told me how much it costs and I said, "Jesus. It cost that much?" But all the things that are on it are what makes it expensive, as well as the installation.

I am having a ball with the tub and they say that it will change your life and it already has. My first time taking a real bath in the tub, I got in bed and I almost didn't get up. It relaxed me. Whenever I tell somebody that I got one and tell them how much it costs, they say, "Good God," but I tell them I don't regret it. I worked for 37 years. I'm a retired teacher and I need something that makes me feel good at my age.

The people that came to do the installation were really nice. However, the first time I got in it, the tub was leaking so we had to call the folks back. They recaulk it and they wanted to make sure that it was dry. We waited a week before we got in it. Then when I got in, it was leaking. They said they would come fix it, so they had to come back again.

The salesman told me it would be less than 150 and I haven't heard anything else. Other than that, the guys who came out to install were friendly and nice and they did a good job. I got a fiberglass tub, which is better than a plastic one. I haven't been using it but once or twice a week. I don't use it every day. My husband and I got to a point where I thought it was the best solution for us to to get that jacuzzi tub situation without putting in an outdoor spa or a new tub. We both were having trouble getting out of the tub and my husband fell in the shower so I knew it was time I needed to do something different. The salesman from Safe Step was very knowledgeable. I was ready to buy it when he walked through the door but he insisted on telling me everything about it. It was a very thorough presentation and he was very professional. The installation team was great. They had to take the bathroom apart and move the counter out of the way, and they did a good job. Everything has been fine with the tub. It's operating wonderfully and we really like it. I mainly bought it for the spa part of it. We've always had outdoor spas but we moved and retired and I didn't wanna have to get in the hassle of maintaining one outside.

I had a little dust-up when I first got it. I didn't close the door properly. It leaked and I didn't realize it. I stopped payment on my check 'cause I was pissed. I thought it was the tub and I couldn't get ahold of anybody. I called the main number and the girl on the phone was very uncooperative about getting someone out to take care of it. She was not very professional. She was very rigid and not the best customer service person I've ever had before. So I called the salesman and he came out and saw what I had done.

I've had numerous hot tubs, and they're mostly a pain in the rear because you're always in a situation cleaning them every month. If you're in the winter areas like I am, it's hard to fully utilize it when you go outside running to get in the hot tub, then freeze getting out of it and trying to get back at the house. It's annoying. So, I wanted something inside. I work a lot outside just around my house, and it involves some snow sports. So, it's nice to sit and get a massage when you're in the tub.

I looked around and saw the tubs. Based on what I saw, Safe Step was very competitively priced as well as it seemed to have all the options that I was looking for, not the least of which was the shower. So, you can use the tub with the shower or just use the tub. I wanted both. That was a major consideration. The installation was great. The people were friendly. The process came exactly as planned. They were on time. The only problem I've had was that my water heater is old and not up to the task. So, I'm getting a new one today, but outside of that, the tub's been great.

I had a flyer from Safe Step. I called them. I had two companies come and I thought that Safe Step was more quality, the way the guy demonstrated everything, talked about it and showed me films on his little iPad. But I would never recommend Safe Step to anybody because of the service I got as far as the sloppy work they left behind.

I had an older shower door and they took it off to put the one that I bought from them. One of them asked me to send pictures because also they had to take my doorframe off to fit the tub in there. When they put the doorframe back, the frame wasn't in right. It was a little open and I said, "Can you fix it so it's not open like that?" He put caulking on it. They made a mess of caulking, they cracked the tile a little bit where it doesn't look good but we're just stuck with it. It just looks ugly, like something was run down on it.

I complained and I wanted somebody to get back to me. I called to talk to two people and two people said they would get back but they never did. So, I'm not happy with the service we got. We are happy with the tub, though. We liked the tub. We like the lights and everything about it. They've never mentioned it to us till afterward that there was one bigger than that one we got, but that was okay. They said the other one was only an inch bigger. But it would've been nice to have the bigger one.

I heard good things about Safe Step. It sounded good. It's not now. I’m in a terrible state. I have RA. It's making my RA worse. It's one thing after another. The tub is leaking through the door. I have photographs and proof. The salesman has photographs, but he's in the hospital having a gallbladder removed. I'm horrendously unhappy. He told me that he had a hard time getting installers for the Richmond Virginia area. And none of us can help that. But he knew it all. I built my own house and I finished this house in five months in 1991 when everyone said I couldn't do it. I even did a bit of the work. I know my way around a three-quarter-inch board, watermarks, measuring, getting things level. I am not a stupid builder even at my age.

I didn't care for the installer so much, but I thought, “Well, it'll be okay. Everything will be okay. Calm down, come down.” He acted as if I knew nothing and that always irritates me. He refused to fix the door. He said it would leak. He said, “We filled up your tub and it didn't leak first.” It didn't leak until I got into it. I got into it, filled it halfway up, and it began to leak. The first leak was pretty bad because I got it three quarters filled before it really puddles.

I had a hard time getting anybody to come back. Finally, the installer came back and said, “Well, we filled it up and it didn't leak. There's nothing more I can do.” I said, “Well, the salesman tells me you can adjust the door.” He said,” I'm not touching those bolts. If I touch those bolts, it will leak.” And he left. After that, it was just trying to get ahold of everyone. I thought I had an appointment for yesterday, but it's really today's appointment. But in case I needed to, so I filled up the tub again after six days. I filled it halfway up and it leaked worse than the first time. That was after a little fix-it by the salesman. He had come back and he was hoped that would help but he wasn't sure. It didn't. Now it's leaking worse around the door seal. The doors weren't placed right therefore the seal isn't right.

I would like to talk to the owner. I have talked with somebody in the fix it department, the lady that answers the phones, but nobody has called me back in a timely manner. Somebody is supposed to come today. She said, “I will have the person call you right back,” when I talked to her yesterday. Finally, after four or five days. However, nobody has called me back. So, I still am not sure somebody is coming today named Kenny.

I was getting ready to call the federal government if somebody doesn't show up today at 12 o'clock or if they don't call me. I'm calling the feds because I have to get a lawyer fast. I don't want to be out $16,700. I can't afford to lose that kind of money with an 88-year-old husband and me with RA. I cannot afford it. I expected something good and I know what it takes to get this thing out and to get another one in and not have me lose money. It's gonna be impossible. And with RA, that's a disease of stress as much as anything.

I was very impressed with him like that.

The guys that came out to install were perfect. They did a beautiful job. I bought two units, a tub and a separate shower stall. The shower is going to one house, the tub went in another house. I asked for the same guy who put the walk-in tub in to do the shower install in my other house. However, they measured their shower wrong and they gotta replace it. It’s about two inches short. I’ve been waiting for them for a couple of weeks to call me and tell when they were coming in. And I only have a 40-gallon hot water heater, where it takes an 80-gallon hot water heater for the system to run right. It just doesn’t keep the water hot all the time like it’s supposed to. I’m waiting for a callback now from the installer to pull the 40-gallon out and put an 80-gallon in. Other than that, my experience so far has been unbelievable. I already recommended Safe Step to two people.

It was mostly for us. I like the air in the tub. It’s bubbling and it seemed like it gets the deep-down extra dirt that normally you can't get when you're using soap. It’s amazing. My husband's in there more than I am and he would sit there with a glass of wine. Usually, when we buy something like that and it costs a great deal of money, we always want the top of the line. Like when you buy a new car, you don't want to buy a used car. You want to buy the best.

The installation team couldn't get one of the jets to function right. My husband told them that it was getting late and to go back to their room, get a good night's sleep and they would have a fresh head in the morning. Because sometimes you need to just step away for a minute. When they came back, it took an hour and they were done. They were great. Safe Step is the best thing because soon as I got back from Germany, I told my husband I wanted a walk-in tub. He said that we would buy the house first and then we would get the tub. I love it. I don't even take a shower anymore. I sit in the tub. I even tried to talk my sister-in- law to get one.

We're both up there in years and we thought Safe Step would help, just to be able to lay back and relax. The guy that sold it was remarkable. I really enjoyed having him. He was very informative and the whole nine yards. The installers were also fine. They came in and did their job. Everything was done like they said it would be. However, there are a couple of things that we noticed after they’ve gone. I wrote a little note on something that I had to send back, that they cracked some plaster around the doorway that they didn't fix. They also didn't remove the old curtain rod, which looked tacky, up there, with nothing on it.

The sales representative named of Bob came into the home and did a fine job. He did a very nice presentation. I was pleased with what I saw. I told him that we had others that we wish to speak with. He set Safe Step as the first one that we spoke with. We did have others come in, took a look at their product. The big selling factor for us was the low step because my wife is not able to move very well. And the fact that Safe Step uses a single handle tap for the water supply versus two handles, which allows us to mix the water much easier, which was another strong selling point. Some of the others only offered the dual handle and had a higher step. One had a lower step, but they had the two handles. We liked what we saw and that's who we went with.

However, the installation is where lies the rub. It was botched. Bob came in, the sales rep came in and took pictures. We had to take out an old garden tub that was there. There were things they found when they got in that nobody could have expected. I spoke with the installers when they came in. Gentlemen by the name of John and Jonathan. John seemed to be the lead while Jonathan was a younger individual. But both seemed to be very knowledgeable. I said, "How long does this take?" John said, "Well, normally it's three and a half, four hours. Normally, we can put one of these in. We've done quite a few of them." They did a fine job. They put down covering on the carpet, kitchen floor, then the tile where they had to come through that area as well, to make sure that the floors were in fine shape. I was impressed with the way they started.

I took my wife over to our daughter's and stayed over there for a bit. And then, came back and saw what the installers had gotten into. Whoever plumbed the garden tub, it was a mess. They worked through it. They started about 9 o'clock in the morning and left at 9 o'clock that night. So, they were there 12 hours. I went in after they left to use the toilet, and lo and behold, it didn't have any water at the stool. That was the Thursday before Labor Day that we did the installation. I called Bob and talked with him. He said, "Call the hotline number. Call the service department, the 800 number that you have. I'll contact them as well."

Friday morning, I tried to reach out and found out that “Operator 22 is not available.” I tried that two or three times. I called back and talked to Bob. He said, "It's almost Labor Day weekend. Maybe they've left early." And I said, "Well, okay. What would you like me to do?" And he said, "I can't get ahold of anybody either." I spent Friday with a bucket taking water from my shower, filling the toilet so that I could flush the stool. We have a two-bedroom home, but my wife needs to use that bathroom because it's set up with the handrails and guardrails so she can get on and off a stool conveniently for her.

Saturday, I went in to make the bed and I picked the pillows up off the floor where I put them and they were wet. So now, the leak is coming through the wall. The wall is a common wall between that and the tub installation. I said, "Well, it's got to be leaking there. It's got to be coming from the tub." As it turned out, that's what it was.

I talked with Bob again. And he said, "What are you gonna do?" I said, "If I don't hear anything from you guys on Friday, I'm gonna plumb the damn thing myself Saturday," which I did. My son and I went out and bought a piece of PEX, couplings, a supply line, and ran a new water line from the existing water line over to the stool. It still works. We did that ourselves.

Safe Step called Tuesday. I got a call again from John and he said, "I understand we got a leak. Do you want us to come tonight or do you want us come tomorrow morning?" I said, "I want you to come tonight." He said, "We can't get there before 7 o'clock." I said, "I really don't care. I can't shut the water off to the house ‘cause we got to have the toilet. And they don't have any stops to allow me to do that.” I had picked up their tools that they left laying out by the shut-off. There's a curb key and a channel lock out there. In order to shut the water off, they had to go to the street to shut it off. Their tools were laying out there. And I said, "Well, by the way, I've still have those here.” And I put the lid back on the meter box.

They came back and got the problem fixed and taken care of. It has worked fine. My wife loves it. Jonathan was very good about explaining to us how things work and making sure that we understood everything that we needed to know about it. I'm old. I probably forgot a lot of what he told me, but we've learned and my wife likes the tub. I received another call from Bob. He said, "How do you want me to make this right?" I said, "I don't want your damn money. So keep your money. I don't want any." I got a call from the district manager saying the same thing. They offered me cash to do it. I told them I didn't want the money. I love the tub. It does exactly what we wanted to do.

In the tub itself are two handholds. There's one on the side opposite the door and then there's one right by the door, that when you open the door, you can't get ahold of the handle. The door blocks that. You can reach over the top, but you've got to put your wrist on top of the door to do it. It's in an awkward position. And it's awkward for my wife to get in. It's still a two-person job for her to take a bath. I'm there with her because it's difficult for her to get in and out. That handle could perhaps be positioned on top or in another area. I would suggest that their product development guys and their engineers see if they might be able to do something different.

The installation was good too. I wasn’t here most of the day but my husband was and it went very smooth. They were very professional, on time, cleaned up everything and did their job really good. They said it might take two days but they were finished in one day and it wasn't even very late, maybe by 4 o'clock. One of the favorite features is all the jets and my skin is much softer. I like the fact that it drains so fast. I also like the looks of it. They did a really good job putting it in so it looks like it's always been there.

But the next day I got in it and I had to practically put my whole body against the wall to close that door. It was the same when I get my wife in the walk-in tub. We don't like the door because it is very hard for us to close while we're in there. We have to practically sit down to do that. It's a pain. I talked to Mike, the guy who sold us the tub. I asked if there was any way that we could put the door on the outside and he said no because of the pressure.

They explained everything about the operation of the unit and they cleaned up. We were very lucky because there was not a lot of change needed to be made because we were replacing a Jacuzzi tub. So the walk-in tub fits into our desired area. My favorite feature right now is the MicroSoothe. It’s a very fine bubble experience that helps with cleansing your skin. I was under the impression when I decided on Safe Step that they could build it personally for me and they didn't have to tear out anything. I went with them because of that despite having two other estimates come out and those were both a lot cheaper. However, when the guys got here to install, they had to tear out stuff so I was kind of disappointed with that. Now I have to go in and repaint and all this crap. And when they put the little electrical thing so you don't get electrocuted, it was crooked. I had to have somebody come out and put an itty-bitty dab of caulking that they missed. But it took almost two weeks to get ahold of somebody and for them to call me back. They said they were gonna call me on a certain day but they were two days late. I wasn't real happy with the service.

It would have been nice if they returned calls in a timely manner. There was one day I called them to get a repairman out to put in that little bit of caulking and I talked to one woman who told me to hang on. All of a sudden, another woman comes on and wants the same information. They said somebody would be getting ahold of me, which would have been the next day Thursday, but I never heard from anybody. I also went on to their website and I was texting with somebody there. I told him I needed somebody to get a hold of me. They gave me a different phone number from what I had. They tried as hard as they could. The salesman would tell you one thing but the guys that really put in the tub should be the ones selling the product because they know what they can and can't do.

Other than that, I'm really happy with the tub and it does what it's supposed to do. I hadn't taken a bath in probably 30 years so that was nice. But the installers had a tough time installing it so the little bit of lesson I got on how to operate it was really quick and I had to figure things out myself after getting sprayed in the face a couple of times. I got it down now.

I like that Safe Step made just one product and it was made in Tennessee. I live in Tennessee. I liked the product and that was just the only product they made. They weren't diversified. Their sales rep was very good. He did a good job. The installation experience was kinda mixed though. I didn't think they did the greatest job. I had to have them call back to do recaulking. When they came back, they did the recaulking. But then they left a flashlight and I called the number and told their guy that he could come and pick it up. He never did. So I still have his flashlight. It's a Milwaukee 12-volt Halogen flashlight. I'm not gonna waste my time getting it back to him. I've given him a call and told him it was here. They did a satisfactory job, but not an exceptional job.

As far as the walk-in tub, I like the microbubble. I had difficulty with electrical connection the first time, and I had him come back and fix that. There was a disconnect on the power. But other than that, it was okay. Overall, my experience with Safe Step was very good. I was going to finance a portion. It was for a $10,000 loan. I had an 850 credit rating but they didn't approve my loan because I had an elderly abuse person have me cosign on a loan, which they defaulted on and I got hung with it. That brought my credit rating down, but I had a perfect credit rating. And for a $10,000 loan, they disapproved it and they wouldn't seek another loan for me. So I had to use my savings to pay off the balance, which bothered me because that left me with no savings, which I didn't appreciate. $10,000 is nothing with my credit rating and I've got a $350,000 mortgage and I'm paying $2,000 a month on that and I've never missed a payment.

We love the person from Safe Step. She was so efficient. She explained everything beforehand and told us exactly what we could expect. I've been in contact with her numerous times. The installation team was very efficient. They came in and got everything done in a day. They were very neat and clean. I don't know how they got the tub in and fixed my bathroom back up, but it was perfectly done. My whole bathroom is white, and there wasn't a fingerprint on anything. It was meticulous when they finished.

The gentlemen that put the tub in were very kind. They had come out several times. The first time they came, fortunately, it was so smart of them to have me to test the tub. So they put it out in the garage for me and let me walk in and get used to the tub. We discovered that maybe I could use the larger tub. So, I'm so thankful that they had that insight. While they were here, they gave us a few really good suggestions. They were so helpful, that went over and beyond the call of duty. I can't say enough about how knowledgeable they were. Then when they came back to actually put the tub in, I get infusion, and they came at a time that I was to have that and the doctor had recommended that I shouldn't have persons coming in and out of the house at that time. So, they agreed to come back at another time and put the tub in, and that's what they did.

With the pandemic, there were several things that happened that was beyond everyone's control. It was the storm that was out in Tennessee, that they got hit pretty hard, right at the time that our order was going in. So that was put off a little bit. Then, it was the pandemic that came right after that. That stunted things, but it ended up being put in right on time. As far as the walk-in tub, I love the aromatherapy. I use the water jets for my back and my legs. I had back surgery. So, I had a disc removed and I have two screws in my back. I've taken less pain medication, because now, when it gets pretty bad, I use my tub.

There was a stopper that made it so that when I open the door of the tub, it doesn't hit the wall. I showed that to the installer and said that the door doesn't even touch the wall. Instead, it would touch down elsewhere. The installers said they would get me another stopper but they have not done that. I wish I didn't buy the tub. It's very hard to get in and out of the tub. I had a car accident last October and I have been in terrible shape to be able to do anything. I just bought my home and it had a nice and big Whirlpool tub in it that I couldn’t get in and out of after the car accident. I finally had to buy the Safe Step tub. This is the best part for me. I have never heard anything like this. I had to use a walker and half the time, I can’t even walk. They gotta put me in a wheelchair, and so, my daughter went in and out of the bathroom when the installers were putting the walk-in tub in, but she didn’t pay any attention. Then later that day, I asked my daughter where the installers put my other tub because our friend gave that to my sister and they took it. I figured they probably put it out in my garage somewhere. I went with my daughter to the garage and look and make sure it wasn’t sitting somewhere that it would get damaged.

When the installer got done putting it in, I asked him about how to use it and he showed me a little bit about that. Then I called him up and said that they didn't put my toilet in the bathroom. He said there wasn't one ordered. I told him there is and it’s written on the paperwork. At first, Troy said he was gonna put in two toilets and then, he knocked it down to one. Then the $800 shower thing that goes on it, couldn’t be done in my house for some reason. That was part of the deal and I’ve seen the advertisement on TV. I guess that was why he was gonna put in two taller toilets for me.

I got a hold of Troy. I told him about the toilet and my tub. He then asked me if I told anything with the installers about the tub, to remove it. I told him that I didn’t think I would have to tell them not to take my tub. He called the installers, and the way it ended up, he said that what they would do is the first time they get a tub from someone else’s house that the people didn’t want, he’d give that to me. I told him that didn’t make sense. They didn't understand, the Whirlpool tub belongs to me. They had no right to take my property. They should have at least asked me if I needed it disposed. There wasn’t anything wrong with it. It was quite new, but I just couldn’t use it because I couldn’t get in and out.

With regards to the toilet, he said that he'd come and put it himself. But at any rate, I never heard from him, and I really need that toilet. I have called Safe Step and left several messages on that 800 number. I wanted to talk to someone about it and see if I’m gonna get my free toilet, or if I need to go ahead and have somebody install one. I don't know what to do.

I really like everything about my tub so far. It is wonderful for me because I couldn’t step up to get in. My whole right side has been numb since the car accident. But I don’t really know anything about it. I notice sometimes after I take a bath, I can be off in the other room and I’ll hear it running and then it cuts itself off. I don't know if it's supposed to do that or not. I thought maybe that has something to do with it draining. I’ve heard it do that twice now. Maybe it's supposed to do that afterwards when it finishes. But I wanna make sure that it’s correct.

I went to two competitors and I was getting ready to do the third one. I just wasn't satisfied with what the first one had to offer for the dollar amount that they were charging. The third one was the other one that was on TV, and it looks good on TV. I canceled my appointment with them once the guy came from Safe Step. I like the one he gave me. They had three different types of Safe Step walk-in tubs: the bottom level, middle level, and the higher level which had the temperature monitor on the tub. I didn't have that because that was a little bit more than what I wanted to spend. They gave me the one which had the jets. I like the way it looked. I knew it was expensive, but the price seemed fair and adequate.

When I picked the one, the guy said that because my shower is on this side and the door is here, they would have to get it made with the tub turned around so that the shower is on the other end. I was worried about how would the shower work if the original one was on that face. He said that they run things under the bottom of the tub so I won't have a problem with it. It'd be working correctly, and it is. The guy who put it in was very knowledgeable of what he was doing. He explained everything, how it worked, what knob is for what, and all these.

However, I didn't know that the water would go cold coming in prior to filling all the way up to the top to where the level where it’s supposed to be. If it won't be filled up above the jets, water would go everywhere when turning it on, and I don't want that. He said I could use the other jets for the legs and down in the tub where I anchor my feet without turning the one for the backs on. That's good, but if I wanna use the ones for the back, the water level has to be above those jets.

I only used it one time because the water was cold by the time it got to the first level of jets for the back and I didn't wanna be letting all that water go in the tube and it's cold. Then I would hardly have any warm water in the tub to take a bath because all the cold water going in will make the warm water that’s already in there make that cold. That's the problem I have with it right now. I don't know whether I need to get a bigger tank. But the guy told me I should be okay with the tank that I have. I was gonna call the number that they gave me and I haven't yet.

My parents are not as excited as I thought they would be about the Safe Step walk-in tub that I ordered for them. I'm an occupational therapist and we recommend step-in tubs. Dennis, the rep who came out for Safe Step, told us about all the great features the tub has. How the door would swing in and how the tub would make bubbles all sounded wonderful. I loved the filter as well as fact that the tub is made in the US. The fact that it has a warranty for parts and labor for my parent's lifetime was a big selling point. My parents don't have to go from one place to the other to find a repair person.

However, there are so many bells and whistles and nobody took the time time to explain that to my parents when the tub was installed. They have no idea how to use it. Also, when they put the jets on, the water splashes all over the place and makes a huge mess. That is a huge fall hazard. My parents are older and they don't know about computers and what buttons to press. I'm hoping someone would go to my parents and show them how to use it. I'm going to them to see if I can figure out what the problem is. I don't want my parents to fall. Them having to sit and wipe water is a big red flag for me.

The Safe Step tub is a very expensive piece of equipment and a lesson on how to utilize it is really important. If I am to spend $16,000 on a tub, I need to be able to use it properly. I would love to be able to recommend Safe Step to my patients. However, if my parents are not happy with the tub, I don't know if I would be able to recommend it to other people.

The sales representative was very professional and knowledgeable. The installers did a great job. I wasn't here during any of that, I was at work, but they completed it all in one day and it looked very good. I like everything about the walk-in tub so far. I called up Safe Step and customer service was very good. The rep explained the product very well. We also had to learn ourselves. But I got all the directions and how to clean it. And then the installation was okay. I was right there watching as much as I could. They sealed the tub then used a chemical. I couldn't use the tub for 24 hours because of the stuff they put on it. Everything came out fine.

The only thing was the rep didn't tell me the information if there was a leak. I called up Safe Step up last week or week before and told them to give me a ring to get the walk-in tub repaired. The tub doesn't drain when the tub is full of water. It only does it when the water's going down into the drain. Now, I gotta put a towel and I look over it to catch the water. When I open the tub up afterwards after I finished and water is going down, I look over that and there's water on the towel. It's not that much water and it's not overflowing, but it's enough.

I've been waiting for Safe Step to call so I can get a man to come over and check it. I made a work order for it. I called them up. We've had appointments all this month except the 22nd and 23rd. This is the 23rd and I have nothing going on. I told them I would be here the rest of those two days for them to come over here and look at the issue. I didn't care what time or what day. Now, I gotta go to the doctor tomorrow at 11:15. I want someone to come over here and check the tub because I've got a sick feeling that it’s not sealed right. I've cleaned it underneath and got all the dirt in the seal. I clean it up every day and I wipe it down. But that issue aside, I like it my walk-in tub especially on my legs and my knees. I'm satisfied.

The sales rep was a super nice guy and the thing that I liked about Safe Step is that it had that overhead shower head on. The installation was also all fine and very efficient. A gentleman and his two sons out of Tennessee came and we had a good time putting that thing in. However, the gentleman had a problem because the unit he was supposed to put in here wasn’t where it was supposed to be and he had to go to the warehouse and get it so he didn't get here until the afternoon on the first day. So he came back the next day and finished up.

Afterwards, I contacted Safe Step because the drain wouldn’t hold itself up and then when we would adjust the shower head where we want it, when we turn the water on, it would go all the way to the ceiling. The people I was talking to didn't know the service guy was on vacation so it took a couple weeks. But he came and fixed the shower head for everyone, including myself. He also worked on the drain and held it up. Now, when I get in, get the tub full of water and get all the jets going, I can’t make myself get out. It's so relaxing. I still haven’t figured out how not to get so much water on the outside but I'll figure that out. I’m real happy with the tub.

It takes 60 gallons of water to even come close to getting a bath and that doesn't cover you above your waist. I had to turn my thermostat all the way up and cut it down. If I talk to anyone, I would not recommend they buy one unless they have a 50 gallon water heater minimum, and most homes don’t have that. They moved our towel rack over that was in the way and they did a really excellent job all in one day. I also enjoyed talking to them.

The tub is what they said it was and we really like it. It's very safe 'cause I don't wanna take any chance with her falling. It has this bar that you can hold while you're taking a shower. Safe Step's name was what I went for. One of the guys that put the tub in wasn't very friendly. The other was all right. He said that I had to wait two days and take my bath. I waited about five days and then I had water all over the floor. So I had to make them come out. They came yesterday and said he redone the drain.

I thought I was getting something good by the reputation of Safe Step. Also, they didn't get me what I told them I needed. I needed an outer door open when you step into it. Instead, the door pushes inward. They told me that they didn't make them. But I know darn well they do. I am not pleased with them for not giving me what I ordered. I should just go ahead and make them take it out and go somewhere else. For $14,000, it ain't cheap, and you ain't got nothing on it but the tub and the water coming through. I ain't very satisfied with them. Another thing was when the salesman came here to sign everything up, he told me he needed the code words to my computer to get into it. I didn't understand that and I asked him why he needed to have it. He said that the company needed it.

My husband and I are getting older and we purchased a walk-in tub for safety. The Safe Step rep we worked with was very good. However, the installation didn't go so well for us. The first time I sued the tub, I filled it up then got ready to get out. I started to drain it and all of a sudden there was water running out of our commode and flooding our bathroom. Plus, the tub was draining really slowly. It was installed properly but was not tested properly. There is even a sticker on the tub that says it should be tailed and drained. I called Safe Step and asked if we needed to get a plumber out. I was told that they have a plumber with them and that they were gonna put in a six-inch drain so there would be no problem.

When the installer came out, I told him that I didn't understand how putting in a wider drain was gonna solve the problem. The man told me that putting in a bigger drain would take care of the issue. It didn't and I had to sit in the bathtub for three hours before it got drained. My husband had to bail the water out with a bucket. Safe Step doesn't seem all that concerned about issues once their tub is installed and paid for. We had our plumber out and he took care of the issue and the tub has been working since then. I like that with it, I'm able to sit and soak. I like the jets of the tub as well. I'm satisfied with the tub.

When I got papers from the bank that they used, they had charged me the full price instead of the price that the rep had quoted us. That made me mad. When I talked to the rep about it, he said that I could pay the amount owed anytime I wanted. Regardless, they're still charging me interest on that amount.

I told the rep that I wasn't going to accept the tub. He told me that I didn't have a choice. I told him I did and he said he'll have to redo things. Safe Step sent me the discount where we had financed things but then they still left the interest rate on it. I accepted the tub then I went to my bank and got a much lower interest rate on the loan for it. Currently, I love my walk-in bathtub and I have no qualms about it.
