I wanted a tub and the Safe Step salesman talked me into it. He's a nice fellow and a fast talker. The installer was also very talented. He did a nice job putting the tub in and had it done quickly, too. I like the jets especially on my back after I work a while. I'm 80 years old so I have a lot of pains. My tub helps take care of them and I feel better after I get out of it. I would recommend them but they could improve their tub by having more jets. I'd also like to set a thermostat gauge in it to tell the temperature of the water and a clock to tell me how long have I've been in or how long I've been doing this and that.

I compared the Safe Step tub with Jacuzzi and another one and Safe Step was the better-looking one. The salesman was truthful. He can sell the tub to an Eskimo in the North Pole. The installation team was outstanding, too. When I walked in I was amazed. I couldn't see a hole, crack or mess. They should be given an award for their expertise and it didn't take them long to do it, too. When I walk into the tub, I know I'm going to have a nice, soothing, go-to-sleep bath. And I do go to sleep sometimes. It's really a gorgeous-looking tub. The only thing I don't like about it is it takes too much water.

I definitely wouldn’t recommend Safe Step. It's nice but it's not big enough. When a person that weighs 205 or 210 pounds stuffs himself in that little spot, that doesn’t work out really good. So they ought to put a little warning on that, in my opinion. Also the installation team was good until they left and I had some torn wallpaper in about three places. And one of their repairs, where they took it out, it tore a big piece out. They fixed it but it didn't look real good.

I had seen Safe Step over a period of time on the AARP magazine but I was never in a position to own one because they were expensive. I put it on the back burner thinking someday I'd like to get one. I've seen it one time advertised on TV again, and that caught my attention to it even more. And then, I decided to call. I had a very nice representative come and then I went ahead and decided to buy it that day. The installation team was very nice and were very sufficient. They did a good job, so I'm very satisfied. I like the tub but I don't use it everyday. It uses a lot of water, but so far I've been enjoying it and everything that it's doing is beneficial. I like using it for my back because that's where my problems lie.

I watched the commercial, makes me laugh when I see them demonstrate and they get in there with their clothes on. And sitting there, they're all dressed up ready for their photo shoot. But the one picture there, when she shows her head lain back, I don't see that happening in the tub because it's a sitting tub. So I don't know how she positioned her head unless she slid down somewhat. I'm quite agile yet and I have done that. So I was able to scoot down and let the water come up to my neck. Otherwise, I can't use the jets until that water has covered the jets in the back. The tub's a little slow when filling but maybe that's all the water pressure I get here at this house. But I like the warm seat so it doesn't bother me. I'm sitting comfortably as the water's filling up so I’m going to be enjoying it.

My Safe Step tub was installed Monday, two weeks ago. The installers were super and did the whole job nicely in about eight hours. They took the whole tub out, put the new one in, tried it out, and worked it all up. However, I've been trying to get a hold of them in Tennessee because I can't get the instruction manual for it. It didn't come with it and they won't send me one. I've had the local salesman that sold it to me call them, too.

Their sales rep was very nice. He showed us some pictures and told me all about it. I knew that it was time that I needed something safer to shower in. Installation team was nice and quick. They were here for whole day scheduled as a clock and got it all done. With Safe Step, it's a lot easier and comfortable to get into the shower. The bubbles are soothing and everything feels good. I like it a lot. However, I started out having numb feet and they said they would call about a month or so to see if it was hurting in the end. When I used the jet, it helps a little bit more each time.

My Safe Step tub is wonderful and I love it. The guy who installed it went over and beyond what was necessary. He was amazing and kind which made the whole experience even better. I like that I could sit down, walk in, sit and have a wonderful warm bath. I can also choose whether I want to use the teeny tiny bubbles or only use the regular one or sometimes I alternate them. I love the color therapy as well, but I don't know where to get more of these aromatherapy things. They should have given samples of all of them so I could choose which one I like. That would be the way to start that off. Other than that, it's amazing and I'm moving 100% better than I did.

We ripped out our other shower and used the Safe Step Tub instead, and my wife says that her legs feel better after using it. It also benefits me due to certain health conditions, so I also enjoy it. Of course we didn't enjoy the immense expense, and there’s a few things that we found wrong about it. We also hit the plunger that’s so close to the door many times when trying to get out of it, which makes it go, so I have to have a solid place to put my hand since the water switch is in the way. It should be moved. Even though it was explained to us, I think there could be more information on each of the switches since we have to keep some of those switches that turn different things on. When in the tub, I have to turn around from the seat to use the buttons. They’re not well placed, and they could have been in one spot, that way I don’t have to turn around right, left, and back just to use the buttons.

We will also have to call Safe Step to see if they would come over to add a wooden shelf because the unit is too low, and the water gathers in there. There’s a quarter inch of water along one side, which is not too good and the tub’s a little smaller than the opening. I also found out that if I’m in the step-in, the door is in the way, and it’s so wide that I have no place to step back because of the seat. Other than this, the tub’s a quality product, it does some of the things it’s supposed to do, and the company has tried to make it very useful in that it works for a lot of people, but personally I wouldn’t have paid that amount and in some respects, it’s cumbersome and isn’t easy to clean due to its depth.

We called Safe Step to get an estimate. The sales guy showed us all the other stuff from other people who we ended up having appointment to come give us an estimate too. He pointed out several differences like for instance another company offers a cosmetic-looking wise where the hand nozzle is hidden and is connected to the bathtub itself. You don't need a rod on your wall, so we liked that. It comes with heated seats and little air bubble things and none of that's gonna be offered separately. It all comes together with one price so we decided to say, "Okay, go ahead do that."

Everything went well with the construction. They were all on time, I love the tub, and I would recommend them. The only problem is the communication after installation. Up to this day, I don't have a bill. I haven’t had anybody call me after everything's done to see how it’s going and if I received my first invoice. I don't really have a lot of time to track them down and I surely don't want any negative credit reports, but I don't have a point of contact to call for the financial side of it.

It took a while to be approved, but when it did, they let me know when it was scheduled to be put in, and sure enough it was put in within three days. I was happy. They knew exactly what they were doing and I was really impressed with the way they worked together and how they cleaned up after themselves. I've called their customer service, even the saleslady that sold us the tub, and they told me they're working on it. It is very frustrating because we have a time limit to pay for this, otherwise they will zap you with a horrendous interest rate and I'm not going to pay that. We've been real satisfied with Safe Step so far. The sales rep was very good. He was very thorough and helpful, and we just fell in love with him. The installation took them a little bit longer but I'm sure because they had some modifications to make. Both gentlemen were also good and thorough. I like the jets, I probably use it maybe a couple of times a week. My legs hurt and my feet hurt, and I like the jets more than anything on my feet. When I would do the knob to turn it to release, it would flop back and it would stop. And the two guys that did the installation told my husband about it, that sometimes you have to make a little adjustment on the release to let the water out. It worked fine while they were here, but you know sometimes it takes things a while to set in right.

Overall, we've just had a real good experience with Safe Step. We got it for the future, when we get older. It's just easier as you age to get into a tub than a shower. Safe Step installed the tub quickly but they didn’t do that good of a job because they didn’t level it up, so I had to call them back. So the installer was back today and he was good although it took me four days to get him here and it wasn’t really his fault. I wouldn’t have gotten him until next week if I hadn’t pressured him bad. I got to do that because I have company coming in the weekend and I need to get this trimmed out by tomorrow and get the shower right up so that everybody is going to be able to take a bath. They didn’t have to trim it out because I’ve got a bathroom that I wanted to do, and I want to keep the country cottage look. All they had to do was just carry the older tub out and throw that one in. But without them leveling it up a little better, I couldn’t put my trim on. I paid $** for a damn bathtub, and when you pay that much money for it, you expect premium service.

The sales rep from Safe Step was very knowledgeable. The only issue we had was we had ordered it around Father's Day and we thought it was going to be coming in at that time, but it didn't come in until a week and a half later. The salesman told us, "Okay, I'll let you know", and then I had to call and find out when it was coming. From Tennessee they called me and said, "Oh, no, it'd be like four weeks." So we thought it would be four weeks, but it turned out to be six weeks. We even had to change our schedule around my brother who wanted to take that day off to make sure that he was there when it was done.

Also, we did have to call in because my dad is 91 years (he has a home healthcare lady) and he's slipping on the bathtub. We bought mats but nothing will stick and they said it's non-slipping but it's not. So I put a call in to Tennessee just this week, and they said that the production manager knows what to order and they're supposed to then get in touch with our local man and they're gonna come out and try to install something on the floor so it's not so slippery. Moreover, my brother had his walk-in shower put in by another company and it was cheaper and sturdier than Safe Step. But besides those things, it’s serving the purpose so we’re content with it.

Also, we're gonna repaint and the caulking needs to be redone already on one end. Moreover, the tub may have settled down a bit, so I'm going to get a service call on it. Sales representatives from Safe Step Walk-in tub were all very nice. The installation was done within a day so that was fine. But I'm a little disappointed with a couple of things. One is that when the bubble bath comes on, it was shooting all over the bathroom so that wasn't good. Customer rep told me that it wouldn't do that if the tub is full with water. He said the water had to be as high as all those jets on the back seat. I don't think if I were to conceive of a tub like that, that it needs to be full of water in order to get the full benefit out of it. And that is a lot of water. Also, there are some buttons that either didn't work at all or didn't work the way I thought they should, but it's a new object that I have to get used to. So I did call them the other day because I didn't know how to use all the buttons to their best advantage. I asked if they could send me a step-by-step instruction booklet and the rep said he would do that.

I’m in love with my Safe Step tub. I’ve had some nice experiences, but I had to learn some things when using the tub. One of the things that frustrated me a little bit was I like to put my arms out and relax, and every time I do that, the buttons for the bubbles either turns on or off. So I have to not put my arms up anymore and I keep forgetting to do that. But as far as comfort, it’s very nice and very easy to get in and out of the tub.

Another thing that I had to remember is to make sure to lock the door. I have diabetes and sometimes my feet are cold and I can’t get them warmed up. One night I had gotten out of bed, went into the tub and put a small amount of water in the tub - just enough to cover my feet to get them warmed up. I had the door closed but I didn’t have it completely locked. And because of getting up in the night, I had water all over the floor.

Moreover, the sales reps that we talked to didn't take long to get their point across, and my husband was pleased because they gave us a very nice veteran's discount. We had shopped around before and none of the other companies offered us that. The discount was one extra nice thing that we got from Safe Step, and it's the reason why we purchased the tub because it brought down the price enough that we were able to afford it. The installers were very courteous, nice and speedy. I was surprised that they put it in in the length of time that they did. The tub has a beautiful appearance, and looks like it was built there from the beginning. They cleaned up their mess, and left everything like it was a brand new bathroom.

But the sales representatives were very good, and the installers, Patrick and Nick, were awesome, kind and went through everything with me.

I am not really nuts about the tub. I have a hard time getting in it through the door. When I talked to one of my friends, she paid $8,000 for her tub and I told her I ended up paying $13,300 for mine. I really feel like it was a rip-off, and I should have investigated other tubs. I only use the tub once or twice a week, and I can’t see people staying in it a whole hour. It takes 15 minutes to fill up, and I’m set in there for 20 minutes. I'm very unhappy with Safe Step. I wish I had never bought it. I have no objection to the actual tub. It was just the installation - we have been very inconvenienced. We received the tub on Wednesday night, July 22nd. Todd and a helper came in early. They worked all day and they ran into some problems, and they kept going back to town for this and that. They got through about 8 o'clock that night and as he left, he said "I assure you. I can promise you that it will not leak."

Well, it didn't leak so the next day, I took a bath and was happy with it. When I got out, my husband decided he would take a bath. We'd try it out. So he got in and first thing I knew, he was started hollering to me for a towel. I went to get it to him and walked through water above my ankles. The tub was not leaking but the connection between the tub and the water from the main water from outside that feeds the house, the connector had come loose. It flooded our house and everything got soaked.

I called the man who sold it to us, Kip **, and he assured me he'd had me some help in shortly. So Todd called because he had gotten the word. And he told me he was sending me a plumber and Safe Clean, who would dry it up. The plumber came that night and Safe Clean came. The plumber immediately found the problem, got the right thing and hooked it up. And we've had no problem since. But it seems to me that Todd could've done it in the first place - to put the correct connector there, but he didn't. Safe Clean came and helped my husband clean up all the water and they lift everything out of the way of the water. They brought in 12 heating apparatuses. I still couldn't get into my bedroom. We slept in chairs. Our furniture and everything we have is piled up on the dining room table or in the living room. And that's been July 23 and it's already August.

We've called and Todd kept assuring us that his insurance company was going to come and do some evaluation but we haven’t seen the insurance inspector to assess this damage. And now we can't even get a hold of Todd. We've left messages for him to please call us. We got him a couple of times early on and he was very apologetic and he assured me that the insurance company would be in contact with me and he was working. And finally, yesterday, I had reached my limit with him and indicated to him that if I did not get an answer by this morning, that I would do what I had to do. I've gone with State Farm to get them to come in and cover the cleanup, damages and repairs.

It's definitely frustrating to see the mess and know that it's got to be cleaned up and nobody is interested. I liked Todd because he really worked and tried hard but he just didn't get what needed to be done. What Safe Step should do with him and all other installers is have them to prove that they've got credible insurance to cover themselves so that Safe Step won't have to go and put up with people like them. Now I'm waiting for State Farm to come through and go ahead and get started.

We, my wife and I purchased the product back in mid-April and it was installed the first week of May. We had some concerns after the contract was written and at the time of installation. During the time of the prep and install, the contractor team that they used removed the door frame between our bedroom and bathroom to get the tub and parts through. After the install of the tub and the re-assemble of the door frame they only put it back together partially leaving it in poor condition, no caulking on the inside areas. As well around the areas of the tub they left gaps and holes that should have been caulked. We took photos contacted the company, e-mailed the photos to the team's boss or supervisor and still have not heard from Safe Step concerning resolving this matter.

The product is fine. There are some things that could be done differently such as the design of the door as well as where the shower head is located. Also, we were quite disturbed at the fact that after the interest they then tell you about the need for a special high capacity water heater or an alternative. Would we recommend it? Perhaps yes since it can offer a better experience for aging persons and persons with disabilities but pricing is a bit excessive and should be negotiated. Overall it's a good product that offers a great benefit but they need to do better to inform customers about the requirements as well as the construction requirements and provide corrective solutions when their construction teams create problems.

On January 28, 2015 my wife and I contracted with Safe Step Walk-In Tub Co to have a Safe Step Walk-In Tub installed for a total of $14,236.00. It was recommended in writing that we have a 50-gallon water heater installed. We purchased and installed a Brasscraft Electric Hybrid Water Heater that cost an additional $1,294.32. We contacted the company once with the complaint that the water was running off one end of the tub onto the floor and we could only get enough warm water to come 3 quarters of the way to the seat.

They came and installed a splash guard on the end of the tub and it was recommended that we set the water heater to the "high usage" setting. This still does not work and we can only fill the tub (while in it) up to the seat which makes the jets and other features of the tub useless. We basically ended up with a very expensive, very small walk in shower. This tub does not even come close to meeting our needs and was misrepresented by the salesperson Bruce **. We have discovered that there are many other consumers with the same complaint. It seems that the Safe Step Walk-In Tub Co is preying on the elderly and disabled.

I bought the tub from Safe Step but the salesperson did not tell me I needed a 60-gallon water heater. There is a paragraph stating they recommend this and there is a spot to be initialed by the customer showing the customer understand this. The salesperson did not ask me to initial this line and he wrote in "Supply". When I complained about the tub and wanted to get my money back, they said it was used and wouldn't do anything about it. I feel deceived and cannot afford a bigger water heater and I feel I should have been told about this. They said that if Safe Step had installed the tub themselves, then I would have had to initial that paragraph, but they had given me the number of a person who installs their tubs who works independently and I contacted him to install it.

Now, conveniently for them they say that legally they didn't have to get my initials since this person they recommended installed it. This is outrageous. This company should have made it clear I would need a 60-gallon water heater. I am 83 years old and have wasted so much money on this tub that I can't even use. The tub we chose was 51"x31" and our 40 gallon water heater is fine. The installation crew (4) were very professional and had obviously installed hundreds of these tubs. The tub is totally commercial grade and is assembled with Aircraft-grade aluminum, and Delta plumbing components. In doing my research I found that many of the top tubs were rated that way because of price and that lower price was due to Chinese construction and limited warranties. Ours is made in America, and guaranteed for life. Few tubs can match just these two factors!

Updated on 4/15/2019: Safe Step Tubs company NEVER corrected any of the problems, I have lost over 100lb’s and still can not get past the door without hurting my legs, the wall seams are jagged and crooked, received 1 phone call to send someone out and all they did was make promises to fix the error but no one ever came back out to fix anything. We’re Senior citizens and feel we have been ripped off by this company, others BEWARE of this company. How can people be so greedy these days..... I see others have had problems and a reply that is just repeated over and over. We’re so unhappy and afraid to ever buy anything again this expensive, very over priced!

Original Review: I cannot get anyone to answer my registered letter due to them making the Deluxe size tub that I wanted 31 x 51" & instead the salesman dimensions choice 28" x 51", he said that the larger size is not necessary & made it 28"x51" & that makes the seat to close to the door for a 280lb person and the salesman even took my body measurements and I can not get between the seat & door to close it. I wanted the bigger tub but the salesman said to trust him I'll fit, if their is any problems just call, I called and been told he died and now no one is helping to solve their error! Contractor also damaged our main wall and I had to pay half for another panel to hide the damage and that it also was not done correctly.

In December 2014 we purchased a Safe Step tub at which time the salesman, Mr. ** informed us that we would need a 50 gal. hot water heater (we had a 40 gal. at that time ). Once the tub was installed I went to home depot and purchased a 50 gal. water heater, had it delivered and installed. After several hours, to insure the water was at the correct temp., I decided to try out the tub. To my utter amazement, I ran out of hot water prior to the tub reaching an operational level. Therefore I could not use the tub unless I wanted to sit and wait for the water to re-heat. Shortly after that incident, I called the service dept. and explained the situation and what the salesman had told me.

After a lengthy discussion and the manager (in so many words calling me a liar), I told him to send a technician to my house and verify what I was saying was true. After a few weeks a technician arrived and checked the tub and verified what I said was true. I showed him my contract where the salesman had written that I required a 50 gal. water heater and he said 'I see that a lot'. Now, I am told that I need an 80 gal. water heater in order for the tub to function correctly. I am not happy with the company nor their lying staff. I sent a letter to the CEO and the letter was returned to me!!!

I have had the safe step walk in tub for almost a year. My wife loves the tub but I have several concerns. Tub has six water jets located high on the back seat of the tub. The tub must be completely full to utilize these jets otherwise the water sprays out and on to the floor. Even then the water is so full with the jets on it bubbles over the top. My wife has slipped several times when getting out of the tub. They need to redesign the locations of the jets or eliminate the top two jets. In addition the tub has a heated seat, if you don't turn the heat off before the water drains below the seat you can get a light burn. With the cost of the tub and the claims the manufacture makes this tub should be perfect. My neighbor purchase a similar tub different manufacture and the tub appears to be as good at about $3000 less. So future buyers beware.

The salesman came to our home and stated that we would require a 40 gallon hot water tank. He then removed the panel to view our tank and found that we have a 40 gallon tank. We purchased the Safe Step Tub. After some delivery issues we tried to cancel the purchase before the tub was installed. Safe Step told us they would SUE for 1/3 of the purchase and installation cost.??? They installed the tub. Looks great BUT we can't use it. 40 Gallons of hot water doesn't fill the tub or allow you to use the jets. The tub needs 60 gallons. I just called Safe Step customer service and was told the tub "requires a minimum 50 gallon tank but that might not be. Please call service." I have several times, no one, ever answers.
