Friends of ours got their tubs put in through Safe Step and they talked about how good of a job they've done, how good the crew was and how nice it worked. So we also went with Safe Step. The guy who came to the house and the service team that put the tub in were great. My client, Leslie, likes being able to sit down and take a bath in the tub. She doesn't use the lights much but likes everything about the tub. We were well pleased with all of it and have actually recommended them to a couple of other people.

I thought that buying a Safe Step tub would be a lot easier for my husband because he has a hard time getting around. The rep told us we’d be able to take a shower in the tub. He was a good salesman and a nice person, but he started telling us all this stuff that the tub does. We were glad to see all that stuff that it does because my husband and I both got bad bodies, but we’re used to taking a shower. And I thought my husband could take a shower easier, but we haven’t been able to because we don’t have a curtain rod and we can’t seem to find one. So we’ve been very dissatisfied. For somebody that takes a bath all the time and never takes showers, this would be great for them. But if I had my time to go over, I wouldn’t have gotten it and I would have gotten a big shower. The deal’s $11,000 for something that was not what I thought it was going to be.

The Safe Step sales representative was a nice guy and he bent over backwards to help. The installation guys were courteous, nice men and they showed my husband how to use the tub. But we had some difficulties because they didn't readjust the door that goes to the shower room that's part of the house. It still doesn't shut all the way, but that's okay because John, the guy that's supposed to have been in charge, is going to come out one day and replace that door.
I like the jets at the bottom that help my feet as my toes are numb from neuropathy. Those jets sure bring them back to life. But other than that, I don't see where it does much good. Now that I've got to use the tub a bit, I'm not particularly crazy about it. It takes so long to get enough water in it. If you have to get out for anything, you can't, unless, you let all the water out. Then, you have to fill it up again. So I'm not really pleased with it. It's not as good as I thought it would be, and to me, it turned out to be quite a disappointment.

When I called Safe Step Walk-in Tubs, I found out that they did their own installation and that's one of the things that I considered. Their sales rep has been good and their installation team was excellent, too. I really like the fact that I can get in the tub because I couldn't get in it before. I can finally have a 'jacuzzi' and that works wonders on my back.

We’re in our sixties and it’s easier to walk into a tub as opposed to climbing into one. A lot of the other walk-in tubs are made outside of the United States, unlike the Safe Step. Whenever possible, I try to keep the money flowing in the country. Safe Step also has a lifetime warranty for as long as I own this unit, which some of the others did not. Then I looked at the aesthetics and for some reason, I liked Safe Step better. I also hate hard sell, and their rep wasn't like that. The rep just went through the benefits of having a unit like this. I like the price, too.
The installation team was great and very professional. They removed my old tub and took it away without any additional fees. They did a wonderful job of making sure that it didn’t look like a Tom and Jerry type of finish. When they left, they picked up all the trash that was a result of the installation. The unit has been absolutely wonderful. We like it. I try to use it at least once a week, but my husband uses it more often. My favorite is the shower head. I can take a shower in it if I want to, as opposed to having to only take sit-down baths. It comes with a bidet which is great and I like the heated seat, too. My husband's favorites are the jets and the microbubbles. We have recommended Safe Step tub to our friends.

My granddaughter and my daughter purchased Safe-Step Walk-in tub so I wouldn't fall getting in the tub. I was just listening to the sales representative and he was pretty good. He explained everything. The installation team was wonderful, too. They'd done such a beautiful job putting it in. I couldn't believe they could take down my old shower as fast as they did, but they were through before dark. I love the looks of it and my daughter filled it up one time so I know what it can do. Since I fill the tub up, my water bill started jumping over $50 so I should quit doing that. It takes too much water at this time and I can't just fill the tub up just for me since I live here by myself. One time, I had it half full and it sprayed all over the bathroom but that was my fault. So I just take a shower in there which is my favorite feature. It just take me longer to take a shower.

My husband and I learned about Safe Step from the American Legion Club. We were concerned about the leakage around the tub and they swore that we'll never get a leakage. So, they vouched for it. Their sales rep was very respectful and accommodating on whatever questions we had. He answered them upfront. Their installation team was professional, too. When we had a little crack in the tub, we called up the company and they came out within 24 hours to repair it. We haven't used it long enough, but my 86-year-old husband has been using it more often than I do because he needs it. He likes everything about it. He's more relaxed and he said his skin is much clearer.

We bought a Safe Step walk-in tub since we like its features. The rep spent a lot of time showing us all the information and answering questions, and the installers were all professional, listened to what we had to say, and let us try it out before they finished up. My wife uses it as a shower and she sits on the heated tub. We're enjoying it. We like it and all the different features - the jets, the foam, the part that helps with psoriasis, and the bubbles. We're using everything. We've only used it a few times, and we're going to have to get a larger hot water heater. We've had an excellent experience.

They did a great job.

My wife had some strokes last year and that’s the reason we got the Safe Step Walk-in Tub. The first time my wife used it, she didn’t get the door closed all the way and it took down our living room and dining room ceilings. It was about $10,000 worth of damage. It was really bad. She had to be really motivated to use it a lot. She’s a little bit afraid of it. Other than that, we like the tub's bubbles and the action that it has and the placement of the jets – those are all very good. We don’t like how long it takes to fill, though. I need to get in and take a bath and the filling takes quite a bit of time. In addition, the sales guys were very professional and helpful as far as talking about the tub and its installation. Their installers were very good, very thorough, and they did a nice, clean job.

We called Safe Step, a man came out and we liked their product. The sales rep was pleasant and informative. The couple who came to install it were very kind, nice people. I had only a standup shower before and my husband had huge tub in his bathroom, a Jacuzzi. I could get in but I couldn’t get out. I really wanted to be able to take a bath. I like the tub that I got from Safe Step and it was nice. My husband tried it out last night for the first time and he liked it too. One thing though, the caulking, in a couple of places, needs to be redone. Overall experience was very good and positive. We were very impressed with all the people that we talked to.

Safe Step's sales rep was knowledgeable and informative, friendly but wasn’t pushy. It was a very satisfactory experience. The installers were excellent, too. They came in about 9:00 in the morning and left about 6:30. They did everything and it was just right. I like the jacuzzi-like action of the water in my walk-in tub. I’m 75 years old and I have osteoarthritis. I have a lot of problems with my bones hurting particularly when the weather changes suddenly like it has been here lately. I have the same amount of aches and pains but with the tub, I get rid of them faster when they occur.

The reps from Safe Step came out and talked about the company. Then, we just decided that sounded like what we were looking for. They answered all our questions and worked with us as we did the purchase. The installers installed the tub all in one day, cleaned up, and didn’t leave a mess. Since I started using the walk-in tub, I noticed that a few aches and pains have become lesser. The tub is relaxing and something that I needed. I also love the hot seat. We probably need a bigger hot water tank because it doesn’t take very long and there’s no hot water. Overall, it has been an outstanding experience.

The sales rep did a good presentation on the Safe Step product, and he had the tub in a truck, so I went into it and liked how it felt. The installation team came and installed it. They did explain how it worked but, instead of being rushed, they could have taken a little more time and told me what to do, but they didn't. Although it's a good product, I regret buying it because it's very expensive. I recommend that consumers shop around. I didn't shop around enough and that was my fault.

I searched for walk-in tubs and one company came out but said they didn't have a tub that would fit where my tub was, so they would redo my whole bathroom, which I didn't want. Then I found Safe Step who’ll build the tub that would fit the space I have and their tub was made in Nashville, Tennessee. They don't require redoing my whole bathroom as well. I told them what I was interested in and they called me back immediately and sent somebody out here. They were very responsive. And the tub is easy to keep clean. I like that I couldn't get in and out without the tub entrance. I’ll probably have to fall out of the tub on the floor. I'm very glad.

I’m a satisfied customer of Safe Step. I was going to explore other tub companies, but their salesman was pretty strong on letting me know that Safe Step was one of the best tubs there was and that it was American-made. However, the price is going to be hard on me. It was more expensive than I ever imagined, but I signed the paperwork when the salesman came out and never actually got other quotes on tubs. I love the whole thing and all the features but I haven’t been able to use its aromatherapy yet. I’m not sure how that works or maybe I don’t have enough water in the tub for it to work. Their installers were real good, too. They worked as a team and got everything done, but there was a little bit of miscommunication when I had wanted my door widened and that wasn’t relayed to them, so the door didn’t end up being widened.

We had a wonderful salesman. I had already decided that I was interested and he convinced me even more. He told us that the tub would probably take at least a day and a half to install. The installers, a carpenter and a plumber, did it in about half a day. They started around 8:00 and they were finished by about 1:30. They did an excellent job. We have a grandson who is a carpenter and when he looked at it, he said they did a good job installing the tub. I love our Safe Step walk-in tub, especially the jets. The tub's really good for arthritis, which I have. I only use it at night to soak before I go to bed. I do it once or twice a week.

We got a walk-in tub from Safe Step last month and I'm glad that we went ahead and did it. My dad truly likes it and I can see that he's very relaxed now when he takes a bath. What I like best about my new tub are the jets. The sales rep was very good, informative, cordial, friendly, and professional. The installers were very considerate. They've put down tarp on the carpet so they wouldn't make it dirty, and made sure they cleaned up the mess when they were all done. It was a good experience.

The important thing that interested me in Safe Step Walk-in Tubs company was that it's made in the country. Their sales representatives were courteous and the installation team were great as well. I have used the tub a couple of times and the entry option is a good thing. I don’t need to step over it. It's a nice tub and they've done a good job. I can shower or sit there and soak and be massaged by all the jets. It's a little overpriced for what it does but I've made a deal and I'm sticking with it. The on and off button is in the wrong place as it is placed right by the door and every time I want to go in or open and close the door, my left hand hits that button and the tub is turned on. Overall, I'll recommend Safe Step to a friend.

We had two different companies that we contacted to buy a tub like this, and we thought that the Safe Step walk-in tub was the better product. The presentation by the rep which he did on the television was a little boring and long, but he was very nice and knowledgeable and if we ask him a question he didn't have the answer to, he'd call somebody in his office and they have an answer to it. The installation team, on the other hand, was absolutely top notch. When they left, it looked like the tub had been there when the house was built- that's how beautiful the job they did. We were very happy with it. The walk-in tub is comforting, and I like the water jets. Additionally, my husband had spine surgery in September and he hasn't recuperated very well. It does give him a lot of comfort to have this. He's a bit more relaxed in using Safe Step walk-in tub.

I like everything about our Safe Step tub. It’s one of the best decisions I made, health-wise. I don’t feel as uncomfortable trying to get into the tub and I’m glad I bought it. I really couldn’t afford to do it when I did it but I figured, “Money is cheaper than broken bones.” The only thing is I got a payment date coming up pretty soon and I haven’t received the bill yet.

The salesperson gave me a list of health conditions that a Safe Step tub could be of help with, but not cure, of course. I then asked him to send me a copy of that list, but I never got it. This is a pretty elaborate machine and it has a lifetime warranty. It's pretty amazing. I'm 85 and my wife is 88, and a lot of old people fall down, and a lot of those occur in or out of the bathtub. Having this tub at least precludes from falling down going in and out of it.
Another good feature is the seat makes it easier to get up from the tub. But what's wrong with this tub is that the walls are too high and the entrance is narrow, so a 250lbs person would have a hard time getting in the tub. Another negative feature is, in a regular tub, you can fill it up first then you come inside the tub. But with the Safe Step, you go inside and watch the water rise. For the money that these things cost (and they are expensive), they should have a pump to push more water in and to fill it up faster.

I called Safe Step and we made an appointment. The sales rep was working the Charleston area and came on down to Huntington where I live. The reps were talking about all the discounts, and I ended up paying $12,000 for the walk-in tub, and that started getting into my savings. They weren't cheap. The tub's going to be worth the price eventually, but I've got to use it more. So far I've used it about once a week, since I alternate using it with the shower downstairs.
The installers were great. They came in and got all the work done in one day like what was promised. They told me to let the tub dry for another day or so before I used it. They had a lot of trouble carrying the tub upstairs and caused some wreck on the walls. Overall, however, it's been pretty good so far with Safe Step. The water bill has been astronomical around here because of the tub, but it's nice when I get in there.

I had a very nice experience with Safe Step. Their reps were great - did their work and left. I haven't been able to get in the tub for a while because of arthritis though. It's good having a shower beat down hot water on me but it's a little better just to lie in the tub. One morning when I was hurting bad, I took a hot bath and it did help the pain. I like the water jets, too. The heated seat is also nice. It probably wouldn't matter so much in the summertime, but it would in winter.

Their installation team was also very helpful. I was disappointed in the price but it's a good product nevertheless. I wasn't aware at that time that I had to spend $4,000 in improving the quantity of the hot water in order to use the tub. I had to pay for it out of my own pocket. That was the only shortfall, but I was going to do it anyway. I just wish I had known in advance that I had to upgrade my heating.

I don’t know if the water’s supposed to come up to the container or if I'm supposed to put the container in the water. There’s a knob under the tub and I don’t know if I turn that to get the water to come up to it or if I have to take the top of the container out of it and physically drop it in the water. I’m glad I got the tub. I can get in and out without worrying about falling and stepping over the tub. I’d get in there and it’s nice. I like the jets because I can fill the tub up to so far and then the water starts getting cold. But, once there, I turn on those jets at my legs and my feet feel good. Their installation team was also great, as they had it all done that day and they had to take out some old wood and replace it with new wood. So now it’s easy to get in the tub. My wife was perusing the internet and came up with two different brands, Safe Step and Jacuzzi. In the area of the country that we live in, Safe Step is manufactured about 50 miles from our home. It was made in America so that’s why we chose them. I had scheduled an appointment for Safe Step to come by and meet with us but with my wife’s illness, I had to reschedule a couple of times and I thought they might get discouraged. But finally, the gentlemen came about 5:30 one afternoon, spent about two hours explaining to us and showing us the videos, and we looked at where it was going to go and made the sale. They were more like friends or neighbors than they were just salesmen. I got in from work about the time that the installation team was finishing up. My wife said they were very friendly, cordial and professional in the way they installed the tub. They’ve done a good job, cleaned up after themselves, and interacted with her.
I got the tub for my wife because she had to have a knee replaced and couldn’t step over into a regular bathtub without the fear of falling. I also have a bad back and I use the tub every morning and I can definitely tell it improved. My favorite feature would be the microbubbles. However, I made one mistake when I got in and filled it up, and I didn't have the door closed all the way down, so the water ran out on the floor. It made a mess. I only got to use my Safe Step one time, though, because I've had hernia surgery, and I can't get in the tub yet. I have called several times to have several repairs done to my Safe Step tub. Starting in February of 2015, I had a leak in the plumbing. When I called, I was told to find a plumber to do the job and they will get paid directly from Safe Step. Plumber did the job but was not happy with how payment was handled. So it was no wonder that he would not do a job for this company again. In February of 2016 I contacted Safe Step again to have the heater in the seat and the lights repaired. They told me to find an electrician and they will do the same like the plumber. Well, that did not go over too well so I asked them to find one that will work with them. I have not heard anything since then and my recent calls keep going to voicemail and are not being returned. If you live in Hawaii and do not reside on Oahu my advice to you would be to think twice before you buy. They may have a good warranty but only if you live in certain areas!

First of all they send down fast talking sale man and by the time he gets done you are so tired. He said you need this... you should buy this... about 3 times. They won't come up front and tell you the price until you ready to sign. Don't like tub because it take too long to fill, my toes are all shrivel up by the time the tub fills up. Also had to buy new water heater which again more money. Sorry we ever bought the tub.

My husband called Safe Step. They came to inspect the very next day and set up an appointment. Premier Bath was the other one we were checking into but they never got back with us. We were just researching but we decided to go with Safe Step. We were most impressed with their installation team. They came here yesterday because we had a problem with one of the jets which they found and fixed.
The tub has helped my husband’s back. He’s had polio. He was having trouble with that now that he’s in his 70s. I knew he needed something and the Safe Step tub has really helped him. My skin is also a lot nicer. I used to use a scrub on my feet once a week but I haven’t had to do that for three weeks now which is nice. Overall, it's a relaxing experience. We’ve already recommended Safe Step to some people.

The sales rep only came for the one visit when we bought the tub. He was pleasant and answered questions. The installation team was also great and super, and my husband was pleased. He said they were very well trained and knew what they were doing. With our new Safe Step tub, we like to get to sit down for the shower and at our age and our physical condition, it's difficult sometimes to stand up. I have waist-long hair and I was going to cut it off but just to stand up to get it all shampooed was a hassle. And now, I don't have to. I was tired of going to the gym to use a hot tub. So I got myself a tub from Safe Step. They're fantastically awesome, from the sales rep to the installers. We had a problem with the circulation pump and they had to borrow it from another unit they had on the truck. But they got me in on the same day. I haven’t been able to use it because I had a shot in my lower back and I couldn’t use hot tubs or bathtubs. But for the first couple of times I did use it, I felt very relaxed in it. My problem with it would be how the water drains. And it seems to sit on the top of the tub and I have to use a squeegee to get it to go into the tub after I'm done taking a shower. But I like everything about my tub. I like the whole product design and the installation process, though it was a little noisy, but they couldn't help it.

Interactions with the sales rep of Safe Step were very pleasant and mostly informative. However, they educated before the fact and not after. And that’s something that Safe Step needs to work with their sales rep a little bit better on. They need to educate them more on the way things have to be manipulated in order to do the installation. There’s turning and twisting that they have to do to get the tub in the home. So even though they’ve got this measurement that fits, they have to understand the measurement that is greatly larger where they have to turn the piece of equipment to get it in there. And this guy didn’t take that into consideration. But the installers seemed very nice and informative. They were very courteous about doing as minimal destruction and they explained everything that they were going to have to do.
I was wondering if there was a smaller tub we could have went with rather than the big one we’ve got but I love the whirlpool jets, the ones that get the back, the legs and neck. Because of the increased cost to use this thing, I’m not using it as much as I would like to - I only use it twice a week. And if I had a smaller unit I would probably be using it more. My father uses the shower part of it daily. And that has taken a lot of relief off of him and is better for his safety precautions for him getting in and out.
The control to turn on the back jets is far. It’s up towards the front of the tub and when I go to turn it on, it causes a lot of splashing ‘cause I have to lean forward and then I have to lean back. It would be a lot better if that control was easier and accessible from a relaxed sitting position. The other thing that I highly recommend is the position of the lights for the light therapy. It needs to be behind the legs rather than in front ‘cause when it goes to the bright white, it blinds me when I'm sitting there.

Within a few days, I was called by the salesman who is a gentleman from Denver and said he could come right down and talk to me about it, which he did. He did a very good job of convincing me that the installation of the tub could be done here on time and with all the guarantees and that they could be out in a week, which I didn’t believe at all but they were. He also said that the installation could be done in half a day, which was exactly what they did do. The installation guys did an excellent job and knew what they were doing. I could tell by watching their work. They were very efficient and gave me confidence that the thing would work right.
I needed the tub because my wife has been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s, and I figured that the only way she could take a bath is to have one of these things that are too comfortable. Being 75 years old and using a body soap in the shower, it gets slippery and I can't even wash my head with one hand. That’s when I said, “I could afford it. I'm going to go with it and see what happens with the walk-in tub.” I chose Safe Step for several reasons. One, the door squared the bottom. Two, I don’t have a hose hanging down. It goes into the unit for the showerhead. And three, the drain doesn’t go down to pull the plug. It's got a drain handle on it that’s more effective.
When the installers put the tub in, they cleaned up the place, tore out the old one, stabilized it, and put in the new one. They did it the way it was promised. They ran the water twice because when you turn off the water in a house where it hasn’t been turned off, it comes out really crappy for a couple of times. So they did clear it up. And I was really looking forward to them. But one gentleman actually went through the routine to help work everything out. But for some reason, I didn't get that particular step and I've tried everything but I still can't turn them on.
But so far, the only feature I don't like, and I've learned how to deal with that, is that when I go in and I turn the water on, it's cold and takes a while. So now I'd usually run it in the bathroom sink until it's hot, then when I turn on the one in the tub, that's about the right temperature. Other than that, I really enjoy my tub. I went with Safe Step because their salesman taught me that it would have been a little bit bigger of a jump for me to get into Premier's tub than in Safe Step's because I'm in a wheelchair. He said that Safe Step's tub is so low to the ground, I can step into it on my own. He's a good guy and made me feel comfortable like they weren't going to rip me off. People love to mess over handicapped people and I think I have stupid written on my forehead. He also showed me how much money I could make as an incentive.
Everybody's torso is different and with Safe Step, It's so easy to adjust the water level to my body. The jets still work even though not totally covered. The installation team was very good. However, nobody told me that the tub took more than 40 gallons of hot water. When the salesperson measured the space, he said that it was fine and if they'll have any difficulties, they'll shove it through the window. I agreed as long as they didn’t tear off my frame. Initially, Safe Step was going to put in a tub that was too big. I had three tubs before they finally got one in. By the third time, I had already decided that I just didn’t want it because it was beginning to be a hassle. So they sent me a baby tub so that I could pay them. They ordered this thing from someplace with the doors off just to make it fit. This tub is so small and it's the worst thing I've ever seen.
I wanted the Safe Step tub because I love my bath. I was excited because I want to make it work for my arthritic body. I thought it would be a place to relax, but every time I go in and look at it, I get so upset. I'm having a horrible time. I'm not a huge woman and I can't even bend down and wash my ankles or stand up and take a shower. We're already in the process of getting a larger hot water heater, but here it is and I can't even turn and wash the right side of me because I'm so close to the door that I can accidentally open it.
I have the customer service number and I get these folks who are going to call me back but never do. I wish I could go straight to the top of the company. I tried to save money for a long time to be able to purchase this. I am really hurt because I have to pay for something that is so small and nobody gave me an option. They just put it in and I can't get the full use out of it. I don’t even know of a compensation Safe Step could do but I doubt if they would do any. I am very dissatisfied.

I had seen the ad for the Safe Step Bathtubs and decided to get them because they have a lifetime warranty on their product. The sales representative I dealt with was lovely and he covered everything. However, there were a couple of things that I requested from him such as where the shower head should go and why. But the installation team have their own way of installing it, wherein the shower head faces the person sitting. So in their case, there was a lack of communication between one person and the other. I wanted the shower head to go in the back, so my shower head did not have to be moved. I told them about it and they said, "Oh, no. This is what we're supposed to do." After all the work was done, they then went back and verified it, then they told me that I was right.
I also didn't appreciate that they worked until 10 o'clock at night. I have an elderly mother who has dementia and I have all kinds of animals, and a home like that was a little difficult. There is a time to stop so that we could get our life together, go to dinner and try to have some normalcy while there's construction, dust, and crap everywhere. I wasn't completely thrilled about that. Then the electrician said, "I'll be there at 6 o'clock," and they never ask me what time is good for me. When he finally finished the job, I gave him the check, I signed the papers then he lost them. Two days later, he had found the paper but couldn't find the check so I had to pay for stop payment on it and that's caused me stress. We're talking about almost $10,000 check with my signature. I have to hope that somebody doesn't copy my signature if not found later. So I have to go through the process of closing the whole account and that wasn't fun.
But the work they've done was excellent and the tub itself is beautiful. Everybody in my family has enjoyed it and the bottom line is that I know my mom is safe. She's can get in comfortably even with her limited skills and she understands how to do everything well. But I'm still waiting for the user manual on it because they didn't have it on them. One of the jets has popped off and I haven't had the chance to call them because I'm dealing with so many things at once including health issues. My only commentary: make sure that you have a copy of your notes as to what you purchased so that when they kept telling you it's something else or that's not the way they do it, you have it in front of you instead of wasting days and time.

I have the tub for only three weeks now and have been in it once. It's so sophisticated. I drive a Porsche sports car for about a year now and there are buttons I still can't figure out and I'm feeling the same way with the tub. I shampooed my hair and couldn’t get the spray to work, so I took my head on to the faucet. I have to call the guy who explained it to me and see how he worked the spray. I also couldn’t figure out how to let the water out so I had to climb over the thing to get out. I have the cheat sheet and finally found out how to. Everything else is fine and I'm very happy with Safe Step. They were very nice, polite, and gentlemanly. The installation team was wonderful and did a super job. I'm very satisfied with the tub so far.

Safe Step seemed to be the best so I went with them. Everybody there seemed nice and very professional. However, the door of the tub needs to be a bit wider because when I get in, it makes it kind of a little high elevation with the door because the door swings in. Also, my main concern is that I have not gotten a bill yet. Other than those, I like it so far.

My previous tub was too big under the floor so when I saw Safe Step's ad on TV, that’s when I called them. I had no idea how expensive it was, but it's worth every penny of it. The tub is amazing and it's unbelievable how nice it is. I don’t see how anybody can get by without one. It feels great to get in and out of it. And it seems like I can get a lot cleaner than I could with a shower.
The installers, Ron and his partner, were super. They cleaned up nicely behind themselves, and the only thing wrong was the caulk that he's put around the tub wasn’t the paintable kind, so I had to have that all taken out, recaulked, then painted because I couldn’t paint around the tub the way it was. But they did a good job. I do have one problem with my Safe Step tub. Right next to the sewer line, I've got a big hole coming in the yard. Ron reversed the plumbing and I don’t know if he hooked it back up right or not. I won't know until this evening. My brother-in-law’s coming over, and he's bringing a light for the sewer line. And I'm going to fill the tub with water and let it go and see what happens.

Our old tub had sliding glass doors and twice I had not quite gotten my right foot totally up over the rim of the tub and I fell out of the shower twice. So I talked to my husband and said, "Maybe this is not gonna be the long term solution. We need to look for something, if we're gonna stay here in this house. We do need to redo the bathroom, we do need to get something safer, we need to get something figured out here." My husband and I are getting older, and I thought If something happens to us, we're in a walker or a wheelchair or whatever else happens to us, we still need to be able to be bathed.
So went that route of purchasing a Safe Step walk-in tub, I thought it would be a smarter move and so far I'm really pleased. I think we made the right decision. Their installers were excellent, accommodating and professional. They did everything that they could because it ended up being total bathroom remake. So it wasn't just the tub, it was the walls, removing the tile, putting up new tile, new toilet installation, new vanity so I was very happy.

So, I called Chad and he said I probably needed a bigger hot water heater. He went and checked it out. I also had my plumber come out to check. Now, he's going to see if he can put in the regular one which would be about a 50, 10 gallons more than what I have. If not, he'll have to tear all that out. All this was not explained to me. My plumber will let me know. And if I have any problem, I'll call Chad. Other than that, I love it. It looks good and it felt good when I got in there a couple of times. Safe Step Walk-in Tub costs quite a bit. We’re on retirement income and I didn’t think my wife would go for it but after she decided that we would buy it, I told the salesman that I would have given him a snowball’s chance of making that sale. But he did! And I had a nice bath in it this morning. However, I had problems figuring all those switches out, but I think I might have it under control now. I also found out how to make them go a point down, that way they don’t go all over the ceiling. I like the water hot and I’ve ran out of hot water. We just built this house and our 50-gallon hot water tank is brand new. I don’t wanna buy another one. But there's this kind where it heats the water as it goes through the coils and the water is constantly heated that we need not have a tank to keep hot hour after hour. I wonder if that works on one of these things? I'm satisfied, but I’ll like it even better when I get everything figured out.

Had the sales rep come to our home to show us the tub. He was very knowledgeable, but some of the "stuff" he stated was plain hooey. For instance he indicated that by using this tub with the MicroSoothe Air bubbles your diabetes could be cured. Uh no. Air bubbles no matter how fine will not cure diabetes, especially Type 1 which is what I have. The installers were not very professional in their attire but did great work. Friendly and informed me of any problem or potential problem they saw while working under my house in the crawl space. Expensive, but worth it in my opinion. Many extras with this tub that other suppliers provided but at extra cost. Looking forward to being able to soak in the tub once again!
Updated on 2/29/2016: During the sales pitch the sales rep looked at our current hot water heater and told us that the 50 gallon heater we had would be okay. He did say if we wanted we could go up to a 65 gallon water heater. Well, the tub was installed on 2/23/16. Our first use was 32 hours after installation and we ran out of hot water before the tub was 2/3's full. We checked the elements in the hot water heater to see if one was burnt out, but no, they were functioning fine. So my husband tried the tub again last night and what happened? The hot water ran out again, 2/3's full. So in looking for a new hot water heater I was rather angered to find that they do not make 65 gallon heaters for electric supply. Gas, yes, electric no. So that means we now have to invest in a new hot water heater in the only available larger size of 80 gallons to the minimum price of $1700.
Of course this larger size heater will not fit in our current spot and so we will have to find a new location for placement as well as run new lines to it. The tub is great, but inadequate hot water is a big issue for enjoying a soothing hot bath. Since my husband has some physical limitations we will probably have to hire someone to install the new water heater as the larger ones easily weighs 410 pounds which he cannot handle on his own. So there is an additional expense. Just be aware that a 50 gallon hot water heater is not going to be adequate for the needs of your tub. Be prepared to pay for the tub and shell out more to replace your water heater.

I was told that Safe Step was an American made product so that's very positive and that went a long way with me when I was selecting a bathtub company. The sales representative was very good. They got the job done the same day, didn't fool around and cleaned up after themselves.
My favorite feature of the tub is that I can get in and out of it without having to step over. I couldn't get in like that in a conventional tub because I couldn't get my legs over the side anymore. I get a hard time and I need to be very careful the way it is. I've only used my walk-in tub once since I've had it. When you spend $12,000 on a tub, you don't want to have to start spending money on it right away but I did because my 40-gallon water heater was inadequate so I had to put in another one.

When the electrician, plumber, carpenter and working manager went here, I thought it would take them about a day to a day and a half, but they were in and out in five hours and did a beautiful job. They were excellent. The jets was the only big thing for me because I'm used to showers. My wife loves it because she can walk in as it's hard for her to get out of a tub. She loves the exfoliating feature as well. The communication and service in Nashville was real good. They seem to know what they're doing, I can't complain at all.

The installers were great and did a good job. They cleaned up where they were working but they left dusts in the rest of my bedroom. Other than that, they would have been here one day except they forgot one part and had to come back the next day to put it in. A year and half later, I can't fit in my tub anymore. It's too small. I called Safe Step to ask for a bigger tub but they said they can't do it because it wouldn't fit through my bathroom door. I had to go through another company to put me in a bigger one.

They were fantastic and I was truly satisfied with them. I like all the features of the walk-in tub: the oxybubbles, the jet, and all the little bells and whistles. The only thing is that it takes about 75 gallons to fill it up, and I've got a 55 gallon water tank. They said that'd be no problem, but you've got to make sure nobody takes a shower or a bath. It took some adjustment, but we like it all.

However, I noticed one little area that they didn't finish with the trim. If I had caught it before they left, I would've asked them to put the trim on it so it would look the same as around there. That's the only thing that I noticed that wasn't perfect.
I can sit there like a Jacuzzi tub except I don't have to step down to get into it. I would usually use it at night because it puts me to sleep. It's an absolute great thing to have, especially as one gets older and has aches and pains. My husband finally got in and liked it too. I've used it more than he has. The installation team did fine work. They had to remove woodwork from the door to get the tub in and they've put that all back nice and left everything as good, or even better than it was before.
I like the tub's back jets and it helps with the arthritis in my knees. But the best thing is that it wasn't that high the way it is, because I'm 89 and my husband is 93 so it's a lot easier than climbing in and out. But we are waiting for them to come back because they had to take our bathroom door off and when they took it off they had to take the frame off too and the door wants to stick a little bit. I needed a hot tub because of health issues, and we got the Safe Step walk-in tub mostly for practical reasons. We are in a much smaller place and it wasn’t cost-effective to get the hot tub, but I researched and found that it has the hydrotherapy and jets were involved in it, and it would fit in the space we had in the second bathroom.
The sales representative was very professional. I would have preferred to have been able to ask more questions upfront than him giving me the whole preview of the thing. It would have been a whole lot more interesting if we interacted with my questions and needs, but he did a very good job with it. The Safe Step installation team were very efficient and effective. They got the job done and went over how to use it so it was very good.
My least favorite feature of the walk-in tub, which I didn’t think about when I got it, is that I cannot fill it before I get in it. It’s not like a hot tub. It is strictly the walk in and shut the door, and then you got to wait for it to fill before you can do much with your jets. What it was designed for is very effective for the people that need to be able to safely get in and out of it. It builds up to its name, Safe Step. It does not do a few things that I need it to do, but of all the ones that I researched, this one seemed to be top notch. Also, my husband was impressed that it was fully guaranteed and covered.
There is nothing wrong with the overall operation of it, but for my personal needs, it was a little bit less effective. We are in a retirement village, and everything is so much smaller here. I had a large house before moving here, and had a room built and I had a hot tub in my bathroom. When I needed it in the middle of the night, I could get in it. Here I’ve got to wait for 18 minutes, so it is not an immediate relief for me. I may have expected more out of it than what I actually wind up with.

I liked the idea of how much safety features it has, reason why I chose Safe Step Walk-in Tubs over others. The best feature of the tub for me is the MicroSoothe jets, especially for my husband who has circulation issues. I think everybody that has an issue getting safely in and out of tubs should have one of these. Moreover, their sales rep was terrific. She had a tremendous amount of knowledge about the tub and when she got to know my husband and I, she could actually point out where it would improve our quality of life. We are both disabled so she just knew exactly how it would help us. And she was 100% right.
The installation team was great, too! They came exactly when they said they would be here, explained everything to us that they were going to do. They had to cut some tile work that was done in that bathroom -- which we knew ahead of time -- and they explained how they were gonna do it to try and preserve as much of it as they could, and they did a fabulous job. Our contractor hasn't done the tile work yet because they had to order it but he hasn't really have a huge job ahead of him to replace what they had to take out. They were efficient also; they had to use some electrical tools and they told us that ahead of time because of the noise and we have a little dog in the house. They walked us through the whole thing. They could not have been more polite.
And when they were all done, they cleaned it all up. I didn't have to do a thing. Also, one of the gentlemen actually took my husband aside, went through the whole manual with us, showed us exactly how everything worked, let us ask questions. We sort of played with it a little bit to make sure we had an understanding of it. They were all wonderful!

However, getting the installation team here was tough, but once they got here, they were really good. Unfortunately, there was one little error they had to come back to straighten out a couple of days ago which they did without any problem and I couldn't be any happier with the tub.

They told me everything they were doing and I was very happy with the work. It turned out perfect - it was a beautiful installation. I like the fact that I don't have to step over a one-half foot wall to get out of the tub and I do not worry about slipping. However, the existing piping that they had to tie into is very slow to drain and I need to get it cleaned out or figure on how to replace the pipe. It takes as long to drain as there is to fill. At that time I didn't want anybody else in my house, having to deal with them coming in and out and all the extra noise. But with Safe Step, they took care of everything. We didn't have to worry about anything else.
The people who put it in were exceptionally well-trained, well-mannered, and knowledgeable. They really got on the job. They didn't even take a lunch break. When I asked, they said, "We want to get through with the job and get out of your way as quick as we can." They wanted to do a good job and they did it exceptionally well. They explained things to us and we felt very comfortable and satisfied with them. When they left, it was working and going.
There's this one feature that bothers me a bit, though: as I step into the door and sit down on the seat, they have some control buttons on the right and once my hand gets on it or when I'm putting my elbow up there, it accidentally gets on the control and turns the pump on too soon. I don't know if they could put it anywhere else. I have to be careful when I'm stepping in the tub. But I'm getting used to it. We've had a good experience with Safe Step all in all.
