I have MS and I can't get in and out of our bathtub. I fell the last four times I got in it and the neighbors were getting a little upset with me of not showering, so we had to do something. I also have diabetes and have a real problem with dry skin, and Safe Step has really made a difference. I was very surprised and it's almost like a miracle. We were very pleased with the price, the microbubbles, and the help that they gave us in having different wirings put in. The sales representative went out of their way to make sure that we had what we wanted and called us from the main office several times to make sure that what we wanted was being done. They also helped us in getting the electricity put in properly. Then we had a good time with the installation team that came to our home. They were friendly and cleaned up after themselves.

I was inquiring for a non-expensive job when I saw Safe Step's ad. I thought it was very similar so I called them and their guy came down and took measurements. A week or so later, they called and came here, did the job, and didn’t bother me with anything. They just mind their own business. They cleaned up their mess and left after they were done. I'm very satisfied. Since I got the tub installed, I'm more relaxed. I like the grab bars more than anything else and one of the installation guys had me show him where I wanted them. I also showed him where I wanted the jets.

I had wanted a walk-in tub for years. Safe Step said they were made in Tennessee and I like that. The first night that we could take a bath in it my husband really enjoyed it and it has taken the pain in his knee away. I had so looked forward to that tub so I also got in that night and stayed maybe 30 minutes. When I got out, I was so weak. Unfortunately, I had a heart surgery in September and had lots of problems. And so I haven’t been able to use it. But I love the shower even though I paid way too much for it. And I feel safe in it. I just recommended it to my best friend yesterday.

My wife decided to get a Safe Step walk-in tub. I would never have even considered it. I like a shower. They're talking about the little bubbles and stuff that heal things but baths are not clean. Showers are clean. She has EMS and getting weaker, and couldn't sit up on the stool in the shower. We had to spend money having an old tub converted to a walk-in shower to get a sit down tub. She loves it but to me, it's hard get in and out of it. Going in the door, I have to sit down and turn sideways to get the door closed.
When I first talked to the reps of Safe Step, they were talking about what size of water heater we had. I said 65 gallons and they said it's fine. The water heater went bad and I can only buy a 50 or 80 gallon water heater. I can only get the 80 gallon in a hybrid and they are about $1,500 to $2,000, so we got a 50 gallon and it's not enough. I have to stop and sit there and wait on it to reheat to fill the tub up.

We've seen Safe Step's ad on TV quite a bit and my husband told me to call them. Their sales rep was really nice and very knowledgeable about it. It was a great experience. The installation team was fantastic, too. We're really enjoying our bath tub. I like that I am able to sit down and get up without having to crawl out of it. It has bothered my knee but I've noticed in the past week, it's finally stopped hurting like it was at first.

I like Safe Step's price and their salesman who had a good demonstration. The follow up was good and I even received a letter from the salesman congratulating us on being able to sell it to us. The tub is still new to us but we haven’t had any problems. We like everything about it. I've been well satisfied and my wife loves it, too.

Safe Step has lifetime warranty so we chose them. Their sales rep came twice and was very nice. She let me watch videos, showed me all the information and showed me exactly how they would tear out my old bathtub. I like everything about their tub. The jets and the oxygenation really help with my lower legs and feet for diabetes, and I like the hand-held shower cause I really like to shower off after I take a bath. My grandson who's 4 loves it too. He took a bath last night and took another one this morning. Since its installation, my skin feels a whole lot better. I enjoy my bath and I've got all kinds of bathing essentials, use the massage and turn the lights off. I've used Epsom salts and Dead Sea salts to make it just like a spa. I really enjoy it.

I purchased Safe Step because I heard that they were top of the line. I like the jets. I like being able to sit in the warm bubbling water and get in and out of it. However, although it does get rid of the water fast, I'm surprised that it seems like it takes a little bit of time to fill it. But other than that, I'm glad that I am able to take a bath again. I haven't been able to in a long time. Also, I can use it to shower since I'm in the middle of getting my bathroom redone, and I had my showers taken out, but there is the portable shower in the tub. It's very relaxing, a stress reliever, and it's worth it. In addition, the installation team did a good job.

We bought from Safe Step because of the reviews and quality of the product. The sales reps were great. They came out and showed the tub. When the installation people came to put it in, they were very nice, did everything, and cleaned up. Safe Step called several times since then to check on it. My mom likes the jets and micros, and she seems to have less aches and pains. The only dislike we found is that using the jets increase our power bill quite a bit. The electricity of using and leaving it running for quite some time is the only disadvantage. Everything else has been an advantage.

I purchased from Safe Step because number one, everything's made here in America and number two they're all fiber glass tubs, not plastic. The installers were fantastic. They came in, tore out the bathroom, put it all back together in about eight hours. That was including all the plumbing, electrical, all the finish work. And they didn't leave any dirt whatsoever when they left.
We put it in the tub for my mother and stepfather to use, and so far she loves it. She likes the heat in the seat in that when the water's running to fill it up she's not sitting on a cold tub, and she likes the jets in it too. My stepfather can't take a bath by himself and they're able to put him in there and shower him and he can sit down. The Safe Step walk-in tub makes it easier and convenient for them. I would recommend it to anybody that asks.

I had seen the ad for the Safe Step Bathtubs and decided to get them because they have a lifetime warranty on their product. The sales representative I dealt with was lovely and he covered everything. However, there were a couple of things that I requested from him such as where the shower head should go and why. But the installation team have their own way of installing it, wherein the shower head faces the person sitting. So in their case, there was a lack of communication between one person and the other. I wanted the shower head to go in the back, so my shower head did not have to be moved. I told them about it and they said, "Oh, no. This is what we're supposed to do." After all the work was done, they then went back and verified it, then they told me that I was right.
I also didn't appreciate that they worked until 10 o'clock at night. I have an elderly mother who has dementia and I have all kinds of animals, and a home like that was a little difficult. There is a time to stop so that we could get our life together, go to dinner and try to have some normalcy while there's construction, dust, and crap everywhere. I wasn't completely thrilled about that. Then the electrician said, "I'll be there at 6 o'clock," and they never ask me what time is good for me. When he finally finished the job, I gave him the check, I signed the papers then he lost them. Two days later, he had found the paper but couldn't find the check so I had to pay for stop payment on it and that's caused me stress. We're talking about almost $10,000 check with my signature. I have to hope that somebody doesn't copy my signature if not found later. So I have to go through the process of closing the whole account and that wasn't fun.
But the work they've done was excellent and the tub itself is beautiful. Everybody in my family has enjoyed it and the bottom line is that I know my mom is safe. She's can get in comfortably even with her limited skills and she understands how to do everything well. But I'm still waiting for the user manual on it because they didn't have it on them. One of the jets has popped off and I haven't had the chance to call them because I'm dealing with so many things at once including health issues. My only commentary: make sure that you have a copy of your notes as to what you purchased so that when they kept telling you it's something else or that's not the way they do it, you have it in front of you instead of wasting days and time.

I have the tub for only three weeks now and have been in it once. It's so sophisticated. I drive a Porsche sports car for about a year now and there are buttons I still can't figure out and I'm feeling the same way with the tub. I shampooed my hair and couldn’t get the spray to work, so I took my head on to the faucet. I have to call the guy who explained it to me and see how he worked the spray. I also couldn’t figure out how to let the water out so I had to climb over the thing to get out. I have the cheat sheet and finally found out how to. Everything else is fine and I'm very happy with Safe Step. They were very nice, polite, and gentlemanly. The installation team was wonderful and did a super job. I'm very satisfied with the tub so far.

Safe Step seemed to be the best so I went with them. Everybody there seemed nice and very professional. However, the door of the tub needs to be a bit wider because when I get in, it makes it kind of a little high elevation with the door because the door swings in. Also, my main concern is that I have not gotten a bill yet. Other than those, I like it so far.

My previous tub was too big under the floor so when I saw Safe Step's ad on TV, that’s when I called them. I had no idea how expensive it was, but it's worth every penny of it. The tub is amazing and it's unbelievable how nice it is. I don’t see how anybody can get by without one. It feels great to get in and out of it. And it seems like I can get a lot cleaner than I could with a shower.
The installers, Ron and his partner, were super. They cleaned up nicely behind themselves, and the only thing wrong was the caulk that he's put around the tub wasn’t the paintable kind, so I had to have that all taken out, recaulked, then painted because I couldn’t paint around the tub the way it was. But they did a good job. I do have one problem with my Safe Step tub. Right next to the sewer line, I've got a big hole coming in the yard. Ron reversed the plumbing and I don’t know if he hooked it back up right or not. I won't know until this evening. My brother-in-law’s coming over, and he's bringing a light for the sewer line. And I'm going to fill the tub with water and let it go and see what happens.

Our old tub had sliding glass doors and twice I had not quite gotten my right foot totally up over the rim of the tub and I fell out of the shower twice. So I talked to my husband and said, "Maybe this is not gonna be the long term solution. We need to look for something, if we're gonna stay here in this house. We do need to redo the bathroom, we do need to get something safer, we need to get something figured out here." My husband and I are getting older, and I thought If something happens to us, we're in a walker or a wheelchair or whatever else happens to us, we still need to be able to be bathed.
So went that route of purchasing a Safe Step walk-in tub, I thought it would be a smarter move and so far I'm really pleased. I think we made the right decision. Their installers were excellent, accommodating and professional. They did everything that they could because it ended up being total bathroom remake. So it wasn't just the tub, it was the walls, removing the tile, putting up new tile, new toilet installation, new vanity so I was very happy.

I haven't used our tub yet but I think it's a very nice and put-together piece of equipment. Safe Step was the best walk-in tub company among the companies I checked out. Their sales representative, Chad, was very nice, helpful and knowledgeable. After he left, he told me to call him if I needed anything before the installer comes. So far, the only problem I have was not getting enough hot water. So, I called Chad and he said I probably needed a bigger hot water heater. He went and checked it out. I also had my plumber come out to check. Now, he's going to see if he can put in the regular one which would be about a 50, 10 gallons more than what I have. If not, he'll have to tear all that out. All this was not explained to me. My plumber will let me know. And if I have any problem, I'll call Chad. Other than that, I love it. It looks good and it felt good when I got in there a couple of times. Safe Step Walk-in Tub costs quite a bit. We’re on retirement income and I didn’t think my wife would go for it but after she decided that we would buy it, I told the salesman that I would have given him a snowball’s chance of making that sale. But he did! And I had a nice bath in it this morning. However, I had problems figuring all those switches out, but I think I might have it under control now. I also found out how to make them go a point down, that way they don’t go all over the ceiling. I like the water hot and I’ve ran out of hot water. We just built this house and our 50-gallon hot water tank is brand new. I don’t wanna buy another one. But there's this kind where it heats the water as it goes through the coils and the water is constantly heated that we need not have a tank to keep hot hour after hour. I wonder if that works on one of these things? I'm satisfied, but I’ll like it even better when I get everything figured out.

Had the sales rep come to our home to show us the tub. He was very knowledgeable, but some of the "stuff" he stated was plain hooey. For instance he indicated that by using this tub with the MicroSoothe Air bubbles your diabetes could be cured. Uh no. Air bubbles no matter how fine will not cure diabetes, especially Type 1 which is what I have. The installers were not very professional in their attire but did great work. Friendly and informed me of any problem or potential problem they saw while working under my house in the crawl space. Expensive, but worth it in my opinion. Many extras with this tub that other suppliers provided but at extra cost. Looking forward to being able to soak in the tub once again!
Updated on 2/29/2016: During the sales pitch the sales rep looked at our current hot water heater and told us that the 50 gallon heater we had would be okay. He did say if we wanted we could go up to a 65 gallon water heater. Well, the tub was installed on 2/23/16. Our first use was 32 hours after installation and we ran out of hot water before the tub was 2/3's full. We checked the elements in the hot water heater to see if one was burnt out, but no, they were functioning fine. So my husband tried the tub again last night and what happened? The hot water ran out again, 2/3's full. So in looking for a new hot water heater I was rather angered to find that they do not make 65 gallon heaters for electric supply. Gas, yes, electric no. So that means we now have to invest in a new hot water heater in the only available larger size of 80 gallons to the minimum price of $1700.
Of course this larger size heater will not fit in our current spot and so we will have to find a new location for placement as well as run new lines to it. The tub is great, but inadequate hot water is a big issue for enjoying a soothing hot bath. Since my husband has some physical limitations we will probably have to hire someone to install the new water heater as the larger ones easily weighs 410 pounds which he cannot handle on his own. So there is an additional expense. Just be aware that a 50 gallon hot water heater is not going to be adequate for the needs of your tub. Be prepared to pay for the tub and shell out more to replace your water heater.

I was told that Safe Step was an American made product so that's very positive and that went a long way with me when I was selecting a bathtub company. The sales representative was very good. He put on a good program and he seemed, for the most part, know what he was talking about. The installation team was very professional and direct to the point. They got the job done the same day, didn't fool around and cleaned up after themselves.
My favorite feature of the tub is that I can get in and out of it without having to step over. I couldn't get in like that in a conventional tub because I couldn't get my legs over the side anymore. I get a hard time and I need to be very careful the way it is. I've only used my walk-in tub once since I've had it. When you spend $12,000 on a tub, you don't want to have to start spending money on it right away but I did because my 40-gallon water heater was inadequate so I had to put in another one.

The sales rep from Safe Step was very confident in what she did and explained well and I was very happy with the installation until we had a problem. I let the installation team do their job and they did it very well except for one thing. When they left, I noticed that the grab bar is a brushed aluminium instead of chrome like the other. I called the sales lady and said she referred me to the service guys and they said that they put in chrome on the tub. I don't believe that at all. So I called the service department twice and I've never gotten any results from them. I sent a certified letter to the owner and had it returned to me because evidently he doesn't take mails.
I'm very disappointed with that and I can't get any resolve on it. Nobody seems to want to return my calls. If this is the kind of response I'm going to get if I have any problem with the tub, for the amount of money that I've spent, it's not worth it. I certainly would not tell anybody else to buy Safe Step walk-in tubs with the way it's going on right now.

I have hardwood floors in my bathrooms and they did not put any protective covering and did an awful lot of scratching to those floors. I didn't like that. But apart from that, they had a lot of extra work to do and they did it without grumbling.

Safe Step sales reps were nice, knowledgeable and assisted me with my questions. The installers were nice and friendly too. They cleaned up everything. They ran the vacuum cleaner and sprayed down rugs all through the hall and didn't make any mess at all. But, I don't like the left side door. I would have picked the right side if they asked me what I wanted. But it's easy getting in and out of the bath. I'm trying to get in touch with somebody because we decided we'd take our savings and pay off the amount instead of paying monthly. The personnel wasn't answering the phone at first, but I got a hold of someone and they'll mail everything to us by the 27th.

My wife is sick with cancer and unable to use the old tub. I thought that maybe if I could have a Safe Step tub for her, that would help her some. So I had Safe Step come in and put in the tub. They said they usually do it in about four hours but they did it a little less than that. They were very professional - took everything out and put something on the floor to keep them from tracking in dirt on the floor. After that, they cleaned up. I’ve told several people and they came in and looked at it. It was a nice job.

The salesman who came to discuss the product was very knowledgeable and polite and I was impressed with the product and felt it would probably meet my needs and pd a 1,000 dollar deposit on my intent to have a tub installed within a year at the quoted price. However, during the last month I have encountered some new health issues and financial issues that have interrupted my plans and I have requested a refund of my deposit. This is where I have become totally disillusioned with customer service. They have refused to refund my deposit and have requested personal information to justify my request to cancel the order!

I was in South Carolina visiting my sister-in-law for her son's birthday. She had a Safe Step walk-in tub, and when I got into it, I truly liked it because I had arthritis in my knee and couldn't step over the tub anymore, so I decided then that I was going to get one for myself. The sales rep was very nice and good. My husband passed away, but I have my two sisters and a friend here, and he explained everything to us. Then he left me a little card that shows everything, like how to turn on the water, the jets, and all the other features. The people who installed the tub came from Jacksonville. There was one that was in charge and three more guys. They were very nice and cleaned up everything.
My friend was staying here with me when I got the tub. I hadn't used the jets yet. I've only been taking a shower. Last night, my friend came over early and I told her I'm a little afraid of using the jets. My sister told me that she had been afraid too of using the jets when she first got her tub, but she got over that fear. I wanted to have somebody here when I turn on all of the tub's features. So my friend and I got into the tub and tried the jets and all the other features. These were very good and we liked them. I enjoyed my experience with Safe Step and would recommend them.

I knew that my daughter had had Premier out to her house and they were gonna charge her an ungodly price, so I didn’t want to call them. I called Safe Step and they sent a man named Bob to talk to me. I was happy to hear everything that he said because I have bad arthritis, clogged arteries, and I’ve had two back surgeries. I was also happy with all the things he had on it like the aromatherapy, the jets and the heated seat. And it just seemed to be more up to date than the ones I had seen on TV.
The installers were real nice and they took the old tub out. They had to take part of the wall out to get the new one in, but they replaced it and it looks just like it did before. They even put me a new outlet by the counter where the sink is. They were good and they cleaned up things when they were done. I was happy with them. I like to sit in my Safe Step tub and relax when I know I'm not gonna have company and I don't have to go anywhere. Using it makes me feel better and the micro things that it has in it helps exfoliate my skin so it feels softer and smoother.

My wife is handicapped and needed a walk-in tub so we got a Safe Step installed a month ago. Their sales rep did an assessment of our house, and looked at everything. We don't have the money to reap out a brand new energy efficient hot water heater and put another one in. The sales rep told us our heater was great and he wasn't worried about it at all, but it wasn't. I wasn't very happy about the assessment. It also upset me that we gave him our income and he told the people that were going to finance the rest of the tub a different income than what we told him. He said he needed to do that to get the tub financed for us. I didn't feel that the salesman represented himself well. He told us whatever we wanted to hear but we're not getting that. On the other hand, the installers have done a great job and explained everything to us very well. They were great guys and I was really happy with what they've done.
Safe Step is a great product if it was functional but it's not and we can't use it at all. We haven't been able to use the tub because we ran out of hot water before we even get to the seat. I tried to email Safe Step couple of times to get the problem fixed but the email address they gave me was not valid. I'm going to call them and if we can't reach an agreement, I'm going to call the Better Business Bureau and talk to them.

I love my Safe Step walk-in tub. About a week before I called the representative to come out and talk to me, I almost fell in my tub so I knew that I had to get something that I didn’t have to try to step into that high. The sales representative was very courteous, informative, and a nice gentleman. When the installers came in, they were very courteous and they introduced themselves at the door. He told me, “I got two other guys with me. We are finishing this today. We’re not gonna go to another day. When we leave here today, it will be installed and usable.” And they did it. When they got through, they cleaned up after themselves. I was thinking, “Oh, Lord. I’m not gonna get all of this stuff,” but they cleaned all of that up so what little dusting I have to do was for the usual kind of fallout and the floor is beautiful.
So far, the whole tub is just, “Whooo! The tub has helped in the aching of my knees especially that I’m going in on Friday for a surgery myself. I have arthritis in my knees so that was one reason I got the tub such that it really feels good when I get out of the tub after sitting there and soaking for a while. I was going to call other companies and review each one but the Safe Step salesperson wouldn’t let me get off without buying the bathtub and I was put in a situation where I couldn’t say no. He gave me a discount and I ended up spending more money than I should’ve. He was supposed to bring me some rose and vanilla scent to go in the bath vent but he hadn’t done that yet. I can’t use the bathtub as often as the reps told me because I don’t have the energy enough to do it. I use it every other day and I’m able to get in and out which I wasn’t able to do with the other tub.
Also, I have a lot of nerve pain and numbness in my left leg and the left side of my body and the bathtub stimulates the nerves and makes it hurt more. I thought I would enjoy the Hydrotherapy but that’s a bit hard on me so I’m still trying to get used to that. The doctor told me not to use it if it continues like that. I’m taking medication to try to block that pain and this is stimulating it. I loved the people from Safe Step. The installation team were all nice and so was the salesperson.

I needed a hot tub because of health issues, and we got the Safe Step walk-in tub mostly for practical reasons. We are in a much smaller place and it wasn’t cost-effective to get the hot tub, but I researched and found that it has the hydrotherapy and jets were involved in it, and it would fit in the space we had in the second bathroom.
The sales representative was very professional. I would have preferred to have been able to ask more questions upfront than him giving me the whole preview of the thing. It would have been a whole lot more interesting if we interacted with my questions and needs, but he did a very good job with it. The Safe Step installation team were very efficient and effective. They got the job done and went over how to use it so it was very good.
My least favorite feature of the walk-in tub, which I didn’t think about when I got it, is that I cannot fill it before I get in it. It’s not like a hot tub. It is strictly the walk in and shut the door, and then you got to wait for it to fill before you can do much with your jets. What it was designed for is very effective for the people that need to be able to safely get in and out of it. It builds up to its name, Safe Step. It does not do a few things that I need it to do, but of all the ones that I researched, this one seemed to be top notch. Also, my husband was impressed that it was fully guaranteed and covered.
There is nothing wrong with the overall operation of it, but for my personal needs, it was a little bit less effective. We are in a retirement village, and everything is so much smaller here. I had a large house before moving here, and had a room built and I had a hot tub in my bathroom. When I needed it in the middle of the night, I could get in it. Here I’ve got to wait for 18 minutes, so it is not an immediate relief for me. I may have expected more out of it than what I actually wind up with.

I liked the idea of how much safety features it has, reason why I chose Safe Step Walk-in Tubs over others. The best feature of the tub for me is the MicroSoothe jets, especially for my husband who has circulation issues. I think everybody that has an issue getting safely in and out of tubs should have one of these. Moreover, their sales rep was terrific. She had a tremendous amount of knowledge about the tub and when she got to know my husband and I, she could actually point out where it would improve our quality of life. We are both disabled so she just knew exactly how it would help us. And she was 100% right.
The installation team was great, too! They came exactly when they said they would be here, explained everything to us that they were going to do. They had to cut some tile work that was done in that bathroom -- which we knew ahead of time -- and they explained how they were gonna do it to try and preserve as much of it as they could, and they did a fabulous job. Our contractor hasn't done the tile work yet because they had to order it but he hasn't really have a huge job ahead of him to replace what they had to take out. They were efficient also; they had to use some electrical tools and they told us that ahead of time because of the noise and we have a little dog in the house. They walked us through the whole thing. They could not have been more polite.
And when they were all done, they cleaned it all up. I didn't have to do a thing. Also, one of the gentlemen actually took my husband aside, went through the whole manual with us, showed us exactly how everything worked, let us ask questions. We sort of played with it a little bit to make sure we had an understanding of it. They were all wonderful!

There's this one feature that bothers me a bit, though: as I step into the door and sit down on the seat, they have some control buttons on the right and once my hand gets on it or when I'm putting my elbow up there, it accidentally gets on the control and turns the pump on too soon. We were prepared to have the installation take a day and a half to a couple of days but when the installers came, they did it all in one day. So we were happy. I have knee replacements on both knees and having the massaging portion (when the water shoots out and massage about it) is simply one of the big things that I'm impressed with. Right now I'm waiting for them to send me the paperwork on payments but my wife and I have been using it and we're both satisfied with it.

I've had nothing but a stellar experience from the time the salesman came out until the installation of our walk-in tub. Everything was great. The installers, which I know are just contractors, worked fast and did a very professional job. They came in prior to the installation, measured everything, and put down papers on the floor so that the floor wasn't racked up. They had everything all figured out even before they came out to install, so that made our experience much better. We like the fact that our walk-in tub is so easily accessible.

I had to try the tub three times to understand exactly how everything works but it's wonderful and does what it's advertised to do. We like its jets feature though we didn't have enough time trying to get into the whole bath routine. Right now I have to get a bigger hot water heater to be able to really fill it up to where I need to fill it up. So after that I'm sure it will be better.
I talked to their salesman for probably an hour and heard the things I needed to know. I had wanted a tub for a long time so it seems that that was the one for me. The installation team of two people promptly came out the next day. They worked with me to install the tub in a way that saved a closet and some really nice ceramic tile that we had originally thought we'd have to get rid of. They came, did what they are supposed to do and cleaned up. They were also friendly and they explained it to me, but explaining it once and reading it is not the same. They need to make a video, put a person in a bathing suit and let them actually demonstrate it because I sat in there the one time I used it and I thought, "Holy smokes, what the heck am I doing here?". To be able to get in a tub and sit in it is wonderful. I like that I’m able to fit into the water, and it’s nice to have a heated seat.
The Safe Step salesperson was very professional and the two gentlemen who installed the tub did a professional job and could not have been nicer. They worked hard, came in at 9:00, cleaned up after themselves, and left about 2:30. The only thing is it would be nice if there’s an extension of the handle on the outside of the tub so there’s a place to hang a towel or washcloth. Maybe they can put that in the future when they’re designing the tub. But other than that, we’re 100% pleased with the tub. Our neighbor came up and looked at our tub and he was very pleased too. I had a fine discussion with Safe Step's sales representative, and he was successful at selling me the tub. I went for Safe Step over other companies because of the warranty, the micro bubble system, and the fact that it's a medical device. The only problem was they didn't really address my water heater capacity. It uses more water than my water heater can provide. I didn't really find out until after it was installed that I needed more of a water heater. Also, I was concerned that the electrical wasn't re-done because the salesman said that they were going to install a higher amperage wire for the tub itself, and they used the one that was existing. It's only 12-gauge and I was concerned about that, but everybody seemed to think that was okay, so I let it slide. Finally, my wife thinks the installation team scratched her countertops but I have no way to prove that. But other than that, they were fine.

Safe Step is the greatest thing ever invented for me because I could relax with it. I can’t fill the tub all the way that I like it because my water heater is not that big. I start with the hot water and when that starts going cool, I turn it off. It only gets to about where I’m sitting on the chair and that's all the water I have. So I do all the sprinkling and spraying while the water is running. When it gets too cold, I had to do the same thing before I got the tub or let it run a little until the temperature is right then I would lay there in an hour or two and read until it gets cold. The shower spa is great because when I want to rinse it off or rinse the hair, it's perfect.
The installation team were right at it. I was surprised they got through so soon. They were very careful, good and polite. They’re going to finish the bathroom. They’re tiling it all around and it’s going to be beautiful. They explained everything before they left but I have to read the directions again for the buttons (I don't understand all the buttons but I'm getting there).
But the first time I used it, it’s wrinkled everything and I had a wood floor laminated. I don’t want to get that wet and it's like two hours drying the walls. Then, I called Mike and asked him about it. He said, “The little buttons in the back – push them down and you won’t get that sprinkling at the top.” I saw it and it worked. Then I put bubble bath in there and it made so many bubbles I couldn’t see the change in the water. It’s supposed to change water. I also couldn’t see the water for the bath with the bubbles so I put a little capful and that made it perfect. It was really nice. It's got a good feeling too, the one you get in a sauna. The crystals make the skin really smooth and they dissolve in the water. It’s worked perfectly and I love it. It was wonderful and I really enjoy my bath time because it’s the one thing I take my time with – just relax, take it easy.

One thing we did find out is we have a 50-gallon hot water tank, and it takes about 60 gallons to load the tub. That's a bit of a snag, it takes so long for the water to go in and out of the tub.
Also, I was trying to consume some of the water space so the water would fill faster. I filled plastic gallon jugs with water to help fill in the space, but they just float. If anybody at Safe Step has a solution, then I would be willing to try it. But other than that, the Safe Step tub has some wonderful perks and my husband has enjoyed it several times. It sets an ambiance where I can relax because my muscles get real tight and cause me pain. It massages and eases my back and stimulates my bones and blood circulation in my legs, which I have major trouble with.
It has really been a relaxing tub for me to have. I had been enjoying it immensely. I'd definitely recommend the tub for what it has done for me. I don't have to pay a doctor. It's a miracle worker. My legs, from the knees down, don't have much feeling in them because I've got both herniated disc soft tissue, hard tissue degenerative bone disease, solid bone back. It really helped my legs when I got in but it's not too fun to take a bath. I tried to take a bath and it's not real warm water. But my husband has been sitting down taking a shower so he likes it. We're waiting on the hot water heater and got one ordered from the gas company, as they had told us ours wasn't enough.
I like the tub's micro bubbles. The jets help my back and legs tremendously because they go right out there on my back. I thoroughly enjoyed it. I got one of those plastic tubs with the ropes on the side. We put the tub in front of the door and I use the handle shower and it's got a button that will get it on and off. I could wet my hair real good and cut the water off and it's left hanging up there. I put the shampoo on, take the shower thing, turn it on, rinse good and lay it right back over the edge of the tub and it was fantastic. That was the best I had been able to wash my hair. And he said something like, “Well, we have, I think, four sizes or something.” I got the tub for my husband. He’s not a great, big guy but he is 186 or 196 lbs. and he has scoliosis. That means he has a problem sitting up straight. I seem to feel that when I try to put him in it, it’s close for him. He also has had a stroke and he’s weak on one side so it’s hard getting him into anything. But other than that, when the guy called me to say he was going to come and put the tub in, they did it so fast and they were efficient. I would recommend Safe Step Walk-in tubs.

The Safe Step sales rep did a good job in explaining everything to me, and the installation team didn’t have much of a problem because it was a new home. They had a few things they needed to connect but that was settled last Friday. I haven’t used it because I haven’t moved to my new home but they explained everything to me, so everything was good.

In fact, he lived not far from us and he said we could even come to his home and take a look and sit in his tub. He also showed us the tub that he brings with the vehicle he had. We bought a bigger model than what we saw. The installation team was very efficient and neat. They explained everything to us and were quite good at what they did.

The Safe Step Tubs representative that came to the house was excellent. He had a van with a tub in it to show. He's one of the few across the states that had it. That was a good initiative on his part. I recommend Safe Step to people who are getting older in their age and want to get the benefits of the devices that it provides for cleansing your skin and feeling relaxed. It's excellent.

Only because it was a little bit of a pain in the butt to remove the old tub before they can install the new one.

I got rid of a big whirlpool at home that had 75 gallons. We never used it because it has to use up so much water. However, the tub I got from Safe Step is also 75-gallon. It's my own fault. There were a few things I forgot and I wasn't thinking before I put it in. I would've never gotten this. We don't use the tub as much as I thought. I'm not happy at all with the whole situation. The workers were good and did everything. All they did was check to make sure I had a big enough hot water tank, and they weren't happy to say how much was in there.

The installation team did a professional job and were quick as I had my people build out everything because we remodeled the bathroom. We had to build it out to the specs. The salesperson came out with the tub in the truck and that was very good. Everyone was very professional and nice. He encouraged me to refer sales to him, which I had tried doing but most of my friends can’t afford it. Safe Step's a little expensive and with redoing the whole bathroom, that made the total cost so much more. There’s nothing to do about that. That’s what happens when getting the newest, top-of-the-line stuff. But everything was great and I’m really pleased with the tub.

The sales representative at Safe Step showed us a video that's quite impressive. But the final product is not what we've expected and there's no showroom that we could go to actually see one. I'm not totally happy with the price we paid. When you buy a vehicle you want to test drive it. But there was no way to test drive a tub and the price is that of a used vehicle. Nevertheless, it might have been a bad decision on my part and I'm a little disappointed in myself for going through with something that's so expensive and not be able to actually try it out firsthand before we bought it.
I do understand that it's more of a medical device or apparatus that we use. The safety features are there and there are only a little tweaks and twerks about it that I wished I had rethought it a little longer. The tub is not quite long enough. They don't give you enough options there. It was the only one-size-fits-all type thing. So it could've been a few inches longer. The location of the jets for your feet should have been closer together because, when you're taking a bath, you don't always spread your feet apart.
If I were paying so much money, they should give more options and more custom fit or custom design because everybody's different. Nobody is the same length, height, and weight. That's going to work for me in the next eight years that I'm paying for it, so I'm trying to convince myself to be happy with what I've got. I bought it more for my wife. She fell out of the tub a time or two. Overall, at least she'll be safer in the time that we use it.

I want to see if they can send somebody by or if they can fix it by telling me what to do. But other than that, the men from Safe Step were so good at keeping everything neat and clean. They cleaned up and I didn't have a thing to clean up afterwards. I expected to have a mess but not a thing. They were excellent and it was done in one day. I have a pretty new home, and had a really nice shower where the Safe Tub went into. When the salesman came in my home, he told me that they would take the shower out and put the tub wherever I wanted. The shower was put in after the bathroom was in so I knew it would fit through the door. But when the installation came, all of a sudden, I see them carrying out my shower in pieces. They took it all apart instead of taking it out in one piece. I was going to put it down in my basement.
And when I walked in, my Tongue-and-Groove flooring was pulled apart right where the Safe Tub was going to be. Instead of them putting the flooring back together again, they put the tub in. So I told the installers that that piece of wood should be together. They tried to do it after the tub was in by reaching in and trying to put a screw and pulling it together. They were able to pull it together a little bit but it's still a quarter of an inch apart. I had to cover it up with a rug, but they should have done that better.
Also, they took off the baseboard and said it’s hard to get it back right. They didn’t have it right next to the wall. It’s a brand new home so it was at the wall before they took that baseboard off. They caulked the space between the wall and the baseboard instead of getting it back to where it was. They caulked it all the way along that wall and behind the toilet, and they left six inches that they didn’t caulk. It shouldn't been caulked in the first place because the walls are straight. I’m very dissatisfied with the construction.

Safe Step Walk-in Tub is the best thing I ever bought. I love it and I know it's the only one made in the USA and that makes a big difference. Everybody that I’ve shown it to, they have loved it. I'm disabled and I got a shower that’s got a seat, but there's nothing to hold on to. It was getting really, really tough for me because I had a garden tub but I couldn't get in it because I've got nerve damage. The nerve damage has affected my legs and hands and everything so when I saw Safe Step Walk-in tub advertised on TV I go, "That's what I need right there."
I called, made them come out, spent three hours here, and I figured, "Oh man, this tub’s gonna cost a fortune." But it wound up it was cheaper than everybody else and a better guarantee. Everybody else was only guaranteeing their tubs for a year but this one’s guaranteed for life. Since installation, the jets really help a lot in massaging me and I feel better because I've got back problems and my legs. There’s nothing wrong with this tub and if anybody wants to call me and ask me about the tub, I'd be more than happy to talk to them.

I'm very dissatisfied with Safe Step Walk-in Tubs. Though the sales representative who came to the house was very nice, and the guys who installed the tub were great. I got to use the tub twice and each time we had a total flood that even one time went so far as into the basement. When I turn on the jets and lean back against them, the water goes out over my shoulders onto the back of the tub and then goes into the floor. That's a problem I'd like to know how to rectify.
They need to go into more specific ways that the water is not going to come out over the tub and the shower curtain. We had to cut a shower curtain. When they called, they said, it would have to have a 48-inch shower curtain, but there is no such thing. I tried my best to get a hold of somebody and I haven't reached anybody yet. We liked what the salesperson had to say about Safe Step but we felt we were a little mislead by him because he was telling us about when we could start making payments. They would send us the payment booklet. It was an old fashioned concept but we thought it was neat that they still did that. There are companies out there that still did that and that we could go ahead and pay because he gets the settlement each year. So we were going to pay a whole year with that settlement, one month at a time filling out the payments for each month and sending it in that way.
We received our first statement this week and they don't do that, and I can't pay ahead on it. We're going to have to take the time and trouble to open a separate statement account and put the settlement money into that. And then take out of that every month to pay them which is a little of an inconvenience for us but not majorly. It deals with consumers more than the feature, that he should explain that to them. That he should know how it works on the financing side. And if he doesn't know or not sure, he'd have to contact the finance company. And for that, they do something that they don't.
The installation team went above and beyond with trying to preserve our existing enclosure which was a large shower. So we could either sell it or keep it if we ever moved. If we wanted to take the tub with us, they can put it back in there. That was pretty good. I like the aromatherapy and that's nice. Although it is a little struggle trying to find the right kind of one because most of them, they would dissolve in the bath and I know that it has oils in it that can mess up the tub so we can't get that kind but I think we found them now. That way we have some options for some different scents other than the one that come with it. I use the shower feature most often which is nice to have that as well as the tub feature. I've only used the tub feature once or twice and I like it. It improves my husband's condition. He's been in a significant amount of leg pain after being in the tub than before we got it.

After he fixed it, he did it, and now we can't use it because the one we have is for 40. The hot water tank is not good enough. We can't use it with so much water. I'm going to get some cement blocks and put them in there so it uses less water. That way, I can use my 300 tank. They told me I should get 400 at least. If I were designing it, I would make it hold a lot less water (less a foot down in the bottom). There's a lot of wasted water and water is expensive now.
