My husband and I are getting to where we can't stand up in the shower and can't get in and out of a regular bathtub. So, we chose to go with Safe Step because we could sit in it. They have good reps and the installation team that came was fantastic. They showed me everything about it and even cleaned up after they were done. I really like the water jets. I feel more relaxed and the MicroSoothe exfoliates which helps with my skin. My husband and I use it and everything has been great.

We've been thinking about Safe Step Walk-in Tub for sometime before, and we decided to call them when I saw them in an ad on TV. Their sales rep seemed very nice and their installation team did a good job. So far, we're enjoying it. It's really good. One of the burners on my hot water heater went out and I didn’t have a lot of hot water, but I put a new hot water heater in and now I'm fine.

I was very pleased with the sales rep from Safe Step and I feel very safe in the tub. It's so expensive that I was a little bit hesitant at first. I'm only in my 70s and most of their advertisers are in their 80s. But I have balance issues and I was so afraid to get in and out of my other tub. So I thought, why wait for something so expensive? I could go ahead and get it now before I have a fall or something like that. I like the water massage, hydrotherapy, microbubbles and that I can put my feet up, relax in it and just read my puzzles. I can still take a shower but I love my tub that I can really sit and soak in. It is a good spa experience and I feel that I deserve it.

The Safe Step sales representative I talked to was very knowledgeable. He was able to explain the warranties and different models to me and I got lifetime warranty parts and labor. The installation team was excellent. They did a great a job and they cleaned up so well after themselves. I was very pleased. I haven't had a chance to use the tub that much but it's a great thing to have. I've just had hip replacement surgery so I haven't been able to get back in it quite yet. I am so looking forward to the jets working on my back. I'm very pleased with Safe Step and I like the fact they're made in Tennessee. I also like the fact that the guy from Atlanta called me to let me know what they were doing, was finishing up my tub and when they were delivered. Everybody that I've dealt with has been wonderful.

We were taking showers all the time and I couldn't stand up long enough to take a good shower and we'd been having trouble getting out of our regular bathtub. So we decided we want to get something a little safer. The sales rep we spoke with was good and the installation team did a really good job and cleaned up everything. I'm having a back problem, but I can get in the Safe Step tub and just relax. The massaging shooters help as well. Everything has been so much better since having our Safe Step tub installed. The experience has been good so far and I'd recommend it.

I liked Safe Step's complete assembly. It's well-worth the price. The sales rep was great and the installers were very good, very accommodating and quick. I'm pretty stressed out right now but the tub helps with what's going on here right now. I get relaxed after using it and I like the jets in the tub.

It has been a good experience with Safe Step and I'm enjoying the tub. One of the jets at the feet comes out on a regular basis, so then we will stick and pop it back in there. But those two seem to come out with the water pressure. They're not hard to stick back in there, but they're not very stable in the tub. But I'm seeing benefits from the tub. I have a lot of physical pain, so at times I go in there and use the Epsom salt and relax, then it helps me sleep better. I really like it although it's quite an investment.
The rep was great, too. However, I expected him to call me at some point to make sure if it was installed and to see if I had any questions or concerns, but I haven't had any follow-up from him, and I would appreciate one. The installation was a little bit rough. The people were very nice, but they weren't going to finish the things they messed up. There needed to be some wall patching, and some paint put on. We were told by our consultant that when they left, it would be remodeled. It would look as if somebody came in and remodeled our bathroom and it would look the same. Because it's a brand new house, I was really scared about messing up my tile. So my husband pretty much told them that they had to come back the second day to finish it up and they did what we asked. I would definitely recommend Safe Step. However, it's way too costly for a lot of people that I would want to refer to it.

The guy that sold the Safe Step tub to me never said there were two different sizes. After they put it in, I called them about something and they said that I got the taller one which takes 20 minutes to fill up. I’ve only used it twice. I could've gotten the smaller one which would've been cheaper but the sales rep was more interested in selling the bigger sized one because he would get more money on it. I would've been more satisfied if it had been the smaller one. Other than that, the installers did a nice job of putting it in. They were just about done when we had a power interruption. They said I should call them if the power came back on and it did about 15 or 20 minutes after they left. I called them and they came right back and finished the job.

My husband had trouble getting in our old tub so he wanted one that was a bit easier to get in and out of, and the Safe Step Walk-in Tub has been better than I thought it would be. We've been enjoying it. We had a nice talk with the sales rep, then it was really nice that the installers cleaned up after the installation. Compared to other providers, Safe Step's quality seems better, was more reliable and would have more customer support with the sales response to my inquiry. My interactions with their sales rep was good. However, contrary to what she advised not to have my old tub replaced, I decided to supplement my existing bathroom on the first floor which is much more accessible to me than the second floor bathroom which would have left me with a full bathroom upstairs.
They should be selling their product to be installed to supplement, rather than replace, existing facilities. They offered a way of bringing the handheld shower spray unit up on a post and keep it in place. But if we use it as a shower, it really does not lend itself to showering. We can use it to rinse off hair or the inside of a tub but I would discourage any promotion of the handheld unit as a substitute for a shower. They should promote it as a very effective and comparable way of soaking and relieving aches and pains that supplements the daily routine of hygiene using a shower with different functions. So if they take a daily shower, it’s good to have what they already got to provide that, and then use the Safe Step in another nearby location where plumbing is available to have a sitting and soaking feature which is nice.
I was very impressed with their installation team. It may be just luck of the draw in terms of who services this area but they were thorough and took it nice, and gave advice when I asked for it. But when they enclosed this walk-in tub they put acrylic panels on the end and they used something which leaves very sharp corners. The unit itself is made with it and it looks like about an 8-inch radius that just pick off that sharp corner. And right below the manufactured edge is this sharp installation edge. It’s very minor compared to the overall installation, but it would be nice if they sand or file that off around it in the same way that the main tub is constructed.
It’s much easier to sit in this walk-in tub than it is to get down into a regular bathtub that’s on the floor level. And, if I want to soak my feet, I can do that and work it all the way up to my back and hips. The most frivolous thing about the tub is the lighting - whether they light or not. I had the walk-in tub installed before I had these latest nuisance injuries such as a sprained ankle, a sprained foot and a pulled muscle in my back throughout the hip. Ironically, I got this thing before I really needed it. But now that I need it more than ever, I’m glad I had it installed. I do think the price is rather outrageous, but overtime that will spread itself out. And the more I use it, the lesser is the per unit of cost of each use.

My tub is leaking, have notified installer, Safe Step, BBB, ABC News and no one will wants to help me. It's like I don't exist, the tub is leaking in my basement, the tub door is leaking, it's falling apart. I wish that I had never heard of these people. They advertise in my American Legion and AARP magazines and naive me thought they were being endorsed by the American Legion and AARP. Again I guess if you pay, you can play. We heard somebody in Barren County had gotten a Safe Step tub and we got interested in it. We checked with Lowe’s and there was one which was put in and completed. But in Lowe’s, they send out somebody to put it in for you and you have to pay them separately which was not right. With Safe Step, the sales rep was perfect. He had a van and a bathtub hooked up in the back of it. We checked it right there on the spot. The installers worked hard and the work was done in a day. It’s hard to get used to all the controls on it, but it's fine once you do. The tub could help with aches and pains too. I’ve told people about it. We were told that if we found a friend or a relative that would buy one, we'd be given $500. That’s quite a bit of money for telling somebody about it.

I'm impressed with Safe Step Walk-in Tubs since it's made in America. I like the water pressure that massages my back, but the two jets near the front and back of the legs don't do a whole lot for me. They should have been up a little higher for the legs. I have back trouble and the pain isn't really in my back. It always goes down the legs, all the way up above the knees. Some of them go all the way from the hip bone down. Safe Step was going to put the tub inside the bathroom in my room, which was small. Their representative told me that he thought the tub should be put in the big bathroom to which I agreed with. However, I saw in the bathroom that the tub itself was so small. It looks like they put in the tub that was meant for the other bathroom and put in a big one in the very small bathroom.
The tub I ended up with is only five feet five inches with a plastic shelf on the wall. They told me they don't make them any bigger so I went up to Lowe's and checked them to see if they indeed don't make larger tubs. There was a six-foot tub there so I couldn't see why the tub wasn't bigger in such a big space. My bathroom wall could accommodate another foot of tub. I've given them over $10,000 but I had troubles going into the tub and the dials. With the first, I had to open the door and sit on the tub floor before I turn the water. So I sit there with no clothes on, waiting for the water to reach above my knees. I was disappointed that I couldn't use the tub without sitting on the floor. That's fine for a five-year-old kid but I'm an 83-year-old woman.
I talked to Robert, saying I want someone to come and explain why I'm having these two troubles. Their representative told me that my water pressure isn't good enough. I asked and she said the water pressure wasn't tested. When I spoke to Robert, he asked me to see how many minutes it takes for the water to hit the first step. I did that and told him it took eight minutes. He confirmed that it's enough pressure. I spoke to him four times about this problem. He said he'll see to it and send Terry but Terry never came and I never heard from Robert again. It's a beautiful tub which costs thousands of dollars too. At Lowe's, Safe Step tubs were going for $8,000 but I got mine for $14,000. Still, I wouldn't recommend it, especially going through the experience of having to get in it.

It also helps in the swelling of her legs but her legs are so big and when she tries to shut the door, she doesn't have enough room so she doesn't know if she can reverse the door on that or not. I'd recommend Safe Step. If they could reverse the door for us, my mother would enjoy it better.

The installation team completed everything and it looked fantastic in there. There's no cure for my aches and pains but I'm enjoying the Micro.

I love my Safe Step tub. My main reason of buying it is that all of its parts are made in the United States. So if I need anything done or replaced, I know I have a good warranty on it and I feel good that I can call someone in the United States and the company would come and fix it. My favorite feature is that I can put on the bubbles and then the microbubbles come through. I can relax. It's like an aquatic therapy for me because of the disabilities that I have with my knees and my ankles. Also, I feel very safe as there's not much room where I can move around and hurt myself in the tub. Plus, I like that it's a low step in, very easy to clean and maintain. I go to my bathroom and I also love the lights. The two people that installed it were excellent. They were kind and knew what they were doing. They showed me everything I needed to do.

All the interactions with the Safe Step representatives that we had were good. Plus, their installers were nice. However, my mom got stuck in the basin trying to get the tub unplugged because the release for the drain was messed up. So I called Safe Step but nobody called me back, so I had to call 911 to get a fireman. There were three firemen out here to get her out. That was not a really good experience. But the salesperson I called the next morning, who also came in our house initially, got in touch with somebody and got him over really quickly, so the salesperson was on the ball. He got the guy over within about an hour and a half that morning, and they fixed it. Outside of that, there's a lot of neat features, and my mom has liked the tub a lot.

I had called Premier Care and I had a representative to come out. He was real pushy and didn't give me a lot of information so I started doing some research and I saw that they did not get a very good rating from Better Business Bureau. The rating wasn't as good as Safe Step. I then called them and got someone to come. The Safe Step sales rep wasn't just selling a product but was concerned about my mom's health issues. She was telling how the tub would possibly help as far as her legs were concerned and some other issues that my mom has.
He took his time to go through everything and my mom is someone who doesn't readily buy anything the first day so she was hesitant then, but he wasn't pushy unlike the rep before. My mom couldn't afford the first tub that he had mentioned but he found a way and called his boss and they talked and offered a 2015 model that did exactly the same thing. He kept working until he found something that was in the price range that we could afford. I like his mannerism overall.
The installation team was great even though I was hesitant that the installation could be done in a day. I thought there was going to be a lot of noise, taking the old tub out and putting a new tub in. The noise level was just amazing. While they were working, I would go in and check. I would ask questions and they would stop and answer them.
Overall, they were awesome as far as I'm concerned. He showed me first because my mom was in another room and it just took time for her to come to her room. And so I was telling him, I said, "I want you to show me but then you're going to have to go over this again." And he said, "No problem" and he took time to go step by step again with my mom. The very process that he took me through, he took her through. Questions that she had, he took time. He didn't seem to be pressed for time as long as it took her to understand.
He was real patient and worked with her until she felt like she understood how to operate the tub. They got there on the time when they said they were getting in. We just had little brief conversations about what they did in general and how they got into the business, and they would stop and talk to us and they were just amazing as far as I'm concerned. I told them if I would get one, I would definitely ask for them to come. That's how good they were. My mom is enjoying Safe Step. She's finally able to get the bath that she has wanted for quite a while. She feels safe and secure in it and she's learning the mechanism and how to operate the jets and bubbles.

I needed a walk-in tub quick, and when I called, Safe Step was the one that took the call. I didn't realize they're quite that expensive to purchase. I knew that it's going to be high but I didn't think it'd be that high. But I had to have it. I like the tub's feet part where the jets are. Sometimes they shoot out quite a bit of water in the back part, but I like the feet better. I'd recommend Safe Step.

I like my Safe Step tub very much, although I haven't figured out how to get all the jets and everything working correctly yet. The knob that controls the leg and the back jets seems to be set in a funny place, so it's hard for me to get them going. I can reach it but I can't get it to operate correctly and I must not have the sequence down right. But other than that, it has really made my life so much better, not just the soaking when it's full of water, but also using it for showering and washing my hair. It made a tremendous difference in my life. I would definitely recommend it.

The sales rep gave me the basic information about Safe Step tub. The installation team took the time to tell me not to use it for 24 hours, showed me where the motor was, which parts come off of it, where another tank was and then just stay well ventilated. They also showed me how to clean it. I like the tub but I don't think the tub gives you enough room to get in it. It's a nice tub but it doesn't give you enough room to really stretch out and relax like you need to to get the full effect of it.

Safe Step's features were as good as the other companies and their warranty was close. They are a lot better than the others, but they could’ve still done a lot better with the price. Their sales rep was good. When he came in, I told him not to discuss everything because I already had two guys out from other companies, so I know what’s going on. I just need him to give me the short ins and outs and he did exactly what I asked him to do. He was at my house for 30 minutes, and then hit me with a final price. The installation was very good. The installers were very neat and cleaned up. I like the water massaging jets. I had two torn rotator cuffs, and the water massage has helped them out. Also, I don’t have to worry about trying to crawl out. I just step in and step out. I’m 65 now, and I get in it every night, so I’m planning for the future.

I like that it has a heated seat and back. However, it takes 10 minutes to fill it up and takes too long to empty, and I have to stay in the tub until it drains below the door. If they could just let it fill up like my other tub and then get in it, it would be great. Also, my feet don’t quite touch the floor, so the jets down below for the legs don’t hit me. But the installation team were polite, courteous, and cleaned up after themselves, and they couldn’t have been better. The rep was great as well. I was looking for a bath tub for Virginia, the person I take care of, so I did some research, and some of the tubs out there are fixed walk-in bathtubs. I wanted to go with a reputable company, so I went with Safe Step. The sales representative was very professional. We had a presentation and she measured the bathtub and where the space was going to see if it'd fit or not. The installation team came and pulled a lot of stuff out of the shower, the tiles and everything else. They also cleaned up after themselves when they left.
Virginia really likes the bathtub but I've got a little problem because the installers put the door on the left side which was supposed to be on the right, so she has issues navigating that. We had to get her in there the first time and see that there's not enough room when the door swings for her to open and she gets caught behind the seat. She also gets caught behind the door and then I have to swing the door and that's not working. But other than that, she's very happy with the tub.

The sales representative from Safe Step did a good job. The installation team did what they were supposed to do as well. I have a very bad back and I like the power of the jets, which is good. That was my main reason for looking for a tub like that plus I thought maybe the quality would be better. But there are so many things about it that I don’t like. If I’m in the tub and wanted to change the control that changes the jets from the back to the legs and feet towards the front, I have to lean forward to reach the control buttons over the faucet side. But if I move at all the least bit with my back off the jets, water sprays all over the wall. It goes everywhere including over a mirror on the wall. I have a very hard time trying to get the water cleaned off the mirror then and with the water hitting like that, I'm afraid the water’s going to loosen the backing that's holding that mirror, and if that huge mirror would fall, it could be deadly.
Also, I have to get in the tub and wait for the water to fill up because I can't have the door open. And the tub is very cold. It got the heated seat but that takes a while to get heated. So I have to stand in there while the water's filling up. When I’m done using it, I have to sit in there and wait until the water is out before I can open the door. I don't like that. So all in all, it costs way more than it was worth. $14,000 for a bathtub is ridiculous. Another thing was that it says it includes installation but what happened was a limited or incomplete installation because the tub was in but it cost me another $600 or $700 to get the tile fixed because they don't do tile work.

Her legs hurt pretty bad so sometimes she fills the tub halfway up so that the jets will work around her legs. Other times, she fills the tub right up and it worked out good, but she doesn’t like the amount of water that it takes. She’s conscious about her water bill.
As for me, there are two drawbacks that I see in it, and it probably could be corrected in the newer model that they’re making. One is that the shower, where the hose goes down through the top of the tub, is leaking. It leaks down when I'm taking a shower. It doesn’t seem to be a big deal to my sister, but I noticed it. And then another thing, if I'm sitting in the tub and get water in the right-hand corner facing away from me, it runs out from down the side and down under the floor. Other than those, it’s fine.

It's wonderful so far with Safe Step. We love our walk-in tub. The reps explained it to us really good and made sure we know how to work it. It looks a lot different than the other ones that we've seen on TV. It's built better all the way around. It's built to where the door pushes in because they left a swerve in the space there so that the door can push in and not out, and then we could pull the door. We've got room for our knees to push the door shut. It's just right for us.
They put a shower curtain inside the tub to go around, so we can't put the shower up on the wall. There's an attachment up there. We could hang the showerhead up on the wall and use it up there. But if we do that, it gets wet up on the back of that little place where the spigots are, and there's like a little shelf up above the spigots that gets wet, then water drizzles off of that shelf and goes to the floor. So, we'd have to use the shower by holding the showerhead with our hands, and that'll work out too. We're just waiting now to have someone get our well dug deeper so that we can keep enough water to always be able to fill the tub, and we're going to get a grant for that.

My experience with Safe Step has been wonderful. It turned out to be just what I wanted and I'm really enjoying it. They gave me more options to choose from. Their sales rep was easy to contact and was able to explain the products to us. When the installation team came, they presented themselves and told me who they were. They checked it out and told me how long they would be. They cleaned up after they were done and it was nice when they left. I have the trouble of falling. So with the handheld shower, I can still sit and wash my whole body without getting up and down. I feel less pain especially in my legs, knees, and feet since having it. I'm very satisfied with them and I get so many comments from the members of my church and the people of my age who'd been in that they were considering the things that I received with my bathtub and they had never heard of anything like that.

I would recommended Safe Step. Their installation team was a hoot. I love them. They were very nice. I only hope that the jets would be stronger. I've had another tub in the past and I love the jets on it. It’s really very beneficial for my back and knees. These jets on my Safe Step are just too gentle. I hope there is way to turn them up.

I’ve used our Safe Step Walk-in Tub for five times already. I bought it for my wife because she had an aneurysm and when she's able to go downstairs to get in it, I want it to help heal her better. My favorite is the back massager for my bad back. However, the tub should be drained if it's been filled up too high to get all the scum off. There should be a little drain that sucks that off as that scum is not good.
The installation team took away the shower connections as well as supply line, shower head and faucet which I wanted because I was going use them. They probably threw them away. However, they left me the drains. But it's the idea and all the copper that I wanted as it was about $50 worth of copper. The shut-off valves, quick valves and everything I had were perfect. I got unions and couplings on it. That’s why, if anything went wrong with any part of the shower, all I had to do was use a wrench and take it apart. So far, it has been a wonderful experience.

I have another walk-in tub in my house in Florida and I liked it. When I heard more about Safe Step, I checked into it and liked its features better so I wanted to try a different one at this house and so I put the Safe Step tub in. I set this all up last year and the sales representative was very pleasant and explained the whole Safe Step experience. Then the installation team did an excellent job and was very pleasant. Everything was put in and cleaned up. At that time my water pressure was not real good and they're the ones that told me about it, they were very informative. The tub calmed me down more since I've used it. I like the fact that I can fill it partially and use it for my legs. I also like the microbubbles, the lighting, and the aromatherapy. I'm enjoying it.

We've talked with a couple of other tub people but we didn't like them. But when we talked to the Safe Step guy, he was real nice. He showed us one of the tubs, which he had in a van. It was a large tub, but he said we didn't need that. So, we went with what he recommended, but when it got in here, I didn't have a half inch space on each side of me. We were not pleased with that, but the installation people called around and they had a tub somewhere else. This was on a Saturday and they went and brought the tub to us and installed it on a Sunday, so that was no problem. My wife likes and really enjoys it.

The Safe Step tub is wonderful. My aunt got a tub already four years ago and only paid $12,000. There was an ad that said I'd get $2,000 off if I bought the Safe Step bathtub, but I had to pay more for mine. Their representative led me to believe that they would install everything and also told me I needed a new hot water tank, so I bought it and paid to have it installed but the installers didn't put it in. I had to spend another $1,000 for that hot water tank, plus the installation. So, all in all, I paid $14,000 for my tub. The tub is the grandest thing and nice to have. I love the tub. When I am deciding to take my bath, I go in there and push the heater because that seat is cold and it warms up. Also, I can take the nozzle, spray my hair, wash and rinse it and take my shower. When I'm not in a hurry, I can sit in there, fill it up, and enjoy.

I got in my Safe Step walk-in tub and it eased it off and I was able to get out, get in my bed and go to sleep. My favorite feature of the tub is the massage since I can adjust it, but my least favorite is the heated seat because it gets too hot. Other than that, it has been a wonderful, exuberant and pleasant experience with Safe Step. The price was so much lower than what we had been quoted by some other companies. Their sales rep was very polite and pleasant, and explained everything to us in detail. Their installation team was very courteous and cleaned up after themselves. They ran into a problem but they solved it, explained to me everything that I needed to know about the tub before they left, like how to clean and care for it. We already had a couple of different estimates, but the salesman from Safe Step who came out was extremely helpful and very prepared. He answered all of my questions, and it seemed like the product was just more quality than the others. My husband had a stroke, so the salesman then offered some other suggestions because we were a little confused if we were gonna get the tub or the shower. He was just very knowledgeable and expressed his opinion in a very caring way and answered everything that we asked.
There were supposed to be two guys to do the installation but only one came. But, He worked really hard and did a fabulous job all on his own. Then the salesman did make a follow-up call after the installation to make sure that everything was okay. He asked about the condition of my husband and how things were going. He didn't have to, but he chose to do that and I was very impressed by it. My husband just came home Monday from the nursing home and have not had the opportunity to use the shower, but our overall experience has been completely satisfactory and better than I ever imagined. I've even talked to the social workers at the nursing home and gave them their information if ever someone is asking for any type of renovation for their bathroom.

When I put my jets on, water hit the ceiling, and I had to clean up the water. Also, in my first time to use the tub, I didn't latch the door well. I thought that the tub is taking a long time to fill up. I looked over the side and saw it was full of water. I have a couple of problems and I’m still waiting for somebody from Safe Step to come back. The cold water faucet is hot, and the hot water faucet is cold. Also, when they installed it, they had to do a surround to fill in the spot. They had me get in and sit in it to take a picture right after it was installed. From the front of the seat to the back of the tub, there’s a split where the tub meets the surround. They need to come back and fill that in. The Safe Step sales person was great at first but then it was hard to get a hold of him afterwards. We didn't find him too open and ready to help on our particular questions. There were some things we don't like about the tub. I'm six-foot and I have to really squeeze my feet around to get around the door. I didn't like that the door swings in as well. The tub was also supposed to come with a sliding shower attachment but it didn't, so I had to order an extra one. It was also annoying at first that the shower hose sticks but that finally stopped. Most of the time my wife just takes a shower in the tub, not a bath.
When I was in a Jacuzzi tub, I could feel the pressure of the water coming from the jets. With the Safe Step tub however, I couldn't feel this pressure somehow. I also didn't feel the bubbles. My wife was having trouble getting in and out of the bathtub, and she hates showers, so we got a Safe Step walk-in tub. Here we are a month later, and my wife has used it several times. I’m not a bath person, I’m a shower person, but she’s trying to get me to get in it. We’ve been quite happy with the product. My wife is still trying to figure out all the gadgetry and I help her get it filled up and things started and go through the procedure, but she can handle it by herself right now because it’s simplified. She just has to remember what steps to go through. We had the laminated thing that shows what steps to go through that the installers gave us. It’s a prompt up at the end of the tub and she can reference that. It’s been a delightful addition to our household.
My wife loves it. She likes the microbubbles, but mostly, sitting in with the jets blowing. We just got into our 70s so we develop different aches and pains every day. I’m not sure if it's fewer or not after the tub was installed, but my wife likes the jets beating up on her since it relaxes her. In addition, my grandchildren love the different lights. I had to show them all the different colored lights.
The sales rep and the installation people were exceptional. They took the time and the effort to run through the whole thing. I’m a retired engineer so I’d like all the steps to be right, and they took care of all that. The sales rep left a number and gave us the name of the installation people that were coming and she had given us a good briefing on what to expect, and everything turned out perfectly. The installation team walked me through exactly what they were going to do. They said there was going to be a little bit of noise when taking the old one out. My wife at that time was a little bit incapacitated but we were pre-warned on everything, so it went very smoothly. In fact, it was amazing that they said they’d be here at 8:00 and take four hours. They got here a minute before 8:00, and were gone three minutes before 12:00. That’s precision.
We’ve already recommended it to several people and bragged about it a little bit. The price tag is a little stiff for a bathtub. It’s like going out and buying a car. That’s the only real drawback. In fact, it took us a little bit of thought process. The representative kept working with us, suggesting different things, options, and the benefits. We finally conceded that we were going to buy it. Our overall experience has been fine. Everything has gone smoothly. However, I’ve never seen any bill. In the beginning, I am going to pay $450 a month for 18 months. And now, I don’t know who to pay, and nobody has ever sent me a bill or an email.

I was impressed how informative their people were and how knowledgeable the guy putting it in was because it was really easy for him to hook it up. We were watching on the installation and we have irritated him, but he just took it to one side like he was used to people.
My brother loves the tub. His foot has an ulcer on it due to diabetes, so I was concerned if he's gonna lose more, so I explained to him what the microbubbles are supposed to do. When he started using the microbubbles, the bottom of his foot is no longer bleeding as badly as it was. I’m going through a lot of physical stuff including cancer treatment and have a lot of trouble walking and getting around, while my wife just had a knee replacement. He also got that tub in here quicker than he’s ever done. The financing was done almost overnight.
Within the next week, the installation was done. I was also very impressed at how sensitive the installers were. They had to do some drilling and before they started, the guy came out into the hallway and my living room and started taking pictures off the wall. He said, “I don’t want to vibrate these down and wreck them.” Later on when they were done, it was ready to use. We didn’t have to clean up and they showed us how to use it.
My wife can’t use the tub yet because her knees haven’t healed, but it’s been great for me. I feel like I’m getting stronger every day. When I came back to the US, I was in an ambulance, in a wheelchair, and now I can go to the store and walk around. One has got to deliberately set time aside to take advantage of the tub. It would be a waste of time to rush in there and take a five-minute shower and rush out. On July 7, 2016 the installers came and tore out my seated shower and installed a Safe Step Walk-in Tub. When installed we were told not to use it for 3 days. When I attempted to bathe for the first time, I sat down to close the door and found that I was unable because my legs were in the way. We only have one bathroom and no other tub so my being 76 years old with disabilities had to step up with one leg on the high seat and squeeze back and call my husband to come into the bathroom to close the door to the tub.
It is not enough room to hardly move your arms outward to bathe yourself. Even my 98 year old mother who is smaller than myself and my husband had trouble lifting her legs and arms to bathe because the width of the space in the tub is too tight. My husband has the same complaint. We are very very disappointed and want to return the tub. We were not measured just asked what our weight was and did not know that it would not fit us comfortably when installed because we were told not to use it for 3 days. We are requesting that you please come and get your tub and refund us our money back for the purchase price we paid. And, no one has called us other than the lady who sold it to us and she has no power to resolve this matter. I have called again at 1-800-989-5101 and was referred to the Sales Manager Chris **. I left a message and am awaiting a return call.

When the old tub was taken out, a lot of rotted wooden stuff was found and we had to call a contractor in to fix that. The installation team had to stand down but after all the repairs were done, they came on right back and went on. It’s been about a month since they installed the tub and everything was good except for one thing. The tub was supposed to have come with a pole to attach the shower on to but it didn’t have that. They promised to come back and install it and I've called once a week ago but nobody has come yet so I'm still hoping they come. My wife likes the heated seat and I like being able to walk into the tub and I'm gonna have a knee replacement in a couple of days so I can walk in to the tub without stepping over the big lift.

My wife wanted a walk-in tub so I started doing research online. Safe Step was better-priced though what they were offering was equivalent to two other tub manufacturers. Their sales reps were very knowledgeable, professional and friendly. They laid out everything clearly as to what was gonna happen, what the process would be, what the features of the tub were, and why certain features were better than other feature tubs. The installation went smoothly. The team knew what they were doing, they handled everything professionally and looked very well. It only took them five hours to install and that worked for me. The dual jets and microbubbles are my favorite.

The Safe Step installation team was great. We were really amazed at how easy the guys came and quickly installed it. I like all the features of my tub because we can sit down or shower. The only problem we've got is the right-hand jet cover keeps blowing out. Every time we put it back in and turn it on again when we fill the tub and turn it on, the cover shoots back out.

We have a Safe Step walk-in tub that we got four years ago. We subsequently got a shower from them since it was cheaper than their competitors. I was happy with my tub when it came. I got it for my wife because she has a back problem and can’t step high. I now have a bad back, and I like to shower, and this worked out great. With my Safe Step walk-in shower, I like that I only have to step up two inches and it has plenty of grab bars. I feel safer because I can grab hold of something. The house was built in 1993, and my other shower that came with the house did not have grab bars.
The installation people were super. I kept asking them questions and they answered most of them, but when we got down to the end and the shower curtain, they had to call the home office because they did not have a copy of the contract. Evidently, there’s a communication problem between the people who sold the product and the people that put it in. The original contract was transposed onto another sheet of paper, and they left out the shower package, so when the guys got the contract to install the shower, their paperwork showed no shower curtain. My paperwork showed the shower curtain.
When they called the home office, they said that they would send me one in the mail which they did, except it was the wrong size. They sent me a shower curtain that goes with the walk-in tub, so two feet off the bottom has no shower curtain. I then went to Walmart and bought a shower curtain, hung it up and we moved on from there. It's not a big deal. Everything is functioning as it should and I’m pleased with it.

I've checked other companies and Safe Step’s been around longer and had the best record when I've checked with the BBB. I was at a point where I was interested in either their tub or shower conversions. We were looking at the tub but the more I looked at it, I thought I'm not a big tub person and wanted the shower more. I talked with a gentleman named Jim and he told me that maybe what I wanted was a shower conversion with a seat in it. Jim worked well with me and was honest in saying I'd be happier with the shower conversion even though it was half the money, which meant half his commission. He could’ve kept telling me how he could fix the Safe Step tub because they could’ve put a handheld shower, but I'm not going to be able to stand up in it and shower. I'm sure he really lost money on the sale as far as his commission.
My old, cast iron tub had the original faucets, which leaked all over the place, and I was petrified the whole time that Safe Step was going to be tearing it down that I'd end up with water damage and it would cost me more money. But there was nothing – no mold, no water damage, no nothing. I used to have panic attacks when I had to take a shower and I've gotten to where I only would take one a week because I was so horrified of getting in or out of the tub and I might fall, which I had before, because I've got problems with my hips and stuff.
I like everything about the work done. I enjoy my shower and I look forward to getting into it. Everything's pristine, pretty and easy to use. The installers put in a nice adjustable showerhead and an adjustment slide. They also had me come in when they were placing the safety rails to tell them where I wanted them placed for them to be useful to me. I also had a seat that was separate that they had to install and they did it to my height. I enjoy it and will enjoy it for the rest of my life. Overall, I was very pleased with the workmanship, professionalism and the quality of the materials that I've got. Everything about Safe Step was excellent. They did a great job and it was a very professional work.
The only issue was that they wanted me to sign the paper that would release the money from the finance company to pay the contractor that did the job ahead of time saying that I was happy with what I've got. They said they won't send it through and it would be dated when we're done. It's just that they deal with a lot of elderly people who sometimes won't sign anything after everything's done. I told them I won't sign it until I get what I get and I'm happy with it. But the finance company still wouldn't have released the money even though they got the paper because they called me after I signed the paper after the work was done to make sure I was happy before they released the money and that I didn't have any problems or need Safe Step to come back for anything.

I called Safe Step to get a price and they sent a salesman out. The sales rep was very knowledgeable about telling me how the tub was made and what materials it was made of. The installation team was very good. The only problem that I had with them was one of the guys poked a hole in a chair that I had in the bedroom. I called customer service right after the installation and the installer called me. I told him about the chair but he said he had a high deductible on his insurance so I have not pursued that with him but with the amount that I paid for the tub the chair should be covered with a re-cover. But other than that, the tub is great and I'm enjoying it.
I like the tub's heated seat, the lighting in it, and the jets. Since installing it I feel safer and it's helping my arthritis. I'm now using it instead of going to the wharf for water therapy. It's a great way to spend a little extra money if people have it. The tub is expensive but it's a very good thing for people to have the things that they're looking for in something therapeutic.

The presenter from Safe Step was knowledgeable and very friendly, and his presentation was excellent. He had the actual product in the back of his van and that's brilliant because to talk about it is one thing, but to actually see the product firsthand makes a huge difference. We also really liked the way the product was manufactured. It's very sturdy and solid, and has a high quality. My mother's favorite about it is the height of the seat and the easy drain location as she doesn't have to lean way over to drain the tub.

We had a misunderstanding with Safe Step. We had carpet down on the floor, and we asked the rep if we should go ahead and pull it back and she said no that they’ll do all that. The installers put the tub in and didn’t take the carpet out. I’m 62 years old and my husband is 68. He’s had a stroke and his shoulder is messed up and we had to go in there and take all that carpet out and cut it around and put a rug down. We took off $1,000 of the payment, but it was worth a whole lot more than that because we had a lot of work. Another thing is when the door is accidentally hit by a knee, it can come open and water will shoot out the door. It happened to my husband. We thought it was locked but he was able to open it with his knee. But I like the tub because it has bubbles in it in the feet.

The men who did the installation were helpful about doing things and they cleaned up after themselves. Everything's okay about Safe Step except it takes too long to fill up. The person who came out went downstairs, looked at my hot water heater and said it won't run out of hot water. Well it does before I can get it filled up. They also didn't tell me a thing about how long you sit there waiting for it to get filled up.
All it does is the jet, but I have to wait a long time for it to get filled up above the jets, behind my back. I asked them to come out and show me how to do a certain thing and the rep was nice about that. But the man who sold it never even contacted me back. Also, when I get in the tub and close the door, it's a bit hard to get out. They didn't put the end of it down where they were supposed to. I should have checked one out before I bought it. They did let me call a person or two. The person said they like it and she did tell me it took a little while to fill it up. I wish I could get my money back but it doesn't make any sense now. By the time they put my bath tub back in there, there's no telling how much they'd charge me. I wouldn't recommend them.

My husband liked Safe Step's presentation and when he called, the guy answered the questions that he had about it. I'm a shower person and my husband is interested in being able to take a bath in the tub. So I was the one that had to be really sold. I'm about to have knee surgery and he kept telling me that this will do me good when I have my surgery. So that was the feature that sold me on it. When you have surgery, you want to sit down. And even though we have a seat in the shower I still have to get up and down, and this will be a lot safer. I can get in the Safe Step tub better than I could before. We had the garden tub before and this one is easier to get in. Right now I can get in by myself and I don't have to be mindful of myself in and out. I also like the jets.
As we get older, this walk-in tub will be something that we'll need more. So it was a purchase that we are going to be pleased with for years to come. Moreover, the two gentlemen that came to install the tub were friendly and very informative as to what they were going to do. They talked as they were installing, but not throughout because they would have tampered their work level. They told us what they were doing and answered any questions that we had while they were doing it. They were very courteous. They also cleaned up when they were done and they didn't leave a mess.

We’re enjoying our Safe Step Walk-in Tub very much. Their sales reps were very helpful. We discussed the tub when they came and we made a down payment on that same day. Their installation team did a good job. They had to take a door frame loose on one side and they put it back up where you can’t even tell it. It took them a little longer than they expected in widening that door but they did an excellent job. They cleaned up everything and I’m very happy with it. I like the jets for our knees and feet because I’ve gotten neuropathy from sugar diabetes. My fiancée had a total knee replacement and that helps her too. I stay in it for 45 minutes.
When we get in, it relieves our pain in our joints. I use it mostly for shower. I turn the thermostats up on the hot water heater and that helped. I’m a large fella, 6’ 4” and weighs about 275 pounds. It’s been a long time since I’ve been able to take a tub bath. It really cleans pores with the micro jets. I’m very happy with it. It’s very relieving and we're not having any trouble getting in and out of it. However, the seat could be a little lower than what it is, but it works fine. Other than that, I’m very happy with it.

Safe Step went above and beyond. My dad is 93, lives by himself, is very hardheaded, and was against getting a nice step-in shower at first. But luckily, his shower doors broke and we were able to talk him into it. That evening we went online and saw the different features Safe Step had which we liked. Their website gave us a lot of information compared to other websites that don't have quite as much. We sent an email with our information and they contacted us within an hour. They were the first ones to contact us. The second company we contacted took several days to get back to us while the third one never did.
On Memorial Day Safe Step went to my dad's house to give him an estimate and Dan was the sales representative. He was great with my dad because my dad is pretty set in his ways but he did a wonderful job. We think their price was excellent. They gave us a Memorial Day discount and my dad also got a discount for being a World War II veteran so we really appreciated that. They were there within 10 days and had the shower in and it was a wonderful experience. The guys who worked on the installation were wonderful and did a great job. They were friendly, quick, efficient, cleaned up after themselves, and actually took a couple of extra things like the shells my dad had in his tub and put them in the dumpster.
My dad loves Safe Step. He doesn't have to step over the tub anymore and the bar is right there for him to get his arm on to step in. It's only a four-inch step and he feels safer. He doesn't do change real well and any change is very traumatic for him so it took us several days to talk him into even using it but once he used it, he is sold. Before getting the step-in shower he wasn't showering every day because it was such a hassle. He has two artificial knees and has one of those things like a stick-on handle that he has to stick on the side of the tub. He was so paranoid about getting in the shower he didn’t shower every day. Now he does and he's pretty happy.

The Safe Step salesman was very knowledgeable, courteous, and very pleasant. The installation team was lovely. There was a small concern I had about some slipperiness on the floor, and they came the next day and fixed it right up. They did a super job. I'm a shower person and I like to get in and get out, and that's what's nice about the tub.
However, I look at that tub and all I can think of is the absolute, ungodly amount of money I'm paying for it. I'm insane to buy something that costs $13,500. I'm going to have to figure out how to come up with $1,000 every month to pay that sucker off without paying any interest. But the shower feature is wonderful and I love it. And the nice thing about the Safe Step tub is it's gonna keep me on my diet 'cause if I gain any more than 5 pounds, I wouldn't be able to get into it. I'd recommend it to a friend but be sure you do your research and investigate every other tub out there and see if there's anything that would make you happy. This tub is very expensive. It's probably worth every penny but you have to be prepared to pay for it.

It wasn’t as big as we wanted so we went to the next size bigger. The reps were very helpful and answered all my questions. It took them a while because I didn’t know how they were going to do it but they found a way to go in the attic to put it.
I don’t use the tub often because a lot of water goes to waste with it. Otherwise, I'd love to use it every day. However, once I get in it, I have to sit there for half an hour because it feels very good and I don't wanna get out. My favorite feature would be the whirlpool thing which I use for my feet and back. It's very therapeutic and I'm very satisfied with it. Whenever I use it for my feet, they feel better. It also makes me sleep better and longer without waking up to go pee. Even my kids love to use it too. The new one is a little bit smaller than the one we had before. I really liked the first one because it gave us a little bit more room but I also like the new one because it's more modern. My favorite feature is the way that I am turning the main box on. With the old tub, I had to take my finger and push way down on the middle button. For the new one, the main box has everything on it. It's just easy to push and get everything turned on again. That way, it's also easier for the jets to get going. I'd been looking into walk-in tubs for quite some time. A program was opened to the VA, and the salesman who came to our house mentioned that they have a VA department at Safe Step, and there was a good discount. Because of the discount and the VA helping me out, I was able to afford a tub. Safe Step assisted me in getting the VA paperwork taken care of so that was good, and they brought down the price. Although I still ended up paying a little over $3000 with my own pocket money out of the deal, I couldn’t have gotten a tub of that quality for $3000. In that respect, VA did nicely for me and the government chipped in $6800. I'm a 100% disabled vet, so this was good for me.
The Safe Step sales reps were friendly and the installation guys were professional. They made a big effort to put down a cardboard along the tiled floor so that it wouldn't get damaged, however, they didn’t clean up everything when it was over. My wife said they should've taken a picture of our bathroom so that they know what's in there and where it is before they move stuff. And then when it's all over, they could just look at their photos and see where everything goes. Other than that, my wife said they did a fine job compared to some other workers we've had in the house.
My Safe Step tub is a nice adjunct. I had a tub that I was afraid to use as getting in and out tend to be dangerous since I would get out and step on a wet floor. I had one foot in the area and one in the tub, and it worried me a little bit. As far as actual improvements on the tub, there are a couple things. First, it has a couple of buttons that are highly polished that need to be turned. They look good but are very slippery, especially if I have soap on my hands. The buttons have to do with the flow of water, and it sounds easy to turn them, but when in the tub and my hands are wet and with soap, it gets a little bit hard. Also, I have arthritis in one hand and the other hand is a little iffy sometimes, so it would be nice to put a coined edge rather than a nice polished edge. They look good but are not very functional.
Secondly, it would be nice if they'd give a small bag of toiletries to start off with. For that price, it might be nice to put in a $5 worth of real stuff to use. It would make at least the first incident to be more successful. We had to go out and get soap. I used Dawn soap because they said they didn’t want it really oily, so I put some soap in there and what happened was, all of a sudden, suds were shooting out of the two exits of the water. I had to call my wife who then tried her best to get rid of the excess bubbles that were everywhere.
I like the jets, and the water is coming out, but it would be more relaxing on the muscles if some of the jets were a little stronger. They're good and in fact, the one in the back almost shoots one out of the chair when trying it the first time, which is okay. I would like it to be stronger sometimes. When I played sports in high school and college, they had whirlpools, which really develop a current in comparison, and I was hoping it would be a little more like that, but it's a nice gentler type of situation and feels very good.
Additionally, my water heater may be inadequate because when I fill it up, it starts off nice and warm, but by the time I get to the last six inches, I run out of hot water. So from that point on, I'm cooling down the water instead of heating it up. Make sure to have a good water heater and be aware of where the buttons are for the flow. I found them. There's a little chart they give where one can look things over when using it for the first time. And the first time I used it, I used that chart but didn’t notice that it was getting damp. It appears to be layered in complete plastic, but it's not, and the paper underneath the plastic that it's coated with gets wet and starts to wrinkle. The booklet that I got was water-resistant but not completely waterproof.

I've watched them put it in and they tried to explain to me what they were doing. I feel cleaner using the tub. With the mixture that the air gives it, it seems to clean me up better than anyone I've seen before. However I'm very dissatisfied with the door. I thought I could get in and out of a Safe Step Walk-in Tub better than others but I was wrong. I'm in a wheelchair and when I get in, I can step in and go pretty good. But when I come out, I've been doing it backwards and I can't reach the handhold. Had to come in forwards the first time and it just didn't work. Then the night before last, I was getting out of the tub and my leg gave way and I settled into that narrow gap in the door. I'm badly handicapped and I had a terrible time getting up.

It's been a pleasant experience with Safe Step so far. The sales rep was very nice and willing to work with us. He had the information on the other ones. He had sales slips and pricing. We bought what we thought would be the best tub for us. The only drawback is the price. It has been a financial burden but it is what it is. The installation team was very clean, polite, patient and understanding. When dealing with senior citizens, it's not always the easiest but they were wonderful.
My husband is not fond of the tub at all. He has a very serious medical condition where his mobility is extremely limited. In order to use the water jets, we have to fill the tub all the way up and that takes a while between 15 and 20 minutes. And then as he's sitting straight up in the tub, it barely comes to his armpits. So it's not as easy for him to slouch down to get it up higher and he doesn’t feel like the water jets and the micro bubbles really do much. But I think it's because of his progressive degenerative condition.
Had he been able to try the tub first, we probably wouldn't have bought it just because it's harder for him to get slouched down and use it the full way. But for me I love it. Everything’s working fine and there's been no leaks and no issues except there was the little oval on the door that says “Safe Step Walk-in Tub.” At times, it seemed like it was coming loose. I kept pressing that down and feeling it and it's better now.

I couldn't ask for anything better. With my tub, I have fewer aches and pains. I like the bubbles that come through the spa. I have arthritis and it helps to relax my muscles and nerves. It's fantastic. In fact, I got in it yesterday and stayed there for almost an hour because I almost fell asleep. It felt so good but I don't need to stay that long.

I compared all of the walk-in bathtub companies, and I liked the features that Safe Step had on their tub. I like the step-up getting into the tub, nice and low for a pro. My sister likes the microjet. It's also very easy for her to get in and out of the tub. She can take a bath by herself now, which is perfect. The only thing that needs to be improved is that the button for the seat heater should be up front instead of being on the back of the tub.
The sales rep was fantastic. He answered all my questions and was pretty much straight to the point in everything I wanted to know. The installation team was fantastic, too. They were in and out of here in about five hours. One couldn't even tell that they were there since they cleaned up after themselves. I've already recommended Safe Step to a friend.

I got a Safe Step Walk-in tub for my daughter. She has some physical problems and I had a nice tub but it was too hard for her to get in and out of. She had taken a spill before and I wasn’t gonna take a chance on that again. There were three companies that were advertising, but the Safe Step looked like the best bet. Their sales representative was very informative and answered all of my questions. He even gave me information that I really didn’t think to ask. The installation team was super. They were in and out in about six hours and was a really great team. I definitely would recommend Safe Step.

The gentleman from Safe Step I talked to did not pressure me to do anything but other walk-in tub people did. They won't give a ballpark figure what something's gonna cost. They got to come to my house and I objected to that, because nobody could give me an idea. I wasn't asking for a firm price, I was asking for a ballpark price. So, I went with Safe Step. On the installation, the young man and his helper came in on time. They wanted to get done and it was more than one day because of wanting the wall to go all the way to the ceiling around the tub.

I’d recommend Safe Step. I got a sizable discount from them. Their sales rep. answered most of my questions. The installation team was timely and quicker than I expected. I was told installation was up to six weeks but it only took around a week. The tub's micro jets are my favorite. I'm happy with the whole situation and with my Safe Step tub.

I got a better deal from Safe Step compared to other brands. But I'm very dissatisfied with their after-installation help. I called the helpline and they have done nothing.

My husband has diabetes, and it's bothering his legs, so the doctor suggested we get a Jacuzzi or something similar. However, they're hard to get in and out of, so we thought that a walk-in tub would be better. We got a Safe Step Walk-in Tub and it's really nice. The sales guy was wonderful, and was extremely nice, informative, and it was fun visiting with him. He looked in our bathroom and told us how the new tub would fit. The people that came and put the tub in also did a great job. They installed the tub in a day, and also took the old tub. They made the tub fit under a window and it's beautiful. We had to put a little bit more floor down because our old tub was bigger, but the new tub's great with the new floor.
All of the Safe Step tub features are very convenient. I like that it massages the back and shoulders, and the one for the leg is awesome because it hits the right place at the back of the calf. I also wash and rinse my hair with the handheld sprayer, and that makes it very easy. I can slip down into the tub and it's still comfortable, so I no longer need to have a neck pillow. Unlike our old tub, which was so big that I'd slide down into it. Plus, it also took a lot of water to fill it, compared to the Safe Step tub. Everybody in the family that comes over think that the bathroom looks so much better. We love our new tub, and have recommended it to a couple of friends.

My wife has trouble getting into a regular bathtub, so the walk-in tub is ideal for her. The salesman of Safe Step was really good when he initially introduced the tub. He was very professional and thorough, spent over an hour with us giving details. The installers did an excellent job and were very professional, too. They said they’d be here at a certain date and time, and they were here. They worked all day and put it in, and didn’t even take a lunch break. We really like our Safe Step walk-in tub. We just have to probably get a larger hot water heater. Their price was several hundred dollars more, comparable to the other stores. But they gave us a $1,000 discount for if we needed a water heater.

I decided to get a walk-in tub and Safe Step was the first company that I called. When I went out to look at the tub, one of their guys showed it to me and its cost. Their sales reps were all wonderful and they sold me the tub right away. The installer was helpful too. I couldn’t get the lights and things on one time and he came, took apart the front of the tub and showed me what button to mash.
I like everything about the tub. I love to see the lights when they go up and go down and turn different colors. I also like when the water would be massaging my body. I had problems with my other tub, but it's easy to get in and out of the Safe Step walk-in tub. I have arthritis and it’s been doing me some good too. I feel a lot relaxed with this tub because I was in lots of pain and it has eased some of it. When I take a bath in it at night, I sleep better too. The Safe Step walk-in tub all sums up to be wonderful.

My experience with Safe Step was terrible. The sales rep was smooth-talking. He didn’t tell me that they had a couple of sizes and sold a cheaper tub that they wanted to get rid of instead of what I needed. The installation team was good with what they’ve done, but for what they put in, it didn't do me any good. The tub we bought is too little. For someone who's 120 pounds, it may be good but everybody here weighs at least 260 so I’m extremely dissatisfied.
Reviewed June 25, 2016
Safe Step's price seemed pretty good. I bought their walk-in tub for my mother. It was a pretty close run between Safe Step and Premier, who I thought were the best. I know the construction part and said that we'd be better off going to Home Depot and buying from a name brand like Jacuzzi. That way we'll pay less but we'll have to put it in ourselves. However I simply didn't have time for it so I decided to go for Safe Step after all since they had great ratings.
I also called Safe Step about a problem on the lifetime warranty before we even made the deal. I did enough research on them and the ones I've read had people complaining that they get buyers who are 95 years old, on fixed dialysis. Safe Step gets their name on the warranty contract but when the buyer passes away, the kids can't even get the warranty. I told them I almost didn't buy from them because of this reason. They should instead do like Premier which puts a 15-year warranty on the tub instead of trying to paper coat the matter. The installer said he was going to talk to the company and see if they could change it.
They have a typical used car salesman who is nice, talks about a lot of stuff that he doesn't know though leading one to believe that he does. This particular guy made a big deal that Safe Step made sure that the tubs were especially available for veterans. There were a few things that I questioned the salesman about, such as whether they'll be able to get the tub in and whether there would be a problem taking the old tub out. It turned out that it was quite a big problem for the installer. It was a cast iron tub in tile, they had to cut it into pieces with the saw and beat it with a sledgehammer.
Their primary installer was a little upset that the salesman made it look like it wasn't a big deal. Nevertheless, the installers cleaned up pretty well though they did a bit of damage. They left a little cut in the floor in the linoleum and a couple of spots where they damaged the tile a bit which I can understand given what they had to go through. I honestly expected it to be worse. I told the installers, and they agreed, that they ought to tell their company to send a salesman out during the installation so they wouldn't be so cocky. The tub had a flex line that went towards the back jet and one of the upper jets. It looks like the factory didn't put enough glue or none at all, and the line simply blew out of the socket. It must have shorted out the lights that went around it because our surround lights don't work. So, I called Safe Step about for the plumbing work. I would've fixed it myself, but it's under warranty so I don't mess with it.
After waiting about a week, they finally got in touch with us and sent a couple of repairmen. They were supposed to show up last Friday but they called me Friday afternoon to say that they won't be able to make it. They finally showed up on Tuesday. They fiddled around with the tub, told my mother they don't have the right parts, then left without telling her whether they plan to come again the next day. I haven't seen or heard from the repairmen, or even an apology from Safe Step. All they do is do the runaround with me. I called multiple numbers, even the saved numbers that came in from the original installer, but when I called, I ended up getting a machine. I slapped down almost $13,000 on the bathtub. I could've spent less than that with a premium brand like Jacuzzi, put it in myself and I don't think I would have done near the damage Safe Step did. Safe Step's product is probably good but they made a boo-boo at the factory and their service is not good. They also need to really clean up their act and pay attention as to who they hire.

The price was good and Safe Step had a special offer when I bought mine. The sales rep was very nice and he kept his words. However, I’m a little disappointed because I didn’t think I was getting enough of the oxygen bubbles out. He told me when I need any information or anything, I should call this certain number, which I did. But when he called me back, he said he is in Utah on vacation. I did want some information on how I get the bubbles to come out more, that was the reason that I bought it. He said he’s gonna have some paperwork for me where I can buy the cleaning stuff. I wasn’t aware that it takes once-a-month cleaning. He did not say that. I wanted him to stop by once more and tell me where he got the crystals they put in the water to make the water soft and all those good stuff.
The people that put the tub in was very nice. They did a very good job. I told him to write down on the paperwork that I’m waiting on the instruction book because there’s a bunch of buttons there that I didn’t know. I’m not very handy with this kind of stuff so they said, “We’ll make a note of it and send it back.” I called their office and they said that they were sending one here. This one lady said, “Well, I sent it out.” I said, "I received nothing" So she said I should get another book that contains the information on what to do and which button goes with what. And of course, I wanted to get the information book and warranty booklet on it. I finally got that a couple of days ago.
The other guys that put it in didn’t give me the 101. I guess they don’t really know. They said, “Go to Bed & Bath and they have this and this.” I went there though I’m a handicapped person and I can’t walk really well. They had nothing for me to use in that spa. They said, “Well try A Hot Tub Place.” Thank goodness I knew the one not too far from them, so I stopped on the way out there. There were two nice ladies and they sold me some crystals. I read the stuff and tried it, and it worked good. And then when I talked to the sales rep, he said, “Well, go try it because I couldn’t get anything else.” And I said, “Well, I did.” You just take like a teaspoon flattened and you don’t take a lot. I figured that when people get in there, it’s not always clean. So when it’s ready, it has to be cleaned out. I tried cleaning it with towels and wipe it and all. It says, “Once a month, put in a cup of bleach and then fill it back up with water.” That’s 40 gallons of water. I would have to have my own well here.
I read through this and yesterday, I went down to the spa place again to see if they had anything easier. We had one in our old house, too. But we never had to run all that 2500 gallon of water to clean it because I only used it once and I was allergic to the ‘PF’ or whatever that you have to put in there. My husband did it. My daughter has MS and she was interested in getting one, too. I only been in it a few times, and it takes a lot of water. And it didn’t do the bubbles for me, which I expected. I do have fibromyalgia and problems on my foot, and I really could have used that.

I checked walk-in tubs and I looked at Home Depot. I checked everything from prices to what I needed to get it installed. The Safe Step Walk-in Tubs' rep was wonderful and their installers were great people. They came earlier that the set time, and since they didn't take down the wall, they were in and out in three hours. I can get in the walk-in tub and fill it up. I don’t have to worry about getting down and trying to get out of the thing. The walk-in tub's really mostly for my mom because she tried to get in our tub over a year ago and she couldn’t get out. She hasn’t taken a bath in a tub since then. And although we had a shower chair in the shower for her, she can soak in a walk-in tub and this helps in her mobility - for the feet, for the back of the legs, the lower part of the extremities and also for the lower back.
I like it as well. With the Safe Step walk-in tub, I can stoop my off the seat a little bit so I can really put my shoulder to where the jets are beating which helps. I was a nurse so I knew how good this walk-in tub would be. My mother can move a little bit better, so she loves it. So far, everything’s cool. The walk-in tub is also good for all ages. I contacted Safe Step for information and got a salesperson sent out. I am not somebody who likes a lot of unofficial sales patter. The sales rep was trying to convince my mom that in her current bathtub shower setup, she would fall through the plushy glass and so on. If I were buying it, just the annoyance factor alone would have made me said no. But my mom was more concerned about getting somebody to install the tub quickly. It was a little outside of the price range that she was looking for but the installation was the major deciding factor.
The installation team finished in one day. They did a good job and cleaned up after themselves. It's easy to get in and out of the tub. The way the door is set up gives it strength and stability but it also makes it difficult to clean the tub because when the door opens inward, you're blocking yourself from cleaning a part of the tub. So you have to get in it and then shut the door. But then once you do that, you’re standing in such a way where it’s not easy to get down to the very bottom of the tub to clean it. That part never really occurred to me when she was buying it. Other than that, I have used the tub too and it’s helped some issues with my legs and feet.

I liked what he told me when he came out here and everybody else I talked to wouldn't give me no satisfactory answer. The installation team were good too. They made a big mess and a lot of noise but I know they had to. They cleaned up some of the mess but when they're cutting the tub out they had to do whatever they had to do to get them out. There were chalky stuff all over the bathroom and I had to get somebody come in and wash down the paneling.
I've had a hard time figuring out how to use the bathtub and got my friend to show me how to switch the water over from the tub to the shower. Other than that, I'm happy with Safe Step.
