The Safe Step sales person was great at first but then it was hard to get a hold of him afterwards. We didn't find him too open and ready to help on our particular questions. There were some things we don't like about the tub. I'm six-foot and I have to really squeeze my feet around to get around the door. I didn't like that the door swings in as well. The tub was also supposed to come with a sliding shower attachment but it didn't, so I had to order an extra one. It was also annoying at first that the shower hose sticks but that finally stopped. Most of the time my wife just takes a shower in the tub, not a bath.

When I was in a Jacuzzi tub, I could feel the pressure of the water coming from the jets. With the Safe Step tub however, I couldn't feel this pressure somehow. I also didn't feel the bubbles. My wife says she feels them but I don't. Maybe I'm too tough, but the tub didn't give me the satisfaction I was hoping it would. The installation team did a good job though. They installed it all in one day and it wasn't any disruption.

We liked what the Safe Step salesman said and decided to take it as soon as he started telling us about it. He explained everything in detail. The installers showed us how to use the product and they cleaned up real good afterwards. We were really pleased with them. I like the way the tub blows out on the side, on the ankles and back and the bubbles. It cleans me off real good and is really soothing and comfortable. I have arthritis and it makes my legs feel better when I’m in it and when I get out. We all like it very much. It’s a really good walk-in tub.

I’m satisfied with Safe Step. I fall a lot so I wasn’t able to go in my old bathtub for about a year and I don’t like showers. With my Safe Step tub, I enjoy sitting in the water and wash up. I like the tub and I had no problems with their team. They were friendly and on time.

My wife was having trouble getting in and out of the bathtub, and she hates showers, so we got a Safe Step walk-in tub. Here we are a month later, and my wife has used it several times. I’m not a bath person, I’m a shower person, but she’s trying to get me to get in it. We’ve been quite happy with the product. My wife is still trying to figure out all the gadgetry and I help her get it filled up and things started and go through the procedure, but she can handle it by herself right now because it’s simplified. She just has to remember what steps to go through. We had the laminated thing that shows what steps to go through that the installers gave us. It’s a prompt up at the end of the tub and she can reference that. It’s been a delightful addition to our household.

My wife loves it. She likes the microbubbles, but mostly, sitting in with the jets blowing. We just got into our 70s so we develop different aches and pains every day. I’m not sure if it's fewer or not after the tub was installed, but my wife likes the jets beating up on her since it relaxes her. In addition, my grandchildren love the different lights. I had to show them all the different colored lights.

The sales rep and the installation people were exceptional. They took the time and the effort to run through the whole thing. I’m a retired engineer so I’d like all the steps to be right, and they took care of all that. The sales rep left a number and gave us the name of the installation people that were coming and she had given us a good briefing on what to expect, and everything turned out perfectly. The installation team walked me through exactly what they were going to do. They said there was going to be a little bit of noise when taking the old one out. My wife at that time was a little bit incapacitated but we were pre-warned on everything, so it went very smoothly. In fact, it was amazing that they said they’d be here at 8:00 and take four hours. They got here a minute before 8:00, and were gone three minutes before 12:00. That’s precision.

We’ve already recommended it to several people and bragged about it a little bit. The price tag is a little stiff for a bathtub. It’s like going out and buying a car. That’s the only real drawback. In fact, it took us a little bit of thought process. The representative kept working with us, suggesting different things, options, and the benefits. We finally conceded that we were going to buy it. Our overall experience has been fine. Everything has gone smoothly. However, I’ve never seen any bill. In the beginning, I am going to pay $450 a month for 18 months. And now, I don’t know who to pay, and nobody has ever sent me a bill or an email.

I’m having a problem with my age and I’ve got a bad back. I have to hold on, and that’s the reason I bought the Safe Step walk-in bathtub. I liked the looks of it on TV and I like it better in my bathroom because it feels good. The installation team made a little dust but we got that cleaned up. We’re enjoying the bathtub but we need a splash shield on the right wall where there’s a wallpaper in there. Other than that, we love it and it’s working for us.

I bought the Safe Step tub for my brother who's an amputee. I was at Lowe's and asked about the tub. I initially thought I could buy it and put it in. But even the stuff from Lowe's was expensive, so I thought that we might as well make Safe Step do it all themselves. So the rep showed us a video and explained everything that we were getting. I was impressed how informative their people were and how knowledgeable the guy putting it in was because it was really easy for him to hook it up. We were watching on the installation and we have irritated him, but he just took it to one side like he was used to people.

My brother loves the tub. His foot has an ulcer on it due to diabetes, so I was concerned if he's gonna lose more, so I explained to him what the microbubbles are supposed to do. When he started using the microbubbles, the bottom of his foot is no longer bleeding as badly as it was. Prior to having it, he was telling me that he'd ask the doctor to kill him because he didn't wanna live like that. So lately, he has not said that and hopefully, he realized there's more to life.

I saw a Safe Step ad in the Sunday papers and when I went out on the internet and looked at it, it had everything that I needed. I didn’t bother to look for anything else. The sales rep was incredible and very sensitive to our physical needs. I’m going through a lot of physical stuff including cancer treatment and have a lot of trouble walking and getting around, while my wife just had a knee replacement. He also got that tub in here quicker than he’s ever done. The financing was done almost overnight.

Within the next week, the installation was done. I was also very impressed at how sensitive the installers were. They had to do some drilling and before they started, the guy came out into the hallway and my living room and started taking pictures off the wall. He said, “I don’t want to vibrate these down and wreck them.” Later on when they were done, it was ready to use. We didn’t have to clean up and they showed us how to use it.

My wife can’t use the tub yet because her knees haven’t healed, but it’s been great for me. I feel like I’m getting stronger every day. When I came back to the US, I was in an ambulance, in a wheelchair, and now I can go to the store and walk around. One has got to deliberately set time aside to take advantage of the tub. It would be a waste of time to rush in there and take a five-minute shower and rush out. Overall, Safe Step was very professional on how they related to the customer and their product is what it says it is.

I wanted a tub and I got one from Safe Step Walk-in Tubs. Before, I couldn't get in and out of the tub by myself, but with Safe Step I can take a bath now without any assistance and that's a big thing, along with the fact that I get the jet massaging when I'm in the tub. So, the tub is dual purpose. The installation team did a fine job. But they told me they were going to send me a shower curtain as soon as they got back to their office. They said it will be mailed to me, but I have not received it. I've only used my tub two or three times, but I've thoroughly enjoyed it. I love the lights and the jets.

He was very knowledgeable about the other brands and what they included, and what their company included. I was very impressed. I didn’t know a lot about it, but I knew that I needed to make a change because I was having trouble with the bathtub having to step over it and then get up to get out of it. As you get older, you need something that you feel safe in. It’s much easier to feel safe in something that you can sit elevated in and be able to walk out of and not be afraid of falling. I feel much safer since having my Safe Step tub. I love it and I wish I had done it earlier.

I bought a Safe Step walk-in tub because its price was about $1,000 less. The sales representatives were very exact and showed me how to operate the tub. I did have a problem with the tub over the weekend, and the representative came yesterday to fix it. He went over the details of the tub with me again, which was very helpful. He did a great job cleaning up after himself and was very friendly. The installation team was very courteous and also did a great job cleaning up after themselves.

The main reason that I got the tub was for safety. I also love the jets beating on my back. When I walk for a long period of time, I would have pains on my back. That's when I get in my tub and the jets relieve the pain. I have to draw my stomach in when I close the door, which is a difficulty. It would be great if there's a little bit more room to sit down. Nevertheless, the whole experience with Safe Step has been great.

I hadn't had a bath for four years. I had to take showers because of my legs. I couldn't get in my tub, so I couldn't sit down and I couldn't get out. I had fallen trying to get out of it. I was trying to get on my knees but I couldn't. It was just a catastrophe. A friend gave me a bench she put in the shower but I didn't like it either. So when I saw the ad about Safe Step in some paper and I just called them. I'm 84 years old, and I make up my mind just right there. I didn't check on the other prices somewhere else because the person I talked to convinced me that this is the best tub. The salesperson and the installation guys were very nice and great. The installation team even took the old tub to have room for the new one. They put that in for me, which was great.

With the Safe Step tub, I can sit down and take a bath. However, the side panel is not tight and it was left like that. It's very loose on top and it won't push back in. I didn't know it until I saw a crack in it. It pushes right in. I haven't contacted customer service yet because it's not hurting anything as long as it doesn't fall off and I hate to have a guy come out just to fix it. Also, I don't like the way the shower is because I spray the floor. I didn't realize that you couldn't just turn the shower on and it's gonna spray out like that. So I had to make sure I got the nozzle out of the thing when I turn it on. It happens because of the way it's facing the opposite direction than if it was facing the other way. It also took me a while to figure out that I got to sit in and wait for the water to run in. But it doesn’t take that long. After I got used to getting in it and then running the water, I'm fine.

We had one of those great big tubs which we wanted to get rid of because neither my husband nor I could get in it. I have a chair at the moment in our shower where one can sit but we thought as we get older, we will probably need a walk-in tub so we got one from Safe Step. I haven't used it yet because I like the shower but sometimes I thought at night, if my muscles are hurting or I've been working, maybe I'll climb in and use it. Everybody from Safe Step was very good. We wanted it, got it and we're happy with it.

I was surprised that we had not heard from the salesman after we made the purchase and the installation. No one came out to look to see if it was installed properly or how it was looking. I had reported that I received a step in tub that was too small in width - but Safe Step installers promptly replaced it with a reasonable size one. And has responded to all our requests. My mom age 98 is now enjoying taking a bath as well as my husband and I. I would highly recommend safe step walk-in tub to others.

    Original Review: July 20, 2016

On July 7, 2016 the installers came and tore out my seated shower and installed a Safe Step Walk-in Tub. When installed we were told not to use it for 3 days. When I attempted to bathe for the first time, I sat down to close the door and found that I was unable because my legs were in the way. We only have one bathroom and no other tub so my being 76 years old with disabilities had to step up with one leg on the high seat and squeeze back and call my husband to come into the bathroom to close the door to the tub.

It is not enough room to hardly move your arms outward to bathe yourself. Even my 98 year old mother who is smaller than myself and my husband had trouble lifting her legs and arms to bathe because the width of the space in the tub is too tight. My husband has the same complaint. We are very very disappointed and want to return the tub. We were not measured just asked what our weight was and did not know that it would not fit us comfortably when installed because we were told not to use it for 3 days. We are requesting that you please come and get your tub and refund us our money back for the purchase price we paid. And, no one has called us other than the lady who sold it to us and she has no power to resolve this matter. I have called again at 1-800-989-5101 and was referred to the Sales Manager Chris **. I left a message and am awaiting a return call.

My wife wanted a walk-in tub so I started doing research online. Safe Step was better-priced though what they were offering was equivalent to two other tub manufacturers. Their sales reps were very knowledgeable, professional and friendly. They laid out everything clearly as to what was gonna happen, what the process would be, what the features of the tub were, and why certain features were better than other feature tubs. The installation went smoothly. The team knew what they were doing, they handled everything professionally and looked very well. It only took them five hours to install and that worked for me. The dual jets and microbubbles are my favorite.

The salesman that came out gave us an awesome demonstration. He had the tub that we could look at. Not a picture of it, but an actual tub on a trailer. We had the Safe Step salesman come to our house to tell us about their tub and he was absolutely great. Compared to what Lowe's is offering, Safe Step is a few steps above. When the old tub was taken out, a lot of rotted wooden stuff was found and we had to call a contractor in to fix that. The installation team had to stand down but after all the repairs were done, they came on right back and went on. It’s been about a month since they installed the tub and everything was good except for one thing. The tub was supposed to have come with a pole to attach the shower on to but it didn’t have that. They promised to come back and install it and I've called once a week ago but nobody has come yet so I'm still hoping they come. My wife likes the heated seat and I like being able to walk into the tub and I'm gonna have a knee replacement in a couple of days so I can walk in to the tub without stepping over the big lift.

We have a Safe Step walk-in tub that we got four years ago. We subsequently got a shower from them since it was cheaper than their competitors. I was happy with my tub when it came. I got it for my wife because she has a back problem and can’t step high. I now have a bad back, and I like to shower, and this worked out great. With my Safe Step walk-in shower, I like that I only have to step up two inches and it has plenty of grab bars. I feel safer because I can grab hold of something. The house was built in 1993, and my other shower that came with the house did not have grab bars.

The installation people were super. I kept asking them questions and they answered most of them, but when we got down to the end and the shower curtain, they had to call the home office because they did not have a copy of the contract. Evidently, there’s a communication problem between the people who sold the product and the people that put it in. The original contract was transposed onto another sheet of paper, and they left out the shower package, so when the guys got the contract to install the shower, their paperwork showed no shower curtain. My paperwork showed the shower curtain.

When they called the home office, they said that they would send me one in the mail which they did, except it was the wrong size. They sent me a shower curtain that goes with the walk-in tub, so two feet off the bottom has no shower curtain. I then went to Walmart and bought a shower curtain, hung it up and we moved on from there. It's not a big deal. Everything is functioning as it should and I’m pleased with it.

I called Safe Step to get a price and they sent a salesman out. The sales rep was very knowledgeable about telling me how the tub was made and what materials it was made of. The installation team was very good. The only problem that I had with them was one of the guys poked a hole in a chair that I had in the bedroom. I called customer service right after the installation and the installer called me. I told him about the chair but he said he had a high deductible on his insurance so I have not pursued that with him but with the amount that I paid for the tub the chair should be covered with a re-cover. But other than that, the tub is great and I'm enjoying it.

I like the tub's heated seat, the lighting in it, and the jets. Since installing it I feel safer and it's helping my arthritis. I'm now using it instead of going to the wharf for water therapy. It's a great way to spend a little extra money if people have it. The tub is expensive but it's a very good thing for people to have the things that they're looking for in something therapeutic.

I've checked other companies and Safe Step’s been around longer and had the best record when I've checked with the BBB. I was at a point where I was interested in either their tub or shower conversions. We were looking at the tub but the more I looked at it, I thought I'm not a big tub person and wanted the shower more. I talked with a gentleman named Jim and he told me that maybe what I wanted was a shower conversion with a seat in it. Jim worked well with me and was honest in saying I'd be happier with the shower conversion even though it was half the money, which meant half his commission. He could’ve kept telling me how he could fix the Safe Step tub because they could’ve put a handheld shower, but I'm not going to be able to stand up in it and shower. I'm sure he really lost money on the sale as far as his commission.

My old, cast iron tub had the original faucets, which leaked all over the place, and I was petrified the whole time that Safe Step was going to be tearing it down that I'd end up with water damage and it would cost me more money. But there was nothing – no mold, no water damage, no nothing. I used to have panic attacks when I had to take a shower and I've gotten to where I only would take one a week because I was so horrified of getting in or out of the tub and I might fall, which I had before, because I've got problems with my hips and stuff.

I like everything about the work done. I enjoy my shower and I look forward to getting into it. Everything's pristine, pretty and easy to use. The installers put in a nice adjustable showerhead and an adjustment slide. They also had me come in when they were placing the safety rails to tell them where I wanted them placed for them to be useful to me. I also had a seat that was separate that they had to install and they did it to my height. I enjoy it and will enjoy it for the rest of my life. Overall, I was very pleased with the workmanship, professionalism and the quality of the materials that I've got. Everything about Safe Step was excellent. They did a great job and it was a very professional work.

The only issue was that they wanted me to sign the paper that would release the money from the finance company to pay the contractor that did the job ahead of time saying that I was happy with what I've got. They said they won't send it through and it would be dated when we're done. It's just that they deal with a lot of elderly people who sometimes won't sign anything after everything's done. I told them I won't sign it until I get what I get and I'm happy with it. But the finance company still wouldn't have released the money even though they got the paper because they called me after I signed the paper after the work was done to make sure I was happy before they released the money and that I didn't have any problems or need Safe Step to come back for anything.

He’s had a stroke and his shoulder is messed up and we had to go in there and take all that carpet out and cut it around and put a rug down. We took off $1,000 of the payment, but it was worth a whole lot more than that because we had a lot of work. Another thing is when the door is accidentally hit by a knee, it can come open and water will shoot out the door. It happened to my husband. The person who came out went downstairs, looked at my hot water heater and said it won't run out of hot water. Well it does before I can get it filled up. They also didn't tell me a thing about how long you sit there waiting for it to get filled up.

All it does is the jet, but I have to wait a long time for it to get filled up above the jets, behind my back. I asked them to come out and show me how to do a certain thing and the rep was nice about that. But the man who sold it never even contacted me back. Also, when I get in the tub and close the door, it's a bit hard to get out. They didn't put the end of it down where they were supposed to. I should have checked one out before I bought it. They did let me call a person or two. The person said they like it and she did tell me it took a little while to fill it up. I wish I could get my money back but it doesn't make any sense now. By the time they put my bath tub back in there, there's no telling how much they'd charge me. I wouldn't recommend them.

My husband liked Safe Step's presentation and when he called, the guy answered the questions that he had about it. I'm a shower person and my husband is interested in being able to take a bath in the tub. So I was the one that had to be really sold. I'm about to have knee surgery and he kept telling me that this will do me good when I have my surgery. So that was the feature that sold me on it. When you have surgery, you want to sit down. And even though we have a seat in the shower I still have to get up and down, and this will be a lot safer. I can get in the Safe Step tub better than I could before. We had the garden tub before and this one is easier to get in. Right now I can get in by myself and I don't have to be mindful of myself in and out. I also like the jets.

As we get older, this walk-in tub will be something that we'll need more. So it was a purchase that we are going to be pleased with for years to come. Moreover, the two gentlemen that came to install the tub were friendly and very informative as to what they were going to do. They talked as they were installing, but not throughout because they would have tampered their work level. They told us what they were doing and answered any questions that we had while they were doing it. They were very courteous. They also cleaned up when they were done and they didn't leave a mess.

Safe Step went above and beyond. My dad is 93, lives by himself, is very hardheaded, and was against getting a nice step-in shower at first. But luckily, his shower doors broke and we were able to talk him into it. That evening we went online and saw the different features Safe Step had which we liked. Their website gave us a lot of information compared to other websites that don't have quite as much. We sent an email with our information and they contacted us within an hour. They were the first ones to contact us. The second company we contacted took several days to get back to us while the third one never did.

On Memorial Day Safe Step went to my dad's house to give him an estimate and Dan was the sales representative. He was great with my dad because my dad is pretty set in his ways but he did a wonderful job. We think their price was excellent. They gave us a Memorial Day discount and my dad also got a discount for being a World War II veteran so we really appreciated that. They were there within 10 days and had the shower in and it was a wonderful experience. The guys who worked on the installation were wonderful and did a great job. They were friendly, quick, efficient, cleaned up after themselves, and actually took a couple of extra things like the shells my dad had in his tub and put them in the dumpster.

My dad loves Safe Step. He doesn't have to step over the tub anymore and the bar is right there for him to get his arm on to step in. It's only a four-inch step and he feels safer. He doesn't do change real well and any change is very traumatic for him so it took us several days to talk him into even using it but once he used it, he is sold. Before getting the step-in shower he wasn't showering every day because it was such a hassle. He has two artificial knees and has one of those things like a stick-on handle that he has to stick on the side of the tub. He was so paranoid about getting in the shower he didn’t shower every day. Now he does and he's pretty happy.

We’re enjoying our Safe Step Walk-in Tub very much. Their sales reps were very helpful. We discussed the tub when they came and we made a down payment on that same day. Their installation team did a good job. They had to take a door frame loose on one side and they put it back up where you can’t even tell it. It took them a little longer than they expected in widening that door but they did an excellent job. They cleaned up everything and I’m very happy with it. I like the jets for our knees and feet because I’ve gotten neuropathy from sugar diabetes. My fiancée had a total knee replacement and that helps her too. I stay in it for 45 minutes.

When we get in, it relieves our pain in our joints. I use it mostly for shower. I turn the thermostats up on the hot water heater and that helped. I’m a large fella, 6’ 4” and weighs about 275 pounds. It’s been a long time since I’ve been able to take a tub bath. It really cleans pores with the micro jets. I’m very happy with it. It’s very relieving and we're not having any trouble getting in and out of it. However, the seat could be a little lower than what it is, but it works fine. Other than that, I’m very happy with it.

The Safe Step salesman was very knowledgeable, courteous, and very pleasant. The installation team was lovely. There was a small concern I had about some slipperiness on the floor, and they came the next day and fixed it right up. They did a super job. I'm a shower person and I like to get in and get out, and that's what's nice about the tub.

However, I look at that tub and all I can think of is the absolute, ungodly amount of money I'm paying for it. I'm insane to buy something that costs $13,500. I'm going to have to figure out how to come up with $1,000 every month to pay that sucker off without paying any interest. But the shower feature is wonderful and I love it. And the nice thing about the Safe Step tub is it's gonna keep me on my diet 'cause if I gain any more than 5 pounds, I wouldn't be able to get into it. I'd recommend it to a friend but be sure you do your research and investigate every other tub out there and see if there's anything that would make you happy. This tub is very expensive. It's probably worth every penny but you have to be prepared to pay for it.

It wasn’t as big as we wanted so we went to the next size bigger. The reps were very helpful and answered all my questions. I told them upfront that I didn’t want them to pressure me into buying something and so they didn’t. They gave me plenty of time to think about what I needed.

There was no other competitor close to them so I said, “I might as well get it.” They were very good. They got down and put the electrical connection for me. It took them a while because I didn’t know how they were going to do it but they found a way to go in the attic to put it.

I don’t use the tub often because a lot of water goes to waste with it. Otherwise, I'd love to use it every day. However, once I get in it, I have to sit there for half an hour because it feels very good and I don't wanna get out. My favorite feature would be the whirlpool thing which I use for my feet and back. It's very therapeutic and I'm very satisfied with it. Whenever I use it for my feet, they feel better. It also makes me sleep better and longer without waking up to go pee. Even my kids love to use it too. So now, I have a whole new bathroom completely and had to put everything new up to date because of that tub. It's a big investment but it's amazing. It's very therapeutic and I'm very satisfied with it.

With Safe Step, I can use the regular shower and there's no trouble getting in and out of it. The sales reps seemed to know what they were talking about. Also, the installers cleaned up. We had a regular bath tub that they had to take out. They busted one corner of it off carrying down the steps outside but they hauled it off. We haven't gotten to use our Safe Step as much as we plan to use it. My husband's got some bad places on his legs and he's got to keep out of water but they're beginning to heal so maybe we'll get a lot more use out of it. The only thing that I don't like about it is that it takes longer to take a shower. You got to get in before it fills and you got to wait till it empties to get out. But it sure is nice when you are in it.

We found an ad in the paper, called the number, and explained to them that we had had one before and we were interested in getting a new one. The sales rep who came out gave the presentation, and it was fully understandable. We liked what he was saying, and he pointed out all the new features that were on it.

The new one is a little bit smaller than the one we had before. I really liked the first one because it gave us a little bit more room but I also like the new one because it's more modern. My favorite feature is the way that I am turning the main box on. With the old tub, I had to take my finger and push way down on the middle button. For the new one, the main box has everything on it. It's just easy to push and get everything turned on again. That way, it's also easier for the jets to get going. Similar with our older tub, I'll get in there with aches, get the jets going on, and it feels a lot better. It's good all the way around. It's great, fantastic, and very enjoyable.

I'd been looking into walk-in tubs for quite some time. A program was opened to the VA, and the salesman who came to our house mentioned that they have a VA department at Safe Step, and there was a good discount. Because of the discount and the VA helping me out, I was able to afford a tub. Safe Step assisted me in getting the VA paperwork taken care of so that was good, and they brought down the price. Although I still ended up paying a little over $3000 with my own pocket money out of the deal, I couldn’t have gotten a tub of that quality for $3000. In that respect, VA did nicely for me and the government chipped in $6800. I'm a 100% disabled vet, so this was good for me.

The Safe Step sales reps were friendly and the installation guys were professional. They made a big effort to put down a cardboard along the tiled floor so that it wouldn't get damaged, however, they didn’t clean up everything when it was over. My wife said they should've taken a picture of our bathroom so that they know what's in there and where it is before they move stuff. And then when it's all over, they could just look at their photos and see where everything goes. Other than that, my wife said they did a fine job compared to some other workers we've had in the house.

My Safe Step tub is a nice adjunct. I had a tub that I was afraid to use as getting in and out tend to be dangerous since I would get out and step on a wet floor. I had one foot in the area and one in the tub, and it worried me a little bit. As far as actual improvements on the tub, there are a couple things. First, it has a couple of buttons that are highly polished that need to be turned. They look good but are very slippery, especially if I have soap on my hands. The buttons have to do with the flow of water, and it sounds easy to turn them, but when in the tub and my hands are wet and with soap, it gets a little bit hard. Also, I have arthritis in one hand and the other hand is a little iffy sometimes, so it would be nice to put a coined edge rather than a nice polished edge. They look good but are not very functional.

Secondly, it would be nice if they'd give a small bag of toiletries to start off with. For that price, it might be nice to put in a $5 worth of real stuff to use. It would make at least the first incident to be more successful. We had to go out and get soap. I used Dawn soap because they said they didn’t want it really oily, so I put some soap in there and what happened was, all of a sudden, suds were shooting out of the two exits of the water. I had to call my wife who then tried her best to get rid of the excess bubbles that were everywhere.

I like the jets, and the water is coming out, but it would be more relaxing on the muscles if some of the jets were a little stronger. They're good and in fact, the one in the back almost shoots one out of the chair when trying it the first time, which is okay. I would like it to be stronger sometimes. When I played sports in high school and college, they had whirlpools, which really develop a current in comparison, and I was hoping it would be a little more like that, but it's a nice gentler type of situation and feels very good.

Additionally, my water heater may be inadequate because when I fill it up, it starts off nice and warm, but by the time I get to the last six inches, I run out of hot water. So from that point on, I'm cooling down the water instead of heating it up. Make sure to have a good water heater and be aware of where the buttons are for the flow. I found them. There's a little chart they give where one can look things over when using it for the first time. And the first time I used it, I used that chart but didn’t notice that it was getting damp. It appears to be layered in complete plastic, but it's not, and the paper underneath the plastic that it's coated with gets wet and starts to wrinkle. The booklet that I got was water-resistant but not completely waterproof.

I've watched them put it in and they tried to explain to me what they were doing. I feel cleaner using the tub. With the mixture that the air gives it, it seems to clean me up better than anyone I've seen before. However I'm very dissatisfied with the door. I thought I could get in and out of a Safe Step Walk-in Tub better than others but I was wrong. I'm in a wheelchair and when I get in, I can step in and go pretty good. But when I come out, I've been doing it backwards and I can't reach the handhold. Had to come in forwards the first time and it just didn't work. Then the night before last, I was getting out of the tub and my leg gave way and I settled into that narrow gap in the door. I'm badly handicapped and I had a terrible time getting up.

This is the first tub that they installed in this tri-state area. We're about 15 miles or less from Michigan and the same from Indiana and we're in Ohio. They worked the whole time from 9:00 in the morning until a little after 5:00 and they did a beautiful job on it. It's been a pleasant experience with Safe Step so far. The sales rep was very nice and willing to work with us. He had the information on the other ones. He had sales slips and pricing. We bought what we thought would be the best tub for us. The only drawback is the price. It has been a financial burden but it is what it is. The installation team was very clean, polite, patient and understanding. When dealing with senior citizens, it's not always the easiest but they were wonderful.

My husband is not fond of the tub at all. He has a very serious medical condition where his mobility is extremely limited. In order to use the water jets, we have to fill the tub all the way up and that takes a while between 15 and 20 minutes. And then as he's sitting straight up in the tub, it barely comes to his armpits. So it's not as easy for him to slouch down to get it up higher and he doesn’t feel like the water jets and the micro bubbles really do much. But I think it's because of his progressive degenerative condition.

Had he been able to try the tub first, we probably wouldn't have bought it just because it's harder for him to get slouched down and use it the full way. But for me I love it. Everything’s working fine and there's been no leaks and no issues except there was the little oval on the door that says “Safe Step Walk-in Tub.” At times, it seemed like it was coming loose. I kept pressing that down and feeling it and it's better now.

Unlike our old tub, which was so big that I'd slide down into it. Plus, it also took a lot of water to fill it, compared to the Safe Step tub. Everybody in the family that comes over think that the bathroom looks so much better. We love our new tub, and have recommended it to a couple of friends.

My wife has trouble getting into a regular bathtub, so the walk-in tub is ideal for her. The salesman of Safe Step was really good when he initially introduced the tub. He was very professional and thorough, spent over an hour with us giving details. The installers did an excellent job and were very professional, too. They said they’d be here at a certain date and time, and they were here. They worked all day and put it in, and didn’t even take a lunch break. We really like our Safe Step walk-in tub. We just have to probably get a larger hot water heater. Their price was several hundred dollars more, comparable to the other stores. But they gave us a $1,000 discount for if we needed a water heater.

I decided to get a walk-in tub and Safe Step was the first company that I called. When I went out to look at the tub, one of their guys showed it to me and its cost. Their sales reps were all wonderful and they sold me the tub right away. The installer was helpful too. I couldn’t get the lights and things on one time and he came, took apart the front of the tub and showed me what button to mash.

I like everything about the tub. I love to see the lights when they go up and go down and turn different colors. I also like when the water would be massaging my body. I had problems with my other tub, but it's easy to get in and out of the Safe Step walk-in tub. I have arthritis and it’s been doing me some good too. I feel a lot relaxed with this tub because I was in lots of pain and it has eased some of it. When I take a bath in it at night, I sleep better too. The Safe Step walk-in tub all sums up to be wonderful.

He didn’t tell me that they had a couple of sizes and sold a cheaper tub that they wanted to get rid of instead of what I needed. The installation team was good with what they’ve done, but for what they put in, it didn't do me any good. The tub we bought is too little. For someone who's 120 pounds, it may be good but everybody here weighs at least 260 so I’m extremely dissatisfied.

    Reviewed June 25, 2016

Safe Step's price seemed pretty good. I bought their walk-in tub for my mother. It was a pretty close run between Safe Step and Premier, who I thought were the best. I know the construction part and said that we'd be better off going to Home Depot and buying from a name brand like Jacuzzi. That way we'll pay less but we'll have to put it in ourselves. However I simply didn't have time for it so I decided to go for Safe Step after all since they had great ratings.

I also called Safe Step about a problem on the lifetime warranty before we even made the deal. I did enough research on them and the ones I've read had people complaining that they get buyers who are 95 years old, on fixed dialysis. Safe Step gets their name on the warranty contract but when the buyer passes away, the kids can't even get the warranty. I told them I almost didn't buy from them because of this reason. They should instead do like Premier which puts a 15-year warranty on the tub instead of trying to paper coat the matter. The installer said he was going to talk to the company and see if they could change it.

They have a typical used car salesman who is nice, talks about a lot of stuff that he doesn't know though leading one to believe that he does. This particular guy made a big deal that Safe Step made sure that the tubs were especially available for veterans. There were a few things that I questioned the salesman about, such as whether they'll be able to get the tub in and whether there would be a problem taking the old tub out. It turned out that it was quite a big problem for the installer. It was a cast iron tub in tile, they had to cut it into pieces with the saw and beat it with a sledgehammer.

Their primary installer was a little upset that the salesman made it look like it wasn't a big deal. Nevertheless, the installers cleaned up pretty well though they did a bit of damage. They left a little cut in the floor in the linoleum and a couple of spots where they damaged the tile a bit which I can understand given what they had to go through. I honestly expected it to be worse. I told the installers, and they agreed, that they ought to tell their company to send a salesman out during the installation so they wouldn't be so cocky. The tub had a flex line that went towards the back jet and one of the upper jets. It looks like the factory didn't put enough glue or none at all, and the line simply blew out of the socket. It must have shorted out the lights that went around it because our surround lights don't work. So, I called Safe Step about for the plumbing work. I would've fixed it myself, but it's under warranty so I don't mess with it.

After waiting about a week, they finally got in touch with us and sent a couple of repairmen. They were supposed to show up last Friday but they called me Friday afternoon to say that they won't be able to make it. They finally showed up on Tuesday. They fiddled around with the tub, told my mother they don't have the right parts, then left without telling her whether they plan to come again the next day. I haven't seen or heard from the repairmen, or even an apology from Safe Step. All they do is do the runaround with me. I called multiple numbers, even the saved numbers that came in from the original installer, but when I called, I ended up getting a machine. I slapped down almost $13,000 on the bathtub. I could've spent less than that with a premium brand like Jacuzzi, put it in myself and I don't think I would have done near the damage Safe Step did. Safe Step's product is probably good but they made a boo-boo at the factory and their service is not good. They also need to really clean up their act and pay attention as to who they hire.

The price was good and Safe Step had a special offer when I bought mine. The sales rep was very nice and he kept his words. However, I’m a little disappointed because I didn’t think I was getting enough of the oxygen bubbles out. He told me when I need any information or anything, I should call this certain number, which I did. But when he called me back, he said he is in Utah on vacation. I did want some information on how I get the bubbles to come out more, that was the reason that I bought it. He said he’s gonna have some paperwork for me where I can buy the cleaning stuff. I wasn’t aware that it takes once-a-month cleaning. He did not say that. I wanted him to stop by once more and tell me where he got the crystals they put in the water to make the water soft and all those good stuff.

The people that put the tub in was very nice. They did a very good job. I told him to write down on the paperwork that I’m waiting on the instruction book because there’s a bunch of buttons there that I didn’t know. I’m not very handy with this kind of stuff so they said, “We’ll make a note of it and send it back.” I called their office and they said that they were sending one here. This one lady said, “Well, I sent it out.” I said, "I received nothing" So she said I should get another book that contains the information on what to do and which button goes with what. And of course, I wanted to get the information book and warranty booklet on it. I finally got that a couple of days ago.

The other guys that put it in didn’t give me the 101. I guess they don’t really know. They said, “Go to Bed & Bath and they have this and this.” I went there though I’m a handicapped person and I can’t walk really well. They had nothing for me to use in that spa. They said, “Well try A Hot Tub Place.” Thank goodness I knew the one not too far from them, so I stopped on the way out there. There were two nice ladies and they sold me some crystals. I read the stuff and tried it, and it worked good. And then when I talked to the sales rep, he said, “Well, go try it because I couldn’t get anything else.” And I said, “Well, I did.” You just take like a teaspoon flattened and you don’t take a lot. I figured that when people get in there, it’s not always clean. So when it’s ready, it has to be cleaned out. I tried cleaning it with towels and wipe it and all. It says, “Once a month, put in a cup of bleach and then fill it back up with water.” That’s 40 gallons of water. I would have to have my own well here.

I read through this and yesterday, I went down to the spa place again to see if they had anything easier. We had one in our old house, too. But we never had to run all that 2500 gallon of water to clean it because I only used it once and I was allergic to the ‘PF’ or whatever that you have to put in there. My husband did it. My daughter has MS and she was interested in getting one, too. I only been in it a few times, and it takes a lot of water. And it didn’t do the bubbles for me, which I expected. I do have fibromyalgia and problems on my foot, and I really could have used that.

I checked walk-in tubs and I looked at Home Depot. I checked everything from prices to what I needed to get it installed. The Safe Step Walk-in Tubs' rep was wonderful and their installers were great people. They came earlier that the set time, and since they didn't take down the wall, they were in and out in three hours. I can get in the walk-in tub and fill it up. I don’t have to worry about getting down and trying to get out of the thing. The walk-in tub's really mostly for my mom because she tried to get in our tub over a year ago and she couldn’t get out. She hasn’t taken a bath in a tub since then. And although we had a shower chair in the shower for her, she can soak in a walk-in tub and this helps in her mobility - for the feet, for the back of the legs, the lower part of the extremities and also for the lower back.

I like it as well. With the Safe Step walk-in tub, I can stoop my off the seat a little bit so I can really put my shoulder to where the jets are beating which helps. I was a nurse so I knew how good this walk-in tub would be. My mother can move a little bit better, so she loves it. So far, everything’s cool. The walk-in tub is also good for all ages. My grandson climbed in the tub with me the other day and he enjoyed it. He made me scoot a little bit so he could sit back and have the jets on him.

I contacted Safe Step for information and got a salesperson sent out. I am not somebody who likes a lot of unofficial sales patter. The sales rep was trying to convince my mom that in her current bathtub shower setup, she would fall through the plushy glass and so on. If I were buying it, just the annoyance factor alone would have made me said no. But my mom was more concerned about getting somebody to install the tub quickly. It was a little outside of the price range that she was looking for but the installation was the major deciding factor.

The installation team finished in one day. They did a good job and cleaned up after themselves. It's easy to get in and out of the tub. The way the door is set up gives it strength and stability but it also makes it difficult to clean the tub because when the door opens inward, you're blocking yourself from cleaning a part of the tub. So you have to get in it and then shut the door. But then once you do that, you’re standing in such a way where it’s not easy to get down to the very bottom of the tub to clean it. That part never really occurred to me when she was buying it. Other than that, I have used the tub too and it’s helped some issues with my legs and feet.

The sales rep from Safe Step Walk-in Tubs was fine but their installers were horrible. They were very unprofessional. They were completely unable to complete the job the first time they came out because they couldn’t find the water shut-off since it was buried. Then the installer said that he only had a couple of hours work left to do. He had to come back on a weekday to get it completed. It's because they had to get people from the city out to show them where the water shut-off was. The city people had to come dig it up. In the meantime, the installers tore up my yard and left a big hole in my front yard in the process of looking for the water shut-off. They never took care of that.

When the guy came back that Monday, he said he had a couple of hours work left to do. This is a work night for me and he took 10 hours to do the work. He did not leave my house until 3 o’clock in the morning. This is despite having told me that it was only going to be two hours to get the installation done. That was a major hardship for me because I was supposed to be at work the next day but I had to stay awake and wait for that guy to get out of my house. After he finally got the whole thing installed, he went to test it. He didn’t seal the door and he flooded my entire house. That did major damage to my hardwood floor since the water seeped in under the floor and caused the floor to lift.

The company wouldn’t stand behind it because they claimed it was a previous damage. Although there were some previous damages to the floor, the flood that the guy caused created additional damages. The installer did come and he did some kind of repairs, but they were in no way suitable. I wanted him out of there at that point. So the floor is all messed up and I had to put a rug down over the damage to cover it up. I will not recommend Safe Step because of the installation. But that experience aside, I really love the tub and it works like it's supposed to.

Safe Step Walk-in tubs seem to have a good reputation for the things that I saw online. But I'm a big guy and I had a hard time buying something that neither my wife or I had actually seen in the store or been in. Luckily for my wife and me, they were installing one in another house in our town not too far away a day later. The rep then organized that we could go there and actually get into it and see that we would fit in that thing. And once we had done that, we’re ready to go ahead and buy one. The rep went a little bit out of his way to try to make that happen and he also seemed to know his product pretty well.

The installation team was also helpful. I was worried because our house is a somewhat older and our doorways were too narrow to bring this tub in. But we had a very big picture window where our old tub was and they were able to take the picture window down, bring the new tub in, and then put it back up and organized around it from the inside. It looks very nice.

What I like about our Safe Step tub to start off was that we could walk into it or my wife can walk into it rather than climb over the sides. It was smarter to have a door that opens to the inside rather than the outside. Another thing that I like about it is the jets that blow around because we both have issues with joints. We also use it like a shower right now but we had them put our own shower head on there because we had one that adjusts to different kinds of sprays.

However, I had a problem the first time I tried the tub - I filled it up and the water poured out the door. Then it took a few days for the rep to come back and try to figure out. He couldn’t adjust it to make it work. He thought maybe we had to have another door, so we ordered another and that took a week to come. Then by the time it came, my wife’s mother was dying in Colorado, so we didn’t have a chance to put it back. It’s been almost a month that we have never really been able to use the tub because of leaking doors and not seem to be able to get the door to work.

We’re hoping that if they put this new door on and it fixes the problem that I was assured when we bought it, it would never happen. The reps of Safe Step were not particularly bad and I know making another door takes time. But then again it’s always, “Well, we will be in your neighborhood next Thursday installing another one. Maybe we’ll be able to come out there after that.” It was never like, “Oh, yeah. Let’s make sure we get this one working.”

Another thing was when one day I pulled off on that shower knob and it came right off in my hand. Whether it wasn’t screwed on quite right, I don’t know but I managed to screw it back down and it seemed to work again, but I’m not overly confident at this point. So we’ve never really been able to fill it up and turn on the jets and enjoy ourselves with the tub.

When you use it for a while, you feel pretty good, it relaxes you. The sales reps and the installation guys were fine, we've had some problems and they showed right up to fix them.

My husband is disabled and cannot stand long sustained baths so we were in desperate need of a tub that could be walked in. I saw Safe Step in an ad, we checked it out and was surprised at the price. It said $1,500 off but it's not the $3,000 kind of tub we expected. The sales rep's manner was exceptional. He didn't push. The installation team was very nice and did an excellent job. We just had to clean up in the 1st floor bathroom under the bathroom where the tub was installed because some of the stuff went down into there. As per the tub, we use the jets in the back and on the legs and enjoy it although it wears my husband out too much because he had lung and breathing problems. The only problem is the grout splits about 10 inches on one place in a just a couple of days. Other than that, the tub is working great.

The tub uses an awful lot of water. Then, when we sat on the heated seat, I was expecting the water would be neck-high. It barely comes up midway of the chest and I have to scoot down to get wet. However, I thought that it's going to be good. The sales representative was very helpful and the installation team were excellent, did a great job and cleaned up after themselves.

When we called Safe Step to come to our house and talk to us, the man was very nice, informative and good to help us get everything set up. The sales team helped us get a loan for it, secured and with the payments the way we wanted. My husband said that the people who came were very nice, did a very professional job and cleaned everything up. Anybody I’ve had any interactions with over the phone seemed very nice and informative. My mother likes that the tub is easy to get in and out of. I don’t like that we haven’t shut the door good a couple of times and my ceiling flooded. One time, she hit the latch accidentally and it opened up. We didn’t realize it and it flooded my ceiling. Maybe the latch should be on top or on the front.

I've been constantly thinking about Safe Step and decided to give them a call. One rep, Mike, told me the story of how the person who invented the Safe Step walk-in tub had his grandmother in mind because she had fallen and wouldn't take a bath. I wanted a walk-in tub because I've fallen a couple of times in trying to get out of my traditional tub, and I got tired of just taking showers all the time. Another thing I was thinking about was that my mother will be 95 on July 1, and she's always wanted a bath because they used to give my grandmother a bath. I thought the walk-in tub would be nice for her. I could help her when she comes out and let her take a bath instead of just washing up all the time.

Safe Step was more informative than any other company that I have called and asked questions from. The young salesperson was very knowledgeable and gave me all kinds of information. I asked them questions about other brands and they showed me the comparison. I like things that are made here in the United States, but the other brand is not. The sales rep was very friendly. I always asked him to know who's coming and what kind of credentials I'd be looking for, and he provided all of them. His little van had a Safe Step tub in it. I got in that little van he was driving and in the inside, he showed me what the tub would actually look like. He took his time for the measurements as well as answering all the questions that I had. He explained everything right down to a tee.

The installers were helpful and kind of comical because one was doing the installation and the other one had to go and check on the electricity and the water. So, when water was coming in, one tech was howling to the other one, "Carl, turn the water off," and apparently Carl couldn't hear him because my garage is a little ways away, and so it was like we were doing a relay. It was funny. Then they walked me through everything. They were really nice. Later on, another fellow came in, introduced himself, and checked to see if the work was completed.

I've started recommending Safe Step to friends. I sit in the tub for so long in winter time and take a little nap. I am totally relaxed when I've finished bathing and I sleep so much better. I like the micro jets because they are comfortable and I can feel my skin is much softer when I finish taking a bath.

The salesman from Safe Step who came here was great. He showed me the specs from every other company so I didn’t need to go shopping. The installation was perfect too. The installers set up tubs all over the Rocky Mountain region. They were very knowledgeable and very professional. One of them went downstairs to look at the water heater in the basement so that he knew how many gallons it was and how many gallons it took to fill the tub. They were in and out of here in less than six hours. They were great about cleaning up too.

I used the walk-in tub for the first time two nights ago. The reason for that is because I had to re-tile my great big tub and I didn’t want to use it for fear it might leak. I enjoy the lumbar jet feature of my walk-in tub the most but I'm not able to fully utilize the other jets untiI I figure out how to get the water level above the top jet. When I got the Safe Step walk-in tub, I was assured that my water heater capacity would be sufficient for it. I would not have that problem, but I did. I timed it, filled it and before it was full enough for me to turn on the lumbar jets, I had to shut the water off because it got cold. It was annoying. Other than that, it’s been a good experience and I would definitely recommend Safe Step Walk-in Tubs.

My wife really wanted a Safe Step walk-in tub. She's got physical problems and probably needs therapy. She said that it would be nice if she did not have to go out of the house. If the tub was therapeutic and good for her health, she would be able to use it at home, at her leisure. I thought the tub would probably be good too because it's got the jets that are soothing and I understand that it can clean your skin from the pores. We also felt that the tub was a good thing for us since the tub would complete our bathroom. It was rather costly however since my wife not only had the bath tub installed, she also had the people complete a closed closet. The Safe Step installers did a really good job on it though. Nevertheless, I don't think my wife could have gotten anything different than what she bargained for since the gentleman did the best he could.

My wife used the tub once and was happy with it. I think she's gonna have to use more to know if it's gonna work out, but we moved out of that house so we haven't used the tub again. There was a lady that looked at our tub and she liked the installation and the bath tub itself but didn't know it was that pricey. Still, I would recommend Safe Step to a friend because their representatives were honest, professional, kept in touch with me, and bent over backwards to try to accommodate us.

I called three or four bathtub companies already and when I called Safe Step, they said it would be a week or two before they could get to me. But I told them I needed it ASAP because my wife had a broken hip. They called around, changed their schedule and said, "We can be there and show you what we got tomorrow and see if we can get it done in a couple of days." They showed up the next day like they said and had a van that had a tub in the back of it. They took me out, showed and explained it all to me and I took it. It was an easy sell. I think it was way too much money but I'm not going to argue that point, I didn't have to sign a contract if I didn't want to pay it.

The people that installed it were even better than the salesmen. They came out, measured the bathroom where I want it in and got the tub in there but they couldn't get it turned around to install it. They took it back to the warehouse, got another one and came back and installed it in a different bathroom for me. They took the door out facing the hall leading into the bathroom, took two walls down in the bathroom and installed it. I thought it would take them a day or two but they did it in about four and a half hours. They were top notch and real nice gentlemen.

They also went out of their way to be courteous and kind. They even cleaned up after themselves and it was a good experience to have that particular crew to come and put everything in for me. I've told people that's asked me about them what I thought about them. I don't know if they ever get any business out of it but at least I recommended them to other people.

Everything looked fine and the tub works perfectly. I like that I can just sit there and relax. I also like the lights coming on and off, which doesn't have anything to do with how it operates, and those jets at the bottom with those microscopic bubbles coming in. It does a good job massaging my feet. There are bath beads in ours too, I don't know how to work them yet but I know they're there. Also, it's easier to get inside and outside of the tub on a smaller person and I'm a little on the fat side. But I know if I scoot up in one of the corners of the tub and I can open and close it all right, it's not that big of an inconvenience.

My husband just died. I live by myself and my doctor didn't like me getting in the shower by myself because I have real bad vertigo and I fall down a lot. I've probably had 30 bad falls. I got three leaflets about safe tubs which I read and decided I liked Safe Step the best, so I called right away. However, on the paper, it said there was a $1500 discount but they never mentioned that to me and I got another one yesterday and they're still giving the $1,500 discount. I paid cash and ended up paying $10,000 plus for my Safe Step and then had to pay $2,789 for the 75-gallon tub. The man who sold the tub to me said he thought the 40-gallon would be okay, but it wasn't. He also sold me the very best one they had and the installers that came here said I could have done with a much smaller one because I'm not that big. It was expensive and that washed me out. But the tub is wonderful and looks good.

I love my Safe Step, but they didn't give me very good instructions about what all the buttons are for. They gave me such a quick summary because they didn't finish till midnight. I was going to bed then and the next day, I couldn't remember what they told me. I don't know which button to hit for making the jets work and I'm afraid to hit the wrong one even when I've read the directions over and over. When I tried to call, I kept getting a recording and I asked them to call me back, but they didn't. One day somebody did, but it took a while and I almost had to beg them to call me back.

But I’ve taken three baths and I love it when the colors come on. I got flyers on two other kinds of tubs and I read about them and they don’t have what I got. Another thing about me is I can't sit down and get up because my knees don't bend, and I noticed my knees are all better. I've let my daughter use the tub the other night because she was tired and she loved it too. My neighbors are all asking if they could come over and take a bath. I’m happy with my tub except I wish they would've given me a set of directions. I got a folder but it just tells me what they’re for and it isn’t as explicit as it should be.

I would definitely recommend Safe Step. In fact, my son says he’s going to get the same one that I have. My son is on his third time of his cancer recurring and his chemo makes him deathly sick and hurt all over. I’m going to try to get him in the tub and I think it’ll make him feel better.

I read an article in a magazine about Safe Step. I gave it to my wife and let her read it and see what she thought about it. She said, “Can we have a guy come over and take a look at it?” I said, “Yeah, we can do that.” And it's surprising because we were looking at the Standard tubs. Kevin came over and explained it to us. We’ve seen the video and everything else. I liked the idea of the cut out door where we sit down and close the door. I also liked the way the maintenance program was. Once you buy it, you don't pay maintenance, they’ll take care of it. For the Standard club, we had to pay for every different little thing. It says full maintenance but we get to research it a little bit, “Oh, no. We don’t pay for that.” So when Kevin showed up, I already made up my mind we wouldn’t have bought at Standard, so we had to find something else.

Kevin was very knowledgeable of his product. Every question I asked, he had answers for it. Not only that, he had demonstration to back it up. He knew what he did. He didn’t over pushed it, he just explained it. We looked at it, looked at some of the brochures and stuff he gave us. And the questions I asked, I was satisfied with. When the tub was put in, I come home, and it was all there looking very beautiful and nice. My wife couldn’t wait to get in until the next day because we’re supposed to wait 24 hours before we get in there. She already had her towels and everything up there. She’s got arthritis really bad and the tub helps her out especially with the bubbles inside. She said she feels like a new person. And my old grandma who had a stroke said she can’t wait to get back here.

My grandma likes the lights and the jets. My wife likes everything. She likes the really fine bubbles and everything that come out. She’s doing a good job on all that and she’s well satisfied. As a matter of fact, it was yesterday when I came home she said, “Buddy, I really love that tub.” I said, “Well, good. At least I did something right.” My wife was really particular about what's good and what’s bad so her judgment and her comments were nothing but excellent.

The guys who first came here for my interview told me about the Safe Step Walk-in Tub. The installers were right on time. One of them went in, showed me the tub and filled it up with water. While the others were working on the tub, he told me everything about it, every button, and what it does. The door of the walk-in tub is easy to get into. Also, when I cut grass, it takes me 45 minutes to do it. But now my back starts hurting when I am about 15 minutes into it. I always have to sit down and take a 10 or 15-minute break. After I’m done, I get in the tub and it helps my back out a lot. I have four bathrooms so I could take a shower, a bath or jump in my Safe Step which I like an awful lot. I feel a lot better in it than a shower.

The installers of Safe Step tub were great. They came about 10 o’clock and they were done by 1:30. My brother told me about the Safe Step tub, that he was gonna get one as soon as he got out of assisted living. And then my neighbor was telling me that she wants to get one, too. I love the tub but I'm having a little bit of a problem - water’s been leaking out of it. They had put in a subfloor but it gets my whole bathroom wet. Part of the water leak is because they didn’t put the rod all the way around the tub. They forgot the extension.

Also, one of the magnets came off. I don’t know how that happened but I saw something on the floor in the bathroom that looked like it was part of it and I picked it up and then I took the door off of it. That’s where it belonged and the other part isn’t there too. Now I need the whole thing, but the tub is godsent. When I had my bad nights, I’d go sit in it instead of going to the emergency room because the tub helps me so much. I don’t even have to take a pain pill.

I talked to one of my friends over at Downtown but it took me about four years to buy this tub from Safe Step. I had called and talked to one of the representatives and she had sent me the information out. I looked at it and I decided, “Well, not now.” And then around February I’d tried to get it. I had a Jacuzzi tub and I was having problems getting in it. Then when I tried to get in the shower one day, my hand just slipped and I said, “This is it.” When I talked to the sales rep two years ago, she stayed in contact with me because during that time I had to leave town. I had some medical emergency. She kept in touch with me and emailed me. Then when I decided to buy the tub, the guy came out and he explained everything to me. He had a demonstration in his truck. He had a van and he showed me how it worked.

I was sold basically before he ever came out. He was very informative and he called and checked on me, made sure everything’s okay. On the other hand, the installation team was the best guys in the world. They came in and they talked to me. They were very efficient, cleaned up behind themselves and showed me how everything worked. It was good. I like walking in the tub. Also being able to sit down and clean myself and being when I saw all the grime and stuff that was coming off in the water and seeing I can even take a shower basically because I do the handle and just wash myself, rinse myself off and I don’t have the fear of falling. I feel more comfortable getting in there and doing what I have to do and coming on out. I’ve recommended it to my sister and to the lady I know in Atlanta. It was a wonderful experience.

They were in and out of our flat and when they left, they cleaned up themselves. I was very impressed.

However, I must have been out of the room when the salesperson Mike mentioned that they do not turn on the water jets until the water is at a certain height. So the first time I turned it on, I blew out the bathroom, got a really clean bathroom, because I didn’t have the water high enough. The second time I used it, I didn’t lock the door, so I got my bathroom floor really clean. The third time I’ve used it, all of a sudden about halfway through the bath, the pressure seemed to go down on the air that blows, making it into a whirlpool. I haven’t tried it again since then. So I don’t know if it cycles through heavy waves or I can choose a lower strength of the water. But, I like the tub's back massage. By the time I get out, I can barely keep my eyes open. I love it.

I have had my Safe Step Tub since Dec 2012. I had it installed for my husband but he never used it because he passed away shortly after. I use it occasionally, about every 3 to 4 months and usually just to soak my feet and shower off when I do but have filled it on occasion. I prefer to shower and it does use a lot of water. I also am constantly banging my knee on the handle. I decided to use it today only to find that the water pump is not working. It just hums. I contacted the company that took over for the original company that sold it to me. The installer that I had back then was great. We will see what happens when the tech calls me back. Of course they tried to sell other things when I called. I am pretty upset that this pump is out already and has barely been used. I had a large hot tub in my previous home and only replaced a pump once in 25 years.

Since I already have 14k in this tub, it will be interesting to see what kind of quote I get. I would have been happier with air jets only and a handle on the outside with a door that swings out. The cost would have been less and I wouldn't have to use extra water to clean out the water jets that get moldy if you don't. I also get cold while the tub is filling. I usually have to turn the water flow valve way down because I am small and not comfortable filling it above all the jets. If I don't turn it down, it sprays all over the wall.

But they had clothes with them and they mopped it up immediately. They wanted to mop my whole floor when they were finished, but I told them that was not necessary. They went above and beyond. They were wonderful.

We're also quite impressed with the tub and all the features like the jets and the micro beads that come out. Our grandchildren, who are 5-year-old twins, are impressed with the colors that can be changed. In fact, our grandson went to preschool and when it was his turn for show and tell, he was describing our new bathtub. All of the teachers, staff and kids learned about it. The only thing that concerns me is I had not gotten a bill yet.

I also didn't have a problem with anybody from the installation team. I love that I am able to sit down in the tub and feel my face. My wife's health was the primary consideration in making our choice to get the Safe Step walk-in bathtub. The sales rep who came out here was very honest with us and gave us an excellent experience. We had fun with the installation crew. They were very thorough and cleaned up their mess when they were done. My wife is much more comfortable with the Safe Step tub than with the other tub. One of her favorites is the mini bubbles. The only issue we've had with the tub is when she catches the handle with the leg and have a little mini flood. That has happened about two or three times. Hence, I would recommend some sort of lock on that handle so that it can't be accidentally opened.

I have osteoporosis and I've broken so many bones already and I had the old-fashioned tub where I used a bar to get myself out. I figured I didn't know how long my wrists would be able to pull me up out of that tub so I got something that was safe, which is Safe Step. It's so much nicer than getting in and out of an old-fashioned tub. I've taken showers with it and it's very easy. I like the hand shower and I can get in and out of the tub real fast. I really enjoy it and I feel nice and clean when I come out of there.

I looked over all walk-in tubs over the internet. Safe Step seemed to have what I've wanted more than anything else and had all the best guarantee. Their sales representatives were very polite, informative, and answered my questions. They told me they would come look at my bathroom and give me a recommendation. The installation part was a bit of a problem. A guy had explained the contract and I signed it. That guy was very nice and said everything would be fine. They sent the first installation team in and when they came out from looking at the bathroom, they said the tub they had won't fit. The team went to confer with somebody then they left. That was the part that bothered me - not what they said but the fact that they wouldn't even discuss it.

I called the main office but the guy from before was not in. He called me back though and said that they were going to send out someone else to take care of it. The other guy came and removed the phasing off the living room door which was catty-cornered from the bathroom - the reason why the first installers said the tub can't get in. He was able to install the tub and replace the phasing within one day, then everything was okay. This second guy was very competent, quick, and rectified the mistake of the first installers. Due to this, I'd still recommend Safe Step.

I like the way everything in the tub is arranged. I have the ability to reach everything while sitting in the tub. The tub also has a shower head that can be lifted up. I just had shoulder surgery and I can't get it inverse, but I can rinse with the shower head. This is my favorite thing about the tub - the convenience of being able to sit, take a bath, then in the end, shower off.

Then the first time, it was very difficult for us to get anything out of it. I couldn't get the back jets on because I didn't know how. The tub is fine but the people that put them in needed to spend another minute with us to give good directions on how to use it. Safe Step's tub was 100% guaranteed and I liked its features. Since my son and I have arthritis, I thought it would help us a lot. My son's also got Down Syndrome and he really enjoys that bath. He does feel a lot better after using the tub, but he's still going to have a hip operation because he has a whole lot of difficulty walking with the right leg. The tub helps him a lot since he's able to open and close the bathtub and he is so happy. He enjoys sitting in it and looks forward to his bubble bath. He even raves about it and goes down to his sister's house to tell her all about it.

But one Sunday night when I was downstairs attending my animals, I found a whole lot of water on top of a little storage table that I had and discovered a leak from the re-installation of the sink or the toilet bowl. It had been accidentally leaking for quite a while because I had a pile of newspapers in that room and they were wet. It was also starting to smell kind of nasty and funky. I always check under the tub and there was no leak there. The workmanship in the bathroom was great, but I have never checked the far side of the room on the outer wall until I turned on that light and it started to smell kind of musty down there. So I was going to call them. Anybody can make a mistake and open up something. You can't foretell a leak. So they still did an excellent and beautiful job. We love our tub and it makes us feel so much better.

The rep at Safe Step seemed to be knowledgeable and cordial. However, the price was never revealed until the end of the presentation. He also hit me with a $19,000 price tag then gave me all these big discounts and got it down to $16,000. I thought he was trying to sincerely give me a good price. I told him it was out of my price range but he assured me he could get me financed, so I ended up signing everything and taking the deal.

Installation was within a week or two. The installers cut into my doorway to take the old tub out and put the new tub in. They spent about seven hours putting it in and didn't do a very good job because there are gouges and holes in the wall beside the tub in one area. My doorway looks terrible now. There's a big gap where they tried to put my doorway back together. The door sticks and makes all kinds of racket. I didn't expect them to be finish carpenters, but I expected it to be the best it could be done in a rough way. My floor is always wet too. I use the tub every day as a shower and that's when it happens.

There's a lot of things that I'm not happy with. I mainly got the tub for my wife because she's paralyzed on her right side and she hasn't been able to take a bath in it because she can't sit on the seat that long. I can't also get it filled for her as it takes too long. When I researched about the water leaking over and soaking the floor, I stumbled upon the fact that there are different prices and I paid on the highest end. I'm very unhappy with that because it's a real financial burden. If I were happy with everything, I would at least feel that it's worth it. However, the fact that we're not able to use it and they overcharged me by $6,000, I feel like I've been taken advantage of.

The potential is there. The product is a decent one, but I feel like we've been overcharged and no one cares whether we use it or not. There is a manager at Tennessee who didn't seem concerned, trying to tell me that I can find any kind of price I want online. The fact is, it was all Safe Step that I was looking at. I wasn't looking at anyone else's. The sales rep gave me the $19,000 and they kept taking it down. I did not realize that it's basically whatever I can negotiate and it's not a set price.

I like the fact that it has the jets that I can put on my feet when my feet are hurting. The jets get my lower back too, and it feels good and makes me relax more. But the seat's a little hot so I have to turn it off, and the beads that they gave me don't give much of a fragrance at all. When I called, they said to take the beads out and soak them in some water and lavender oil to work better, but that didn't work. I think the beads are just old, and the girl at Safe Step said they had a package in the office that they were gonna send me. Plus the jets are high enough that if you lean forward, it squirts all over the bathroom.

Their installers were very knowledgeable and courteous, and the sales rep was a very nice man. The only thing that I thought was weird was when I called the company about the beads not working, the rep said, "Well, you can buy a whole bottle of them at Bed, Bath & Beyond cheaper than you can buy the other ones." But those are liquid gels and you're not really supposed to use them in a step-in tub. And I almost went that route because of what he told me. I thought well, that gel's gonna leak down inside, so that doesn't make sense to me because the other beads are completely dry.

So then I called again and the other rep told me not to use those, that I had to get special gel beads. So I thought that was kind of strange because I could've ruined the tub. A man told me that I can go to Bed, Bath & Beyond, since they carried them, and Walmart carried them, too. But Bed, Bath & Beyond doesn't have the dry gel beads that you need to put in there with the little puffs of the little mesh bags when there's no gel in there. They're called gel beads but you can't really use the ones with the gel because that would ruin the tub with that leaking down inside. But overall, I've been very pleased with Safe Step. I couldn't have been able to get the tub before but I'm glad I got it now.

The sales rep seemed pretty knowledgeable and the guys that installed it seemed friendly and confident. They said they liked installing my wife's tub because all of her paperwork is done correctly so their job is actually easier. It was a generally pleasant experience. They were professional and was easy on us.

My mom keeps getting in a regular bathtub and when I saw Safe Step on TV, I called them and got the information for her. Their sales guy then came and talked to us about getting the payment and explaining what comes with it and what they're going to do to put it in. He was very nice and polite. The installers were very happy and cheerful. And even if I was in a bad mood, they were still happy and going at it. They had to bust up the concrete bathtub, but they were like, "I'm trying to be quiet." And I said, "It's okay." But here's one downfall to the bathtub that I really care about - I can turn off the jet on the seat, but I can't turn it all the way off so it's still pushing some water out. It feels a little awkward. Still, overall, it was a pleasant and enjoyable experience, that's why we've already recommended it to the neighbors.

The only interaction I had with Safe Step was when the finance company sent me things and they went back. Everything went in my street address while I have a post office box, and I didn't get it down on the paperwork, which was my fault. We finally got everything worked out. The installation people were here longer than I needed them to be here, but they were fine and took every scrap away after finishing work. The tub is too expensive, but it’s a fine piece of equipment. I’ve taken showers my whole life and I’ve never realized that I didn’t feel clean. Now, I feel clean. I like the little bubbles and the foot massage. I have to put up some kind of barrier though, like a shower curtain, because I tend to get water all over the place.

I like Safe Step's design better than that of the other walk-in bathtub companies, so I went with them. Their sales rep answered all my questions, was thorough, nice and so I had a very nice experience. Their installation team came in and did a good job. With our Safe Step tub, I'm more relaxed, and my mother is, too, since she now has less aches and pains. I like the shower and the bubbles, although I can't figure out how to work the aromatherapy, and I got to call in and see how to do it. But the tub is really nice and I like it. I've had a very pleasant experience and I'm very happy I made the decision to go over to Safe Step.

I would recommend Safe Step Walk-In Tubs to anybody. Their sales rep was very good, very efficient, and very thorough. Their installation team was excellent, too. I'm enjoying my tub so far. It is very easy to use and easy to clean. It's also a safety feature for older people. The jets are wonderful, too. With its price and it being American made, I prefer it over the others. It's a great tub.

I like all the features of our Safe Step walk-in tub and I like that you didn't have to step up so high, but it ended up being a little higher than what I thought it was going to be. I like the jets and the heated seat of our walk-in tub. I've had a lot of problems with my leg and having the tub has helped it. All of my interactions with the sales rep were good except that he said he was going to be out when our tub was installed and follow up, but we haven't heard from him since the initial visit. The installation team were very helpful and explained a lot of things. I do need to have somebody come back out because we're having problems with one of the doors falling open. But other than that, the team interaction was very good. Overall, the experience was good, although there were a few things they could've improved upon.
