    Installation & Setup

    Reviewed Dec. 24, 2019

The Safe Step representative did a really good job. My husband wasn’t too excited about the tub until he saw her presentation, and then he really wanted it. It's a fantastic tub, but a strange thing happened a couple of hours after it was installed. We lost part of the electricity in the house. We lost half our overhead lights in the den and the kitchen and several of the outlets. We never had a problem like that before and don’t know what happened.

A Safe representative came out and said it wasn’t anything they did when they were installing the tub. We thought maybe it was something that they did by mistake that caused it to happen, but when the electrician came out, he said that everything was fine. The tub is more elaborate than I expected it to be and it has more features than I really thought it would have. We’re happy with it. I haven’t been able to use it because I have an ulcer on my leg, but my husband has and he really likes it.

Looking at different advertisements and construction and so forth, we decided to go with Safe Step and that was why we canceled our appointments with the other ones. We also had a very good interaction with the sales representative. Then, everything went beautifully. It took a little longer than expected but that was fine. He came back on the third day and he finished it up by himself. He did a good job. Now, I can soak a long time. I love hot baths.

Our sales representative from Safe Step was real sweet and friendly and she really explained everything about the tub. She stayed with us for a long time.

The installation was okay. It’s long, but then it takes a long time for that to put it in. The only thing is I thought they left our faucets and everything that we had in the tub because it was that gold tone, but they took them with them. We had one piece that was there and my husband said, “I want to keep that,” and we had it in a bag. So, we thought we had it all in the bag.

Somebody came and wanted it because they bought the shower door and it was bronze with the gold around it, and they wanted the pieces. When we were gonna sell it to her, there wasn’t anything in that but one piece. I guess they wanted them and they took it with them. Overall, with our new walk-in bathtub, I can take a shower now that I couldn’t because I can use the hand shower. I like the jets. They’re really strong, but I told my daughter I could get drowned in there because they’ll knock out that seat if you don’t hold on. They have some strong jets. Safe Step is great. We like it.

Safe Step's price made me choose them. Their sales reps were okay with a little high-pressure, saying, “If you buy it now, we’ll give you this discount. It’s only good for today.” And I don’t like that very much. The installation team knew what they were doing. They installed it within a day which was fantastic. Most of the other places say they would take a couple of days. But they came in, got it done and they cleaned up really good, and they were gone within eight hours. Everything went good. I like the jacuzzi part of it, but just the being able to get in and out of it.

Safe Step's sales rep was well-spoken and he obviously knew what he was talking about. Only, he was a bit wrong about the size of the water heater. We discovered that we don’t have as large enough water heater in the house to fill up the tub. If we had known that we needed a 100 gallons, I don’t think that would change our mind. We still would’ve got it. Other than that, the guy was very polite, soft-spoken and a very amiable kind of fellow. The installers were very nice people too. The installation was very good, but we have to deal with a leak. We don’t know where it leaked, underneath someplace and came out in the ceiling of our kitchen. We haven’t made a phone call yet and we are waiting for the holidays to be over. Otherwise, we like it.

Eric, the Safe Step sales rep that came out, was all right. He's got money to make too, but the absence of information is what did this because we've got a tub that we can't use now. We got it for the wife who is obese and a diabetic, but we couldn't get the door closed. I went out on the internet, picked up some information and stuff on it. I knew it was not gonna be an easy install. Apparently, they have three different sizes of tubs that we didn't know about. We were hoping to fit a new one in there, because the one that they put in there was awfully tight. Safe Step was supposed to get back with us. Eric said he'd see what they could do about this. He's gonna have to come out and make some measurements. Our address is remote. To get to us, they have to come out of Denver, Colorado.

We called Eric on Monday and he said he'd get back to us. By Monday of this week, he hasn't called, so I called the main office and they said they'd get back to me the same day, and I haven't heard back from them yet either. I used the tub once, but other than that, we're stuck with it. I had plumbing and stuff set aside so they could do all these. The guys who installed it were professionals. They were young, ambitious men, and they went to work and they didn't mess around. They were good workers.

I'm disabled and I have a brain injury, so I wasn't able to comprehend all of the instructions. I have to get the manual out and go through it 'cause I know there were some things they said about what to do and not to do. While the electricians were good, the installers didn't put stuff back where they had taken it from. So, one bedroom is a mess with all the other stuff in a corner. They could have put some of the stuff back where they got it from. As far as the inspection, we need to have it rescheduled and make sure that the electrician is here because these county employees will not wait. We tried to get the inspection, but the electrician was not here and the inspector could not wait for him. I even tried to get him to wait so I could call to find out where the electrician was, and he just said no and he was gone.

My wife and I both have problems with our joints and things in old age. We thought maybe a tub like Safe Step, with all the water jets in it, might help us loosen up our joints. But so far, we haven't been able to find out because we can’t get it full of hot water. When they sold us the bathtub, they should’ve told us the size of the water heater we’d need. I've got a 53-gallon tank and I thought that’d be enough, but it is not of sufficient size to fill the tub with hot water so we're gonna have to put in a new one. That’s an expense I have to have now. It’s also a discomfort having to wait until I can get a plumber out here to redo the water heater and get rid of a perfectly good one in order to get a bigger one. I'm dissatisfied with Safe Step.

We spoke with a representative on the phone about the Safe- Step -Tub. We agreed to have a sales person contact us which contacted us the same afternoon. The price and installment information was explained to us in detail when we had our meeting with the salesman. He measured everything and helped us decide on the best option for us. The installation went exactly as we had been told, in and out in one day with the finished work completed as explained it would be. We love our tub, My husband has Parkinson's and I have Fibromyalgia. This tub has made such a difference in our lives. I no longer worry about my husband falling while bathing and the soothing jets give me relief with my worse days of Fibromyalgia. I have called with questions twice and received a call back within the same day. Would recommend this company and this tub to anyone.

I purchased a Safe Step for my mother. She's 85 and has limited mobility, so we were looking for an easier way for her to get in and out of a tub. We went with them because they do their own installation, and so we liked the fact that we were not buying a tub from one place and have someone else install it. Also, we liked the overall package. The sales call was great. We were well already sold on it, so he didn’t have to convince us very much. We made the deal on his first sales call, and they scheduled the installation very promptly -- it was installed within three weeks. They had a crew of three guys who came out, and they started at eight o’clock in the morning and they were gone before 3:00 in the afternoon. When it was done, it was perfect. My mom enjoys the tub and it makes her feel safe. She is always taking baths, and she can take baths again. We are very pleased with it.

I have exterminator come to my house quarterly to spray in and out for preventive maintenance. My problem has gotten worst. This almost $20,000 tub I purchased has turned into a nightmare. Customer service is not existent. They are RUDE! The company states in contract lifetime warranty. But, they offer me no help. I have been bleaching tub 5-6 times a day. Problem still exist. And when he took it out it's kinda cheap made stuff, and it kinda wore out the screw holes. So the second time the door was opened after that it fell off the hinges. I'm absolutely furious, I'm ready to have this tub torn out. The two fine young men came and put the tub in. They worked very hard even late into the evening to get it done. The salesman, however, lied to me. He told me that the tub would be all right in there with my commode, but it is not. There is a door, then on the left side, there is another door that has got the step behind it. It is pushing that open about an inch, so there is not really a room for it in there. It needs to have a smaller commode which I will have to find to get in there. I don't blame the kids because they were wonderful. But, they were also supposed to leave me a book so I would know how to use it, and they forgot it. But that was partly my fault, too.

The first time I got in to use it, I filled it up, thought it was wonderful, and then I couldn't get up because I couldn't open up the valve to have the water go out. So, I was in the tub for about two hours until I finally got someone from customer service who told me how to get it open -- I went from about three different people. It was too hard to open, so my husband had to open it up for me. But we did get it open. I've had one bath in it since I've got it, and I'm not taking another one until I get a book and know how to use it.

I called Brian who is evidently in our area, and he was wonderful. He got somebody named Chris that was going to come out and see what was wrong. We had him scheduled for a meeting one day, and then I had a procedure that had to be done. I had to call Brian and tell him that the guy couldn't come because I had to be in the hospital at that time. I've called Brian a couple of times since and asked him could he reschedule this guy. I would never recommend Safe Step to anybody, and I wouldn't keep the tub myself if it wasn't already in. I'm ready to have it out of my home and have them put back what they took out.

I’m 85 and I've had sciatica and spinal stenosis for a couple of years now. It keeps getting worse and I can’t take any medication for it. So when I heard about Safe Step, I thought it might be ideal for me. I ran into a problem when I tried to get in by myself. I couldn’t manage to empty the tub. I called the company my first time in and they told me they would have the installer call me. This was two days after it was installed. That was 11:30 in the morning on a Thursday, and then I didn’t hear from anybody till Friday at 5:00. I ended up calling the fire department to help me get out of the tub because my husband is handicapped. He’s been living for 55 years with MS and he tried to get in the bathroom and help me bale it out with a little bucket but we weren’t successful. And because of the arthritis in my hands, I couldn't open the latch to let the water out, and it was a mess. I sat there for about an hour, and of course I got cold.

The installer called me and said, ‘I heard you had a problem.” I said, “Yes, I did, yesterday morning.” He said, “I’ll be over there in 20 minutes.” He came in and he didn’t know I was sitting on the bed in the bedroom where my bathroom is. I was sitting on the bed keeping an eye on him and he was on his hands and knees in the back of the thing he had taken the side off, and he was doing some adjustments in there. There was something amiss in there and he closed everything up. He didn’t know I was there listening and watching. He was surprised and said, “That won’t happen again.” I said, “It better not.” And he left.

There was another instance. I'm in a condo here in Pembroke Pines and when you install something like that, you need to have a ticket. While the techs were installing it the first day, the condo police, our guard Mike, and another man with a flip board came in and said, ‘Where is your permit?” I said, ‘I don’t know.” I asked the installer. “Oh, you gotta call the office.” I called the office. "Where is my permit?" They said, "We’re gonna e-mail it right away.” I said, “Don’t e-mail it to me. My printer is not working.” I just got that permit yesterday. I raised hell which didn’t do any good. It was frustrating for me. They were supposed to deliver them the day before, and I was supposed to have the inspection today. I wouldn't recommend this for any other 85-year-old. It’s really hard on the nerves.

I felt comfortable with the presentation at the time. The sales rep was great. But the installation wasn’t what I thought it would be. When the gentleman first came out, they were okay, but as the installation went on, I didn’t know it was gonna put so much dust in my house. And I just brought my husband home from the hospital. So that kinda went against his respiratory system.

They changed us from a shower to the walk-in tub. They had to remove the step from the shower, so there was a lot of cement dust everywhere. After the fact, they put up the plastic to keep it from getting on my side of the bedroom. But by the time they put it up, all that dust was all over the room. So we could not go back in our room for almost a month. My husband has been diagnosed with cancer, which was the second reason that I went ahead and got the walk-in tub. I was trying to get a seat to sit in the shower, so he can sit, and I don’t have to worry about him falling.

The gentleman who installed it was not happy with the worker that he had. I went into the bathroom but he gave me impression he didn’t want me in there. They had to remove my doorframe going into my bedroom to get the tub in there. When they put the doorframe back, now the door jams. I talked to Caitlin and I've also talked to someone named Bill. I explained to them that my husband just recently got out of the hospital again, and they’ve indicated that they will come out and check for me.

Another problem is the way the showerhead was installed. We got the tall one that you can take up and down, and the showerhead is almost on top of it. They told me to just move it around. But if I move it around, the water splashes all over the bath shelving that I have, plus if I move it a different way, it splashes over the other way and it leaks on the floor. When I'm taking a shower, I don’t leave the water on because I don’t want water all over my floor.

The selling point about this tub is how fast the water goes out. It’s an old house and maybe the water runs slow, but my husband has to sit in that tub for almost 10 minutes. Now, I got the seat warming but he doesn’t like that. He's not a bath person. He’s always been a shower person. He's probably impatient with it and with it taking so long to fill the tub up. The more that I try to use the shower, the more dissatisfied I am in getting with it because it’s not what they advertised and if it was a discrepancy of where they had to put the tub itself, I wish someone would have said it to me. I've had a lot to have this put in but if it wasn’t going to work out, I would have paid to have my shower put back in. Right now, it’s just an inconvenience for me and for my husband because it takes me longer now to shower. It has become cumbersome to take a bath now. We can use it, but I would not recommend it.

The man explained to me how to operate the bathtub, but he didn't practice me to do it to see. I should have had the outline of the tub while he was explaining so I could actually manipulate it, and we moved to the control for it. But I didn't have it until now. Other than that, I was satisfied with their work and the tub seems to be what it's supposed to be. I like the whole tub!

My husband and I have back and neck problems. We thought a walk-in tub would make it easier for us. The installation guys were good, very courteous, and funny. You could talk to them, too. They went beyond what they had to do. They made like a landing behind it so I can stand on it to clean the mirrors up there, because it used to be a Jacuzzi tub, so it is a wide area. My husband likes the walk-in tub, except for one problem. The door that they put on opens inwards, which makes it harder to get into it. It should have opened out.

Also, I run out of hot water before I even get the thing full so that I can use the jets, and I don’t know why we are running out because we have a 90 gallon tank. In fact, we have two tanks. By the time we get past the upper jets, I no longer have hot water and it goes out cold water. Nevertheless, the tub relaxes the muscles. The jets are my favorite features, but I don’t like the lights because they bother my eyes and they knew that when they put it in. I've only been in it twice, and my husband uses the tub more than me because I don’t like the way the door is, and when it finally gets up to those upper jets.

My husband was always afraid he was gonna fall when he got in the shower. He has a lot of medical problems. The installation of our Safe Step went good. But the installers didn’t seem like they wanted to take care of my house. My house is very clean and I asked them to cover their shoes. I didn’t like that they just came in and went all over my house in my carpets with their shoes after going outside and inside. People don’t want their carpet messed up if they can help it, especially all through their house. They installed upstairs, so they were coming through the kitchen, off the steps, and through the dining room, and it went through the dining room and into the kitchen outside. And the dining room’s carpeted, it’s carpet all up the steps, and in the hallway, and in my bedroom. I thought they could have been a little bit more cleaner.

And then, they didn’t put up anything between the doors that goes into my master bedroom and my walk-in closet. They did put up some type of a cloth on the two doors, but then they got lazy and didn’t do that because it did make a lot of dust in those two places. They cleaned up afterwards, but not in those two rooms. I got dust on some of my clothes that I’m gonna have to take down and run through the dryer to get the dust off.

We were told they’d put it in in one day, but it took three days. And we had a problem, which was our fault, but we thought it was theirs. We let the water go out. We have a low shower in the bathroom from where the tub is. It’s kind of like a step-in shower, too, but it’s a little bit higher. And so, when we let that water go out, it ran over and came out on the floor. But first we thought they had hooked it up wrong. They sent somebody out here, and what it was was when we let all of that water out at one time, it caused the crust to come off from the pipes and that crust stopped it up. The guy who came out here, worked on it, and now it’s running good. We love the tub a lot and we love taking baths in it. I like the jets and I like the heater more. It keeps the water warm. I would let others know that they’d love one if they get one.

When the other brand was advertising on TV, they didn't advertise the shower package and Safe Step did so I went with Safe Step. I need the shower but I enjoy the jacuzzi part of the tub. I like the little jets. I've been taking the tub for a spin about every day and I love everything about it. The installation team did good. They had to tear our old tub out, repair the floor, then install the tub because under the bathtub, we had some rotting under there. They also had to take the whole doorjamb out because my house was built in the 30s so we had this real small bathroom door. They had to tear all that out in order to get the tub in and take the sink out, and once they got it in, they rebuilt everything back like it was. So, they put a lot in the installation. They were very professional and courteous. Everything went smoothly.

I've heard about Safe Step throughout the years. A couple of years ago, I had a friend who came by and we took a look at it, but I didn’t have the money then. Then about a couple of years ago, somebody came here and I gave them some money to install it. But I had an emergency and I had to back off. And then I was watching Safe Step on TV until one day I told my wife, “Look. I need to call these people and have them come to check it out." When I made the purchase, the man and wife team showed me a few people that did it, and I was looking at it and I said, “Wow, look at his legs.” And then the woman said, “Well, in about 90 days, this is what happens.” She showed me three different people. I told her she didn't have to sell me that. I was sold a long time ago.

I had a lot of problems with my legs. I have type 2 diabetes, but I got nerve damage in my leg, neuropathy, plus, high blood pressure, and I might have to go on dialysis. I beat it for two years. I kinda knew everything about it, but when the woman showed the 90 days difference of what people were having problems with their leg circulation and all that, I told my wife this is what I need. She said, “No, you can go to a whirlpool and do all that.” I said, “No, this is what I need.” Because that way, I can do it at home in privacy.

I also told my wife it might help her too. She had a lot of problems with her veins. I told my wife, it’s gonna help her back, it will massage her back, it will clean her up. But I was just beginning and then later I said, “You know what I like about this tub? It cleans your butt.” She started laughing. But really, it will massage your legs and back, and take out all the pain you got.

The guy came in to put it in a day early. When he said, “Do you mind if I --” I said, “No, man, go ahead. I appreciate it. You just do what you gotta do.” And the gentleman and his wife did a fantastic job. They were very professional, courteous, kind, knowledgeable, and the guy made sure I knew everything before he left. His wife talked to my wife. She showed her everything, because I don’t pay attention to a lot of stuff. I just pay bills and that’s what I worry about.

I've used the tub twice. I didn’t have problems with my septic tank, but there was something there that wasn’t right. So, I called a friend of mine to come by to check it out. He told me what the problem was and he said it was minor. “From now on, you just don’t put like baby wipes, when you clean the baby stuff, don’t throw it in there.” So, it worked out perfect.

We were worried about maybe we had too much water. I told my wife I don’t see why. We had a big tub here and the man took it out. The only thing about the tub, it doesn’t have jets in it. Plus, I can get in it but I couldn’t get out. Too low for me. I had to put a bar across my tub to pull and I couldn’t do that because of my legs and arms. So, I told my wife, “No, this is better. I can walk in, sit down.” I’ve tried it. I ran it to my knees, and the first day we went in, I said, “See there, look. All of these coming out of your legs, it’s skin.” The second time I did it, it wasn’t too bad. You could see it was a little bit clearer. I said, “It’s working. It’s just gonna take time.” So, I was very satisfied. I told my wife, “Look. If it doesn’t help, it doesn’t help. Just do it like taking a bath in the tub. It’s just a little bit different. But the thing about it is you might not see everything then, but in the process, you gotta give it time.”

And I said, “Don’t worry about it. I’m not.” She said, “Well, It’s too big.” “Are you paying for it?” She said, “No.” “Then don’t worry about it.” Because that’s the only way I can get along with my wife. My son said, “Mom, why are you worrying? Dad pays for everything, and she makes sure that you don’t have to worry with all that stress.”

I called the finance company and I said I wanna make three payments. So, they sent me a letter stating that all three payments were paid, next payment is due in March. I'm all ready for March. I’ve prepared for it. I'm very pleased with the people that installed the tub and I'm very pleased with the people that I’ve talked to in finance.

I talked to Safe Step's rep and he came and showed me a video. He showed good points about Safe Step's tub that other tub companies didn't have. I purchased one and the installer and his don did most of the work. The son had a visit the next day so the main installer did it by himself and finished the job. However, I wish the tub had a handle on the inside so I could lift myself up. If I had a handle that is low enough, I could push myself up. I'm 71 years old and I have a hard time getting up.

Also, I wish I got a bigger tub from them 'cause now I really hustle or put my leg up on the seat to get that tub door shut. I'm over 200 pounds and so the door doesn't shut and open easily. Nevertheless, the tub I have is very relaxing and I Iike the small and big bubbles feature that it has. I like the lights as well. When I turn the light off, being in the tub is a little soothing. I'm very satisfied with what I have.

But I haven’t found any place that sells it. I had asked where to obtain it, and he said, the guys that installed it said that a lot of the pharmacies have it. However, the pharmacies that I checked don’t have that. But I like the tub. We bought it because of my dad. He’s 98, and I thought it’d give him some comfort.

He was from the area, and when you know somebody is from the area where you live, that makes a difference. It’s not just some salesman from 100 miles away. The installation team was very good, and they were in and out. There are a couple of little things I’d like them to come back and fix, but I haven’t contacted them yet. So, it’s not their fault and it’s more of a cosmetic thing.

There are tubs out there that are much less expensive, but I’m pleased with what we spent. I like that I get time to sit in the tub and relax because it makes you. I love the light and putting a scent in there. It’s more of a spa experience than a bath. I rarely get in the tub without using the jets but I just remembered that the smaller jets are oxygenated, so I needed that too. I really like the big jets and I’ve got a jetted tub, but I just won’t get out of that tub. It’s really cool and I wish I got a door that opened outward rather than inward.

She replied to try to find someone and, meanwhile, she would put in repair order and we would be contacted. Well we have never been contacted and are still waiting.

I think consumers should be aware that even with the “Lifetime Labor Warranty” there are problems keeping their commitment. I was very happy with the first installation team, but I can’t say I’m that happy with the shower installation.

Using both the walk-in tub and shower is an enjoyable experience. I like all of the features. I’ve had the tub for a while. I just recently had the shower option installed and one thing I noticed is my water pressure is not as great as it was. It takes longer for the tub to fill up. I noticed it right away that evening after the shower was installed. I thought that maybe the water pressure was down in the neighborhood, but no, that’s not the problem. And the other thing, the pipe and shower head that’s attached to it, is adjustable. It could be made higher or lower. But when I make it lower, even though I tighten it, as soon as I put the water on, it pushes it back up again. It doesn’t stay at the level that I wanted. But I’m sure Safe Step will make it right. I’ll give them a call and we’ll take it from there.

It took them all day to get it in, but they worked at it and when they got through, it was really nice. We played cards at my house yesterday, so my card player got to see it.

However, I called a week or so ago when the glass door for the shower fell down and was dragging on the tub. And the caulking at the back came loose behind the fixtures. It makes an awful noise. Safe Step said they’d have someone call me, but I haven’t heard anything yet. I'm also having a problem with pressure. It takes 35 minutes for the tub to fill up and three minutes to empty. My neighbor came over and she wanted to try it out, and she timed it. So I’ve not used the tub part of it very much. I’ve mostly used the shower but I’d like to use the tub once in a while. I’m not a person to get in a tub and sit there for hours but it’d be nice. It’d make my back and my legs feel better to use the jets. And I like the heated seat in the back. We got our second Safe Step tub. We had one when we were at Prescott Valley and liked it. But I like this new one even more ‘cause it’s got the shower and that’s the reason I went forward with it. I’m not one to sit in a tub all the time. My wife likes it too. Also, this new tub is bigger than the one we had, which is nice ‘cause it gives us room to move around a little bit when we’re showering. I like the showerhead as well ‘cause it has no sting. It’s just like a rainfall and it’s nice and soft. That’s great ‘cause I’m 81, and my skin is like tissue paper and it doesn’t take much pressure for it to hurt, especially water pressure.

However, the showerhead has been leaking. I didn't realize it until I turned it on one day, and before I got in, water hit me in the face. I got on the steps to go look and it’s been leaking up on top ever since they installed it. It isn’t running all the time and it’s only when I turn the shower on. And if I move it enough to where I turn it on, the water doesn’t shoot outside the shower. It just runs down off the top and down inside, so I’m not panicking and not worrying about it. It could be a cut or a gasket that either didn't get put in or got turned too many times and broke, and that happens. I’ve done plumbing work but I’m not gonna mess with it. They installed it so I'm letting them get out and make sure it’s right. Also, it feels like the tub is moving a little bit. I don’t wanna feel like I’m gonna fall so I want them to double-check it.

I called Safe Step and told them about the issues and they took a couple days to call me back to set up sending somebody out to check on those. Their guy is supposed to come today but he couldn't give me a time so I’m sitting here, waiting for him. I hope they can straighten out the nice showerhead. Other than that, I enjoy sitting and relaxing in the tub with all the bubbles. One gets a lot of aches and pain when they get older. I definitely recommend Safe Step.

Safe Step Walk-in Tubs was rated the highest. I like that I can just do the foot massage. My only real complaint was I kept trying to get the permit for the electrical and plumbing. I was told that it was gonna be taken care of, but it wasn't. In order to get it done, I finally had to go to the town myself and schedule the appointment. It's a minor detail, but if I didn't follow up on it, I would totally forget that, "Gee, the inspector hasn't come by," and it's both plumbing and electrical so it's two different inspectors. Fortunately, they came yesterday and everything was fine. But the fact that I'm a retired landscape contractor, and there was a part of me that says, "Okay. The salesman did his job and the installation guys did their job," but the final detail of making sure that everything was done was just not followed up on, even though I made numerous calls. But other than that, the installation was seamless.

Everybody there has done everything they said they were gonna do. The installation experience was really good and their crew cleaned up after themselves. However, the aromatherapy feature doesn't really work. Still, I've been liking the microbubble feature.

The sales representative who sold me my Safe Step walk-in tub was good. However, I wish I wouldn’t have bought it. I saw another one with another company and it was just a step-in tub that doesn’t have all the features. I wish I wouldn’t have bought all the other equipment. For the installation, I know that it was a big job. If they could’ve got it done at about 3 o’ clock in the afternoon, I would have been good. But they were here until 6 o’clock at night. I hadn’t eaten all day and I couldn’t wait for them to leave because they had been here all day. I’m an old person, I live alone, and I’m usually wearing down by that time.

Then, they showed me, really fast, how to use the thing. I had to keep saying, “Slow down.” The guy went through the directions in about five minutes and that’s it. And at the time when he said, “Do you have any questions?” I didn’t have any questions because I didn’t even know how to turn the thing on. So, the first time I used the tub was a disaster and it hasn’t been a good thing. I learned how to take a shower and how to fill the tub, but I haven’t learned all the other stuff yet. I have read the pamphlets that they left and it’s not really clear on how to make all those water flow things. I really haven’t used the tub that much except for showers, washing my hair and soaking my feet. I even had my daughter over to try to read the things to me and I need to learn it, but I don’t know if I’ll ever learn all that. Right now, I’m not happy, but I may be after I learn it all.

We kept waiting for it and I forgot it, so I figured, someday we gotta tell them about that when I call. But other than that, my wife enjoys the walk-in tub. We got it for her back. Getting in there helps her out. It feels great when she gets off so it’s really a big help to her. That can only do so much but the whirlpool in the tub already makes her feel better.

No one ever called me back. I made numerous phone calls to them and was told someone would call me. I never heard back from them as soon as they found out that the VA wouldn’t pay for it.

The installers knew what they were doing. They did it briskly and got out and everything was clean and nice. They did a good job. So far, everything is going excellently with our tub. In fact, my wife uses it more than I do. I do think that it's going to help her bad knees and fibromyalgia. I like being able to just walk in and have the warm water and be able to sit in the warm water, because I couldn't get up and out of the other tub. So that's by far the best and the most convenient thing for me. However, my wife have really bad fibromyalgia and the jets seem so strong. I didn't know that there were some jets that were not as strong as the jets that's in ours.

It would be easier for me to have a short step to get into the tub 'cause we're both getting on in age. As a matter of fact, she's in rehab right now after breaking her hip so she decided we should get Safe Step. At first, we were talking about the step-in shower, but she likes the massaging jets. I love them too, but for me to get in the tub, I have to stand up, put my feet into the corner and turn my feet 90 degrees from each other, and then try to close the door. I have to lean back if I'm closing the door 'cause I can't sit down and close the door. My legs are above my knee or too long. Other than that, we love the tub. The sales representative was excellent then the installers were professional and neat.

My wife and I had been talking about a walk-in tub for quite a bit. After watching the Safe Step commercial and looking around, we made a few appointments. We sat down and listened to the sales guys, and then chose Safe Step. We had very good interactions with the sales rep. He explained the product and answered all our questions. And after we got the thing ordered, he had a follow-up call to see how it was doing. Then, two gentlemen showed up for installation. They had to take a couple of doors apart to get the tub in the house and into the bathroom, and then they did a fine job of putting everything back the way it was.

The gentlemen left a shower bar and a full-sized shower curtain to put up. When we try to put the curtain up so we could take a shower, it drapes down into the tub a whole lot and so I had to shorten it up. I would just recommend to the company that if they’re going to provide a shower curtain, which is very nice, that they ought to provide a shorter one, so that one can sit in the tub or take the shower and not have all that extra hanging down the floor to trip over. Other than that, everything is working good. My favorite features of the tub are the jets, colored lights, and the microbubbles. My wife enjoys the tub very much too. It is now definitely safer getting in and out of the tub and taking a shower.

I like the Safe Step quality so we used them over other companies, and the sales rep was very good. He explained a lot of things and also gave me his number if I had any issue. Then, the people who came to put the tub in were very, very good as well. When I have a problem, they would be the ones to come out and fix it and they were very good about it.

There are a few flaws in the tub and a few manufacturing difficulties with the drain and the plug. I've had to have the Safe Step people out a couple of times already to work on that and I don't like the way they handled having to have stuff fixed on the tub. When I called in, I don't like the idea that they tell me, "Well, you know, just pull the lug out and adjust the screw." They kept trying to want me to fix the issue over the phone and they hesitate on trying to do a work order to have somebody come out. They kept trying to push me to try to do it and I told them no. There's no way. I'm not mechanically inclined. If I'm calling and I have an issue, even if it's a little minor one, I want somebody out here to fix it. I pay good money for that and I believe I should get the service. Other than that, our Safe Step walk-in tub is all nice and I like all its features.

My husband and I talked to our children about getting a walk-in tub, and being old people, our kids said, "Now, they're the parent, we're the child." So, my husband did some research and channel nine just did a story on the top three walk-in bathtubs, and Safe Step was on the top. I made an appointment with all three companies to come and Safe Step came first. We were real impressed with the gentleman who came here. He was very good. He was really friendly and personable. He spent a lot of time with us answering all of our questions and he explained everything very well. He showed us our designs, the height and the width, the door, getting in. I had total hip replacement, so my bill is not really good, and we just canceled the other companies and just went with Safe Step.

The gentleman who came also told some funny stories about different people and buying tubs, then how we were thinking it was way too much, but we've talked about this for three years before we really just decided. There were two younger guys that came out and installed the tub. I was at work then, but my husband was here. Once they got it in, they called me. I came home to check and I had filled it up. They showed me how to work everything and they were very, very pleasant and well putting up with my husband who was hard of hearing, answering his questions, so I got here. They were very good and cleaned up really good after themselves.

A friend of mine got one, I don't know which brand. She told me us how much it costs, we thought, "We don't know if we could afford it," but at some point, we did. We put an amount on our savings account, and we got it, and paid cash for it, and were just thrilled to death. We've only had it a couple of months and so far, it has been wonderful as far as the jets and things for my back and my legs. I love our Safe Step Walk-In tub. I can't believe I've had so many years without it. I've already recommended them to a bunch of people.

I have only one issue with my Safe Step walk-in tub. When they installed it, they chipped the paint in three areas on my walls. I was recovering from my 10th spinal surgery and then I had complications so I had to leave and I just recently got back to my house. Had I been at home and not back in the hospital, I would have noticed that sooner. I'm not really happy about that and it would have been nice to be notified.

At any rate, I loved my Safe Step salesman and he was wonderful. When he showed me the features of the tub, he told me that once a month, I have to put one of those dishwasher little tablets in there and have it soaked through so it gets into the plumbing part of it. But I may have to put the jet streams on to that to make it filter through. That makes sense to me because how else would it circulate through there without that. I was trying to find about it in the book but I couldn’t find anything except a note on bubble baths.

Overall, I couldn’t be more thrilled as far as the aspects of the tub. For one, being able to walk in and have the stability of that is fantastic for me because I have a condition that’s not curable and I had 10 spinal surgeries. I love the jet stream or the jacuzzi aspect on my spine too. I also love the microburst where it makes my skin really soft. I could feel it on my skin and it’s unbelievable. It’s like a massage. Another thing I like are the lights. Watching the changing of the lights is very surreal and serene to me while sitting there. So, I love just about everything with the Safe Step tub itself.

You could see as soon as they got here and started unloading the truck, they knew exactly what to do. I do have one comment about the tub though. The microbubble feature, it’s supposed to be variable speed, and I don't see where changing that little dial over there on the right-hand side in front of the drawer does anything.

I can feel stuff coming out the hole where the microbubbles are supposed to be, but it can probably be increased a little bit. And I found out that when you want to use the jets, and you want to put it on your back, it’s pretty hard pounding on the back. So, what I do is I budge it and kinda move between the back and the foot. That way, it’s not as much pressure coming out the back. Other than that, my wife loves the tub, and I like the tub too. It does everything it’s supposed to do and the experience was fantastic.

I saw Safe Step on TV and we got a flyer in the mail. I’m 72 years old and I’m very active but I’ve seen older folks fall down and die from head injuries. I had fallen a couple of times and the shower that I had had no way for me to hold myself where I can wash my feet and my body while I was bathing. I had to be standing up but with the soap in my feet, it would be slippery and it was very dangerous for me. So, I needed to be able to secure myself. Then, when I saw that I could bathe and sit down, I said that this walk-in tub was what I wanted. I need it now but as I get older, I probably would be needing it more, so I got it.

I called the sales rep at Safe Step, and he came and showed us what we had. He asked if I had any questions and I said that by the time he got here, I have already made up my mind. My wife wanted different types of faucet and when they brought it in, he didn’t have it. So, we had to wait extra for the faucet to show up, and they finally installed the right faucet last Monday. So, everything right now, is the way I want it. I used to jump in the shower and I enjoy myself after I take the shower. But since having the walk-in tub, I enjoy myself while taking the shower as well as after. I take a shower everyday but I use the tub twice a week. I just sit there and that’s very relaxing for me. When I would shower, I would sit on the chair but I got all my floor wet all the time. It was like stepping out into a river and eventually, it started to decay my floor. I initially decided to just do my flooring but I was told that the flooring was all the way down to my tub. I figured to hold off on this and let me see about getting a new tub. This was when I saw a commercial about the walk-in tub, how you could walk in and it’s very easy to do that. Also, I just didn’t wanna destroy my floor again.

The Safe Step rep I had was very nice, knowledgeable, and friendly. The guy that came to sell me the tub measured everything. I told him that I was 300 pounds and asked if I was gonna fit in the tub. He assured me that I would. I told the sales guy that I wanted the biggest tub that they had in the company. The first time the installers came, it was horrible. It wasn't the installation part though. My daughter came in to check to see how I was and she saw the tub that was in the yard. She told me that I was not gonna sit in that tub. She helped me outside and the installer who was there said to try it before they installed it so I did. I got in the tub okay but I could not close the door because the tub was really small. It was not gonna work. It was not the tub I ordered.

I didn't accept the tub that was delivered in my yard. I was then told that another tub was gonna be more money. I told the guy I might as well cancel everything. What was I gonna do with a little tub that he was trying to install? The installer called the company and found out that they made a mistake. They sent me the wrong tub. It took two more weeks to get the right one.

It took me three months to get it because they only deliver on certain days. It wasn’t their fault, though. First, my flooring wasn’t completely done and it took a while to do the flooring. And when I needed them to come, I had to postpone it. I canceled once and they canceled once because they couldn’t make it. Other than that, the tub has been great. I love my tub but I don’t use the jets. I don’t fill my tub up to get a full bath. I just mainly sit there and I’d shower, stand up then sit. I don’t spend more than a minute and a half. I feel like if I took a hot bath, I would not be able to get out because I’m very weak.

Safe Step Walk-in Tubs was advertised on email and was offering a pretty estimate for cost for senior citizens. I have circulation problems in my legs, and I thought the walk-in tub would be helpful. The salesperson was excellent and the installation went very smoothly. In a matter of a few hours, the installers had it done. It was well explained and well installed. It was excellent. There was one bar for the wall beside the tub. Other than that, I didn't have any extra features and I didn't have a shower attached. The product is very satisfying on the whole.

I'm not a satisfied camper with Safe Step. The salesman screwed me over for $1000, and I was stupid enough to fall for it. He quoted me a price, and he left. And we called him back. He wrote it up for 1000 more than what he quoted. And, I didn't notice it. I just trusted him and it was a big mistake on my part. Thank god it was only $1000.

The installation process was easy-peasy. It went well and the installers were good people. I’ve had my tub for a month. I’ve used it once. It left a bad taste in my mouth. I talked to one of the vice presidents from Safe Step, and nothing was done about it. I never even got a phone call back. So, they don't care. Initially, I talked to a gal in the corporate office. And then, she referred me to the VP. But I’m thinking about seeing if I can get one of their competitors to take the Safe Step out and put theirs in without charging me.

I had heard Safe Step was a good tub. Their sales representative and installation team were good. The installer couldn't finish up with it because the water wouldn’t drain, and so I had to get another plumber. And it was in the P-trap. He had looked in the P-trap and he said that was clear, but possibly, something could’ve dropped in there, so I had to get another plumber. So, we really didn't get to finish up like we should’ve. I just had to wait to get another plumber, and they couldn't go through. And so, I’m gonna call to get them to come back to go through it and explain everything to me.

I’ve got that drain fixed, but then I found out that my water well does not produce enough water. I have a daughter living here, and if she showers, I can’t fill it. So, I’m in the process of trying to get a new water well dug to find out. I live in the country. So, I hadn't been able to use my tub like I would like to. But I like that I can sit in the water and I like the jets on my feet and legs. It’s not the same as being able to soak in a tub, so that’s really why I wanted to get it. I could get up out of a tub, but I’m just afraid to try it.

I will recommend Safe Step. I have an older sister that wants to come and look at it. I have a concern, though, that maybe she wouldn’t be able to get in and out of it because of the way that the door opens. I have a few concerns because I’ve had to learn how to get in and out of it. If they could put a handheld rail on the other side, that’ll help because you have to almost be sitting down to open the door. You can’t be standing up. And then when you open the door, one of the handheld things is hidden by the door.

We contracted with Safe Step to get a tub. Told the salesman it would be sometime in 2018 before we could be ready. Called us every couple of weeks in late 2017 to deliver product. Not listening. Spoke with regional manager 7/2018 to advise wife became seriously disabled and my health deteriorated also. Kept hope that wife would get better and myself also. Mgr. stated would call back 7/2019. Never did. Sent letter and email 8/2019 to company asking if deposit could be refunded due to disabilities and wife not being able to bathe in either tub or shower. Mgr told superiors he never offered refund option last year and they refused to return deposit.

Financially we were unable to continue with the contract and could not use the tub due to disabilities. Yes there was a contract, yes we agreed to get a tub. We were healthy at the time and could use it. They refused to return any portion of the deposit. Was it legal, yes. Was it the right thing to do, you decide. I tried to keep hope that wife would get better and kept in touch with them the entire time. Greed won out over understanding. They make lots of profit off these tubs but have no empathy for unexpected health problems developing. Bottom line with them is it's better to keep a deposit for cause rather than help the individual with financial problems due to medical expenses. You decide if this company is who you want to deal with. Very money oriented.

    Hi Ray,

I understand that there was multiple unfortunate events that required you to cancel on installing the tub. Unfortunately you cancelled after three days from when you ordered it. It is in our contracts that if a customer does not choose to move forward after the three day mark, that they will have to forfeit their deposit. This is in every contract with every customer, and every customer is made aware of this. We sympathize with your situation, but there is nothing we can do at this time. Please take care!

We’re getting old and safety factor in bathing is always present. We considered other tubs that are available of quality but the Safe Step salesman was good and knew the product. The installers were here all day ‘til 10 o’clock at night and didn’t give us a fair chance of evaluation of the product itself. They were respectful and knew their job but it was a long day for them. Fortunately, we live in a townhouse and have an extra bathroom, so we didn’t have to worry about interrupting them. I investigated later and saw that the crawl space from the bathroom was exposed. I didn’t like that because even though the basement is relatively sealed, bugs and stuff can find an equal way into the bathroom. Another thing is we’re from upper state New York and it gets cold here. The pipes are being exposed to a temperature that’s not good. I got ahold of someone and they claimed that they had put Styrofoam up in there and it must have fallen out.

The young man who did the original installation came back and did very well in addressing all the situations. He addressed the hole and filled it up. And with plywood, he built a bottom to it then he put foam insulation over it. It looks good and it’s functional. There’s been a discoloration of pink under the door and he didn’t know what would cause it. It’s gradually dissipating. He said that he’d just bring it to the people’s attention and see what it was. Also, he couldn't produce any leak of the fill tub but when I got up this morning, there was a little puddle of water around it. It’s a valve or something. Nothing big, but annoying. He explained how that faucet is put in there and that he couldn’t tell why it’s leaking ‘cause he drew water and couldn’t replicate it but we're satisfied. He’s a very good and capable person. The tub is beautiful as far as it does exactly what I expected and wanted.

The sales representatives at Safe Step were good. They were polite and knowledgeable. The installation experience was good. But the installers did a little more damage to the tile than I really liked. I've got to have some tile work done to repair. But that was part of taking out the surround around the other tub. So I didn't like the way it was left, but they told me they don't do tile repair. It's just that when I spend that much money, I would like a completed product. I got a tub that works, but it's not complete because I've got to go in and have the bathroom repaired now.

I had to have a guy come back out and recaulk the tub where they caulked it. What the installer put on didn't hold, so that was a little issue there. The other adjustment that had to be done was the selector where you select whether you want your jets on feet or back or both. It was not pointed correctly. The guy that came out and recaulked fixed that though. Other than that, the overall quality of the tub is very good.

I got a friend that has Safe Step and I went over and looked at hers. Plus I saw it on commercials on TV. I liked their reputation. The sales rep at Safe Step was a nice guy. I was wanting to put the tub in one spot in my house, and he did a lot of measuring. And we both talked about it and we decided we could put it there. But then when the installer came, he walked in and said, “Nope, won’t work. We can’t have it there.” He said it was against the code. So, there was a breakdown in communications there between the two of them. And even my sales rep took pictures and sent it to the installer before he ever got down here. But the tub ended up in a totally different room in the house, which is fine, but it’s not where I wanted it.

What the installer was gonna have to do was take a wall down, not a big wall, just one between the tub and the commode, and he was gonna have to move it an inch and a half. And he said that that would make my commode not be in code because there’s not enough room between those two walls, but it wasn’t in code to begin with. He said it had to be 36 inches, and it was like 28 inches. And then when we got through, it was gonna be 26 inches, which either one of them wasn’t in code to begin with. But it was taken care of. I like all of the features of my walk-in tub. I like where I can do my feet. I have jets in this tub, and I got hydrotherapy and got the shower. It’s good.

I like Safe Step's flier as well as the features of their tub. I went with them and their sales rep was outstanding. He was very informative and explicit about the elements of the tub. He was willing to negotiate the price too. All of the three workers who come to install the tub were wonderful an friendly. They walked me through the process of what they were doing, how they were gonna do it and the amount of time it would take. Thus far, I love all of the features of the tub and my experience in it is outstanding too. I would recommend Safe Step.

I'm waiting for Safe Step to call me right now. The tub has been installed for two weeks now and I have not been able to use it. First of all, it failed the plumbing inspection, so we had to wait for inspection, then they had to come back to re-inspect the plumbing to make sure that it is okay. And I've been waiting here for days and nobody is showing up and nobody is calling. And now, when I was all set to use it, I find that I can't lock the door. And I called them Friday and I talked to somebody and they said, “Can you hold on and I'm gonna transfer the call?” I waited on the phone for 30 minutes. I called back again on Saturday and they're supposed to call today and I haven't heard anything. So, I'm disgusted.

I looked Safe Step up because I'm very sore and I needed a walk-in tub. I looked up several different ones, and the guy from Safe Step came out. He was fantastic. The installation was fine. However, somebody was digging outside, and there was a shovel out there that he said was mine. I don't know where he got it, but there's dirt and stuff laying around out there. And I thought they were gonna come back and pick that up, but they haven't. I'm very uncomfortable. I can't do this stuff. My experience with Safe Step was very frustrating.

Safe Step had a coupon for savings. And our experience with their sales rep who was at our home was all right. He went through everything and he explained stuff. There was a $2,000 coupon, and then we got the military discount, and we got another discount. He was able to give all these discounts and that was what sold us. The installer was wonderful. He was on-spot, and I was so pleased with him. As far as our new bathtub, it's not putting out the aromatherapy. I put the aromatherapy in and I'm not smelling it. I did, the first couple of times. But overall, my experience with the tub is good. And if I can't sleep or something, I will get up and I will use it.

I'm very handicapped because of arthritis. I had a regular tub and to get in, I had to lift one leg to put it in and try to get up and in the tub. Once I was in there, I was absolutely terrified because my doctor is not happy with what I'm doing. I started washing my hair in the sink in the kitchen, soaping outside the tub, and getting in and out as fast as I could. It just got too much. It was getting somebody in here to talk to me. I couldn't do it that way anymore. I needed a walk-in tub and the Safe Step sales rep was fine and he did his job. However, he didn't give the installation team a fair picture of how long it would take and he told me it would just take a day. So, the installers and I anticipated they would be here one day but they were here until mid-evening the first night and after midnight on the second day. They crawled out of here because they had to rebuild the floor in there.

Now, I have an issue with the handle on the side that's supposed to lock because I can see a little leak running down. The idea of putting a massive amount of water, the water would probably hold it on, but I lift against it and it pops open. I don't even have to be going in, I might reach or hold on to the bar and it pops open and it shouldn't happen. It probably needs a five-second adjustment, but I'm here alone and I don't know what to do. Other than that, the installers were very good. They worked their butts off. When they here, there was no fooling around or nothing. Also, the tub looks really good. It serves the purpose.

The Safe Step walk-in tub has been wonderful. I had a bad experience in the shower and my wife did too, and we were afraid to bathe ourselves because of both our bad knees and backs. We tend to fall down and we also got arthritis and a lot of other physical and emotional problems. In fact, we were not taking baths as regularly as we should have been because we were afraid. But the walk-in tub has allowed us to be able to take a bath without fear. It built our confidence level. Besides the amenities that it offers, the faucet and the shower head are located at the perfect place where you can reach out and get them without having to get up. You can sit down and do everything. You can also stand and bathe your whole body. You can rinse your whole body first, lather it down and then rinse it again.

What I like about it too is that I can stand up inside of it and I don't feel afraid. The little grab bar up in the far left in front of the tub allows me to reach up and I also have a bar on the wall, on the right side of the tub. They are both put in special places that will allow us to grab hold of them and stand up. Stepping in and out of the tub is easy. When you wanna get into it, you open the door and then you can use the walls to sturdy yourself to step in and you get to reach that bar. On your way out, you can also use the walls as you step out of the tub. Then as I turn, I have the bars on the wall, outside of the tub. I have something to hold on to that's very sturdy. So it's a joy. I feel more confident that I can take a bath without hurting yourself.

During the installation, the workers were courteous. They did and finished the job, and they worked together as a unit, which you don't normally see. Each one had a responsibility for doing a certain thing and they did that. They also assisted each other. Also, the young man in charge was kind. He wanted to know what else he could do and he showed me things that I needed to do. The only problem is that my wife and I tend to forget things. People tell us things and when they tell us, we understand. But the moment they walk away, we forget everything they've told us. So I'm still finding it hard to operate the various things on the tub. I called and asked Safe Step to send me an owner's manual. I hope that in that manual, they explain how each of those things operate and how to master those little buttons. Nonetheless, the walk-in tub has been a lifesaver for me and my wife. I feel good about being able to take a bath and not being afraid.

I talked to one of the Safe Step representatives a year or so ago and then I talked to Jacuzzi. I had them come and talk to me and I liked the original agent better than the next one, so I contacted him. Also, a company that was more experienced in doing it a long time was important, too, and Safe Step had a good record. The tub had a whole bunch of extra things and stuff that would be good for me. I'm going 75 this next month and I have diabetes and a thyroid condition, so my skin is very dry, and I have a few concerns about the circulation of my feet and everything with the diabetes. Aaron, the sales rep, explained it to me and he went through step-by-step.

I had trouble with the installation because, originally, when it was to be installed, the man was sick. Then, I had a lot of troubles. I had back surgery and a procedure done, so I had to put it off. But when they did the installation, this young man came and he was with another guy that was older and they had all kinds of equipment. They had to tear out all the tile and the tub. The tile was a big ceramic tile and it was heavy. They picked it out and put it in their truck and took all the debris with them. It was a lot of work. They were very organized and were pleasant. They put down cover on the floor and they cleaned up well. Also, my dog liked them.

The tub is roomy. I don’t feel constricted in it and it fills up quickly and the water goes quickly. When it runs, the heater keeps the water warm. The first time I got in, I was sort of panicked because I couldn’t remember which one of these things turn the water off and I let a lot of water out, but we got it together. The second time was good. I'm very satisfied.

I had the bath installed two months ago and I wanted to get a glass curtain instead of the plastic curtain, and I called them. I got to talk to one person after trying several times and he said he was gonna look into it and with their servicemen in this district, but I never got a response. So, I called the salesperson that sold the tub to me and he said that he was glad that I let him know and he’s gonna try to get something done. It has been about a week and I still haven't heard anything yet. I haven't had a chance to soak in the tub except once but I’m satisfied with it. I’ve been using the overhead shower and I like it. Other than the tub doing what it advertised to do, I like all the features that it has got on it such as the jets, the lights and stuff like that.

But then when their installers brought it in, they hit my overhead fan and didn't put it back right. The electrician had it off so he could hook up the electrical part. He had to run a new line, and it didn't go back right. I went to open my cabinet and it banged that thing at the top which broke loose. Usually, it's just a snap in cover, and it wouldn't snap back in. So, I got a handyman coming in who may be able to fix it. If he doesn't I will have to call back Safe Step. Despite this issue, I'm gonna promote Safe Step if I can. I'm gonna send my sister the brochure as maybe she may want one.

I got advertisements in the mail from Safe Step several times and I looked at it. They offered a free shower for the installation which was why I went with it. The sales rep was great and he explained everything. The installation went very quickly and I was shown everything on it. The team was very reliable. They cleaned up their mess and took everything away, didn’t leave any scraps, and they were very efficient. I like the tub best where I can sit down and then soak in it. I love to take a bath, but sometimes I like to take a shower and rinse off, and it has that capacity, too. So, I really enjoy it. However, after I empty the tub and get out, I could hear it roaring again a few minutes later and I want to know why. I don’t put any oils in there and I hadn’t put in Epsom salt but sometimes, you need to soak in Epsom salt, so I didn’t know if you could use it or not. But it seemed like it would be alright.

The salesman from Safe Step Walk-in Tubs told me that the headrest came with the tub, which was one of the reasons why I bought it. After the tub was installed, I asked what happened with the headrest and the remote control because I didn’t get any of that. So, they mailed me this little piece of material and it looked like it had angel hair inside with two suction cups on it. The lady told me to put it on the wall. I asked her if she realized how much room there was between our wall in the back of the tub and if you put it on the base, it’s so low, it’s doesn’t even reach your shoulders. I told her I can’t use this thing and the headrest that the salesman told me about had the rise on either side and you could raise and lower it. Then she told me they no longer had those. It was discontinued. I should have been told that before I purchased it because I bought it under the assumption that those came with the tub.

I told her that if I can’t get the headrest, then they should come back and take this tub out because they breached the contract. I didn’t get what I signed up for. So, they can take it out then put another bathtub back in here, the way it was in the beginning. Also, the craftsmanship of the Safe Step walk-in tub was terrible. When the installers tore out the tub from upstairs, they put a little piece of plastic over the sink and some on the floor but they didn’t secure it. When that stuff started coming down from the second floor to the basement, it knocked that little plastic off and our basement, the sink and bathroom down in the basement was cluttered with all kinds of debris but they have cleaned that up.

The installers smeared caulk all over the inside and outside of the tub, and the caulk looked like it was breaking up the next day. You can see the cracks and you can see how it was bubbling up and everything. So, they said they were gonna send somebody out. I told them not to send the same people that did this job because they did a terrible job. She said they would send someone else. The same guy showed up and he went in and tried to re-caulk it. It was a little better than what it was at first, but it was still terrible. He didn’t clean up and I don’t know how to remove the caulk from off the tub without damaging it.

There was caulk all over the front. I got that off as best I could, even the controller inside the tub even had caulk inside of that when you turn on the heater and the water. That’s how it got caulk in it as well as the headrest, and the tub was dirty. They just left me with a mess and I have caulk on the walls. You just look at it and you can tell it was unprofessional. I would not recommend Safe Step to anybody. I told the lady that if I don’t get the headrest that was demonstrated to me, I’m gonna go on social media and let the whole world know, contact the AARP and let them know exactly what’s going on with their company so that they will not continue to advertise in their magazine. I’m so disgusted that I’ve only used the tub one time. I’m very dissatisfied with Safe Step.

Safe Step lied to me. My husband had Alzheimer’s and dementia so he was on a walker. He was in a really bad shape. He was bed-bound for about three months and he was getting boils on his butt. I said I might be interested in the walk-in tub but when the guy from Safe Step came out, he just had brochures so I had no idea how big it was. I didn't know if my husband was gonna fit. I told him that I was impressed with what his brochures said but I also had appointments with other people. But he said that he would sell it to me for $2,000 less if I would sign on the dotted line right then.

My husband is 6'3" and 220 lbs., and the guy said that was what he was and he could walk around that thing all day long. He said my husband was not gonna have any trouble. When I asked what if he does have trouble, he said they would make it right. Then I said I would have to have it put in immediately because my husband was getting worse. We had caregivers coming in, strangers getting him down naked and flipping him around, and he hated it. The rep said they could expedite it, put us above everybody else and put the tub in immediately.

But it took him 21 days to put the tub in. Then when my husband got in it, he couldn’t even get out of it. It was so small. He couldn’t use it at all and I paid $16,000 for this thing. And of course, they waited 21 days so that the timing for me to say it wasn’t gonna work had totally run out. I called the guy back and told him it doesn’t work. He told me not to worry, that they have a bigger one, that they could take this one without any problem for me, and that it wouldn't cost me a thing. But I couldn’t get him to call me back and it just went on and on. My husband's demeanor was just going way down. Finally, the guy called me and this was like four weeks later. He asked if the bigger tub was ever put in and I said it hadn't. He said he would check on it for me. But I told him there was no need to do it. My husband had died on Mother's Day.

I know the tub would’ve made a difference if we’d had the right thing in here and he said, “I know it would have too.” He said that he was so upset then he said he would look into it and call me back within 24 hours. But he never called me back. I even tried to call him back. He was really nice but he lied to me and Safe Step never made it right. Also, when he was doing the paperwork, my husband was falling asleep in the chair and I said I had to get him to bed but the guy kept going and going, asking me to sign here and there and do this and that. I just wanted to get him out of the house. I didn't wanna be rude but my husband needed to go to bed.

I’ve also talked to other people. There was another guy who called me last Friday to ask what they could do. I told him I could hardly even go in there. They had put a $1,000 lien on my house. I couldn't believe that. He said that it was $8 a day and interest. But I told him I was not paying a penny for the tub and they should come back and get it. But he was saying they couldn't take it out because then they would have to put it in a landfill. I told him I don't really wanna get ugly with this. I don't wanna go to Channel 5 News and embarrass them to death. I don't wanna go the lawyer way either and I don't want this lien on my house.

Another thing is that my husband had died so my income had gone downhill and I can't really afford this. He asked what I could afford. I said the most I could probably come up with was $5,000. He said he would call me in an hour but he never called me back. So I don't know what to think. Plus when I signed the paperwork, I thought that Safe Step was gonna be the ones doing it. But after six days, I found out that they sold the paper to this other thing called Aqua whatever. I thought that was why they have the AAA rating. They don’t play fair. My husband was 86 and I’m 71. We’re seniors. I would’ve done anything for my husband just to keep him alive. But they took us to the cleaners. Now, I don’t know who to call. I don’t know who to talk to.

I guess they think my parents are tub installers and should be able to figure it out for themselves. Back to customer service... where they are now getting a runaround. They were told today a stopper kit was "being ordered" and they would be informed when it arrived. I won't be holding my breath. Or recommending this company to anyone else.

But I didn't exactly get the tub that I ordered. The rep measured and ordered a big tub but it wouldn't go through the bathroom the way it was supposed to. The installation team told me that they would have to cut so much into the wall because they didn't know how the rep measured it. In the end, they had to bring another tub.

The installer was good. He told me and my husband that the door opens to the outside, not to the inside. But it opens to the inside. He told us that sometimes people's legs get in the way and that's why they had the door go to the inside. That's why he had to change all the faucet to the other side of the wall because if it opened up to the outside, it would it the toilet. If it opened to the inside, it wouldn't hit the toilet anywere. I use the tub once a week and I love the aroma and the massaging I get from the jets.

Hi Veronica, I'm so sorry to hear of your experience! That is very strange, as the safety specialist is required to take measurements to ensure that you order the correct tub that works best for you and your space. Thank you for making us aware of this issue, and if you have any concerns or questions, please call our customer service department. I'm glad to hear you received another tub, but I apologize for the miscommunication and confusion. Hope you and your husband are enjoying the tub!

When I was looking for walk-in tubs, I contacted different providers but they never responded. But when I talked to the Safe Step reps, they were wonderful. They took the time out to ask me if I had any questions. They took a look at my bathroom and they knew what I had. When the workers came to install my tub, they asked if I was told that I could get the shower head and that it could come in different colors. I said, "No they didn't. They never mentioned it". The installer said that because everything was color coordinated, putting a tub in chrome was gonna stand out like a sore thumb and I didn't want that. So they didn't install it on the day they were supposed to because we changed it back to the original hardware that I had in my bathroom. That was the only thing that I did not like but other than that, it was wonderful. I love the quality of my Safe Step walk-in tub.

So she's able to use the tub for bath and not have to worry about stepping over. We have a molded in place that we had installed when we built our home and she had trouble getting in and out of that. But with the walk-in tub, she doesn't have that trouble now. She's happy with it.

We received good service on it, but we feel it was overpriced. Their sales rep was very aggressive. I told him I wanted to check around and call back. But he made the opposite expression and hurried it up. Then we just went ahead and got it because he was so persistent. But the installers were great. They did the job most of the day and they were so nice and friendly.

This company's product is made and designed in this country. It’s also by private ownership and it is a big conglomerate. How I heard about SafeStep was that I had received several notices that there was such a thing. At the time, I wasn’t interested in it because I had something else I was using. But finally, I found it necessary to have a built-in tub because it was too hard to get in and out or even to sit on the seat that I had there. I couldn't take a shower because I couldn't stand.

I also investigated a couple of companies but I like Safe Step because they were no-nonsense about anything. The man came out, showed us all the things and went through the whole thing. We developed a rapport with the salesperson right away. He also told me the different things that they discounted because I didn’t want a shower and this and that. It came down quite a bit and we went ahead and got it. We thought it would be really nice and I like it. It’s very good. It has the jets, which is great. One of its best features is that it empties out very fast. When you fill it and it goes all the way up where you would use all the different jets, it has a thing that says don’t fill beyond this particular place so I don’t. When I let the water out afterwards, it's surprisingly fast. It even went faster than my sink.

When the people had come to install the tub, they found out that the tub that was coming was smaller than the space. They decided to take it back and get the next size to fill in the space. And there was no added charge. The installation was also a little noisy and messy but they pretty much cleaned up everything after themselves. Plus they were very cordial and nice. They answered any questions that we had so they were very good.

After she left and we had made one decision, we decided to move where we wanted it, and we had to do some construction of our own. So, we had the tub drop shipped to us and had local plumbers to install it. The whole process was very smooth. The man that came to deliver gave us a lot of information that was very helpful. I had fallen several times and the doctor said I better do something or I'm gonna fall and break a hip. My foot drops when getting in and out of the tub. I called American Standard but they weren't very nice on the phone. It just turned me away. Then, I called Safe Step and we set up an appointment. The rep was very nice and not overburdening. He had been an installer for Safe Step so he knew the process. He answered a lot of questions that we had and he was very knowledgeable. He was here for three hours but it wasn't boring at any point. The time went fast. He had a movie to show and he talked like a normal person, not like a salesman. Before he left, we bought the walk-in tub. Then the installer came and our experience with them went surprisingly well. It took him two days as he had to tear out some drywall and the doorframe and when he was done, he had fixed everything that I couldn't tell it.

The only thing I was unhappy about was I had to get another contractor to do a small item. It was only $80 on my part so not a big deal. When the tub was installed and I was looking at it between the floor and the tub, there was an inch gap to the far left and an inch and a half on the right. My cat kept trying to stick her paw under there. Also, I wash my hair without getting in the tub. I used to kneel down on the tub to wash my hair instead of using the sink. My toes would go under it and I didn't like it. So I had my bathroom redone last year and a fellow made a frame for me and put it around my mirror. I called a contractor and he said, "Yeah, give me a couple weeks. I'll work it in." He had the frame all painted white and it's perfect. It looks like it's part of the tub. It goes all the way to the floor and I don't have that gap anymore.

When I use the walk-in tub, I just go in, shut the door and turn it on. Their tub is different than the American Standard because it has the bar that goes up to the top and it has a rain shower on it. The handheld shower slides up and down this bar to put it anywhere I want - from the height of the tub to over 7 feet tall. So I can sit down in the seat, slide that handheld down, wash my hair and take my shower.

Knowing that the risk of falling has gone away totally, it's nice. It was a lot of money though but it had been so good to use. Also, my wife is a lot younger than me so she doesn't need a sit-down situation for a shower. But with the rain shower head, the way it's constructed and the features, she absolutely loves the tub. Also, we let the water come completely up and turn on the jets and it's really nice. It helps with the aches and pains such as arthritis in my knee, my ankle and it also helps my back. I don't have to use it as an old people tub. I can use it as a stand-up shower and it's fine.

My brother-in-law and my sister are both 86 years old. The walk-in tub has been very beneficial for them because my sister had fallen and broken her femur. She has a hard time getting around and she could not get in and out of the old tubs, so the walk-in tub works quite well for her. And she likes the heated seat. My husband dealt mostly with the Safe Step rep. He was very thorough on what he told my husband and my brother-in-law at that time and he knew what he was doing.

The installers were very nice. They were supposed to put everything exactly as it was, which they did, except for cutting a small piece of molding that went from the tub to the countertop itself. I've contacted them before about it and when the guy called me, he said, “If you wouldn’t mind, it’s just a matter of a few minutes, I’ll call you one day next week and go ahead and have somebody come out. And me or my partner will come out and take care of that for you.” But they still have not contacted me or done it. I ended up just taking a piece of molding and putting it behind the toilet until they come out. But other than that, it was fine.

Safe Step is the only one that’s truly made in the United States. It’s a much heavier product and it had a true shower with it as well as aromatherapy. My wife has COPD so when she gets in the tub and soaks in, we’re able to put in eucalyptus or lemon, which opens up her breathing passages. Also, the tub has its own lights in it, so we don’t have to have the lights on in the bathroom. The lights are part of a science called Chromatherapy. She also has trouble sleeping at night, so I have her bathe in blue light and green because green fights insomnia, as well as lavender. The tub also has Microsoothe jets that other companies don't have. That actually goes into the pores and eliminates toxins and acids that create arthritis and pain. It does a total cleansing system all over the body.

We use it more or less three nights in a row and our skin feels 20 years younger. It’s just incredible. What’s really cool is like in the morning when I take a shower, I keep the drain closed and when the water gets to about 8 in or so, I can still use the part of the tub and flip on the foot jets and the leg jets. My feet, toes, the back of my calfs, and my legs are being massaged as I’m taking a shower. I just rub my feet on the surface of the bottom of the floor because it’s a real no-skid surface. My feet are going numb and the stimulation from the massaging causes the circulation in my feet to increase. It puts oxygen into our body so that is knocking that numbness and tingling at my feet just taking a shower. What I’ve been finding, I never stayed in the shower that long. It feels so good.

They say the doctors tell us that if you soak in a Microsoothe for 5 mins it's equal to a one-hour massage. I soak in the Microsoothe for half-hour a night and I feel like Gumby on coil loops coming out of that thing. Also, my feet are starting to get like girly feet so clearly, I’m gonna get out of there and my toenails look like I had a pedicure from that two-hour. It’s unbelievable. And they do things like having a towel bar right on the door. I don’t even have to reach out for it. It’s right there on the outside the door. The guy that owns the company took a look of thought into that tub. There’s a few things I might change a little but it’s well thought out. Since having the tub, an enormous amount of the energy level has boosted in me tremendously.

From start to finish, their customer service is the most professional group of people I’ve ever dealt with in my life. The installation people, the sales, the company itself – I had some questions – they’re fantastic and right on down the line. The pricing’s better as well and Safe Step also gives a lifetime guarantee on everything so if something happens to me, I ain’t got a worry about somebody coming to fix it. They also make their own stuff so it ain’t like they hire Bob and Bobby Joe from around the corner to put the tub in. The guys who do the work are trained by them.

My husband has some hip issues that get a lot of pain shots in it because it's so painful. I thought that a walk-in tub might help with the therapy on his hip. I went online and I've seen the advertisements in different magazines 'cause I have AARP membership. I looked at American Standard. I looked at a Jacuzzi brand. Then, I looked at the Safe Step and it is recommended by AARP and Arthritis Society so I decided to go with that one and they were offering a senior discount.

The sales representative explained and was patient with my husband and me. She was here almost two and a half hours showing us everything in the brochure and doing the paperwork. She was wonderful and I thought she did a good job representing the tub. The guys that came out to do the install were very professional and they put a mask on the floor to keep the dirt down. Needless to say, they had to cut my existing tub and shower enclosure in pieces to get it out of that small area to the opening. I had a lot of sawdust-like white crap everywhere after they left. It's all through the house.

But they cleaned up the floor itself, swept it and put a decent thing. However, that stuff went through all the air conditioning because the AC was blowing. I knew that I've had some cleanup because there was no way they could catch all that and go all through the house and dust the furniture. They were very careful with everything 'cause we had wood. My husband had custom made this bathroom and put a wood ceiling in it where the tub enclosure was and down the wall. The installers made sure that none of that got damaged and they put the tub in and everything was great there. It's just after they left, I realized that the door wasn't straight because it doesn't shut enough and that should have some privacy at least.

I'm not happy with the way they left my wall that they put a socket in. They cut the hole too big and the plate doesn't fit. I'm also not happy where they left my door casing. They had to take that down in the door to get the tub into the bathroom. It's such a small area. When they put it back in, they didn't put it in straight and it's locked at the top sticking out. The guy is supposed to come back with a plate to cover the mess, but he hasn't so I called the main office and they're supposed to be sending somebody out the next day.

I'm also not happy with the seat not being fully heated and the back heated. The second thing in the brochure says that the back and seat of the tub are heated. Only half of the seat heats and the man told us that's all it's supposed to do. My husband got upset and said that he wanted both cheeks warm, not just one cheek. They're gonna look into that when they come tomorrow as well. These are little minor issues and I don't like it because I figured I paid a lot of money for this thing. Other than that, the tub works good as far as the therapy part. The massage and that kind of stuff is great. The jets for the seat doing all that was is wonderful. I didn't go with the cheap one, as I could have got one from Home Depot. But the tub is excellent and wonderful.

My wife had a neck and back surgery. She couldn’t get into the normal conventional tub, so I got a Safe Step for her, which was number one in comparison on the net. It was a good experience all the way around, from the sales guy to installers. But when they had the tub installed, they figured out they got the wrong size. The salesperson said it would fit right to the door but it didn't. The installers had to open up the whole wall to get the tub in which they didn't say. It was a different size from what I had purchased. So, they gave me a $750 refund for tearing up my wall.

Having the Safe Step tub is like day and night versus trying to get into a normal conventional bathtub, plus the jets and everything. It helps my wife's back, knees, and ankles because she had a knee replacement as well. Also, what I really like is it's like a turnkey thing. The factory/installer is one person. That’s a lot of help versus buying a product and getting a private contractor to do the work. Safe Step did everything from manufacturing to delivery to installation. If you're gonna get a walk-in tub, go with them.

I'm a fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers and Terry Bradshaw. He is a very funny guy. When I saw that Safe Step had that shower thing going and he was so happy in that tub, I took a look at it. So it was a Terry Bradshaw thing that fired us up. I got everything except the football. We're enjoying the tub very much. We are happy that we got it.

The sales rep that we dealt with was very polite and she wasn't too pushy. She let me digest the full presentation. At the end of the day, I called her back and placed the order. She was very knowledgeable about the product, and really went into the hardware of it. It took the installation crew a couple of days to put it in. Chris was the guy in-charge, and he was such a polite individual. I was there during the installation and he was concerned about my being comfortable the whole time. They completely redid the bathroom and they made it perfect. The quality is perfect. I really enjoy it. It is a very small bathroom but it works good because there are no steps. It is a straight walk to the tub and it is easy to walk in. We're glad we got that shower thing. It was a really good experience.

The VA recommends Safe Step, and I’m a veteran and I’m 100% disabled. The sales rep was great. He explained everything right and we had no questions when he left. And then when the installation guys came to put the tub in, they did a good job. They didn’t make a mess, cleaned up, took the old tub out, set it outside for us, and my neighbors got tomatoes growing in it now.

We like everything about the tub. My wife got in the other night and put the micro bubbles on, and the top of the water was like white. And she says, “Man, I hope that ain’t all my skin!” And it was because she’s been in the hospital. My skin's dry and flaky, so I gotta get in it too. The only thing I don’t understand is the scent stuff. I put the drops in, but nothing comes out and we don’t smell anything. Other than that, the jets are all fine. I didn’t get it filled full enough the other day when my wife was in it. We turned that on, and we had water going everywhere. But that was our fault. We gotta make sure we got the jets covered up.

Shane came out and presented what he had. He was a good salesman. The people that came out and did the installation were courteous. They were good guys. But I think they installed the shelf on the back of the tub too low because that collects a lot of water. It collects a good quarter to a half of water during shower, so that you have to wash that off. That back shelf should be raised so that it is little bit higher than the shelf of the tub itself so that the water would fall back into the tub rather than sit there and collect. They also missed a little caulking at the top, but overall, they did a good job.

Shane did a good job presenting the Safe Step tub. But there were some things left out that could have been explained better or could have been better with a demonstration tub because I'm not happy with the tub at all. The only reason it is in the house is for my wife's safety. She's 85 years old, and she didn't feel safe in the shower that we have. So, we bought the Safe Step tub for her to feel safe in, and she feels safe in it. The tub has only been filled up twice in the 10 to 15 days that we've had it. I find it to be a totally unsatisfactory experience because I prefer showers to tubs.

The step from the tub down to the floor is a pretty long step. It is disconcerting because the floor of the tub is higher than the floor you're stepping down onto. So you're not prepared for that longer step. I have to help my wife out of the tub each time she is in because if I don't, she's gonna fall down just getting out of the tub. It is an unsafe step. I think the door opens in the wrong direction. Once you get in the tub, you have to go all the way to the back in order to close the tub. My wife only weighs about 130 pounds and I'm a 190 pounds, but I still have to go all they way to the back of the tub to be able to open and close the door. Also, the shower is rigged up, and even the hand held and the rail showers are totally as unsatisfactory as far as showers are concerned. I'm not really happy with the tub, but I'm gonna live with it because I bought it and paid for it in check.

I called Safe Step and had them come out. After the presentation, I didn't need to talk to anybody else. I knew this was the one I wanted. I had a soaker tub and I slipped and fell and hurt myself a few weeks before. My husband and I were talking and we decided that a Safe Step tub might keep us home longer. As we get older, having a tub like this might keep us in our home before going to an assisted living because we would be able to take a bath without falling. The installers came out and they were wonderful. They came at 10:30 and were gone at 5:00. They had to take out the old tub and the surround around it. I thought I was gonna have to hire somebody to paint after they leave because I thought they would tear out something and I would have to replace it. But they did not make a mess whatsoever and they did a perfect job.

I love the tub and the jets and we're enjoying it. We keep saying it's the best thing we ever did. I like the handheld shower and that it has the essential oils. And it's like a piece of architecture. It's beautiful and I'm happy to have it. Everything worked out and it's very easy to clean. We live in a retirement community and I've been showing the tub to my friends and neighbors. A lot of them have come over to see it and I'm hoping somebody will want one.

I saw one particular model of Safe Step Walk-in Tub on TV and I liked the showerhead. Then the person that came to the house explained everything and showed a couple of videos. The installation team was excellent and I had no complaints with them. The guy did a top-notch job. I'm very mechanical myself so I know what to look for and do. But I kinda trusted without having to worry about what they were doing. My biggest fear is to have somebody put the tub in that wasn’t good so I stayed home through the whole process to make sure that they did the right job, but I didn’t even have to watch them. They were right on it. Things that I thought I would be complaining about, they took care of before I could say anything so it was a smooth thing.

I liked that I can slide the showerhead up and down and also have a shower with it like a regular shower 'cause I didn’t want just a regular tub. The only complaint that we have is the jets. We don’t think they're strong enough. But other than that, I love everything in it as well as the microbubbles. I've been looking at walk-in tubs for a while. I'm not that old and I'm not dire in need of one. I wanted it for a different purpose, just something to relax. It's nice to have a tub that can get in and not lay down in. A lot of days, I look forward to go home and use it.

Definitely baths are better than showers in a lot of ways. I enjoy it. My grandson really loved it too. He had a ball in it like a mini pool for him. It's perfect for him. It's everything I thought it would be. I was a little leery about my hot water heater in the beginning, but I turned it up and it seemed to be fine. It seems to be just perfect for what I have. I didn’t have to change anything on that and we have really good water pressure where we're at so that worked out.

I was only 57 and I couldn’t safely get in and out of the tub I had. So I needed to replace it with something. I liked Safe Step's cost and their salesman was very good. He explained everything and I decided to buy from them. The installers were also efficient. I replaced an old two-person Jacuzzi tub and they came in with their saw drill and chopped it up in little pieces, which took within an hour. They got both tubs done in a couple of hours and they did a very good job.

So far, I've used my Safe Step a couple of times and I like the back jets. But I don’t think it has enough jets. The foot jets are pretty much useless and the other ones in the back that kinda hit my calf don’t do any good for me because when I’m sitting, I kinda float, so my feet go to the front and those two jets coming out of the front work good on the bottom of my feet. But then, the jets that would normally hit my calves are just pushing water and by the time they hit my calves, there’s no real benefit.

I liked what Safe Step had to say, and the man who came out and spoke to us, Tony, was very knowledgeable and excellent as far as being able to answer our questions. And we had talked to other people before about having a tub put in and we weren’t really impressed with their ability to answer the questions. The Safe Step guy was really fantastic, and he’s been amazing even since the installation. He didn’t give us a lot of information I didn’t need or didn’t want. So, I’m very glad that we went with Safe Step.

The installation team was phenomenal. They came, they explained, they did everything, and I’ve been so happy with it. My Safe Step is the best investment I’ve ever made. And even now that it’s in, the Safe Step team is still available if I have questions. And you don’t know all the things you don’t know until after they’re gone, and you’re left with the tub, and now, you’re trying to figure it all out, but they’ve been there and answered questions. And so, I’m very happy with Safe Step. They did a great job.

I really like everything about my Safe Step tub. The installers did it to perfection. They made it look perfect like it was there forever. And they finished off the walls so that everything flows. It doesn’t look like it wasn’t there when we put the bathroom in. I’ve had several fractures. I was in a car accident, and I needed to have something that I could get into to take a bath. And that was the only thing that I really could do - bath or a shower. And I don’t like a shower, so I went for the tub, and I’m glad I did. I hope somebody gets it done too because it’s the best investment you could make.

I was impressed with Safe Step's sales rep. Unfortunately, I swallowed everything he said, so it didn't all pan out. I thought that the tub was going to be bigger than it was and that I would have more room to move around. He also implied that I would never have to clean the tub and that it cleaned itself. But those are not true. He talked about the exfoliation of the skin as a big thing but that's not true either. Also, I have to sit down in order to close the door and I should be able to close the door without sitting. But if I stand, the door edge scrapes my abdomen. So they need to take their design into consideration there. But it is a wonderful tub, if you want to sit down in the water, which I couldn't do before for 10 years, and wait for 20 minutes for the tub to fill up to my waist. That isn't the fault of the tub though. My water pressure is not grand, but I don't know what to do about that except to have a new pump to put on the water.

Other than that, everything else seemed to be in order. The installer was very nice. He had his son and a helper with him and they were all very polite, well-mannered and clean in themselves. And I appreciated their courtesy. He also did a very good job except for cleaning up. I had dust and pieces of the tiny particles of glass from the porcelain all over the bathroom after he left. But I'm not very well visioned, so I didn't find it until I came upon it accidentally and I had to clean the walls of the bathroom because of the extreme dust. Also, I had a cast-iron tub and I thought that he would saw it up or somehow break it up more gently than they did. But he pounded it apart with a sledgehammer and that was where all the dust came from. Had I known that was going to be the case, I would have run some plastic around. He said he was going to clean it up but he didn't do it well.

Despite that, I like my Safe Step tub well enough. I have to remind myself that spending $14,000 was worth it and not to worry about how far down my savings it took me in order to be able to get into the water to take a shower with more safety. Also, their 100% guarantee on the product and the labor for any problems that might come up for the life of the house and the tub is very significant because it has a lot of electronics involved in it.

I had a Premiere bathtub when I broke my neck in 2002 which I spent just as much money on. They went out of business and then I had no parts for the tub. I broke my neck at work and now my low back is fused. I fell on the operating room and just had surgery in Los Angeles. The thoracic spine went from a 97% curve in 2013 to a 90% curve now, so I have rib pain constantly, and I had to do the low back because L45 was going into the disc, it went into the spinal cord and the nerve sac, so my legs would buckle. Safe Step is something that I really need because the neck is fixed but I get migraines. This is a medical necessity.

I spoke to my CPA and asked if I can write this off as a medical thing and he said, “Yeah.” It was $15,900 which my broker nearly had a stroke. I said that if I go into assisted living, it's $6,000 every month. In three months, the tub’s paid for. The salesperson worked with me and he gave me the package. They were trying to figure out to get me cleared for surgery so we had to postpone the installation. It took a long time to clear me after surgery but they were very fine and worked things out with me.

I have used the shower every day and it’s wonderful. I gave my cleaning lady instructions not to use anything abrasive on this tub so it’s working great for me. I like the low threshold and the rain shower. I can’t wait to get into it and put the bells and whistles on and see what happens. I haven’t been able to actually take the bath yet because I’m flying to Los Angeles on May 29th to have X-Rays, trying to see how the metal is sitting, and he didn’t want me sitting in the water until he looks at the incision. I’m really mad at the doctors getting me dependent on drugs so my plan is gonna be four to six months in the brace and I want off of everything after that. I’m gonna have to learn how to deal with the pain without drugs and getting in one of the tub is one of them.

I was trying to get ahold with Butler Construction who put it in because they left a piece of equipment here. The guy, Zack, left some kind of an expensive electronic foot pedal machinery. I have been calling them, but I’m not getting an answer back. The other thing I can do is call the salesperson and tell her that I have this piece of equipment. I also had trouble getting ahold of the tile guy to put the grout back in. The tiles are taped-up with blue tape right now. I thought that was weird for a construction company. I have the grout and asked them about it and they were not allowed to do it. If they’re gonna do an installation, they should do the whole thing and never leave me with tiles with blue tapes. It was several years ago so now I’m gonna have to find somebody to put it in. Overall, I’m just happy to have the tub.

It would be easier for her to get in and out of it and there are safety handles. She finally gave in, so we got it. The Safe Step rep was very friendly, and answered every question I asked. I’ve got a lot of discounts because Dennis was a veteran.

The installers were very good. They covered my floors with drapes, and they also covered the toilet and my sink area so they wouldn’t get the dust. I kept the bottom part of the tub, but they cut off the wall for me and they took that out. You wouldn’t even know they were there. The only thing is when they took the frame off the door and had put it back, they had put putty around the edges, and now, I have to go around and paint.

When my mother puts water in the tub, she has to put the handle all the way down. She didn’t do it the first time, and we had a flood. We used every towel in that bathroom. But I told her that the handle has to go all the way down so it’s straight. It can’t be on an angle. She’s 93 and she doesn’t have that much strength, but she’s got it now where she can get it put down and it’s okay. She also uses the shower part of it. I could get in and get out of my Jacuzzi garden tub but I couldn’t get myself up. So then, I tried the regular tub, the guestroom tub, and I couldn’t get in or out of that. I knew that I had to do something which was investigating Kohler, Safe Step, and American Standard. I did not go into the American Standard sales pitch, per se. I had listened to Kohler, seeing what they had to offer. They were extremely expensive although it seemed like they were top-of-the-line. Then I listened to Safe Step and quite frankly, I was getting pretty anxious to be able to take a bath so I just decided on the Safe Step.

The Safe Step sales rep was very good, personable, and had knowledge of his product. The only thing was that I did not appreciate the fact that the salespeople knocked on each other's companies. I think they could have gotten my attention without doing that. I also found out that I was lied to by the Kohler’s salesperson so that got me a little angry. I was formerly a Realtor and there are certain ethical guidelines. You don’t cross those guidelines and that’s what I look for. I realized sometimes you have to badmouth but I didn’t in my profession. One should be able to succeed on his own merits. But that’s the way it goes.

The installation people were great, quick, and thus far, I found no problems. The only thing I found was that at the end they had not told me they were going to fill the tub. I found that it was full when they left because they said it had to sit for 24 hours. I wish I had known that prior to them leaving. However, they were very professional and did their job.

I like the hydrotherapy which is what I needed desperately for my osteoarthritis, but I would like to see more jets after the fact that I saw the America Standard jets. I liked the way they're better situated but that’s neither here not there. They all have their own style with the easiness of getting in and out. Everything works as they said it would so I'm just enjoying being able to take a bath again.

I would have liked to have had something in writing describing how each of the faucets work. They gave me something for the tub that plugs on to it but it's not enough detail as I would have liked. Like a user’s manual that's more detail such as the lever to control the showerhead or the height of the showerhead. I haven't found anything that tells me whether that lever goes up or down. Also, how to clean it, they said it real quick. I didn’t have a pen and paper with me when they were telling me so I have to call them about that.

Everyone should investigate all projects and then make their own decisions. This type of investment is very expensive considering how long you will use it, considering that it's towards the end of life. I would encourage people to check everything out very carefully and don’t make a decision basically at that particular meeting because all the salespeople say, “We have a price today, but it's only good for today,” just like a car salesman, so to speak.

It was a little more expensive than what we originally thought but comparable with the market. Our interaction with their installation team was really enjoyable as well. They were very professional and they got here a little late but there was a scheduling conflict. Besides that, they cleaned after themselves and explained everything that they were doing when needed to be explained.

We have a family member that right now who is recovering from an operation and because of the bathtub, she is able to feel more confident about taking a shower without any kind of injuries. We also like the fact that it has a seat where she can sit on, that it has a locking mechanism so that the water doesn’t spill out anywhere, and the adjustable shower head.

The sales rep from Safe Step came in upon our request and gave us the information. We decided to go ahead with the purchase under consideration, and a couple of days later, we decided that we wanted to do the purchase. We liked the product's features, quality and price range. Everything moved forward from there and everything went as scheduled. I got an initial call to set up the date of the installation and they called me when they were about two hours away. They came in on time and took two days to do the job. They did it very nicely, cleanly and efficiently. They set up the tub and gave us the instructions, and they went on their way.

My wife really likes the micro-bubbles. The thing that she does not like that much ‘cause it could be better is the time that the heating of the seat takes to heat up. The guy told us to do it several minutes before so it will kinda work right. Also, one thing I saw when I was playing with the gadgets when I was showing my wife is that the lever that one does do to do the hand-held showerhead versus the rain head could have a stopper, the same thing with the heat, so one doesn’t push it to the left or to the right to get sprinkle when one doesn’t want it. That’s something that could be improved with a little stopper button. Other than those, our experience with Safe Step was fantastic.

We were doing a full remodel on our guest bathroom and we were planning on staying in this house until we retire. We are not of retirement age but I have a lot of mobility issues at the moment so, we were looking to replace the bathtub with something that would bring us into our old age. We ran across Safe Step and it was kind of a geriatric look and I am not a geriatric yet, so I didn’t wanna go down that path. But when the sales rep came and told us all about all the different features, they were great. We decided that, in spite of the fact that it’s not the prettiest thing on the planet, we would get one.

I had a list of questions and the salesperson was knowledgeable about everything. I liked that she was not all about pushing a sale. When I heard early on what the price was, I told her that that was not what we had budgeted for a bathroom. The cost of the tub exceeded what the budget was to redo the entire bathroom and we’re having custom-cabinetry made so, I was shocked about the price but she went ahead and somehow made me interested in hearing more. It was a good experience with her. She was a real person and seemed honest.

Our house was built in the 80’s and installation was not as easy as anticipated. Normally, all they have to do is take the door frame off to get the new tub in. They had to cut into our sheet rock to get the tub in and we had just had the entire house repainted and had some sheet rock work done. Now, I’m left with having to repair both the inside and outside of the bathroom. The last thing I wanna do is deal with mud, and sanding and painting, but that’s where I’m left with. That was not ideal, but the installers were very knowledgeable and they were very nice people. They were a married couple and they were super nice and quick in spite of the fact they ran into some snags at our house. They dealt with that. So, they were here a little bit longer than they had anticipated, but they were lovely about it. Aside from having more work to do after the installation was done, it went smoothly.

I have been able to use the tub and I like it, but I wish that it was deeper. The amount of water that it takes to fill it is substantial and I am 5’8”, so it’s kind of average height but when I’m sitting in that tub, I have to put myself in a very strange position in order to submerge myself. It is a position that I will not be able to do when I’m an old lady. The water barely gets over the jets on your back and I’m still hardly submerged. It might come up to maybe my belly button so, I turn my body around and float in the water with my calves and feet in the seat, and my butt floating in the large part of the water, and my head sticking out over where the faucets are. So, it is a little bit of a distortion to get into that position. I can also soak by being on my knees with my upper body leaning on the seat, which is a really weird way of doing things, but it’s the only way I can get fully submerged.

For the amount of money I spent, I wish I was absolutely thrilled with absolutely every aspect of it, and I’m not. It needs to be perfect and it’s not, which is a shame. I don’t hate it so bad that I want them to take it out. We’ll keep it but it’s a huge expenditure for it’s not, to me, perfect. It will be perfect for someone shorter who is maybe 5’3”. They might be more submerged although they still have to use a whole lot of water. Also, the heated seat only heats the back and it doesn’t get very warm, so it’s pointless.

I’m not disappointed in the tub even though it kinda sounds like I am. I got tiny bubbles, the regular jets and the light features. I got all of the whistles and bells, and I’ve used all of them except for the aromatherapy largely because I use bath bombs frequently, but I really like the tiny bubbles and the handheld shower head. I’ve actually showered in that bathtub and washed my hair in there, just sitting in the seat one day, when I was hurting really bad and I just was not in the mood to stand up in the master bathroom shower. It was good and nice in that regard.

The service was very good and I’m assuming that what I was told was accurate, that in the event I need to have someone come out, it’s likely gonna be the same people who installed it. Even if it’s not the same people, it is their staff installers which is appealing to me, because often, service people don’t know the first thing about products. So, at least the bathtub people, they know what they’re doing and if I ever need service, I am assured that whoever comes out here is gonna really know the product, and that’s how good they are.

We liked the design of Safe Step Walk-in Tubs the best over other walk-in bathtub companies. Our sales guy was great. He did a good job of showing us everything. The installation team was really nice. and they worked hard and got it in quickly for what they had to do, and they left the place clean. We are really happy. The only problem we had was the rainfall shower head. The pull on it leaked, but we finally got someone out here to come and fix it, so it was great. As far as the features of the walk-in tub, I like all of them. If I’m really hurting, the tub really helps my knees and I feel better for another day or two. We are really happy with the tub, except the cost, although I can understand that.

I have chronic pain on my back so I bought the walk-in tub from Safe Step for its jets and the hydrotherapy. The rep was a woman and I appreciated that because I dealt with men from other companies and some were just downright rude. The installation team was courteous. When I had a question about leakage, I called them and they came right back. They tested it, and everything was okay. However, Safe Step didn't follow through with rewarding my referral. I have the tub since the beginning of April and they had plenty of time.

I had hip replacement in January and my doctor damaged my nerves. Now my foot is paralyzed and I have drop foot, so I need to get in and out of the tub and a shower without my husband having to do it all for me. I called Safe Step and they made an appointment, and a gentleman came out and talked to us about it. We had already researched them and knew what we needed and wanted, so it wasn’t too much. The techs came in on the day they said they would and they did the work fine. They also repaired what they damaged. There was a free shower kit available with the new tub.

The only thing about the tub is the seat itself is too short. I could get in the tub, then I wanna sit down further and put my head back, but I can’t do that. My behind is hanging on the edge of the seat. The seat is not long enough for me to be able to relax with. We also have low water pressure in our house, so it takes me forever to fill the tub. My husband is finally getting a plumber to put in a pump. Also, after I turn the tub off, a little while later the motor suddenly turns back on. It must be cooling off the motor, but they didn’t tell us so we assumed it must be a normal thing and I didn’t know it was gonna happen. The tub turned on and it was so scary. I hope it's normal because it happens every time I use the tub.

The person who sold the Safe Step walk-in tub over the phone was good. I wanted it for my husband, who is legally blind with macular degeneration. I like that you can sit down in there and take a shower. And while I still have to help my husband since he can't use the spigot, getting in the tub and sitting down is easier than climbing over the tub. Safe Step Walk-in Tubs is safe and it's good.

I take a shower every day and I had safety bars put in the shower in the master bedroom, but I had to stand up there. I wasn’t that strong and didn't wanna take any chances of slipping or falling. When we saw Safe Step on TV, we said we'd give it a shot. Their representative came here and he was excellent. He had a lot of confidence and we decided we had to go with him. The installation was unbelievable. The installers were in and out of here in no time. They were neat, clean and picked up after themselves. The gentleman who was supposed to put the safety bars in took the time and trouble to have me relax and decide where I wanted the safety bars on. The tub's floor is excellent. You can’t slide on it. I just stand right up, hold onto the bars and I’m out of there. Although I would have liked the seat a little wider, the tub is well engineered. We’re very happy that we have Safe Step.

My daughter had been in a car wreck and she got a head trauma. So, I looked for something that would get her in a bathtub so she can get a bath or a shower. I called Bath Fitters and they gave me a price. I sent the price to the lady of a trust fund I had and she said that it was too high and told me to find another. Then, I grabbed my cellphone and started going through the internet. I found Safe Step Walk-in Tubs. When I called them, their sales reps were very friendly. They answered any questions I had and a rep made sure that I understood every bit about it. If he didn’t know the answer, he looked for it until he found it. He also contacted his main boss. But, with the trust fund, it kinda turned him off. He has never worked with those before but when we talked, the rep was shocked at how quick the lady worked and took care of it.

When the tub was installed, I had more grandkids staying here at the house with me and the guys who put it in were really awesome. It was a little safe to let the kids help and show them how to do the stuff which was shocking because a lot of times, I don’t get that. They were very kid-friendly with the kids and polite. I have used the tub and it helped with my arthritis. Her sister, who was pregnant at that time, used it too. It helped a lot with the pains that she was having with the baby and situations. But now, we are in the process of trying to get a lift thing to get my daughter in there because the girl that was gonna help me get her in there decided to quit. That aside, I recommend that everybody should go with Safe Step to get a tub.
