2/04 purchased Maytag range #mer5755qwa. Thanksgiving Day 11/07 circut control board burned out. the top worked, but not the oven, broiler, self-clean. sp no dinner!! Ordered $200 part, installed, used oven 6 times, burned out again. Went online to see if anyone else had a problem..wow! the response about this defective stove is interesting. How can we consumers get a recall or compensated?

The part is $200 + to repair. I can not provide meals for my family. I will not spend $200 every 6 weeks. I am very disappointed with Maytag for I felt I was buying top of line product.

I purchase a Maytag Gemini double oven in 2001. It worked fine for a few years. I have had to put hundreds of dollars into stove and still cannot get it fixed. They put new elements in both ovens, and stated maybe it was the main board which would be $300.00. THe Board keeps beeping and saying call an 800 number for F1 or F3 service. No one can figure out what is wrong. I have to shut the breaker off to my oven to get it to quit beeping. The stove is not even usable.

Stove not usable and cannot get anyone to fix it. I also have problems with my Maytag diswasher. Damage is who can afford to keep putting money into the stove and hope it works or pay at least $2,000.00 to buy a new one. I will not ever buy a maytag product again. My parents swore buy maytag in their day, because they last so long. What does this say about the company being reputable?

In June 2006 we purchased a Maytag Gemini double oven stove as part of a kitchen remodel. In September of 2007 our electronic control panel would not let us shut off the stove. We had to trip the breaker to shut it off. It was repaired with a new panel (out of warranty). June 2008 finds us with the same problem, a control panel that will not shut off. Maytag says too bad. One repair I can accept. Two repairs of the same part in less than a year is a pattern. Maytag should be held accountable for defective parts.

For the third time now since we purchaced this oven, it has stopped working and displays the F1-1 Fault code indicating a problem with the upper oven sensor. After replacing both upper and lower sensor, the Fault returns after a day or so. The oven will not heat properly and both ovens appear to be affected. The first time this happened we pestered Sears until they actually replaced the oven. This persistant fault should be dealt with by the manufacturer.

3 separate repair procedures - each time costing at about $100 and one oven replacement. This stove breaks every couple of years. Its not reliable.

We have a 2 year old Maytag Gemini double oven (gas) that is a major disappointment. A year ago the touch panel for the upper oven broke so if pressed the oven cannot be turned off unless we pull the entire stove out and unplug it. We have experienced random clicking of the pilot light with gas smells and tonight while wiping it down experienced a fire! Some water got into it and flames were coming up from where the dials are. It was terrifying to see this on fire when dealing with natural gas.

This stove is not usable. Random sparks and fires are not acceptable and with small children in the house it's not worth the chance.

Apx 4 months ago we purchased a Maytag stove at Home Depot, the oven was not reaching above 250 degrees and the burners were not powerfull at all. So we called for service. After five service calls the stove is still not working and Maytag is not deeming this stove unrepairable, they changed many parts on it and it still does not work. We have not been able to cook since we bought it and i'm tired of it. Just wanted to know who can help me speed this process.

Every time a service call was scheduled the company's hours are from 9:00AM till 5:00PM so we had to lose five days of work and/or productivity.

I purchased a Maytag, electric 30 free standing slide-in range in 2001. July 03 after using self clean control panel broke. This was covered under extended warranty. Oct. 07, same thing. Took a month to finally get it results after terrible tech advice causing me almost electrocute myself. Again, last week, self cleaned the oven and now the control panel is out again. I can not get anyone from Maytag to return my calls this time. This is obviously a flaw in design or intentional flaw to require frequent, expensive part replacement.

This time, I have to shut the breaker off in between cook top usage as the control panel gets to hot. I need to cook to feed my family. Maytag does not care about any inconvenience or excess repairs of the same problem.

He was going on vacation and couldn't get to me right away so I called Sears repair. The repairman came out the following week and said it needs a new control board for a cost of $400 plus the $50 I had just paid for a service call. THere was no way I was paying $450 to have it fixed when I only paid $469 for it new.

I have looked at a repair blog on the internet and was surprised at how many people have posted with the same range and same problem that I have. I contacted Maytag to see if there was a recall since there are so many people with the same problem, but they said no. I would like to know if there is a class action lawsuit for this product.

We called Maytag and they did advise they would pay for the part but not the repair.

Anew oven that was purchased 15 months ago for over 1200 dollars should not have to be repaired. I too like all the others thought I was buying a very good product. Looks like the Maytag repairman is not as lonely as they state in the commercials. The repairman came early however he told us we had to order the part. I own a Maytag Gas precision touch 500 (model number mgr5755qdq) range which I purchased approximately 2-3 years ago. The oven lock feature would come on and blink and then occasionally go off. Then it would appear more frequently. The real problem started when I either could not light the oven, or if I was cooking in the oven the door would lock itself and the oven would NOT shut off. I would have to pull the oven out from the wall and unplug it. I had a serviceman come to my home, and he stated the control panel was defective. Being a two year old stove how could a major component of the stove break. I have researched on the internet and found similar complaints. I called Maytag to see if they would cover some or all of the cost, and I was told that since the machines are man-made anything can happen. So not only am I out a stove but also the $90.00 I paid for the service call.

I was told the entire control panel would need to be replaced at a cost of $441.68.

I was awakened by a frightening crash from the kitchen at 2:00 in the morning on January 25, 2008. Much to my amazement I realized that the front panel of my Maytag Model MEW5527DDB wall oven had exploded sending shards and pieces of black glass in a 6 to 9 foot arc around the kitchen. I couldn't believe it! This was especially puzzling as the oven had not even been used for three days. I filed a complaint with Maytag/Whirlpool online customer service on January 26, 2008.

Fortunately this happened in the middle of the night, as had someone been standing at the kitchen counter they would certainly have been injured, as the oven is mounted at eye level. Apparently the glass was tempered; however it all did not crumble. Many pieces were 1-2 inches long. When I began to clean up the mess I was dismayed to find that glass had found its way into dish cloths, towels, open drawers, dog dishes, the dining room carpet, the fruit bowl, etc. The entire area needed a thorough cleaning as naturally we were worried about subsequent injuries.

Today's date is February 13, 2008 and I finally made contact (after several emails, phone messages) with Marti, a Maytag rep. She was quick to answer my initial email but a bit slow to follow up. She did a good job in defending the Maytag product. According to Marti this is something that can happen whenever you have an appliance that has tempered glass. When I asked how many incidents have been reported, she said that was not information she could share with customers, which made me suspect mine wasn't the first case she had heard of. Frankly I was surprised that Maytag wouldn't stand by their product and replace the door free of charge, especially when the problem could have involved injury. This also made me suspect that they have received many complaints of this nature...too many to offer door replacements, especially when the new door might have the same problem. When I asked if, since this seemed to be a common occurrence, there was a warning posted somewhere on the appliance, she said that since it (the exploding issue) was a property of tempered glass, and not of the appliance itself, a warning wasn't necessary. When asked if I could have the oven door or glass replaced, I was told sure, but that I would have to pay for the service call and all labor. They would provide the glass and any other parts needed as determined by an authorized service dealer. Service call to assess damage - $60.00; Estimated labor to replace glass - about $200.00.

According to Marti, no one warrantees glass. It seems to me either 1) Oven manufacturers need to stop making glass doors, and/or 2)The tempered glass folks need to develop a safer product, as it must be ridiculously unstable. So, after just three years I am out the $800.00 or so that I spent on this oven. I will most likely replace the oven with a new unit without a glass door, IF I can find one which means I am out at least another $800.00. Once you have experienced this phenomena it really makes you hesitant to throw $$ into another glass door unit. And to top it off I don't really feel my complaint was taken seriously, or that Maytag really cared that I had a concern.

In December 2003, we made the worst decision of our lives. We actually bought all Maytag appliances for our brand new home. Since then we have become first name basis with our nearest Maytag repair technician. Six months after installing our appliances I ran the self cleaning on our Maytag Gemini Range. 20 minutes after the start the oven glass on the bottom door blew out. The technician I was referred to, told me that is what is supposed to happen. So I asked again, every time I use the self clean option the oven glass is going to shatter? After, that conversation and money to replace the door, I should have left all the appliances on Maytag's front door at their headquarters.

In Feb 2007 our Maytag side by side $1500.00 refridgerator stops cooling. Techs come and put in a new compressor and dryer. After waiting six weeks for the parts to come in. Two days later the refridgerator is room temp again. Another compressor and dryer and thermostat are put in. One week later the same thing happens. It is now Jan 31, 2008 and we have put in two more compressors and dryers and controllers. Just add up how much food has been spoiled in this time.

Then, on Saturday, I pulled the refridgerator out to clean under it and what do I find. It now leaks. The evaporator is not working. But get this, my hardwood floor and cupboard near the refridgerator is completely warped and wrecked. We then went down to the basement and looked up and noticed mold growing in the crevices of the subfloor. Called the techs, who in turn told us they have never in all their years of fixing appliances have run across this. The techs called the Maytag techline who in turn told them that they were supposed to put in a special conversion kit when the compressor and dryers were exchanged.

But that isn't all the problems we have had with Maytag. Out left front burner on our Maytag Gemini burns out every 30-60 days. I have had to have techs come in exchange the burners several times. We now only rarely use the the left front burner. And to top all this off the Maytag dishwasher started leaking, warped the hardwood floor (because I run the dishwasher while I am at work). The float stopped working, not to mention the handle has been broke since it was three months old. Bottom line. I will never buy a Maytag product again nor will I ever let someone I know buy one either.

Food was lost. Hardwood floor and subfloor need to be replaced due to mold growing from the leaking refridgerator.

I have 3 Maytag appliances. The Gemini Stove has had a gas leak from day one. Had to get the gas company out to red tag it before anyone would do anything.

Then I got a Maytag dishwasher. Shelf broke 3 days after I got it. I had to pick up the part because it was the day before Thanksgiving and I was having 19 people for dinner. Then, 3 months AFTER the warranty wore off, my dishes were coming out dirtier than when I put them in. I called and they basically told me to take a hike, because the warranty was over.

Now I have an Ice 2 O French door refrig. Maytag again!! Two different repairmen at two different times were here already. One said it was the control panel, another said the motor. We are still waiting for parts and still buying ice.

I want to know, what are the chances, I have 3 Maytag Appliances, AND ALL 3 are LEMONS???

My husband turned on the self cleaning cycle of our Maytag electric Gemini range and it ran through most of the cycle but at the end made all of our lights in our house go crazy. He didn't realize that the oven was causing the problem, but then it took out our whole main line and breaker box into our house.

The top of the stove works fine but the oven will not heat higher than 100 degrees before the f1 code starts beeping. Sometimes in the middle of the night it will start beeping and flashing when nothing is on.

An authorized repairman said that both circuit boards would have to be replaced and they were over $200 each, not including his service call.

I purchase the Maytag Gemini Smooth Top Electric Oven and have had nothing but problems. After self cleaning the oven, the inside glass shattered. About a year after the glass breaking, I turned the oven on it started to smoke and it smelled as if wires were burning, the clock went dimmer and dimmer until it went out. I decided to get rid of it. I will never purchase another Maytag product.

This has caused an unexpected expense for a product that was thought to be a very good product.

Maytag MER5770AAW. I purchased this range July 8, 1999, (along with the Neptune washer/dryer, and Maytag refrigerator. The refrigerator was replaced immediately. Shortly, the dryer motor went bad and it had to be replaced. There was a recall on the Neptune washer and missed my chance to have it repaired, because I did not checked the e-mail. Then, late one night I heard this continuous beeping noise, went in the kitchen and the sound was coming from the key pad, flashing F1, I pressed the cancel pad to stop the process and was not successful. Called the Corp. Office with this problem, given instructions to unplug the stove for one hour, to clear panel by holding the control lock or call a authorized Maytag service, if these procedures do not work, nothing worked. It was defective in 1999 and Maytag should bear the cost of replacing and not with a Maytag Range. The range top works, but the oven is not working at all.

Maytag MER5770AAW. The electronic range control panel went bad after cleaning the oven. It looks like the vent just below the panel allowed the extra heat to damage the panel. After reading it looks like this is a factory design defect and would not be worth investing the money to just have it fail again.

We purchased a Maytag glass top range 4 years ago. One day while preheating the oven to make a pizza, it started making a strange noise. My husband opened the oven door & he said it seemed like a rush of air just sucked into the oven. After that the oven & broiler did not work.

We called the Maytag repairman who told us it would cost over $300 to fix. All the components for the oven were burnt out. He also said that a week prior he saw another Maytag that was only 3 years old & the same thing happened.

We spent around $700 for this stove. It should last longer than 4 years.

I purchased a Jennair gas range in August, 2004. Since that time the electronic control panel has failed 6 times, the last time being November, 2006. Each time the repair person from Maytag has made exactly the same repair, replacing the electronic control panel. When it failed in 2005, I filed a consumer protection claim with the State of Washington Attorney General's office. I reached an agreement with Maytag that if it failed again, they would replace the range.

Maytag Oven Model #MER5755QAW purchased in 2004 oven door handle came off on right side. Bought from Sears. Contacted Sears and would not replace part. Contacted local Maytag authorized repair center. When they were given the information that it was a two year old Maytag oven the lady asked if I needed an oven door handle. Decided I would try to glue it back together (brass final is pressed into plastic for screw that holds the handle on) and went to Lowes. While I was there I walked by the appliances and saw a Maytag (gas oven) with the same handle broken on the right side. I called Maytag and they said there is nothing wrong with the handle and there are no factory recalls for them.

We bought a Maytag MER5775QAN smooth top range that was installed in May 2004. The oven door handle soon came very loose. It was reinstalled under warranty. The over door handle is again loose. In addition, there is quite a bit of dust between the front and inner glass, and some brown stains on the inner glass. It appears that the door has three panes of glass. I'm not quite sure if they are glass or some other material.

We have two Maytag Magic Chef ovens. The ovens have control panels that we have replaced repeatedly over the last ten years we have owned these ovens.

When the panel fails, the display shows an F1 error message and an annoying beep is emitted. Aside from disconnecting the oven entirely, the only repair for the problem is to replace the control panel at a cost of about $250. The replacement panel only lasts for a few months before the same problem arises again.

We purchased a Maytag Gemini Range (model #MER6875AAS) in Nov. 04. I love the range and have had no problems with the unit. We purchased the Stainless Steel model but today realized the edges of the range doors are sharp. My 14 month son was walking in the kitchen running his hand along the lower door handle when his finger was cut in the door vents behind the handle. We inspected the range more closely and realized he could easily be cut on all the edges of the oven doors. After 2 visits to the ER today for this injury I am not sure what I am going to do with my oven! I contacted Maytag and spoke with Corporate. They don't know what to do and will research it and contact me on Monday. I hope other parents review this and check their range edges before their children are injured.

Large cut on 2nd digit of right hand. ER attempted to seal the wound with Dermabond but unsuccessful.

Range with the F1 fault error. The part has been replaced twice, the last time in Nov. 05. The oven stopped working, the authorized dealer would not help. In June 06, the FI fault happened AGAIN! The company insisted that the warranty was not valid because the stove is old, they would not admit that if the same exact part breaks down over and over, it is not an age issue, it is the part! I cannot use the oven at all, it won't heat over 250. I wrote to the CEO, got a call from someone who I have called back 6 times now. They keep their phones on voice mail all the time. Too many other choices to bother with this company.

We bought the most expensive smooth-top Maytag Gemini range two years ago. I have had no problems with it until I used the Self-Clean for the first time. It was set to clean for 3 hours and at some point in the cycle, I heard a loud pop followed by a series of pops, then the inside glass in the bottom oven door shattered in millions of pieces.

The oven was beeping, had F-9 error code and a phone number to call. I called but they wouldn't talk to me until I could tell them the exact day in April of 2004 that I purchased the stove. I found that and they said it was not under warranty. I was livid!!

I had never used the Self Clean, and I followed the directions exactly. It was obviously a defect. I couldn't even use the top oven because it is on LOC. I looked on the internet and found that this has happened to many other people.

We moved into a brand new development in August of 2002. The builder used all Maytag appliances in all of the 200 homes in the development. In June of 2005, we began to notice that our gas range oven was not heating properly. We would set the temperature and would find that it would take almost an hour to get up to 200 degrees. We called Maytag, they told us that the range is out of warranty and what the cost would be. We decided to shop around and ended up going with a local appliance repair company.

They came out and determined that the bottom oven ignitor was bad. They replaced it at a total cost of $175. A few weeks later, we found out that MANY of our neighbors had been having the SAME problem with their ranges! Calls to Maytag basically put us all through the 'run-around'. Now, July 2006, just one year and one month after having the ignitor replaced the first time, it appears that I am having the same problem, AGAIN! It is absolutely absurd that a 4 year old oven needs to have the ignitor replaced TWICE!!! In my opinion, this oven is defective and should probably be recalled.

Bought the Maytag Gemini Gas range on 11-23-2004 and used it until 8-05 when the upper igniter, in the upper oven, burned itself up, smoked up my house and threw the breaker. New igniter replaced and the service rep suggested the Extended Service Warranty because they have 'had problems'. Did that.

On 11-18-2005, the upper oven burned up, threw the breaker and smoked up the house again. Called repair and they replaced the Electronic control board and igniter AGAIN.

4-10-2006, the lower oven did the same thing. This time there is a silver, sparkling residue on the oven and the oven was on CLEAN when this happened. Oven did NOT clean even though it went through the lock, etc. Called Maytag, asked for a replacement but got a service call. They replaced the electronic control board.

4-12-2006, I am cooking on the stove top and the oven turns itself on (digital) and goes up to 450 then down to 150 and back. Called Maytag furious and the surly woman told me that the would not replace my oven until it had a service call 4 times on the SAME component and that she would not consider this time because they had just been out 2 days ago. I told her that it was a different oven and different problem.

Now service can't come out until 4-17. We are scared of this oven and want a new oven, another brand.

Maytag gas range Gemini ModelMGR6772BDQ purchased Sept.2003 from a Sears store has been used daily with no mishap until Nov. 30, 2005 when the upper oven door literally exploded without any impact or any type of misuse. The door fronts we learned are made of a heavy safety glass and can suddenly break and disentegrate into small crystals with no obvious reason. This happened about ten minutes after a normal oven use during the cool down.

Glass was thrown up to ten feet away and covered a large area of the kitchen floor. I was just about to go to the oven and open the door when the "explosion" occurred and there were no injuries. Maytag is going to replace the door front and refused my request for a complete exchange of the entire door. My first request was for a new range but did not really expect that could happen.

My wife and I are now reluctant to use the range ovens and knowing that the bottom oven also has the glass exterior makes us cautious about looking into the oven through the glass door window. We were never informed that the doors were made of a heavy safety glass and to all appearances we assumed that they were made from porcelain enameled steel as every other kitchen appliance we have ever owned. The owner's manual has no information or warnings on this.

I purchased a smooth top range from Lowe's and the very first time I turned it on it burst into flames (this was not a gas range) because of incorrect wiring inside of the range. Lowe's was very good about coming out right away to replace the range. The second range (same model)seemed to always get too hot when we used the oven and the paint on the outside of the range began to peel off and rusting.

After one cleaning of the oven it started beeping, the lock light remains on and the oven no longer works at all with various F3, F1, F9 error messages flashing. I called to get service on the range and was informed that even though Maytag has had this problem with their ranges for YEARS, they have not corrected the problem nor have even TRIED to correct the problem. This was the most expensive range out there when I purchased it and for the money it should have been practically lined in gold at the most and at the very least better than any other range on any market anywhere; of which neither is true!! Okay, the gold part is an exaggeration!! However, the lack of quality and safety is not.

I purchased a Maytag range/oven, model MGR5730BDW in September, 2002. In the last month, the auto pilot light has been operating sporadically in the oven. One more than one occasion, it has not worked, filling the kitchen with natural gas and forcing us to evacuate. I contacted Maytag who said since I did not purchase the extended warranty (why would I need an extended warranty on a product less than 3 years old), it would cost me $130 for someone to come out to look at the oven plus labor and parts.

It was interesting in that the customer service rep, when I mentioned a malfunctioning pilot light, describe the problem back to me before I had a chance to explain, which leads me to believe I'm not the first who's called. Not satisfied, I e-mail their customer service department. The respondent said they had a "fix it yourself" feature where they could provide info on how to fix the problem. Fix a natural gas problem in the oven myself? I don't think so. I will never buy a Maytag product again. I'm having a non-Maytag repair service look at the problem.
