I purchased a white Maytag gas stove over 12 years ago. It has been great and never caused any problems. I live alone and rarely use the oven. However, I use the stovetop daily for cooking. With continual use, it has a lot of nicks and scratches. It also has stains inside the glass oven panel that I can't clean. The glass would have to be removed in order to clean inside. This is why I give a rating of 4 stars. If I used the oven more frequently, I would notice if it had any problems with the temperature, proper cooking, etc. and could give a more accurate rating. I have small toaster oven and therefore, I cook practically all of my meals in the toaster oven.

Called Maytag and they sent out a repairman who said I needed to preheat the oven for 25 minutes before putting my food inside. "Don't pay any attention to the beep, because when it says it has preheated but it really hasn't." To think you pay that kind of money for such a piece of JUNK!! Also, I have owned 2 other glass top stoves (the last one I owned for 23 years) and never had a scratch on the surface. There's already a big scratch on this new one. So after many hours and calls two service techs told us the system will not clean the oven and after many cycles it will not and the bad part is they are still selling this system to the public. Criminal. I think they should own up to the public when they do this kind of thing. On top of this I would go buy the self cleaning oven but the tech even said he will not use it because it will break and need replacement. In my owner's manual, the description to replace the oven light shows a simple process of removing a glass bulb cover within the oven itself and then unscrewing the ordinary looking light bulb. However, Maytag made a design change and now uses a complete unit that combines the bulb, the glass cover and the bulb holder. This requires you to pull the stove out from the wall, open up the back of the oven, bend some retaining tabs around the light unit and then remove the whole unit.
The killer is, Maytag has made this disgusting, usurious design change in order to force you to pay over $50 US plus taxes and shipping for the replacement unit, instead of $6 CDN ($4.50 US) for a light bulb that you can buy anywhere and can easily change yourself in a couple of minutes within the oven itself. But now you will probably have to call in a repair guy to make this replacement for you. When manufacturers start doing things like that, it's time to stop buying their products. I will certainly never use Maytag again, and I'll make sure any other oven manufacturer I'll consider is not doing anything similar.

We bought the Maytag Aqualift cooktop about a year ago & are continuously dissatisfied with it, for several reasons: 1) the cooktop is a huge nuisance to cook on. The burners are either raging hot (causing boil-overs), or too cool to simmer. The boil-overs then require much cleaning with an expensive cleaning agent. 2) the oven, whether you use regular or convection, underheats - so you can’t tell how long the cooking or baking process will take, & you have to monitor the cooking process. 3) the so-called self-clean is a joke; the oven will not be clean unless you crawl inside & clean it manually. Overall, I’d prefer to toss this range in the trash. I’m a good cook, but I get angry every time I use this expensive, poorly- designed product.

Purchased a Maytag smooth-top range about a year and a half ago. I've only cooked frozen pizzas in it. Have only had it on six or seven times. Haven't used the top burners at all. It's an electric range, and I just had it hooked up a couple of months ago, as I was trying to find a place for it in the tiny kitchen. The folks who lived here before me, had a huge refrigerator and gas stove right next to each other, and I didn't want to go that route. Anyway, I went to put yet another frozen pizza in the oven, and the light doesn't work!
So, after only six or seven uses, the oven light is busted! My mom had an old Westinghouse Terrace Top range, and it lasted well over 20 years with no problems. The only reason she sold it was because she remodeled her kitchen. It still worked great after all those years. So I drove to their service provider, he laughed and said imagine they want me to send a service Tech out to look at cooking grates and NO they don’t stock them. If you want a cooking surface that is level and does not SCRATCH BOTTOMS all your cookware.
The convection oven is also a joke. In order to bake something in the specified recipe time, I have to set bake temp 25 degrees higher to compensate for convection ovens automatic temp set back feature. We had a Whirlpool stove/oven for many years, and it was finally time to trade it in. Everything about that unit was good. While shopping for another Whirlpool, the sales rep told us that Maytag and Whirlpool are one and the same. That we found, is false. An important feature for us in an appliance is the self cleaning oven. The Maytag oven had to be leveled four times after it was installed, in order for the self clean feature to function. The self clean part is only a small indented portion of the bottom of the oven, not the entire oven. And even that does not clean. After going through the dealership service about this problem, I contacted Maytag. My final frustrated summary to the rep was that I understand that we bought a lemon, and you are not going to help us in any way. This oven has been used so very seldom that I didn't feel I could rate it until now. We use the oven 1-2 times a week since purchasing it in March of 2018. There hadn't been any reason to use the Self Cleaning part of the oven until last week. I have had a oven with self-cleaning for 20 years and the oven went out so we purchased this one because of its sleek look and features. However last week I decided to use the self-cleaning setting on it and came home after being gone all day to find that the house smelled like it had a fire burning in it. I ran to the oven to find the whole inside cover in a white powdery substance. It looked like a snow blizzard had gone on inside of it. I was use to a small amount of white residue being inside the oven after it finished and it just wiped right up.
We spent hours vacuuming it out then scrubbing it down with vinegar water and a sponge with a scouring pad on it. The casserole spill was still on the bottom, most of the enamel is gone and the glass will not clean off. I did not use any chemicals in the oven prior to turning it to the self-clean mode, I believe that it overheated and burnt the enamel off and distorted the glass. Whirlpool offered to send me a cleaning kit. I told them that would do no good. I had already scrubbed and used a razor blade to try and clean the bottom and the glass and them sending me different cleaning supplies would not fix the fact that 80% of the inside protective coating on the oven is gone. Now it is a porous surface.
A Serviceman was scheduled and he called prior to arrival today and asked me to explain what was going on with my oven. I explained and he said I can almost guarantee that Whirlpool will say that it is cosmetic and they only cover cosmetic for 3 months and that I will have to pay for a $100.00 service call. This is a load of crap. This coating is part of the oven to keep it clean and protect the metal from the high heat of baking in it. This is not cosmetic feature like the outside stainless steel finish or the black trim decor. The inside doesn't look pretty. It is a function. See the photos below. Whirlpool Range Item # 805150. From day one the oven door never closed right, the self cleaning oven device had to be replaced 3 times over the year after have a repairman tell me that they all fail. I stopped using the self cleaning feature. This stove has cost me so much in repairs.
The cook top is very very hard to clean. It always looks dirty. All the plastic knobs have melted off because the oven door never closed right. And the knobs are crazy expensive to replace as is just about everything on this stove. The oven temperature can not be trusted never cooked at the temperature it was set at. I paid a lot of money for this stove 10 years ago. And I am finally able to replace it thanks to a Christmas present from my 3 children. I love to cook and this stove made it difficult. Now that entire plate is bubbling and peeling and makes the whole range look like crap. My wife swears we'll never buy another Maytag product...EVER! She's ripped! I can't seem to find the replacement part to purchase. Lousy products!

Purchased a Maytag range with Aqualift technology in 2013 thinking it was a good brand and *happy* to find a new way to self-clean my oven. This turns out to be nothing but a joke and I am not *happy* with it. After following directions to the letter, there is some loosening of anything on the floor of the oven, but the sides and top are slowly being coated with more and more grease.
I've spent way too much time with my head in the oven trying to scrub stuff without using a heavy duty cleaner but feel I now need to resort to Easy Off as there is no other way to get it clean. I also don't understand why they tell you to remove the racks since there obviously isn't enough "going on" to even clean the oven... How would the racks be damaged? And now I believe there is a problem with the Dual Choice element where I'm not able to turn the temperature down. Even turned back to the low setting, the pan cooks away like it's on high. I have to keep turning it off and then back on in an attempt to find something similar to 'medium' or 'low' heat. I'm so very disappointed in Maytag and feel this method of oven cleaning should never have been put on the market. It's a scam!

Whirlpool owns Maytag and it appears that selling poorly made products is now their focus. When I purchased this Maytag 30" Gemini double oven range, I thought I was buying a superior product. Now, I am on my 3rd repair. When would it fail, on Christmas Eve morning when I am trying to prepare dinner for 20 people who are coming for dinner party. I paid too much for this piece of junk. From now on, I am buying from the scratch and dent sale because there are no quality appliances manufactured today. Buy cheap and it won't irritate you so much because no one especially Whirlpool owned companies focus on quality.

Tonight my top burner started snapping like an arc or short. Yup that’s it for me. I was thinking of buying a Maytag Gas Range as I was brought up on gas and I have a plumber coming this weekend to plumb for Natural Gas but after reading all the negativity on the gas ranges as well I absolutely will not be buying a Maytag now or ever! Angie from WFCC-PREFERRED APPLIANCE REPAIR had the wiring harness delivered to her personal address and then came out and installed it that same afternoon past 5pm to ensure I had a working stove. I am a long time Maytag customer and it's great to have all my appliances back.

Bought and delivered on October 29, 2018. As soon as it was plugged in and a burner turned on a flame shot across the top and burned a hole in two burners. Maytag sent a repairman out who took the burners then delivered two new ones. Then the problems started. The repairman was unable to get a new wiring harness and after weeks of waiting I tried to get one from Maytag sent to me but they lie constantly. They tell you they sent it via 2 day FEDEX but when you ask for a tracking number they say they can't give one. Then when the part never arrives they claim FEDEX lost it and they are trying to locate another one in the warehouse but can give no details on when they will send it or if they even have it. All a delaying process.
I think they are afraid of a class action lawsuit/recall on this oven as I can think of no other reason for such AWFUL service. All my appliances are Maytag but this one item and completely destroyed my confidence in this brand since it is now Whirlpool in disguise. Worst purchasing experience of my life. Missed Thanksgiving - unable to cook. Had to throw away groceries. Still no hope in sight and it is now December and nothing but lies from this company. Oh, if you ask for a supervisor on their customer support number they tell you this exact quote "Because I am empowered to make decisions on behalf of Maytag, any resolution I can provide you would be Maytag's decision as a company." LOL. I have all the chat transcripts and you wouldn't believe how awful their customer service is.

If I can rate the AquaLift Technology oven cleaning system that my Maytag oven has as a “Zero”, I would. This technology only removes some of the spills on the bottom of the oven. It does not clean the sides or top of the oven. I’m back to the olden days of using a lot of elbow grease to remove splatters and spills. They say you cannot use any cleaners in the oven either. At least with the old ovens you can spray an oven cleaner and wipe it clean. This product has taken us back before there were spray oven cleaners!

I thought I was safe in buying Maytag for all of my appliances in my new kitchen. I bought a double wall oven Maytag MEW6630DDS. I bought it in late 2010 and have had no issues until August of 2018. I rarely use the bottom but used it in August of this year to cook cupcakes. After baking them and leaving the kitchen for a short while I heard a loud explosive, shattering sound. I walked to the kitchen to see that the bottom oven door had shattered into a million pieces. Thank the good Lord that I was not near it. I contacted Maytag to see if there was a reason it would have done this. They said that there had not been a recall. They sent a repairman at no cost to look at it. He came, took it apart and had no reason for why it would have done this. He left it in pieces and said that he was ordering the replacement door. Maytag advised us to turn off the breaker to the oven.
After a month without ovens, the repairman called and said that the part had been discontinued. HA! You think?!? It has the potential to explode. It should have been recalled, not just discontinued. Maytag offered us 20% off a new set of $3000 wall ovens or $150 to pick ours up for disposal. Talk about saving the company money and screwing over the unlucky recipient of a defective product. They ought to be ashamed. I am going to have to replace the broken glass with aftermarket glass.
What is going to happen when I use the self cleaning option? What happens when the top door explodes. I am scared to use my very expensive wall ovens that I thought would last at least 10 years. Shaneka at Whirlpool said that people have appliances fail all the time and just have to buy replacements. Do all of them have to replace ovens because doors explode for no reason? I am not the only one this has happened to. I have found several other complaints of this on the internet. Why did they discontinue these door? I wonder.

OK, I'm at wit's end. I bought a very expensive Maytag Gemini range four years ago. Since then, I have replaced 10 burner valves. There are only five of them. They have each been replaced twice, and tonight yet another has broken. This time it is broken in the ON position, which means I can't have the range on without that burner on. It means unplugging it when not in use and lighting the burner with a match when I re-plug the stove, until I get it fixed. I had just replaced valve number 10 on Tuesday, and had a fully working range for only 5 days. These valves are under warranty but the labor is not, and it is always close to $200 to have someone come out to replace them. I can't afford a new stove and I can't afford to keep having these defective valves replace.

I bought this range (Gemini Double gas range) in 2010 but was not installed in my house until 2011 due to time delays in kitchen re-model. I paid $1310.00. It was serviced 3 times once under warranty. About a year ago the igniter went in one of the ovens for the second time and one of the stove burners wouldn't light. Since the other oven and 3 other burners worked we didn't call for repair, then a second burner stopped working and we called our Maytag dealer. 2 different service techs came one with more experience and both said the same thing the stove wasn't worth fixing due to cost of parts. One of the problems was the screws in the burners couldn't be removed due to rust and deterioration of the screws. They would break and cost other components also to be needed. So after 7 years of use and already having repairs done I have to buy a new stove. It will not be a Maytag.
I also bought a top of the line Maytag dishwasher and one month past the 5 year warranty the electronic panel burned out. After calling Maytag and complaining they did agree to pay for the part close to $300 but I still paid for labor. When I looked at reviews for the oven before purchasing they weren't too good but wanted a double oven at the time and always had good luck with Maytag in the past. I thought buying a higher priced model would be better quality. Not so. After calling Maytag today the best they could offer was to buy an extended warranty for $380, I declined. My advice - Listen to the reviews. The Maytag repairman isn't sitting around idly anymore!

I do not do a lot of grease baking or broiling so I have not needed to clean the oven only twice. The first time was a total surprising astonishment. When I opened the oven immediately after the cycle was completed, the oven was not even 350 degrees, most of the water was still in the oven! This happened shortly after a family crisis (my husband became ill and died), so I did not do any inquiries regarding the cleaning failure. Today, January 24, 2018 I decided I would do my second cleaning. Wow, it was a total and complete failure. The oven was barely warm.

Echoing the sentiments of others on this site, I am deeply disappointed in Maytag brand appliances manufactured by the Whirlpool Corp. When, for the first time in my life, I was able to buy all brand new kitchen appliances, I didn't even consider any other brand but Maytag. This was based on many decades of using Maytag products and watching my mother use them. I come from a big family so our appliances got used hard, and the Maytag brand ones worked year after year, decade after decade with little or no maintenance. To put it quite frankly, my new Maytag products are junk. I could supply a whole laundry list of problems but, in the interest of space, will just tell about the latest.
A couple of weeks ago the fake tin foil paint on my oven and burner knobs just started falling off, revealing cheap plastic underneath. When I called Maytag to complain, I was asked how I clean the knobs. I told them that when I clean the stove front I remove the knobs and drop them in warm water with a couple drops of Dawn dishwashing liquid for the few minutes it takes to clean and polish the stove front, and that I had been using this same procedure for 2 years. The rep. hemmed and hawed awhile and then went away to consult her database.
When she returned she told me that one is not allowed to "soak" the knobs per the manual, and therefore she could not offer any help. She then "generously" offered to transfer me to the parts department, where the rep. informed me that replacements would cost $70 EACH, that's a total of $350 plus shipping for 5 cheap plastic knobs. WOW! What a deal! I tell everyone I meet NOT to buy any Maytag branded product, and to apply extreme skepticism before considering any Whirlpool product. (BTW - the last "certified" Maytag appliance repairman to come & fix one of the appliances essentially admitted they are junk.) Model #: MGR8775AS SN: R32810432.

We thought Maytag was a good appliance. I will not buy another Maytag. They should recall this stove top/oven. I have read so many of the same complaint on this website as well as online in general. I can't believe they continue to sell this with this much of a safety issue. Please take it off the market.

Should have read reviews. I'll never buy another Maytag. This stove has been bad almost from start. Stove has burned marks from using "broil". Repairman told me not to use broil anymore. One of "eyes" has been worked on 2 times; the knob does not work correctly; when you turn off, it goes past the "off" and keeps on going to the left. It is very hard to clean surface. I have had a few years. Company paid for one repair. They should have replaced stove from beginning. Not safe.

Within 6 months we noticed the clear coat and paint was defective, we called Sears, they allowed us another range top and replaced it but told us our warranty was up in a month and they would not replace another. The stove always looks dirty because the clear coat and paint have bubbled up and it is clearly a 100% manufacturing defect that should be recalled.

So far I spent $400.00, just for 2 of them and the last one has not being replaced yet. This is a safety issue, because it always happen when the stove is on and will not turn off. I purchased a Maytag gas range in the past few weeks with Aqua Lift Cleaning System. I have only cooked once when grease spattered on the walls and floor of the oven. I have used the Aqua Lift Cleaning System 5 (five!) times and the grease is still there and very sticky. This system clearly does not do what it was supposed to do. I was fortunate to have bought the appliance where I could return it; however, it has been quite a hassle and I will have to pay an additional $100 to have the old one removed and the new one installed! I feel like Maytag should reimburse me the $100 because it is obvious to me now that I have found hundreds of reports of people not being satisfied with this feature.

My four year old Maytag stove blew out the lower heating element in the oven. The model number is MER8880AW. I removed seven small screws to confirm what the problem was and remove the element. That is a short life span for a stove element. My wife checked our paperwork and thought it indicate the part was covered on the 10 year warranty. Called Maytag at 9 AM and went through the press numbers thing, being put on hold, call dropped, told they were not open twice, etc. Finally got a person to talk to at 2:45 pm. Yes the part is covered under warranty, but no they will not give me the part.
A repairman must plug it in and put the seven screws back in. This will cost me a lot more than the $50 the part cost me at the local appliance store. 10 year warranty. Wow, WORTHLESS! There WILL NEVER BE another Maytag or Whirlpool in my house. Making a big deal out of their warranty when they are going to soak you bad for a simple install is just plain dishonest.

Our product was purchased with our Condo. We have had it for 6 months & the first time I called someone was for the oven door being so terribly hot. I was told that was normal. Then I tried the cleaning of it & you would never know anything had been done. It would take a heck of a lot of elbow grease to get the marks off & I don't have the strength or time to be doing that. I had someone come again & he said to do it again, which I did & it still was not clean. I have done it a 3rd time now & still no better. I think this product is a total piece of junk & would not recommend it to anyone. I am a very unhappy customer & will never purchase another MAYTAG product.

I just bought my Maytag Range model #MGR8700DS2 in August 2016. Bought Maytag because I always thought it was one of the best with the best warranty around. Now I am not so sure. After using it the first time, found that when you are baking anything in the oven the burner control knobs get very hot. That is because they designed the knob area to be right above where the heat vents out from the oven door. The knobs get so hot that you almost burn yourself if you touch them. This is a bad design in my opinion especially if you have any kids around. Even the sides of the oven get way too hot. This is also bad because of the tight spacing to your cabinets. I contacted Maytag about this and got a "OH WELL" kind of reply to my problem. You bought it and you are stuck with it. I would not recommend buying this model to anyone.

We purchased a Maytag electric convection oven with a warming drawer 3 months ago. We have been happy with the cooking features, but not the Aqualift self-cleaning. It does not work and Maytag does not acknowledge this. Instead they have offered cleaning products to us which their own instructions tell you not to use! Does this sound like a self-cleaning oven? They have offered to send out a service person to check the temperature. However, from reading multiple reviews by others, there will likely be no satisfaction from this company.

We purchased a wall oven model MEW7530DE 11/8/2014 which was installed the first part of December 2014. From the beginning the temp was not constant and everything baked was either burned or under baked. The first repairman said the control panel was faulty and was replaced four months after purchase, the problem continued. After three more repairmen all from different companies concluded they could find no problem and that's just how ovens work now. We contacted the owner of Hamilton's Appliance, where the oven was purchased, and requested a replacement oven which was accomplished December 2015.
New oven, same problem, very disappointing. My wife has been baking for over 50 years and has never experienced problems and frustration on this level. The condition of the oven is totally unacceptable and with all the effort by us and others we are at a loss. We purchased an extended warranty which has resulted not fixing of the problem. We hired an electrician to inspect the wiring in case that was the problem, costing us $200. The wiring was all good. What do we do next and what are our options short of another new oven. WHAT IS MAYTAG'S RESPONSIBILITY? Respectfully, a very unhappy customer.

Purchased this double oven back in 2012 and have had to have the control valves replaced twice because of them jamming and snapping. The burners are undersized for cooking and it takes forever to get water to a rolling boil. The broiler in the upper oven needs constant attention when using it because food cooks unevenly and burns quickly. The lower oven is great, convection is awesome. I have seen the Maytag repairman more from my stove than I have for any of the other appliances I owe combined. Maytag should stick to appliances that only use water.

We thought it cooked slow or cooked high/low but couldn't be sure if we were just imagining it until we had family come down at Christmas and complain about how slow the top burners are and why is it taking so long to boil water. Then again family for Easter where they cooked three days in a row and they complained that our top oven either burns or under-cooks the food which we had noticed but presumed we just mistimed a lot of food. Just recently the bottom oven won't heat past 350 and just constantly says preheating. The top oven followed suit shortly after. Nothing past 350.

This review is for a Maytag Gemini MGT8775XW 30 Freestanding Double-Oven Gas Range w/ 5 Burners. I cannot believe the amount of problems I have had from this $2000+ range. Within just a few weeks of getting it, the paint started scratching off the surfaces nearest the heat. Then, the plastic cover over the digital display and controls bubbled up due to the heat of the broiler being in use. They designed it so that the heat escapes from the oven right in front of the control panel, so when you want to adjust temperatures on the control panel, you chance getting burnt from the hot air every time.
The very worst design are the manual knobs for the burners on the front. They are at an angle, and if you look at the oven straight on, you see they are higher than the burner surface. A hot pan that overhangs the burner cooks the knobs. The plastic interior of the knob lacks any kind of heat resistance and actually starts to turn soft, keeping you from being able to turn off the burner at all!
Most dangerous of all, the knobs are frighteningly easy to bump, pouring gas into your house. We have had this problem multiple times. Today, my dog must have wanted to investigate the top of the stove, because when I came home, the burner was on, had burnt through a pot on the stove, and was just at the ignition point for an item sitting next to the stove. If I had come home 15 minutes later, my house would be in flames right now. I am having to air out my home as I type this. I am DONE with this dangerous oven and will be shopping for a new one, and it certainly won't be Maytag.

I purchased this at Home Depot October 2013. The oven heats well. I like the "upper and lower" oven feature. The broiler works fine. I rarely cook using convection. The self-cleaning feature, to this date works fine. Dislikes - the stainless is cheesy and scratches easily. The knobs on the front are of poor quality and the cook top stains easily and does not come clean. Disturbing - the gas cook top has come on twice with simple bumps and gone unnoticed for a period of time. Usually, you hear the clicking with the gas turning on, but not always.
MOST DISTURBING - last night, 1:30 in the morning, I wake up to the heavy smell of gas. Neither my husband, nor I cooked that day, at all. I walked out to the kitchen (opening windows along the way) and the right front burner knob was turned just enough to expel gas, no clicking noise, no flame. This being the third incident (that I can recall), I think this appliance should be recalled. The knobs are not secure/safe enough to be on a gas appliance. Aside from the hazard described above, I too am dismayed at the fact that drips go between the glass and there is no way to clean it. Another poor design flaw.

We purchased a complete suite of Maytag kitchen appliances in September 2014 for $4300. We have had problems with every single piece. Yesterday we needed to clean the oven for the first time as we boiled over a pan of lasagna. Got out the instructions to how to use the "Aqua Lift" cleaning system. Found out that "Aqua Lift" is marketingese for "boy did we build a lot of profit margin into this oven by not putting a REAL self-cleaning unit into it." Instructions are to pour 2 cups of water into the bottom of the oven and press "clean." It heats up the water to about 150 degrees for 40 minutes. Guess what? YOU do all the work of cleaning out the oven. If I had wanted a non-self-cleaning oven, I would have bought a $400 basic stove instead of this bogus $969 stove. Will never buy Maytag again. Dual oven - one is a convection oven. Never used the bottom drawer so that was wasted on previous range. I purchased a white appliance to match my others. The white stove top is a pain. Too bad it wasn't black. I checked this model online and found a good price in the city. I contacted the local Home Depot and they did a price match less 10% - all a bonus. The ovens work great although I have not tried the self clean. I have read that similar models have problems related to the self clean feature - high heat and circuit boards. My plan is to have a fan directed at the top of the stove when I use it and the range hood fan going. The convection oven is great - hard to mess up a recipe with that. The dual ovens are truly a great feature - strongly recommend. The keep warm is great also - nice to have two things cooking at the same time. That being said - the bottom oven is low, but that is worth the extra cooking space.

A deal breaker on any major purchased would be too many bad reviews and shoddy materials or construction. This range has 3 regular burners, one large burner and one small burner. Poor warranty, poor construction, and poor performance would be a definite deal breaker, but thankfully, our investment in our appliances is paying off quite well! I don't mind spending a little extra to ensure the product will last. So many products don't last nowadays and it is sad.
I am not an avid cooker, actually I tend to mess up a lot of food recipes but the electric range helps me to reduce the number of problems I run across with the durability and accountability of the product. With the smaller oven above, if you spill any liquid while taking something out of the top oven, the liquid drips down between the two panes of glass on the lower oven door. This makes it impossible to clean. Maytag's reply - call a service rep and have him make a house call and take the door apart for you and clean it. In the 7.5 years since we have been using these appliances, the dishwasher already had to be replaced, as fixing it would have cost just as much as buying a new one. But it's the range that I am so angry about. I have replaced the igniter 3 times since 2007, and last night, it went out again. I have spent $494 so far to keep replacing the igniter and once I make the service call to replace it AGAIN, it means I will have spent approx. $700 to keep fixing an appliance that is only 7.5 years old. The first problem happened a month after we bought the horrible product. I had biscuits baking in the oven and the oven door locked itself like when in self-clean mode. Maytag sent out a repairman that had the part in his truck because they knew there was a problem with that model's door. I pointed out that the door does not shut properly, causing inaccurate heating and scorching on the outside of the oven door. I have had the part replaced 3 times, and will not do so again until we sell the house.
