Bought a stove in May of 2014. In July of 2014 we noticed a 1"x6" stain inside the glass of the oven door. I called Maytag and they stated only 30 day warranty on cosmetic flaws. I said this was not there when we bought it. They asked if anything had boiled over because if liquids get in the vents on the oven door it can get in between the glass. I stated "no, only cleaned with Stainless steel clear." They stated most likely when I sprayed the door it ran down in between the glass. I said that is a flaw. They said, "no the vents are there to allow heat out." I asked if they also were designed to let liquids inside the glass, they said no, I said "design flaw." They will do nothing. I also pointed out that nowhere in the owners manual is there a reference to this possibly happening. Our son's in laws have a 3 year old LG stainless steel with vents and have never had this problem. Maytag will not stand behind their products even when they are the ones at fault. Buy a different brand.

About a month or 2 after the warranty ran out - the main burner on the stove stopped working. I called Maytag to find out why and what the part would cost. They told me that they could send a repair tech out with the part for $450.00. I almost fell over. I have never been so disappointed with the stove. The glass top is impossible to keep clean and I had recently had the repair man out from the repair service that I normally use. He told me that it was not the starter that didn't work but the whole heating element was gone. So now I have a glass top electric stove with only 3 burners. Such a shame. Next time I will look into the cost of repairs for my appliances before I buy.

In the process of self cleaning mode, oven died with door locked. Thermostat and thermal fuse went out, couldn't get oven door open or control the situation in any way except pray for no fire and wait for hours till oven cooled down. Door could not be opened, it died in lock mode. Called repairman, already in to 2 repair bills, still not operating. Called Whirlpool and Maytag, no help!! But amazingly they have created a new kit for the blower unit in this oven, model # Mew7527AW00. I paid a bunch of money for this oven, which replaced a 40 yr. old oven that had been in it's place, operating fine, but it was Aqua Blue!! It's so sad that a huge Company as this will not help with an almost new Oven??

We bought a freestanding Maytag gas range and oven two years ago for our lake house, where we stay approximately two months out of the year. The oven has been used probably six or seven times total. The gas range works fine, and the oven pilot light goes on, gas seems to be flowing, but the oven does not get warm. It registers 200 degrees, but there is no heat inside it at all. $300 to fix!

We will be replacing this oven as soon as we can and it will NOT be a Maytag.

Have been very disappointed. The burners keep going out. The repairman said a bug could crawl on the element and break it. Then the temperature on burner on it works from med to high and any lower no heat. The dual burner is now backwards. The oven handle keeps falling off. Worst range I ever had and I thought it was a step up to Maytag.

I bought a Maytag Gemini double oven gas range 5 burners (model MGT8885XS000), even air true convection cooking. Within 4 months, 1 of the gas valves (knobs to turn gas on with) froze. I could not turn one of the top burners off. Maytag came out and fixed it. Three months later, another one froze. Again Maytag came out and fixed it. Our warranty ended. Over the next year, all five burner valves have frozen. I called Maytag, told them what happened. The most they could do for me was to give me the part half off. So I can pay $200.00 for parts and pay for a repairman to come out and fix it. The oven cost $2,000.00. I am still paying for it. Chances are if I repaired it would break again.

I purchased this five-burner gas stove two years ago. I have this stove repaired three times. The first and second problem with the stove is when I turned on the oven, it would never click on. This was a month after I purchased the stove. They sent someone over to correct the problem and that did not work. The third time someone came. He changed something in the oven and it started to work. After that, I continue to have trouble with the oven. When I have the top eyes on, the oven will not work. When I only turn on the oven, it will go to 350 only. It will cook for an half hour and then cut off. I smell gas in my house and my food is smelling like gas. I have stop using the oven. I did not purchase a stove to not use the oven. This is totally ridiculous!!! I am tired of this situation. Maytag needs to recall these ovens, so I can purchase an oven that works. I have thrown food away because it smells like gas - because the oven will cut off in the middle of cooking. I am very tired of this situation and when you call Maytag, their customer service is terrible. I will never buy Maytag's products again. Please help.

The oven works. However, there are two safety issues. First, the flat metal panel above the air vent and below the instrument panel gets extremely HOT. This is the location we can easily touch, especially when we operate the instrument panel. We almost burned our hands. Second, the edges of the unit are very SHARP. We almost cut our legs. These are serious safety issues. In addition, we/I tried to post a review at Maytag site pointing out these safety issues. The review was twice "moderate" (i.e., rejected). Even though I used to like Maytag, this experience changed my mind.

It was literally on fire. I emptied the contents of the drawer into the sink. Has anyone else had this problem?

Maytag Free Standing 30-inch Gas Range - In 2004 we bought our model MGR5775QDS gas range with 5-burners because it offered the most BTU variety for the price: 1 burner with a high BTU (16K), 1 with low (5K), plus 2 in mid-range (9.5K) and 1 with 12K. Within half a year of using the oven, we turned on the self-cleaning function. Big mistake. One cleaning cycle later, our oven refused to ignite. The cleaning cycle burned out the ignition unit. Can't remember if it's replacement then was under warranty but the repairman said this was a COMMON PROBLEM with Maytag and we best not use it EVER. In 2014 our cleaning lady mistakenly thinking she was doing us a favor, set the self-cleaning function. Once again, the ignition unit was destroyed. This time it's replacement was $350 with part and labor.

One and half months later, the oven is again non-functioning. This time our repair guy said the part is a very minor, inexpensive one BUT MAYTAG IS NO LONGER MAKING IT!!! The only way we'll get our oven back is if he can find another model and cannibalize it to fix ours. Are we disgruntled? Yes. Would we like to see a class action suit against Maytag for knowingly manufacturing a gas range with a malfunctioning self-cleaning unit that destroys oven parts? Yes. Will we ever again buy Maytag? Not on your life. A once stellar manufacturer gone down the tubes with a growing reputation for making junk. American-made appliances mean zip these days. Thank you for nothing, Maytag.

I purchase my first glass top stove; a Maytag. It came with a 10 year warranty on all elements and the glass top. As this is a first glass top I read through all instructions, there appeared no real warnings on what to do to maintain the glass; or rather what would damage or void a warranty. I simmered some maple syrup, and as it so often does when reaching the proper temperature, it boiled over. On a regular burner, one just uses a little elbow grease and your stove is returned its previous state. This actually pitted the glass, and as the warranty people at Maytag informed me voided the warranty, and seriously weakened the glass top suggesting it would be likely to break. Seriously?????? All of us boil stuff over on the stove top from time to time, and this damages the glass top and voids a warranty??? VERY DISAPPOINTED in Maytag's product and their warranty.

It's so unfortunately that this happened (we moved into this house with existing appliances that we cannot use...) and it seems to be a common problem, yet Maytag claims they have NOT received any complaints about this.

I have written to Whirlpool about complaints with this range and was very dissatisfied with response. The following were complaints on above range: Range does not have a light on it as the past ranges had. It is very much needed. Grates on burner are to high, therefore it takes longer for items in pot to heat up. Type of steel used on range is very thin and tiny, in other words very poor quality. This is what has happened since Whirlpool bought out Maytag. Quality of Steel that Maytag used is no longer since Whirlpool took over their products. This is true of All their Appliances (Refrigerators, Washers, Dryers, and Ranges). All meaning appliances manufactured by Whirlpool.

Manual knobs for turning on oven have been replaced by touch screens, these eventually wear out and are very costly to replace. If it works why change it. Drawers on bottom of range used to be larger, now they are narrow and smaller height wise. Residue on base of burner appears quite frequently and has to be cleaned even if no overspills occur. And why can't Whirlpool make quality merchandise as good as Maytag use to make. Regarding the physical appearance of Range it is very attractive in looks, however Looking good and functioning poorly with inadequate materials used in construction of Appliances outweighs benefits of looking good.

My wife and I regret not returning this appliance within 90 days of purchase. In the future we will not purchase Whirlpool or any other appliances manufactured by them if that is possible. Kenmore, LG and perhaps other appliances parts are made by Whirlpool. I received a response from Jake **, Whirlpool Corporation, Executive Office. The Comment from Jake that did not impress me was this: "While we regret you are dissatisfied with the current design of your Maytag Range, this is the model that you selected." His comment says too bad better luck next time. Letter was dated March 5, 2014 received on March 13th or 14th.

I sent a handwritten letter to Mr. Jeff Fettig on March 12th which was written on March 11, 2014. No response to handwritten letter to Mr. Jeff M. Fettig. The igniter broke in the bottom oven and when the third party non-Maytag repairman came out to fix it, he was unable to remove the bottom oven door. It is not flush and heat escapes when the bottom oven is on and it causes the top oven to get condensation. The repair man was directed from a technician from Whirlpool that he had to order a new seal and hinges. I don't want it fixed. I want a new one. I have called Customer Service for Whirlpool and the third party and the store in which I bought it from and everyone is pushing it off onto someone else. Like so many other consumers, I was drawn to the Maytag name because of what I thought was the high quality of their products and their stellar reputation. So when our old wall-mount oven failed, I sought out a replacement from the Maytag line. I purchased a model MEW5530WDDB17 in 2011 and had it professionally installed. It worked well for a couple of years. Then, suddenly, three of the numbers on the digital control panel stopped working, making it impossible to set the oven to any temperature that included a 4, a 2 or a 5. When I contacted Maytag, I was informed that the unit was out of warranty, but that I could schedule a service call. I had already researched this issue online and knew that the service person would inform me that I needed a new control board and that one could be installed for around $300, and that the new board would come with a 90 day warranty. When I asked the person to whom I was speaking, she said that she had no further information for me. I know that a lot of others have had this same issue with their Maytag range/ovens, and many of them agree with me that we will never purchase another Maytag product.

I have a Maytag Range that I bought new and installed 6-1/2 yrs ago for over $1200.00. I am single so I rarely use the ovens. The upper over I use maybe 1-2 times a month and the lower oven I may use once a month. The night of 3/7/2016, I used the cleaning cycle set on medium for both ovens. Yesterday, when I went to wipe the ovens down, I found the lower heating elements, on both ovens, had snapped.

The top oven's lower bracket had broken in 2 places, the first break is about 2" from the connection, on the right side leaving about an 7" gap. The lower oven's element had broken in only one place about 2" from where it connects into the back of the oven. This has to be a flaw in the either the design or the material. In the 45 yrs that I have been using ovens and stoves, my last stove was over 35 yrs. old, I have never had a heating element break. While I can understand a break at the connection, I can see no reason that the it would break in the center of one side on both lower elements in the same oven. I also noticed that lower heating elements are a much small gauge than the top which I find strange.

The other issue with the stove is the seals around the windows are not tight. I noticed dust was inside the two glass panes. The rubber seals were sunk down into the door, but Maytag said it was not their problem that I must have done something. When I remodeled my kitchen, I bought all Maytag products: 1.H20 Frig - The electronic panel went out after 3 months and had to be replaced. Manufacturing Defect - When the repairmen came to fix it, he told me to call Maytag which I did.

They refused to pay for the repair because I called a repairman first, even though the business was Maytag certified. Even though I said I would cancel the service call they said because I had made the appt. and they recommended I call Maytag, they would not cover the repair. 2. Stainless Steel Dishwasher (Cost over $700.00) - Motor went out after 3 yrs. 3. Microwave/Convection Oven (above the stove)- Convection light out after 4 months. The replacements are not inexpensive.

One other complaint I have is when I bought all my large kitchen appliance Maytag had a $600.00 rebate offer. Even though I mailed all the required documents to the company over 2 months before the rebate ended, I never received my rebate. The explanation I received was that the center that received my documents delayed forwarding them to the proper department that processed rebates and they were received after the offer ended. When I questioned the legality of the practice, I was told that this was all explained in the Terms and Conditions (ie: small print).

Tried cleaning cycle just to make sure. Oven failed. Same part.

Called Maytag, told them I just wanted my money back. They refused. They would only repair. I agreed to have a repairman from another company come out. I told Maytag what part it was. They sent the repairman out on Dec. 19/13 with the wrong part. I called Home Depot a second time. I had called them after I talked to Maytag. This time Home Depot said they would take back the oven once it was repaired and I could have a store credit towards another brand. The repairman fixed the oven on Jan.9/14. Home Depot picked up the oven and replaced it with a GE and I love it.

The part failing is a fuse in the top of the oven right at the front. Both repairman noted that a lot of heat is in this area during a self clean. When two ovens are having the same problem, I come to the conclusion that it is a design flaw and should be recalled. I only talked to one person at Maytag who was polite on the phone. That was the woman that got me the new oven. Everyone else was rude and hostile. I was even asked why I would clean a new oven. My experience was not a pleasant one at all. I purchased a Whirlpool oven. It is still under warranty at present. I used the self-clean oven feature just before Christmas, it wasn't that dirty but I wanted to have it clean for Christmas. The glass panels on the door had no stain or grease on it, until I used the self-clean feature, and now there is black staining inside the glass. This oven is not even 9 months old, and you cannot clean in between the glass. My second complaint which I believe is a very poor design on Whirlpool’s end is that the steam vents are very sharp. When I went to wipe off the black splash panel just under the vent tube, I cut my baby finger twice!!! And it is impossible not to slice your pinky.

I have been working with Whirlpool since this happened, and they finally issued me a new stove. I was to go back to where I purchased this product and pick another stove. So I did this yesterday and checked out all the Whirlpool stoves because the store says I have to purchases a Whirlpool. But every Whirlpool model has the same sharp steam tube vent, and I am presently waiting for the store manager to speak with his higher ups to see if they will let me pick a stove made by a different supplier.

I’m actually really shocked to learn that this could end up being a battle especially after I took the manager to every stove in his store made by Whirlpool and showed him each of the vents and just how sharp those vent tubes really are. You would think he would want to be aware of this and deal accordingly. So I post this to warn any potential customers of Whirlpool to check that steam vent on the left side of the stove, and stay away from it as it is very sharp and you can’t help but cut your pinky finger when you wipe across the stove.

We purchased our double free standing gas range about 6 years ago. Our top oven went out about 4 years after purchase. We purchased the extended warranty from Sears and it was fixed at no charge. About a year later, the top oven would not work again. We called Sears, our warranty was up so it would be a repair that we would have to pay for. We decided to go with the Maytag repair service since it is a Maytag appliance and we had to pay anyway. The repairman came in and said that the top box that holds the electronic in it had fried wires and it would have to be replaced. So for $480, he could replace it. It was more than likely caused by a power surge.

I just read that this also coincidentally happened to someone else so I find this cause to ask more questions. I also note that the top of the oven behind the burners where there is some sort of vent gets extremely hot (I accidentally touched it and had a blister the next day) when the oven is being operated. This is directly under the box that holds the electronic components. I would think that may have something to do with the wires frying since it is that hot directly below the panel. Could this be a defect in the building of the stove? Has anyone else had this instance beside the one person that I read about on your website?

This means that I can't cook a meal or have the family and friends I've invited come to my home for Christmas dinner. I need your help to provide better customer service than I've received to date through working with the Maytag customer service call center, and the service Maytag parts distributors Reliable Parts and WC May company have received from working through your factory website.

I've owned Whirlpool appliances since I built my home in 1989. When I remodeled my kitchen in August 2010 I chose a Maytag range, fridge, dishwasher and microwave as I'd had a good experience with your products for 21 years. You've built a great reputation for quality products and service, and I hope that you will continue to deliver on the commitment promised in your brand by resolving my problem quickly.

A burner control on my three-year-old gas range and oven (model #MGR6775; serial #D00934496) recently stopped working (a Maytag design defect - several screws were too weak to hold the cooktop at the correct level) and your customer service call center referred me to A&E Factory Service for the repair. A&E service staff have been to my home twice and are unable to fix my stove leaving me without a stove for the past two weeks and foreseeable future - as the necessary part, #W10213446, is shown as back-ordered with no estimated time of arrival. The WC May company let me know that your website shows an ETA of 2020 for this part on your factory parts website.

When the service repairman informed me that the part was indefinitely back-ordered today, I called the Maytag customer service center asking them to locate and expedite delivery of the part. The line staff and her supervisor let me know that they would not provide that service, as I do not have a pre-existing extended warranty contract for the range. I am willing to pay for expediting the part, but they won't give me that option. So I called the parts retailers covering the western U.S. myself to learn that Whirlpool's supply chain is so flawed that it cannot provide a part for a three-year-old range.

Whirlpool's core principles espoused on your website say that founders Lou, Emory and Fred Upton continually improved their washer; they cared about their community, their employees and their customers. They believed that there is no right way to do a wrong thing. It also states that what truly distinguishes Whirlpool Corporation is our commitment to building strong brands and a loyal consumer base. We're focused on maximizing the benefits of our worldwide network of resources, which is unmatched in the industry.

I believe that leaving me for up to two months without a range, so that I can't cook meals for myself every day, and for my family during the Christmas holidays is not living up to your brand promise. Please let me know as soon as possible how you will solve this problem.

The steam/heat produced by the oven has made the electronic (digital) control panel buckle. Yes! This is a thousand-dollar (plus) stove, and it has warped, through no fault of mine. When I want to cook something, I press the keypad to enter the number of cooking degrees that I want. The problem is, the control board is not working correctly. Regardless of my typing in 350, it will default to 100 degrees and stay at 100.

As a teacher, I do not have a huge income. I was disgusted with my recent repair estimate of $80 for a service call, and a quote of over $600 for the replacement part, plus some not-yet-determined labor installation costs. Calling the "800" phone number for Maytag connected me to some local people working as independent and overpriced contractors in Los Angeles, California. They are not MAYTAG employees, so they are not well-informed about the product.

I miss the time when manufacturers stood by their products, and had factory-trained and authorized employees available to make repairs. I bought this monster Maytag stove from Lowe's. I am disgusted with both companies. I have gone online to research buying my own part and hiring a local yokel to put it in. Most everyone I have encountered has been a rip-off artist. I am teaching your kids and grand kids to read and write, and you don't want to help me repair my stove without price-gouging. I can use the burners to some stove-top cooking. Life has become a hassle without being able to cook.

Almost one year to the date of purchase, my Maytag glass top range stopped working. The oven is still operational, but the range top does not work. The knobs turn and the surface lights go on but the elements no longer heat up. Trying to get a response from a real person at Maytag was impossible. I was put through a myriad of prompts that led me to scheduling a service appointment. I called AppliancesMart and got a wonderful sales person who said a service call would cost me 60 to 80 dollars and that he had not heard of repairs below $300 for this type of problem. Needless to say I am very angry and disappointed that I had not done more research before I purchased this item. If I can prevent one more person from making this same mistake, I will get some modicum of satisfaction out of this horrible experience.

Purchased this maytag oven from home depot November 2011. Oven has been working properly since install. The top burner controls do operate too easy and you can just brush up against the stove and turn the gas on which I seen here was mentioned. My major issue is the stainless steel finish that was applied. It appears that this metal was not properly prepared prior to applying the finish. The oven door is with rust blisters. The metal under the coating is causing this problem. The finish in the other areas is with no problems... No chemicals have been used to clean this oven.

Customer service of maytag stated that this stove only has a one year warranty... so if you buy any maytag just remember one year and when it breaks down the cost to fix will be more than a new defective maytag stove. I will not purchase another maytag product and I do not recommend that this manufacturer be considered when purchasing any appliance.

Updated on 02/13/2021: Maytag stove purchased 15 years ago for about $500. Replaced "mother board" about 5 years ago which wasn't cheap, but otherwise, stove has performed with no problems and still looks and behaves like a new stove.

Original review: Our 6-7 year old well cared for Maytag range oven recently stopped working. After a service call for diagnostics, it was determined the electronic module controlling the clock and all oven functions was dead. We were told by the Maytag service tech the module cost was 300$. That cost plus labor for less than an hour, plus the 60$ diagnostic visit came to almost 500$ which is close to cost of a new stove. The technician answered yes to my question, "Do you replace a lot of these?" He also said the cause may be power fluctuations making me think that surely there is a way to prevent this kind of failure. So, since the price seemed exorbitant, I wrote Maytag to inquire about causation/prevention, etc. I received a fairly prompt and polite reply with totally no explanation. I wrote another email with relatively the same results. I don't recommend buying an electronically controlled Maytag stove.

I am fairly happy with this range's performance. I do have a couple of issues on the design. I would like to be able to simmer at a lower temp on a front burner, as I use a large stock pot and a pressure canner occasionally. The smaller BTU burners are on the back and the large pots do not fit over them. I haven't noticed any problems with the upper oven's performance...seems to do what I ask it to, including the broiler. I have not tried the lower oven or the convection feature at all yet. Nor have I had to use the self-cleaning feature, yet...almost afraid to after reading other people's nightmares, though.

My biggest concern is the lack of safety with the knobs on the front of the stove top. Several times, the gas has been turned on by my cat simply walking across the front of the stove and stepping on a knob. This allows gas to leak until I notice. It happened again early this morning just before 4:00 am. I was awakened by a smell, which I thought was a dead mouse somewhere (we live in the country in a 100 year old house - mice do get in, thus the cats). I searched the whole house, looking for a dead mouse, until I finally walked into the kitchen and heard the hissing from the stove. I'm glad I didn't try to light a candle while I was still thinking "dead mouse!"

After turning off the gas and removing all of the knobs, I opened all the windows to let the house air out. I SHOULD NOT have to remove the knobs every time my stove is not being used! You do have to depress the knobs slightly to ignite the burners, but it's too easy. Obviously, the simple act of a little cat putting its paw on the knob is enough to open the gas. This is a serious flaw that could kill someone! Something needs to be done to correct this before someone is killed or a house full of propane or natural gas is ignited and explodes!!! I will be reporting this to Maytag and hope that they will voluntarily issue a recall to have this problem fixed...Wish me luck.

Upon contacting Whirlpool Corp about the problem through their online chatline, email, regular mail and phone, we were informed (quite rudely I might add) that Whirlpool does not warranty cosmetic deficiencies over 30 days after product purchase.

This is American Quality?? Since this has occurred the retirement home we are building will have no Whirlpool Corp products in it which includes: Maytag, Whirlpool, KitchenAid, Amana, Jenn-Air, Brastemp, Consul, Bauknecht, Gladiator, or any of the product lineup from the Chinese company Hefei Sanyo which they are buying. The service man who came Monday could not unlock the door, and said he had to order a part and would return the next Tuesday if the part arrived.

I purchased Model #MGR7661XB (Gas Cooktop and Oven) in November 2009. From the very beginning, we realized it was a mistake and looking back, we should have sent it back.

The finish, both on the stove as well as the burner racks (the removable grate that the pan sits on when cooking) has some sort of coating that instead of repelling grease and food seems instead to actually attract it. Any hot liquid or grease actually seems to melt into the finish and becomes impossible to remove. Essentially, our stove was ruined within the first week. We have even tried putting a scouring pad on a wooden spoon and scrub with as much force as we can muster - to no effect. Short of using a putty knife, and completely destroying the finish, I can't think of any way to resolve it.

As for Self-Cleaning ... yeah, right. Use for entertainment purposes only. It doesn't clean at all.

The latest issue is now the oven lights about 20% of the time. The broiler still works and we have discovered that we can "trick" the stove by allowing the broiler to heat up the stove to about 200 degrees first - then, when the oven is already hot, the oven part will ignite.

Speaking of igniting ... from the beginning, this stove has the loudest ignition system I have ever heard. You can hear it ignite "click/pop" from two rooms away and the oven cycles on/off every 10 min. or so. It is very annoying.

All I can say is, never again will I buy another Maytag. This was supposed to be the "upgraded" sealed burner model (which also is impossible to clean). This stove is only 4 years old but it was a mistake from the beginning. Like I said, I should have returned it after the first week.

These fans make an irritating, loud, whistling noise. The dealer responded to my complaint, pulled the oven out and performed a complete system test. He then called engineers at the Whirlpool factory, who told him that the fans were a recent redesign made because the previous design didn't satisfactorily cool the electronic control circuit and that there was nothing to be done about the noise. After several weeks, the oven, when in use, continues to stink of overheated electronics. I fear it won't last long.

Note that my old GE model, which also had electronic controls, didn't run a fan at all unless both ovens had been on for some time or the self-cleaning feature had been on for a while. And it didn't make a loud noise.

I feel that Maytag should stand behind their products and should have offered to send me replacement parts. I know I would have had to pay labor for installation. Their answer was I should have purchased the extended warranty. However, one should not have to purchase extended warranties for products. I had every confidence in Maytag. Why else would I have purchased my first Maytag product? I should have stuck with Whirlpool, which I was recently told, now owns Maytag. Maytag customer service personnel were extremely unhelpful. Even after the fire department put out the fire and removed the stove from my kitchen to my front porch, they spent more time investigating the situation to make sure my home was safe than the "certified Maytag repair person" that was dispatched out by Maytag to service the range.

This stove is only 6 months old and still under warranty with Maytag. The service person they sent out did not take the stove apart and spent less than 5 minutes looking it over; then he determined that it was a grease fire caused by "owner’s negligence". I disagreed with him and told him I have been cooking for many years and thought he did not do a thorough job to determine the problem with the range. He got very upset with me, took his bag and left without leaving me a service slip. I asked Maytag to send someone else out and explained to them that this service person did not do a sufficient job in examining the range, nor did he perform any kind of "service" to get the range back in working condition. Maytag claims they will not send anyone else out, and there is nothing more they will do for me. They say it is my fault it caught fire; and if I want it fixed, I have to pay for it myself even though it is still under warranty with them.

My stove is still on my porch where it has been since Christmas day. I then visited Maytag's Facebook page and corresponded with others whom have had similar issues with their products and the lack of customer service from this company. Maytag has now blocked me from commenting on their Facebook page. The customer service rep on that site asked me to email her all my information about the range and my issues with it, and she assured me she would respond to the matter. As of yet, I have heard nothing back. I am terribly dismayed by the way I have been treated by this company, their so-called certified service technician, and that they do not honor their warranties or stand by their products. I am cooking for a family of 5 in a 12-year-old microwave (which is not a Maytag by the way) after spending over $600.00 on a brand new range.

I purchased the gas stove in June of 2012 from Home Depot, along with a Maytag microwave (Model MGR7662WB4). Home Depot installed both items. After trying to reach into the microwave about the stove, the knob would turn itself on with me brushing up against it. This happened several times, and one time the flame shot up and I almost got burned. The last time it happened, I did not realize that the knob was turned very slightly and gas was coming out of the burner for several hours. If it were not for a friend stopping over, I would not have considered the odor being from the stove. I assumed that the drains were probably backed up and started to add cleaners to the toilet bowls. I had to open the windows for several hours to get the smell out. So I called customer service 2 times. The first person said I would have to pay for the call if the problem was not Maytag and I said, “Forget it.”

Then I went into Home Depot and the salesperson in there gave me another number to call for service. They came last Friday and said that he had seen at least 10-15 calls about this and since the unit was working as "designed" and no recalls, there was nothing they could do. “Just wait and see if a recall would be put into place and I would be on the list to fix it. In the meantime just keep the knobs off (which I was doing already out of fear).”

My sister just bought a Whirlpool gas range this summer as well and asked if I could try her knob and it worked perfectly. Again I called CS and was told they could not send me those at no charge and that it would cancel out the warranty. So I asked her what I have to do before I or someone else gets injured and she said that until there was a recall, there was nothing they could do. I told her I was going to contact Consumer Report as well as Pam Zekman on Channel 2 news in Chicago. End of story; I still have the problem and no knobs on the "new" stove. Anything you can do to help please contact me, and thank you in advance.

After only 4 years, the door handle of my $1200 range simply fell off. This seems to be a common problem with this range (Maytag Gemini Electric Double Oven), but what is inexplicable is why a part that perhaps is exposed to the most amount of pressure on a daily basis (opening and closing the oven door) would be held on with a plastic fitting! It seems like planned obsolescence to me. Apparently, the part is $100 (once shipping is included) from Maytag and for that I get the pleasure of taking the entire door apart to install it! Garbage.

I purchased my Maytag gas range (model number mGR7665WB) on Thanksgiving 2011! It worked fine until May 2012. Then the bake function just stopped working. If I select bake, the temperature fails to rise above 100F and a sickening gas smell fills the kitchen! PC Richards, where I purchased the product from, sent a repairman who took two weeks and two visits to fix the part! Everything was working fine until six months later during cooking for a full house on the day of my daughter's birthday party. Same problem, bake function failed again along with gas smell!

I was pregnant at the time and very worried about the gas smell! We had to leave the house a few days after that due to the hurricane and when I returned, everything worked great for a few weeks only to fail on Christmas Eve leaving me to cook the meat for our Christmas Day dinner in a neighbor's house, highly embarrassing and inconvenient! Now Maytag and PC Richards are only able to repair at a high cost to me which I can't afford and feel I shouldn't be responsible for as this product has been consistently unreliable and possibly dangerous. I am especially concerned about the gas smell as I have a newborn and a 3-year old in our small apartment!

The microwave quit last month and I have yet to replace it. I bought Maytag because for the longest time it was such a positive household brand name. Unfortunately, with 2 appliances less than 5 years old and out of warranty, I will never purchase one of their products again! I will spend the extra money and go with LG especially after reading some of the reviews on here on Maytag’s products (there are over 192 complaints on the Maytag ranges and ovens alone on this one forum).

I can see by the comments on this page that the letter I sent to Whirlpool was in vain. I purchased a Maytag double oven gas range (MGT8775XW00) from our local Lowe's. We were remodeling a home we had purchased. Unfortunately (as anyone who's been involved in home remodeling/renovation knows well), it took much longer than I thought it would before range could be installed. It was several months later before it was installed. First time I tried to use the top oven, it would heat to set temp (I assume) and then shut down. The larger bottom oven had erratic heating. I tried adjusting oven temps but it was a guessing game. We had Fix-Rite Corp out twice and they were puzzled by the problem. Two times, they replaced the control panel.

After the second repair, it was decided the only thing to fix the kitchen was a complete gutting, new cabinets and floor. The oven was pulled out before I had a chance to use it again. By the time we got the kitchen finished and range reinstalled, I discovered the oven still had the same problems and the broiler would ignite sometimes and when it did, the flame would go out after 30 to 60 seconds and would not come back on. By this time, we were past the one-year warranty. After the first repair did not work, I tried to get Lowe's to take it back and assured them I would purchase another range from them. They said they could not do that. Now I can see I'm going to end up buying another range. Be assured it won't be Maytag and it won't be Lowe's. I also own and use Maytag washer and dryer.

I looked online and found other people who reacted the same way to their "new oven smell". But now we are on the 4th time using the oven. We did a self-clean and I thought that would help but no, it smells like someone is pouring gasoline into my home. I smelled it in pockets throughout my house. I have had the gas company out twice and a repairman. They all cannot figure out the problem. I looked online to see if other people were having a gas problem from this model and I am not finding it. This model MGR5875QDW range is very difficult to use. When you press "broil" for instance, the display says "set." There is absolutely no indication of how to set. Therefore, no "broil". The same thing happens when you try to use the "clean" function. It is virtually impossible to use the control panel; it is just too difficult. Therefore, most of the functions are not usable.

The kicker though is that the handle comes off. During the extended warranty period, a technician came out and fixed it. The toughest part of this job is to get the oven door back on. I tried for 2 hours everything I could think of. Then, I got an idea to use Maytag's live chat. They told me that I would have to call for service and pay for a service call to get the door back on. I told them that their "clean" cycle is too painful to use, so I am assuming I am not the only one who has removed the door to clean the oven. Pay for a service call every time I want to clean my oven or fix their defective handle design because the handle falls off every 2 years? That is not acceptable.

We have a Maytag Gemini Double Oven Range Model MGR6775ADW. This is a gas range and it was purchased in 2006. This past Saturday afternoon after cleaning the dishes, the igniters on the range starting ticking on their own. I checked to make sure the knobs were not on and they weren't. The ticking finally stopped after about 2 minutes. After the ticking stopped, we planned on going out for a walk. Fortunately we didn't. In about 10 minutes after the igniters quit ticking, the range burst into flames. Flames were in the top oven and shooting out the vent holes and the holes where the knobs are located. Coal black smoke was also pouring out of the vents.

I quickly pulled the stove away from the wall to prevent the cabinets from starting on fire and I pulled the plug to shut off electricity from the stove. The flames subsided shortly after pulling the plug. The kitchen and house smelled of burning wire insulation and plastic. After doing some research on the internet, I found out that many other people have had the same problem. I reported this to Maytag Customer Service and they wanted to send a repair technician to fix it. I told them I didn't want it fixed but wanted it out of my house. I told them I didn't trust the range since some people reported they had it fixed and the fire occurred again.

I wouldn't be able to sleep or go out anywhere knowing that the kitchen range could erupt into flames at any time. The factory authorized repair technician, from A&E, did come to inspect the damage and to report back to Maytag on his findings. He admitted that he wouldn't even trust the range in his house. After paying $1300 for this range and only getting 6 yrs. of use, I feel that we deserve some restitution from Maytag on this badly designed and dangerous piece of equipment they have been selling. Do not buy the Maytag Gemini range. This is a bad and dangerous product.

In a way, l feel fortunate and you will read why in a minute. l have been reading Maytag complaints specifically looking to see if what happened to me has happened to others. Apparently, it has. We purchased our Maytag range, model MER57750AB, in 2005. We too have had some repairs done under warranty. Unfortunately, we live in a day and age where technology isn't always our friend. The old appliances that were not electronically driven lasted forever; today's appliances do not. However, when something with potentially serious consequences happens that is not technology related, it rates in the 'who is the idiot who designed that?' category. I am talking about the exploding exterior glass oven doors.

Two weeks ago, the oven door handle on our range came unscrewed on one side. I continued using the appliance, planning on repairing it myself when l found the time. (I used to tinker around the garage with my dad when I was little and therefore, I have great repair skills in several areas.) Last week, I was standing in front of the stove when all of a sudden, the glass panel dropped from the door! It landed straight up on the floor and fell forward so the top edge of the glass landed on my toes (the toes that I had surgery on for six hammertoes last November and are still sore!). Needless to say, l was shocked that this happened, and even more so, I was grateful that it did not break or either of my two grandbabies were around at the time. Then, I looked at the glass and saw that it was attached to the door using only eight small pieces of double sided sticky mounting foam. I mean small! As I said before, idiot!

Did they not think that the heat from the oven would eventually wear out the ability of the tape to do its job? I gave up reading after I found enough complaints about the mishaps with the glass on the oven doors to realize that there is a definite problem here. I did not see where the glass fell intact, as mine did. Therefore, I am suggesting that the exploding glass panels more than likely gave way, as mine did, and shattered when they hit the floor. Should there be a product recall for this? Absolutely! The question is how does a recall get put in motion? As others have stated, this could have been a horrible disaster had little ones been around. I pray that doesn't happen to anyone.

We bought a Maytag Gemini double oven in June 2007. It has been a problem from day one. It arrived with a damaged door. They reordered and replaced it. Through the next few months, I became very discouraged with the oven. I bake a good bit and was always used to an oven with fairly accurate temperature. This oven will not reach or sometimes just won't maintain a steady temperature. After a couple of service calls, I gave up. I now raise the temperature setting about 50-75 degrees higher that the recipe requires.

Naturally, I don't always get the best results. However, that isn't the thing that really bothers me. These ovens have three ignitors. About every six months, one breaks. The cost is over $200.00 each time. The ovens/broiler are highly unreliable. After mixing up something or on an important holiday, one may find that the oven won't light. There's no warning! It is simply gone. I will never again buy a Maytag! I called Maytag and questioned them about the "lemon law." I was told that the same piece had to break three times in one year. That is crazy, when the entire thing doesn't and has never worked well.

It sometimes would not heat up to the proper temp or sometimes would get there but not maintain it. We have had several service calls all for this same problem. Each time they would replace things... nothing worked! We called Maytag and they said they wouldn't replace the unit until the same part had failed 3 times. Well, the service company came out 5-6 different times in the first year and replacing the main panel twice and the sensor and some other thingies I don't even remember. Pretty soon the warranty was running out, so I bought an extended warranty due to the fact that the unit had never been fixed. They sent out two different service companies who also were unable to fix the unit. It is now 18 months since we bought it, and Maytag refuses to do anything since "it is out of warranty" and the extended warranty company will only replace the unit up to 75% of its cost. So yes, we are very angry with Maytag and the way they won't stand behind their product and their total disregard for their customers.

I bought a Maytag range (MET-8775) last year, because my wife loves to bake and wanted the "double" oven. The oven never did brown properly, despite trying different temperatures and cookware. So, I called the 1-800 number in the manual. I was told they would have a technician come out and check it, and they assured me it was under warranty. The technician arrived, and since it was close to the end of the warranty period, I showed him the receipt for purchase. I got another assurance that this visit was covered by the warranty, before anything was actually done. Well, he checked it out and eventually calibrated the temperature. That helped a little, but still, it doesn't brown very well.

About a month later, I got an invoice from the service company that dispatched the tech telling me Maytag will not cover the visit under warranty. After a long call with Maytag (now Whirlpool, I believe), I was told that since the calibration instructions were in the manual, it wasn't covered! Well, why wasn't the thing calibrated to begin with? And your average customer is expected to have an accurate thermometer/gauge to set it and know whether the temp is off or not? Why was I told twice that it would be covered?

If either the lady on the 1-800 line or the tech who came had told me this wasn't covered, I would have argued a case right then. As it turned out, I had no choice but to get billed for something I was assured was covered. And as I said, it still doesn't brown right; and we had tried different temperatures before. We are preparing a major kitchen remodel, and it's hard to believe that Maytag/Whirlpool would so thoroughly piss off a customer and potential future customer over an $80.00 service call.

The cost of repair was $500 for the element, motherboard and installation. We have owned other brands that lasted 20 years and worked fine with no repairs. My folks have used Maytag for over 50 years with no problems. Who and where is this junk manufactured now? China? I will never buy another Maytag product!

Our Maytag oven (not sure model) in the first year started doing crazy things with the oven computer. The oven would shut off and come back on and the display would be garbled. Also when my girlfriend tried to pull the turkey out, the rack fell off the left side and dumped all the juices into the oven. She almost got burned and there was a lot of smoke. The freakin' rack should never fall off! Also our dishwasher is on its second control board.

I lived by "Mr. Maytag" and his airplanes/helicopters at Crest airpark in Covington, WA. I wish I still did. I'd like to ask him what he thinks of his crappy products. You get nothing for your money anymore. I'm not sure but I'll bet both of my problems with these products have something to do with saving a buck by making this crap in Mexico or some other *** hole. I'm just glad Maytag doesn't make airplanes or medical equipment.

Fire Danger. We had a power outage and my Maytag gas range/double oven (Model: MGR6875ADS) was dead after the power came back on. We figured it was the control board and braced for the expense to replace it. A few days later, I plugged the oven back in just to see if it would work and it did! The control panel came back on and we were up and running. The good news end there. On Christmas Eve, we came home to a house full of smoke with fire alarms buzzing. A butcher block style cutting board that was on top of the range with Santa's cookies on it was on fire. Twenty more minutes and the house would have been gone.

Wow! I wished I had reviewed this page before purchasing a Maytag. We bought a new Maytag Range (#MGR5751BDD) from Menard's in March 2008. Within a couple of months, we were out of a stove. I was lighting the burner to make dinner for my family (it is a gas range) and all the burners started making a clicking noise and they caught on fire. Luckily, my husband was nearby and took the fire extinguisher to it.

We thought for sure that the house was going to be gone. We contacted Maytag and they had a guy come out (wasn't the friendliest and cted like he could care less). He stated there was wiring that was bad but because we took the fire extinguisher to it we probably voided the warranty. What? He would submit a report to Maytag.

Maytag reluctantly gave us some money but not near enough to cover the stove that was only a couple of months old. Now, I can't use the new range that is 2.5 years old. It pops and spurts because the regulator needs to be replaced. The bad thing is by the time we pay for a repairman and the new part, it will cost us a lot of money we can't afford. This stinks.

The stove has never cooked evenly, and they replaced both heating elements, and it still does not bake properly. I just called customer service, because my pies for the holidays burned once again. They told me there was nothing they could do. I cannot believe a customer that spent this much money with Maytag (purchased a washer, dryer, microwave and oven), gets no help from the company.

The transmission has been replaced in the washer, and is still noisy. The dryer is also very noisy. The stove does not bake properly, and the microwave quit within a few months of purchasing. The quality of Maytag is very poor, and the customer service is obviously poor too, when they said there is nothing they can do for me. I guess they do not care about customer loyalty.

Although Maytag promptly sent a repairman, he arrived without parts and left within 5 minutes without fixing anything. He said he would order parts. Whenever they were delivered to us, by mail, we should call again to schedule another repair. But he warned he was prohibited from coming out for another 7 days.

So far, I've been without an oven for almost 3 weeks and there has been no action or information. My calls to Maytag produced nothing, except confirmation they show the repair as "open" since they do not actually distribute parts, and the repairman is with an outside company. And then same problem, it was replaced again, and again the same problem. The warranty to cover stove was extended by 6 months. The enamel on the round magnetic cover for the burner is also chipping away. I was told that this chipping of the enamel is a cosmetic problem and does not affect the functionality of the stove problem.

A repair technician was sent out at my request to see firsthand the problem grates. I was told by him that if it occurred again, the manufacturer needs to be made aware of the defective grates. He noted that the enamel covering on the grates was not uniform. I have been told by Maytag supervisor today that she will get back to me within 3-5 days and let me know what is going to be done. I have had gas ranges before, but this is the first time this problem has occurred and its continuation is unacceptable. Is there anything further I can do to ensure I have stove grates that do not chip continuously?

I purchased a Maytag gas range about five years ago. After about two months, I noticed that the paint on the burner grates was flaking off. I called the company and they told me it was cosmetic. I have since bought two sets of replacement grates. I call the newest ones my "dress grates", which I put on the stove when I am having company. I use the damaged ones for everyday cooking. Last year, the panel flashed. It "locks" constantly. And often, the door would not open, unless we pulled the stove away from the wall, unplugged it, and that cleared the computer.

So, after months of unsuccessful door openings, the handle finally fell off completely. And the door locks whenever the oven is turned on. You have to finish your cooking, press cancel, and wait until the oven cools off, and then it will unlock. I have tried pushing aluminum foil into the latch hole on the door but have not been successful. Sometimes I just put a spoon in the door to keep it ajar while cooking. This can't be energy efficient. Of course, it is out of warranty. I saw a similar complaint about the burner grates. Also, the paint has chipped in several places on the cook top and the disks are all chipped. I am never ever going to buy a Maytag product. Oh, by the way, I called a repairman. I paid $65 for him to tell me that to replace the lock mechanism and the door handle, it would be $400. I can buy a new stove for that, but not a Maytag.

I purchased a Maytag Electric Range (Model: MER7662WS1) at Lowe's in February 2011. After few months, we found many rusty areas on the stainless oven door and on the stainless drawer.

On 9/8, I called Maytag at 1-800-688-9900 to complain that stainless steel is not supposed to rust. A representative took the initiative to schedule A&E Factory Service to come to my house for a warranty repair, and assigned me an order # 40629499. I did not request for this service call and naturally, I regard this as a warranty service or a service of quality check of a product.

On 9/19, a technician came to check the rusty area and confirmed that the stainless steel have rusted and the rust will eat through the panel. The technician called Maytag, and got the answer that Maytag will not pay for his visit because it's not under warranty. The technician then checked the warranty manual, but could find not any statement that neither rust is cosmetic nor rust is not covered. The technician asked me to pay $132 for his five-minute checking service. I was so upset and called Denice at A&E Factory Service at 1-800-905-9505 to bill Maytag directly. She ignored my request and said that I should take it to Maytag.

After a couple of hours waiting, holding and transferring, I explained to two Maytag customer service representatives my problem, only to get a "Sorry, it's not covered, it's cosmetic," reply. I insisted talking to a manager and finally got Melinda at Care Solution Team. She, too, refused to waive the charge for me and claimed herself as a supervisor and decision maker and there's no one above her who could resolve this issue.

I emphasized that A&E service call was authorized by Maytag, I did not order the service. Who would have thought that a service authorized by manufacturer is not covered under warranty? Besides, this representative failed to inform me that rust would not be covered, she should have known better. Therefore, I believe that the person who initiated the service call to A&E should be held accountable. But Melinda never wanted to agree with this logic and kept saying, "We don't force customer to have home service. You are liable for the bill."

She refused to pay for the service and forced me to pay the bill from the mistake they made. She even refused to give out the person's ID # and name of the person who called A&E. She only documented my complaint--what's the point of their documentation? If this is the tactic that Maytag is using to categorize rust as cosmetic (if rust can damage material, then you should not call it cosmetic), and ban customers from claiming the rust damage so they can use poor quality of stainless steel on their appliances to save the cost, then, it is dishonest to advertise that this oven is stainless.

A representative even said that Maytag should have emailed me with the confirmation of service call and noted that it's a non-warranty service. Also, A&E should have informed me before arrival that the service is not covered. All these were not true. First, I did not receive such email from Maytag or Whirlpool. If Maytag would have warned me with non-covered policy such as this, they should have the courtesy to call me in case the email was unreliably routed to spam box. A&E only informed me that they are coming the next day, but no such thing as telling me that the service will not be covered. Even their technician did not know about the non-covered issue, and had to call Maytag today to find out.

Had the person who scheduled the service told me that the rust on the stainless panels is not covered under warranty, will I still allow the service call and agree to pay $132 for a five-minute checkup and watch the technician leave without performing any repair? I asked Melinda to let me talk to her supervisor but she said that there's no one who can talk to me, and the only way to appeal is to write to the company's executives.

The address is: Whirlpool Corporate Office

553 Benson Rd Benton Harbor, Michigan 49022. I doubt that an appeal will help me at all. I will take this matter to small claim court, I won't let them force me to pay the bill when I am not at fault.

Unfortunately, we have had to fix the digital display twice since we got this oven, at over $400 for each fix. The first fix was in 2005 and the last fix was last month, in 2010. In addition to the initial cost of the oven, we have spent over $800 just to be able to read the basic information of time, temperature, etc. of the oven. Obviously, when we acquired the oven, we never suspected we would need to spend over $800 just to be able to read the displays. This is a huge hidden cost and, we think, points to a serious problem with the design and the parts used to repair this product.

We contacted Maytag first by email, then by phone. Maytag representatives simply said that the oven is out of warranty and that there's nothing which can be done. We are realistic about the lifespan of products, and we absorbed the cost of the first expensive fix to our Maytag oven without complaint. I believed I was buying a quality unit since it was a Maytag. Guess I bought the commercial that showed the Maytag repair man bored because he had no repairs to keep him busy. Well, I had at least 4 visits from the repairman within 1 year. This double oven has a stove top that does not clean and scratches very easily.

I also found the top oven specifically cooked unevenly (half the pan of cookies burned, other half undercooked). They told me the top oven was not meant for things like cookies?! They did replace the stove top 4 (yes four) times, but the problem is in the design. The stove top has a texture, even on the burners. Since my unit was still under warranty, I wanted Maytag to replace it for a different model (if they had one with a different stove top design) but they insisted it was user error, not a design issue since it had not been recalled.

Bottom line, I took one of the stove top replacements to the store where I bought the range. They took one look at the texture and immediately offered to take the unit back! Maytag does not equal quality.

We purchase a Maytag 30" Gemini range MGR6875ADW on 1/2/2006. In May 2006, the unit ejected a flame at the burner knob closest to the control panel. It was fixed by installing plastic discs and rubber inserts to prevent water from entering this area (where the gas ignitor control was located).

On 9/1/2010, the exact issue happened again. We called Maytag who agreed to repair the unit, but we wanted the unit replaced given the serious fire concern. When Maytag learned of the repair cost, they offered to replace the unit at a cost of $900 to us. We scoffed at that and requested equal replacement at no cost. 2-3 calls later, they were willing to replace the unit for $500.

After much research, it's clear there's a design defect with this unit which explains their eagerness to replace the unit - especially after they commented we would need to surrender the unit. I have contacted the State of Maine AG's office, the US Consumer Product Safety Commission, and the State Fire Marshall's office. I need help to get this unit replaced at no cost. Maytag has established warranty reserves just for events like this. I'm just asking for a new unit, not an upgrade. Can someone please help?

Other than lifetime of replacing cartridges, having a smooth top might solve the daily unsightly issue. It might help solve this problem. Otherwise, we will press on to the new Consumer Protection Bureau, Elizabeth **** and ask her to do what was done to Toyota and stop corporations from robbing people of funds to save and pay bills then prepare for retirement, by making quality products. I did not realize all the problems that came with this unit that I would be responsible for, such as moisture getting between the glass front of the range and staining the glass, which looks terrible like I haven't cleaned it.

I believe this unit is a "lemon." It takes forever to boil water and almost 1/2 hr to preheat oven to 350 degrees! The refrigerator has to be defrosted about every 2 months, it freezes up between the freezer and the refrigerator compartment. The dishwasher is making a terrible noise and does not clean the dishes. We got a recall notice on the dishwasher and someone is supposed to come out and replace that part. I don't think that is going to help, it doesn't clean anyway. We called Sears repair, and they sent out one of their technicians. He replaced the computer that malfunctioned and for a mere sum of $385.55, we were back to washing. To me that is just wrong. The computer for $385 is a lot of money, and of course, the warranty was for a year. They did offer a 5-year new guarantee for another $300, but said he had never had to replace it more than once in the same machine.

The oven door on my double pane door is collecting dirt from underneath, to the point that it is so embarrassing. I contacted repair service to come out and look to see if the seal or something was broken. He said it's normal because the oven sits on a hardwood floor! Good answer, huh? Anyway, he told me to put a rug in front of it to help with the dust flying up into it. He also said he could take it apart and clean it, but it will only keep happening.

I have never had any kind of problem with a stove collecting dust and dirt in the glass. To me, a woman's stove represents how she keeps her home. By looking at this dirty thing all the time, it looks like I don't clean at all. Do I have a complaint or do you think it's just petty? I would appreciate a small suggestion or answer. I don't think I can have this ugly thing in my home much longer and I don't believe I should have to pay to have it cleaned every year. Thanks.

Lots of money invested in all these things and guess what--junk! I'm stuck with brand new junk. I've spent money on my dishwasher to be fixed sum of $300.00 and it never worked right that’s until my husband fixed it. Now my range, oh yeah, that breaks on Christmas Eve with 20 plus people for dinner. Let’s not forget the washing machine that’s now acting weird. What do people do when stuff breaks call the company? Well, good luck with that because it’s the worst experience that I’ve ever had with a company. I have already paid for someone to come out twice to fix my dishwasher and that wasn’t done right. So I want them to pay for the service call and parts for my range. Guess what--they will not pay for a service call only parts. I would be okay with this if I wasn't stuck with all new things that keep breaking.

My husband and I have our own business and I would never treat my customers the way I've been treated. Never have I been so displeased with a company and its products. I'm mad that I’ve got about $10,000 in appliances and they can't pay for one service call! Come on, they’re a billion dollar company--they need to get it together. I would start with the employees I was disrespected and talk to nasty. Good luck with A&E repair people because that’s another whole problem. Maytag should get a better repair service! I feel as a consumer that I've been cheated out of my hard working money! I hope that at least one person will really look into other appliances and not get taken for a lot of money and left with things that keep breaking down!

The woman told me to punch the self-clean button and the lock button at the same time. I did so. The self-clean cycle started. In less than an hour, the timer button started screaming. Thinking the cycle was completed, I punched cancel. About 5 hours later, the oven had plenty of time to cool and the door was locked. I called them back and was told it is out of warranty and I pleaded just tell me how to cancel the lock so I can open the door.

The woman told me to punch the clean button, turn the breaker power off and nothing opened the door. I was told it was my responsibility to keep my stove in good working order. I begged. I was told it was out of warranty and they would send a tech out as my Maytag refrigerator had a recall on a compressor part. After they put the part on, the frig dumps defrost water on the floor and water on the freezer compartment floor. It was just fine until they sent someone out to "fix what was working". Now I must defrost over 3-5 days. This has been going on since April. They told me the stove part I need to get the door open is no longer available or for that matter any other parts for that stove. They offered to connect me to the sales department to see if there are any "deals" on new appliances. I told them there is no way in hell that I will ever buy another anything with the name Maytag on it.

The stove and refrigerator were very expensive. I am 68 and on Social Security with a very small income. I cannot afford to go into debt again. Another thing, what about the environmental issues? Are these people not responsible for deliberately making their appliances un-repairable due to discontinuing mfg. of parts for repair? There is not one scratch or blemish on either appliance. My last stove lasted me 35 years from Sears. I need help. Maytag was arrogant once they got my money. I am diabetic and these new appliances should have served me for the rest of my life.

We bought from Sears in 2003 a Maytag stainless steel convection range which cost us more than one thousand dollars and since the beginning, it seemed to me that something was wrong with it. Sometimes when I ignited the burners, I would hear a small exploding sound and the flame would come out like a big flash. I got scared of being burned. Then it was the broiler, with the same sound. I turn on the broiler and I have to wait a long time for it to ignite. I do have to open the oven door several times and then that is when it ignites sending out a big blast of flame and sound, and other times I have to shut it off because it will not ignite at all and I have to run to the grill outside to broil my food. Then the coil that goes around inside the oven door became damaged from the heat. We called Sears and one of their contractors came, charged us $280 to change it. He looked at the ignition problem, didn't do anything about it and went away while I had to deal with this very scary nuisance.

I am not using the broiler anymore because two months ago, I turned it on to ignite, closed the door oven and waited as usual for it to come on, and as usual I had to open the door several times but it still didn't ignite; then, while I was at sink (which is very close to the range), I heard this very loud sound and suddenly the oven door opened and a flash of fire came out. I got spooked and the broiler is out of duty for now. Also, the bad part of this range is that it says it is stainless steel and there is rust on top of the range and in the removable plates that cover it, and there are very small spots of rust throughout the range body. We are going to renovate the kitchen this year and I will never buy Maytag again. I think it is pretty sad that some companies sell shoddy appliances at a high price when their value and performance is very low.

They were damaged or dented and either never made to our home for delivery (the delivery company started checking them before wasting their time delivering) or were refused when they arrived. We contacted Home Depot (where we purchased the range) to see about exchanging our purchase for something different and they said we had to deal with Maytag. Once we finally accepted delivery on a range, which does have a small dent in it in the same place as all the others, we used it for approximately six months and my husband walked by one night and a spark came from the oven and it shut off and would not turn back on.

We called Maytag warranty service. We were told we would have to wait for 4 business days for an appointment. Our appointment time was 8AM to 5PM. The repairman arrived, looked at the range for about ten minutes and showed us a wire that was not inside the range wall as it should have been and said that was our problem. He ordered a part and left. Three days later, he came back to install the part. Last month, we were using the range and the circuit breaker went off. Once we reset the breaker and turned the oven back on, the oven would not shut off. We again called Maytag warranty service and made an appointment for five business days later (with the same 8-5 appointment time).

The repairman arrived, joked about just being here, looked at the range for about ten minutes said our board went. He ordered a rush on the part and left. Three days later, he came back and installed the ordered part. August 26th, I once again called Maytag warranty service with the same issue (circuit blew and oven will not turn off) and was told that I could have an 8AM to 5PM appointment for September 1st. I have spoken with all of the above listed people concerning this on a daily basis with the exception of Sunday. After the second repair, they extended our warranty for one year. It took us both about an hour to clean the mess up, of course we were really shaking.

When I called Maytag on Monday to inform them of this explosion, the young man I spoke to stated that they do not know why the glass breaks but it does not happen often. I really got upset then and told him that they should inform the consumer about this because if you have a small child crawling on the floor, this could be disastrous. After calling a repairman, he diagnosed the problem as a computer problem that costs over $554 to repair. So, I will be without a broiler until something else fails in the stove that forces me to purchase a new one.

The refrigerator's ice dispenser does not dispense. Since it is not an issue with keeping food cold, I have not repaired and will not do so, especially after the stove fiasco. My dishwasher's drawers are just hanging in by a thread. The metal has rusted and tore, and the sliding drawer has lost rollers, so it is barely holding together. Motors are all good, but any repair is so expensive as to force the client that fell for the brand, to replace the item with some non-Maytag item. Consequences: the economic grief of having to buy new appliances when one invested in high end appliances to begin with.

I purchased all new high end appliances in 2003 from Maytag. We choose to buy Maytag/JennAir as a result of what we thought was a good reputation. In 2006, our stove ceased working. Under warranty, we replaced the electrical panel on the stove. In 2007, this part broke again. We waited almost a year without an oven in an attempt to negotiate it being covered under warranty. It was eventually replaced under warranty. Aside from this, I must mention that each time we still had to pay for service calls.

Shortly after, the same part broke again. Maytag sent out another repair company. The same part again was replaced. Within three months of this part being replaced again, it broke. Now, it's no longer under warranty. When asked why this has broken so many times, I have been told it was the membrane on the door and the hinges. Both of which I have already replaced. If this was not enough frustration, my fridge was on the recall list. We had Maytag come out to do the recall. Within two weeks, the fridge stopped working. A repair man came out. Of course, it was nothing to do with the recall so we paid to have it fixed on July 22. Now, July 30 the fridge is broken again. Same problems.

When I called Maytag, they do not allow you to escalate a problem to a supervisor. The representative had actually told me that I had only had to pay for the service calls for most of the repairs. The implication of this makes this experience okay. I accept that these appliances are no longer under warranty; however, we are talking about a part that has been replaced numerous times. This part itself is virtually new. I asked the service repairman who was here if I should buy a new stove. He basically indicated that I should.

I have had to endure about a year with no stove. I have paid for over six service calls. I have spent over 8 hours on the phone with Maytag. I have mold under my tiles as a result of the continuous pool of water under the fridge. I have also suffered a minor burn on my arm from the excessive heat generated on the panel of the stove. I blamed myself; however, I have come to believe that the part overheats too much and this is what is causing it to burn out, not to mention that I paid $5000 for these two appliances.

My Maytag/Magic Chef stove, model #CGR3765BDC and serial #10666498YD, turned itself on while my husband and I were out. We were gone for about 6-7 hours and returned home to a very hot house that had a bleach smell. We could not turn the oven off. The panel displayed the numbers 6666. I burnt the tips of my fingers trying to touch the control panel. The oven was that hot! We didn't know whether to call the fire department or the gas company. We called an emergency into the gas company, standing by, in case we needed to call the fire department. The gas man shut the gas and electric off to the oven. Now we don't have a stove or oven and I'm scared it will do this again, even if repaired.

Also, this oven always baked hotter than what the temperature displayed and we could never touch the top of the stove while the oven was on without getting burnt. We always thought it was that way because it has a chrome metal finish. Now we realized something was always wrong with this stove/oven. What if we had been gone longer? Or on a vacation? I'm sure we would also be without a house!

We bought a Maytag Electric glass top stove/oven about 3 years ago. We were having problems while on warranty and had it fixed at no charge. Once off warranty, the oven door would not close properly. It was partially open so it could not heat properly. We had the serviceman in to repair. He ordered a new part and came back, $200. The door fell off within 6 months. Another call and it was $120. Since then, the door has fallen off most times when used. Now we cook in it only on special occasions and we have to be careful to hold the door so it won't fall off. Once we are done using it, we take the door off until we need to use it again. Thankfully it is just my husband and I, so we are able to use a toaster oven to bake for ourselves. We have spent more money for service and parts than it is worth. After reading the stories, we will not repair it again. It will go to the dump.

I live in a fairly new subdivision in the Walker, LA area. The same one Shannon of Walker LA lives in. My wife and I were happy to be buying our first house together as we should've been. Then the other day, my wife was taken our kids to school and on her way out the back door she smelt something burning in our kitchen. She looked towards the stove and noticed the red indicator light was on. She walked over to the stove to find the cover to be burning. She quickly turned the burner off and removed the burner cover. It seems as though the stove had turned on by its self. The reason I say by its self is that we do not have the time it takes to cook breakfast on the stove in the mornings before school and work. Then the next day or maybe the day after that, our neighbors house caught on fire. Caused by their stove. A Maytag Electric Range. Upon asking some other people in our neighborhood we found 5 or 6 more houses that had the same sort of thing happen to them, fortunately without the fire incident. We have contacted our builder and made them aware of the range. My concern is, what is Maytag going to do about their faulty equipment? If the same thing is happening to several different homes in our subdivision then there is obviously something wrong with the range in question. Has anyone else, other than us, had this sort of problem?

My husband and I purchased a brand new home with brand new appliances that were provided by the builder. We have been in the home for about a year and a half. Of course, the appliances are made by Maytag. About 6 months ago, we noticed that our oven started locking up, shutting off on its own and cutting on by itself. My husband checked the breaker and it had not flipped. So he cut the breaker to turn it off and then flipped it back to on. Since the first incident, it happened a handful of times.

Well, I got a phone call at work on Thursday, 2/13/09, from a neighbor stating that my house had caught fire. Upon arrival, and once all the neighbors were checking on us, I found out from several neighbors that their stoves were cutting on by themselves, and they were on high temperatures. Needless to say, the fire was caused by the stove. I found out today that the builder replaced another Maytag oven in the subdivision because of electrical problems. Did they attempt to let anybody know of this situation? NO!!! So I am dealing with a partially burnt home. Because of the fire, it busted my water lines that were in the attic. Now, we also have to deal with that, on top of being misplaced and having to find a rental place to live in for the next several months. I just want to know if there is anyone else that has had the same problems with the Maytag Model# MES555BAB. Please help if you can with this situation.

I now have found out that the pride (?) of Maytag has slipped and the plastic parts wear-out much faster than they should. For the past year or more, my washer sounds like a locomotive going through the house, and I can't even put in a full load because of the slippage in the spin. I guess I'm writing to say goodbye to Maytag as we are now going to purchase a new washer, most likely Whirlpool from what the repairman says. Also, I guess Jennair, according to consumer reports, isn't doing much better than Maytag. Why are you letting this happen? No longer will I recommend this brand for anything. We built a house in 2000 and bought all new Maytag appliances: dishwasher, refrigerator and stove. Last summer, the Maytag dishwasher had a recall due to an electrical problem and Maytag paid for the parts and service to fix the appliance. This weekend, my Maytag gas stove exploded after the feed values leading into the burners broke. Fortunately, no one in my family was injured and my house is still standing. After turning off the gas to the stove, we looked underneath the burners and the insulation that separates the stovetop from the oven is clearly charred and both front values to both front burners are defective.

I called Maytag today to report it and they offered to send an inspector out to the house to see the appliance and determine what parts might need replacing. But since we did not purchase an extended warranty, we were responsible for any repairs. I could have lost my entire house to this explosion and been seriously hurt. The first thing the operator asked me was if anyone or any property was hurt? Shouldn't Maytag be liable to replace this defective range? I also have a Maytag fridge with electrical issues that seemingly can't be fixed. So all three appliances are having issues with two of them being serious. What compensation can I expect from this company?

I purchased Maytag Gas Oven, with Model #MGR5751BDS, in July of 2008. It failed directly out of the box. First, the oven clock quit, then the burners wouldn't light, and then the oven would cook at random temperatures. I called customer service (what a nightmare). After an hour, I finally got a service appointment scheduled. Seven months have gone by, and the oven has been serviced multiple times. Each repair requiring two visits (one for the diagnostic, one for after the new parts arrived) with each repair set for between 8 am and 5 pm. By Thanksgiving, the oven could not be trusted to operate at the correct temperature at all, and by Christmas it simply quit working.

I have spoken to 11 different people at Maytag, and only through sheer luck are they supposedly replacing it. However, after they promised to replace it on December 22, 2008, I followed up on several occasions and finally got through to someone on January 5, 2009, only to be told the order was incorrect in the computer and it was actually going to be ordered today. Then, I asked them when the $150 compensatory check was going to arrive, and they told me that I turned that offer down on December 19, 2008. Yeah, like I would turn down any compensation for everything they have put me through - all the missed work, the countless hours on hold, not being able to have holidays here…I simply don't know which is worse, their product or the customer service.

Because of the stove/oven not working and/or working properly, I cancelled Thanksgiving at my home. At Christmas, it simply couldn't be cancelled so I purchased a rotisserie, and borrowed a table-top oven and several extra crock pots so I could still cook. However, the entire menu had to be changed and was more costly since I had to purchase more prepared products. Some food has had to be thrown out because it wasn't cooked correctly, and we have had to eat out more. Hundreds and hundreds of cell phone minutes burned on hold causing overages. Just the constant struggle of trying to find food that my children with special needs would eat that didn't have to be prepared with an oven (and sometimes stove top) has been difficult.

Even on Day One, when I boiled water in a brand new pot which I had duly washed before using, rinsed carefully, etc., etc., with the repairman standing beside me witnessing the entire episode, the cooktop developed a hard-to-clean stain. The pricey stuff they sell for clean-ups is a joke; Softscrub works at least as well for a 10th of the price. In the end, the kind local appliance dealers gave me a spare cooktop to put on the thing when I sell my house someday.

I have put the memory of the brain-dead Maytag help line robots because it was so unpleasant. After just a few moments, listening to the woman claim that she uses this thing all the time and has no problems keeping it clean, I must be an **. It was painfully obvious that they had no intention of doing anything to make it right. How could they? The product is an impossible design. It just 'burns me up' that you shell out the Big Bucks to buy something that's supposed to be E-Z to clean and end up with a clean-up albatross that is 50 times more trouble than the old way. Humph.

They would replace the electrical motor, the water pump, the milk stool, and the spin belt. I was told by one service man that he never bought a new Maytag and that his washer was noisier than mine. I finally gave up, lived with the noise, and quit purchasing the extended warranty. The noise stayed pretty much the same until December 2008 when it sounded like a jet engine. I replaced the spin belt and idler pulley, but this did not help. I noticed the noise was extremely bad during the spin cycle and could be heard very clearly when the door was opened up during the spin cycle.

I have never worked on a washer my entire life (56 years of age) and proceeded to take the machine apart with no instructions. I found the tub triple seal bearing was the object making all the noise. I purchased a new triple seal bearing and hub kit that cost close to $90, replaced the bad parts and reassembled the machine. Now, it is as quiet as the day we purchased it. I believe I now know more than the service people know about this particular machine!!! Is it because they did not know of what the noise was or was it too much trouble and time to completely take the machine completely apart???

I purchased a new spin belt at $10 (cheap because I shop around). I made (I am a machinist since 1970) a new idler pulley out of aluminum instead of their cheap plastic (no out of pocket expense but worth 1 1/2 hours of my time at $50 per hour, or purchase price for a new piece of junk plastic idler pulley for close to $20), and purchased one triple lip seal and hub assembly for $90. I still need to purchase a new outer tub seal gasket (approximately $5, plus shipping and handling) since the top of the tub is leaking. I was told this is a normal replacement after the age and the handling of the machine during repair of the triple lip seal. I was also told it might be a good idea to replace the entire cover outer tub seal and gasket to insure that there are no leaks (prices range from $36.99 plus shipping and handling, to $62.99 plus shipping and handling). Somewhere around $165 in materials is where the end result will be, and this does not include my labor or fuel costs.

Countless meals ruined because ovens are dead due to error codes. Mental stress for ruined meals. Mental stress for beeping error codes at 2 a.m. Mental stress for owning a Maytag range.

Maytag Neptune washer and dryer were bought approx 3-4 years ago. Have been having a oder, almost a burning oder, but could not detere the oder to be more prevelant. I have also been having a bad time with mold allergies. Today I read about Neptune washer and mold problems I am going for simple and cheap machines since workmanship and parts are poor no matter what you pay. When I have to replace I won't be so upset. And not a Maytag.

Well I purchased a Maytag 30in gas fs double oven gemini 5.22 on 05/30/05 and let me begin by saying my control panel on top of the stove caught fire twice in three years the first time i had it repaired because the warranty was up i had to pay for it. And of course it happened again the second fire so i called maytag again and he told me i am not supposed to wet this stove to clean it there is a special solution to put on the stove so i would not have to clean much i said that is discusting i need to clean my stove i do not submerge it i leave the sponge damp and this happened twice

i have five kids and two of them are newborn my oldest is seven, i feel i got ripped off and maytag said if the pronlem is fixable they will fix it but if it is not fixable they will give me 15% off a new stove what is that nothing. I feel this stove is very hazoradus and it should be recalled.

We purchased this new Maytag Precision Touch Control 500 Electric Smoothtop Model# MER5755QAW at Sears four years ago. Today I was preheating the oven to 425 to bake a pie. I waited 45 minutes for the oven to preheat. It only reached a temperature of 210. I Canceled it out and tried again, no use it would not work. We shut off the breaker to the stove and retried it, nothing! The oven is not working. After coming online and doing some research, I found this site for consumers and have discovered that this has been a major problem for many of these Maytag appliances.

When will there be something done about this? This is a problem that has been brought to their attention but they still do not care about their customers. I'll NEVER buy another Maytag appliance. They're rubbish! and so is their Customer Service!!!!

The broiler element on the top oven caught on fire which could not be stopped until I called Phillips and they told me to unplug the range! My husband was unable to find the plug and we had to go to the fuze box and trip the breaker.

This element had been replaced 2 years earlier because it was burned out???

our maytag stove door auto lock cycles like crazy until finally giving an F9 code dropping out the bake and broil functions. This occurred during the night when it when into its auto cleaning mode. I am a technician by trade of such equipment, kitchen and resturant.I found a bad control board. This is a 2000 dollar range and you know what? After reading the complaints, its going to the dump. Im cutting my losses now because it sounds like maytag appliances are really worth more at the scrap yard than they are off the assembly line.

cut my losses by throwing the range away. Lost original price paid, 1999.00

I have a Maytag range, MEM5750BAB, which was purchased June 26, 2006. In May of 2007, the Electronic Range Control burned out, and had to be replaced under warranty, parts, service call and labor included. June of 2008, the Electronic Range Control has burned out again, and the manufacturer warranty has expired. The ERC price is approximately $200.00. I have a $1000.00 deductible on my homeowner's insurance. I am a senior citizen on a fixed income and $200.00 puts a serious financial strain on our budget. Maytag needs to build appliances that last longer than just a couple of years!

Consequence is we cannot use our oven at all, although the top burners still work. It would be nice to be able to bake/broil food again.

We recently purchased a Maytag freestanding range, MGRH865 for our new home. As soon as we began using the oven, it would not turn off. We saw smoke come out from behind the oven and had to unplug it to turn it off. The company that Maytag contracts to service their ovens told us that a screw went into a wire during manufacturing and burnt the board.

They sent us a replacement board and we scheduled a date for repair. Of course, we get a call (after waiting all day) that they would have to reschedule. I wrote Maytag a letter explaining that I want the oven replaced at this point, but I doubt that will happen. After reading all of the reviews, I just can't understand what is going on with Maytag. These are very dangerous situations that involve people's safety.

Not major to date. Days off of work and 2 months of eating out instead of cooking at home.

We purchased a Maytag electric stove at Home Depot in 2/07. After 2 weeks of owning it, I called for service because the stovetop was becoming dangerously hot, even far away from the elements. Hot enough that water would sizzle and evaporate immediately. Since I have small kids this really scared me, since even the edges of stove were hot enough to burn them.

Also, the oven door didn't close flush with the oven. The service people told me that the door would sit properly once I used the self cleaning mechanism. Now seeing all the other complaints about the doors blowing up, staining, etc, I'm glad I didn't.

The service folks said that the stovetop temp was normal. God forbid that I brush up against the stove while cooking, because it would cook me!@!!!

Now to top it off the oven handle broke off on left side...$100 for service call, not covered under warranty. Never Again will I buy a Maytag...I have an LG refrigerator and had to have them come out to service Ice maker and they ended up putting in a new shelf that my kids had busted. Same day service too...
