we were paying insurance for aditional coverage for our washer. Our washer brook down, so we called the insuwrance. They send an independent dealer to come and fix the washer. The technician said that the transmission had to be repaired, and that they would have to order the parts. It took 3 to 4 weeks for the insurance to authorize and get the parts to the dealer. When the technician came again he could not fix the washer, because the motor also had to be replaced, and that it would cost more to fix it than to get a new one. The technician told us to call the insurance, and tell them to give us a new washer because he could not repair the damaged one. We called the insurance and they said they would not give us a new one , insted they would authorize the dealer to also buy the motor. But they did not authorize the dealer to buy the motor it would be more expensive to fix it than to buy a new one. I told them to give me a new one then. They said no, that there was no coverage. I tried to speak with a manager, but never was able to, and spoke to defferent operators and nobody tried to help me. All this time I had been going to the laundromat spending between 35.00 and 50.00 dollars. So I ended up throwing the washer. About 1 or 2 weeks lator someone called me and told me that coverage had been extended and that someone was going to come and fix it again,I told I had thrown the washer away, that they had to give me a new one. But the refused again. The worse thing is that they called me to tell me that the contract is over and that they never refused to repairit. Now all this is recorded on their system. Please help us.

Our Maytag Neptune Frontload Washer MAH6700AWW is not dispensing the liquid soap or fabric softner. I called back in July and they told me the soap and fabric softner was too think to add water. Why is that we don't do this with anyother washer we have ever used. Then I called Home Depot where we purchased them in 2005. They told us it was a Maytag issue, Maytag says it was a G.E. issue. Well in the midst of all this our warrenty went out. Now they ask for $100.00 for service fees. Well if they would have come out the first time it would have still been covered. I am so mad for all the money we spent on a Maytag I should have just purchase a cheaper brand! The purchase date was 10/28/05 and we included the warranty now it just expired in 11/5/08 how convient just days after that date we have issues.

We've moved into our house 2 years ago and there was an existing Maytag Neptune washer and dryer in the house. We were pretty happy because they were relatively new and we had just purchased the same set for our old house before we found out we were moving. Our previous washer gave us little trouble. We had the black mold on the interior ring of the washer, but I just cleaned it with bleach and left the door open when I wasn't using it. Then we moved into our new house. For two years I have thought I was losing my mind! My laundry has always smelled badly no matter what detergent I used or how hot the water was. I thought something was wrong with our well water and figured there was nothing I could do about it except get a water filter. Then the dryer started leaving my clothes with a burnt smell! So, I logged onto the internet to investigate and found this site! I couldn't believe that all this time, it was the washer causing my clothes, towels and sheets to stink so badly! I have been embarrased when having guests stay over because our sheets and towels always smell and I can't seem to ever get the laundry clean! Shame on Maytag!

I purchased a Maytag Neptune Washer and Dryer in Feb 2002. The motor drive went up recently and I was first told by the repair technician (Metro Factory Service) that it was covered under recall. Then he said he had to schedule another appointment to repair the unit because he needed a second man to help. He told me Maytag would not pay for the second man, so I would have to pay $135. I paid the him before he left. As it turned out they cancelled this appointment and told me they had determined that the cost to repair my unit was not worth the service call.

I bought a Neptune washer and dryer from Aaron in Norman. I had noticed that my whites had been coming out with brown stains on them. I thought maybe it was the detergent that i was using so i tried several differant brands. My whites were still coming out with stains. I thought maybe there was something in my dryer that was maybe stuck in there so i went to clean it out and while i was cleaning it i noticed there is a vent on the back of the dryer on the inside well there is rust on it. I went to wipe it off and it was coming right off. This is what has been staining my whites. This is a brand new dryer so I dont know what else to do i cant keep it from getting rust on it.

Thankfully we were home to prevent water damage to our home. The All Maytag repairman replaced the computer for $293.49. Today, Nov. 14, 2008, the spin will not cycle. The repairman said we need to replace the $300. computer once again. Along with all other owners familiar with the washing machine, we, too, experienced the moldy, musty smell. Assuming we could do nothing about it, we have lived with it.

We purchased the Neptune front load washer and dryer 2004 and immediately began having problems with mold and odor. The mold forms on the outside and inside of the gray rubber(?) fitting around the round door opening. From the mold developes a mildew odor inside the washer. It wasn't until this evening's Channel 19 news broadcast (Cleveland, Ohio) did a segment on this problem and talked about a class action lawsuit with Maytag regarding this problem. Up until tonight, I was completely unaware others were experiencing the same problem with mold and odor. I, like the others mentioned, followed the user manual to maintain our washer but nothing worked. Do we have any recourse to have this problem fixed by Maytag? What are our options? This was and is a large amount of money for us to spend but we did so in good faith because of the Maytag name.

I have been having some issues with my Neptune washer and when I went online to research it I found there had been a class action suit for the same issue, cloths smelling like mold and mildew. When I tried to go to the link to file the claim form a message came up that time had expired for this. I was wondering if you could tell me how Maytag can get through this suit without notifying the people that it affects. My mom and dad, my sister, my brother and two of my aunts and uncles have the Neptune and are having the same problems and not one of them received a notice of the lawsuit. Is there anything that can be done at this point now that our families are getting sick from wearing cloths washed in moldy water and we have to replace most of our clothing. Here is a link to others experiencing the same type of problems. Thank you and I hope to hear from you soon, Rick http://www.consumeraffairs.com/homeowners/maytag_wash.html

We bought a Maytag Neptune washer/dryer set a 4-6 years ago. After a year or so, we noticed moldy smelling clothes like everyone else with one of these lousy machines.
I am a bit of a fix-it-yourself person, so I stuck my head in the washer and found the source of the mold. We tried to clean it off with everything short of an atomic bomb, but nothing worked. I replaced the liner myself and found that the drain in the liner that came in my machine had a plug in place! It was deliberately plugged at the factory and not connected to the drain hose! I figured this was the problem and connected the new liner to the drain line when I installed it. No luck. Clothes now stink again. Like so many of us with these pieces of junk, we have had to throw out a lot of expensive clothes and linens. I am very worried about the health issues and am planning to replace the washer immediately. It is infuriating to read about the plethora of others who have had this same problem and about Maytag's slimy, dishonorable, and unethical response. Can you imagine, a company who runs adds with bored repair men? What a joke. When we learned about the lawsuit (we weren't notified either) my wife called and they said the deadline (that they set!) was past, and then had the nerve to offer us 10% off a new product.

We bought the Maytag Neptune washer and dryer in August 2001. Three days ago the washer died. There's only two of us in this household; I do approximately two loads of laundry a week so this machine has not been hammered to death.
It died on the spin cycle leaving me with a load of soaking wet laundry to wring out by hand and find somewhere to drape it until it was dry enough to put in the tumble dryer. I immediately got on the Internet to do some research and was appalled by what I found. Thousands of people with the same problems? The black mold in the door gasket, the incomplete draining and recurring problems? Then I found out that the Maytag Neptune front-loader was the subject of a class-action lawsuit? But why was I never notified of this? And now it's too late to file? At least having spent some time reading through these other complaints, I understand why my towels stink to high heaven (and I was blaming my husband)! Very expensive towels, but it looks like they'll be thrown out. It might also explain why my allergies have gotten progressively worse since moving into this new home - we bought the appliances when we moved in. Maytag dishwasher doesn't dispense the rinse-aid (tech can't understand why); Amana oven was subject to a recall before we even bought it; now the washing machine. I just went out today and purchased a new Bosch washing machine. I will never again buy another Maytag/Whirlpool/Amana product (all the same company for those who don't know). I want to know what is being done to make Maytag pay for this whole debacle. I paid nearly $1000 for this washing machine - I expected it to last considerably longer than it has. No way was I paying upwards of $300 to $400 for a repair - throwing good money after bad. My new machine is being delivered on Tuesday and they are taking the piece-of-junk Neptune away. Now I don't know whether I should hang onto it and try to get compensation from Maytag.

For the last year our clothes have been smelling really bad after washing, so we changed detergent, softeners, bleach dryer sheets, we tried everything. Now I know why they smell so bad because of mold growing inside my washer. And yesterday I get home from work and the door is locked with clothes still in washer and no power to the machine, no codes, nothing, and the smell of melting plastic. So I go online to see what I can find out about this problem and I found that there is a recall for my model MAH9700 with my serial number ending in GP. So the recall is a portable GFCI (ground fault circuit interrupter). I ended up taking control panel off of machine and found it melted, a fine time to put a GFCI on the cord isnt it, Now I would like to know if I registered my new equipment as manufacturer suggest why did I not get a notice of such a recall from manufacturer. And with Class action law suit why would they still sell a defective product.

I see that there was a class action suite filed for some typeof reimbursement or replacement in 2005. What does that do for me and those who were not aware of this. We purchased a Maytag Neptune washer which I was told was the top of the line and would be more economical to use. Shortly after we got it, we noticed that our clothes, especially the towels, smelled terrible. Also, whenever I would wash items to hang up to dry, they would be covered with flecks of mildew. I went back to Lowe's and inquired and they were no help. I contacted Maytag (this was after the 2005 lawsuit had been settled) and they responded that they didn't have a clue what would cause this problem. Besides the clothes smelling foul and being flecked with mildew, everytime the washer would spin my house would be filled with a horrible sulfur smell. When we moved to a new home a couple of months ago, the drainage hose leaked out pure, black gunk onto the movers. Since then, in order to lessen the problems I have to buy liquid or tablet washing machine cleaning solutions to help the problem. Today I hear that an Atlanta tv station did an investigative piece on this matter. I am furious that I got the run-around from Maytag and from 3 different repairmen. Surely, then had all heard of this problem. What can I do to be compensated for this lemon of a washer. Never have I had a washer that collects mold and mildew like this.

This washing machine never did work properly - it does not clean the clothes well, it gets off balance easily, and several times we had to rewash clothes because it would not spin the clothes out after the final rinse. In September, the washer refused to start, giving a coded message on the display panel. I called the 800 number printed on the washer lid and they gave me the name of the authorized representative in my area. When the rep finally arrived, he had no idea what the code meant. He left to look it up on a website and we didn't hear from him for 2 weeks. When I called to see what happened, he had forgotten about me. He then stated that he needed to order a part and would get back to me. After 3 more weeks, I called back and he said Oh the part just came in. The repairman came with the part and installed it, and got the same error message he got the first time. He left to look at the computer again, came back the next week, and said the part was correct so he worked with the washer to get it started. After paying him $150.00 for parts and labor, the washing machine lasted through 2 loads of clothes, then displays the same error message as before. The repairman said that to come back and look at it, I had to pay another $75 service fee plus whatever parts I needed. This washer has been a jinx and I had heard from 2 different appliance dealers/repair men that this washer is no good and that there is a suit filed against it with the company. Do you know of anything like this, and if so, who do I contact. Thanks for taking time to look into this matter for me. Jennie Nord

We purchased (New)at Home Depot in July 2006 a MayTag Front Load Neptune Washer and Matching Dryer.
The washing machine is clearly a lemon as immediately there were problems. The initial problems were the machine being anything but quiet when running. It sounds like an airplane taking off when rinsing/spin cycles. As well as it does not stay stationary (Even though leveled) it jumps all over. Also, from onset there is a terrible odor that arises even when you dry the washer out by hand after using. Major problem came up within one year where the washing machine would not drain, suds indicator kept coming on. It did not complete wash cycle/and/or spin cycles. This prompted the door to stay closed/locked. I had contacted Maytag directly and they basically indicated one year manufaturing warranty was up and they would send a repair person out at my cost of $120 to take a look at it. Depending on what the nature of problem is it was possible I would also have to pay for repairs. My concerns with this stance was I paid top dollar for what I thought was going to be a top quality product especially being a Maytag and I would never have anticipated such a poor quality product but even more so poor service from Maytag. The person handling my call indicated I more or less caused the problem myself. I advised Maytag Rep of the ongoing issues and I feel they should stand behind product and actually I feel my washing machine is a lemon and I would like a replacement. I also mentioned the prior class action lawsuit with the same machine and indicated the same problems are happening with my machine. She was adamant the issue is not with the machine but I caused the issue. After my sending a letter to the BBB did I get a call from Maytag and they agreed to send a service repair person out at no cost. Again, she repeated the issue is not the fault of Maytag but my fault as I did not use bleach? to run thru a cycle and she indicated I probably did not read my owners manual. The repairmen (2) worked on the washing machine. They replaced the rubber gasket around the door and did a couple of other things. One of thet things they did was cut the plastic hose that the water goes into and out of the washing machine. They did not repair the broken hose after they cut it. They left my home with water all over the basement floor, a broken/cut hose (As they indicated the person who installed the washing machine had done this?). This is / was an untrue statement as I had a professional plumber install and the hose was one solid piece. They indicated I could just tape it? WHich I did. After my cleaning the mess up that teh repair men left behind I called Maytag to advise Rep of work done, etc. I told rep the machine is still running very rough bouncing all over the floor. I also mentioned the state they left my machine in with broken hose as well as water all over the floor and she could have cared less. The washing machine within a few days after they left continued to have the same problems as prior to them coming to the house. The washing machine would not empty out and code SUDS continued and still continues to flash. This requires me to put thru another spin cycle. SOme of the cycles do not work properly. I usually can only do a quick wash cycle and even with that need to put thru another spin to empty water in basin. The washing machine continues to have a fowl odor. I do use the bleach to clean regularly as well as the Afresh Tablets and no help. The machine continues to get mold along the rubber gasket. I always dry this out after using with a face dry cloth but mold still forms. THe machine is the loudest machine I have ever heard. Continues to sound like a jet taking off. ALso, it is leveled and it continues to bounce and dance across the basement floor with every use. I paid top $ for this lemon washing machine. $1000 and I should have bought a no name brand for a couple hundred dollars as I would have had more luck. The Maytag Company does not feel any sense of obligation to the customers. They do not stand by their products. Actually, I had asked a local Maytag repair shop to take a look at washing machine. The particular licensed Maytag repair shop indicated he will not and does not work on the Neptunes. He had indicated they were a problem from day one and they continue to be. He refuses to sell in his shop as well. When I mentioned this to the Rep at Maytag she indicated more or less he is incorrect. The last contact I have had with Maytag directly was after they did repair work when problems were still taking place. She had told me at that time they already replaced the gasket at no cost and more or less I am on my own. SO, I am paying a monthly bill for this washing machine and dryer for the next 5 years or so. My thoughts are/were which I did express to Maytag Rep that Maytag did not correct the problems that existed with the first class action law suit. As the problems continue to exist in the Neptune washing machines that were made/manufactured after the lawsuit. My particular washing machine was manufactured very close to the date the class action suit was settled. My washing machine was bought at Home Depot and it perhaps was in storage there for a while before I bought it. My ? to her is was my machine one that should or could have been included in the Class action lawsuit. SHe indicated no. Also, she indicated there are no further problems or complaints from other customers with the Front Load Neptunes. This is incorrect as you can clearly see the number of complaints out there. I feel there should be a class action lawsuit against Maytag at this point as they are not taking responsiblity for the poor product.

My wife and I also are having problems with our Maytag Neptune model: MAH6500AWW. We purchased it in 2004. The first problem was the door gasket (gray gasket) has slits in it and it leaks all over the place. The second problem is the RL code keeps coming on. I searched and found that it is the motor and control board. We also heard about the settlement that ended in 2005. We didn't receive anything from Maytag on the issues we are now experiencing. As of right now my washer is completely down and I need to know if I should go ahead and have it repaired, or will Maytag honor their poor craftsmanship and pay for it. On a side note, I called Maytag about the lawsuit and they said, "Any problems you have with the unit needed to be filed by 2005, and therefore you don't qualify under the settlement (since it is 10/15/08), would you like us to send out a technician?" Please let me know asap what I need/should do as my kids soccer and baseball uniforms are piling up.

Old sump water remains in machine to mix with the next cycle. Hence, you can never completely rinse clothes of detergent and start wash cycle with completely clean water. Black mold on the door seal that cannot be cleaned. By the way, I WAS NEVER CONTACTED ABOUT THE SETTLEMENT OF THE CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT OF THESE MACHINES BY MAYTAG. Sounds like many other owners were not contacted either. This smells like FRAUD.

I found this website while looking for ANOTHER Maytag repair part. I own three Maytag appliances, and they have all proven to be junk, junk, junk. The stackable washer/dryer, about 10 years old, has been completely rebuilt by a local appliance service guy, for about the cost of 2 new units (trouble started within 3 days after the one-year warranty expired). The dishwasher leaks but I haven't had the money to address it because the Maytag Gemini double oven (7 years old) has required countless expensive repairs, the latest being the top oven element caught fire while my teenager was making toast; I'm lucky to still have a house and a teenager. Now that I have read what has happened to others, I am afraid of what future issues my Maytag appliances have in store for me. Maytag Company and executives should be ashamed of themselves for the shoddy and dangerous products they are selling and I wouldn't put another Maytag appliance in my house if I were PAID to do so.

In 2001 we purchased a Neptune Front Load washing machine, model #MAH4000AWW. I was excited about owning a front load that was also a Maytag. Not long after purchase I had to have the front rubber seal replaced due to a large tear. Also the brush lint filter around the door was always getting gunked up. Even though the machine was still under warranty, the repairman seemed to insinuate that I had done something wrong. He replaced the seal and they told me that I had to run separate cycles, regularly, using either bleach or vinegar to clean the washer. I thought this was odd since the machine was an HE type and was supposed to be saving water. He also told me that I must clean the lint filter area with some type of brush after every load. I've never had to do this with a washer before.

Since then, I've experienced other odd things. For instance: Machine would go out of balance with normal sized loads. Many times the clothes were still dirty and I would have to wash again. Clothes would come out of the washer with a BAD mildew smell and I would have to wash again using Lysol or do a wash with bleach before I wash other clothes (a lot of clothing still contained mildew smell and had to be thrown out). Machine making way too much noise while running, and jumping around on concrete floor while spinning.

Well, now I just arrived home from the 3-day 60 mile Susan Komen Breast Cancer walk. I am really tired and beat and need to do laundry. So I began. I heard the beep, letting me know that a load was done. As soon as I opened the door, I knew there was a problem. The clothes were still dripping wet and soapy and fabric softener never went into washer. Thinking it was just a fluke, I reset the machine to wash again (without using new soap). I observed that the door locked light did not light up and the spin cycle would not start. So, had to wring clothes dry by hand and hope for the best.

Called for service. Technician informed me that repairs would run approx. $300.00. Repair consists of: Main Control board, part 22002989, along with parts 12002353 and 22002162, plus labor to rebuild door latch (since the wax motor kit is no longer available). These repairs are just to get the machine to run again, mold problem is still an issue. I paid $101.65 for the service call and immediately checked info on internet. I now find out that there was a Class Action Lawsuit filed against Maytag for mold problems. I was NEVER notified of this lawsuit! I am LIVID! To top it all off, I see that I can no longer file a claim due to an expired deadline date!

I need a washer as soon as possible. I will now have to sacrifice time and money to go to laundromat and pay to wash. Spend extra time researching machines so I don't get duped again. Shop around for an affordable price. I feel that Maytag should make good to all owners of the models on the list. I will be expecting to hear from you soon with regard to what can be done to rectify this situation.

We have purchased the Maytag Neptune Washer and are just now hearing of a lawsuit settlement. I have been doing a lot of research on the internet and finding out that A LOT of us Maytag Neptune owners were conveniently NEVER notified of this settlement and are stuck with these faulty washers. Maytag gave a deadline of 2005 to have all claims in by to qualify for the repair reimbursement. So what do all of us hundreds of Maytag Neptune owners do that were NEVER notified? All owners that I have read about on the internet have spent hundreds of dollars in repair costs, including myself, and were never notified of the recall/lawsuit. I feel that the deadline is totally unfair, especially for us who never received the notice by mail like Maytag claims they contacted all owners. A 42 cent stamp for a mailing that never may or may not actually end up in the purchaser's hands is ridiculous. More effort than the cost of a stamp should be put into notification to owners of a serious problem.

There is a KNOWN problem, and Maytag should be held responsible for this, not just responsible for their problem within a certain time frame. A problem is a problem, and those at fault should not be let off the hook for any reason! We as consumers purchased the top of the line Maytag Neptune, that cost a lot more than other brands, because we were told that we were getting the best that money could buy. Now we not only spent a small fortune on the washer in the first place, but now have repair bills, replacement bills, replacement clothing bills and heaven forbid -- medical bills. Something MUST be done to protect the consumer.

No problems at all, but because of the bad reviews and the class action lawsuit we bought an extended warranty. We did not know about the problems before we bought it. So when we heard about them, we also renewed it again, even though we had never used it. When we moved this year, we had to call a repairman for the leaking problem many people have written about. First, the timed dry button wouldn't work - no problem, I usually use sensor dry. Then light inside went out, then dryer stays running when the door is opened - getting dangerous now. Then, later that day - I hear something in laundry room. I go in there and the dryer is running. I am the only one here, and there is no clothes in the dryer, and I hadn't used it since that morning and it is 12 hours later. Now, none of the buttons work and I can't turn the dryer off, because even when you open the door, it is still running. I have to flip the fuse on it as the plug is not in a place that can be reached, nor would I have tried unplugging it while it was running.

Next morning, I turn fuse back on, and test the dryer. Now it will not run at all on the bottom portion, but top part works. (Well not really, that stopped heating a year ago and Maytag refused responsibility, but it does turn on and blow cool air.) I have written Maytag via their website 3 times and called once. All I wanted to know if this is a common problem, and perhaps an idea of what it could be. After spending this much on a dryer 3 years ago, I didn't expect a large repair bill so soon. I was told that they do not offer technical support on the phone and it is not warrantied. They could only schedule a person to come and look at it for $65 plus parts and labor. This dryer is a fire hazard and a complete waste of money. I feel that Maytag should take some responsibility and offer some sort of technical support in diagnosing the problem as well as offering to pay for a portion of the repair costs. I NEED TO KNOW IF SEARS SOLD ME A BOGUS MAYTAG WASHING MACHINE &/OR IS IT ACCEPTABLE THAT I PURCHASED A WASHING MACHINE THE MANUFACTURER CAN'T EVEN PROVIDE SPECIFICATIONS ON? Washer MAV15 - Model#MAV7757AWQ purchased from Sears Dept.Store in Sept.2002. I paid $800.00 which incl.a 3 yr extended warranty. I recalled Maytag was suppose to represent a quality product so I was basically sold by the Maytag name. I was advised by Sears this was one of the best machines I could purchase.

I learned after more research, the Maytag Model# on my washing machine did NOT exist anywhere - subsequently, I realized the Manual I rec'd. w/the machine listed no specifications, no information whatsoever. I have had nothing but problems w/this machine which started 8 mos. after I purchased it. I told the repairmen to take it back & have one delivered that works right. He stated they couldn't do that.

So,I referred to all the fine print on the docs I signed when I purchased the machine that indicates a minimum required 4 repair calls before they would consider replacing the machine. It hadn't even managed to get through the first year of manufacturer covered warranty period. The repair slip noted the brake/clutch had been replaced. After this, the machine worked somewhat appropriately for about 1 yr., however, I constantly noticed water coming from underneath the machine. Also, it never spun the clothes enough during the initial wash so I would need to put on a 2nd spin only.

Then it began squealing & making terrible grinding sounds again, but after (2) repair calls & the arrogance of both, implying I didn't know how to load the machine properly & finally being totally disgusted w/the machine I decided to tear it down to the motor. When I finally was able to get the rusted bolts off at the base of the drum mechanism- I was shocked to see that the bolts were so rusted from obvious long term exposure to water that the bolts were actually pitted. I decided I wanted to check out further information specific to the parts I was reviewing, so I pulled out the manual.

There was nothing defined in the manual so I went to the Maytag website & after realizing I was in error identifying this machine as an Atlantis model when unable to locate my model#, I sent an email to Maytag to ask where I should locate the specification sheet for my particular model - as all other Maytag washers were depicted. I rec'd. an email response from Maytag customer service stating that: (quote) This model was manufactured for a specific dealer (Sears) therefore you would not find any details for this model on the Maytag website. Unfortunately, We do not have a specifications sheet available on this model.

I don't understand this explanation & want to know if I have been a victim of consumer fraud or is this all some type of legal marketing technique between Maytag & Sears Dept Stores to the unsuspecting customer? Is there no accountability on behalf of either the manufacturer or the retail store that sold me this piece of garbage? I just want an answer as to the legality of this type of transaction.

Maytag MAH8700AAW Front Load washer, bought Nov. 2006 from Lowe's; always had a problem rinsing but has gotten worse. Unfortunately now out of warranty. The washer goes through all the cycles a but when it gets to 10 minutes left (Rinse just about over)it rotates more vigorously than at any other time in any of the cycles. This stirs up a lot of soap suds. Then it abrubtly stops, letting the suds sit on top of the clothes, and then it drains the water leaving the soap on the clothes. Then it goes into the spin, which just spins the soap into the clothes deeper. Then it stops. If I run the load again (which I have done 3 -4 times) without soap it still gets suds at 10 minutes.

I paid A&E to come out and tell me that's the way it's supposed to work, that I need to clean out the tub with Washer Magic (citric acid). Followed all procedures and still the same problem. Had Maytag pay for another company to come out who replaced the control board, but the problem still exists. Called and eplained it all to Customer Care and they said that the repairman should call the Tech Support line while at my house, and if it could not be resolved Maytag would classify the washer as unrepairable and move it up the chain for resolution.

We did that, but when I called Customer Care back the next day, a new person acted like she never heard of that process, put me on hold for 15 minutes, then came back to say she didn't have a report from the repairman that it could not be repaired. Now i wait while the two of them work out what kind of report will be required to classify it as unrepairable. I owned a laundromat, and Maytag was always dependable and concientious. This has gotten ridiculous. I know that they know this series of washers is a joke. I NEED RESOLUTION!

On Sun 9/14/2008 My basement became flooded from water coming from the bottom of the washing machine. I called the service company and spoke with a supervisor Kory Wount. He said he would make arrangements for someone to come out on Mon 9/15/2008 to repair the washer and someone else would come out to take pictures of the damages. Perla said that there was a service called scheduled for tues 9/16/2008 in which some one would repair the washer and someone else was to take pictures of the damages. On Tues 9/16 a service technitian came by himself. I asked him where was the other person to check the damages? He said what damages? He showed me and reported that the hose installed by the technitian on 9/2 had come off which caused the basement to be flooded. He also reported the damages as far he could see in the service order.

While he was there I called A&E and spoke with a supervisor Floria who said someone was supposed to be there to check the damages. On 9/17 I called again and spoke with a supervisor Suszanne who stated a claim was intiated and someone would be calling me. She also said since it was noted by the technitian that the cause was due to inproper service from their technitian A&E would pay for the damages. On 9/18 I called again I soke withn a supervisor Pat. On 9/20 I called again and spoke with a supervisor Alga. On 9/21 I called again and spoke with a supervisor Joe. On 9/22 I spoke with a supervisor Chandler, he said he would e-mail the department that was handling the claim and have someone call me.

As of 9/25 I have heard nothing. My basement has been sitting saturated in water for eleven days. It has become evident that this company is not willing to make good for the damages caused by the technitians failure to install the water in the proper manner. flooded basement, loss of living space, loss of the use of laundry machines, potential mold growth

this week, the machine began to make a noise when the drum rotated. i called Sears for a repair estimate. the technician diagnosed a failure in the rear bearing and that repair would cost over $900, ironically about the same as the purchase price. i am outraged to get only two years of service from this appliance that was manufactured by a once reputable company. i am outraged.

Purchased a Maytag Neptune XL washer in 2003, along with the matching dryer. In 2004 the washer started acting possessed. The lights and cycles would operate on their own, even when empty. The clothes were so tangled and torn that you had to throw them away and or shake them out real hard to maybe get the wrinkles out during the drying cycle. I called the repairman and he came out and replaced the entire motherboard. A $200 part. He told me that the motherboard should not be going out in a machine less than a year old. I agreed. It was under warranty so I dodged that bullet.

2006 the machine started doing the same exact thing. Acting possessed. This time to the point where it just stopped working altogether after a few months. I called the same repairman. He said it was no longer under warranty and it would cost $75 just to come out and look at it. Then labor and then parts. My husband went to an appliance parts center and purchased a new motherboard (which by the way is ours with no refund available if this turned out not to be the problem.)

Here we are again, May 2008 the washer is broken. The motherboard is gone, the washer will not work and Maytag says it sucks to be me, basically. That they would give me a repairman's name and I would have to pay for it or they could give me a 10% coupon for a new Maytag or Whirlpool washer. I told him Are you crazy? I will never buy another Maytag or Whirlpool again in my life and will tell everyone I know not to purchase their products.

The washer shakes the house, had to have it taken apart to remove money that was caught in it ,had to be leveled twice and it cost an arm and leg to repair. Now my dryer center doesn't heat and the heating element has been discontinued and new part is discontinued as well. I have had to purchase two lint filters and neither will fit into the slot. This causes lint to collect in my dryer and vent hose.

My clothes would not spin and I had to spin twice to get the water out good enough to dry and then would have to dry more than twice to get them completly dry. I have had my dryer and vent cleaned out twice and it still gets clogged back up. My washer and dryer worked perfectly for about three months and then I started to notice little things: not spinning good and spinning hard enough to shake the house/you could hear washer all over the house. My clothes would not be dry and I had to dry over and over again/the same load.

I called Maytag for a repairman and they sent the only people that work on Maytag washers and dryers/had to pay service call, gas milage and for any parts. There were not any parts to replace but we have spent in excess this year enough to purchase another washer and dryer that would work.

My wife always had a difficult time getting the machine to balance. It often would not spin rapidly enough to spin dry the clothes.

Result is that she had to move the clothes out of the washer wet as the machine would not spin them dry. She injured her back. She did this two times. We will replace the washer, as we cannot handle it anymore. The machine by the way has Maytag's name on it, but they are made by Samsung in Korea. The extended warranty period started March 29, 2004. In October, 2004, I contacted GE-Zurich to complain of an initial mold build-up in the washer. GE-Zurich informed me that they would not provide coverage as the problem was a result of a Maytag product defect.

Being denied coverage, I contacted Maytag in October, 2004. They referred me to another Maytag telephone number. In doing so, I was told that the claim program was a reimbursement program and that I had to have made a repair or replacement at my expense in order to be reimbursed. As I had not made any expenses, I was told that I was not covered under the claim program. Again, the claim program was presented as a reimbursement claim program. As such, we used due diligence and kept the washer clean -- and aired out after use. At that time, we thought that we would be OK in using preventive maintenance.

We now learn that we were wrong. Mold was growing where we could not see it. We should have had the gasket replaced by Maytag long ago. It is now August 2008, and we are now having serious mold problems. I am now told by Whirlpool/Maytag that it is now too late for any remedy from Maytag -- and that they are sorry I received the wrong information in back in 2004. My problem was a bad water pressure valve. After many weeks, the machine was repaired. Two years later, the valve went again. It took six weeks for the part to come in. I just called this morning to schedule a repairman because the valve is going again. Thank goodness I purchased the extended warranty! Two more years remain on the contract. After that, I guess I'll toss my $1000 washer. This proves you don't always get what you pay for.

I own a Maytag Atlantis top load washing machine that has what seems to be several functional defects from what I am reading from other complaints. The first defect is the Fabric Softener dispenser continually gets clogged and gummed up and starts to smell and staining clothing.

I clean it out at least every 2 months with no end in site. The second defect is it appears that the washer misses the drain cycle before the rinse cycle and leaves the dirty water in the basin for you to find later on. It has ruined alot of my families clothes, and as everyone knows in these economic times the washing machine isn't an easy appliance to afford to replace.

I wouldn't mind a part going bad every once in awhile, but every other month of uneccessary maintenance is rediculous. I haven't contacted maytag yet, but just got through dealing with whirlpool on a 2-1/2 year old dishwasher that finally got resolved only because I read the warranty to find the problem was still under warranty, but don't think Maytag will do anything about it. I one would search under Maytag Atlantis they will find plenty of complaints that match mine, and to think that there isn't a single recall out there is negligence to say the least.

In June of 2007 I purchased five new, top-of-the line Maytag appliances. By mid-June of 2008 the refrigerator sounded like it had a woodpecker (presumably a fan was hitting something) and my matching washer-dryer no longer matched. All the plastic components on the washer(control panel, soap dispenser) had yellowed while the dryer remained white.

From that time forward both the dealership (Home Depot) and I tried to get through to the company. The dealer always maintained that someone from the head office had promised to call me about the discolouration. No one called. I tried many cleaners but the discolouration is in the plastic and not a surface matter. The plastic on the washer was of poorer quality than that on the once-matching dryer.

I put in two entire days trying to get through to Maytag's office via internet and telephone, US or Canada. The message always the same -- We're experiencing higher than usual call volumes. Several times I was just cut off. FINALLY, this afternoon I reached someone after sitting on line for nearly an hour being thanked by a recording for my patience. That someone informed me that my washer discolouration had been previously reviewed and dismissed because there is only a 7-day warrantee on cosmetic issues like yours.

Maytag takes no responsibility for its defective plastic on some of its models. Within a year my washer looks 25 years old. Seven-day warrantee for cosmetic issues? That's ridiculous! I'd like to send you a digitial photo to post as a warning to others.

We decided to purchase the top of line washer and dryer. We bought the Maytag Neptune Top Loader set in May 2004, spent over $1700 plus the extended warranty. It has had several service calls, the lid started rusting - which was not enough to warrant a new lid - even though we purchased the extended warranty. Now it's down again - not sure what's wrong. But it is full of rust, mold, the fabric softener dispense is DISGUSTING, mold underneath. I hate that we wasted our hard earned money and got so screwed on the deal. This should have been a great set that should of lasted 20 years.

I want my money back and they can have the stupid things, I'll drive them there myself. I never want another Maytag product and am even questioning Whirlpool's credibility since they knew about this problem when they bought Maytag. Call the customer service, they are the worst I have ever dealt with, and we HAD a 3 year extended warranty. Another waste of our money. A class action suit should be filed for all of our money back-I don't want them to replace my machine, I'm buying a different brand. If someone doesn't get this going, I'm going keep on telling my story until it gets heard.

7 people in our house and the washer is broke. It's a pain in the rear to load everything up to go to a laundromat when I have a $1700 set, which is what we have had to do, now and before.

This happens so often it is disgusting. Thru the expanded warranty they have to set up an appt. with whoever they have do the work. We had a repair man come and he could not find anything wrong. It did not act up for him, he asked me what I thought was wront with it! This is my 3rd washer and dryer and only Maytag set. I am so sick of going to get laundry out and it is full of water and you do not really know if it really washed clothing properly or not as it is full of water.

I have not had anyone come back because they act like you are nuts and do not care to get to the bottom of the washer problem. Also the guy that came was just plain lazy, when he kept asking me what was wrong with it. Once they get your money for the extended service contract they do not care about the customer. I would never, ever buy another Maytag washer and dryer or contract since they are not good products nor do they care about the products or the customer after we purchase them.

Purchased washer 1/18/2001 first service call May 2001 would not fill with cold water, replaced parts. In 2006 called because water does not spin out so ends cyle full of water and clothes sitting in it. Happens quite often, but not everytime, so do not know how well clothes are being washed and rinsed.

We have wasted out money on the warrenty contract, which expires next year. It has totally turned us against these plans.

In 2005 my wife and I purchased our Maytag SAV515DEWW (Legacy Series - Clothes Washer). Since then the washer has been breaking down for the past 3 years. I am not glad we felt the urgent need to continue to purchase 3 years of extended warrantees, costing us roughly $250 (like an extended fee). At this point we will not be buying a Maytag Washer or getting another extension on the warrantee after our current warrantee expires. Ok - I'll try to summarize (enjoy!):

Our washers first couple of repairs started with the comment we were using the wrong high suds detergent leading to a bad motor & belt (not spinning/rinsing the clothes properly/stopping - visualize dripping clothes after washer is done). A later service call was a new timer mechanism found to be the cause that lead to the 2nd motor to burn out (probably 1st motor too. Fyi - motor burn did smell throughout the house) - so after a 3rd motor, another belt, & another water pump (1st replacement was found rusted & had cracked) it lasted awhile longer.

Slow forward to a new transmission, again new belt(s) from bad transmission, again the special gaskets & seals, ... to the point that our washer now has roughly $1200 in new parts installed NOT including service calls & labor. Im not sure of the complete inventory gone into our washer, but the major parts are mentioned. We NOW have a water leak with a jet engine noise (yes called service again) - relating to a bad seal & bad bearings to be replaced. Our repair service is good - 'My Kudos to Ted ( & Yes, we have gotten to know him on a 1st name basis)'. Ted has asked if our washer can be replaced because of its big history of big problems, BUT you have to understand the small picture here that EACH year's new warrantee starts the repair cost at $0 for our same (rebuilt?) washer. ( Yes - this is where you can LOL ).

I don't have a total. For efforts in setting up service call & being there (I think we are on the 8th repair? sorry-losing track-lol), loss of use, don't know if any damage to floor, .... Most personal consequences are time spent getting it fixed, loss of use, and hearing my wife complain, ... again complain, ... again complain, .... You get the idea of Many Times EACH Time. Which I do agree, we should not be having these washer problems.

We purchased a Maytag Neptune washer MAH8700AWW and a Neptrune dryer MDE9700AYW 11/05. I would comments that the washer sounded like a jet taking off and it makes the wall on the other side of the utility room shake like an earthquake. After about a year I started finding a greasy residue on my clothes. I would remove the spots and then wash them again. After a year the glass in the door of the washing machine cracked in half. There was no reason for this to happen as I had not done a heavy load of clothes or even bumped the door. I had an extended warranty, but was rudely told that the glass breakage was not covered. My husband ordered the part for $100 and replaced it himself. I thought this might have contributed to the mildew problem. It did not.

I was told to use bleach and hot water to remove the mildew, which I did. It did not help. At times my clothes look like they have been used for cleaning as they are covered with greasy grime. If I miss some spots and the clothes get into the dryer the clothes have a permanent yellow spot. I have called Oldfield's for help. They just suggest the bleach or a product called A Fresh. I feel this is just something for them to say to get me off their backs.

I called hoping to get some help from my extended warranty and was told that this was not covered. They treated me as if I had done something to cause this to happen. It makes me sick to think that I thought I was purchasing a quality product with good customer support. I was wrong on both accounts. I paid over $2000.00 including the cost of a 5 year extended warranty which is useless. Maytag should be ashamed of themselves. Olfield's should have been more honest with me regarding the problems that could happen. We specifically asked them when we made the purchese about the mildew issue. They told us that the problem had been solved and these newer machines did not have a mildew issue. I will never even look at Maytag products again!

Will need to purchase a new washer. The cost of the extended warranty was a waste of money. I have developed allergies and am very suspicious of the mold growing in my washing machine. The time wasted in rewashing clothes cannot be bought. The waste of water, laundry soap and fabric sofener more than makes up for any savings this machine is supposed to offer.

Forget permanent press. If I am not there immediately when the dryer stops EVERYTHING is wadded up and a wrinkled mess.

The washer isn't any better . . . I have never seen clothes so tangled up . . . even if washed on the delicate cycle. It has always been this way and I am finally fed up. And one of them, I don't know if it is the washer or the dryer snags the towels. They are wearing out our clothes.

The wrinkles are so permanent I cannot get them out. I would like to get a new washer/dryer, but who has that kind of money. I put out the $2K thinking, okay, Maytag is the best. This will be my last washer and dryer. Right. I will look for something second hand.

I purchased a Maytag washer model # mav2755aww in July of 2006. It is only used during the summer months in my vacation home. I had a great experience with Maytag appliances in the past. This washer developed a faulty brake after only a handful of uses. Maytag was not willing to give me any satisfaction with repair of this appliance. I was informed by the repairman that Maytag does not manufacture the same quality products that they did years ago. Ownership has changed. My advise after my dealings with this company is to highly recommend that you think long and hard before purchasing an appliance from Mayutag. You are doing so at your own risk.

I will have to pay $300 to replace this part.

Less than 10 years ago (Aug 10, 1998) I purchased your Neptune stacked Washer/Dryer Combination for the princely sum of $3099.25 (CDN) I certainly could have bought a less expensive brand, but I did believe that I was paying for reliability and performance; an idea fostered and promoted by [their] advertisements.

I did have many issues early on with the machine which were taken care of under warranty, but in the past few months, the washing machine has been making a loud racket when spinning. I had my appliance repairman(a Maytag dealer) out to take a look and he advised me that the bearings are going and it would not be a wise investment to repair the unit--better to replace it.

I was disappointed that [the] machine has lasted such a relatively short time. I have had Sears brands costing a third of the price that lasted 15 years + without any repairs. Needless to say, when I purchase my new machine in the next few months, it will NOT be a Maytag

We purchased our Maytag Neptune Washer 4/19/01 from Lowe's in Troutdale, OR. According to Consumer Reports this was a good purchase. In September, 2004, we received a Claim Form to submit a claim, however, we had never had a problem and assumed that we had skated any problems.

Then November 3, 2006, I called and spoke to Christiana to report the mold in the door of washer. The only suggestion she had was to use l cup bleach and 2 cups hot water to cleanse the door. This I tried numerous times to no avail. I called back ( I have no name to whom I spoke)but she had no other suggestion. Needless to say some items did not survive everything I tried.

Now since all the time for filing a claim has passed, I can only think that we are out of luck for any help. I would appreciate it if anyone has found any more help other than replacing our washer, which at this time in retirement is not possible for us. I would appreciate any answer even if it is a negative one just to let us know that this has been received. Thank you for any help you can suggest.

A few months ago, I went through the horrible experience of trying to contact you all by phone. After 1 hour of being transferred from dept. to dept., I finally spoke with a representative who was going to send me a new ground fault interrupter for my Maytag Neptune front loading washing machine. I am still waiting for this product! I continue to have to reset my machine multiple times to get a single load of wash completed. Yes, I have had the Maytag Repairman out numerous times for this and he repeats that I need a new GFI. Your actions or lack thereof just reinforce my theory of not buying American. Your quality of product has digressed and there are no signs of improvement in the future.

As owner's of a Maytag Neptune, we were qualified for benefits in the Maytag Neptune class action lawsuit but were never notified! Maytag says their hands are bound by the Illinois Court who I believe nefariously allowed a short window of reply by individuals in the claim group(looks like 4 months. I never received notice so it seems very strange that the court would allow a settlement that excludes no responders. This actually encourages manufacturers to accidently skip notification of class members.

Now, I have a son who developed Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia during this time frame and if evidence ever emerges of a direct correlation between mold in toxic appliances, and incidence of Leukemia, I am prohibited from suing them at any point in time in the future...AND I WAS NEVER NOTIFIED!!! IT IS NOT LIKE I WAS CULPABLE FOR NOT RESPONDING, NO NOTICE WAS GIVEN AND THE COURT SHOULD HAVE TO PROVE THEY SENT US NOTICE!!! This infuriates me. All evidence indicates that Maytag and the State of Illinois intended to exclude us and insured this by not notifying all qualified members.

Maytag won't help and if a cause and effect relationship between my son's Leukemia and toxic appliances emerges, Ive been excluded from future remedy. The potential pain and suffering, financial loss, and employment stress have been severe as a result of the Leukemia: the financial hardship could acumulate well into 6 figures. The irony is I owned a toxic appliance at the same time I had a child develop Leukemia. What would you think as a parent?

Purchased a Maytag Legacy Series washing machine in 2003 from Home Depot, (model sav515daww). One week after the warranty expired the machine started making a sound when spinning similar to the sound of a jet engine. The machine also started leaking water out of the bottom. Called the Maytag repairman and was told that the bearings were going out. Since the warranty had expired, we had to pay for the repair.

In 2005, it happened again, same noise, same leakage, same broken part. We again paid for the repair, and were told that the replacement parts were improved and that the problem would be fixed. Just this week, (June 2008), we are having the same noise and same leakage. We do not want to pay for a third repair and have read several stories online of people having similar problems. Still Maytag has not recalled this washing machine.

We have paid several hundred dollars in repairs. We could have bought a new washing machine by now with the money we spent on repairs.

We purchased a compact Maytag stackable washer and dryer a few years ago. A year ago the washer wouldn't drain, when the repairman came we had to replace the pump and were told that Maytag had not designed a coin or any other kind of debris trap in this model. Hence coins make their way to the pump and damage it. Well, it just happened again. This is bad design!

The repair is over $200 each time, not to mention the sodden clothing hanging out to dry now!

Purchased a Maytag Neptune washer Model# MAH6700AWW on Aug 6, 2006 from Home Depot. Had to replace the circuit board a year later and in June, 2008 the circuit board is out again. At $491 dollars a pop? No thanks MAYTAG or WHIRLPOOL. No thanks to Home Depot either, because they let us have the Washer for $600 on a $900 unit because of surface scratches??? (because they knew about the problems with Maytag???)

Purchased a Neptune Maytag washer and dryer 3 years ago for our newly built home. Model MAH8700A. With the recommendation from the sales person at Martin's appliance and the so called good reputation of Maytag we purchased this front loader with pedestals for an extra $200.

The washer sounds like a the Army helicopters that fly over our house. The spin cycle is so loud and the washer jumps all over the laundry room. My tile floor is all marked up with black from the legs. The front panel is coming loose. We finally got a repairman in from A&E as recommended by Maytag. He stated that he has seen this before and the problem is that the cabinet is not sturdy enough for the power of the actual machine. Since the motor is more powerful than what the cabinet can handle it has caused internal damage from the horrible vibrations and shaking which has caused the front panal to start pulling away. The only thing that could be done was to replace the panel for $150 but it would continue to happen.

He told us that Maytag was aware of this problem and no longer makes the cabinet this weak. Therefore we are now forced to purchase a new washer only after 3 years. Definately will not purchase Maytag and will never recommend this brand to anyone.

Black marks to the tile floor that will not come clean. Needing to purchase a new machine after only 3 years when we spent over a thousand dollars on a brand that we thought would last at least 30 years

I purchased the MTW5770TQ0 s/n CW1540872 from Home Depot on 4/22/08. It was delivered on 4/29/08. We have had major issues with this washer from the first few weeks of use.

After three service calls for the same issues: Loud banging, off center basket, off balance spins with just water in washer (no clothes!). Unbalanced agitation, etc. etc. etc. there has been no resolution and the problems are worse than before. The repair service A & E border on incompetent and have had the washer apart many times within the same visit to try to get it running again. Wrong parts have been ordered and to this date still sit in my garage.

All calls to Whirlpool?Maytag Consumer Affairs have been exercises in frustration. I am an Engineer with over 40 years of experience and I know a lousy design when I see it. I am telling all associates and friends about my experience with Whirlpool/Maytag and will follow up by sending a copy of my experience to Maytag/Whirlpool CEO.

Frustration, loss of product use, multiple appointments for service calls without satisfaction.
