Ice accumulating at bottom of 7353 freezer unit. Electra the local distributor refuses to assist and/or provide advice what to do before calling a technician which costs around 65$ before parts. The rep says: "We do not provide any support on the phone. If you have a question you must schedule a technician and pay for it." Terrible attitude and support. Plastic drawers easily fall out and break and plastic handle parts that break. Will never buy one again.

In 16/09/2010 - 4 years ago I purchased SBSes 7353 Premium BioFresh NoFrost Liebherr Refrigerator. I knew (I thought) that it is very high quality and user friendly. And despite the high price relative to other brands I bought it. But week ago the BioFresh began to lose temperature. I called to local service and technician comes to check it. As he says there is a gas leak in the pipe located in the refrigerator body. And there is no way to fix it. The only option is exchange whole side (BioFresh and Freezer). And I need to buy it, which is half of whole refrigerator price that is only $1400! Another words after 4 years of use I need to buy new refrigerator!!! After that no response from customer service. No response for mails.

I don't know where to begin! 7 weeks ago, after one year of no problems, the ice maker quit working. I noticed frost on the back interior wall of the refrigerator from day one. Also, the left fridge door quit closing by itself. Called & got a guy named ** who sounded stupid and evasive, but apparently could diagnose it from South Carolina, because after making me fax a copy of the receipt to prove we 'bought' it (what!!!???) and I called back to check on fax & service, the female I spoke with told me he'd ordered a part and it was being sent to our service person here. I assumed it must be a regular problem for him to be 'able' to diagnose. It was a new ice tray.

Service guy came up and installed it and told us ** said "it had a crack". Nope. I could have told him that. Also ** was rude. He told me that my "Machine" didn't have doors that closed. The next person said door needed a new hinge cartridge. Yet another person said my ice problem was a little 1/2 inch magnet on the drawer. LOL! Service guy was not issued a work order to diagnose the freezer or fridge. So he didn't because his experience was he would not get paid by this company. In fact a LOT of phone calls only to be met with complete resistance.

A "tech" person who had to flip through a repair pamphlet to tell us what buttons to push. HE kept telling me my ice maker was leaking. NO it wasn't!!! Can you see Hawaii from South Carolina?? Awful service people and I think they are paid to make the customer wait it out as long as possible, diagnosing tiny little problems and sending useless parts to placate us. Still no service person - no ice, no resolving the issue. Seven weeks and counting.

I think if the hinge cartridge ever arrives, the service person here (who is excellent) will be allowed to diagnose it at that point, but no coming out to do just one thing. So now my food in fridge is starting to freeze and I'm just counting the days until someone comes up here. I will NEVER buy a Liebherr product again and I urge anyone researching one to read all of the reviews. They are all the same lesson!

My refrigerator developed some problems, which I accept. However, because it was out of warranty, the appliance store would not service it. None of the local repairers would work on a Liebherr, and the main customer service at Liebherr couldn't provide a service rep for the entire Olympic Peninsula! What good is a refrigerator that can't be serviced? Liebherr has not developed adequate service coverage. They shouldn't sell equipment that they can't assure service.

Oh what a new looking fridge freezer but I am afraid within a few months of purchasing this nice shiny appliance all our problems started. First the icemaker gave us too much ice only for a few weeks. Later it stopped dispensing ice all together. After a few more weeks all back to normal only for the problem to occur again and again and trying to get an engineer out to fix the ** thing. Well better chance of me finding and capturing the yeti after countless emails and we refusing to let the previous three different contractors out to look at our fridge again. Did Liebherr send out a different one? Www.agsrefrigeration.co.uk they came out and after inspecting the back off the fridge section found that there was a fault with insulation of the cabinet letting cold air and freezing up the tubing to the icemaker. In the end they submitted a report to the manufacturer who finally relented and gave us a new replacement.

We are holding our breath and hoping we have no further problems with this one. However don't think I would go through all the expense of buying one of these fridge freezers again.

Why would anyone choose to buy these expensive contraptions? Liebherr website offers no possibility to register a complaint or ask for help... other than through the service people who in this case are part of the problem. Six weeks without a functioning refrigerator last summer... and no response much less remedial action!!! We naively asked Liebherr via service-appliances.us@liebherr.com (repeatedly) and via team.online team.online@liebherr.com or any suggestions on how to avoid these problems... or at least have them fixed much faster and reasonably.

The house we bought a year ago in Washington DC came with a three-piece Liehberr appliance: refrigerator, freezer and wine cooler. So far the only one that has worked well is the least useful one the wine cooler. Please escalate this because it must not be a normal situation... otherwise why would anyone would buy a Liebherr refrigerator? If our problems are not fixed definitively I will certainly be speaking loudly and negatively about Liehberr.

Soon after we moved in the refrigerator (a large premium unit serial number 40168030909984 and service ref. **) became a freezer -- resulting a wastage of food and the separate freezer stopped producing ice. A repairman from M&M came promptly diagnosed a sensor problem for the refrigerator -- ordered the part (which took weeks to arrive) and then returned to fix the problem (two service calls and parts charged, of course).

The same problem occurred nine months later. The refrigerator froze our food, the repairman came, charged to diagnose a sensor problem, ordered the part and we have had two missed appointments to install it (once they came within the agreed time window but without the promised 30 minute warning and missed us; the second time -- a week later -- they called within the agreed window... just to say that there was an emergency and they would not be able to come for another week!). So the refrigerator is prone to problems and the maintenance system seems to boil down to just one person who handles Liebherr and a company that never has any parts in stock. As for the freezer the solution seemed quite involved and expensive and we decided not to bother (...again, what does this say about Liebherr products and service?)

We moved to Henderson, NV, the refrigerator was working perfectly fine before we moved. When we set it up in the new home we found that frost was accumulating on the back wall of the fridge. The new home had a special built in area surrounded by cabinets. We pulled the fridge further out from the back wall to give it more circulation. We then eliminated the frost by using a hand dryer to melt the frost and wiped it clean. Then the key to resolving this problem is to raise the temp in your refrigerator. The whole problem was that we did not give it enough room for air to circulate and we had the fridge temp too low. We still love our Liebherr and you will too if you make sure to keep your interior temp at 44 and we keep our freezer at 6.

After three years our Liebherr fridge freezer became unreliable in that the temperature of fridge varied between 8 degrees and ambient temperature. Apparently oil (or water?) had been drawn into the compressor, caused by power cuts (we live in a rural area). Repairs were in the region of 600. Liebherr originally offered to pay 50% of the parts but this only amounted to about 150 and we couldn't afford the rest. We managed to get the insurance to cough up after being without fridge freezer for 3 months, and decided to accept Liebherr's offer to offset future raise in premium. However they took advantage of the fact that we had insurance and declined to pay. DON'T BUY THIS IF YOU ARE LIKELY TO SUFFER A POWER CUT! Apparently they are VERY sensitive!

Purchased both units (Built in refrigerator and freezer) in December of 2011. Problems started right away with inconsistent temperatures in the refrigerator, after service calls it was never resolved. We bought a 5 year extended warranty for both machines, it is a good thing we did. Now three years later the freezer ice maker has been replaced and I am sure it will need to be again. The refrigerator has never cooled properly but as of late forms heavy ice on the back to a point that the drawers cannot close which means that the door will not close. After several service calls the ice problem may be resolved but the inside temperature is now never higher 30 degrees f., and you cannot turn it off. If you want it to stop you must unplug it, no small task with a built in. After living with these very badly built machines for the last three years I truly believe that the only place that you will get less for your money is with a speeding ticket. Having owned Sub Zero for many trouble free years in the past, I can assure you that they will get our business next time.

Since purchase the ice maker no longer works, the side panel refrigerator shelving pulled off and broke, the back of the refrigerator is icing, the vegetable and meat drawers fill with water, and - last straw - the door handle broke off! Poor manufacturing and substandard materials completely negate the refrigerators convenient sizing. I feel foolish for paying so much for this carelessly made train wreck.

We loved the look and features showing in and out. Within a few short months, the insides’ starting falling apart. The drawer tracks kept falling off and the milk shelf restraints broke loose. Just five years later, just after the warranty was done, the inside of the refrigerator part started freezing up and frost formed all over the back wall. We hassled back and forth with Customer Service and they finally agreed to send us a part (Evap Motor). We had to pay to have it installed. Now we have it set at 40 degrees, and it still freezes some foods. I am so unhappy with this product and would not recommend it to anyone.

In the 3 years since this very expensive electronic creature has haunted our lives, the only good news to report is that because of his incredibly numerous visits, we've become good enough friends with our repairman to invite him to dinner parties. Under Warranty Problems: wouldn't hold temperature in freezer or fridge, faulty temp sensor, low coolant level, faulty thermostat, condensation and frost build up in freezer and fridge, non- functional ice maker, clogged drain- twice, doors would not stay closed.

Post - Warranty issues - (Now the real fun begins): odd condensation and frost build up - again, another faulty sensor, two ice maker repairs, then an entire new ice maker was then needed - not cheap, as of today that one (all of two months old) no longer works and creates only useless ice sculptures in the bottom of the bin, to "fix" that I am to believe a simple value needs replacing - but just for him to get at that valve buried somewhere deep within and behind the beast which is built into the wall. So an extremely time-consuming and costly repair will be our reward .

So after countless bouts of dealing with waiting for repairs and throwing out spoiled food, we just have to give up on ice for a while. But most likely we will have to give up on the whole thing. We will miss our friendly repairman. But would honestly rather buy a fridge that does, in fact, simply work for more than a week or two at a time and does not require a second mortgage to maintain. Without exaggeration, I've wasted more time and money on this allegedly simple household appliance than on my needy old car- by a factor of at least 10.

IKB 3650 - I see I've joined the Liebherr fan club. I've also thought that buying a state of the art fridge is the technical and financial solution for many years. It became a technical and financial challenge for many years now. It also began shortly after warranty expiry date. It started to build up ice on the back plate and in the Biofresh zone. The temperature lowered to minimum (4 deg. C). No matter what I did it fell to minimum. The service team changed the NTC-sensor, charged 40 and good luck. In three years this happened four times. Also the door hinge damper loosened and doesn't do its job anymore. My SWMBO found out a trick. If the fridge is off for a couple of hours, then after she switches it on, it worked maybe for a week or so. But it's an old trick and like all old tricks, it's also not working anymore. I'm guilty for buying the expensive piece of kitchen appliance, I hear every day. So all good men. Eliminate at least one reason for anger and don't buy the fancy Liebherr.

Two issues: The main problem is a seriously flawed design in their model RI-1400 refrigerator. A fatal flaw that they should cover as a defect and not rely on the "its out of warranty" gambit. The problem. Every 18-24 months the temperature sensor fails and the refrigerator becomes a freezer. Totally useless at that point.

Then the real issue. They refuse to support the problem. They rely on "policy" that I have to work through a dealer, even though not one within 100 miles. They WILL NOT sell me the sensor, even though I know it's the problem and have fixed it myself once before. They forced me to order it through a dealer and they had issues of their own. They would not give them a price until they placed an order and they would not sell to them on account - forced them to use a personal credit card! When it works, it works great. But a refrigerator that fails every 2 years - like clockwork - is no bargain. And you will be without a refrigerator for days/weeks while you work through Liebherr's anti customer service. DO NOT BUY LIEBHERR.

In summer 2008 we bought for €1500 what we thought was a state of the art built in refrigerator, the Liebherr IKB 3650. Only 3 years later - in 2011 - the door started not closing properly and cooling was poor. The local service replaced (after 3 visits) the "heavy duty" door hinges for €200 (past warranty period). The year after - 2012 - cooling was poor again. They came again and changed a sensor, plus check the fan, for another €70-80. It started working again somehow better. In 2013 cooling was poor again (10-12 Celsius) and they came over and over, changing more sensors, for which they did not charge spare parts, only visit labour time €40.

Finally in June 2014 cooling was poor again. The local service came another 2-3 times, charging another €77 for changing a sensor and check. Nothing happened. They came back and placed a monitoring device for 3-4 days. After this they said they have to replace the motherboard (€160), which they did, yet nothing improved. Then they said they must take it to their premises and fix it and this is what we did. After 23 days (!!!) they told me it's ready and I have to pay another €193 for the new compressor motor, while the appliance is totally new!!!

They brought it home, it worked for 10 days and then dropped dead. They told me it is not repairable, they can only return to me the value of the latest spare parts, "buy it back" by offering me a discount of €600 on the price of the new model and bring me the new IKB 3550-20. Pls note that due to the built-in construction in my kitchen, I have very limited choices for a fridge. I accepted, paying the difference of €500 and today they brought it. Reading the reviews on your site, I wonder if I made a BIG MISTAKE and if I should better find and buy another brand????

I bought a Liebherr fridge, thinking that I was getting a high-end fridge in the class of Sub-Zero. At first, I had a number of smaller issues -- screws from the door hinges fell off, the plastic drawers crack -- not what you'd expect from such an expensive product but not the end of world. More importantly, I have had a number of more serious issues right after the two-year warranty expired.

Several times starting from before the warranty expired, I had to scrape ice off the back of the freezer -- it got so bad that the door wouldn't shut. When I finally realized that this wasn't normal ice build-up, I called Liebherr. Oscar ** of the Liebherr US Service Center at first refused to fix the issue, as I reported it shortly after the warranty expired. He finally extended a "one time courtesy" as I had pictures dating from when the warranty was still in effect and he sent someone to replace the failed evaporation sensor.

I then noticed a build-up of water under the vegetable drawer. Unfortunately, Mr. ** is refusing to repair this, saying that the warranty expired. If you're looking to purchase a high-end, quality appliance that will last for years, you should look for a company that builds quality products that don't break shortly after their warranty expires, and a company that stands behind their product. Unfortunately, Liebherr is neither.

Germany sent a mail to Electra the Israel distributor and a few days later Electra called me to say that they would reduce the price of the parts to NIS1470 ($400). I subsequently brought the parts from Holland and had my own fridge mechanic do the repairs. Having a seal fail just a year after the warranty expires, I consider as very poor quality for an appliance that was over $4000 in 2011. When I called customer service for a replacement part I was told that the part is on back order and no time of delivery could be given. SO I paid $3000 for this hunk of junk, which started malfunctioning the first year. The sensor had to be replaced three times--and the repair people put it in upside down once. After the first year, I had to pay at least $150 to get it diagnosed--not fixed, diagnosed.

When you pay $3000 for a fridge, you expect it to work or be fixed for free. The fridge continued to malfunction periodically beeping and warming. Usually I could fix it. But recently it died. The lights just went out and the buttons didn't respond. The beeping wouldn't go off even when I tripped the fuse. It was driving me crazy. I finally put a heavy blanket over the fridge to mute the noise. I paid my super $100 to fix it. He unplugged and replugged it. Within two weeks it died again--the only thing working was the incessant beep. I had to wear earplugs. I called the Liebherr repair people and it cost $160 for them to come out and tell me that the computer was faulty and would cost $1000 to replace. This is truly the refrigerator that keeps on costing. But they did show me a neat trick to keep it alive. I think it was press the power and alarm button on the right and increase the freezer number to as high as it will go. This resets the lights and the readings--false though they said they may be. I don't care, as long as it's cold. I would rather buy another fridge that works than pay another $1000 for this defective part. If you ask me, Liebherr is a terrible company and would advise anyone not to buy anything from them--especially a fridge.

I have bought several Liebherr refrigerators, including two model 1360s. Both have had sealed unit problems that have prevented the units from cooling. Each time, I have had to call service people recommended by the national Liebherr office in Arizona. Each time it has taken weeks to get service and several times the service people do not show up. When they do, they say that it is a "sealed system issue" and that they cannot fix it. Then, I get another service recommendation from the Arizona office-- someone supposedly qualified to service a sealed system. And, ultimately, usually after several additional weeks or even months, the next service company comes out to see the unit and also notes that it is a "sealed system problem," that Liebherr will not authorize them to service and that the unit must be replaced.

Then, with the unit still under warranty, Liebherr ultimately calls someone to replace the unit, but this again takes months. I have dealt with 5 different service companies on these refrigerators, all of whom have expressed frustration with the Liebherr process. When I had my latest issue with a Liebherr 1360, two of the companies I had dealt with previously, including the company that replaced the last 1360, said that they will not do Liebherr work anymore and refused to come out. These two companies were still on the list of contractors recommended by the Liebherr Arizona office. This is a bad refrigerator with obvious design problems and the Liebherr repair and warranty network is extremely slow and frustrating to deal with. It seems that the strategy is always to require someone additional to come out to look at the unit while not authorizing anyone to do a repair on some defective component of the sealed compressor system. Stay away from Liebherr.

Liebherr looks good but that's where it stops. We purchased a new one but after over 12 trips in 1 1/2 years for diagnosis, replacement, or providing loaners - the retailer finally gave us another new one! [They had already replaced three sensors [one twice], the main module, a thermistor, the door seal, even the door {The Consumer Product Safety Commission had already faulted them for the problem}]. Well the new one started giving us problems after 18 months.

The alarm would go off in the middle of the night. Nothing else appeared wrong. We called the retailer - they "responded" a month later. The temperatures of both the refrigerator and freezer gyrated wildly. [The digital temperatures on the top did not correspond to a refrigerator thermometer that was accurate on other devices]. Liebherr said there was nothing they could do because our "warranty" was over. Don't expect "customer" service. The refrigerator is now gone.

At the time the ice maker was replaced, the technician mentioned that the units were not well engineered and were a constant repair issue. Now we are out of warranty and face the repair bills for a piece of equipment that is poorly engineered and will surely break again. Don't buy this fridge with the ice maker, it will break and you will ultimately be stuck with the repair bills.

We have a 36" double door - double freezer drawer model and love it. Recently, we purchased a 24" model and hate it! The 24" model looks great and is a conversation piece - "until" the compressor kicks in. You can not believe the sound! The factory authorized a guy to come down and listen to it - then they replaced the compressor. It is still noisy. They came back and told me "that's just the way it is". Since they deemed that the noise is "normal" (it's just as noisy now as it was with the original compressor), Liebherr will not pay the service contractor for his efforts! I am so disappointed with this company. I could yell. How can this smaller unit sound like an airplane taking off when the compressor kicks on, yet the large unit we own is nice and quiet? Definitely a design problem!

Bought in March 2011. It is now failing, only 2.5 years old. Temperature alarm started to sound but everything appeared alright. 6 weeks after, the freezer was okay but the BioFresh compartment began to freeze. 3 weeks after, the refrigerator was down. The compressor starts running normally, then quickly switches to a strange mode where its noise is very low. It is hot, and the superfrost button flashes together with the temperature display. No cooling anymore.

Consequence was to bring back on Saturday night with wife and teenager, a 17-year- old SIEMENS 1.85 m fridge/freezer that never stops working. As it has been carried, laid flat for 30 min., it took a day to restart. We had to borrow frozen accumulators from neighbors and transfer food to them on Sunday. What a lovely mister Liebherr! Looking at what people think of Liebherr, I feel desperate! All these complaints around the world whereas the brand claims to be top notch quality and makes us pay for it. Mine has cost 1200 euros.

I am really afraid of paying to get it fixed only temporarily since I read that consumers continue suffering failures after repairs. I have read also that this product often fails due to a temperature probe defect suffered by plenty of customers. Liebherr should recognize this defect and offer repair, and I have asked them to make it for me. But Germany treats badly its workers and its clients today, and I have no answer as yet. In order to avoid being ripped off by a repair service which would change the thermostat and more, I consider changing the probe(s) myself. It doesn't seem too complicated but I have to find the time... Don't buy anymore Liebherr...

This refrigerator has been constant trouble. I've owned it for 4 years and 3 months and in that time I've had 9 service calls (6 for refrigerator problems & 3 for the replacement of the original French doors that didn't close correctly and a seal replacement.) On top of that, I have a wood floor in my kitchen and this appliance is "built in." Every time it has to be serviced, it has to be removed from the cabinet carefully so the floor is not damaged. When I bought it, I expected I would not have to remove it for a good 15-20 years, until I had to buy a new refrig. But after owning this for just a few months, the refrigerator stopped working and I needed a new compressor.

It took the service company 3 visits and multiple hours to determine this. I was without a fridge for more than 2 weeks. When I asked the company to pay me back for the lost food, I was told they didn't do that. Now, I need a second new compressor and despite the fact that it was put in last Friday, the refrigerator is still not working. 10 days after I called, I am waiting for another part that hopefully will make this big boy work. Again, no refrigerator for 1 1/2 weeks. The Scottsdale service rep (Jerry) blamed the repair people (who were doing their best to figure out what was wrong) and he never apologized to me for any inconvenience when I spoke to him.

His attitude was rude and unhelpful. He told the service people that I was "very close to the end of the 5 year sealed system warranty" anyway. He did agree to pay for the part. I asked him if I had a lemon or if all Liebherrs were like this. He was evasive and attitude and told me there was nothing more he could do other than call Germany! This refrigerator was expensive, but it's been a constant aggravation and I would never buy another one. When it dies, as I'm sure it will in the not too distant future, I'm going to spend the additional money and get a Sub-Zero.

We are on our second Liebherr Refrigerator within the space of six years and this second one is now giving trouble. The main part of the fridge (non freezer part) is freezing the food and there is ice forming at the back of it. These were expensive fridges and to be honest we feel now if we had bought something much more cheaper it would have been much, much better. We feel now that is probably what we will do and just get rid of it. It was so much trouble with the first one what with trying to get it fixed and replaced. After much contact with the company responsible then I don't think we could go down that route again. In the end we had to buy a new Liebherr fridge from them as the warranty had expired (this first fridge was only about two to three years old) but they did give it to us at a considerable discount to be fair. But all this after a lot of phone calls and general hassle. I would never touch a Liebherr Refrigerator again.

After doing some online research followed by speaking to a seemingly intelligent salesperson at a reputable local appliance dealer, I purchased a Liebherr F-CS-2062. My reason for buying a Liebherr was that in reviews I'd read, I was reasonably assured that its operation would be quiet. The best thing I can say about this appliance is the architecture - both inside and outside is beautiful. Everything from that point goes downhill.

The dual compressors are noisy. A friend who was visiting me one day, as we were sitting in the adjacent Den, asked me if I had a washing machine running in the kitchen. No, I said, only the refrigerator is running in the kitchen. I hate the French doors. The single refrigerator door wasn't available at the time I purchased the unit, and I don't find anything appealing about the French doors except maybe the aesthetics they add to the cabinet. The freezer is too small relative to the size of the refrigerator. It has two drawers which are convenient for finding things, but overall the freezer is undersized.

A refrigerator of good quality and higher price should give trouble free service for several years. This has not been the case. After two years of service, condensate started leaking onto the floor from the refrigerator cabinet. The unit was still under warranty during that time, but it took four calls by a service tech. to correct the issue. At the time of service, the tech. told me that the Liebherr units are "over" engineered (I took this to mean I would have further problems). He was correct. After four years of service, frost has accumulated on the rear panel inside the refrigerator, and the temperature inside the refrigerator has become erratic. Calling and e-mailing the Liebherr service center in Scottsdale yields little help other than getting the name and number of my local service tech. This is after I waited 20 minutes on hold to speak to a rep.

I've been using American refrigerators for about 61 years that I can remember, and there was never a service call on one of them. It is usually the sort of appliance that one has delivered, put in place, plugged in, and life is good thereafter. This is the most expensive refrigerator I've purchased and the least reliable. In retrospect, I'd not have purchased it had I any idea service issues would be this intensive. I hate to think of a $500 service call to correct the current problem, only to have something else go wrong in 1 or two years. Maybe this Liebherr unit will become an expensive pantry in my kitchen and I'll buy a noisier American or South Korean workhorse refrigerator and put it in the garage where I can't hear it.

I am the unhappy owner of a Liebherr KGT-4066 refrigerator. I bought the appliance in April of 2000 for 1300 euros thinking that I bought a first rate fridge with two motors that would last for many years. Almost immediately, the problems started. First, it was a minor problem with the thermostat, and I didn't mind so much the money the authorized technician charged me. Alas, it was only the beginning. In the years that followed, many plastic parts of the interior (drawers, baskets, trays) broke and had to be replaced, with considerable cost.

Most importantly, the door seal had cracks almost from the second year but when I asked the authorized technician to replace it, he answered that it meant to replace the whole door, which cost 250 Euros! So I never replaced it. To make a long story short, although the motor still works fine, I use shelves from my old fridge and I cannot store a single bottle of water on the door shelves since there is no remaining plastic hook to hang them on. I would never recommend this fridge to anyone. It was an expensive fridge with cheap, defective plastic parts.

I heard back from them immediately! So I sent them the entire story. They got in touch with the store it was purchased from and who did the repairs. Liebhherr agreed to pay for all parts/labor for repairs. It seems that all the freon had leaked out! I've never heard of this in some 50 years of owning fridges of various makes and ages. Their repair people couldn't even find where the leak was so Liebherr replaced the entire unit (and as they had changed the dimensions since the original unit was purchased, they also replaced the fridge part). So I'm satisfied, but it took public shaming on FB to get anything done. However, I would never recommend their fridge/freezers to anyone. Don't know about their excavating equipment.

The lead in: This is the 4th problem with this unit in 5 years of use. And it's the second incidence of this specific problem - the refrigerator ceases to regulate temperature properly and turns into a freezer. The first time, they replaced a sensor and installed a kit to make it easier for the service person to replace the sensor (indicating this is a known issue). I asked for a call to discuss this unit, which I consider to be seriously flawed. A refrigerator should run for years (not one or two, but 10 or 20) without problems. It is unacceptable for a premier product to fail in its design mission every two years. The cost to get it serviced, and in lost food, is significant.

The Liebherr warranty is useless, because they will not honor it. I have always had to pay for a service call, even when in warranty. They did agree to give me a new sensor this time, but only after a long argument and they refused to send it overnight (too expensive!). Meanwhile I am without a refrigerator and have a lot of spoiled food. Their party-line response: “It's an x year old unit, what do you expect? It's a complicated electronic device, what do you expect? Your warranty has expired, sorry there is nothing we can do.”

Their consistent position regardless of the issue, the severity of the consequences, whatever is that they cannot address it, that you will have to pay for all service, that they do not have design issues (which they clearly do). Basically it's denial and the big lie. This is one of the worst customer service experiences I have ever had and this is one of the most unreliable products I have ever owned. Four years ago, I bought a Liebherr wine cooler and refrigerator. The wine cooler died as soon as the warrant expired. Liebherr referred me to an appliance repair that is "authorized" to repair Liebherr products. The guy who showed up had no clue. He was on the phone talking to somebody in the office, getting instructions. Finally he gave up and told me that they will be in touch. After waiting for two days, since my wine was about to go bad, I was forced to buy another Liebherr wine cooler because it was a built in unit and I had no choice.

During the recent hurricane, Sandy, the power went out in my apartment. I turned the fridge off. When the power came back on, the fridge did not. The light was on but the compressor was not. I called Liebherr despite the fact that the compressor did not go on ( the compressor warranty is 5 years, so it is under warranty)! They said that since it is no longer under warranty, I should contact their authorized service centers. They gave me 3 options. The one that "fixed" my wine cooler was not one of them.

I called the first one but they were not authorized to work on compressors. The second one came a day later and his diagnosis was that it might be the compressor but maybe not, maybe it is the inverter. It took 5 days to order the inverter which will arrive in 3 days. I will be without a fridge for 3 weeks by then. If it is not the inverter, the service guy has to get authorization from Liebherr to order the compressor. I called Liebherr to find out how long will it take to get an authorization and get a compressor. The guy yelled at me and told me that I am asking a stupid question and he cannot estimate how long it will take. I left a VM for his supervisor, Josh, but he has not called back.

I bought a Liebherr fridge almost 3 years ago and had several problems with the freezer right away. I called and they sent someone who supposedly fixed it. Not to long after I more problems and called again. They sent someone again and supposedly fixed it. Not to long after that I noticed some strange noises and things and called and called and wrote emails and was blown off. I was told there was nothing wrong. I have the emails I sent and they are dated (if you wanted to see them). They told me there was nothing wrong. I was still sure there was something wrong but now I did not think I could call. The noises continued and I just let it go for then.

Recently within the last few months I noticed water leaking in the bottom of the freezer. So much so that when I went to pull the bottom drawer of the freezer out it was stuck to ice on the bottom. I waited this time to call because of what had happened to make sure it was not me being paranoid. It is continuing to happen. I finally called and was told it is not under warranty anymore and I would have to pay for a service call. This is an ongoing problem they decided to ignore and now they want me to pay for it. I do not agree and think they need to take care of the ongoing problem. This is why I am getting in touch with you all. I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and have been going back and forth for months; finally BBB offered arbitration to which Liebherr refused! The following notes are all the info I gave them with many details.

Once again the biggest issue that was not even mentioned in any of their responses is the 5-year warranty for the "the sealed system". I already sent the information directly from the Liebherr website regarding the 5-year warranty to Ms. S. If my freezer is leaking and the fridge is not draining properly within the sealed system, how is that not part of the 5 year warranty? They continue to not address that point in any of their responses. The other thing I do not understand them saying is that I never said my freezer leaked and that I only called about the temperature. This is not true and they sent someone to me twice once for the temperature and once for the leak in my freezer. The first person they sent actually not only saw that my freezer had such a big leak that I had to turn off my freezer to let it defrost (in a frost free freezer). It was frozen solid at the bottom of the freezer from a leak! The same thing is happening. Are they denying sending 2 service people to me?

The first service call was Oct. 25th, 2007 and Elliot was the service person; you can check directly with them about that service call and what it was for to verify the initial leak in my freezer. The 2nd service company came here Dec. 19th, 2008 and they dealt with the thermostat and changed it. Let’s get the first service person to talk about this and the frozen solid freezer that he helped me get rid of all the frozen ice. We boiled water to unfreeze the ice. They continue to talk about sending someone for service in regards to the temp and again not once have they addressed the first service call? After that I did call again and was talked out of service and that is when they say they gave me a "tutorial" and thanked them for it. If telling me to turn down the temp and push a button is a tutorial, then that is true. While it is true that I said thank you and they told me to turn the temp down in the freezer and put the ventilation on (and I did both those things), it did not seem to stop what I felt was funny noises coming from the fridge and I did tell them that. They chose to talk me out of service and ignore my feeling that the noises were not a problem.

This is what happens every time I would try and call and they talk me out of service. I really need the help of the BBB. The last time I did call the person told me someone would call me back and no one has. That was over 3 months ago and it was not the first time someone would say they would call me back and they did not. I am sorry but there service center is not serving me and I still need my fridge fixed. The note sent from Liebherr service failed to mention that within a few months of my original purchase the freezer completely froze solid.. So much so it took over 24 hours to defrost while the entire unit was shut off. It is supposed to be a "frost free" freezer. Within a short time of that I started having other issues and on more than one occasion I called was told I would be called back and I was not. I finally got them to come back after I had to call them more than once and there was an issue. Again and within a few months of that I started calling again, I was sure there was something wrong and while I initially contacted them 1.5 years ago the calls and emails continued on. I wanted someone to come back and they refused.

They did not call me back and told me things that did not make sense to me and refused me service. They did tell me to turn the temp on the freezer down; however, it did not stop the noises I suspected to be part of the trouble. They continued and told me things that did not make sense to me and just plain refused me help. I did send the email threads to you. A few months went by again and the noises were present and this time I started looking in the freezer again (I rarely use the freezer) and once again the bottom drawer of the freezer was stuck because it was iced in! There was a solid sheet of ice again in my freezer. To say this is not an ongoing issue is not correct. It is not the first time my frost free freezer was over run with ice. I was actually not looking forward to calling because of all I had gone through with the men who work there. I called and told the man of the issue and he said and I quote, "Sounds like the last man to service your unit left a piece of paper in there." That was the explanation to me and why it was leaking so much that ice was forming again. From the moment I bought the $2500.00 fridge I have had problems with the unit as well as the customer service.
