My LG French door refrigerator almost caught fire this morning when I discovered that the interior light and temperature panel was hanging by the wires. The light bulb sockets were black from the heat and everything inside was very hot. There was obvious melting on the plastic. All the food up top is lost and I am afraid to even have it on. My freezer is full though and I have nowhere to store the food so it is still running. I have removed the lights. I have an extended warranty, but the technician isn't coming until Wednesday.

I was so excited to be able to have matching appliances for the first time ever, after 15 yrs. We choose all LG. What a huge mistake! We came home after an afternoon away, and our home was full of smoke. Our great refrigerator had melted inside. It ruined about $200.00 worth of food. We took pictures and documented everything, but it was one excuse after another. They wouldn't replace it and we had the extended warranty!

They said it must of been something that we did, not their fault but when the replacement part came in, it was totally remodeled to guard against it happening again. You know that they have had problems! They never paid for our food, after saying that "we never got your fax". We sent it 3 different times.

It is so poorly made, doors cracking, etc. That is just the fridge! We have had so many service calls on our LG dishwasher. I hate it. I would rather just do them by hand, because it doesn't wash anything! I hate the stove, the temp is always off. The only thing I like is the microwave, and they are hard to screw up. Did I mention that the fridge problem started before the end of our first year? Buyer beware!

I purchased a LG French door bottom drawer 25 cu. ft. unit from Home Depot. We didn't by the extended warranty because the compressor, etc are warranted for 7 years. Just over 1 year after we bought it, I came home and smelled hot electrical smell. I opened the refrigerator and the control unit at the top of the compartment had gotten so hot that it had melted where it fastened to the top of the refrigerator and had sagged down approximately 3/4". The electric smell was really bad with the door open, so I ran to the breaker panel and turned off the kitchen outlets.

I called Best Buy where I purchased the thing and they refused to do anything because I live more than 40 miles from the store (in the middle of nowhere). They gave me the number for LG. If you ever wanted an Alice in wonderland experience, just call the customer service number. We were misled, lied to, put off, etc, etc, etc. repeatedly. The first person would say something, the second person would say something else, the third person wasn't there but was expected back shortly (but never called back) and then the cycle would begin again.

You do not have enough minutes on your cell phone to get a straight answer out of these people! They finally referred me to two service companies. The first was 40 miles away and wouldn't come because LG is such a crummy bunch to deal with, and the second was only 5 miles away but said LG wanted them to 'become qualified' to work on LG products, whatever that means, so they were not willing to work on it either. I wrote to Consumer Reports about the safety hazard the melting control unit represented, but never heard from them (they probably get so many complaints about LG that they never have time to get back to anyone.

If the terrorists ever ** the US, I hope that they get LG's US headquarters first! I finally took out the melted glass covers over the light bulbs in the control unit, replaced the 60 watt bulbs with 35 watt ones, cleaned up the melted plastic between the control unit and the top of the refrigerator and screwed the control unit up with 1 1/4" sheet metal screws!

Since then the cross shelf above the crisper drawers has broken on one side (my wife taped that together with athletic tape), the bottom freezer drawer handle is coming loose on one side (don't know how I'm going to fix that) and the bottom freezer compartment started melting intermittently. I did figure that out. To get to the ice tray, you have to pull out a drawer.

The ** ice maker is made so that it overfills the tray which knocks ice cubes out into the back of the freezer when you pull out the cube drawer. You can either turn the cube off manually or keep an eye on the back of the freezer compartment all the time. A cube had fallen off the back of the cube tray and got caught between the tray and the back wall. This kept the cube drawer from closing completely, which in turn kept the freezer drawer from closing completely, which in turn allowed the temp inside to rise and melt the cubes (including the one between the cube drawer and the back wall), which in turn stuck on the back wall (which, as you can tell, causes an endless cycle of melting and freezing), which in turn ended when my wife reached in with a spatula and scraped the cube off the back wall so everything would shut right and let the freezer freeze properly! Now (another year and a half later) has started to make strange noises when it runs and when the cube empties.

i purchased an LG french door bottom freezer in July 2009. The freezer is getting a frost buildup and I have read that this is a common problem of which LG will not address. The unit is 3 months past the warranty period. Based on what I have read, there appears to be no recourse without exposing oneself to countless hours of frustration. I have seen recommendations regarding class action lawsuits and I agree.

I purchased a LG French Door Refrigerator while remodeling my kitchen 2 1/2 years ago at Home Depot in Clearwater Florida. We starting using our refrigerator in January of 2008. We had no problems with the unit until we received a letter in the mail alerting us they did not meet the energy efficiency that had originally been publicized with this product. I would be receiving a $40 check for the next 14 years to cover the overage cost of use. Then the government required LG to change all these types of refrigerators by replacing a circuit board. Another letter was sent telling us to call to set up our appointment for this part to be exchanged and we were put on a waiting list for several weeks (8 to 10 weeks?). We were assured that it would be covered under manufacturer warranty.

The part finally came in and they came out to install it. Within a few days, we noticed the ice production had dropped a lot and that our vegetables were either freezing in one area of the unit or going bad in another. I called LG to report the problem and they told me because I did not have an extended warranty they would be charging us for labor to send someone out.

After demanding to speak to a supervisor, several more phone calls and being left on hold for 20 - 40 minutes at a time, they agreed to come out at no charge to repair our refrigerator, only because I insisted they had caused this problem because of the circuit board change in this unit. They came out and changed many parts. I was told by the tech from Class Appliances (they were the service company LG sent out )that the change had caused the ice production to slow down and there was nothing that could be done about that, but they thought they could fix the food loss!

This did not take care of the problem. I continue to throw fruit, vegetables, fresh garlic and potatoes away because of the freezing issue or the food would dehydrate? After several more calls and again arguing with LG that they had caused the problem ,they agreed to come back out. They sent Class Appliances out on a few more occasions and then when I went to the executive supervisors, they sent out one of their own Tech from LG Electronics. He divulged that LG did not know how to fix this problem in a humid state like Florida. In fact, if I lived in a state like Minnesota I would probably not even be having a problem. He determined that my refrigerator needed to be replaced.

After going through a lot of paper work they required including peeling the label out of my original unit and mailing it to them before they would set up delivery, they also did not want the unit back! I would be responsible for getting rid of the unit I had.

Finally, they delivered the new unit to my house in late February 2010. The new unit has even worse ice production, we still have food loss, and the display on the front of the refrigerator doesn't work properly. There is a counter that tells you when to replace the filter. It is supposed to count down the months from 6 to 0 months to alert you when to change the filter. It has never worked, it's still on six months.

I called LG to let them know the problems we were experiencing again and they denied having any responsibility to fix the problem. I had been told when the new unit arrived that it would be under a new manufacturre warranty for 1 year. After speaking with several customer service reps, I finally got back to the supervisor office and they agreed to come out but I would have to pay the labor. Again, I insisted the refrigerator was under the original warranty and after many phone calls, I was able to get them to agree to come out at no charge.

They sent Class Appliance out and they replaced 3 circuit boards, which I'm told is all of them. I still have food loss and the ice production continues to be poor. The counter on the front panel still does not work. When I called them to report this again, they agreed as usual and after speaking with a supervisor to send Class Appilances back out. The same tech came out and checked the temperature; he told me there was nothing to fix and this was the way this product performs.

After hearing that I called LG and reported the tech's decision. I spoke with an Executive supervisor, Stan. He assured me that he would stay on my case an get it resolved and he would call me back by Monday. It was Friday afternoon when we talked. I did not receive a call from him until Wednesday during work hours so he left a message that the tech from Class could not find anything broken and therefore nothing more would be done. I then received a call from Class Appliances they would be sending another Tech out on Friday. After not getting a confirmation call Thursday as to what time they were coming, I called them Friday morning. I was told by the Service Supervisor that LG had decided no service call would be covered or needed. There was no phone call from LG or Class to tell me that.

I then called LG and spoke to the rudest supervisor that I have ever dealt with. I again requested a refund and was told this unit was not up for exchange or refund and the only thing they would do is send another Tech from LG. When he offered an appointment, it was during my work hours and they could not accommodate my day off next week. Therefore, I would have to call by the week in hopes of getting a Friday when I was off because they could only schedule 1 week out. This is unbelievable!

I have now called Home Depot which is where I purchased the 1st Unit. Their department Manager is supposed to contact me this week. I have decided that if Home Depot can not refund my money to purchase a new unit. I will call every news channel in my area to get some people on board to help stop this ridiculous consumer abuse. I have also emailed a class action attorney. This product is a piece of junk. LG has the worse customer service I have ever experienced, and I will not stop until this company has refunded my money. The consumers need to be protected from this type of problem and robbery.

Every time we called the service people within 2-3 months duration and every time they charge from us but after 2 months again same problem occurs.

And now also it is not working. I complain on 15-09-10, complain no. is C1091428732. As every time they assure complain is attain within 24 hour but nobody comes, all the time we have to re-complain around 3-4 times. My problem is how many times should we going on complaining and what type of LG service they are giving? This the last complain I am giving, if it is not attended to our satisfaction then I would be complaining to the consumer forum against LG.

I purchased a three-door LG refrigerator on May 1, 2007 for $2,300.00. On August 22, 2010, I went into the refrigerator for coffee creamer and found the interior of the fridge to be extremely hot. All the contents were ruined: the butter, cheese and the light fixture was melted. I contacted LG and I was asked several questions. I was told that they would take care of the problem. They sent a repairman to my house and after looking at the refrigerator, he stated that it could not be fixed because the damage was too severe. He called LG, reported this to their technical people and he was informed that they knew this refrigerator had an issue with a relay switch malfunctioning. And he told the repairman to order the parts which he did but when he came back, the parts did not fit. LG finally deemed the refrigerator unrepairable.

On September 13, 2010, Heather from LG called me and offered me $1300.00 for this refrigerator and I informed her that this would not be acceptable. I told her that they knew this was a problem and should have done a recall on the refrigerator and fixed the problem before it got to this point. Had they done that, this refrigerator should have lasted me another 20-25 years. The parts they could have replaced on a recall had a switch in it that would shut the refrigerator off if it reached a certain temperature and the bulbs were reduced from 60-watt bulb to a 40-watt bulb. LG is totally negligent and should be accountable for this negligence before anyone else has to go through this experience. Not only are they even offering me not enough to come close to replacing the refrigerator but I also lost about $300 to $400 worth of food that was destroyed by this incident. I have filed claims with the Better Business Bureau, Attorney General’s Office and my State Congressman.

I have an LG Refrigerator Model LFX25960SW purchased in October 2006 from Best Buy. I purchased an extended warranty-- good thing. In November, the shelf cracked. Best Buy came out, and sent a new shelf. A few months later, the bottom drawers cracked, again they sent new drawers. The light stayed on overnight and melted the casing. They came and installed a new light. The front panel lights were flashing, I read the directions and unplugged the fridge. When I did, the ground plug melted and blew the socket. There's a new crack in the interior.

Best Buy has sent a fix for each problem. Being without a fridge and taking off work for repair, are not the complaint. Constant repair is unreasonable. Is there any help for consumers? My warranty is up next year.

We purchased an LG model lfd22860 French door refrigerator in Nov. 2007. I smelled a bad smell in the fridge and saw that the light would not go out. I called customer service and LG said they would cover the repair. They would order the part and have a service company install the new light kit. We had to wait for an installation time and date. The repair man came in and looked in the fridge and said, "They sent the wrong kit.” So, out the door he went. Now it's Monday and they are going to have to re-order the correct kit. I purchased appliances from this company through the Home Depot, my refrigerator in January of 2009 which had a 1 year warranty and my microwave in November of 2009 which is still under warranty. I was having problems with the ice maker on my refrigerator malfunctioning while it was still under warranty. LG sent someone out to the house to "repair" it. The repair lasted just long enough for the warranty to expire. Now I have a 1 and a half year old $1800 refrigerator with an ice maker that doesn't work and they refuse to help me. My microwave recently stopped working and I scheduled a service appointment. The technician showed up at my house today, completely unprepared and unqualified.

He tore my microwave apart and then proceeded to yank on every part he could get his pliers on trying to bend it into working. He ended up causing more damage to the unit and then did not have the know-how to put it back together. Now I have a less than 1 year old microwave in pieces on my counter and they say they'll be back again in a week to try again. I have tried again and again to get someone in customer service to help me but they just keep passing me off to the next person and when I ask for a manager, they tell me they are all busy but they'll have one call me. Surprise surprise, no one calls. I know they are just trying to stall until my warranty runs out or hoping they can put me through enough grief that I will just give up. Short of hiring an attorney which would cost more than the appliances, I'm not sure what to do next.

We purchased the LG 25 cu ft French Door refrigerator, Model #LFC25760SB in March of 2007. In September of 2010, opened the refrigerator door and the inside lights had not shut off. Yes the doors were shut and the bulbs were stock from the factory when purchased. The bulbs were so hot that they melted the casing for the Digital Sensor Control and caused the unit to "melt" away from the screws used to attached the control to the inside walls and drop down to the shelf rack. There was a burning smell which led me to find that the light bulb sockets had also burnt to a brown crispy appearance. The unit was obviously too hot to touch.

We even pushed the door light control buttons to shut off the lights so we could unscrew them but the lights would not shut off. I was finally able to unplug the digital control sensor wires to get the bulbs removed. Of course, warranty was expired. I called LG with no concern on their part since it had expired. I looked up the digital control sensor part number and it is no longer available. The part cannot be replaced. I was also concerned that the lights would not turn off even when manually pushing the off switch, normally activated by closing the doors. I have read other customer complaints with the same issue. Lots of run around with LG with no concern to issue a recall or notice of issues.

My 2 yr old ($1600) LG refrigerator quit running. I had a technician from Best Buy (where I bought it from) come out to fix it and he told me that I needed a new computer board, and that LG only builds these boards to last a couple of years. It cost cost me $401.65 for the replacement plus the cost of the food I had to throw out. This is really ripping off consumers. Of course the warranty is no good, so should I be prepared to have to replace this part every couple of years? What a scam! This company gets money out of you one way or the other. I will never buy another LG again.

We had bought an LG French door refrigerator with bottom freezer model # LFC23760SB on 9/2/09. On 8/15/10, we noticed that the freezer was no longer cold and neither was the refrigerator. We had bought the refrigerator at Best Buy and got the 3 year warranty, so we called them to have it fixed. They said okay. 2 days later, we had a technician out to fix it. He could not fix it. He said that there was a clogged suction line and that he would have to have someone else come and get the clog out.

After waiting and calling the repair people for 3 days, we called Best Buy back and started to complain to them about how long this was taking to get repaired. So, Best Buy put in paperwork to LG to have the refrigerator replaced, since we have been without a refrigerator for 6 days. We got a call from Best Buy/ Geek Squad saying that they couldn’t replace our refrigerator since it is less than a year, that there is still a manufacturer’s warranty on the refrigerator. So, we contacted LG to have them replace the refrigerator, but they had to send a technician out to see if he could fix the problem. This technician said that there is damage to the suction line. He gave us a paper to fax in with the receipt so we could get our refrigerator replaced. We faxed in the paperwork 10 days ago.

We keep calling, trying to find out when our refrigerator is getting replaced. We get the royal runaround about how the system has not generated the paperwork yet. We have been told several times that we would get an email and a phone call with the confirmation number, so we can get a replacement from Best Buy. Their customer service is lacking. And from what I am reading, their appliances are not very reliable either.

After my third call to the same country and hearing, "If you don't have a receipt, we cannot fix the problem. Company policy". The serial number tells when it was manufactured but they didn't care. The place I bought it from is out of business, so there was no way I could get a copy. If they were still in business, I would have gone there for the warranty work.

We bought another crisper door and replaced it ourselves. The other crisper door has now broke off and the shelves are starting to crack. The dishwasher handle is doing the same thing. LG did nothing but cost us a lot of money and time with a faulty product and service. We were forced to purchase another refrigerator after waiting almost a month trying to work with LG.

LG has demonstrated it is not a reputable company, LG does not care about it customers concerns. LG tech support admitted the compressor was defective and recommended further replacements parts (total of 3 compressors, control board & relay), all of which did not work.

During almost a month of nightmare, we did not have a working refrigerator. LG support was no help to either myself, my wife, nor the technician servicing this appliance.

Furthermore, we hear of 3 other friends & associates, before, during and after our own issue with a bad compressor and non-working freezer had the exact same issue. One friend did get LG fridge fixed thru recall notice, another still did not have fridge fixed. Another just said forget it and bought a new but not LG fridge. We bought Samsung fridge and it is working great. I will never buy anything LG again. After all this was a necessary refrigerator, not some disposable electronics.

This has to do with our LG Refrigerator model LRFC22750TT freezer bottom. I heard a noise inside refrigerator. When I opened the door, I found the control panel suspended from top had fallen & heat was coming from it & the food inside the refrigerator getting warm. Lights had not gone off & the two bulbs had emitted so much heat they melted the plastic pieces holding up the panel. I burnt my fingers loosening the bulbs to stop the heat. We now need a flashlight to go into the refrigerator & the control panel continues to hang down. Luckily it still keeps foods cold & frozen. It's ridiculous to spend so much money on a top rated refrigerator & end up with a piece of junk.

I checked the internet and found many, many others had had this same experience with the LG 3-door. The fire department told me to unplug the unit and not use it. I paid $1,400 for this unit. I lost over $350.00 worth of groceries as I reported this problem one week ago and still have not had an adequate follow-up call or replacement sent in. I was told by the manager Mary that she was working on getting me a brand new unit, but as of today, one full week later, I have not had a concrete answer.

This one has been worked on several times and still won't work properly (runs constantly). We can't use the quick ice feature because the motor overheats and shuts down the fridge. We own LG front-loading washer/dryer, LG refrigerator, microwave, stovetop, and dishwasher. Each one of these appliances has been serviced or repaired. Thank God, I bought the expensive service agreement which has covered some of the expense.

However, the time it has taken to get them serviced is enormous. Then when repair technicians came, they didn't know how to handle LG and said that they have difficulty getting training or info from LG about repairing their products.

Everything is a battle. The moral of the story is do not purchase LG products. My stories of each appliance problem are long and arduous, so I'm not rambling on. I need to go spend time trying to find a replacement for my replacement knob for the stovetop (second time, same part). Wish me luck.

I've read some of the complaints and can't believe what I have in front of me. Two years ago I purchased an LG French Door Refrigerator LFX25960. I have the extended warranty. I will not purchase again after my experience and the others I've seen. In March of this year, the freezer stopped freezing. I had a service call and the whole control panel had to be replaced.

Then three months later we discovered our new two year old flooring was buckling in front of the refrigerator and we saw water damage downstairs, in our game room. We live on the water, so our main floor is actually the second floor. We had a service call and found that for months the fill tank to the water and ice maker failed and had been leaking. The service person from the Warranty Company stated and wrote the invoice up as factory defect. He said that he had seen this before with LG.

We called our Homeowner's Insurance and when the adjuster came out she stated that she has seen several claims just like ours. When I spoke to the flooring company to get a quote on replacing our floor, he stated that the same refrigerator did the same thing to his hard wood flooring. He said that he caught it sooner than we did and got so tired of dealing with LG that he did the repairs himself. I can't do that. We have a quote of $20K to repair our sub flooring and replace our floor. All our floors are the same and it is a great room, can't match the existing floor in color. Class action should be brought against LG, maybe then they might take care of their issues and maybe manufacture their products in the good old USA!

I purchased the LG French door bottom freezer in 2007. Within the first year, the deli bin and track were cracking and no longer sits straight. Recently, I also found small plastic chunks in the ice from the ice maker. Then this week, the whole control panel fell off the roof of the fridge and dangled by a wire. The plastic housing above it had started to melt and bubble. The light bulb sockets were burnt and the plastic shield around the panel melted. The metal plate above the bulbs was burning hot as if the lights had not been turned off for a long time.

The fridge was heating up and food was beginning to spoil. The butter had totally melted too. Because I was terrified of this being a possible fire hazard, I unplugged the fridge and am waiting servicing. Unbelievable, the fridge is only 3 years old. I had guests over in the midst of this finding and am very frustrated and embarrassed. I had thought LG was an excellent brand. Hmmm, now after researching I have different thoughts. Then the plastic wheels on one crisper drawers broke off. Those were replaced. The freezer froze up and parts had to be replaced by a technician.

The ice cube maker quit working. A technician had to replace the bar that moves with the amount of ice that is made and shuts off the machine when there is too much ice. The bar became buried by the ice instead of moving with the ice so the machine kept producing ice. We were told that our refrigerator would be replaced due to the problems until we called for another problem. The plastic door on the front of one of the crispers broke off.

It was unplugged for 4 hours and still did not work. The message did not change. Abdul promised to call to see if it worked and he did not. I called back to see what to do next and was told that it was our problem and that we should call a repair person since the one year warranty had expired. LG can check their records and find that we called many times during the first year as well as since that time.

How can I let everyone know how bad LG refrigerators are? The government energy dept. has already caught them falsifying information on energy consumption and they had to send a repairman to put in some sort of adjustment that supposedly would help the energy use. Who knows what effect that adjustment had on the refrigerator? We have no ice capability and have had only sporadic ice for the entire life of the refrigerator. The expense of the repair has been shifted to us even though the refrigerator has been faulty from the beginning and LG knows this because we have called in for help many times. It almost seemed normal that we would have to take the ice bin out of the door, clean all the parts of the unit, cut power and return power to get it going again. LG is a lousy company and no one should buy their products. Can I get my phone records and have all of our phone calls to them verified?

The door fell sideways, the edge struck my left eyebrow. The door then fell onto the floor where it made a big gouge. Lots of blood, lots of broken glass, lots of fluids pooling on the floor, oils, soya sauce, maple syrup, etc. What a mess! Could have done with a stitch, but the toddler was returning in a few hours and couldn't have her running around on broken glass, so opted to clean up, wrap the broken glass, etc. etc. I am very glad the door fell on Grandma and not on a grandchild. It would have crushed the toddler, broken an arm or leg of the four-year old.

The top door hinge failed; gradually with use it bent upwards and eventually the top pin on the door slipped out of the pin hole. When my son came home, he was able to bend the hinge up in order to put the empty door back in place, and with a hammer he bent the hinge back enough to hold the door in place; too easily bent. They've saved money on cheapo hinges and a child could have died!

After only 6 months, the freezer door is oxidized and changing color. I live with my mom, so I take care of it and the color was getting worse. So I called LG today and they told me it was the cleaning product I was using. Well, I responded that I only use one product and it was recommended by LG. Now, she changed her tone and just said she talked to her supervisor and they cannot help us.

I'm at a loss on what to do. They told me that there are no known defects in stainless steel. They won’t even send someone to inspect it to see what is wrong. If we only have it for 6 months and have an extended warranty, what should we do? I am so confused that they won’t help us. My mother and I did not cause this. I used their recommended product and its only 6 months old. Why won’t they help us? After, I spoke to three different customer service reps, I asked for the supervisor and they said she would have to call me. I asked for her name and they said, "Christine." I said, “Christine? Christine what?” and they said, “She'll call you.” So I see I won’t be getting anywhere with this.

We purchased several LG products when we purchased our home a few years ago. These products were supposedly "top of the line, absolutely the best choice.” Hah! Every single product has not performed as advertised, has had continual problems and LG has been a nightmare to deal with. Each time we have attempted to work with them on an issue, they give us information that has nothing to do with the issue we are experiencing. Even when we work with an authorized service rep they fight with the service rep telling them information that has nothing to do with the problem, deny their problems and send incorrect information and parts.

We have the same washer mildew stank that everyone has been listing. As recommended, we use only HE detergent and very little of it because of the low amount of water the machine uses. We never use softener in the washing machine and we rarely use bleach because the bleach dispenser has never worked and always spots our clothes. All of their suggestions (mind you suggestions, not solutions because they never have any) don't work. We can't get to the gaskets they say to clean and we aren't paying someone a hefty sum to do something that should be customer serviceable let alone not happen in the first place. And with a toddler in the house and a baby on the way, we certainly are not going to leave the door open unless LG wants a lawsuit on their hands.

The dryer—well, can't say I understand how it can be energy efficient when it takes 3 days to dry anything. I can't imagine how that saves energy. The fridge--oh, well that is the icing on the cake. Our experience with the fridge will ensure that we will never purchase another LG product and will certainly tell all of our friends, acquaintances and anyone we see shopping for appliances that LG products are the worst on the market. So our fridge experience. Well, the bottom tray that holds the glass shelf above the crisper drawers cracked. We went through an LG authorized service rep to order the new piece. It showed up and fit in the fridge and the glass shelf fit in it. Great. No, not great. When we went to put the slider rails on the new plastic, they did not fit. The shape of the plastic that the rails attached to had been changed. The rails would not fit; therefore, the drawers would not fit. We contacted LG and they said we had to have a service call for this simple installation. This is ridiculous in and of itself. This part was not complicated (like a motor or water line) and should easily be customer serviceable. Even the authorized rep said the same. But, after fighting with LG for weeks, we finally have the service rep come out.

The service rep confirmed that the rails would not fit, took a bunch of photos and contacted LG engineering. LG engineering said that we both were wrong and they fit. We asked if they tested this because the rails clearly do not. After weeks of fighting with LG, the authorized rep, who was wonderful to work with and very knowledgeable contacted us with complete embarrassment and said there was nothing else he could do. He said LG engineering will not listen to him and they refuse to agree that the rails will not fit. He said there was an additional part but it was not orderable by him or by us. Not this is interesting, if no one can order it, what is its purpose? I suppose this is the magic piece that makes the rails fit in the test lab but allowing the service reps or consumer to order it would mean that we would have a working fridge again. And why would LG want that?

In conclusion, LG has denied every issue we have ever brought to them, had customer service read from scripts that have nothing to do with the problems we call in about and after giving useless suggestions (again mind you, they never have a solutions because they never agree their is a problem) they give you their final recommendation: purchase a new product. This is the most infuriating conclusion to it all. Since when do you replace durable goods every two to three years? Durable goods should last at least 10 or more years. I also might note that our current LG authorized service rep is not renewing their contract. They said LG has been nothing but a nightmare to work with and it is impacting their customer goodwill and satisfaction. In January they will no longer sell LG products, service them or sell LG parts. Our financial impact: multiple unnecessary service calls that have never fixed any of the problems, having to live with broken appliances, and, the worst, affecting our ability to sell our home without replace all the LG appliances.

The first two months, I had to call a technician out to fix a frost problem in the freezer, which the repairman fixed with a bottle cap. In July, I was in California when I got a call from my daughter that the refrigerator was not cooling or freezing and I had to call the dealer who sold it to get a repairman to fix it from California. I lost everything in the freezer which was under $100 because I was away.

I don't know what he did, but it worked for two months or so when I had trouble again. So, I called the repair service on my own. A month later, I got the bill for repairs because I didn't go through the proper channels. So I had to pay myself for the service. Okay, things went along fine for a while when the freezing problem started again, this time I got authorized to get repair and he can out and said that LG had a recall on the control panel, and that as soon as they can out with it, he would install it. He did in about six weeks come back and replace the unit.

Last summer I had the freeze problem again, but this time, I unplugged the refrigerator for six hours and it worked fine until last February when I noticed the door seals were cracking. By the way these were also replaced at the same time the control unit was replaced. I called and was told by my Maytag Dependability Plus that the warranty doesn’t cover door seals (lie). Now, 6/25, I wore up to a smell in house of burning rubber smell when I open the door of the refrigerator.

There was no light, but a strong smoke smell inside it. At first, I thought maybe the light burned out, but when I reach to take the cover off, the control panel was so hot that I could not handle it. I have had it with LG Refrigerators. I would not recommend their product to anyone. Their service stinks. The only thing it is good for is to go the junk yard as scrap iron. I have two freezer drawers and the bottom drawer never closes right, never did, and they never fixed it. It freezes and when I get ice, the door stays open. I called the company since its been a year and a half but they won't even work on any of these problems because it's out of warranty even though some of the problems happened during the warranty period. They even told me that they had no claims or calls, complaints, etc. from me on my fridge. Are they for real?

I wish I had checked into these before I purchased one. I just went on the fact that I wanted the water dispenser on the door like my old fridge which is another complaint. The water is never cold and because it's on the door, all it does is dispense water but it doesn't cool it. Well, it doesn't work now either. When we first received it we noticed it was not cooling properly on the refrigerated side. We adjusted the temp. and waited 24 hours, the recommended time, and the temp. inside was still in the high 47-48 degrees. We kept doing this until we reached the maximum setting, which is 6 bars I believe. Still nothing! We also noticed that no air was flowing out of the vent when it was on.

After 3 weeks we called Best Buy and they were very understanding. They ordered a new one and picked up the old one free of charge. Well the second fridge "looked" good, no damages, no scratches, etc. My husband was checking it out and we were going to drain the first 2.5 gallons of water like the manual suggests to get rid of that plastic flavor. We noticed the floor underneath the fridge was all wet! We checked the water line on the exterior and it was fine. I opened the fridge part of the unit and my husband proceeded to keep draining the water and on the top right hand side right next to the filter inside, the water was gushing out wetting the entire interior of the unit. It was also dripping where you get water to drink.

We do not want to risk exchanging it for another so we are in the process of returning it. Sorry LG, but like they say not all that glitters is gold. LG makes products that appeal to you but in my experience they are just not made to last. It resulted to lost time, money, and food since it took about 3-4 days in between to get the new ones.

We purchased a Sear Kenmore refrigerator made by LG October 2006. It is model#79577572600 with the French doors and freezer on the bottom. It has been repaired 6 times and scheduled for a 7th time. The ice maker was replaced, the control board 3 times, the Deli drawer broke and last time all the sensors were replaced because the vegetable drawers were freezing everything. Now it is at 28 degrees again. I spoke to Sears repair and asked for Customer Service.

Customer Service informs me that they will not compensate us in any way because we did not purchase an extended warranty. (That is the one they try to sell you because you are buying an inferior product). She told me I could contact LG, but I was probably wasting my time. She gave me two phone numbers, neither of which were correct. There doesn't seem to be any numbers online so we are stuck. I can only assume they plan it that way. I want the refrigerator repaired properly for good or a replacement. My Frigidaire in the garage is still going strong after 15 years. The first repair was a new thermostat two weeks ago. The refrigerator cost almost $2500. The first time it took almost 6 weeks to get a control panel, not to mention how much produce I have had to discard.

The last time he walked in, he opened the door and said, “Yes, it’s cracked ice tray (plastic) and need new ice maker, over $300.00, you can order. That will be $54.50. I’ve seen a lot of them. They’re making them trays thicker now,” he said. We asked, “Can't you just replace the tray?” He said no. So is there a recall? We can't afford to fix this. My husband takes so much medicine. Now the ice maker really doesn't work and the Filtered Water doesn’t work and but it still keeps things frozen and cooled so far. I purchased an LG LSC27910SB side by side fridge just over a year ago, within a month I noticed the food in my freezer were not frozen solid and I had no ice, when I called the tech he simply told me to bump the temp up. I already had it on 3 and told him that was not acceptable and he needed to send out a repairman. The repairman shows up 2 weeks later and tells me there is a wire loose and my brand new fridge is just not defrosting, he then used a hair dryer to melt all the ice on the back panel.

It worked for 2 weeks and did the same thing again called LG again (this is twice that I lost freezer full of food) and he started asking me about time of purchase and if I had proof. I told him I could get proof (owned fridge for 2 months) he then hung up and I Assumed he would be sending someone and two weeks later nothing so I called back and he had noted on my account could not show proof grrrr. I cleared this up and a week later the same guy with his trusty hair dryer was back at my door. This time he said it was a mother board (or something) of course had to order the part and left to return 2 weeks later to fix this other part.

To date the ice on the back panel has never gone away, just over this weekend my freezer is not working again and of course it's out of warranty (I just loaded it with groceries). I guess I'll get out my trusty hair dryer and try to maintain it until I can afford to get it repaired. I do think LG should make all repairs irregardless of warranties if the problem is not isolated incident, and really work on their customer service. I will NEVER buy another LG product!

I purchased an LG S/S Refrigerator in October of 2005. I had it for 3 months and the panel that controls the water and ice maker went out. The service technician showed up and stated that he had to order the part. He did, which took a month and a day. When he showed up to replace the part, he stated the part he had was incorrect and would have to order another part. I came to find out that he needed to replace the freezer door. We waited for a new door and it never showed up.

I called customer service and a technician came back out. Now, they are giving me a new refrigerator. That's nice, I thought. But what is the deal with the part? The new refrigerator shows up and life is somewhat good. I plugged it in and 10 minutes after they leave, the freezer door is leaking from the control panel. The tube that puts water in the ice tray is slightly too long.

Who the heck has had that problem? Are these designed by idiots? I shut down the water line. The technician comes back and discovers the problem. Life is almost good again.

6 months later, I noticed that the refrigerator temperature decides to change on its own. If you have the "beep" function on, it will beep all night. Wonderful! I figured that was just some sort of a one-time problem. The problem goes away but 6 months later, it is acting up again. This time the temperature fluctuates and the water/ice function locks up.

I contact Customer Service at LG. Like most people have found out, you need to purchase an extended warranty for a $2,000 refrigerator because they know they suck. Well, when I spend that much I expect quality. Is that wrong? I contacted customer service again, telling them that I had 3-4 service issues with this thing. Like we all know now, they will just say, "There is nothing we can do. Your warranty is up."

Well, it is 2010 and my control panel has a life of its own. I need to keep it on water and pull ice from the bucket. Heck, I consider myself lucky Some folks cannot even use theirs. I will never ever buy LG again.

Dealing with LG has been a nightmare. I will never purchase another LG product as long as I live. Unfortunately, I currently own a refrigerator, dishwasher and washer and dryer. Each appliance has required repair. I am not one to purchase warranties as whatever occurs will undoubtedly happen once the warranty expires.

My reason for complaint now is to follow the others in expressing how outrageously pathetic LG's refrigerators are. We first purchased the LG French Door Model LFX25960 in August of 2006. Our first problem occurred on January 1, 2007 when I discovered the New Year's Day dinner had cooked itself in my refrigerator. Needless to say, that day's plans were ruined. The lights remained on and were actually burnt and could have burned down my house if we were not home. Since this refrigerator was less than 6 months old, LG replaced this refrigerator in January of 2007

Here we are three years later and I have had to replace the door gaskets, cracked plastic shelves, and finally, now the same thing has happened with the light bulbs remaining on and almost causing a fire. Dealing with customer service is an absolute nightmare. I have had their recommended service techs to my home for the past repairs and will never do so again. They permanently marred my wood floor despite warnings. They were rude and of no assistance. A personal repair person suggested the gaskets will require replacing every year because the design of these French doors leaves no room for adjustment.

Now I have to live with a dark refrigerator knowing that they recently replaced gaskets and that the plastic shelf support will break again. I have no intention of paying for another repair. I have spent so much money repairing and replacing parts on this refrigerator, dishwasher and washing machine and dryer that I actually feel violated. I will never sink another dime into their products. Buyer beware!

Then we turn it off to thaw it out and it still doesn't work. It has been repaired once already (after the warranty expired, of course). The latest incident was the light fixture melting because of the incorrect bulb size coming from the factory. This was a fire hazard and when I called it that, I had no trouble getting LG to pay for the repair and parts. They are clearly aware that they have a products liability problem with these units. I'm so fed up and frankly can't believe how matter of fact they are about a $2000 refrigerator that doesn't work properly. Basically, I get an, “Oh, well, you are no longer under warranty.” These units should have been recalled.

Currently broken again. $60 for service call on melted light fixture. LG paid for part and call to replace. I had to empty and unplug the unit at 2 am due to smell of plastic burning. I’m afraid of fire hazard. Several half days waiting for service, hours on the phone with all parties involved. No ice currently and several days with no refrigerator at all over the last week.

LG gave me 6 months extended warranty and they have sent several different repair services out, but nothing has been corrected. When I first bought the refrigerator, it was set in place. A few days later I wanted to pull it out and there was no way I could budge it. The walls had expanded! When I called LG they said that happens! What? Needless to say I was speechless - for a moment - they said they could not do anything unless I could prove I bought the unit.

I said I will e-mail an attachment to you, which I did, together with a copy of their extended warranty. One of their reps called me the next day to say she has received the attachments, but they could not accept the "bill of lading" showing the unit had been delivered, as they wanted the receipt. I am now going through my files to find the receipt. I told the service rep that I would never give out my credit card number to a rep and she should call Home Depot and request the info. She did, and called me back; saying I can only get the copy of the original receipt by going to Home Depot in person, which I will do as soon as they call me back. Contacted LG about our 4th repair on our 4-year old refrigerator. Talked to Stacy who informed us she was as high as we could go in the chain of command. No one is over her. Her decisions are final. Eight months or so ago we had to replace a motor because the freezer wouldn't defrost and finally quit. This time, the fridge about caught fire. Everything in the upper half of the fridge melted, even the plastic housing around the light bulbs. Yes, melted! Seems the fridge now needs a new control board, to the tune of $500, not to mention the $200 worth of food I'd just purchased.

We don't want this refrigerator repaired or even in our house any longer... too afraid of fire now. So, we spent another $2000 on a new (GE) refrigerator. Miss high-and-mighty Stacy refuses to talk to a superior (oh, that's right, she's the only decision maker) to see if there's anything they can do besides pay for the control board. Also, since we contacted Best Buy (where we purchased the refrigerator) for service and not LG, she wasn't willing to do much. OK, I'm about to vent. In Feb. of '09, we purchased a new French door style, bottom freezer LG refrigerator from our local Home Depot. We thought we were doing a good thing, replacing our 35-year old Kenmore (which still worked) with a new energy efficient good-looking stainless steel model. I should state that we saw absolutely no energy savings with it, but it did look nice.

A couple of days ago, the whole refrigerator dropped dead, no lights, nothing. After checking that a circuit breaker hadn't blown, we looked at the manual, to no avail. I then called the LG customer service number, and after a considerable wait, spoke to one of the rudest service reps I have ever talked to, receiving no help except that I should call a repairman. The next day I called again and this time talked with a very nice lady who talked me through a couple of "coding" attempts to see if we could get the refrigerator to restart. This didn't work, but at least she was pleasant and tried.

Today, we had a very competent repairman out who diagnosed the problem as a blown fuse in the refrigerator. Unfortunately, this fuse was stupidly made an integral part of the control board by LG, meaning you can't just plug in a new fuse, but have to replace the whole circuit board, which will cost about $400 with labor. To make matters worse, these circuit boards aren't even stocked anywhere in our area, not even in Portland or Seattle.

Apparently, we were lucky that there was one somewhere in the US they can get because sometimes one has to be ordered from Korea or China or wherever they are made. Still, it will be 4-5 days before they can get one in and repair our fridge, whereas with the mainline domestic models, there are parts readily available locally. Anyway, we are really bummed, both because of the shoddy design of the unit, and because nobody advised us of the difficulty of obtaining parts to quickly repair it.

We purchased what we were told was an energy efficient LG refrigerator. I have always had a small refrigerator so when we moved, we decided to buy a larger one - the kind I have always wanted. It has bottom freezer, french doors with ice and water dispenser in the door. We started having problems with it within the first 6 months. The ice dispenser did not work, the water dispenser tube leaked. We then found out it is not energy efficient. We had to have the insides of one whole door replaced.

Now the door that open and closes to dispense ice is loose and I have cold air gushing out all day long. I finally found a bottle that I could wedge in there to hole it shut until the repair guy can come out, 4 days from now. Each time the warranty runs out, we have been smart to buy the extended warranty. But after spending $1500 on a new appliance, we should not have to keep spending extreme amounts of money purchasing extended warranties. We are trying to file a "lemon" law against LG, but realistically knowing that probably won't happen. But to anyone who is thinking about buying anything made by LG, think again!

We bought an LG Model LFX25960ST Bottom Freezer Refrigerator on 7-27-06. We paid for delivery and a five-year extended warranty. The unit was installed in October 2006. The purchase price was $2099 (not including delivery, taxes, and the extended warranty). Within the first year, the refrigerator started freezing all liquids even though the thermostat was set well below 32 degrees. LG sent out a service man who replaced the thermostat. The unit performed okay. Within a year after that, the unit stopped cooling. Under the extended warranty, a service man came out and made a repair. The unit performed okay.

Six months later, we awoke to an odd smell in our kitchen. Opening the refrigerator door, we encountered smoke coming from the light fixture and that the plastic housing was melting. We called LG and a repair man came out and replaced the light fixture. He assured us that the new fixture had a new switch system and an additional safety feature to prevent such overheating and fire hazard. When I commented to the service man that the ice maker seemed to take a very long time to make ice, he called his office. They authorized him to install a new ice maker which he happened to have on the truck. The unit worked okay.

Six months later, the unit started making a loud, grating sound. LG sent out a service man. He found a 1/2" to 1" coating of ice had formed on the back inside wall of the freezer compartment which was blocking the fan. With the unit unplugged, that ice melted enough that he could peel off the ice. The fan then ran as normal. However, the service man expressed surprise that so much moisture had accumulated to freeze over the entire back wall. But he could find no cause. He suggested that it might be smart to replace that fan since it probably had run almost continuously due to the ice problem and thereby incurred unusual hours and wear and tear in the days preceding his visit. He stated that it would take approx 10 days to 2 weeks for delivery of the fan and that someone from his company would come back out to install the fan.

A few days later, we awoke to find a large puddle of water on the hardwood floor underneath the refrigerator. After being bounced back and forth between the HH Gregg, LG, and the independent service company for two hours. The service company agreed to send a man out the same afternoon. He arrived as promised and informed me that I might owe money for the previous visit, the current visit, the fan and the next visit to install the fan. He diagnosed that the water was coming from the ice maker which was not receiving cold air. This was causing the ice to melt. That water was running out on our floor. And, when the ice maker called for more water, it was also running out onto the floor. So he turned off the ice maker and left.

I am waiting today for a service visit from another LG/GE/Assurant service contractor in our area. He is to provide service on the water/ice-maker problem. After four failures and outages in three and a half years of use, we have requested a new unit from LG and HH Gregg. HH Gregg told us that their obligation is that they will accept a return within 14 days of purchase. And they said that under our extended warranty plan that they sold to us, we can continue to get the unit repaired until the warranty expires which will be in approx 14 months. HH Gregg does not provide the warranty even though they sell it. The actual warranty was issued by GE which has in turn sold the appliance warranty business to another company called Assurant. HH Gregg said it is up to Assurant to decide whether to continue to repair the current unit or to replace it. LG told me their warranty is for only one year and that our case is up to the warranty company.

I have explained to all parties that with four failures in three and a half years, this unit is a lemon or was less than first quality from day one. We want it replaced. Everyone in customer service at HH Gregg and LG provides scripted niceties but run away from accepting responsibility. HH Gregg told me that the warranty/insurance company has a "lemon" policy that says a unit "may" be considered a lemon if the same part fails and has to be replaced three times. We are on the second and possibly, after today, our third ice maker. The other three outages were due to other parts and problems failing. In 14 months, we will be out of our extended warranty. If the track record of failures continues, we will be sold with a $2100 refrigerator that has never worked properly for more than 12 continuous months at a time.

But I can tell you this, never again for anything and if they get cute and change their name, will I buy anything from them LG. They can change CEO, everything but never again. I bought four stainless steel LG appliances under 2 years ago. I had to replace the refrigerator within a few months, because the computer board burnt out. LG did replace the fridge but with a lot of hassle. And, upon delivery, they broke part of my step and have not returned my calls to pay for damage. The gas range is poor quality (What I thought were stainless steel knobs were really some kind of foil over plastic and foil is coming off.), and the knobs turn so easily that I frequently smell gas in the house and realize a knob was turned a tiny bit.

It's very dangerous! All of the appliances are extremely difficult to clean and dent so easily. I will never buy another LG product. Customer service is also a nightmare to deal with.

The others cost $320 each. The 1-800 customer service number is useless. The operators barely speak English and don't know anything about ice makers. They just try to make you feel better by apologizing a lot, and ask you to perform silly tasks that you know won't work, and then say you should call back in 24 hours. This ice maker should be redesigned, since it is obviously defective. There are numerous consumer complaints online about this ice maker.

None of which LG would reimburse. Therefore, I will never buy another LG appliance and will advise others not to buy a LG appliance. I would like to know if the Unified Commercial Code (UCC) warranty applies. Usually it's in effect for four years in most states. Would this apply to LG appliances? I agree with Pat of Emeryville, CA. It is time for a class action suit (after the hundreds of complaints), since LG will not stand behind their products. We purchased LG refrigerator model #LFX25960SB 6/25/06 ($2,287) from Home Depot. We were disappointed from the start with the ice maker's capacity and how long it took to make ice but all else was fine. Then we had the first ice maker replaced 4/9/07. We had the second ice maker replaced 5/17/07. We replaced the ice maker for the third time 7/13/07. It is obvious that they should be recalled. We have also replaced the deli drawer and rails due to cracked plastic parts on 8/9/07. Then in July of 09 , the ice maker was only making 1/2 sized ice cubes and we couldn't figure out why.

Well, after several months and a few wet spots on the floor, we pulled the fridge out to discover a crack in the hose that supplies water to the I M. The water had been leaking so long that it damaged the drywall, baseboards, and the cabinets. I have called LG to get replacement parts and none of the parts sent are correct. We no longer have a warranty and could easily fix the problem with a repair kit from Home Depot for about $10. However, the plastic tubing on an LG is not a standard size. Thankfully, I have not had any of the melting or light fixture damage, yet! I empathize with all who have LG products. We will never purchase one again! We will also support anyone who wants to file a class action lawsuit! To all consumers, don't buy LG!

(LFC23760ST, 904MRKU11677). We have had LG authorized representative for Central MA come to our house a total of 4 times so far and still this is not working. It was decided that the refrigerator would be replaced on 3-12-2010. Service call initiated on 2-13-2010. The first time that they came was to evaluate (2-17-2010). It was decided that the compressor would need to be replaced. A compressor was ordered from LG. Next visit was on 2-26-2010 and the compressor was replaced. We were told that we should have a cold refrigerator by the following day. The refrigerator was still not cool after a couple of days. After a few attempts at calling LG service representative, we finally got them to come back in on 3-4-2010. On 3-4-2010, it was decided that the replacement compressor was seized and would need replacing and one was ordered from LG. Why the compressor seized was not explained. On 3-12-2010, it was decided that there was more wrong than just the compressor and the refrigerator was unfixable and would need to be replaced. All required information was faxed into LG on 3-12-2010 and we were told it would be 3-5 days before we heard anything.

Here it is 3-25-2010 and I called LG and spoke to several people. One gentleman was very kind and informed me that he was definitely not the correct person and transferred me to someone else. After the initial script reading, I asked what went wrong and why I had not gotten a returned phone call; the person replied that there was nothing she could do and that speaking to a supervisor would not help matters. I spoke to this supervisor and she was not pleasant at all and informed me that they had just received the claim minutes before my call (keep in mind 13 days have passed since faxing it all in). She told me she will call me on 3-29-2010 to let me know when a replacement would be sent and I asked for a "ball-park" figure about when I will receive the replacement to which she replied that she has no authority to answer that until she reviews my case. At this point I was very angry and tried my luck with their Internet Relay Chat, but again getting nowhere.

This whole experience has disappointed my wife and I because our home is full of LG appliances, which worry us for the future. Knowing what the service has been like for the refrigerator, we are worried about service on our other appliances (range, dishwasher, clothes washer and clothes dryer). Altogether, we have spent in the area of $6000 with LG and would expect better service than we have gotten. I hope that they can reassure our confidence in their company and their products, but I doubt it very much. Six weeks without a fridge is a very long time and a lot of ice cubes for our coolers.

I purchased a new three door LG refrigerator in 2006. Since then, I have replaced the ice maker and the fan motor. The ice maker still doesn't work and the plastic interior is broken in many places.

The only thing that is worse than this refrigerator is the customer service. I have been told again and again just to get a repairman out to fix it, which I did. I ended up spending hundreds and hundreds of dollars to repair a non-fixable situation.

I wrote to LG and asked if they would buy this product back or at a minimum, give me some sort of credit on a new one. I never received a reply. So I called again and was told I would need to get a repairman out to make sure it was not fixable. I called the number they gave me, and the repairman said it would be over $400 to get a part to make sure it was really not fixable.

At this point, since I had replaced almost everything that you could replace, I decided against this step (and I am grateful after reading your other complaints where they were still denied after this step) and I bought a wonderful Samsung three door. What a difference... no problems, everything is sturdy and was made well.

I would suggest that no one buys an LG ever, ever again. When I went into to buy the new refrigerator, even the sales person said she would have told me not to buy an LG. It has cost me thousands and thousands of dollars that as a 66 year old woman, I do not have.

The service call diagnosed complete board failure in the fridge.

After several phone calls, on day 10 without the fridge, LG puts in order for replacement. It's day #18 and I'm still waiting and LG is stating that it will still take another 7-10 days for the fridge to be delivered. This is totally unacceptable. No one offered to replace the $300-400 food loss expense, eating out 2-3X's daily, not able to keep cool drinks in home even using ice cooler.

We lost about $100 the first occurrence, then $300-400 this occurrence because everything was destroyed. There were no offers at all to replace. I'm a very unsatisfied customer. And, to top things off, I had a 6 week infant in the home. I think this should have been handled more expeditiously and with some offering of temporary replacement until the permanent replacement was delivered. I will never ever purchase anything LG again! I gave up calling the repairman out to my home twice within 1 year about the ice build up in the bottom of the freezer. He claimed it was because I have pets (?), but within 2 weeks, I could hardly get the freezer door open or closed due to the thick layer of ice in the bottom of the freezer. With the current one, I've lost everything in my refrigerator compartment, because it quit cooling completely and the water pooling around the front of the refrigerator is as bad as ever.

I purchased LG french door fridge model #LFX25971SW/1, serial #8055KRSB00318 in November online through a licensed LG dealer. We installed it ourselves, plugged it in. The next day, there was one load of ice in the ice maker, that was it. I called LG, they said to adjust temp in the fridge and freezer. No difference. They said to call Seward Appliance Repair 402-643-3344 and have them out to look at it and repair it. Long story short, Dan from Seward Appliance Repair has been in my home enough times to be on a first name basis with myself, husband, kids and pets! They have documentation of everything they have tried, at least 3 new ice makers, new water valve, sensor, the list goes on and on. Every time, it makes one load of ice and stops.

In addition, the fridge is way too cold. Anything sensitive, lettuce, green onions, cilantro, parsley is frozen in the drawers they are supposed to go in and the fridge, freezer and drawers are set as warm as they can be set. Also, door opening on the right hand side results in a terrible creak noise every single time. The repairman has been out here no less than 6 times with the same results, nothing. First, let me say I bought the fridge in November since my old ice maker was not working (15 years old) so we could have ice in our home for holiday parties. All I have done is purchase ice the entire 4 months I have owned the "new" fridge, that and replace frozen produce. Talk about embarrassment to have company in your home for the holidays when the ice maker doesn't work and the door makes a loud noise when opened.

Ya, I am real proud of that new LG fridge and let me tell you, I make sure everyone knows how pleased we are with our "new" LG fridge. I wish I had never purchased an LG fridge in the first place. This was our first ever LG appliance and it will be our last. Next time, I will stick with a Maytag, GE, Whirlpool etc. I really wish I had. I will also make sure anyone who I know is purchasing new appliances knows the problems we have had. Every time the repairman has talked to them, they always say "Well, I don't understand why it isn't working, try this". After realizing all our problems with this fridge, I got online and found all the problems and complaints with this LG model fridge and know why they have discontinued it for a different model. I would seriously like my money back and have them come get this piece of junk out of my kitchen.

We purchased an LG refrigerator in August of 2008 and it stopped working February 16, 2010. Period. Stopped working. Our repairman says it's just a fuse, but LG has created a control board that has the fuse permanently mounted in it. We can't just change the fuse for $5.00. We have to change the entire control board for $400. So I called LG customer service and talked to several different people. The first thing they ask is, "Did you purchase the extended warranty?” No, we didn't. We firmly believe that manufacturers should be able to produce a product that lasts more than a year and a half instead of expecting the consumer to shell out more money for an extended warranty!

I asked if the company would stand behind it, since it's only been out of warranty for six months. I was told to fax the receipt to the company. Of course, they gave me the wrong fax number. It didn't go thru and I got a kickback message from the fax machine. So I called again and got another employee who gave me the same (incorrect) fax number. Then he corrected it. I started getting the idea I was getting a run-around. So I faxed again, believing that my request would be reviewed and I would be notified in 24-48 hours (according to the customer service rep). No call. So I called again and was told my info hadn't been entered into the system (corporate-speak for "we don't want to bother with you, go away"). I asked if my info had been received and didn't get a straight answer.

So I talked to a "supervisor.” She wanted me to fax the info again! This was Friday afternoon and I didn't have the receipt at work with me anymore. I couldn't fool around anymore without getting my repairman going on actually making the repair. I am truly disgusted with this company and their "customer service" department. Their website goes on about their "code of ethics" and "management by principle," but they have taken planned obsolescence to new levels and are ripping off the consumer. I have made 10-15 calls to LG trying to get a resolution. None of the departments can communicate or work with each other. I phoned the company on January 29th and was told my case had been rejected.

I pushed the matter up the chain - only with threats of filing a complaint with Consumer Affairs and with the DA's Office if I didn't get resolution that day. Only then was I allowed to speak with someone who could resolve the case. She said I would receive a phone call within 7-10 days from a local freight company with the day I could expect the refrigerator to be delivered. That was January 29, 2010 and I still have not received a phone call. This model has a history of the lights and housing catching on fire. There are vlogs, by the dozens, about individuals who were lucky enough to have had someone at home when this fire occurred. LG should have a recall on this refrigerator model before someone loses their life or a house burns down. I called many times and was told to reboot again and again. Finally, I was referred to an appliance company that repairs LG refrigerators. As it turns out, LG has never given training to these technicians regarding repairs to their refrigerators. We have since had the company out 3-4 times to fix what LG says is the problem.

On 1/27/10, we noticed that the food on the top shelf was extremely warm and in looking, discovered that the light bulbs continue to stay on when the doors are closed. There are 2, 60 watt bulbs.

The bulbs got overheated and melted the plastic housing all around them. Thank god we were home and it didn't start a fire. I called LG and their response was as always, "Sorry it's no longer under warranty". I went on the internet, and found hundreds of posts of the same problems with LG refrigerators. This is a fire and a safety issue! I can't believe these things have not been recalled. If you pull it up online, you will see its many different model numbers. The physical damage was just to the bulbs, the housing around the bulbs and the top of fridge where they connect. The economic damage is of course the fridge itself, and quite a bit of food. I had an LG Dishwasher (actually 2, as they had to replace that one under warranty too). The 2nd one leaked under the floor and ruined my wood floors in the kitchen & dining. I got the same response, "not under warranty".

I purchased a French door refrigerator/freezer in October 2008. One year and 3 months later, the freezer completely quit. The first rep at LG said, “I will call you back with service tech info - no charge.” I never heard back. I called again. A different rep said, “Too bad, out of warranty.” The rep gave me a phone number for the service company. I was told to "pay it yourself". I can't get the service company to call back. I basically wasted $1300.00. Refrigerators should last more than one year. There is no such thing as customer service and I’m still without refrigerator - going on 1 month! Don't buy from LG if you want quality and longevity.

Our LG refrigerator of 2 years has died. It is not fixable. We were told that LG's policy is that if something is not fixable, it is replaced. We have been told several times that it would be replaced, only to later be told that it would not be replaced because we do not have an extended warranty. If a part could fix our refrigerator, this would be a non-issue. Without me having an extended warranty, I of course would buy a part that would repair my refrigerator. However, no part exists! and we were told by our tech that it is a fire hazard to use our refrigerator in its current condition.

Our tech and LG's tech have agreed that the refrigerator is not fixable. After two months of going back and forth with poor customer service, we have been told that LG would buy back our refrigerator at a discounted rate instead of replacing it. This is very insulting and does not show any corporate integrity. It has taken a financial toll on my family. In reading about the company's code of ethics (listed below), I find it is not in line with my experience. The biggest area of discrepancy is number three: "Providing Value". We were told that we would receive a new refrigerator, and then were told we would not. We were told of LG's policy of product replacement (stated above), but that policy and promise have not been fulfilled.

Our requests have not in any way been met in a manner of speed and accuracy. Our experience has been the exact opposite. Value number three talks about offering "top quality products and services to our customers". I am wondering if an irreparable 2-year-old refrigerator meets the standard of "top quality products". I also wonder if 2 months of going back and forth without reasonable results meets the standard for "speed and accuracy". Let me outline a chronology of what I (and my family) have experienced. I think you will be in agreement that the company has not been true to its values.

In the beginning of December 2009, our refrigerator stopped cooling. This was our first refrigerator for our first home, and we purchased it two years ago. A tech came out and ordered a part from LG to repair the refrigerator. (Note: even though we did not have an extended warranty, LG did not charge for the part). When the part came, the tech said when he went to put the part in, he found out that it was not the right size, and also, he discovered that the back of the refrigerator was all cracked. He stated that he had not seen anything like it. He said he could put his hand through one crack in particular, as it was that large.

The tech said he could not fix this refrigerator. He said that he would call LG to see about replacing the refrigerator. He said that if he put the part in for now, it would be a fire hazard, so we turned off the refrigerator altogether. Our tech called and discussed the situation with an LG tech. When the model number was given, he said the reaction of the LG person upon hearing the number made him wonder if others have had problems as well with this particular model. It was initially reviewed and we were told that it would not be replaced because we did not have an extended warranty. I understand that since we did not buy an extended warranty, that if a part is needed, that we would pay for that.

I would be more than happy to pay for a part that would fix my refrigerator. However, no part exists. Our refrigerator is not fixable. It is a thousand dollar lemon. So LG said they would have to have our tech call LG's tech again. We asked the tech to call LG again. He did not understand why this was necessary as he had already explained the severity of the product failure to the tech. However he agreed to call again, and he repeated the same information to the tech as he had the first time. The case was reviewed again. Then we were told that it would be replaced and that previously LG did not understand the severity of the damage to the refrigerator.

At this point, calls have been going back and forth for a couple of weeks. Then we were told that although the refrigerator would be replaced, it would not be until after the New Year because of a new computer system being installed. We were also told that it could be 4-6 weeks after the New Year before we had a new refrigerator. We called after New Year's to follow up but we were not able to be helped because of problems with the new computer system, so we were told we would have to call back. We then called back, and we were asked to send in our receipt.

We sent in the receipt. We called back. Now we were told that the case had to be reviewed by a supervisor. We were given the impression that in fact, it had not been approved to be replaced, although this was inconsistent with what was presented to us prior to the New Year. We were told that it would take 3-5 days for the supervisor to review the case. I called back in 7 days and the person answering the phone checked the computer system and said that the supervisor had not reviewed it. She said that she would submit it to yet a different supervisor who would be certain to review it in 3-5 days.

I did not hear anything in over a week and a half, and my husband called and found out that the supervisor had denied us a new refrigerator. (Note: I am uncertain why LG cannot call me to tell me the outcome of reviews. Myself or my husband has initiated every contact with LG in this process). My husband was told that this was because we did not have an extended warranty. My husband talked to a different supervisor named Valerie who stated that it should have been approved, so it would be sent to another supervisor for a second review. But of course, it would take another 3-5 business days. This last conversation happened on 1/22/2010.

At this point, I am extremely angry. I called on 1/22/2010 and talked to Jewell who is a supervisor. After two months of remaining calm, I am now very angry, and I explained the whole situation to her. I told her that if there was a part that would fix our refrigerator, that we would pay for that because we did not have the extended warranty. However, she stated "this is not an extended warranty issue" She stated that LG's policy is to replace unfixable refrigerators. She said that our tech and LG's tech were in agreement that it was not fixable, so she is uncertain why the replacement was denied. So she said she would send it to another supervisor for review, as it should not have been denied per LG's policy, and again, it would be 3-5 days.

When I explained how frustrated I was to hear it would be another 3-5 days, she said that she would ask for the process to be expedited. Today, I called to follow up and I was transferred to the department that handles replacements. I cannot recall the name of the person I spoke with. She reviewed the file and said that it was denied to be replaced because we did not have an extended warranty but LG would buy back our refrigerator at a discounted cost. Again, I went through the whole chronology of events and frustrations to this individual. I asked who I need to talk with and she said that Becky is my case agent. I asked for the name and number for Becky's supervisor and this employee told me that she is not allowed to give out that number.

I am astounded that I am not able to have a phone number for a supervisor who oversees my case. I told this employee what Jewell had previously stated to me about LG's policy, and this woman told me that Jewell is not authorized to speak to whether or not an item will be replaced. This employee was not very compassionate or understanding. She is the most frustrating and least helpful person I have spoken with to date. You can check your own records for her name in order to follow up. This has been an awful process. I have shared this experience with many people and they are astounded that we have remained calm up until this point.

Let me explain the toll this has taken on us. We have been without a refrigerator for now 2 months. My family consists of myself, my husband, and our now 13-month-old daughter. We have been living out of coolers. For two months! My daughter had her one year birthday party at our house, and we did not have a refrigerator. Christmas has come and gone, and we did not have a refrigerator. Same with New Year's. Can you imagine not having a refrigerator when your one year old begins eating table food? Anything she does not finish, we often have to throw away. We are unable to feed her any fresh foods. And we hope that her milk has been kept cool enough.

Luckily she has not become sick. If she had, this discussion would be happening in a court room. Here are the costs of this experience for us so far, in addition to the refrigerator: We have been spending 20 dollars a week for ice for the two coolers. To date: $160. Cost of eating out. We each have had to eat out often a couple of times a day. Wasted work time calling company. Each call often took 20-30 minutes. My husband does not have an office-based job, and has had to pay for going over cell phone minutes in trying to resolve this issue.

We have used more gas going back and forth to the grocery store nearly every day to buy a couple of items just for that day. We have been unable to have people over at our house. We have been unable to cook food in our home for two months! We often have to throw out food that has not kept in the cooler. Eating out often, and all the other items stated above, have been extremely expensive for my family. Many people would ask for compensation for all of the above issues. We are looking at a case, where it was decided in early December that the refrigerator should be replaced, and here we are nearly two months later, without a new refrigerator.

We have been incurring all of these extra costs, during a time when the economy is poor. At this time, I am not asking for compensation for any of the above items. I am just asking for a new refrigerator as soon as possible. However, my patience is wearing thin. I would assume your company would stand by its product (and its policy) and replace a poor product. Truly, I just want a refrigerator. I have never experienced anything like this. I feel that LG still has a chance to redeem themselves in my eyes.

Here are my concerns broken down: Although the folks answering the phones initially are very nice, they appear to be reading off of a script. They have no power or authority to make anything happen. After two months, we are very tired of hearing "Sorry for the inconvenience". One time my husband asked to speak to a supervisor, and he was told that it wouldn't change anything if he spoke to a supervisor, because it had to go through this process. I was told that I could not be given a supervisor's number or extension. It appears that this process has so many steps and red tape, that each person is responsible for a certain part, but nobody who has any power over the bigger picture is involved.

If they are, we did not know how to reach them and actually were denied at times. I am concerned that LG would not stand by a product that died after 2 years. I feel that LG has been extending this process hoping that we would wear down and give up. I promise that the only acceptable outcome to this is to receive a new refrigerator, and I will not stop until this end is reached. Even if it becomes difficult. It is a matter of principle as well. If I have to involve outside parties, I will.

I feel that whoever is over the entire process (not just supervising a piece of this) needs to be consulted. I am not going to tolerate having to go through several more departments, more red tape, and more waiting, in order to receive a product that works. I know that there is someone who can make this happen quickly. Please forward this letter to the appropriate executive that has the power to fulfill the promise of replacement in a timely manner. Thank you for taking the time to hear my concerns and my experience.

I purchased a LG Refrigerator Model #LFX25960SB in November 2006 and after 1 yr 2 months, I came home to a completely frozen refrigerator section. Absolutely everything was frozen solid in the upper part of my $2049 refrigerator including my sun tea jar which busted into pieces. Now 3 years and 2 months after purchase, the refrigerator almost started on fire! I thought I smelled something hot and it turned out to be the light bulb's socket on fire. Where you screw the light bulbs in, it is black. I unscrewed the bulbs and called LG. They told me, "too bad", it was over 3 years and the warranty was up. I would have to pay for a service call and parts. I told him I spent $2049 and had no intention of spending one more penny on this refrigerator and hung up.

I then researched to discover that a number of these refrigerators have had the exact same problem. I don't understand why there is not a recall, potential fire and nothing is being done. I called LG again tonight and got a different customer service rep and now they are sending a technician and paying for parts and labor because it is a known problem. They say it needs a computer panel replaced and it will be fine. I will never buy LG again! The energy rating has also been wrong from the beginning and I found out that if you register, they have to send you a rebate and pay you annually as long as you own the refrigerator. I plan on doing that as well.

We bought an LG refrigerator in October of 2006. It wasn't delivered until February 2007 and wasn't really in use until April 2007. We were renovating our kitchen and didn't finish until then. Anyway, about 6 months after we installed it, little pieces of plastic kept showing up all over the refrigerator. I couldn't figure out what was breaking. As time went on, bigger pieces started breaking off and now we're up to chunks of plastic breaking off. The glides on the drawers are broken, the hinges on the door are broken off, the light cover is cracked. The bin covers have completely broken off.

In other words, anything that is plastic inside the refrigerator (except for the actual inside shell itself) is either completely broken, cracked or chipped. We started calling LG's customer service department (coincidentally) 1 week after our warranty expired, and they refused to do anything because the warranty had expired. We've tried to explain to them that it's not a warranty item, that the whole interior of the refrigerator (not the shell, but the rest) is made of defective plastic and should be replaced.

We've been trying to convey this for 2+ yrs. Finally, during conversations with an LG representative, in December 2009 and January 2010, they agreed that if we would pay to have an authorized LG representative come out and say that it was defective plastic then they would make concessions for it. Their representative came out on January 14th (which I had to pay $100 for, out of my own pocket), said it was obviously defective plastic, not owner abuse or normal wear and tear. He called LG, from my house, and reported his findings.

The LG tech said to fax him his report and they would give us concessions on the equipment. I faxed the report to him the next day. We didn't hear anything from them for a few days (meanwhile another big chunk of plastic broke off) so I called them. I requested a supervisor, who said that they weren't going to do anything for us because the warranty expired. I was shocked. I went through the last 2-3 yrs with her again over the phone and her answer was, "Sorry! Your warranty has expired. There's nothing we can do."

I asked her why she made me pay $100 to her representative if the answer was still going to be "the warranty expired"? She basically said, "it is what it is!". She eventually said she'd send my request to corporate for their response, which surprisingly was "We aren't going to do anything for you!".

I think this is so wrong. My parents had the same refrigerator for 30yrs and never had anything like this happen. For this to be defective plastic, not even wear and tear or abuse by us, and for them to do nothing is not right. There are so many websites full of people with this exact same problem! Something needs to be done about this.

Instead of LG doing the right thing and fixing this for us, they are hiding behind their customer service reps. You can't get a corporate address, phone number or anything past their customer service people. I've never been so angry and frustrated in my life. I would never buy another LG product in my life, and quite frankly, I'm surprised that America is allowing them to get away with ripping off our citizens like this. It is so wrong.

Who can I go to for help regarding this issue? $2000+ may not be a lot of money to some people, but it is a lot of money for us. Not only do I not have money to go buy another brand new fridge, I can't even keep things on the shelves, of this one, because the shelf holders are broken. Keep in mind, we've only had this thing for 3yrs and we've been dealing with this after having it for only 6 months. That's crazy! Again, my parents had the same refrigerator for 30 yrs! Somebody help me. Please!

The Ice maker broke. We stopped getting ice,and the flap on door didn't work. The tech came and couldn't get parts for three weeks. LG sent wrong parts. We waited two more weeks for new parts. Tech fixed refrigerator and then the cooling fan was not working. Again, we waited for parts for another two weeks. We had to go buy an ice maker in the meantime. Tech comes again and replaces the fan. The fridge worked for three weeks. Besides all this,we kept telling the tech that the front panel was leaking and leaving water marks that will not come off.

None of the techs handled this problem; they blamed us. We then lost water again because the main hose for the water and ice maker exploded in the middle of the night and flooded our basement. The tech came and said we need a new hose. This took weeks because they couldn't get the part because it "never happens". He took it off a fridge in one of the showrooms. He puts the new hose on and leaves and never turns the water on to check if it's working. Of course, when we turned the water on it did not work. We bought an LG 3-door, bottom freezer, refrigerator about 2 years ago. It is the worst refrigerator we have ever had. All of the drawers or their guides have cracked or completely broken. The ice maker is the slowest in history. It takes about 8 hours to fill its tiny bucket. The chute gets clogged about once a week and you have to remove the bucket and clear it. The switch for the light in the refrigerator quit working and melted its fixture. To remove the bulbs, I had to break it open because it had welded together. When you contact LG, they just tell you "your warranty has expired". So I guess their products are only built to last as long as the warranty. Buyer beware! I purchased an LG 3 door french style refrigerator (model number LFTC2376ST) on June 18, 2008. On 12-18-09, I took my shelves out for cleaning, and noticed that there were substantial cracks. I generally do not put very much weight on these shelves, aside from an occasional gallon of milk. I contacted LG in regards to my shelves, and they told me that the refrigerator only comes with a 1 year warranty, and that they could not assist me with the repairs. My concern is not so much the cost of having to replace the shelves. It is a question of the quality of the product. Should I expect to have to replace these shelves every 1.5 to 2 years? Are the shelves only built to last that long so LG can continue to make money, the way printers and ink cartridges do?

The component of the plastic shelves are brittle and falling apart to little particles. I have 4 years Home Deport warranty, but it did not cover removable parts. I am debating to have someone to make shelf for it, or to replace the self to support the two veg drawer. It costs $217.00, that will last for another 1 1/2 years again. Also,I have two other shelves that cracked at the same location. If anyone has a chance to read this article, please save yourself from the trouble. Do not just purchase for look or style. Purchase items that are more functional, and durable. Life's good (LG).

The materials that make up the tray or shelves fall apart after almost 2 years, like a potato chip. The materials are very poor that it cannot hold the weight of a gallon of milk and juice to family of three.

We bought the LMX25981SB French Door refrigerator from Best Buy at the end of August '09. The unit worked fine until it broke down completely the second week of December. I called LG and reported that neither the refrigerator nor the freezer was working. They sent a service man that was not experienced and had to call LG back and forth to figure out what was wrong. They determined that the compressor had to be replaced. The local service didn't have it, so LG had to ship it a week later!

The service man came to replace the compressor and after further testing determined that the original compressor was okay, but another part had to be replaced and the unit had to be refilled with Freon. The refrigerator was repaired and worked fine for a week! Then it broke down again. LG sent another service contractor who deemed the unit irreparable and reported it to LG the same day. This was right before Christmas so I was told to contact LG after the holidays and they will make a decision on replacement and let me know how to proceed. I called after Christmas and spoke with a manager, Ms. Valerie M who told me that LG has a problem with their "system" and nothing can be done, but they will call me right after the New Year. Nobody called, so I called them on January 5th and I was told that it will take 24 to 48 hours for a different department to make a decision (remember, the refrigerator was deemed irreparable by the LG service tech.) and call me back.

Nobody did, so on January 7th, I called again and I was told that my case is being reviewed and I will be contacted by LG within 3 to 5 business days. I demanded to speak with a manager again but I was told that all of them are busy and nobody can talk to me. So the case continues and I don't know how it will end. Total dissatisfaction with LG and their so-called repair of the ice maker. Someone needs to sue for a recall of all these lemons with LG and Kenmore on the label. Consequences: I have a malfunctioning LG fridge that costs $2,400 and won’t perform as advertised.

We bought the LG side-by-side. In the first year, we had repairs four times before they replaced the refrigerator. We paid extra to upgrade to their "top of the line" LG, thinking it would be improved. The replacement lasted one year before the circuit board went out. We waited four weeks for the replacement part and repair without the use of a refrigerator. LG would not give us a discount on the circuit board even with all the past problems. I would never buy or recommend an LG.

My LG Refrigerator is 2 1/2 years old. In March of 2009, I received a letter from LG stating that a part needed to be replaced, as this model refrigerator was not keeping the proper temperature. They would send someone out and there would be no charge. I told them my fridge seemed fine but they said it needed to be changed and also offered an incentive, a small check as a reimbursement for extra energy the fridge had consumed for not running at the proper temperature. I agreed and American Unlimited Electronics came out on 3/4/09. The paperwork stated mode modification and mechanism malfunction.

Again, this was not my complaint. Not long after, the fridge really did begin having difficulty. I kept re-arranging things and adjusting the thermostat. Recently my food in the fridge especially the crispers started freezing. There literally is ice forming on the food. I called back LG and told them that the part they replaced was defective and they needed to come back and fix what they did. They said sorry, I'm out of warranty. I said this isn't about my warranty this is about you fixing what you did last March. They won't stand behind it. I called back the service company who is independent and they wanted a $70.00 service fee to come back and even look at it. They told me if I had a problem I had to fight the manufacturer. In the meantime, I need my fridge so I called another company who repairs LG (not many want to anymore I learned). They came out, no svc. charge and of course it is a $400 repair. I'm fit to be tied. I had to order the part and gave a deposit, but I'm so upset that LG will not stand behind their work. In addition, that the service company that they sent out last March refused to stand by their work as well.

We bought an LG Refrigerator three and half years ago in 2006 because it was energy-efficient. We come to find out it was not as efficient as it is made out to be and the Government made LG give us a check for reimbursement for the difference in energy cost. In September 2009, LG came to our home and replaced the circuit board to make the refrigerator more efficient. On or about the 12th of December 2009, our LG fridge started making noises that has continued to this date. I have called LG numerous times and complained and each time they have told me to try several different remedies for fixing the very annoying sound.

These remedies included turning it off overnight, blow drying the motor area, turning off the ice machine and moving food away from interior vents. I have been told that it was no longer under warranty and in good faith, because I called before the ninety-day warranty was up, they would see it through with the repairs. This was only after I threatened to go higher up the chain of command.

We purchased a brand-new LG refrigerator (model # LRSC 26940SW) in July 2007 from Appliance Direct. One of the features it has is a jet freeze versus express freeze. Less than a year after we purchased it, the refrigerator kept on switching back and forth between the jet and express freeze cycles. In May of 2009, the refrigerator shut down completely, and we lost everything in it. I called and the service person told me to unplug the unit for 3 hours to reset the computer in it, and everything should be fine. I did as I was told, and yes, the compressor kicked back on when we plugged it in. Well now, we are in December and the compressor again shut down. I tried unplugging it for 5 hours to reset the computer, but this time it didn't work.

So I called LG. This time, they tell me it is out of warranty and to call an authorized service repair company. They gave me two companies. The first said they no longer service LG. When I asked if it was because they were terrible appliances, they said yes. The second company came out, and the technician had to call LG as he had never seen anything like what he saw when he opened the back. They told him the main circuit board was defective and the defrost switch was bad. Being that we had only owned the appliance for 2 and a half years, I called LG again. Valerie, the "Executive Service Department" contact, told me that although I had only owned the refrigerator for 2 and a half years, it was manufactured in 2005. Being that, it's 4 years old and they would not help with the repair. This leads me to believe that since it only comes with a 1-year warranty, the warranty was moot because when I bought it, it was already 2 years old.

I've used the LG three-door refrigerator for three years and have experienced two major problems. The first one is the ice maker problem. Ice in the maker is always stuck together. It does not get released in normal operation. My family has to tap the storage hard all the time. I used other brands like GE and Maytag. It never had this type of problem before.

Second problem is the refrigerator area temperature goes down far below 32. It freezes all the food. This problem happens 3-4 times a year especially in spring and autumn. Whenever it happens, I have to discard all the food in the refrigerator, 3-4 times a year the past three years of using LG refrigerator. I called CS, but they say it's not a problem. It's just the result of the circulation of the refrigerant. If it's not a problem, why does the refrigerator freeze all the food? It's supposed to maintain the temperature of 34 degree that I set up, but it goes way below it and freezes all the food. I really regret the purchase of LG and its services. I'm planning to change it years earlier than its mechanical life.

Another ridiculous thing from LG customer service, they called me and left a message to change the power related part. I called back to LG. What they said was "We don't have the part, so call later again." Duh! They called me without having the necessary part.

I bought my fridge on 11/06/08 from Best Buy. It is an LG LFZ25980ST with a retail value of $3200. Only 2 months after purchase, I found that all soft items in my fridge were frozen! I didn't get the Best Buy warranty (big mistake) because LG provided one. It didn't make sense to buy another and I assumed that anything was wrong they would make right. Not! They sent someone out to fix it. I took 1/2 day off work for the repair guy, he looked at it, called in parts and then set up another appointment to replace the parts and I took another 1/2 day off work. This happened another 4 times. The 3rd time I asked them to replace it; they said, "No, we need to try and fix it again."

The 4th time (9/09) they said the same thing but also, "If this happens again, we will replace it." I told them that the next time it will most likely be out of warranty. They said, "Don't worry, if it is the same issue we will take care of it." Well, here we are 12/16/09 and all my veggies are frozen again. I called LG and got the same runaround. The worst of it is, there is only the customer rep and a supervisor and no one above that person to talk to. She then told me my fridge is now out of warranty and she would have to extend it. I am like I want it replaced! She said, "Ma'am, I can extend the warranty and have it repaired again or you can deal with it yourself." So, of course, what choice do I have? I also asked, "How many times does the same issue have to be fixed before you will replace it?" Reply was: "Ma'am, I can't answer that."

I asked, "What happens if it does this again and the extended warranty is over?" She responded, "Ma'am, you will have to see if you can get it extended again." Best Buy can't do anything because I didn't buy their warranty. They wouldn't even take it back when this first started. My advice is, from now on when you buy a major appliance, buy the warranty from the store and verify their replacement policy up front. Do not ever buy an LG appliance. I have their dish washer and love it. I love the fridge when it works. When they work, their appliances are great. The problem is, if you get a lemon, you will have to have it fixed over and over again until they finally say "No, sir/ma'am, we cannot extend that warranty again." That is enough for me to not buy another LG.

Well, we figured out that a fuse had blown on the main circuit board, and of course, you can't just replace the blown fuse because it's soldered onto the circuit board. The internal water line to the ice maker failed and caused a leak that has damaged our tile kitchen floor, cracking tiles and compromising the subfloor.

Several months ago, I noticed the freezer frosting and ice shrinking and it's taking a very long time to make. Then it got so warm in the freezer that an entire box of popsicles thawed and gooed the main bin and everything in it. I followed the manufacturer's recommendations to "reset" the freezer and it helped minimally. After I finally gave up my denial over the failure of my $1400 unit, I called an LG-authorized service company whose number LG has supplied me with. I was told that I had a "sealed system leak" that would in the end cost me $700 to repair. Before he came, the freezer was reading about 20F degrees. It now is reading 27F degrees.

We called LG several times to get help and finally ended up calling a plumber and replacing the water line ourselves. The ice maker jams continuously so that every few days, you have to open the ice container and chop up the ice and clean out the shoot. Both hydrator drawers have broken (the plastic pieces where they insert into the tracks break off with almost no pressure).

After we called, they did send out a repairman to fix the drawer. The front piece of the drawer (plastic) also broke off and is beyond repair. I do have to say that for the first year, while the refrigerator was under warranty, LG did fix everything that was broken with the refrigerator. It's just that this was an expensive refrigerator and one would expect that things would not be breaking in the first year. We have continued to have problems but it is no longer under warranty. LG's "customer service" states they have no knowledge of this defect (I suggested they Google it to see how many pages they'd find) and that it was a problem with my water pressure. Hardly, I have well water with the pressure turned down low. Many people have complained about this problem. I believe a class action lawsuit is in order, because LG won't accept responsibility for their poor design.

I purchased an LG French door refrigerator, model LCF25760, in 2006. This morning, I opened the door to find that the lights were lit and the housing for them was melted, hanging down and very hot. I have been looking on the internet for recalls for this problem and have found none. I have found that numerous other persons have had the exact same problem. All of the blogs indicate that they have contacted LGE about this problem and have been told that the repair was the consumer's problem since the unit was out of warranty. I will probably get the same story when I call.

When is LGE going to wake up and figure out that this is a major fire hazard and it is only a matter of time, if it hasn't happened already, that someone's house is going to burn down and/or people are going to die due to this problem they have yet to fix? If a class action lawsuit is instituted, I will certainly join it unless LGE steps up to the plate and solves this problem.

I was told LG would do nothing to correct this problem. I spent over $1,600.00 and I don't think motherboards should be failing at 4 years old causing the lights to stay on and melt the housing. That is faulty product and LG know about. So I will be sure to include as many links as I can like this site when I post a YouTube video showing the faulty parts. Warranty or not, this is unacceptable. If you made quality parts, people wouldn't be forced to buy extended warranties. I experienced ice maker problems on 3 occasions which were finally fixed by a modification of the filling of the ice cube unit. The "fix" did not work thereafter, because the water continued to slightly overfill the ice cube maker. But we lived with it rather than go through the ice buildup parts and labor cost. At age 73, this was to be our last refrigerator. And today, the unit which spits out the ice (cube or crushed) stopped working (It appears that the plastic fan which channels the ice is broken and the axle is off center.). We have 2 LG TVs. I asked LG to give us some help and fix a product which should have lasted longer than it did. Answer is "Sorry... 1-year warranty, and unless you paid extra to extend the warranty." (Why when you pay $1400+?). My problem. Do not buy LG refrigerator with ice maker and expect it to last beyond one (1) year. I am not through with this issue. Since then, the interior light malfunctioned melting the computer housing assembly inside the fridge. The plastic for the drawers are so brittle that they have cracked or broken. The rubber gaskets have all broken again. The ice maker sensor does not work as the fridge never stops making ice. Now I'm thinking class action lawsuit! This fridge can barely be 3 years old. The freezer works, but the ice maker doesn't. And the error code on the door panel indicates I should unplug the fridge, take everything out of the refrigerator and the freezer, wait 3-4 hours or longer, and then "try it." Well, it does work for an hour or so. So far, I've gone through this process 4 times, and still no ice. Do I even bother with a 5th attempt? After reading all of these complaints and paying $2200 or so, I'm thinking what's the use? Maybe I should be looking for another refrigerator instead! There should be a recall on this thing. I'm really disgusted. (My parent's fridge work for 25 years. It was a Coldspot, and it never gave out - probably still working somewhere!) What is going on here with engineering and product quality?

We have owned many refrigerators due to apartment units we own and have never had a problem like this with any of the other brands. LG flatly refuses to stand behind their product. We were not asking for full coverage, just a break on the part prices.

The replacement parts cost $274 plus tax. We question how many times we will need to replace these parts over the course of the life of the fridge. Also, other plastic parts are now failing. Replacing the interior plastic could cost us as much as the original fridge.
