I had a Kohler generator in my previous home and got another one in my current home. Everything went fine during the installation. They did a good job. The generator runs its exercise. Though it's a lot more expensive than Generac, I'd recommend it.
Thank you for choosing KOHLER Generators again. We appreciate your continued trust and are glad to hear the installation went smoothly and your system is running as expected.
Your recommendation means a lot to us.

I got a Kohler generator on the side of my house. I also looked at Generac but I liked the lifetime warranty that Kohler has. It was also a reasonable price. When I had estimates, I had three or four of them, but I didn't pick the bottom one or the top one. I also considered what they could do for me with extra work and stuff that I needed. The generator kicks on once a week for 15 to 30 minutes and having it, I'm guaranteed that I'm not gonna lose power unless I run out of propane.

KOHLER generators are a little bit more expensive with the wire, but we wanted one that was quieter because it was going to be between our house and the neighbors. And the KOHLER was quieter, so we bought it. But the installers from Quality Home Products botched the installation twice. They forgot to flip some sort of breaker that they were supposed to flip. But they sent somebody out and they fixed it. Then we had power outage for 20 minutes because they didn't install it right. But they fixed it now and they were true to their word. So far, the generator has never been used, so I don't know if it works or not. I'm hoping it does because we paid $18,000 for it. We also have a three-year warranty service contract with the company that installed it. It gets a test run every Monday, but the power hasn't gone out since we've gotten it.
Thank you for your feedback. We are glad to hear the installation concerns were addressed and resolved.
It is great to know your KOHLER generator is completing its regular exercise cycles as expected. That routine testing helps ensure the system is ready when you need it.

We had a Kohler generator installed last year. This year was the 1 year maintenance service call. On the backside of the generator are two 1.5" diameter holes. After a couple months, I opened the top and found mouse droppings inside, and a mouse nest around the air filter. The only access was through these two holes. I purchased some round screen vents and plugged the holes with these $2 parts. I haven't seen any sign of mice since. It seems to me the company could have plugged these holes in the manufacturing of the rear panel. Other than that, the generator came on fine when the power went out.
Thank you for sharing your experience. We are glad to hear your KOHLER generator performed as expected during the outage.
We also appreciate you bringing this to our attention.

I needed a generator and after doing research and talking with people who had generators, I decided on Kohler. I went to my electrician who does generators and used them instead of a Kohler dealer because they gave me a better price. But people should make sure they talk to the person installing the generator. The person I talked to said the Kohler generator had wireless communication and that it came with it when we bought it through an authorized dealer. But it was cabled. I do not have a cable close to where I put the generator, so I needed it wireless, and I had to buy one of the Kohler wireless systems and install it myself. It had a place to plug in, but the Kohler wireless did not work the way I expected. I had to hardwire it, and it was not as simple as the instructions made it sound.
I have only had the generator for six months. It has come on when the power has gone off, timely and seamlessly. I thought I could start my generator from my phone through the app, but I have not found a way to do that. The app shows usage and things like that, but it does not give me the ability to turn the generator on and off remotely. Other than that, the Kohler generator has worked fine and I am pleased with it. They need improvement, though, in the instructions and the combination of the wireless system, the app, and the generator.
Thank you for taking the time to share such detailed feedback. We are glad to hear your KOHLER generator has been performing reliably and starting seamlessly during outages.
We also understand your frustrations with the wireless setup, installation expectations, and app functionality. Clear communication and ease of setup are important, and your experience highlights areas where there is opportunity to improve. Your feedback is valuable and will be shared with our team as we continue to enhance the overall experience.

From time to time, we have had bad weather come through. I was without lights one time for four days. I live alone, and I'm 86 years old, so I got to thinking about getting a generator. You got to run the lines in the house, and you got to do all this kind of stuff when the lights go out. I decided I would bite the bullet and have a generator put in. My grandson and I were talking, and he was the one who encouraged me to get the KOHLER generator. The people who came out were great to deal with and did a good job. They explained to me what they were doing, when they were doing it. They were doing a special 10-year warranty on parts. I got that.
My outage has been for two hours, and I didn't realize any electricity had gone off. My daughter called me and said, "The lights went out today." I said, "They did?" She said, "Yeah. For two hours. Didn't you know?" I said, "No. I didn't know. I had no change. I was cooking and everything was fine." Two hours has been the longest that mine has been out. I never realized that the lights had gone out or the stove wasn't working. The greatest thing for me in my situation, at this time in my life, it gives me peace. I know if electricity goes off, I don't have to worry about it, and I don't have to get somebody to run to the gas station and get gas to go in an outdoor generator.
Thank you for sharing this. After experiencing extended outages, it makes complete sense to look for a solution that brings more comfort and security, and we are glad you chose KOHLER Generators.
It is especially meaningful to hear that when the power went out, everything in your home continued without interruption. Being able to cook, stay comfortable, and not have to worry about managing fuel or asking for help is exactly the kind of peace of mind a KOHLER generator is designed to provide.
We are also pleased to hear the installation team took the time to walk you through everything and made the process a positive one. We appreciate you sharing your experience.

I heard about Kohler through friends in the area who have generators, and I know that Kohler is a quality product. I chose them over Generac. We live up in the middle of nowhere, miles away from anything. And having the generator is peace of mind more than anything else. The electrician who we had do the installation for us did a great job. Part of the reason I chose Kohler is that he said it's a better product and easier for them to maintain than Generac. They did a great job.
Thank you for sharing your experience. When you are in a remote location, having dependable backup power really matters, and we are glad to hear your KOHLER generator is giving you that peace of mind.
It is also great to hear your electrician provided a strong installation experience and helped guide your decision. Feedback like this means a lot, especially when it comes from both homeowners and trusted professionals.

My contractor recommended Kohler as being better than Generac, which helped me with my decision on purchasing the generator. I asked my contractor how much it would cost to have one. He gave me a figure, and I checked a little bit with other people and it was roughly what they paid. I just wanted to go ahead, and he purchased Kohler.
The generator was installed well before the house was finished. I just moved to the South in August, and we were finished. I need to talk to my general contractor and contact the people who do the maintenance to see if I can have an app so I can check whether the generator is working or not. But it started when we had a few power outages. It worked on two occasions and I didn't even know we didn't have a power outage. I just realized that there was a little bit of noise coming from the roof and that was the generator. It’s a fantastic experience with Kohler and I’m very happy with what I have.
Thank you for sharing your experience. We are glad to hear that your KOHLER generator has been performing reliably and providing seamless backup power during outages. Not noticing an outage is exactly what our generator is designed to do.
It is also great to hear your contractor helped guide your decision and that the overall experience has been a positive one. For app access and monitoring, you can find our Kohler Energy Management App. Available on the Apple App Store and Google Play Store.

We live in the mountains and power goes out up here. We looked at generators and our neighbors went with KOHLER, and so we did too. The marketing came from our neighbors who kept the generator first and had talked to the supplier. Then, once we talked to the supplier, we were very happy with it. It sounded like it's going to be a great advantage to us. Our contractor was wonderful. He's very knowledgeable and very nice and was timely and efficient. So, we're very happy with them.
KOHLER's app is very informative. It is great. We had to use our generator a couple of hours during the last ice storm. We were very satisfied with our generator. We had power. Our refrigerator was working, our stove was working, and our house had lights. My husband sleeps with a CPAP machine. So, that's an advantage. We've only had the generator for a short period of time and it's really only been active once for about five hours, but it's doing exactly what they said it would do, which is good.
Thank you for sharing your five-star review.
It is great to know your contractor made the process smooth and that the system performed well during the ice storm. Having your home fully powered, especially for important needs like a CPAP, is exactly the kind of peace of mind a KOHLER generator is meant to provide.

We are a retired couple and we're older now. When the weather goes out, we don't wanna have to worry. I heard that Kohler is a little better now. At one-time, another brand's generators were better, but now the Kohlers are. The rep gave me a fair price and I was very pleased. The installer was very nice, attentive and everything was perfect. I have no complaints. He even put everything on my phone for me, so the information is online. It's great. I haven't had to use the generator yet, but everything's gonna be fine. It tests every Sunday morning and I can hear it, which is fine. I like being able to know it's on. I've had several people call me about the generator and my son bought one too.

Because of my age, I was sick and tired of dragging out the little generator and every four hours having to run it during a hurricane with trees falling all around us. I decided to buy a home generator from KOHLER. My husband worked in a facility as a director for hospitals, and that's what he said was the best so that was what we went with. The people we purchased it from also said that it was the best. During one of the test runs, it wouldn't run. We called our people that installed it and they came right out and it was just it had a bad battery. It's on a weekly check test run, and it ran well this morning.

We purchased our 20 kW Kohler generator in 2015. We were told that Kohler generators last longer than some of the other options even though they tend to be more expensive. We have a maintenance plan which costs more than $500 per year which includes twice yearly inspections, the most recent one was in November.. We have relatively infrequent power outages most of which last for just a few hours so the generator has less than 300 hours of run time.
On Friday, January 30th we had a power outage. The generator tried to start but then got bogged down and stopped. We attempted to reach the company that maintains the generator and finally heard back from them 3 days later. Their technician came out to look at the generator. He told us the motor is seized up and we would either need a new motor or a new generator. We suspected he might be trying to get us to buy something we didn't need so we had another company check it out and he confirmed the engine was locked up. I asked if Kohler would cover at least a part of the cost for repairs but were told that since the generator is more than 5 years old they won't cover it. It seems to me that age isn't as important as run time.
I also called Kohler directly and asked if they thought their generators should fail with with less than than 300 hours of run time? I didn't get an answer. I also asked if they would inspect the motor to see if there was an internal defect. Their answer was they don't do that. It seems they are OK with selling unreliable products as long as they're making a profit. If you are thinking about buying a Kohler generator I would recommend caution. Our experience may not be typical but what bothers me most is they don't seem to care about identifying and fixing potential defects.
Thank you for sharing your experience. We are disappointed to hear about the issues you have encountered with your KOHLER generator.
We take concerns about product performance seriously. Your feedback is important and will be shared with our team for review.

I've been thinking about getting a generator for a long time. I already have a Kohler motor at my house and I like the Kohler motor. So I got a Kohler generator. I've had it on for eight hours when the power went out already since I got it and it automatically comes on the second the power goes off. I have an oxygen machine. It runs on electricity. I also have a nebulizer that I use, that I have to have electricity. So, when the power goes out, I don't have an oxygen machine or a nebulizer. The Kohler generator is just a good thing to have.

I bought about a dozen KOHLER generators for work. I work for a gas utility and we have the support in our most critical site. I monitor these things on my phone. They are our backup power that control our most critical rig stations and flow meters that supply all the heat for Anchorage in South Central Alaska and all of our power plants. When these don't work, we go cold and dark.
We stay on top of these things. Matter of fact, they just all exercised an hour ago. They exercise 20 minutes on every Tuesday, and we love the new software that they just updated. It's amazing. KOHLER is still the best on the market, but it had some kinks. I've been working with my local dealer at Raven Electric. Preston there's been great, and he's got support with the new software from KOHLER. We've been dealing directly with him. We're giving a lot of feedback. We're one of the few end users that use it the way we do. It's kind of a quasi-commercial residential since it's a residential product but we use it in a commercial application, so we get probably years' worth of experience in a month.
We've already run some KOHLER generators through their end of life and replaced them with the same ones. We already know there are some quirks on some of them, and that's fine. We know what to look for. We do our own maintenance, so we keep our own kits and own spares. I have no complaints with them. When we retire them, we auction them off in-house and our employees buy them and put them at their house. I know about half a dozen employees that have them at their house.
KOHLER's price point is very good. I get a little bit of a discount because of the volume and the customer. The only thing I could ding them on is that they kind of put the screws to my dealer on some of the warranty work. He has to fight some because here's our model. I don't think their warranty works well up here. We just had a coolant leak on a newly installed unit this fall. It's a three-hour drive just to get to the coolant lake. Other than that, I've recommended them.
Thank you for the five-star review and for relying on Kohler Generators to power such critical operations.
We’re proud to support your team and are pleased to hear the performance, software upgrades, and dealer support from your dealer have met your expectations. We also appreciate your feedback on warranty logistics in Alaska and will continue working to improve support in unique environments.

After the great freezeout, we decided that a generator was a nice piece of insurance. I read up on KOHLER and a couple of other brands. Then, I really liked the presentation that the salesman made. He was very professional and he answered all my questions. Also, I worked in a chemical plant, so I knew KOHLER from generators in the plant, which was another reason that I was looking at KOHLER to begin with. The installation was smooth right along. They did a good job and coordinated with the city real well. We listen to our generator turn on once a week as it automatically turns on from somewhere. I was told that I couldn't get an app to do it myself because it needed to be hardwired. So it's connected back to the home office.

I had a Generac generator before and decided I wanted to upsize it. Also, the unit started to have some issues. After I did some research on the internet and talking to my brother-in-law who is an electrician by trade, we decided KOHLER was the best choice. I've had a good experience with KOHLER. The service tech that came over and did the startup was very knowledgeable and we didn't have any issues getting the unit up and running. He helped us with setting the app up on our phone. So it does a test fire on a predetermined schedule and I get alerted on my phone every Wednesday that the generator is tested.

I researched stuff very thoroughly before I bought a KOHLER Generator. I compared it with the competitor, Generac. Where Generac is plastic, KOHLER got metal parts. It sits right beside my dining room window. I can’t hear it run. My neighbor has a Generac two houses down, and you can hear hers run. I told my aunt and friends to forget about Generac and go with KOHLER.
The generator comes on at the time that they programmed it, runs for 20 minutes to keep the battery charged, and shuts off. It’s quiet. I like the look. However, the company that installed it, I dislike. It was a whole long, drawn-out mess. They promised us one day, then they had an emergency job on the other side of Houston. I'm sitting here with crap scattered all over my backyard. It was like a week before they got back out here. I'm almost 73 years old, and I was ready to fist fight somebody. I wouldn't let them back on my property, except I have to let them do the maintenance. I think it's due in February. That's when they're gonna change the oil and do whatever it is they do.

We got it in July in case the weather is cold and we’ll be without power and so, it would be an added protection. The guy who installed it was excellent. He worked by himself as it’s his own company, and his waiting list is close to a year but he came highly recommended. He's very fair. He did what he said and did it for a good price. Others’ prices were overpriced, even unethical. I got a quote for 96-kilowatt at $76,000 for the house and barn. It was ridiculous.
I’m very satisfied with KOHLER. I haven’t had to use it but I run it every week as advised. I've not had a power outage nor had to rely on it yet. But so far, everything works just like he said.
