We bought this washer in ginger color and it started to rust in the top around the soap dispenser. We contacted Sears and we were told that rusting was not covered in their warranty, and they wanted us to buy their additional warranty policy. The washer has continued to rust and it looks terrible. I believe that they didn't put a protective seal on the paint. The washer and dryer are in an inside laundry room.

We bought this HE Kenmore Elite top load washer several years ago. First we noticed that the thing just didn't clean the clothes well--- whites were coming out gray, etc. Then it started getting loud during the spin cycle. I don't mean noisy-- I mean LOUD. I looked on the Internet and found many complaints about this-- apparently the bearings are often defective and go bad quickly. The cost to replace is more expensive than just replacing it with a standard washer that actually cleans clothes.
As I sit here typing the thing has gotten so loud that I'm certain OSHA would require hearing protection to be near it. We're now beginning to notice tears in sheets and table clothes. Not only is it deafening and cleans poorly, it's now actually damaging our clothes and linens! I hate the thing--- I mean HATE it. It was a total waste of money and we're just trying to get enough use out of it to make buying a new washer cost-effective. A horrible, horrible piece of poop. The Kenmore brand used to be reliable-- it's no wonder Sears is on the ropes and possibly failing. It deserves its fate.

Kenmore Front-loading Automatic Washer Model #796.4127 - We purchased our washer about a yr and a half ago. Hate it on SO many levels. I thought it would be great for bedding and such but NOTHING comes clean. I can wash my husband's work shirts and after they are washed and dried I can still smell his cologne on the shirts. We live on the water and I lost my top loader in a hurricane which caused our basement to flood. I was overjoyed thinking I could finally buy a front loader and that it would be so much better. I wish I could turn back the hands of time and know then what I know now because I would have bought another top loader for sure. You just can't get clothes clean without an agitator! And the SMELL!!! OMG it is HORRIBLE! It has this little drain tube you have to drain every couple of weeks, you can't leave the door closed or the smell is disgusting, but then you worry about the rubber seal drying out.
I hate this washer on so many levels it isn't funny. Would NOT recommend it even to my worst enemy. Laundry is enough of a chore without having to wait almost 2 hours to wash a load on the heavy setting but if you don't set it to that, nothing comes clean. Heck even on the heavy setting, it still comes out as stained as it went in. I use a laundry pretreat and that helps a little but if you are thinking of buying this, change your mind and RUN!!!

Kenmore Washer Model No. 796.40318900. Shortly after purchasing the very expensive washer it started leaking water. Why, no explanation given from sears. Then we started getting "dE" which means "door error". Since I was busy working we decided to get sears out to repair. I should have done it myself! They send tech out a week later and just used the code given to swap out parts without really troubleshooting the root cause of problem. They replace the door switch for $240.00. Three days later it has the same "dE" and at this point I am livid at myself and sears. IF it's the same part that went bad they would fix it under the 90 warranty on that part, if it's something else they would charge me again. Just swapping out parts is not a reliable way to troubleshoot a problem. That's just the easiest way sears probably trains their techs.
This took about 3 weeks to get the second tech out. I just wanted to get another switch installed and I was going to troubleshoot the real problem myself. I guessed you figured out by now, nobody I know that is married can go a month without washing clothes on a regular basis. I will NEVER do business with sears again. I took the wife to Lowe's and purchased an LG washer that was very similar that would fit on the stand I purchased with the kenmore. When the second tech finally shows up, I point him to the garage where the Kenmore sat connected to power. He told me he couldn't troubleshoot it not connected to water. I told him "sure you can because it gets the same door error and will not start."
Now the truth comes out from his mouth. "Well the problem is not the door switch, it's the software!" I said, "You mean the controller?" He said, "Yes", this is a known problem and for a refurbished one it will be $125.00 plus labor and a new one is $225.00 plus labor since it's not the original part. So let's get this straight! They knew it was the controller and they scam you into believing it could be other parts to charge you out the ** just to steal your money! Now I paid for a repair that didn't really fix the problem because the controller works randomly and now they want another $350.00 to replace the controller. This will bring the total to ~$600.00 to fix a used Kenmore Washer that cost me $1500.00 brand new.
No matter how you look at it, with the new LG Washer and the cost to repair the old one that I may not be able to sell without gilt is now over $2,100.00. By the way, the tech also said that Sears tried to duplicate the technology from LG and failed badly and sells everyone crap at big $$$$$. Also, the water on your floor is caused by a couple things. If there is too many suds build up in the washer it will flush it out the back of the washer and runs down the back side onto the floor. They didn't design it to go out the drain normally. This makes no sense whatsoever! If you do not clean the glass door and rubber around the door frequently, it will leak water out the front also and begin to make your washer smell bad. Straight out of the tech's mouth.
Way to go Sears! Make everyone's life a PAIN. Now that other companies sell tools that are lifetime warrantied, there is no need to buy anything from this company ever again. STAY AWAY FROM SEARS! I hope you read this complaint board before making your next purchase!

Kenmore Model 110. This perhaps is the easiest and cheapest washer to own. I repaired mine and it only cost me $40 bucks in parts to almost do a complete overall. It's over 15 years old and all those side loading so-called "HE" washers are way too delicate and cost hundreds to thousands to own. Do yourself a favor and go to used appliance store and buy one of these 110 models. May not be the prettiest girl in the bunch but she sure as hell will not leave you hanging like these new ones made today. You can thank me in 15- 20 yrs.

Sears Kenmore front loading washer and dryer with service agreement. Machines frequently broken. Under service agreement it takes a minimum of 3 weeks to get machines repaired and sometimes as long as 6. Service appointments are in 8 hour window disrespecting time of the consumer. I will not purchase any additional Kenmore appliances as I am tired of frequent breakdowns and long time until the machines are repaired.

I'll try to be as fair as I can without cursing. I really, really HATE my Kenmore high efficiency washing machine. It takes literally hours if not the whole day to wash a single load. And when the cycle complete light says it's done and I open the lid, I'm usually looking at a load that has not spun and is soaking wet. I've tried every setting and I'm constantly having to come back to the machine to check if it's going o.k. I thought by purchasing this machine I would save on water but instead, I end up rewashing loads and wasting time. It's a nightmare. It's a fairly new machine and I'm already considering taking it to the dump and buying a new one. I wouldn't want to donate it. Nobody deserves a machine like this. I've had family members ask me how I like my machine because they needed a new one. I told them not to buy the high efficiency ones. I told them the truth. I HATE IT! I will never ever buy another one like this or recommend it to anyone. It may even deter me from buying Kenmore products too.

My washer stopped at or before the Spin cycle on a normal wash load with a SD (suds detected) error. I ran through the rinse and spin hoping to finish the load, no luck. Then took all the clothes out to run a "clean washer" cycle. This did not help nudge the machine back into entering a spin cycle on my next attempt at a normal wash load.
I called Sears at the number provided on the washer manual. The service agent scheduled a repair visit and stepped right into selling me a $479 per year home warranty agreement which would supposedly "cover all appliances" in my home no matter their age or condition and only charge me $60 per service visit. I declined the offer. I searched the Internet and happened to find out that my washer had a recall on it for the exact same problem(s). I called the recall line 800-659-7026 and the agent promptly ordered me a new control board and a free replacement service.
The next week, the service technician left me saying that the machine is operating properly. After he left, I tried a wash and the washer failed to spin. The service technician arrived again next week after I reported this and now found that the main bearing/shaft had deteriorated and needed replacement at a cost of $354. He charged me $94 because I declined the repair (which he would have done the following week anyway). I decided to buy a new washer instead. The washer is about 7 years old and I think this is rather short life for the expensive appliance that it is. Sears appeared to solve my problem by selling me a warranty instead of taking care of my immediate concern. At $479 a year, I can buy a new major appliance every year and not have to wait for Sears' approval or fine print. So to summarize: 1. The washer has a very short life, 2. Sears customer service is very poor.

Started getting PF error. Wife called for support. No one could provide support nor did they want to. Said it was against policy to provide troubleshooting, but they would be happy to set up an appointment for around $129. The washer only has a 1 yr warranty. Anything that you pay more than $500 for should cover parts for at least 3yrs. The staff at Sears stated, "you should have got the extended warranty babe, nothing is made like it used to and your lucky if it last 3 yrs." I was able to reset and get it going for a few days but it has stopped working again. Believe there is an issue with the control panel.

Kenmore Elite Oasis Washer - We have always bought Sears "Kenmore" appliances, and purchased the maintenance contract. The repairmen that have been sent out on a lid locking problem have not been able to resolve this issue. This started in August, and the last two appointments have been cancelled the day of the appointment (when my wife called the 800 number to find out what time the repairman would be at our house). Currently the laundry room is stinking, the entire first floor of our home because the water is stagnant and will not drain. The 800 number has made an appointment for our washer to be repaired on December 8th. This is the longest we have ever had to wait the first floor of our home should really smell great by then.

My Kenmore elite washing is only six years old and the computer in it stopped working. I don't feel I should have to pay approximately $400 to get it repaired nor should I have to replace my machine with a new one at my expense. I have read many many complaints regarding this machine due to the same problem, the computer board not working. I have been buying Kenmore products from Sears for many many years but I am very disappointed in this washing machine. I will not buy nor will I recommend Kenmore products to anyone unless Kenmore/Sears replaces my broken washing machine with a new one.

I bought a Kenmore washer and dryer in August 2013, and was told I would never have problems. The washer doesn't clean anything and always smells. The dyer collects fluff and dust, a fire hazard under the filter. You need to vacuum the area when you remove the filter or the dryer fluff accumulates. So my washing machine is 1 year and one month and has totally died. There is nothing to do but spend more money. I have no more money. My previous washer and dryer lasted 20 years, with 3 kids. I hate Kenmore and will never buy anything from Sears ever again. This should not happen.

The very first couple weeks we bought a kenmore front load washer it flooded out the laundry room many times. Floors, walls and basement was damaged. We have called for a appliance tech, to come and see what was happening. The most times this would happen if I used any other setting except normal wash in the beginning. The tech couldn't see anything wrong. He didn't try putting it on wash while he was here. He didn't seem to have any idea about this product. After a couple of months going through the same thing we requested for a new washer while the warranty was still on it. Sears was months looking into the problem for us and every time we go and see them, they said finally we will be getting a new one. We never did get a new one and now the washer is worst than what it ever was. As of this weekend I am draining the water in a bucket so I can get my clothes out of the washer. Very dissatisfied customer...

I had a Kenmore Washer & Dryer for 13 years and only had to replace 1 part on the washer and my husband did it. So we thought it was time to purchase a new set that might be more energy efficient and thought we would go with the Kenmore brand again. July 2013 we purchased the Kenmore Elite top loading washer and matching dryer, for a lot of money, not bottom of the line. My husband was not happy with the washer right away, he felt his work clothes were not getting clean. I thought it might be the setting they were getting washed on so I tried different combinations. I also realized that I couldn't let items soak in the water overnight, it would drain out.
We continued to use them since they were not broken and we had given away our other set. In the last 1-2 months I can't wash a load of anything (it first was only blankets) it stops and says unbalanced load. I had them installed by the company who brought them but I double checked that the washer was level, and it was. I can't get through washing a load of 4 items, same weight without it taking all day, and stopping at the minimum of 4 times. I go and rebalance the clothes and start it again.
I called and it is $79 to come out and look, if nothing is wrong, I lose the money. If they find something I get it back but pay for the parts & labor. Or I can purchase a new warranty for $229 for a year which covers certain items. I can't sell it without feeling guilty but it was not a couple of hundred dollars, I even feel guilty giving it to anybody but I don't even want to deal with it anymore. Friends have washers and Love them! The dryer is fine, no complaints. Trying to figure out if I should choose plan A or plan B... My luck is bad.

My old washing machine broke. I had it for 15 years, never had to fix it. I kept looking at these beautiful washers in the store that would wash the whole bed spread. No more going to the laundromat to wash my bed spread I thought. So I bought the Kenmore elite wondering how it would clean my clothes with no agitator in it. I was told it was new technology. I don't know why I assume the makers knew what they were doing. I hate my washer for so many reasons. It doesn't clean my clothes very good, even a small load. When I put a large load in it, it knots the clothes up so bad I can't hardly get them apart. They are so wrinkled they're almost permanently wrinkled. When I wash a bedspread it gets off balance and stops, so I have to pull the heavy thing out and restart many times until it finally finishes. That might not be so bad if it actually got clean.
My dark cloths keep having a white residue on them and I can only guess that the light cloths do too. My whites are getting more and more dingy and whatever goes in with a spot comes out with a spot. Now I'm looking for an older set like I had before on Craigslist and I don't know what to do with my 2000 dollar waste of money set because how can I sell it in good conscience knowing what a bad washer it is. The dryer I have had no problems with.

After a month the washer was fixed (so we thought). Well it 2014 and guess what? Same problem with load indicator, but now the washer with clothes or no clothes just starts banging on the spin cycle. My daughter gave me her brand new Kenmore Elite Oasis washer and dryer. The appliances were reinstalled by professional tradesman who has installed hundreds of appliances. Right from the beginning the washer did not clean clothes properly. There were clumps of dirt and pints on the clothes, requiring repeated washings. The spin cycle would show unbalanced sign and stop. It did not matter if the clothes were redistributed or some or most taken out, the machine was just hung and it took most of the day to spin one load dry.
I had to wring my clothes by hand on many occasions and put it in the dryer half wet. Not long after it was not spinning, it started to make clucking sounds as if someone was changing gears improperly. Then it started to leak. All over the laundry room. I cleaned all connections, replaced the hose screens, had it balanced etc. It would leak a little, but on second wash it leaked all out again. Called Sears and was told I was on my own as they did not honor any defects and warranty was past. This in my opinion is criminal. Selling defective products and doing nothing to fix the problems. Shame on you Sears! Needless to say I won't be fixing this washer, as I have also been told it is futile to do so.

They are not what they used to be. Think "K-Mart" quality. DO NOT buy appliances from Sears anymore. If you don't pay through the ** for an extended warranty, you are out of luck. The reason they sell them is because they KNOW their stuff is crap and will not stand behind it. Go to an appliance store where they will stand behind their products. RUN from Sears and Kenmore. Time to replace our 16 yr old washer and dryer. So many bad reviews out there... We felt we had to choose the "lesser of the evils" because there was no overall good washer/dryer out there! We found a good deal on the Kenmore Elite top load washer model 31512 and the matching dryer model 61512. I expected problems to arise from all the complaints about electronics and washer stopping.... Been using it for 2 months now and I have to say I am pleasantly surprised! The errors that did occur were normal occurring errors w/ any washer. Got excited about the extra large tub and I loaded it up! (We are a family of 6!) Of course it didn't clean well. (Had to try it anyways! lol!)
The 2 times it shut off was due to imbalance. My old washer would have shut off too. It appears that if you keep opening and shutting the lid while it's filling up it will add more water too. Wanted to keep peeking inside and was alarmed at all the water usage! Then I figured out it was every time I opened the door it would add more water. My FAVORITE is the quick wash cycle!! Not only does the larger tub allow me to do more laundry, but I can pick "Quick cycle" and it'll be done in 35 minutes not an hour!! Whoooo Hoooo!! (Of course real dirty stuff I stay on the normal cycle.) The dryer is great. Because the washer spins the heck out of the clothes, the dryer doesn't take as long to dry. Also, lots of complaints about it "not cleaning"..... I honestly think it may be an overloading issue. You can't stuff it. 3/4 the way up the wall is enough to load it and if you want to add more water, you just push a button. I really do like this so far.
Oh....if you are wanting the dryer rack to go inside the dryer for shoes and sweaters I have battled the giant on this for you... They sent me the wrong rack twice and insisted that it was the right one. I had to send photos to the consumer affairs dept and such to prove the rack they were sending was wrong! Come to find out the warehouse was pulling the incorrect rack because the manufacturer was out of the correct one. One size does not fit all! This has been going on over a month to get the correct rack. Make sure you get rack 3751EL1001B. It is NOT symmetrical like the 3750 version. Hope this helps some of you out there and you are pleased with it like I am. :)

He told me the washers really had a design flaw, plus Sears had sent a part out ahead of time that was totally useless. He ordered a new part, try to do what he could but washer was just as bad with stopping and lucky to even get one load done in a day. He came back after 2 weeks, put the new parts on, first load after he left stopped. I called Sears back and assured me the washer needed struts to prevent being out of balance. Struts came, put on after 2 weeks waiting, put a queen size set of sheets in to wash, it stopped. That load went for over 31 hrs!
I called Sears and told them about the problem, they said a new part was ordered and told to hang in there. Really after 6 weeks and it still not working. I told them it was time to replace and they said no and that my laundry benefit with my warranty was only a courtesy and would only cover up to $25.00 a week up to $100.00 max. They don't acknowledge the fact of my inconvenience, the cost of power and water of a washer running for such extended periods of time, but they are not willing to help anymore than that with laundry expense. When I brought up the fact 6 weeks of laundry for a family of 5 would cost more than $100.00, the very rude " manager on duty" threaten to take the "courtesy" of the table. There definitely needs to be a class action lawsuit against Sears so consumers can get their money back.

My Kenmore Washer is 18 months old. The washing machine has leaked twice. Once because of a manufacturer defect. The second time because a hose came loose. The washing machine is a top loader and does not have an agitator. On small loads I get a UE warning which means out of balance. It gets this code so many times it takes 3 hours to complete the load. They replaced 3 boards and this did not fix the problem. They ordered another part and Sears did not show up at the scheduled time. I had called several times on the scheduled date to verify the appointment and I found I was scheduled but they had failed to assign it to a technician. This meant I really was not on the schedule. The customer service person told me some of their service personnel did not know how to read the screens and did not realize I did not have an appt. I now have been without a machine for two weeks and their management will not call me till Monday, the problem happened on a Friday. I am very frustrated.

I purchased a Kenmore Dryer in June 2012. I put a load of wash in it and it had this very loud grinding noise. I took the top off to see if the belt was broke, but all looks intact. I spun the drum to see if maybe something was lodged in there and it did not make any harsh noise. I never overload the dryer (my son broke one before by doing that. I know the expense). The warranty just expired - go figure.
I called Kenmore to see what I can do and they said they can have someone over that same day. That was very impressive. However, they said it would cost me $97.00 just to have the service man ring my doorbell, and depending on what is wrong with the dryer it could cost almost $500. I only paid $450.00 for it. So, I said no to the service call. I am on a low budget I could not afford that. I put the dryer on lay-a-way for six months that's how low my budget is. I purchased a Kenmore washer and dryer because of the reputation and good products they sell. I've always purchased Kenmore appliances. I am very disappointed in this product and extremely dissatisfied with Kenmore. Is there anyone out there that can help me.

I don't know how it's suppose to save power because it takes so long to do a load and it don't wash the clothes clean either even with a second cycle. Maybe it takes less water but NOT. When I have to wash the clothes two and three times to get them clean. I would not recommend this machine if you have a well. I hate the lid lock. If the power goes out when the machine is going you can't get your clothes out. Twice now I have had to call a repair person to fix the controls after power outages... For 35 years I have purchased Kenmore washers/dryers for 3 households and have been very satisfied. Last week I bought Kenmore model 23102 washer and am very dissatisfied. 1. Warm water is COLD. Cold water is cold as it should be; hot water is hot as it should be. 2. Water fills EXCRUCIATINGLY SLOW. 3. One day after delivery I called for service; was told had to wait 4 days. Why would Sears not prioritize immediate service on a new delivery? So I waited 4 days, then waited 3 hours (taking off work) for technician to come. First he doesn't know where to look on the machine for the serial and model number. Then he finds it and starts to diagnose the washer. He immediately tells me this model WILL NOT FILL ANY FASTER-this is how it is designed, and that the WARM setting is just as it is.
I say my other Kenmore that was just replaced gave WARM water that was warmer than cold and not as hot as hot. He tells me this model does not work that way. Essentially he's saying THERE IS NO WARM WATER TEMPERATURE. He says it works on a thermostat vs. older models mixed cold and hot water. He goes to his truck and comes back with a thermometer of some kind. He tests the "warm" water, then drops it in the water which killed it, so he couldn't actually verify the difference between the temperatures, but BOTTOM LINE HE SAYS THERE IS NOTHING THAT CAN BE DONE TO GET WARM WATER. Then he says this IS the warm setting in Florida, which is nonsense, because WARM on the previous washer and 2 other washers I have access to in friend's homes, give WARM water. I AM VERY UNHAPPY AND CANNOT RECOMMEND THIS MACHINE OR SEARS.

To even get somewhat clean, I have to use the heavy duty setting, plus pre-soak and extra rinse. It seems like there just is not enough water used, and not enough agitation. Then I was soon to notice it doesn't clean clothes properly. The simplest stains don't come out. The main reason for my complaint is that a washer a few years old shouldn't have rust anywhere... It has rusted at the lid and all around bleach dispenser. I contacted Sears and then they give me the phone number to customers solutions. That didn't get me anywhere. I was referred back to Sears. We bought a Kenmore front load washer in 2012. I was so excited and didn't even consider another brand, as Kenmores last forever, right? Sears has always been a company that has sold quality products and built a large company due to repeat customers. I was baffled re the lock button not releasing after the load was done and also the standing water staying after the rinse cycle periodically. This from day one of purchase off and on. I have given my manual a workout in the past two years trying to figure out what I am doing wrong. Because based on being a third generation owner of exclusively Kenmore appliances, a two year old Kenmore washer would never have broken!
A few months ago the standing water issue slowly progressed to the point of not spinning at all when the rinse cycle began. Out came the manual, again and again. Of course, the lock button wouldn't release due to the water level, so I drained it numerous times from the hose in the trap door. This takes over an hour and the hose is so short you have to use small containers and hope you can get one to the sink while holding the hose closed with your thumb. Then the nd error started coming on for a couple of loads and then it wouldn't do anything but hum - I cleaned every hose, snaked the drain, etc. I then called the water company who spent a couple of hours checking out the drains for roots while I tried to save the load of mildewed towels from my last load. They got a kick out of my bleach buckets and even the wheelbarrow filled with laundry :(
After all options were gone I contacted Sears who sent a service tech out today. I spent $202.00 on a new drain pump with an option of buying a year warranty for almost $400.00!!! It would have been more, but I found a 20% off coupon for service calls online. I can't afford the extended warranty and even if I could, a year isn't worth that much. I am so upset, as I know I bought a lemon and am waiting for what is next. Sears, don't break your cycle of standing behind your products. I strongly feel I should be reimbursed. Please contact me.

After 20 yrs with my old Kenmore I just bought a new machine through Sears Can...I deliberately did not buy an HE. I am a weaver and when I finish things I've woven, I need to control the washing process. I did not realize that the lid-lock is continually in effect. Stop the lock and I can't watch the washing process. Then I discover there is no "soak" cycle. (I also run a small guest house and towels frequently need to soak before a wash cycle.) What designer/programmer, in his infinite idiocy, chose to set the default at "empty"?! This is moronic! Fill the machine and get distracted and leave the lid up--it empties. Realize I set the wrong cycle and change the dial--it empties. Close the lid and let it sit--it empties.
Add to this the fact that the towels are NOT coming out clean. I have tried different cycles, more detergent, hotter water. I have washed twice. I have let things soak. (Put the drain hose into the machine, let it drain back into the drum, pull the electrical plug. Let sit. Put hose into clean garbage can, insert electrical plug and now, even if I want to wash, it drains--into the can. Start from beginning and bucket soapy water into drum as it begins to fill. Start wash. For this I paid nearly $700 CAD tax included. I'm putting it on Kijiji as soon as I can find a Speed Queen replacement. And am trying to get my old machine back in service until then. Never again, Kenmore.

I will never, ever again buy such an expensive set and will never, ever again buy anything from Sears. The dryer went out last year (year 7) and had more error codes than I knew what to do with. The cost for a technician to come out and just look is approximately $300 and that cost only includes them coming out - nothing is yet fixed. So, I went on the internet and read that the problem I was having was likely a control board. I called Sears to get a new one (approximately $300) and was told (after I specifically asked) if I could return the board if it turned out not to be the problem. I was told that I could. The board they sent me was reconditioned (RECONDITIONED!) and didn't work either.
I called Sears to get a return part and was told since it came from their overseas supplier, I could not return it. So, I spent a ridiculous amount of money for a simple dryer that doesn't last and then spent more ridiculous amounts of money trying to fix it only to learn that not only does Sears not stand behind their products, but they also don't stand by their return policy. I bought a new dryer through Home Depot -- a holiday sale and military discount provided me with a new dryer for UNDER $300. Now the washer is gone. No error messages, nothing. I've learned not to call a technician and not to order replacement parts from Sears. I'm simply buying a new washer, which will no doubt be much cheaper than trying to fix the joke that Sears put out. One has to unplug it and re-start it over and over. It takes about 4 hours to do a load of laundry when this happens and it happens all too often. I was sitting next to an appliance repairman at a show and told him about my washer and he said the only good washer made today is the Speed Queen. When my Kenmore finally drives me to put a bullet through it, I will find a place that sells Speed Queens and look into them. Does anyone know anything about this washer?? Has there been a recall on the Model 2125?

I was doing a load of laundry when I heard a terrific bam in my laundry room. I went in to see about the loud noises and discovered the front door of the machine open. I felt the clothes and discovered they were soaked and the washer was about 1/8 filled with water. It appeared as if the washer reacted during the spin cycle. Perhaps it did not spin-dry the clothes as it was supposed to. Now I cannot lock the door any longer so therefore the machine cannot function. Has anybody else had this problem? Has there been any recall of my machine for this problem? I would like some feedback.

My Sears Kenmore Elite washer will not get out stains. To be fair the unit is out of warranty but is only a year and a half old. Because of health issues, I didn't start getting clothes dirty until this spring. It will not remove simple stains like dirt and when I started started to smell some clothes, they didn't smell clean coming right out of the machine. For example my socks smelled as bad coming out of the wash as they did going in. I would think it would be unsanitary to wear clothes that are not clean.
When I purchased the the set online in September 2012, they were giving it a 5 star rating. I looked at past models and they only showed 3 stars but this was a new model and I assumed improvements had been made. Looking online today, Consumer Reports gives it a 53 rating out of 100 and others rate it 3.2 out of 10 and even Sears rates it low and the biggest complaint was that it didn't get out stains or get clothes clean in general. I first called the 800 number Customer Service number in the book and the person that I spoke too suggested that I try to purchase an extended warranty then break the machine on purpose and see if they replace it. As bad as this sounds I do think she was trying to help knowing they would not do anything with it being out of warranty. Then I called Sears the first thing that they said is that is was a LG machine, and the second thing was that it was out of warranty and they would do nothing to help me. I then called customer service who said the same until I told them I would cancel my Sears Card.
At that point, I was transferred to Customer Retention who eventually decided to send a technician to my house and some negotiation waved the service charge. I did ask him to speak with the service technician on the phone before he made the appointment because I thought he would be wasting him time after reading all the online information that says it just doesn't clean. The conversation didn't happen and the next morning about 8:45, the service technician called and asked me what was wrong with the washer. I told him it didn't get clothes clean. Then he started to say that I needed special laundry soap and that I shouldn't use fabric softener. Anyhow he declined to come because like me, I thought the machine was working as designed but wouldn't get all clothes clean. He eventually told me thank and added it was because the washer didn't use enough water to clean clothes. I called Sears later and told them what had happened and they would not help me and that case # ** would be closed.
I did at that point close my Sears account. I did call Sears again to get an address to send information from Small Claims Court. I then decided to send an email to LG to see if they might help since it is manufactured by them and it is their design. The very first thing they said was that it was a Kenmore and that it was a Sears. I sent them back a reply asking them several questions including who did the design, hold the pattern, and the drawings. I didn't receive a response. I did call an 800 number and talk to someone who did give me an address so that the court could get them information. So I am looking into taking both companies to Small Claims Court together so that a Judge may decide who should lose $1029 for a product that doesn't clean.

I purchased a Kenmore Elite, Gentle wash-Canyon Capacity-Quiet Pak Oasis HE Energy Star! The first year, it started knocking. Repair came and replaced parts. Repair man said this was a defective model! The same problem occurred the second time, and today the third time! I was suppose to get a replacement washer, but it never happened! Third time repairman came out, he replaced the computer board, said everything was okay! Ten minutes after he left I placed a small load of colored clothes in - during the spin cycle, it started knocking again! Called expressing my dissatisfaction. This will be the fourth time for the same problem! Sears initially was to bring another washer - never did! Sears sold me a defective washer knowingly! Do not buy this dryer. Everything in my house is from Sears. No more I'm done with them. They lost a loyal customer. It's model # 110. After 52 years of great performing Maytag sets, we decided to buy into the HE type washer. The $1400.00 combined price for the Kenmore Elite top-of-the-line set was an immediate disaster (Jan.1911). From day one, both the washer AND the dryer left clothes with a nasty odor. We wiped the washer dry, left washer and dryer doors open when finished, tried bleach, vinegar, baking soda, Tide and Affresh washing machine cleaners to no avail, for (3) years.
Fortunately, we bought the extended warranty for the washer ONLY and after the first year, the clutch went out. Then we had the infamous recall to fix "spinning" problems which resulted in increasing an already unbearable cycle time. Service Calls could not help with the odor situation and we could no longer put up with barely washed and dried smelly laundry and pitched a brand new beautiful looking washer and dryer set out the door. Replaced with a wonderful Speed Queen, American-made set.

We did have an issue with mold, but we bought the special cleaning tabs and kept the door open when not in use. Well, the dryer started going first... not drying well. I would run the dryer 3 times to dry one load. Then the washer went. Door lock would hold laundry hostage... cycles stopping. I purchased this washer years ago. From day one it vibrates heavily while spinning. At lease 2-3 times a year it had to be re-balanced. The machine was installed in a second floor (house) and after years of use, the floor around it is being affected by its strong vibrations. Every year I had to pay out of pocket to maintain the maintenance agreement.
This year, after paying 200+ for the agreement, when I called for them to come and balance the machine, they deny the service. I feel cheated, and totally taken by Sears for selling a product and installing it on a second floor, when they knew it was not a good place to put it. I also feel it is unfair that no one warned us about the heavy vibrations the machine does in the spinning mode. Second, I feel cheated by them selling me the service contract by phone and not specifying that it did not cover balancing the machine anymore when they had do so for all the previous years.
When I tried to talk to someone in their department, they would not give me any information as to where or who should I contact to complain about the machine. I came about this website on my own and decided to write my experience with Sears and with Kenmore. If anyone knows where I could bring this issue to light, I would appreciate it. I am sure many other customers have had similar experiences with their He3 Elite Washer Machines. Many newer homes do have the laundry room in the upstairs.

I purchased a Kenmore Elite top load washer in 12/2011. In roughly 12-13 months, the area around the bleach dispenser started to show signs of rust/corrosion. I contacted the Sears customer solutions group and they arranged a service call, which I paid for, to assess and confirm that there truly is rust/corrosion around the dispenser! I was quoted almost $300 for the repair, however the technician stated that there was a Service Flash for this very issue which apparently warrants a notification and how to handle it. This service flash SF26-813 clearly states as a repair as having a redesigned cover and dispenser along with having the cover "completely painted".
This obviously was a manufacturing defect that, when I started addressing with Sears, turned into a hot potato hand-off, from one department to another, without any sign of helping resolve the issue. They even sent me to LG, the manufacturer, to try to have them do something for me, instead of them bringing the issue to LG as their vendor and expecting resolution and seeking reparations. I finally was given a case number that was essentially useless since there is no direct contact person to work with, which in effect results in multiple "solutions group" people passing on emails trains without any point of contact. I even asked for direct contact and provided my phone number through every email...but still no call.
This is the ultimate shell game with consumers...create a "customer solutions" group to help you...but don't actually have this group do anything to foster customer solutions. I was however offered $65 for part of the original service call. I even asked if "they" even interact with their vendors... in this case LG, to force them to own up to poor engineering and design, to help rebuild credibility and demonstrate responsibility for their products. I am Sear's customer not LG's, and as such Sears should have an obligation to me. They in turn need to hold LG accountable for their inferior manufacturing design. Whatever happened to taking care of the customer? Sadly...this is a bygone saying.

We called Kenmore appliance repair, and they replaced the washing machine with another identical Kenmore machine. Now after two weeks, the lid lock has begun flashing again for no apparent reason. I was able to make the machine work by unplugging it which then allowed the machine to start a new cycle. I spoke to the manager at Sears store, and he said this might be caused by a recent power outage. But I am concerned that this will happen again, and that as with the first machine, the washer will not work. We are still probably under warranty. But I don't want to wait too long. Hundreds of people have gone online to complain about oil spots on clothes from Kenmore Elite washers. Their "strategy" is to deny the problem as their path of damage control. Owners are told it's fabric softener, the wrong soap, their water softener, overloading. They know this is bull. They have made a conscious decision to buffalo the public by acting like this is always a surprise at every service call. Hey Sears! Pick up a few offending machines and troubleshoot them until you find the offending part(s). You replace a part at a time until the spots are gone...duh! This absolutely needs to be a class action suit.
Don't tell me Sears isn't playing dumb. Anyone can get on the Internet and read hundreds of complaints. And you will see these posts followed up by carefully scripted responses from Sears Service Dept. This is a skillfully choreographed response to stonewall owners of these washers. Even their own service technicians say Sears won't even tell them anything until a recall is announced. Until then, the word is out, "Everybody play dumb while we decide what to do." Don't sit home day after day waiting for repairmen to tell you it's your detergent, your water softener, your fabric softener. Their own technicians tell me, anonymously, that the overdone technology washes clothes with too little water.
Owners are being told to use as little as a tablespoon of HE detergent. Then you're left with too little water + too little detergent = clothes that don't get washed. If you haven't gotten the drift of this post yet, I'll spell it out. This is a design and engineering problem. Unless you plan to redesign how your Kenmore Elite washes clothes, you aren't going to fix this problem. My washer and dryer combo is going back to Sears. When they finally showed up, the technician put a new latch assembly in and it too immediately failed. He said the controller was sending a continuous latch signal which destroys the latch and that I would need a new controller and latch. We had purchased an extended warranty for $319.00 which would cover up to $500.00 in repairs but the price he quoted went beyond that by $287.00.
I saw no other choice so I authorized the repair. After the technician left, I looked on the Sears parts website to compare the part prices he had quoted us and found that the repair guy's price was double the price Sears quoted. I called the technician to ask him why and he said he had no control over pricing and that I would have to complain to Sears. Light-colored items routinely come out of the washer with dark streaks; dark clothes are left with pale blotches (laundry detergent?). Lastly, the washer manages to tear small holes into items. Bought the Kenmore Oasis Washing Machine, 110.270 and just like thousands of others on this board, my machine started showing an F1 error code. It also started shaking the house and sounded like a rocket taking off during the spin cycle. Just google "Whirlpool bearing" or "Kenmore bearing" and you'll see many more issues just like mine. Turns out, Kenmore/Sears is doing a "quiet recall" of the control board. They'll send a tech out to replace your control board. This procedure takes no more than 15 minutes to complete and the average homeowner could do it themselves in minutes. HOWEVER...
What is not under "quiet recall" is the loud and unbearable rocket sound during the spin cycle. That fix will require that your bearings be replaced on your unit. Is the bearing failure caused by the bad control board? I'm not an engineer so I don't know but if I read the 1000's of posts, you rarely see one without the other. So this is where the story gets interesting. According to Sears, Whirlpool offers a 10-year warranty on the Whirlpool tub of the washing machine. The Whirlpool tub hereto now includes the bearings and shaft. Well, guess what? Whirlpool started fielding so many complaints that they made a kit (separate from the tub) that allows technicians to replace the bearings separate from the tub. Guess what? That bearing kit is not covered by the 10-year warranty because it's now considered separate from the tub.
It will now cost the homeowner $160-180 for the bearing kit and approximately $150-$200 for the service. That equates to roughly $350++ to repair a part that is clearly a manufacturer defect. This defect is so popular that appliance shops have created videos on how to fix the machine yourself. There are many posts about the poor quality of the Whirlpool Cabrio and Kenmore Oasis washing machines - related to the bearing failure and the control board issues. I have lost complete confidence in both of these brands for how they have handled the issue. I will do my best to never purchase either brand in the future.

I have owned my Kenmore Elite Oasis for four and one half years. The only reason why I had to purchase a new washer was because I lost my old one (a Maytag) when my basement flooded. I thought that purchasing a Kenmore would be a good idea. My parents always purchased Kenmores and never had problems. Boy, was I wrong! After the first year, my troubles began. I have had the bearing replaced 4 times, as well as the computer board and suspension rods. Thank goodness I purchase a master agreement plan each year, since all this had been covered.
The icing in the cake happened 2 weeks ago, when again I was getting the UL code. The first repairman came out and replaced the rods and made some other adjustments. He leaves and I start a load, then get the F51 code! I angrily call back and of course had to make another appointment. I was told all they had to do was reset the computer. Repairman 2 comes out and tells me it is more than the computer, it is the bearing. So there goes week 2 with no washer, and another trip to the laundromat. I was then told that my machine qualifies for the lemon clause, and Sears would email me a replacement cost. They quoted me $830, so I just went out and bought a LG machine. I'm done with Kenmore brands, they are junks. For all the money and service calls Sears has had to pay on this machine, they could have bought me four washers! It has been three aggravating years owning this machine, and I would not recommend an Oasis to anyone.

I bought a new Kenmore Elite washer and dryer from Sears back in Feb. 2013 and have had nothing but trouble with it. Within the first two weeks, the dryer blew up and Sears had to bring a new one out. The service men entered my home illegally, and they had a bad attitude. They tore my floor up in my laundry room, then lied and said that it was already like that. The owner of the store came out and thought that he was just going to cut a little piece of linoleum and patch it together but I wouldn't let him. He also had such a bad attitude that I asked him to get out. The washer cannot be leveled and vibrates and jumps around. They said that my floor was weak, but little do they know that there is an extra beam and support in the laundry room area. They are complete liars and scam artists. My last washer, one that I didn't purchase from Sears, nor was it Kenmore Elite, never had a level problem.
Now, the service guy came out AGAIN because the control panel on the dryer started malfunctioning. This is all within 5 1/2 months of purchase. So what happens when my warranty runs out? I guess they think that I'm just another animal that they're gonna leech from but it's not gonna happen! I called Sears corporate and asked for a refund and they laughed and refused. I told them that I was going to file Lemon Law suit against them but they don't care. Their insurance will pay for it.
We bought Kenmore Elite (over $2000.00) because we wanted something that would last us for years. LOL. Looks like we made a big mistake. We have no confidence in Kenmore anymore. We're not rich and cannot run out and buy another washer and dryer, so we're pretty much screwed. How could two different companies (Sears, Kenmore) do people this way and get away with it? We will NEVER buy anything from Sears or Kenmore again, and I will start a Facebook campaign against them and warn other people about this cheap junk, and about the rude people at Sears. This is so frustrating!

We purchased Kenmore microwave and front load washer from Sears Canada 4 years ago for our new home. The microwave broke down and had to be replaced as service technician suggested it was too expensive to fix but was a better choice to replace. Our front load washer is vibrating and walking. It is darn near impossible to get someone to repair it as the Sears toll-free service operators tell me they no longer service in our area unless it is under warranty. We have a Sears appliance store in our city. We are in the process of building a new home. Having to repair or replace 2 Kenmore appliances in 4 years tells us something about Sears appliances. Will we be buying again from Sears? Absolutely not.

I purchased a Kenmore Oasis Elite in May 2006. We have no children at home, just two retired people. Within a year the hinges on the lid had to be replaced. Rust has been developing. Recently, the tub would hit against the frame when spinning. The repairman replaced the computer board, still didn't work. Another visit and he replaced the pump, still didn't work. Company replaced the steal tub (drum), still didn't work. The repairman stated that it probably would not last more than a year because the struts needed replaced. No surprise, one load of wash and the banging of the tub continued.
Spoke with a Sears representative today. He stated that many people were very happy with the machine and it has lasted without any problems and I must have gotten a "bad" machine. I told him that if I got a "lemon" they should replace it. He said it was no longer under warranty and nothing could be done. Please never buy any Kenmore appliances from Sears.

Bought a Kenmore Elite Oasis washer, model 110.27092602 about five years ago. I've had numerous repairs from the beginning. The control board was recalled and that was replaced because it kept giving error codes. Then the interface board had to be replaced. There were several other repairs that I can't recall and it NEVER washed clothes clean. I put something in with some dirt on it and it comes out with the dirt on it. Some parts of clothing aren't even WET so how can they get washed???
But the machine does an excellent job and tangling them up and tearing them. Clothes get so tangled and wrinkled I can't get them apart! At 5 yrs of age the drum insulation went and Sears informed me that parts are no longer made. For a 5 yr old machine? My husband had to take it apart and rig up some housing insulation to stop it from banging. We are using it, but our clothes remain dirty and tangled. We just can't afford to buy another!
The Elite Oasis electric dryer sometimes dries, sometimes doesn't. It will sometimes dry for hours, never signaling that it's done. Other times it signals it's done when clothes are wet, so the sensors are all off. It was always that way. I just didn't want to pay for it to be repaired. These machines were VERY EXPENSIVE and are complete garbage. Sears refused to take them back from day one. The only thing they would offer was 10% off on a new one. Who would want a new one of these? I've been tempted to replace them with free machines people offer on CL when they are foolish enough to buy new machines and get rid of their old agitator washers.

On 2/19/2010, I purchased the Kenmore Elite Washer Model # 796.4102. I also have the Kenmore Elite Dryer Model # 796.8102. Both units have provided nothing besides headaches, damage to our clothing and frustration. I will never do business with Sears again (rumor has it you are going out of business anyway).
First of all, my motor went out on my washer that has a 10-year warranty. Sears would not stand behind their parts warranty since I did not have the A&E guy come out and service it and pay him $75! It cost me for labor $114.50 and $147.00 respectively just for labor to fix the defective motor of your product. For the parts, it cost me $69.55 & $55.90 respectively. This was for the Stator Assembly and for the new wash machine motor. I have receipts for all of the OEM parts and service work that was completed by Tolson Appliance Center Inc. 540-347-3030. Jim did the work. Nice guy.
The motor on the washer burnt out. The washer also leaks water when you wash towels and has a defective design flaw in how it vents the water in the back. My pan fills up and drains water on a regular basis. The unit is at fault and I'm out of pocket now (not to mention the time and frustration) to fix just the washer - $386.95. The cost of the washer was $1127.99! This does not include setup, delivery etc., charges...
We also purchased on the same date as the washer the Kenmore Elite dryer (dryer cost = $1057.49) model # 796.8102 (Electric). It's under four years old and nothing but problems, frustration and damage. In 2011, we had Sears come out and "allegedly" fix the removable lint dryer for $129.00 on Friday, October 14, 2011. Then we called and complained about the design flaw with the lint dryer filter (the removable slat that has the screen where each time you remove it to clean off the lint) a.k.a. lint trap. The customer service people said it was warped and sent us a new one. The same exact issue happened again in under 3 months. My Nike sweat pants are damaged ($60 bucks). All of my wife's camis are damaged; our 900+ thread count sheets from Italy are damaged. The dryer lint is a serious design flaw that is causing serious damage to our clothing and we are very upset. I have pictures and receipts of everything, all of the parts and labor service work and all of the damage to our clothing.
Now, last week, the dryer stopped working. We had an A&E guy come out who said the motor in the dryer is fried and that to fix everything it's going to cost us (with the new control board) over $500! This is crazy; not even four years old and both units are ready to be hauled to the curb and are causing damage to our home (leaking washer) and to our clothing, dryer - lint trap design flaw. Now I don't have a dryer that works and spent almost $400 to fix the washer and now you, Sears (A&E), want me to fork over $500 to fix the washer that is not even 4 years old! I don't think so; this has to stop! I'm done doing business with SEARS and will not spend one more penny with SEARS Holding.
Stand behind your products. Replace my dryer with one that does not have the design flaw with the lint trap, refund my cost to fix the washer (parts & labor) and replace my washer with a washer that does not leak. Does Sears sell appliances to fall apart in a few years and ** customers with repair, parts and service work? This is completely unethical. Why would someone design a dryer with the steam option that vents directly into the electrical controller board to make the board electronics damp and crap out? Why would a white box appliance that should have a minimum design life of at least 10 years be crapping out in under four? Why would Sears sell a washer that constantly leaks water and pose potential damage to home owners, their home and dryers and damage clothing?
If you want to follow up with me on this, you call me. I'm not waiting on hold for hours for someone to send me a $50 gift card!

I bought a Kenmore Elite in 2011. Within 3 months, a board went bad and it kept saying SUD - no biggie; it was under warranty. Now, it's 2 years and 2 months old. I called Sears for another problem. The drum has gone bad and needs replacing; the drum and other parts are warrantied but the $665 in labor is not. Really??? Do you think they would think about giving you a labor price that is higher than most new washers in their store? Do they expect people to logically agree to these labor prices instead of buying a new washer? This front loading washer with all the bells and whistles was on sale and did not even cost that much to buy!!!
I have never had an issue with a washer or dryer. Growing up, we had one for 15 years with no problems. Luckily, I found out my home warranty will pick up the costs but this is a per occurrence thing so if it breaks again, I have no backup to pay for it. What a piece of junk - 2 years old and all these problems. If I have any more problems, I am going out to buy a new non-Sears product washer since it will be cheaper than fixing this junker which will probably have another problem in the next two years. Do not buy Kenmore!!!!! You are wasting your money and it will waste your time constantly having to get it repaired. I'm SO Sorry that Sears has gone so downhill and that their service is horrible.

We purchased a Kenmore "Elite" front load washer and dryer in 2011. In the same year that the one-year warranty expired, the washer quit working. The Sears repairman informed us that the motherboard on the washer was bad. The cost to replace was just under $1,000 and it was not covered by warranty. A washer that costs $2,000 should last much longer than a year. The laws in most states impose a warranty of merchantability on sellers and manufacturers. If a seller puts an item on the market, it is required by law to make sure that the product is fit for its stated purpose.
Now less than 10 months later, the brand new motherboard has failed again. I spoke with both the Sears and the Kenmore service representatives, who were polite. However, they were unable to offer anything satisfactory. Both offered a $320, 1-year warranty that covers repairs up to $500. Anything over $500 comes out of my pocket. Basically, a $180 benefit which is not a real benefit. I will probably sue Sears and Kenmore for the defective product to recover the purchase and repair expense. This has nothing to with their stated warranty, which is contract law. I definitely will not buy anything else from Sears or Kenmore until they improve their products and repair policy. I have seen many other similar complaints about this washer. It should have been recalled.

But after finding my clothes were not getting clean, they were smelling mildewed, and it finally broke altogether, I scheduled numerous repair appointments with Sears. Each time I found that my machine was broken again shortly thereafter. (By the way, Sears Service is another sad story, and I think once you purchase a repair and maintenance plan, you are last on their schedule.) After, much complaining and saying I was filing an action under the "lemon law," they agreed to credit me the amount of purchase for a new washer.
I bought the Kenmore HE4t with this credit in 2005. I have been able to reset some error messages, but today it just stopped working. Maybe I shouldn't be upset as I have gotten 8 years of service from it, but what upset me was, once again, that there was a recall for my Kenmore machine, and the problem I am having is a common one, with many complaints: it is not registering the door lock (F/dL). I purchased the Kenmore front load washer, model 4031, in January 2010. Exactly one year and one month later, we were noticing the noise coming from it was like a helicopter flying over our house. Considering it is in the basement, that's loud! We had a serviceman come and check it out. He said the bearing was shot and it would have to have a new drum, etc., to the tune of around $700+. It also puts a nice groove in the see-through door material due to the banging around, I guess. Plus I found a seal of some sort in my wet clothes - looked as if it had been cut into. Well then we had to get an anti-hammer device as when it would fill with water, it caused the pipes to about vibrate out of their brackets (Sears says this is a common problem).
So to top everything else off, water now runs out the front onto the floor when I wash. My husband is retired. We bought this $1,800 set thinking we would be good for quite a few years and not just a couple. We are very upset with Sears. I went to them right away when all this started. Kenmore Elite Washing Machine - We received the recall notice, and even though we have experienced no issues with our washing machine since we purchased it several years ago, my husband called to schedule the service because it was a safety recall. The technician came out on February 8th and slowed the speed of the spin cycle on the bulky items selection. The first time I washed clothes after that, I had multiple UE (unbalanced error) and it actually took one cycle 2 hours and 45 minutes before I could finally get the clothes clean and rinsed somewhat, and then spun out and into the dryer. I tried several other cycles, selecting different spin speeds, and never could wash a load without standing around redistributing the clothes in the tub. My husband called again and they sent a different technician on February 18th, who ran diagnostics and said the tests showed nothing was wrong. He advised me on how to wash clothes - two of each item, large loads, etc. - and said there appeared to be nothing wrong after he ran a partial cycle with no clothes in the washer. He instructed me to let it finish and then he closed the ticket.
Today, once again, all my weekly loads had UE multiple times during the cycles. My husband called Sears again and it will be two more weeks - now it will be March - before they can send another technician. The lady offered him a discount on a new washing machine if he wanted to replace this one! Needless to say, my advice is don't call and have the "reprogramming" done if you haven't experienced the issues described in the recall notice.

I bought the Sears Kenmore Elite top-loading, high-efficiency washing machine (manufactured by LG) in May 2011 for close to $1,000. At first, it was fine. A few weeks ago (January 2013), it started overflowing every time it fills. I watched the numbers on the control board go wonky instead of counting down the minutes sequentially. It overflows on the wash cycle, won't drain unless I stop the cycle, and manually select drain/spin, then it drains perfectly. I recognize a wacky computer when I see one, so I unplugged it thinking it might reset itself. Problem keeps happening. I researched it on the internet and saw that there is defective casing material used in the manufacture and the motherboard gets wet!
I called Sears expecting the company I knew from all these years to be there. But all I get is cryptic, non-answers to direct questions and pressure to purchase a service agreement. I've been unemployed for a few months and I don't have $230 to put into a $1,000 machine that I just bought! Oh, and by the way, if the repair costs more than $500, your service agreement doesn't cover the additional cost. You get to take care of that out of your own pocket. I wanted Sears to come fix the problem caused by faulty manufacture or at least give me a straight answer about what the likely cause of the problem is and how much it would take to fix it. It doesn't matter who it is, whoever you're talking to doesn't have the information you need. You get transferred or disconnected. Whoever you're transferred to doesn't have the information you need either and can't imagine why the first person transferred you to them. I don't believe a corporation would permit such incompetence if it didn't pay off.
So I did some more research and found out on Consumer Reports that my unit was covered by a recall. I called Sears back and asked them, "Why are you trying to sell me a service agreement for a unit that is covered by a recall?" explaining again how the machine was flooding my laundry room. They said, "Oh, that's totally unacceptable," says the agent. "Let me transfer you to the Product Resolution department." The Product Resolution guy puts me on hold to look into it for several minutes. (If I ever hear a Sears customer service person say they're going to look into it again, I'll start getting suspicious!) The Product Resolution guy says "Yes, you are under recall. We'll set up a recall appointment for the same time you had the service call, and we'll cancel your service agreement and refund your money within 4 days." (This is less than an hour after I had caved on the service agreement upsell.)
Mind you, this appointment is 10 days in the future, the best they can do. Their technicians are very busy and they won't tell you what time of day, or give you a number to contact the technician, or any information that would empower you to have control of your day. Sometime between 8am and 5pm, so in the interim, I got a job and they would like me to start the day before this appointment. Now, I have to delay my start date so that I won't have to deal with personal business the first week of my new job. Already Sears has cost me $375 in lost wages. So, today is the day. The technician gets here to fix my washing machine under recall. It turns out that the recall is a software update that the technician says will not address the overflowing problem. I got Sears on the phone while the technician is still here, more runaround, more transferring, more looking into it, an offer of $65 off a repair call for which they won't estimate a total cost. (And I don't believe this is not the first time they've had this conversation; a helpful person would say something like, at worst it's this, at best it's that.)
Finally, I talked to a supervisor, went through the whole story again, and I asked her what she would advise if I were her mother. She told me this isn't personal with me. Sears can't provide you any more services because the machine is no longer under warranty. I replied with "Sears can, but it won't. Sears knows there's an issue with this machine, and it's happy to have its brand associated with it when you're charging $1,000 but you don't want to stand behind it when there's a problem. A new washing machine doesn't act like this and I can see other people on the internet have had the same problem." I believe their new business model is to hold customers hostage to an outrageous initial investment on products with known defects and then gouge them for repairs. If it already costs a lot, why not pay a little more? The whole customer service process is set up to make it so painful that you just cave in. It's immoral, and if it isn't illegal, it ought to be. If there's a class action suit, I want to be part of it.

I have spent so much money on repairs, and I simply want to put it on the sidewalk with a warning sign for anyone who will take it. It began less than a year after I purchased it. First, it was the F1 code. It turns out that the control board was faulty. They paid for a portion of it, but I got stuck with the rest and the labor. Then, the dryer began acting up. It only dries the clothes on Timed Dry, and it usually takes 70 minutes to dry a load. Do you know how much power that uses? The washer has since been repaired two more times. The tub had to be replaced within the first 3 years. Now, I am getting the DL code, which means the door will not latch. There is nothing blocking this from happening.
I just wish Sears would honor their products and care about their customers. I also wish Kenmore would stand behind their products. When I told the repairman that washers are supposed to last longer than a decade and he said, "Not anymore.” They make them like this so they can break down, and the company can make more money. I purchased a Kenmore Elite top load washing machine. Luckily, I did purchase the warranty at that time. Shortly after the purchase, the control board went out and needed to be replaced. If I hadn't had the warranty, it would have cost me which is seriously ridiculous, that a new washer should only last a few weeks. The machine continued to have this error code to come up. We would turn it off and restart it. It would work for a little while, then the code would appear again. I finally ordered another control board in December 2011. This one worked for a month or so, then it again started having the error again. The Washer at this time continues to get an error code, although now it will not go into the spin mode no matter how many times we turn it off and on, or unplug it.
This has been a learning experience for me. This washer has been the worst major purchase I have ever made. I will not buy another Kenmore product. It's sad, because I thought they were a good name. I actually had purchased the washer, dryer, and the refrigerator at the same time. I haven't had a problem with my dryer but had a major water problem with the water line to the refrigerator. I had to replace the water line twice to the refrigerator. It had leaked and flooded through the floor to the ceiling below.
Needless to say, I haven't been back to Sears in a a number of years, other than to buy the filters for my refrigerator. At this point, I cannot wait for them to get back to me regarding this stupid washing machine. We had over $1000 extra on the water bill and called the specialist from DWP who had discovered this tremendous leak. I called Sears on the 4th of Jan. and they gave me emergency appointments on the 10th while I have a fountain of water gushing out. Sears rep advised not to touch (or fix) it before their technician gets here. Also, they advised me to seek reimbursement from my homeowner's insurance (that does not cover damage caused by leaking plumbing) from the home warranty company (Fidelity) that does not want to deal with it either.
The actual washing machine (Kenmore Elite) does not function as promised either. It fills out to the top while washing one pair of pants!. On Jan. 7th, I managed to get a Sears technician at my house. He rudely informed me that he couldn't help me as it was a plumbing issue and machine was plumbed in incorrectly (it was delivered, installed and plumbed in by Sears) and I needed to call my plumber. Until then he would not address the washer's technical issues. Sears supervisor, Larry, advised me on the phone not to use an outside plumber as the adjuster from Sears, Carly, will contact me and when she sends the inspector, he will evaluate the situation.
The time frame for this action is unknown. Meanwhile I am losing 100s of gallons of water in the drought state of CA and 100s of dollars as well. I also can't use the Kenmore Elite machine that costs $900 plus over $1000 in water bill due to incorrect installation by Sears and the bill keeps going up along with wasted water. I need reimbursement for expenses and a new washer properly installed (a simpler cheaper model is okay).
Today, Jan. 10th, 2013, I had called the outside plumber to fix the leak as I was losing too much water and the plumber fixed the incorrect installation by Sears and stopped the leak. Sears Technician came to check out the machine, a Kenmore Elite (model #79631512210) that has water settings on Hot, Warm, Eco Warm, Cold, Top Cold. On all of these settings, the water in the machine remains cold, not due to the incorrect connection (it has been corrected by my plumber), but due to the computer board internal setting that regulates how machine would be filled.
On Hot setting, it takes about 2 cups of hot water from the Hot hose and follows up with 2-3 gallons of cold water from the Cold hose. As a result, the washing water is cold on the Hot setting! Technician explained to me that in this high efficiency machine, it is normal as it is trying to save my gas-heated water. He said it runs normal and he spent about 5 minutes in my house. The machine could not be normal as it has same cold water temperature on 5 different temperature settings indicated on the panel of this Kenmore machine.
I need Sears/Kenmore to change this machine to another one that works as stated on description and instructions. I have no help or response from Sears so far, despite their promise to stand by their promise of quality of product and service.

We purchased a Kenmore Elite HE4T front load washer in the Fall of 2005. For the first three years, the Sears service tech repaired the code problem by replacing door lock twice. They replaced the computer once. After expiration of warranty, I had the same problem (F11 door lock failure) and had the service tech replace 2 door locks and 2 computers - on my dime. Just this week, I have the same code problem. I found out if I turned off the washer and waited one hour and restarted the wash, it worked as advertised. I am angry that I cannot receive any help from Kenmore or Sears without paying for service. Kenmore should be responsible in repairing this chronic problem.

The drum bearing of my 8-year old Kenmore washer with matching dryer went out. The cost of the part is $2. Service man quoted $972 to fix. What is Sears thinking? Plain obsolescence! Kenmore is not manufactured to have the bearing replaced. You have to buy the complete drum and spin basket. Ridiculous. It's built to fail in a Frigidaire plant. Dryer is designed to fit only another Kenmore product. So, I also have to buy a new dryer. Needless to say, it will not be Kenmore and it will not be purchased at Sears. I will buy a Meile washer and dryer and never buy from Sears again. No wonder they are failing. I would prefer to support local businesses, but until they realize consumers are tired of paying high prices for Chinese garbage, smart consumers will seek superior quality in brands made in Europe.

My Kenmore Calypso washing machine has been leaking water and I have been told there was a recall. I had placed my name on the recall but the only thing the technician did was come out and reset the programming, they did not do anything with the Calypso cycle itself. How can I get this issue resolved?

This is my second Kenmore washer (mod. 110). After five years with the first one, it started wrapping clothes around the agitator and tearing them. So we bought another one (mod. 110). After five months, it is doing the same thing.

We were given advice by the local sales agent to purchase this top of the line appliance (Kenmore 800 top loading washer) as it was reliable and one of the very few to require frequent repair. As a long and faithful consumer, we expected the appliance to be of solid construction and give us the type of service we came to associate with the Kenmore reliability. Alas, what a downfall. The product has turned into a constant expense in repairing the never-ending problems. As of this day, I have become wary of any product sold by Sears and Kmart due to our problem. We are retired, living on a fixed income, and cannot afford the extra expense we have burdened by the misrepresentation of the sales agent. Therefore, we may just start shopping elsewhere for any further purchases. I am saddened by the disappointing drop of quality in any of the Sears and/or Kmart consumer products.

I purchased a Kenmore Elite HE3 washer and pedestal in 2004 from Sears. I always dried off the area around the rubber seal, did an occasional bleach wash, hot water wash and sometimes added vinegar to keep the moisture down. I always left the door open after use and I used a maximum of 3 tablespoon of HE detergent. In 2007, I sent a letter to the customer service department explaining that mold had formed inside the rubber door seal and nothing seemed to help. I listed all the things I did and said that I was frustrated that I spent $1,000 and in three years, I was having problems. They responded with a long list of what to do for odor problems, all of which I was doing already.
Forward 5 more years and the mold seems to be getting worse despite rubbing down the interior rubber seal with Clorox sheets and drying out the area. I am concerned that I am getting sick from the mold smell. I finally went out and bought a top load washer from a reputable manufacturer. Why should we have to pay such a steep price for a design flaw? Why don't the salespeople warn us about the common mold issue? And why is this happening without repercussions to the company? I would like financial compensation for all of this.

Every single time I do a load of laundry with the Kenmore Elite washer, it turns into a large twisted ball of knots. It's destroying my clothes. The sleeves knot and twist and draw stings make it worse; also, bras and socks and lingerie bags all twist and pull. I set the spin to low every time. It makes absolutely no difference. And because everything is one big knot on one side of the basin, it of course goes off balance and smashes around. The matching Elite dryer is no match for what its partner does - it can't get these wrinkles out no matter what the setting. Also, if I use the bleach cup, it bleaches for loads afterward. It's not safe to do a dark or colored load after a white load. It was purchased in July 2010. These machines were brand new (I was told), top load and HE. I hate it. It's been ruining my family's clothes since the first load. Also, I must use the extra rinse button, which is not very energy saving, or the clothes smell and don't get clean.

I purchased this expensive set (Kenmore Elite Oasis HE washer) from Sears in 2006. We have had it repaired once and now during the spin cycle, all it does is throw an error code and spins like it's off balance and will not complete the cycle. We have checked everything there is to check and seems as everyone out here who have this washer is having the same/similar problem. Don’t you think Sears/Kenmore need to stand behind their product and put a recall out so that we consumers don’t have to purchase a new one or spend $300.00 to get it repaired if they can even diagnose the problem? Kenmore, you suck! I will never purchase anything else ever with your name on it!

I have owned this Kenmore Elite Oasis HE washing machine for 6 years and we had a recall on the machine 3 years ago - after years of the machine stopping because of "UL" unbalanced load. With this recall, they replaced the computer memory board. However, my machine is doing the same thing again. Sears has sent a repairman that would not even open the lid on the machine to see the problem. He ran a diagnostic test on the machine and said that he had no idea what the problem was. I called Sears repair and they assured me they would repair my machine. However, when the next repairman was on his way to my house, he also had no idea what the problem was with my machine. When I explained the situation, he had no direction on how to repair my machine. Is anyone else having the same problem? I do realize that I have purchased my last Kenmore product and anything from Sears!

Kenmore Washer Model 26882 is the worst washer ever. I purchased it in July '06 for our mother. First call was back in August '06, they replaced basket drive; (Oops) quality control missed one. Next call back was on 11/5/11; the wire fell off on the underside of machine. It was never crimped in place properly. (Oops) Quality control missed another one. Next call back on 6/2/12, the drive motor was shot; they replaced the whole machine; (Oops) no quality control working when this machine was assembled. We replaced your ** washer with a Speed Queen. We will never ever buy a Kenmore again. They have no clue as to what they are doing. Once again, it's the worst washer ever (my mom should have kept her old 1900's wringer washer that never failed).

We have purchased the Kenmore Elite in July 2011 at Sears. First, the clothes were washed okay. Then I started to notice that the clothes do not look clean and doesn't smell fresh. I decided to rinse them with my hands before putting them into a dryer. The results were astonishing! The water is dirty, soupy and brownish in color. I have to rinse clothes three to four times until the water gets clean. My elbows and shoulders started to ache.

In June 2010, I purchased a Kenmore front load washer and dryer, model #4027-2900. I understand they were made by LG. I have had nothing but trouble with this washing machine. About six months after I had the washing machine, the rinse water would not spin out and the repairman came out and changed a computer part. Then, I started getting brown streaks all over my clothes. They told me to clean the machine and I told them I did. They have been out several times and cannot give me an answer why this keeps happening. The last man told me to go to the store and get washer cleaner and keep putting it through the cycle until the machine is fully clean. I clean the machine several times a month. I do not get brown streaks on my clothes every wash.
I have had Kenmore washers and dryers all my life and I have never had the problems with Kenmore like I have on this machine. The washer and dryer were $850 a piece. I have always bought Sears appliances but I will never buy another Kenmore appliance. This machine has ruined many of my clothes. If you don't catch the stains when the wash is done and you put them in the dryer, the stains are set. I had to throw away many of mine and my husband's clothes. I keep the door open and drain the water from the bottom. I wipe the ring down every time I use the machine. I clean the machine at least twice a month. No matter what I do, the stains still get on my clothes. The repairman said try and only fill the machine half full. I have done all these things and I still get the brown stains. Why get a maintenance agreement when they can't solve my problem?

I have had bad experiences with Whirlpool washers in the past. Less than five years ago, we decided to purchase a new washer since our two-year old Whirlpool washer was giving us endless problems. We purchased a Kenmore Elite from Sears. We did not know that our washer was actually a Whirlpool washer. We have started with the same problems with this washer as we did with our Whirlpool washer. I just learned that our machine was actually manufactured by Whirlpool. I was told by Kenmore that other Kenmore Elite washing machines were recalled with the same problem, but does not include my model.
I was transferred to so many different places, including Maytag (why Maytag?) to try to resolve my problem. If my machine is having the same problem as those other models that were recalled, there is a great chance that mine should be included in the recall. I never got to speak to the right department. The repair is costing me half of what I would have to pay for a new one. Now, I don't know where to go to get a reliable washing machine. I thought that paying a descent amount was going to give me a descent working machine. I believe that disclosing the manufacturer on appliances should be required because not everything that shines is gold. A reliable brand on the outside is not always what you get on the inside!

I bought this Kenmore 800 series washer in December 2009. I have had repairmen here 3 times. The parts are made in Mexico and they are cheap plastic. Someone needs to do a printout of all these complaints and send them to their congressman to present to Consumer Affairs (Mr. Cordray) in Washington. It's bad enough that most of our manufacturing is outsourced to foreign countries, and it is time that someone starts demanding quality control. These CEO's make millions and it’s time to demand that we, the consumer, get a better quality product.
