My Kenmore fridge freezes up because of a part on the drain hose that needs to be cut to let the water go to the drain pan. On My Sears Community sears says to replace with a revised part. The part is a duckbill & they have a new & improved one to correct the problem Part # W10309238. Sears or Kenmore should repair no charge.

Thank you for your assistance. Sears replaced my refrigerator with a new one and I am very pleased with the product and the timely manner in which they addressed my concern.

    Original Review: Aug. 1, 2014

I purchased a side by side Kenmore Refrigerators in June of 2013. In July of 2014 my Refrigerators started to leak water all over my floor. I read the manual to see what it could be and it said to check the hose. I pulled the Refrigerators out and the water was leaking from the side where the ice maker was located. I turned the ice maker off and cleaned up the water. I left the icemaker off for a while. I turn the icemaker back on and the water started to leak again. When I call their customer service, I was told that my warranty ended on June 26, 2014. One month prior to my call and then he proceeding to pitch a sale for the Home Security system to protect my appliances. Then he explained that I need to set an appointment to have a service representative come out to diagnose what the problem is and pay him 75.00 and then I will need to pay for all parts needed to correct the problem.

This really upset me because if an appliance breaks down after operating for 1 year, I view as a defected item. I have three other Whirlpool appliances and they are all over 10 years old and I have never had a problem with either of them. Not one. I don't care who the company is, they should stand behind the product much better than that.

Considering I am a single person with no one in my home, stands that the ice maker was not in over use. I also purchased a dish washer and a vent to go over my oven at the same time I purchased the refrigerator. If I am asked what I want, I want another refrigerator. This one was defected in the beginning. I will be make complaints to everyone involved in my sale, including Kenmore, Sears, and BBB. My local TV station has a special segment dealing with people that are dissatisfied with a service or product and I intend on contact popular published radio stations to express my dissatisfaction with my new product. I appreciate the opportunity to share my story.

Yesterday we had our Kenmore elite refrigerator repaired yet again. Ice maker issues again. Repairman put in a new ice maker that now only has 2 screws that hold it in whereas there used to be 5. Therefore when the water came in to the ice maker it didn't go into the cup/tray instead just spilling all over. He turned off the ice maker and told my wife to have me turn down the water pressure when I got home and left. The ice maker is not screwed at the top allowing it to tip away from the water line and making the water spill. If I turned down the pressure it would be worse.

We spent $20,000 at sears in 7 years - craftsman rider and garage door openers, Kenmore fridge, microwave, dishwasher, stove, washer, dryer. A treadmill and vacuum cleaner. All in 7 years. All Kenmore was elite series. Problems with fridge were almost immediate. We have a light fixture meltdown, complete freezer ice up, control board changes, several ice maker issues, water dispenser always slow then stopped working. Complete shut downs with error codes. Most of these I have fixed myself, including yesterday’s episode after he left us high and dry. Even had a wire break smack dab in the middle of the water dispenser door that we were told could not be fixed because the doors are sealed at the factory and cannot be opened up. How does a wire break inside of a sealed door unless it was damage when being installed? Said I would need a new $800 door.

My wife and I managed to peel open enough of the door to see 2 wires that had very clear slice marks in them one being all the way through. We fixed them and the water dispenser worked like it had never worked before. Those 2 wires were cut during manufacture and hung on by a strand or two till finally letting go and then no more dispenser. Microwave tray would clunk and tip every time it went back and forth till I figured out the wheels were on the arm wrong and once I switched them it has been fine. Dishwasher needs to be run twice per load to get dishes clean. Stove works great. New washer sometimes stops mid cycle and says no H2O. Consumer reports says by Kenmore Elite. Well I will tell you they don't know crap.

I have almost no Kenmore appliances that work without problems, spent about $9000 on them, none older than 7 years some as new as 1 year and I will never consider another. We used to buy everything at Sears including a Dyson vacuum (love it) and a Nordic track treadmill (very good) and all my craftsman hand tools over the last twenty five years. No more. I am done. They have done almost nothing to help us or to keep us as customers. When Sears finally goes out of business (been hurting for years) I am going to call the customer service center and laugh at them. Goodbye Sears and I hope you’re gone soon. Kenmore is trash!!!!!!! Sears does not like their customers, just their money. They got mine, for the last time.

Kenmore Elite Refrigerator Model 795 79753 900 - We purchased the refrigerator in 2009 and in the past two years the vertical water line on the back of the refrigerator has developed leaks on three separate times usually pinhole leaks where the serviceman and I have seen each time. The last leak damaged our hardwood floor and sub-floor. The third time the leak developed I called Sears service center only to have them tell me they don't service in Anchorage, Alaska when in fact they do. I suspect that the reason they denied me service was because my protection agreement had expired. This seems to be a recurring problem with the Kenmore refrigerator and Sears is very frustrating to deal with along with the so called "elite" product line!

I purchased a $2000 Kenmore 3-door bottom fridge, Model# 79571304012, manufacture date of 2011.12. About 3 months after the warranty ran out, we noticed a loud noise coming from the freezer. We noticed a large ice buildup along the back wall. We knocked it off and the noise stopped. That lasted for a couple of weeks. The noise was back along with the ice buildup. Tried this a few more times over the next month or two. Then, the noise got really loud and we noticed that the freezer wasn't cooling properly. We then noted that after the ice was removed once again, the freezer was doing okay, but the refrigerator was getting warm. Well, by the next day, we lost all of our food and it was not working at all. We called a repairman and he charged us $250 to remove the door and replace some part. Now, one year later, it has started this same cycle - DO NOT BUY THIS! It is roomy and nice, but this has been a headache!!!

In September of 2012 we bought a new Kenmore refrigerator from Sears. In less than a year we noticed severe ice build up on the back panel of the bottom freezer. We contacted service who sent someone out. He did nothing other than tell us that maybe the door was left ajar, or that we basically open the refrigerator too much! Really?!! It's never been a problem with any past refrigerator. This was August and he said once the weather got less humid it would probably slowly disappear. Well we waited and it didn't and how convenient and cost saving for Sears....it went off warranty! Now it's added a new problem to go along with the ice build up. A loud noise probably coming from the evaporator fan motor from what I have read online.

Several weeks ago I pulled out the inner drawers and used a small hammer to chip away the ice build up myself. It stopped the noise for about 3 weeks, but now it's started up again and there is ice showing up again on the back panel. I contact Sears service and was told basically tough luck since we didn't buy the extended warranty. But they offered to give us 10% off of a service call. Big deal!! They never fixed the problem to begin with when it was still under warranty. We refused to pay $479 for extended protection on a $1200 large ticket item like a fridge that should last for more than a year without issues! They obviously know what they are selling is junk. I'm quite certain from what I've been reading that this is a design flaw. It should be recalled. I'm completely disgusted and will not deal with Sears again.

Had an independent repairman look at it today and he will try to get a part to fix it. He said he just had a lady whose Kenmore/LG frig melted everything in her frig because that light stayed on all of the time. Sears is aware of these defective parts ad have taken no responsibility to correct the problem. Now that Kenmore is made by LG, they should be taken off the market.

This is a follow-up to an earlier description of our problem with a Kenmore Elite bottom freezer refrigerator, purchased at a local Sears store in 2008. The prefix of 795 in the model number indicates, according to my extensive research, that LG manufactures this refrigerator. I just received notification, written in extremely poor English, that LG flatly denies manufacturing this refrigerator. They pass the buck to Kenmore. Since experiencing our problem starting last weekend, I have seen numerous references to this problem of the light staying on in the refrigerator section - getting so hot that it fries the surrounding area. I don't care about the food we lost, but I do get angry at the loss of a newly purchased bottle of $200 insulin (which was on the top shelf near the lights that were intensely hot) which I paid cash for because it's not covered by insurance.

I received no notification of any problem with this refrigerator at any time in the past 6 years. I spent numerous hours on the phone today, talking to people who can't speak clear English, being switched from department to department, being hung up on, being referred back to all the numbers I had called previously. With no repair persons/companies in our area (or within 100 miles) to service LG/Kenmore appliances, we have no options but to junk this incredibly expensive refrigerator. I can guarantee that I will never, never, never buy anything from Sears again or any LG product. I will run in the other direction. The customer service for Sears and LG is absolutely horrid. They should both be forced out of business.

Last weekend we noticed that the light in our LG manufactured (purchased 6 years ago at Sears under the Kenmore Elite name) bottom freezer refrigerator was staying on until it got too hot and shut down the top part of the refrigerator. The top part of the refrig. was so hot that it not only destroyed all the food there, but a newly purchased $200 bottle of insulin (not covered under any kind of insurance). I could smell the overheated light unit and immediately shut down the refrig. and unplugged it. I am paranoid about potential fires and wanted to avoid one until a repair person could check out the problem. We could not unscrew the light bulbs as they were too hot and, even after cooling down, were in so tightly that we couldn't get them to budge.

We lost most of the food in the refrig. and freezer. We contacted Sears regarding the light problem. Their reply was "This is a known issue with the refrigerator lights staying on all the time. The repair for this is to replace with a light kit with a new and improved part. For this repair ONLY the warranty was extended for the life of the product." Sears refused to send out a repair person or to tell us how to get the "new and improved part". We have absolutely NO people or companies that repair LG products in our area (or anywhere near where we live). We have been turned down by everyone we contacted to ask, beg, or plead to fix our refrigerator.

Given that this appliance only lasted 6 years, for the exorbitant price we paid, for the total lack of service (using the pass-the-buck routine), we deserve something - from LG and from Sears. Having to purchase another refrigerator at this point is almost impossible financially, but we have no choice. I am thoroughly disgusted with both the customer service departments at Sears and LG. One thing I would strongly recommend to both of them - hire people who speak English - CLEARLY.

I remember being a kid and my parents had a Kenmore fridge that was solid as a rock. Sears was the epitome of top notch service for their appliances and tools. Sad to say, no more... My Kenmore fridge has broken several times. One time, under warranty, their c/s center was having me to troubleshooting and repair it myself over the phone. Seriously? It has had several problems and I am not happy with it. The ice maker constantly gets stuck. Now, a small plastic piece (# 1 on attached diagram) broke off and they say that part is not "serviceable". They want me to REPLACE THE ENTIRE DOOR for $ 750.00 and the old door can end up in a landfill on account of a piece of plastic that they can't or won't sell. I am very disappointed and dissatisfied with Sears, Kenmore and their overall service strategy. Never again will I step foot in one of their stores.

I had purchased a Kenmore fridge in June 2012, took delivery in December 2012 and began using it then. After using it for 1 month, I emptied it, turned it off for 4 months and went on vacation. Returned back and turned the fridge on with no issues. I was advised to leave the fridge running while we were on another trip in January 2014 but found that our fridge's compressor had failed during our 2 month absence. I am guessing it failed early after I left, because when I returned on March 20, 2014, I found some of the items in the fridge had spoiled. In all, this fridge was only in operation for less than 11 months theoretically, and possibly only 9 months.

The fridge now runs constantly and won't keep cold. The designated Kenmore neighborhood repair guy said it's the compressor that's shot, the motor runs, the compressor doesn't get cold. Sears won't stand behind it because it exceeded its one year warranty, according to the calendar. Since Sears and Kenmore are not willing to stand behind their product. It is my intent to inform others of this issue with my fridge.

We bought a side by side, a stand up freezer and an extra refrigerator for our pantry, which was the last one we bought and it was 11/11. About 2 months ago it began not cooling right and had to be turned up and even then the freezer was not freezing. Ice cream was like milk and things in the refrigerator spoiled. We live out of town, 40 miles to Costco, so like to avoid that trip by having this extra appliance.

It took them two weeks to get a repairman then he said it could take up to 3 or more weeks to repair as it was a major coolant leak and may not be cost effective. Since the warranty had passed I was pretty much told too bad, so sad. This is not a Wal-Mart coffee maker or curling iron. Since when can you not expect a refrigerator to last more than 2.5 years? In talking to the "Solutions" dept I was told they have no phone # for the corporate office and I had no other place to turn. What a joke. Sears has turned in to another corporate bully.

I purchased a bottom-freezer Kenmore refrig. in April 2013 that has needed 7 service calls. The doors didn't close right, there was frost in the freezer (3 different times), the light switch was broken, etc. We now have frost again and need a new gasket. The latest appointment was scheduled contingent on receiving the new gasket. 10 days after I reported frost in the freezer for a second time. The technician claimed to have aligned the doors, but I can open the top door with one finger, and the freezer door isn't aligned with the top. Everything in the freezer is covered in a thick layer of frost.

After confirming the latest appointment, it was cancelled and re-scheduled unexpectedly. I've never heard of a 2 year old refrigerator needing 7 service calls. Ordered this refrig on sale at Sears store in Hawaii. Refrigerator door did not close by itself. There was much frost on the inside left of the refrig. as well as moisture on top of the refrig/freezer top. Tech came out and declared it as damaged--to be scrapped because the doors did not meet properly. My hard-boiled eggs froze inside the refrig. Tech told me to not put things on the left side of the refrig such as eggs. We waited 3 months to get a replacement. The only reason I got a replacement is because I kept out one rack for the door of the refrigerator and a shelf from the first refrigerator. You CANNOT adjust the shelves. They are fixed. We had 5" or so between one shelf and the other.

Second refrigerator still had the frost building up on the inside of the refrig. on the top left--same place as before but no condensation on top of the unit this time. Tech came out and looked in his book and told us that this model of refrigerator has problems in areas where there is humidity. Why then are they selling it in their Sears Hawaii store! I wrote a complaint to Sears via the e-mail address that I was given and I have not received a reply.

We bought a really expensive, top of the line, Kenmore Refrigerator 7 years ago. The kind with the display on the front that lets us specify how many oz/cups of water to dispense, etc. Recently the whole front display stopped working. We also have a valid warranty. After waiting two months and 3 visits from the repairman, we're told they cannot fix our display on our refrigerator. They could fix it if we had a black refrigerator, but they no longer make that part in white to go on a white refrigerator (They did offer to put the black part onto our white refrigerator which takes up a substantial part of the front and would look ridiculous to have a white + black refrigerator in our all white kitchen).

Top of the line refrigerators are supposed to last more than seven years. And their warranty is crap. They used to be rated high for customer service which is why we bought a Kenmore and paid extra for the warranty, but now it seems they're all too happy to collect money, but when it comes to replacing parts with the correct replacement parts, they can't deliver.

Approximately Nov 10th of 2013, we noticed an "RF error" on the readout on our refrigerator and our food inside was all 40*. We had purchased a home warranty when we purchased the house so we called Old Republic and reported the problem. On the 12th a repairman from BJ Appliance Service came out and said he was afraid to do anything because he wasn't sure that it wasn't in the sealed part of the refrigerator which is under a ten year warranty so he would report back to Old Republic.

Old Republic set up an appointment with Sears (A&E) Repair for November 19th. Since that time they have returned SEVEN times, replacing various parts each time, oftentimes more than once. Twice the repairman who was sent said that it was probably the fault of the first repairman that was sent. I insisted he did nothing but look at it. They finally agreed to a replacement because the fault was in the sealed part of the refrigerator but it took hours on the phone, seven times waiting for service and almost FOUR MONTHS without a working refrigerator.

Twice customer service people told us that because we hadn't bought the warranty it was up to us to replace it. And we were also told by Old Republic that Sears and LG were arguing over who should replace it because it is really an LG product. No wonder Sears is failing - they used to stand behind things that had their name on them. And the warranty on this $2600 refrigerator was almost $400! Kenmore (even though it is LG product) and Sears - never again.

To date, we have had 5 occurrences of the fridge portion turning off. No light, no error code, no cooling, just shut off. The first event happened sometime during the spring of 2011 while we were away from home. Lost complete contents of the fridge. Called Sears repair (note: no longer under warranty) and had the controller/computer board replaced at $350 plus labor. Thankfully bought extended service plan because 8 months later the same thing happened..... again replaced same board. This failure action continued a couple of times over the next few months and we were told by service to unplug the unit for about 5 minutes and it would restart. It did!!!

Service person (a contractor for Sears) told us he has serviced other units with the same issue and if the issue is not with a defective component, the unplug/replug procedure works. Well it just happened again and the unplug/replug procedure worked again. Low and behold, my wife found out from the manual that the unit should be shut off if you are away from home for more than about a week. Makes us wonder if this failure mode is known by the manufacturer and is programmed into the controller. Kind of an unusual way to go Green, don't you think. Will likely scrap the unit after I carefully research other brands. I say scrap because I do not want to burden anyone else with the unit by donating to charity.

So, Sears' answer? Buy a $279 warranty and we'll come out on February 10, 2014 to fix your refrigerator. If it costs more than $500 to fix, I have to pay the difference. Unbelievable!

Our previous Kenmore side by side lasted 8 yrs and the compressor failed so we bought another one. From day one the ice maker would not switch from cubed to crushed. I called the toll free number and the foreigner on the other end of the line said, "No problem sir, we will ship you a new refrigerator". I said no, no....I just want this one fixed! So I called another number and spoke to a nice American lady who walked me through the rather simple fix and said, "This is a common problem". I'm thinking then why doesn't Sears address it?? In addition to that issue, when the solenoid opens to fill the ice maker it is so loud it sounds like an alarm going off. So I reported it and they send a guy out who does nothing but verify the model and serial number, orders a new solenoid and charges $250.00. 2 weeks later another guy shows up to install it and charges $350.00! Now this is under warranty but come on... I only paid $1000.00 for the fridge! Anyway the new solenoid is just as loud as the original one and now they want to come change it out again. I told them I want a different model refrigerator and was told they have to make so many attempts to correct this problem before they can declare it a lemon and have the whole thing replaced. What a joke! I am done with Sears. They suck!

I am well out of warranty now, and my fridge stopped making anything cold. No error codes or signals, opened my fridge and freezer to puddles of cesspool of muck. It appears as though everything is fine from the outside. Apparently I need a new condenser. I have had nothing but countless strange problems with my fridge, hindsight is 20/20 now. I would NEVER purchase another from Sears or Kenmore. Expensive pile of chrome junk, paperweight at best.

My letter to sears customer service: I am writing to you today to express my sincere displeasure with the quality of customer service I have received from Sears. As you are probably aware, I purchased a new, top of the line Kenmore Elite refrigerator from my local Sears store in May of 2012. Since then, this refrigerator has stopped working twice. Both times I called Sears to repair it and both times I was told it needed a new PCB (part number EBR 73093602) and a new Duct assembly (part number ADJ 73252202). The first service call was covered by the manufacturer's 1 year warranty, the more recent call was not.

The technician who was sent on the most recent occasion mentioned to me that the problem I am experiencing is a known defect and has been assigned "Service Bulletins". This was confirmed by the customer service representative that I spoke to on the phone. The CSR went on to give me the actual SB numbers of CREF20121236 and CREF20131371. Knowing now that this is a documented recurring problem, I had reasonably expected Sears to stand behind their product and cover the cost of the repair. Apparently I was wrong. After numerous phone calls and being transferred form one representative to another, the best resolution I was offered was a 10% discount off the cost of the repair. I find this totally unacceptable.

My refrigerator has been inoperative for 2 weeks now, and will remain so for at least another week as that is when the parts arrive and the next service appointment is scheduled. Again, this is totally unacceptable. In the interim, I've been forced to incur the additional expense of renting a refrigerator to avoid further loss of food due to spoilage. My experience with Sears up to this point has been extremely disappointing to put it mildly. The unwillingness to stand behind their products, especially knowing of the recurring defect, is deplorable. Going forward I plan to leave numerous online reviews, documenting the issue I've mentioned above. I think most people expect more from Sears. Thank you for your time.

Please all of you that have had problems with the Kenmore Elites, call their Kenmore manufacturer complaints department at 877-878-3687. The more people that call and complain about these fridges, the more likely we are to get the darned things recalled. I know they have different models, but mine is 795.713.02.012 and at least 3 other similar models have had the same fan/icemaker/condenser problem with icing over, loud fan noises and the icemaker not functioning. Unfortunately for me, the last tech replaced the icemaker but didn't note it in our file. He used a hair dryer to defrost the coils and told us to do it ourselves instead of waiting on service.

He also said it would only have to be done once or twice a year. Well because we did as he instructed instead of calling the last 5 or 6 times it was acting up, we aren't eligible to get a free replacement. Had we called in and complained about it, they would have. I also found out that if we complain enough about it and they get enough calls, they will recall it so please spread the word and don't do anything yourself if possible. These models are substandard and aren't manufactured in the USA so they are junk. Sears used to have the best reputation for service and products, America used to produce wonderful products that we were proud to stand behind and put our names on.

All of the Sear reps I talked to were very apologetic and I'm sure some must feel horrible about having to fail those who rightfully have complaints. I'm going to find out more about lemon laws for one but I think Sears and other retailers who sell foreign made items need to get tough about the products they are putting their names on. They need to demand higher standards and better quality or stop doing business with these people. I'm sure the fridges they manufacture for their countries aren't having these kinds of problems, to be sure.

The interior light had melted the light fixture. A repair person was not available for several weeks. We removed the light bulb. A repair was made. Interesting that a recall had been made. We had no notification. We did have to pay for the service call. Early in December, I noticed that our hardwood floor in front of the refrigerator seemed to be warping in areas. We pulled the refrig away from the wall to find that water damage had occurred behind it. Thankfully, a plumber responded to an emergency call. The water line for the water dispenser & ice cube maker had hardened & cracked. So any time either was used, water sprayed on the floor. At this time we are drying out the floor. We will not use the water features again. I would never buy a Kenmore product again.

He repaired that and then stated that the computer board may need to be replaced as well; he did not do that, as it reset. Well, that was wrong as the freezer continued to not be as cold as it should. We go out of town for 2 weeks and the entire unit lost its cooling power. Get this... The temperature rose to 80 in the inner cabinet as well as the freezer so I had to remove all food and try to clean out the smell.

When I called for service, I was told the earliest they could come was 7, yes, 7 days later. Why would they take so long for such a vital part of a household? They are due here in 5 more days as we live with two ice chests and no items that need to be refrigerated. I am not sure what the outcome will be of this visit, but I am seriously considering junking it and buying something else. I can not trust it to work properly. With holidays around the corner, I don't want to lose more food. I am not at all happy with Sears products. I feel that they have just shifted to the cheapest versions possible to maintain the highest profit margins they can. When I call the different companies that have their names on it, they all say it's not their responsibility. So what I have found out: They like my money and want me to purchase another ref from them after this one lasted two years and I have been told it has to be thrown out because it can't be repaired. If you didn't purchase a service agreement they can't talk to you.

The warranty expired just minutes before my ref quit and that there never was a warranty for the problem I was having. You must pay for a service call before they will tell you what I already know and get nothing in return for that service call. If I purchase another ref from them, I will be treated just as poorly the next time I have a problem and because you're not a new customer, we will find another way to treat you even more poorly because now you're family and that's just what we do. I hope nobody has the same issue I do but don't be afraid to take the Sears beat down. Just keep in mind that they like to do it slowly so take a day or two off of work to get the whole experience.

The first year that we came back and opened up, we could not get the refrigerator to work. ERR was the reading where the temperature should have been displayed. I contacted Sears and they informed me that my warranty had just run out. In my defense, it took several weeks to have the repairman come to our area. Then after both my husband and I took off from work and drove the two hours so that we could be here when he arrived, he never showed. We had to again set up another appt. and that is when the repairman said the design of the bottom drawer freezer was a bad design and we had to make sure we closed it from the exact center or the fan would not work properly. This lasted about one month before the same thing happened.

Sears sold us the extended warranty (another $300) and after limping through the summer, we arrived this year to the same problem and again our extended warranty had expired. So far this summer, we have had the coils freeze up 4 times. My husband has to take off the back of the freezer after removing the drawer and use a hair dryer to defrost the coils. The amount of food that I have had to throw away is a crime. Not only was this refrigerator/freezer expensive but the customer service was horrible and the problem still exists. Bad design or not, it is not the fault of the consumer. What rights does this consumer have? All I have had offered to me was to purchase another extended warranty! One star rating = angry. My beautiful Kenmore Elite Bottom drawer refrigerator died suddenly a week and a half ago. It was 5 1/2 years old and I came home from shopping to find the freezer had turned into a pool of water. Two repairmen and dozens of hours shopping around, reading reviews, talking to repairmen on the phone and salesmen at various stores I've come to realize that no average priced refrigerator made today is expected to last more than 7-12 years at best and though 5 years is a little short, it's not all that uncommon. Kenmore refrigerators are made by various other companies... Whirlpool mostly, though mine was made by Amana. We've looked at the wonderfully rated LGs and Samsungs only to back off when reading other reviews full of complaints about electronic failures and shoddy workmanship.

For me as a consumer, IT'S ALL ABOUT RELIABILITY AND SERVICE, not fancy bells and whistles. Having both would be nice, but I don't know if that's an option anymore. Ice makers seem to cause a lot of problems too, from what I've read. Seems like buying SIMPLE would be best. The less money you pay, the less you stand to lose. Sad statement on the quality of products out there today. Maybe we should all buy cheap since the stuff is basically built to be disposable, and send a message to the manufacturers. Hit them in the pocketbook. We all need refrigerators, but we just can't expect a good product it seems. Or anyone at that end who cares. WE still haven't decided what to buy... Our stuff is crammed into our old 15 year old GE extra out in the game room. Our neighbor offered us use of their old 35 year old in their garage. Pathetic, isn't it?

I called service and was told that my 1-year warranty had expired and I had two options: purchase an extended 1-yr warranty for $298.00 and the repair would be free, or call service which would cost $109 to diagnose the problem and approx $300+ to repair (based loosely on the symptoms I described).

Neither of these options is acceptable for the following reasons: 1. I purchased this refrigerator for about $490. 2. If the average lifespan of a refrigerator is 15-18 years, my EXPECTATION is that this unit will last the average lifetime without major repairs. Had Sears advertised that this unit may only last 4 years before needing major repair, of course I would not have bought it. 3. The estimated cost for repairing this appliance is between 60% and 100% of the purchase price. This is ridiculous. Why would I have bought a unit that would need this type of repair after 4 years.

I contacted Sears and they offered me 15% off repair or 15% off the purchase of a new refrigerator. Neither of these options are acceptable. The unit is obviously defective so why would I invest that kind of money in repairing it. If this is the level of confidence they have in their own product, why should I buy another Kenmore refrigerator. Right now, I am out of $500 because I have to purchase another refrigerator, and Sears has basically benefited by selling a full-priced defective product.

We purchased all of our appliance for our new home and have had nothing but problems with the icemaker in our Kenmore Elite fridge since the beginning. The ice maker either freezes all the ice together, won't dispense or won't make ice. My husband works on appliances for a living and has had to repair this problem several times. Now, it won't even dispense at all. We had to replace the main board a few months ago also. My parents bought the same fridge as ours right after we did and have had the same problems. And this last year, our friends bought the newer version of the same fridge and are also having the same problem. I know we are out of warranty, but we are very unhappy with this product!

I bought a Kenmore Elite refrigerator in October 2010. Two years later, the door is completely broken. The ice maker stopped working after a year. All produce freezes in the crisper. This is a poorly designed refrigerator. The door spaces are too small to fit more than one or two items. The light hangs into the top shelf and prevents items from fitting there. For some reason, there are bars hanging under the shelves that prevent items from fitting also. All round poorly designed appliance.

These units are a separate matched pair, Kenmore Elite ref and freezer. I purchased these units in Jan. 2011 but didn't plug them until Sept. 2011 because I remodeled the kitchen. Neither unit worked properly. From the start, the freezer would not get below 22 deg. The repairs finally got the freezer working. The ref has never gotten below 39 deg. with temp control on 7. The compressor has been replaced, thermostat, the timer and then rechecked at another appointment but it still will not cool. On 24 Nov., it was 48 deg, on the 25th, 42 deg. Today it is 40. deg. I have had at least 7 or 8 appointments for these units.

On Nov. 24, 2012, I had to purchase another Kenmore ref as a back up because I cannot depend on this unit, which I could not afford because I am on a fixed income (disabled). I talked to lemon service, 1 800 927 7836, today. Their service records are not accurate. One comment from the Tech repairman stated I didn't want any more service. This is not correct. He said he didn't know what else to do. I need to be contacted about more info. Please.

I purchased a Kenmore Refrigerator Model # 795.78412.800 in the Fall of 2008. The unit had to be unplugged and plugged back in to reset in order for it to work (had to do that at least 5 times since purchase). After a year, the bottom shelf hardware broke and the crisper drawer cracked and had to be repaired (see pictures). In June 2012, an error code came on the freezer door and the icemaker was no longer working! I had a repairman come to look at the problem for a $500.00 fix (we choose not to fix it at this time)! After reading the reviews, it seems if you fix the fan for $500.00, there is still a good chance of it breaking again. This is ridiculous since this unit is less than 5 years old! I think a credit on a new fridge is warranted! I have been a loyal Kenmore buyer over the years but have been severely disappointed with the poor quality of this refrigerator.

Shouldn't a freezer last more than a year? I ended up having to buy a new freezer, but not a Kenmore. I'm wondering if this was refurbished.

Today, however, I opened the fridge at lunch time and noticed the smell of burning plastic. The lights had stayed on and melted the plastic light cover. The plastic was dripping down onto food! I tested the door switches to confirm that the doors weren't simply left ajar: 1) Open doors: Fridge beeps and lights on; 2) Open doors + press switch: Fridge stops beeping and lights on; 3) Close doors: Fridge stops beeping (and presumably lights still on). I am happy I caught this during the day! I shudder to think what would have happened if this occurred at night. Kenmore/LG should recall these fridges before they cause a house fire!

I paid $1,355.98 and for a fridge to last that long is ridiculous! The compressor went in my fridge, which had to be faulty or a lemon. I'm a single mother and that is a lot of money for me to come up with. Unfortunately, I never purchased the extended warranty which at the time was close to $300.00. I lost $200.00 at least of food in my fridge and to repair my fridge will cost me $400.00 for the part and $300.00 for the service. Unbelievable that Kenmore and anyone working at Sears can stand behind this product and actually write on their invoice, "The brands you want at the store you trust."

I contacted the service center and the store I purchased at. They would not do anything to compensate for this or even meet me halfway on the part, I would have considered repairing it. So, it's GE product for me from now on. I will never purchase anything from Sears again. If I bought a $20.00 clothing item and it ripped, I would definitely have no problem bringing it back. But a large appliance after 22 months of purchase and for no one to seem to care at Sears blows my mind!

Apparently, it has 3 motors in it, and with requiring so much pressure, every time we open the fridge portion, the top freezer pops open and often. It doesn't close completely, leaving a gap of about 1/4". If a person is gone all day, they can easily find that the freezer section has been open 1/4" all day. We're so dissatisfied with our purchase and because it takes awhile to realize its problems, Sears would only send a repairman out to check it out. He says the material they use to insulate the fridges now does not do anything to soundproof them. He gave the reasons for the freezer door popping open which doesn't help us any. We're very sorry we purchased from Sears. We won't trust them again. This product is supposed to be made by Maytag, so, watch out.

The model number of these two Kenmore refrigerators is 106 71194101; S/N for the one in our kitchen is EM2815239, the S/N for the one in our basement is EM3413223. The refrigerator in our kitchen started depositing water in the cabinet area, coming out of the tower. I placed a container under the tower to catch the water and this continued for a week, when we finally called the service department. The service representative knew immediately what was wrong with the refrigerator. He said it was frozen up and was depositing the water that should be going into the defrost pan into the cabinet area via the tower. He said it was a faulty design of this particular model refrigerator. He tore the entire freezer area apart and there was ice accumulated on the coils and under the bottom pan of the freezer area. This cost us $140 (a senior discount).

Just a couple of weeks ago, this refrigerator again started to deposit water in the cabinet area, so we knew what the problem was and we tore the freezer area apart, as the service representative had done and removed all the ice that had once again accumulated in the freezer area. These refrigerators are supposed to be frost-free and this is getting to be quite a job, as in the last week, we also found water had accumulated in our basement refrigerator. Quite a large amount of water was in the cabinet as we do not get into this refrigerator daily. So once again, we had to put all the food in coolers and dismantle the freezer and had to use a hair dryer, due to the fact that the ice had become very thick around the tower and we could not remove the bottom pan until we melted it.

This is getting very annoying and a lot of work having to remove all the food from the freezer and trying to keep it frozen, so it won't spoil. We have been very loyal customers of Sears. We have always had Sears washers and dryers, many tools have been purchased by my husband, lawn mowers, blowers, etc. Actually, I worked for Sears in the Credit Dept. Canton, OH after my graduation in 1948, until I was married in 1949. I was a very active shopper from the catalog, for our children, when I was working, made if very convenient to use. Just had to pick up the items at the catalog dept. I still buy many things of clothing for our grandchildren and great-grandchildren from Sears. We are so disappointed in these 2 refrigerators. I would like to know if you have any suggestions as to how the poor design of these refrigerators can be corrected so they do not freeze up. Thank you. I will be waiting to hear from CEO Lou D'Ambrosio.

I own a Kenmore Elite Trio French door refrigerator and the large glass shelve shattered in little pieces when I went to clean it under water. This is the second same type of fridge I owned and the problem is that the freezer keeps freezing up and then defrosting to the point that even the food gets defrosted. The ice maker freezes up and stops making ice. The ice melts down, then freezes up to one block of ice. This is a $2,000 purchase and it is the second one that I have owned. The first one was left behind when I sold my home and I only experienced it for five months as I had to move.

My freezer has frozen up and the tracks were frozen. When I went to pull on the freezer handle to try to open it, the door hinge came off and the door is hanging on by one hinge. It is Saturday and I had to put a trash can up against the door to try to keep the freezer from defrosting until Monday, when a service man can come out to fix the door. I am reading all of these complaints and I am not a happy camper. I will be calling Sears Monday morning with all these complaints to back up my complaint and I will get back to you to let you know how it goes. I bought this fridge last September 2009.

    Updated on 05/06/2012:

I followed up on my service call. Well, it has been one week, and today, I finally have my Kenmore Elite Trio bottom freezer made by LG working again. Never buy Sears appliances. I spoke to the corporate office, and you cannot speak to anyone above the so-called customer service executive office people. I spoke to a Lana, and she would not tell me her supervisor's name. She said it is for security reasons. Ha! The service man came out on Monday, ordered the part, and came back Thursday to install. Well, it was the wrong part for the freezer door. I ordered it again, and the appointment was made for Saturday. The service man came out, and it was a different man who came out to service the fridge. He did not charge me! I am sure they made a mistake, because I was told I would not be reimbursed for food and I would only get maybe a 10 to 15 percent discount. It's not acceptable to me, since I lost over $300.00 worth of food. Lana was not helpful; she was very rude and would not let me speak to anyone else in corporate nor would she gave me any name of who was above her.

So I called another number, thinking I would get someone else. And lo and behold, I ended up being transferred to Lana again. I told her that I wanted to speak to the CEO. She said I could not speak to a higher authority. I said I will be writing a letter to the CEO, and she said it will just go to her. I also stated in our conversations that I will be standing out in front of Sears appliance entrance, telling and showing everyone about these complaints that are out on the internet about Kenmore appliances and the lousy service you get now. She said to not threaten her. So I said it was a promise, not a threat. Hmm, I wonder if she had second thoughts and really did authorize the service for free.

Well, we will find out if they contact me. I will be telling them "Too bad!" And I will not be paying for anything, except the service call. Stay tuned. Remember my freezer door got stuck, then I tried to open it and the door fell off the hinge. That is my story. Spread the word. Do not buy appliances at Sears. Oh, I also told her I was a realtor, and I was going to tell everyone in the industry not to buy Sears appliances. Hopefully, she came to realize I was not joking.

In 2011, I purchased a Kenmore side-by-side refrigerator (stock #46-54789) from Sears, for my elderly parents. The ice maker and dispenser are extremely poorly designed. Ice chucks drop inside the unit on its own; shaved and crushed ice falls to the floor, outside the unit each time used, causing my 77-year-old mother to wipe hardwood floors each time the ice maker is used. Chute appears to be too short, was not designed to have ice go directly into a glass/cup, therefore ice dispenses everywhere outside the glass, on to floor, well of unit, and shoots sometimes on to countertop across of unit. The bodies of the units were so out of square, one door would be between a half to one inch higher or lower than the other and there was dried expanding spray foam sticking out up to three inches past the metal front plate. The real bad part about it was as long as the refrigerator was all packed up with the foam shipping blocks and strapped down, it looked fine. They would get it in the house, start unpacking it and that's when everything would go to hell. We eventually found out that the model we purchased manufacturing facility had been moved to Mexico. We purchased it in 2009 and because of all the problems we had, Sears gave us a five-year parts and labor extended warranty that we have had to use frequently.

Both door seals have gone bad. It took three refrigerator doors and four freezer doors delivered to our home before we got one that didn't look like it had been through Wold War III and you could tell they came from the warehouse that way. Also the plastic surround on the shelves keep breaking. We're on our third shelf. Now, the unit has quit cooling and supposedly has a bad evaporator and drier tube, model# 106.59123801. I'm wondering if anybody else has had same problems. According to Sears, this is supposed to be one of the most reliable units Kenmore makes. That's a joke!

I purchased a black Kenmore refrigerator (model #795.75319.900) in 4/2010. I had to call for a service repair on 5/20/2010, because frost had built up in the freezer and the food in the refrigerator was not getting cold and the water dispenser would continue to flow after the cup was removed from the door. A repair person came out and fixed the problem, stated ice had built up in the panel behind the freezer so cold air was not flowing into the refrigerator area. I forget what he said the problem with the dispenser was due to.

After about a few months, my husband and I noticed the problem again, such as frost building up in the freezer and water dispenser still not working properly. Within a year, Sears replaced our fridge with a new one. After about 3-6 months same problems, the dispenser never worked properly, we just keep it locked now. I defrosted the fridge and it worked okay for a little while, but the same problem keeps happening. The fridge isn’t even 2 years old. We are tired of losing food and defrosting this thing every few months. We are talking of buying a new fridge but these things are supposed to last at least 12 years, we are not even close to that.

I talked to service dept. The lady was pleasant at first, then when I asked if they (Kenmore) would help with the purchase of a new fridge, her tone changed and she asked me in an accusatory voice "Why didn’t you call when you were having problems with the second refrigerator?!" Of course, that upset me a little, I have several of this company's products and would probably buy more, but not if they are not going to stand by their products and customer service upsets the clients calling for assistance.

I explained to her how I was trying to fix the problem by defrosting and not paying for service calls every six months, which if it is a quality product, I wouldn't have to do anyway. The water dispenser has never worked properly. It is nothing my family or I could have done to make this refrigerator malfunction, it is a manufacturing defect or possible just a lemon of a fridge. However, I should not have to pay $1,000-1,500 for a new one when this one is still practically new. It’s just not operating like a new. Why should I have to pay for a service call and repair when this like new fridge malfunctions? Sears should pay for the repair.

Service man told us today that this is a problem with this model's bottom drawer design, because you think it is closed but it is open enough to cause a frost problem that freezes the fan. It appears to be a similar problem to other LG refrigerators that have been recalled and the fan can be a fire hazard.

Our model has not been recalled, but serviceman said we better get extended warranty because this is a lousy model. If he is telling the truth, it should have been recalled. If he is lying, it's a Sears scam to scare us into buying expensive extended warranties. It also took the one week to come out and service, because they ordered a new PCB, but that wasn't even the problem.

The service man said that this model has been out five years with this problem with no change in the design. There is too much "play" in the bottom drawer door. He changed the PCB anyway, because he said he changes 30-40 bad PCBs a year on this model. He also changed the sensor in the freezer drawer door that communicates to the PCB.

I feel that in light of his information, Sears should give me the extended warranty for free. They also dented the door when it was originally delivered, and we could never get through on the 800 number to get compensation. And they count on us being too busy to follow through.

Our side by side Kenmore refrigerator, serial no. 253.44503609 came with our condo, probably purchased in 2007 but maybe 2008 when we purchased the condo. Last year, we discovered a rust spot on the exterior back panel behind the freezer side and a large amount of condensation. The interior was working fine but clearly it was just a matter of time before the rust would eat through the paneling and cause a hole making interior cooling inefficient if impossible.

We called Sears and a repairman paid a visit. After looking at the unit thoroughly, he concluded that nothing could be done. The problem was with a lack of insulation in a small area behind the freezer inside the unit, i.e. a problem with the manufacturing. When I called Sears back to see if there was anything else that could be done, the person on the phone said that the repairman who had visited wrote that we had refused service to the unit! Can this problem be fixed or not?! Their response: they could send another repairman out and put the $60 we would pay towards a new refrigerator if that's what needed to happen. Would we like to buy the extended warranty for $250 at that time?

This refrigerator was doomed before it left the warehouse and now I will have to replace it at full cost. Thanks Sears, for your crappy products. Would this issue have even been covered under the one year warranty? I will never purchase another Kenmore product nor one from Sears. This product should be recalled if other units experienced the problem.

Kenmore Elite Kenmore refrigerator (Model number 59676522500) required frequent service calls. It would have been nice if the repairmen told us that they were repairing the same part over and over again. It is a horrible design flaw. The copper tubing that goes from the compressor to the evaporator runs through the drain pan. The moisture corrodes the tubing causing loss of Freon. The repair is expensive (Sears wanted $900). If we had known the other four repairs were caused by this design flaw, we would have continued the extended service plan which had expired shortly after the last repair. So, this $2,000 refrigerator wasn't built to last even a year. It was repair every year since purchase. It is now 5.8 years old and needed to be repaired again. You'd think they would fix the problem, not just put band aids on it.

The ice maker water line from my Kenmore refrigerator 7425, unknown to me, had a crimp in it when installed and after 4 years developed a small hole. The water leaked under my kitchen cabinets, causing thousands of dollars in replacement costs. At the outset of the leak, there was no visible evidence since the water spread out toward the back of the cabinets. According to my plumber, the crimp was there when the refrigerator was new and installed that way. This refrigerator was rated highly by Consumer Reports and might be a good refrigerator if it wasn't for the shoddy parts and attention from installers.

The lights in the refrigerator compartment would not shut off and it is starting to overheat and smell like burning plastic or wires. I placed a call to Sears for service and was told initially that the issue would not be covered. I explained to the representative that this could have been a serious problem resulting in property loss or death if a fire resulted. I told them that I had noticed many other complaints posted on the Internet referring to the same issue.

I asked to be transferred to the recall department and spoke with a lady, who explained to me, after placing my call on a brief hold, that there was, in fact, a recall (Model: SF-46-515-R5). The telephone number I had called was 1-800-469-4663. I was told that it was a recall from LG. Apparently, they had made the refrigerator for Sears Kenmore Brand. The parts are on back order and when they are shipped, I will be notified and the service will be done free of charge.

My Kenmore refrigerator freezes food and insulin even when its thermostat is set as 40 degrees. I have had several repair calls and appointments on this since it was bought in 2009 and this issue is still not resolved. The Customer Service department has told me that my warranty is invalid (which it is not). The customer service today went as far as hanging up on my husband while he was complaining about our refrigerator problem, freezing his insulin.

I contacted Sears and was told that they know of the cracking problem but there was no recall issued. The fix for this is patching the cracks with epoxy. I understand that the cracks continue to appear, this being an ongoing problem. Checking online, many have the same problem. One technician had the nerve to say that it was due to humidity in my home, I live in NY! How dare they try to blame the customer for this defect!

We purchased a Kenmore refrigerator several weeks ago, and the ice coming out of the ice maker had a horrible chemical taste. A Sears repairman came out to check it (it took weeks for him to come), but he could not find anything wrong. He sent us a new ice maker, which we installed ourselves, but this did not solve the problem. The ice still tasted awful, like gasoline. I called Sears again, and they sent a different person out. He did not know what was wrong, either. He took the water filter out and told us to see if that made a difference after a few days. Yes, that did solve the problem; the ice now tastes normal.

Apparently, poison chemicals were leaking out of the water filter into the ice maker's water line. The reason why we purchased this $1,000.00 fridge to start with was because it had filtered interior water and ice maker. Now it has no filter in it, so consequently, we do not have the filtered water that we paid for. To top it off, Sears refuses to replace the defective water filter. I will never deal with Sears again!

Two years ago, I bought a Sears Kenmore Side-by-Side Refrigerator, Model 106.58144.801. When it was under warranty, the repairman had to come out 4 times to fix the ice-maker! The technician told me Sears will only come out so many times when it is under warranty, and then, they won't honor the warranty any more. Now, after only two years it stopped making ice totally and I had to replace the whole ice-maker. It should last more than two years! Poor engineering to say the least. Sears needs to apply pressure to Whirlpool to correct the problem with their products, or refuse to do business with them. As it stands, Sears benefits from the shoddy workmanship by selling parts, but in the long run people will stop buying the products at Sears as they will have lost faith in them. I replaced the ice-maker from a local vendor -- not Sears! I will not buy major appliances from Sears any more.

On 21 August 2011, we returned home from after a weekend away and noticed that our Sears Kenmore refrigerator (Model: 71309) was not working at all. We have purchased this appliance in June of 2009 with a three year extended warranty. We assumed that since the manufacturer warranties the appliance for the first year, our protection would begin once that ended. Clearly, we were misinformed at the time of our purchase. The entire contents of the freezer/refrigerator were lost.

We placed a call to 1-800-4MY-HOME and were informed that our protection agreement expired on 30 June 2011 (not quite two months prior). We were told at that time that a technician could not even come to look at the refrigerator until 09 September 2011. When asked if there was any way someone could come and, at least, look at it before then to determine what was wrong, we were told no. On 22 August 2011, I called 1-800-4MY-HOME again to try to discuss any possible options since we buy all of our appliances from Sears. Meanwhile, I had to have another company come out to look at the unit for $89.00 to, at least, find out what was wrong. They came on on 24 August 2011 and determined that the mother board fuse was blown and a whole new mother board must be installed.

On 22 August 2011, I spoke with Ella after calling the 1-800 number. Ella was helpful. She informed me that we could purchase a one year extension for our appliance for $163.98. I asked if we could possibly have a courtesy extension to help move the service request along and perhaps avoid the $89.00 fee for someone else to come and look at the refrigerator, she advised no. Once we paid the one year extension of $163.98, we could schedule an "emergency" service call where someone would come out within five days. I asked why we were not notified that our warranty was going to expire, and was told that no notification was being sent out. Only as a courtesy, we were given the option of extending for the $163.98. I then asked if we could schedule the emergency service first and then my fiance would just call back to give our credit card information. She said no and that we must call back and pay the extension first before we could schedule.

My fiance called back that same day and was given an extremely hard time. At first, they told him that the amount to pay was $251.00. He said that I had just called an hour or so ago and was told $163.98. He was told again that it was $251.00. He called me to ask who I spoke with and I advised him that it was Ella. Finally, after being transferred three times, the amount of $163.98 was found to be the amount to pay. Then, when tried to activate the "Emergency Service call," they told him that no one could come out until 07 September. He said that there should be a note saying that we are requesting an emergency service because we had been without the refrigerator since 21 August 11. Reluctantly, a call was scheduled for 29 August 2011 between 1 - 4. We asked that a note be put on the account stating that this could not be cancelled.

On 29 August 2011, after taking the afternoon off from work, we received a call at 3:30 saying that the technician had called out sick and they had to cancel the appointment. (Why wait until 3:30?) Then, we asked, "Does it say that this appointment cannot be cancelled?" The reply was, "Yes, but there was no technician available to come." They could reschedule for 30 August 2011 between 1 - 4 again. We were not happy but we agreed. I also called to inquire about the food we lost and was told to give the list to the technician. He would have to call the food loss department and verify a few things.

On 30 August 2011, at about 3:45, we received the call that the technician was running much too late to get there, asking if could they reschedule. My fiance had been home since 1:00 p.m. After he informed me of this, I called the escalated customer solutions phone number and was treated with no respect stating that we were given the option of cancelling. This was done if your customers had to go back to work or had other plans. I said that the technician wanted to cancel the appointment again. It was already too late to return to work and we had taken two half days already. This was unacceptable. I advised that I didn't care how late they were going to be. I would be there and I wanted a technician to arrive, prepared to fix my refrigerator. The lady on the phone reluctantly checked with "scheduling" and I was told that someone would be there that day. She could not give me a time, though.

I left work and headed home. Half way home, my fiance called to say that the technician arrived at 4:20 and was there for 9 minutes. The technician determined that the mother board was blown, had to order a part, and no one could come back until 14 September to install it (This was Karl from the Blue team). Karl then proceeded to tell my fiance that if he was handy with a screwdriver (since the part was being mailed to our home), my fiance could open up the back of the refrigerator and install the part himself. Wouldn't this void my warranty that I just purchased? He then said that the part would arrive Thursday to our home. My fiance stated that he was not going to install it himself and when he said that he had the food list to give to the technician to call the food loss department, Karl said that he couldn't take that list. It wouldn't be covered anyway, and there was nothing he could do. We would have to wait until the unit was repaired to even attempt to call it in. My fiance was at a loss of words. Karl left after being there for a total of 9 minutes.

My fiance called me as I was still on my way home so I attempted to call Sears again and tried to explain that I was extremely dissatisfied with the events that took place. I was told to hold and the line got disconnected. (It was 4:45 when I called). When I called back, I was told that the offices were closed until 8:00 a.m. the next morning. Needless to say, I was not very happy. When I arrived home, I was shocked to find in the mail a "renew your warranty" letter. The worst part? It said that I had until 03 October 2011 to renew. The cost? $130.00, which was $35.00 cheaper than what we had paid. I am finding all of this to be a huge game being played by Sears. The notice led me to believe that I was covered until 03 October, and to renew, all I had to do was reply and pay $130.00. But I had been disconnected earlier.

At 8:00 a.m. on 31 August 2011, I was calling the escalated number once again. The person who answered, after asking for my phone number, did not even let me talk. She said, "I see here that there is an emergency part ordered for you and it will be delivered tomorrow." I asked about the 14 September 2011 installation and why was I disconnected last night. She said, "Hold on. No, we can have someone there Saturday. I don't know what 14 September you are talking about." I tried to explain what had happened but she said, "I can read it all right here, no need. Is Saturday okay for you? Between 9 - 11?" I said yes, but..." She interrupted me and promptly said, "Have a nice day, thank you for calling Sears," and hung up. I have never been so insulted by this entire process. At this point, if the technician does not arrive on Saturday, I would like my refrigerator replaced with a three year warranty.

As a bright note, I called the food loss department myself on 1 September 2011. I spoke with Ashley, who was, I must say, amazing. I told her the whole story and asked if the department would be open on Saturday so the technician could call-in the food loss as I was instructed. She said, "No, but I can see what a problem you have been having." She proceeded to process the food loss claim without any problems. She was absolutely amazing, nice and helpful. If my whole experience was like this, I would not have been so angry.

On Friday, 02 September 2011, we received a call confirming our appointment for Saturday 03 September between 8 - 12. So, by 12:05, when no one had arrived, called or anything, I called the escalated number that I had been calling all week. They informed me that my account was locked and it had been referred to corporate with a case manager. They could not help me other than to pass my number along and have someone call me back within two hours. I expressed my extreme displeasure and the representative informed me that she understood and would have the corporate case manager call me.

I decided to call the number that had confirmed our appointment just to ask why no one had appeared at our house. After holding for 17 minutes, the representative informed me that my appointment was cancelled. I said, "What? Who cancelled it? You confirmed it yesterday." She said, "Well that is an automated call. I said that I didn't care if it was automated or not. It was confirmed, and this is an emergency call that has been an emergency for a long time. I asked to speak to the person who decided to cancel this without letting us know and after holding for a considerable amount of time, my call was disconnected.

I called the escalated number and after holding for 15 minutes, I was informed again that my account was locked and referred to corporate. The representative assured me that she would take my number to her manager (who would get in touch with the case manager) and someone would call me back shortly. I had been at home waiting since 8:00 a.m. and it was now 2 p.m.

Then, I received a call from case manager Edwin's assistant**. She stated that she reviewed my case and that she understood my frustration. Edwin would contact me today. I explained that I would have never known the appointment had been cancelled had I not called them several times. I informed her that I was completely aggravated and that I could no longer afford to take any time from work. It has been 17 days without a refrigerator, I have been hung up on, given more excuses that I can count and lost time from work. I wanted either someone to come on my time to install the part or I wanted the refrigerator picked up and have my money refunded. At this point, I don't want anything from Sears in my home since it's nearly impossible to get it fixed or get any help on an emergency situation. I've had to eat out for three weeks, which I cannot afford. I can't go another day without a refrigerator.

As I am typing this email, I received a call from a technician that he was at our home to install a part. I am flabbergasted. I informed him that someone was supposed to be there on Saturday but no one showed up. There was no one home today. He said, "So, you are telling me that I can't install this?" I said, "That is what I am telling you. No one showed up on Saturday and we found out that it was cancelled after six hours of waiting. He said, "I just install parts. I don't know anything else." I said, "Well, there is no one home. No one knew you were coming. I know that it's not your fault but this has been escalated to corporate. No one can get there because we had no idea you were coming."

At 9:45, Rowland in routing just called me apologizing. He informed me that someone cancelled the appointment for Saturday, set it up for today without letting anyone know and that should not have happened. He doesn't understand why but he realizes that this was the wrong thing to do. He said that he can have someone come first appointment on Wednesday, 07 September 2011. Meanwhile, I still have no phone call from the case manager or corporate offices. This is completely unacceptable!

Today, 07 September 2011, I just got off the phone with 1-800-469-4663 since Rowland informed me that we would be first on the appointment. But now, they informed me that I am on the schedule for tomorrow between 8 - 12. How much longer is this going to go on? I still have not received satisfaction/ resolution from the case manager. I still do not have a working refrigerator (this is Day 19) and again, we are being pushed off until another day. I feel like this is being treated as a joke. This is still completely unacceptable. I am tired of hearing "we are sorry," this is beyond being sorry.

A dog can container was actually hot to the touch from this and the unit had to be unplugged because the bulbs (from the heat) melded to the unit. After spending $2200+ for the refrigerator, you should not have to buy an extended warranty. I purchased this refrigerator right after Christmas last year when our refrigerator died. First thing I didn't like was that I had to wait nearly a week for delivery. I wasn't really happy with the layout of it after delivery, but figured I could live with it. Then as soon as the weather started warming up, we noticed the freezer foods had a "wet" feel and ice was sticking together. Upon examination, my son discovered when the cold section door was closed, the freezer door popped open! Most of the time it would close on its own but occasionally it didn't. I was glad I had paid for a Master Service Agreement with the purchase!

I called the repair service. The technician came out and made a big deal of leveling the fridge, etc. – leaving without a fix for the freezer door. I stewed for a while then called repair service again, relating what had happened on the first visit. This technician decided he would tell me how "You can fix that problem yourself". Hello! Not when I paid over $400 for someone else to fix it!

Knowing this fridge was made by LG and sold by Sears with their Kenmore name on it, I contacted LG. Meanwhile I had gone to KMart, where they sell Sears products, and tested all the Kenmore refrigerator doors. This model is the only one the freezer door "popped" open on when closing the cold section! The person, who answered my email detailing the problem, put me in touch with a Sears CEO who sent Sears' "Blue Ribbon Team" out to look at the fridge.

The technician at that time stated there was no fix for it unless LG made a stronger magnet for the freezer door, which they didn't. And though he declared, when he spoke with Sears' advocate on the phone, that the fridge was working as it should, he would also recommend 100% customer satisfaction if it were up to him. When I finally got a call back from the Sears CEO, she claimed she could not exchange the fridge because the technician stated "the fridge is working as it should".

So I am stuck with a fridge that has manufacturer defects that the manufacturer and the seller are both aware of! Even I can look at the refrigerator and see that the space between the bottom of the freezer door and the top of the cold section door is larger on the left side than the right side. Whether this has anything to do with the problem, I have no clue. But I doubt it. I’m just saying I can see it. I have copies of all email communication between myself and LG, and myself and Sears for what it's worth.

I purchased a Kenmore Elite side by side refrigerator in December 2007 for over $1100 as well as other Kenmore appliances based on reputation and reliability reports. Just yesterday--about 3 1/2 years later--the temperature control went out. The technician said the main control board had gone out and required replacement: total parts & labor comes to $450, just less than half of the original cost. The refrigerator is no longer under warranty but it seems to me that a company such as Sears that "claims" to back up their products (e.g., Kenmore) would at least admit that this is a little unusual for a high end product. I complained that this is unacceptable to have such a major problem so soon.

I requested that they adjust the cost of repair downward to something more reasonable but I got the normal scripted response that since it is not under warranty there's nothing they can do. At this point I will have to assume that if I ever purchase another Kenmore product (which I won't) then I will have to factor in the additional cost of an extended warranty at hundreds of dollars above and beyond the selling price of the product.

Ice cream is so hard, it must be left out for 15 minutes before a heavy duty scoop will even touch it. Items in the fridge keep getting froze but not every day. Eggs, gallon milk jugs, gallon KoolAid jars, juice, and soda cans in the fridge section from levels top to bottom get froze solid.

Again, I called the tech, and after very intense arguments, they agreed to send a tech. Again, I am told nothing was wrong (dials at zero and that day the fridge was not frozen). After several calls, they sent a service man. He claimed I must leave the dials set to the factory position of 0. Again, not sure why they are there if not to adjust the temperature.

Finally, I purchased a fridge thermometer. The freezer was running about -15F with the dial set at the 0 mark. I tried to adjust, and the dial made no difference. Just different temperatures on any given time or day. Ranges from -17 to -6 degrees F without changing anything. The fridge runs from 25 degrees F to 35 degrees F from any given day or hour. Technician for insurance company diagnosed that the ice maker was defective and nothing was found defective with water supply tubing to or from the refrigerator. I shut off ice maker, problem now is that the freezer continues to ice over. Refrigerator works fine, but even after thawing out freezer, it continues to ice over. What is the on-going problem? I purchased Kenmore Refrigerator Trio, model # 795.77304600, from Sears in June 2008. Unit was manufactured in March 2006. One year later, June 2009, the unit stopped working with error code ERFF showing. I called Sears and a repairman came out about 2 days later. He said he replaced a board and told us if it hadn't been under warranty it would have cost $550. Eleven months later, the unit did the same thing. This time Sears said it wasn't under warranty. Since the symptoms and error code were the same, I figured repair costs would be $550 minimum and I didn't want to sink this into a refrigerator only two years old with a bad track record so far.

So I started reading about the error code on the Internet and found, unfortunately, much information about the poor quality of these Kenmore Trio / LG models. Apparently, due to unethical practices by LG, the dehumidifier fan doesn't run often enough to keep ice from forming around the freezer fan, hence the error code "FF". The freezer fan moves cold air to the refrigerator and in line with this apparent problem is that we hear the fan making a loud noise before the unit fails- which is the fan hitting ice. Whenever we hear this noise, (if we hear it- sometimes we're either sleeping or not home when it happens) we unplug the unit and open the freezer drawer for an hour or so. Often, this melts enough ice that we get several weeks of good performance.

When this doesn't work, we go to work chipping and melting the ice off the back of the freezer compartment around the hole leading to the fan. Sometimes the unit quits and gives us the FF error code if we don't get to the ice problem quickly enough. When this happens we work on the ice AND unplug electrical cord. Unplugging it for several minutes usually resets the error code. Attacking the ice and unplugging / replugging the electrical cord several times has allowed us to keep using the unit but it is a major pain. What a piece of junk. We paid almost $2000 for a refrigerator that requires manual ice removal 5-6 times each year. I'll never buy a Kenmore or LG refrigerator again and will work hard to convince my relatives and friends to avoid these brands.

In 2007, I purchased a Kenmore bottom freezer refrigerator with model # 79577309600. On November 14, 2010, my wife smelled burning plastic in our kitchen. Upon opening the refrigerator doors which are side by side, we noticed the entire light fixture and control panel hanging from the top of the fridge in melted plastic. The lights were on for God knows how long and the bulbs were too hot to touch. I unplugged the refrigerator, unscrewed the control unit assembly, and removed the light fixture that is simply plugged into the digital control unit. I got larger screws and some washers so I could re-mount the control unit minus the light fixture and see if the refrigerator would still work. It did. I did not simply trust just removing the bulbs.

In Sears, they were able to tell me nothing other than the model information and year of my purchase and warranty expiration which is 2008. They had no information on a recall but I figured it would cost me more for a service call than it would to do the job myself. I would simply need a part number. Now after reading many of the same complaints on this site, I am not so sure I wish to do that even. I have also removed the bulb from the freezer compartment for fear of it happening there as well.

I have read posts here by other consumers who have had a replacement part installed only to have the unit malfunction again a short time after. We were fortunate this incident happened while we were home and I do not want to risk a fire. We will do without lights in the fridge for as long as we can and purchase a new fridge when we feel it is time. Rest assured it won’t be a Kenmore/LG brand.

It was approximately 4 years old at the time. It was replaced under an extended warranty we purchased. Today, it has started to leak again in the same way. A small pin-hole leak in the tank. They are going to replace it again but probably with the same part. This seems to be a design flaw in either the amount of pressure used or the tank fabrication. I see this happening every year or so and eventually when it is out of warranty. No damage was done as we have a tile floor and saw the water soon after it started leaking both times. Like others who own this fridge, the lights stayed on while the door was closed. I am not sure if the fan stopped working also but it was extremely warm inside the fridge when I opened it. It was warm enough that it melted not only hard foods, but also the plastic pieces surrounding the light bulbs. The plastic covering the bulbs warped. I had products wrapped with paper/plastic on the top shelf which were all very hot to touch. This could have easily caused a fire.

I've past the 1-year manufacturer's warranty and clearly this is a defect with the product, and I should not have to pay for the repairs. I called Sears who were only eager to get a technician out, so they can get an easy $70 from me. I also called Kenmore/LG and they could not do anything as it wasn't part of the recall list. She also said in order for a recall to occur, it would need to be initiated by CPSC. Why this has not been recalled by them yet is ludicrous when I see consumers throughout the internet complaining about the same issue for a couple years now.

Anyway, I reported this to CPSC. If anyone else out there had the same issue, I suggest you report it to CPSC as well, so hopefully they get enough complaints to finally do something about this. By the way, the last recall I show for this fridge was back in 2005 due to a condenser fan motor failure caused by a failed capacitor arcing and smoking. Whether or not this is what caused my incident, I'm not sure, but clearly there's some history with overheating with these refrigerators.

On July 06, 2008, I purchased a Kenmore tri-door refrigerator/freezer, model 795.78412.800. I was aware that several manufacturers supply appliances under the Kenmore name. I specifically stated that I wanted a fridge manufactured by Whirlpool. Absolutely not by LG. Assurance was given that only Whirlpool supplied this product to Sears. I did not purchase an extended warranty because of my past experiences with Whirlpool and with Sears. (1) It was several months later that I learned that my unit was an LG! I received letters from both Sears and LG explaining the issue with the energy efficiency claim. I called both and someone (I truly don't recall who) came out and replaced the computer board. (2) I had numerous issues with temperature control and was told that the system used air from the freezer to control the fridge and that I just needed to keep adjusting until I got it where I was satisfied! The fridge would go from warm (pork chops became slimy overnight) to freezing (veggies hard as an ice cube, beer was good and cold!).

    (3) In June of 2009, after numerous months of dealing with temperature issues, the freezer formed ice crystals and the unit ran continually. A technician came (gave me a 4-hour time frame) and said that I had gotten something caught in closing the freezer and this caused the unit to run. He thawed it out, we cleaned up the mess, and then he discovered that the entire freezer unit had been installed incorrectly. The unit would never have worked. That was the problem with the temperature issues. I didn't argue with him about the initial statement. Nothing had gotten caught in the door. This was the last day of the 1 year warranty. (4) July 7: The next day an error sign on the outside display was still on. I called Sears and was told they would need to send someone out and since my warranty was expired, I would be charged the service call. I exploded. My call to LG resulted in the same answer. My call to Sears' customer service proved worse. My neighbor who sells appliances told me how to reset the sensor. The technician had failed to reset it, thus the continued error message. I asked that my unit be replaced. The technician and a call to Sears said that it could not be replaced. My problems with temp control continued through Christmas 2009. I could not rely on food being properly kept in either the fridge or the freezer.

    (5) February 27, 2010: The unit is only 18 months old. Everything in the fridge is frozen again. Calls went nowhere until I gave in and agreed to pay a service call. I was told that I could purchase a 1-year warranty for about $250, which would most likely be less than the service call, and that it would cover all repairs for 1 year. No other information. Finally, I agreed to purchase this warranty. On February 27-10, two sensors in the fridge were not installed properly. One was actually shoved up into the air flow channel. The upper lining in the freezer had dropped down and was causing irregular air flow. Both items were on the defect list from LG. They were to be checked only if the customer called for something else! Total service call: $238, covered by my new $250 warranty. On March 17, the freezer temperature was really falling! It was determined a thermostat in the fridge (same one that was found to be shoved up into the channel) is bad. I have to order the part. On March 22, the part was installed. It cost $400, but it’s again covered. On April 20, the freezer is at 28, the fridge is at balmy 45. Temps are set at zero and 38. I ordered a new motherboard (PCB), same thing that was the initial problem, to be installed on the 28th. The part wasn't available, I don't know when or from whom the part will be shipped. On April 27, Sears agreed to reimburse me $200 for food loss (a small fraction of actual losses for 18 months). May 6, I received the parts. I had been without a fridge for 3 weeks. May 8, they installed the PCB. The technicians have stopped giving me a copy of the costs. May 17, the fridge was back to 28, frozen veggies. Left fridge sensor (same one that was misinstalled) was ordered. May 22, left thermostat installed. Let everything settle down for a few days.

May 28, the original tech from February decided to go from top to bottom and compare part numbers with the list on his computer. That PCB thing was the wrong one! It’s been replaced 2 times and appears the right one had never been put in. June 8, the part finally arrived and is to be installed tomorrow. I shall see. I have been totally without a fridge for the better part of 2 months. My neighbor sent a loaner to me this week. All this time, I have been constantly calling Sears all the way to their Escalation Department. I have spoken with managers at the store, talked with numerous people, they all agreed that this thing should have been replaced when it began having a problem. All the problems have been documented as problems by LG. But no one will replace this Alliance: my "warranty" was purchased after the 1 year and does not provide for replacement. Only if a single part cost more than $500 will they consider giving me a $500 credit toward another product. I paid $2000 for my fridge.

To date they have replaced virtually every part except the condenser, repaired parts that went through quality control undetected (if LG/Sears even have a QC department), spent well over $1000 on parts alone. Each appointment has required me to sit around waiting for at least 4 hours, used a good Samaritan’s loaner, and used words that would put a sailor to shame. I have had limited contact with LG (one time was enough). I purchased this item from Sears and Sears should be the one to answer for LG's mistakes. I don't know what will happen tomorrow. I do know that, fixed or not, neither company will ever get a good remark by me or get another sale. I have been a life long customer of Sears, dating back to my childhood and ordering from their catalog. Never again. Economically, I have lost full loads of fresh and frozen foods on 4 occasions. The time waiting on technicians and then again for parts to be installed have been enormous. They have probably made 14 trips, which equals to almost 60 hours of my time waiting. Add my frustration at the dozens of phone calls to customer service. The store manager has not returned my calls. This product was defective in many areas prior to being delivered to my home. Someone should take responsibility.

Kenmore refrigerator 795.77304600 lights stayed on and melted the plastic cover. I am afraid it may cause fire. Also has error code er ff and is not cooling. I understand LG made this fridge. I think it should be fixed for free since a lot have this same problem.

Have a french door Kenmore Elite fridge that we bought, along with several other Sears appliances in 2006. The other morning, my wife got up to find the light assembly melted, just like so many others have reported on this site. I called Sears home service line, gave them my model number and told them the problem. They wanted to send a tech out for a service call at my expense. I told them that wasn't good enough and passed on the offer. I got all my paperwork together (print outs from the similar complaints on this site, as well as photos of the damage and any unscrew-able melted pieces and put all the kids in the truck to go have it out with the manager at Sears.)

I first stopped by the parts/service department at Sears and the guys behind the desk looked up the Service Flash mentioned by "Lynn of Sacramento" on this site. The new Service Flash number is SF46-515R4. They told me to call home service and give them that number and they should send a tech out, no charge. The next day there was at tech at my door (nice guy, been to my house before to fix my also new washer), he ordered the parts and told me that it would be a no charge deal. Whew! All you people with the melting light assembly issue, call Sears home repair and give the, the service flash number SF46-515R4! It should fix your woes.

What's funny is, when I called Sears Home Service the first time and gave them my model number and problem, the guy didn't say boo about there being a service flash for my type of problem. He just wanted to set up an appointment for me to pay for a tech to come out. Perhaps all would have been fixed in the end had I agreed to it, but still who knows. Thank God you people were here with your reports on this site to set me in the right direction. No major economic consequences since I was clued in on what to do (hooray Consumer Affairs!). My fridge has melted plastic and scorched light sockets, but the tech said they will be replaced. If there is such a problem with these units, then I should have been notified by Sears prior to the problem.

We purchased a Kenmore Refrigerator 22.6 cu.ft French Door Trio Bottom Freezer last 8/5/08. On 2/28/10 (approximately 18 months later), the entire unit shut down, no lights, no cooling, no warning and on a Sunday. On Monday, we called Sears repair but no one could come for 3 days. We contacted another service tech. who was able to come that afternoon. It was determined that the main PCB control board fuse had blown. This part is made by LG with a fuse that is soldered in, so that the entire board would need to be replaced.

The part must come from LG which has limited distribution. The part arrived and was replaced on Saturday, six days later. We paid approx. $1,300.00 for the unit and we expected to get trouble free use of it for at least 5 years. Sears has previously been known for good quality products but now, they are using parts that are not readily available if there is a problem. We had no refrigerator for six days and a service bill of $164.22 for parts and $130.00 labor plus loss of food. I doubt we will ever use Sears again.

I purchased a Kenmore Trio Model 795.7759600 3 door refrigerator in 2006. Last week, I noticed a smell from the refrigerator. Finally I realized the refrigerator lights were staying on when the refrigerator was closed. The light fixture was very hot and had melted the light fixture components and bubbled the plastic of the refrigerator lining under the light fixture.

Sears was called and I was connected with the complaint department. I was told that there was a service flash and they would reimburse me for the parts I had ordered and also pay for the service call and any damaged food. Service tech called and stated the service flash is only good for 3 years so I would have to pay cash. Based on what I read on this website, I do not understand why there was no recall for this model series since many consumers have experienced the same problem. Based on what I read, this is a potentially hazardous problem.

Luckily, I was home after a few hours away that day. Sears was once a reputable company that would take care of issues like this. I guess they no longer care. If I cannot resolve this with them, it will mean that I will no longer purchase their products or any other product from them. The consumer is the loser as usual. Some of the items in my refrigerator were damaged as was the liner of my refrigerator. Components related to interior lights were melted and must be replaced.

We have a Kenmore model 106.53662300 side by side refrigerator and on Jan. 31, 2010, we saw smoke coming from behind the refrigerator. The relay switch to the compressor had burned and luckily we got it removed before it ignited. This sounds like the same hazard recalled by Maytag. There is no damage because we were present at the time, however we tried to order parts and were told it would be 15 days before they could be shipped. Food will have to be relocated somewhere.

The Kenmore 106 side by side refrigerator freezes vegetables. It can not be repaired. It has a major design flaw according to the service tech from Sears and there are many consumer complaints about this product. Sears is unresponsive! A horrible $2,000 refrigerator with a major design flaw!

I bought this refrigerator from Sears model # 795-77562600. It is a beautiful refrigerator but is definitely a lemon. I have maintained a service plan on it since I bought it, thus repairs have been minimal for me.

    1. The rollers on the meat keeper were broken. I ordered the part from Sears and installed them my self rather that get a service call.
    2. Then I received a check from LG (uncashed) with a letter stating that this refrigerator was not energy star rated as advertised. Consumer Reports article states that the energy use was more than double what they tested because LG had misled them. I am very angry as energy use is important to me.
    3. Ice maker began to not work. It would make huge amounts of ice that would fall all over the floor when the door was opened and than would make no ice for a while. We had the service man out and he could find nothing wrong. We also had broken rollers on the produce drawers. He ordered them.
    4. Ice maker continued to have problems Once more we called service and he ordered a new ice maker after assessing it. At the time we told the service man that the refrigerator was making a noise like a vibration periodically. He took the back off and could see no problem.
    5. The produce in the drawers and on the bottom shelf freezes. We have thrown out much dollars worth of produce. Service ordered a shelf that goes inside the drawer but for only 1 drawer. There is condensation that constantly forms on the shelves and inside of fridge.

    6. Once again, I am waiting on service to come out and install the ice maker but now my refrigerator is showing a code on the screen above the ice dispenser saying FF. I looked that up on the internet and it means Freezer fan failure. Well must be the vibration that I complained about on the last service call and they could not find a problem.

Now, I am sitting here with a refrigerator that I paid $2,500.00+ for as well as three years of service, and all the food that I have had to throw out, that does not work at all. Also, I have lights that are burned out but after reading about all the fires, I am afraid to replace it. It seems to me that prior to my model being manufactured, they had a problem with this same fan causing fires and they recalled the fridge at that time. That recall did not include this model.

Like many other unhappy customers, I also purchased the Kenmore Elite Trio 3 years ago, and mine also almost caught on fire. They were the same problems with the lights staying on, melting inside of refrigerator, and basically cooking food inside. I called Sears. They sent out their repairmen, telling me it would be $75 just to come out. Whatever, send him out. He called, and basically chuckled on the phone when I told him what happened, and he proceeded to tell me that he has changed out many over the last year. I asked him why I haven't received a recall on it, and he said they call it a rework!

Call it what you want, but why was I not notified of this serious fire hazard! I spoke with many people over a 3 hr period. They just kept blaming the manufacturer, putting me through another dept, only to get nowhere, except they will give me a 20% discount to come in and purchase another one. Right! They ordered the parts, and said they will come and fix it, but it will never be the same, my inside is melted, and I don't trust it again.

We woke up in the morning to find our 3-year-old (overpriced) Kenmore Elite Trio refrigerator was not cooling our food. The freezer seemed fine, so we called Sears service and scheduled a repair appointment for that same day. In the meantime, we removed the food to cool elsewhere. A few hours later, I opened the doors to check the temperature inside the fridge and found the light cover hanging down. The light bulb sockets were brown and scorched. Apparently the lights were not turning off when the refrigerator doors were closed. After searching through reviews online, this is a very common problem.
