I had a wood floor installed by Empire in the main level at my home and everything has been good. However, it seemed like I heard a little creak, like one or two of the boards might be a little loose, but I’ll recheck it and I’ve got to find out the warranty.

Empire Today installed the laminate floors, carpeting, and tile in our house. It was the convenience of somebody coming out and being available that we chose them. The installers were probably private contractors but they seem to take pride in their installation of all three products. There was kind of a language barrier at a couple of places. But other than that, our overall experience was very remarkable and we're enjoying it a lot. I have recommended them to a neighbor already.

One of my neighbors is a sales person for Empire Today so I talked to her and she came over and brought me samples. I picked out what I wanted and they came in the next week and tore out the carpet, put the laminate wood flooring all down in our living room and it’s beautiful. I like the color and the ease of keeping the space clean. I've got cats and wanted that carpet out of there. I took off work on the day they came in. The installers were great. They showed up on time, kept their little cutting machine up front, and went to work. It was awesome! They cleaned up after themselves and put the furniture back. Empire Today is very professional and I would use them again. I have a large home, and I would like to get rid of all the carpet in it, and as soon as I have the funds, I will have the other rooms done.

After waiting for an extremely long time our carpet for stairs and runners arrived only to find out the salesman had not measured correctly and the carpet would have to be reordered but would be expedited. Waited again, no carpet. Called Empire and they could not tell me when the carpet would be in. I asked to cancel the order as this carpet is for wood stairs in a new home. We are senior citizens and it is a dangerous situation for us. I asked for my money to be returned so that I could order from somebody who could install. I was told I would be contacted by the Cancellation Dept. So far, that hasn't happened either. Left no choice but to dispute this through my bank. This is no way to do business. They will also require payment before the carpeting goes in if you are having binding done. Another bad practice. Would not recommend this company.
Hi Linda, we regret the delay in completing your installation, and we understand your frustration. We understand that we've spoken with you and agreed to cancel the portion of the order that has not been done, as well as process the refund. Please don't hesitate to contact us at customersupport@empiretoday.com if you have any additional questions or concerns. Thank you.

The carpet guys and the Empire Today carpet itself are awesome. They did a great job but the salesperson who represented the company screwed up. We're in the process of repairing some credit things. We figured my wife was okay because she had just recently received some credit and he said no, they won't do it. And then he went to mine and mine was accepted but before we did that I asked him what we were looking at for payment on $2500 through their credit place. He tried one place and it didn't work then he tried Fortiva and Fortiva accepted me. He told me the payments were under around $88. He made me feel comfortable and that everything was great so we went for it.
Then the letter came in the mail and my payment is $164 a month so that's exactly double and that's the minimum payment. And I'm locked into it. If I screw this up, there goes my credit again, which I'm trying to repair so Empire Today as far as representing their company is not so good. Their people who sell this stuff really need to know more about the financing end of it and let people know upfront that because their credit isn't that great, it's probably going to be 150 bucks a month. If he'd have told me that, I wouldn't have gotten it. He knew so he scammed me into thinking that it will be okay.
Empire also couldn't do anything for me to get that payment lowered. The other thing is I also told them to make my payment on the 3rd as that's when I get my Social Security Disability check and he said, “Oh, I don't think that'll be a problem.” But on the 28th of last month, they said my payment was due and that's going to make me late if I don't pay it. There goes my credit, first payment, late. So I called Fortiva and finally got them to say that they will process everything on the 6th, to move my payment to the 3rd after I make this first payment which is extremely inconvenient for me. I had to go out and borrow money to make a payment not to screw my credit up.

Before choosing Empire Today, we got two estimates and looked at the materials from other companies. Empire was a little bit more expensive but the representative that came out was very knowledgeable and informative about the products. We had floors installed in our all-purpose and living room and the hallway.

A friend who had Empire Today put in a carpet for him was really pleased with their product and service, and so we thought we'll do Empire too. We owned a rental that we fixed up to sell and had them install a carpet throughout that house other than the kitchen and the bedroom. The girl from Empire who came out was nice, and the carpet was put in the next day.
If I had it in my house, I would have wished that I had upgraded a bit because the carpet tamped down quickly. It was nice and didn't look cheap, but it doesn't take long for it to look crushed down after I vacuumed it. If that were my own home, I would be a bit disappointed because the flooring looks like it needs to be vacuumed again soon. It shows too much of the footpath or footwear and I would rather have had a carpet that didn't.

I like Empire Today. I've used them for the carpeting in the bedroom. They offered a halfway decent deal for the size room they put in and the salesman wasn't pushy. It didn't start out well with Empire Today because they lost their invoice. From the beginning, it was a paperwork snafu. The salesman set it up for a Tuesday then I didn't hear anything. I called a week later and they said they had not scheduled it. As for the installation, we talked about the tricky spots and they told me they'd do the best they could and they did a good job. It turned out well and I had a big rock fireplace and a nice fitment along the floor on the fireplace. I'm very satisfied.

Empire had a special deal and I had them to install neutral laminate flooring in January. We got a good deal and we’ll gladly keep the guys in mind. The floor is okay but the side mold could be better and I didn’t realize ‘till afterward. But everything is good otherwise. It doesn’t really match up with the window molding that was on the house.

Took the day off work for the install. By 9 am on install day having had no notification of approximate time of arrival I began to call the company. It took 3 calls between 9 and 1 pm to finally get a time. Said my installers were finishing another job and would be here between 2 and 4. At 4:39 they roll in. "How long is this going to take" I ask. "Only a couple of hours" was the reply. It's now 9:11 pm and they're nowhere near being done. I'd really like to go to bed tonight but I have another 2 hours at least to get my bedroom put back together. This is ridiculous. Oh update. They just informed me that they do not have enough carpet to finish the stairs. They'll be back tomorrow. Luckily they collected the balance payment first thing! (She says sarcastically).

I had a laminate from Empire Today installed in my home. The cost was a little bit higher than the other variants, but one of the main reasons we picked Empire was because of the name that we knew would get a good warranty and everything with it. We've had a bit of a problem upstairs when we were waiting for the installers to come and take care of the transition strip, but in general, they have very good quality, and the installers did a very good job as far as all the finishing and the details.

They came to my house to do the measurement for my living room then the guy ask me for a deposit that he assured me was refundable. Later, I found something cheaper so I cancel my order with them. I have been calling them for the past two months about my deposit. All they do is lie, and every time I call, each representative tells me something totally different from the previous one. I guess they do not want to give me my money back. I would not recommend them to no one. Do not call this company. Look for other companies that keep their words. I do not want to go through that again.
Updated on 04/06/2016: They sent me a check that I have been waiting for 2 months with wrong name spelling, then I sent it back to them the next day hoping that they would have take into consideration that I have been waiting for so long. I had Empire Today install a beautiful, custom-made rug which had to be ordered, and I had to wait for it. And about a year ago, my mother must have dropped something very heavy on the brick linoleum kitchen floor so I glued it down with hard glue and it was okay. But in the fall this past year, I come downstairs, and my mother was whipping the floor up in big, huge pieces. I told her that the floor had asbestos in it, and that the GIF floor people were not in business now. So I glued it down again in all different pieces, and it was so bad, it was like the map of the United States. I had to put a rug over it so that our little Yorkie wouldn’t touch it.
But my mother kept on ripping it, so I had to call Empire Today and I talked to Jay to provide a rug for the porch. I had a very good rapport with him and I like him very much. I told him I need to get a new floor so he came down and showed me all the different kinds of flooring that they offer. I was going to get engineered wood and then I was sort of talked out of that by the hardware store guy. He told me, "You know if you do a lot of cooking, and you have pets, it's not very good because it's hard to take care of." He said, “I would go with the tile.” I said, “Yeah, but if you dropped a dish, that will crack” because we had beautiful tile in our bathroom.
So he suggested that I go with the vinyl flooring. He said that it looks just like real wood and it's beautiful and easy to take care of. So that’s where I went with. My insurance company paid for most of it and I only had to pay for $120. The engineered wood wouldn’t have been that much more, but because it would have been harder to take care of, I decided it wouldn’t be good for me.
Our new flooring is beautiful and I love it. They did a floating floor because if you had to take the old flooring out, you don’t know what kind of asbestos would be in there. That thing would fly to the air and we didn’t want to take any chances plus we couldn’t leave the house. We just did it right over and you can't even tell so it looks great. My cousin was over on Sunday and she said, “God, this is beautiful.” It matches with the color of the wood that I have in the dining room. The only thing is that they scrape my door a little bit so I had my handyman fix it. Overall, my experience with Empire Today has been very good. They were very accommodating and nice.

Empire Today installed hardwood downstairs and carpet upstairs in my entire house. The installers were all good. However, we have wooden tracks that are sliding. With the hardwoods, they're sliding too and separating. The trim around the hardwoods in one area is coming off the walls. So far, I'm satisfied, but I'll see how they would handle these things.

Empire Today didn't tell on TV that only certain types of laminates get 50% off. When the guy got here, he showed me the best. I ended up spending $8,500 for three rooms. My insurance agent came and he thought that the linoleum that was put in was real wood. I spent a lot of money, but I'm pleased because everything came out so nice. I would definitely recommend them to a friend.

Empire Today installed laminate in our home. I also had carpeting installed by Empire, so I called them for the laminate. I like the new flooring. It was put down well, it's very easy to keep clean and it looks nice. I like Terry, the salesman. He was very nice and spent the time, I didn't care for the first samples that he brought in and I told him I like something lighter and he brought in another set of samples. The guys who laid the flooring did a good job as well. They didn't bring enough the first day, so they had to come back the next day and finish it. That didn't cause a huge problem, it could've if I wasn't here, and that's something that Empire could look into. They were very nice and I had no other problems other than that. It was an excellent experience, and I would definitely call Empire if I needed flooring again.

Empire Today did a nice work. I had laminate put in through the whole house, and the installation and finishing work were superb. The people who did it were polite, wonderful, and did it very quickly. They have to work on 1,600 square feet and they finished it in two days. We’re elderly and it was a lot of work for us. However, I'm not very pleased that the laminate we have smudges and marks very easily. Because of that, I’m at it all day every day. So I called the company and they told me to buy one of those laminate cleaners and it works. But it’s a lot of maintenance because it’s through the whole house - the great room, the kitchen, and the hallway.

I called Empire Today on a Friday and a salesman came the following week. We discussed what I wanted to accomplish and he showed me samples. I accepted and two men came and put down the rugs the following week. I was very pleased. One salesman measured the doors, but apparently they couldn't continue because the doors had to be shaved at the bottom. So another week passed and one man came back. He carried the doors down the steps and he shaved them off. All this work was done outside, and he did it thoroughly, so I appreciated that. And everything worked fine - the doors are sliding side to side. I was very pleased that he came back. I paid extra for that, but it had to be done ‘cause the doors couldn’t be put back the way they were. One was left in place, but then they decided they couldn’t do the rest until the bottom of the doors were cut.
Today I have the maids coming in and they are vacuuming. I think there’s a certain amount of dust still within the rugs, and I just wanted a thorough vacuuming just to see if that tones down the dust created from the rugs. I don’t have a cold when I’m downstairs, but when I’m upstairs my nose runs. So I thought maybe if they did wipe down the walls and vacuumed the carpeting that that might reduce some of the obviously loose dust that might still be in the air. All in all, it was a good experience and done expeditiously.

Empire Today installed laminate wood in my home. It was a very good sale so I saved a lot of money, which I appreciate, but they didn’t deliver what they said. I wasn’t given any instructions on the flooring's maintenance and the installers had to delay because of the paperwork on Empire's end. They say that Empire does that all the time and the contractors have to wait. I waited for almost two hours for them to come and pick up a piece of paper and then go back.
I am very happy with the way the flooring looks, but don’t like the cleaning maintenance problems that I have. I have to struggle to clean it. They said it was easy to maintain and care for, and I didn’t know that I was going to have a problem with the smudges. It’s a lot harder for me to clean than I thought it would be. When I use a spray, it leaves spots that don’t come off. I want to see it nice, but instead, I see little marks which I don’t like, and I don’t know why it’s doing that. If I don’t do anything or give it any cleaning product on it, it might even turn into cardboard. I have rug mats where I clean my feet to avoid any dirt, moisture or water from the rain. I protect the flooring that much, but I still need a lot of dusting, and I do it every day.
Also, I’m concerned about where it is from because it is synthetic and there is news about people discovering that they were getting some kind of sickness from their flooring. The salesperson who was Asian didn't tell me if the flooring was from a company here and what was in them. And looking back, I don’t know if I would get synthetic acrylic. It’s nice and cheaper, but a lot of hard work to clean - much more than what they told me.
The salesperson was not very efficient in giving me the proper information. He said they were going to put one side, knock the wall off on the floor and the floor off in the dining room, and the other part will be left on because that can be put on top of it. They took it all off, so he was dead wrong and at the last minute, they were going to charge me $300 to take it out. He didn’t know how to put in floors. Empire should have somebody who knows a little bit about their product and how to maintain them before they try selling them. Also, he wasn’t as polite as I would want him to have been, but it was okay. He wasn’t direct. I asked him to check to see what credit amount we have left. We used it and charged the difference. I paid it out cash, and thought I had paid it all off already, but the he didn’t estimate it correctly.
I would recommend Empire because of the installers who were really nice and experts in flooring. They were excellent and did a professional job. They told me what product to get and what to use, they did it here, and that was what I’ve been doing. These good contractors make the company look good. However, they should look into the paperwork and sales people who don’t really know the technical part of their products and hire people who know the product, how to do floors and explain how to maintain it.

We ordered carpet through Empire Today on 3/5/16 and set our installation date for 3/8/16. We received a call from Empire stating the time frame they will arrive for installation. We were worried because it had been raining all morning and thought that Empire was going to cancel our installation. They didn't cancel, but instead the installers showed up and one of them refused to enter our home because we have a dog. The dog was indeed locked in the cage and out of sight, nowhere near where they would be working.
When we originally set the installation date it was notated that dogs would be present, so why send an individual that is not comfortable with dogs. The installers then asked my husband to come outside and verify that the carpet is the correct carpet and when he did it was soaked from the rain and they still wanted to install it. This was unacceptable so my husband called customer service to inform them of the situations that were going on. The gentleman he spoke with in customer service was very rude and not helpful at all. He had to call back to get another representative for help.
This type of service for such a reputable company is unacceptable. They then proceeded to tell us that they weren't able to get anyone out to install until the following week now and then continued to change the dates even further out. Finally we settled on the same week but for Friday. Mind you my husband has been at work all night and had to wait up all morning for the installers to arrive in the first place. This experience has made us think about cancelling our entire order and finding another company to install our carpet.

The gentlemen who installed my floor were the best. They were so respectful and my floor turned out perfect. They installed vinyl in my kitchen, laundry room, and bathroom with no seams. Every single piece of mess was picked up and taken away. I could not have asked for anything any better. They were the BEST.

From the salesperson to the installers, this was a great experience. Everyone was on time, called when they were supposed to, and worked quickly and efficiently. I felt the cost was appropriate and the product is of high quality. I would definitely recommend Empire to a friend.

The family floor installation itself and the quality of the product were very good. However, the salesman promised me a natural wood color quarter round. We actually had quite a lengthy discussion of the fact that I did not want white. He insisted he had a color of brown that would match my fireplace. I did not see the job until after the installers were finished and saw that the molding was indeed a creamy color instead of brown. I signed off on it even though I was not pleased with the way it looks. I made this remark in the first survey I was sent and I had someone call me in response to my negative comment. I was offered a choice of having it replaced or be given a $75 credit/refund on the job.
Someone then called me from Empire and after several phone calls I was told that there was no molding like I was promised (Even though I already the molding I wanted in three other rooms that Empire has done!). This individual stated that she spoke with the salesman and he denied that he had promised me brown molding. I then indicated that I would accept the $75 credit. This person, as well as her supervisor both LIED and said they checked the tapes of my conversation with the responder from the survey and they could find no place where I was promised a refund. Empire has since lost any future business from me, as well as word of mouth recommendations. I have three other bedrooms to be getting new flooring and I will NEVER use of recommend Empire again. I HOPE THE $75 WAS WORTH LOSING, NOT ONLY A CUSTOMER, BUT FUTURE RECOMMENDATIONS AS WELL.

I am absolutely disappointed with the installation of my new laminate flooring. The installers came and put the floor in but failed to mention anything about bad subfloors so when I checked my new floors they were squeaky everywhere, bouncy in some spots and even a hill in one bedroom. They never put the white gloss trim like it states in my flooring specification sheet. When I called to complain the idiot manager on shift first tells me they don't replace subfloors which is a LIE, and even if they didn't replace them they should notify me to tell me to replace them before they can do the job. Instead they put floor down which now needs to be redone and they want to send the same people who messed up the first time. It's unacceptable. My family now has our life on hold while we wait to get our floor fixed... oh and they want to charge us extra even after their mistakes.

Empire has a better price compared to other places, and the carpet was of good quality as well. When we made the appointment, they came right away the very next day and helped us with everything that we needed. They gave great service. We had the carpet installed on the second floor in the two bedrooms and a den, which is like a small living room. Recently, one of the workers came to check our kitchen floor as we're thinking of remodeling it. He was very nice and helpful.

Absolutely the worst service and experience. I would give ZERO stars if I could. I wish I had checked Yelp first! It started out feeling really good. We had a sales guy Robert who was very nice. I liked the price and product he presented, so we SIGNED A CONTRACT for the work to be done on 3/5 with the condition that we move the stove, fridge, and toilet ourselves. Done deal, we were happy. We moved all of the appliances and removed the toilet the evening of 3/4, and the next morning we got up and awaited the crew's arrival. And waited. And waited.
And finally, an hour after they were supposed to show up, I get a call from a man named Darnell letting me know that the technician who was supposed to do our flooring ran into an unexpected delay in a different job, and would not be able to do our floors that day. (Please note that this was a total LIE because Empire does not do overnight jobs! There is no possible way that this could be true) I became quite upset and advised Darnell that we had already removed our toilet, and that he needed to get someone out there today. Darnell refused, continuing to claim that there was no one to send and nothing he could do about it.
He offered to have someone come out Monday 3/7, or Saturday 3/12. My husband and I both work full time and there was NO WAY we were going to lose a full day's pay because of their incompetence. So, after discussing with my husband, we agreed that a reasonable solution would be to have them come out on Saturday 3/12. In the meantime we would put the toilet back. Our conditions were that they would take $100 off the job, and they would remove the appliances and put them back themselves. Reasonable right? (especially considering that this would require that we purchase another seal for the toilet) WRONG!
They were willing to take some money off the job, but not to move the appliances. We were going to be required to do it ourselves AGAIN. Now would be a good time to mention that they charge $40 per appliance, so they would have charged us $240 to do what we have now done TWICE. At this point I was thoroughly pissed and disgusted, so I called Robert the sales guy. He was very empathetic, and said he would call the office to work something out for me. A little while later I got a call back from Robert letting me know that he was willing to come to our home to supervise the job on Monday. This way we wouldn't have to wait a week, and we wouldn't need to put the toilet back on in the meantime and have to buy that replacement part, and we wouldn't have to miss work. This is in addition to removing $100 off the job.
We were annoyed with the company as a whole at this point, but this seemed an acceptable compromise. (Please also note that Darnell told Robert that the tech that was supposed to do the work was MIA and not picking up his phone! No call, no show. So that line about the "unexpected delay on another job" was a load of hogwash and a total LIE).
Today is 3/7. My husband stayed at the house this morning waiting for Robert to show up so he could let him in. After no contact from Robert, my husband gave him a call. What a shocker to learn that Robert has 2 appointments this morning! One at 9, and one at 11, and neither are anywhere near our house! So he had NO INTENTION of actually showing up this morning! None. Needless to say we have cancelled the whole job.
This company does not deserve our business. We are working to have my deposit refunded and we will go all the way up to the CEO of Empire and drag their @sses before the Better Business Bureau to get it back if we have to. Empire, please note, we have told EVERYONE WE KNOW ABOUT THIS. Everyone. Our friends and family, our personal banker, the cashier at Save Mart, our neighbors, our co-workers, EVERYONE. My husband is an account manager for a property management company, and guess who he's going to tell all of his clients and associates not to use? YOU. My mother-in-law is having her entire 3600 sq ft home re-floored this summer. She was planning on using you, but after hearing our story, guess what flooring company she will never ever use? That's right, YOU. Good luck keeping your doors open. If this is how you do business I don't think you will be around much longer.

Approximately a little over 2 years we had hardwood floors installed from Empire. Loved the floors until maybe 6 months later. Noticed the finish peeling in a certain area. Because it was a high volume area, didn't really think too much into it. Now almost 2 years into it there are MANY other spots where the finish is peeling. Called Empire to come and inspect the product but was told they charge almost a $100 to just come out and inspect it. $100! Just to look at it??? Never was told this by the salesman nor told when I made the initial appointment for Empire to come out again. Ridiculous! If a company stands by their products then why charge a high fee to just inspect it? We had considered of having them do carpet or another product throughout the rest of the house but not after this.
Updated 4/4/2016 - After back and forth with Empire Today over engineered hardwood floors that the finish started peeling off they sent out an 'independent' floor inspector to take pictures and view the damaged floors. The inspector findings were the floors were damaged by dogs. When I purchased these floors we were told by Empire salespeople that these floors were and are the best for people who have dogs, and high traffic areas. Now Empire is back-stepping. I received a call today from their GM D. ** asking if they could replace the floors with ceramic tile or another type of laminate, they want to fix this problem. Better fix it with a refund before the local news media investigation team comes and starts filming what a scam they are, how they mislead their clients.

In September 2015, we contracted with Empire to have carpeting, laminate, and ceramic tile done in three separate areas of our home. The work was to start in mid-October and we were told it would take a week. It ended up taking more than three weeks, and was left unfinished. After a couple of months of trying to deal with the problems with the installation, the repairs were finally finished in February. However, despite the company telling us that they would discuss some compensation for all the delays, shoddy work, and aggravation, they have not yet been willing to talk about it.
It is now going on five months since the work was started, and they have not taken any steps to try to provide some recompense for a process that has been extremely annoying and required us to take time off work, over and over, in order to be present for work on the floors. We avoided posting bad reviews in hopes that the company would treat us fairly, but we are at the end of our patience. If I could give this business lower than 1 star I certainly would. Horrible from start to finish. The only good part of this was the lady that came out to measure everything. We were set to have our vinyl flooring installed in 3 rooms for Monday morning (29 Feb) but they never showed up. They told us that they "guess" one of the installers quit or something because he was MIA (missing in action). After much arguing (oh this is after we already paid for everything), we were able to get a new install date for the next day on Tuesday.
(Today 1 March) They came out like they were supposed to but first of all they drove a van that looked like it should have been giving free candy to the children in the neighborhood (yeah one of those kinds), they had no decals and were very unprofessional. They sent 2 guys to do all the work whose first language was obviously not English. They did not say what they were there for or would confirm the purchase but just went "straight to work". They started out by putting a level on the floor and saying "oh this isn't level", then they tore up some of the old tiles in the dining area, and then said "oh we can't do the job". They didn't even replace the tiles that they tore up. They were on their cellphones just about the entire time doing God knows what, and were very very unprofessional. I have called and left messages with the installation manager John, and was told that he would return my call but never has yet. I am not surprised to be honest.
The rest of the country looks like they have good reviews for Empire but not the Tampa location. I wish this location in Tampa would just go away. They do not do anything anyways. Short version: Empire gave me bad advice, cost me dollars out-of-pocket and, when they realized their error, canceled the job on the morning. It was supposed to be done and left me hanging. No one followed-up and ultimately my five calls to the customer service manager were never returned. Bottom line: As soon as they realized that they gave me bad advice and weren't going to be able to do the job for me, I was ignored. The fact that I incurred out-of-pocket costs due to their erroneous advice was of no concern to them. "Sorry for the bad news," as the installers walked out of my home, was the extent of their response to the poor way of handling my situation and my out-of-pocket costs.
Conclusion: Unfortunately, the Empire Today way of doing business with me was giving me bad advice, causing me unnecessary out-of-pocket costs, canceling my job on the day it was scheduled to be done, not following up with me or expressing any interest or concern, and then ignoring my multiple phone calls. This is totally unacceptable as far as I'm concerned. Empire Today wasted a lot of my time and money. Footnote: After the Empire debacle, I purchased the floor tiles myself and contacted a local independent contractor that was highly recommended to me. This person did an excellent job in a timely, professional fashion and cost effective manner.
Long and detailed version: I purchased my home in October and, in December, decided to replace the floor in my kitchen, bathroom and two small entryways. After doing a bit of research I spoke with three different vendors, one of which was Empire Today. I met with the Empire salesman, who impressed me as someone that was knowledgeable and professional. I met with him a few times and decided to go with porcelain ceramic tiles, paid my deposit and scheduled the installation.
To be sure there would be no problem when it was time for the installation, the salesman sent out a supervisor/installer to inspect my existing floors a few weeks before the job was scheduled to be done. I thought this was prudent on the part of my salesman, as I have an older home (built in 1920). The supervisor recommended that I go with a different flooring option -- Luxury Vinyl Tile (LVT), which I decided would make sense, based on his explanation that the kitchen floor would be a bit too high with the ceramic install. (I later discovered that this wasn't necessarily the case, but I think his advice was well-intended.) He spent about 30 to 45 minutes at my home checking out the floors, including pulling up some carpet in one room and going in the basement to see what he could tell about the subfloor, etc.
I have one bathroom in my house, and I very clearly explained to both my salesman and the installer/supervisor that I planned to remove my old sink before the floor installation and replace it with a new one, as soon as the installation was done. I was very explicit about this and made sure they knew that the timing of getting the job done was important because of this. I had my plumber remove my bathroom sink the day before the installation was scheduled. The morning that the installation was scheduled, I got a call from Empire letting me know that they did not order the grout that I requested, so they could not do the job that day, but could do it the next day. I said this was fine. I'm generally pretty laid back and these things happen, so no problem to delay the job one day. (Fortunately I could arrange to be at my house the next day, which was Friday.)
The next morning (Friday) the installers came, and after about 15 minutes told me that they could not do the job because of the condition/nature of some of the existing floor tiles that they would be replacing. (They were concerned some of them may contain asbestos.) They basically apologized for the bad news and left. My sense was that they saw the job was not a simple cookie cutter job and they didn't want any part of it, as it was an older home. But I may be mistaken about that, and I totally understand that they need to follow guidelines for safety and quality control, etc. So I don't fault them for not moving forward with the job. My expectation was that I would hear from my salesman and from Empire to apologize for the confusion and discuss alternatives. No one called on Friday and no one called on Monday, and I had my plumber put the sink back in my bathroom, as it was unclear when, or if, Empire would do the job.
Finally, I called Empire on Tuesday morning to tell customer service that I was very annoyed and I explained that: The supervisor should have discovered and addressed this issue when he was on site inspecting the job a few weeks prior, rather than the installers telling me and walking off the job. Since they didn't do the job, I had to have my sink reinstalled and then will have to have it removed again when I have the floor actually replaced. This resulted in an unnecessary cost of $300 for my plumber to do the job twice. It was ridiculous that no one had the courtesy or concern to contact me after the installers told me they would not do the job. It seemed clear that I was no longer a priority for Empire.
At that point, I was told that the manager of customer service (Darlene) would contact me, which she did, a day or two later. I explained the situation to Darlene, who seemed to understand my perspective and why I was frustrated. I explained that I wanted to further explore whether the installers were correct and whether Empire could still do the job. But irrespective of that, I wanted to be reimbursed for the cost of having my plumber remove and replace my bathroom sink an extra time. Darlene apologized for the confusion and assured me she would send an email to "corporate" to see what they would do for me. At that point, I had the sense that she understood my complaint and felt I was being reasonable to request reimbursement. In addition, Darlene told me that it should be no problem for Empire to do the job and advised how I can get approval for them to do that.
I followed up on that and found that she was mistaken. I don't think she intentionally misinformed me, but I think she just wasn't familiar with the laws in my state. From that point forward, I never heard back from Darlene, even though I called her and left voicemails for her FIVE TIMES in the course of a seven or eight day period. Not one of those calls was returned. (She did not give me her email address as she said the phone was the best way for us to communicate.) A week or two after my last attempt to contact her I received a check refunding my deposit with no mention of reimbursing the costs I incurred due to the poor manner in which Empire handled the situation.
To be clear, until the day of the job, I had no problem with my salesman or other Empire personnel. My salesman, the customer service and scheduling people, etc. were responsive and acted professionally and courteously. My complaints are regarding how I was treated as soon as it was determined that Empire would not do the job. I subsequently contacted a local independent contractor that is familiar with the law in my state and I purchased the porcelain ceramic tiles myself (the ones I originally wanted to use). He confirmed that, fortunately, the extent of concern about the existing floor tiles was not accurate and he did an excellent job and completed it in a timely and cost effective manner.
I want to emphasize that I have no problem that the installers wouldn't do the job that day due to their concerns about potential asbestos. I understand and respect the fact that they must, and should, put safety first and need to comply with all laws and company policies. Even though the problem wasn't as severe as they thought, I realize they needed to err on the side of caution. My problem is the fact that the inspector/supervisor didn't inform me of this problem over two weeks earlier when he did a thorough site inspection. Even though that was very annoying, it was just an oversight, which happens. But what I found to be unacceptable was the lack of responsiveness and concern that Empire demonstrated after this oversight was discovered.
They didn't take responsibility for mishandling it. They didn't follow-up with me to discuss alternatives. They didn't return multiple phone calls, and didn't reimburse me for the costs that I incurred due to their incompetence. Basically they said "sorry", "see you later" and "here's your deposit back". Now "don't bother us." In summary, I have been in business for a long time and I understand that we all make mistakes at some time or another. That's life and being human. But it's how we respond to, and address, those mistakes that indicate the type of businessperson someone is. And from my humble perspective, Empire failed this test miserably.

I had a small bathroom done in tile by Empire Today. I got a couple of estimates from other brands but the job was so small and Empire had a flat price, which is a little better. The installation went well. They were professional and did a good job. So far, it's great and I love it. I definitely would recommend it to a neighbor if somebody asks me about it.

They were courteous and cleaned up after themselves. I may have to call them back in to re-look at the baseboards they put in. But other than that, I'm extremely happy.

I had laminated flooring installed throughout my house by Empire Today. From what other people have told me, they seemed to be the cheapest and would do it in a quick amount of time. At that time, I had one broken leg with surgery and I wanted it done so quick because it was hard to get around. They did it in a good time and it was reasonably priced. The only thing I really didn't like is that none of them spoke English. And I don't speak Mexican or Spanish at all. But they were all polite and they worked hard. Other than that, they did a really good job.
However, I have one area in the master bedroom that the wood started to come up. I called them and they sent somebody to take that up and replace that, but I was a little upset because the floor was wet underneath when they put the new one down and that bugs me. For now, it hasn't come back up but I'm afraid that it would do it again. But so far, I'm happy with it. I would tell anybody they should call them but they need English-speaking people, at least one, so the client can communicate with them.

I had Empire many years ago and I was very pleased with it. Also, their pricing was better than Lowe’s and Home Depot, so we had them do the job for our bathroom flooring. It was a linoleum type of product. It's lovely and has exceeded my expectations. It was a little difficult to see in a swatch but it was nicer on the floor. I wasn’t sure if I was going to like it as much as I do, but I do like it. The only thing I wish that Empire did have was more samples to show.

I decided to try this company despite some of the negative reviews about some of their practices. The sales associate was very nice and friendly. He made the whole process seem simple. He worked with me regarding pricing and assured me everything was including except anything unforeseen. He was able to see the carpet being removed and the floor underneath and assured me no problem. Installation day came and the installation people told me they would have to rip up the entire floor under the carpet and put down new plywood. They said they would do it for an additional $600. The gentleman was very nice about it and explained why they had to remove the floor. I told him I understood but would not be paying the additional cost because the salesman saw the floor underneath, it was clearly visible where the carpet was missing and he assured me everything was included.
He agreed it was obvious what the flooring underneath was and said "maybe he didn't know it couldn't be done." I told him this was unacceptable because if an employee is giving an estimate, he should know exactly what is entailed with the job. I told him had it been an unforeseen expense, I would agree to it but it was not. It was seen by the man giving me the quote. I told them I was not paying anything additional and they left and told me to call the salesman. I called him and left a message. I called customer service and they told me they left him a message and left a message for installation dept. I did not receive a call back. I called the salesman again and he apologized and said he would try to straighten it out first thing Monday am and would call me. Monday am came and went and no call. I called him and left a message. No call back. I called again later in the day, no call back.
I then called Customer Service again who transferred me to installation who said his manager was not there and he would have to call me back tomorrow. At this point, I am so disgusted with their lack of caring and what to me appeared as a bait and switch approach, I have no desire to work with their company now or ever, nor will I ever recommend them to anyone. I have never written a complaint about a company in my life but was so upset by this experience, I felt the need to save anyone else from dealing with this type of situation. I cannot comment on the quality of their work.

First half of the flooring crew showed up, then 10 hours later they had 4 pieces of sub floor laid. I was told the price was all together no extra then I had to buy extra pieces out of my pocket of plywood. Now I'm out more money. I have already paid $2,300. The floor crew of 2 up and left. I've been with no floor for 4 days. I can't cook, wash clothes, or anything else. My whole house is UPSIDE down. They came back 4 days later only to find they are short on flooring and trim. The trim is less than half enough. I feel like after paying that much money even some on top of the so called "inclusive" price it should have been done in one day! Now I'm out dinner for 4 days going out to eat. The ends results I'll let you know when I see them. As of now they are still not done. All I get is an "I'm sorry".

Purchased Of the new floor was Great. Salesman was very good at his job. Then came the date for the install, I received a phone call the night before to say they weren't coming out as the installer's helper was sick. That was a Thursday. Well on Friday they were suppose to be at my house by 8-8:30. When no one was there by 10 I called and was told they were picking up the flooring and would be there soon. The installer showed up at Noon with no helper. Mind you to tell me that all he was doing was dropping off the flooring so it can get warmed up to room temp. I helped him unload the flooring and he left. At this point my living room and Dinning room are complete moved into the Kitchen and bedrooms to make it so they would have room and get started right away. So now on Saturday they said they would be there by 7am to 8am but like before no one showed up.
Finally the installer called us at 9am and said his van broke down and is still coming and will let us know when that will be. I lost it!!! I called Empire again to inform them that this is a nightmare and that if no one is here today I will return the floor and cancel my order. The installer showed up about 12:30 again with no helper and left at 5pm saying he will be here on Sunday to finish the flooring. Well Sunday came and like always installer was late. Got to my house about 9:30 and had to leave to take his daughter home at 11:15am. He returned back to my house at 1:30pm and worked to 7pm and said he had to come back on Monday. Monday he showed up at 9am with a helper and able to finish the flooring except one problem. Empire didn't send enough flooring to complete the install and also shorted me on transition strips. So again had to call Empire and have them send out flooring and strips.
Also I had to help move back all my furniture and helped him clean up mess in house. So Empire reschedule the installer to come back the Next Saturday but like everything else that happened dealing with Empire. The installer didn't show. I called Empire. They said they would call me back that day. NO CALL BACK. So Sunday I called Empire again and they said they will call the installer and find out what is going. He said no one answered and Empire will have to call me back on Monday (today). Well at 2pm I called Empire to inform them the installer came out at 12 noon and installed the remain floor but there was no transition strips. And there is a corner piece of Laminate in the middle of the floor that is coming up.
They said they will call me back again and get the strips out to finish the installation. I'M NOT HOLDING MY BREATH THAT THEY WILL GET BACK TO ME TODAY. I will go to Lowe's and pick up my own transition strips and install them myself. Empire dropped the ball on this installation and I will Never Use Them Again. (FYI I have 1200 square feet of Kitchen and Bedroom flooring to still do.)

Because of the moisture in our foundation the install could not be done. After further negotiation we were rescheduled for Monday of the next week. We had to walk on bare concrete for 4 days. Today the installers came and they don't have the proper trim to go from one room to the other. We're told we will have to purchase this and install it ourselves. Really???

We had vinyl flooring and carpeting installed in my son's home by Empire Today. I had only considered buying the rough material and doing it ourselves, but having the installation done for us was nice. We had the vinyl put down and we had contemplated what we were going to do with the rest. We then thought we would leave the hardwood floors.
There was a coupon for the $100 gift card, and the installer of the flooring said, "Oh by all means, if you change your mind, they'll apply that". So I made sure that the carpeting was right at $2,000 to qualify, but then they told me that I could not get the $100 gift card because it was at the same address. It was a separate order. To spend over $4,000 and to be declined $100 gift card, I thought that was kind of sleazy. When I contacted the lady about it, I was adamant that we see the ads, but I told her, "That cost you business because I shared that with my friends". I'm not dissatisfied, but I won't recommend them because of that.

I had an excellent sales person come and do an in-home quote and estimate. I was really excited and felt I was making a wise choice since Empire has the price match guarantee. I signed a contract (knowing that they were competitive with their quotes - price match) and was happy to be getting our floors done. I did get another quote which was $100 more, so I was really pleased I chose Empire. The day of our installation I heard nothing from them and called to make sure that someone was coming. The installers arrived at 11:30 am which I thought was kind of late for a big job, but still glad everything was still going to take place.
Then we found out that I was misquoted (have it in black and white). Empire tried to explain the difference stating that I was aware. I took my contract out and NOTHING was itemized. All of the work I wanted done was listed along with the total quote. I told them I was going to go with the other contractor I got the other quote from. They wanted $1100 more from us and when I told them no they put me on hold while they scrambled for a solution. This was very awkward for us and the installers who drove up from Illinois. I was told that Empire uses their own "guys". The name on their van had a different flooring company name.
Finally after being on hold for a long time, they agreed to charge us only $525 more instead of the full $1100. Since we had already taken time off of work, emptied the rooms to be redone, we went along with it. Now we sit here a day later $5100 later with no workers returning to do the work. What a waste of time. I was hoping to get this done by a specific date. I'm on hold with Empire right now. Something that I have grown accustomed to. Now a day later, they found out the crew they sent yesterday opted out of the job. Nobody called us with an update or ETA. They are sending a new crew. Thank goodness, but this could have been handled much differently. Very unprofessional.

But the job itself was lousy. After they had gone, we stepped on a nail in the master bedroom that hadn’t been picked up off the pad. When I moved the bed out to plug some electrical appliances into the outlet, I found that the carpet was mis-cut and it was never taken care of or mentioned to us. Also, I don’t think they really stretched it the way that I’d seen it stretched in the past. This is not living up to my expectations based on my prior experience with Empire.
