I paid $60 for it over 10 years ago from Target. I chose the red chrome version which is easy to decorate around. It's easy to keep clean inside and out. The buttons on the front are easy to clean as well. It's been through 5 moves, 2 kids, and 2 adults and it still works like the day I purchased it. It still heats evenly, easy to use. It's always reliable and it doesn't heat too hot. The value is amazing! Also, the size of my microwave is perfect. In my 5 different homes I was easily able to find counterpoint space.

The appearance is expensive looking, part black and part stainless steel. That's the first thing about it and that was the deciding factor. It's a carousel type and for the money it's an all around good value and good size. It takes up about 3ft of space and I like it. I paid about 65.00 for it from Walmart in Muncie. I don't like presets that well though. It took me a minute to get used to it, it has presets on it which is new to me like 1.00, 2.00, etc, for a cup of instant coffee or to warm something up. It's nice and quick but not quite as powerful as my old one.

All functions of the microwave performed well as expected. It heated food in an acceptable amount of time. We got several years of use out of this product and this was very reasonably priced. This product was just the right size. I have limited counter space so I actually needed one that was on the smaller side but had all the functions I needed. Emerson had the product I wanted not only in the size I wanted but also in the color that would also match my other countertop appliances. This one was perfect. I'd recommend this product to family and friends.

It is help me to heating the food directly and save the time. It is healthy and kept the cooking as new and I was so happy when I used it. Anybody can easily used and get new cooking. The cost it was a little high for me because the capacity is large so that but when I checked the performance it was normal to pay this value. I bought the size large because it can enable you to different uses for it so I prefer when I need to chose it is better to chose the large size. There are different types for appearance. For me I chose the body made of stainless steel that will give good appearance and good resistance for corrosion.

This microwave worked well for our two person apartment with very little counter space. However, over time, it started tripping the kitchen fuse. Not certain if it was the microwave itself or if it was just too much for our fuse box. We chose this microwave because we had very little counter space at the time. It was the smallest we could find at a fair price. We had the option of smaller and even much smaller but they didn't seem to be as good of quality. The price was comparable to the other microwaves that the store had. It does have a few additional settings such as baked potato, boil water, and reheat. It basically looks like the average microwave. Nothing noteworthy regarding looks. It is black mostly so it goes with everything in the kitchen.

It works properly with low sound and just right with 1 minute button. It is affordable price under $100.00 with multi function button to work properly in a short time and safe. It is simple and easy way for quick cooking especially you are in hurry to work outside your home. It is small enough to fit in small kitchen in a single family house. It is good for frozen food or heat up some cold food that left over from previous meal. Also can cook any snack like pop corn and desserts when you are watching TV or relaxing listen to music. It looks like a small box of device that can heat up or cooking some quick meal for the whole family especially coming holidays with your relatives and visitors.

The whole family is happy with this microwave. It does everything as it should, warms food and defrost items like we want. We've had it many years and it still performs as it did since day one. We paid a little over a hundred dollars... The length of time that we have had microwave shows that it was of good value. The size is about medium. At times, I wish it were a little bigger. However if it were any bigger it would take up too much room. It is of average appearance but is not ugly.

The microwave always worked and we never had any type of problem with it. It was a good size. The microwave cost us approximately $100. We got more than our money out of it. We used it approximately 10 years and we only donated to Goodwill because we were moving to a house with an above-stove microwave installed. The microwave was large. I was able to put a 9 x 13 glass dish in it and it would rotate on the wheel and cook what was in the dish. It was black and the appearance was not unappealing. I was very happy with the product. It still worked fine but there was rust inside.

Never takes too long to cook food, and it's very easy to clean. I've had more expensive brands in the past and this one worked just as well as the pricier ones. It has lasted me for about 5 years, longer than my previous microwave which only last one year. It is a very good quality for the price. There were a few different sizes available but I chose a mid-sized model, as my family includes only my daughter and myself and is mainly used for leftovers. The microwave has a fresh modern look and easy to read buttons and numbers. I like that is has a digital display rather than a dial to turn.

The size is sufficient for most items. 900 watts does not reheat evenly even though it has a turntable so I would recommend higher wattage. It has a good menu although I do not use many of the functions. The microwave was a reasonable price and has been dependable and durable. A good value for the money. It is easy to clean and maintain and .9 cu ft is a good counter top size at 19.1x 14.8x11.6. Fits on the counter without taking up too much space and is large enough for the items we use. Also, the microwave is fairly attractive. The glass is encased in the silver door and black frame. Fits any color scheme. The menu panel is clear and easy to read.

I have had the Emerson Microwave about four years now and no problems at all with it. It does get used every day, many times. I love the color red so it fits in nice with my red themed kitchen. The red is metallic which is shiny and the rest is black. It has a very nice appearance, very easy to use and clean. I have gotten my money's worth out of this microwave and am very happy with all of its functions. The size of this microwave is just perfect for our needs. It's not too big where it would take up too much space on my baker’s rack. And it's not too small. It's a medium-sized microwave that is just right for my kitchen.

It didn't work or heat food or even light up so I could check on my food which was one of the features it was supposed to have. I was led to believe it was a great micro but instead, I got ripped off in the worst way. I was so mad about it that I stopped listening to other people and going to stores and buying that brand. The microwave is a sleek black with a well marked flat panel and it's easy to read. Panel is in large letters and has shortcuts, so you can just push one minute, for example, and not type it in. However the panel is beginning to be so worn by fingerprints, that it's becoming noticeable. But it's reliable and heats evenly. Timer beeps every 30 seconds after food is cooked to remind you, if you can't get to it right away. I purchased this size to fit over the oven, so it's quite large. I like this size, although it is often bigger than it needs to be for the food going in it. Also, it can take a lot of abuse, getting the door slammed frequently and things like that. It cleans easily, but the glass bottom is heavy. Afraid it's going to fall when being taken out. It has lasted quite a while now with no problems. It is a good product for the price.

The door was opened and it was noticed what appeared to be a rusted surface burning. The microwave was immediately disconnected. Upon return the microwave was reconnected and the burning/sparks/smoke started again.

A call was made to Emerson (Tammara) 013117 8:30 a. She advised that a replacement would be provided once the receipt was provided. The receipt was provided by my credit card company. A second call was made on 020717 and Tammara advised me cut the cord off, get a $15 money order and attach label on back of the microwave and mail back to: Emerson Radio, Attn: Return, 701 Malaga Pl, Ontario, CA 91761. It was later learned that a receipt from my credit card was insufficient after waiting for a week to receive it. Tammara did not say this initially. This was just too much! I also just press the 30 second button to quickly heat things up to just to be warm enough to my liking. My microwave is a great value for what I paid for it. It's high power and compact at the same time. I just needed a simple one but for the price I got a lot of extra features. Well today the metal actually melted and caught itself on fire just a few minutes after we used it. Thankfully I was in the kitchen and was able to smell it burning and hear the pop. My child had just made a microwave mac & cheese bowl not 5 minutes before this happened. So grateful he was not hurt or that our house didn't burn down. Do not buy this death product.

I purchased the microwave from target about 2 years ago. It had worked great. Roughly 4-5 months ago when we would use it, a smell came out from the side vent or fish. It was awful. Our whole house would smell. I contacted Emerson in December explaining what was going on. They came back with an email to heat water with some type of solvent or deodorizer (vanilla, lemon juice, baking soda), and heat for 1 minute. They said to leave it as long as possible. I did so and left it for a full day. It didn't help.

Today, I heated water in a microwave safe cup. I was heating it for 2 minutes to make tea. Smoke started coming from the microwave, and the cup was steaming. The water wasn't even hot. The house smelled like fish ((I have to add we don't eat fish, not have heated any type of it in the microwave.)) We decided to take the microwave out. My husband tested it outside, and within 45 seconds, it was totally smoking and started to catch fire.

Imagine if that was one of my 4 children cooking a microwave meal? They could've been seriously hurt, and caused a house fire in our kitchen. There was no reason for this to start, to happen, or end this way. Yes, it lasted for roughly two years, but it is NOT worth the risk of how it ended. I would NEVER purchase another Emerson microwave again!! I don't recommend it to anyone. Especially younger or elder. If I had left the room, or heated something longer, it would have caught my kitchen on fire. I have warned you.

I awoke to a burning smell, went into the kitchen to find the microwave had set itself to 23 hours. I had left a clean dish inside of it, that is what was burning. The plate was burned beyond--it had gotten so hot that is had broken into pieces so I unplugged it. 3 days later I had plugged it back in to use it (dumb). Forgot to unplug and as I stood in the kitchen and watched, it reset itself again. Unplugged it and removed from my home.

Informed product is only covered for 1 year AND to ensure paint doesn't peel & product doesn't rust to be sure to wipe it out often. I tried explaining that we DO wipe it out often & always use a cover over plates/bowls/etc. She refused to listen only saying, "Research has been done & it's been proven that not cleaning it causes the problems." We will NOT purchase another Emerson product since they seem to make "disposable products"... I assume in hopes that we'll go back & buy another... WRONG! Then yesterday when I was wiping it out, on the bottom under the turntable the coating peeled off. Now I'm a little scared to turn it on. Someone at work had told me that they had an emerson that had started making sparks and looked up reviews and found lots of problems otherwise I would never have known there were issues. I have owned many emerson products and until now have never had any issues, it has always been a good brand.

Just over a year ago I bought an Emerson microwave at Kmart. It was on sale. It was a little smaller than I wanted, but the price and the fact I really needed a microwave sealed the deal. I got it home and everything seemed fine. The 2nd day of ownership and I couldn't even heat a cup of water. I unplugged it. Let it rest. Restarted it and let it run for two minutes. Nothing... I boxed it back up and took it back to Kmart.

They had a bigger Emerson, nice looking one too. 1000W which would be fine for my uses. It wasn't on sale, but hey, I didn't care at this point. It is the Emerson model MW8121SL. Things seemed fine for several months. One morning I go to heat my cup of water and it doesn't get warm. I thought NOOOO.. not again! I wandered off stewing about it for a while and came back to try again. Fortunately it heated my water with no problem on the second go. Forward about 4 more months. It took me 4 minutes to heat a bowl of canned corn. Great. The next day, it heated my cup of water just fine.

Here we are at today. I went to heat my cup of water. Started the oven and "psff" it shut off and switched my breaker. I unplugged it and reset the breaker. Waited about an hour before approaching the beast. Plugged it in and there is no function at all. No clock, nothing. According to some of the searches I've done online, it sounds like a fuse blew. That's fabulous, just fabulous. I'll try and replace it myself, I could probably buy a new one for the cost of a repairman. If it doesn't work, it's getting junked.

I DO know this is the last Emerson Microwave I'll ever buy again. A product like this should last longer than a year. I don't use it to cook meals, only to reheat a plate of food or to heat water. This is a huge appliance that's not easy for me to move around. Things aren't made like they used to be. My mom's last microwave worked for 20 years before she needed a new one. The one she's using now is approaching 14 years now. Funny, I sure don't see Emerson getting those kind of years on today's models. JUNK.

My wife was softening some margarine in a glass bowl for baking when it started sparking like crazy. If we weren't paying attention we could have easily ended up with our house on fire. It was fairly clean on the inside so the chances of old food in it seem unlikely to us. I will never trust the Emerson brand of microwaves again. There was no reason for it to do this. I go to check it and the def 1 button kept flashing. Then the microwave would only run when you hit the 30 sec button. You have to actually push the clear button and then the 30 sec button at the same time. Then when you turn it on, it makes an awful noise and gets really hot on top. This microwave is dangerous and I cannot get any satisfaction from Target or any place to report this to the Emerson company itself. Emerson should either recall them or stop selling them, and at least have a place to call and report such matters. My elderly mother got the scare of her life and is now afraid of the device and now I am out the money and without a microwave, in this day of bad economy. Just the other day we reheated some noodles and smelled something burning (like an electrical burning smell). We open the microwave and under the turntable where the wheels rotate, all the paint or sealant was coming off in about a six inch radius. We called Emerson and spoke with a very rude woman who told us that the warranty ran out a month ago. She said not to use it any more and to throw it away as it can be hazardous to our health. She said that there was nothing that they can do. She said to find a repair shop and maybe they can fix it. I asked how could they fix a manufacture defect like this one. I ask to speak to a supervisor and was hung up on. By surprise we went to Walmart and they are still selling this awful microwave. There are so many bad comments on this microwave, I just don't understand why they haven't been recalled. Are they waiting for people to die.

I purchased the Emerson Microwave 900 Watt MW9305SB at K-Mart on 6/30/2013. I used it maybe once or two a week to heat up items, water for tea or popcorn. On November 25, 2013, I was heating up soup and I smelled something burning. I walked through all the rooms in my apartment, but the smell was definitely coming from Kitchen. When microwave beeped, I took out the soup but the smell was so strong around the microwave and when I moved it from the wall the smell was coming out of vent in back of microwave. I immediately pull out the plug. I took the microwave back to K-mart the next morning along with my receipt and they said I had to contact the insurance company listed on the sales slip because it was over 30 days.

I told them I am returning the faulty microwave and want my money back. They insisted that I take it home and call this number. I told them that microwave could have burned down my kitchen and I wasn't taking it back. I had a hard time getting it there because I am disabled and there was no way I was going to struggle taking it back home. I left the store and called the number on the sales slip. They told me I had to cut a piece of the cord and put it in a box or envelope and send it to them UPS. They said if the claim was approved, they'd send me a gift card. I told her I didn't want a gift card, that I wanted my money back and that I am not going to buy any more appliances from K-mart if this is how they handle faulty products.

She said a gift card was the only way I'd get my money back if the claim is approved. I told her I better get my money back because the microwave was obviously a piece of junk since I only had it 5 months, barely used it, and it started burning up. Now, 2 days before Thanksgiving, I have no microwave and no money to buy another and she said it would take 3-4 weeks to process my claim. Talk about ripping off Senior Citizens. I will not buy anything made by Emerson again, and as far as customer service at K-Mart, it is totally unacceptable service.

The 30-second button still works. It is still under the one-year warranty. The Service Representative apologized and then instructed me to do the following: Cut off the cord, peel off the back label & box up and return WITH the glass tray & roller guide and a check for $15 for return shipping. It will probably cost me $15 to $20 to mail the pieces to them. The process time is 3-weeks. There is no way I'm going 3-weeks without a microwave, so I'm going to have to buy a new one anyways. I asked since the 30-second button works if there was anyway I could send the cord after I received the new one...

Why would I ruin a partially working unit and go 3-weeks without my appliance? She said there is no other option. I asked to speak with her manager. She said she is the manager. I told her this solution is unreasonable and NOT acceptable. Clearly she didn't care. Clearly I will NEVER purchase another Emerson product. Their warranty is designed to deter customers from using it. She asked if I purchased the extended warranty from Walmart. Doesn't matter if I did - the product broke while still under manufacturer's warranty. After my experience and reading about others', I don't expect this company to last. We bought this unit the first time at Walmart. Within a few months, it started to act up. It was an Emerson 0.9 cu. ft. microwave oven with stainless steel front finish. It would cut off in middle of heating and cooking things. The worst part was that it got so hot you could not even touch it. I called the company and at first they were nice. They told me to cut the cord off and send it and turn plate back. I did and they sent one back out but when we got the second one, it also did the same thing ... and it was not even 2 months old. And for it not to be used every day or at all times, the thing did the same thing.

It cut off, got so hot I could not touch it and, this time, you could smell burning. I called the company back, was told this time to send the whole unit back, and they would send another style. Well, it has been a month almost and I still have no unit. I've called so many times with no issue resolved. I was told they had to send it to the warehouse to be tested. Then they told me they would a send report to me. The last straw was today. I was told they got it only two weeks ago. I told them, "No, you've had it for awhile. I've talked to you after I saw you received it." I also told them that they could pull it up and see that this was the second one sent back. They told me since it was the second time, they had to make sure it wasn't something we had done.

I told them that I feel they don't want to own up to it being a flaw with the unit, for I have no reason or time to send one, let alone a second one back for the same reason. This unit was a real fire hazarded. And they seem to have been so unwilling to resolve this. When I called, I got a different supervisor. I asked to have someone over them and they said that there was no one else, which is hard to believe. For you know there is more than just those two. They were not very helpful .So I decided to voice how I feel about their microwave. It is not worth having my house burn down. I will not buy another one or ever recommend their brand.

We're on our second Emerson Red 900 microwave. It started arching and looked like lightning in the microwave. The light quit working over a month ago. What a pile of junk. We were able to exchange the first one and exchange it for a new one. I never had this problem with other microwaves. I will never buy another Emerson because of their unsafe products. Stay away.

Since a week or two after purchasing the Emerson Microwave (model number: MWG9115SL), it has been sparking, making noises, overheating and turning off and on, and the paint around the door and the inside has been chipping/flaking off. I have called Emerson directly as well as WalMart where I purchased the product. I was first told by Emerson that I apparently wasn't cleaning and maintaining the microwave according to the instructions in the manual. I responded that I am a retired over 60 female and had followed manufacturer’s instructions to a tee. I continued to call and report problems to no avail. The last time I called them directly was around June 19, 2012, and I was told first that they couldn't refund my purchase price as the warranty had run out and secondly just to quit using the microwave. I was livid and told the customer service woman that I was again calling Walmart to suggest that they no longer sell Emerson Microwaves and also stated for Emerson to look online for all complaints regarding these microwaves.

I purchased an Emerson microwave a couple of years back, Model Number MW7305bc suffix a. In the last month, it was found on a few occasions, to have started up on its own, with no input at all, for no apparent reason. I contacted Emerson Radio directly on their fill-in website form for customer service. The response I received was as follows and is completely unacceptable. The response from Emerson Radio on 29 January 2013:

"We are in receipt of your correspondence referencing the problem you are having with your Emerson unit. It is very unfortunate that you have experienced problems with one of our units. Please accept my sincere apology for any inconvenience this may have caused you. Although all of our products undergo extensive testing for quality and durability, we do recognize that occasionally a product may fail to operate correctly. If the product was under warranty, Emerson would repair or replace the unit as specified in the written warranty. Your particular unit had a one-year warranty. We would recommend taking the unit to a local appliance service center for repair. If you need further assistance, please contact our Customer Service Department at 1-800-898-9020. Thank you for using Emerson products."

Emerson 9 cu. ft. 900-watt microwave that I have had for a couple of years started sparking this week when cooking sometimes. Today, it is arcing fire and buzzing, and the metal box is glowing red about the size of a half dollar where the large arcs firing across the microwave are coming from. I was melting butter on a microwave safe plate for 10 seconds. I went online to contact Emerson and saw all these reviews of the same thing happening. I unplugged the microwave and told other family about the microwave reviews that say it can spontaneously start fires while plugged in when not using the microwave. I won't buy Emerson any more. They need to be required to post safety warnings on this microwave and have a safety recall. What if people lose their home or lives? I am definitely frightened about using this product.

I purchased the Emerson microwave model #MW1161SB. Boy let me tell you that I regret it! I had the microwave for 2 days and then my mother purchased the same one. Well needless to say, here it is one month later and neither of them work! They catch fire when heating water for only 45 seconds! They are not safe to have in your home! Get rid of them and buy a reliable brand you know you can trust!

Over a year ago, I purchased a red Emerson Microwave. I was in love with the color and style. The microwave worked great for two months. Out of nowhere, I heard a crackling noise followed by several pops. I unplugged it and removed the food I was warming. The microwave plate was black and smoking. I thought it was something I had done which brings me to now - I bought yet another Emerson Microwave in silver earlier this year. While using it, I would get an occasional bolt of light and simmering noise from the square piece on the inside of the microwave. Today, that piece began to flash and smoke like an electrical fire. I unplugged it and won't be buying this product again!

I purchased the Emerson microwave model mw8992sb from Target less than four months ago. At first, I thought what a stylist, great little appliance. Not bad for 90 bucks. That all changed tonight. I was heating up water for one minute and thirty seconds and suddenly my microwave started smoking and sparking. I used a microwave safe glass Pyrex cup. No metal was used. Nada. I was thankfully able to contain the smoke and rush the microwave outside where it spent 60 minutes cooling off. After doing 20 seconds of research, I was shocked to find this make and model of appliance is flagged constantly as a fire hazard! Emerson should recall this microwave ASAP.

This microwave was manufactured January of 2010 (per the panel on the back) and has me terrified! It started a few months ago, randomly throwing sparks every once in a while. At first I though it was my Tupperware, maybe it wasn't microwave safe, and I switched to microwaving with products I knew to be microwave safe. The problem continued! I tried cleaning it (I usually place a shallow dish of water in it and microwave for a couple of minutes to loosen the grime) and it caught fire! In my opinion, and from seeing similar reviews from other people, this product is dangerous. Do not buy, and I will be contacting the manufacturer to see about receiving a replacement.

We have this Microwave oven MWG9115SL for 2 years. It didn't start this for a long time after we purchased the oven. We don't have the money to replace it. It's definitely going out. The problem we have had is it sparks and to power surge. It's scary to use. It is a dangerous product. I just hope no one gets hurt or worse. Emerson, you should be ashamed and recall this product now. Why isn't your company not doing anything about this? I bet you would not have it in your home. If anyone has this same oven, get rid of it.

My Emerson microwave mw9339sb sparks and catches items on fire. I am surprised that there is not a recall on this product. It is extremely dangerous. I wish I had known about the hazards of this product before purchasing it.
