I've read all these terrible reviews and for argument's sake, every product or company makes lemons. I had a $50,000 Volvo that was a lemon. It happens. However, don't just assume they are all bad. Humans need something or someone to blame when bad things happen. We, in general, are negative creatures who need the satisfaction of pointing a finger. The fact of the matter is I'm sure there are just as many people who love their Edenpure as there are who hate it, but us positive people have a lot more productive things to do with our days than complain, whine, and feel sorry for ourselves. I'm here to say I have had my Edenpure for 3 years. I have never had to replace bulbs, there is no smell, and it heats up my house awesomely. It almost gets too warm at times. It's easy to roll and move, it's safe for my animals, and the best part is how much money we save on our heating bill every winter. We are in a very cold climate, and it does a very good job heating the whole house. So for all of you researching this product, keep an open mind. In general, people complain much more than they give praise. Use positive words and view the cup half-full - just saying.

I received my Edenpure Gen 4 this week. I turned it on today; first use and the remote and unit buttons won't work. When the unit is on high temperature, it can't charge. I called CS and had to insist they call UPS. When the unit came, the plastic wasn't on the unit; it was in the box just laying on the top. It was pretty obvious that a damaged unit was re shelved and that's what I received. I asked about warranty being 100% when I receive the replacement unit in 2 to 3 weeks as I am losing over a month of warranty having to return the initial one that wasn't working. I was told they can't extend the warranty for it to start with the replacement. I didn't think that was right, as today was the first time the initial unit was used. I wasn't allowed to talk to a supervisor to express my concerns and the woman doing the exchange could have cared less when I asked. Under these circumstances, they should do an even exchange via UPS same-day (delivery) and not delay waiting for unit to be received back before sending a replacement.

I bought a Gen 4 on 10/17/10. Two bulbs went bad within 3 months. I knew this because I dissembled the unit. At the time, they did not sell the bulbs and they wanted me to send the unit back. I kept the unit because I knew that even shipping a new unit would make these bulbs go bad because the unit is so large that even bumping the unit, especially when they’re “on”, would make the bulbs burn out. If I had to do it again, I would not buy or recommend this product. I don't know if it’s worth buying and replacing the bulbs myself for $20 apiece plus shipping. But if you’re knowledgeable enough to know what you’re doing, it’s not that hard. edenpureparts.com

I used the heaters last winter during the mild winter we had in Indiana. I turned my heat down to 62 and ran two Eden Pure Gen 3 and 4 heaters during the evening. When I would go to bed, I left one on all the time when I was home. About a month later, I started to smell something but could not find the cause. About two weeks later, the heater I ran in the night time started to put off this smell all the time. I thought it might be burning off newness. Then all of a sudden, the heater overwhelmed me with this toxic type smell. I started choking and gagging. I could not breathe very well, so I took the heaters out of my house. I called Eden Pure and as you know, I could not talk to the company about the issues. I have tried to reach them many times on this but to no avail. When I asked to talk to a company repair or CEO, they told me to send it back.
I have been trying to get rid of the smell now for nine months. I called Consumers Affairs. They got back with me and said they cannot help because they cannot reach the company office. Their (Eden Pure) call center wanted me to send them the heaters for exchange. I would not send it because I will never know what happened. I have had Air Scrubbers and Purifiers in my house but still have the odor. I have been very ill over this. So if Eden Pure is reading this, they should contact me. My symptoms are headaches, ring in my ears, sick to stomach, dizzy, and burning eyes, nose and throat. I have lung issues coughing and pain in the chest. I have been very ill and cannot get away from the house.
When I do leave, it gets better, then I have to return! I will now have air ducts cleaned and a remediation service come in, then paint with Kills. It did get a little better during warmer weather. I opened all the doors and windows and tried to air it out. It is on my furniture, carpet and walls. I cleaned the living room furniture two times, but it did not help. My doctors have warned about staying here, but it is not that easy to just walk away! I'm going to contact an attorney!

Refurbished is expensive. I loved my Gen 4 the first year; after it started blowing cold air and I got a refurbished one, 3 or 4 times now because of similar defects, I am very upset with this company. I researched the product and viewed more pros than cons, not knowing that I would be a con within the Edenpure cons. When I called this last time, they thought they were doing me a favor by sending me a postage paid return label again - made me mad. I'm tired of totting a heavy piece of crap to the UPS office just to get another piece of crap. If you have not bought an Edenpure yet, don’t... These reviews are here for a reason. Go to a local store and buy one where they will stand beside you and your purchase, and you can look them in the face and ask why this product doesn't work but you didn't have problem taking my hard-earned money.

I bought two Edenpure Gen 4 in January 2011. One never made it through the winter months as it started blowing cold air. I did the reset bit with no results. The other one lasted the first winter but this year, it's also just blowing cold air. When I called Edenpure, they gave me several other numbers to call, instead of just taking care of it themselves. After all, it is their product. I got no satisfaction from the other two numbers as they said I did not buy it from them. It seems Edenpure does not stand behind this product. Do not buy this product.
As for lowering eating costs, that is a misrepresentation! I am still paying for last year's electric bill which is the highest I ever had including my gas bill. I can see the infrared in the front and was informed by Bio-Tech that I can purchase a bulb package online if the heater is not putting out heat and replace them ourselves. But after reading some of these complaints, this product seems to me to be a possible fire hazard! I paid $367 a piece for these heaters on a limited income and feel totally ripped off. So much for the representation of Bob Vila. How can anyone stand behind such junk? If there ever is a class action suit, I would also be interested! I would at least like my $734 back! Let the buyer beware!

First, I would like to say that we love our EdenPure heater. It saves us money and it helps us to warm up those rooms with a slight draft. Our EdenPure stopped working. Can we send it back to the company to get it fixed and have it returned to us? If this is possible, how should we return it? I think we still have the original box it came in. Please let me know so we can have it up and running by the time the cold comes back. Thank you.

It stopped heating after one year or less of use for one room. I was pleased with the heating of the one room it heated. This is a very costly item to only run a year or less. It now only puts out cool air like a weak fan. My $20 to $60 heaters have lasted at least 3 to 6+ years.

I ordered the best one they have. I have COPD and wanted what was offered. I liked the idea of not drying the air out. It is sometimes hard to breathe when the air is so dry in the winter. I have used a hydrator to put the moisture back in the air. I was hoping this heater would work better. It didn't. It completely stopped working after two months almost to the day. It just blew out cold air. I emailed the customer service dept on the last day before my refund guarantee ran out. Of course, they wanted me to try another one, which I did but when it did not work and I emailed again, I was told my option for refund expired and I would have to exchange again. I got the number for the customer service dept and called to speak to a supervisor.
This was false advertising. I was not ever given the option of a refund and when I tried the second one without satisfaction, they closed the door in my face. I finally was able to get a supervisor to agree to a refund but she said you will have to pay shipping. What kind of ** is this? It's your faulty product you pay for shipping. You should have to pay me for my waste of time and pay me interest on my money you held up for several months. This company is not trustworthy. Do your business elsewhere.

We ordered an Edenpure Gen4 heater from Biotech Research on October 3, 2011 for $397.00. We have had a mild winter and have not used the heater everyday. Several days ago, our heater started blowing cold air and we unplugged it. I called Biotech Research on April 9, 2012. While I was on the telephone with a lady there, I plugged the heater in and it was still blowing cold air. I was told to unplug the heater for exactly 45 minutes, plug it back in, turn in on high, and maybe that would fix it. What? Are they kidding? I did ask to return it for a full refund, but she said that couldn't be done due to I have had the heater over 60 days. Well, I haven't used it for 60 days. I am told I will get a refund only after I complained forever and the service is not there after a problem. Well, they have the heater back. I am told twice the refund is being processed today. Well, after the 5-7 days and no refund, I am told that person did not have permission. I have phone records and names. No one works there by that name. I am still waiting. We contacted Edenpure and service reps would not connects us to a manager. I left numerous calls for a return call. I experienced the same problem as the other complainants. We bought the unit in November 2010, used it 1 1/2 winters. All of a sudden, after less than 7200 total run hours, the unit started blowing cold air. All three bulbs had blown at the same time. I called to see about having new bulbs sent so they could be replaced and was told I would have to send the unit back and that I would have to pay shipping.
Since this unit was under a five-year limited warranty and the average life of the bulbs was to have been 20,000, I was very vocal about the fact I would not pay for shipping and would tell everyone I knew or could on Facebook, or file a complaint with, including putting it on Richard Karn's and Bob Vila's Facebook if possible, of my experiences with their product.
Although their customer service rep was rather nasty about it, they did send a prepaid label. I had to wait until I got the label, they got the unit back, and then the time for the refurbished unit to arrive, before finding out, it was far worse than refurbished - it looked like someone had been kicking it, it was so scratched and dented. Along with that, it is another face design from the one I ordered - this one looks cheap.
The government should be looking into these people. It is in flagrant disregard of the truth in advertising law. Their written 100% statement of "customer guarantee" is a farce. I was told I could not buy and replace the bulbs myself, therefore, every time this unit quits working, it will have to be sent back. That means paying shipping and that you won't get your repaired unit back, but a refurbished one, and when the unit is out of warranty, that means you as consumer must pay labor and parts each time. Considering the fact the unit only works an average of one year, that is time and cost consuming.
I would gladly add my name to a class action lawsuit against these people. Something I have never done, nor have I ever considered until this fiasco. I think Bob Vila and Richard Karn should be ashamed of themselves for promoting what, to me, is an obvious fraud.

We purchased the GEN4 on 11/23/11, and received it on 11/27. We didn't begin using it until January due to our mild weather of late, and only used it for about a month until it started blowing cold air. We called, and they told us that we were just outside of our 60 day warranty, and to unplug it for 45 minutes to reset the thermostat and plug it back in. We did this 3 times, and it still blows cold air! I've read all of these complaints online, and refuse to deal with this. I called and got a customer service rep supervisor named Callie, who told me that they would send out a new one at their expense, not a refurbished one, but would not refund it. And that the new one would be outside of the 60 day warranty as well. After 6 months, they only sent out refurbished ones, and at the owner's expense. I am hoping that I will have some recourse with our credit card company, and dispute the charge. I'm also very tempted to contact the Director of Customer Service directly. This heater is advertised as a 'personal' size heater, to heat 300 sq ft. The problem I've experienced is, no matter where I situate the heater, even 2-3 ft from me (father back doesn't seem to help either), I feel like I'm about to freeze and the heater is set on its highest setting. It was purchased new. I contacted the company to make them aware of the problem and one person said they would swap out the heater for a larger size, if I wanted to, but then a second person said they would not do that. There is no assistance of any sort that has been provided by their customer service folks in remedying the problem, yet they continue to send me mail with discounts to buy additional heaters because I'm such a loyal customer.
Yesterday I sent them an email requesting that they (a) please correct whatever is the problem with my heater that it is not heating, or (b) remove my name from their mailing list. A reply came back promptly that they'd be happy to take my name off their mailing list! A disappointment but not really a surprise! Suffice it to say, this company's 'customer service' is a 'misnomer'.

I bought this heater for about $400 in November 2011. It stopped putting out heat, and only blew out cold air in January 2011, and I had to take it in for repair. That time, the owner's daughter, Holly, gave me a loaner heater, and I got my heater back in a few weeks. However, 4-6 weeks later, the heater failed again, and the Edenpure store had closed, so I had to go through corporate. It took several days to get to a person, who would even help me, and I wound up calling the manufacturer, who tried to get me to buy another heater (are you kidding? The product was brand new and had broken twice, before it was even six months old!). I sent it in for repairs.
It finally came back weeks and weeks later, but the heater's cord would get dangerously hot. I called again, and they asked me to send it back in. At this point, it was late March, and I had been without the heater. I paid for longer than I had been able to use it. I asked for a loaner. They refused, and told me to buy another heater, then return it when mine was fixed. I refused. They sent the heater back to me, claiming the cord had been replaced, but the cord had a small speck of paint on it from a household project, and it was clearly the same cord. I was dumbfounded that they would be so deceitful. I threw a fit, and sent it back. They sent me another heater about six weeks later, in May, in the middle of a heat wave. That heater has worked well, until last night, February in Ohio, when I noticed it was chilly in the room where I used it, and guess what? It's blowing cold air again.
I have a number of relatives who have used these heaters for years, without incident. This is ridiculous, and based on the number of other similar incidents I see posted here, it seems that the company should be investigated.

I did not have my paperwork or owner's manual handy, so I took cover off the unit to find that all 3 Sylvania bulbs were shot, they looked like they were full of powder and sand and had black scorch marks on them, obviously blown!
Then I discovered that because I had tried to "fix" the unit myself it had voided the warranty! So I proceeded to try to find replacement bulbs, only to find they are nearly impossible to find and very expensive if you do find them, $ 104.00 for 3 bulbs. I have not received the replacement bulbs yet, but if this does not fix the problem, the heater will be returned to Eden Pure/ Biotech Research in pieces, very small pieces. I am so disgusted and annoyed at the attitude of all of the "customer service" employees. I was talked to like someone with a brain injury or learning disability.
I had no idea that an attempt to change a light bulb could make a person mentally incompetent! I would discourage any and everyone from dealing with this company! What a total waste of money and time, and aggravation!

I am irate that a company would be able to sell a bad product like this. They do false advertising, which includes "made in the USA", and "lowers your heating bills". This is a crime, I thought. I purchased a Gen4 model last November 2010, and used it only in the winter months, and noticed my electric bill sky rocket, and really never heated the room completely. Then when I brought it out this winter 2011/2012, I turned it on, and heard a loud pop, and the machine stopped working. I called Edenpure, and I had to pay to return it to them, only to get a refurbished one back. When I turned this one on, it lasted only 2 minutes, and shut itself off, and would not come back on.
When I called the company back, they gave me all the resetting options, and none of them worked. When I talked to the customer service girl, she told me she would put me through to talk with a special department that handles return labels, and I sat on hold for at least half an hour. Before I hung up, and called back, only to get put back on hold. I called back again, and the girl told me she would put my phone number on a list to call back that evening, and never heard from them. I called back again the next morning, and they told me it could take 24 hours to hear anything back from that department. So, I have still not heard from anyone, regarding this matter. I keep getting the runaround from them, and it is always someone else. I need to talk with. I would not buy this product, and I feel very victimized, angry, and mislead. I would love to get in on a class action lawsuit, if one begins.

We purchased two of these over priced heater during a 2 or 3 year span. The Model 500 was purchased around 2006. While they work I have never been pleased with them. I didn't see the gas savings and the electric bill went up. We only use them a few months out of the year. I plugged them both up and they worked for a short time.
The larger one started making a lot of noise. Beat on it a couple of times and it quit for a few minutes. Then it started back in fury. I was afraid to leave it on for fear it would overheat and start a fire. Opened it up and thought it might have been the small fan on top hitting something or the bearing going out. It wasn't that fan. It's some fan inside, the heating unit itself which you cannot see. With most of the support sides removed, I turned it on and the noise was no longer heard. Ran it like this for a couple of days with no more noise. I then put it back together and is running quietly.
But the quality of the insides are a rip-off for the price. All of the mounting plates, which are basically the whole unit, are made of a cheap sheet metal with metal screws. There couldn't have been over $30-$40 worth of metal. With it made in Asia, the cost for assembly is almost nothing. No way would I have purchased this heater if I had known the quality of how it is put together.
My wife called Edenpure about the small unit. They basically said tough luck. They said they don't do repairs, gave the name of a company that does in TN which is not worth the drive and would not give a trade-in value towards a new heater. So much for backing up their product! Just a few days ago I opened the small one (Model 500). It took me a while to figure out the problem as I did continuity tests on every wire connection, switch, thermostat and the fan on top. Fan didn't have continuity on one lead but when I tested the fan directly with a 120 connection it worked fine. So I dug a little deeper on the continuity checking of the heater "core" itself. This is where the heating "tubes/elements" are located. One of them was bad and it was the one that help complete the circuit to the fan.
I pulled out the heater tube. There is nothing quartz heat about it! It is just a glass tube with a tungsten wire running through it! The ceramic ends are cheap and the wires coming out of each end of all of the tubes was of poor quality at best. All of the wires moved freely. This is pure deceit by Edenpure. There is no quartz heating elements. I contacted Edenpure myself via their website using email. They never responded back to me which has been at least 3 days. Their website has a drop down menu for parts, manuals, etc. for each model. But when you select one of them you get a screen wanting to sell you new heaters. Now, I guess to them parts are equal to new heater.
Now, knowing what I now know about these 2 heaters from the facts above I feel that I have been victimized by pure deceitful and untrue advertising. Edenpure should be required to stop advertising their products and put out of business. They are making huge profits off each heater. No wonder they can afford these large full page adds in newspapers. Don't buy one. While it may work forever these units are not made as described and you will not save on your energy bill. You are getting old technology described as state of the art. When you think about it, these heater tubes are nothing more than light bulbs which contain heavy duty coils that work like an electric range. For the price of these two heaters I could have purchased probably several dozen ceramic heaters.

Overall experience is zero! Do not buy this product! I purchased the EdenPURE Gen4 model supposedly made in USA but not! It is Chinese made! I paid over $400 for this unit and it only lasted maybe one winter season then it was already out of warranty. It stopped heating but the fan was still going so I tried this reset procedure but still nothing. Luckily, this piece of junk didn't burn my condo unit and the building down! The so-called Quartz heater lamps had all exploded and broken into pieces inside the box. When I picked it up to place on a bench to see if there was something fixable, I could hear broken glass sliding around the bottom of the unit. Being a trained electrician and electronics service person, I opened the cabinet to determine what had happened.
I was well aware of my warranty expectations. The box was designed not to be opened or serviceable with hidden tabs and fasteners but being familiar with these sorts of techniques, I was able to open the cabinet without breaking it. Inside, I found a cheaply manufactured sheet metal box with cheap Chinese circuit board, made in China markings and marginal at best fabrication techniques! This box couldn't possibly have cost more than $50 to make! From a personal perspective, I felt pretty angry. I had fallen for the Bob Villa made in USA lie and that my expectations of this expensive box of junk in front of me was claiming energy savings and efficiency and has been nothing more than another corporate scam!
All three lamps had melted and broken apart inside the three copper shrouds. It is only luck that this device didn't burn and melt in my house. For that I am thankful. This had been plugged in and running off and on in the automatic mode while I slept. When I woke up, I noticed that the room was cold and the fan was running but only blowing out cold air. For whatever reason, the heating lamps did not short or caused damage beyond the broken chards of ceramic contained within the sheet metal heat chamber.
As soon as I was able to disassemble the unit to get to the broken pieces, I realized two things¸ one was this design wasn't made to allow for removal and replacement of these bulbs and two, it looked like these weren't quartz lamps even though they were glass tubes with really just tungsten coil elements inside. These were made by Sylvania manufactured in Mexico by the way. The glass epoxy holding the ceramic end sockets had completely broken into chunks and the tungsten windings inside the glass had burned out open just like a light bulb would do.
The entire lamp assemblies fell apart in my hands. This would explain why they require you to send these back and they don't repair them but they will send you another one. They are not designed in any way to replace a burnt out lamp. These would never last very long anyway. I believe I saw a specification of 20,000 hours which would be at best 800 days at 24 hour a day of use. Mine certainly didn't last that long!

I bought 2 Edenpure Gen4 heaters with ship date of 09/15/2011. Since it has been a mild fall/winter, I did not turn on the heater until mid November. I received the electricity bill for Nov. 20-Dec. 20. I used 1897 KWhr at $253.00. The temperature never really made it below 25 during the whole month. Last year, the electricity usage was 689 kWhr at $114.00. The total area heated is 1,200 sq. ft. with 8' ceilings. The product is rated at 1,000 sq. ft. each so 2 should be more than enough.
At $397 each and a soaring electricity bill, this is a terrible investment, as the home felt no warmer than using our furnace which is 40 plus years old with an energy efficiency of less than 50%. The product is supposed to cycle on/off when it reaches a desired temp but rather constantly runs. There are several false/inflated statements on the Edenpure’s website. I called Biotech at the phone number listed on my booklet that came with the heater, 1-800-219-8458. A person named Tanya answered but could give me no info on my purchased date except that we had purchased one. I ask for a shipping label but she said they did not supply them. She said to send it to the address on the booklet. Since we live on the Canadian border and no UPS around, we sent the heater to them via priority mail at a cost of $40. We mailed it on Oct. 31, 2011 and as of Dec. 1st had heard nothing from them. I sent email to their customer service department and they could not find the heater. The post office receipt shows that someone signed for it at their facility on Nov 4th. After several tries, I finally got someone to check on the heater and they told me that the address on the booklet was the wrong address (different zip code) and since the heater was out of warranty, they destroyed it.
No one ever contacted us or attempted to return it to us. They just destroyed it. They told me today that since the old heater needed repairs, they could not send me a new one. I was told that they could send me a malfunctioning heater and then I could send that one back for repairs at a cost of $198 even if it might just be a $2 switch and I am out the $40 we paid to send them the first one. I had the old heater for three years, used it very little in my studio where I go to paint sometimes for a few hours twice a week and it just stopped working. I don't think the heater is worth the $198 needed to repair someone else’s old broken heater. Edenpure is a real rip off and customer service people really must have trouble sleeping at night. Then, I called the company who told me it would cost me to ship it back and a 15% restocking fee (they count the days since you purchase the unit, not when you receive it). If it takes 10 days to get it to you, you are then down to 20 days to use it (not even enough time to get a heating bill to see if it's worth it). I am so angry I could spit.
Don't use this system unless you live in a very small space, like 600 square feet or less because it won't keep you warm. I specifically asked if it would carry heat to more than a room and was told yes, absolutely. What a waste of time and money and I have made calls to the manufacturer (1-866-786-8946) who told me it was up to each individual store as to their policy. When we opened it, it was a smaller model for 350 sq. ft., and the instructions said not to block the front or the rear, which says to me it shouldn't go under a desk. They reminded to clean the filter, which I did. They then began telling me about the thermostat on the heater. To unplug the unit and not start it up again for 45 minutes to let the thermostat reset. It then began heating only about 10 minutes and then shutting off and would not start again until you unplugged it for 45 minutes. I phoned their customer service department three times. Finally, a woman told me how to make an exchange return. I have done that. But it cost $50 to ship it back Fed Ex with full insurance coverage.

Consequences include numerous guest complaints, multiple shipping charges, a large initial investment, labor costs associated with finding a unit with a working heater and placing it in a unit with a non-working heater, preparing units for shipping, transporting units for shipping and/or organizing pick-ups. Also, new alternative heating units must be purchased as we are running out of working EdenPURE units, and our warranty has been suspended on the original / replacement units.

I contacted several service reps to try to order parts or find info. After several attempts, I was hung up on every time. My bill went up instead down. The heater was expensive and quite working. I read other many complaints and in order to have it repaired, you have to send it to them and pay shipping both ways.

I purchased an Edenpure BioSpeed Clean UV Vacuum in December of 2009. I loved it until the black rotating part of the unit that fastens to the handle broke. My daughter tried to glue and screw it back, which I am told voids my warranty. I accept that, but I still need a replacement part and I have gotten a run around for the last month.
I was finally told that can't get it. I have bought several products of yours including 3 heaters. If I cannot get service, then I have bought my last item. All I want to do is buy the replacement part and I will find a way to change it. Otherwise, I will have to throw the vacuum away.

We are on our third one and it finally quit like the other two. It worked fine one season (only heats a small room). This year it worked for a month. We noticed it had quit one day, when we unplugged it and restarted, it beeps 3 times and nothing. I would just as soon have my money back instead of another one.

I bought an Edenpure in early 2008. I bought the one that should have heated around 1000 sq. feet. I had problems with it from the beginning. It did not heat the room like they advertised. In fact, in order to feel any heat, we had to sit right next to it and have the heat blow right on you.
I looked online to see what I could do to and saw that if you wanted to have it fixed, you have to send it back in the original box and you have to pay for shipping to and from. This last April the thing decided to quit working. It turns on; then about 1-2 minutes later, the blower or whatever turns off and doesn't come on again. However, the lights still are light. I am so disappointed in this product. What a waste of a lot of money. Don't buy this heater.

I purchased two model 500 EdenPure heaters and a SunTwin model. All these heaters stopped working within two seasons or less. The company offers to repair at my expense if the items are shipped in their original boxes and I pay the shipping. The heaters are unreliable and stop working without warning, so I don't wish to replace them with another heater I cannot trust. I paid over $1000 for heaters that can stop working at any time. Advertisements make the claim that these will pay for themselves with cost savings and efficiency which was not the case.

I got this in the mail and am wondering if it's really any good. Bob Vila puts his name on it, saying it's a money-saver for 2009. But it doesn't say how many watts of consumption. They have two models and they are as listed: Gen3 model 1000 - heats up to 1,000sq ft; and the other Gen3 model 500 - heats up to 300sq ft. They're advertised as an infrared portable heater. I just would like to know if you have any info on this - good or bad. This reminds me of that Amish heater (made in China, assembled by the Amish) that was really pushed in the papers.

I bought one of these Edenpure heaters two years ago. The heater had a 60-day guarantee. We had it for a week or so and left one day when it was around 20 degrees outside. We left the heater on and were gone for a few hours and when we got back, the heater had quit. We could not get the heater going again so we packed it up and sent it back at our expense. They wanted to send us another one at our expense of all the shipping. But fool me once, shame on them; fool me twice, shame on me. I requested my money back. I now use an oil-filled heater that I bought for $39 with a small fan behind it when I need it. If it does quit, I'm only out a few dollars and it works just as good as the Edenpure did when it did work. No more miracle heaters for me.

This is our second Eden Pure Heater. We had a 500 to begin with. It died and we sent it in. They informed us that it was too old a model and that they didn't have parts for it. Fine. We just received an advertisement for the Eden Pure 1000-XL. I asked if we could upgrade and the customer service said yes. I knew we would have to send in more money, but she said that the $65 that we had sent in for the old heater repair could be used for that. They didn't charge anymore for the new heater.
We had the heater for about 2 years. We only used it in the winter time and early spring. We took it with us in our Motor Home; it worked great. We took it this Fall in our Motor Home and it would try to work. It would come on but immediately shut itself off. It couldn't get it to run. We were without a phone, so I purchased another electric heater and we used it. After arriving at home, I called Biotech Research and stated that the new heater was not working. I spoke to Tanya and she said that I would need to send it in - during the conversation, she said something regarding the fact that maybe the heater would not work because of the dust filter on the back.
I said I always kept it clean and washed it and dried it before using. She said sometimes the filter would just mat together and cause the heater to stop working, to just take the filter off and leave it off. I said okay. I tried it without the filter and it has worked ever since. I called back and spoke to a Brenda and asked her why wasn't the customer informed that if the heater stopped working, that it maybe the filter? She didn't have an answer for that. She told me, "You don't need the filter anyhow." So I stopped using the filter. "If there is any dust or dirt sucked in there, you can't vacuum it out," like she said. You can take a can of air and blow most of it out.
Apparently there is something wrong with the filter and it can't be used for very long. She asked if I would like to have another filter sent to me and I said yes. When I received the package from Biotech, it was no filter. It was another cover for the back that holds the filter on? I called and asked if they knew they had sent the wrong Item. I needed a new filter. I still do not have a filter. We had an old filter from our old furnace and I cut a piece to fit it. That is what I am using.
Why didn't they send a new filter? What is wrong with this filter system? I'm not sure why customers were never informed that the filter is not good for any length of time. These heaters are not cheap. I just thought that the public needs to be aware of what this company has failed to tell us. Their important information just says that if you have a lot of dust in your house, use the filter, but you have to wash it all the time. Using the heater without the filter is a good idea because the filter does not work all the time. So if you don't want to wash it, just take it off, yet if you do need the filter and you do wash it too much, it mats together and the heater won't work at all? Now, how crazy is this?!

I bought a new Edenpure Air Cleaner. 1 year and 30 days later, it went out and I bought a refurbished one. It went out 2 weeks later. 3 more were not what I ordered. They lied to me. I bought a whole house, sent one room cleaner and claimed they changed them - lied again. They sent me another one; most of the cleaners’ options did not work, told me to send it back. So, I was tired by then and I did not send back. 7 months later, all of it failed to work at all. Sent it back, it will be a month and a week before I get another one. I’m still waiting, not to mention when called the hateful person (the women) there who continue to be nasty from the get go of conversation. I have never seen such actions of reps there (the women). I will get names of these people so it can be embraced by all. I have lost count of air cleaners they have sent me that don't work. I had to buy other air cleaners for my home.

The EdenPURE heater that I ordered arrived Feb. 9,2008. I used it for four days and I wasn't feeling well. Until I left the house for a few hours and returned I didn't realize it could be causing the problem. There was a smell in the house as though a cooking pan had overheated on the stove. The heater was turned off but was still plugged in. I was still thinking that it could be just the nasty new smell that some equipment has. Instead of dissipating the fumes got worse. By the morning of Feb. 14, I had a splitting headache and couldn't think straight.
There is something wrong with that machine. I don't know if I just got a defective one or if there are more. I called the company and reported it and requested a replacement. The more I think about it the more I worry that it could hurt someone badly and they wouldn't know what was doing it. The machine does produce a pleasant quality of heat and a person might not realize it was making them sick. Other than the fumes, it had three other problems; the thermostat doesn't work right, the fan doesn't turn off and on as it should, there is a heat blotch that showed up on both sides of the heater cabinet like something inside had overheated. The blotch felt greasy to the touch and the grease stunk like overheated metal.
