    No issues with my original sales rep, Kurt even though I was contacted by Kurt and Assaf about my inquiry. I did not know who I should speak to about my inquiry but I was able to eventually speak with Kurt and set everything up. So my first tip is, only have ONE rep contact a potential customer and not multiple reps. My next tip is to not have multiple reps reach out to a new customer the day after they sign up trying to get them to buy more things. Just today I had two separate reps call me and offer me other services. I am happy with what I have, don't try to sell me more. I am concerned that if this is how Choice Home Warranty is, I may have made a mistake in signing up with you all.     Paid $3080 on Jun 28, 2021 for 6-year contract. I (The Customer) spent $8000 for repairs that should be covered under contract. Poor response times for assignment of tech. Inability to find a tech so asked customer to get one approved. Overcharges from contractors on work not covered. Hidden coverage limits based on age of covered equipment. Unprofessional or inexperienced contractors. Difficulty in canceling contract with CHOICE. Deceptive wording in contracts. Tech assigned with Revoked license.

    The amount of $249 for a replacement dishwasher is incredibly low. Just to have the unit installed is between $100-$150. Dishwashers nowadays are $500+.     The rep (Jonen) who handled this renewal royally screwed this up. I have 2 policy numbers for 1 address in which the dates are wrong and I have not received any email confirmation that the other 2 properties have been renewed. I have called 5 times since 9/29 and no one has been able to help me. I am being told I have to deal with him directly in which I was transferred and left 2 voicemails and have yet to receive a call back.     It took four days to have a technician on site. The replacement amount was not in line with market prices. Way too low. The case manager didn’t show any willingness to help, was strict in pointing to the policy and process. I felt like l was talking to a robot. Was told l have to wait 30 days for either the Lowe's gift card or the check. No one at CHW cared about what l will have to do before the 30 days.     AC went down on a Monday morning, so I call it in for repairs straight away. It took until Thursday and two calls (to Choice Home Warranty) to ask why the delay to get an appt. The appt was set for the next day. The repairman didn't show (appt time 0700 hrs. - 1100 hrs.), even after verifying that It was scheduled for the day given. I called Choice Warranty and spoke to a representative who called the repair company and verified that they would show up on the following Monday.

    On Monday morning the repairman showed up, did the job very well and the AC is functioning properly. I gave 4 stars because the issue was NOT with Choice Home Warranty. The problem was with the local vendor. Please keep in mind that Choice Home Warranty has to work with your local repairmen, and you may have problems. I'm pleased with my choice in this Home Warranty company.

    We have had Choice for 2 years and never placed a claim until I noticed my washing machine making a noise while spinning. To be proactive we called to have it checked before it stopped working. Choice sent a Sears tech (because we have a Kenmore washer?). The tech was very nice and knowledgeable and stated he was not quite sure if it was the transmission or not. Our washer is 23 yrs old. Anyway when he submitted his findings Choice sent us an e-mail saying "We have decided to replace your appliance!" The e-mail then went on to say they were going to give us $343.00 in a gift card from Lowe's so we could buy a new one.

    First of all we paid good money for the warranty and we searched Lowe's website and store and could not find a washer for less than $500.00. So how could this be a good insurance policy? We will NOT be renewing with Choice. What a waste of money. I could have paid Sears myself to come out and fix the machine for less than what we paid for the annual policy thru Choice. What a RIP OFF. Don't waste your money!

    Need a new fan and control panel. Claim is being delayed by a request for proof of unrelated repair. In the past had an ice maker replaced by Samsung. Choice Warranty requires me to provide a proof of when it was done to process a new and unrelated repair. It seems that it is an attempt to not provide the service contracted for. We recommend Choice Warranty to 3 of our friends. Never received a free months of service that was promised. I will inform them of the failure to honor contractual obligations.

    Choice Home does excellent job in getting home appliances repaired. However, they don't provide good coverage if the appliances have to be replaced due to unavailability of the broken parts. This is understandable since appliances like refrigerator or AC systems can be extremely expensive to replace. I have been Choice customer for nearly 10 years and hope to stay with them in the future as well.

    The technician from Air Services came and diagnosed there had been an electrical fire inside the AC unit and had burnt up the hard start kit and the capacitor, as well as the contactor. I was informed that all three of those components would need to be replaced along with some wiring. Technician then checked the compressor and found it dysfunctional and then contacted Choice Home, explaining the problem and mentioning the equipment is old. I was then told my claim was rejected. This is unjust and unfair; I put money up front on the word of Choice Home that my equipment would be covered. What a fraud! I hereby request a refund on the rest of my funds that Choice Home is holding. I'm through with this company and will file a report with BBB.

    Choice Home Warranty is the worst and most inept company I've had to deal with. Not only has it taken a week for my new water heater to be approved and Purchase order submitted. Come install day and they ordered the wrong size. Now it has to go through the entire process over because of their mistake. Purchasing is closed over the weekend so nothing can get expedited or resolved. Supervisors here have zero brains in getting things done in a timely manner. Do Not Waste Your Money!

    My central air conditioner started freezing up back in early June, called and started a claim. Local called me almost 2 weeks later mid afternoon on a Friday, end of the month to say they were on their way to my house. There was no way I could meet them and I had thought I had fixed the a/c myself with opening a few closed vents around the home. Then it got really hot and according to the second local company's tech, all my issues stemmed from a leak in the closed freon system.     I have called choice at least 10 times since over the last 60 or more days only to be told the same line about needing more info from the technician, the choice representative calling the local company each time and telling me each time that choice should be getting the info from the local company. But here I am still waiting for a resolution while choice has continued to charge me a total of 4 more months premiums for my coverage which clearly has not done anything I was promised.

    Leaky water line and leaky shut-off valve. While these weren't urgent, they still required professional repair. I have found the true value of the home warranty isn't the peace of mind that if a major system breaks down it is covered. The true value is when these inconvenient little things arise that the average homeowner isn't skilled enough to fix. I have experienced a faulty wall outlet that knocked out electricity to the OTHER side of the room(never would have figured that out).

    Dishwasher door seal needed replaced, drain seal on kitchen sink leaking, wiring problem on ceiling light. Simple jobs that if you know what you're doing aren't really difficult. But if you don't, technicians want around $100 just to come to your house. And twice that to make repairs. Or, you could pay a flat $75 and be secure in the knowledge that the job's done right.     Thanks for the assistance with our dishwasher. The repair tech was thorough and explained the issue and how to watch for other issues. In the process of preparing we removed the 1/4" round trim and kick-plate that was visible and discovered that a deeper 1/4" round trim and kick plate. We removed it and laid it to the side. As the tech was finishing up, I picked up the extra or inside plate, turned it over and there is black mold on it. See photo. The black mold does not appear like this in a short time. This water/mold issue was completely covered up. We need to file a claim and get this resolved.

    Today was the first time we have filed a claim to have someone come out and look at our washer and dryer. First off the tech was an hour late for his appt window. He said he called us, but we never got a call. Once he was here he checked our washed and said it would be an expensive repair and he recommends replacing it.     We are new homeowners and have used the home warranty twice. The first time was to deal with a leaking refrigerator, and the second time to ask to have our locks rekeyed. In the first instance, the warranty service went well. A claim was submitted, a technician assigned, and the work was done the same day. We were VERY unsatisfied with our 2nd claim to have our home rekeyed. The technician assigned had an issue with CHW and chose not to follow their policies and refused to do the job. The technician was kind enough to call and tell me they would not be doing the work.

    I had to follow-up with CHW three times on this claim because they had no idea it wasn't getting done. Meanwhile, their automated service kept sending me the same email over and over again asking me to let them know when the work was completed. I called to explain what happened and was told that a new technician would be assigned. CHW could not find a new technician, but their system kept sending me the same auto-generated email stating they did.

    When I called the 2nd time, the claims assistant was low-key rude while explaining the reimbursement process. She stated that an email was sent to me explaining that we could find our own technician and apply for reimbursement. I received no such email. She then told me I could find the reimbursement link in the CHW claim portal. I could not find the link. She kept insisting it was there--it was not. She had neglected to tell me that there was an extra step involved to find the link. She did not explain the reimbursement "process" well, which led to my next CHW call.

    I hung up from that call and found my own technician within 5 minutes. I scheduled for him to come to my home the following day. When I clicked on the reimbursement link the following day, I received a message that reimbursement was no longer available because the claim had been assigned and the work was scheduled for 10/4 (a week in the future). I then checked my email and saw that my claim was assigned to a company in Kansas. At the same time, the technician we hired had arrived. I had to call and cancel the technician assigned on 10/4. Then I had to call CHW and explain I found my own technician because I felt it was unacceptable to wait 3 weeks to have locks rekeyed. The claims assistant informed me that I was using an unapproved technician and that they are not obligated to reimburse the claim.

    Apparently, I was supposed to click on the reimbursement link prior to the tech coming out, which would have notified their system to stop looking. This was not explained to me. Even so, I would not have been able to fill out the reimbursement completely because the technician hadn't provided the estimate yet. The claims assistant offered to escalate our claim to a manager. I then received an email with a link to begin the reimbursement process. Their system requires a diagnosis which includes a breakdown of parts, labor, and tax. The technician is supposed to fill this out and then wait to receive a text with an approval code. This is a ridiculous process to follow when you have had to find your own technician. The locksmith we hired did not wish to jump through the hoops. I submitted the diagnosis myself.

    The message stated I would receive an approval code via text within the next 10 minutes. It never came. Instead, I received an email stating that more information was needed from the technician. By now, our locksmith had completed the work, and was gone. I deleted this email, and was prepared to just pay out of pocket. A few minutes later, I received a follow-up email asking me to upload a copy of the invoice after the work was done. I did that, and received an automated response that I would receive a reimbursement check in 30 days. I'm not holding my breath.

    In my opinion, if a customer has to find their own technician, the only thing they should have to do is fill something out with the technician's name/contact info and upload the invoice. It is unacceptable to expect a technician that is not even contracted with CHW to follow their claims process and onerous requirements. This is a broken system that is not user friendly at all.

    Updated 10/04/2023: Do Not Use Choice Home Warranty. They sent a technician and he submitted the paperwork of what was needed, the claim was approved and they wanted $1,495.00 and I would pay the technician $3000.00 when installed, which does not seem like much insurance. They never ordered my unit. I live in Texas and it was 110. I was without air conditioning for 3 weeks, I canceled the order and have someone putting the unit in tomorrow.

    Original Review: Choice responded to the claim immediately. I had to fuel it online. They sent out a technician, he evaluated and submitted. Choice approved. I am going to be out of pocket around $4500. I cannot get in touch with anyone that can give me information regarding the brand or the SEER efficiency. I need more information about the unit they want to install. I think the out of pocket is very high. I would like to know if I can buy up to a more energy efficient unit.

    I called to file a claim, I was told my septic was not covered. But I purchased optional septic coverage with my contract. I had to argue several times what the contract said and I had the service. Finally she put the claim through, I tried to ask why it was not clear that I had paid for this service with the contract. She didn't seem to understand the question. I didn't have any more time to deal with this issue and just moved on.

    So let me start off by stating that all three of my previous claims have been continuously denied or have had to jump through hoops and wait weeks to months to resolve. Current issue is my water softener that started leaking and flooded my garage in the middle of the night. My house which I purchased a few years ago came with a water softener several years that is no longer made. After calling Choice Home Warranty for repairs, they initially took 2 days to assign the work order. After the plumber evaluated the water softener and specifically stated that the bypass valve was had broken due to normal wear and tear. The bypass valve was leaking because the O rings on the piston had worn down and blown out the piston on the bypass valve. Choice Home Warranty is refusing to cover the claim because they refuse to accept the plumber's recommendation that the part broke due to normal wear and tear.

    Choice home warranty denied my claim because they stated the bypass valve was physically broken and will not accept the plumber's diagnosis and the uploaded pictures showing the bad O rings on the piston. I've talked to four different people along with 2 case managers all of which refuse to honor the terms of service and coverage agreement. All systems (a) must become inoperative due to normal wear and tear; (b) must be located inside the main foundation or detached garage (with the exception of pool/spa, well pump, septic tank pumping, sprinkler system, and air conditioner); (c) must be in proper working order on the effective date of this home warranty Agreement. Known or unknown pre-existing conditions are not covered.

Called CHW and asked to re-schedule to earlier day, but response was: We aren't emergency Service!? 7 days without running water it's very bad.     I’ve had an issue with my oven for over 3 months. In the beginning, the schedule with the technician didn’t line up. Finally, when a technician came out he indicated were needed an electrician. An electrician came out, but he couldn’t do anything because the oven would have to be pulled out in order for him to reach the problem.     I called on a Saturday with a garage door that was inoperable with a broken spring, I could not get my car out to leave my house. I received an email from Choice telling me a technician would be at my house Monday 7am-11am. On Monday Morning I received an email from Choice that it would be Tuesday morning, 3 days from my call, but the worst part was delaying it another day so I had already made arrangements to meet technician before I was told it was moved to Tuesday. Also, Choice sent the email telling me Monday knowing they didn't have confirmation from the company. I think there should be a different process level for an issue where a customer can't leave their home vs a call on a dishwasher etc. Had I known on Saturday it might be Tuesday, I might have paid my own technician to come out instead of missing work for 3 days.     Choice is a fraud and a scam. Avoid them at all costs. Multiple claims rejected for nonsense reasons. No effort to help you get back up and running quickly. They will do whatever they can to find a reason to deny your claim, or not reimburse you for urgent service. The technicians they send are terrible. Multiple times they haven’t kept their appointments. If they find something wrong they will send another technician out to find some other reason not to cover the issue. I have never dealt with such a dishonest company in my life. Currently have an AC coil leaking. Same thing - say they don’t cover physical damage that’s not normal wear and tear. What else could it be? What a joke.

    I’m without AC for a week in Houston (100+degree temps) while waiting for them to respond, send techs out, appeal, etc. only to then be denied for unjustified reasons. Actually, the reason stated is that the unit covered has physical damage. That’s what they are there for!!!! Wear and tear causes physical damage. Then the company they sent out sends me a quote for repair that is 5x at least what the cost of repair should be.

    I spoke with claims yesterday September 22nd 2023. The lady I spoke to told me that I could go ahead and use the reimbursement process because they were unable to find me a contractor. And the way she explained it to me when I was on the phone yesterday is that I could go ahead and reach out to any contractor which I chose Roto-Rooter.

    I told her at that time I would use the reimbursement process and that she would walk me through it after I find someone to do the work. I told her at that time I will be calling Roto-Rooter which I did that. Came out this morning did the work charge me $350 when I call claims they told me that I went about it the wrong way and I would not be reimbursed so in line of that I am planning to cancel my contract because I was lied to.
