    The company that came out showed up on time and was great! He repaired the springs on the dishwasher door, but recommended that they be replaced. Unfortunately Choice didn’t share his professional opinion and blamed it on normal wear and tear even when the dishwasher was only 2 yrs old. We’ll see what happens.

    I was disturbed that not only did we wait a week for service but when offered a replacement dishwasher the I found out that I would have to wait 3-4 weeks to get any money.     I just palced a call for my Gas Stove with one burner not having enough gas while other three are fine. They send a technician who took the pictures of stove and CHW decided not fix it because the ignitor is not fine. I try to explain the case manager that if I don't use ignitor (at power fail) and manually use ignition, the gas flow should work. His attitude was NO what technician said is final. Thanks. They did similar thing last year with my refrigerator ice maker saying "It have to be changed, and we will not cover," all it needed is a heat blower to melt the ice and it is working fine. STAY AWAY from CHW, they good only for garbage disposal repair.

    Despite the failure of my garage door spring bracket from use, CHW did not cover it. A bolt had lost its nut due to constant rotation of the spring to open the door.     CHW is hit or miss. I have had 3 requests for service in the past two years. Washing machine needed a new mother board. Tech came out within a few days. Diagnosed, got notified next day that we CHW would pay us for a new washer. Negative was that they heavily devalued the wash. I didn’t even get half of what the replacement would cost. Next time was my AC. It took them 3 weeks to get someone here. Customer service sucked with the CHW representatives. They just talk in circles. 3rd time was for a toilet that wasn’t filling up. Submitted on a Saturday evening. Had an appointment on Wednesday. The plumber was friendly. Diagnosed and got approved by Choice in 10 minutes. Installed parts and was gone within a 30 minute period. He also showed up on time.

    To begin with the person who typed up the claim did not know what she was doing. I needed 4 things done and she did 3 claims, not telling me I would have to pay 3 co-pays. This was on 10/3.     The tech I had to obtain myself is excellent. Che, not so much. 18 days no water already. The dispatch team, clueless, assigned someone from another state, then assigned someone who does home remodeling. Clearly there is no supervision of these people who are working from home, because, when I ask for a supervisor, none available. “Oh, they have other tasks to do”. Seriously?!?! I have a disabled parent with me, unable to flush toilets, no one from CHW cares!! I would like my ALL my premiums back that I have paid in since 2019 , because, it looks like I will be paying out of pocket anyway, which I don’t have, since the website hasn’t allowed my tech to upload the diagnosis.     While the service was excellent from the plumber that came out, the wait time of getting a plumber assigned to our case was extremely slow. We filed a claim on October 17, it took until October 20th for a service company to be assigned. Due to their schedule, it took another 4 days for them to get to us. Meanwhile, we had standing water in our dishwasher and both kitchen sinks that had an extremely unpleasant odor. It made living in our home very uncomfortable. This is not the experience that we had hoped for when we chose this warranty company just a couple of months ago. I sincerely hope that this was just a fluke and not an indication of the service we will receive in the future.

    We purchased Choice Home Warranty. We are currently making our first claim. We made the claim last Saturday, the tech they sent did a no call no show Thursday. Instead of making us the first call Friday we had another all day appointment Saturday, this time they called at the end of the day to let us know they wouldn't make it. We called Choice and were instructed to find our own tech. We did and paid a $159 diagnostic fee which was sent to Choice Home Warranty. They took 3 days to respond to it and declined the work and are trying to dispatch their tech again.

    I asked numerous times to cancel the plan and get a full refund however they said we would have to pay for the time we had them, although this is the first time we have ever made a call and all they've done is delay the work 2 week, cause us to wait around for a tech who never arrived to separate times, throw away a $159 diagnostic fee with another company and meet that tech in our house. Very disappointed.

Please try to give a better estimate of arrival time, so this can be avoided in the future.     I took out a 6 year contract in Oct 2019. I had 3 small claims which only involved Choice paying about 55 dollars. Each Time I paid 65 dollars. In October of this year my furnace was tag out due to the Heat exchanger leaking. I filed a claim, they sent out a company that did not have a clue about what they were looking at, They reported that the exchanger was rusted out, which was correct. Nowhere in the section about the heating system heaving was noted. They refused to pay for it. Then they said look at section 8 where there are several reasons they can refuse to to pay for anything that a person can claim. I have two years left on the contract which I canceled. The refund should have been around 780 dollars, but they are only refunding around 260 dollars.

    I called customer service to make a claim for my washing machine instead of using the Online method. I wanted to describe the unique issues that occurred with my washer so this could be relayed to the service technician. The person I got was bad. I had to keep requesting that she repeat herself as it seemed she was reading from a script and not listening to my problem. She finally got everything I said about the issue recorded and then she told me that my service fee was $100 and not $75 as it showed on my contract which I had opened during the called.

    When I told her of the error, she put me on HOLD for about 15 minutes while she went to check if my service fee was $100. After she came back, I told her I couldn't wait any longer and to just charge me the $100 as I needed to make the claim and not debate with her what my service was. I told her I will follow-up with customer service later about the confusion. She finally took my credit card information and gave me a claim number. I later found out that she used the credit card number I had on file - not the number I gave her from a different card (I got an email from the credit that a charge was made to my account).

    I finally called customer service back and was told that my service fee was in fact $75 and that I was only charge $75 not $100. I was also not pleased with not being able to contact my account manager directly so that I communicate the problems with my washer and make the claim with a person - not a robot online. I would prefer speaking to a person - even though I know the company is busy. I think there is a better way to handle customer claims or inquiries instead of referring them to the online portal.

    Otherwise, I was very please with how quickly an appointment date and time was made and when the service provider contacted me and service that was provided - even though my washer isn't repaired yet due to the need to order parts, which is sometimes unavoidable. Hopefully, the parts will come in about a week and I will get my washer repaired. I had to go to a laundry mat to wash clothes for 5 days for 3 people. This was most inconvenient but necessary.     I don't think this company or its technicians work on the weekend so you are at your own mercy on the weekend which was the unfortunate experience with me and my husband. We had a water heater leak over the weekend. No actionable response. We fixed it ourselves by replacing the supply line. Well, about a week later, the water heater gave out because the leak destroyed some of the water heater electrical components. It took weeks for Choice Home Warranty to get a technician to come out. The tech that was chosen postponed the appointment for weeks and Choice Home Warranty did not select an alternate technician. We waited almost a month. Choice Home Warranty was not very responsive and I don't think they screen the technicians they choose. The technician chosen for our situation was quite rude and so was his telephone rep. You could tell they were independent contractors or small mom and pop shop.

    You call to find out if they are coming or what the alternate time may be. Instead of simply answering the question of when they are coming out (after a no-show during the appointment window), or providing any apology, they tell you what they are doing somewhere else – no answer to providing you a time like you asked. So, you ask for the time again. They don’t know. So, you mention that you have plans like going to lunch. You are told you can go to lunch (like excuse me, lol) but response to even an approximate service time. You can tell the telephone representative has no idea how presumptuously rude that is. You tell Choice Warranty, they do nothing.

    The technician had no idea of the difference between and invoice/bill or receipt is. None of them give invoices. I think they want to get paid under the table. I ask for an invoice and he goes on about a receipt and how I am going to pay. I explain that a receipt is not an invoice and ask for one again. You could tell that did not bode well. So, he goes back in my water heater closet as I am asking if I’m going to get an invoice and he says, softly “no.” I can tell they have no business sense. That is common with tradesmen, I suppose. Low overhead, I guess just working makeshift, entrepreneurial-wise.

    The technician had difficulty turning the water valve shut-off at the street. I had my husband on speaker as he said it’s difficult to turn and repeated it to them before they tried. So, as they were trying, I repeated, “he said it was difficult to turn.” The technician defensively says, ‘I didn’t say that.” I said no, my husband said that when he was on speaker, remember? So repeatedly defensive, I asked my husband to come home as this didn’t make any sense to be that defensive. Although we didn’t have a need for one, you would expect a plumber to have a curb key. Meanwhile, I only would know they were having a difficulty of any kind because, and seeing how non-communicative they were, I kept my eyes and ears open and overheard.

    The telephone representative called for payment before they got started. I told her that I found that to be unusual as I have not received the services yet. She wanted to give me assurances that my water heater will be replaced. Then began to tell me the ins and outs of her day and why she couldn’t wait until services are rendered to run the payment, she has other things to do; how she is supposed to get payment at the door; how it’s in my contract. It’s not in my contract with Choice Home Warranty. Other tradesmen asked for payment after services for render both from Choice Home Warranty and those professional services I purchased myself. She became so upset she said she was going to get off the phone with me and call the technician and tell him to stop.

    What makes this debacle worse, and the part that has to do with Choice Home Warranty specifically is as follows. Their technician/installer apparently connected the electrical wiring to the brand-new water heater wrong causing my breaker to trip. This happened within a week and Choice Home Warranty made me pay another $75 service fee when it was their original technician's fault and the water heater is was never really operable – like three days. Once the electrical connection was fixed by the second technician, the water heater was leaking the same day. Brand new water heater was now damage. This is the part you need to beware of as a reader.

    Choice Home Warranty then sends me an email that IAW my contract an item under manufacturer's warranty is not covered. LMAO. It's the water heater they put in and are still responsible for. Services were not rendered. Choice Home Warranty should have had another technician come out and replace the water heater they put in instead of replying to me that the water heater they put in is under manufacturer’s warranty and they do not cover items under manufacturer’s warranty.

    So now, I have replied to them accordingly – that you contract is about items I placed in/purchased for my home that are under manufacturer’s warranty – not items you guys put into my home and especially a day or two after repairing the same item. Really? Convenient interpretation. They used the power of persuasion in telling me to the section and verse of the contract. I practice contract law. I know how this goes. Don’t try to tell me what it says to influence me. I have critical thinking skills.

    Labor is not covered in the contract so you are open to whatever labor costs. But, at least Home Choice Warranty tells you first. But, the long drawn out response time, technician response time, suspected they don’t work on the weekend – Home Choice Warranty or technicians – for something so destructive as a water leak… The water heater they choose was cheap and basic. The review on the water heater was 50/50.

    I have requested professionals through CHW for three jobs. For the appliance failure, they have consistently been able to secure help quickly with a turnaround time of about a week. Unfortunately, CHW should have a policy of replacement after a couple of failures to the same appliance because the cost of fixing it seems to now have exceeded the price of a brand new one. Second, it must be clarified that the maximum reimbursement for septic tank failure is $500, but this type of cost easily runs into the $2,000-3,000 range!     They sent cheap contractors to fix my stove. 3 months later it broke down again. I had to spend another service call fee to submit claim again. They sent another contractor and then denied the claim with reason "not a normal wear/tear down...". I bought a total of 6 policies for my rental homes. I've submitted some but most of them were denied with reasons like "issue was already, ...not normal wear/tear..." I ended up calling my own contractors to fix issues.     So far, I have dealt with Stephen and Aaron. We talked on the phone and I didn't have my hearing aids on and they were so patient and kind. Both were thoroughly knowledgeable about my coverage. Aaron did the follow up call and I am glad he did because I couldn't find the confirmation email. I never thought to look in the spam/junk folder.

    I contacted Choice Home Warranty because Pat B, who lives in NC, moved into a home which was covered by their service. She ended up having to call Choice within a few months of moving in because the dishwasher broke, the mother board just failed, and Choice had it working as soon as they received the part. Thankfully, she renewed her policy. Her dishwasher broke again, the mother board, and all she did was make a call to Choice and they took care of the problem. The deductible was $100, that is all she paid. The part, without labor, was $370. That is why she recommended Choice and why I chose to purchase the plan.

    Like most homeowners, I do not expect anything in my house to break. Most of my appliances are new, many are still under the extended warranty plans that we purchased with the units. It is nice to have this insurance because one never knows if a water pipe might break, or a toilet breaks, or a refrigerator, stove, or freezer breaks. Still, I chose to be covered, just in case. Stephen really knew how to address my concerns and I believe he found the right coverage for my home. 3 1/2 years of peace of mind.

    To whom it may concern, I just had a recent problem with my refrigerator. And mind you I have been with your company since 2019 and the service guy came out. And we told him we had a leak and that the unit had just stop working. He told us the water had leaked to the motherboard and they didn’t make that part anymore. I called Choice Home back and they said they wouldn’t cover that because the line was stopped us and it was our fault.

    So I said how could that be my fault the line was stopped up. And the lady proceeded to argue with me that it not covered. So this was not the first problem I have had with the company. Back in November of 2022 I had a leaking sink problem that your company never got fixed. They kept sending out the same company to come fix the problem and then they would set up companies that don’t even do home warranty work. So I guess by my tone you can tell I’m a little bit mad. So today since we couldn’t come to a resolution I canceled my plan after 4 years of service. The lady in your resolution department was very rude. Not customer service friendly at all.

    I want you to know I’m going to tell my family members who have contacts with you to cancel them and I will not be referring anyone else. The lady I talked to offered me 150.00 on a new refrigerator which was an insult to my intelligence knowing refrigerator’s are upward around 1200.00 dollars. This message probably won’t get to the right person but I wrote it anyway if it does my number is ** and you can give me a call if you like. Most companies I know of would hate to lose one customer and let alone one that has been there long as I have. It just shows your upper management doesn’t really care about your business.

    Called for AC stopped working. The claim was processed same day and a technician arrived the day after and temporarily repaired the AC. The technician placed a request to CHOICE for a faulty switch causing the breakdown, therefore the ticket is still open, waiting the approval from CHOICE. The switch, photo attached, is not expensive and the techno warned me that CHOICE may not approve the replacement since the the AC has been reworked to bypass the switch.     On Thursday October 12th 2023 a plumbing leak was discovered and I filed a claim on-line for a plumber at 7:00 pm. The next day around 12 noon October 13th the work order had been assigned to Hazel Plumbing. The appointment was set for Saturday October 14th between 3pm-8pm. At about 7 pm on the 14th call was placed to Hazel Plumbing to verify the time of arrival. The response was that he was on a job on Virginia and it wouldn't be possible to come until Monday the 16th.

    I called and texted Hazel Plumbing on Monday the 16th at 7:35am to get confirmation of the appointment and received no response. I tried calling again at 12pm the voice mail was not accepting new messages. Now it was time to inform Choice Home Warranty and get their assistance with Hazel Plumbing. The customer service representative called while I was on hold and the call went to an unavailable voicemail. She told me that a message would be sent and I should hear from the plumber or Choice. I called Choice back on Tuesday after 24 hours to find out what was going on and she tried calling Hazel Plumbing again without any success.

    There I was told by the customer service representative to be patient and wait for Hazel Plumbing to respond because they may be busy on another job. In the meantime, my leak hasn't went away and I have no idea if this plumber will ever arrive. I had to ask the representative to reassign the work order to someone else and it's been 5 days since the original claim was made. I decided to research Hazel Plumbing on Google and a review that gave me confirmation of their relationship with home warranty company job made a month ago. The reviewer gave Hazel Plumbing one star for lack of professionalism and disregard of the customer's time along with work performance. I personally can agree with the absence of professionalism. Choice Home Warranty needs to do better.

    Choice Home Warranty (CHW) is not for urgent or emergency repairs. Wait times are very long, usually 2 weeks or more for a technician to check aka “diagnose” the problem and then another 2-4 weeks for the actual repair. About replacing appliance/unit VS repairing, CHW almost always repairs even when the appliance/unit is not repairable. For example I have a refrigerator that was repaired 4 times in the past year with labor cost of more than $1000 plus more for parts. The technicians said it is not repairable and warranty company should replace it. I spoke to CHW about replacement multiple times and got denied. Then I called multiple times to at least give me the money that it costs for labor as that will help me in buying a new refrigerator. Again denied. The refrigerator stops working after a few months, I submit a claim, they send out technician for repair. Stuck in Groundhog Day.
