    I contacted Choice Home Warranty for a furnace contractor. The contractor showed up on time and was very polite. After examine the furnaces and determining the noise he made a recommendation to solve that issue. He also suggested that the furnaces are in need of replacing. I am having a bad dust problem and the furnaces seems to be the issue. They did quote me new equipment. They showed up the next day at my request to answer some questions. The contractor said the furnaces are not repairable and need to be replaced. I asked him to write this up for Choice to see what could be done. The next day I get a notice from Choice saying the contractor said everything is in good working order.

    I have had another contractor in to give me his opinion. He took numerous photos of problems and also recommended the equipment should be changed out. He made a comment that the previous contractor should have made a few minor repairs while he was there. How do you proceed with Choice on something like this. I have a third contractor coming Monday for another opinion. I am paying for these people to come out and determine the problem and solution.

    I had water gushing from the Hot water heater room. I am disabled and could not open the door to the hot Water heater room to see what the problem was. I submitted a plumbing leak claim. The plumber came out and told me that I had a broken water heater and no shut off valve. So I continue to be without water. Based on the plumber's report, your company told me that I now have to submit a new claim (hot water heater) and that a new tech will have to be assigned and come out to my house.

    I called your company. I talked to Mike about getting the second service call fee waived, because this is all part of the same issue (water leaking whether from a pipe or a broken water heater tank). I was quoted Section B, Paragraph 4. A service fee is required for each service call. I would agree, but this is all the same claim. How was I suppose to know that my problem was not a pipe, but the water heater? Your company will still need to send out a plumber to replace the hot water heater. Do you use different plumbers for hot water heater issues?

    I am disable and do not understand the requirement for a second fee needing to be paid when it is all part of the same issue. I will most likely be without water for over a week now. I await to hear back from you and a reasonable explanation as to this issue. Is a broken water line to a refrigerator ice maker a refrigerator issue or a plumbing issue? How would a customer know until it is investigated, and the customer has to pay two service call fees because it is not the refrigerator but a broken water line.

    The control panel went up and rather than replace it I was offered only two options, a gift card at Lowe’s or a check for less than the control panel cost. I asked to have the control panel but that wasn’t an option. Basically, I am paid only a third of what a new stove will cost me when I could continue using my current stove with a new control panel. My previous experience has been good but this time it was not. The appeal claims manager basically said that’s it either take the gift card or check. I asked to appeal that decision however he said no appeals.

    Took way too long to get a technician out. We have been without heat for a week. Called and escalated everyday. Finally tech comes out. Needs an expensive part inducer motor and recommends new furnace. Choice denies claim in 2 minute. Spoke to case manager. Claim was denied due to physical damage stating and I kid you not the part is broken that is physical damage recharge noted failure due to normal wear and tear.

    Claim denied. Phone conversation 2/23/2024: My wife, Kim and Choice rep. The rep stated that the wires in the unit had been severed contributing to refusing our claim, implying that we had cut the wires. Our first view of the wiring harness was when the tech removed the top inside panel of the unit. His explanation: 9+ yrs of opening/closing the door simply wore out the harness.

    My washing machine stopped working on 2/2/2024. I knew my warranty was not enforced yet. We were able to go on YouTube and got it to start working again. The problem at the time was the filter, so we cleaned it out and the machine worked without a problem. Washing a load of clothes on 2/18/2024, and the machine did the same thing. Cleaned out the filter, but it would not work. The warranty company sent someone out to check the machine, to find out that the pump on the machine needed to be replaced. Called the claim in only to be told that it was a preexisting issue. How could it be preexisting if the issue before was the filter.? We got it working only to have it stop, but now it is preexisting!! That make no sense to me. Long story short, my claim was denied, now they want me to come out of pocket, for something that was beyond my control!! Not a happy customer!!

    I still have a garbage disposal that doesn't work. I FULLY explained the situation and Choice Home Warranty sent out a tech leading me to believe the claim was approved.     Choice Home Warranty stinks with their warranty. It still cost me over $700.00 to get my Air condition unit fixed. And for a Senior citizen that's quite a bit of money to be spending on this. That's why I purchased the warranty in the first place, so if there was a problem it would be covered. But the Air Condition company that did the work though, was top notch along with the Techs that were involved. A+ for them. I would recommend them way before I would recommend Choice Home Warranty.

    We didn't have a very good experience with Choice Home Warranty the very first time. We had called, and they said, “Oh, well, we can't get anybody in that area. So, go ahead and get your own.” So, we did. Then two weeks after we had sent them the receipts, they said, “Oh, well, no. We've got somebody for you.” That wasn't the original thing. So, it was a mess. We were not very happy with them. After that, we were going to just cancel them. We had two minor things happen after that though, and they got somebody who was able to take care of it.

    The latest incident was a dishwasher, and they took care of that. It turned out to be the thermostat and the heating element. The contractors were good. I liked the guy who came out. He did a good job and was very honest. I'd tell a friend to be very careful when considering Choice. It all depends on the area you're in. If you're in a big city and they have lots of people that they can choose from, it might be a good deal. But when you are in rural areas, it's hard for them to find people to do it. We spoke to several contractors, and they said, “No. We don't deal with them because it's hard to ever even get paid.” There are plenty of people to do service work, but they won't deal with Choice.

    I would not recommend Choice Home Warranty. I don't feel I'm protected with them. The pricing was very high. They gave me a lot of promises, but when I used the warranty, not so much. My commode downstairs kept running, and it just needed to be repaired. When the contractor came, they tried to push me into doing a lot of things that I didn't call about. They charged me the $65 service fee, but they didn't stop the toilet from running. I had to put a sign on the toilet for people when they came into my home. Had a lot of people in because it was my son who passed away, and I had a funeral here at the house. So, I had to put a sign on the commode for people to lift the handle up so it would stop running.

    They could have at least fixed that, but they tried to come back the following week, and they wanted to rebuild all four of the toilets in my home and charge me $1,550 to do it. Not replace them, but to rebuild four toilets. And all they would do was fix the thing that they should have fixed in the first place. I felt they knew what was going on. I was taken advantage of once I had time to kind of think about it. Someone's coming to replace two toilets in my home today, which I'm paying out-of-pocket for, and I paid out-of-pocket for the other ones to be replaced.

    When I called the plumber who I used to use prior to me getting Choice, I asked him the same thing. “What's the difference between replacing the toilet and repairing the toilet?” He said, “When you're rebuilding the toilet, you're putting off the inevitable. It's eventually gonna have to be replaced, because you’re gonna be just retaking the parts out on the inside of the toilet and putting them back, putting some other parts and stuff in there. But it doesn't cost any more to replace than it does to repair.” The same for the parts.

    When we went to Home Depot, it would be under $50 for the pieces for them to replace inside the toilet. They said that the type of toilets that were put in, because these are builders with the builder grade and that over time, these things have worn out and would need to be replaced, and the type of toilets that I had, weren't energy-efficient at the time. So, I don't know what replacing those parts would do in terms of making it energy-efficient. That was how come I just went on ahead and rebought the toilet, and a friend of mine installed the toilet for me. And he's coming to install two others today because I'm having the same type of problem with the one in my bathroom.

    Even shaking the handle doesn't work anymore because it's not suctioning to catch inside the toilet. That's how come the water keeps running because the thing that sucks down and stops once the commode fills up is broken. It would be cheaper for me to buy a new toilet. Especially if I got somebody who would put them in for me and would not charging me anything.

    They also tried to sell me something about the hot water heater as well. It's the element that's in the hot water heater and they said that Choice wouldn't pay for that to be repaired. I don't understand that because I had a problem with the hot water heater before when I was under Choice. The gentleman came out and looked at it, so he said, “If it goes out again, I'm gonna recommend you get a new hot water heater.” That was a different plumbing company. So if I would have problems with my hot water heater, I intend on calling and asking Choice who were the first plumbers that they sent out here, because the recent tech said that he would recommend a new water heater replacement. They to told me Choice is would not pay for it and so they tried to find a way to write it up so it could be paid for. I felt I was being gamed by them.

    Choice Home Warranty has been good to me. The guy who dealt with me was very persevering and convincing. He started with a one year, brought the price down for the year, and told me two years. After that, I had heard about another home warranty which was cheaper. I got back to him and said, "I don't think I need to take this." I didn't tell him why. I didn't want to make him feel bad about it. I said, "I've changed my mind." He went on and insisted, but he gave me an excellent deal for three and a half years. That was a lot of money for me to put down at my age being a senior citizen, but I decided to give it a shot. So, I am covered up to 2025, March or June.

    I've called Choice six times, and all six times, they have been good. They would say in 48 hours someone would contact me. The company Choice employed to do it would call back and they me what time they would be there or they would text, and it would work out fine. Everyone who came came on time. If they couldn't, they would let me know. If I couldn't have them, they were understanding. They would let me know when. And they did an excellent job each time.

    I had a bad experience for the first time. I came into my home and I found that my icemaker was not working. I called Choice, but it must have been three weeks after I moved in and I had just taken the home warranty. I said, "You know, you have to understand. This is the first time I'm doing something like this." And they said, "We will not cover it because you haven't finished one month with having signed up for the home warranty." I said, "But please understand, this is the first time I'm doing this. And if I had to wait for one month, I would have waited. But I had no idea. Probably I overlooked that clause. So, would you please get it done?" They said, "No." I got it done myself. I paid a lot of money, but that was the only bad experience.

    Other than that, I always got very good people. The ones who came to do my garage, my fan, the refrigerator and microwave not working, and the plumbing, have been excellent. The commode was leaking at the bottom. The tech took the whole thing out, changed the ring, took pictures, and it worked perfectly. He was very good and honest. After two weeks, I found that it began to do the same thing again. So, I called him. He was here in a couple of hours, opened the whole thing and redid it. He opened up the pipes underneath the sink, cleaned them out and did whatever he had to do and it worked. My bathtub also began to flood a bit when I went to shower and he said, "You know, there's nothing to do there, you just have to pour some Coca-Cola down the drain." He said it would melt out all the hair or dirt that's there. Leave it for half an hour, put hot water and it would go, and it worked.

    I made two claims during my first month of warranty service. Neither claim was fulfilled. The first was a sewage leak that they said I could be reimbursed because they would not be able to service in a reasonable time frame. The second was a gas leak in my furnace (the gas company came out and turned off the gas). Choice initially said it would have a contractor provided within six hours, then 24 hours, then another 24 hours, and then a provider could look at it a full four days later, leaving me without heat in Wisconsin during winter for nearly 5 days. I asked to cancel this service since it appeared they are unable to help my area but they stated they could only refund $300 of $500, even though I did not use their service and they were unable to provide service. Terrible company.

    The young man who came out was very knowledgeable when it came to unclogging our kitchen sink, but the lack of communication was an issue with us. He spoke spanish and we did not. We did use google translate but there was still a major communication barrier. We have no idea how it got clogged or what was clogging it, More information would have been very beneficial to us to make sure this doesn't happen again.

    Technician diagnosed microwave as needing a new keypad only, instead of replacing the keypad, I am being issued a gift card to Lowe's for $197. This does not cover the price of a new microwave or the installation. Will be cancelling policy ASAP.     Service for pool heater refused as it is a heat pump. All non gas heaters are now heat pumps. Very little difference between hvac and pool heaters. Further upon membership I was not told of any noncoverage or distinguish between the two. Further you actually sent out a heat pump pool vendor. I was refused a copy of agreement prior to joining which possibly would have prevented this as your salesperson was not interested in making me aware of this.     My furnace went out in the middle of the night on a Tuesday. The next morning I received a message from Choice that they had set up an appt for my repair, for the following Monday. On what planet is that acceptable for a furnace repair in February in SE Michigan??? I ended up having to find my own furnace repair company, who happened to be an approved Choice vendor. Then I had to make a series of calls to make sure that Choice would approve their visit for three that afternoon. You need to work on how you assign jobs to your vendors. Don't give it to the first vendor who replies, give it to the one who can do the home repair the soonest!

    Choice Home Warranty should not even be in business. My 80 year old mother bought a 3 year warranty with them. She thought she was getting a great deal. Their prices are lower but believe me their customer service reflects it. They make every excuse not to cover items. About 2 years into her contract her a/c finally broke down. Mind you, “fixes” were being made for the two years prior. Her a/c went out in August. In Texas! She was without power for almost two weeks. TWO WEEKS!! When they finally decided to respond, they paid her $350 for the a/c unit. She was out of pocket $12,000.

    What type of warranty is that? Later her microwave went out and they gave her $75. It is an installed microwave. Good luck finding any for less than $300. Next was her oven. They kept coming out to “fix“ it for 6 months. The heat was 140 degrees below what we were shooting for. It was uneven in front and back. They told us old ovens tend to lose heat. We entertain church friends but we had to buy a toaster oven to get by. It finally conked out. We were given $175 for an oven. Really? Don’t even get me started on their customer service and how long it took them to respond and then book an appt. Oh yes, her dryer completely went out and they gave her $50. You have to use Lowe’s or Home Depot.

    I can’t remember which one but ONLY that one business. Whichever it was, the other company had much better deals. They send you an e-card and it expires. For no more than they gave her, we went somewhere else and chose not to use the credit because we found it cheaper without the credit. They are super helpful when you are signing up. Promise you the moon. Tripping over each other to get you to sign up. Once they get their money, you are on your own. I live with my mom so I was present for this entire relationship with this company. As soon as her term expired we went RUNNING to another company. We do NOT recommend Choice Home Warranty. Buyer Beware!

    The shady contractor they sent out never went on my roof at all because he was told I had a tile roof which it is a shingle roof and so he stated that he would be back the next day. So I called him and left message, nothing. Then I get an email that the claim was denied. I called Choice for a review for the partial roof replacement was a lie. I hired a roof guy to inspect my roof. He said roof wood was good, paper padding was good and shingles were rolled over but not damaged. He did recommend 3 new shingles to cover nailed area again. Since shingles could not be purchased separately he bought a whole box which cost $50 and he repaired roof for a total of $135.

    Choice did offer to pay $125 but only if I used the guy they sent previously to my house! No way am I allowing that guy on my roof after what he lied about. They said that is the only way so I told her that I will cancel my roof coverage that I pay extra for and did so for years leading up to this first claim. I am not happy but I will see if they treat my refrigerator that needs repair the same way before I stay or leave them completely. I am not happy. Pictures of my roof added here since they said I never supplied them previously which is not true.

The issue with my home heater began when it started emitting a disconcerting humming noise. Concerned for my family's safety, I promptly turned off the thermostat, waited a few hours, and restarted it. However, due to the persistent irritating noise, I purchased a room heater from Home Depot to ensure my family's comfort during the cold weather and promptly reported the issue to Choice Home Warranty, as I had a three-year coverage plan.

    Choice Home Warranty promptly filed the claim and assigned a technician from CB Mechanical Service. Unfortunately, the technician, upon inspecting the heating system, claimed to be short on time and left without attempting to rectify the issue, citing the need to replace the blower motor. He charged a service fee of $75 and departed. Subsequent attempts to follow up revealed delays in obtaining the replacement motor. Despite assurances from the company, there were repeated setbacks in scheduling and resolving the issue. This situation has left my family in discomfort, especially considering the cold weather, and my children have fallen ill as a result. After numerous frustrating interactions, I pleaded with Choice Home Warranty to change the repair company, which they did, assigning JC&JC HVAC with an appointment scheduled for 2/19/2024.

    I implore you to take immediate action to resolve this matter. The prolonged delay and repeated unfulfilled promises have created an untenable situation for my family, particularly with the temperature dropping to 20 degrees. The only opportunity I have seen thus far is that they need to better close the loop with service providers around finishing the job for the customer.     I'm not happy with Choice Home Warranty. I was complaining about the light in my laundry room. There was a guy that showed up here who just collected the service fee but did not come back. It's been more than a month now. I also called in for the refrigerator. It got fixed. But after a few days, it was broken again. They sent someone again. It got fixed for three days then it got broken again. Now it's scheduled again for the 19th. I signed up for the Platinum plan. I told them that there's something wrong with the septic's control panel. Up to now, they have not sent anybody. The lights in my hallway and my driveway are not fixed as well. I used to be with American Home Shield. But when Choice offered a cheaper rate, I took it. I wish I did not transfer.

    The first time around was great. Second time around, no one gave me a straight answer. I had to submit two claims. It's an older house. The first claim went wonderfully well, straight through, and was taken care of. The second one, on the other hand, was the most horrible experience I've had with any company. It was for a hot water heater. It took over a month and a half for Choice Home Warranty to tell me that they wouldn't cover it. I was told by the first technician to purchase a type of equipment. I did and no one covered it, and it cost me $375. It was terrible.

    Choice sent out three technicians so they could get the answer they wanted. The final gentleman that they sent was nice. And he found and installed a water heater for me outside the purview of Choice Home Warranty. I didn't even get the problem solved by them. I was very disappointed. I went without hot water in my new home for five weeks. I called customer service every other day. They would respond back but not in the most seemingly appropriate way. Got a different answer or no answer, or they would send someone else out, they were still waiting on information.

    I have been dealing with this ongoing issue with my ice-maker not making ice. I've made claims to CHW & people have come out to the house. The issue was NEVER fixed. Finally a Sears technician came to the house and found the problem right away that was NOT seen nor addressed by the other subcontractors. Why did CHW use those subcontractors (who don't always know what they're doing) thereby prolonging the problem? So CHW spared no time in coming to their conclusion that we're not covered for a real remedy. If a replacement door isn't available, then what? A different fridge/freezer. Nope says CHW! Not covered in my policy (even though I have the most coverage possible). I'm very disappointed. ALL HOME WARRANTY COMPANIES ARE THE SAME! No one is out there that will really help you. You have to do your due diligence and research the appliance you want to buy. Home Warranty companies just take your money.

    I called about my AC unit building a block of ice inside of the unit. Choice sent 3 AC companies and none of them ever checked. I had to get my own HVAC company to check it and when it was determined that the defrost board was bad Choice denied the claim.     Choice is cheaper than American Home Warranty, which is another company that I went through. I took them on the consideration that they would get local people because I live in Oklahoma. It's spread out and it takes a while for people to respond to a service call out here. But they don't tell you that sometimes you can use people that you know in your area who do that for a living. You make a claim and then, they go on their computer and find their people that they've worked with. But those people are 60 miles away.

    I had a similar problem with Choice. I had a toilet that was plugged up and I did this on the 28th of January. They responded back on the 2nd of February telling me that they won't have anybody out there until the 7th of February. This is a toilet being backed up so I had to do it myself and I cancelled the claim. To get my own guy, I have to contact Choice the next day and tell them that I'm gonna use a guy that I normally go through when I have this problem. They'll send me an email saying okay and I have to fill out a form and send it in. Then, they’ll review it. So that's a good thing. But sometimes they make the process a little bit too difficult. I paid three years of the warranty with Choice and I got this year left on it. So, I'm gonna be doing some more shopping.

    I am telling you up front - This company only cares about taking your money. My toilet was clogged, they wouldn't cover because Tech had to remove toilet to unclog - so they only covered to have someone use plunger / snake. Which I had already did, doesn't take a special person for that.
