    I submitted a claim to CHW for a plumbing issue (bathtub drain clogged) and it was resolved within a few days. The plumbing company assigned by CHW was unable to clear the drain clog the first time around but came back with a motorized snake a couple days later and cleared the clog. The plumbing company did an excellent job in clearing the drain clog. CHW did an excellent job in keeping me up to date with the status of my claim. They are very customer oriented and a pleasure to do business with. I highly recommend CHW to my friends and family.

    Buyer beware. This is the most dishonest and deceptive company I’ve ever dealt with. They will never cover the big repairs. Had my AC diagnosed by many of their own techs who said we needed coil replacement. Choice would only approve pumping it with sealant and refrigerant. They will never make the right repair, only the cheap one

    Your technicians decided to put in one of the cheapest pumps that you can put into a pool. We've decided to go ahead and put in a pump that's going to last. That's going to cost. Probably four times the amount. Very disappointed in your decision. This was the reason we used a trusted technician servicing our pool year-round. We also checked with two other companies who strongly advised to get the better pump.

    The Worst Nightmare of my Life. Unbelievable 2 Months and a week without Air Conditioning A/C. The worst and cheapest service personnel behind the phones. Assigned an A/C Contractor based in Alabama not servicing Georgia what a Stupidity. A Mgr. offered me $200 to settle the claim and if it's more, it will come out of my Pocket, only $200. Just the Disconnect Switch is $150. The New Air Handler Motor plus Labor. They think I'm Stupid or Ignorant.

    I spent more time on the phone and dealing with claims department waiting for a check that didn't cover near the cost of replacement or the damage that the technician did. You can't choose your own technicians and my experience with their technicians have been horrible. One technician cost me $210 from damage they caused and I didn't get the original issue fixed. Choice did say they would send $150 but that was over a month ago and now they are saying another month before I will receive it. I had to hire another electrician to fix the original issue and the new one. Another time my fridge went out, I didn't get anything fixed or funds toward a new one for several months. The technician went out of business after a couple months and I was provided $900 which didn't cover half the fridge replacement. They said if I canceled now that they would cancel the $150 check that was supposedly in the mail over a month ago. Look elsewhere.

    My home’s AC stopped working. I waited a week or more to have a tech assigned. Another week or so until the tech arrived. The assigned tech was professional and was able to determined the cause of the AC not working. He took photos for Choice and determined the parts needed and left us still without AC. The next day I received an email from Choice that they were unable to send a tech and would continue to look for and assign a tech to come to us to look at our AC. WHAT? We already had a tech here and were waiting for THAT tech to return with the parts and fix the AC. When I called the tech who was assigned and came to my home, he professionally and politely told that he was no longer assigned by Choice to repair or replace my AC unit. Now, another week later in the life-threatening heat wave, we are STILL without AC. At Choice’s urging, we have opted to have our own tech repair or replace the AC.

    I am hiring my own AC tech to fix or replace the AC before my wife or I end up in the ER at the hospital. After this long delay, I will have it fixed so our health is no longer in danger. Since the original tech took photos and submitted them to Choice, I will have the unit fixed or replaced. I will submit the photos and the bill to Choice for the repair or replacement of the malfunctioning AC unit covered by my whole home plan.

    I chose Choice Home Warranty last year. However, I never used it because there was no problem at my house. My contract period ended this year, and they called me and told me all sorts of things to get me to extend my contract with their company. I was deceived by their words and signed a 3-year contract. Last June, the air conditioner in my house broke down. I contacted Choice Home Warranty. They sent a technician to my home. My air conditioner outdoor unit was on the roof. But he said there was no ladder and just left.

    The second technician came. He also returned, saying there was no ladder. In the end, four technicians came to my house, but they all left, saying they didn't have a ladder. They decided to ask me directly for an air conditioner repair company and reimburse me. I found out about a company called Air-Tech, and a technician from that company came and inspected it. He sent me 4 step-by-step estimates. However, I reported this to Choice Home Warranty, but they refused to give me any quotes because my air conditioner problem was a wiring problem. And this morning, he told me to fix it myself and give him $300. I have signed with 3 Home Warranty companies so far, and Choice Home Warranty was the worst. Never sign a contract with this company. Ultimately, it is a waste of time and money.

It was 100 degrees outside! And I had to buy fans. It was unacceptable seeing that my bill is paid when it's supposed to. I do not plan to renew my contract when it expires!!     The young man who came to service my the dishwasher was on time, clean, and prepared. I'd have him come again if needed. I would suggest that the company provide him with a phone or tablet to translate for him until he is comfortable with speaking English. There are Apps that would be helpful to those nonfluent in English.     Updated on 12/28/2025: I’ve had Choice Warranty for the last 5 years. We had a few claims. 2 AC Units were replaced and one double oven. Choice honoured the warranties promptly. Not even a problem. The processes were easy. At the first claim we called an 800 number but recently they started to use the online claim process and that turned out to be very simple!! They are 5 stars. Would highly recommend them.

    The plumber was at my home. He flushed each toilet 2x and determined nothing was wrong although my toilets are running a long time and one toilet smells periodically even when there is no use. When they finally determined it wasn’t worth fixing they lowballed me on a price for a new one which I finally settled for 'cause I had no choice. Your customer service is horrendous.     Call Choice Home Warranty with a dishwasher repair being needed, received a case number. Was contacted within a day to schedule the appointment. The repairman with Alpha Appliance Repair showed up on time and was very pleasant and knowledgeable. He submitted the item for repair that needed to be replaced for approval. I was emailed the next day, 7/9/24 that the repair was approved.     This is the worst company I have ever worked with for my house. They not only do they take forever to send a technician out. The technicians they send out are incompetent. After over a month waiting for my pool pump to be fixed I decided to hire my own and pay out of pocket. They say we can hire our own technician and they will reimburse but that’s only if the technician orders the parts off of their site. The parts are poor quality and my technician refused to install junk. They give you the same song and dance. My kid missed out having a pool party for his graduation since the pump wasn’t fixed plus I didn’t have the pool for a going away party or the 4th of July. We are in a heat wave 90+ temperatures each day and for over a month no pool. They don’t care about their clients!

    I called Home Choice on 6/18 to report both ac units were not working. I finally got a contractor 6/21 and came to house 6/22. My ac unit on the main level needed to be replace. My contractor went pick up my unit on 7/3. My contractor received the wrong pickup #. I call Home Choice and was told it was the supplier’s issue and it was nothing Home Choice could do. I called back on 7/9. This agent was able to escalate this matter up to management and give them 24hrs for a reply. I’m still waiting on a reply. It’s been 3 weeks with 1 ac unit trying to cool off 3500 square foot house.

    Choice HW is only as good as the vendors/service providers they contract with for your issue. If the vendor is good, then you'll have a positive experience. However, if the contractor performs poorly, Choice HW does not offer much support...except offering you the option to restart your claim with another vendor/service provider---which leads to wasted time and another base service fee.

    They also are rigid on their ticketing process in order to generate more tickets and cost you more money. I had a plumbing issue where my water heater leaked. I raised a ticket and a plumber spent 5 minutes max to identify the issue. After waiting weeks for a replacement part, it turns out the water heater was not the issue, but rather the water pressure. Choice HW required me to open a new ticket...although the original issue still existed due to the incompetence/mis-diagnosis of the plumber.     I submitted a case to CHW for a repair of my washer and when I was never contacted, I reached out 3 days later and was then told that the first appt I could get was 5 days later. Not the best experience. Once the technician arrived, I was told that the part had to be "approved" by CHW. I then was notified 2 days later if the service tech came arrived to the appt and if they did for ME to reach out to the service tech to request that they submit the Diagnosis. I don't think that this is something I should be responsible for doing. That interaction should have been between the Service company and CHW.

    I've only been with Choice Home Warranty a little over 2 months. I put in a claim for a leaky faucet and also a cold water cut off valve. The cold water valve knob broke off, so I could not use the faucet or bathroom sink at all. Choice Home Warranty claim dept did NOT cover any of it because they stated that it was not working due to "wear and tear." I decided to cancel my policy. It took numerous phone calls to talk to anyone, and when I finally got ahold of someone, the woman was quite rude.     I have been very pleased with the repair companies that have been sent to work on my appliances and air conditioning. My one complaint is the time it takes to get service done. Between the time you submit a claim and the appearance of a service person is, at minimum, 6 days, and usually longer than that. If replacement is required, it can take as long as a month as was the case with my a/c last summer. Lots of red tape has to be addressed in the approval process taking a lot of time while you are suffering without a/c, water, or whatever the problem is.

    Put in a service call on 6/5 for my AC not working right. Choice sent out North Pole LLC to diagnose the issue. Originally was told it was overcharged. That didn’t fix it. Next tech said it was compressor. Paid uncovered costs of $500 and they installed compressor. Choice refused to give me a breakdown of uncovered costs. That did not fix the issue. Next tech came and added Freon. That made it worse. Next tech again added Freon, didn’t help. Then tech says it’s the TXV (part was replaced in August 2023).

    Choice has not updated me on part replacement. They assigned a case manager who refuses to contact me and lies about trying to make contact. I cannot get an actual person on the phone to help with the resolution of broken AC or the refund of being charged for parts that did not fix the problem. I have tried emailing and calling case manager and they just ignore me. Her information is as follows Dayana Arrigand Case Manager After being told on Monday, July 1 that the TXV was authorized and ordered Dayana finally called me on 7/5 stating that the TXV wasn’t normal wear and tear and they would not cover it. When I told her the only people that touched my system was her contractors she stated that they are not responsible for their contractors. I told her that is unacceptable and that the TXV failed due to normal wear and tear. I sent my maintenance records to prove the system has been maintained and she refused to approve the repair.

    I since hired Island Breeze who came out today and told me there is absolutely no way that TXV failed for any other reason than normal wear and tear and there is absolutely nothing I could do to cause it. The negligence of this company has cost me 7k for a whole new system. Choice is unethical and will do anything to deny claims instead of fixing it and doing what is right. They hire cheap contractors who don’t know how to fix the HVAC then blame the consumer. I have had to pay service call fees, uncovered costs, a diagnostic fee and Freon costs, and now 7k for a new system.

    They displayed no empathy or urgency about the situation even though my AC has been broken since June and I have children in the house and animals. It’s currently 90 degrees upstairs. I told them to cancel my warranty that I will not do business with a company that doesn’t take responsibility for their workers. They outright lied to me multiple times stating the part was authorized and order and they also lied about trying to contact me. It is impossible to actually speak with a person, every time you call it tells you to put your number in for a callback but they never call back. I filed with BBB as well.

    I would not recommend. Even the technicians that they send out (when they finally come out) do not recommend them. There's no accountability in ensuring that the contracted technicians show up when they say they will. If they approve your claim you will either pay a large out of pocket or they will only pay a small amount. For a washer claim, they said it didn't result from normal wear and tear and denied my claim. For my dryer, they gave me the runaround for 3 months and finally approved the claim after I contacted the BBB.

    However, they only agreed to pay $335 to replace it. It's month 4 and I'm still waiting on the funds. When my hot water heater was leaking they claimed that I had to pay in excess of $400 for "uncovered" repair expenses on top of my deductible. They are absolutely the worst home warranty company I have ever had and I have moved on to another company.

    Two months into the contract my water heater broke. A technician came out after 3 days, diagnosed it needed to be replaced. Two days later I get a quote for the replacement of $580.     I had Choice Warranty for 7 plus years, and I must say their service has declined drastically in the past year, they have a hard time finding a service provider to service your issue. I canceled service with them in April 24 and purchased a warranty agreement with 2-10 and the retention rep did not canceled my service and they charged me for this month of July 24 for $112.00. I called up and asked for a refund and the retention rep stated she was unable to do that because I was on a monthly cost. I asked her who could refund me. She stated that my agreement did not allow this.

    I informed her why would I purchased another agreement from another warranty if I all ready had choice. I told her to listen to my conversation in April, she informed me that that was too long ago, unbelievable, this multiple million dollar company could not refund me the money.     My AC leaked water and caused ceiling to collapse. Filed claim. An appointment was scheduled but technician did not show up during the scheduled hours. Called and texted technician but he did not either take the call or return the text. He did call and show up by the end of the day. He did not do any tests and barely just took a look. He collected 75 dollars and said the repair should be scheduled next day. However nothing happened the next day. Again I could never reach this technician by call or text. Called Choice Home Warranty, which just kept promising but nothing happened. Two days later they told me in email that claim was denied. I realized why the technician did not do any test on the AC unit but just collected $75 - they did not plan to fix it at all. What a waster of time and money?

    When we took the policy the sales person told us that if any appliance is broken we would get a replacement as many other appliance companies do but that was not the case. We were also told that only certified contractor from appliance company would address our issue but that was not the case either. The first contracting company kept on changing the appointment and eventually we had to cancel. Then the 2nd contracting company did the same by coming very late well beyond the assigned time. Finally instead of replacing our dishwasher we were given a paltry gift check of $256 which is not a cash but a Lowe's gift card that we will receive after 1 month. The cost of the dishwasher that we are replacing is worth nearly $1000. The case handler was just rude too.

    The resolution manager is understanding; however, I have no approval email yet to get full reimbursement for my a/c. 2 months in 3 excessive heat warnings is ridiculous and a breach of contract on Choice end of 24/48 hours. This has been a terrible experience with your company. It’s not the manager. It’s the company as a whole. I bet the CEO doesn’t face this issue when his stuff breaks. I opened my ticket before summer officially started so this should have been handled. You initially assigned a tech. They were a no show because they told choice in the beginning of the week they couldn’t keep the appt. Choice lied stating they had verified the tech that day and I wasted a day of pay from work.     Choice Home Warranty does not have license in California to issue home warranties. The warranty is through a company and I did not receive great service. My water heater went out in January 2024 and it cost me $1360. Also, the plumbing company charged me an additional 4% to use a credit/debit card. I requested a written invoice of cost breakdown and did not receive from neither Choice or the plumbing company. By law a water permit is required but neither one of them would provide me with it prior to installation. Therefore, I had to file a complaint with the Contractor State Licensing and Department of Justice against these two companies. City inspector finally approved installation in on second visit in June. Before you select Choice, read the COMPLETE contract.

    My upstairs A/C wasn't working while it was fine a day before. I filed a claim at around 8 AM on a Friday (7/5/24). At around 12 O'clock I received a call from the technician saying that he is coming in 20 min. to fix my A/c. By 2 PM my A/c is working again. This is the fastest service from CHOICE. I was very impressed. In addition I had a non-working coils in my kitchen cooking range. Initially it took a couple of months to replace the switches which was due to a bad technician.     June 10, 2024 we started experiencing failure with the freezer section of our refrigerator. The repairman came July 1, 2024 at 12:30pm, diagnosed the problem as a bad compressor and recommended it be replaced. Choice did offer a settlement three days later which I felt was about $200 too low and asked for a review. That was put off for four days until Monday July 8th. In the meantime, the refrigerator had completely failed so I had no choice but to settle for what Choice offered because you cannot speak to a live person and they state they will return your call which in 5 days they have yet to call. Attempts through emails with a Lydia **, the claims specialist assigned to my case sent an email they have up to 30 days to send the ECARD for the purchase of another refrigerator.

    When I emailed asking if the payment could be expedited as the refrigerator is completely out she responded by "I can cancel the ECARD and send a check instead." So date and time of Sunday July 7, 2024 at 9:05am NO ONE has ever returned my phone call and emails ignored stating I am completely without refrigeration and still no ECARD to purchase one. To make matters worse, insulin for a family member is having to be kept in an iced down cooler and having to purchase bags of ice every 5-6 hours to prevent losing expensive insulin. This is ridiculous!

    I am extremely happy with Choice Warranty for doing all within their control to get my AC fixed.     If I could give zero stars I would for this company. I was very disappointed when I submitted a claim for my over the range microwave and they told me that it was not covered. They made sure and send a repairman out to accessed the problem first and graciously took my service charge fee. The repairman said he had to order a part and will get back with me when the part came in. In the meantime I received a email from Choice Warranty stating that the microwave was not covered. I don't understand why its not covered when it clearly states in the contract that it is. After disputing this matter I was offered $200 towards a new microwave.     Our realtor got us a home warranty and overall we have been very satisfied with the technicians who have come out and assisted us + the CHW employees we have talked to. The same applies for the tech who came out to diagnose our broken Dishwasher and told us it needed many new parts and CHW would make an assessment on whether to replace the parts or replace the system. Eventually, CHW decided it would be better to give us funds to replace the system which was a fine outcome except the amount they were giving us in Lowe’s credit for our old system was about $125 below the market rate for the lowest end replacement available.

    We tried to explain this to CHW and provided evidence but they wouldn’t budge at all due to older models not having DBA ratings (which is how they assess credit to give) and didn’t provide a specific model they based their number off of. It was a disappointing outcome for a product that is supposed to make you feel comfortable and safe with the appliances in your newly purchased house. Again, we have had a great overall experience with CHW but this was a very disappointing outcome for a company we have enjoyed working with.

When you call this company they sell you they are the best and will repair anything and they have the best technician. This is far from the truth. Don’t fall for their lies. This is the worst warranty company. I have been trying to contact the claims department for over 2 weeks and no one has contacted me back.

    I keep leaving my number for a call back that all they have a system to leave your number for a call back and no one calls back. This is unacceptable. When I first signed up with this company, I explained my situation for leaving my previous company for these same reasons and the previous company sending unqualified technicians to diagnose my system. I was guaranteed your company will be different. As of now I am very disappointed. I had a technician misdiagnose my system and as of now it's almost two weeks and no claim or management team has returned my call back. As a customer this is the absolute worst warranty claim I have had from a company. I will have to look for another warranty company.

    As for the claim the technician you sent came to my residence and said the system probably needs to be changed. He wanted to charge me $4000 to change the condenser. I said the warranty company pays for labor. He stated this is my price on top of the warranty company paying him. I told him the evaporator inside is also having an issue. He did not go inside to look at my evaporator. He said let's change the fan on the condenser outside. I said nothing is wrong with the fan. He submitted back to the claims department that the fan has to be changed which is incorrect, now my system froze up, the evaporator lines turned to ice which he did not diagnose.

    I contacted 2 technician company that came that I paid for and they said the evaporator is leaking freon and is frozen and the condenser compressor is also defective, now I was told that this system is running r22 gas that’s leaking into my home and I have kids and a baby and I was told this gas is dangerous to inhale so I had no choice but to hire this company asap to change my system to ensure my family will be safe.

    I am inquiring for a claims manager to call me back to discuss this further to have this situation resolved for a reimbursement. I paid to have my system replaced. I have the company pictures, also their diagnostic and the receipt for changing my system. I have uploaded all these documents under proof of repair on my account.

    Finally after 10 calls to the sales department someone gave me a manager number. I explained the situation, how the technician they sent did not diagnose my system correctly which leads to harmful r22 gas leaking into my home, endangering the health of my family so I had no choice but to pay a separate license company to change my system due to the fact I have been calling over 2 weeks to get approval which no one calls back. The manager said there nothing he can do but give me a month free service. What a joke. I paid thousands of dollars and he said I give you a month free. This company does not care about the health and wellbeing of their customers and will send unqualified technicians who will try to make you pay double labor to repair or replace a unit. STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY. DON’T FALL FOR THEIR FALSE ADVERTISEMENT.

    Choice Home Warranty is unprofessional service with their poor service desk and unskilled customer handling. They have tie up with local vendors with unskilled and money minded. I have a very bad experience with one of plumbing request which is still unresolved. Choice home warranty scheduled a vendor named Steagall Operations LLC. Tech visited and asked for service fee with no work on the claim and just went way. When I put stoppage on the check due to no work carried out, vendor kept calling to my phone and threaten me to clear the payment else he will Take me to court.     Choice home Warranty sold me a policy Jan. of 2024. Read reviews, and the salesman promised fast service, great customer service, the works! I had to make a claim on June 21st of 2024. My first and only claim... nothing... I called them for 2 weeks, and repeatedly was told the claim was escalated. Mind you, this was as simple as a garage door opener...They could not find a technician in my area. They sold me a warranty with no way to honor it? The took o my money, but had no plan in place to cover. They "offered" to let me find my own technician. That would have lead to more headaches and me paying out of pocket. This company had no intentions of ever covering my claim. I demanded a refund of my payments since Jan, since I was technically not covered, but refused any reimbursement.

    I canceled the policy and would not recommend this company to anyone that NEEDS a warranty, they are no help, have no communication skills, and trying to contact them is impossible, you always have to leave a number to wait on a call back, and if you ask for a supervisor or someone to actually help, they place you back into the queue for call back. Most frustrating company to ever deal with, false advertising, and do not honor their warranty, but will gladly take your money!

    I can very factually tell everyone that Choice Home Warranty is a total FRAUD. They would charge your money and refuse to provide your entitled coverage. When I filed a claim within the coverage period, they would send a tech here and charge the service call fee. Afterwards, I received an email informing me that my claim was denied because the failure was not caused by normal wear and tear. When I appealed and called their case manager, they provided an inconsistent reason why I was denied. They would think 100 ways to deny your entitled contractual rights. I have already reported this company to the FTC. The State Attorney General's office would be next. Please do the same if you have been defrauded. I am sure there are many people who have had similar experience. Please use legal actions against this company and defend your right.

    This company does not meet minimum expectations one would have. For instance, sending a service technician who would collect the service fee first and then bail saying they're not qualified even though they picked up the claim. On top of it, the assigned service providers do not honor the appointment and they do not provide any speedy service for issues needing immediate attention. It's like trusting a company in the hot summer month only to find they won't cover cooling issues because of their service providers network, not willing to provide faster service.
