    Our home air conditioner started making noises & not cooling our home last week. I put in a request for service immediately & received a response from your company shortly thereafter that someone would be in touch with us, which they were. The problem is that where we live, the temperatures at this time of the year get into the high 90's & 100's every day. The company (Sears Appliances) set a date to see us on August the 7th, more than a week and a half after our request for service. As I am 82 & my wife 78 this really puts a burden on us with the extreme heat & no relief from the air conditioner. There is no way to reach Sears to try & get an earlier appointment, so somewhat frustrated & a very unhappy wife!

    We went online Friday to report a clogged line. Within 30 minutes we had an appointment scheduled for Monday between 3pm and 6pm.     Awful service. I signed up with Choice Home Warranty. A month ago, add a problem with My AC service. I had called To open a service claim. They never assigned a technician 10 days, and they have still not been able to find anybody to come out and service my AC unit, this is ridiculous. Do not go with this company. I canceled my contract of false advertising. Not a great company at all.

    Getting this appointment scheduled was an absolute nightmare! Going through the voice prompts just to see if my situation was covered was problematic and then I had to call a few times to actually get a live person to explain what my situation was. I needed this repair addressed ASAP and despite the lengthy time it took to get a technician out here, it was a huge fiasco with getting it expedited.     I have had great experiences for the last 8 years however this time I was penalized for not having the knowledge of a plumber. I submitted a hot water claim due to my shower water going from hot to cold only to find out that it was a plumbing issue. CHW then denied the repair because I didn’t submit it under the correct claim. I now have to resubmit, reschedule, and repay the fee to have my shower fixed.

    Service request was good. I had requested service for my standalone 5 yrs old freezer due to stop working and service tech came and told me that it need a compressor and reported to Choice Home for authorization and they gave me a cash offer of $462 which is not half what I have paid. I told claim lady that I need the exact replacement and Lowe's has it, she refused to replace it and force me to accept offer of $462 and will send the check within 30 days. Sales tell you the incorrect or wrong information to try to make a sales and when you file the claim then you will find out what is truth or false. I will not recommend choice home at all and I will report to federal authorities to look into this business closely and I will not renew my contract in future. Please make sure read your contract before signing with microscope or closely.

    I was happy that I could make a claim right away today 7/29/2024 with the phone voicemail but I hope they call me back tomorrow with a very soon date for the AC person comes to fix it. It’s too hot to be at home with AC in these days that are so hot. I hope they fix it ASAP because I suffer of asthma and the weather produce me often time bad asthma.     The very worst Home Warranty Company on the planet. I have had 3 claims with them and they do nothing but make promises they don't keep. I went over a month without a Fridge and this was after the tech said it shot, yet they took a month to send me only 1/2 in lieu (they said) for the same exact model. They do nothing but give you the runaround. Now I have 2 garage door openers that have failed and it has been over a week and a half and they have no one lined up to service them. They keep saying they are looking for someone to fix them, but, contractors do not want to work for this company. Every time, I have made a claim, it has gone like this. DO NOT BUY A POLICY FROM THEM. Just look at the ratings 1 star (and that's generous) with over 4622 ratings.

    This place is complete Trash. I filed two complaints, one in late May for AC and one on June 8th for my plumbing. It's July 29th. No follow up, terrible customer service.     When I first reported the AC outage, It was 110° in the Sacramento area. I told the rep it was an emergency as I had my grandmother staying with me. She said she would make it an emergency. When I got my first contact from an AC company he was not going to come out until four days later which was unacceptable, I found an All Air Services van parked in my neighborhood and I approached him myself who happened to be on contract with Choice Home Warranty and I let Choice know. He was a wonderful technician who tried to get my AC fixed ASAP. He explained in detail all the things that were wrong with my unit which is over 20 years old. He ended up having to replace the whole unit, but Choice only paid a portion of the claim. I am not happy with the fact that I had to pay so much out of pocket for the new unit.

    This is a 22 year old machine. AI did not recognize the Maytag brand. The live representative took all the information and was all business which is good. Email notifications were very fast and at the appointed time which was on the weekend the technician appeared. He was very skilled in assessing the problem.     It would be MUCH easier if the option to enter property address instead of policy number was there when logging in. I always have to look for my policy number at first.     I purchased my home warranty in 2020 to help cover any major problems that might arise in my 18 year old home. I had a broken dryer belt which was covered. Then a couple of weeks ago I discovered that my heat pump had quit working and requested help from your company. A service man came and sent pictures to you. My request was declined because of rust, a common thing that happens to heat pumps. It will cost me $5400.00 to replace. This is just the thing that I thought my home warranty would protect me against.

    On your home page you indicate there might be some exclusions, but what you don’t say is that there seem to be more exclusions than inclusions in my policy, Based on the exclusions, it looks like you only want to pay for less expensive repairs or replacements, not for anything major. I’m 82 years old and my wife is in a nursing home with Alzheimer’s. It costs $10,000.00 per month to give her the care she needs and now I have to come up with the money for a new heat pump. Thank you Choice, for nothing. I now believe your company is really no more than a scam.

I have to go 5 days without hot water and that’s if he can fix it that day. I called CHW and the lady told me that once they assign a contractor that it up to his availability. But their salesman told me no more than 24-48 hours to see a technician. I guess that ** as I would be going on 130 plus hours before someone can look at my unit. I just glad this isn’t the winter.

    We’ve experienced 3 events and called on CHW to support. Although only $75 spent ($225) total. There is the additional cost of time and right repair vendor. Each time was unique, from the lowest bidder needing 3 visit to fix a fan (eventually replace), to SEARS brand support needing 8 visits (sometimes no shows) accounting for full days waiting around and finding out the wrong part ordered, to one day quick fix which we appreciated.

    Each time we are at the mercy of the vendor chosen, and as stated, can come with its extra “costs”. If you are not concerned on time and money an issue, it’s a good deal. If you are concerned about time and money is not, then perhaps just replacing items or finding your only reputable repair vendor can be a choice. We have never used this service type before, and are more flexible than most. The online response is good, and a decent follow up time for problems, but most chat items are AI/automated, and don’t like that for a replacement for customer service itself. In all, fair to good program for us here.

    We have a double oven, top of the line (professional version). The upper oven has developed a crack in the liner in the rear of the oven above the bottom coil. The bottom coil can be seen thru the crack in the liner while in operation. The footprint of the coil can be plainly seen in the liner and seaming to be perfectly intact. Choice Case Manager told us that the coil is warped, contacted the liner. Not the result of normal operation, possible catastrophic event, and liner was bent causing the crack. Sounds like someone don't know what they're talking about. The crack is in a fabricated grove that guides liquids to the center for easy removal. What's abnormal about turning an oven off and on. This experience has convinced me to shop other home warranty companies and dive heavily into their reviews in which I did not do in purchasing Choice. George Foreman sold me.

    I had a terrible experience with Choice Home Warranty. In June 2023, I filed a claim for my Whirlpool jetted tub under an extra extension of the policy that covers the pump and other components. Here's the sequence of events that followed:

    The first technician scheduled to come never showed up.
    The second technician arrived but didn’t work on jetted spas.

    The third technician also couldn’t perform the work, citing it was beyond his expertise.

    The fourth technician finally diagnosed that the pump and control switch were not working. However, Choice Home Warranty refused to approve the claim, stating they didn’t cover the control switch.

    Over several months, I was shuffled between multiple case managers, each insisting they could only go by the technicians' reports and maintaining the refusal to cover the control switch, hence denying the claim.

    While this was ongoing, my refrigerator compressor broke down. I filed another claim and moved the fridge to clean up the defrosted mess it caused. After paying the $65 appointment fee, the technician confirmed the compressor was not working. However, Choice Home Warranty denied the claim because the refrigerator was reported as moved from its location. This company excels at selling its policies, but their service and customer care are horrific. They wriggle out of backing up their claims and find every excuse to deny them. I strongly recommend BUYER BEWARE. Choice Home Warranty is not a company I would recommend, even to my enemies. Avoid at all costs!

    Always a run around. Technicians they sent out for AC unit had to have two claims for the same home since I had two units. Both units the tech never even looked at the air handler in the attic. Stated all was well. Now system is down and I live in Arizona and it is Summer. They cannot get someone back out right away, but if I call as a random customer to the vendor that came out before and did not do the job we paid for they will come right out. Go figure. Getting a claim fixed is tiresome at best. We have made two claims on this warranty and both times takes weeks to get someone out and when they do they do a terrible job and nothing is actually inspected and we still pay for the claims. I am sitting here now without an AC and no technician yet and just had two separate companies here 10 days ago. I have to call a company directly and pay out of pocket.     My hot water heater was disconnected by the technician on 19 Jul due to a leak. I've been taking cold showers while this claim process drags on. I would like to think that Choice has empathy with customers when a covered quality-of-life item needs repair/replacement and that the process would be expedited over non-quality-of-life items.

    My experience so far has been that what could take place in a matter of one or two days if people were on top of things has now taken six days and I still don't have a hot water heater. From the beginning, I expressed my interest in upgrading and acknowledged that I would be responsible for the cost difference, yet Choice has continued to process the claim for a similar replacement. Now, I'm told to wait an additional 24 hrs for a case manager to be assigned. This process has been made a lot more difficult than it really needs to be and is unacceptable. It's 112 degrees in Yuma, AZ. If my AC went out, would it take 6 plus days to get fixed? I hope I don't have to find out.

    I filed a claim for my stove several months back. Communication was vague or non existent. I received parts delivered to my house. Then was told to accept an amount smaller than the ordered part to put towards a new stove. I called and asked if I could at least get a match on the parts that I had thought were already paid for. Several calls, no clear answer over 30 days without a functional stove. FINALLY got through to someone who explained there was a limit on the parts and those were ordered by the technician not the CHW team. However, during a call where I was asking questions the customer service rep threatened me with a lien on my home if I didn't return the part.

He came yesterday and I had to replace three or four breakers. This is on a dishwasher or a burner, not working on the stove. This is the electrical system which can be a fire hazard when it’s faulty and the lack of prioritizing a problem like that is very concerning. I called numerous times and when you get somebody in the Philippines or someplace else, they just follow a script. They have no ability seemingly to escalate it or they’re scared to escalate it and most of the time they put you on hold and then miraculously the call gets cut off .

    When I’ve been able to talk to people in they’ve been much more able to actually react and try to get something done. This is the second claim I’ve had with Choice, we have three policies that we bought this spring for three different properties, the first claim was for microwave repair. Again they couldn’t find anybody, they asked if I could find somebody. I did. I followed their procedures. The person charged whatever he charges here locally but then Choice tells me, "Well that’s more than we would pay." Don’t ask me to find somebody because you’re incapable of doing it if you’re not gonna pay the going local rate and to top that off, I’ve never received the check for the reimbursement for that work, even at a discounted rate.

    My claim began on Jul 11th, I had a scheduled appt on the 13th. From 8am-12pm no one showed up. I call several times no one could get the info on why the tech didn’t show up. After that, I was rescheduled on the 17th, that was cancelled by you guys, rescheduled to the 18th, no one showed up again. You guys rescheduled me again for the 22nd from 1pm-5pm. Approx 10am on the 22nd, I received a call stating that appt was cancelled. I called back several times to speak with a claims specialist, which was difficult to contact, and finally at approx 12pm I received a call from a tech asking if I would be available between 2pm-3:30p on the 22nd.

    When dealing with cancellation, there was a miscommunication. I had already paid the full month and the year renewal was coming up the next month. Explained do not want to "renew". They offered two months free to stay and I said no, as of the following month, I do not want to renew. Then sadly had a home emergency. Called to make a claim as I was still covered after my payment that month, but no, they had cancelled as of that day, even though I made a payment and was covered through that month. Would not listen that that was not my intention as I had paid through that year and didn't want to "renew" the following month for another year. Per my contract, it was a certain amount each month for that year. But no one would listen because that agent had cancelled that day instead of the following month when it was due.

    Reimbursement as of yet has not been received. Was told sorry, too bad, obviously not happy with my cancellation with the first agent, which was very abrupt on that call. No resolution was reached or even tried at that point. Very disappointed and definitely not a "resolution" center as there was no two-way conversation. Just no, that's when that agent cancelled it. Can't do anything. But again, no reimbursement, either.

    They are scammers. I had made 3 claims in 2 years and they could not cover any of my claims. In two of the claims, they couldn’t even find a tech for me to come to my place. When my hot water heater stopped working in the middle of New English winters, they could not find a tech. When I insisted that I have small kids in the house and in desperate need for hot water, they still couldn’t expedite the process. I ultimately gave up after waiting a week and went ahead a bought a new heater out of pocket. They denied reimbursement as well because I did not go through their steps.

    My microwave stopped working and their own tech called me and unofficially suggested I have a better deal buying directly from Samsung. I would have spent more out of pocket going through CHW by paying the service call, installation cost and haul away of old microwave. My last straw was when they denied my claim for broken faucet due to rust and corrosion of the faucet/ pipe threads. They cover wear and tear only. Even if the cause is wear and tear, but since it “broke” they will not cover. That was it! I cancelled them. I had paid in full for 7 years of coverage. Never again! Scammers!

    If I could give this company a minus number I would. From the salesman lying to me by saying Choice has their own repair people so they never answer a repair call more than 24 hrs after call placed. My call was for a broken washer and it took 4 days for the initial repairman to come. The repairman no showed after being told someone would be here between 7am-6pm… Then the text message showed Michelle A was on the way and would be here by 845pm. Needless to say Michelle A never came.

    When I called Choice the next day they stated they could rebook but it would be another 48 hrs or more. When he arrived he stated he could not repair our washer and that a report would show it was due to wear and tear. Choice sent an email later that day denying the repair/replacement due to negligence. They stated the washer was broken due to overloading. We appealed the claim and their Customer Advocate (15 min call) basically restated the denial and that it would not be fixed or replaced. **DO NOT** use this service. They are horrible. Look at BBB. Tons of similar reviews. They are a SCAM and they scammed a disabled senior citizen! Shame on you Choice!!!!

    Absolutely the worst customer service I have ever received. A technician came to my house for my aerobic septic pump. He took the non working pump with him. He said the company would probably want to fix it. After multiple attempts to figure out what they would do I finally learned that it was going to need to be replaced. My cost would be 478 dollars. REALLY the damn thing only costs 300. I told them I would get it fixed myself and to cancel the call. It has been since July 2nd and I still cannot get my pump back. I want my property back!!!! I have pages of texts and messages from technician and Choice Warranty that it is being discussed with technician. It's my property that he took off my property with intent to fix. Can't fix it so I want it back.

    I called to have my microwave repaired. However Choice denied it was better it be replaced. However, they did not cover to the total cost to purchase a new microwave. Even after I called I found a replacement microwave sale and would cost a little more that they were going give me. The funds they gave me to replace the microwave was not enough to buy any microwave. Additional, because it was an over the counter microwave I had to pay the installation of the microwave. The over the counter micro is covered, so it is very surprising that the installation is not covered. Also when setting up an appointment to have contractor come look at appliance I did not a telephone call, even after I requested a phone call and I was told someone would call.

    I had American Home Shield for over 14 years. Their premium kept going up and up and service calls, although they were prompt, could never really fix the problem with my units. One is 6 years old and one is 16 years old. They did replace a lot of parts on the units, but the older unit, they just kept putting band aids on them. So I switched to Choice as it was #2 on the Forbes list for Home Warranty companies.

    My first call to Choice was a terrible experience. The contractor never showed..twice. And when he did, he didn’t even try to really fix the unit. Just said, "I can’t fix it. I’ll put it in for review with Choice." At least AHS technicians tried to fix and replace if needed. Choice denied my claim because it was a pre-existing problem. In order for them to replace anything major, it needs to be replaced with a new unit. That is what the customer service rep said today. So… does that mean that I can’t ever get anything replaced on the unit because it’s pre-existing?

    They never mentioned anything to me when they signed me up. Most old homes have used appliances that’s why we get home warranties. This pre/existing excuse is just that… an excuse. Yes, my unit in question is old and probably needs to be replaced. So why aren’t they giving me the $$ to replace it since According to their technician, it can’t be fixed. I also have a maintenance contract with a local company. They come to inspect and maintain twice a year. They said my unit in question is old but it’s a good unit and still works so why replace it unless you have to.. I’m thinking of canceling already and trying someone new. I’m disgusted already.

    Choice Home Warranty does not fulfill their contracts. I've had two major repairs I've had to pay for. They say they cover water heater replacement, but they don't cover the tank. Meaning they do not cover water heater replacement. I had an electric issue and the person they sent wouldn't got into the attic to check the problem unless I gave him $500. I reported him, and hired my own electrician. The most recent repair was my wash machine. They didn't fix it correctly, the spin cycle hasn't worked correctly since. I called for another fix, and they make me pay upfront today, and the repair isn't scheduled to come for another week. You cannot call anyone there at all. They make you leave your number and they say they will call back, they don't call back. They are the very worst home warranty place in the world, please avoid.

    There were 3 service calls placed and neither problem has been fixed. The first one was plumbing. I have a leak outside of my home as well as one outside the technicians never came back. My water bill is going up daily. The other was my stove stop cracked and the bottom drawer does not open. I was told by the Tech that he would fix the oven when he comes to fix the stove top. Well the stove top is not covered and no one came to fix the warming drawer. Lastly the light switch in my bathroom is not working, I had an appointment from 7-3, then it was changed to 11-5 then it was reschedule for Tuesday when I am at work. This is a scam.

    Horrible co to deal with. My water heater needed replaced & I had to pay $350 out of pocket. Well a new unit is about $500 so saved nothing if you add my monthly fee for 2 years to that. Also I needed my refrigerator fixed. The service guy came ordered part and never came back. I never could get service again on my refrigerator. The customer service rep transferred me to a supervisor who kept lying about who they were told me I was making up my story about how the guy who replaced my hot water heater that he tried to bill me $450 after he installed it!     When the washing machine went out, I put in a ticket to get it fix with Choice. The two guys who came to fix it were very nice and did a great job. They repaired the machine and checked it out to make sure everything was working correctly. I have to say I was a little skeptical because it was the first time I used this insurance company. But it worked just like it was supposed to. It only cost $75. The only bad comment I would have it takes too long to have to wait until someone can come out. We were without a washing machine for about a week and a half. Oher than that everything went like it was supposed to. I just hope if our furnace or air-conditioner goes out we don't have to go without heat and air. I hope they can work on getting the repair people out sooner next time.

    Our pool pump went out suddenly and unexpectedly during its normal overnight running. It kicked the breaker and after resetting the breaker it would kick back off instantly if trying to energize the pool pump. I put in a claim and Choice quickly set up a pool company to come out. They confirmed that the pump went bad internally and got approval to replace the motor. After the motor was replaced pool pump ran smooth and quiet without kicking the breaker. I was not happy that they did not approve paying ($52) for a pool pump seal kit that fits to the motor. It is really logical to replace the kit while the motor is removed from the pump motor.
