    Technician was great. Service by Choice Home Warranty was of no use. We are still without being able to have outlets and overhead lighting has no power. We have outlets that have been burned and melted, and we still have no idea as to why. Your policy is worthless and we will not give a good recommendation to anyone. So, at this point we could very likely have an electrical fire. We have nothing to show what our coverage is as we were NEVER given any paperwork. Yes, I am beyond livid.

    After receiving an inconvenient appointment from Blum Management Inc. for: Sunday 8/25/24, 7:00am to 11:00am, the technician never arrived! There was no phone call ever made to me saying they had to cancel or that they were being delayed or to apologize. I accepted the appointment because I appreciated the rapid response in order get our dishwasher up and running again. I think they should change their name to Blum Mismanagement Inc.     I received the letter of determination on this claim. You conclude that my problem is due to no maintenance. I always, every year keep maintenance to every appliance in my house. Unfortunately, not all the technicians are reliable, and because I can't climb up to the attic to check on the service, and even if I could do that, I don't understand this subject. What I am not happy about is that the technician who came to do the inspection saw that there was a leak in the outside unit, it has to be fixed, therefore I think you should have that repaired.

    The company's motto is your item is covered regardless of age. My pool pump went out, got an email telling me they had denied my claim due to pump too old.     Needed my water heater replaced after your technician said that it was not repairable then I get a quote for almost $600 out of pocket to replace the unit when I can get that unit without warranty for just a few more dollars installed totally unfair. Why do I have a warranty if I have to lay out so much money to replace something and now it is taking over a week for me to speak to somebody at Choice Warranty to get this matter to settled.     We had this for some time and we had a sewer plug. Tried to use this. First of all there wasn't a person here in our area then they said we could get our own and she was great but then we ran into a bind. There was a clause in the program that caused a big problem. We went without water for a month and had no toilet, had to go to the bathroom in buckets and they just kept saying, "We couldn't fix it." We finally had to just pay the plumber and drop our coverage. Very bad experience with this company. They would not compensate us for our coverage. NOT HAPPY. We paid $900.00 out of pocket.     My experiences with Choice when I have HVAC issues have not been great. The vendors you use in our area were not professional, did not appear to be qualified and were very difficult to work with. When one of my units stopped cooling, I placed a claim and frankly dreaded dealing with the vendor. I was pleased when a 'new' company picked up the claim. Phoenix Electrical and HVAC was excellent.     I engaged with Choice Home Warranty four months ago, I submitted my first claim for my garage door opener on the 14th of August 2024. I initially submitted the claim through customer service and was informed that they would locate a technician for the job. Shortly thereafter they informed me I could use my own vendor and get a reimbursement, but the vendor would have to submit a diagnosis of the problem and a quote for work before they could approve the project. My vendor never contacted CHW with the required info so I located another vendor and had them do the work. When I tried to submit the receipt for the project to CHW they assigned a "Case Manager" to me whose sole purpose was to inform me that they denied my claim because I used a company that was not approved by CHW.

    It's obvious to me that their business model is to maximize the number of customers with inflated or fake reviews and the use of sales people to contact potential customers and convince them to use the service. The "Case Manager" was even able to cancel my policy and when I reengaged with her to appeal her decision she informed me that I was no longer a customer and could not appeal. Choice Home Warranty is a total scam. Buyers beware.

    They will not fix my washer. They say because I use it so much that's misuse. The washer was checked out 6 months ago with nothing wrong, but this tech says differently. Says I over loaded and caused the agitator not to work. Also says other things were wrong with it that I don't agree with. I feel they can declare anything for any reason to be not covered.     I submitted a claim for AC repair because my AC was leaking in my kitchen above my stove. Submitted claim on 6/3/24 for tech never turn in claim and the next technician didn’t know why it was leaking so he stated that the filter was not in right so that work for a few weeks then on 8/9/24 with the same issue. CHW sent out Sears and the guys stated that my coil line was cracked. That couldn’t be repaired. CHW denied that stating it was due, "Your policy has the following exclusion, this agreement does not cover routine maintenance or malfunction due to misuse, abuse, neglect, or physical damage. This agreement only covers failures due to normal wear and tear." Remind you that this is a 25 year old unit. The crack was due to wear and tear. Then I had an appeal. It was cancelled and case manager Andrea stated, "Oh we stand on our denial because you filed a BBB claim." Wow, that is my right when you're not being practical with the claim.

    A total comedy of errors, poor service, poor response, Sad to say that as bad as my service has been, it actually got WORSE. It is impossible to get an intelligent answer from anyone in their customer service group. Am I disappointed in Choice Home Warranty? Oh yes, tremendously so, and I will pass that disappointment on to as many friends and relatives, and even strangers as I can.

    I filed my claim over 17 days ago and I am STILL without A/C, in the middle of a heat wave...a 73 year old man with heart failure barely able to breathe in this heat. I have nothing good to say about the service I received from their case manager. Dedicated???? LOL, dedicated to poor service maybe, I truly think their goal is that I will die before they have to fulfill their obligation and it will save them paying off the claim. Filed my claim Aug 4, still waiting as of today August 23 with no answers in sight from them except that I had to pay another $596 (which I did) to get the equipment I still haven't received! Assuming I do get it in my lifetime, I will then have to pay the technicians labor fee of $3300! It's a sad business they are running. Stay away from these guys! Run, dont walk, away! There is nothing 'choice' about Choice Home Warranty!

    The water heater for the pool and spa broke down. The heater wouldn't turn on. I placed a claim request about 4 weeks ago. The technician came out and advised that one the board and the membrane needs to be changed. Choice Home Warranty advised that the membrane would be considered an upgrade and it wouldn't be covered. I am not clear why would this be considered upgrade but anyways came back and installed the board. The water heater was able to turn on but the heating element was not turning on. The technician advised that the gas valve needs to be replaced.

    Choice Home Warranty's response was that it is not covered. I reviewed my policy over and over again and the gas valve was NOT anywhere in the exclusion section of the Pool And/Or SPA Equipment. Talking with a dedicated case manager was not useful. Their explanation of why it is not covered was random. I would stay away from their protection plans because there isn't transparency in what is covered and what is not.

    A contractor came out because our HVAC unit wasn’t cooling properly. He told me that there was a leak and it needed more refrigerant. Very condescending and made me feel stupid. Fast forward a few months later. Problems continue with the AC. We didn’t renew our home warranty and instead hired an HVAC repairman recommended by a friend. He says that there is no leak and the unit is severely overcharged (i.e. way too much refrigerant.). Because getting rid of Freon is super regulated, this was extremely expensive. Thanks for nothing, Choice Home Warranty! Stop calling me to renew.

    We have been a Choice Home Warranty customer for 6 months, our experience thus far is a bit akin to having a root canal without any pain med - in short a train wreck going backwards. The company's reputation with repair techs is embarrassing, all say working CHW is extremely painful and one of the worst they have. Our own experience has been awful, their service reps (assuming you can get ahold of one) is without doubt one that has no low bar, the reps are without ethics, hostile and most certainly hating their jobs (or so it seems). I would highly recommend any other company for your $$ and stay as far away from this group as humanly possible.

    Choice Home warranty looks for every possible way to not repair anything whatever goes wrong with your home. They are cheats and they don’t care. I paid for year in advance. After 9 months, my HVAC unit broke. They couldn’t find someone willing to work for them. They asked me to find a repairman. They insisted he take pictures of bubbles. He opened an enclosed system removing the sheet metal. Inside he found the line that carries the coolant needed to be replaced. They said they don’t cover that item and it voids the warranty. It is an integral part of the HVAC system. How could they say they Warranty the HVAC and yet not warranty the parts that make up the HVAC? I reported them to New Jersey Attorney General’s office.     Choice scheduled a simple faucet repair service with their own selected vendor and the vendor was not aware of the Choice scheduled appointment, twice, where I had to call the vendor to remind them of the appointment. The vendor did not show up for the scheduled appointment. The Choice was not coordinating properly, instead, relaying the vendor's message w/o remedying the situation, except kept telling me that "I HAVE TO BE PATIENT." I could simply run into the Home Depot, and pay $35 to replace this part myself instead of paying $75 service fees to the vendor originally. The vendor stated the parts are on order, it's been almost two weeks since he identified the issue. I switched this Home Warranty from AHS to Choice a month ago, and I am very regretful.

    By the time they had someone come out, I had gotten 3 quotes and had picked one. The whole unit was removed and a new one was being installed. The gentleman that they sent told me after he looked it, it would still be another 24-48 hours before Choice would make a decision. Of course he could not look at it as it was removed already. Choice doesn’t cover anything that you have done by another company. Which is stated in the contract. I must say at the time I really didn’t care, I just wanted A/C. The HVAC was 25 years old.     I had purchased Choice Home Warranty to get a peace of mind since I had bought a new house. I filed my first claim about one of my mini-split AC systems not working properly. For 2 months, no technician showed up to service the AC even after multiple calls. I had to then file another claim. After the second claim, one technician finally showed up after another 15 days. When he submitted the report, Choice Home Warranty said they would not service the claim since it was not covered. I went through all this pain and frustration for more than 2.5 months to be told in the end that the claim can not be serviced. Had they told me 2.5 months earlier, I could have switched to a more professional and trustworthy home warranty company. I will never ever recommend this home warranty company not even to my enemies.     STAY AWAY FROM THIS WARRANTY COMPANY!! I have lodged 2 complaints with the BBB and still nothing has been resolved. Short story, on March 6, 2024, a burner on my stove was not working, called Choice and had a tech out for service, a part was no longer available. Called, called and called, they gave me the runaround (didn't receive this that, can't speak with anyone else but the person that answered the phone, etc.), every excuse in the book.

    It is now August 21, 2024 and still no resolution. I called again just now and told them to cancel my contract and they put a "supervisor" on the phone (spoken to them in past and did nothing), she continued to tell me that if I cancel the contract then they won't be able to assist me in finalizing this issue.. My response was this "we haven't had a stove since March 6, 2024 and it is now August 21, 2024, what would you do if you haven't been able to cook for your family in 5 months?" No response except I'm sorry. The issue was they needed to replace the stove because the parts were no longer being manufactured and they didn't want to pay out the cost of the stove. HORRIBLE COMPANY!!

    Having just purchased the $1000 "Ultimate" package to ensure I was covered for failing systems. One of their "fully covered" systems - HVAC, stopped working on Aug 1st. I called CHW and they assigned a technician that came out in 3 days - not too bad but the 100+ degree heat did make our home unbearable. The HVAC technician determined that the problem was the compressor and indicated that they could not repair it and had to contact CHW for more information. They did make me pay for the $75 service fee despite not fixing anything. Several days later after talking to CHW and the HVAC place, they decided they needed to come out and take some pictures of the AC system. One week goes by and CHW sent an email that the compressor had $500 in "non-covered costs" despite my HVAC system listed as a fully covered system with their best warranty plan they offered.

    After several calls and emails back and forth, it was clear that my only option was to accept the $500 fee and get the "covered" HVAC system repaired. CHW indicated that they had to order the part because apparently there is no compressor for an AC system in the entire SLC area. Day after day I waited to hear anything and finally CHW said that the part was in on Aug 13th and ready for pick up. After speaking to the HVAC company the part was delivered over 2 hours away and the warehouse only sent trucks to SLC every week.

    On August 19th, CHW stated that it was being delivered to the HVAC company and again, the HVAC company had no idea where the part was located and the warehouse was not returning calls to them. After a week of calls to CHW, they continued to say the part was ready for pickup but no one knew where to pick it up and the warehouse was not returning calls to the HVAC vendor. Three weeks later in 100+ degree heat, 3 weeks of getting the runaround, $500 non-covered fees, and still no AC. Avoid this company like the plague!!

    Choice Home Warranty (address Home Service Club of California, Inc, in San Diego) has no customer service unless you count the recorded message voice. If you try to cancel your warranty you are directed to leave your phone number to save your place in the cue. I’ve done this 4 times in the last 48 hours and no one has returned my calls. I’ve tried calling other departments who have live people answer, but they won’t even listen and either transfer your call to Customer Service or actually hang-up on you! I’ve NEVER been with any company that refuses to allow you to cancel their services. Why isn’t that illegal?!

    I first purchased a home warranty through Choice when I purchased my home 7 years ago. Since then, I have had 4 claims. When I filed my first claim 2 years after purchasing, the response was quick and well done. Since then, my contract converted from an annual to a 6 year contract without notice, the cost rose to $87/month, and the service fee increased by $10. Now, my oven control panel has failed and Choice has offered me a whopping $329 to replace a GE Profile wall convection oven. New, these ovens retail for $2,500. I read multiple similar experiences online, and had hoped for the best. Now I have to wait while a claims manager is assigned, call them, and hope that they actually adhere to the terms of their contract, without me having to hire an attorney and take them to court. From my experience, stay clear of Choice and spend your money elsewhere. They are a horrible company.

    When I first purchased my house, I had a friend who told me about Choice Warranty so that was the business I chose. I like the ease of making the appointment -- calling in, telling them what's wrong, and then setting it up for the contractor to come out to do the work.     The worst company I have ever dealt with. They denied my claim stating that a “cracked pan” doesn’t qualify as normal wear and tear. My AC unit is 26 years old and has numerous problems but based on some paper pusher who didn’t even look at the system the claim was denied. I filed an appeal and was invited to speak with my “case manager” who confirmed she didn’t even read my appeal or the additional information provided. The technician was very good and he even submitted extra info but alas the paper pushers make the decision. The irony when their own technician says this system needs replaced and they still deny it.     CHW denied my claim because of an incorrect interpretation of the verbiage “physical damage” in their contract. The contract stated that all failures resulting from normal wear and tear will be covered. However, the door hinge breaking on a washing machine door does NOT constitute normal wear and tear. The case manager explained that any damage that can be physically seen constitutes physical damage and not wear and tear. This interpretation goes against common knowledge of material science and is an obvious bad-faith attempt to avoid making payment. Needless to say, I will not be renewing my contract with CHW.

    I request service online and it was confusing the last time that I tried to do it because it said plumbing and I wrote the wrong thing, so they sent the wrong guy. It wasn't very clear to me how to select the service that I needed. I selected general plumbing and it was supposed to be blockage and I didn't realize that. Also, occasionally, it takes a long time for somebody to respond. I don't know if that's just because we're in Missouri and Kansas City and Choice doesn't have a lot of providers or if there's a lot of work going on but it can take up to a week. That has happened to me twice. Choice always offers the option for me to go find a contractor but I don't want that. I want that to be somebody that they tell me because I don't know that much about that area. Other than that, Choice is reliable and honest and the contractors have all been great. We've done some work on the electrical, plumbing, and garage openers and they were great. The other thing that I really liked is I could renew the policy for two or three years for a lower rate. That's a good incentive.

    When I had a service call for my AC, it was easy to request and Choice sent out a really good tech. It was the first time, and it was done in 10 minutes. The capacitor on my AC died, and the tech had one on the truck. He fixed it, and we were back online, so that was good. It was the first thing in the morning, and he was here on a weekend. I would recommend Choice, and I've already done it to somebody else.

    One of my employees had Choice, and it's the third company I've used in 10 years for my house. I liked that when I told Choice one of my employees recommended them, they gave him one month off his bill, which is good. Because some companies will say, “Recommend us and we'll give you $10 for each person.” They're really not paying for a good recommendation, whereas at least, with Choice, my employee said, “Hey, they skipped the bill on me and they said it was from recommending.” I said. “Oh, yeah. I gave them your address.” That was nice. Companies shouldn't have to pay for it, but if companies want a good by word-of-mouth, it's a good incentive.

As far as submitting a claim, you go through a lot of prompts saying that the best way to get service is through the recording, but you can also wait on the phone and somebody will come. So, I need to wait on the line. The claims process is easy. I just like talking to people instead of going through a computer. The technicians are really wonderful when they come out.

    I thought my hot water heater went out a few weeks ago, and I called Choice to come out to see if I need a new water heater. Then I called my water company and then they came out and said that I had a faulty water meter. I'm used to paying $27 for my water bill and it went up to $419. So, the water company fixed it. What I did was I went online and I canceled Choice to come out. Overall, Choice would be one of the best services that you could get in contact with because they are prompt, they will text you when they're on their way, they explain to you what's going on, they even show you the part of what's going on, and then they'd go ahead and handle the problem.

    I called and talked to salesperson Ken this morning to inquire about home warranty service. I intended on calling a couple other companies before signing up, but Ken told me about the 30 days to cancel, and so I signed up. I had a policy with American Home Shield in the past at a different residence, and I wanted to check them out as well. Overall, I liked the coverage that Choice provided, however, I was able to negotiate a little better coverage with AHS on their platinum plan that had better coverage on systems than Choice. Choice is $3000 per year, per system, and for HVAC it’s $5000 and appliances it's $4000 with AHS. Although the service fee is $40 more with AHS, I decided that for me this was a better choice.

    I called Choice back to cancel, and was routed to the same sales person (Ken) who I told I was going with another company. He asked if I read all the T&Cs and my contract with AHS. He asked if I had read their contract yet, and that in his opinion before I cancelled with Choice I should read and compare both policies/contracts. I said that I had not read AHS and that I signed up for Choice before I got the official contract from Choice as well (I have read it after the call with Ken), and Ken did not want to cancel. He said that he thought it was fair for me to read and compare both contracts and then if I wanted to call back to cancel, I could do that. I told him it was not his decision. He reiterated over and over agin that he thought it was fair that I compare the contracts first, and then cancel if I wanted to, “I think this is fair, don’t you?”. There is some logic to his thought process, but it was not his decision.

    He blatantly ignored my request to cancel, and flatly did not do it. He did not cancel my policy, and told me to call back after I read the contract, and then he hung up on me. Very poor customer service IMO. Choice is a good company, and I think great coverage, but AHS platinum package offers a little more. If I want to cancel, I should be able to do this, for whatever reason and not have to continually argue w the salesperson why I should or should not cancel, or if I had the right justification, or done all due diligence. Or what’s fair, it’s not his decision, it’s mine. This actually has nothing to do with fairness, fairness as a principle is totally different.

    Anyway, I don’t want this to stain my opinion of Choice, perhaps at some point in the future my needs will change and I’ll consider them again, but I don’t appreciate pushy salespeople. It’s poor customer service, and turns me off. I’ll pay more to go somewhere else where I get treated better, and people do what I ask them to do for me.

    My air conditioner began randomly shutting off, then would run for a few minutes then shut back off. The friendly tech that came was very professional and diagnosed the problem quickly. The communication wire and thermostat wire are broken and new wire needs to be run. My claim was denied because I was told this is not a failure that occurs under normal wear and tear conditions. That somehow I misused, abused, neglected, or caused physical damage to such wires. These wires run from the thermostat, directly through the wall and connect I assume to the furnace fan and to the outside unit. I don’t know where, nor have I ever even seen these wires, much less set out to destroy them.

    If being nearly 20 years old isn’t normal wear and tear, then I feel your company will find a way to not cover any appliance in my home for one reason or another. The enclosed photos are of the only exposed portion of wire from the thermostat to the furnace, and is not broken. It is literally just less than 2 ft. from thermostat to furnace, and less than 15 ft. from furnace to ac outside. Not a lot of wire. I am filing an appeal.

    Choice Home Warranty is horrible. I'd tell others to stay where they are. We were with American Home Shield and we were having problems. Choice had the existing thing that crossed over the TV, so I called them. We told them what was going on with American Home Shield. They said, "No, we'll take care of all that." So we went there and filled the paperwork out. We did what we were supposed to do. We waited almost two months before our AC could get fixed. They said, "Don't worry about it." The contractors were cool. They were right on point and willing to fix the issue.

    The tech who was sent out said, "Oh, no, this is an existing problem." I said, "We could have told you all that before you came out here." We told them that something was wrong with the AC. We pay $125 a month for a service. We pay for everything. So if something happens, they'll fix it, but everything that was wrong with ours, they didn't fix. They said they'd be able to fix it when I talked to the representative. I wish they could pull this call back. He specifically said yes and we found out they don't fix anything.

We switched from Fidelity to Choice because of the 4.8 stars (which I think are fake) and now we are currently sitting in our home with a backed up toilet and shower with a baby. They are telling us they can’t get us an appointment until a week later even though we told them it’s an emergency cause we have a baby in the home. They don’t allow you to actually speak to a person. They make you leave your phone number and then they call you back. Sometimes they do and it’s a person from overseas who will hang up on you. It’s frustrating and a run around. We are currently disputing our charges from January and canceling this policy. Please please don’t go with this company. Go with Fidelity…. We’re changing back.
