    I am still waiting for the AC fix. CHW technician came today and identified the problem. He thinks AC needs accumulator needs to be replaced. Please give permission to replace the accumulator and restore AC. We are senior citizens, and we expect immediate restoration of AC to keep our health without getting sick.     Overall, it's an easy-to-use interface with the website to start a new claim. People have been responsive when needed. The trouble comes when a service provider can't be found. My AC is out and it will be about 5 days before a tech even comes to assess the situation. In the meantime we've had to buy single room units for two bedrooms to keep the upstairs habitable. Perhaps a quicker response on items like this since it's kind of an emergency in Texas during the summer to have AC.

    Absolute scam of a business, as you already know. Our policy was purchased by our real estate agent for us. We had two claims over the term of our policy, one for the home's water pressure regulator, which was immediately denied as not being part of the plumbing system somehow. The second for a garage door opener motor that went out. They dispatched garage door techs who we paid $75 to, and didn't even look at the motor, but saw we only had one spring on our door (which has all been operational since it was installed in 2005), and immediately wrote up the diagnosis as wear and tear on the motor/springs/cables. They stated they wanted to replace the cables, add a spring and a new motor.

    Choice immediately denied the claim within 5 minutes saying that overuse lead to the motor failing (after 20 years?) I appealed stating the replacement of JUST the motor, or comp value payment would suffice, which they took a week to respond to by simply restating what the technician texted them. Seriously, just put the money you would have put into a home warranty into a savings account. You *will* be disappointed if you think a home warranty company will be there for you. I didn't even pay for my policy, and went into each claim expecting to be disappointed, and I was still upset over every interaction I had with them.

    Just got off a 20 minute call with the "Resolutions Manager" where I repeatedly requested cancelation of my policy due to my submitting a claim for plumbing service on Wednesday, 8/28/24 where they set an appointment for Saturday, 8/31/24 between 3:00 pm and 8:00 pm. I reached out to the selected vendor to determine if I could get an earlier appointment, to no avail. Due to this unreasonable timeframe for service, I secured the service of a different plumber at cost. I requested reimbursement of out-of-pocket costs from Choice who rejected the request due their policy of not reimbursing "unauthorized" work.

    My family was expected to be without use of our facilities for days or chase the home warranty down for pre-approval to use another vendor while we pay the home warranty and the "unauthorized" plumber. The home warranty proved itself useless and the "Resolutions Manager" proved to be slightly useful in that my policy eventually was CANCELED after SEVERAL "again Ma'ams" and useless offers including her stating that I "called to talk" when all I wanted was either you're going to reimburse or quickly cancel the policy. Instead my blood pressure was raised due the "manager's" unwillingness to simply cancel the policy in consideration of the fact that I was resolute in my decision to CANCEL Save yourself some aggravation, time, and money by securing whatever services you need, on your own. It cost me more by using this company than it did going direct.

    The outside air-conditioning unit would come on and then shut off right away. It was coming on and off on and off the technician arrived and had immediately determined that it must’ve been a capacitor in the unit powered down the system change the capacitor and the unit started up approximately five minutes after the technician left the unit shut off again. I immediately called the company back and there was no answer and I left a message on the machine. Nobody returned the call, made two additional calls that day and left messages. This was on a Friday for a four-day weekend. Had to get additional help to get the air conditioner running correctly, it was not the capacitor at all. It’s been four days now and the service company has still not returned the call. The unit is working correctly now.

    I am writing this review so people don't go through what I have. I went to Choice home warranty and when asked to come out for a clogged drain. The tech did not run a snake more then a few feet and said he couldn't unclog it and recommended a jet let cleaning. I went bought a good snake and cleared it in a few minutes. A few weeks later I had an AC issue and once put in a work order and when the tech came out he found the expansion valve was bad. He said that he would turn in the quote and let me know in a day or 2 but also told me they were not gonna pay cause there was rust on the valve. Well of course it's 19 years old. They denied the claim saying the system was contaminated and refused to pay.

    After doing some digging online about choice home warranty found out that this is not the first time they have had legal issues for deliberately tossing out claims. You don't want to throw your money away on a company that refuses to help you in need but will jump on you for making a late payment. Don't do it. They will take you and your money.

    Not happy at all with the quality of service or coverage. Even trying to escalate the call to a case manager to review was pointless & the representative was very rude. Literally stated he understood my frustration however nothing I could even say would make any difference, so it was pointless. Water heater started leaking & flooded 3 areas of my home. Expected the process to be normal coverage for a replacement, but now I’m having to pay more than $500 for a replacement so it seems completely useless to even be paying for a home warranty.     Screen your company before choosing them. This is the second time I have been lied to from the techs that came out.     I called Choice about the air conditioning and they couldn't find anyone. They said I could choose someone. So, I did and they came out. But then Choice said I chose them and didn't tell them and that they weren't gonna pay for it. It was okay because they didn't charge us because they had been here before and it was just some easy fix. So, they fixed it and left. When I called Choice and canceled the claim, I told them that they didn't have to worry about it because it was already taken care of. But they said they weren't gonna pay it anyway because the servicemen were supposed to call them and do all this stuff and stuff they didn't tell me I had to do.

    When I had a claim for my hot water heater, it was under warranty and they couldn't find anyone. It was almost a week without hot water and I got no call. So, my boyfriend came over and fixed it for me. So far, I haven't had good experience with Choice. It's been pretty difficult to get in contact with a person. Most contractors don't work with Choice. So you might as well do the repair yourself because Choice is not going to help you.

    Choice needs to be direct with the consumer about how their system is gonna work. They can't just say, "Well, we'll find somebody and let you know," and we sit here with broken appliances or no water because we're waiting on the warranty company and they're not doing anything. I had to call them and ask what was going on and why my claim wasn't being fixed.

    I put in the have my AC repair which they denied and I have the same thing two years earlier and the reason was we didn’t pay anyone but it is on my claim record that they sent out a technician. They said they didn’t pay anyone which means they didn’t pay the vendor for their work. The tech that came up wrote it up to be replace because the unit is old and outdated and it has to be replaced. Why would Choice ask me if the repair tech gave me an estimate for replacing my unit. Something is wrong with that. Choice is saying that because my unit had grass in it was the reason the compressor went bad which is not true and I service my unit every year.

    Last time I checked when the AC is running the fan is sucking grass in so I guess I have to service my ac every two weeks since I cut my grass every two weeks. I ask them to send another tech out which they refused and I said why you care, I am paying the service fee, then I ask to speak to next person in charge and they told there is no one else. I called their complaint line and same thing when I ask to speak to a supervisor, I was told there is no one else to talk to. This is bad business, it is bad enough, they never replace the items they can’t fix, they just give you a credit of about 25% of what the new item cost.

    Our HVAC system went out and we made a claim. Ken from Mechanical Concepts came by and gave us an analysis of the problem and reported to CHW. CHW came back to us within a week and informed us that we qualify for the fix but we had to pay some $ for the condenser and they would pay for the evaporator. I declined the offer and wanted to speak to the case manager. It's been like a week and we have not spoke to a case manager yet! CHW is telling us that the condenser and the evaporator is not compatible and charging us $; but if they are taking a 4 ton condenser and a 4 ton evaporator out; what is making the system incompatible?     The processing of the hot water heater claim by CHW was unacceptable. A technician had just left my house when I received an email that the company wasn't qualified to do the work, and the claim was pulled from OKC Plumbing Experts and reassigned to another technician to come to the house. I and CHW didn't need another technician to come out; I needed my hot water replaced. When I called regarding this the CS rep said "again" that OKC Plumbing wasn't qualified. I explained that they were very qualified and CHW needed to send me an email stipulating the company's lack of qualification. I explained that once I received the letter Indicating the company’s lack of qualifications, I would sue CHW for false information. Only then did CHW reassign the claim to OKC Plumbing Experts.     First of all, I researched warranty companies. Based on "customer reviews" this company had a high rating. I had my first claim for a failed hot water heater. The hot water heater was 9 years old and was leaking from the drain pain. I had a previous hot water failure in 12/23 and it was covered through another warranty company and there was no issue fixing it due to failure. My second hot water heater failed on 8/28/24. Choice is claiming that the plumber/technician said that the "expansion tank failed". This is partially correct but incomplete. The water heater failed due to natural wear and tear and the expansion tank "failed" as well because it is connected to the hot water heater and cannot be used again on a new hot water heater.

    They chose to fixate on the expansion tank, which is something not covered by them anyway. I was given Sophonia ** as a warranty manager. She informed me she had spoken to the technician. I received a call from A& M Plumbing, while he was explaining the issues, Sophonia ** hung up on him. This is the contractor CHOICE chose and they hung up on him because he was explaining the obvious failure? This is beyond incredulous! Pictures were attached showing the expansion tank completely intact and not leaking in any way. In fact, there was insulation to help behind this water heater and it was not wet and would be if the expansion tank was leaking. It was ONLY leaking from the bottom and that was clearly documented. I had to replace the hot water heater because two, 77 y/o, handicapped people reside in the room the water heater goes to.

    They are unable to make it up our staircase to shower. It is against the law for me to have water/hot water available to them for showering. This could cause adult services to be called in. I had no choice but to replace this. All I asked was for them to pay the portion they were going to pay to begin with. They said "We will see what the technician says" and get back to you next week (it is a holiday weekend). They hung up on the technician before my scheduled telephone conference but did let me know they spoke to him. The plumbing company will be sending emailed clarification but as I replaced the hot water heater, I'm not sure where this leaves me.

    When I purchased this warranty, they told me that I could even use my "own" companies as long as they were bonded and insured. Today, I was told this was not true and they won't even reimburse the company THEY chose to do my diagnosis. I believe they lied to me to get my business. My first claim with them is pretty cut and dried and they denied. I am extremely dissatisfied with the unprofessional conduct of Sophonia **, case manager, towards the technician and her dismissal of me. She said she would "put into consideration" my need to take care of the handicapped people and the reason I had to fix this as soon as possible. In any case, I was unable to speak with a supervisor or a "real person" until this claim was denied. I have owned 11 houses over 31 years and had multiple warranty companies.

    This company stands out as being the worst. It certainly does not merit the 4 or 5 star reviews it is getting. I believe those reviews are paid or submitted by individuals who have never had to use their services. My hope, is that CHOICE will come around and make this situation right. If so, I will re-evaluate my position. If not, I will make sure as many customers (realtors included) know how terrible this company is and how they treated me with a basic claim. Do better...I expected WAY more from an American Company.

    I had a worst experience with Choice Home Warranty in my life. I live in Texas and the temperature in summer is above 100 And my AC compressor stopped working. I called Choice Home Warranty and they sent Technician within a few days and they collect the service fee. And after week, they emailed me that I have to pay 400 from my pocket. I did accept and wait for almost months. Nothing happened.

    I keep calling Technician, no answer, finally he respond and he told me that they don’t Cover the Freon, which is more than thousand dollar, they cover only the compressor. Been two months and I still don’t have AC. Temperature still is above hundred and every time I call they said they’re gonna get back to me within 24 hour, never happened. Customer service and response time is terrible when I signed up for these plant, they said all I have to pay is service fee. Now they don’t cover nothing. I have to pay everything from my pocket. What kind of warranty is that?

    Please review your contract very carefully. Choice does not pay for replacement, installation or shipping. My cooktop was $2,100.00 and I was offered $373.00, I was told it was their option to not have it repaired and offer us $373.00 cash in lieu of repairing, I talked to a case manager and was not satisfied and asked if I could speak to her manager and was told no. I requested a callback and was cancelled twice after the original call. I have two policies which I will be cancelling and contacting the BBB. This was the worst experience I have ever encountered. While they call you back right away they cannot escalate the customers' complaints. I cannot even get a copy of my work order which I am entitled.

    Purchased home warranty for a duplex that I owned. Had them to come out and inspect the sprinkler system. The agents came out twice. First time I paid $200 for both properties for the inspection. Inspected two weeks later. They denied the claim saying that normal wear and tear of the sprinkler system is not covered, I go to cancel the claim they say that, "We will refund you the money that you paid to repair your sprinkler system because it was supposed to be covered 90 days," and only received a $200 check even though the invoice was $900.     Choice Warranty's service has progressively degraded over the years while simultaneously increasing the cost of their annual subscription and per-call charges. The major issue is that even when a service company determines that a failure is not the user's fault due to normal wear and tear, Choice Warranty can override this decision and deny payment by arbitrarily deciding that it's the user's fault. For this reason, it's not worth using Choice Warranty; you're better off paying a service company directly if something breaks.

    Updated on 09/26/2024: I turned a refrigerator issue in on August 18, 2024. On August 19 Sears was sent out to assess the problem (uncharacteristic as Choice normally takes 4 days to a week to get a repair person out). The technician arrived, immediately took my $85.00 deductible and then didn't have the parts so they were allegedly ordered and the appointment rescheduled for 8/24. The technician never showed up and there was no communication. At the end of the day (8/24) I contacted Choice and was told the parts had not arrived. I decided to check online the availability of the parts the technician identified and several parts houses had them for delivery within 2 days. I had several communications with Choice and all I got was "we are working on it". I even requested a tracking number for the parts but Choice continued to avoid the issue.

    Sears finally rescheduled for 9/13 and the technician replaced the motherboard. As soon as he moved the refrigerator into place I smelled something burning, the technician said nothing was wrong until the smell became so strong he could not ignore it. The motherboard had burned up in the exact same place. I was told they would order the parts. Sears contacted me on 9/24 stating the parts were in and scheduled an appointment on 9/27. On 9/26 Sears contacted me by email and text that the parts were not in and the 9/27 appointment was cancelled. I wrote Choice and was told the appointment was still scheduled. I inquired as to why I was sent a text and email from Sears stating otherwise and was told once again that Choice "was working on it".

    Tomorrow (9/27) it will be 40 days that I have been without a refrigerator. I requested Choice send a competent technician or give me the money to get a new refrigerator. The parts are readily available because they are used in several brands of commonly used appliances. In the numerous messages with Choice all I have gotten is "we understand your frustration" and "we are working on it". Thus far the only thing Choice works on is debiting my bank account for over $91.00 a month. If you pick this company as a home warranty company please prepare yourself for long wait times, placating customer service, and no follow up. The pro for Choice is they will take your money on time every month like clockwork. I would not recommend this company to my worst enemy, I couldn't be that cruel.

    Original Review: Choice has been horrible getting service technicians out for repairs. The latest episode is the worst. My refrigerator broke down on Aug 17 and they sent Sears on Aug 19. The technician was very interested in getting my deductible as soon as he crossed the threshold. The technician didn't have the parts on Aug 19 (although he said he did then he said he did not) and had to order them. I was given a new date of Aug 24, however no one showed up and no one communicated with me. At the end of the day I called Choice and got the usual...we will look into it. On the 25th I contacted Choice again for a status and the same platitudes. On Monday the Aug 26 I contacted Choice and asked for a tracking number for my parts and I was told they would contact Sears. Later in the day I followed up because I contacted Sears said they didn't have a claim for me despite having my address, email, phone number and order number.

    I contacted Choice again and asked for a tracking number and they put me off again. On August 27 I requested the tracking number and status of my claim, I was told to look at the Sears page which has nothing but my info and parts are ordered. I have been requesting a status for 4 days and choice says give us more time. Its simple to provide a tracking number if you are reputable. Neither Choice nor Sears will tell me something as simple as when the part was ordered or the method of shipment. There is no urgency in fixing my refrigerator but there is always urgency to take my deductible and monthly payment. Please don't waste your time and money with this company, I've been without a refrigerator for 10 days and no one will tell me how much longer it will be. I would give Choice a negative rating but 1 star is the worst.

    Unresponsive. Unprofessional. Service is through well meaning people in the Philippines who don't know what's going on. Can't get through to anyone. You have to wait for a call back. I had a repair and have been waiting to be reimbursed for the repair minus the service call for more than a month. At the start of my current claim -I had to tell the rep in the Philippines that I can get my own chosen contractor because the contractor they say will call never calls. "Well ma'am you have to wait for the contractor to call" - NO I DON'T. Thankfully my contractor was able to repair my refrigerator- my most recent service request thru Choice. I am still waiting for reimbursement. If they have to replace an appliance they only give you a fraction of what it costs to replace a like appliance. I paid $495. The company has deteriorated. I DO NOT RECOMMEND.

    I signed up for a 6-year policy and now wish I hadn't. Our experience is CHW has a very good site for taking up claims but from there on it's downhill. They do not have a good provider network at least in our area and in one case they sent an HVAC provider for a plumbing job who did not have the right tools for the needed repair. It's been quite an ordeal with denied repairs, having to file appeals, follow up with case manager and so on.

    Hi, I have a long term warranty plan with Choice. While their price is attractive, service level both from their agents and providers is not satisfactory. For example, one of my Faucet plumbing claim has been open for almost 6 weeks. Plumber is not showing up on appointments, does not know how to solve problems, Choice warranty does not have much of other plumber options to offer. Worst is that their agents are not very empathetic and sometimes rude. Another of my claim is with a refrigerator. Service company missed their appointment and did not bother to call me either. Choice warranty is only asking them to reschedule and even after multiple requests, I am getting put at the last again the appointment queue. This claim will be open for almost a month. My advice is to go for this warranty company only if you have time and patience to wait endlessly and deal with a non customer friendly company and eventually save some time.

    I paid over nine hundred dollars to Choice Home Warranty for repairs to be done on my appliances and it was suppose to also cover clogged drains. They did absolutely nothing and tried to turn the tables around and said it was my fault for letting hair go down the drain. Their plumber came out totally unprepared and quoted over 500.00 to unclogged the drain in my bathroom sink. Choice Home Warranty said they would pay two hundred dollars. I found another company to unclog the drain for one hundred and they said there was no hair down the drain. The warranty company never pays out because they send someone to do a diagnostic check and the consumer pays for the house call. Choice Home Warranty will turn the tables around and say it is the consumer's fault. The person who I hired confirmed it was just normal wear and tear.

    CHW has its pros and cons. Pro-they scheduled a tech to come look at our fridge 48 hours after it broke. The company they chose was fantastic and opted to come the following day instead because the fridge was not cooling. The report processed quickly and we were told within 48 hours that CHW would cover a good portion of the fridge's replacement. Con-we will not see cash for the replacement despite the fact that CHW lists all over their website and advertisements that its cash back. Instead we are supposed to receive an emailed gift card to Lowe's. This would not be problematic except that the gift card will be sent within 30 days. I called to see if there was anything that I could do to speed up the process because we are out a fridge, the customer service agent was extremely rude and about yelled at me that it wasn't their fault.

    We do not have a gift card and we do not have a fridge yet (a week following the fridge failing). It would have been helpful if the company was transparent with how they process refunds/replacements. If it was cash, we could just buy the fridge and wait for CHW to process. However, they chose the gift card, which expires within 6 months. The gift card forces us to find a way to spend a substantial amount at the store, on something aside from a fridge, because we can't wait 30 days before we can replace a fridge. The experience has ultimately been frustrating and I would not recommend CHW due to the lack of transparency, delays, and poor customer service experience.

    We finally found a good repair company within the Choice Home Warranty network. The company (Applx LLC.) has been to our home several times and always got the job done quickly and professionally. Applx gets 10 stars! CHW gets a rating of 1 Star because of the way they send anyone out to service your issue even if that is not a trade they normally do. For instance, they sent a bricklaying contractor out to do plumbing (that company came out 4 times), couldn't install a new faucet & then claimed that the pipes were rusted (copper & brass don't rust). CHW also has declared an issue "not normal wear and tear" & as a result won't cover the repair.

    Be extremely careful with your selections with this outfit. What you get is not always as it seems. I joined Choice Home Warranty just about a year ago and have used them at most one time. But that is not to say I have not placed other requests for services. When I joined, I was quite explicit in explaining that I have an above-ground hot tub.     I had a Choice warranty on my home for just under 10 years, and have to say, overall, got my money's worth. It certainly comes in handy when you need a new appliance or major repair. Since I started, I understand you've increased the allowed amount for replacement. A few years ago, I was only allowed $600 to replace an oven and microwave combo, but think it's a couple grand, now, at least. As my renewal was up this October (2024), I decided not to renew for a number of reasons. Although the cost was good, I was unhappy with being able to reach someone to speak to.

    Called on a weekend once and just kept getting voicemail and to go online. Handling emergencies is difficult too. And getting an appointment in 4 days when the kitchen sink is backed up, just doesn't do it. I found one where I can call my own service person and just let the company know that I had to call, and they will cover it. You might want to consider that too. Some things are not emergencies, but plumbing and a refrigerator or freezer that stops working is. That said, I cancelled my policy and received a refund for the amount that I had paid to renew in October, so all has worked out. I would say making customer service more accessible should be a priority...for any company. Thanks for the 10 years.

    CHW assigned a repair company (Pro Advance) for my clothes washer who diagnosed the problem and said we needed a new control panel. This cost me the normal $60 service fee. They said it could take a while to get the part. Six weeks later I called the service company and they would not answer my repeated calls. So then I had to start a whole new claim with CHW which they said I'd have to pay the $60 fee again to whoever they send out, which infuriates me. CHW said they have a 30 day expiration policy on claims and would not make any exceptions. I will NOT recommend CHW to anyone and will NOT renew my policy when it expires. They never seem to hire first rate service companies and their customer service is awful.
