    All the reviews for Choice were good and they're usually listed at the top of warranty companies in California. But it didn't work out well at all twice in a row, and I wasn't happy. I always go by the reviews that was why I was quite surprised that that was how they worked. I felt lied to. I had two issues with the same property and the same vendor. The vendor said Choice is one of the worst, that it takes so long for them to get back and pay them. The vendor seemed to work okay, but they were quite expensive. It could be a California up charge, but it cost me more than double for the same kind of water heater. I spent 3,000, and it's supposed to be a good deal. I have other rentals in other locations and I don't spend even 1,500 in Kansas. I'm very dissatisfied and I'm thinking about changing.

    I was with Choice years ago and had to let them go because of a dispute. Recently, I came back to Choice but had to go into a dispute about a minor issue. I had a washing machine and the lid went bad on it. The repair person said it looked like it was an aging situation. He submitted it but Choice turned it down. I had to call them and ask what was going on. They explained to me that they considered it something that was not fair wear and tear. I told them I didn't need their services anymore. After a few discussions, they said they'd go ahead and cover it. We're looking at a 300 repair that we had to go through a whole bunch of hassle about. I should not have had to go through that in order to get the item repaired. The washing machine is extremely old, and it was fair wear and tear. It wasn't damaged because of somebody messing with it.

    The day the rep said he was gonna call the repair person and tell him to go ahead with the repair, he did not call the repair person. I waited a week then called the repair person and he said he hadn't heard anything from Choice. I called Choice and the customer service person did it right away the same day. The repair guy had to wait for the part and a couple of days later, he came in and repaired it. The service people that did the job were very good. The price is high though.

    Choice Home Warranty (CHW) decided to replace my dishwasher instead of repairing it. It is stated in the contract that the option is up to them which I understand. CHW offered me $246 to replace my dishwasher which is a totally unrealistic offer, especially in California. Their explanations are worthless. One reason I was given was that would be their wholesale cost. So I asked where they would purchase a dishwasher at that cost and they said they couldn't tell me. In addition to having to purchase a dishwasher on my own I had to pay to have it installed. My out of pocket cost was almost $500. I will never refer someone to their company.

    I have good experience with Choice. They come out and do the job. If they can't repair, they replace. My niece who's bedridden had her air conditioning went out and that's in DC when it was like 95. I kept calling the DC Health Department and they took a week or so. But when I called Choice, they were out there the next day.

    Some of the technicians that came out said things that didn't make sense. I knew more than they did. When I had a claim for the garbage disposal, the guy was gonna leave two screws loose, and then I called him back and he asked me why didn't I call Choice. I told him, "Because they didn't do it. You did it." He was trying to get an extra fee from Choice. So he came back and fixed it.

    On or about 10/13/24, my refrigerator stopped working. The freezer didn’t work and all my food items melted and spoiled. In 10/15/24, I contacted Choice Warranty. Since then, I have had two visits from the service technician. The first visit he said he couldn’t do anything because the refrigerator was off. So he rescheduled for a second visit, and said he needed the fridge in for at least 24 hrs. The second visit he said it worked. But I could have a faulty control panel and he’s going to order a new one. I asked about the freezer and he said it was fine but would order a light bulb. I paid him 75.00 and he said he’d be back. Yesterday I got another bill for a 136.00 for the light bulb. I still don’t have a fully working refrigerator.

    I shopped around the internet and looked at four companies and it came down to Choice’s price and deductible. Submitting a claim is very easy. You go online and they have pop-up menus. If your dishwasher doesn’t work, you go to Dishwasher, the brand and explain what the problem is. As soon as you submit a claim, they will send you an email saying they received your claim and are working on finding a vendor. Usually, it's the same day or very early the next day. They’ll tell you who the contractor is and when they will be out to resolve your issue.

    I've had a good experience with all the contractors so far. With me, they're usually quick and come within a day or two. Some are more knowledgeable than others. When they arrive, sometimes it takes them a little bit longer to figure out what the problem is. But so far, all my issues have been resolved. They diagnose the problem and then, they have to go back to Choice with their diagnosis. Choice decides if they’ll just replace the appliance or whatever the issue is and the repair guy has to order the part and come back and put it in. So, it could be a couple of days from the time the technician comes out and says whatever the part is. And then they come back out. Everything works and everybody's happy. And I pay my deductible.

    A month ago, my dishwasher just stopped working and it was full of water. Choice replaced the dishwasher. They gave me a dollar amount and said it was cheaper to replace it than to fix it. So, they were gonna send me a check for a certain amount and I could get a new dishwasher. So, I went to Lowe's, got a new dishwasher, brought it home and installed it myself. Choice is not cheap-cheap, but it's cheaper than buying an appliance or a heater or an air conditioner. I paid a deductible, and that was that.

    My sister had Choice Home Warranty which was what convinced me to do it. I've had the policy for four years now and I like the most that I'm not having high cost of fixing things. They help find somebody to do the work versus having to do it myself which is always a plus 'cause you don't know who's legit and who's not. It's peace of mind for when things go wrong in the house. My house is now 21 years old and things seem to be going wrong.

    I also like being able to go online and putting in the claim. It's very user-friendly. They immediately send me an email that says they have my claim then it follows up with appointments and whoever they assigned the job to. I usually know the name of the company and the name of the person. This last claim that we had, they were sending me texts with the name of the person that was coming. The technicians have been great so far. Recently, the air conditioning unit went out. A technician came out, diagnosed the problem, ordered the parts, got the parts and put them in. Choice Home Warranty denied part of my claim but they followed up with me and explained why.

    I have a five-year warranty with Choice Home Warranty right now and everything's been going good with it. They're very responsive. My last claim was for an air conditioner and they did get it all taken care of. The technician they sent out was awesome, but I had to call Choice Home Warranty four times to have the company finally call me back and schedule the appointment for the recharge. But once that was done, everything was good. The tech that came out couldn't figure out why he didn't get a call to come back three days after he diagnosed everything. He got everything all set and fixed. It was only about 45 minutes from start to finish. Overall, Choice Home Warranty did everything they needed to do and they were very easy to deal with. s recorded.

    System not easily navigated—once you make claim they send to service group - they tell you they are licensed electrician but they are not - they work under company license. Technicians tell you one thing, Company tells you another. Had to make several calls and they tried to make 2 claims out of one. One Technician requested cash for Arrive. Unmarked vehicles and nothing to identify them, even receipt is generic without names. The second tech Nemiah was fabulous and did great job with repairs. He is why it’s 3 stars. His work and approach was 5 stars, the company a 1 star.

    I’m trying to figure out why my furnace is not covered. The message stated that the issue at hand is not normal wear and tear. So how is this possible, the only thing that we as the homeowner did was turn the furnace on, let it do its normal job. No one destroyed the furnace nor beat up the furnace. It runs its normal cycle.     Submitting a claim to Choice was disappointing. They’re out to make every claim cancelled. They have so many rules that they come up with, that I don't get what I want. And their whole policy is online. You can read it but it’s so long. They're playing the game so that they win and I understand that. There's always a hitch. This last time, they sent people out who didn't speak good English and that just galls me when they can't explain. I don't wanna be prejudiced. I asked the rep to spell what he was saying because I couldn't stand the workman. But Choice is going to who’s cheap.

    Choice sent out a technician for my refrigerator and he was knowledgeable. But he said somebody had touched this refrigerator prior to him so they walked out. They didn’t wanna be held responsible. The only people who have touched that refrigerator have been hired by Choice and I put in a complaint. They denied me my claim because somebody had touched it and I haven't heard the end of the claim yet. But I know I'm gonna have to buy a new refrigerator because they're gonna tell me that the other people say they never did it. The price was good but I would not buy Choice Home Warranty again.

    My name is Anthony ** and I am a 74 year old Disabled Veteran and unable to install a built-in Microwave. I've been a Choice Home Warranty policy holder since 2019. Our built-in microwave stopped heating on 10.22.24. Choice offered a Lowe's eCard for only $191 which will not even pay for any similar microwave at Lowe's. Choice's employee Yvette repeatedly stated they will not install a new microwave NOR will they pay installation costs.... Said our microwave was too old and they don't have to repair or replace and install. We asked for a case manager and set up an appointment time for him to call. CHOICE LIMITS THESE CALLS TO 15 MINUTES!!!. We spoke with Donald at 9:19 today 10.31.24 who stated this is their only offer and they would issue a Lowe's eCard for only $191 but he refused to pay for installation.

    $191 will not even pay for the microwave alone at Lowe's. This is not even half of what is needed. I cannot install it or pay $149 out of pocket for installation. Our contract does not mention this type of refusal to comply with our contract due to appliance age. Our policy states that our built-in microwave is to be repaired or replaced and installed at only the initial Service fee which we paid when the repairman came the other day. I requested a Senior Case Manager who is to call me in 24-48 hours. According to our contract, Choice should send Salinas Mechanical back with my new built in microwave and install it at no additional expense to me and complete their service call that I already paid them to do upon his arrival 10.26.24 OR THAT Choice issues a Lowe's eCard in the amount of $429.84 to me. These 2 choices are what our contract states that Choice will do.

    I have further escalated and am awaiting Choice's Senior Case Manager's call. Choice representatives did not care how old our appliances were when they issued our policy, I asked if they wanted appliance names, photos and serial and model numbers, but they did not want them. They said everything listed in our contract is fully covered to repair or replace---with a $3,000 upper limit per appliance.

    I picked this company because I believe they were legit. I bought this policy for my parents, who are seniors on a set income. They talked me into a three-year plan, saying their service fee would be cheap if I did so.     When that same washing machine is for sale for almost $750.00. I had to go back and forth with the claim agent, who up the price to $475.00. I am still waiting on that check, which they said takes 30 days. What is so upsetting about this is my mother was diagnosed with stage 3 cancer, and they had no remedy for my family and me. This company is so wrong in so many ways. Please don't spend your money on a company that would do this to a Senior and a cancer survivor. I am filling out a formal complaint with the BBB. It is not right and un-American to treat tax-paying people in America in this disrespectful way.

    I have been without a functional refrigerator since June 2024. Choice Home Warranty had Sears technician come check it and eventually put a new compressor on March 2024. Then fridge stop making ice and leaking June 2024. Sent Whirlpool technician to replace ice maker. Fridge stop working again July 2024. Choice sent Whirlpool technician out again and he said compressor was bad. Whirlpool refused to work on refrigerator because they did not install the compressor. Sept 2024 Sears technician come to check the refrigerator and he had to order part for compressor that is leaking. Now I’m still waiting for a part that is on back order. It has been 5 months without a functional refrigerator.

    My mom is 80 years old and we’re limited on space using a very small fridge in the garage for her medication and specific food she can only eat, along with food for me. But yet Choice Home Warranty (who I paid an annual fee for their service) still have not help me get my refrigerator fixed or provide me with a new one. As of today Choice Home Warranty told me I still have to wait for a back-order part they don’t even know when it’s going to be available. I have to eat out more than normal because I don’t have room in my small fridge in the garage for groceries. With this economy eating out is hurting me financially. It took weeks to get a technician to come and then I was told that the repair would not include the switch. I hired an electrician to do that. When the garbage disposal guy came, he put in a plug in disposal. Dah, it HAD BEEN HARDWIRED!! Had I known that, I could have had my electrician put the plug in then. When CHOICE closed the one repair to start a new one on the electric work, that took several weeks to happen.     Very dissatisfied with Choice. I had just renewed my warranty with them for the fourth consecutive year when my washing machine broke down in mid cycle. Prior to this I only had a small claim of $400.00 when my garage door malfunctioned. I filed a claim for my washer and a technician came out to look at the problem. He said I would be contacted by Choice when they made their decision. The very next day I received a denial letter stating it was not due to normal wear and tear. I had a hearing and was denied. Their rationale was that since the gear case broke it never would have happened under wear and tear. They said it would only break if I overloaded the machine, if it had sediment in it or it was moved and damaged. I explained that I was a senior citizen, only one who used the machine and none of the above happened. I was still denied.

    I couldn’t move the washer if I tried and only washed small loads as I live alone. They still denied my claim but offered me $150. I would have to pay the rest to have it repaired out of my pocket. This warranty is not worth the paper it is written on. Cancelled my warranty and will use that money to buy a new washer. They are very quick to take your money but I have to wait 15 -30 days to get my money back. I now have a new warranty with American Home Shield Gold plan that they were offering with a 50 percent discount for a year and has better coverage. Will never recommend Choice to anyone.

    I just canceled my policy with Choice Home Warranty (CHW) as they always found a spurious reason to not cover my claim and, in the process, I ended up being charged for three different service call fees for the same problem, which is a garbage disposal not powering on. The first claim I filed was denied because the plumber they sent noted that there was a leak (which I did not see) and very small rust. CHW reasoned that these are pre-existing conditions and are uncovered under the terms and conditions. After this, I attempted to cancel the policy during which a resolution specialist convinced me to stay with them in exchange for a reduced service call fee and monthly premium as well as opening a new ticket for the same problem.

    I agreed to stay and so they sent a second plumber who the. diagnosed the problem to be electrical. To me this is not surprising since the issue is garbage disposal not powering on. They close the ticket and asked me to open a third one for electrical problem. This was the last straw and I canceled the policy. Policyholders should remember that the way CHW operates is they always charge you for the service call fee whenever you file a new claim even for an existing same problem. And you need to file a new claim because they would close an existing claim once a diagnosis is made even if the problem has not been fixed. The worst thing is you can’t sue them in a court of law, only with their preferred arbitrator. Choice Home Warranty is out to get your money in the most blatant and despicable manner.

    This company always find ways to deny the claim. Everything is preexisting. If it's not new, it will be denied. The reason people get warranty is because things break down when it gets old but to them it's preexisting and therefore not covered. Don't get fooled and waste your money. I have had other home warranty but this is the worst.

    Choice home initial appointment service is good but after that, there is no guarantee when they can deliver the gift card or check. I have called multiple times and I was told they asked to send the gift card but we don't have control when they will deliver. For some reason, I didn't receive the check and I called them again and I was told it will take another 30 days to send the gift card. I can't wait this much time to buy the appliances.

    I sign three-year contract because my friend said this is good insurance for your house. I called and they explain to me then I sign contract. CHW person said, "If you not satisfied then you can cancel and pay how many months you use." I called for claim and they sent repair company after 10 days then CHW said this company can not repair so we have to send new company to repair. Second person came and CHW said, "Your claim is not approved." I called to cancel the contract and CHW manager Prince said, "You have to keep one year, not full refund." So I still have one year contract but we are not happy with service. And not to get full refund. I like to keep three years contract but service is not they give on first claim.

    I am going to get straight to the point. I am very disappointed in Choice warranty, I had my drywall done after a plumber came in to find the leak. The worker who did the job I believe was not licensed. The job looked liked a child did it after completing. All the representatives I spoke with was very rude.     Do not get fooled with the lower upfront cost. This is some sort of shady scheme. You will not able to get your appliances issues fixed with $100 service fees. You have to shell out at least $200 ($100 diagnosis + $100 for actual service) to get your problem fixed, that too after a long delay and frequent follow-ups. I was glad I had got a good deal for home warranty, when I initially bought it. I got a corporate discount and thought should be a good company, but I seriously regret it.

    I turned in a claim with Choice warranty. End of May 2024. My furnace wasn't working. They sent a repair man to my house.. He was at my house for 30 minutes. As he was leaving he said we won't have AC. Or heat until he comes back in about 4 days with parts. He came back 4 warm weather days later. We turned on the A.C. It was in the 80s. About 4 months go by. Then the weather turns cool. We try to use my furnace. It's doesn't work. I turned in a claim with Choice warranty. They said since it wasn't fixed when I turned in the claim that more than 30 days went by so they won't pay for it. After going round and round with them. They refused to pay. I will never renew my warranty coverage with them.

    We use Choice Warranty for our home. We made a claim August 20, 2024 for a washing machine repair. Today is October 24, 2024. Choice Warranty refuses to fix or replace our washing machine. We have made numerous calls. The website for communicating with them prohibits any additional messages from us. The customer service repeatedly says the claim has been escalated and to wait. Choice Warranty never responds. I finally went to their company site and left this email:

    "Claim number **. Your web site blocked me from sending any correspondence on my claim. Your rep told us yesterday at 10:30 am that the Adjustment Department will send us as email in four hours. It has now been over 24 hours and no email from Choice. We have been waiting for a washer to be repaired since August. It is now October 22, 2024. The technician reported nearly a month ago that the parts are no longer available. Sure appears to be a breach of contract." No response from Choice Warranty.
