    I am so pleased with Choice warranty - I recently renewed for another three years. Yesterday I saw that my main floor toilet was leaking. I had guests arriving and I was so worried that it would not be fixed in time that I almost called my handyman. I decided to see if Choice could fix it quickly. I explained my situation while submitting my claim. In a few minutes I received a call from the plumbing company and in less than a half hour the plumber was here, diagnosing the problem and fixing it. He knew exactly what to do.     I will need to invest an additional $600-$800 above the amount CHW has agreed to offer. I had another claim last year for an air conditioner. Initially the repair technician sent by CHW thought it was the thermostat but because the system was a Trane and required a computerized thermostat, a supervisor said CHW could only replace a builder level thermostat. Further evaluation determined that the entire system needed to be replaced but the technician never suggested that he inform CHW that the unit needed to be replaced. I had to invest $8000 to replace the unit. My recent discussion with a claim specialist in regards to my refrigerator said that I could have requested at least a partial reimbursement. I’m frustrated that it wasn’t suggested at the time.

    I had a leak in my kitchen sink. Nextdoor Home Pro assessed the issue and found that I had to replace the 33-year old brass faucet. They asked me to pick out the new faucet and also reminded me that Choice would only give me $70 towards any faucet. I appreciate the fact that they informed me of what to expect in terms of reimbursement.

    Later in the evening of the same day they did the assessment (while we were waiting for me to pick out a new faucet), the water faucet changed from dripping to pouring. I could not get the water pipes turned off. Nextdoor returned to my house later that evening and worked additional hour or so and turned off the water for the kitchen. I really appreciated how kind they were and how quick they were to return. Then next day they came and installed my new kitchen faucet.     If you're considering Choice Home Warranty, don't do it. I have had 2 claims that I have had to file over the last 2 months. The first claim was an electrical issue; they emailed us that the technician would be out between 7 am and 11 am. We waited, and no one showed up. I called the company that was supposed to come out, and they said that they don't work with Choice Home Warranty anymore because they are too hard and difficult to work with.

    I called Choice Home Warranty, and they said they would escalate the issue and get someone out within 24 to 48 hours. I received another email from a different company, and I called them right away. The technician asked what my address was, and I told him. He was over 2 and a half hours away and could not justify going that far for what they were paying him. I called Choice Home Warranty again; this time, they told me that they had a difficult time finding a technician and that if I found one, then they would credit me back, but I found out that the technician has to follow specific guidelines and if they don't, your stick with the bill. It finally took them three and a half weeks to get a technician to my home and at least me calling them over 6 times.

    My second claim has not been completed as of today. I have a plumbing issue, for which I opened a claim on 11/30/24 over their automated phone system. On 12/3/2024, I called Choice Home Warranty to check on my claim. They could see it in their system, but nothing had been done with it; they escalated and said it would be 24 to 48 hours before they got a plumber out there. On 12/6/24 called Choice Home Warranty again because I had not received an email confirming a plumber was coming out. They told me that they had not found anyone yet and that I could. I stopped them right there and told them that is what I was paying them to do and to get it done. They said that it would take 24 to 48 hours; I told them that if I didn't receive an email on Monday, I was calling them back.

    No email on 12/9/24, called them AGAIN, and they told me that they had a difficult time finding a plumber and that if I found one, then they would credit me back. I told them that is what I pay you to do and to get it done now. they said AGAIN that it would take 24 to 48 hours to get a plumber out there. I received an email on 12/11/24, and I immediately called the phone number on the email. The plumber said that he used to work with Choice Home Warranty, but he can't trust them, he's done 5 or 6 jobs for them and has only gotten paid for two. He said they were a scam, and they rip off the homeowner and the companies that they hire; you need to get away from Choice Home Warranty. I called Choice Home Warranty and told them all the information from both claims, and they said sorry for how long this has taken. We had escalated the issues, and we would get someone out there within 24 to 48 hours. I hung up PISSED as HELL!!!

    No offers to compensate me for the pain and inconvenience this has caused my family. Dealing with them has been a NIGHTMARE. The customer service is unhelpful, repeating the same canned responses without addressing your concerns. They prioritize you doing the work for them over fulfilling their promises. Save yourself the frustration and wasted money—look elsewhere for a home warranty provider. Choice Home Warranty is a scam. Avoid at all costs!!

    I called him 1 day in advance to tell him what the problem was. Fortunately, the repairman brought a replacement unit with him when he came to our house. He did a good job. The problem is that it took him 9 days to get here. That's too long a period of time if you have something that is critical to repair. It took 49 days to get our electric range repaired earlier this year. That's unacceptable. You don't seem to have the repairmen in this area to get the work done.

    I opened up a claim for a leaking roof and "Honest Construction N Action" was the assigned vendor. The technician spent maybe 5 minutes taking pictures of the front of the house. He knocked on the door to collect his $75 service fee and verbally advised that tuckpointing above the 2nd floor window was required to stop the leak. He had to be coaxed to come into the house to see where the water entered in the 2nd floor bedroom.

    Based on the vendor's assessment, my claim was denied. I challenged the decision because I knew he didn't even assess the roof. Choice Home Warranty advised that my next step was to reach out to the vendor to request photos. Choice Home Warranty said they had received photos but they couldn't forward those photos to me, and they also advised that the vendor told them he did in fact get on the roof to assess for the leak. I left the vendor a voice mail requesting the photos on 11/16/24 and never received a response to my voicemail.

    On 11/22/24, I sent an email requesting the photos because I knew he never inspected the roof. When I contacted Choice Home Warranty on 11/26/24 to advise I hadn't received a response from the vendor, I was told to pay for a 2nd opinion at my cost. I followed that directive and was denied because the 2nd opinion assessed the root cause to be something not covered under the policy. I have no issue with a denial if the root cause isn't covered. What I have an issue with is I didn't get what I paid for. The claim was opened for a leaking roof and Choice Home Warranty sent a vendor that didn't even get on the roof. It took a call from Choice to the vendor on 12/11/24 to tell him to send the pictures to me. I had to call him & ultimately received 6 pictures that confirmed the technician never got on my roof.

    Honest Construction lied to Choice Home Warranty that they inspected the roof & Choice Home Warranty had the same photos from him for over 3 weeks that confirmed he never inspected the roof. When I asked Choice Home Warranty to send another vendor to assess the roof, I was told the claim was past 30 days so my window to dispute had closed. Choice Home Warranty sent me down a rabbit hole unnecessarily. When this company had evidence that the 1st vendor never got on the roof, I shouldn't have been forced to chase down their vendor & pay for a 2nd opinion. Unacceptable service from Choice Home Warranty & their dishonest vendor!

    V&P Repair Services was scheduled when the first Repair Service did not fix the problem of the oven not holding the set temperature and leaving us with an oven that would not preheat.     Electrolux service tech was sent via Choice Home Warranty Company to repair Frigidaire freezer. The process was the biggest nightmare I had to endure, causing major stress, loss of work and sleep. Technician no-showed 2x, each appointment was rescheduled, but when called to Customer Support to confirm appointment they treated me as a "hot potato" & disconnected call on purpose to not assist. Finally technician showed but claimed he never had me on his schedule for those 3 cancelled appointments. This was the same tech that serviced my refrigerator 2 times in the last 3 months and mentioned that CHW did not pay them for the last service call.

    At the end of the day a new refrigerator was needed and CHW did not want to replace it, even though the service tech requested to be replaced. The Service Tech also informed me that this is routine, and each company will pass me back & forth to avoid replacement costs. The customer service agents were rude, speaking over me, placing my on long holds & then disconnecting the call. Very unprofessional, rude & demeaning company.

    to be clear this is not a review regarding the technician who came to service the property. He was amazing. This is a review of the warranty company, which is awful. It took three weeks to get a technician to come out and assess a very significant leak that was spewing water throughout the well room. It required us shutting down water For multiple days to avoid further damage. Despite the urgency, it still took three weeks for choice to find someone to come and service. Ultimately choice denied the claim because equipment is not covered under the policy. I question whether or not this coverage is illusory because all leaks are ultimately going to originate from some type of equipment failure, and therefore to the extent that Equipment is specifically excluded. There really can never be coverage under this policy which I paid extra for to cover the well. Additionally, it would’ve been helpful to get an understanding of what the potential coverage limitations were before making me wait over three weeks to get someone out only to tell me that it wasn’t covered in the work couldn’t be done. The Customer Service people at choice are completely unhelpful. When I first called to set up a claim, they couldn’t even find the policy and then advise me that the policy had been canceled, which resulted in me running around for three hours, trying to , confirm that policy was in place thereby wasting my time on the front end. And ultimately choice caused me to waste my time on the backend by delaying my service claim for me to appeal and only after multiple requests providing me with the policy issue. I’m assessing whether or not it makes sense to file a claim with the department of insurance because I’m not sure that there’s any value in the insurance insurance policy that I procured.

    This company is the worse experience I have ever had. Our oven was not working. We called Choice and it took them 3 days to locate someone to respond and fix the oven. The guy said he needed to order new elements. About 1 week later he returned and replaced the elements and assured us it was fixed. After he left we attempted to use the over and after 45 mins the oven heated to 250 degrees and that’s as high as it would go. The stovetop now does not work which it did prior to him working on it.

    We called again and it took several more days before he said he could respond. He scheduled the repair between 6-8 pm. The tech never called and never showed up. We called Choice back and were advised that they had 30 days to complete the repair. It’s now been several weeks without the use of our oven or stovetop. The only thing this company does in a timely fashion is withdraw money from your account. If you are considering a home warranty I would caution you to tree carefully with this company especially if you need a repair done quickly. They have no intention of performing work in a timely fashion regardless of what they present to you when you call to get a quote for the policy.

    We had a leak under the kitchen sink. I told the plumber we looked under the sink to see what the issue was. Was it a small leak, a loose piece that we could easily tighten? No need to make a claim if I can fix myself. But we couldn’t try and fix it, the piece fell apart as soon as we touched it. But the plumber reported that we tried to tighten it and it broke. I could not even try to tighten it. The piece was worn out. The house is 20 years old and this is original plumbing. Apparently plumbing parts do not wear out like that after 20 years of hard water so the piece was not worn out.

    Apparently I broke the piece so it’s not covered. Or maybe the pipes are covered but not the nuts that connect the pipes. In the contract is says wear and tear is covered but according to Choice the piece falling apart is not wear and tear and my claim is not covered. Also I’m not a licensed technician so obviously I can’t tell them it was wear and tear and have no idea what I am talking about.

    Updated on 11/06/2025: Avoid this company. Terrible customer service and they will drag their feet when you have an issue while they try to find any way out of funding your repair. My furnace went out in the winter last year and it took almost 2 weeks of back and forth all for them to finally say NO because they saw a bit of rust on some unrelated bracket (had nothing to do with the actual component that broke). The technician was blown away by how challenging they were to work with and the excuses they came up with to deny my claim. This whole time I was left in limbo while running a handful of space heaters in my house with a small child - no sympathy, no urgency while it was single digits outside. Now that I've cancelled I get numerous calls and texts from their call center army trying to get me to renew.

You will be bounced between multiple departments internally that are not connected well or on the same page. My furnace motor went out (mechanical failure). They made up something about the fan blade being bent and that's what fried a sensor. This was proven false because we could bypass the sensor and the unit worked as expected.     It took a week for my claim to be assigned to a plumber. Choice Home Warranty booked the appointment but the plumbing company had no knowledge of it. After multiple phone calls back and forth I personally had to coordinate and confirm the appointment for the following day. During the debacle the CHW representative recommended that we just start a new claim and schedule a new appointment even though the process would have to start all over from the beginning thus taking more time.     Arrived on time as scheduled and quickly determined the problem but the claim was denied due to it being an item that was under warranty and I'd have to go back to the installer for this. I pay $60 plus a month. Over $800 a year. And each call is $85 bucks. Now I have to call the installer who charges $125 to evaluate. He does not have the necessary part. Orders it and tells me there will be an additional $125 trip charge to complete the repair. The order comes in, the installer technician starts the repair and somehow after he pulls the power plug and then puts in the new part and then plugs it in there is no power. No breakers have tripped. No smell of blown plug. Meter shows no power.

    Now my AC and HVAC fan, thermostats AND heater do not work and it is Friday afternoon and the tech says I need to call an electrician to determine what the problem is. If the HVAC technician caused the problem and the electrician determines that to be the case he tells me they will pay. So I'm now at two weeks without heat and the first electrician I can reach is not available for a week. CHW has been slow responding to my calls but I put in a claim. Another electrician is available in three days so I locked down that appointment. CHW responds quickly and has an electrician available in 5 days. I cancelled my claim and hope the electrician shows up as scheduled in 3 days.

    About 3 weeks ago, the HVAC wasn't working. Your technician came out and determined that a whole new system was needed. My part would be about $2000 because the call didn't include the coils in the roof. There was a call back at the beginning of the week because there was no heat. There was heat before the unit was serviced. The person who installed the new HVAC (which included a new heat pump) didn't properly charge the unit so when the heat pump kicked in, it caused the weak breaker to flip.

    My tenant was forced to go without heat for 3 days in the winter. I was charged another $75 service charge because Choice said it was another issue. Had the system been properly charged, there would have been no issue, per the new technician. I would like to be refunded the extra $75 service fee I was charged because I had a heater before the initial service but not after and the heater failed because of an error of the initial service. I'm very unhappy with Choice for insisting I pay both service charges and for saying it was a new issue.

    Over the past month, I’ve had 3 service calls, 2 on my fridge (ice maker issues) and my garbage disposal. The 2 ice maker calls, though the service people thought it was ‘fixed’ when they left, it still doesn’t work right (despite me having to pay for 2 separate service calls, and we have to buy a new refrigerator. The garbage disposal was very noisy. We were told it was because of its age and we weren’t going to get a warranty replacement just because it’s noisy.     Technician arrived promptly around 7 am, replaced my heating unit on my 8 year old Samsung dryer. He was professional, personable & quickly had my new unit in and dryer heating.     Don’t waste your money. Had a refrigerator go out. They 2.5 weeks to finally resolve the issue. You need a new refrigerator. Then they gave us a wholesale amount to buy a fridge. You have to pay retail because they have no options to purchase at the wholesale amount they paid. At least with American Hone Shield you can go to the site and choose a replacement based on the style of what you are replacing. Tried to cancel my policy earlier in the month. Even though you paid for the full month it is effective that day. Then I called to cancel the first day of the new month and they still charged me for the whole month.

    Restarted Choice Home warranty, after several years and having a very bad experience. The salesman’s assured me things were different now.. I signed up and off we went. One morning I get up for my daily cup of coffee and opened the freezer compartment and everything was getting soft. (threw out about $150.00) went online started my claim.. Maybe the next day I get notice who would be coming out w/ instructions. Paid the man $85.00.     Updated on 01/03/2025: On December 12, 2024, I received an email assigning Comfort Masters to come and evaluate the problem on December 13, 2024, at 11:00 am – 3:00 pm. When Comfort Masters didn’t arrive, I called at 2:45 pm and was told that the tech would be here at 3:00 pm. Comfort Masters was another no-show. On December 13, 2024, I received another email from CHW stating that due to unforeseen circumstances the appointment with Comfort Masters was cancelled. On December 14, 2024, I received an email from CHW stating “We are working diligently to assign your claim to the best available technician in your area and to resolve this as quickly as possible”.

    On December 16, 2024, I called CHW and agreed to take advantage of their Claim Reimbursement Process whereby I find a tech of my own to make the repair, pay for the repair and I would be reimbursed by CHW. I contacted T-Mark Plumbing, Heating and Cooling. I submitted a diagnosis, estimate and pictures of the failing motor to CHW as they requested. The diagnosis in part read, “Inducer draft motor bearings are failing on motor creating a high pitch rubbing sound and indicates high likelihood of failure in near future”.

    Within 20 minutes of submitting my claim was denied stating that “we don’t pay for noise” when it was clearly stated that the noise was secondary to the failing bearings. I was also told that the motor had not completely failed. So according to CHW, 3-no shows, a cancellation and over 2 weeks, the motor must completely fail in winter and leave us without heat, in Buffalo NY? Typical insurance company, pay the high premiums and then they find an excuse to deny your claim. The end result was that CHW returned my entire premium.

    Original Review: I have had Choice Home Warranty since 4/2024. I filed my first claim on 11/21/2024 for a loud inducer motor bearing on my furnace. I was assigned a Choice Home Warranty "technician" to evaluate the claim on 11/25/2024 between 3:00 pm - 8:00 pm. The "technician" was a no-show. I called and was assigned another "technician" to evaluate the claim on 11/29/2024 between 11:00 am - 3:00 pm. Another no-show. I called and now I am assigned yet another "technician" who is traveling 135 miles to evaluate the claim on 12/12/2024 between 11:00 am - 3:00 pm. Given the distance the "technician" is traveling and my previous experiences with CHW I am skeptical.

    Does it appear that there is a severe shortage of repair technicians? Why? On October 28 claim is made, a repair person gets scheduled two days later—perfect! Day of scheduled repair - can't make it. I do not hear from anybody for weeks. I called in twice to find out what's up? Nothing until December - repair tech fixes refrigerator Dec 4th.
