    I called to schedule service regarding my Frigidaire Refrigerator. It looks like a freezer problem because the first thing I noticed is the ice cream was soft. Then it’s not producing enough ice. I troubleshoot by increasing the freezing temperature from company recommendation to 7. But it didn’t work. So I called CHW to schedule the appointment. A nice technician by the name of Ulices came, did the inspection & sent report to CHW. And advised to wait for the email for the result. He’s knowledgeable & has excellent customer service.

    I called December 20th for a heating issue. I didn't get a technician until January 17th. It's been a bad weather, I'm talking feets of snow and temperatures in the single digits! I have a 2 story home and with no heat, my pipes froze and burst! That was a pricey repair. Now my electric bill is astronomical because I have to use space heaters. I'm not scheduled for an technician to come back until February 2nd. They've been here twice now and CHW keeps sending them back for more information. Dragging this whole thing out. I was told there are multiple things wrong with my furnace including a Crack causing a carbon monoxide leak. This is a serious matter that's taking too long to resolve.

    Was not informed of the 30-day wait policy!! Less than one week after joining, I tried changing the filter on my refrigerator when it started leaking. I phoned about this issue and was informed of this policy. I was forced to pay another vendor to handle the leak. I began reading reviews for Choice and found many negative reviews.     I am disappointed in Choice Home Warranty, but I believe you will do the right thing. I purchased a home warranty for $660, and my Samsung refrigerator stopped working. It is five years old. I contacted CHW, and they sent a third-party vendor, to which I had to pay $75.00, to tell me that CHW would not pay, but I had to submit a claim, but they would deny it. So, I filled out a claim. Guess what. You denied? So, I filed an appeal. My question is, what do I pay you for? So now you have pushed this off on Samsung, and in a week (it will be two weeks without a fridge), they will send out another technician, and that will cost me another $150.00. If it is covered, I am good, and if not, I have to pay the repair. Again, I ask, why am I paying you? Did you help me by working through the process with Samsung? No.

    I have other warranties on my car, for example. I bought a policy, and when the backup camera went out, guess what? They paid for it. That is how these policy work. I pay you and you fix appliance that are covered under the policy. The refrigerator is covered under my policy. So, as of now, I rate my experience as zero or no stars with the contingency that if you make it right, I will add my opinion.

    Furnace stopped working. Technician came out to fix it. Got it going but missed the problem. I had to call him the next morning as house was in the 50's. He came out and recognized the issue. Was not fixed as a circuit board was bad. I am now waiting on approval for the parts to fix the furnace. I am having to heat the house with portable heaters.     Choice is doing its best to reject claims for small letter details in the policy. They don’t really share when they sell you the policy. I just had a recent experience with a perfectly well installed water heater that didn’t have expansion tank, as it wasn’t required for certification and now suddenly it isn’t covered. I already paid for 5 years…now they can keep rejecting.

    The young tech was very nice and found the problem right away. It was a loose wire. He also determined that the pressure was good and that I did not have a leak in my system. This is not what a Semper Fi air conditioning tech found on Jan 9 when I had my units serviced and inspected. The Semper FI tech said I had a leak in my air handler for the larger of my two units. At no time did the tech from Semper Fi mention dirty coils or debris. And the tech Choice sent out did not mention anything about the coils either.

    Yet I got a preemptive email from Choice saying they weren't going to cover anything related to my heat pumps because I was not having them serviced. How would Choice know that, especially since two different techs did not mention dirty coils at all? And this was over a two week period from one inspection to the next. It sounds to me that that is how Choice wants to NOT cover their stated responsibility of covering what I paid for, and Choice says IS covered. Sounds like fraud and deception to me.

    I got an email saying I had an appointment one morning which was not good for me. I called contractor to tell him it was not a good time. I have not heard back from anybody.     My claim for the tank was denied because the tank was exempt from the policy. When I called Choice Home Warranty to start the policy I specifically asked to add my well pump to the policy. I made the mistake of assuming all equipment related to the pump would be included. I was never told that the tank would be excluded.     On Sunday 1/19/25, I submitted a claim for my heating system that the pilot light would not stay lit and that in order for me to get any heat I had to relight the pilot light by hand. Here in Abilene, TX the temperatures at that time were running in the high 30's low 40's during the day and in the mid to low 20's at night and the pilot light was shutting off at night as well as in the daytime. On Monday at 10:43 am my time I received a confirmation email that my service request had been received, approved and that the hunt for a service technician had begun. To be fair Choice did send me an email giving me the chance to bring in my own vendor to fix the problem providing that they provide a list of requirements to Choice and then if everything is just right, I might be reimbursed within 30 days. The problem here is that no large company in town will work with home warranty providers.

    Finally on Tuesday 1/21/25 at 3:22 pm my time I received an email that a service technician had been assigned, and the appointment was set for Friday 1/24/25 between 11 am and 3 pm. They provided me with the name of the company and the contact along with the phone number. This not being acceptable I called the vendor and talked to Josh (owner and nice guy) but he told me that he was really backed up until Friday but if he could find an opening before Friday, he would give me a call.

    Wednesday 1/22/25 about 3:30 pm Josh called me back and said that he could come right over if that was convenient. He arrived about 10 minutes later. About 30 minutes later problem solved and as of this writing Thursday 1/23/25 at 2:45 my time the pilot light has not failed. K udos to Josh with Emergency Trade Service LLC, he was knowledgeable, polite and understood my problem. Josh's company, like all the other companies sent out by Choice are "startup's" and once they get their footing, they drop Choice because of turnaround time for payment. (So, I have been told).

    I've heard many good things about Choice Home Warranty and I'm sure they are all true. My first experience with a "reimbursement" request is NOT ideal however. The vendor I choice came out and repaired an extremely clogged drain. When assessing, the vendor repaired it at the same time without my prior approval so I was left with paying the invoice. I thought I could submit and be reimbursed. Wrong! I am now not eligible to receive reimbursement as I didn't "submit" the repair first and wait for approval. Live and learn. This review serves as a warning to other customers who elect to be "reimbursed" -- it's easier to let CHW assign the vendor and leave it in their hands.

    I subscribed to Choice and also paid extra for septic and our A/C. I paid faithfully for a year or more when something happened to my dishwasher. I called to ask how to get a repair because when I tried to do it online it asked if it was a plumbing issue or an appliance issue. It made me choose and I was not sure. They recommended a plumber so I set up an appt. The tech arrived, charged me $85, to tell me he could not fix it because it was an appliance repair that while he could fix, Choice would not pay him because he was sent out as a plumber. He took pics and wrote a report and sent it to Choice. A few days later the appliance repair came out, charged me another $85 but fixed the dishwasher. He said a plastic gasket of some sort was broken. Took about 10 minutes and he left.

    Within a few minutes Choice sent me an email saying my claim was denied because a gasket cracking was not wear and tear it was misuse of my appliance. I called to ask what happens because the repairman man left already. They did not pay him. I called him myself and paid them because they are a small business. They can not take those hits.     I have had several home warranty companies and none of them have been great but Choice Home Warranty is the worst so far. On the plus side their online claim process is pretty easy. The technicians they send out, most are extremely knowledgeable but limited by the company on what they can and can't do. Now the downside, their overall claim resolution is horrible, so bad I am considering canceling the contract. Based on a recommendation of an acquaintance I paid upfront for 5 years with the 6th year being free. Probably a big mistake on my part as I expect it will cost me to break the contract.

    I was under the impression if an item needed to be replaced it would be replaced with an equivalent product. There are at least 3 issues that come to mind. 2 were replacement and one was a complete denial of the claim. For the replacements issues instead of equivalent replacement which was exactly what the response to the clam stated. They would only offer what they considered would be their cost. This involved a dishwasher that needed to be replaced. It had all the bells and whistles and they only offered about a third of what it would cost to replace the unit. This was based on a search I conducted for an equivalent unit at the company where they offered to send me a gift card. They would not pay for delivery, taxes, installation or haul off of the old unit. Actually an insulting offer.

    The other replacement was the faucet for my kitchen sink. I had one of those swivel faucets that had the pull out spay hose as the head. It started to leak around the swivel joint of the body of the faucet. Was told they would only replace it with a "contractor" grade faucet. Another words just a swivel faucet with a big nut at the top to hold it on. Again not an acceptable replacement. For the denied claim, it involved the same dishwasher several months ago. Keep in mind the dishwasher was here when we moved in about 9 years ago but still supposed to be replaced with an equivalent product. However this involved the latch. I was opening the door to dishwasher and the plastic latch broke. Probably due to age of the unit as it probably became brittle. But they said it was owner damage and not considered fair wear and tear. I wouldn't recommend this company to anyone.

Paid technician $85 to tell us microwave has to be replaced. Microwave we had was a mid-level one; Choice Home has agreed to give us $191 so we can replace it with the most inexpensive model available.     I have been with Choice Home since 2017, and have filed 7 relatively minor claims in that time. I have found that, apparently, it is increasingly difficult for you to find technicians to come work on my systems, and when I have to find my own technicians, you require that they provide you with a lot of information before you will allow them to work on the system and pay my claim. The last AC repairman, who I found after waiting 2 weeks for you to find someone, came out and fixed my heat pump at an extremely reasonable price. He did not care to deal with you and your requirements, so I had to plead my case to get reimbursed. I have found that it is increasingly difficult to reach you since your phone number keeps changing. I don't know what is up with that; I just know that it is irritating and seems sketchy.

    Updated 01/24/2025: Found out that my solar water heater is not covered by my warranty policy. When I got my warranty policy they knew it was a solar hot water heater and they did not tell me I was not covered. I have been paying for almost a year for my house warranty and now they're telling me my water heater because it's solar is not included in my warranty. So now I have to go fix it paying anywhere from 15 to 1800 and paying a plumber to come install it. So why am I paying for home warranty.     Opened a service call for a Samsung fridge 90 days ago and after 3 poorly qualified tech visits was informed that the 9 year old fridge repair will not be covered as there was a class action lawsuit in 2017 with a service bulletin that listed my Samsung refrigerator. I was directed to call Samsung to cover the repair. Samsung said the fridge is out of the standard 1 year warranty and the problem is normal wear and tear over the past 9 years and will not be covered. Got a written note from Samsung and took this info back to Choice Home Warranty and they still refuse to cover the repair.

    Have never had such a frustrating customer service experience where I am being asked to run around to try to get warranty coverage on a 9 year old covered appliance. This is the typical deny and delay tactic that warranty and insurance companies deploy. I thought American Home Shield was bad but Choice Home Warranty really makes AHS look like the Costco of the retail business. Stay away from Choice Home Warranty. Do not get tempted by their lower rates as their customer service and their repair techs are the worst in any industry.

    Do not use this home warranty company. Their service technician refused to come back and service the heating unit. They were not able to find another contractor. They authorized me to use my own & they refused to pay. The furnace needed replacement. Heat exchanger was bad with carbon monoxide readings over 200PPM. Outside temperatures were -5F to 19F every day. It took over a week without heat. CHW said they couldn't reach the technician but didn't bother to call me to facilitate a call. I had to have the heater installed & pay. They will find any way to not pay.

    Choice Home Warranty is one of the worst options on the market. Please learn from my mistake: don't sign up with them. Many people get home warranties primarily for appliance coverage, but if your appliance is new or still under the manufacturer's warranty— which is often the case— Choice Home Warranty will not cover it. You end up paying a premium along with service fees, and when the cost to repair exceeds a certain threshold, they decline the service. This practice should be illegal, but unfortunately, corporations often make their own rules in our country.

    I recently filed a claim, and the technician discovered that the motor for my Goodman AC unit was faulty. The unit is only four years old. It was clearly stated that Goodman only covers parts, not labor. Despite this, Choice Home Warranty denied my claim, citing the unit's active manufacturer's warranty. I made numerous frustrating calls, but they remained adamant in refusing coverage. As a result, I had to pay $495 out of pocket to repair my AC, even though the technician received the part from the manufacturer for free.

    What is the point of a home warranty if it doesn't cover what the manufacturer doesn't? Choice Home Warranty is not suitable for those with new appliances, which is ironic, considering that older units are more prone to breakdowns. I strongly suggest you consider another home warranty company, especially if you only have a manufacturer's part warranty. Please don't make the same mistake I did by choosing Choice. I cannot stress this enough: stay away from Choice Home Warranty.

    The Choice Home Warranty is the worst appliance warranty, they have so many lawsuits! They mislead me to purchase this warranty, and according to them, they made it sound to be a great one! They claimed their prices were unbeatable compared to my actual warranty. But 6 months after I purchased their warranty, my refrigerator stopped working properly and the nightmare began! First, they found excuses not to pay, they send an unprofessional technician that didn’t make an appointment with no identification or business cards and who also was not knowledgeable with this type of refrigerator. He told us that it will take a few weeks for the part to arrive and he will let us know as soon as the part arrives.

    We waited for almost a month and we thought it was because of the holidays. I called the technician and asked about the part, but he couldn’t remember and he was going to call us back. We called CHW directly and asked to provide us with an update on our claim. They told us that the claim was denied the next day because of overload and neglect of the refrigerator! I asked, why I wasn’t notified and tried to work it out with them by explaining that my refrigerator was never neglected or overloaded by any means. After escalating the claim and not getting anywhere with them, we figured out that they were waiting for the claim to expire so we wouldn't be able to file a dispute within the 30 day window. We will file a complaint against them to the Better Business Bureau, CA State Department of Insurance, and Small Claims Court if necessary. I’m taking this time so that other consumers won’t have to go through this ordeal. Beware!!!

    My furnace failed on Wednesday,1/15, and was reported to Choice Home Warranty on 1/16 at about 2:30 am. I expected to get a technician to respond within the advertised 24-48 hours. I hired an outside technician who immediately diagnosed the problem and send all the info to Choice Home Warranty on Thursday,1/16 around noon to expedite the repair by defining the needed part - the control panel.

    I received no Choice Home Warranty technician response over the next 60+ hours despite multiple calls to Choice Home Warranty about the importance of my problem facing a forecast of sub-zero weather with no furnace. The company my hired technician worked for had a policy of not working with any third-party payors, so I was not able to use the alternative approach Choice offered me of having my hired company request approval to have me pay personally for the repair and then try to get reimbursed by Choice for the work they did.

    I finally was contacted by a technician with a relationship with Choice on Saturday, and they came out the following Monday to do the repair. Therefore, I was without furnace heat for 6 days in freezing weather, struggling with space heaters to keep my pipes from freezing over and living in frigid conditions in my home during that time. This does not live up to the promises and expectations I was given when I signed up for this program. I only gave this "service" one star because the technicians who ultimately came out did a good job of replacing the part needed and restoring my heat. The fact that it took 4 days to get them out for the repair is the major complaint here.

    I put in Sept 2023 when my dryer stopped working. Only now after the 1st technician couldn't be found and you told me I could hire one myself, which I did. You didn't like their diagnosis so you said you would send me one which did not show. I had to put in a new order again and pay again for them coming out. Finally, today, another technician came, which I paid again, finally did something and actually had the parts to repair my dryer so it finally works. At least after waiting for 1 year and 4 months, he actually fixed it. Hanging clothes for over a year in a valley that rains often has been a pain. I also opted out to receive a chk for my washer since they could not find the part to repair it. I was promised a chk so I will see if you finally have it ready for me. I don't understand why you just couldn't give it to me then.

    I just filed my first claim with Choice, because my furnace is out. A technician (he was great! 10/10) came out & was diligent in finding the issue. Unfortunately, it took him 3 trips & replacing 3 different parts, which took about 5 days total. When he left Friday afternoon, the furnace was running. Sometime during the night, the furnace kicked out again, and I woke up to 56 degrees in my house. I tried to contact him, but being a weekend, I couldn't get a hold of him. I contacted Choice, to get a different technician assigned, and was told 'that's not the way this works'. I was told Monday at 3pm was the earliest appointment.

    The forecast here in WI is 0-3 degrees, for the next several days, and I'm supposed to wait 3 days for the tech?!?! Luckily, I have a pellet stove, so I have at least a heat source, but it doesn't reach the entire house. I now have a frozen pipe in the far bathroom, which I'm hoping doesn't burst. I'm trying to heat the room with a space heater. When I called again to try to get someone here sooner, I was again told that Mon is the earliest appt. I said, "If this pipe bursts, I want it under the same claim," because the frozen pipe was due to them not responding quickly enough. I was again told 'that's not how this works'.

    When I asked to speak to someone in the US, I got the run around. When I pressed the issue, she finally said 'I am in the US', which was a blatant lie. I have used home warranties in the past, and I've always found them to be worthwhile, and beneficial. I do NOT recommend this company though. I will be shopping for a different warranty company, that provides reliable and timely service.

    First service call I made for gas furnace I got no appointment set up and had no heat so I cancelled it and called someone else. I had to replace the furnace because it was not pre authorized by them, I did not have to wait 24 hours and furnace was put in the next day. I have a rental that this man does the PM on and have dealt with him for years. I have inlaw suite that is heated by electric. HVAC. It froze. Literally.     Choice Home Warranty has provided me good service until recently. They are refusing to pay for parts to replace a covered appliance. They are calling parts normally replaced with the same type of part (hose, valve, catch pan, etc.) modifications which are excluded for coverage. This amounts to deceptive language since a modification is a change in design. The service company told me that all they are covering is the delivery and placement of a replacement (new) appliance. The charges not covered on a water heater amount to almost the purchase price of the water heater.

    I bought a Choice Home Warranty policy because they were shown as one of the best online per Forbes. They are so wrong. Our heater went out over a month ago and I still have no heat. Technicians won't come out because they are owed money from past jobs that they have not been paid for. The last technician that they assigned would not even come out to my house because they are owed over 12,000.00 in back jobs that were approved. The owner said that they won't allow them to use original equipment parts to do the job right. There is still snow on the ground and we have lows in the teens and highs in the 30s and no heat for over a month is unacceptable. They say I can use their reimbursement system, REALLY, YOU JUST HAD THE OWNER OF AN HVAC COMPANY TELL ME THAT YOU OWE THEM OVER 12k DOLLARS!! ARE YOU KIDDING ME???? I have worked with many warranty companies and I have NEVER seen anything like this.

    When they sell you they explain how much better they are than all the other companies yet I have no heat in January for over a month. Trust me, keep your money!! Tried to talk to a Manager on the phone but you can't get to one which is fine because I'm sure they can't do anything about it anyway. The people answering the claims calls are reading right off a sheet of paper and not listening to a word you say!!

    The technician ordered the boards from Whirlpool which were delivered promptly. Choice decided it was a better idea for me to buy a new one with a Lowe’s e-card. However the card was for $343. Cost of washer at Lowe’s is $49* + hauling old washer at $50 + installation kit of $37.. Not including $87 for three year coverage the balance would be $385. Am 87 years old living on a social security and no credit cards. I do not have the funds to do what Choice decided. I went ahead and called the appliance repair company to go ahead and install the parts (boxes sitting in my garage).     Hello - once this contract expires, we will never use your service again, and we will recommend the same to any friend who’s buying a house. We have zero issues with the technician. Your policies and service however our embarrassing. Every time we call you out to take a look at something you insist that because it’s functioning, even though there may be something obviously wrong, you won’t repair it and you won’t replace it. On Wednesday someone was out at a property that we have. The washer/dryer was making an unbearably loud squeaky noise. The technician went out, looked at it and said it would be a $1300 repair.     Your people (not the repair company) insisted that we replace our $6000 Viking oven with one they found for $675 rather than spend $775 to repair a broken over control unit. This is a scam proposal. We will look for another warranty company. Your only goal is to get away cheap and get out of any future repairs for our oven. I was not allowed to talk to the person who made this technical decision but only your claims adjuster who had no power to help. Despite having a licensed HVAC technician provide written documentation that this was normal wear and tear (covered under warranty), they denied coverage claiming unproven "pre-existing damage."

Going to the laundromat in 20 degree weather multiple times and for an additional 2 weeks was not going to work. Had I known it was 10 years old. I wouldn’t have wasted the $85 on the service call. I can’t see any valve in spending on this unit. Choice thinks differently. This was was first claim, which ended up to be a no claim. And when my subscription comes up in July. I will try another home service provider. I didn’t like this experience. The next carrier might be worse or better. But change is good when I have had an unpleasant experience. Thanks for trying

    Job was completed in a timely manner and professional courtesy was extended throughout the service with explanation of the assigned task given for the repairs to be completed by the technician given the assignment. I would highly recommend the proficiency of the requested repairs and any issues that needed to be addressed with excellent communication from Choice Home representatives of keeping one informed as to the status of locating a contractor for the needed repairs.
