    Working with Choice Warranty has been some of the worst customer service that I’ve ever dealt with. How do they expect someone to wait two weeks when their appliance breaks down. And secondly, the gentleman can’t repair it so they’re gonna replace my washing machine. It’s going to take up to 30 days to get a gift card from Lowes for me to go purchase a new washing machine. I think I should have the choice where I’d like to go get my washing machine from.

    My claim was denied because the tech was unable to remove a screw from the shower handle and had to cut it off to replace it. This took NO EXTRA LABOR TIME OR PARTS. My only choices were to either forfeit the $85 service fee, or pay in full for the repair. What's the point of having your warranty if something this simple will be denied?

    We live in AZ where there is extreme heat. During the summer of 2024 our AC went out and the inside temperature was over 90 degrees. We opened a claim and it took almost a week to get a service tech out to look at our unit. In the meantime we ended up staying in a hotel for a night to get some relief. We also ended up finding a technician on our own and they came out the same day, diagnosed the problem and promptly fixed the problem. Our washing machine was making a loud rubbing sound and the unit danced all over the floor. Once again it took some time to get a technician out who never did diagnose the rubbing sound (which it still makes). Not only did he not diagnose the problem but he was a bit standoffish and rude.

    Recently our heater went out. Again we opened a claim and it took just short of a week have a technician come out. In the meanwhile we had to layer our clothes and use a heating blanket to stay warm. Eventually our claim was denied as the unit is still under manufacture warranty. We have been very dissatisfied with the turnaround time and even more frustrated our policy didn't cover the needed repairs. Not sure what good it was for us to have paid for a policy through your company. We ended up cancelling the policy and will not recommend your company to anyone.

    I filed a claim TWO weeks ago with Choice because my washing machine stopped working. A technician was assigned to come out five days later. The technician stated the main electrical board was bad and a replacement was no longer available. He emailed Choice that information. I was advised that they would be sending me a Lowe's gift card in order to help replace my washer, adjusted of course for the age of the washing machine. I was also advised it would take THIRTY days to received said gift card! I am supposed to go THIRTY days without washing clothes? TOTALLY RIDICULOUS!!

    Contacted Choice Home Warranty for a claim on our furnace. Was making noise clicking off and on. Took a week to get an email stating that Choice was looking for a technician to come out. Granted it was 10-15* during this time. Finally got a scheduled date and time for technician to come out. Took a day off work for our 11:00-3:00 time allotment. No show and no call.

    Called the HVAC company. Left message. Gentleman called and left message on my cell.. since we were at work.. saying he would call one hour before he was coming. Again.. no show and no call. I called and left another message at company and have never heard back. It’s been over a week. This is ridiculous. I paid for the year in advance and never had a service call all year. Needless to say I will not be renewing for another year and also having 4 family members canceling their contracts also. Do not use this home warranty company unless you want to throw away your hard earned money and freeze in your own home!!

    I am very dissatisfied with the service. Reported no hot Water and they scheduled an appointment to LOOK at the issue the following Wednesday. That means my family is without hot water for 4 Days. Now they come to look at it and it takes another 24 hours to get approval for the repair or replacement. Another 3 to 4 days before the replacement can be found and another 2 days for Replacement. That's a total of almost 2 weeks before I get hot water for my children! Don't believe any commercials for quick service. All they do is apologizes for the inconvenience. Useless company! Find someone else.

    Technician appointment created without consulting or consideration for the fact that people do work. It would be easier for the customer to be able to set their appointment time for service so as to arrange around their schedule, not yours. Technician was late and instructed to call a different number than what is on the policy. That did not occur. The additional number was to the other adult at home during the time frame of the service appointment. The technician arrived almost an hour after the scheduled time frame even though I know that it’s an estimate.

    I was a Sears Home Warranty member for years. I never had any major issues with them. But they went out of business. I was switched to another company. There was two times I told the company what the issue was, and they sent someone out (I thought) to repair the issue. Upon arrival I had to give the technician the deductible. Immediately after receiving the money the tech told me, "The issue isn't covered under your policy."

    If it's not covered, why am I paying for someone to come to my house to tell me it's not covered. Why didn't the receiver of the phone call save me time and money and tell me that isn't a covered item? But then I find out that this new company doesn't have the same coverage that I had before. This company has a $500.00 max on any issue. I'm so glad nothing major went bad like the water heater or air conditioner. $500.00 doesn't go too far. Choice Home Warranty is giving me comfort that the other company didn't give.. The other had a S in their name and the S wasn't for savings!

    I had a leak coming from the ceiling into my downstairs bedroom. It started on a Wednesday morning and I wasn't scheduled for a technician to come out until Friday between 3p-8p. During this time I was unable to use the restroom which I discovered was the problem for that period. You'd think that plumbing would be considered an urgent issue. I do have to say that some companies who contract with CHW don’t have a favorable view of CHW due to being paid in a timely manner. Our technician was very pleased at how smooth the job went when a lot of times the job doesn’t go smoothly. I would like to think that doing our part and troubleshooting also made the job smoother.

    As to starting the claim, the staff at CHW is very knowledgeable, polite and able to explain the claim process. The out of pocket cost was extremely reasonable. After the job was done I got an email to confirm that job was done which I had to click on the link to confirm, a step customers may overlook. We saved close to $500 which is a lot for us.     We have a 17 year old 42” built in GE that the freezer started freezing up on the back and bottom of the freezer cabinet. I called Choice Home Warranty and the sent out a technician. His conclusion was that the defrost line was kinked or clogged. We wanted a second opinion and was that we had to pay for it. I called GE and they give me a name on of a GE authorized repair company. They performed test of the main board and defrost line and found this to be the problem of the defrost line freezing up, not kinked or clogged. GE gave us a case number that the technician we got was correct and the parts were no longer available. Bottom line is that Choice Home Warranty wasn’t going to except the facts from the GE or GE technician and wouldn’t help with replacing our refrigerator and we offered to pay half.

    CHW would not authorize repair unless the tech drilled into the tile around the faucets to see what needed to be repaired. If I had allowed that and CHW would not authorize the repair I would not be able to use the tub/shower unless I repaired it at my own expense. What do I pay a home warranty company for it they refuse to repair a breakdown. Obviously a leak/drip is coming from somewhere behind the tile.     Disappointing service coverage. My bathroom sink was clogged. The technician (who was great) had to remove the P trap pipe under the sink and clean it out in order to clear the blockage. Due to normal wear and tear, the pipe SHOULD HAVE been replaced. The claim was denied. The technician put the original pipe back on and now it has a leak. Choice Warranty will not approve the replacement of the p trap pipe. So one issue was resolved, but in the process of fixing that problem another problem was created. This would be a very inexpensive solution to approve. I’m extremely disappointed with Choice Warranty’s service coverage and will not renew my contract and will dissuade my friends and family from using Choice Warranty. I have 2 stars because the technician was great and did his best.

    2025 has not started out well regarding my home’s mechanical items. Disposal went, shower controls, hot water tank, furnace and dryer. Contacted Choice to implement my home warranty and they stepped up having my issues fixed. The only issue I have pending is getting reimbursement for my hot water tank. They could not get someone to take the call so they left it up to me to find someone to replace it, which I did, but I’ve yet to be reimbursed and it’s been 2 months now. Other than the hot water tank issue they’ve been great!

    The HVAC unit was not producing heat. Technician assigned came out on Thursday 1/23/2025 was able to replace transformer box but there seemed to have been a bit more of an issue that he was not able to figure out, so another technician came out on Monday 1/27/2025 and was able to pinpoint the problem. Overall I was satisfied either way as long as I had heat during this winter month. No complaints.

    I cancelled my policy after being a customer for a few months and my first service call was awful. It took me three tries to get the right service technician to my house. The first two were not the right techs for the appliance I needed repaired. Then they told me that the repair was not covered because I did not maintain the appliance properly and the part that needed to be repaired was not covered because of a power surge. There was no power surge, the circuit board that needed to be replaced was worn out because of normal wear and tear which could happen to an older appliance. Their staff was discourteous, uninformed and seemed not to care that I was dissatisfied.

    I'm going back to AMERICAN HOME SHIELD. They're the best. Please do not use Choice Home Warranty. They're a complete disaster. Their coverage is minimal at best. Go to American Home Shield. They actually take care of you, pay higher amount of coverage when you need it and their platform is so much more comprehensive and intuitive to user service requests. Also, they never showed me the service report - no transparency. American Home Shield was always transparent.

    I submitted my claim yesterday at approximately 2PM. I had a septic tank clog. Within a couple of hours, I received an email offering me to find a company on my own to come out and assess my issue or they will continue to look for someone I live out in the country so sometimes it’s hard to find someone to come up here.     I have had these guys for almost a year. I have reached out numerous times about my dishwasher not working. Four technicians all came out from Sears and made repairs. Not one of the technicians tried the machine to ensure it worked properly, one never even had me turn water back on to test the equipment before leaving. I am still hand washing dishes, after filing multiple more claims with no responses and no-one coming to take a look. Reminder, each time they send someone it is 100.00 service fee. At this point I could have replaced the dishwasher and been done with it. This morning I called and was able to talk to someone, I explained I am paying for this service and the one item I am and have been having issues with is still not working.     I have filed three claims with Choice Home Warranty this past year (2024). Regarding the first and the last of the claims. The response from CHW was totally unsatisfactory. It took almost four (4) months for them to remedy the problem with an inoperative garage door opener. Their technician told the claims department that the unit should be replaced and refused to submit an estimate for repair... which CHW denied saying that the opener should be repaired... not replaced.

    Their technician refused to comply because they (CHW) would not agree on the cost for his labor for the rebuild. CHW then gave me an allowance to fix or repair the garage door opener (which MY technician did for almost $100.00 less). The third and last claim was submitted on the 31st of December, 2024. (Our furnace went inoperative on the 30th.) I called CHW claims to report our situation and that we had NO HEAT with outside temperatures well below freezing. I was given a claim # and told that I would be contacted to establish a time for a technician to come to inspect / determine what repairs would be needed in the next 24 to 48 hours.

    There was no contact of any kind forthcoming. So, on the 3rd day, I went to CHW's web-page for tracking claims and saw that a provider had not been located. I then called claims and expressed my alarm that we were approaching the 4th day with "NO HEAT" in the house and the overnight temperatures had been in the teens... well below freezing. The response was that I was on "the priority list" and to expect assistance "shortly".

    On the 4th day CHW emailed me with instructions for filing with their Resolutions Dept. should I find and enlist the services of a qualified technician... which I did. My technician found that the printed circuit board had a relay that was nonfunctioning in the board itself and that had disconnected the furnace's automated controls from the thermostat. Without that connection it wouldn't be possible to do a complete diagnosis of the furnace as it went through all its modes of operations. I authorized him to get a new circuit board and install it in the furnace. He completed the diagnosis and sent in an estimate to CHW for authorization. This was the 6th day with a non functioning furnace.

    The very next day, I received phone call from a claims supervisor inquiring if any work had been done on the furnace prior to actual diagnosis. I replied that I had paid my technician for a new circuit board AND its installation so the diagnosis could be completed. On the 7th day I received an email asking me the same question... to which I responded with the same answer. CHW then responded to that email that ANY work or repairs done to my furnace not authorized by them would not be reimbursed NOR, would they EVER be authorizing any future repairs to be done on our furnace.

    My attempt to arbitrate by reminding them of their slow response, that we were without heat in Wyoming in the winter and that a complete diagnosis couldn't be done without replacing the circuit board (which I was not asking for reimbursement), was met with the same response. In no way was there any coverage for our furnace. Furthermore, anything attached to the furnace (like central A/C) would also not be covered. My 2nd claim was on our Amana range (stove) which took CHW 5days to respond to by telling me to hire my own technician and it went downhill from there. So, I won't go into any more detail here. But, Choice Home Warranty did wind up reimbursing us.

    I did NOT have a good experience with Choice Warranty this past weekend and this is the second time I've been dissatisfied and I'm leaving a review this time because no one from the company seems to value customer service and choosing not to do the right thing when it comes to filing claims. The customer service people I've spoken to are not kind and personable. Just speaking as if they're reading from a script and they do not even attempt to explain or justify decisions.     Choice Warranty did what their service promises. They found, assigned, scheduled and approved a new water heater for installation in an efficient, timely manner. The issue is the plumbing company created a mess of sludgy water, sawdust and debris all over our basement. Also they mounted the water heater on top of wooden 2x4s. A water heater is dangerous to place on wood as a mount for many reasons. Why the typical metal stand wasn’t used, IDK? They sawed the wood in the basement to size it to fit under the water heater hence creating a large portion of the mess they left. If Choice gets this reconciled for us, I would move my rating to 5 stars.

    Firstly, this all went down on a Friday. I was awaken by my girlfriend saying that there was water on the floor in my mud room at 4:30am. I went out and found that my hot water heater had started leaking heavily. I immediately filed a claim (probably 4:50am). By 8:30am, I was notified that a local company had been assigned the case and that they would stop by mid morning and take a look. Tech arrived at 10:30, took a few pics and we both knew it needed replaced. By 12:00pm the claim had been filed and APPROVED. The tech had another customer to get to but told me that he possibly could get to it the same day, and I told him I’d drain it to make the process quicker when he gets there.

    At 3:30pm the tech had arrived back at my home, and by 4:15pm old water heater was gone, and the new one was in and making hot water. Within one day, I paid $100 deductible, had a claim processed, and got a brand new water heater. Total bill would have been $1400 with labor and the water heater. On top of this, the water heater is higher quality than any box store, and the company that put it in guarantees the work and the water heater for the FULL 6 years no questions asked. I could not be happier with how the whole process went, I am grateful I got the warranty!!!
